i work random
I'm random in life.
thanks for the ag8,dee
I work all over, then when I've almost finished a ti4, I concentrate on that
lol i do what i can see then watch the clues in chat then open up licketys clues and do a once over top to bottom then after that i give up and go to a-z words to help find the rest
nancy, I do whatever I can spot, then work from top left by rows - that's how the game determines which of the same letters a word starts at

There are a lot of storks and bicycles in Amsterdam, sprite!
right column grey <g>
In the process of writing my 'Impessions' travelogue (since I only had a long weekend in Amsterdam).
*looks up stork* and yes, lots and lots of bicycles!
ImpRessions, I meant.
Oh, lots of bicycles of wonderful creation, Sprite. I keep hearing that 'Tere Are Gawd knows how many million bicycles in Bejing' song when I was walking around there.
everyone in holland owns a bicycle, I think. Kids learn to ride it very early. It is a real popular means of transportation.
ok i have 80 left so going off to cook dinner bb in about half an hour
ow LOL, I can imagine, Jac!
bicycling here is rather hilly
And very creative they are with it when the family grows, sprite. It's brilliant!
anyone got the fa7/48?
li 7
yeah, holland is flat and small, so I guess that explains the popularity of the bicycle here
packing on the pounds ornith
true Jac, up to 4 kids even :)
Jillli - it's supposed to be very flat in Holland like it is in Norfolk (England) - but it's not as flat as it appears.
anyone get the first ti4,4?
just found that so 2 fa 7's
ADHD, I've got the heavy folks already, this a different one
oh, just found it.
oh sry.
didn't think that was a real word
got a clue for it?
your clue works, lol
it's a gerund
Sprite - Yup, saw andphotographed that. BTW, even though my Other Half had been there before on a stag weekend, he managed to miss the Red Light District. (I telephoned ahead and got them to switch it off) ROFLOL.
nothing like riding a bike to find out what's flat and what's not!
LOLLLLLLL Jac!
Too true, jilli!
Nancy ti4/4 binds (with string)

yw
how does my clue work ornith?
packing on the pounds?
fl 7 x 2
but you said there's another fa7/48
I have fa7 x 2, thanks to the clues
no, only one fa7/48, thought you were clueing the 7/40
ohhh an ap 7
2 fa 7's
one fa 7/40 is the people who are obese
no. i thought you were asking for the fa7/48 sry
gotit thx
the second fa 7/48 is a verb describing what you might do to pack on pounds on a cow
you think babble is trying to tell me something by repeating the obese words so often lately?
fa7/40 = obese persons. fa7/48 = plumping them up.
LOL
or me sprite!
The message is for me, sprite!
sprite - telling YOU? I thought it was having a go a ME!
sprite -- your nom de plume sounds slim and wispy
Could someone clue the gl7/36?
(My heels STILL hurt from walking around Amsterdam.)
yeah, I know jilli... it is the only thing about me that is slim and wispy though :)
really really shiny sparkly
all that gl7's is not gold
gl7 sparkly arts crafts stuff
ty, ty, ty!!
owwwww mom, a Tolkien clue!
sprite -- nothing like living up to your dreams!
gl7/36 - 70s glam rock chap, jailed for liking kids too much, Gary Gl*****.
sry... i swore there was a Y ending on that... i'm much too tired to be playing, let alone cluing
100 left --- crashing -- see you tomorrow:
night nan, sleep well
bye c'nan
night nan
not a Tolkien fan, sprite--twas only by accident!
nite all i'm dozing in between every other word.. don't even remember typing the 83 words on myt list
morning all..i just found the op8 all by myself..*s*
still love you, mom ;)
Mom - that saying is often misquoted, as all that gl7/36s. However, the quote proper has an 's' in it rather than two teas.
Night, ADHD
Hi rolin.
me or my cat? i can live with either!
Hiya, Rolin.
both of you, of course, mom
jac -- tool the gl words right out of my mouth
night adhd
hey rolin *hug*
sprite..this dutch organ transplant tv program..is it just a publicity stunt do youthink?...do you think it will actually air?
sorry jac--i can only do 1 tea or i get jittery
I'm getting sleeeepy
Speaking of Tolkein, last week, I bought his unfinished book that his grandson, Christopher finished off. Haven't read it yet though, so can't comment.
What Dutch organ transplant program? I justr came on here... godd morning. We will, it seems, air almost anything. I quite enjoyed the human dissection program a few months ago.
that BNN broadcasting firm is just plain crazy. They always try to shock people. They will try to air it, for sure, I hope they won't though. Totally tasteless and respectless if you ask me
(son actually)
*uncloaks*
I saw that too, hope to read it soon, Jac
hi ata!
Hi, Atalante
eeeeeek a Klingon Ata vessel! Hi there :)
hello ata
its a very good book
Sprite, I'll take your word for that and look it up later. Hi!
li7 - and the 7's are done
nah, romulan, after they got a cloaking device
monkey..this is a reality tv show where a dying woman gets to pickj which out of 3 ppl will get her kidneys
well done as usual, hugs! I only have 15 7s
hi MonkeyG! BNN wants to air a reality series where a dying person will chose to which patient her organs will go.
oh -- I saw about that on the news tonight -- gross
I've only got 14
breakfast time...bbl..
Ewww, no, I don't like that at all! No, I thought maybe they were just going to show a transplant live or something. That would be interesting. But no, playing around with people's lives in this kind of way sucks.
ty sprite for li
plagiarism from the narrowminded romulans, Ata... to me you're Klingon ;)
Ata - is he? Oh, I stand corrected. ANyway, the book is 'Children of Hurin'.
happy breakfast, rolin -- bedtime here!
always Romulan :) and yup, Christopher is Tolkien's youngest son
yeah, that's screwed up even for reality TV
yeah, nothing interesting there, MonkeyG. Scientific things I like, this I don't.
The one who's dying, OK, her choice, but it would probably be pretty much a given that 2 of the other 3 would die as well and tehy have no choice about it. Yes, that is a sick idea, all right!
Anyone on here start wearing glasses (like, all day glasses, not reading glasses) at a later age? Got mine yesterday. Looking for reassurance that they should make me feel all weirded out, and for tips on adjusting quickly.
BNN says they do it to illustrate the need for and lack of organs for transplantation. My bet is they mostly do it for ratings.
Ata - I just had to go back and read the book jacket - Christopher - 3rd son and appointed literary executor.
ok, I have 80 words and eyes are slamming shut. Back tomorrow sporadically -- another library day.
Sprite, I agree. Since when has BNN cared about anything deep-ish? Sheesh.
mg, I started around 12? and it was really weird at first because of my astigmatism... felt like the floor was tilted
Goodness! Just thinking now if I wanted either of my two children to be my 'appointed literary executor' which I would choose.
sweet dreams, jilli
yup, Chris and Tolkien worked closely together for most of Chris's life. Chris was a professor at Oxford, a member of the Inklings, and worked on the mythology from pretty much his birth onwards
and then when I got used to them, it was tilted the other way with them off! settles down eventually though
Ok, so this piece of furniture that looks a bit twosted isn't haunted or anything.
MonkeyGames--just wear them reading. It's hard to get used to looking over them when you change focal points.
monkeygames, I feel for you but it makes me giggle at the same time
if you have astigmatism, it will take some getting used to, MonkeyG :)
These aren't reading glasses, though. They do help with reading but are supposed to be all day glasses.
nope, your brain just has to get used to NOT correcting for astigmatism all the time. and NancyR, it was funny even when it was happening to me!
it was the haunted comment that got me
Oh--then you just wear them and walk carefully!
Ata - I know his history and his homes are a stones' throw away from where I've lived. I'm sure he has a grandson called Chris also.
ription--there's a bit of an astig. but also my eyes focus at different distances and it took me years of thise getting gradually worse to start to really notice, and now when I see how far it went I'm rather astounded.
it is kind of funny and I am always amazed at the things your brain does for you. It will be easier on you, once your brain has adepted, MonkeyG.
I think it's not haunted...
hello everyone :)
Uh oh--the baby monitor just started saying, "Owl, owl, owl, orange fish"... I have to go make eggy toast or porridge now. I hope I can drop in later!
Monkey--think of it as the world is twisted and off kilter (which it is in oh so many ways!), and your glasses are straightening it all out!
no, it is not haunted. Don't worry. It won't bite you in passing ;)
definitely a glasses thing, mg. you'll get used to the glasses in a week or two, and then another week or two to get your brain to learn to switch back and forth when you take them off
. P!
I had eye surgery, but my eyes keep changing. Back in glasses for distance only.
hi mrp! how are you doing?
hi mrp!!! How are you doing?
heeeeee mrP! *hugs* I SO missed you. How are you doing?
Hi, MrP!
I meant, Hi Mr. P! and bye...
New glasses (spectacles) always mean yuo are stepping over bumps in the floor that are not there and up and down steps that don't exist. Your eyes, and you brain, do adjust.... eventually. Takes 2 to 3 weeks.
maybe ... but as far as I know only one of Tolkien's grandkids write / have pretensions to being a writer
And thanks everyone. Off I go!
Hi MrP.
night mg
bye, MGames!
g'nite & g'luck, mg!
'Night, mg.
it's amazing how much vision actually works top-down
nope, actually only Tolkien's borther has a grandkid called Christopher *just checked*
hi girls! very very tiring day... need to rest infront of babble and my friends :))
*makes a wonderful resting place for mrP* relax, lady ;)
been thinking of you lots, mrp!

Shoelacelady - really sorry! Just tried to check my dressing table drawer where I know the cream should be and my daughter's been in there and thrown eveything into disarray. Can't find it!

sounds vile, hope you don't have that for too long mrp
Sprite, you'll either have to ask my friends Frank & Elaine in Coenenstraat, or I'll sent some to you in advance, lol.
let me check!
ok, sprite.
Mr.P - Have you been sorted out now, re the hospital stay?
Goodbye everyone. Have a great day today!
bye book
bye bookwoman, u 2
nite book have a good one
bye book!
Frank's a Brit, Elaine is 'Dam born and bred, as is their new son, Benjamin. Elaine told me that she hates Dutch tea and loves PG Tips. Every time Frank goes home or one of us internet lot (from the private forum we're all on) goes there, we have to bring her a box of PG Tips teabags.
jac, I find out tomorrow about my pending fate... I am praying I will not spend any longer than 4 months in hospital
u cant beat pg tips, trouble is I have only got 5 left
It's been a bit difficult lately, taking stuff through airports, so no PG Tips when we went.
can't we get them here?
if I am going to be on here all day! I am not addicted am I? lol lol
wow MRP - will keep everything crossed for you for tomorrow then
MrP - fingers, toes and anything else I can keep crossed for you will be kept crossed then. (My partner may not like it if I include my legs, but they will be crossed, too!!) Best of luck to you, gal!xxxx
mrp, 4 months, how awful, now the rest of us are here thinking how lucky we are.. will think of you
will be thinking of u MrP, sending hugs
omg mrP, 4 months is the minimum? I will SO think of you. *hugs*
thanks girls! am happy to be home, but so tired and drained from all the stress... I love you all for being so supportive, it helps to talk about it
mrp you have my good wishes for tomorrow. Four months sounds like a long time but if it sorts things out it jmust be worth it. Fingers, toes, legs arms and eyes crossed for you.
Frabces - you might want to rethink the eyes crossed thing... if the wind changes you could stick like that. LOL.
Jac there are thiose who may think it an improvement.
Since my second name IS Frances, you would think I could type it accurately! LOL
Jac at least you know that it is E for 'er and I for 'im.
Frances - if you keep on like that we might have to have a Babble icon day for 'photos if Babblers with eyes crossed, etc.' Actually, that might be quite fun.
Lol, Frances. Indeed! Nice to tal;k to a word-knowledgeable Babbler again.
LOL
It would be nice if I could type properly, too. More tea needed!
qu is considered one letter?
PG tips pyramids at the ready.
In this puzzle, Nancy 'Qu' is one tile valued at 5 points.
but for word length it counts as 2 letters
Get 'em into that teapot, Frances!
in the letter count it's considered 1?
ok
No, Nancy - 2.
Your wish is my command Jac.
OOps out of stock QVC craft item has just been delivered. forgot about that
will try and get some of that tea then, Jac... guess I have to order it from England!
Where do you hail from Shoelacelady - the UK?
Aw, sprite, you are a love!
Esher, Surrey, round the corner from Sandown Racecourse
Did you find my friends, sprite?
back of the mUseum District.
te5,16 is giving me fits. any clues please pretty please?
I found their street... did not look for them personally. Should I?
Frank works at the opera house.
Nancy to do with the drink we have been taking about. Also the te6/27
sprite - no, because I didn't give you their house number. Sometime though, maybe.
Morning all, you are just down the road from me shoelacelady
where r u ren?
morning by the way Ren
Caterham which is junction 6 on the M25
never heard of a te5,16
not too far then lol
Shoelacelady - knew you were from UK.
how is the grid this morning
how Jacula? lol
I'm in Worcestershire,so you're not that near to me, but nowhere is far away via motorway.
Hi Ren8
cant wait to get my flag lol
How, shoelace -you type like an English person. I'm a writer, I kinda sum people up.
hello Lynxxx
uk-groceries.com offers them, Jac
Need to start getting ready for work, see you all tonight and have a good day
Should not have admitted that... people will now type in silly ways just to fool me... if they can be bothered. LOL.
Jac I'm going to a place in Worcestershire next month called Ombersley - for a cricket match. May stay overnight.
Question Jacula? How does an english person write? lol
http://www.uk-groceries.com/products.a sp?cpage=5&cat=90&menuCatID=&intMax=
Has anyone seen Haz this week, as I have not seen her on the chat since Sunday
sure she was on last nite
Sprite - you are a love! Don't order them yet, unlees you want to try them yourself, because I don't know when we'l be in 'Dam next.
will order them when we know when you'll be in A'dam next ;)
Haz has been around, she's fine, as is Spangle (except when Herin described her as 'round'!)
I must have just missed her last night then, must dash see you later
bye ren c ya later
Talking of infernal, where is she?
sprite - when we were having breakfast in the Irish bar almost opposite the Acro Hotel, where we stayed, one woman (not British, we could telll) was so disgusted by us pouring milk into the tea we had been given that sh had to move seats so that she could not see us. ROFLOL.
LOL!
Frances - don't speak of the devil!
sprite - made us laugh, glad it made you laught, too.
I nearly did when Kiwi was giving us her menu earlier.
some people can be so foolish
hey just cause im the local late nite dinner drooler lol
why Jac.? are you supposed to have it black - or pour the milk in first?
No offence Kiwi
non taken of course
hah, finally got the 8s
lynxx - Hi. Milk isn't allowed in it at all, by the woman who moved's standards.
Didn't see Kiwi's menu.
gosh - I didn't know - I had better change the way I take mine then if I want to impress. On second thoughgts, I don't think I'll bother
I'm a milk in first person.
perhaps she hated seeing a good milk being spoiled by tea ;)
did the chat freeze on me again?
Jac did you see my message earlier? Do you know Ombersley?
no, I'm just wondering where these other 87 words are
hiding behind the ones you found perhaps, lynxxx :)
i have 134 hiding from me
I did, however, see some juniior reporter from The Daily Mail's result of hunting for something to write about all week... he or she found some kind of University or Research Group report about what's 'best for Britain & The World'. Apparently, it has been voiced, since farm animals' methane gasses are supposed to be a major contribution to global warming, that governments around th world should very, very slowly introduce the idea of us all becoming vegans. Governments knows that idea won't be well received and have apparently agreed, but very, very slowly catchee monkey! It seems, so the report says, that land used to house farm (meat) animals and dairy animals ma be better used to grow vegetable crops for humans to eat.
Yeah, right! As a former agriculture student I could begin a debate on that, but don't think I really need to!
we can all eat beans and make our own methane gas instead
Jac then you hear (on the news last night) complaints that too much farm land is being taken over to grow vegitatiojn for biofuels.
Frances - didn't see your post but just seen the new one - Ombersley in Worcs? I've been there but don't reallly know it that well.
Jac I'm doing a cricket match there next month. Maybe staying overnight.
down to my last 7 and could use a bit of help, pls. Need 1 E - I have ea x 5; el; et... any idea what I need?
Hugs another el
Frances - PM me on BabAnon and we'll try to meet up.

ok, back to the grid! :) had to go gaze in awe at maddison's costume for her convict excursion!... she looks like she just stepped out of the 1830's!
gi6 then
wow mrP!
Wish I could Andree. I should have had a cricket match today but the ground is under water. Better suited for boating!
my MIL has made the period costume for her! I am going to take a pic and post it later on! It is really authentic!
Halfway. Now I'm really going to bed!
bet that looks great MrP, I did victorian day and bought a brown bed sheet and made a crinoline skirt
thanks Sprite
does it ease the pain if I admit my last word was a P4? A mere 4 letter word?
hello mrpresident..feeling better today?
hello MrP hope you are feeling well
HEy Mr Pres
Not raining here yet, Frances. I hope it won't. Went out to cut headge at front earlier, after rain, and did front bit (couldn't do side and inside as sleeping son's car was in the bloody way). Hd just done front bit when ext-door's youngest came out onto front lawn (theirs, just where i needed to be to cut hedge) with a friend to play at hand stands.
AARGH!
Snip the kids?
Can't really tell a child to bugger off from her own front garden so I can cut my hedge.
hello granny and dana and infern! feeling like crappe thanks! but it can only get better : )) due for my pharmecuticals soon... things will be looking swimmingly well then LOL
I have se x 8; sl x 3... missing pls?
gm morning all n happy hunty
herin - don't tempt me! At least you said snip them, not shoot them like my kids said to me, LOL.
hunting even
What a thrilling life you lead Jac LOL
good morning amber
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, Frances, and I love it! xx
Jac i dont like children so your lucky i gave the poliet version : p
theres a gi7?
herin you be stirring there or telling truth??
Truth
yes rolin... musical instrument
Herin - you're only 29. I was 27 when I had my 1st child and 29 when I had my second. And then I also got a 'stepchild' whn I was almost 46. They grow on you, you know!
I was 22 when I had my first, and 39 when I had my 2nd
like warts! LOL
wow herin you now revealing yourself ,,, i like that
Little buggers, intent on pleasing themselves are wrecking your life... but the experience CAN be pleasureable.
Let me reword that. I tollerate most kids but most times they annoy me. I just dont want them
Well my life at the moment is get up, walk the dog. Get soaked. Come home and dry off until the next walk/soaking. This happens three or four times a day. With my feet in so many puddles I should be growing up - would prefer to shrink widthways though!
What is with the grid and OBESITY over the last 2 days ? : P
I have se x 8; sl x 3... missing pls?
Herin - I wince when I look back at my wedding invitations and photos ( we didn't have videos back in the 70s)... I was so crass and naive that I banned children from th Church and the reception.
I have to be off, hope you all have a great day. MrP, extra hugs for you and take care of yourself, take it easy! Whatever being sick does not take out of you, hospitals will, lol - hope you can get the rest you need to feel a little less drained.
lbye sprite
se x 9
cya sprite take care
bye Sprite - have fun at the party
Bye sprite enjoy your day.
thanks Sprite... and g'bye... hae a great day
My friend band kids at his wedding and it was just rude
bye sprite
fun at the party? LOL - it scares me to death, almost literally. I am a hero for doing it at all.
I'd been so peed off at not being able to hear the vows in Church throug screaming or cooing kids before, that I did not want them there. My wish wasn't quite granted. A friend from work who had a 3-month old baby girl decided she would come, baby and all (husband outside to retrieve child if it became noisy).
Made me think!
You are always a hero Sprite.
Thats fair enough but thats manners with kids. SOme are good some are irritating
thanks for that, lynxxx. *poof*
Sprite - relax!xxx
My friend didnt have kids at the recieption and it just didnt feel right
Once I had a child of my own, I realised how stupid I'd been!
Herin - fortunately for me, all my wiser friends (I was only 19 then) tok not a damned bit of notice of me.
Fireworks
yay hugs
Yay for Hugs !!!!
WOW for hugabugs (o:
wowee hugs

See thats rude. I know many people with kids that have manners
It's 3 a.m. time to head to bed... Goodnight everyone

Good morning/evening all. I've just arrived and fingers are itching to get started!
hi haz :)
Hello Haz. Someone was asking about you earlier. Said they hadn't seen you since Saturday.
hello haz, frances and atalante (:
morning haz and ata
Oh? I've been on since then, our paths might not just have crossed.
Injoy Andree
and lore and shoelace (:
HI Haz and anyone else i missed
it was ren that asked
Hi Ata and granny
and herin too (:
hi granny
Hello everyone (there, nobody should feel left out!)
hi Haz
we dont thanks Haz
morning all
Good morning Caroline!
morning caroline
Hello Caroline
Are both the QU words A words please
No infernal
ta
I'VE ONE Q WORD AND YES ITS AN A
I know that third letters dont get given out but its hard when Qu share a square
But the other one isn't.
thanks
Ill keep looking
infernal think regal - misspelt
Ta i just got it
So, can I raise a point for debate? How do we deal with the youngsters who are playing the game but taking up an incredible amount of log space and time with multiple requests for clues? My patience is wearing thin.....
mine too. though you did miss the funniest log entry *ever* yesterday, haz, from one of them
Spill the beans Ata.
Oh, sweet from the Untied States, you mean?
I know yesturday i was a pest sorry
oh! you did see it :)
herin - not you - I'm talking about younger children.
FM and I were just *dying*
i agree haz. Puts me off joining in most of the time. don't know what we can do though.
ya i think its ok to ask when you're genuinely stuck but some that i see are asking almost every word and i'm only round here a few days
I'm delighted that youngsters are trying the game, but it's like trying to get them to play Chopin when they've only just learnt a scale or two.
yes ... clueing a 10 word none of us have heard of for a 9 year old is pretty impossible. and annoying for us, and probably frustrating for them
any clue for the se5/14 please ?
So what do we do? I will clue to a certain extent, but goldies for one needed several clues for 'attach' yesterday - I was getting mad and dear knows what the rest of the log was thinking.
hi mr pres
Like your comment Haz .. my pennys worth is when players sign in and within 5-10 mins asking for clues why cant they look like we do? any comments
Good morning mrpresident.
hi carol! :)
hello those who arrived while I was in another window. my sister gave me a logic problem site.. eep!
to be blunt, goldies is irritating the f*** out of me
I woud like to apoligies for my truck load of dumb questions i just had a dense day
Not there yet Mr Pres
tell us what you really think ata!!
morning/evening haz! :)
and i agree, by the way
*giggles* I was more tactful the first day or two he was on :P
herin - I'm not getting at you, I really would like to know how we can all tackle the problem of goldies and others in a polite but firm way. All sing from the same hymn sheet so to speak (I'm great with the music analogies this morning)
best to ignore and let be... they go away eventually
herin i dont think anyone is making reference to you babe
But mrpresident - he's a pro, has his own account! We've tried hinting but no deal.
cowers behind laptop. I've only asked for a couple rofl
its kind of different with goldies, he's subscribed, so no way will DrG block him in any way. so we have to put up with him, do you think he'll just get bored?
maybe they'll read the chat archive and get the message...lol
i agree with you haz and he is/was a PITA yesterday...even after telling him to keep looking...has anyone told him about lickety clues?
Thats true I know that you didnt mean me but i just had to apoligise as i was so damn dense. I think Goldie just wants to learn. Maybe we could tell him to go to dictionary.com and use the word suasrus
I don't know, Atalante, he seems such a determined child. He knows about lickety's list, that's part of the problem, he follows it slavishly instead of looking in the grid for normal words that he might know.
like um look up SIGN in the thesaurus (wordsaruas) and then see what other words mean that one?
urf yes. I get very bored very quickly when he asks for clues for word after word in the list :P
He has also been told about online dictionaries etc but refuses to use them. So, should we suggest an ordinary dictionary and thesaurus?
i suppose the only thing we can do is not answer his requests and see if he gets the hint. or has that already been tried??
some of the grids don't have normal words! lickety's list assists with those, but the kids ask and ask for clues to fish bangers... they are only young and don't really know how to spell at 10
He just keeps asking and in CAPITALS.
Yes that might be good,
thats BEEN TRIED CHRIS YOUR MEAN FOR NOT ANSWERING
maybe tell him its a "grownup" word?
oh ok!
yo peeps
He needed several clues for ewer and ewes. Getting dacha involved headache tablets all round.
lol
also, some kids are reallly smart... I mean IQ high smart... so they would get very offended and offensive depending on their personality too... what to do?
argh I can imagine
you and your russian haz!
I dont know what else to do
ALl i know is last night i was a pain in my arse : p
WE COULD YELL THE ANSWER!!
LOL! :)
Caroline - that's the frustrating thing. Lots of people can get the word by a simple definition. goldies practically needs every word spelled out for him and (a) that's not the point of the game and (b) it's a pain in the backside for everyone else.
haz, that is because he is 10. they can't spell
I know, he's very persistent
My apologies for interrupting all your nice word finding but I just needed to get it off my chest and find out what everyone else was thinking.
exactly the same as you
twice clued is enuf haz...stick to that!
mrpresident - so why does a 10 year old who can't spell feel that it is his solemn duty in life to do a puzzle that taxes grown ups who can?!
I am developing the ignorance factor myself. All i know is i could have slapped myself for forgetting things
what is it with 10 year olds! they know everything allegedly
I did when I was 10 :P
Good Morning All Haz I think you have bee so kind to goldie ,however i think its the guessing of the clue that intrigues him ,looking up is to much for him ,mayby just telling him to look for 4 letter words till he gets more experiance
Every mortal thing.
Ha ha. I did too
LOL! too right , me too
me too ata but now at 64 i dont know nothing (:
Good morning Yvo - nice to see you!
hi yvo
But notice how they turn being 10 to their advantage ' Don't be mean, I'm only 10'
hi yvo
morning yvo(:
10 year olds are tricksy
Usuall response then dont be a pain : p
maybe we/you could just tell him you dont have the word yet? lol
is that the same person as "sweet" who said they were 9?
morning all... was going out shopping, but this is much too interesting... :)
well i'm 44 ,,,,can anyone help me..lol
No, sweet, aged 9 from the UNTIED STATES is a different babbler. Equally needy.
hello nancy and sherb (:
Good morning sherb!
are we untied haz...LOL
morning sherb, yvo and nancy
hi there :) I've been here on and off since the flip
Hi sherb
Dr_good chould have a babble grid for children
It was such a great typo, she didn't realise that she had caused Ata and FMitch to explode with laughter.
I want to go pro but no credit card. will have to go hunting for a new "best friend" hehe
I really don't mind children playing, I just wish they would accept their limitations and play to them. Like me with a needle and thread.....
Anyway, if I seem unusually cruel and harsh to goldies and others, you'll know the reason why...
I'm with you Haz. My eyes glaze over when someone like that is on. Then it is time for another cup of tea, coffee or g&t, depending on the time of day.
Oh my fav was that teacher that let her kids playbable and let them run riot on here, instead of printing it out doing it with the class
we done that be4
Yes, that was a laugh a minute.
We have run out of wall space with the book shelves
Laugh thats n intersting word to use
We did that before, corko.
we were dying over our keyboard. poor kid. LOL
Or i remember someone said a word on here forgot what it was and Goldie Promptly told us not to talk like that "that hes a child"Most of us that were here ,weretaken back by it .
can anyone clue the re 7/36
and when ass turned into a Big Swear Word
fireworks
Yes, 'I'm a child' seems to mean he can tell the rest of us what he wants, when he wants and how he wants the rest of us to behave. Adults unite!
Congratulations!
perhaps we could try not chatting at all when they come on line. not fair on everyone else, i know, but maybe they'll get the hint with no responses at all - sorry missed quite alot as had to go and do some work
i meant went on babble during school
WOWs to ruthy (o:
See how goldie sidetracked me havent typed one word in,
Con grat Ruthy
It's a conspiracy, Yvo, to keep you from the game - my apologies!
yvo she's prob finished anyway (:
Haz - I can't think of any solution for the problem other than if we just keep telling goldies how we feel...
No, nowhere near!
If you ignore Goldie ,he will persist until one answers , i must say he is polite
ur so mean about goldies
I think so, sherb, and keep reiterating the use of a dictionary. I mean - he needed clues for ea5/10 (it's in the grid today and I'll bet he'll neede clued again).
not mean corko just frustrated
No, we're grown-ups with opinions who have tried to help goldies. He is being unreasonable in his demands.
I think he does it because he craves the adult attention...
I'm sure he does, but he can get it be being grown-up not annoying
I thnk we can teach him... *smiles optimistically*
perhaps we should tell him how many teachers are on here. all 10 yer olds hate teachers LOL
Corko This dosnt warrant an answer,no one was mean ,
who is corko? I have never heard of this person before?
And peace descended upon babbleland again as babblers turned, thankfully, back to the grid....
ok, now I am going to pop to the shops... back this afternoon to play, and put our goldies experiment into practice... later all :)
Bye sherb - have a good day.
happy day, just got the second q word
A greyed out tile!
yoper

mite not make it granny lol
Are they worth losing an hour's babble?
urmmmmmmmmmmmm hubby is watching what I write, but yes
haz.... young men!! come on!
It was just an idle thought.....
have to go and do a bit, see ye later. happy babbling!!]

Morning all
Good morning spellit!
Lovely photo of Millie - she looks so happy!
morning spellit (:
There's a gi6 causing me great grief at the moment. I guess it's one of those word blind days..
is anyone else having issues with the chat log and words not being entered??
hi spellit
Millie just went to her cousins 2nd birthday and we bought him a water wheel play table. What a mess but they had a great time
Hi Mr P good to see/hear you!
These toys look so innocent in the shops! It must have been fun watching though.
hi spell !! nice to see you too :)
I think we all got pretty wet
Waterproofs should probably be included in the packaging, though goodness knows there's such a waste of paper etc in packaging these days.
He had a Thomas the Tank Engine toy and it took me 20 minutes hard work to get it out of the packing
phantom: petals
gi6/24 - finishes with the American can
Stares blankly...
I have a major grumble every time I open an ink cartridge pack. Cellophane and plastic and cardboard for such a tiny thing.
gi, two helpings of a consonant, finish with not out.
clue for the pe4/5 first one ??
ty haz (:
Light dawns in feeble brain - thanks Hazel
pe plus the first two letters of how old you are.
Sorry, scrub that it's the first pe4...
I got the darn thing! *fish slap*
how about the pe5/12 ??
You're welcome, spellit and granny
Not so far, mrp.
ok, will have to come back to that one! have tried all the combos I can think of!! *banging head on keyboard*
MrP...I have pe5/12....first bit of underskirt
pe5/12 - a domestic animal, first letters of the shirt accompaniment for men
but I don't know if that's the one you need !
thanks Haz
And then what you do to stroke the domestic animal pe7/40
of thank you haz!! didn't try that one obviously!!
now to tackle the pa's!
You're welcome!
There are some praising pa words - I just love the sound and look of them!
yes, you are right haz! but can't seem to get my fingers around the first 2 pa5/12
sorry if I am being a gold star today... will try and get on with it without annoying you all
pa5/12 - pa plus Bond's creator Mr Fleming's first name, but change a vowel.
thanks! :)
Or pa and don't be m*** to goldies.....
Mrpresident, you'd have a hard time annoying us!
looool
sweetness comes in a haz!
That poor boy, if he only knew!
the second ra6/18 ?? I'm hungry for fish
Hello Haz - I this is a bit of deja vu (from last nite).
hey mrp - good to see you back
crone - rodent + start of what you put on your bed
thanks crone! lovely to see you too :))
Hi Crone and anyone else on since I've been gone
Hello lynxxx - you join in just as I'm about to head off - planting to be done of summer baskets and tubs. I'll be back later to finish up here. It's definitely a slower grid than yesterday, though I've spent most of the time yacking!
did you get all you wanted Haz ?
ty mrp - that's me done, and sorry to be so rude Hi everyone else
bye haz, hi crone, karys and lynx again
have fun Haz
Morning Babblers
see ya later haz! have fun in the garden
Congrats Crone!
licketty has kept me both amused & grateful over your absence mrp
morning nono
hello crone and nono (:
evening/morning nono!
ty lynxx
I didn't say 'hello'....sorry everyone...HELLO !!
Haz i dont like to hear this is a slow grid i dont have much time today
Yes, Karys. My younger daughter came with me and she thought pinks and purples were the way to go. We've got fuchsias, geraniums, busy lizzies, pansies, verbena etc. I love this part, getting them all fitted in!
morning Nono
HI Karys
hi karys (:
me too ....all our's are done now...I envy you still with them to do !!!
Hello Nono - it's slower than yesterday, but yesterday's was faster than normal. It's not a horrible grid by any means.
granny you're upside down again!
he has certainly worked hard to keep you all happy!! the poor boy was bored and desperate to get his babble expert up so that I would finish puzzles really quickly and have more time with him :)
that's done it - must be time for the bottle
Right - I must be off and get my green fingers fitted. See you later!
Off for a break - two little granddaughters aged 5 and 7 to amuse. I will return exhausted no doubt...
see ya haz and spellit! :) for now
bye spellit
you finished crone??
Byeee!
bye haz
well it was a good plan mrp - I certainly find it much faster
bye to those leaving...(hope it wasn't me !)
yep p all done for tonight
terrific crone!
Well Done Crone !!
there's a yiddish word Karys - nebbish. its definition is "someone who when they enter a room it seems as if someone left"
you're not a nebbish girl
that must be it Crone !
that is a strange definition... still trying to wrap my mind around that one
got to go - got a criminology paper waiting for attention

Morning, TO.
rmcc..isn
isn't that the cutest word!
sure is babs.how do they think up these words?
i must say, you all have WAY more patience with a certain school-aged babbler than i do! i know i certainly ask for plenty of clues, but it really aggitates me when someone asks for clues for every word + then asks for multiple clues because thy dont want to take 5 minutes to figure out a clue! *smooths feathers back down*
Nadine, I agree
he's a kid. I have a daughter that age. If she goes 30 seconds without saying something again I'm lucky
fe4/8 clue please
yea..he's a kid... how are u evan?
totally agree evaN
I'm impressed with the kids who want to play!
am staying out of chat more and more becasue of those constant repeats
hey eva, we all had to start sometime. besides this one might be the next agatha christie.
Eva, I agree he can get a little (a lot)nerve racking, but I only wish my two that age would take interest in something like babble. (In fact, I may send them both in for ya one day, lol).
my 12 year old gradn daughter is playing also, I have never seen her ask for a word, she wants to do it on her own
i agree, i think its great that kids want to play. its just ruins the chat/game a bit for me when all i see is begging for help... hits the Troll Alert button in me, even though i know hes not...
granny fe+ you and me
kn, me too. Let me know if you ever find the off switch.

LOL
Oh1 You're my hero, BEST invention ever. I keep a roll in the car, lol.
teap
LOL yeah. or at least I threaten it a lot. Another great thing, traveling by motorcycle... can't hear ANYTHING she says
sorry
first day back to work since thurs, not a good weekend, you guys make me laugh
Ha. Makes me think of when Steve Martin used to do stand-up comedy. He said: "Whenever you're in a room with children, talk wrong. So, when they rais their hand to ask to go the the bathroom, they'll say something like, ' May I mambo dogface to the banana patch?' "
I'd give anything to get a bike, but I'd never get to ride. Not with all these kids. Definately gonna be my mid life crisis vehicle though.
how is it goin guys
can you guys tell ive begin the countdown to the dance recital? (thus marking the end of teaching my classes!) there are a few kids ill miss, but mostly its a huge sigh of relief...
how many kids eva?
i teach 6 classes! *whew*
the bikes were the mr's mid life crisis. I got mine because he wanted a BIGGER one. *eye roll*
ooh, breakfast time! be back in a bit. :)
great website just featured on the news: www.wiredsafety.org
I just realized inge is in the puzzle today. Immortalized!
I can't even get my five to keep a clear walk way thru the room, don't know how I could instruct SIX classes of gigglers...
Filling the void... I'm making a cake for one of the teacher, feeds 40. She wanted a calculator, said she'd send a pic. I thought, "Yay, easy cake". It's a friggin scientific calculator, uggg. K, I'll shut up now.
whew . . . the r's are slain!
It was the p's that got me.
just four p's to go . . .
breakfast calls....bbl someone needs to tell haz its ok to come out of hiding (:
about to call it quits for the night. anyone need a clue before i go?
a hint on the ag 8 would be nice....
ag 8 is a+ the shiny gl word that you decorate with
a + gary +gl*****
gl7/36 + first vowel in front
not having any luck finding the ap words, are they real words?
ag 8 means shiny, a + shiny specks used in arts and crafts
aahhh. got it, thanks
ap + opp of dark, plural (never seen em before)
ty bunny weird words
The ap 5/12, Stephen King story, Ap* Pupil, comparative ending
and im back!!
feel so dense here anyonegot a clue for the ae 4, first one
That was a speedy breakfast.
ae + opp of off
ae + not off
variation of spelling a long time
tnx bunny...couldn't see it at ll
you know you are if for a bad grid when ya can't find the first word lol
going, going.........
bunny -- thankfully, 2 of my classes are "older" kids, so theyre ok to manage. but i do have 2 classes FULL of chattbugs -- i find myself losing my patience with them WAY too often or having to bite my tongue... thats the main reason im done teaching after this season is over...its just not fun anymore...
tnx rmccc too
Ahh, can you maybe teach the older classes only?
yw caroline. gone........good night everyone. see you at the flip. *poof*
unfortunately, our studio is small + kinda short-staffed, so we only get so much say in which classes we end up teaching... besides, there are other reasons i asked to leave -- i wanna spend more time at the gym + have more free time, plus the BF + i are talking about getting a place together, which would move me out of the area anyway. it was fun for a few years, but its time to move on...
Nite rmcc.
I see. You've got a lot going on :)
yeah, on the days i teach, im leaving my house at 6:30am for work + heading straight to the studio from there + not getting home til about 9pm or so -- by the time i eat dinner, take a shower, tidy up + do whatever else i need to do, its late! and thats 2 nights a week! (and yet, somehow, my trainer thinks i should be able to ind time to cram a home workout in there somewhere!)
You've definately got more get up and go than I do! That's kinda how it is every day here though. Get all the kiddos ready for school, come home and clean, cook, take food to grandparents, pay bills or get groceries, get kids, dinner and baths. Lather, rinse, repeat. I wish I could get to a gym, trampoline and jogging are all I can fit in for the time.
oh, i can only imagine -- having kids is crazy all the time! heh i think thats another reason why i want time away from the studio -- right now, i want away from the kids, but i do wanna have kids someday! so i need to get to the point where theyre not annoying me quite so much...hah
I'll loan you mine any time you want. The hubby is gushing about going to South Padre for a vacation again. Great for him, just like being at for me, lol. I wanna go without the kids this year, got some disapproving looks for saying that!
dunno, I was always annoyed by kids, had some of my own and found, you know, I would likely have been happier without them
Then again, I have very challenging kids so...
bunny, a vacation w/o kids is an excellent thing
I couldn't imagine not having children, if I could, I'd probably have a few more. They just make life more interesting, plus, I'll have a herd of cleaners and mowers in about five years!
i love kids, but i do think its different when theyre your own (yknow, like when they act up, you can actually discipline them for it!) but i definitely think parents need time to themselves -- both alone and as a couple! youre still human, not just parenting machines!
LOL you hope. I spend more time NAGGING them to do their chores than it'd take to just do them myself.
anyone clue me on the at5/10??? can't see it for trying
kc, you have a coupla teens? Mine are all going to be teenagers at one time, don't know if I'm thrilled or scared.
right now, im just happy being an auntie -- 2 nephews + another baby on the way!! :D
at 5/10 - A + word for slanted
9, 11 and 13. And actually the 13 yr old I prefer how he is... first 10 years of his life was hell, he's now become human. It's very odd
ur brill, thanks, moment u typed it i saw it clearly, typical!
Hello, all. Here to try for a few words before I have to run.
My oldest is an 11 year old girl, I liked her better as a baby. She's getting all frilly on me, wants certain brands of clothes, thinks everything is "icky" and is slower than a snail. We argue a lot, I just have the advantage of saying, "It's over, I win".
heh. that's my youngest. How I raised a girly girl is beyond me. Thought the boys have their things too ($70 skate shoes) and the slow I think is just a kid thing.
whoa, really, it took me this long to find the PO4/5? maybe its all the talk of kids that made me see it...hah
My 13 yr old daughter and I used to be best buds, we still get along most of the time, but by teaching her it's okay to say what you feel, I have opened the door for mouthiness, lol. But, at least I know she will not do anything for anybody that she doesn't want to do, it's a kind of two edged thing, good for her and my fears of what's out there, but bad for me and getting her to do what she needs here, lol. Love her anyway.
Being slow was my only form of rebellion.
heh. yeah any which way, you love them, even if they drive you mad. I just look forward to the days of peace and quiet and a cleaning that lasts for more than 5 minutes
When I say slow, I mean like - stuck in the bathroom without TP and she stops to read a magazine on her way to get me some.
anyone have the ap 6/7?
AP + opposite of dark and its plural
ap 6/7 - ap + opp of dark, plural
ap + not heavy
ap + li 4/4 and plural
and the ap7 is the plural
lol I guess a few of us had it? :-P
lol
She gets distracted so easily, loses her train of thought. I have to be very patient with her. She's my dreamer.
ea 6/24 anyone, I have the birdy one but not the other
i have ag8 are there any more 8's
pab, op 8
op7-8 -- what a surgeon does

Bunnyvicious, I was like that. Turns out I have always had ADD--inattentive type
thanks kc and Eva
Yeah, my Mom says to have her tested. I just see so many kids doped up and I hate that. I feel like they can't be who they really are thru that kind of haze. Her grades are becoming affected though.
had the 7 just didn't plural
There are also behavioral methods of dealing.
hi all
el5 please
But I am on drugs now. Wasn't diagnosed until my thirties.
if she's 11 it may just be the age. All the kids in my neighborhood took a dip about 5th/6th/7th grade
hi periwinkle
e + what is in your pocket or the dryer filter
sheesh, thanks bunny
Yeah, I'm gonna wait it out. See how she does next year.
fa5/20 please
hi peri
my kids also had similar issues, got to the point where you had to train them to focus. Once they got to that point they were ok
fa 5/20 - fa + liquor
Did you use the duct tape for that?
You might check it out online. Lots of girls go undiagnosed because they don't cause trouble.
thanks bunny
hi TO, haven't seen you in a while, how are you
hey, peri :-)
LOL I was tempted... no, just a lot of making them go back when they were talking and stay on one subject, giving them a list in order and making them do it, in order
i'm good, how are you?
Focus training is exactly what I'm talking about.
really doing well here TO
I have a parent/ teacher conference after school lets out. Wanted to see what her teachers think, if she is easily distracted, or if there is actually someone distracting here. I think she just needs to get her priorities in line.
are yo wokring?
can i ask for anything else on the el5 please,,,,there's only fluff in my pocket!!
Carol, it's the fluff!
it's also the fluff found from dryer "screen"
i sometimes think im developing adult onset ADD -- i was a great student, but i never learned how to study...i guess i was just a "smart" kid -- but now i have a seriously hard time reading anything that doesnt "appeal" to me and im SO easily distracted!
good luck. Not trying to be a drug pusher or anything. Just wonder what it would have been like if I had known how my brain worked differently than other kids.
not yet TO. will keep you posted, keep your fingers crossed
I was a great student, but my social life suffered.
will do!
:-) thanks
lol,,,,,,took me a while but i get it at last....ty to bartamy and bunny
yw carol
nook, Eycsis is the complete opposite of that, but she's a brain. She has definately got it in her, she was tested for the special placement program and made it in.
u really have to think outside the box with this
nook = book
What a cool name!
how do u pronounce Eycsis
*guessing* like Isis?
I heard it on Married with Children, it was the name of Buds blow up doll. We don't tell her that, also the Egyptian goddess of fertility. (Isis)
lol
I have to go now. See you all later, I'm sure. Happy Babbling.
brill name
bye bookwoman
Bye Book.
so how did you come to that spelling, bunny?
TY, tried to give them all original names.
Wanted to make it as hard on her as possible TO, lol. Not sure really.
lol I just have family names. Not a doll name!
mind if i ask what the other names are?
it's the nicknames that killl me
Eycsis Corrine, Dreyvin Asche, Sahera Serene, Twylah Leygh & Skylah Kaye
Chopper and Fig Bat?
cool names
oh they're so cool
sound like names from novels
ga5/14 please
You have to address Chopper as "Cheerleader Chopper Twylah Fairy Princess Ballerina Contessa the 3rd"
thats a mouthful
LOL
ga 5/14 - plural of the entrance on a fence
pl og ga4/6

gotta love the digital age--not only do I have an eticket for my flight tomorrow, I just printed out my boarding pass . . . fits so well with my control freak nature!
i do also have a secondary icon in store for later...something a little more amusing...heh
where are you headed, une?
The Big Apple--meeting up with my daughter at Laguardia . . . and meeting up with Dorens and her daughter Saturday at the Cloisters!
That sounds fun! I used to live in NYC.
Do you know Dorens from Babble or from the so-called "other" world?
we go together once a year and I love it! And since she's in grad school at UMD I never get to see her so it's a double thrill this time!
Only know Dorens from Babblonia
I'm sure it will be wonderful - enjoy!!!
only downside this time is that we usually go in December and the forecast is for sweltering temps and humidity . . .
a clue for the gi6 plz
Thanks, Ping--I'll also get to spend time with my "second daughter," my daughter's good friend who lives in Brooklyn!
oh really? is it hot in tn yet? we have been lucky in houston so far
gi + two x crossed letter = opposite of out
that = should be +
MM, I'm "gi****" ready for my trip by packing and taking the pups to board

Good afternoon/morning all. Back to get some more words.

75 words left to go, and im babble-blind
hi i am back'
Hello TO.
hi haz - and spangle! : )
Spangle is very contented - so am I, back to babble...
i am not yet gnasking my teeth after myrecent hiatus. i'm sure it will come : D
You had a problem? Was it today?
no, i was away.
Ah, you were in absentia then. Welcome back, we'll try not to annoy you!
*peeks in* is it safe?
Well, I'm here..... was there a problem?
just wondered if our "friends" had turned up yet
hi ata! i think so, but i just bureid myself in the grid
I don't know, Atalante, I'm just back after a planting frenzy in the garden.
goldies was in earlier, but so far, chatlog is troll-free!
ah well, we shall see. I have an hour before I go and pick up the Hobbit :)
we need more Os today
I hope she's not too wobbly after the sedation. She'll probably be quite sleepy.
I'm going to take her bed down in the car so she can just flop on it and I can just carry her back inside if she just wants to sleep
can i please have a clue for the ni4/5
Spangle's back to normal after her little surgery, the stitches came out at the weekend. She never paid any attention to them, so no lampshades needed.
ni + not ma
awww yay for spangle :)
thanks EvaN -- that grayed a tile!
Oh look, there are two places with ni....
hi all... and yippee for spangle!
hi stid
and my husband - get this - went out and bought some STEAK for Hobbit for her dinner tonight!
Hello stidmama!
wow -- Hobbit IS special! :-)
Good grief, I hope she realises what she's eating!
I just hope he bought some for us too!
doubt it, it'll be swallowed in 2 secs!
it makes him feel better though for not noticing her limp lol
Do they taste their food at all, do you think?
I never did hear what happened, atalante -- dislocated, or broken?
I don't think so!
don't know exactly yet, I have to talk to the vet in a few minutes, but they think its early stage hip dysplasia
oh, not a happy thought (I have congenital hip dysplasia -- it hurts)
ow :(
ata -- sorry to hear that...our old dg had hip displasia + suffered with it for years before my parents finally had her put down...
I keep hoping no one's going to put me down! LOL (actually, Tom knows how to put it back to rights now)
ahh, but stid, at least you can say what hurts, where, when + how much!
but hopefully we've caught it really really early, you can hardly tell she's limping except first thing in the morning, so glucosamine should fix her up for a good while
yes, and someday when it's too painful to walk, I have the option of replacement. Though they do it now for dogs, it's really expensive.
ha. got a hundred... close to halfway...
our poor pooch had it for years...for a while they were able to manage it with meds, but she also had degenerative joint disease...after a while, i got on my parents because they were just letting her suffer only because they would be too sad to have her put down. i loved that dog, but she was in misery!
I was amazed when I read vets can do hip replacements for dogs ... I don't think I could put one of mine through that pain of op adn recovery
yes, we finally said good-bye the my childhood companion when she couldn't get up or down without a whimper. She was a good dog, and didn't deserve to suffer.
I think it would have to be a very young, healthy dog to make the operation "worth" it for the animal. The stress of everything would be just too much to justify it on an older, sick dog (thinking of my dear little Buffy, who is sleeping next to me at the moment)
Good morning Stid!
awww poor babe :(
please can i have a clue for the last ra6/18
ra6/18 - begin with a rodent, end with the first letters of what is made from flax
hello perfesser! Gonna be a scorcher today, got yer sunscreen on?
sorry haz i dont understand you
Got the umbrella handy -- typical Seattle day here.
hannah, first three letters of rodent bigger than a mouse, + first three letters of fine fabric used for tablecloths and shirts
The first three letters are a rodent, the last three letters could also be said to be the start of a word which when straight, is the shortest distance between two points.
I lived in Seattle years ago and one month it rained every day!
good for you. Send some of it thisaway, will ya? I spent an hour watering yesterday, will need to repeat the performance elsewhere in the yard today.
not unusual, Cherrypop! We get LOTS of rain on this side of the mountains!
Haz and Stid, I admire your masterly (mistressly?) clueing--LOL
Those winds are called "westerlies" because the blow from the west, not to the west.
Hello hetty - nice to see you!
riemann, you're a stick in the mud, you know that? *sticks tongue out for emphasis*
hey hetty! how was eucharist yesterday?
I've been to your place. Lots of mud and lots of sticks. No wonder I felt at home.
yes, well we redecorated in your honor! LOL
It's always lovely--every Tuesday morning--followed by a healing circle I really need. Bless you too.
Oh! and how's your friend who had the operation? I am hoping she is up and about and getting ready for her trip?
help on the AE 6 please?
ae = what you do to your lawn
Spiking the lawn?
we do it to our lawn every spring to make sure the grass roots get oxegyn
then plural
mow!
thanks prism, CadFan and Has!
Std, I told you yesterday but youn must have left by then; she's had to cancel her entire trip to Moscow, and she is very low in spirits. Her mother too is devastated.
oh no... I am so very sorry. I'll send you an email later then.
Irina's battle with cancer is certainly one I often don't feel strong enough to share
Thanks for caring, Stid.
firworks
YAY hannah lou!
Congratulations!
okay, help on the AP 6?
hello, how's the puzzle today?
It's easier to see the ap6 after dark.
not bad, harp, not as hard as yesterday
*thinking* thanks riemann
Hello harpjane, slower than yesterday's.
hm. nope, gonna need more than that, riemann. :-(
You see part of the ap6 on most every diet food.
ah. got it that time! :-)
'No fat, no salt, no taste?'
ALL the A words are in my basket now! :-)
rofl Haz.... you got that right!
actually the lean cuisines are pretty darned good
Speakig of food, I'd better think about starting to make some for the evening meal.... Back shortly.
later Haz
the second EA 6 is eluding me.
stid -- swap the snake for a cross
stid, baby of the first ea 6
I would have thought someone as small as you would get the second ea6 before the first.
*facepalm* thanks kc and EvaN!
*pointedly ignoring riemann*
i really want "yorn" to be a word...heh

missing 2 Y words, so i swear i keep trying it over + over...heh
I need two more YE words for a gray tile.
do you need y clues?
oh. make that one....

one is the abominable snowman
does anyone have the ea6,please?
thanks trident!

YAY riemann! :-)
ok, I have qu 5... what's the other?
ive got a few grayed out -- both Ns, the i, the L on the left, the Y, the O, the 2 Es in the center column, the Q, and the A right next to the Q -- but none of them are huge tiles to work with...heh
another qu 5
both QU5 -- one rhymes with female royalty
Time to go. *wave*
one looks like the current monarch of england, the other like an equilateral rectangle
the other is QU + plural for of "is"
ahh got it, thanks stid
later riemann -- have a lovely day, and think of me, sweltering in an un-cooled house!
me too stid!
well, right now im at work, but the AC is busted in my house...
hi all!
hello Tea! :-)
There's a great play called"The Qu*** Fellow"
here I am complaining that it'll get above 80 today... I bet you're already used to that!
f*i*r*e*w*o*r*k*s* for me
it is just starting to hit the high 80s and low 90s this week - we've had a weird year!
oh yes -- regularly been in the mid- to high- 8-s here for the last week or 2... WELL over 80 inside my house! *ugh*
YAY iesha!
hm. I didn't know Brendah Behan spent time in prison...
We have the fan on in the door to the back yard at the moment. though I should go close the windows on the sunny side of the house now. brb
we have had all the fans running and the windows open for across-breeze, but the blinds drwan to keep out the sun
I gave up and turned the AC last week
I'm a wuss!
i have to call the AC guy out to have a look at it -- i already know theres a leak (had to call them out at the end of the summer last year, but it made it through the summer) the unit is about 10-12 years old, so its gonna be time for a nice, expensive replacement, im sure!
there's one fa4/7 I can't see (the first one)
ouch - we had to repair our heater this winter - which now make our AC work better, but it was a chunk of change!
what you pay to use something?
right after the Dickens character
man, that T in the corner is driving me batty!
well, thanks to the wonderful world of A2Z, i managed to close out that mean old T tile...heh

There are four ye 4 words

Hello sherb - had a good day at the shops?
hi sherb
hi Haz :) ...only a quick trip... can't bear crowds... have you encountered our young friend since this morning?
hi TO :)
hey again.
I wasn't on at the time, but read back in the chat log. He's been on ,tackled the a words before school. People have been patient, but there are mutterings from some! You could maybe explain to the others?
i have il 4 , in5 and 6...first two letters fo rthe ohter please/ no clues yet

ty haz!
You're welcome.
hello haz, sherb, TO, stid and anyone else I've missed!
what a sneaky grid today..
Hello Conxshun, how are you?
hi con!
hi Con, stid...
It's not as cooperative as yesterday, that's for sure.
yes, the first half seemed really easy. The words that are left though (I have 49 to go) are like pulling weeds with long tap roots!
stuck with 40 to go...
Came back for my last three, having a problem with the li 4 word (last one in the li set), word in licketys resources is not accepted, did anyone solve that problem?
nice analogy.
I'm doing OK haz, thank you. Getting ready to come and do a workshop in NE of UK at the weekend... and thought I'd 'quickly' do the grid.... !!!!
hey inge!
Hazel dahlink! Your remark about Zsa Zsa has tickled me.:))))
back again for a bit
so....anyone here formt he cheese-rolling shire?
now I've done longer grid work than preparation....
can i ask ye ,,,when ye say ye "monkeyed" a word...what does that mean?
hi caoline - hi jacs!!!!
Jacula - the one who really frightens me at the minute is Joan Rivers. Can that woman's face move at all?
monkeying = randomly typing letters in the hope of finding a word by accident...
Haz - No, but her mouth still can!
LOL!!
howdy babblers. Finally found a lab that would do the blood test I should have gotten Monday. The tech was so green she could not draw blood after five tries. I feel like a pin cushion.
ah sure I'm doing that all the time, didn't know that was what it was though, thanks guys
yikes inge!
For sure! But she seems to be permanently husky. Either too much talking or too much time spent with a tube down her throat.
oh Caroline, it's like the saying if you put an infinite number of monkeys in a room with typerwiters eventually they will write the complete works of shakespeare
ooooo inge!
inge - Ouch! Poor you.
{{inge}} ouchie
any clues please for the re5.12 and the re4.5 following it? I'm going mad here!
I have changed laboratories, and the new one could not gtr me into their computer. Did the test anyway
re5/12 - make alterations again using sharp objects
re4/5 - re plus the first two letters of what verse is.
lol! thank you haz!
You're welcome Con!
thanks for those Haz
Hello Babblers

hi Scarlet and bye stid and hello to all!
Alo!!! :-) So good to see you back! How was your trip?
Scarlet, it was wonderful... my first view of the Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest.. I was agog!
hmmm, I'm guessing there's about 200 words today?
Oh.... so fabulous... You are a lucky lady, Alo. I hope you drank it in and stored in the Number One memory chip for the winter and the coming years!!
TO, when Dorens says "Owl" is meeting us at the Cloisters Saturday, is that you?
208
and it looks like Carolyn is violating my -O trademark
Hi, Une!

Welcome to all things Scottish. Our slogan is, if it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!
Yup.. I decided there was no way to capture the beauty with a camera, bought a CD in a gift store, am sharing it with relatives.. ahh.. yes, I have a memory chip in the noggin .
We have three sizes: Wee, Not So Wee, and Friggen HUGE!
Gi + double consonant, leading into the sea bird that is in the grid today, but can't be pluralled, billmster.
I am happy you had such a great time, Alo... but I missed you! :-(
aww, tx Scarlet.. I was not too happy to discover that the so-called "high speed wireless" at the hotel didn't operate as advertised.. missed completing two grids and missed communicating with Babblers too!
OUch... but, the good thing is you got to see the greatest gulch in North America! Small comfort, I know... LOL
lol, "the big ditch" as they say out west
Right! It must seem claustrophobic now that you're back in civilization....

Scary? I think it's quite sweet.
thnx jacula!
i am afraid for the little mouse :/
like enter one word, and find the different combinations?
Hell, it's a good thing you don't live with me and my 'Hunter cat'.
How about they are best friends? and, they are playing hide and seek.
yes jacs, it is, we have 6 dogs right now & none of them ever bring anything gross home
I thought he'd brought a dead dodo home the other night. It turned out to be a baby pigeon.:( I wish he wouldn't do it!
I had a cat and a rat that were the best of friends
awwwwwwww
anyone?
teague - that's like that story about the scorpion & whatever (insert your favorite animal here) - the animal needs to get across the river & the scorpion offer him a life, but the animal is afraid the scorpion will sting him
my gerbil and my dog are friends. the dog looks out for the gerbil, and the dog doesn't try to touch him or hurt him
My hunter cat brings me papers, towels, dirty clothes--even a pincushion until I put it away.
BTW, the cat in my icon is my late and much beloved female 'Homely Cat', Kira. Not the mad huntsman.
poor pigeon.
jac, were her eyes really that green?
to which the scorpion replies, but i wouldn't do that because then we would both drown - & of course 1/2 way across the river the scorpion stings the animal & as they are drowning the animals asks 'why?'
that is true helen.
and the scorpion replies, 'it's just my nature'
love that story helen, and often tell it to my students.... "it is my nature"?
bhg - if you want to play complicated versions of this game, go ahead by all means but there's no way to do it 'offically' on this site.
I have too many different species of animals...they all have to live in harmony. The only ones I have to worry about are the pygmy goats and the horses.
pe 5/16? please?
Dorens - her eyes were actually a lovely amber colour. I've no idea why they showed up so blue (looks blue to me) in the photo.
well, they like aeach other I think. I mean, the dog looks like he won't eat him, and he stops him from rolling off stairs when he is in the ball.
it is a good story
pe + when you're angry you're in a r***
pe 5/16 = a round green veggie & ** "we bring good things to life" (at least i think that's their slogan)

Have you read much of Lynn Truss?
ROFLOL
or Lynne? Forget the spelling
pam - Only Eats, Shoots & Leaves so far. I do have her follow-up to that (can't remember title right now) but haven't read it yet. Why?
I am reading a collection, which has 3 novellas and a collection of her columns. I am only just in the middle of the first novella, and it is a wonder. And, for some reason, I thought of you--that you might enjoy
2nd re4/5 = a short word for 'possessing again'. Or... try re + 'Gazunder'. (A form of toilet used in my childhood.)
Thanks, pam. I'm sure I would.
No problem! For those sleepless nights, LOLOLOL

Well, then, I wish you a good night's sleep!
1812 Overture, I meant to type.
funny, i did not notice the typo (phantom) until your correction...
yay, got the o8
pam - that's because our brain's automatically correct things.
ok, to the list.
makes sense, jac
There's a piece of writing on the internet somewhere that is totally without vowels. It's still readable, though.
i'm tired tonight, so will probably be asking for a lot of help.
here to help when needed feather
there's another one where they switch the order of the letters, but keep the first and last the same

That's the one, feather. Not without vowels then...
and you can read the whole thing fairly easily
ok, ae6 please?
Ask away featherbee!I need help too,but hesitant to ask for clues since some people were a little annoyed by all the clue asking earlier by another babble player
My brain disregarded the errant '.
that player gets old fast only because he needs clues several times over for the same word
Minver - goldies is a different case entirely to yourself.
I was feeling similar.
and because he's so young, he doesn't have the same frame of reference, so doesn't get a bunch of clues
ae6 & verb form 7 - to put air into.
feather, ae6, when you punch holes in the ground to make it breathe

hi, jilli, bye TO
OH i am so going to make that one PAM I am sooooo going to make the Banana Cream pie with Choc chip base
When I was on earlier today, I was the only one with a swan icon. Swans are one of my favorite animals

hi ping :)
hi jilli
thanks for explaining....
hi saph
rhymes with what ak and rkb have in common...
that jello ban sounds a bit over the top to me!
The government here jsut sucks, i wrote to Kraft and to customs as to why and that was the response. There is no danger to anyone contracting MCD (BSE) as the Canadan Gov have monitured the production thougherly. I think they are doing it to upset me
a world without jello???????
feather, you here? i did one. are they all the same kind?
bye for real *poof*
I changed my icon in case no one had yet done Swan Lake for swan theme ;)
Min, the last three letters of fl7.44 is like arm*** (underarm)

So i am going to try and get my g/f to send some over as i know that its not 'dangerous' as i have researched it.
