I'm really in a quandary. actually I got caught going through a red light but that falls under speeding apparently. but I only went through the light cos it was on green when I approached, then turned to orange and I thought I could easily get through, then it turned red just before I went through, and it seems really shitty to get 3 pts for that

especially as I've only been driving for a year so 6 pts = lose your licence

i have never heard personally that was actually a wrong doing unless it was intentional i.e driving at 70mph to run the lights, but i am almost sure that if its safer for you to continue once over the white the to try and stop.

Just wondering, tecno... I've got almost every possible symptom for hypothyroidism but my tsh is normal, and my t3 and t4 are abnormal. My doc keeps refusing to let me try medication on a trial basis. Instead I keep getting tests -- swallow study, throat scope, chest x-ray, bone scan, and yesterday a referral to an Endocrinologist.

my mum was a teacher but moved to working in schools for disabled kids when I was young. Used to go there after my school, it was a learning experience and set me up to understand the difficulty of trying to cope. It can be tough but also very rewarding

My friend and I were kayaking in Niagara County, on a small lake, and I saw something moving in the water--I thought it was a lily pad or litter.....I get closer and see a mostly submerged tiny bird, a fledgling, struggling with its wings, then collapsing...I reached out with my paddle and scooped it up. It was a goldfinch, with emerging tail and wing feathers, but the head and torso were still downy feathers. We cradled him for a while, paddled back to the car, and I placed him in a cooler so he could rest. We planned to bring him home to grow until he could fly on his own. Then, while we were eating lunch later he suddenly flew out of the cooler and up into the tree.

jes, would we have done the right thing, if he hadn't flown away, to bring him home? We didn't want to just leave him somewhere, and saw no Mom searching for a lost child.
typically, the mother will be around somewhere, but may not come out when she can see people.
putting a baby bird back up in a tree, or some other high-ish place where they're not obvious cat-bait usually works for the parents to find them.
obviously, if they're injured that doesn't always work out well
most of the time, when i've found a bird that wasn't obviously/openly injured (broken wing, bleeding, etc) just putting them someplace quiet for a while and then letting them fly off has worked.
We were sad to see him leave us, but happy to see that he knew how to fly. We saw him high in a tree

How did they get in the first place? I'm a new homeowner. And while I love the thought of bats eating mosquitos around my back patio, the thought of a colony in the attic makes my skin crawl.

they get in through little openings under the eaves, usually, fire... they're about the size of mice when they tuck their wings in so it doesn't take much of an opening

The bat poop is mostly shiny insect remnants--it was in my attic and evidence of their residence. They need only a 1/4 inch space to squeeze through, and it is easy to use an expanding foam spray to seal up the house in and out
for the most part, bats are not very aggressive. have to wonder, of course, about an aggressive or otherwise strangely behaving bat being rabid...
