hi stid
have you been to the tacoma art museum lately? they have two great exhibits. one on cecilia beaux (good portrait painter) and one of quilts from gee's bend
thx for ap 8!!
nope don't get up to the big city much; stay down here in my "rural" neck of the woods
which leads to the 9 :)
what does?
hm. ap 8 leads to 9? *thinking*
but - it's not an ap . . .
where was a clue for the ap 8 ?????????
so what does the 9 start with please; the suspense is killing me
the ap8 is the point at which the sun reaches its northernmost reach in the sky (I think)
me at 12:15
an
oops. not sun, planet or comet furthest from sun.
thanx, melon
thanks stid
huh???????????? dont know the point for planets or the sun............clues please that are different.
lol mkg. i'm not that smart either
mkg, you can google comet point furthest from sun...
mkg, ap8, ap + a name of a sun god (6 letters) -s + a particle
ta7
not finding the 9 though... (but won't go to list until halfway or more
why think you stid. i did just that! :)
ap+him+king of beasts

ty mel got it!!
thanks melon
Thanks for the ap8, stid, melon, and Ornith
sa7/8
okay, thinking about the 9....
him? melon ap plus him and i dont get the him.............sun god you mean? i dont know who that is. sorry.
just got it. thanks lots.
does the 9 start with a hymn for a country?
got the ap 8.........now question is the 9.......
no stid, not quite... national an***m + king of beasts
almost.
*kisses ornith's feet*
ar 7, le 7
picnic - picnic "guests!"
so it's like the opposite of the ap8? *runs to look up definition*
ph 7
sh 7 x 2
not even! "a luminous, white spot occasionally appearing at the sun's elevation but in the opposite part of the sky. "
oh, duh, thanks for second sh7 dee
that greek god really gets around though...

manged to find only the e's for the second column. Trying to go the grid one box at a time. Seven boxes done. Don't thiink I've gotten this far before.
I wish I lived closer, I would take over soup or chocolate cake or something. From here, there is little I can do.
oh she did then, so was I, only caught pieces of chat, so wasn't sure if I remembered or mixing up with someone else....that's really rough to lose both parents in the same year no less

me thinks sprite is funning with us lol
Ks done... incredible! Nope Kiwi, seriously... to me it is something in the center?
a k7 of true?
or a guy in the army lol
ke6/30 is one popcorn seed before it pops
ah, ok! Guess I always had a wrong idea about the meaning... it is not center related, but form and size related, right?
what do you call the little pieces of corn that you cook to make popcorn they are the ke 6/7 lol
hello everyone - you are right Sprite, it can also be a ke6 of truth

I told you guys I am reading with my kids, in English, right? Daughter of 9 and son of 11. Son has had 1 year of english at school, daughter none. But now she is catching up with speed of light, and getting better already than son is. I am proud of her, but what to do with son?
boys are always slow - my eldest at 14 still struggles reading english as his first language
younger son seems to be better (hes 11)
try finding topics of interest just for him
she is the smartest of the two anyway... I want to read on and help my son handle being outsmarted... what do you think?
also keying words visually or through action might also help him
like comics ! my son showed no interest in reading until he started collecting in his early teens
sprite do you think your son would like an english speaking email friend to correspond with = that might help
I am sure he would love that!~
you could make him read aloud the emails he gets
ow, comics, smart one lynxxx! He loves comics.
ill talk to my two boys and see if they are interested
and ill let you know
wow, that would be great, Kiwi. Especially the younger one... they are the same age.
kewl ill talk to them tomorrow
thanks :)
oh, and perhaps Ata would be willing to find my son some great comics and send them to me... *makes note to self to ask*
am here. lol. of course! but there are probably a lot of webcomics out there for boys of his age too, so he could keep up every day
I can do that sprite, find comics I mean, big kid at heart here.
I bet, but I want him to have books. Tangible ones :) He loves them and it would certainly stimulate him to read more on his own too.
oh wonderful! I can easily pay through paypal, if you are using that?
is he old enough for tintin yet?
oh yes, I think so! Here's something to break your tongue over: Tintin is called Kuifje in dutch :D
ok sprite the boys just came out of their rooms so i asked them both and they said they are happy to email to both your children if they are interested
time to retire for the night, less than 100 to go for tomorrow, night all :)
nite muse sweet dreams
yes, can do that, but a warning, comics are an expensive hobbie to get your son hooked on at 5$ canadian a book
goodnight MyMuse
ow! tintin is wonderful, cos its so much fun for boys, as well as girls
night muse :)
that is true, joso... we better start small then :)
Ata, did you see Elona is in the grid? :)
oh yes! :)
I have a bunch of duplicates, if you cover shipping you and your son can have those
oh joso, that is so wonderful! Are you sure?
I would send you over my husband's prized complete set of hardback tintin books. But I would die shortly afterwards
lol Atal!
LOL you better not, Ata, that might hurt him terribly!
they are his complete pride and joy LOL
methinks he deserves better from you, LOL
I have 7, 3 foot long boxes of duplicats, send what you'd like to spend, and I'll send that much.
but I could definitely get hold of a few paperback copies for you
WOW! You are some serious collector, joso, and a generous one at that :) :) How can I reach you?
Ata, that would be so great :)
what do/did you collect Joso? not that my son needs anymore - I think he has about 20 of those boxes
e-mail at joso13joso@yahoo.ca
thank you! Writing email now.
I used to collect, bizz took a downturn and I stopped cold turkey. was costing $800.00 a month just to keep up, excluding back issues.
isnt babble amazing?
narrowly decided keeping the house was more important, lol
babble is amazing, babblers even more so :) and LOL joso... must have been a tough decision!
!! Joso - that was an expensive habit/hobby
ah, lynxxx, you always need more
does anyone have all the 7's? I'm still missing 6
i only have four sorry hugs
five now lol
just found the big black cat

thx fran, nice of you to think of us canucks. Good grid for a holiday.
you'll have to tell me which one is up, i don't use babble expert.
I don't know, I wondered. Not sure if mrP is back home already. I know she wanted to wait for you to be back so you could hear/read all the reactions :)
joso, i'm all for a day off from work and a great meal! best kinds of holidays in my book. :-)
hello everyone :)
that was nice of her, not sure i want to see all the reactions! :-)
hi mrp!!
Hi Mrp

I missed chatting with you all... and you sprite, I missed recording with you.... SORRY! The tickets work very well!!
oops... sorry to jump you like this... go talk with Fran, much more important :D We will chat later
don't worry about me sprite, let's talk about where mrp is.
where are you mrp?
I do worry about you, Fran... or at least I truly care about you! You have been in all our minds and hearts so much while you were away.
am in Forster NSW.... visiting the beachhouse
I have lots of photos to share when I get back :)
ah, that sounds great
sounds great mrp! sprite, i truly felt all the caring from my babble friends. you guys are the best!!
Good morning all. Very grey here today.
hi Frances!
hi Frances
am lost without my babble buddies!! I have my friends on the phone and in my neighbourhood, but they are not babble crazed like me :B so is nice to have the familiar babblers to chat to
best of all words :)
errrr I was looking at the pe5, freudian slip. I meant: best of all worLds.
Hi mrp. Beachhouse - are you allowed into the water. Just thinking the salt would be beneficial.
I have to go take my litle girl to her very 1st ever morning at playschool. Will be back later. *Hugs and waves to all*
thanks sprite, missed that one somehow. :-)
oh, good luck Liz! Make it easy on her ;)
wow liz! remember, you have to leave her there. you can't stay and play.
yes frances! I wish itwas warm enough!!
grin Fran... what can I say... it caught my eye.
I hope so Sprite. Fran - I have to stay until she turns two in December because of the insurance. Not sure if thats a good thing or not though really!
if you have to, you don't have to worry if it is the best, lol. Just go and enjoy... she will!
ahh, sort of a playdate then, well, have fun!
I'm going to stay in the background and see how she gets on :) Bye all, have fun babbling
*poof*
poof was in the grid yesterday, lol. And oops too.
must go assist with the kids!! bbs :D
later mrp!
bye mrP *huggggg* and for Lickety too!
two of our favorite chat words sprite. good thing the grid was short.
was thinking just that, Fra!
*Fran
hmm, missing two Ks, any strange ones? (not that all Ks aren't strange anyway)
no, the Ks were all normal (as Ks go). Do you have the 6/7 combo?
yes
are they all KE and KHs?
then maybe the 2 Kh4 words?
yes they are
Hi Fran - bet its the 5/6 combo - around the 6/7 combo
10 Ke. I think you are missing the ke6 minus last letter, and the plural of that one.
thanks lynxxx and sprite, that's probably it.
lol lynxxx... thought the same thing
yay! got them, haven't seen that spelling/word before.
Ks done... always a great feeling, Fran!
it is!
an Irish peasant, esp. a crude or boorish one.
that was the definition - Haz should appreciate it!
thanks for that, lynxxx
that's why i don't know it, haven't met any Irish peasants!
I have, but none of them were crude or boorish
yes, they all seem rather civilised to me!
:-)
and off to penalty box with lynxxx :P
you'll have to join her sprite, you said a word earlier. :-)
gladly! I put many goodies there this morning :D
lol - didn't even have it - thanks Sprite!
oops, you just doubled your time. ;-)
owwww true! I didn't even see it! Thanks Fran LOL
LOL
it's going to be hard to avoid those words today.
with 386 we are bound to make mistakes... better make some fresh coffee he4 in the penalty box :)
and fireworks!
yay sprite!!!
my goodness Sprite - you really are quite amazing - chatting and finding words - Congratulations!
thanks :) It is not a tough grid, though big... and it is fun :D
that's what i was thinking lynxxx, you'd think the chat would slow her down just a little. :-)
Queen of Multitasking
hey, some people finished before me!
but you didn't start at the flip did you - ?
not at the flip, no... had to take care of kids first and read with them. But started right after that.
I am afraid the video is not loading today... :(
well, i'm glad you take time to chat spritey, wouldn't be the same without your company.
aw Fran, that is so sweet of you to say so! I love you guys's company so much, I cannot keep quiet :)
no, the video is not working. If anyone is still around when mrP comes back, would you please tell her?
will do Sprite
if i'm here i will tell her sprite.
can I he4 out with any clues before I go?
and thanks :)
thanks sprite, i'm not quite to half, too soon for he4. :-)
I'm still working on the second row! so still got a long way to go - TY anyway Sprite
way too soon indeed, lol. And I know lynxxx loves to struggle on by herself, so I think I will be off th4. Had a grand time again with you guys. Thanks :)

I am stuck on the se 7/28. Can anyone give me the third letter, or a clue?
ok, I will come back later for taht word
se7 - sounds like the fictional character with the large nose
thanks broll
yes, thanks broll
Elaborate, broll?
a fellow who got someone else to do his wooing
ty broll
hello hello again :)
hey Mr P!!
hiya mrp
I am loving this grid cause the kids are seeing all the little words and I can concetrate on the bigger ones!
hi une and moviem!! good to see you :)
you too! Sounds like the healing is moving right along . . . ?
it is going well! was given the all clear to remove the cast during home time... so have been enjoying that! But pain is still enough that I am functioning with half the pace
anyone found any 8's or the 9 yet?
not yet, MM
I have some...
me neither
8's - ap, le, sa ta. an9
sa8/50
le8/45
the 9 is eluding me tonight
it must be a word I have never ever seen! LOL
it's a weirdo. Start out with an 6/24, chop off the last letter, then add a very large cat.
thanks for the clues . . . looking looking looking :-)
an 9.60 -- add definite article and an african beastie that roars
an9/60 picnic pest + male + big cat
wow, thanks, broil
*broll
what the heck is that??
an9 - a luminous, white spot occasionally appearing at the sun's elevation but in the opposite part of the sky
fantastic !!
one of the things i like about babble is the things and new words i learn - very hard to get most of them into everyday conversation though11
now let's see you work that into a conversation goday! LOL
*today
une, I read 3 books in the last 2 days!! have had an overload of words!! so this grid is looking spooky
words spilling from ears and hair follicles??
oh indeed!! I need to see a movie to sort me out!
something silly and mindless? :-)
oh why couldnt this be tomorrows grid when i have the day off
jonathan kellerman books... Monster, Billy Straight & Conspiracy Club... all thrillers
mrp..how do you have the time?
speaking of words, this morning I'm volunteering at the library--helping organize and display books, CDs, tapes, etc. for their fundraising sale!
oh, I love thrillers and those were good ones
if you volunteer you get a $10 credit at the sale--woohoo! :-)
good on you une!! you are a star!
lifelong book freak--love working at the library!
I would love to do community work! Will try for it after I heal
oh man, I have pain today! can't get comfortable to save my life! and... have to get the kids to bed... bbs
also help out at Humane Assn . . . also an animal freak--helped find a home for a Persian kitty this weekend AND convinced a friend of mine that it's time for her to adopt a dog!
take care, Mr P . . . so sorry
ok, back and luke is in bed.... maddison is watching 'spongebobsquarepants'... and I continue to battle the grid for half an hour before bed :B
afternoon everyone :-)
hiya katie
hi katie
Morning Babblers
Hi Babblers
Hi Srabbs
Hi Nono--enjoying autumn? It has been gorgeous here.
hello everyone!
so far yes Scrabbs, it has been nice and warm
not much color yet tho
hi Annie
Hi Brooklyn Annie
hi scrabbler and nonon
hi non scrabs annie :))
hi mrp!
hi mrP!
Hi MRP. I was at a party with someone from Toowoomba recently, but she didn't know you. I thought all Aussies know Mr President, LOL. How are you?
Toowoomba is a way from me LOL! am doing ok thanks! :))
am glad to be babbling after my break... the inlaws have let me have full access to the internet again! They are lovely and I need the break! :)
Are you typing with one or two hands?
scrab... am out of the cast!! 3 month later!!!.... so typing with 2 hands but making heaps of mistakes cause I aint used to it
But do you have a splint? Are you permitted to move your elbow and shoulder?
you're doing very well mrp.... heck i make typing mistakes all the time and have no real excuse LOL
Scrab...when can a baby start cereal?
The doctor in me is constantly looking out for fellow Babblers.
I am permitted to do that!! I start physiotherapy on tuesday!! yayayayayayay
a baby can start cereal at 3-4 months
2 mos and eating all the time
my shoulder is frozen unfortunately, but it will be fine by xmas according to the specialists
chiley, is your baby 2 months old?
grandson
At six months babies should start cereal--extra iron is needed in their diet. Before that it is optional. For the first six months babies just need breastmilk or formula. Some really big babies may need cereal at 5 months.
ok...he is just always hungry so I was wondering
scrab, I would think 3 months for some babies... not just cause they are big, but cause they need it to keep satiated. My daughter started at 3 months as she was screaming from reflux and the cereal helped her food stay down
Is he breastfed or formula-fed?
formula
chiley, 2 months is too early... the mum could start complimentary bottle feeding or revert to bottle feeding entirely if she feels she is not giving him enough suppliment
We add cereal early only for really big babies (>14 lbs) and for the pukers, to thicken their feeds in their stomach.
ah, the formula at 2 months needs to be upped to 120ml
At 2 months most babies are drinking 24-28 ounces/day.
Or 840 ml/day
Ok...he's taking about 4 oz at a time every 3 hours or so
his mom & dad are sick so he stayed with me last nite
my son was a big drinker... I breast fed him and then complimentary fed him about 60 ml extra after 2 months... so don't know what that is.... but by 4 months, he was on 180ml per feed, every 4 hours. He started with cereal, then apple and pear after that and his intake increased as needed
He may be going through a growth spurt. Is he a puker?
How exciting, chiley! What is his name?
oh yes!! growth spurts require so much more! lol!! and more sleep too!
sometimes
chiley, better than all the time :)
weighed 5 lb 20 at birth..now 10 lb 11 oz
that's 5 lb 10 oz....
I'm holding him so I can't type very well
He doubled his weight in just 2 months. Was he premature?
he is doing very well then! :)
yes....6 wks
Premies show rapid catch-up growth, so that is what he has done.
hi all.my bairn was 3weeks prem and was hungry all the time.i couldn't breastfeed as i didn't have anything to givr her.at 1month we were hacing to put a spoonful of cereal in her milk as although she'd drink all the milk youd give her it wasn't staying down,so we'd give 6oz's and a spoonful of cereal and then she was going longer for feeds instead of every 2-3 hrs.
Good morning everyone Housework will just get a lick and a promise today with 386 to do!
lilliann, feel for you!!
Hi Lil and Mom.
hi mom! :)
hello MrP. Good to see you

Me too Annie, I was just saying housework will just get a lick and a promise. :)

Yep, with a tennis match and then work til 8 I will not finish this one. I have found 111 quite quickly however, so dive in.
oh good, then it is promising, Scrabbler
Yes, so far, it is a fun grid
I am destined to sleep about an hour ago, but my eyes won't close. Will do abit more then head to bed
Bunny Callie is nudging my legs--she wants some attention.
I am working my way down from the top. I am at the T on the second row and have found 62 words so far...Bunny Callie!!!
i'll try mr p!my bairn is off school at the moment as the schools are amalgamating and they are moving all the furniture and things so she's helping me as she likes to babble aswell!!
You go one letter at a time, Annie? I just type whatever my eyes see.
I am working my way from the bottom of the alphabet, have gone through to the O's... 195 left and time to cuddle my daughter. bye all (((hugs)))
Maybe I should have a system, Annie.
Yes, scrabbler, without the list, I find that easier to do...one letter a t a t i m e
Bye, MRP, and good night, Maddision.
Bye MrP. pleasant dreams
bye bye MrP
bye mrp....give maddison a cuddle from me too
bye mrp.sleep well
night night all! thanks! love to you all :)
I have to check e-mail---BBS
later, scrabbler
I can't do one letter at a time. If I see an ending like the aps today, I have to try and find all that match that.
bye Scrabbler
bye scrabbler.
I am so easily distracted :)
i'm like scrabbler,i type what i see 1st and then i go through the columns.
Mom, yes, if I see something that will work for more than one word, I also type all that I can find, I am not that disciplined...also I will probably not see it later so easily
the trouble i have is i start reading the chat, then talking myself and then i never get any words done!!
:) Lilliann
ah, the chat, great distraction and so much fun
love the chat.
where is Scarlet, by the way?
she will have a fit with the size of the grid on a Monday

only took 140 words to do it LOL
like scrabbs i type them as i see them the first time thru
lillian, I rarely finish but I have a great time searching...no list, but I do finish the small ones
I am back, but Mom is talking at me on the phone.
i normally end up with the list towards the end,but one day i'll do it without!!hopefully!!
say hi to mom
I would never finish without clues
my bairn says hello as she's helping me.i think i need it!!!
Clues are the greatest, I love Haz's clues...
Hi Lil's bairn
I haven't had a chance to get a word in yet.
lill, say hello to the little one
she's got more words than me so far!!
lol scrabbs your mom's a talker
lill, a future babbler!
My Mom is a champion chatterbox and interrogator.
A true Mom, scrabbler
aye,annie,i'm starting her young!
she normally gets the obscure ones which leaves me the easy ones, and i still can't find those half the time!!
Good for you, and her, Lil.
My mother is still going strong.
I'm back, just sent sweetie out the door to work
my mam's like that, good thing i have free minutes to france as we can be on for over an hour.

Scarlet, I was bereft and turned the game off....about an hour later turned the game back on and the score was 8-3...how about that!
Hi Scralet
Hi, Lady, and thank you for some great food sites' addresses!~
Thats ok

Annie... you must never give up hope... you're not a Met fan... hee-hee
Hope springs eternal
Especially in the hearts of baseball lovers!! Wouldn't it be something to come down to Yanks/Sox... AGAIN?
Scarlet, that would be a great Series
If i vanish its cause my 'timer' ran out. I am lap top and its not plugged in as im timing my self as its late
Phenomenal, AnnieB... I have a feeling that the World Series will be Colorado-Boston, but I've been wrong before... What I love most is that even the so-called "experts" are often way, way wrong!
BBL - bye for now
Later, montreal, and Happy Thanksgiving!
finally halfway.. now I can get the list. bye montreal
Scarlet, I think you are right re: Colorado - Boston....sorry, Rhett, will be rooting for the Rockies, yankee fan and all that here...

Oh, Annie... we are in a true quandry here... Our local team, the Asheville Tourists are the launch pad for the Rockies, and after the curse was broken in 2004, we have enjoyed the surge of the Sox... so, we want to see a knock-down, drag-out battle of the greats... well, wait and hope...

Why not herin?
The fiddling with server on large grids. Never happens on small pissy take 5 min to do Grids. I love you DR G but you have bad timing
lol
resetting the server doesnt take long and it must be necessary or he would not do it
It is what it is. Thanks for all your efforts Dr_God.
Ty Dr. God
Ok ok my bad. Maybe the cranky part of my brain needs to remove the foot before it speaks
rae reminded me. Happy Columbus Day to all our American posters!
lol
*Inserts hesitation chip into Lady's brain*
same to you Lori
ty Lori and Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends
Dr_God meets and exceeds all my Babble fantasy expectations, i would never bite the hand that feeds.... :-)
Thanks, LoriP and all... no mail, no banks, no noise... hee-hee
Thanks Scarlet. I had my foo happening that is all
LOL, Lady....
herin, I am flexible like that too, but I can fit both feet in my mouth. LOL
I have that too Marjetta. Back on my foo now
thank you - we will try to have worthy celebrations of the guy who wasn't the first... or even the first european... to discover america and introduce diseases that killed off many natives who had no immunity, later displacing them from their lands. but hey, any excuse for a day off is fine by me!
No comment, Marjetta....
We would have a hrad time explaining at outpatients why Herins foot is configured like thta, in her mouth and all.....
LOL LORI
And why Marjetta can fit both... LOL
LOL
hurshy, you are too funny
I am also in the dark as im in bed and himself is sleeping and the cat is going nuts at the door as i just walked in
sorry marjetta, i'll try to tone it down
hurshy, I have a shirt that says Columbus Discovered America.....NOT!
I thought it was great, not need to tone it down
I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land. ~Jon Stewart
I am getting a t-shirt made up My Inner Child Murdered My Responsible Adult
to be fair, however, they didn't KNOW that they would bring over diseases for which the natives had no immunity. so that part, at least, was unintentional.
And I am a member of the Submuloc society...for those who look at Columbus in another way!
That one is good herin
my goodness marty is in a mood!
Being a responsible adult is over rated. I thought that Thanks giving was the same day in AMerica and Canad but i did read the thing about it so im learning new things today
American Thanksgiving is in Novermber herin.
Ok
we couldn't do that herin - we already have a long weekend in november
We lacked a holiday in October, so that's why we chose that month.... :)
I did read about it while looking up my icon But my brain went oh they are the same month
Thats why i like icons i learn new things
The US Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday 9I think)
yeah...cause they have "black friday" right after
Dang now i want Pumpkin Pie
yep always the 4th thursday in november
yup, the fourth Thursday of November.
Ahh, thank ye. I was guessing 3rd thursday. Good thing I kept quiet.... :)
and considering the dollar right now...might be worth a trip south on that day...
Hi HJ
Black Friday, isn't that the kickoff to the Nightmare before Christmas? :-)
yes lori it is
this dollar thing is just not fair, rae, for years we could count on Canada being the only place where the American Dollar was worth something...
I've seen news items about it. Quite a phenomenon really. That's a little too intense for my anti shopping habits.
well I have a "na na na boo boo" for you, HJ :P
i avoid shopping on that day and the day after Christmas as well!
ever since that friends episode where they were stuck at the gas station, part of my brain really thinks "PLEH" is a word.
the crowds are just too much
this grid is too much! oy!
Can I say as an Aussie competitive dollar at the moment is bad for my wallet. So many books on Amazon i want but have been unable to afford
There were some strange new words in this grid for me, that's for sure.
herin: it won't be long before the aussie dollar is better than the greenback too
could someone clue the last wa6/7?
Thats a odd thought.
I cant help with clues im still giving the grid a good wacking
wa = plural of battle + Pepe ** Pew!
thanks lori
y v w
I am trying to finish my least fav letters before sleep
now i have 6 grey boxes, thanks lori!
7! woohoo!
go hursh
pe6/36?
if meep isn't a word then what was the roadrunner always saying?
True thinking the same thing
Herein, try bigwords.com for your books. They have new and used and compare a lot of sites.
pe = as *** instructions + ***lele
name that proper noun! sweet old lady detective
thanks, took a minute and I even own a ***lele
Thanks Marjetta
LOLOL Harp
I went back to the an's to see if I could figure out the three around the an 60 and am lost my last one is the herb/fennel.. any help on where to look after that?
how about the pe 5/12's that come before it?
play us a song mistress ***lele lady !
an + spanish cheer
pe + waterme***
pe 5/12 = male genitalia
Marjetta our problem is alot of our role playing books are expensive and available second hand only
thanks, tow more p's. ph6/7 ?
ph + m**th** cigarettes
thanks, (this grid started out so normal.....)\
Yah. It lulls one in to a false sense of security.
gl7?
a thing that gl5s - like a light
how bout the other gl7?
gl + double vowel + a male
well why dinja say there were two in the first place? :)
Loads of made up words in todays grid! :-)
I know the feeling herein, we role play too
thanks, um, because Im not awake?
you had me feeling all proud and then *poof* it was gone
spam is too a word!! *stomping feet in outrage*
many e-words have not yet made it into the dictionary
i found an 8 i found an 8!
Yea hursh!
herein, I have order lots of books from bigwords and always had good luck with them. I like the way they compare so many sights. I am an avid reader and in grad school, so anything that helps is great.
phantom: shrapnel
Thank you i will give it a look over
you are most welcome. what role playing books are you looking for anyway?
Mostly Old Dungeons and Dragon stuff I have a list some where of what he would like
do you think role playing is a response to the de-masculinization of men in our society?
Some of the older ones are hard to find, others are easier. Ebay used to have some of those, I don't know if they still do or not.
have you tried ebay, herin?
Hurshy my B.f has been Role Playing since he was 8 so id so no most boys i know use it to escape, wives kids etc
the fact that he's been doing it since he was 8 in no way eliminates the possibility, and escape is... compatible with it.
I have been playing since I was 16, and my husband started when he was about 10
I have tried ebay but their shipping cost is expensive if you have to ship off site. I will try a specific site soon. It is coming up to the ever looming closer christmas
the shipping charges bug me too :S
We play online now. We love playing dungeons and dragons online. It is really good.
No he is very much a boy :)
of course he is
what i am saying is that if males have a need to feel manly, and society does not give them an outlet for that, they might role play.
mine is too herein
you wouldn't see knights role-playing because they were living it.
an 9 clue
Raelite what bugs the crap out of me with ebay is my 40c paperback costs $10 USA in shipping. The other day i bought a hard back novel for $2.50 and then add shipping and exchange and it went to about $18
is it a combo word
I think it has more to do with the era the role playing represents and the escapism
an = Sing the National an***m + a **** roars
No Hursh people have always told stories. The boys i know and i will only say it about these boys is that role playing has always been about the story and the adventure.
Can i say RESHAG is a word
well that was easy ... lol
thanks a lot Lori
LOL ruru, a totally everyday word...... :/
That is what it is for me too herein, i love a good story
My friends rp method is ' Sit down kids Uncle is telling a story and if your good you can join it' Its freaking great hes an awesome story teller

It is really cool Scarlet, Dragoncon is one of the largest conventions in the US. It is everything sci-fi, fantasy, anime, outer space, film and TV. It is huge.
ra 6 = same first 3 letters + I **te re words + 2nd vowel
Herein, I have met a Klingon named Rick. He usually goes to the ten forward party on Sunday nights.

ap8?
Going pro helps you in knowing which tiles yield words, but today's is so big that it's not that much help. Are you using Lickety's list for help?
ap - ap plus a description of the King of the jungle, with a starting emphasis on his masculinity.
hello all
Hello peri.

Is Spangle very active as well?
She's 7 now and is more sedate than she used to be. Having said that, she was never allowed to jump up on people and has to stay on the ground - no sitting on chairs or anything.
385 and fireworks!
She's active when she's out for a walk etc, but is quite happy to snooze in the house, or follow me about to see what I'm up to.

the guy in your icon? =)

hursh,e and holidayr** and you say 10 hail mary's for last 3 letters.hi all.
his name wouldn't begin with m would it
it would!
Hi Lilliann
hi preethi.
what's a holidayr**?

I was wondering. ha. =) thanks, though, lil!

wtg hursh.
ok, I'm going to go be productive. later peoples.
what do you call the people who look after holiday makers on package holidays?
i think redshoes just implied that playing babble wasn't productive.
no,the people who meet and greet us at airports and look after us on holiday are called holiday r***.
I dint get the er clue
umm...no... that's not it!
got the 1st holiday part but not the 2nd
um, i don't know if we call them anything in particular
hosts or hostesses, maybe?
sorry,not good at clueing.
I don't think we have holiday makers in the US. ha.
(by the way it took me a bit just to figure out holiday makers and package holidays)
same here, don't get the last of the er clue
I got it Lilliann.. Thanks
oh... the last part of the clue is "missing the mark" or a transgression.
a holiday in the US is a day that is designated to commemorate something. what you call a holiday, we call a vacation.
when you do this, you go to church to pray.
yw preethi.
ereps
(your clue was wonderful, lilli, I got it straight away :)
and when people go on a vacation to a resort or something, i don't think they think very much about the people who work there. they're just staff.
thanks, figured it out, for some reason i kept thinking it was a 6 not a 7
add two more letters preethi. ha.
add two more letters preethi. ha.
although we do have travel agents to help in the planning.
but see if you go on holiday with Club 18-30 or Club Med or Ski America lol. what do you call the people who work at the resorts who help you go on trips, organise events etc
sorry!
and concierges and that sort of thing.
not that most people use a travel agent.
that's the problem with having different nationalities,as we have different sayings and meanings.sometimes i don't get the american clues.the other day i was talking about a pram and t t didn't know what i was talking about.
i don't know, i don't know anybody who goes on those sorts of vacations.
pram is a carraige - used in USA also
thanks for the p word lil. =)
ata ... i think we call those people interfering ba*****s
problem is that no one takes babies for walks in carraiges anymore
t&t calls it a stroller.
strollers, people use strollers. esp jogging strollers.
ty redshoes.
no pram is more of a coach carraige - not a stroller
well, we have actual event coordinators, activities coordinators or concierges. I think that's what we would call them.
ok, leaving for real this time. laters.
right, i'm saying, that is why people don't use carriages, bc they are using strollers instead.
so hursh, when americans go abroad, you don't have people to sort out things.do you not have package holidays?
what about for a tiny baby, you can't put in strollers? if what I'm thinking is a stroller is one
true hurshy - i had a pram for y kids and a stroller for shoppig etc
no, they just yell loudly, say "HEY I'M AMERICAN!" and expect stuff to be sorted out
we do, but we look upon the people who go on that sort of vacation as lame.
saphyre, off to the penalty box!
to me, a stroller is a pushchair.
The strollers we have lie flat like a pram
we don't all do that ata! some of us just prefer to make our own plans and not be herded about like cattle.
Well, some types of strollers; the umbrella stroller doesn't lay down flat
and phand too, to the penalty box!
new strollers do lay flat for infants - but it's a different era I guess
i must be lame then because i go loads.infact that's mostly the british holidays.
DOHJ!
DOH!
but you're not american, so it's not lame for you.
it's just, you know, that independent spirit we've got
I put chocolates and macadamias in the box for you both.....
i wish we could do it like you but then it ends up being really expensive
hi Annie
The Pr 4 is just not a practicle thing, it only lasts a few months. The stroller lasts years.
*snerk* americans independent on holidays??
i dunno lilli, you'd save loads on airfare over us because you're so much closer to europe
i said SOME of us, ata :)
hiya saphyre
your joking!a flight to france can cost over £300!
interesting, cos I'd consider europeans / brits much more independent than americans on holidays. you only ever see americans herded round tour guides over here ;)
but you can take the train instead :)
Yikes - too many wprds tonight!!!!! Oh well going into the grid - speak to you all laer.
yes but those are the LAME americans.
i was going to fly to france last year to see my mam and actually,it was going to cost more than that, because i couldn't fly direct.
I don't do tours - I like seeing the real stuff not just the tyical siteseeing stuff
ahhhh lol :)
Evening all Ata was looking for you just now :)
typical
since europe is so far, most of us poor americans have to take our vacations in the US. like, i went to a bed & breakfast in a quiet vermont town. see... saphyre knows what i mean!
Hello FMitch
i guess people do go to the caribbean and mexico too.
hi fm :)
Hi Preethi, I see you have a flag now.
we don't do tours, we like to hire a car depending on which country we're going to and look around for ourselves as we like to go off the beaten track.
Hi all
I am stuck in the re words
welcome back Peri
(and btw don't you also see asians being herded about on tours? i did!)
personally, I would like to tour abroad without being herded around as well. who better to ask about what is there than the locals? and they always know where the good food is at. Exploring is half the fun
hi again peri - not at the re's yet
Yes FMitch..Im actually excited abt it:)
ohhhh yes. Japanese and Americans :)
hi peri.
well i guess i have not quite understood still, then, what a package holiday is
do you just mean that your airfare and hotel and rental car are all included in one price?
Noun 1. package holidaypackage holiday - a tour arranged by a travel agent; transportation and food and lodging are all provided at an inclusive price
a package holiday is holiday and flight all in one price.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Package_h oliday
ah, see, i think here mostly people can't afford travel agents, and we do book packages, but we do it ourselves online or whatever.
You could loosly categorise a cruise as a package holiday.
but you can do that through the internet without deling with a travel agent
at travelocity or priceline or what have you
you can do both, and get whichever is cheaper
and if you don't use a travel agent, there isn't one "holiday rep", there's just someone at the rental car agency to give you your car, and someone at the hotel to check you in...
Travel Agnets are a dying breed due to the availability of all types of holiday via the net.
you can have bed and breakfast, room only, all inclusive and i can't think what you call the otherone, you get all your meals but have to pay for drinks.
very true fmitch
dull board
FULL board!
help with both re6/24 please
see i kept thinking you meant the tour type vacation where everything is planned for you.
we use direct holidays on the net as it is alot cheaper, but you still get a rep at the other end.
package holidays can be that, but they dont have to be
i think maybe the thing is that we just don't talk about vacations in terms of whether we got a package deal or not. we just talk about where we're going.
The last time I dealt with a travel agency they screwed up my trip horribly
can a get a U clue or 3 pls?
that's it ata.i have a terrible memory.not good for a word game!!!
we don't think of those categories, package holiday vs. non-package holiday, i guess to us that would not be a major distinction.
now, with-kids and without-kids, that would be a major distinction for a lot of people
peri, I only have one, re6/24: a cartographer is doing the work again.
lol hurshy - that is true
Good afternoon/evening all.
hi again haz

The only positive thing about Fisherman's Friends is the name.
Ok guys.. Im gonna hit the bed.. Will see you all tomorrow.. Happy babbling!
The zinc, the vitamin C mega-doses, and the netipot is a specially spouted pot for nasal cleansing when sinus infections and colds cause impaction and pain...
can anyone help with the se 7/28
I keep saying Im not infectious but I can't shout
Fisherman's Friend where?
Night Preethis, see you tomorrow probably
Good night Preethi!
well scarlet, i have found that once the thing has really developed, it doesn't work so well - well the zinc does make the throat improve faster - but that if i get it right when i feel the first smidge of a tickle, it doesn't get worse.
Night everyone!
This the most ultradecrepedarian 386 word grid I have ever encountered
ag6 please
Fisherman's Friends are lozenges, allegedly to aid throat problems. They defy description.
ultradecrepedarian??
You are fortunate and highly alert to your body, then, hurshy
i give up - be back later
!
mac...does it help you to know it is a pepper?
Oh... I just vacationed at a place in maine where there was a restaurant called Fisherman's Friend
se 7 28 - a type of ham (italian)
lol, this conversation is getting too funny

I see that sinus problems are in the chat today. I buckled this morning and got some antibiotics for it.
hey gang
it's it "ball" like "gal" or "ball" like "wall"?
The netipot let me down this time.
Hi Feather
FIber, I've gotten to the point where I get the antibiotics in advance when I think I'm heading towards a sinus infection
and which syllable gets the emphasis?
oh - ball as in gal
bally as in rally
not sure about the emphasis
Hi Fiber! So the old netipot didn't work. *Distance hugs may help*
if anyone's doing the october book club, see my profile for the link to the message board

I did them earlier Scarlet when no one was looking, I'm not that much of an exhibitionist, honest.

Hello, capone! LOL, Haz. I love Russian/Irish words...
Still there, FMitch?
hello all - ohhh Haz I was there a few nights ago!!
And Hirtle Toot. Yes, it exists.
FMitch tumbled out of here in a last-minute fury of end over teacups, Haz.
Hello candy - back up in the Antrim place name pronounciation!
she's lurking so she doesn't have to pronounce things :P
Hirtle Toot........ rolls nicely off the tongue.
Ah well, we'll just have to give her remedial lessons.
first cu6,24?
FM says hi but is too busy studying to be interested in our unimportant conversation
Doesn't it, Scarlet?
We have some very strange place names here
Lovely taste...
Hi, candy!
Hi Scarlet
deb, I could use some help on CU words, too.
Nebnett Thrubwell is the best place name ever
No way, Ata!
oh yes :D its near where I used to live
cu and ra4 not many of em
Wonderful.... and I thought Toad Spur was in the running...

Unimportant conversation? I'm storing these insults up to be dragged out for future brooding.
Little Piddle is good too :)
yvw
hi all
Little PIddle! Hahahhahahha
Insults, Haz? What have I missed?
I drove past a sign for a place called Bunny today - how cute is that
Atalante claims that FMitch is too busy studying to be interested in our unimportant conversations.
awwww katie!
And Wyre Piddle, Lower Piddle etc.
Hurt, I am. Hurt.
Lost is a place in Scotland
OH, dawns the light, Haz... well, you'll take care of that little oversight when the time is appropriate, won't you? Aw, Bunny!
I know these places Jac, where are they?
where's Bunny, katie?
finished the @£¢¤¬¦&?%$ re words...
It's between Nottingham and Leicester if you are stupid enough to follow your Sat Nav, however could actually be anywhere it took me so long to drive it!!
There's an old verse of place names around here: Upton Snodsbury, Peopleton and Crowle, Wyre Piddle, North Piddle And Piddle in the Hole
LOL! I'll look out for it next time I'm nearby!
Well done, montreal... I am still struggling for more
Lower SLaughter, Lower Slaughter
Upper Slaughter even
katie - worcs.
there is a small hamlet down here called Slutshole. I kid you not
They're starting to sound like the place names in Midsomer Murders.
Hi - we have a place in the north-east of England called 'No Place' and another called 'Pity Me'
is there a beutiful downtown "Upper Slaughter" ?

pe6.36 old fashioned word for a mans wig....4 letter word for vomitting p*** and put in a hesitation sound afeter the p... e*

congrats jac
Thank you.
er7 er + a sales r** + one of the seven deadly ***s
If Canada invaded, we would probably give up, then you would have to rebuild this country
mkg, if it's a 6/36, you got it !
tx lynxxx
Thanks Lynxxx
i know bubba; we would be stuck with bigger problems than we already have...
ty, lynxxx
Yeah, bubba, but we'd have nationalized medical care...
invade us . . . PLEASE!!
we only have 2 rusty submarines !!!!
WE NEED YOU!
That would be great, then it would be rationed. Look at upstate NY there are town with 400 people and 40 MRI centers, so that people from Canada can come and get MRI when then need them, not when the government wants to pay for them
I don't care about your Navy, just hop over the line or come over the falls in a barrel!
I think they are waving a white flag already
it's impossible... but, wait a minute, while your soldiers are all over the place, maybe...
exactly . . . just come on down and ask nicely
montreal i got it.......whew.
Eh, ??
good point bubba...
lol mont r they still in one piece even??
I am looking forward to paying 30% of my income for national health insurance, then having to wait for 6 hours in a clinic.
we DO have a great medical system up here... BUT... there are problems...
My cat's name is in the grid--me6/21
And you are one of the lucky ones, bubba!
stuck on ag 5 and 6......clues for either most welcome
not sure joanne... lol
ag5 limber, moves easily
The porblem is Americans don't realize that the government takes 30% of your income. Most people think that their net income is what they make, they have no idea how much is being taken fromtheir checks before they get. Just wait for the bureacracy that will be formed by national health.
ag5 a + g*** (really happy)
waiting 6 hours in a clinic is nothing bubba - waiting 18 months for an operation...
bubba,
ty lynxxxxxxxgot it.
I lived and worked in France where emergency surgery and a week in the hospital cost me less than a dollar . . .
I can guarantee that the congress will exempt themselves from national health, just like they exempted themselves from social security and medicare
not an easy problem to fix in the US for sure - but reading about the HMOs and how many CANNOT afford health care is also disgusting...
Une, how much taxes did you pay. It is not what you paid for the care, it is the total amount of your income that is spent for theses services
Going now - see you all later. Congrats in adavnce Montreal
at the time, I was making less than $500 a month
bubba, i dont get why someone didnt go to the supreme court about the congress being exempt.....do they pay into the government retirement accounts? i heard they dont.........and that is horrible..........and totally unfair.
my last word the first sp6,24 please
later, lynxxx
tx lyn
maybe we should have a huge public vote on what congress can and cant do..
Une, some family members traveled back to Finland and had some emergencies... two weeks in the hospital, surgery, recuperation, excellent food and not one American penny was spent!
as to nationaly medicine, the hmo's are terrible now as is.............they also limit surgery etc. what a mess.
I know! They even served me Camembert for lunch! LOL
sp6 = place to relax + common english article
how do you play this game?
ty, montreal
bye, lynxxx

ARe you sure that you're attaching each letter to the other, momofmany?
yes, mom, but I only have 2

the letters need to connect Mom
