A real neighborhood barnraising.
How many acres across the street?
to 7 is a chemical with a benzene ring
its the worst word in the grid herin lol
but starts with the to 4/5
It is a pretty fabric, matte black, not actually velvety but has that napped feel to it.
Not sure. Haven't checked it out. Saw the sign. Last year it was 100 acres for 102,000. Don't think it's the same one.
anyone want to clue the ex words? i have the to 's
now I know why I can't find the to 7!
anyway, so I won't be around tomorrow probably at all. A friend is going to come over and we are going to be "girly" for a little bit, sewing, talking -- making cookies if I can get the kitchen clean enough.

hi everyone :)
sleep well, jellen
g'day, mrp!
Hi, mrp
hi mrp
fireworks
I have not so good news... My friend's kangaroo went missing a couple of days ago. She left it with some friends at a farm and the gate was left open... she is gone :( We don't think she is alive... my friend is crying her eyes out. I am going to go visit her now and console her.
maybe you will find her yet
are you able to drive and get about mrp
my find her yet, mrp. my grandparents' dog once went walkabout for 2 months before wandering home.
can't drive for another few months yet.
problem is, it is just a baby... still needs the pouch, and it was hand reared so it can't fend for itself
my friend is so grief stricken :( If you see sprite, please let her know what has happened cause I arranged to meet her online tonight.
i guess you have good reason to fear the worst then
will do, mrp! and that is worrisome.
thanks guys ... see you all later on tonight
i am off now , happy babbling all and mrp i hope some nice person may have rescued little kanga
bye, andree
best w/it mrp.
hello , does anyone watch summer heights high on abc at nine thirt on Wednesday nights?
I am here... what is the matter?
hi spright
sprite
have read back.... I am so sorry, mrP :(
scroll down in chat to see what MrP said, she won't be available tonight
and on a totally other note: I love your granddad's icon, dc! He looks like a gentle yet powerful man.
hm.
ty
his mother alway said "We raised 8 lovely children. Don't know where we went wrong with Dave..."
what an ugly thing to say about a child!
you've never met Dave. He's very good at what he does for a living, not the most personable man i've ever met. I adore the woman he married in April, though.
well, if he survived that with the ability to have such a gentle look in his eyes, I rest my case... he has a lot of power inside.
I am glad he found a loving wife!
yes, he does, and he and i have a fair amount in common. And the neatest people come by his shop.
yes, Bea is his 3rd wife. At this point in his life, he's out lived 2 wives and 2 of his 3 kids. That's a lot to bear.
I think there are worse people to have a lot in common with ;)
that is really tough :(
oh, indeed so!
my sister, her sons and i all went up for his wedding, so it's not like we totally dislike him or never go to see him. :)
started in on the grid yet?
just wrote a message to mrP on Skype, now diving in :)
whoops, small one today :(
yes, some people finished in~30
I bet, this is really small
took me 2 hrs, with interruptions for chatting here and elsewhere
well, not using the list will slow things down too :D
yes, i only dug list out for my lost 5 tonight.
hey, and K-less :D :D
lots of 8 EX words, including an 8, and an obscure TO7 in store for you though.
8 EX words... that should read
lol, I already have the to7, it has been in babble before. Thanks for the ex8, all biggies accounted for
must be a kind of record... fireworks
congrats!
sprite, do you know black-eyed susans? Like a daisy, but yellow petals and black centre?
yes I do
lol @ the video today... nice pick, Fran!
saw the flowers in ur flckr, and they brought the susans to mind. They're a common wildflower here.
I think there are some in my garden somewhere... not wildflowers here, but they are easily sowable.
quite another size than sunflowers though :D
indeed so. someday, i want to see the plains, around Kansas, where sunflowers grow wild.
I have been in France, where they have whole fields with them. I loved that so much :)
the tiny slice of the plains i've seen was starkly beautiful - flat with tall grass, and a rare tree, all the branches pointing east from the westerly winds.
and amazing big sky all overhead. almost like being on the sea, bit it was flowing grass.
wow... sounds so wonderful... and you are a bit of a po4 :)
hm. rereading that, it does have potential. i'll copy it off to my writing journal for future development.
good!
kids off to school smoothly today?
no, they are having a holiday this week, autumn holiday
they have been staying with a friend of mine for 3 days, and tomorrow they will go out camping and canoeing with their dad... today they are mine :)
interesting. we have no fall break like that, though there is one in the Spring.
sounds like a fun week :)
I recently talked with mrP about that... dutch schedules are quite different from US and Aus. Our kids have 6 weeks in summer, usually 2 or 1,5 with Christmas, and several short breaks in between.
well, babble and sudoku done already... guess it is time for me to go plan the rest of the day with the kids :D
until i was 10, school started in July, 9 weeks in, 3 weeks out, 9weeks in, 4 weeks out, 9 weeks in, 3 weeks out, 9 weeks in, 3 weeks out.
enjoy, and i hope your day is wonderful!
I feel a little bit bad about leaving you all alone here :(
eh, i'm thinking on going to sleep soon.
hey you lurkers, can someone come out of the closet and chat with dc on his lonely and boring working night?
oh, and i need to do laundry, should go gather towels and do that.
ah, are you home! That is good :)
i'm off from work today, sprite
i'm here because i choose to be. :) now go have fun with the kids :D
lovely, dc! In that case, I will not feel bad and I will leave the lurkers in peace ;) You too, have a great day / night / whatever.
ciao!
bye Sprite!
hi, lynxxx
Hi DC - my farewell to Sprite was a tad late, didn't read the time correctly
short puzzle, been pretty quiet here tonight
i just spent 5 min observing my towels in the washer through the glass. were i a chaos theorist, it would be even more fascinating, i'm sure.
wouldn't have minded a long one myself, can't be bothered starting a new book
lol DC
the items move differently in the washer than the dryer i noticed, at least in part due to the change in rotational direction of the washer.
well, and the adding, rather than removing, water, too. :)
to7 and ex8, fyi
front loading machine then. what is the point score on the to7 pls. I think I found the 8 b4 you did - I just finished working for a book publisher who distributed worldwide so was easy for me to see
to7/32
TY
since working for Customs, a whole new world of vocabulary has come to the fore for me.
Hi everyone. I'm a struggling Babbler, fairly new but totally addicted...and not very good I'm afraid. +#
Morning all and welcome Marmar :)
DC ..Prior to the book publisher, I worked for a fashion house who imported fabric and later finished goods - mostly from Asia - so have had a fair knowledge of freight & customs. LOL in fact I have just remembered - that clothing company was actually charged with either smuggling or piracy (can't remember which one) by our Customs people. They were not alone, it was quite the done thing at the time!
welcome, marmar, morning, fmitch
Hello Marmar - welcome to the madhouse
hee, interesting, lynxxx :D
Morning FM - how are we this lovely day
Hi ds and lynxxx, very short and fast grid today I see. LOL lynxx, is that the royal We?
so, should i work this toward a po*m or a short story, if poem line 1 goes away: the tiny slice of the plains i've seen was starkly beautiful flat with tall grass, and a rare tree, all the branches pointing east from the westerly winds. and amazing big sky all overhead. almost like being on the sea, but it was flowing grass.
Well I'm alone and feeling very well. And you Queenie?
Oh that is evoative ds, poem definitely and pretty much done.
Nice DC - leave that as is and then continue as a short story - ?
Good thanks lynxxx, coldish day but bright and sunny, Godmother taking me out to lunch so zooming arund getting work things done first.
dc, I had just thought to myself how poetic that line was in your previous post! Lovely!
well Babble is spot on today if you have other things to do - you must have placed an order
ty, lynxxx and marmar, i was leaning that way. I shall entitle it Sunflower, and likely add a tad bit before finalizing.
Good selectio nof words in the grid but we must keep Haz away from the po6/21 or there will be trouble *grin*
FM you do like to get your tup pe5.14 in when she's not here - no wonder you get into trouble!
She will get me back later no worries :)
mmmm... soon as the cat gets off me, gonna have a glass of po4/5 as a nightcap.
cat, dryer, drinking, mmm hope DC doesn't get too bored
LOL
po4, po6, po6 all alcoholic beverages!
"the ro4.4 of all evil"
sure enough, though the 1st two do have non-alcohol usages.
lol
huh no po4 onhand, only sherries, so Captaz Andrés instead, anyone else like some? I've some Bristol Cream also, if you'd rather.
any po4.5 in a storm will do - I'll have the sherry TY - sweet?
Somehow not quite right at 10.20am but thanks anyway dc.
light side of sweet, yes, lynxxx *Passes glass*
TY
now, if only that there were were some bonbons to go with. Alas, cannot have everything (all of the time).
Cheers chaps and chapesses, I toast you with my morning coffee :)
very late flip!
cheers!
hello peeps!
Hi Fran - just in time for a drink
hi, fran, would you like some cream sherry, or coffee?
Aloha Fran
i have great timing. :-)
hi fm, dc and lynxxx!
i'll have sherry of course
*passes a glass of Captaz Andrés varietal*
thank you, cheers!
¡salud!
hooray - I found a word! only took 15 minutes - the sherry must have helped
and another - whoopee - I'm on a roll!
go lynxxx go!
wtg, lynxxx!
I must away for a while, happy babbling :)
later FM!
bye FM - enjoy lunch too
great pic of your granddad dc!
yes it is, from his business website: http://www.rocksnchips.com/ He runs one of the i think it's now 6 lapidary shops in North America.
hi all just got a handful of minutes to spare - popping in briefly
cool!
hi liz!
wb, liz, busy day, eh?
good morning Liz
one of those mad dashing about days DC
hi Fran, Lynxxx
who is in your icon liz?
there, posted poem to my writing blog, linged it from my regular blog, and pimped Babble to boot.
he was my Great Grandfather Fran 1882 - 1954
nice picture...i wish i had digitized pictures of my older relatives.
I have lots of mine Fran from doing my family tree over the last twelve years or so
woo hoo! found the 8 by myself
i met 8 of my 12 great-grandparents, Two died before i was born, two were estranged. Two divorces account for the number. I meaningfully knew 5 of them.
yay fran!
a veerry nice picture Liz - did you have it restored in any way?
No Lynxx that one was just scanned as it was
that's amazing dc, i only knew my two grandmothers and only one grandfather.
Wow DC I didn't know any of my greats
same here - no greats and only 3 grands. Your family is long-lived DC? your dad looks quite young too
yes, i was noting the dates you mentiond and diffed with your age. Generations in my case ar 20-25 yrs, your family's appear longer.
that's my dad's dad at about age 77 in the picture today. He looks about the same today; he's now 83
My family seem to either be very long lived or die young with no in-betweens. Two of my Grandparents lived well into their 90's and the other two died in their 50's
and yes, mostly long-lived 85-100 or so is normal. Though others, like my father and his mother died in their 40s.
good genes then DC - lucky you.
how many countrues go onto babble
quite a few kid, you can check the flags in who's online
Anywhere you can get internet access I would guess?
Hi Kid. I think its either 25 or 40 from something I read....but you could start listing the flags that you see beside the pictures
Bermuda is the smallest country i've seen represented, i believe.
I bet I am from the smallest island though LOL
yes, i believe so, liz :)
lol, with 600 people, you're probably right liz
what is the land area liz?
I always knew I was unique ROFL
the island is 3 miles north to south and 1½ miles east to west
yup, that's small. :-)
If you nip over to my blog there is an aerial shot right at the top of the page http://elmontsonline.blogspot.com/
I'm playing from Germany, haven't noticed any other players from there since I started. I love this little Babble global community!
hi marmar! how did you come up with your name?
I love the people here too Marmar
we have a player from Germany, but she just gave birth and i haven't seen her this week.
2sq mi, from what i could find.
We have a player ToadandToadette who, though American, is currently living in Germany. Anumber of other babblers seem to have strong German ties
marmar is what they call flower garlands made in Chuuk, one of the Micronesian islands, that's why i asked.
Its 545 hectares officially DC but I dont know what that converts to in square miles
I haven't seen anyone from Norway either
hello to you in Norway then Hurra :)
hi Hurra!
Aww is that a Moomin?
hi, hurra.
Hi Hurra...lots of flags for Kid to count!
Hi Fran,
liz, if sark island has their own flag you should ask dr_g to load it up for you.
hi to all of you - yes, it's a moomin
yes, someone is logged in from France right now, also i noticed.
Marmar is a childhood nickname (real name Mary) given to me by my five brothers!
cute marmar. :-)
Maybe my nickname will come up in a grid! Now I know what it means...
heh, anyone call you that in real life anymore, maramar?
What a lovely nickname if it really means flowers
bostonmermaid babbles from france, but she doesn't chat much.
unfortunately enable doesn't speak chuukese, marmar is not a valid word. :-(
Fran yes we have our own flag. We are self governing!
liz, you should scan it and email it to dr_g (like he has nothing better to do)
LOL Will put it on as my icon so you can see it
dc, yes, my brothers still, all the time. It beats the other nickname they called me when I was little..."Moose"
Marmar I have a cat called Moose lol
lol, ah, what i missed out on, not having brothers. :-)
Fran my flag is there now - if you refresh you will see it
what a noble flag!
are those dragons?
leopards
thanks liz, it would definitely be unique to have that as your profile flag
which is why there is not a huge population on Sark !
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Fla g_of_Sark.svg
is a large flag of Sark
I have to go now - 8 year old mithering for a turn on the computer!
I saw that one DC - the leopards look kind of scary on there LOL
later liz!
later, liz
mithering! must be a sarkism!
thanks dc, it's very large!
Nah Lynxxx I am originally from Manchester - its a Mancunian expression lol
I have lived here for 20 years though :)
Right , really must go - BBL - have fun all
what does it mean Liz - whining?
bye Liz
yes whinging and pestering lol *poof*
yay! Fs done
is there only 1 6 in the Fs Fran?
yay fran!
2 F6s lynxxx
I finished my typical 30-40% of the words on the grid and have ground to a halt...wish I was as good as you all.
TY
the more you play, marmar, the easier it gets.
marmar, do you know about lickety's babble clues in the links below?
dc, I was hoping that's the case
Fran, I check it out from time to time and it certainly does inspire
it is marmar, you'll start recognizing the weird ones
like yesterday's 'lwei' - an Angolan subunit currency.
I already approach the grid more critically than at first. And I love learning this strange little words. I even get some right when I just start fishing for words. Thats always neat
i always need to be reminded of that one dc, it hasn't stuck.
Hawaiian goose alert!
yes, i found that one early today. :)
YES, like lwei!
good for you dc, i still miss it sometimes
i missed a vegetable to which i'm allergic to nearly the end today. we all have our blind spots :)
what's in it that makes you allergic dc?
and are you allergic to the seed also?
although seed is from a different plant, right?
i'm allergic to pieces of the carrot family, Fran, incuding the seed and vegedtable in today's puzzle, dill seed, but i can eat dill weed, i can't have caraway, can have carrots and celery and carrot greens and celeriac and celery seed.
yes, seed and plant are different.
Morning all
how interesting
hi fordy
morinng, Fordy
so, on that note, i'm off to bed. Pleasant day/afternoon to you all.
night dc!
aloha! {poof}
i'm off also, getting late here. goodnight anyone that's left!
Bye Fran. Hi Fordy
Bye all, we're off to lunch.
bye Marmar - enjoy, see you again soon
i seem to be stuck at 15 words, oh dear :P
I'm stuck on 4 ! and thats way too low to go to the list. Can I help you with anything? or aren't you using list either?
Lynxx do know anything about the ones you are missing?
i'm not using the list, no
I'm still missing to7 which I think starts with to4.5-? the others are only 4s T,P & L which sooner or later I should be able to monkey
do you want a clue for the to?
Yes you are right about the to7 root.the 7 is a chemical word.
TY FM & Lid - I'll battle on - time to kill and no rush
Got it when I tried the other to4.5 - TY
The p's and l's are all straight forwardin babble terms

You have MRP - not sure about the message, I came in just after she had left

I missed my darling sprite again! she must be convinced I am avoiding her!! this is the third time I have stood her up! :(
ooooh, catnip is crazy
Good morning/afternoon all. And a wave to the lurking eirelaV.
hi haz :)
am having trouble with the re's... darn it!
Hello there, mrpresident. I've heard of excuses for not being around, but missing kangaroos is a new one for me.
oh it is awful haz! that darling little thing has gone missing! Tara is beside herself with worry, and she is just crying so much. I do hope by some miracle it is found
I take it that it's the same roo that visited you in hospital?
oh no! not the baby?
i used to have a baby kangaroo when i was a kid
hi all
yes, that poor little baby is all alone in the wild
You Australians have all the privileges, rolin. Recovered from the onlsaught the other day?
rolin, so did I... I loved it so much too. I am feeling awful for my friend.
hi carle :)
Hello carlee.
just waking up... who is missing?
my friend's baby kangaroo. It was being cared for by a friend on a farm and they left the gate open.
morning .... ten mnutes here before running out the door to work
oh that is sad, mrp...is it too young to know how to fend for itself?
Good morning Dorens. Ten minutes should make a start on this teeny grid.
ouch... do kangaroos find theru weay home like a cat?
hi haz....and that was my next question, carlee
they are like dogs actually... I think she went looking for mummy (Tara)... so she is going up there tomorrow again to try and find her
we used to live outbavck..and the roo was wild..but would come to the back door and bang on it til we fed it..
sorry typing one handed...eating breaky
yes, this little roo knocks on the window... I miss her so much :(
can anyone clue me for the 7?
and some of the re's are hurting my ego
to + **st, not love + chemical ending

i don't know.... so far not too tough.... but then again i still have 25 to go
and I'm off.... will be back this evening to finish them up... have a good day (or night) everyone!
is the re5 a fish word?
bye dorens :)
Bye Dorens.
Look to the past for the re5
hi all - my very last word - can anyone help me plz? I need the ex6/33.
Good Morning All
may I please have a clue for the 7 and 8
ex6 - add the seabird
hi peri :))
Yay, fireworks!
wtg fordy :)
congrats fordy
FIREWORKS!!!!!! ty Haz. I looked at that and thought I needed al at the end to make a proper word. I should know by now that babble is weird.
thanks to Haz's clue there which was my last word :)
ex8 - one who sends goods overseas. to7 was clued a little while ago by Dorens
Well done Sandie!
Congratulations Fordy.
WTG Fordy!!!!
thanks got the to7
will loook for the ex8
*look*
*look*
only took me like an hour and a half! as opposed to all day, lol
re5 is still nowhere
thanks Haz, got the ex8
re5 - think of fashions looking back to another era
That 's good, peri.
Yes was a very quick one today. Hmmm that means I'll have to get some work done now!
thanks haz :)
No problem, mrpresident.
I'm trying not to get my last 9 then I don't have to do anything useful
How are you managing to avoid finding them?
by not looking at the grid LOL
Gotta rehearsal this afternoon but I'll pop back later and see if anyone else needs clues. Byeee babblers. Happy babbling.
That's a good way. Otherwise they'll just leap out at you.
Bye Sandie.
bye sandie :)
and the grid's blurring slightly cos FM has given me her cold / flu / tonsillitis thing *again*
Two doses? She needs isolating, that one.
she certainly does!
Has she been around or has guilt laid her low?
I think she was here earlier. Well, I vaguely saw her little sunset pic from over on the sofa when I looked at my laptop
I'll have a little look back over the chat log to see if she's shown her face at all.
Hi all
FM was in earlier
why isn't pootle a word? i do it all the time
hi liz!
Yes, there she was at 3.59. And just when I was about to accuse you of being feverish, Atalante.
I dunno Chris - it definitely should be there :)
Hi Ata
hi liz and chris :)
I have 15 left - methinks I will have to go to the list
hi mrp, liz, haz, ata et al
Hi MrP
She's going out to lunch with her godmother. No time for us unworthies....
Hello liz and Chris.
phew! obviously not *that* feverish! Don't you just love it - when I was freezing cold yesterday, Hobbit wouldn't come near me. Today now I'm boiling hot she has an intense desire to sit on me
I have 10 left... and I need some assistance
And she'll be like a furnace at the best of times as well.
Shout them out, mrpresident.
down to 17 & running out of words
is she *ever*! I swear she's got a boiler inside her
ok, pe5, the first one please?
It must be a trait of spaniels.
Another way of saying lots of British coins (part of a pound)
ox5.... don't laugh at me... I am not seeing much today so if it is a fishworthy one, just slap me with a foul mouth bass
Spangle too? Its lovely in winter, but in the summer ...
thanks haz! never use that word!
its an armpit, mrp
ox5 - ox plus part of the seabird. It's Scots for armpit.
We call Spangle Dragon Breath - not because it's smelly but because it's HOT.
does she steam up the car windows after a walk??
She would if husband didn't insist on driving with all windows open. He's a fresh air fiend.
I do too, but husband likes warmth. By the time we're back home, he can hardly see for the fogged up dog breath windows
Turn your fans on!
he does. its just funny sometimes to see how foggy is gets! (until it gets dangerous of course!)
last ex5? please
ex5/20 - a word used when praising the virtues of someone.
thanks haz :)
second fe6 please
You're welcome.
aniseed-y smelling herb / vegetable thing
the ox is still a mystery I am afraid
thanks ata :)
1 left.... pffffttt!
hi guys - could someone clue me the seven letter word please
ox plus the first letters of latin earth
ox + first 3 letters of our favourite sea bird (in the grid)
the seabird is killing me!!
oh, got it!!!
yayyyyy
to7 - - if you have to4/5, add French feminine born, mixed up.
the darn bird!!! LOL
Thank goodness - we'd have hated to see you defeated by an armpit!
need less qualifications and more brain cells tonight
Good morning... could I get a clue for the last pe5?
Sure, you didn't get to sleep until late, and then there's been the kangaroo problem.
dr, yummy pasta
DUH!! Thanks.
awww Sily's now asleep on her catnip mat

clue for ex 8/70?
Just the two, Atalante.
ex8/70 sends goods abroad
clue for the to 7/32 please
that would explain why I can't find a 3rd lol
Katie - use to4/5 (the one that has the same letters as a thug or layabout) then add a chemical type ending. Or what turns sc*** into something pretty to look at.
And now, lunch time - see you later.
thanks!
byeee!
Any other clues for the to 7/32?
re 6/21 please
to unshut again re6/12
jayde the first 4 letters is as in lager **** and the second bit is the *** the word used to indicate a maiden name. All you have to do is mix up the letters in the two words. don't know if this helps!!
Thanks wordsrock, i'm just shuffling off for some fish!!
:)
ha. I just learned the Scottish word for armpit. :-D

morning, everyone--we got RAIN last nite--wahoo!!
Hi Une, yay for rain!
Hello Une, we are getting rain here today, finally
May I have a clue for the 7 letter word, please
we were 16 inches below normal so this definitely helps! Yesterday there were even some schools in TN that had to close -- not enough water pressure to flush toilets!
oh geez, we are not that bad, only 13 inches below normal but no water restrictions here
that wet stuff is really beautiful, eh, mom?!
I love it

By the way, Hi everyone. I'm fairly new here, but addicted. Trying to improve vocabulary. I love the online community here and after I get the 30-40% everyday words, I benefit from y'alls clues for some of the harder words. Thanks for that. Today is my first day of contributing to the chat.
Hi, Marmar! This game is very quickly addicting!
Hiya Marmar
ox 5?
You know all about Lickety's clues, I presume?
oops, got it.
Yes, thanks. Very helpful! I love to read and thought my vocab was better than average, but I've been totally humbled here.
You and I both, indeedy
Marmar, that's because 40% of the words in Babble are not in ANYONE's vocabulary!!
I guess that's true...Speaking of Winnie the Pooh, I get to go read my kids a story right now. I'll check in later when the house is quiet! See y'all later.

*clues
ex+ up a **le.
thanks sandie; shoulda seen that one; the easy ones always seem harder than some of the long ones
especially since I got the ex 6/36 and 8/70
I always get the difficult ones as well and miss the most obvious ones. Must be some kind of weird mind set we have!
I've reached the place where I have only one left and I've monkeyed until my fingers are bloody. RE6/21. Please don't tell me that it's unbelievably obvious and I just don't see it (it's probably true but please don't tell me). ;)

Yayyy redshoes!!!!!!!
n
some of these words are... a little obscure!
ok, going to go do more work. bye folks!
I'm convinced some of them don't exist! They only seem to occur on babble.
dareaper, it usually means home"brewed". . .
lol i think so too
Phone call - BRB.
o0o i gotcha kinda like moon shine
The odd part, to me, is that some of the archaic words and an occasional German word will work and others won't
Moonshine in Ireland 8-)
clue for the to 7/32, please
to 4/5 + chemical ending was the clue that helped me
to 4,5 plus last three letters for hawain goose
got it, thx, fireworks!

fireworks!!
Wd - the people who got fireworks while I was gone!
just in time too, lights are flickerng.....expecting our first BIG wind storm moving in fast it seems.
ooooo whereabouts are you in the states mcurlschool?
pacific northwest
washington to be exact
Fancy that - I live in Washington UK.
that's interesting
We're the original Washington where the family came from.
didn't know that....never to old to learn they say
Yup! The Washington family were from the north-east of England - in other words they were Geordies! LOL,
down to 8 f's
keep going brewster!
well, I guess you could say we're the "washers".....we like to joke that most of those born and raised here have webbed feet (all the rain you know).
so I've heard - bit damp where you live. Come to think of it it's not too much better in this Washington. Must be something to do with the 'wet' name.
how true. I've discovered that if we go to someplace where they need rain....I can honestly say it will rain BEFORE we leave......it happened to us when we went to Miami in May!
Now that is just unfair!
could be a curse sometimes though especially we we're trying to get OUT of the rain!
We had my son's girlfriend from Southern California here over the summer - I think she found the weather 'challenging'.
we get the same thing here......another joke is "don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes it will change.
how's that windstorm shaping up?
I heard there were 60 mph winds out on our coast and should start moving closer inland around 2pm our time....but, the coast covers a lot of area here and if we have any luck we won't get the really big gusts
good luck with that - hope things work out OK for you.
Phone call. Happy babbling!
keeping my fingers crossed; I have big winds as we have LOTS of large trees around our home.
bye
sorry that would have been I hate big winds.....
fireworks
if I could spell the last fe6/27 I would have been done long ago
We're getting pretty good winds here too...

Northeast Oklahoma
Oh? you had a LOT of wet earlier this year
Oh, yeah. Approaching a record setting flood.

Hello again. Anyone here?
i have just got here
i have 9 to go
hi, hurshy. It looks like no one is here!
oh, so i'm no one, eh?
Hi to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
I've got 27 left; and seem to have run out of words at this point
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
you can't run out of words
just like how death cannot stop true love
all it can do is delay it for a while
Hi Min. Hurshy, you ARE someone, you know what I meant. I was here by myself I think
suuuuure nef, *i* see how it is
i'm here too now. hello
there is a ladybug problem in our foyer
I ran out of words on this grid. Everything I enter now hasn't been found in the dictionary that Babble uses. :(
when i entered it, i was hit in the face by at least five ladybugs.
I have 10 left!
aggressive ladybugs
you are merely encountering a temporary stuckageness. don't get discouraged.
Never had fireworks before...so im excited!
how long since you started playing, meeeee?
hi Dorens. When I went back in the chat; there were several people that commented on this place being too quiet today
shall i make some noise?
I've found that small grids make for quiet chat... folks come in and out quickly and don't chat much
oh, yes, please! My hubby is napping and he ignores MY noise!
HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I'm an occasional babbler...I don't have a permanent account yet even...and i have never sat down for long enough to finish...but i think this might be my first time!
not an easily addicted person, are y ou meeeee?
ok, now let me be clear, i am not ASKING for a clue for the 7 - which i noted this morning in chat as being a TO7 - but i am asking merely this: if i were to ask for a clue for the TO7, would i regret it?
Go, meeee! And Dorens; that didn't phase him one bit!
oh no...im addicted...i have played everyday for the last year...
well meeeee if you first registered more than 2 weeks ago, i fear you will not see fireworks today.
so this is where everyone disappears to.
just never with enough time to win...
I don't know, hurshy. I don't have it yet
depends hursshy.... it's a word i've seen here before, but never anywhere else
i think perhaps i might see it if I worked in a chem lab or something, but not sure
well may i have the third letter of it then, please?
really?! No fair!
u can
Hello Dorens! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
sorry... u may
I just graduated from college...so I might be too broke to register...
well meeee, you can have the ones people make in chat
hi min... just back from grueling hour at the dentist's actually.
Hello meeeee! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
it is 15 dollars to go pro, and it lasts forever.
will you give it to me, please, dorens dear?
and worth twice the price at leasst!
i did, hurshy dear... i did give it to U
hurshy, I just got it on Dorens hint!
Hi Zugzug7! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
it was only 10 when i joined... back in the day
ty. i'm not sure I get it. too many letters. I must be a numbers guy.
i am confused. if it is a to7, U cannot be the third letter.
zug... disappear to here... from where?
Hi Minveryork! Thank you:)
sudoku
oh sorry hurshy. blame it on the dentist... L
that's the 4th letter
well now, lol
(thinking I was being clever, and actually being doltish)
I actually know some of you because I have a different name every 15 days..the result of not having signed up pro...I know..I'm cheap...I just really should...
thanks, that makes it real easy
Was 12.95 when I joined. I'm glad I joined when I did!
ohhh, well, if you have a new name within two weeks and doc has it based on screen name, then, i guess you will be able to see fireworks
i don't know.... people spend far more than $15 on things that last much less
if you can see stat boxes, you can see fireworks, i think that's how it goes
It was $12 when I joined. I've really enjoyed playing and chatting. It's been my best investment on the internet yet!
It took me awhile to go pro too,but I did not have to change my name every fifteen days meeeee. Why did you have to do that? Is that a new thing with Babble?
do they charge you for both Babble and Sudoku?
After my house, Babble has been my best investment!
meeeee is probably changing names to maintain the stat boxes
yes, zug.
yes.. they're each separate games
:(
doc's gotta make a living
meeee, you should join. Ask someone to give you Babble for your b'day or Christmas or whatever comes first. You will never regret it and you will start to build stats that way.
if you think about how much joy he brings to your life, doesn't it seem like a small price?
how much does it cost you for one night at the movies?
Fortunately, I'm not into Sudoku,so I do not have to pay twice.I tried Sodoku, but never got into it really.
Good point Dorens!
gosh.....it's not as if we have to spend $15 each month... this is it for life
best deal on the internet
I've just paid up for Iron Sudoku and haven't finished a game there yet
Yes, yes. I know. I didn't realize thats all it cost for a life-time membership. Will do it asap
goood. now we can get downn off our soapboxes
:)
AND I just bought a babble tee shirt in a pretty blue! Now everyone keeps asking what my shirt says!
Geez Dorens!:) You're going to make me feel guilty every time I watch a movie now!
Off to do chores.Would rather pay for Babble than a maid! I'll be back later on to finish the grid hopefully!
i have one of the first run babble t-shirts... in yellow.
oh no sorry meeeee didn't mean to do a g uilt trip, please forgive.
oh boy! I have 184 pts. I must have played this before. Must have been months ago.
Zugzug, you have a way to go yet! :)
hursh; I didn't buy a yellow one because yellow isn't my coloor. I look positively sick in yellow
I see that. I must be in last place compared to the scores everyone else has.
the first run shirts came in blue and yellow, your choice.
i have a yellow one....not the most complimentary shade of yellow for me, and a blue one.
i love saying FIRST RUN
I need the re6/27 and ex6/33 please

grey's....
It has been an emotional rollercoaster with Mary. The pathology reports are coming in from various specialists locally and from cancer ctrs in the US. We are praying for a cure from medical science +/or divine healing. The kids all spent the afternoon at the hospital with her, including the newborn.
Oh, scrabs. I am sorry...
ren, i must go but can you im me before i do?
her story just breaks my heart, especially as a new mom
ok be right there
Brain tumors suck. Short of a cure we are hoping to "buy time" with radiation and control the cancer as long as possible.
They do suck indeed.
isn't that what lance armstrong beat though?
golfer, to 7/32 extends the to 4/5 word and ex 8/70 word is one who ex 6/36.
Yes, Featherbee, the story is so emotional and compelling--everyone at the hospital is drawn right in and becomes so supportive. especially the nurses that are mothers.
Lance had metastatic testicular cancer, but, yes, his recovery was miraculous.
Lance had testicular that metsed

I have a co-worker who was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian CA 12 years ago. She has had 3 recurrences, and treatment is successful each time

Wow, Pam, and that particular disease is grim.

Hi, dan
hey jelle! hey dan! i was on earlier and went to chat w/ owl

at least it's not gone jellen
True, lol

hey tim - it's going smooth dan - of course xanex helps
lol ren!
momof3...feather had a boy...and was back on here 18 hours later! (I was impressed anyway)
i heard dan!!! lol. like olan, tending the fields, after pushing out the kid
xanax is pretty wonderful ren!
I was off here for a while, and didn't have any kids...i feel like such a slacker!
ditto dan ditto - nut and i are in agreement w/ you
lol dan....slack away
how is nut??
Hi Babblers/
i am watching judge judy....what a loser i am
Hi, relarion
the 28th is nutty buddy's birthday - hubby nut is in the hospital - they should be home tomorrow
hey rel
is he ok?
Good evening everyone!
Hi, GW
Hey ren, jell, woulf and all.
wow..i can't believe i am watching this crap
we'll all be a bunch of slack losers...would that make us streakers?
Howdy Jel, rel, ren, and everyone else@@
hey wolf! almost happy birthday!!
whats wrond with nuts hubby/
I have watched every CSI rerun at least 4 times (the Vegas one)
Thanks ren!
hippo birdy woulf!
happy prebirth grey
what crap are you watching, momo'3?
That's my fave, relarion!!!!
judge judy....
i am embarrassed to admit
Happy early birthday, greywoulf!
he has cancer shorty - they are shrinking the tumors
Pam, I just love the whole cast and the scripts are superior!
is he doing ok ren?
aww Im sorry to hear that I hope things go well
Didn't know about Nut's husband..wow.
i think so trio mom - the tumors are shrinking
Thanks for the natal anniversary wishes! {{{{****HUGS to all****}}}}
Me, too, ren. Am watching Criminal Intent on USA now
momof3--waht are you watching
That's good to hear ren.
pam..i am watching judge judy....
loser loser loser...no law and order!!!
I watch all the judge shows. Can't get enough.
how kristen wolf? how's the wee wolf cubs?
Pam: I remember the lead woman of Law & Order CI from "Oz" as a killer on death row.
lol krista..i swear, if my ex..well soon to be, ...would agree to go on, i would !!! LOL
I didn't watch, OZ
the pack is doing well, ren, nothing special to report
Sometimes I think friends go on shows like that for laughs.
i took his employer to work and when i filed, the people's court contacted me to go on, but they would not do it....
It was pretty hard to watch. Very violent.
I don't get HBO
i agree kris...people's court would have paid all expenses..and the judgement..so why not go on?? it is a win/win situration
very true, rel - OZ was a very violent show
But it was an interesting story to watch at the same time
hello
i heard elliot from svu was in oz
wow, so close to being on People's Court. I liked when Judge Judy's husband was the judge.
he was???? i didn't know that
hey harp!
hey harp
Hi, harp
Yes Woulf, it was like, 'I can't stand it and I can't look away.'
What I love is seeing how many actors from Oz have gone on to star on the various Law and Order shows
a lot of the characters on there now, have played bit roles before...
yes mom, he was. For a long time I couldn't watch SVU w/o imagining him forcing his cellmate..oh never mind.
wow..he did????
momo'3 -- the actor who portrays Elliot on SVU was one of the worst people you would ever want to meet -- everyone was a toy for him to play with
they showed him doing his cellmate???
has anybody watched Viva Laughlin? It's supposed to premiere tonight?
was Oz produced by the same producer as the Law and Orders?
Ohhh yeah, mom.
no, harp...
i am busy watching judge judy instead of viva...
wow..i can't picture him doing that..glad i didn't see it..wouldnt want to ruin my image!!! LOL
he is sexy, i think
these people are suing each other for $355..i really should get my ex to go on!
Oz was on HBO and despite its violence and subject matter, apparently had a fairly large female audience due to the presence of full frontal exposure of the male cast
I can't get either of the ne ones, clues pls? I have 24 left and am losing interest, except in chatting with you folks :=)
ne4/4 is the Hawaiian goose
i lost interest at 22 words rel!!! lol
relarion - nex2 for one...bad spelling of lowest tide for the other
one is the goose from hawaii and the other sounds like the roadrunner cartoon
only with an ne
n + double vowel + *arty time!
or like a nerdy car horn
Hi, ruru
The show that I am finding to be really twisted and cool at the same time is Pushing Daisies
HI ya Jell....
i coudln't bring myself to give it a try..any good grey?? i like what follows...dirty sexy money
Hi
TY everyone, still puzzling over the goose, hm...
I keep missing you MOm and Grey and Rel so i ducked int
The show my wife has been watching is Tell me you love me... the characters are soooooo drippy
what is the 1st + 3rd re6 please!
ne, repeated is the goose
hey herin...how are you?? long time no chat
go down the right side
Hi, herin
my fav is boston legal....
Hi herin! How's by you?
but des housewives and boston legal are close
i mean brothers and sisters, duh
mine too mom, wm shatner is hysterical!
re + sense of touch
The John stewart show is my fav
Thx ru, got it.
momo'3 -- it is hard to describe except as sorts Twin Peaks- ish in its quirkiness, but not so confusing
re+fe4 & re+te4
Hi M3boys. How are you
re + say
love love love shatner
didn't see twin peaks grey...
but thanks anyway
tyvm
how can i get my ex to go on this show??? LOL
What I really love about it is the dialogue -- it is written in a style reminiscent of the dialogue from movies like Grosse Pointe Blank or Little Shop of Horrors
twin peaks was the BEST!
Hi Lady
yes creepy and good
hhmm..didn't see Grosse, but i saw shop.. a long time ago..i remember liking it.
Mom you still got that dog?
anyone else watch brothers and sisters?
lol ..yes herin...i still got my pup!
my prob with Twin Peaks was that there was so much hinting going on of things to come, that if you missed an episode you were totally lost
Ok im off. Back after flip
good night herin
bye herin
Bye her.
Later, herin
back after flip must do home work
i know GW, that's why for two years i never missed an episode!
judy doesn't give anyone a chance to get a word in edgewise...yikes
i have them all on tape
mom0'3 -- I strongly recommend you see Grosse Pointe Blank! It is one of the only movies I have ever felt compelled to buy the sound track album for and I think it showcases John Cusack's talent wonderfully
the owls are not what they seem....
will do grey...sounds great.
i just caught Gladiator with russell crowe this week... good movie.
I agree with you on Gross Pointe Blank, GW.
well i'm back to the dreaded E's
At some time I will go back a watch the whole series, harp -- I do remember that at the time I was wondering if Kyle MacLachlan was ever going to portray a normal person
I loved that movie, too, jellen and grey
i think one of the new characters on Boston Legal was Norma on Twin Peaks?
not sure harp....
i love james spader.
pam and jel -- it was the movie that made me aware of John Cusack -- I had missed his earlier stuff -- now I try to at least catch his movies on video whenever I am in doubt about what to rent
somehow I feel funny talking about all these worldly things while I look like Mother Theresa
lol
would anyone like a blessing or anything?
I loved Spader in White Castle.
white castle????
Didn't see White castle because I loved the book so much...
judy is more of an actress than a judge...
white palace? With Susan Sarandon?
LOL, harp
hehe, Harp
ok to7 is driving me crazy can I get a clue please? sorry for asking so much
I find Spader to be one of those actors that sneaks up on ;you -- I haven't seen him in much, but everytime I have found that his character portrayal was fabulous
sorry shorty..i am not really paying attn to the game...
to4/5 + keros***
Think bean curd with diff. 3rd letter, then keros*** lantern.
i love his closing speeches on boston legal.
re6/27 is all I need to get fireworks. Does anyone have any clues? I'd be so grateful (and could go to bed!).
to + first letters of a Hawaiian picnic + kero***
I never get to see Boston Legal
Woulf, I almost forgot.."Secretary!" With Maggie G.
re+fe4
ty
For that matter I don't get to see much TV - when I get home from work, I am more focused on quality kid time and then the computer
re6= re + fe4/7
wow grey....try to catch it....it is out on dvd...
Thanks so much Jellen! That did it!
i watch four shows a week....tape them, then watch while working out when the kids go to bed
Yay for Lisa!!!
wtg
Yay Lisa!!
momo'3 -- I may at some time, but right now I have a serious DVD backlog - I bought the Firefly boxed set and have yet to watch past the first ten minutes cos I never have the time to dedicate to it
lol ... i hear ya grey!!!
Thank you all so much! Your clues are so helpful!
I have the Firefly boxed set, too.
my oldest will be nine on sunday..i can;t believe it.. where did the time go?
what is firefly, by the way?
9, that's like no time at all in Harpjane Years!
And Serendipity. It's a science fiction western series.
my middle guy will be eight on monday! lol
Firefly was the SF series that Joss Whedon made after Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- it gained a huge cult following because of the characters and his dedication to realism
Hi all -- just have to pass this along... Q: How many women with MENOPAUSE does it take to change a light bulb? Woman's Answer: One! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the # &%!* light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CABINET for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them, 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE FREAKING LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS PLACE! AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON WHO CHANGES THE TOILET PAPER ROLL !! I'm sorry. What was the question?
nice jill
LOLOL, jilli
jilli -- double RFOL here -- you got Kirsten as well
oh dear, I'm still laughing and I hope you are too
lol jill, is it warm in here?
My back porch light has been burned out for over two weeks. I only remember it when it's dark out.

Hi Helen
Hi hk!!
well, you know how those nobel peace prize winners are!
woulff -- looking at your profile, I think winter is just starting now...
GreyWoulf, where is Lansdale?
you too GW!
about 25-30 miles west of Philadelphia
jilli -- you wouldn't know it from the weather! we were in the high 70's today and the temps are supposed to hit 80 tomorrow
AH- that's why I've heard of it. Think I was just near there en route to King Tut.
I must put supper into the microwave...then come back to try for my last 22 (was out all day)
Entirely possible -- if you took the PA turnpike Northeast extension, it has its own exit
jili - what's for dinner tonight?
Yep, that's it. We are about 2 mi. from the PA line, but didn't think it was near us.
GW -- our winter is starting early and we're told will be a la nina
winter...who has winter?
wow down to 30 already, but i don't see anything more, hmmmmm
HK, frozen Indian butter chicken
According to the Farmers Almanac, this winter is going to be a very harsh and cold one -- with slightly more snow that average
Hi helen btw
i've never heard of indian butter chicken
help with the ox?
now that sounds good (you all are going to make me hungry again)...yes, what is that? (you can tell us while it's microwaving)

it's nice here finally, I am in central illinois
yay for rel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we just turned on the house fan cause we like it cold for sleeping
It was almost chilly this evening here in Oklahoma.
it's supposed to be cool tomorrow but in the 70' - 80' for the weekend
it's 64 here right now, cause the t-storms moved through
Nat -- for Kirsten to be able to sleep comfortably the temp has to be as close to 40 as we can get it
but we are supposed to hit higher temps tomorrow
Whereas I prefer the temp to be around 66 for sleeping
i agree w/ kirsten
sounds like my house too, we love lots of blankets and fuzzy sheets
our house fan can turn a 60 degree night pretty cold
not me give me mid 80's in the day and 70's at night
my feet are cold from Oct - May
does anyone need any clues?
I would love to stay and chat, but alas my bed is calling to me
otherwise is am going to watch earl & the office on tape
niters nat :)
My husband likes the house at 70. 65 would be fine for me...we now have central (forced-air) heat for the first time in our 24-year marriage.
Lu - my feet are pretty much cold all the time -- Kirsten hates when I forget to sleep with my socks on because I have a tendency to put them on her back in my sleep!
And with that, night all.
niters rel
Sleep well, Nat
Farewell, rel
G'night, Nat and relarion
thanks, it was good to see you woulfie!
Nite nite hk, grey.

Hey, peeps
thx. thought i tried everythign, clearly i missed that one.
quiet evening?
Hi im not here i um just needing help on an related maner
or whatever, depending on where each of us is
's okay, herin :)
I needed to ask if anyone has a sodding clue about using the DX mailing system as i dont have a clue
I guess, with such a short word list, and so many of them easily guessable, not that many wanting clues. Except for those where we have mental blocks
down to the wire- i have re4/7, re4/4, re 4/4- need last one. also, re6. i have 6/27 and 6/18, one more?
DX? A system like UPS?
Um i think so
do you have to RE not close a door
re6/27 is re + the 1st fe4/7
there is 8 RE words
yeah, herin, a bunch, for such a short list
jasmine, did that clue solve your problem? :)
or did I clue the wrong word?
no, i didn't have the door re. thank you. thank you.
it was herin who clued that one
I was trying to help you get in touch with your ****ings ;)
Do you need anymore clues or we right
I have to go dress shopping
shopping? ooooooh, fun!
how big is today's budget, herin? [drool] :D
No not fun. Im a size 38-40d or E bust and size 20 bum
whatcha gotta find today? (nosy, aren't I; sorry)
No budget have seen a couple of pretty numbers from Target
oh, babe, we're close to the same size, even if we're an ocean (and 2/3 of a continent) apart
Yer so its hard to find stuff that isnt a mu mu.
shopping is still fun, except I can usually find prettier things in catalogs or online
I dont like shopping but i need clothes for my lunch and dinner
I love to shop Coldwater Creek, but I imagine the shipping to OZ would break the budget :(
they have *some* nice things in our size range
Oh i love that little black dress with the tiny arm sleaves
this will upset me if i can't get this last one. re 4? i have coral re, fishing re, **te. am positive i have tried every monkey combo and still can't get it. help pls.

oh, my. I used to take a 34" inseam before all the cartilege in my knees went away
Eddie Bauer jeans are the only jeans I've found for me. 34-35" inseam
wonder how they feel about shipping it to me
trying to think where I used to shop when I needed the *long* inseams
other than Saks (shows how long ago it was)
sometimes kohls have tall slacks
I am close to 6 foot so i have no guilt about my size
who, herin?
not many tops in tall
That's right, I was forgetting - you Aussies are tall!
me too, herin. i like being tall. at least i can reach something when i need it
CC. looking at their website. Nearly in tears at how lovely their clothes are
I useta have a close e-friend from Down Under. Mel was 5'11"
we have a store 40 minutes away
I can't reach as high as I used to. Between losing the cartilage in my knees, and in my spine, I've lost 2 inches :( :(
good for shopping bad for wallet
my dirty little secret is i never finish unless the grid is <100. so asking for help on little grids REALLY feels like cheating.........but thanks all and goodnight
oh, my, I guess so! but such fun to shop :)
nite, Jasmine

I can rarely afford them anymore, but it's fun to look
no, not hicing -- hiding, sigh
ooh home page for cc say jackets with longer lenght
I wish I'd thought to mention Orvis to herin. They've got nice stuff, and size/height okay, but "mature"
all right! Lu! :)
I guess everybody's got their puzzles finished?
even Petite pants are too long for me. But even at my advanced age, I am the same height as I always was since I grew up.
I might have been, except for arthritis [sigh]
I'm a bit wider, though, ugh
babe, you got lotsa company
aren't we all jilli
you say "advanced" but I bet I'm older
tyger, click on my icon ;)
Oh, my. you've got me beat, fershure! congrats!
hehe tyger!!!
I'm the age McCartney useta sing about. The Fateful Day was last month
ah, loved that song
AARP made a big thing out of it in the issue with the feature interview of him a while back
tyger, my little boy will reach that age in 5 years
so you had him at 21? That's how old I was when I had my son
Gave up subscribing to AARP years ago, but that's nice
yep, tyger
they put the feature interviews up on their webpage, I'm pretty sure
You're so good at math, giggle
if you're curious
must find the webpage -- should be easy
just a sec
http://www.aarpmagazine.org/
tyger -- are you mom or pop, mum or dad?
there ya go
mom
:)
USAn, half my pedigree spent several centuries in Canada (mostly Quebec)
so I'm very partial to the Great North
2 fe 6's?
native Michigander, exiled in Mississippi, but hoping to move "home" in the next 6 months
just bookmarked the AARP mag -- thanks
fe6/30 uses an epee
fe6/27 is a spice, popular for sausage
yw, jilli
well, tyger, if you read all my bio you'll see I'm not a native North American
need more help, Lu?
thanks tyger! GRR i get so mad when i dont see "obvious" words like that
fe + double consonant + ** Cid (Spanish hero)
I'll read when we're not chatting :) I'm half Native, but not the side from Canada
ty in could see the first fe and i hate the taste of the other so i blocked it out
yw, fran
[chuckle] Lu, I'm not fond of that taste, either
Who is Babbler's icon for today? To see it if you're using BabblerExpert, go to Resources -- if not, go to Lickety's page and Icon Themes...
any help with the 2 c words?
ce + **ply and ce+ **ll the truth
Franny, the first one is Latin for wax. the 2 syllables rhyme, the second often appears in memo & email subject lines
the 2nd one, take the word for whales - ****cean, and substitue a different vowel for the final one of the 4 letters
i was struggling with my last fe. i was blind to the plant. duh
gracias
yw, franny
sometime i see that difficult ones before the obvious
with the combo of Jilli's clues & mine, I guess it wasn't *too* hard? :)
me too, Lu
I got the 8 in today's fairly early
aw, franny, didn't you get my clues at 11:35?
'course, that's not *really* a hard one
yes i did jilli - many thanks. have 17 left now, but at this point i'm ready for the new grid :)
jilli, I thought she was thanking both of us
i was tyger :)
want more clules, franny? We're right here :)
oh, good -- I thought maybe I was being too succinct
I'm always wordy - and always jealous of succinct :P
how many to go, franny?
well, i appreciate the offer. i might could get'em if i used lickety, but at this point doesn't seem worth the effort. i AM stumped at the other "O" though - got the not closed
still 17 jilli
I can boil my prose down, but it takes numerous rewrites
ox + sis*** (female sib)
i greatly appreciate the succinct, but also enjoy the wordy cuz it's a challenge :)
Ahhh got it jellen
well, it means "armpit" :D - Jellen's clue is excellent
Armpit, really? Huh.
0x5/20 -- ox + ***rible word for armpit!
didja get the Hawaiian goose, Franny?
anyone here drink "republic of tea" brand of tea?
was that the ne4 tyger?
ROFL, jilli!!
I have, franny
one of 'em
the last one, franny
Just the herbal varieties, though. Not a big black tea drinker.
tyger, you mean annoying Hawaiian goose :)
i just ordered a batch of the Ginger Peach tea - MMMM my god i luv it so - and got a conf. email from the " minister of orders"... thought that was funny
really? but then geese are generally annoying
Jellen - I love jasmine tea. Do you consider that "black"? It's usually made with green tea
I can almost understand why they were almost extinct
lol - not really
I'll drink green teas occasionally.
hey Luwanda - i'm orig. from indiana! anderson to be exact
I like teas of most kinds, especially those from Asia, but not the really black ones - especially that tarry stuuff
we live in greefield
small world
I prefer good old Orange Pekoe, strong, being an ex-brit. Jasmine ltea is lovely with Chinese food, being an old Shanghailander.
I don't think Chinese food is any good without Chinese teas :)
i really encourage any tea drinker to try the ginger peach. i just about make a pitcher a day in the summer with my iced tea maker. Mmmm good. needs no sugar at all
Jilli - my winter fave tea is "Constant Comment" - it's an orange pekoe... that i use Lots of sugar with. and it's great with toast on a cold morning. :)
I prefer my flavored teas hot. for cold/iced, I want "plain old" tea
brb
i once had a brit. friend who got me to enjoy earl grey, with cream and sugar
franny, I love Constant Comment hot in winter, too!
mmmm isn't it the BEST tyger?? oohhh the smell when you open the packet!
I was on an Earl Grey kick for a few years, but finally got tired of it. That was about 20 years ago
Ginger peachy tea and such are pleasant hot drinks for them as likes'em, but for me they're not tea.
I agree, franny, the smell is intoxicating, but I also love raspberry teas (even tho not preggers) :)
i never add sugar to my iced tea, but i DO actually still like "sweet tea" - the southern tradition of a glass of sugar with a bit of tea thrown in for good measure
Never cream in tea!!!! Milk and sugar, yes
is raspberry good for pregnant ladies?
oh maybe it was milk, jilli. didn't mean to upset you so! haha
ROFLOL, franny! I like "sweet tea", but only from those places where they DON'T put a ton of sugar in
raspberry leaf tea is excellent for pregnant ladies, especially those nearing the end
well, my parents are from west virginia, which is considered the "south" even though they're not Really geographically so... and the southerners DO love their sugar. and butter.
in winter, I usually alternate between Constant Comment and raspberry (or sometimes just mixed berry) teas
good to know tyger. i think next year is the year to try and get pregnant. have some fibroids to deal with first, but then, tick tock - time to get on with it already! but i don't know Squat about pregnancy!
my mother was from KY, also not really south to the people here in Mississippi. but she taught me how to cook greens and cornbread
well, best of luck with it, franny
Once upon a time my Brit mother and I travelled on a train from NY to NC in the days when there were dining cars. We ordered tea, and the guys went into conference in the galley. They showed up with a cup of hot water and a teabag in a saucer on a lettuce leaf.
ohhh KY is most def. "the south". :) never had greens, but Oh my mom does love her cornbread, with a big pot of beans
a lettuce leaf!!! LOL
I daresay there are enough of us here with experience to "hold your hand"
really, jilli? how hilarious/horrible
I just noticed, we're almost to flip!
Well, the thing is, tea has to be made with BOILING water in a heated pot and steeped for about 3 minutes.
thanks tyger... you know, you're right - i love having my babble family who is always here, any time of day or night when i'm feeling lonely - am i'll be quite "alone" ('cept for hubby of course) if i get pregnant - i moved 1,000 miles from "home"
jilli, I have Brit friends, and so I know very well that it's not tea if it's not properly steeped in *boiling* water
where are you now, franny?
am worried about not having a support system to go thru those 9 mos. and infancy with, but Duh - All the great broads on here are a goldmine! i'm in RI
I also read a lot of Brit fiction
but the guys on the train tried... :)
yup, they did try, bless their little hearts
I do recall, that's how hot tea orders were filled back when I was a kid
my brit fiction consists of Rosamunde Pilcher. i used to GOBBLE up every one of her books
franny, "little Rhody"?
yeah, that's one thing it's called. :)
I like Brit mystery writers
