I think i got the recipe from recipes plus this months adition or it was from taste.com.au
herin, i make mine from scratch
anything hard for me to do, struggling to get back into cooking - can't get enthusiastic about it. My husband (used to) do most of the cooking

Hi Lide

yeah, the place in DC with the banana tree didn't take it in until early Feb last year. It has been a bit cooler this year, so there may be a winter. We'll see.
I hate hot
Dreading summer
it's hot and humid here usually from May-Eary Oct.
April and Oct best months here. Usually neither too dry nor too wet, not too hot, not too cold.
ok jumping in to grid because the single word i have looks terribly lonely
lynx - thanks
Going to your place then DC
and the cherry trees in April/May
march/apr, though last year it was Jan/Feb, with the tidal basin ones blomin just after the ice storm in Feb.
i remember when they bloomed late apr/early may. seems so long ago.
herin- DC has the most amazing cherry trees in bloom in the spring... they are all over and truly gorgeous
Yes, the cherry trees are one of the nicest things of Spring, they bloom with the forsythia, and just ahead of most of the tulips.

Hi everyone - See we're having a bad day again. Side note, I personally protest against chat being available only if you've paid for pro!
ok guys, being nice did not work... let's ignore the brat while waiting for the report to hit home.
Grana i thought you went to Tesco to sort it out.
I would before this silly kid appeared, but not now. Pro want that pricey when i joined unless it has gone up?
Uni i am sorry to say that but this is getting tiresome. I love you and lore and some of the other non pro players but im about to splode at the lack of respect
i tend to agree with you uni - we would also miss the likes of joanne, meliae and many more...
Sorry! Ididn't know it was that big of a deal! I'll never do it again
noooo - too broke to afford it. vet bills
.
I'm a university student, in debt for many thousands of dollars. Paying for a word game seems ludicrous to me.
no need to make the chat only available to pro users, if drG agrees in appointing some moderators.
I am guilty of being a pro pro account troll and i realised how horrid i was. I also had my account paid for by someone. Its a right itch not being able to afford it. I agree with you sprite
i second that sprite.
But he won't sprite. Afternnoon all
hi FM
people misbehaving here is still an exception to the rule, so if we can have a moderator in each timezone, we can handle it easily.
Hi FM
why not, FMitch? Scared of sharing a bit of power?
well, the game would still be available free, and there is a forum I think
OH Sprite can we have a clue bat with spikes ?:P
that sounds more painfiul than the fish!
too bad there isnt a feature like they have at tangleword....you just click on that name and hit mute and their chat just not show up on your screen
LOL lady
OH hi Dart i like that idea
snoif is such an idiot!
ow that would be wonderful, dart
now thats a plan dart!
That way you are personally mutted to tools
what a wonderful idea dart !
ten they can just type away and nobody sees it and they get bored
From previous internet experience, I realize there are many ways to solve our troll issues, Dr. G and others just need to have the time/will to use them.
How many DO words please?
Hi montreal
I have 2 SO words and 2 Sw words is that right
none herein
well, I haven't seen drG responding well to any good suggestions lately, so I will not hold my breath. But I will drop a few lines to lickety... he is a brilliant programmer and I bet he can do some good things with these ideas.
let's cancel snoif's acces
Respect systems are also quite helpful, but only if available to pro users. Otherwise, trolls could just give each other respect points.
I'd love to shuffle some letters today.
I gaffed on the DO one sorry
3 so and 3 sw
ANgel boogle style?
Thanks
i'm snoifs brother
Thank you Gran that was what i was wondering
Can i have the lenghts for the So please i have 2 4s and 1 4 and 1 5 for the SW
another sw5 herin
2 sw 5
actually, babble is not behaving well at all today as it is, lol.
so 5,10 and sw 5,18 needed
Thanks
Thanks so much
opps forgot to look backwards
yes, herin!
yea it was a hoard slog today sprite
**mental image of Angel giving the grid a shake***
still is... I get the red window after about every 2nde word and half of my messages don't come through without me copy-pasting them again.
lol Angel... I know that feeling :)
Groovy was having issues like that earlier
are there 2 SO 5 ?? if so, can't find 2nd one...
just one
there is one that is most achie
and two sw5
tx une, got 2 so and 3 sw
No!
oh for goodness sake when can dr god ban isps too
I restarted babble and now I see I have lost lots of words too :(
so: achy, more achy, achy with a different final vowel
brb
he can, lady... I think he just does not want to put in the effort it would require. We need to talk to lickety, I think.
Hell, I go to make coffee and the kids have taken the cover off my mousemat >:(
Hey yo i'm from the south radiation is the thing that i'm talkin about yo
lol grana!
brb
tx une !

Agreed Sprite
bye everyone - I'll be on Lickety Chat
I didnt realise there was alikety chat
hello everyone
YOU DON"T NEED TO BE CUSSING IN FRONT OF MY 7 YEAR OLD SON GRANDAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey, annie!
later lyn - hi annie
it is part of the babble expert lickety made, granadan
My lickety chat hasn't worked in weeks :(
Is this our troll again under another name?
oh dear, do i have to use my spray again?
bring it on, annie
go annie go !
where do I find it sprite?
pepper annie or mace?
just email lickety, granadan, and he will send you the download link and keep you informed about the new versions.
TrollAway
*aiming at troll and holding down spray button*
GRTANDAN ANSWER ME
pepper mace, granadan
guys, as long as they don't come in hordes, just ignoring them is really the best strategy.
Oh thanks! I seem to miss so much LOLs, must be in my on world... its nice here though
need new can annie !
I have some spray to freeze dog poop, would that do so i can join in?
*hands montreal a big new can*
spray away granadan !
any pesticide is welcome
spray away, gran
LOls, forgot that, yep ive ot frontline too
"pointing at troll and holding down buuton with 2 hands"
Why do I always grind to a halt at just overhalf way...
what a load of shit this is with the mamama!! get real!! 7 year old my fat hairy ass!!
mrP, please... can we now ignore the brat? Must more effective than talking to it all the ti4.
That explains the poor spelling and non-words though :)
all the spraying might have worked...
this trolling every single night has become a blemish... it is annoying. sorry sprite, it is nothing but a pain... will ignore it as much as I can
no, mental age that sounds quite accurate - but ignore, trolls feed on reaction and starve if ignored
theyre melting!
granada, I feel sorry you were singled out... frustrates me the way that happens
well, feeding it is only making it last longer... suit yourselves though... you can find me on lickety chat.
Funniest thing to happen so far today, ives me a iggle, no worriesd!
:)) :))
Sprite, sorry to irritate you. I have a habit of taking the bait.
might have been your "dog poo freezer" stuff that did it grana !
I think it was the roach spray
definitely the dog poo spray that did it. i find the trolls stupid and annoying and i wish they would learn to spell
i'm going to sleep for a while, and hope my internet connection stabilizes. Ciao!
bye, dc...
tat DC, good luck
later dc
thanks, yall, later. {poof}
have ppl been having glitches loading?
oh wow, thats a new one
all the time, rolin
hi Ata! I heard you and me both were sorry we could not have nemesis :)
hi ata, rolin
mornin' all!
Jo
Opps HI is it safe?
welcome back herin - code yellow for now
Hey everyone, what's up?
hey, lickety!
troll fest
hi lickety
hi all :)
lickety chat doesn't seem to load
hey lickety! We'd love you to convince drG that we NEED a mute button in this chat to make the entries of trolls invisible
hey, ata :-)
hi atalante
hi lickety - was a troll attack earlier...
bad timing for lickety chat to fail
or a virtual cattle prod so we can zap them
sprite, couldn't have said that better myself
actually, I think i would enjoy the prod more than a mute button
hmmm. not bad...first complete pass through the grid leaves 39 words to find. Could be a lot worse.
one that activates when they hit enter
ugh, 99 left and struggling now
I had to duck out to remake the bed nice day today sheets were on the line
to be honest, lickety, the lickety chat never really works properly for me. Either I cannot connect to it, or I cannot correct with backspace, or my messages won't go to the chat, but only activate the Options button on the Expert.
lol herin
hide and show seems to work
13 left no list
I know about the backspace issue - hard to fix
what would be really funny is an ignore button that they don't know about, so they can waste their days typing crap and we can just press ignore and laugh
go herin go!
but you just know you would have to unignore so you can go back and laugh at how sad and desperate they are!
Ata, that is what I am voting for. It seems drG will not have moderators. Least he could do is give us some button to ignore trolls, I'd say.
Thanks Annie. Pardon spelling errors im in the dark upstairs about to go to bed.
such button apparently exists in another game...
yes, it would be easy to implement. But drG has been refusing all kinds of changes for a long time, alas.
brb
niht herein
not going yet
Finish this first
lol yes granadan!
I am sure that DR G has been reading our incessant complaining about this issue
reading, probably. I really hope he will do something about it though. I vote for the ignore option :D
I'm with you there, Sprite. Also, training courses in the art of 'ignore' for Babblers who can't resist taking the bait.
anymore cookies herein? *looks hopeful*
Jac we actually thought that the last UTB was a nice person
In fact, even talking about it here is feeding the little blighters.
I am afraid that will not help, Jac, I am someone calling into the desert with that approach, alas. But the button would work perfectly... if people would love to chat with the trolls, I will zip them too :)
Ditto, sprite.
ditto, ditto, sprite
could be orse - at least you dont et them quoted when people reply
Oh no! I don't get stats any more :(
oh Im sick of this keyboard
poor Fordy... ti4 to decide whether to go pro or not?
Cookies. No cookies today. I made muffins yesturday
then it is time to go pro, Fordy
i can't, i don't have a credit card

sorry you're here?
Yep it appears that my server was laggin
Im hoping she was off findong cookies

cookies please, dont eat sausages
65 to find and, due to glitches in site loading, the 153 I have took ages to enter. I'm off out tonight to watch our local amateur dramatic group to Alan Ayckbourn's 'Seasons Greetings' so I'll come back later and hope things are working better.
I haven't made biscuits thus none in the house. I dont buy stor bort
Have fun Jac
have a great time, Jac
I will, herin. They're a good group. Byeee.
have a nice night out jac. home made sausages will do then but they might make my coffee tatste weird!
Oh thats what i might make tomorrow proper Scottish Shortbread
Hi everyone
HI Becca
hi becca!
How many MOs please i ahve 2
i have 2 herin
sigh i have 12 left and i just cant see them
herin, if you are listless, you are doing quite well, i am listless too but will not get as far as you
youve got all the mos herein
THanks Annie i try every grid that i have time to play to get to between 7- 16 last night i caved at 20. I like to try to get my brain to remember words as i have a shoddy memory
Thanks Grana
herin, your memory is not shoddy if you came this far, quite the opposite
I am using Morewords and Amo. Hunt down the words and find them like a would with a jigsaw
whats Amo?
http://www.amo.qc.ca/cgi-bin/pub/ODico /dico.out
ah morewords..love morewords...
have to get going, see you all later
couldn't live without it!
later, annie :-)
Its the same principle as more words but more specific say im looking for a Z word I type in ZO** and it searches for the 4s and so on
bye annie
later ANnie
oh cool
morewords does the same thing, herin
Une More words does but maybe i am doing it wrong if i type ZO** it has all of the possible combos which doesnt work for RE words
Ok i was doing it wrong opps
do you type the letters you know and substitute hyphens for the ones you don't?
um i was using * not - i feel blond now
LOL :-D
thank God for good friends... just got a whole package of clothes from a friend of mine. Even a wintercoat! That will save me so much money :)
fabulous, sprite!
wow sprite, that's great!
Lovely Sprite. My G.F and i clothes swap a lot,
totally happy with it! Clothes she will not wear anymore... I am so glad I got them!
my daughter and her friends do the same thing--very cool!
winter is starting here and I hardly had any clothes with long sleeves. Have now though :)
I only have one friend as small as me, so we borrow from each other if we need something - she eve has the same shoe size - it's great!
Yah Sprite, I am trying to find summer clothes not fun
Becca my g.f is the same shoe size too she has borrowed my boots before. I don't wear them but keep them around. Don't ask me why i have no idea.
I also have male friends borrowing my male shirts too
i don't think any of m male friends would fit in my clothes - way too small!
Becca can i ask what size jean pants you are in inches?
no idea - i go by British size 10 for lower half, 8 for top half
My Bf probably could steal your jeans hes a size 32 inch
yeah but i bet he's not a midget too!
Um just under 5 9
I know that he wears size 12-14 boys tops and small tshirts.
i wear my bfs jeans heh but he doesn't fit in mine..
just looked it up - size 10 is 27" waist
too small for him
Fordy my male friends were forever stealing my jeans and shirts as i prefer the cut of the shirts.
Sprite what else did you get in your new clothes?
I much prefer men's jeans because they have big pockets
about 6 or 7 tops... almost all long sleeved and in the style I love.
and they are comfier in the waist. I love the big pockets too as i hate having a handbag at all times.
Yah Sprite thats great
ah, kids in bed :)
hi mrp
HI Mr Pres
wtg mrP! I just got a package from a friend of mine with clothes she does not wear anymore... even her wintercoat :)
SO glad I did not order new clothes yet... did not have the money, but did not have clothes anymore either... this solves it mostly :D
Morning Babblers!
hi Nanette
hi nono
Hi Nono
hi nono
Sprite do you swap kids clothes at all?
oh yes lady, we do. Even used to go to specials swap sales when they were smaller. Notmuch in their sizes now anymore, alas. But sometimes they get clothes from older kids and we pass on the good stuff to the younger ones.
When I was at school + still growing I got almost all my clothes either from my brother (2 years older) or my best friend Helen, who was always a size bigger than me
THats a brilliant idea. A friend of mine just had her baby girl she was quite a large bub yet her friend had a bub at the same time but smaller so they swapped clothes
i don't really remember having new stuff bought til i was about 13..
Clothes has never been a big deal to me. Bags yes clothes no
I never mind second hand. Actually, I love it.
Best score was 12 pairs of near new shoes from the girl that lived upstairs and was moving and couldnt take them with her due to space
as long as my clothes are comfy, clean and warm, I don't care much. I have my own style, don't fancy trendy stuff. I am happy as can be with this box of goodies :)
I love old clothes
Thats the best thing Sprite.
so do I, Ata :)
I have scored in the past designer shirts due to opshop
I especially love old clothes from friends cos every time I put them on they remind me of that friend and makes me smile
i like bargains, so charity shops are my friends!
that too, Ata! I loved this clothes while she was still wearing them, and now I will love wearing them myself, thinking of her. A double gift :)
*these clothes
woohoo - greyed out the a square
Ata thats a lovely thing to say. I through out donated over 3 x 100 litre garbage bags and thats thats just the start
woot Becca :)
6 left
dang Re words woot becca
oh joy.... time to sew my son's long pants into shorts! LOL... he has grown out of his winter uniform and with all the holes in his trouser pants, we can afford to make them into shorts!
always a good choice, mrP :)
hooray for sunny weather in the southern hemi. shame i can't turn my summer clothes into winter wear so easliy :(
Mr Pres that is a great idea. I can remember a long time ago my exs 3 year olds long pants became 3/4 pants
saves me $60 on uniforms!
wow
that is a lot of books, mrP ;)
uniforms are so expensive
is it weird to still think about someone even though they were a bad person
Hello all - back for 93
Hi Urs
hi ursh
hi ursh
I don't think there are 100% bad people.
infern, as long as you learned from it, it was a good experience gone bad
this guy was an abusive sack of poo. I have learned. I guess im having late night thoughts (damn birthday approaching)
are there any wr words today?
I found 3 so far, becca
Yes Bec 3 of them
i have 3 also
ok, will keep bashing at them then, thanks
Mr Pres the boy of yours will be taller than you soon
are they normal words? the wr's?
um
yes and all come from the same root word
def english becca but not madly common
ok, keep trying
they all start the same, Becca.
still stuck at 4 left
(and I don't mean just the wr of course)
oh no I won't - time to go. may be back later, bye all
bye Becca
bye becca
later becca

Not when you cant see the keyboard even with the laptop light. in bed trying to find the last 2 words
Well, this is a fine mess. I was on earlier, entered lots of words into the non-improved, primitive version of babble that was available earlier on, and the new version has EATEN them.
Some are here, some are not.
nooooooo!
Hi all...clue please for se7/40???
Haz hi and there has been a lot of issues with babble tonight. I think we need to print out the list hand right it then copy it across if its being a pest
It's a pain, but it's character building. Or something.
new version?? Has lickety issued an updated version past beta 11
I luckly havent had any issues
no, babble, nono. not lickety's page. I think
but i didnt list it till 3 to go. need to kick myself over missing an obvious one
No, it's just that it's back to normal now, Nono. This morning's version was like something you would have nightmares about.
and done
Well done Herin.
oh ok sorry you had problems with it haz and glad i didnt come in earlier
se + if something happen often you will say it happens fre*****ly
woohooo Congrats Herin!
thanks bubba!!
*stares in disbelief at top letter e*
isnt it hideous!
*speechless*
Well, at least you're having some feeling about it...
hello
Hello TO.
Morning, y'all.
hi TO
hi Judi
Hi again everyone! I see babble is in better shape than several hours ago...
hi judi
hi Uniquity
Hi all, loads of REs, I see...yuch!
i slept in a bit later this a.m. and am glad i did by the sound of how things were here this morning
hi liz
It ate my words, Uniquity, not all but some. And now I have to try and remember them!
I hate that. It could at least eat none of them or all of them
I know. Consistency would have been nice.
Would consistency be important in curried snags?
Word snacking can only lead to problems later in life.
consistency would definitely be useful in poking the curried snags
Maybe that's what the poking is for - to check for consistency?
maybe! we should ask herin
Too late, she's gone to bed, I think.
she's the expert though
True, though who knows, there may be others with knowledge.
there might! I wonder ...
do you think 80 words is sufficient about of words to go to the list or not yet keep trying?
thats a very personal question
You go to the list when you want to. There are no babble inspectors.
apart from Haz on a bad day
lol i know but i like a challenge but i started this to early in the morning my brains going to explode lol
any1 got a 13 letter word
there is none
unsurprisingly, no
Everyone has different levels of vocab and/or patience. Some people like to torture themselves for as long as possible, others use the list earlier.
wat about 12
The longest words today have 8 letters.
oh ok
Just to save you doing a backwards countdown, like an auctioneer desperate to shift some unworthy lot.
ok im not going to the list til atleast 110
Good morning/afternoon, all.
morning
Good morning Scarlet.
Good afternoon, Haz!
And how are you today?
G'morning Scarlet :)
Hello Scarlet
36 left to go. Will leave them for work tonight I think. Bye for now.
bye bye liz
liz - how was Venice - I see your icon!
Well, thank you, Haz. This is one of those odd days with no particular identity...it doesn't feel like a Friday, nor any other day of the week... a suspension of sorts.
Good morning, Nono and ursh, Liz and all others I may have missed.
I know what you mean, Scarlet, some days are like that. Any plans for the weekend?
Venice was wonderful, Haz. Food delicious, weather fantastic, gondoliers fit!!
That's so good to hear, liz. I'm delighted all went well. What a place!
And the little grandchild, what news?
Indeed ! BBL
Okay, speak to you again.
Fortunately, we are taking the weekend to just relax... a departure from the insanity of the last few weeks... visitors from out of state. Do you and your husband have any plans? I thought of you yesterday when it was announced on the news that due to our state's severe drought conditions, there have been many cases of Fescue Foot, and the mortality rate is climbing. Sad.
Wee Jack is actually home, most surprisingly. He was expected to be in hospital at least a month, but once he started to mend he got on with it quick-smart !
My sister's coming tomorrow afternoon and we are to sally forth to buy her a new TV set. That means two bemused and bewildered women at the mercy of a TV salesman.
That's great, liz, they recover so quickly after plunging you into despair. Good news all round.
Hello all
gray and humid here
Haz do you not have an available teenager to take with you
Hello peri.
Hello, dear peri!
morning peri
Mind you even a 10yr old would be a good "buyers guide"
may I please have clues for the 8's
No, ursh, sadly I have no teenagers at home. (Not a sentence many people are known to utter)
Enjoy your session with TV salesman. Hope it's not Currys...you'd know more yourself!
There's an adventure, Haz. Best wishes and calming thoughts to you and you sister!
Back later.
We'll just want a simple TV - nothing too big, nothing too complicated. One where the manual is smaller than War and Peace.
definitely dont go to currys then, they;ll try and sell you a 60" plasma screen
em8/45 - three letters of a precious green stone, followed by fork prongs.
Teenagers are useful with cellphones/tvs/hifi/etc - one can hand new cellphone to him/her and say play with it and then teach me only what "i" need to know
LOL, exactly, ursh.
thanks Haz
We'll go to the shop we always visit - they have a good variety and after sales service.
haz are all tv stations over there being forced to go digital like they are here in the states?
Arent' we supposed to be all-digital by 2009, Nono?
Yes, the country is being switched over gradually with the last analogue signal being cut in 2012.
by 2009 many tvs here will be worthless without some sort of converter
have been putting off buying new tv for the livingroom until the prices come down a bit
It'll probably force her to go digital before she really wanted to. Not that either of have the slightest idea about the whole thing. We need a teenager, you're right.
What staggers us, Nono, is that the upper tier cable channels always have a highly defined image and sound engineering, while the local channels are a mess of transmission quirkiness.
g morning
Good morning harpjane.
i know Scarlet! it really is strange
Good morning, Harpjane... Mother Teresa!
morning harpjane
Right, I'm going to be good and do some housework. See you later.
hello harpjane
take care Haz enjoy the day
Afternoon - all. How's the grid looking today?
Hello sandie - not too bad
its somewhat friendly sandie
Until another time, Haz.
Oh good - suffering from brain ache today.
Hello, Sandieangel.
hey, sandie :-)
does anyone have an icon clue for me?
Hi there, Une!
hey, scarlet!
bleh im stuck at 100 words
Good morning! How's the grid today?
Hi, Krista. Une, is that you with your Raggedy Anne doll? Wonderful picture!
Morning Krista, the grid is not too bad today
(my icon is a clue, Harp, but you prob already have it)...looks like a fun one, Nono
Well I made 83 words quickly and am now slowing down - A LOT.
i have the em32 it732 me732 pr732 pri736 and the si728 please can i have some clues for the other 7s please
hi Krista, not too bad, but I got stuck at 157 and had to go to the list
yes, scarlet--found some old pix at my mom's last week--that's my playhouse my dad built--and my mom planted bachelor buttons all around it!
Oh, Une... it is such a sassy photo... are you still the happy "kid"? LOL
Hi, pabtrek!
hmmmm
hi Scarlet
LOL.
oh, one of those "hit the wall" grids, Pab....LOVE the pic, Une! How sweet. That could win an award.

TGIF, bf
indeedly
Why isn't posie a word?
Yes and neither is Rosie.
Is it posey?
I always thought it was
funny
why does Q have a u
guess because it almost always is followed by a u
last week (?) there was a 'u' beside the Qu..really messed us up
However, we have to remember that this is babble where the usual rules of language and spelling are often suspended. It is an alternate universe!
indeed it is sandie
any clues for es7 please?
can anyone clue the em6/21 - the one before the 7/32 plz?
i know where to find you flosey
what's going on here?

Sounds like an alternate spelling for the first m/6
hmmm - still stuck on that es7 - I think I almost have it - but doing something wrong.
Clue for the r/8--it's driving me crazy.

hey TO!
Welcome to the world of babble addicts redshoes!
hi there redshoes
es7 - es, repeat the vowel, a German river, minus the h.
phew. just feels good to get that off my chest. ;^) Happy Friday, all. What's the theme? Never changed my icon for theme Friday...
OMG - I was 1 letter out all the time! Ty so much Haz.
thanks, haz!!
Usually, the theme on Fridays is to pick a word from the grid and find a picture to correspond. You'd have to use your imagination with mine at the minute!
ty, must look tath one up
You're welcome (re es7)
spangle is in a po4/5
oooooh. nice ata!
an 7,32 anyone?
This is true. And if I found a picture of Scrooge, I could have mi5/12
or jack benny
hmmmm
What you would plant to get a/5
what if I put up a picture of Aesops fables? Would that work for lo4/4?
But I'm going to find one of Waldorf and Stadler from the Muppets to illustrate me7/32.
nice clue! : )
thanks, jan!!

another word for ridiculous
aha - got it now! ty.
yw, so glad to help
is there more than one word with a "q" "inside"?
there are 4 q words Une
sorry, don't know about inside
no, i mean words that don't start with a q, like se7
Only one interior Q, Uneaixoise...
but thanks anyway, flosey :-)
thanks, jan
(But I wasted a lot of time trying to make one with the re...)
thanks jan, so I have it
me too
OK finally fireworks--those pr's were too plentiful for my taste...
second em 6,21 please
Plural of the em/5
got that one, need the next em6,21
im going home soon :)
The plural is the second one; there is an earlier em/6 that isn't a plural but related to the em 7 and 8's
That is the one I need, Jan
me6/21 anyone plz?
Do you have the 7 and 8? If not, all three are kind of bio-chemical words...
em 7 = em + vowel + fork
I'm off, later perhaps
Both me6/21's are homonyms. The first one is a palyground name for a cruel person.
Oops, that' "playground."
Thanks Jan and Wyrd for the em's
got that me6 - is the one linked with the me 7/32 I am looking for.
phantom: wristlet
Actually, Sandieangel, it isn't truly a homonym afterall. But is sounds a lot like the first me/6.
there is only one me6 that is the childs name for someone who is nasty, then the plural for the me7
sorry, my mistake
Oh, and the me/7 is the plural, as you've probably guessed.
Yes, got those - is the second set of me6 and 7 I need.
And speaking of playgrounds, it's the next word in the chant "eeny, meeny..."
again, thanks, jan!!
You're quite welcome...
does that second me6 have a double vowel in it?
aha - I got them - ty for the clues.
re8,40 anyone?

clue for that pr7 please
ah -- as always, the answer is to refresh!
i see your clue, nan. i see black for pab . have you refreshed?
ends with mi 4/5 pab
the last pr 7 is the one who is more of the pr 5,12 before it
temple's clue icon, sandie for the os

past of se5, fishing gear

no the second is similar, just a different second vowel
ahhh tx pab !
ty pab
yw
There are two me6/7 pairs. Similar in spelling

em 6 -- 2nd one, please?

either or both of the last pr7/32 words anyone plz?
pr + vowel + se4/4
my last pr7 ends with the hole in the ground mi 4/5
stuck on that middle ne 4!
n + double vowel + middle of the road cons.
the last pr7/32 is more of the pr5/12
ty mtl
ah tx pab, now have 3 pr7 !
yw, so you need one more montreal
ni 5?
pl of ni4
first ni 5, please?
ni + 1st 3 letter of number 6 in spanish
still stuck on the pr7/32 - the one before the word that goes with cons.
pr 7/32 Past, Pr7, future
probably the one i'm missing sandie
I've got the pr7 that means now or a gift - it is the one after that I need.
pr7/32 before the pr** & cons word = pr + personal pronoun + a word meaning dry or arid.
don't know spanish -- just french
and not very well!
i think ni5 also refers to Japanese index like the Dow - the ni*** index
but not sure...
of course -- merci mtl
pr + vowel + coal m***, then plural for the 8
bienvenue nan
pr7..to force something open plus the 2 letters that we hate to start words with on abble
Oh hi all..........
no the Japanese index is the Nikkei the ni is a word meaning of Japanese descent but born in the US or Canada
tx pab - had the 7 - just did not see the plural ...
hi caitlyn
prise
35 to go -- time for a coffee break!
yw

I am barely halfway and have been at this forever! This grid is killing me...
bbnaz howtheheckareyou!
hey jacs!
Hi everyone, this is craqzy
a lot of words but not in grid
must they be linked tog
that seems like not enough are
changed my clue icon because I always miss this one on the first run through -- or 2nd, or 3rd!
Afternoon, all. Lol. Just got the qu7/40. Didn't know it was possible to be more qu5/16.
what does all this 7/40 anad fractions mean
I see you're staying in the meat "family" . . . LOL
wi 7/44:
the second wi6,7 combo is the same as the first, except change the last two letters to two vowels, then plural
wi = first 2 letters in word
7 = number of points in word 44 = number of points in word
karisma2, the numbers are in relation to the words they represent. 7 40 would mean the word had seven letters with a combined point total of 40. At the bottom of the babble page under the heading "friends of babble" are many helpful links if you're just starting.
re8.40 and re7.28 anybody?
thank you, I see them
yes, just starting
re + or6/18
re 8,40 re + the far east
re + ri5/10
Karisma, check out those links then, particularily lickety's and angelsongs, I think. It's tricky at first, but very addicting. Have fun!
ty bubba, but I've finished -- was explaining the alpha numeric code for karisma -- hit return instead of shift return
that thud was my head hitting the keyboard
anyone need a clue before I leave?
oh just 31 please
sure, bbnaz -- which ones? --- pouring here today, so am at loose ends
jillibus and flosey insist on sending their rain our way!
how about the last a7.32
an7 is whgat you plant to get an4,4
a7: another version of the an 5/10 before it -- a spice

i really don't get these 7/19 things
Hi folks back for my last 13 words.
Karisma do you have the se7; se + what you get for flying from the airline fre***** flyer miles
has anyone got the se6/21 - after the word that means half
Karisma, the first number is the number of letters in the word, the second number is the point value-- for a four letter word it is the total of the point, for a 5 letter word it is doubled, a 6 letter word tripled, etc, etc
se6 take the se 4,5 and add one **tion under god
Ty so much Bubba
ty but did not accept na+
Karisma, it is se + do, ra, ** + one **ation under god
I guess I just don't get it
To complete the se words I need the se7/32 before the word that uses the high score tile. any clues I would be most grateful forplz
se7; se + what you get for flying from the airline fre***** flyer miles
sewer
oops, sorry, that was not supposed to bne in this box

ty bubba
yw

pr8-50 please
crp, I have your cat's twin here....too cute
really
polo is 10 years old, got him as a stray from the vets office
yep..the are identical..well, mine is probably a bit fatter...but he is ten too...
hi all ! - pr 7 + pr + vowel + "hole in the ground" - pr8 is plural
we call him Norton (or Norto)
good picture of your cat, he looks like a real easy going type
ty montreal
yw crp
lol...well that isn't him...that was one I just googled...truly he looks like your polo
mine is at 16.5 pounds, but that is what most british blues weigh

prednisone face
LOL....well maybe they really are twins!! :)
Thanks. Got a ways to go after all.
that is tiny atalante
yes, Atal, you would have a flat cat
yup, her mum was a tiiiiiny black burmese, and she's inherited the smallness. we call her minicat
thats a good name
she's called silverclaw really. or sily. or psychothing
my husband calls my cat " just the old gray cat"
there, Sily back as my icon :)
pretty cat
she is! she managed to get her mum's burmese shape and size and aloofness, and her dad's tabby stripes. wonderful combination
what a sweetie!
thinking of getting another cat since polo is 10+ years but don't want to upset the boy cat
maybe a rescue cat, not a kitten? older cats tend to get on better with 2 or 3 year olds than kittens, I think
try not to do that...upset him...we have 4 here and are definitely paying the price (in fact, i would be happy to ship you one.....)
lol
<---- very serius....
serious, even
i have never had but one and he has never been around any other cat so it is a big decision
10 isn't old really, if he isnt too crotchety, he should adjust to a new one
can you believe i am still stuck on that hole in the ground clue
yes, if you get two at one time those two tend to do better -- and they tend to entertain eachother
a biiiiiiiiiiiig hole in the ground
(I am still stuck on that clue too crp)
where people extract stuff...
hole in the ground = not yours but ****
well, open-cast versions are big holes in the ground, others are big holes under the ground

hi
anyone else in the mood to gripe about bosses. we could have a boss griping fest
hi, Hurshy
note how fest is a word, btw
omg mine is the biggest azz k talk bout politician
see, then i should not complain, mine's nice but he was driving me crazy today anyawy
i wish
off to find some food for dinner, may be back later, bye
he just has the type of brain where he can't process anything very quickly, and generally he has trouble processing things you say and things on the computer, he has to see them on paper.
bye bubba tyvm for clues
hi everyone, some help with the ni5,10 please?
bye, bubba
hehe hursh u's woman and there u go
hi frogface
and so he likes everything to be very simple, and i'm the opposite, i like every detail to be spelled out
hi biltong
hi frog
trails r always good to save your behind
sorry, I don't have the ni5/10 either
mine does not like any figures whatso ever ... believes he understands everything just on gut instinct
but it's annoying because i feel like i can't win, sometimes i try not to overthink, and just do things, and then it turns out i should have thought more. then other times, i overthink and they tell me not to.
hi joanne, just three to go now, also need the eo's if anyone can help with them.
eo + 7 deadly
then add vowel
sorry none here
hello story of my life at work
eo +si4/4
thanks hurshy, just the ni5,10 now for my fireworks.
i don't listen cause i no i'm right in the end ..i mean i make sure i am in the end
and the WORST part is that when he criticises what you did, he does NOT want to hear any of the reason why you did it, he just doesn't care and can't be bothered to process it, which is maddening because of course you don't want someone to think you're nuts, you want them to know you had a rational reason for what you did
lmao he tried to call me on in office today and was very pink in the end hehe
i let him have it
I hear that... my boss keep saying we should take decisions and then tells us off for taking them ... saying he thinks we should take decisions but 'learn from them' ... in otherwords only make decisions he agrees with ... does not listen to the reasoning at all
in a semi nice way
exactly, emamaria
but if u r gonna start something u better be ready for a good finish
people need to make up their minds about what they want, and if they want you to decide things, then they need to trust you.
even if they don't agree with you - and that is the hardest part of delegation but necessary ...
we're not mind readers!
hehe told boss that to
well, so, i sent him two emails at the end of today, one for me and one for him. one where i explained why i had done what i did, cause i couldn't stand not to
and then one where i just said, i'm sorry and i will do better in the future.
this is good
Lol - OK I was going to ask if you had done the wait before sending but you just did the two messages thing
yes because the first email might annoy him, but you can't stay annoyed at someone after a second message like that, lol
hurshy dear, there is something you have to realise. there is the real world, and the world of bosses. work as you want to, but then you have to translate that in boss speak. only then will the boss be happy!
Never underestimate the power of saying sorry it enables you to so so stay in the game ...
i have customers up my butt because they started too many new things at once ..like inventory and scanning system and heck business as usual even though shut down . so behind can't think straight
yeah but sometimes you can't translate it, ata
bosses tend to be politicians
evening all
what industry you work in hurshy
hi mom!!!!!!!
oh you can. somehow. If I can translate things for my up-in-the-clouds, doesn't know anything about the oil industry but has been an oil industry consultant for 40 years, more interested in NLP than results boss, so can you :)
like, i had to tell these shippers that a thing HAD to be done monday, and i did, and then he's wanting me to call them like every hour to find out if they've made the arrangements yet, and like, i know from talking to them that they are working on it, and they'll let me know, and there isn't any point in harrassing them, but he doesn't believe that
Hi Joanne :)
or maybe babies ..want want want ...
and hursh what r they saying bout u harassing them cause i no
i'm there u's on the other end
so you phone them once, tell them your batshit crazy boss is bugging you, and get them to say everything's under control. then tell boss
but they never believe it
and ask them about the weather and the sport (whichever is appropriate) and their family
they just want u to look like an azz
then you refuse point blank to phone any more and give boss their number!
and so then, it was sort of funny, because my theory is also that higher up people tend to get more results when they make phone calls. so yesterday i emailed him and said they had to rent equipment and everything was booked for today, but they were trying for monday (so it's like, what are they gonna do, right, they can either get something or they can't), so i forwarded him the email about that and i did just that ata, i said here is the guy's number in NY if you want to call him and give him hell, bribery, or whatnot.
so then he says, oh, i won't call, it won't do any good, just wait and follow up tomorrow. lol
lol
sooooooo typical
*grins* always works
and of course it worked out all fine and dandy today, as i expected. *sits down with air of finality* gripe fest over. he really is a decent guy, we just think differently.
the second you actually challenge most bosses, they will back down because they ca't be bothered
my boss keeps saying "" get temps get temps""
The thing I can not stand is the sulking - been in two long term jobs now with defensive sulking bosses. So much effort taken in just how to raise anything with them ....
and sorry but there r good temps here in toronto canada but most r wet behind the ears and don't give a crap ..and that's what i get mostly
1st re6-21 please
re flower??
ty joanne
yvw
i think i got all the crazy temps here tho ...too funny
well, now i feel bad, you guys are worse off than i am
but soo busy i have no time to babysit and i get sooo frustrated
ohh sorry hursh we r here for ya
Nah ... we all have our own crosses ...
no no, don't be sorry
told boss yesterday tho.. f... i don't get paid enuff for this
the commiseration has been great. but it has also made me feel that things could be worse!
who does
i am so under pressure ..always
u need to tell boss to communicate exactly what he expects
it always could be worse ... that is one of murphy's laws isn't it?
ah well, it's only been six months, i'm sure things will continue to improve as we get to understand more of the way each other works
better to start now
my other bosses, the ones who own the company, are great, and reasonable, and i've pleased them 99% of the time, so, that's reassuring.
that way u's will know what each expects
i don't have that
been there nine years
nip it in the butt now
better relationship that way i think
I think Ata was right it is a lot to do with how you communicate your work/decisions rather than what you do - sometimes when you don't have a good fit it is actually learning the language that fits rather than changing the what you do - but is is extremely fustrating
Hey all :)
sometimes it's just different personalities and u need to find a common ground
hi hodag
howdy 0334
*extremely* frustrating!
jo is good hodag
what is atl?
speaking of frustrating, seems like this grid is a little on the hardish side?
my colleague and I once spent 4 hours trying to explain the concept of company debt to our boss, who has worked in financial roles at oil companies all his life. Talk about frustrating!
LOL HELL YAHHH
sounds like u may have been talkin to the monkey's huh
me to 0334 except for the fact we are still getting a lot of rain ever since yesterday!!........:)
our boss is just away with the fairies sometimes
which may have understood more
hodag, i believe joanne0334 was suggesting that "jo" would be a good thing to call her, as opposed to 0334
lol ty
see, i am generally quite good at translating
all righty then........lol
very
when people listen! :)
Listening is such a rare skill
see u r good at it hursh
ata, doesn't poirot like sirop?!?!
i work with hubby and we r good together but when i am in the middle of something he seems to think i should just stop and pay attention... that's the only time i want to hurt him
oh yes, I've been grumbling about sirop too!
if that is the only time you have a very rare relationship
yes we r soul mates i think ..scary at times too
my mom does that, jo! you can have ten people watching a movie in the family room and she'll just walk in and start talking to someone
he thinks it i say it and vise versa
he does that too hursh
i want "requiem"
I wanted requin
hursh how old r u if u don't mind me asking??
just cause your comment
i have 18yr old son and 20yr old daughter
it's scary having kids that old cause daughter has things going on right now...friend died
19 he was
so sad
so sorry Jo..:(
i didn't know him but still sad
oh, an op forone of my favorite games! how old do i seem?
very hard
hursh u don't want me to answer
yes it is ,lol to your daughter!
yes i do yes i do
ooooolllllllld
it is so FASCINATING to hear how old i come across
just for what i read so many times and the think u know
things too

who's your icon, hurshy?
ata is cheating, she has met me
my icon is james roday, of "psych" on USA
(the funniest show in the history of television)
yes, sorry. I know. and 72 isn't the right answer. More like 80
whom is that?lol
that's great tho ..you met atal from here??
i'd be scared
yes, and i visited with her in london on my Grand Tour. we had tea at the ritz and went to used bookstores and whatnot.
cool
you can't be scared at the ritz
stuff the tourist sites - tea and bookshops is the way to go!
no internet
i don't knoe
know ... sorry
so - how old are you, hurshy?
i heard i was beautiful tho in england
yes but jo if you MEET someone AT the ritz, even if you've only previously met them on the internet... you can't be scared. anyway we had chatted tons and tons and i also visited sprite and bex.
yes hursh how old??
next saturday, i will be 30.25
yes, we'd talked for years before
i am 41 yrs young
not YEARS, maybe A year
that was all? wow
i hear chickens gobbling
ohh almosttttt 31
well, i joined in oct 2005
be happy bout that
we started chatting more when iron sudoku started...
i wish

and so??
because, you needed me to teach you about sudoku logic
i joined on Monday this week
lol
and we met in august 2006.
thats true! :)
no, july.
hullo to all! Need help on the se7.40 for rockets
wow. it just seemed like years!
listen if you want me to make you feel better bout your boss anymore you will come clean
so really i guess we'd only been bff for like four months!
!!
Hurshy was going to move just to be near me, and then she changed her mind. I was denied. *sniff*
is this a "i know you and love you so it seems like i've known you and loved you forever" seeming like years, or a "geez, feels like an eternity" seeming like years
"i know you and love you so it seems like i've known you and loved you forever" of course!
lol see
clue from before
i'm sorry vi! i'd ruther be near you than not, but it was too scary to move to an expensive apartment without having a job secured
I know, I know!
se + fre ***** to be somewhere often
it's the quips
EmaMarie, I am so happy you joined up!
thank you thank you thank you for the rockets
she's just being polite, vi
that is the nicest thing anyone has said to me all week . thanx
yam not!
Well, fine then, Ata. I don't see her moving to be near you, either!
now i am off to experience my high school's 50th anniversary (not mine, it has only been 33 years since i graduated)
*giggles* she wants to though!
i can beat that! emamaria, you are beautiful beyond compare and brilliant into the bargain.
IF that's the case, EmaMaria, I can top it: you must be a wonderful, intelligent, kindly, brilliant woman to be here on Babble!
nite all, see you at the flip! I am sure the lovefest will be in full swing ;~)
apparently i don't NEED to live near vi, as we share thought patterns.
Oh wow - can we have this competition every night! lol
meanwhile i have been here an hour and found only one word. less chat may be in order.
lol, hursh. Two minds with about a million different thought, some of which happen to coincide.
LOL
you mean we're not in the borg collective?
I'm pretty unborgy, really.
me too. maybe we're in the anti-borg collective
who's the babble borg queen?
harry potter is so helpful. i found the mirror of Erised so i knew to get de6
haz!
lol true!
Well, that's part of why I think I'm not too borgy: I'm not a consistent rebel, either.
But I am a fan of Victor Borge.
good thing haz probably would have no idea what it meant if anyone told her she'd been compared to the borg queen
180and finished for the night...congrats to all for finishing and getting close byeeeeeeeeeeeee
good night
Bye, joanne.
lol yes, she'd have no idea
Haz couldn't be the borg queen. The borg queen never fools around.
but it's the BABBLE borg queen, so, you know, it's different
Well, I suppose that's true.
ok, i have no 8's. tell me what they start with, and clues for the non-fishy ones, please? :)
isn't the clues bord(g) the queen
i assume at least one is re...
em8 - pl of em7 ending in fork prong
it8, you can get
em, it, pr, re
pr8 - pl of pr7 ending in gold quarry
8's pr, re, pr
re8 - you can get
and it8
8's -it-
8's em
ok i got 3, can i just have the third letter of the re8, because i'm sure i can get it but there are a million things i could think of along the way, with an re
Goodness, what a cloud of witnesses you're getting, hursh.
reo
bible --> dorothy sayers book --> vi in babble chat
Another murder on the eastbound train?
trickle down phraseonomics
(You traced the path!)
there, that's 8's done, and some 7's along the way too! thanks all!
everyone thinks that's like, the best christie book, and yet, it's the only one i can never re-read, bc, as i know i've mentioned here before, i can never remotely forget what happens!
I don't reread much of any Christie books, actually.
The point of them is the puzzle so once you know it, what's the point?
if you can forget whodunit, you can enjoy the puzzle again
and also, some of them create worlds that one wishes to re-enter
I can understand reading them twice - so you can read it again seeing all the hints you missed
Time to go throw the babies into the bathwater. I'll be back in a couple of minutes.
however, sayers is much more amenable to re-reading, because so much MORE of the enjoyment from her mysteries is the world and the characters and such.
(Good point, Ata.)
i feel like being around lord peter more often than i feel like being around poirot. and anyway, sayers was the better writer by at least double.
and if a book is one of my favourites, I'll reread it and reread it even when I can quote vast swathes of it
meeeee too. you just get cravings to live with some favorite characters for a while.
its like wearing an old comfy jumper in winter. it just makes you smile
as i often say, you don't eat an apple and say, mmm, that was good, i never want another apple, give me a different fruit every day!
i almost never reread a book
we could pontificate for hours on the glories of re-reading, couldn't we, ata? lol
there are, however, only 2 books I've ever read where I've finished and immediately turned back to the beginning because I couldn't bear to finish reading them
which which?
well that is true - I have cried because a book was finished
i was tempted to with HP7 but it was so long, so i only immediately re-read certain bits.
Silmarillion of course! And one of China Miéville's books called "The Scar". That was a strange experience, I just did not want to leave that world. I just couldn;t
that is why i love series of books. you can stay in the world longer without repeating the same story right away.
oh yes :)
marty is VERY relieved that it is friday night.
I'm sure! Cinder and Mitten too!
i find that scary sometimes - I read difficult books because I never wanted to be somewhere else too much ..
like wanting to be too thin, too happy, too rich
oh I love that feeling when 3 hours passes by and you have no clue because you're so deeply in a book
marty particularly though, because he sort of gets satisfied over the weekend and then as the week goes by, he gets more and more desperate every night. WHY were you away all day AGAIN, momma?
atalante, every time three hours passes by with me in a book, i am late for somewhere. that feeling, for me, is panic.
well, you guys and this game aare too much for me
i think i actually literally believe that time does not pass when i'm reading. or at least, that it shouldn't.
I did that with "Gaudy Night," ata.
it maketh no sense to me, that time passes during reading.
I agree
it is the best feeling - this is why I occasionally fear it
vi, did i tell you, when i was at oxford on my england trip, i am SURE i saw the very spot in the river where harriet first realized she loved peter
No, you didn't mention it. That's so cool!
i was like, that's it!
Were there ducks?
isnt oxford wonderful :)
I've never been. =(
i don't remember if there were ducks. i remember the trees though, and that there were people who did not understand how to punt.
well it is OK - but Liverpool is fab...
also, there was a crew shell named Sir Osis of the River - i'm sure i told you that.
yes, i felt i could have stayed at oxford forever, ata.
You might be slighly biased, EmaMaria! =)
I do like Liverpool, but I love Oxford
That's funny. It's so much more fun to name inanimate objects than sentient beings.
well, i think the main trouble with naming sentient beings is that you do it when you don't know what they're like yet.
dratted birth certificates and social security cards
True. But also "Ima Hogg" doubless seems a lot less clever when you're sentient.
well, that too.
but i enjoyed naming my cats, and they are semi-sentient
marty was so obviously martish
Yes, but my cat doesn't get her feelings hurt at all, even when I call her "You big, fat, lazy beast" and such.
oh my! i never say such things to my cats.
Well, now that we have fully sentient creatures in the house, we have tried not to use such language! lol
1st mi5-12 please
lol
But before that we verbally abused the cat regularly.
are you going to be like my mom ... "we don't say 'hate'" ... during sibling fights?
mi5/12 - latin pl of mi4/5
I don't know. I'll have to wait until they try it!
we also were not allowed to say, "butthead"
I think I can safely say that I will discourage that one, anyway!
aw, but it's such a fun word
Well, I am generally opposed to fun, of course.
sorry - I am proudly biased but also now with company - love to you all ..
oh right, you're a mom, so you have to be
It's my best friends' favorite word I think, though.
Goodbye, EmaMaria.
they will make up their own "swear" words anyway
i have never had a favorite word, per se. i mean, i suppose everyone has words that they use a lot. but i mean a favorite word like you really just love it. i have had short-term favorites but no clear winner. but now i think i may have actually found it.
marty?
no
I'm sure they will find all sorts of ingenious ways to torment me, the brilliant little monsters.
fireworks, ty for the mi clue
One of my favorites is "clarity." I just love the way it sounds. And "worm," which is so wonderfully wormy.
So, what is it then, hursh?
it's really random, you're going to think it's weird... but i think my all time favorite word may be... sixpence.
thats a very nice word
its very satisfying
and you can sing a song of it
or you can have it and be none the richer
It's good for singing a song of.
I like words like moonshine
You type faster than me, hurshy!
and it would get you lots of points if you had a handy E to play it off of in scrabble
meep meep
Here's a really excellent phrase: moonlit macadam. I want to name a female detective that.
dang it, there are so many fabulous words, i guess that is why we love word games.
We get so drunk on words that we are seldom really sober?
i like "och! aye. imph'm."
those scots, what a riot
Only if they all come together, though. lol
my favourite babblet is netop. I like that word
and on that note, I'm off to bed to gaze at the moon-shine
s'long as you aren't drinking it
Goodnight, Ata bright.
oh no :) just watching it through the window!
you know what vi said about getting drunk on words
night my dears!
night!
And think of my poor cat's real name: Nightshade.
as cast by the moonshine, I mean.
(forgot to say, my really favourite word is a proper noun - there's a genus of fish called Abudefduf)
That's excellent.
isn't it! love the way it sounds and reads. really gone now :)
Oh, me too. Must administer toothbrushings, bedtime readings, and tuck-ins.
pr8 please?
it's a plural of the one above mary
that would help if I had the one above it
LOL sorry
let me see if I can clue it
new to this
thx praise
pr8 =' pr4/6 & proper' + 'not yours but ****'.
pr+ 3rd vowel + not yours
+ plural
pr7 & 8.
I'll get my act together in a minute. LOL
ty jac
I was getting there
slow but sure!! LOL
ty jacula & priase
yw
tks, jac & p2h -- every little clue helps!
good grief still have 94 to find
y/w, Mary. I'll let you do the next one, praise.:)
LOL jac
mom23 - Don't forget it's still Friday icon day in some parts of the world. My icon is a clue and you will see what if you click on my bio.
good clue on your bio, jacula. I had all but one
yeah I wish that you had been on here earlier when I was struggling with those words jac! :)
praise - Sorry, I was out watcing our local amateur dramatic group do their latest play.
Maybe I should have taken my laptop along? LOL
cool--what did they perform?
Alan Ayckbourn's 'Season's Greetings'.
hmm don't think that I have heard of that one
Google it.
hope that it was a good time
It was very funny.
sounds like it
sorry to say that I don't get to many plays and most of them are musicals
Our local group tries to do 2 plays a year.
Musicals are fun, too.
we have a local theater group here too
last one that I saw there was "the Sound of Music"
Last live musical I saw was 'South Pacific' with Rusty Lee playing 'Bloody Mary'. It was v. good.
Have seen that one too
Mind you, if you are not from UK you probably won't have heard of Rusty Lee. LOL
but it was a high school group performance
sorry I am in Ohio here
i was in a production of Anything Goes! with a local theatre group this past spring. Hello.
good for you
dcs - you're braver than me! I get stage fright and my voice refuses to come out, or comes out too loud.
hi, i saw the play wicked over the summer when the national tour came to philadelphia
last musical I was in was "Lil Abner" when I was in high school!!
long time ago
how, was it angel? I missid when it was here.
Hi angelina. I don't think I know that play. Must look it up.
it was great
i think it might be the best musical i've ever seen
anyone seen hursh?
it's the story of the wicked witch from the wizard of oz
i know the music from it is very popular.
she was on earlier
dcs - It was a long time ago when I got stage fright, too. LOL. Even public speaking makes me sweat, unless it's speaking up at a meeting or something. I'm okay as long as 'the spotlight' isn't on me, so to speak.
she and i were playing scrabble, or were about to, and she disappeared
that's not unusual, jacula, happily, for most people it doesn't come up much.
Hi, feather. Maybe her internet connection zapped?
that's what i was wondering
i don't like public speaking either even though i'm a teacher, but used to speaking in front of kids
hmm, gonna check the weather map
dcs - they do say the 'best players' almost die of stage fright before they go on.
angelina, i was saying the exact same thing at open house
lol
i can speak to a room full of kids, or speak one on one with parents, but a room full of parents...nuh uh!
that's the truth
good point, jacula
we finally got a slight bit of rain today, after 38 days without. We may get some more up to mignight local time, hopefully.
Maybe the adrenalin makes for a better performance... if the voice can be coaxed out of the mouth.
mayhap, though my experience on stage is that the lights are so blinging, that the audience almost doesn't matter.
The worst ti5/12 I've had in the spotlight for cold sweats were poetry readings, when asked to read/perform my own stuff. It's like reading your diary out!
dcs - That's just what one the our local company actresses said to me tonight...' The lights are blinding and, anyway, without my glasses on, I can't see a thing out there'.
i started reading my poetry at the annual poetry service at my church, which helped with feeling less exposed with general readings, since it was a familiar group.
play i was in last year, on of the actress had to be shown to her etry spot to get on stage, she did alright on, then some one met her to lead her back to the green room.
I could cope with it at poetry workshops in schools but you try doing it at a Writers' Conference; all those other writers. EEK! Having said that, a friend of mine (now passed on) who regularly had to give talks at conferences since she was a best-selling author, often used to drag me up on stage bodily with her to hold her hand and stop her shaking.
huh. Nice that you had that calming effect for her. :)
LOL, dcs. I'd be the same. Probably trip over the props or something.:(
hello all
darn jac since you said that about clues no one has asked!!
LOL
Yes, dcs... though, since I am not a household name, I could see the conference newbies thinking, 'Who the heck's that?' LOL
timid
hi karisma
karisma - nope, timid isn't in the grid.
having a hard time learning this
eh, let them wonder.
eh, let them wonder.
Hi again everyone
hi, mom. is that you in the picture?
it gets easier karisma
praise - Oh dear!
Hi Dcs, no it is my mom
i have 70 words, and I have been back and forth all day
when she was 18
beautiful!
pretty mom mom
49-year-olds don't have Marcel waves, Dcs. LOL. It's her Mum.
today's puzzle has been rather a challenge, karisma.
{{Ren}}} hello
karisma do you use the babble clues?
this one is harder

It must be the pr + willow, but I'm not getting it yet---
Jellen - both my clues lead to the same word.
Superlative of pr5/12 (not poetry).
Oooh. Dense here. Thanks Jac.
No, not superlative.
Oh, you got it anyway. LOL.
May I have some help with the 8 letter words, please.
Last qu, qu6/27?
Time is running out and I am 0/4 with those
Jellen - LOL! I read that as, 'OOOh. Denise here.' Mind you I've only known one Denise who wasn't a blonde.
Jellen - plural gay men?
plural of the 5 letter before it
Not 'royal' ones.
Thanks, Jac and Mom
you're welcome Jellen
Just had to click on your pic, Jellen, to see what it really was. Looked like a monkey smoking a huge cigar.
I would never promote smoking at the expense of such a cute little critter. lol
;)
Clues are going to be a few hours late today - sorry - going to town
Hello Lickety. Enjoy!
hey there lickety!
re 6/18 after re8, which is re + far east?
lickety - feel free to live your life. Most of us can manage if you take time out.xx
Hi Lickety!
In 'The Olden Days' we early players had no stats at all.
the sun comes up again, Jellen?
ty, Mom!
..And it's no use looking at my bio to see when I started playing because that only shows when I went pro (which was on day one, as the option was given to us.)
you're welcome Jellen. Working on your 8 letter clue
Hi, all!
Thanks Jellen, got the clue
Hello, pam.
Hi, pam

i'm not intentionally ignoring anyone, i've got severe chog lag. would that be chlag?
re 5/10 after re + flower?
re+ visualize
Speaking of love... my love was fast asleep in bed when I got home from my jaunt tonight. Poor chap has such early starts to his days. Even earlier in future... has to be in for 4am... which means going to bed about 8pm.
Have I mentioned lately that I despise re's?
hi all. how is the grid?
painful today, doxy. Hello.
A ti4 or two, Jellen. Yes. *grins*
Hi doxy. Fine for me, since I finished it hours ago. LOL
hi doxy. it's kind of a bear.
i thinks it's tough too
sorry to hear that. I guess I will try my best.
se 6/21, the second?
I didn't find finding the words in the grid painful, but the ti4 they took to register was... there were glitches on the site for those of in UK during our middle of the day ti4.
it was my last 20 or so that i wanted to swear.
se+ do re ** fa so la ti + it's not nice to fool with mother **ture
se6/21 (2nd) = se4/5 (half of an attached house) + abbreviation for the opposite of South Africa.
ty, lbd and Jac
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
hi, min
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!

Hi, Min
hi min
Hello, Minver. Welcome to the grid. (You just knew I was going to say that, didn't you?) xx
hell, miniver

Yes, this grid is hell dcseain.See you train of thought
I hope it gets better, Hursh! And, hi!
Hello Hurshy! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I sat and watched the 3-part child snatch drama 'Torn' last night (1st 2 parts) and today (last part).
lol pam
But I'd recorded those on SKy+ ages ago.
Jellen, posted mail + In My Opinion
ty, lbd
se7/32 sounds like old currency which begins 'ce'. Failing that, try se4/4 (mailed) + personal pronoun + modus operandii.
Hurshy, change the third letter of the previous 6/21 to the third consonant.
wow, jac--would have thought that that word began with a c....
pam - I said that. LOL.
starst with an S in ladino, at minimum, so other Latin languages may also.
yes, but it bore repeating, LOL
that ... is... not working
ah she means third vowel!
dcs - Yes. Some do 'c' , others do 's'.
It's tagalog, according to the dictionary
Ooh, I'm sorry, Hurshy.
sok i like it better when i have to work for it
I take it you've all got se7/40 (which uses the 5 point tile that is not a w?
in fact everyone should purposely mess up my clues in future. except not tonight when i'm worried my power could go out again.
i have it now, ty, jac
did your power go out due to the storm, hursh?
yes, for an hour
hi all
y/w, dcs.
my mom was getting ready to finish my grid with me over the phone when it came back
Shall we start a 'Mess Up Hurshy's Clues Club'??
Hi, Lu
finally vanquished the Ss. :)
oh, that stinks, hursh! Nice mom you have!!!
'Lo, Lu.
Hello LuwandaHL! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
my dad did it once before, when my internet went out. would've been harder with no power at all
hi, luwanda.
se 6/18, second from the last?
Jellen, calm
I was about to offer Haz same if her comuter had been in the shop for much longer, when she was last forced away from us.
I guess as addicted as I am, I don't always finish, so it wouldn't compel me like that...
peacful, jellen, or the 4/4+not out?
But, I am impressed, Jac!
I would miss the chat, though
back to finish up - two to go!!
se7/40 please

someon at work is offering kittens...i almost fell off my petless wagon today
My daughter's favourite word in Scrabble was 'zebu'. So, she was thrilled when on safari in Tanzania (Africa) to see them for real in Masai villages.
I am not sure if I played against the computer. I just played.Don't play it anymore.Had to cut down to the number of games I play. Addicted to too many games!
toea is one i like, good vowel dump
She didn't take to the Masai though, since they exploit other tribes.
qi, ki and za are now words. restructured my whole strategy.
wandering about am I... Hi, TO... Kittens are hard to resist...
I hate Scrabble for that! LOL
RESIST THE KITTENS, TO!
especially a luandry basket full of little orange tabbies

i need help with re6/18 and 7/28 pls.
Phantom words for me today are enemies and motion
Still apologising to 'horrible hunting cat' hee for shutting his paw in porch door as I arrived home. Well, how was I to know someone had let him out and he'd crept up behind me? No bones broken! ANd he did have a half-hearted slash at me when I grasped shut-in leg to check.
za, pathetically, is "pizza"
re618 = get up again
i have been seeing "enemies" all day as well as eminent
poor hunting cat...
re 7 28 = having gotten up again
nrkii, that is just wrong
re + get up or watch the sun****; add consonant for 7

Goodbye gramma! I will see you next week in the log!
HI Minerv.. you bagged out early last night I must say

an7/32 can be found by clicking on my bio.
hi peeps

TO, it's a plural
Hi tyger. Not seen you for a while.
Hi, tyger
hey, dc
hi jellen, jac
what, jac, a whole 24 hours? :)
dc what do you mean by false ending
we don't use that on7 word in North America, jac, it's thrown a number of us for a loop.
actually, not that long. I was here until the filp last nite
an7 word, rather
Something like that, tyger. LOL.
The old brain cells are failing.
ty jell
rururocks,I do not remember what time I bagged out

'Life's a sh*t and then you die,' apparently. I'm determined to prove that is wrong.
ni 5/10 is ni plus snake letter plus 2 vowels cameron5
g'night, angelina
ni 5/10 is a word for a Japanese-American of a particular generation, cameron
Goodbye angelinaxox! I'll see you tomorrow in the log

ty
I may have bagged out early, but at least I did finish the grid, which I WON'T accomplish tonite rururocks!
ee?
I believe the first syllable sounds like that joint in the middle of the leg, and the second one like "I ***, old chap"
The ee5/10 word means scary or strange LuwandaHL
ee5 - strange
i can't belive i missed it!!!
now for em's
Lu, this puzzle drove me nuts. I kept missing words that were obvious in retrospect
de 6/21 the first one
i finally gave up and went to the list
one who refused to accept, ru, a verb, 2nd person, present tense
He de**** everything, though we know he's guilty.
one who says "it didn't happen"
tyvm
Well I am bagging out early again tonight with 28 left
are you "wiped out" Min?
I can only imagine that UK folks are politcally correct around ni5/10 (a word nmot heard or used here in UK) because no one is any longer allowed to have a go at anyone about 'The War' (whichever one it was). I hate the Japs that condemned my Godfather to a long, slow death after WW2, I also hate the Germans who killed generation upon generation of Jews and others who di not fit in with 'The Plan for Perfexct People'. However, I don't hate those who had no choice in these matters. It only takes one or two egotists to start a War... maybe those who can't help rising to 'under bridge baiters' might see this one day.
there's enough time, if you've enough stamina :)
the longer i look at the grid, the stranger perfectly normal words look
you're right, Jac
Hi, girlie
de5/14
Hi Jellen
Everyone of every race, creed or colour is just a human being. Until they prove otherwise, let's not condemn.
Fabric jeans are made of, ruru
I think we all have those days, girlie :)
blue stuff, usually, ruru
girlie - Happens to us all. Don't worry about it.
that was one of the words that made me want to beat my head against the keyboaard, once I had it
tx had it but had it out of order on my page
too many de 4/5's
ROFL, ruru
entirely too many of them
speaking of de, i just changed my icon
de4/5s are not hard word.
I tend to agree with what you said, jac, and I am sure there are people, in say, Darfur, who are only alive because they turned away--but, how many heads can turn away before they all roll?
but no worse than the re or se
pam - I don't know.
i agree pam. i just returned from taking my father to his wwII ship reunion
hello babblers
last pr 5/14 and pr 7/32

Hi, hk
eo 5/10?
hey, HK
em's are driving me nuts
heya jell
hi helen
As for the not condemning, Pam... I wasn't referring to the Holocaust.
hi tyger
em are not.....
Yes, I'm wiped out! When my job was 5 minutes away I was able to stay up for the flip single nite. Now that I commute over an hour, I am NEVER up for that flip!
it's something that haunts me, jac. Niemoller said it so well... when they come for me, who will be there? I am not condemning, but wondering...
hiya TO!
the words are based on the preceding pr5/12, and are comparatives
fofl
Hope your dad enjoyed, luw!
eo clue anyone?
happy friday everyone!
I know, Jac, and neither am I--there have been many holocausts, though--Rwanda and Darfur two of the more recent...
hiya natl
Hello helenkeller! How are you? Welcome to the grid!

hi helen
Hello NatLT! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
the laast 3 words are when you do something wrong, according to a Holy Book, ruru
hello {{{{jacs}}} & {{{{pam}}}} - (involved in deep discussion)
pr + in my opinion
heya minver, luw
thank you for the clues and the chat. a storm is coming and i have to go. see you tomorrow
Hi, hk!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers!I'll see you tomorrow
Night, TO!
nite, Owl
I cannnot believe that people did nto know. I've talked to quite a few people who were children that we now know lived near to 'camps' at the time. They didn't know, for sure, just made friends with kids through the wi4/8. But their parents must've known; told them to stay away!
nite min
nite, Min
bye min
oh I hate the biblical clues
sorry. "All have ***ned & come short..."
what people do and do not know to stay alive is unfathomable, jac...
It's that or give you chemistry clues that I'd have to go to a dictionary for
pr + personal pronoun + withered
what do you prefer? :P
that was faster
Anyway, no point in going on about the past.
em7 and 8
Unles it makes sure it never hapens again in the future. But, knowing mankind's penchant for war.. no guarantees.
the second to last pr7?
or the 5's or 6's. they are driving me and my monkeys crazy
No, no guarantees... the wars and the genocides are ongoing...
if you've got em4/5 above them, Lu, drop the last letter, and substitute "*** can" for the 6, and a vowel for the 7
hopefully our children will be better
Fireworks
congrats, doxy!
yay doxie
pam - I guess nothing anyone says will stop that.
Congrats, doxy!!
"hope springs eternal," Lu
congrats, doxy
I know Jac, until we all say the same thing 8-) there is no way to peace, peace is the way...
ty tyger I finally saw it
Need some food and drink. See you all later!
that's a relief :)
bye jelly
next time maybe I'll open dictionary.com :)
I love this Ben Franklin quote: Never has there been a good war or a bad peace
later, Jellen
Later, jellen
Luw - if anything, my kids seem more 'warlike' than me and their Dad, and stepdad. We are getting mightly peed off with the present government in UK, even thinking of leaving for other shores due to all the 1984 stuff going on... but our kids seem to want to fight to preserve our country's nationality.
Pam, there's some truth to that, but not Chamberlain-style
Fireworks!
Jac, where would you go? Antipodes?
congrats, Merk
yes, not chamberlain style.....
thanks a bushel tiger
Fireworks!
you're welcome, Lu
yay for merk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 1984 stuff is pervasive. and the rationalizations and justifications reek
the pr7 that comes right before "not amateurs"? please?
I wasn't sure how good the clues were, but it was all I could come up with fast
Yger - New Zealand, I think, or France.
ty
See you tomorrow
My two kids do have uni studies of history and politics behind them.
next 2 last pr 7/32 plz
cameron that's the one I'm looking for too
it 7 /32?
look at our leaders!! when i was in DC with my father, i decided our leaders need to visit all the monuments and read what our forfathers wrote. they seem to have forgotten or don't care
Jane, yours isn't in the dictionary - last 4 letters are same as se4/4 following se 7/40
it7/32 is built on it4/5, Brit-style verb
ruru, in an audit all expenses have to be it*****
I am sorry, luw, but I am not sure our current so-called leader seems to have little ability to read and quote from his readings...
good one, Jane
thanks, still don't have that pr7 tho
that was the IT everyone was talking about last night...jeez I feel so dumb
LOL. When we first got together, me and my kids' Dad, that is... he was an HGV mechanics apprentice and I was a schoolgirl. (And published writer. LOL) We used to sit up late over a glass of wi4 at ti5 and discuss life and politics etc., sometimes with our babes in our arms. But, neither of us were very political animals, other than talking about it.
i'm still on the em's
Hmm... they absorbed and built on, I guess.
Jane, 3 syllables - snake letter, 2 vowels, and consonant
oops, forgot there's a vowel before the snake letter
i'm afraid your right pam
BTW, I wasn't a schoolgirl when we had the babes. I was 27 when 1st was born! Almot 30 when 2nd came along.
you're - i spelled it like our leader might have
but there are 5 words in a row, all based on the pr4/5
all about words, except for the first
when someone writes or talks on and on, sometimes we say they're ****ing on and on
especially when it's dull
am new - having trouble following referencing and can't work it out - would someone explain for example 'pr4/5' - thanks
word starts with pr, has four letters, and is worth 5 points
done with em's. whew!! Vthat took a lot of monkeying
congrats, Lu
the last wi6?
welcome, booted
me 6/21 clue?
Old bag here has whittered on for long enough now. No one listens or replies, bar one or two, unless she's giving clues.
Harp - wi = posted.

LOLOLOL--jac
Oh, that's a European cousin of the American buffalo

Think I might leave now. There seem to be lots of old bags in here... I'm 18, with a bullet!c LOL
LOL, jac. Have a good night!

Got my finger on the trigger, gonna pull it.

not that I'm the best at it, b7 any means [sigh]
in5?
I've got a post to writie tonight, and I think I need a nap first
ty helen---that's the biggest I' ve tackled.
Actually, it was quite funny earlier... daughter came downstairs after having had my BIG Collins dictionary perched on her leg as she read through her uni textbooks (1st year). She'd cut off her circulation with the heavy book and had got pins and needles in her leg by the time she'd come down, grabbed a snack and a drink and got to bottom of stairs ready to go up again. I rubbed the ailing leg but I still had to LOL at her dragging it up the 13 stairs behind her.
in5/10 means silly - "gone ** an instant" + vowel
dilly, good on you - it's a toughie, i'm getting stuck here with 86 to go still
thanks
oh, crud. I asterisked the wrong word - definitely time for me to go! :(
good night guys, maybe Jac will stick around to give clues?
Hey, tyger - we're all human.
all too! gone. seeyas tomorrow, I hope
We have lives, worries, kids, etc. Grid's fun though.
"you want to know something, spock? everybody's human."
"i find that remark... insulting."
hursh - LOL - Cn't tell you how many times I've told my son that.
LOLOL
well if he was spock, he'd find it insulting.
But he IS human. Only hows me that though, LOL.
and you'd be married to sarek.
hursh just helped me find the ne4/5 word - made me think of yesterdays firewords video - lol
:O
Oh, and his sister, if I'm not around.
The human condition is uncurable, Hursh unless the world blows up, or is blown up. Both of which are distinct possiblities.
Humans? Who'd have, eh? As Spock might say if his grammar failed him. We are so fey! Not logical!
Jac -- that just reminds me of the scene from Blake's 7 when they ask Orac to give the prognosis on a wounded member of the group and its response is "Terminal"
hi all
i need a new emoticon for dizziness
I guessincurable would have been the corect word, but you all know what I meant.
Hi, Wolfie.
And then goes on to explain that since all humans must eventually die, they are inherently afflicted with a terminal circumstance
please everyone stop blathering and just give clues
hey gw!
hiya tim
{{**Jac**}}
hey helen
give me clues! give me clues! give me clues !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what clues do you need monkey
Wolfie - same thing happens in G-Atlantis.
'Life forms terminated'.
i have barely started so i couldn't help much

That was SG-Atlantis.

Hell - shurrup! You sound like a troll.
I missed that episode, Jac
ty,ty,ty *hk takes bow & accepts her award graciously*
timhorton -- you clame to be bad at clues, but you have helped me out a time or two :-)
see how she tells me to 'shurrrup' but not the troll ;)
And, before nut comes back in here saying trolls are amusing and she wants to do an interview with one, let me just say that they are NOT amusing, should NOT bie given any attention whatsoever and it's time we had moderators on this site.
yikes -- did I just spell that!! I meant claim
:) glad to hear it grey wolf
*Drwas breath*

2nd me6/21 & 7/32 pair, pls?
see my clue at 10:31
I'll try my schholmarm, 'SHOVE OVER!' tone first. Hope I dn't have to resort to trying to sove him over to his own side with my bum - He's 6' 2", I'm just under 5' 2" and he's heavier than me. The manoeuvr I mentioned means I have to brace one handd on the bed base, one on the bedside unit bnd then shove with all my mgiht, which kinda wakes me up.
to be cruel is to be me 6/21 and then if you were to call someone this you would say the person was a me****. last two letters vowels. third letter vowel as well.

first three se are easy: to grow corn plant a se**. things arent always what they se**. a crook doesnt want to be se** if he is stealing something. all same first three letters and change last cons.
and take the last vowel out for the LO 5 after it
why I didn't try those I am not sure, thanks woulfie
and then se6/21 -- se4/5 + the first two letters of your name
3rd re6 is the past of that, 7 is the past partiple of the 2nd.
lo5 = lo + ***e and shine
