jilli, go to www.aol.com and try their free on-line games, i like a lot of the puzzle ones.
I didn't like the normal level-forever-on-your-own ones, but WoW/GW sound much more interesting... and ATITD is *completely* different, no fighting even
go jilli go!
woo, jili!
my brain feels like its about to pop
fran, I just don't have enough hours in the day to play any more games than this one!!!

this is driving me nuts
and hi Broll
herin, de6/24 is first on the list -- there's a de6/27 and 21 at the end
hi dee, erda, jell et al who just came on :)
hi all. Actually, have been lurking. And playing the game! Not fast enough to chat.
what gorgeous mrp said ;-)
dc, that is simply beautiful. Go see, guys, our dc is a poet.
THanks thats what i need
broll, to me the chat is more important than the game -- heresy?
hi all incoming babblers :)
Thank you Jill for putting me out of my missery
very nice dc - I did read it - I was put right there.
lovely dc!
nope, to each his own!
Like I said, I'm just too slow.
ty, all. Someday, i hope to see the part of the North American plains where the sunflowers grow wild.
Hi Sprite
*hugs Hugs*
dc, we lived in Kansas, the "sunflower state" for 3-1/2 years. I loved them!
I need help for my last one... it's an s6. I have se6 x 1, and st6 x 4
hi hug
Hi Dee
great to see how it came to be so essential, dc, from first draft to final result. You did so well with it.
thanks for you help
(I was at its birth, guys :) )
:"> FMitch gave some very useful feedback.
yes, I see... once more we can blame FMitch :D :D
why should anyone be surprised that a musician and language-lover and sensible (in the French sense) person like dc should also be a poet?
LOL, sprite :D
I was not, jilli, but I had not yet seen the results of it. I recognised the poetry in something he 'just' wrote in the chat.
i was descibing to Sprite a trip through a tiny bit of the plains in Western INdiana.
so did I, sprite
made me want to see the plains proper.
beautiful imagery, dc
and I said, dc, you are a poet. And he reread and said, yes, it has potential. :) I love the end result very much.
one can de se4 an incumbent, no?
will read it later dc, have to go, bbl, good luck all
ciao, MVA
bye mva!
Bye, MVA
I am reading the profile texts on the games... it is not more than I wanted to know, jilli, I never knew what duplicate bridge is and now that I know, I am baffled! You have to be real smart to pull that off. And great to see the other games too :)
*lays out cruellers and choc-iced cake donuts, and some cold ginger ales*
have a great day, MVA
al tiles occupied
morning all..
cruellers? Sounds cruel...
hi rolin!
Hi, rolin
Fireworks!
wtg Hugs!
yay hugs! good morning rolin!
Congrats, Hugs!!
Yah Hugs sorry if i missed anyone
Is there any CL words?
thanks everyone
yes there are
http://i.pbase.com/u25/dhnieman/large/ 40758249.FrenchCruellers.jpg
Fran, why is there no plural to the hawaiian duck... would that be a repetition of the singular maybe?
cl x 3
hey, sprite -- we don't always win at Dupliclate! It's a humbling game but we do try!
thanks
thanks sorry didnt see that head desk
yey..the hairy nose dolphin
oh my, they are cruel! To my waistline!
have no idea sprite, since plurals of japanese words work and they don't actually exist.
dc -- have you ever used tinyurl? sop useful especially here where there's so little room
where rolin?
but they taste good, and have a lovely light texture :)
jilli: I think even playing it takes smartness! Let alone winning.
goodnight everyone
I learned how to use that today
fran
yes, jilli, i will try to rememebr to do that going forward
night hugs!
top corner 'n'
no hairy nosed dolphin, rolin... I think you mean the hawaiian goose.
oh no..thats the goose..sorry
sleep well Hugs*
g'night, hugs!
no Celebes buffalo either
G'night, Hugs
Rolin you had me ferreting for my babblets list
yes sprite..snap.. hey..im an urbanite now... lol
hee hee rolin, just wanted to make sure i hadn't missed my favorite babblet!
about the japanese plural: I think those are words that are so incorporated into the english language that they are treated as native.
it is one of my favorites too, Fran!
japanese plural? huh?
My mum n dad rock. They gave me the oddest and the best present - a gift voucher and a can opener
dc is probalby fluent in Japanese
dc: some japanese words, that of course have no plural form, get pluralised in american use.
oh, of course! chinese ones, too.

yw rolin
That is true
head desk
I studied japanese for about 1,5 year. It was wonderful how much the language differs from the ones I knew, and even more wonderful that my knowledge of latin helped to graps the structure of the language... while it is not at all a latin language.
*grasp
how fascination, sprite
I cant even speak good english. Sprite how many languages do you know?
i've not studied japanese at all, only chinese and korean. I gather korean is gramitically similar to japanese, though.
fascinating even
not much, lady. Dutch of course, English is good, then a good bit of german and french and some japanese. All the rest is snips and snaps.
morning everyone :-)

We are celebrating All Hallows/Samhien, actually Beltane in this end of the world. Pardon my bad spelling
housework? Only if it does not interfere with my babbling!
what's housework marmar?
Heh. My life is housework, and it's all on hold. My life is on hold!
Good philosophy Sprite.
Me too Sam...my poor husband......

Regarding Halloween, it's funny here, over the last 10 years here in Germany, it has gone crazy. And it's a shame really as they have beautiful fall holidays and traditions here already. Like St. Martins festival.

Katie how did dress shopping go?
chihuahua is a breed of dog, a desert, a state of mexico, and a city in that state. Is it a game, too?

d'oh
must have been after I was gone, short babble yesterday. I am so sorry to hear that :(
perhaps mildly, but didn't see that anyone was killed; lots of property damage though... to houses and to businesses; was a category 3, so some businesses are totally gone
And our lovely Jades parents lost their house in the fires in Cali
5 dead dc... you may be correct
considering the weather, not bad, though unfortunate, what with all the destruction.
and 5, though relatively low, is still 5 too many
brb I need some breakfast
bfn Ata
so true .. tonight on the news the police chief of nappannee announced that they had to turn away 2500 volunteers; they had so many
bye Atal
that was truly amazing

I feel so sorry for those that have lost everything.

Opps Yah Meliae i had to stretch
I think the town's population is only 6,000
BF just called and he lives in solano beach cali and he was on his way to work, said he got like ashes in eyes and was hard to breathe outside from all the smokw
i think people have been a bit more civic-minded since 9/11
oh, my, mel. he's okay, though, i gather?
I feel for Jade as my parents nearly lost everything in big fires in the late 70s early 80s but a change of wind saved the house
let's hope th4 is true, dc, then at le5 SOME good came from it.
I have a dozen errands to run so I'm off. Bye everyone, have a great day today! (and then there's that housework...)

I think todays dumb word of the day award will go to the HA 6/21 I spent a long time trying to find that one
my friends on the west coast fear hurricanes. i, OTOH, fear their earthquakes and fire season.
the first one that is
What you done herein?
could I have a clue for it please meliae, i'm stuck on it right now!!
I live in oregon the only real thing to fear here is the rain, lol
hmm. maybe I'm not having breakfast. We have 4 types of cereal. Husband likes all 4. I like one of them. So which one has he finished???
I would fear them all, dc. We have nothing worse here than floods, I think.
hurried, katie for the ha8, similar to ch9
Right Imust go and get these kids sorted so we can head to the vet - pup needs a tooth pulled.
lolllllll Ata! Argh!
Never google map your old bush home it will make you sad

TY Mel
thanks mel! forgot th** one
a friend from MIchigan asked me once what a hurricane was like when one was forecast here. I stopped. And said you know a blizzard? Like that, but water. The thought terrified him.
thank you mel
horizontal water, right dc? It would terrify me!
it's not always horizontal, sometimes it's diagonal. :)
I lived on the coast of oregon for a while winds up to 100 mph were common in the winter, and we never really thought much of them, just batten down the hatches make sure you have candles and ride it out, people are amazed that I just laugh about it all
i just saw how much development has happened around my old home shouldnt have done it
up to down, down to up or both?
I keep wanting leech to be a word.
change the spelling Din
going to get ready for work, see you all later :-)
change a vowel Dindrane
he's since had the joy (ironic) of living in New Orleans when Katrina hit. Happily, he evacuated to Houston, then Guelph.
I think it is, Dindrane, just not in the grid. But there is a similar one.

bye katie!
thanks tho!
Bye Katie

i can see, th4 mel, esp since i'm sure you build for it there.
bye, katie
bye Katie

I kept trying to make words that ended in tly and of course those letters are backwards lol
The bush that i grew up in is all gone
and going to the beach after those huge storms you would find such wonderful treasures
i can relate, lady, the woods i grew up in are now shopping malls and 8-lane roads.
oh, like what, mel?

I always get flotsam and jetsam meanings mixed up
too bad you won't find glass floats anymore
In fact at least a road and scads of houses are now there. I was only 5 when i left but i still remember it. Eww Dc
perhaps like the movie, hope floats
I love finding floats. even its a rare event now
you can still find them Fran
infernal said a word!
Ata how much does dog find?
can i have some clues please 4 any 7 and above
yes, very rare though mel
sorry, lady, it's true, though it's not as common as it used to be.
they still use them in poorer places for floats on their fishing nets, they are just not as common
dog tends to find all the icky things. dead fish. food.
and to roll in it?
I like the sounds of glass floats. Thats sounds dog like does dog roll in icky things
7-up and Canada Dry are in the same bottles nowadays. I guess th4's not surprising.
or dead seagulls is what my dog liked to find, lol
cool, am7 international
and/or eat it, sprite.
preferably roll then eat, for the best of both worlds
ooh, thanks, Fran; I needed that one, too.
then, there is a ch6/8/7/9 combo of words, starting with "pure"
argghhh! *debates whether having a dog is worth cleaning it after th4*
I think my best treasure I found was a huge abalone shell I found it like 20 years ago and I keep it in my bathroom to hold facecloths
yw dindrane
I ahve 10 more s words they are not in there

cl 7 -- baseball and golf shoes are this

Ilike that clue, BabbleRabble :) Had the word already, but it is a smart clue.
not tired, Ata. Hungry!
nah you are not stupid it took me a bit to find it as well, in fact I think fran helped me when she told someone else it was an adverb
but that's what he wrote ata. :-)
LOL Ata
maybe both, sprite :)
Fran, I missed your clue! Thanks :)
no worries sprite, it's the hazard of fast cluing when the ch** is moving so fast

oh, I wanna brag about my kids! We started reading an english book, with me translating. When that went well, I let them translate and helped them with it. Now we got to the point where I read, and they give a sign when they don't get it!
does that usage make am7 int'l make more sense?
bye FMitch *hug*
that's great sprite!
oh, Sprite, how wonderful!
take out gets my vote, lady
am 7: noun: the formal act of liberating someone noun: a period during which offenders are exempt from punishment noun: a warrant granting release from punishment for an offense verb: grant a pardon to (a group of people)

I am so freakin' proud of them :D
So does eating for the week

Caya? That sounds nice, I never heard it before

Bye Fran
i'll see you all later!
well done Fran! Hurry back ;)
thanks Liz :)
aloha, fran
later Fran.
kids went camping with their dad last weekend. Some other kid had made paths in the reed there and they explored ea4 and every one of them :)
Sprite did you hose them off before coming into the house?
no, but they went straight to the shower :)
OH that would have been a mess to clean up
Sounds like they had a wonderful weekend
it still is... clothes are in the bathroom, lol. But I don't mind, kids will be kids and they had a marvelous time.
Dirt comes off(most of the time)
they made campfires, so every piece of clothing not muddy was smelling strongly of smoke... simply will wash it all and all will be well.
what fun, i explored in reeds for the first time when i lived in Boston, we don't have that many of them around here.
Fran the list is up too
gotta go now BBL Have fun all
it is very high reed here, so they had a true adventure with it!
bye Liz, have a good day!
hasta, Liz!
hobbit loves exploring in reed beds too ;)
sprite, do you live in an area below sea level and, if so, how much does the possibility of a rupture play on your mind?
You ask me to go camping these days and i shudder
almost all of The Netherlands is below sea level, BabbleRabble. Our dikes keep us dry... and if it floods, we all worry. If sealevel will keep rising when the Poles melt, Holland will disappear.
11 left and im stuck
Can i have help with the E under the C please the one that next to the 0 C please

sprite - it was the triumph of hope over experience.
ah, that is true, Haz :)
hast
good clue, Fran, I was still thinking how to clue th4!
i kept wanting to use a brand of bar soap we have here, same as citrus skin
i found th4 CE because it's the same as Spanish word for wastebasket.
cast
looks like a good clue, Fran, but my brain can only think "hurry" away? which of course is wrong... gah.
stop doing that please, #?!?!?!, you are spoiling the fun for others.
lovely dc, that will probably help me remember it better. :-)
din, imagine shouting th4 at a smal child
dindrane, first 4 letters rhyme with the rind of a citrus fruit
Dindrane, think a command you would give a dog to not leave its place
then add a vowel on the end

hi Ishult
hello, Ishult
The words all few at me at first, now with 58 to go they seem to have dried up!!!
so... total ignore then?
math
only way to go, sprite
Time to ignore completely, hide the chat log and retire to the pro-Lickety chat where the questionable one can't follow.
thanks dc :)

I am partial to incorrigible miscreant
too bad you guys do not use the expert, or at le5 have it available to use if you want to
lol BabbleRabble, why would that be?
yes, as i said, i'll email him later for the option.
yes, it doesn't work on Macs. :-)
oh, then won't work on new system i'll be getting in near future.
less i want to code it, which is unlikely.
true, Fran :(
ooh, what are you getting dc?
macbookpro 17, early next year, birthday treat for myself
hi everyone, i know i annoyed a few last time i said i think chat should only be available to pros, but must say it again
firewords!
actually, if i upgrade to Apple's new Leopard, it has the built in ability to run XP or Vista...hmm, that might work
yay dc!!
hi, andree.
wtg dc!
Hurray, DC!
yes, it would be a solution.
hi andree!
vista bites, stick w/XP Pro, fran.
there could be another solution though, Andree. DrG could make the chat available against paying 0,01 dollar.
that sounds great dc...the macbook pro, it will come with Leopard i believe.
yes, i think so.
well, if i upgrade i would have to get a copy of XP to install, probably not worth all the trouble.
i don't understand, sprite, you mean per sign-in?
no dc, a one-time fee
sprite, despite what a few have said its about $15 us for life, not a huge amount
would need to be rather more than that to be deterrent, no?
kids cannot pay through internet, usually, and they would not make several accounts, so banning would be very effective even if they did pay once.
i agree andree, and i'd be willing to sponsor a few people
i remember when that was a lot for me.
Andree, I know, but for those that really do not have it, a fee of a few cents would be affordable.
me too dc, this is ridiculous
exactly, dc, I have had periods in my life that it would have been too much.
fran, what's the bird, do you know? http://ftemery.livejournal.com/4 15763.html
sprite, to have a current internet account costs more per month, i sound a bit cynical i know, but enough already
sigh, i forgot that place i type not as wide as actual chat post.
Andree, I hear you, but still, one cannot look into another's finances. So that is why I would propose 3 kinds of account: Free, Free with paid chat (a few cents) and Pro
i don't know dc, sorry!
i think the university of hawaii has a site with local birds
all good, was worth asking, bird diversity there is amazing. oh, that would make sense, i'll check there when i get home later.
http://www.hear.org/starr/hibirds/imag es/index.html
try that site
the goose is about half way down the page
oh, neat, fran, ty!
i just saw it :)
finally found yhe ch9 (had the ch7 for a long time), but the 8's are still a mystery????
adverb for the ch, related, Ishult
adverb of the 5, ishult
the gray-backed stern?
they lived ch8
and ha8
not the same angle of the shot, but looks right
is flummery the same as blancmange?
Nothing is the same as blancmange.
LOLLLLL Haz
brb, gonna grab breakfast
i mean gray-backed tern of course
later spritey!
not really dc, flummery is whipped and set and blamange is just set
I think flummery is a softer texture, blancmange more 'defined'.
got the ch8 finally!!! ty. Now to look for the h8???
yes, fran, that looks right.
lshult, drop the C. :-)
ah, ty, Haz and andree, i've never actually encountered either.
its the whipping makes it lighter
from the ch9
"same" as the ch9, ishult
Ishult - ch8, they ha8 to pay their fine.
got it, ty
oh, clever, haz!
ch9 that should be, for those who have learnt their lesson.
good one haz!
very old fashioned dc, i used to use some receipes of my mother in law havent made either for years
blancmange: noun: sweet almond-flavored milk pudding thickened with gelatin or cornstarch; usually molded flummery: noun: a bland custard or pudding especially of oatmeal
What a great language English is.
now I could use some help with the d's & v's (only got va4/8 so far)?????
always love your clues, Haz
thnx BabbleRabble
That's good sprite.
for the Vs, think make or made empty, left, Ishult
the other 3 VAs have to do with leaving a place with all your stuff lshult (va6) then build on it
they va8 the premises rapidly
va7, i can count, really!
4 da; 13 de
got the v's ty
we know you can, dc, and we count on you ;)
da 5 -- add, what we put do in this box: ***tter; pl
I bet the da's are the problem, lol. They made me search for a long time.
it's the d's bottom right that I'm stuck on???
Think prehistoric and Russian villas for those d words.
see? ;)
da6/30 and plural, poetic foot, sounds like end of flying dinosaur
haz, the only flummery i have ever made was passionfruit and orange juice and gave a sweet tart taste, not at all bland
d + pain, change last vowel, + plural
russian country house(s), ishult
da 6 -- add a feline, *a* and a material, vin**; pl
and BabbleRabble had a great clue for the other combo
ah, there it is already :D
I have some recipes for flummery, not made it though. I think it's for peach although I suppose once you have the base, pretty much anything can be used.
Right, time I was off to do some housework. I'll be back later. Bye for now!
that one is the best picture of spangle yet, Haz
ciao, haz!
bye haz
bye haz!
I think so - she looks happy! Bye!
bye Haz! *hug*
ha6/21: misspelt kid of Haz :)
hm. yall make flummery sound rather like ambrosia.
6 left!
fighting the urge to look at list
go Fran!
you can do it, fran
we can help before the list :)
Come on Fran - Im off to peek at list
what letters have you left, fran?
ooh 5 left! all Ss, my last T was one i thought i put in already! *bonk*
SA x 3, any more?
do you have the yewish cold soup, Fran? Sc5?
hot, humid air, st5 was my last S.
What do you call that great feeling of satisfaction you get when you finish your geometry?
i want to try that soup.
The aftermath.
don't have the soup, how many points?
LOL BabbleRabble :)
good one babrab!
sc5/20 Fran
aftermath is what i had to pick up after geometry. hated that course, grokked it not. Stats was fun, though.
*apologises for overthinking the joke*
got it! thanks sprite
with my "jokes" over-thinking is quite the norm
wtg Fran!
4 left, 2 4s, 1 5 and 1 6
you have st5 dan?
st6 dan.
do you have the st6 that ends in another word for to rent?
i do now sprite and dc, thanks!
you've entertained me every time, babrab, so please to keep them coming. :)
3!
going strong, Fran!
I like your jokes, actually, BabbleRabble
i like your jokes babrab, because they're rated G. :-)
st4, alt of st4 away?
yep, got that dc
oops, got th**
st 5 -- add before high school, ***ementary school?
time to do a 2nd letter count then, Fran... or monkey away ;)
i have that one babrab
st -- horse
se4, alt of se4s that swim in the sea?
SA x 3, SC x 4, SE x 10, SL x 1, ST x 14
se x 12
SL 2 x
sl -- frozen rain
se4, like last letter of Spanish alphabet?
se 12
mixed up sitting place maybe?
thanks, i'll get monkeys working!
lol dc, great minds...
se5, add vowel to se4 a letter yesterday.
i have those...it's going to be the most normal words, i always get the weird ones first. :-)
missing an sc (got sc4/5 & sc4/6x2)??
sc5, a soup of the ashkenazim.
SLs go 4/5 and 5/10, not related, Fran
se 4.5;4.4;6.21;4.5;4,4;5.14;4,4;4,5;4,4; 4,4;5.10;4,4
see! i was missing sl4/5! thanks sprite
yw Fran :)
i clued it
thanks babrab, needed the se5/14
how many words today?
200, fordy
sc5/20???
i must say i am so glad i finally jumped into the chat here. yall are the best!
thank you. i have 50 so far :)
I am glad you did too, dc! It is great to have you with us, you're an addition to the chat
sc + i ***e a splinter in my finger.
wtg Fordy!
what are the total points?
it is a jewish soup, Ishult.
2402 pts.
thanks dc, still need 28 words, but need to go and do some work first.
yes, ishult, sc5/20.
done!!
WOO FRAN!
The monkeys thank ou - it would have taken them weeks to noogle that one!
until later, then, ishult.
I'll be dropping in and out for a while now, later all
congrats, Fran cya Ishult
thanks for the help everyone!
bye lshult!
wgt Fran!!!!!!
bye ishult
WTG even, Fran!
am down to 17 and struggling, but will get there.
my last one was se4/4, anagram of "spotted"
yay fran
and i didn't have the kid's winter toy either!
thanks Fran :) 16
i remember we we had winters here.
I always thought that was spelled with -ge at the end... the winter toy
i'm working tomorrow day, so i won't be online until Wednesday night, probably.
sleigh
sleigh and sl4 are different things, sprite
and then what is a sl4ge?
also sledge
sleigh usually pulled by a horse. sl4 usually manual.
what's a sl4ge then?
penalty box, Andree!
oh, right, andree, i've net seen that word in...decades i think.
oops
noun: a vehicle mounted on runners and pulled by horses or dogs; for transportation over snow
ah, my spelling is correct as well!
same as sleigh then i guess
it's always got a -ge on the end over here (in britain)
see, that is it, thanks Fordy.
in my brain sl4 and sl4ge much smaller than sleigh.
ah, okay, ty fordy.
that's funny, dictionary.com says sleigh is british form. :-)
from a friend's juornal today: "Learned: That sometimes questions seem to close things."
she also said: "Learned: driving in a very tightened bodice can really hurt your ribs."
Yep but sleih are mahoosive and a sledge is a weeny thin for kiddies or dogs
like: "Have you finally stopped beating up your wife?" ?
lol dc
add to that do NOT lean forward over jumps when riding side saddle, you tend to break ribs as i found out
ouch gran!
second ouch
oh my! i can imagine, grana. everyone i know rides English rather than side or western.
own stupid fault
i would go futher: don't ride side saddle, ever :P
sprite, are you a police interrogator in your spare time?
LOL
though i learned that mounting too far forward in an English saddle can be unpleasant if you are male.
Ill bet!
lol Fran, no, just an insider on questions that close things ;)
dc, that deserves a big OUCH!
even desirable to avoid if you want to stay male :)
unless you want to sing soprano
I would remind sprite that conclusions based a facts not in evidence are inadmissible
withdrawn, your honor
did th4 once riding w/a female friend, she asked if i were ready to go, and i grunted a no, she asked why, i explained, and she replied that apparently a man can know what it's like to have a period.
LOL dc!
grana, in my case it *might* get me to a tenor.
dc, i know you play instruments, but do you sing too?
good morning all, am going to just dive into grid, don't know how much time I'll have today
hi flosey!
enjoy, flosey
yes, fran, i'm a bass/bari
hi, flosey
i played violin in a play last year, and sang in one this year.
cool
hi flosey
thanks, perhaps catch you later - brother is being moved from hospital to nursing care home - may take a long time to get there by bus
*hugs flosey*
best wishes flosey!

babrab, just read the verse in your profile...love it!
ciao, babrab, be well
you too, BabbleRabble, wind beneath thy wings
see you later babrab!
Fran I LOVE the vid!
which one sprite?
it is the tall man one
the wind?
yes
simply brilliant!
but did not want to say that word, because it might spoil it for others
that was a good one, i saw an american ad using a similar concept recently, i knew right away they had seen this one.
oh yeah...oops!
i should visit the video archive soon
maybe contribute a few more
please do, dc, lickety would love to get more input :)
i could email you the list dc, i sent it to jilli yesterday
i forgot you don't use expert dc
ty, fran, my handle here at gmail dot com
my kids will be home soon for lunch, I have to go
see you later sprite!
have a great day or night or whatever, all of you, and thanks for the wonderful company
fran could you email it to me too, i still use the old way and don't get new videos
BYE PRITE
bye sprite, keep well
same to you sprite! ((hugs))
ciao, sprite, see you Wednesday night/Thursday AM.
okay andree, what's you email address?
andree@bigair.com.au
thank you fran
okay, sent!
the one today that sprite and I were talking about is called German Commercial on the list. It's probably the best of the lot.
got it, thx, i'll start viewing later.
fran, what time is it there, 10 or 11 pm?
it's 12:11 am on Monday
6 hours behind here then, i couldn't recall, thx.
yes, last summer i was playing scrabble with two babblers from the ea** coast states and we'd play until i had to make dinner and they had to get to sleep!
i came across an interesting new site the other day... www.bookswim.com
so, 6hrs you to me, 6 hours me to sprite, 6 hours sprite to china, 6 hours china to you. :)
it's like netflix for books...you pay a monthly fee and then they send you books to read...when you finish you send them back, they send you new ones.
yep, isn't that cool dc? and we can hang out here all together. :-)
neat. i go to BookThing in Baltimore sometimes, leave books you don't want, take ones you do, all free.
have the email fran, just watched the wind, excellent
yes it is. people ask what i do at work and i tell them i chat with my friends in europe, australia, hawaii, nz, and the bahamas. :)
cool andree!
we do that at our golf club, so always have something to read and others to pass books onto
we have a used book store here, but i'm not finding books that i want there.
and they don't have a very large selection.
the College Perk in College Park, Maryland serves a similar function.
its such a waste buying a book and only i person reading it, i pass anything good around the whole family etc before the golf club, get my ,moneys worth
netflix for books better deal than library for many people.
i just need to convince my husband that spending $20 a month on this service will be worth it!
i just can't stomach spending $9.99 on a paperback!
i collect hardbound 1st editions, so i buy a fair number of books.
see, that's different, hardbound, quality books is a far cry from a pulp paperback
fran, i think it'd be well worth it.
in aus$ we can't buy a paperback under $20, so we share a lot, i only have to buy about 6 books a year to have a constant supply
that's crazy andree, it's a good thing you can swap
good day all
wow. i pay US$20-50 for my hardbounds, often even when out of print.
morning, carlee! :)
good dc, i'm going to start my campaign tomorrow
sometimes on special the hardbacks are the same price as paperbacks
hi carlee!
how u doin' dc?
pretty well, you?
A very good morning to everyone :)
the stronger our $ gets the more expensive the books
tired....but ok...
http://tinyurl.com/2elfaj is a poem i recently wrote, which began here in the log.
hi carlee and mom
hi mom!
Hello Andree :)
glad ho hear, carlee. kids doing ok, too?
Good morning Fran :)
hi, mom
Good morning Dcseain
that's weird andree.... our papbacks all have US $ and Cnd$... I refuse to buy any books until the 4.50 price hike from when canada's dollar was worth $.63 american comes a bit more close to the reality of par
almost time for shift turnover.
{{hugs}} Carlee
kids are... well the 15 year old boy is having a few issues
{{{mom}}}} how r u?
pretty good. Glad you are okay but sorry about your son.
yeah, so did i at that age - my father died when i was 15, after 3 years of illness. Best with it, and feel free to email if you want to vent.
ha ha , might see a $4.50 price tag in a second hand bookshop
oh Dc, I am sorry
he'll be ok...I have a couple neighbourhood "dads" that are stepping into the role and kickin' some butt...he thinks this whole thing sucks...but he forgetting it sucks for everyone involved... and we ALL have to pull our own weight
ty, mom that was 21 years ago.
very true, carlee. glad you have support. :)
thanks :) the words of reinforcement here help too
its hard carlee at 15 to think of other people
mom, love your profile pix!
Thank you :)
yeap...which is the only reason I didn't tie him up by the thumbs and flog him for a few hours... with wet towels
that's a funny pic mom. :-)
thank you Fran
Shorty and I were talking yesterday that we need to have a Barbie and Ken (aka Babblers) standing were the trolls are and have a troll over the fire.
oh, wet towels are a great tool for that, carlee, what restraint!
yes, apropos, mom
G'd morning Babblers!
okay, i'm officially up too late...again.
:)
lol Fran
time gets away from you, doesn't it?
i must go to do shift turnover stuff, as we have some issues today. Peace to you all! And Fran, you should think about bed.
***Hands Fran a coffee***
i'll see you all later! have a good day or night whichever works for you.
bye!
bye dc
Have a good one dc
hi and bye lori! :-)
{{Hugs}} Bye Dcseain, enjoy your time off
*grabs the coffee anyway*
Good morning Lori:)

Wicked good carlee. You too I hope, all things being equal.
umm..i'll settle for a return to "normal" life...
well, the newspaper should be here by now. See everyone later this morning {{Hugs to all}}
I bet you would carlee. So, for now, welcome to the un-normal world! :-)
Catch ya' in a bit mom! :-)
you bet Lori, bye bye
so..share the wicked good around the room lori... what's up?
Oh, okay so it's not THAT good! LOL Just that nothing much has gone wrong lately carlee, so I'm good with that! :-)
ok..thats cool....
LOL I cleaned the kitchen yesterday, fridge stove pulled out, the whole deal. i was quite proud of myself. good for another 5 years.....
i would love TIME to clean like that...we have the OT visit in 2 weeks to determine WHAT has to be done to allow hubby back home.... and I have NO idea when I willhave itme to clean up and clean out
Why bother? Reno will likely be rquired, so tame 2 messes with 1 stone. :)
they HAVE to be able to get in to measure
Details, details.... :-)
I'm sure the OT's have seen it all. They're simply there to point out things one ordinarily wouldn't think of. the smaller details
hello everyone :)) just back from dinner and putting kids to bed... is this one reasonable?
yea..well..they haven't seen MINE... .and its a whole... arrogance thing on my part..i KNOW that..but still...
so far so good mr pres....its the first one in a LONG time for me the simplest words are popping out...
Don't seek out stress carlee, you already have enough. Let it go...... :)
G'd morning mrP. Reasonable? Grid? Oh yah, I'm s'posed to be looking for words....
yes lori... i'll try..but...
Come to the dark side carlee.
its still dark out..no option here....for another hour
I can give you lots of pointers on how not to houseclean. If you need some tips, just let me know....
step one... make another pot of coffee..and sit down to www.playbabble.com
See? You're catching on already. :-)
uh huh... am a closet housecleaning procrastinator
Let out your inner procrastinator.
hello all.
( no can do right now..I have WAY too much on my plate....an object in motion remains in motion..an object at rest remains at rest )
G'd morning bf

At least you're aware, and taking the steps you can carlee, that's the important thing.
true Carlee they are much better then
i was much happier in my own world with my own score
think it was late in game before they broke it open tho
If I type denim in there one more time......
it was 3 - 2 in the 7th when i drifted off

hi Une!
got them all, now, carlee, thank you. (I usually don't use the list, so don't know what I'm missing!)
hi nanette.
Boggle drives me nuts. *sigh*
why, lori?
Why so?
hi babblers everywhere ! - just starting this grid...
Nothing like keeping us in suspenders.
I'm held back by my typing, and spelling..... :-)
G'd morning montreal
hi montréal
morning Montreal
Ah well, babble is much more forgiving.
boggle would be better if it had different values assigned to the letters, like babble.
yea...when u make a typo ..enable usually accepts it as a word anyway
have you tried the updated version? it is slightly more forgiving.
and I like its dictionary better
Good morning!
Good morning Merk.
good morning Merk
g'morning Merk
I am here only briefly again, uploading the beta version while I travel with my husband. Can anyone please give me clues for the two 8 words, wherever they are before I leave in case I get stuck en route? Thanks
ha8 - made rapid progress
ch8 - in an innocent and demure manner
yea! Got the 9 all on my own!!
haz you are soooooo quick
just started to type in one of them and you had them both
I should play boggle, shouldn't I?
(and their root words rhyme and one is a subset of the other root word)
tx hax, great clues
68 left, bbl

later peri
Where is the 9, does it build on either of those?
See you peri - and you're welcome, Merk.

ty Haz
You're welcome.
Haz! I think you have been avoiding me since your antics with Ata and sprite the other day *wags finger in general direction of N.Ireland* ..... and hello all.
hi FM
Hello FMitch - no! As if I would avoid you!
Haha, FMitch. Hello everyone.
Hello montreal
It was a busy day yesterday (people for lunch) and the grid was hardly worth calling a grid!
Hello Scrabbler.
scrabbler... how are you... and if you don't mind.. I have a tech question for u
good morning scrabbler
Go ahead, Carlee.
yes it was teeny tiny. Hi Scrabbler and carlee
mrsa is running rampent in the hospital..what do i NEED to know... other then..wash..wash..wash..wash..wash...e tc...
hi fm...
So it's not just British hospitals, then.
hi Scrabbler
( no..its world wide and its in schools here in NA too )
I was just about to type the same thing Haz, my step dad has it
MRSA is rampant in the community as well. We have been seeing MRSA skin infections in kids for about 3 yrs. Yes, good handwashing, and make sure that no one touches your husband without washing their hands and their equipment.
ok....and I know one man in his room has an actually sore...
Or ask people to wear gloves before they touch your husband. May I ask, how is your husband's progress?
It seems an awful shame, doesn't it? Hospitals just seem to be breeding grounds for all sorts.
what is MRSA?
we have Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) in some Québec hospitals - i think it's related to SARM, your MRSA...
The worst place to be when you are sick is a hospital, sorry to say.
Methicillin Resistant Staphloccus Aureus. ( I think)
You go in to get well and come out with somethings you hadn't bargained for.
stupid is still not responding..but "i'm with stupid" is co-operating adn wiggling toes... he's able to walk with walker around PT room ( toes zip tied up so he doesn't trip over stupid...) and is able to stand on own at the bars
back!
( yeap..thats right haz)
nm, I googled it
Hello Atalante - got your cereal?
husband said something amusing the other day - "has your friend gone for her MRSA scan?" (he *meant* MRI obviously!)
Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcal Aureus---there are some strains resistant to most all antibiotics, but we have at least 3 antibiotics that work on our local strains
YES! and I'm eating a big bowl of it while drying out from dog walk
Hi Ata
That's good, cereal is good any time of the day, I reckon.
My chance to be smug. It's dry here.
and here too *grin*
clue for the final st 4,6 please ... do the 5 and 6 build off it?
pigs live in them
its dry here *now* LOL
Sorry cant help merk, haven't started the grid today.
Well, they live in things without the final vowel, the st4 is an infection of the hair follicle in the eye.
by the way, the cereal that caused so much consternation is Jordan's coconut and raisin oat muesli. Its *gorgeous*
Smug, smug, smug. What chance do I have?
It sounds gooooood.
ty, got those
says to no-one in particular, I'm going to be doing some baking this week.
*and* I went into our local Oxfam bookshop in Canterbury and they've had 3 Ist edition Christopher Tolkien books there for ages for £50 each. Too expensive. I've just eyed them. Then today I see they've reduced them to £30 each! Still expensive, but I could sell them immediately on ebay for £70 +. They came home with meeee :)
What are you going to bake, FM?
Yummy--please send some goodies across the pond to me, please.
what are we bakin gfm?
banana bread? *grin*
Woweeee, Ata!!
So, will they stay at home with you, Atalante or will you be heartless and sell them to someone who may not love them.....
With all of the pumpkins out for Halloween, I am looking forward to pumpkin pie!!
lol Ata Umm something along the lines of ginger/oaty biscuits/cookies to start with.
Will you set a test to see if they are worthy book recipients?
I was JUST thinking the same thing scrabs....
they''ll stay with me and I'll sell the modern versions I've already got :)
That's okay, then. But you'll be so smug about them, I can just tell.
I bet you keep them Ata, I just bet!
Can you name drop with books?
'I was just reading my first edition Tolkien there'
I am SO smug about them! I really am! I'm sitting here with a big grin on my face!
oh yes, you can namedrop madly among other Tolkien fans. everyone wants the beautiful old editions rather than the nasty paperback modern ones!
I would think you can Haz. As with most htings there is bound to be a level of elitism.
Will there be a Mr Potato Head version?
ok...well..I am off to shower... and start the drudgery of yet MORE paperwork...
cu all tomorrow
You like paperwork, don't you carlee? I can tell.
Have a good day!
bye carlee

Hi, ursh.
Gee, I left this desk half an hour ago when ursh arrived. Nothing has happened since then!!! What's up?
Sheesh Inge you're late again, we have been sitting here quietly wating for you :)
Bet you forgot the donuts?
*lurking*
well, what's on the agenda for today?
You didn't bring the agenda either? I don't know *grin*
donuts all gone on Friday morning at the DSO coffee concert. We shall all die of sugar overdose
Gee whiz Inge all you had to do for half an hour was bring donuts and an agenda - but no ......
FIREWORKS!:-)
Well, I packed our daughter
s halloween package, so now I have to go to UPS
bravo Jacula
lol Hi ursh, waves flag and goes Yay for SA* gulp* congrats Jacs
Are you allowed to UPS kids in The States?
I heard yesterday from the Donald that 59% of the American couples have divorced. That's the topic for the day
nice job jac
Thanks.
Good to know I'm a 31 percenter.
lol fmitch you are killing me ( :
OK FMitch, the computer ran away with my message
Did you all see the hilarious cat video Une posted the url for earlier?
41%ter???
OK quick straw pole then ... hands up eveyone here who has been divorced? Great isn't it Jacs. Hi gramma :))
http://tinyurl.com/2xf3uv
Okay, so I'm not good at percentages. I am good at marriage. 23 years on 10/5.
Keep in mind that statistically speaking, Donald's own record is enough to offset 5 or 6 couples who remain happily married.
My hand's up, FMitch.
not me, waited til mid 30's to get hitched, he's stuck with me whether he likes it or not.
Thanks JAc I was just thinking that a show of hands might not actually be sucha viable medium. Me too.
I am with you Judi, 45 yrs here
divorced twice here
so what is the secret to long marriage inge and judi? my mom says seperate rooms. 63 years her and pop lasted
FM - I'm assuming you meant the cat video's great, not divorce?
I take it we are not talking about Ronal McDonald then?
Huh. The Donald certainly isn't one to talk marriage statistics. He and his ex's have skewed the averages.
lol judi
Cat vid great, my divorce great in hindsight.
Secret? There's a secret to marriage? Personally, I recommend you have a lot of money, common sense, mutual respect, kindness and a sense of humor (not necessarily in that order).
FM - agreed. Horrible at the time, though.
the answer is flexibility, not competitiveness
A lot of money isn't apparently doing anything for Mr Trump's marriages.
Ah that Donald, hello Vi.
Money's no secret, but it sure does help having it rather than not having it. Not that I would know.
Donald le Toupee
I must get back to my greenhouse and continue shooing the spiders out. Happy Babbling/ch**ting.
Hi Ata and Bye Jacula
bye jac, enjoy green thumbing
Jacula, how big is your greenhouse? Are you growing anything special? Ours is mostly orchids and bromeliads
I believe that we have to respect one another's individuality to be a successful couple as well. He needs his outlets and so do I.
He grows them, I water and weed them
And, if things don't work out, there's always the option of slipping him a cup of deadly nightshade tea.
good one judi.
lol well if there is no meeting and no donuts *stares at inge* I have no excuse not to work ... *sigh*
ha, ha
how about some peanut butter cups?
Oh I know! mug of tea, pootles off towards the kitchen.
help with the da 6/30 please
Inge, Oh, I envy you your greenhouse. I love orchids, but mine don't do too well in the house and in Kansas they cannot be outside. Also have b&g macaw and other mutual interests. Email me sometime.
And while she pootles off, I pootle in with a cup of coffee...
Hi, Haz.
Clue for the first de/24 please
da 6 is usually preceded by terra , a dinosaur creature.
ty Inge!
Hello all - back to get my last words.
da + cons + first three letters of pain kiler ***enol
wouldnt it usually be preceded by "ptera"? ;)
Who knows? It would usually be preceded by a screaming human.
"ptero" ;)
probably, but he got it
hah! good one haz!
rofl, Haz
Thank you, thank you.
Though Atalante is probably going to point out that they lived in different habitats or something.
Briefly, until all the dinos ate the humans.
where do you go for the other d's in the corner?
well ... the genus _Homo_ wasn't around when the pteros were ... but that's only a small quibble
Still, it made for a nice image, didn't it?
definitely!
ergo, the prefix is not homo but ptero
*shouts from the kitchen ... Ata is splitting hairs*!!!
Go to Russia, rururocks and find a type of house.
some of those things had 6m wingspans
yeah, whats a few million years here or there!
Cro-magnons, Neanderthals, Australowhoojawhatsits... all knuckle-draggers.

Sorry, inge will think it's pick on inge day. SORRY!

Sounds kind of like an afternoon nap in mexico, Mary.
ty Judi

St Haz is clothed in sackcloth and ashes.
but looking so fetching none the less
St Haz shouldn't be
Feeling bad....
you havent been eating FM's cookery have you?
Hey!!!!
I think you were just teasing her...we all mis-spell words and they look right... she just has a short fuse this am
No, I haven't. Will you dress up like Nigella to do said baking?
I hope that's all it was, ruru, I was just teasing and she hasn't liked it.
Eeew are you sure you want full frockage and clevage with your vanilla burbon croissant bread pud?
with a frilly apron
Im sure inge will realise you were only joking Haz.
If you wear an apron and take off the evening gloves, it'll be fine.
LOL OK, starts rattling pots and pans around in a knowedgeable way
throw in half a bottle of alcohol
zooms off to local patesserie undercover of all of the noise
Busy day here in Asheville. Have a smashing day, Babbler Nation! :-)
start drinking the other half
start drinking the other half
What's going down in Ashville?
three is that echo again
... ... et voila!
Get back here, FMitch. We accept nothing less than homemade.
Doctor appointment for beloved and other errands, but a lovely Monday, nonetheless!
Hi Scarlet Happy Monday to you :)
Oh well, that's good, Scarlet. I thought maybe there was another wiccan protest around the magnolia tree.
And to thee, Oh, Patient FMitch!
Curtsies to Scarlet but trips on petticoats.
but doesn't drow Haz's pud - hand to Haz for tasting....
Oh, Haz... it has not stopped... I have an unusual story about the wicca... there are three in our neighborhood. Nice ladies, but distant... fine with us, we are not highly social, just pleasant to all. Since my gardens are still in full flower, I had a call to request 20 (not more, not less) marigold heads for a ceremony which takes souls to a peaceful something or other, and the flowers are used to help the "crossing"... I consented and my husband just smiles... "At least they acknowledge our existence"... LOL
Why, thank you! It's bound to be delicious, though keep it away if there's a lot of cream involved. My gall bladder has issues with cream.
hi red.....woohoo for bosox
Hey, kat!! Smashing game! Yep, woohoo!
For a moment I though carlee was extolling the virtues of botox.
Have you seen what it does to some people?
forgot to tell you FM - you know I asked my dear husband to get some sticky toffee pudding? Well. He came back with a tinned syrup pudding by Heinz
How interesting Scarlet. Tiny smidge of cream Haz, all the rest is just good and yummy.
GASP!!!
If you put some curried lentils with it.....
de 6/27 clleu anyone?
so today I bought a PROPER sticky toffe pudding and I will have some with my dinner!
de6/27 - to remove from, undo.
And husband gets none?
too right :P
And Hobbit?
I should think so too!
he informed me that Tesco's don't sell sticky toffee pudding
thank you haz..
Hobbit might get a tiny weeny little smidge
You're welcome, ruru.
That would really rub it in, Atalante. Husband will feel the shame of it.
Rubbish - I have seen them on the cooler shelf and managed to wask past them, right next to the fresh custard and the chocolate roulades and the treacle tart and the .....
exactly FM!!
I have also witnessed them.
ARGH!!! stop all this talk of such things, back you demons, back I say!!!
I think I might eat some, give a bit to Hobbit, then scoop out the rest and put it in a tupperware thingy and hide in the fridge. Then show him the empty packing
If we scroll back, I think you started the talk of sweet things. You're to blame, as always, FM.
I was only doing it to comfort you - it's all your fault.
Fireworks here - tx for clues along the way
Back go the sackcloth and ashes.
ARGH...paperwork..and banks...
Go bokke - go bokke - go bokke - wooohooo
Congratulations ursh.
<POMPOM TOSS> for ursh... glad u enjoyed the game red...I made it to mid 3'rd inning..was 3-1 for beantown
Congrats ursh
Sorry could not resist
*Hugs for the day... sending some peace and strength your way, kattie
Yes! Congratulations on the world cup as well. Poor Englishmen are weeping into their beers.
Pfft
Now we have one heckofa World Series to look forward to on Wednesday evening, kattie. Hope it goes the full seven games.
hi peeps! Congrats Ursh on the world cup - I just got back from Capetown - they are going absolutely nuts over there!!!
Haz, why are you wearing sackcloth and ashes? Have you commited an unpardonable sin lately?
Hello Dachef!
Well done, ursh!
Scarlet, I teased inge, but she didn't get the joke and left quite abruptly. I feel badly about it.
Ty Dachef - do you come to SA often or just a once off visit
*pokes head into room* is it safe to enter?
Oops... well, this too shall pass. Haz, you are the least objectionable person I've "met" on this chatline... *waves wand of absolution*
Tolerably safe, TO.
could I get a clue on the first ha 6/21?
Thank you, Scarlet. I hope inge will accept my apology when next we meet.
apart from Haz ripping other babblers to shreds with her wicked tongue
no, just a once off. Anual conference for work. Well, I say conference.... the only conferring we really did was to decide which bar to go to next.
wow this chat is flying....
I'm certain she will Haz. You are NEVER mean-spirited. Yep, kat... as usual!
ha6/21 - three letters to indicate possession, last three letters to indicate allowing, or renting out.
ok i shall babble away, speaking only when spoken to...i got up on the wrong side of the bed i must admit....tired from weekend driving
but I have to say Ursh - your country is absolutely stunning.
i am off shortly to do a bit of shopping ( food ) and I just finished a mosaic frame for a wedding token gift...
We'll keep it in mind, TO and hope babble will soothe you.
new one for me thanks a gain haz
Oh great - glad you had a good time - weather not being kind at the moment - lots of wind and rain
aw, nice to be here
You're welcome, ruru.
Good morning babblers

Hi TO
the le's look exhaustingly long I think I will attack later.. thanks for the clues haz.. Inge will forgive you
I usually get a little "jumpy" when beloved has his follow-up oncologist visit... I simply adore this man in my life, kat.
Thanks ruru.
carleekat - would be grateful if you could point me in direction of mosaic websites - badly want to make a mirror (mosaic frames) for my bathrooms
well.. am sure all will be fine red... but its understandable... {{{hugs}}}
Muchas gracias, kattie. Must go shower and dress like a real lady now... jeans and an ancient denim shirt don't make for decent "doctor visiting" costume.
gee this grid is slow going...
i don't know any ursh... I just "do it" I take old china....use tile snippers to break the china up into pieces...use tile adhesive to apply and sandable grout a day later...
Afternoon all.........
Good afternoon caitlyn.
ok tx carlee - determined to give it a go - and looks fairly easy to do
Bye Scarlet see you soon. Afternoon caitlyn
i try to lay out the pattern to fit the object ..I just used a saucer to make a 4x4 frame...I buy the cheap wodden frames at micheals ( the wood is unfinished and takes the adhesive well )
And let's hope you have never unwittingly broken up a priceless piece of china. Wouldn't that be awful?
bye scar, hi caitlyn
hugs and smoochies... and you are in my prayers..take care..and keep me posted...
IFany of you have heard about the fires in Southern California, please keep good thoughts.. Large areas of San Diego are on fire.
Thank you all, and smoochies to you, dear kat. Yes, I will.
( I use china that the finish is cracked.... or chipped)
Haz, I am sending you best thoughts. You will make peace with inge... it's inevitable.
not near my home yet but I have friends who were evacuated
Thank goodness!
and the cheaper stuff holds up better..the really fine stuff...crumbles with the tile nippers
Thanks Scarlet, I hope so as well.
I've seen the fottage of malibu...the fires or horrid...
Im really excited..we have founda stray dog in the re-homing kennels and as long as all is okay we can have her on Weds
The fires have been in my thought all day Dr.
So you can't even get to work out your frustrations by smashing china? Your way, with the snippers, sounds much more precise.
footage* even
Wonderful cailtyn good for you!
DR I hope you keep safe
What is the dog like, caitlyn?
Thanks FM- I live in East San Diego County and the smoke is awful...
I drove in to work and they sent everyone home
the tedious creative things..works it out for me haz...and if you smash you loose track of the "pattern"...so all is good ...I feel quite..refreshed..go figure
She is a cross labrador with ??? Haz
Refreshed sounds good.
Well, if there's labrador there, the temperament should be good. Stock up, though. They like their food.
She has met all the grandchiden..and they have taken her for walks and she seems to love them..she is only 3 months old
Oh, she's a puppy, then. That'll be fun!
and towels! stock up with towels!
Roll on wednesday!!
and things to chew on too?
Don't be silly, FMitch - she has furniture.
should we show her what lizsark's lab did as a puppy?
Going shopping tomorrow armed with a big doggie shopping list..LOL
lol was just hinking that very thing
Maybe this one (being a cross) won't be quite as creative with the destruction.
If you lot put me off she will have to stay in doggie prison!! Its up to you lol
creative destruction .. a talent for tear-down
zips mouth to save the puppy :)
labs as a breed are destructive?
Oh I have been told she is cross staffodshire with labrador
Only when they're puppies - but I think Liz's lab was extraordinary.
*ponders mix*
Staffies are pretty benign, aren't they?
I think labs do generally like to chew though
Good mix
i thought staffs are the origin of the pit bull
they are both bull terriers
I hope so FMitch TO the staffs my friend has are really soft and stupid
A vet in the practice used to have a beagle who travelled around with her. That dog managed to chew most of the interior.
horrible what has been done to that breed over here
brb
I wish I'd grown up to be a vet
Im still waiting to be a grown up ;)
You could always retrain.
LOL and me FMitch
You need to take the sniff test first, though.
if I could afford to, I'd do it like a shot
back...the pit bull has been banned outright in places
It's banned over here as well, TO.
hi all back to find my last 39

cane corso is an italian origin dog - guard dog. we know it cheifly because two killed a woman in san fransicso and the trail of the owners was nationa lnews. from what i have read, they have little use besides guarding. and when one lives as close to enighbors a they do in the city it is frightening.

yw 10s gu
well, we have our harsh winters approaching ...
81F and sunny here in the nations capital. :)
ty EvaNadine. That would be great Harley riding weather.
doesnt feel QUITE as warm as 81 to me, but still, quite nice. :)
sat outside yesterday and read my book -- gotta take advantage of this late-season warmth!
isn't a bit warm for Washington at this time of year ?
half way done...this is hard today
quite! i recall last year for halloween, i was FREEZING! we have the oddest weather around here...and the forecast has it dropping down into the 60s later this week...
peace of cake latibug... just kidding
warm, windy, and "fire"y here
yes dandy, we heard about the fires around San Diego... are u affected at all ?
my school district is closed today...many friends have evacuated the area
so u r CLOSE to the fires then !
Where are you dandy?
I am close! North of San Diego, though. I am in the Santa Clarita Valley, not too far from Magic Mountain
OK.. I am in East county of San Diego we have lots of evacs as well
we have had about 25 structures lost so far...not sure how many of those are home, but probably most are, plus some outbuildings
stay safe . . . the pics and videos look HORRIBLE
They have evacuated hospitals, animal shelters, a very rich area of San Diego... Rancho Santa Fe, this is worse than th efires we had in 2003
lots of canyons make the wind very unpredictable
Yes and the winds are BAD
is this a relatively frequent occurence in your area in San Diego or are we to blame climate change ?
Hi I'm also in San Diego-- not personally affected yet-- live in University City area-- many friends and coworkers are being evacuated however
Hi Cheese- I live in Santee
Montreal our last really bad fires were 4 years ago
hi all, back to find my last 30
Hi DR looks like you're ok for the time being too?
Montreal, over half the US is in a bad-to-severe drought right now . . . much of it is recordbreaking
Yes, we are ok for now but it is nerve-wracking
so this is not usual in any sense then Cheese ?
Well we often have "Santa Ana" dry winds and low humidity conditions here
and we're told that an unusually dry winter is on the way . . .
heard about the drought of course but didn't realise it was that bad...
fires out around the west-coast-area are not uncommon, unfortunately...
I would not say it is unusual but because thewinds are so bad, they can not use the airplanes and helicopters that would normally be available
Atlanta is 80 days away from depletion of drinking water
even the St-Lawrence river gere is at almost a record-level low...
really? wow
*here
apparently because the great lakes are at lower levels...
ships have to lower their total tonnage otherwise they would scrape the bottom in some areas...
they were having that problem on the Mississippi this summer . . .
i better understand the SanDiego problem - cause without those water planes being able to fly, the fires are not fought with the same intensity as usual..
Hi all - can anyone help me with the ch8 - I have all the words around it including the 9 but cannot monkey this one

go, Vic, GO !!!!!!\
oh yes please!
thank you, but I have one question!!!! do you guys ever type in a word and it is not taken (not in dictionary) and then you type it later and it is taken?
http://nydamprints.com/holymt.html
i do that sometimes
I think when that happens to me it can generally explained by my having mistyped the first time.
Although I have had ones that said they took, and then later claimed still to be missing.
crpw I have had that experience
nobody has a clue for that icky final SE5.12?
i know i typed cesta in before probably a few times and now it took it
go figure
se5/12 - add a vowel to posted
the animals look wonderful together, Vi!
anything to drive me crazy
Thanks, Ata. I still can't quite decide how happy I am with it!
I'd be very happy if I was you! It would look amazing with a midnight blue sky ...
Vi.....thank you thank you thank you. I was positive that I had done that MANY times but obviously not.
did you do that Vi?
I thought about doing dark blue. Maybe if people actually buy it I'll do a seond edition in blue later.
yes she did, she's brilliant!
I should say so! That is incredible!
But it's a royal hassle getting it inked right when it's big and has lots of black space.
I thought you might have considered that already. I think blue and off-white would look fab
Awww.... *blushes*
its a challenge, dear ;)
Well, the thing is, when it comes to the actual printing, I get bored easily. That's why I never make an edition of more than 15 of anything!
My mother-in-law quits Vi. She has made beautiful ones for the girls
last 2 and I have been trying to monkey them for ages. Can anyone clue the ye5/14 and 6/24 combo plz before I go crazeeeeeeee!!!!
That's great, bbnaz. Nothing is as special as a beloved quilt -- art you can hug!
I can imagine!! Printing isn't the most interesting thing ...
YE + upside down u + not cofee but **a
ye 5/14 - Hebrew word and the pl
The very first pull is exceedingly interesting, but after that...
Of course, I love the piecing of quilting, but get bored by the actual quilting part... Obviously a pattern here. lol
her quilts are pieces of art. She is in her 70s and we have been blessed with many lovely ones. She is a bit of a traditionalist though
TY so much gracewer! That's FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!
my gram did hooked rugs but she was very modern. I was lucky enough that when she passed away I was the only grandchild to get one
short attention span maybe?
good onya sandie!
44 to go for me
I have an aunt like that. Her craftsmanship is infinitely better than mine and her quilts are exquisite, but so far she does not deviate a stitch from someone else's pattern.
But I have a very long attention span for the the piecing or the designing or the carving parts!
funny story was she would always fondle woolen outfits of her friends and tell them it was time to give them up so she could cut them into strips and make a rug
lol
she has been gone a long time and the one I was lucky enough to get is hanging on a wall in my living room.
97 left enough for the night! Good goodnight folks
97 left enough for the night! Good goodnight folks
97 left enough for the night! Good goodnight folks
I'm sure it's a real treasure, bbnaz.
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight, billmster!
awww Good night billmster.
It actually did duty at the top landing of the stairs in her house when I was growing up, but still is quite beautiful. That comes from being an artist during the depression.........make it beautiful AND functional
nite bill. love your photos by the way!
The first full-sized bed quilt I made I used every kind of scrap I could lay hands on, the old-fashioned way. But that means that some of the fabrics were already fairly worn and now every spring I have to patch over all the spots that wore through over the winter. So it looks a little different each year.
you are so lucky to have a quilt made by a relative bbnaz,
i made 6 quilts last year and this year and given to special people in the family,
ever changing art!
Wow, 6 in a year! You're prolific, crpw!
Wow - now that I know how I've just had great fun looking up the weirder words - love the soup definition - will have to remember that one for scrabble.
Right before we were married, she was going to sell a wedding ring quilt because she wasn't satisfied with her stitching........and I told her she could NEVER EVER sell any of them again. Unfortunately the ones that my great gram made were used till they fell apart
i made the quilt tops and hand quilted two and sent the other four to a long arm quilter lady
last word...and I need help de6/27
it is much easier that way, i will never hand quilt again
she made beautiful baby quilts for both girls and a phenomenal king size one for my husband's 50th and then a lovely one for us.....I think there are about 12 in all
Oh, I've never sent any of mine away. But I've also only ever hand-quilted one crib-sized quilt. Mostly I machine quilt... and not very well, either!
de + ta 4/6
when your retina is not in place it is said to be de******
de6/27 semi-de****ed house
less the ed
thank you so much....whoo hooo...
Where's Fiber Art for this discussion? She is an incredible art quilter.
thank you emamarie, i needed that one too
i have machined quilted a few but it is very hard if they are queen size or larger
I machine quilted a king-sized one and NEVER AGAIN!
well i am so bad that they are all put away as i don't want them to wear out. shame on me. maybe when the girls are gone they can come out (the full size ones)
i know, i need one of those gammill long arm quilters but i dont have the 40,000.00 extra to spend
hello everyone - da5,16?
just cant justify 40,000.00 for a few quilts
Me neither, strangely enough. lol
lol
hello deb -- russian house
da5/16 - Russian country house, da + ---rlie ---plin silent star
going to get dinner started, be back later
Bye, crpw.
Ata, any news on the salmon?
y
not yet, i'm waiting for a email from the client
ignore that elusive y please
So, ball's in her court for now. Leaving you free to amuse yourself as you see fit in the meantime.
oh yes :)
I did a bit more of the design, but I've asked her for some hard cash before I go any further!
Excellent. Especially on something you would hardly be doing for your own pleasure.
oh yes. exactly

Hi Nut
Hi, nut
what's new?
did i miss any trolls?
No trolls. However, I have been put on leave from my schol because of them!
what? huh????
how can you do that xanika?
Oh No Xanika
The troll infestation that occured last week were my naughty students.
uh oh, were you really put on leave?
The principal has put me on leave while he investigates because teir parents made allegations against me!!!
Sounds so unfair!
Thats awful
that's wrong!
are you getting paid?
I am being used as a scapegoat
Yes, I am getting paid, just as well!
well, that's just ignert, i'm sick of the things kids get away with anymore.
He is cranky with me because I have resigned from the school (because of the students' behavior, or lack of!)
where's digeridoo - his favorite word is in the grid
He has been angry with me for about the last 2 months; since I told him that I feel like a policewoman rather than a teacher.
maybe if he'd do his job you wouldn't feel that way xani
What type of school is it, Xan?
He was incenced with my comment about 'policing' the students!
howdy everyone!
Well, I can't name the school! However, it is a catholic school in Melbourne
Hi, Jen
well, he can get over it, if he doesn't have you then that's more he has to deal with.
Xan, did you resign, or were you placed on leave?
hey Jellen!
I had already resigned from the school. I have a position in an expensive private school for next year.
I always thought Catholic schools prided themselves on discipline.
I have been placed on leave for 6 school days, with pay.
i'll be back
Rather than accept the innappropriate behavior of the students that is giving the school a bad name, he is blaming me for the school's reputation!
former teacher so I understand.... schools get testy when you criticize the students. One (of many!!!!) reason I left teaching
Jellen, they do. I have worked in another catholic school for the last 12 years. I only started at this one at the beginning of this year!
so now when those kids come trolling the parents cannot blame you anymore
Inge, what do you mean?
The parents made allegations that I said, in this chat, that they would end up getting raped.
Is your principal sure that those kids wont try playing trolls again
Who knows!
good grief, I didnt know it had gone to such ends.
yep!
can anyone help me with y's? i have 2 affirming words and 3 yiddish matchmaking words
xanika why don't you go to archives and print out the chat? That way the principal can see their behavior and note you never made that comment
I remember opne of the trolls saying it was supposed to be the teacher's job to teach manners -- I say it's the parents' job. Where did those horrors get such foul mouths?
two y words have to do with rising bread dough
Ye*** helps bread rise
hurshy think leven bread
hurshy something used to bake bread
yeast
can I have clues on those yiddish words
well yes Jen that's it
darn!
sorry!
I have been able to think of little else. Fortunately I have a close cousin who is a lawyer and a friend who is a reporter for one of theose 'dodgy' current affairs shows who like this sort of dirt about schools, just in case I need him!
yes, Jen, that's the one
wrong box, Jen
I agee, Jill!
ea 5/10, please?
tend
naturally. i would miss the one i use all the time
Kristin, the principal has already printed out the log1
grr, sorry
Xanika that is an outrage, I'm sorry you have to go through it.
to make up for that snafu, ye5 and ye6(pl) is the yiddish word for a gossipy woman
Xan, I agree with kristin that you should go to the archives and print out the chat to show the principal
I have learnt a good lesson anyway, krisitn
oh -- missed that. Sorry
jili, he has it already
ea5/10 If you ate something it is ea***
It used to be that parents would back up the teacher no matter what.
ty, Mooch
Was there any punishment given to the kids who were here. I was on one morning when a bunch were acting up. I thought their behavior was terrible. Are the parents disciplining them?
Not the parents at this school. It is in one of the lower socio economic areas of Melbourne.
i need CSDSHSLSM
If he has the log how can he say what he did about you?
drat those s's
Xan, my first year of teaching, I showed selected scenes to my 7th graders (13 years old), Forrest Gump... scenes historical in nature (like him in MLK's speech, etc) and I got called on the carpet for showing it (even tho I censored)
Because he i s trying to bluff me I think. My lawyer cousin thinks he is turning it into a witch hunt.
parents used to say... if your teacher has to whip your hand again for not knowing your lesson, i'll give you a whipping you won't forget.
e is about to be told that I have spoken to a lawyer (I already spoke to the police, and he knows this)
ah, the good old days.
my mistake was not being a member of the teacher's union!!!
He sounds horrible, Xan
I just joined again this week. I have moved from another state and hadn't changed over to new union. But now I have. They were a good help!
Sounds good, Xan
I guess he is really worried. He has to attract teachers to this school. And if the reputation is bad, he won't be able to get good stafff!
ma 5/16, the first?
But, that ain't my problem!
add the sometime to the 4/6 before it, jellen
ma 5: what you strike to light a fire
Xan, what punishment did the kids get?
my 1st ma5/16 is something used to light a fire, but i don't use the list
game set ... ?
Anyway, I am enjoying my 'holiday'. Those brats still have to attend school!
ah... administration! yet another reason I left teaching! :) Good luck with everything Xan!
sorry -- that's the 5/18 -- the 5/16 is what you light a candle with
ty, kristin and hurshy.
The kids haven't been punished as far as I know. However, I had to leave them work and I made sure it is REALLY BORING ha ha ha!!!
ma 6/27?
ty jen
lol, xan!
ma6/27 -- plural pal
Ahoy there ma6/27
lots of textbook work, which I NEVER give them because I find it tedious myself Hahahah
Xan, I thought the brats were denied a trip
Oops. Thanks, jilli
Jili, the camp is still an issue! It is next week. Hopefully they wont be going. But I don't know yet!
sa 6/18?
I don't really want to go myself!
and kristin
sa6 a fabric
Thanks, hurshy.
Anyway, I must be off. I am going to a mother's group from church that I never get to go to because I work fulltime. Bye all
Bye Xanika
bye Xan, and best of luck -- enjoy your 6 days!
bye bye xan and take care
ty
Bye, Xan

yes, a very strange wedding
i mean word
hm. thanks for that one...
hurshy -- I did NOT need help OR the list yesterday!!!! well, I did ask for the total points and how many re words... but I did the rest all by myself!
nobody expects the spanish inquistion. or sc5/20.
that sc5/20 sounds delicious
hey, great job stid? how long did it take you? ;)
wtg stid, you wonder you!
well, cant fin, gotta watch dancing
have 113
gn
that first ? was supposed to be !
ummm.... a little bit... LOL I don't remember. :-) Was having too much fun!
i think it took me about... 10-15 mins...
but of course today I am back to my normal... will hit the list soon.
st 6/24
i should have timed it. my fastest grid was... i think 12 mins, but that was only 30 something so if i could beat that with 51 that would be cool
st6/24 dan
please?
sorry Jellen...
that gave me two words hursh-meisterin!
ackshully stid, this is a real ea4 grid, i've been zooming through it
you might not have to get list right away
I am down to 77, got past 100 in about 45 minutes last night. So for me, yes. Zooming. ;-)
Don't seem to know dan. Remedial clue?
Jellen -- st6-eyed men (gray eyes that are cold)
the villain cackled in triumph, but our hero looked back with a st6 gaze that bespoke the fact that he knew something
Oooh, the last st 6/24, please. Sorry about that
something highly to the detriment of...
hey then i need that one
I have an st 6/27... a past tense
is there an st between those?
um, meant is there an ST 6 between... *sigh*
stid, change the last cons on the st 6 you have
there's a horse
The 6/24 is just after the st6/27
cool! thanks mark! and inge!
there are 4 st6 words
:-) got em!
I haven't :(
Got it, thanks.
so that last st 6/24 is like a mini-st5/14
huzzAH, done with S!
go hurshy go!
are there two ce7s?
there's a CE 7? *thinking*
no silly
there is a cl7
DONE!
YAY Jellen!!!!
oh, now I see the mini 5/14 -- thanks, stid
aw, no fair, you beat me by gettin me to give you lotsa clues
WTG Jellen!
YAY jellen!!!
okay, thinking.... oh hurshy... I found the 9 by myself last night!
there's a related 8 to the 9
awesome stid! i found it too! very exciting.
yes, there is a ce7
Sorry, sometimes that's the way with a list and clue-enabled, hurshy
how many h6's are there?
too many
17 h's
3 ha6s
no no, h6's
there's the ce7 instrument...what's the other?
3 h6's
thanks jilli
and one L6 or 2?
they're all ha
sorry Hursh
ce 7 instrument? like in music?
there are three he 6's
oh! I got it! :-)
yep, stid
well they'd rather have to be, wouldn't they, lol
ce7 think stars
oops, no he only ha
well, there's a hy top right -- you never know
you DO know, because that box says H0/0, lol
oh, yeah, duh
hello world! (hursh, be with you in our game in a sec!)
okay, I am down to 73... getting the list so as to avoid getting more insane.
ok, so i have two of the ha6, and they both have to do with hurrying. what do i need?
hello feathery! how's our boys? how's the class? are you doing okay?
hi feather, you missed me making a pb ref, AND a monty python ref
oh dang!
Hi, feather
ha 6: ha + tobaggon with dif. last cons
and it's off the chat box, oh well
3rd to last ne 4,4
?
please
ah. got the cl7!
the boys are drippy but good! school was nuts today
ha6/21 -- already rented
good clue inge@!
thank youuuuu inge!
nothing seemed to go right! had a girl crying all morning because she missed mommy, (looong story there too), so she was coming up to me almost every 5 minutes with an issue which made the morning difficult
hi feather and inge and drem
Drem: ne 4 is the Hawaian goose, ne doubled
oh feather, that is tough. We have a couple who are inclined to stuff like that in the first grade, too.
marty would do that if he were in your class, too, feather
then a parent was ticked because we wouldn't release his kids because we didn't have a note from him...i mean, we did release them, but we had no clue that they weren't supposed to go on the bus!
THANKS!!!
first DE 6 please?
meow? he would say, in a high pitched pathetic manner.
hey, peeps
finally a student i had last year dropped in his literacy evaluations, and was recommended for reading recovery, and mom was "blindsided" even though I had made note of it in his report cards, etc
de + penny, stid
stid -- separate
*blush* I've been the parent like that... kid forgot to turn in his note and I got mad. then I had to go apologize the next day.
i'd give him some tuna and he'd be quiet though! this girl just wouldn't let up
thanks Jill
and Jellen
oh, that's not the first de6 -- sorry *going back to the grid for S words*
so, um, is there just one L6, or are there two?
well, this guy was dropping the F word in front of his kids, saying this school sucked, he wasn't bringing them back, etc. i don't think we'll get an apology!
wow. sounds like the home life might be a bit unsettled feather...
1 le; 1 ly
and the poor girl...her parents are split, and she goes to mom one night and dad the next, literally every other night. no wonder she has some security issues
poor kids. Tough to have a parent that out of control.
thankeroonies jell
hurshy, there's le6/18 and ly6/24
one le 6 and one ly 6
that's okay Jill -- I had needed the one you clued also!
and the teacher of the kid who dropped in reading was just nasty about him, saying he's lazy and doesn't do anything, etc. i hate hearing that! he may well be, but he does also have some redeeming qualities that she doesn't seem to mention
and does the ly6 make any sense whatsoever?
so all in all a rough day. sorry you asked yet? lol! thanks for letting me vent!
have you got the ly4/6?
ooh i got it!
no hursh. ends in past tense of comsume
very good
((hugs)) to Feather
now i must find a mere one more word
my experience is that the kids at that age who are struggling are not lazy -- either they are just overwhelmed by forces outside their control (or the schools) or they have trouble
one is the loneliest number that you'll ever seeeeee
sorry you have to deal with that sort of nonsense, feathery
go hurshy go!
which one is missing?
gooo hursh!
yes, let's play a different sort of nonsense
nonsense, nonsense, simply can't do without it
he's mainly a bit young acting for his peer group
burn incense to nonsense and sing us a song about it
let young master willy be hopelessly silly until he is blue in the face
what if i get incensed about the smell of the incense?
we must never be grave
tis nonsense will save
the bloomin' human race!
then you're really in trouble dear feather!
ok, what's that from?
the 4 hour live action movie version of alice in wonderland
ok, i hear a few scrabble games calling me!
good flick.
LE 6/18 please?
easterish
dun dun dun dun DONE!
YEA Hurshy!
you just gave me heart palpitations hurshy! i thought that was a second bingo for that game!
yay hursh!
YAY hurshy!
lol
very good, hursh
le6= Christian season before Easter.
Well done, hurshy
got it. *facepalm*
okay LY 6 then?
who is very good hurshing me???
tyger
well i know that
I am down to 43
stid, do you have the 2nd ly4/6?
ly and satisfy stid
(it's the only word i have entered for this grid!)
oh! thanks feather!
I do now tyger! :-)
Oh. I'm a femme Michigander stuck in MS, in my 60s
does that help?
I've been on here before lately when you were
well, no, not exactly, lol
then tell me what you want
ooh! got all the M words! down to 37...
i know. i said, "well well, look who's burning in the forest of the nyght"
i dunno if i can, tyger, it's too 'barrassing. feather, can you splain it?
Hey, I can't help it if he spelt it that way back when :)
nope, can't splain. shall i sum up?
i like the spelling
yes, sum up
well, so do I
Please do, feather. I'm confused.
lol, can't even do that as you've lost me! ah well
lyke the spellyng
I don't do sums... tried to explain how to make combinations to twelve today and failed miserably. Will take a pile of pennies on Wednesday!
me too jellen, but had to do a little PB quotation (sort of) in there
well if i splain it you will not like me anymore.
PB?
my problem is i'm flipping between here and scrabble, so i wasn't paying full attention here
?????
Hi everyone
hey, mom
oh, is it the guilt thing hursh?
Hi, Mom
no feather
ok, yup, i'm lost then!
Hi Tyger, welcome. I don't believe I have seen you here before. How long have you played>
?
Hi Jellen
ST 7 please? it's my last S word
hi mom!
lemme ask you this tyger... what do you find easy in life?
tyger used to play a lot, Mom. She's cool!
I played for a couple of months at the very beginning, then dropped out (takes too long)
Hi Stid :)
I started playing again a couple of weeks ago
oops i said a word
I can't play every day. I've already resurrected my carpal tunnel
stid, the bride walked down the aisle st7
I am glad you did tyger -- sometimes we just need that break. It'
st7= st5/10 + adverb suffix
It's too simple to get dragged in.... LOL
stid, st7 = queenlike ,perhaps (or presidential?)
what do I find easy, hursh? words and animals. I find people hard. I'm an introvert
it is nice to meet you.
HI Nrkii
I've got 8 left... dropping by for hints before I go to list
got it! thanks NRK and Jellen!
fun grid today
:-) thanks mark, too!
hi nan!
go nrk go!
hi all!
and i'm returned
ditto, mom
thank you Tyger
hi nut! where's nan, feather?
Hi Nutty
hi nut!
sorry, nrkii is nancy, nan
I'm also a former Dane breeder, like Jilli
i wasn't seeing people in my head, honest!
were too feather
ok, one, but it wasn' t nan
it was sir quentin ruthurford
so, if like, someone showed you a picture of a beagle, and said, is that a great dane? and you said, no. and they said, "very good, tyger"
I didn't remember that tyger! I got to see lots of pics of Jill's dogs when we visited this summer, AND read her book! It's amazingly cool history. So many things I never considered!
oh! I have to call her nrk or I get her confused with cybernan LOL
*groans*, hursh!
oh, the good grades issue!
I didn't say it before here. I wanted to contact Jill privately first (which I have, now)
why is nut groaning? did i make a pun by accident?
HA. found feather's profession! :-)
we think we were at the same dog show in Ontario in 1973
hmm, how many different lines of conversation can we get going at once?
:)
way cool tyger, such a funny thing when we run into people "later" like that!
um, a lot apparently
nuthing hursh, carry on then
How 'bout those wildfires!
(just kidding)
I can't tell what makes a good beagle, hursh. I CAN tell what makes a good Dane :)
indeed it is, stid
Hi Krista
A "good" beagle would be one bred to not bay just because the shadows move...
but no, not asking you to judge the beagle. asking merely if beagle=dane. and you say no. and they say "very good tyger"
lol, this is too schizophrenic for me!
Hi Mom - awesome icon!
evening all! back for the last 75
A good Dane is from denmark, not norway...
thank you Krista
CE 7?
Hi Dan
Hi, dan
hi dan! you might want to be careful entering the conversation(s) we're a bit scattered tonight
ironically Dan, that's where i b 2
whatever you say, hursh. You are being totally impenetrable. If that's not what you intend, please explain?
sorry Phan, can't help you.
ce 7 starts like a word for "the heavens" and ends in a vowel. It's a type of musical instrument
ce7 - musical instrument
ce7 is like the strange musical instrument but with a different vowel ending
hurshy is our enigmatic one tyger... LOL
i thought there were 2 ce7's
okay, great enigma... the second TA 5/10 please? I cannot seem to monkey it!
I can easily believe you, stid
tyger, she's saying she feels funny being praised when it's something she's good at
you would think it was silly, n'est-ce pas? if they said "very good tyger" for being able to tell breeds of dog apart? the yays are bad enough but "very good hursh"!
there's a ch7
and a cl7
thank you for the ce 7 clue
ah ha
see? i can sum up after all!
Hi Mark

...speaking of 'bout time, how's the scrabble game going hursh? ahem....
oh, is it my turn? i forgot, cause the goalposts.
I had to learn to give compliments. I was raised NDN (native American) style, which means no compliments, unless extravagantly overearned.
*fishbop* I have the two after that one nrk! LOL thanks!
lol, yes it is
cl7 = having spiky things on the bottom of the shoe
fitting in (still learning) has taken much effort

I'm Cherokee
wow stid, go yourself!!!
hm. okay, need a push for the very last word. Literally -- the LAST YE 5?
but it's true that most NDNs don't like people fixating on their faces
they probably lumped all NA together, to tell you the truth...which is also a very ethnocentric thing to do, which they were trying teach us to avoid
same as the ye 5 b efore it with a different vowel Stid
Change the last letter of the 5/14 before it
that was it! thanks Jellen!
de 6 27 help please?
ly 6/24
firewords (and tyger, any time I finish, feel free to praise me)

It was an overview of lots of cultures, so I guess we just hit the main points.
ly 6/24??????????????????????
sounds about right, esp. for a survey course :P
ly6= ly + satisfy
I am learning, as I am trying to understand the history of the local people to me, that even tribes that were geographically next to each other might have vastly different traditions in many ways.
2nd ly4/6, minus last letter, add on past tense of eat
DA 5?

I hope all is well for your son, LBD and DR also
copied the URL, thanks
I like the NW art styles the most, next to Anasazi pottery
tyger, I am learning that -- but I had a strange encounter with one woman when I toured their museum... being of irish extraction, I was taught to always chatter about how nice things are. Apparently, that is unusual for my neighbors. *sigh*
thanks mom, it's been a rather nerve wracking day.
es words?
Anasazi pottery is quite sophisticated
Are they in San Diego? I finally reached my nephew. He's ok but the smoke is getting to them.
well, made it to halfway .... time to get ready for bed. Hugs to all and pleasant dreams
I am about to call my aunt to inquire about her children and grands... back soon all.

chatter is unusual for any NDNs I know anything about :)
My hubby just left to help some friends evacuate.

Oh my. When I called my nephew, he said it was mainly to the east of him. Are you in danger where you live??
his biological egg donor lives in scripps and was evacuated. I can only imagine the noise she made.
They evcuated Scripps ranch which is on th eother side of the freeway but it was precautionary becasue tttttttthey do not have enoght firefighters to fight th e8 fires

They only moved the endangered animals from the Wild Animal Park
ruru, it comes before Easter
ruru, the time before Easter
Yes Krista, you would of had to leave
but it's the adjective not the noun
i was wondering where they would evacuate the elephants, and all the other LARGE animals.

It makes me heart sick as the fantastic Jades parents lost everything and at least 2 other Cali friends are affected
very sad - my brother lost his house in S. Cal. a few years ago, he still struggles emotionally with it
I have another friend who just moved to the San Juans from Malibu (she lived in a double-wide, not rich, she hastens to mention) partly because the constant threat of fire was so scary.
