As far as I know, minimal smoke damage...they'll need to replace the carpet, and some of the furniture...but other than that....they were EXTREMELY lucky.

Crap. You say thanks after I was a total idiot....well, you all had a great laugh at the first "word troll!"!!!
THanks Jai
well jai, at least you are now a legend... when someone enters a word in the chat, they will be 'doing a jai' LOL... (love ya!)
hi jai!!
lol mrp
BTW< I have 88 words...Most of which you all probably have by now.... <blush again>
i never thought i would see you exhibit such troll-like behaviour! :-)
I can't even count the words I have placed in the chat so far by not paying attention. If I had a nickel for every time I did it I would own this game... lol
ummmm mup lol
Yes, but you didn't do it for FIVE minutes straight!!!!
LOL! that makes you the legend!
Thanks for a giggle Jai and welcome
Hi, all....

Hi Dc

hi, lady
Hi DC 24 hours later and the taps still not fixed
oh phhhhhhhfffffft
Oh it isn't like that! LOL, it is to save your sanity my dear
like I would not understand how it is to pull a jai
how tedious.
but I ignored the words, jai ;)
st 7
Don't pull my jai please.
Yep I shredded the teflon tape and had to buy more.
LOL!
we'd have to find it first, spatial!

lady, is the threading true on the piping, and or have you tried sweating a bead, if it's accessable? (my family are pipefitters by and large)
looking for it could be fun...
hi kids
i call that the Banana Boat Song te7, Mr. P. Kinda. Sorta.
fusion is mine
almost a composer, that compound :)
mine was manacle/s lol
Its that stupid tape that you wrap about the wash nut and the stem nut to seal it
sounds more like a cheese to me
Hi guys

I just ordered the superduperwhopper rubbish skip. Say goodbye to my shit! 8 years worth of crap!
does the st7 go off the 5?
not sure carra havent got it yet lol
that in itself is part of the silver lining, mrP!
no carra, is a badass word with the lisp F as the second and third letters
It's a great thing to throw it out. We got a dumpster, and had 2 garage sales, and donated etc. etc. and still moved with too much. Are you going far?
Mr Pres i would love to do that but i cant - we live on a main road so no can do
stelch
oops at least its not a word
lol
lol
Oh and if i say MAN instead of MAIN i have been doing it all day
not far at all rel... a couple of suburbs away for now.
get in the penalty box infern
oh shoot.
yes it is it is someone who sneaks up and you and belches
that is sttelch
Ah...we moved a couple of states away with two crazy dogs, but any move's a big deal.
I am not with the thinking today
ok whats in the pantry in the penalty box lol - i feel like desert lol
i moved from DC to Boston with a cat on my shoulder :)
mrp -- i just used the bulk add function of lickety's board. it was AWESOME!
lemon creme cookies, kiwi?
I am back on Weight Watchers and not eating at night, hallucinating about a tuna me**
oh yum
macadamia -chocolate tortes
any icecream to go with that dc? lol
well, a couple of suburbs away is like a couple of states away here LOL!
not tonight, i want real food, but only convenience stores around here until 5.
Right, mrpres! Big Country!
relarion! tuna has no fat or nothing but protein! go for it!
dcs, don't they have sandwiches?
i think ive got cookies and cream still left hidden in the back of the freezer lol
and more mercurey than a thermometer
Someone online is asking for donations to help with cat bills. Hubby and her finished collage, moved cross the states with three cats. During the move their ute (truck) flipped taking out their car and caravan with everything they owned. Cats lived so did they but now kitty is sick so she was asking for suggestions
i eat not meat nor fish nor seafood, so not much of use to me there.
No tuna in house mrpres. I'm used to late-nite stomach growling. Well...bb for now.
i got a goodie bag from this event in nyc.. there were thee great cookies from a place cupcake couture yummmmmy
see ya rel! :)
DC you a vegan?
speaking of cats.....my kitty appears to have survived his near death experience thank goodness.
BB wat did the kitty do?
Take care mp *poof*
on, ovo-lacto veggie, MUCH too lazy to be vegan, plus i like my cakes and cookies, whith whole-fat dairy in them.
best go pretend to cook for the kids... bbs :)
Why
kitty climbed into rarely used minivan on FRIDAY and I just discovered him this morning. Mind you I live in the desert
tired tonight nite all poof
bye mrP *hug*
night dart
Wow mrpresident...would NEVER have gotten st7 without your clue!
night dart! night relarion!
and the outside daytime temps have been in the 90s
why veggie? It turned my stomach watching my mother to prepare it, wasn't willing to cook it when i moved out, stopped eating it.
Fair enough i cant stand the smell of pork. Poor kitty
glad it ended well, bbnaz
night dart
hi bb!
hey Fran :)
I have a few awesome vegan recipes
omg - i just found out that hubby brought home a strawberry cheesecake for dessert - it was hidden in the fridge lol
nite dart sweet dreams
very lucky kitty! and if I hadn't called him at 5.30a I most likely wouldn't have heard him croaking/calling and he would have passed as it was really hot again today.
Groovy hidden well obviously. I made a wicked cheesecake on thursday.
hi sprite, i've been here a while. ;-)
BB i think kitty checked out a few of those nine lives silly cat.
fireworks!! night
congrats carra bye
congrats carra!
am sorry, Fran.
he is my younger daughter's pet although I am fairly fond of him too
well considering he cooked tonite i really didnt have a reason to go looking in there earlier lol
i'm in and out of the chat...watching dancing with the stars right now. :-)
didn't really register, I think Fran, entry was kinda bumpy today
Having a white cat she stays inside. Damn furball climed onto the second shelf and hid on my old white satin 'wedding' dress. Couldnt see her and only her bell rattle made me look
There was a thought of putting a tracking device on her collar to find her - like those key finder beepers
he has his strong points, Kiwi
Howdy, Babblers!
hi frog
awful feeling though isn't it? I really thought he was dead. He goes in and out but mostly to the next door neighbors for drive through take away.........
Thats nice Groovy hi frog
Hi Frog
hi frog!
My cat is inside as you can see from my pics you'd now why
hi all -- very late flip
woohooo firewords for me
gee that st 7 took a bit
How's the grid? Just got here and seem to have 30 words down already.
wtg Kiwi
BB how does a grey horse give birth to a dark foal? Sire dark?
good eve frog good eve jilli happy babbling
just got here too -- haven't looked at the grid yet
phantom: chiliahedron
not necessarily herin could be some black genes in her coming out
or birth late at night...lol
Yah Groovy
Hi babble and Jill
like a pigment thing
hi BabbleRabble, good to see you
good day peoples
chila what bab? lol
Hi Jilli & BabRab
hi babrab! hi jilli!
BB very cute horses though i love foals all legs
hey jilli *hug*
Spose i should do stuff
and hi lynxxx (or did I miss you earlier too)
ok im gonna go attack that cheesecake lol happy babbling all see ya tomorrow for flip
Every white horse born (except the rare albino) is born dark. The grey gene turns them white as they age. The Lipizzan horses are all born dark
bye kiwi!
Yum Groovy
BB so dang cute though
nite all
Hi Sprite
Night Groovy
bye Kiwi - not too much now
if you look closely at Luna's nose and around her eye you can see she is greying even in those photos. I get to see her tomorrow so I will have newer photos by the weekend.
bye Kiwi
I love horses
My neighbor is pinching our green bin like i told them too
I know my dark saw horse got lighter with age
My friend had to sell her horses which was sad
that was a sign of wisdom, BabbleRabble
lol BabRab
heeheehee BR...i hope that you were kind to it in its dotage.
could be; I expect the sheetrock dust contributed
love your flickrs, bbnaz
What is sheetrock? plaster?
Lynxx our plasterboard
more than the sawdust anyway
thanks for that jilli. come from a family that loves to take pics
us
ok, am gonna lick my wounds and give my kids some breakfast and reading and mummie time. Back later and I will try to be nice.
Enjoy Sprite
later sprite!
I should feed kitty
later, sprite
bye for now Sprite
i must finish tonight as tomorrow I haul show horses to Tucson which is 140 miles south of here. Turn around and back on Wednesday. That is why I get to see Luna........
Later Sprite!
Wow BB thats awesome
I love horse. I wish i could ride more
come and visit and you can ride the Silly Filly (the bay one). She is a half sister to Luna. I have raised her too.
awww. My friends horse got out once and ate her prize winning roses
haha. that reminds me of when i first got married my hubby taught my dog to eat cherry tomatoes. he grew this magnificent beefsteak tomato and Nikki promptly ate it off the vine. She really really liked it.
My b.fs parents breed standard poodles and one of them sensed when strawberries where ripe and she would eat them all but the green stem
back soon
¡ay! what a word the st7.
how many points is it dc?
st7/32
thanks
got it! thanks again
:)
i am not at the st yet....but y'all are making me nervous.
it just has a strange combination of beginning consonants bb. it would be hard to pronounce. :-)
let us know when you need a clue for it bb.
it's an odd word, bb
got ma6 & un6, what 6 am I missing?
wow, didn't think fu4/13 would be accepted.
lisp is the 2nd&3rd chars
he6 lshult
great picture dc...spooky, but really nice.
thanks for the fu4/13, fran!
i thought it was really beautiful. I like classic portrayals of Death, and totally adore the medieval treatment of Death in the Adventures of Baron von Munchausen. :)
the grim reaper seems somewhat nonplussed being eyeballed by the bunny
is there more than one fu4/13?
yes, i agree, babrab
yw jilli
no, dc
good eye babrab, didn't even notice the bunny. :-)
mmmm. cookie jar
thanks for pointing out the un6 lshult, i didn't have it yet.
death is so permanent
indeed so, but thus it is for the denizens of this world.
has anyone ever watched the movie "Dragonfly" with Kevin Costner?
yes, thanks fran again for thanking ishult for the un6 which I just got, lol!
no, fran, i've not.
may i get a clue for the un6, pls?
only for the body BabRab
some would say this is merely a way station; a hiatus in the life of an eternal
the pres tells us it's state every month dc
that matches my personal theology, babrab
un 6 is a plural of the afl-cio
dc look in the upper left corner
sigh. that shoulda been obvious. esp since i've been doing reserach on Grand Un5 recently.
anyway, if you get a chance to watch "Dragonfly" do, the theme is along the lines of what we're talking about...the spirit living on.
cool
thank you for the tip, Fran
i was quite surprised by it, it was on USA network at 2:00 am so I didn't know what to expect. starts out like a ghost story, but ends in a really nice way. don't want to give anything away
I spent a lot of time when I was very young trying to get a grasp of the concepts of eternal and death .. I new it was a long time and frustrated myself trying to find a way to hold out and continue among the living
see you all later.....
bye lynxxx!
bye, lynxxx!
cya, lynxxx
knew too
i, otoh, learned early on the lesson of mortality of the body, and the immortality of the spirit, thanks to the plethora of undertakers in the family.
i'll check it out sometime, fran, sounds neat.
just don't expect oscar material...it might have been straight to videotape. :-)
rockets red glare and now bed beckons. i will catch you all when i get back from tucson (if there is no wireless at the hotel)
congrats, bbnaz
night bb!
and yay!!!
morning all, back again for the rest
goedemorgen, sprite
wb sprite!
well, more than halfway and drooping -- goodnight everyone
I have to ask: am I really such a b*tch when someone makes an honest mistake like jai did earlier?
night jilli!
off to process emails, back in a bit.
sweet dreams, jilli *hug*
and bfn dc
later dc
I doubt if you are ever b*tchy, sprite
i missed that sprite. someone called you a b*tch?
I can be... try not to though. Especially in chat.
I missed it too
oh no Fran, nobody did. It's just that they said it was lucky I was not online when jai made her mistake.
what mistake?
entering words in the chat in stead of in the word add box.
doesn't everyone?
i see, it was actually very funny what jai was doing
I think I am too touchy about it, it is just... well, guess I am kinda vulnerable in this area.
jilli, she did it for 5 minutes straight
almost a third of the words in the whole grid!
oh yes, we all do! I can't remember ever having been angry at anyone doing it, you see.
only it seems jai was focussing purely on the grid and did not see it for a long time, lol... must have been funny
sounds hilarious, poor jai!
i think she had the chat hidden, she doesn't chat much at all anymore.
someone said posting a word in the chat would be known from now on as 'doing a jai' :)
she was starting to repeat words so i think she was noticing that her word count wasn't changing.
poor thing, everyone was practically shouting at her. :-)
like not really leaving is "doing a jilli"
but well... anyway, the thought that people actually single me out as the one better not online when that happens, kinda worries me.
:P fran
exactly, Fran :)
don't worry about it sprite...those of us that babble and chat with you all the time know you wouldn't have been mean
I'm really leaving now, lol! *poof*
and then getting the word seconds after asking for a clue is called "pulling a peri" :-)
((jilli))
that's what I hoped, Fran, but it seems not :( Not for all my babble friends anyway.
*hugs jilli on her way out*
in fact, i've never seen you be mean to anyone in the chat, so i don't know where they got that thought.
well, thanks for reassuring me that at least you don't think I am that intolerant. I think I better lay low for a while, not chat too enthusiasticly and watch my words...
please don't sprite...i'll miss your company
so we have babble lingo: pulling a peri, doing a jai, doing a jilli and pulling a goldie (asking for another clue 2 secs after one was given, because you did not get it)
oh, I don't mean I won't chat, Fran, just am going to watch what I say carefully before posting.
the goldie is a new one for me. :-)
and thanks for saying so :)
oh, okay sprite...had me worried there.
no, I am worried that people I chat with so often would think I would give jai a hard time over something like this.
must have been some things I have said earlier, I guess... don't know which, so I better watch out what I say then.
and I realise I might be overreacting too... am still very vulnerable in this respect, one of the things from my past that are scrambled by my parents, have not totally gotten them straight again.'
i went back and read the log...i had missed the comment, but i see what you mean now.
i think everyone was just flustered by what jai was doing...don't read too much into it dear.
am trying not too... but doesn't really work, sigh. That's why I had to ask. Better ask than worry about it all day, right?
that's true
I simply ask, sprite, if someone says something that you interpret as an unwarranted criticism, is that your problem? That person's problem is not your responsibility unless feel left out not having one.
I know you are right about that, BabbleRabble. I just told myself the same. But it seems my feelings aren't convinced by what I know to be correct.
stupid enable...how is leche not allowed?
just drop last letter, Fran
thanks sprite
then do yourself a favor and do a better job of selling what you know to be true
guess it has to do with old feelings. Like no matter what I do or say, people will view me in a negative way.
am trying to, BabbleRabble, really.
brb, have to tidy up the kitchen real quick
good luck Fran!
i do not view you negatively, sprite
Morning all. Phantoms manacle and manacles.
morning, frances, and indeed so.
thanks dc, for telling me.
morning Frances
for that matter sprite, getting to know you here has doubled my reasons for visiting Amsterdam.
Transference is that set of ways of perceiving and responding to the world which is developed in childhood and which is unually entirely appropriate to the childhood environment (indeed, often life-saving) but is inappropriately transferred into the adult environment.
hello, Frances
yup, exactly that, BabbleRabble
excellent point, BabbleRabble
i'm back!
babrab, do you use a dvorak keyboard mapping?
wb Fran... kitchen all shipshape now?
it wasn't that bad and the dishes will wait until tomorrow
no, dc, have no idea what it is
Beautiful day here. Temperatures forecast to be above average for the time of year.
hi frances! wb dc!
sounds lovely Fran
i think it's interesting that the qwerty keyboard was developed to slow down fast typists.
it is, Fran! But only to prevent the letter arms to get tangled.
for me, dvorac is a composer
well, the dirty dishes aren't lovely, but i like washing dishes when there is sunlight coming through the window and i can look at the flowers outside.
dvorak keyboard: http://tinyurl.com/9x84j i saw unually instead of usually and that's a typical dvorak substitution.
Lickety is on the roof! I have never seen so many leaves in a gutter!
ah, that makes sense sprite
hi mrp!
yes, AntonÃn Dvořák is a composer. August Dvorak created the keyboard layout.
i am not a good typer or proofreader
i learned to type on a manual typewriter so i am very heavy-fingered!
hi again fran :)
all good. :) perfectly intelligible, it was.
i learned on manuals also; in HS they introduced word processors.
dc, did you have to relearn touchtyping to use the dvorak?
mrP, can we chat in Skype for a sec, by typing?
sure thing
phantom: ensue
I learned on a mechanical typewriter too, Fran. I was able to transfer my power to speed and am very fast now
yes, fran, but it was well worth it. i attached a tiny spreadsheet with teh layout to my keyboard for a week, and was transitioned.
i'm pretty fast on a keyboard too, but you can still hear my typing in the next room. :-)
hello peoples
I learned on a manual too and am quite slow, but with multiple typos
hi random
it doesn't seem that different dc, but different enough to have a bit of a learning curve.
hi random
hello, random
jytgkjhkuygyk
donc
eklfjm dont tlk to me
your postings are always very low on typos, BabbleRabble, I'd say.
well, only the A and M keys are in the same place of the non-numeric and ~ keys.
i agree w/sprite, babrab
oh, the | doesn't move either :)
that's true, don't see many errors in your posts babrab, so you're a better proofreader than you think!
I have fun with typing
I have fun with your typing as well :) Always interesting entries :)
if I cannot laugh at stuff, why bother
i like the quotes you picked today babrab.
me too, especially the last one. So very very true.
i just realized i have only 4s and 5s left. that means i can't open the list now
Lol fran... so hard on yourself?
Morning all - it wont take thujone
i figure 4s and 5s are all monkeyable. :-)
hi gran... and it should?
lol gran, good morning
they are, Fran, but it takes a lot of time :)
th 5 -- the little fellow in the circus, tom ***mb; and the psychopath in london, **ck the ripper
yep - its a chemical in thyme and some other herbs lol. Do I need a single monkey or a fleet today?
well, that is one I'd never have gotten without your clue, BabbleRabble, thank you
thanks babrab. monkeys probably would have failed on that one.
a fleet gran!
fleet, grana
hi all, if it accepts that babrab it should accept grana's!!
so far 2 fleets, gran, but I still need 27
ah - thank you. Thats not encouraging!
hey MVA
I wondered if it was going to be supergrim when I got about 20 and ground to a halt LOL
morning, MVA
don't worry, there is always help. :-)
hi mva!
hi MVA!
ch 5 -- add, the carol, a little town in b***lehem
Back again. Don't know what happened - my laptop went on strike and I had to reboot.
how irritating, Frances
hi frances
resistentialism, Frances
hi again frances...laptops tend to do that
.....so annoying!
down to 18, going to save them for tomorrow.
sleep well Fran, sweet dreams
have a good day or night everyone!
bye!
bye bye fran
Bye Fran. Sleep well.
the sacred mountain from Japan is a valid word
Ta Sprite!
Right, must go do "playgloop" run, then back - after I find the escaped hamster
yw, I monkeyed like mad to find my last F :)
good luck gran!
good luck gran!!
Escaped hamster? Listen for the sound of gnawing wood!
the amount of times he gets out, he might as well be free range
dear old thing, we all adore it, hes more like a small bear. But there is NOTHING he cant get out of
okay, see you all later *poof*
Is he called Houdini?
fele
bye for now, gran

hee. just before work tonight, i went online ,th4 on the phone, to check my chequing acct balance, and found that my acct number was not valid. Turns out my credit un5 changed my acct number today, and i had not opened the letter with the notice. :D That was a relief to find i still had an account.

Back again, Sprite. I just ate dinner. Yes, I am going on camp!
you are a hero, if you ask me, Xanika!
looking forward to it, xanika?
ty! he's a shepherd/terrier mix - rescue
I checked in the detention book and the kids didn't even get a detention.
well done, tizer.
ds, I am looking forward to going with my nice students. I will try to keep away from the others as much as I can.
jehr
sounds like an excellent plan, xanika. In grade 5 our class went camping, t'was great fun.
There a re many disgruntled teachers. At least 7 have resigned in the last few weeks!
i'm glad to hear, that just goes to underscore the wrongheadedness. :)
that is incredible, Xanika, so many! Well, goes to show... and I am glad you are about to move on to a better place too. I hope you have a lot of fun with the nice kids!
looks like a very sweet dog to me, tizer!

yw
sigh. i'm trying to work, but network is so degraded at the moment, that i cannot really do much
hi
hello
How are you? I keep forgetting to change my icon
eh, okay. we've had network problems intemittanly that has kept me from doing work.
but, i can game. :)
Sigh. I was studying and the case study made me stop as i was getting pissie about it
working for the commonwealth of virginia was so much nicer than any stint i've done with the feds.
oh, studying what, if i may ask?
Business Admin Legal Cert 4
neat! i would find that mindnumbing i think.
clue for le4/5?
It is boring the case study is just stupid. For example. Maria works for Bob and Petes legal firm. Bob asks her to do a letter urgent. She finishes the draft and sends it off without Bob seeing it
THe problem with this that i had is if you are my boss and you ask me 'Urgent' I will ask you 'by what time' which wasnt in the case study
DC so far i have all As and one C which was a case of misunderstanding
le plus Bill Clinton's wife's first two initials
Um Haz do you mean madam wants to be a pres as i dont think that is in the grid?
ty, haz, i tried every combo but that.
it is in the grid
is it?
You're welcome.
Her first name initial, her maiden name initial.
I cant see it?
Thanks i got it thank you
That's good.
SOrry had a bit of a dense momemnt
yAY! CAUGHT THE HAMSTER!
congrats, that can be a challenge!
why did the hamster leave?
He was under the bed, in between a sock and a crisp packet
very rodent-like of it :)
Oh dear my friends snake got loose yesturday
blasted son didnt shut the cage properly would be my guess, though he is an escape artist
oh heck, that would worry me lol
Get a clip lid cage? Yes that worried her too. More of a worry if the 7 foot (or is that meters what ever is smaller) carpet python got out
done. now must off and try to finish the emails. Pleasant day/evening to all of yall.
Later dc
bye dc
bye {poof}
st7 anyone?
I am thinking of going to bed
st, then a medical condition which can come in umbilical form in babies, minus r.
ah - is it late there?
wow - would never have got that - TY!
no its 900pm but daylight savings has stuffed me up
oh. yes, wish they would leave it be
You wouldn't say that if you lived in the north of Scotland - little enough daylight hours in the winter time.
I dont mind which way round they leave it - wish they would just leave it. Im either hauling kids out of bed, or chasing them back into bed lol
I have just eaten so i cant go to bed and i really need to read my study book but its annoying the heck out of me. It needs to be labeled 'How to work in confidentiality for dolts.
Poor Grana
I remember when they did decide to leave it be one year. It was horrible!
ah well, Im in the midlands, so I wouldnt know. Only get to the highlands in glorious summer - amazing place
chuck the book out the window herin and snuggle under a duvet
It is beautiful in the highlands. We're not nearly that far north, but my abiding memory of the experiment was walking to school in the dark for what seemed like months.
Morning all. Haz, I remember that, too. It was horrible!
I'm glad I'm not the only one, Jacula! I think it was a Harold Wilson idea, but I may be wrong.
Seriously how did people know what time it was before clocks? People went on seasons and the moon. We are celebrating Samhein (Beltane here)tomorrow night
Hi Jac
It probably was, Haz. I remember the constant night, like you do.
I also remember the public service announcements and the sudden appearance of fluorescent strips and things.
Or snuggle next to the boy and play the nitendo and not tell him ' I dont want' to in my sleep like last night. Hornets were chasing e
we have beltane at the start of may here
Jacula, do you remember the change over to decimal coinage? The jingle was 'Use your old coppers in sixpenny lots'
youve been eating cheese at bedtime again herein
Thats right its your spring our winter
Haz - I do! I still have the conversion chart they gave us.
No Grana i was discomoded last night. Cheese was the other night
(In fact, I still convert back sometimes! "Ten bob for that??" LOL)
It would be amazing now to see what old pennies could buy you. Everything has inflated so much in price.
I know! Look at the price of stamps - that could have paid a postman's wages for a week in the good old days.
I remember feeling rich when my Godparents gave me a birthday card that was a sixpence tree. They'd filled it and the total was 2/6 (Half a crown).
Another memory - saving stamps with toddler Princess Anne on them.
Ten shilling notes were good as well. They appeared at Christmas time from doting relatives.
...and those really long postage stamps with ships them. Nearly chocked yourself licking them.
You mean you didn't use the manky sponge in the post office?
*ships on them
Haz - yuck, no!
The thought of it!
LOL, choked not chocked.
I used to love getting parcels from England via Sea Mail
I'll type better when I finished this cuppa.;)
Chocking would be a nice combination of the shock of choking.
Okay, haz and jacula -- What is a "manky sponge"?
Oh sponge that is icky and gross -Manky
OMG *passes pension books, sensible slippers and cups of Ovaltine to the dear little biddies*
LMAO - tell us about the rations!
The manky sponge existed in every post-office. A container, a damp sponge with goodness knows what fluid to dampen it - you were supposed to use it instead of licking your stamps. Fat chance.
A piece of wet, dirty, ripped, ink-smeared, glue-sodden, sponge in a pot on which you were supposed to moisten your postage stamps.
Icky! Thanks .... carry on :)
they still have those in our post office
Lol FM dont forget the Bexs and a cuppa
'Morning, FM.:D
and they smell funny...
Well, funny you should say that, FMitch. Daughter is currently explaining about the war, rations, evacuations etc to her children in school.
bacteria breeding grounds - I reckon every six months they sell them to the germ warfare research people
LOL - granadan.
Oh Haz i have a fantastic book published in 1945 on the blitz i also have memories from my grannie
Ah we can blame Daughter then for this, er, reminiscence! Hi Jacs and all.
Six months? A sponge isn't considered beyond the pale here until it's done service for ten years.
cor, everyone on here brighten my mornings so much. Dont ever all go on holiday at once will you?
My mum got shoved in a draw in the Blitz she was a newborn, then they moved. My dad was in Wales (was about to type whales)
Girls, some of us are trying to eat our breakfast! LOL
She was explaining about rationing of clothes etc, gave them an exercise to use up their imaginary points on what they were allowed for the year. None of the boys bought underpants!
It's OK grandan, we signed a contract that says we can't all abandon ship at the same time.
Well, ch1212, we won't mention the old pubs with their sawdust strewn floors and spittoons then.;)
They wouldn't buy pyjamas either - said they would sleep in their boxers. They hadn't reached the bit about fuel rationing!
There is one store in the city that if you dont buy anything and want to use the loo you have to spend 'a penny' which is donated to the Children's Hospital.
OH! Thanks, Jacula :)
Haz just said a word!
LOL @ underpants. I pinned my 9 yr old up and told him he WAS going to put on clean underpants every day no matter what. On bathnight he was wearing four pairs - I never told him to take the dirty ones off *bangs head on wall*
Aaaaahhhhh.
granadan - LOL!
ROFL grandan!!!
She did? Off the the PB with you Mrs Haz.
LMAO granadan!!!
I'll be in the penalty box with my memories.
Tee, hee.
My friends boy was 'too tired to walk the dog' so she told him at tea time 'she was too tired to cook'
I'll leave some of my home-made chocolate fudge in there for you, Haz.
Sorry those are rationed too HAz.
Thank you Jacula. You can find out who your friends are, can't you?
LMAO herein
sod getting you out - if its kid proof Im coming in there with you!
Ugh cold coffee BRB
right, Ive got a thumping head and an hour before the little treasures come home, so Im going to put my head in a book. Catch up later all
Can i have the two letters for the U please
Bye Gran play with the puppies
Bye granadan - hope the head recovers before the treasures arrive home.
later granadan
We finally named him last night - Jigsaw, cos hes got a bit missing up top. Byeee *poof*
For the u, think of ties of friendship or bonds of marriage.
'Bye, granadan.
I could say think of combed over Arthur Scargill, but the name might not mean anything.
It did to me, Haz. T/y.
Some memories are best forgotten....

coolgirl told me of all the trolls that have come through on the babble was it really bad?
st5 - rearrange the letters of a metal that sounds like a thief.
it was bad pink
was worse than bad
it was more silly than bad- it was bad in the sense that there were lots of them and it took a long time of ignoring them to get rid of them... and they were a bit foul mouthed- more a nuisance and aggravating
Hello Haz.. How are you?? Thanks for the clue :)

( back by midnight) I have to turn around and go back to london for 9 am thurs...to help with physio thurs morning..transfering from wheelchair to my car
Montreal and Preethi thought about acupunture?
the docs are asking me to go thru joint replacement but they are not sure it will help much.. and its risky.. I dont wanna do it
never heard that on face
carlee, I know you're head down barreling through, as anyone would, but remember to stop the world and leave you off every once in awhile.
had acupuncture, electric-acupuncture, chiropractors et al... tried everything...
excellent news preethi..you are lucky in that... my husband had his jaw shattered 9 years ago..10 years ago... he has had "pins and needles" in his face ever since..it hurts to shave
dint help here either Herin.
i'd love to lori.... but... WHEN???????
Pree is this what they want to do?

i'm not so confident of the "tuck and roll" maneuver... and the train going a bit fast at the moment...

I am on vasograine, prothaiden and pain killers..
Pree if thats the pamphlet i read and they want to do that to you i dont blame you on the no side of things
{{{ lori p}}}} the ninja suit did good

pack it up carefully for the next one who needs it
Herin, i already went thru two surgeries and in one of them a facial nerve was damaged
Thanks Montreal.. I hope it works.. docs say with so much medicines Ill have early artheritis and lotsa other side effects.. Im hardly 23 and have a long way to go..
Good call carlee. I won't trust it to drycleaners though. I'll hand wash it myself before packing it.
My folks are very worried.. you know how it is..
Keep the faith Preethi.
Don't let Lori hand wash it. Someone else less dangerous...

HELLO.........8)
I have face issues i dont know how you do it PRee
G'd morning hodag!
Hi Hodag
tx BR - got the ST7...
Hiya Lorie, & lady...:)
sort of a crowbar grid
I have gotten used to it Herin.. I really dont wanna let this get to me.. I cannot afford to wither.. so focusing on doing things that I love to do.. My work keeps me busy and I travel a lot.. I cant eat eveything I want to but thats ok..
How ya' been hodag? I haven't seen ya' around much lately.
Good description BR
Its a me thing Pree i nearly slugged the dentist when he stuck his fingers near my face
I have been working with disabled children for the last 4 yrs.. trying to do what i can to make things easier for them
Uniquity, think I can relate to these facial injury conversations?
just keep going.....I believe god gives us tests of faith....I have mine....and u have yours... and it sounds like you are focussing where you need to for now
That takes someone very special to do that job Pree
bravo preethi
carlee knows. Churchill quote time again. "When you're going through hell, keep on going."
Thanks Herin, Montreal
all else fails churchill drink at the ready
That's very rewarding but draining work Preethi. Good for you.
good guote lori ... and so true...
quote even*
I kinda fixed the taps today
yeah Lori. I use my weekends.. its hectic given I work 14 hrs a day during the week but the sense of gratification you get when you see those kids happy.. nothing like it
montreal, I use it all the time. I love that quote, it means a lot to me.
I'm doing pretty good. I have been spending a lot of time at my daughters house taling care of my granddaughter because my daughter juet lost their second baby and she really had a rough time of it.
i live that quote lori so it does mean a lot to me as well..
Oh hodag. I didn't know that. I didn't intend to pry, and feel somewhat awkward and apologetic now. My condolences.
Pree it upsets me no end that cause a kid is high needs means they are stupid and dumb and that is so not true. My old friends brother was high end Autistic (high needs) and you mentioned retard and well youd get a smacking from him
Hodag....I'm sorry to hear that. My daughter lost 2 before she finally had Tyler...3 mo. old now
yay herin ... and i'm sure bbnaz would as well
OH HOdag im saddened by your daughters loss sometimes its not right but the little angel had his/her purpose here before they left.
Ty. The good thing is they can have more when th time is right.lol
1st ce 4 ?
You are so right Lady! ty
I had 3 miscarriages, yet I have 4 fabulous kids. The gods were kind to me, and what is meant to be is meant to be IMO
ce 4 is a plural dp
got it. its not in list!
Good things from my home to yours hodag.
Thanks all,now lets move on...........LOL
Phew! For a second, I thought you said "mow the lawn" :-)
i have 15 left sliding futher into couch
hehehe... I thought the same thing
It's 40 chilly degrees here. There will be no lawn mowing today!
There's rarely lawn mowing there anyway though, :)
It is so nice to know you have friends across the (pond) even though you will proubley never meet ......8)
yah
yawn
its bloody freezing here..was down below freezing here last night...
same here carlee, last 2 nights...
Did #1 say something? ***No, I didn't think so***
it is nice isn't it hodag......one of the few things that kept me going during my long nites of the last month..thinking....someone somewhere that I "know" might right now be thinking about me/ my situation..... and it warms your heart...of course.>i could have been completely delusional at the same time..but the end result was the same
un 5,12 anyone?
we are at 29 degrees now
un 5/6 is to unite and for a un***
got it
lori....#1 mentioned that there rarely is no lawn mowing around your parts anyway <wink>
you are so right kat..........:)
#1 should be studying or something.....
its fm's fault lori.... she's corrupted #1 <wink>
I think it is time to get with the game.....lol
#1 Is studying...and papering...and going nuts.
oh...scarlet mentioned how wonderful your kids are...
that should read..oh..lori...scarlet mentioned how wonderful your kids are...
good morning, Babble! lots of anagrams today.
Going nuts? Following in my footsteps then. :-)
G'd mornign Angel
Hi Anel
Angel sorry
oh...so the blame falls on lori's head..not fm's....hmmm interesting twist in babble land
hi angel
g'morninng Angel
g'morning Angel
hi Angel
G'd morning Nono. Didn't see you come in. :-)
hey there nono
hi nanette
yo.nono
been here lurking mostly lori
Good morning kattie, montreal, LoriP, Nono, Lady, hodag, Angel and Uniquity! :-)
Scarlet! G'd morning. Nice miracle by the Pack last night.....
good morning scarlet !
:-)
Hi Scarlet
I put a few more pictures of our house online. link is in my profile if you want to see them.
brb - need tea injection...
Absolutely astounding, Lor... another Wow in a season of WoWs!
hey Scarlet
The hub lost our bet on that game. heh heh heh
Hey, hodag. It is nippy in the mountains of North Carolina! Oops... sorry to hear that, Lori!
morning red...
nippy EVERYWHERE I think red.....
I am so waiting for the November 4th battle of the monoliths, Lori... Keep a good thought for New England.
anyone have an opinion about Long Road Out of Eden
Hi, there, kattie. Thank you for the re-send. :-)
Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! Go Pats go!
its down right cold here and as we know it will get a lot worse...........8)
november 4th? monoliths?
Like the Superbowl. Every game after that will be anti climax
now, I know this move is really going to happen. we've taken the family photos off the living room walls, and I've packed 80 percent of the things on my desk.
excellent Angel. I'm so glad for you, despite all the work involved. Enjoy!
Exactly! New England gets to battle Indianapolis in the battle of the unbeaten teams.
football? I presume?
How did you know, kattie! *snort*
( I'm a pittsburg fan... through and through...but... its all sentimental..I haven't watched them play in over a year )
Angel, you sound as though your feet are not even on the ground...
I just remembered last night, our wedding anniversary is November 4th. it will be our 9th.
< no pun intended of course >
Pittsburgh had some manners put on it last weekend, kat, but they are an outstanding team.
scarlet, I'm so far from the ground, I'm surprised I don't have a nosebleed....
goes back to the days of old style quarterbacks.... terry bradshaw, roger stauback,
LOL, Angel. I am so happy for your good fortune!
Kat... each team sort of develops its leadership, and the old-style never really went out of fashion, just a cleaner way of captaining the team.
scarlet, take a look at the photos...
Angel your house is going to be fabulous.
is it in a new community?
yes, it is a new community.
they....don't call the plays...they consult... i liked it when the coach trusted the quarteback to follow the game plan..not be lead through it step by step
in a really nice, small town setting, but still close enough to get to work.
sounds lovely angel...
Lovely house Angel
Sorry everone i have to sleep. Falling further down couch
There are some teams which don't even use the offensive coordinator and play callers from the booth... they do trust the Q-back... like Manning and mostly, Brady, who are the field generals.
nite nite herin... sweet dreams {{hug}}
nite nite Herin sleep well
i hope so. I just sleeping now
Happy anniversary ahead of time, Angel... this seems to be your time! All good, all at once!
Good night, Lady.
Sleep tight herin
sweet dreams herin
Well, I am off to start the day. Yuk. Good to see everyone again, and y'all have a great day!
bye bye Lori have a grat day
have a great one lori
How's that tea, montreal? So long LoriP... your children are just wonderful. You have done a great job!
I guess..when I have time... i will try watching again red.... i still prefer a football game live... then on tv ...but....
( see..lori... I DID tell you scarlet said your kids are wonderful)
Kat, you have been a bit "distracted" lately... I'm sure that sports is the last thing on your list...
tea fine scarlet - quite weak by some standards but fine by me
Is it helping you with this grid, mon ami? If tea helped me, I'd be making it by the pot!
well..its just that hockey takes up the time...actually when I visit hubby..in the evenings we curl up on his bed and watch the hockey games on tv...so..sports is on..just not your sports... the nurses let me stay past visiting hours as we are just sitting quietly not distubing anyone...
thank you, Scarlet. we've been working on the house project for the better part of the summer. We saw the model in late July, signed the contract the first week in August, and finished the mortgage paperwork the first week in October...now, we're watching the construction. We go out to the property once a week.
i DO make it by the pot !! - helps me keeping warm and not dry...
Oh, kat... I can SEE you doing that with your hubby... so sweet!
Morning All!!
good morning peri !
what is funny is all the others in the room ( this rehab its by wards.... no semi or private allowed ) have the same game on their tv's..and we are all grumbling or cheering in unison...all behind our curtains...
hi peri {{hug}}
Hello there, your Peri-ness! {{Hug}}
That's funny, kat... very funny!
so you must be a habs fan then carlee ?
thanks for the hugs :-)
Welcome!
you find humour everywhere... no....we cheer for toronto....
i knew it... grrr
Yes, I do, kat. Life can be brutal and if there is a quirk or a Twilight Zone moment, that appeals to my oh-so-serious mind!
looks like a hard grid, is it?
by default really... I used to be a manic oiler fan... and I also cheer for the rangers... only cause I think their coach is one of the best and has had a really raw deal by the those that govern the establishment called the NHL
yes peri... made it to 60 and i'm starting to think about lickety's...
am at 67 and stalled... completely
Well, peri... I've been "visiting", so I only have eight words... looks tough, though.
which coach was that carlee ?
just started and words are not popping out as they usually are, have 12 so far
ted nolan
am missing one f...... i have fe x 5 and fu x 5 what am i missing?
yessss - i agree with you completely - that was way below common decency...
Must make the beloved something hot and hearty... does last week's ham with some eggs and homefries fill the bill? The coffee is made, so it's to the kitchen for me for a bit!
( I used to cheer for montreal when....and now am having a brain fart... they had the coach that was the former cop.... I'd cheer for his team no matter what team he's coaching)
Pat Burns
cya later Scarlet
enjoy the cooking..hugs to beloved.....and you too of course red
:-)
what's really neat is that my daughter and her husband are buying a new house also...they've been living here since mid-August, and they are moving into their home the same time as we are moving.
later scarlet
thank you..pat burns... ted nolan..and pat burns..any team..anywhere
later scarlet..... oh and i'll be there soon for breakfast.... it does sound good
Babble...I'm a big Eagles fan but haven't heard any of Long Road Out of Eden. Have you heard it?
Pat Burns currently has his 15 minutes every morning on a french radio morning show... his comments are usually right on...
yes, really like it
the guy that is coaching toronto think could be a good coach but the management of toronto is holding his reins too tight... tornot spends the most on their line..and no matter who the hell their coach is..no one SHOOTS the bloody puck...
lol carlee...
completely frustrating..and management doesn't care..cus win or lose..the arena is full every night
brb
BR...is it all new or some of the old too?
we have the same problem here - arena always full so management doesn't seem to be motivated in improving the team...
all new
I'll check it out
1st rule of hockey..you can't score if you don't shoot.... and crap..2nd rule is...if the goalie deflects the first shot...u have your man out front to SHOOT the puck again on the rebound..none of this..pass..pass..pass... pass..oops lost the puck at the point..better chase it back down the ice....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
lol carlee...
Yay.... FIREWORKS
wtg Nanette !
and what the heck is this goalie flop business going on...every goalie these days goes down on the chot..so...YOU WHO!?!?!? shot high to the corner...it will sail past the glove
<POMPOM TWIRL> for nono...yippeee
<stepping off my hockey gripe soapbox now>
the only hockey worth a fraction of a moment of attention is the canadian women's national team. the nhl can nibble my bum. after the greedy stance taken by both the league and the players, they lost my lifelong loyalty to the sport.
you should see Kovalef... he turns and spins around players, dekes and re-spins and wil shoot only if there is no other options - he must have come from the Bolshoi !!!
lol Carlee....... I know absolutely nothing about hockey other than it is played on ice and they chase that little round puck all over the place
oh..i caught the final game in middle of the night rerun... wow..fab game..total domination..by mid of 2nd period..it was clear canada had so much depth... and usa was completely out of steam
then..why isn't he on toronto's line <BUStING GUT LAUGHING AT SELF >
i do like the Canadian women hockey team - year in year out, escellent hockey...
excellent even*
such talent...wasted it seems...
they actually care about the sport and play with the grit and intensity that the game is supposed to embody. totally boycot the men's "olympic" tripe.
ok i'm off everyone have a great day and happy babbling
fireworks for me.
mornin babblers!
i was watching I think it was game 3 of WS..and the announcer ( no idea who he was ) was talking about hockey... and that hands down...hockey players are the best conditioned athletes out there right now...I thought..wow...from some southern tv sports jockey even.... ( not to demeen southerners...its just..southerners typically are not interested in or not exposed to hockey......)
way to go angelsong!
agree with you bonk - but the root of this was that the other olympic hockey teams in the past were not really amateurs at all...
<POMPOM TOSS> for angel....
well done angel !
fair enough montreal13 but i'd rather see us lose with honour than win without it. the olympics has taken a high dive into the toilet of commerce. they sold their ideals for an endorsement and a picture on a happy meal. i really feel for theathletes in the non-marquee sports that really do fulfil the olympic ideal as it was meant to be. they've been double crossed.
i agree totally bonkler... i don't watch the mens hockey....or the mens basketball
hear hear bonk ! - the olympics have lost their appeal, in my eyes at least, for the reasons you stated
chiley, go here ... new album link is about half-way down: http://music.msn.com/music/cma2007/eag les?GT1=10491&

The Tile Stats indicate how many words there are to be found from each individual tile, Uniquity.

Great ollag! :-)
I found some completely weird words in the Fs.
do share
One is Bugs Bunny's shotgun totin' nemesis, spelled oddly, and pluralized.
i thought the j's were weird!!
Another is what I thought was a proper noun: film, cameras, Japanese Apple...
This GRID is weird, lilliann!! LOL
Hey guys, I think most of these words are weird

World-class champion on the board game, lil
At one time... he's gone a bit 'round the bend since those days...

Welcome, pab, and good morning!
morning Scarlet
hi pabtrek
Pab, when did you start using an icon? It's nice to see you!!
couple weeks ago I decided to finally go pro
it's good to be seen :)
I could use help on the je's
st7 please
je5 like the man on the cross but replace s with another letter and singular for the 4
je + **man race, then plural
st +plus female chicken and 2 vowels on end
Gosh, from your bio, pabtrek, it sounds as though you might be from my beloved's old stomping grounds of Binghamton and Vestal! Small world!
I got religion thanks for that one lillian
yw ruru
Thanks Lil, finished less than 25 mins with the exception of the st7, fiarly straight forward
***fairly***
wtg bubba!
Bubba, are you a medical doctor?
Yes
You had mentioned yesterday that you had to see patients.. I wondered whether it was human or animal... now I know. Family is a long line of medicos...
i'm about 75 miles nnw of binghamton, scarlet
It IS a small world, pabtrek... Beloved likes to go to a retreat in that area.
yes it is a small world, and seems to get smaller everyday
Especially in here, pab... look at the international concentric circles of friendships we have developed...
that is so true Scarlet
I still have 31 words to squeeze out of this unyielding grid... I'm hopping back and forth to switch out the laundry...
hints for the U words? or the S directly next to the U? or the N directly above the U?
my hubby and i would love to come to the US one day and get a winniebago and travel around.
It IS a small world--I was once in a cab in Manhattan and the driver had dated a girl from my mom's little town in Tennessee!
un5 & 6: marriages.
Sorry, Scarlet, had a phone call come in, will be bakc soon
un, join one of these st work
thanks judi -- toss the fish at me!
Un5 and un6 "Look for the un*** label"
lilliann used a word! :-)
ohh,i did that earlier with clue aswell, sorry i forgot but mom was happy!!!
Wow, Une... funny story along those lines, too. I was on a jet to South America. My seatmate was talking about going to Brazil for a fishing trip, but the best stream she had ever fished was the Brodhead's Creek, outside of Stroudsburg, PA... where I grew up@!!
Okay, bubba.
infact its 2 words!
that's amazing, scarlet! :-)
i have to go now,see you all later.have fun!!
bye, lilliann!
i was just watching some Halloween show on either Discovery Channel or TLC and they were featuring some guy in hollywood who does monster makeup and they talked about his wife, who was a girl i went to school with back in elementary school! as soon as they said her name, i jumped up and shouted! heh
Later, lilliann... good seeing you!
eva, OMG!
Wowza, Eva... we all have Twilight Zone Six Degrees of Separation stories!
and you scarlet.take care all.
i tried to pull our my yearbook to show the BF< but i think theyre still boxed up somewhere from the move...heh
so, hints for the S next to the U or the N above the U?
My only claim to fame is when Rod Steiger spilled an entire glass of red wine on my whiter than white suit in a restaurant in the Village... back in the day!
I'll never forget opening up Time magazine a few years ago and seeing an article re Claudia Kennedy, a very quiet petite young woman I went to college with--she's the first and only woman Lieutenant General in the US Army--go figure!! LOL
SU is bubbles; then the bid day star with an extra consonant on the end, then plural, then the regular spelling.
my mom once got cursed out by Richard Pryor during one of his shows...heh
Holey Moleys, Une... thjat
why??
that's a good story!
i know, Scarlet, it's still unbelievable to me~!
Then the *big* star...
she was sitting at a table in the front row...the stage was only a few inches above floor level + she was resting her feet on the stage. a while into the show, he walks over to her and asks if shes in the show. of course, she says No, and then he says, "well, get your GD feet of my Fing stage!" (since pryor was known for his harsh language, it was a fun experience for her....heh)
my best "celebrity moments" have been in restaurants and at stage doors in NYC :-)
le 5/12 ...the secons one?
that's, incredible, Eva!!
le + not a girl
ok, hows about the N above the U?
LE + a common article
Likewise, Une... like the time we saw the deathly white Andy Warhol... he looked like a ghost...
ne4 ne + not pa
that is the first le 5 I need thesecond
thanks une! at least i have a word from each tile now. :)
I even got a hug from Edie Falco last year!
le + *** rain in spain...
ooh, theres an 8? hints for that?
plural of ma7/40
damn I thought I already tried that thank you
which would help if i had the MA7...heh... *totters off to work on that*
ma7 is male + deceased newsman **** Huntley
Wow! Done and I only had to look at Lickety's clues for one word (th5/24).
Why was Edie Falco hugging on you, Une?
thanks!
Way to go, Judi!!
I had just seen her in "'Night, Mother" and I told her I adored her in everything I'd ever seen her in AND that she had made me bawl in the play we'd just seen
(with my daughter)
back, all!
TO!
hey, TO and congrats, Judi!
No wonder, then, Une. It must be gratifying for an artist to hear SINCERE words of appreciation for their work!
I'm kind of laughing at the celebrity stories. I had George Clooney captive under my stairs until he escaped. I blame FM.
Oh, Haz... you wish.
Yeah, right, Haz... the Old George Clooney Chronicles!!
Haz LOL
so une.....is my new jersey accent as deep as edie's sopranos one?
Oh ye of little faith.
Oh ye of fictional Clooney.
TO, I don't even know her "real" accent!
hi haz
Off to lunch and other things of import.
Hello TO!
off to take the dogs out--they've been VERY patient!
OTHER things of import? Where are your priorities, Judi?
I'm just back from a walk with Spangle. Wet, happy dog. Warm owner.
fireworks thanks for the clues lillian and Scarlet and une
Well done, ruru... and you are welcome!
Boy there have been some very wierd words in the last week.
I like the weird ones, ruru.
bbl off to work I go . hi ho hi ho...
st7,32?
Later, little dwarf!
Here comes a weird one!
ST+ when a muscle is strained, it's a **r***
And the asterisks don't stand for aargh.
ST+ egg layer + T** Maria ... alcohol
Hahahhaha, Haz...
site is acting up for me
thanks red
You're welcome, deb.
te 7,32?
good morning! i went to print out the list using babbler's anonymous but it looks odd. it says there are 2 af's and a is nowhere near f in this grid...any ideas anyone?
Could I have a clue for the ma7,40 (second one) please?
a male person who works in TV, bf
triple, is it possible that Bj's list hasn't been updated?
Hi Scarlet, temple, Uni, deb, triple, bf and anyone I've missed. Just dropping in for second time today. Only have 47 words so far.
Hudra - I went from 9 to 83 my second time around. Focus is key!
ma7 - the second, moves the last letter along one in the alphabet compared to the first.
i'm thinking it looks like yesterday's...that's probably it...could somebody please let m eknow of another source for a list? many thanks!
hello hydra!
Thanks Uni. I'll bear that in mind!
Thanks haz! Tought i had tried it, obviously not.
triple, if you click on Lickety's babble clues, under Friends of Babble you'll find a list.
You're welcome, Uniquity.
oh dear, the site ist running so slowly it still has not opened my word list. i think i must postpone my babbling till later. bye all!
A pity, TO - bye for now!
Bye TO, have a good one!
thanks, haz! i've never used that before! that's a big help!
I can't do without it, triple. I try not to use it, then give in when I'm stuck.
It is, triple, I agree.
Lickety's List/Babble Expert are the only reason I manage to complete grids.
*plonks down in a comfy chair* Had enough of today and am going to babble away. Afternoon all.
Hello everyone
Good afternoon FM and Becca
Hi FMitch and Becca
Hello FMitch - that's the attitude we like to hear. I'm a babbler and I'm going to babble!
Nice icon Hydra!
And hello Becca.
Hello hydra, Uniquity et al Hi Haz :)
FMitch - Lizsark survived the visitors, she dropped in briefly earlier.
Baah! My copier has decided to give up for the day. Must want to babble like you FMitch!
lol Becca Glad liz survived the Visitors intact.
Hello, hydra, Becca and FMitch!
So... what sort of grid is it today?
I still think we could blackmail her about preferring us to her brother. There's got to be mileage in that one.
Oddball, FM.
HI Scarlet.
Weird words today FMitch
The grid today (using my weather forecaster's voice) is gentle in places but liable to sudden storms.
And as for the babblers...
Baah Again! I can't even resort to scanning and printing becasue my scanner cable has 'mysteriously' disappeared
Could I have a clue for the he5,14 and 6,24? Last words...
he5,14?
With a chane of a depression late in the day.
he+ opposite of max
he5/14 - he plus the start of Mickey's girlfriend
And plural for he6/24.
WOOHOO! Done :)
And we're talking Rodent, not Rooney.
ty
Well I shall give it a go none the less and if it gets antsy I will beat it up!¬
Congratulations, Uniquity!! Well done!
feud
sorry!!!
deb...
It's definitely doable, FMitch and we can always spell the words out for you if you get stuck. (Getting my circles, hoops and snakes in order)
Congrats Uniquity!!!
Don't forget your curves and crooks, Haz.
Congratulations on finishing Uniquity - you're making a habit of this!
fireworks. thanks for all the help guys!!
Hooray Deb!!!
yay deb!
Did anyone see the log soon after the flip when Jai went mad entereing grid words into the log! So funny.
yay uniq!
Wow! Congratulations to you, too, deb!!
Crooks? Don't tell me I have to learn more terminology?
Well done deb.
Haz is not a crook!
Afraid so, Haz... and the curly vowel, which, it turns out, is an "S"... urf!
Well, now that I know all kinds of new words, I am going to work on my paper some. Congrats Deb! Enjoy the grid to all who are left, and the day to those who have finished.
Thank you, Vicuna. Innocent until proven guilty.
better go do some work. see you all tomorrow
bye uniquity, bye deb
How can s be a curly vowel?
Goodbye, Uniquity!
Good question
hi babblers everywhere ! back with 32 left...
Exactly, Haz... but that was a clue long ago.
Good morning all. Some weird words for sure today. Stuck at 5. Anyone please help el5,12 he5 14 , he6 24 , le5 12, ma6 27. Just can't see a thing at this point..
Same way O is a round consonant, I guess.
Hello montreal.
montreal... all braced with another pot of tea?
LOL, Vicuna...
he5/14 and he6/24 were clued just a minute or two ago.
HI Montreal and NUrse
lol vi ! - no scarlet, just finished the entire pot !
el5/12 - e plus three letters of a yellow citrus fruit, finish with a vowel. A vowel!
Then have at it, montreal!
A real vowel, no doubt!
le5/12 - looks like a franglais version of The homme. Le plus a male.
... and I bet you ate all the cookies too monty :(
tx scarlet - i should be "pumped up" enough to tackle the remaining words...
ma6/27 - Mr Guevara tacked on the end of a male.
lol FM - but no, I don't touch cookies...
LOL, montreal. *Passing platter of fresh oatmeal/raisin cookies to FM*
ma6/27 being the singular version of the first ma7/40.
Oooh they sound scrummy Scarlet, thank you.
"... tempted... but resisting..."
They are spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg, montreal...
buttery... still slightly warm...
scarlet stop ! - you are leading me to the road to hell...
Scarlet, you should be in advertising.
Good for you monty but occasional sweet treats are allowed. Sounds like a recipe I have been trying to find for the last couple of weeks...
sooooooooo good with a hot cuppa Chai...
That's me, montreal... why do you think they call me "Scarlet"? LOL
i swore off desserts many moons ago... except for birthdays and special occasions
I was, Haz. I hated being a "word-whore" pushing products in which I had no belief. I ran for my life and found my dignity.
ahhh the temptress ?
Careful, Scarlet, or you'll get FMitch calling you something akin to sultry...
am5 12. last one. ty Haz and others who helped. Now maybe I can get something else done today
Good afternoon folks -- how's the grid today?
What could be more special an occasion than any occasion with fresh-baked cookies?
hi TS - strange words today...
LOL, Haz.
am5/12 - two versions end in a vowel, one is a plural.
Hi, Takuma Sato... a brain cruncher, but fun!
am 5 12 - the first one .
lol vic, but not an occasion "enough"...
Exactly what my husband says, Vicuna!
Hello Takuma - it is interesting today. Interesting that some words you've never encountered before, nevertheless exist.
this puzzle seems like a repeat. does it look familiar to anyone else?
cool -- I like the tough ones, as long as the toughness is not solely the result of babblets
Shhhh Haz, I'm being good and virtuous today and concentrating on the grid.
I do beg your pardon, am5/12 - a plus what the foremost attraction would be called.
heh, haz, sounds like the kind of tough that approaches frustrating ;)
nurse, my 1st am5/12 is a + **** street
It's a suspension of disbelief kind of grid at times.
FMitch is being good? That'll be a first....
Tsk!!
not familiar to me anyway trueheart...
No, trueheart... do you have another day's grid up?
Can you imagine I missed that first one. I guess the old brain has just given up by now. Thanks to all. finally fireworks and glad to see them. Nice chatting with you all.
FM virtuous ????
no, it just seems very familiar
Well done nurse!
ah well. it's nicer, imo, to be able to get and give semantic clues than spelling ones, but I'll dive in anyway ;)
I know, montreal, kind of beggars belief, doesn't it?
wtg nurse !
Well done, nurse!!
congrats, nurse
Don't you start monty, Im in a "take no prisoners" mood today
absolutely haz... incredible !!!!!
You mean you reject our hoops, our snakes, our chairs, Takuma?
phantom sleuth and hi all!
Speaking of taking no prisoners, George has done a runner, FM. I blame you, of course.
hi gwen
Hello BDG.
All right, FM, I think montreal deserves to be not taken prisoner. Let's see it!
need another slave Haz ??
heh, when I need a clue, I'll take anything I can get
Ah now that wasn't my fault - Zen was the one to gain most by George disappearing....
LOL greetings Vi :)
George was useless as a slave. He kept talking about insurance restrictions.
ty all. Have a good day everyone. Gorgeous weather here today - should really work in the yard instead of housework
well yesterday, it was all FM's fault...
It is interesting how the clues have developed, though -- way back when the game started with chat, the clues were almost always definitional
Is Haz paying you monty?
believe me, insurance would be the last thing on my mind...lol
for crazy words, people offered verbatim definitions, so the word could be googled if one wanted
Nowadays, Takuma, everyone seems to have an expectation of the right to finish, and clues must be provided that make that possible.
I think the majority prefer the thinking clues, TS
no money has reached my hands FM...
I'm with you on a prefernece for clues that make you think... at least a little!
I had forgotten the "chairs" Haz...
Yesm Takuma, babble is continuously evolving and changing, not always for the better.
I'm happy with definitions, anagrams, opposites, soundalikes. Just don't spell things out.
Oh, gosh, FM... what do you mean?
i agree with you scarlet... none of the 1st vowel + 3rd cons. stufff.
I didn't think I was alone in the preference, heh. some of the spelling clues are very creative -- yours are great, for instance, haz
The chairs are for the snakes and hoops to rest against.
Thank you Takuma - I'm flattered.
Unless someone is really blindsided by a word, then it is merciful to lead them...
And the hook letters are for fishing them back up again when they try to drwon themselves.
Or drwon. Whatever.
Do any of you guys remember early on when chat was up and almost no one used it
D-R-O-W-N
Aaargh!
We're not nearly as old as you, Takuma.
we're on the same wavelengths scarlet
I do, chat was really only for calling the big ones and the occasional hello
I think so, montreal.
lol haz - i dont remeber either takuma...
hrm
I dunno, Takuma, I've been on longer than you, and I remember much banter about hottubs and champers right from the start.
Yes, FMitch is really old as well.
I personally enjoy the international tone of chat... I learn wonderful words and expressions nearly every day...
lol -- guess I had that coming, sounding like a greybeard
hot tubs !
can we see our start dates?
champers and hottubs? (wonders if she's in the right chatroom)
Yes, it's in the profile.
My original username is Egregious Jones -- but I gave that to my mom for Christmas
Yup Im really really ancient but Haz is older than me Ha Ha
Oh, so maybe you have been on longer than me!
lol
I thought I was the resident ancient one...
Not insofar as Babble longevity, though.
I remember Egregious Jones - not the easiest to type!
*Ahem, clears throat* It was I that suggested to Dr_G that he add the start date field to profiles when this site was in beta testing.
Round of applause for FMitch.
the resident ancient one? Not even close Scarlet!!
Look out for that envelope from Buckingham Palace.
April 2004 - wow, you are ancient, Takuma!
bring out the champers for FM !!
Yay for FM!
Some of us still give definitional clues.
Throw her in the hot tub!
Oh sorry came in in the middle. Though we were talking about what mu husband used to call anni domino!!
MBE for FMitch - for services to Babble. I can see it all.
Ignores Haz but not before sticking tongue out in her general direction LOL love the hot tub but it was always full of custard!
sone
I think we had both ideas of ancient running simultaneously, deeha.
brb
I'll just hotfoot it to the post box and retrieve that letter to the Queen....
and MrP suggested the fireworks inset as before then there was nothing
it must be our age Vicuna!!
howdy folks!
Egregious! Are you really Takuma this time?
LOL how could one forget that icon!
This is the same person as takuma -- yep
Hello all - looking back at chat and must say "jan" is seriously babblancient
Well. looky here, Mr Jones has appeared!
Just wanted to check the start date. Feels a lot longer than 3 and a half years!
LOL, Deeha... I WAS talking about ages... there are such young'uns here...
back to takuma -- don't want to sow confusion
When was Babble first launched?
No, don't be like mousey and goldies. You got dizzy trying to work out who was who.
I don't think I ever knew, vic
September 30th 2003
I seem to recall playing before there was paying
Oh, wow. So who's the oldest member?
Even I played before the whole pro thing came up, though.
Impressive, FMitch. You could take 'Babble' as your specialist subject on Mastermind.
Takuma... was the Jean Paul Belmondo (sp?) in your Egregious Jones' pix?
*that*
yep, scarlet
What a guy!
hi again everyone!
I do't know Vi but on the day it launched there were 7 players and one of those was Dr_G
granadan - hello again!
heh, I think that pic of him smoking in his girlfriend's bathrobe about sums up his character in the movie
Hmm... I wonder if any of the other 6 are still playing.
cor - you still 'ere?
I don't recognise the names but you can take a look by going back to the archives
I have had conflicting thoughts, FM... I want Babble to be highly successful, yet, if it were to make a big splash, we might be crowded away from an intimate sort of chat... I make myself crazy sometimes! LOL
I'm back to unashamedly beg for clues. 14 to go and himself due home from work in an hour or so - Im banned from babbling when he is home LOL
Oh, of course. Well, if you don't recognize them then I don't suppose I would either.
Hi, there, granadan!\
Anyone know what DrG's doing now? when Babble started, I think he was in law school
I have been away and returned!
Scarlet I fe**/feel the same way
ch 5/16 anyone?
I think babble was mentioned either in some very popular blog or a USA Today article a couple years ago, yielding a flood of new players
Checking on George's cubbyhole, Haz?
It's like holiday destinations. Keep all the other tourists away except you.
There was a big flood of us that came in when I did (my husband saw the article) and another big flood maybe another year after that.
Right, Haz!
No - it was telling granadan that I haven't sat here the WHOLE time since last we spoke this morning.
It was in an MSN blog Takumo or at least I remember one particularly large influx of youngesters that came from that.
(I was one of the new players nearly two years ago...) *returns to lurk mode*
ch5/16 - ch plus definite article mixed up.

Hi, Deutsch... haven't seen you in some time! Welcome back.
el5/12 - e plus an anagram of the land measurement, 26 of them in a marathon.

bye stid
bye stiddy
And curly vowels...
ch 5/16?
(That's meant to be Auntie but I am having so much trouble typing today.)

Thanks for the hug, stid and thanks for the welcome.
Time for me to go -- seminar's about to start. Good luck all!
CH5/16 is Bobby Fisher playing with a lisp
thanks everyone, I meant
bye TS
Bye, Takuma, you oldster, you!
ch5/16 - clued earlier as how someone with a lisp would pronounce a board game.
So long, TS.
i saw that clue before and it didn't work for me :(
ch5 so?
Look back, granadan.
Much higher level game than checkers, triple
thinks knights and rooks Triplebock
ch plus definite article rearranged.
i know the game, but apparently i am not good with lisps
Bithop taketh rook in four moveth...
Haz to the rescue.
LOL
thanks haz! i just am not good with lisps...you should have heard me trying to say it!
LOL, Vicuna... brilliant!
sorry haz, slip of typing finger - meant ch 20
You're welcome. I love imagining people doing all sorts of things to try to get a clue.
I am shameless - Ill do anything for a clue when stuck LOL
ch5/20 - a plural of the cooking ch4/9
the people in my office thought i was using my crest whitestrips again LOL
Good thing you don't have a camera in MY office, Haz.
Hahhahahhaa, triple.
oh dear.... more fish please.
I love it. Lithping in public.
I see you, Scarlet, that tiara looks great.
It must be hard babbling in an open office when something v funny is said in the log
My aunt once told me she thought a lisp was sexy on women. ?!?
he 6 24 anyone?
he6/24 - have a serving of the plural fish again. (he5/14 plural_
You DO see me... Thank you, Haz... I AM getting weary of emeralds, though.
Have you noticed how many boxers have lisps? Mike Tyson for one...
ah - I dont have the five either
Scarlet rubies and diamonds are more your look
Oh, well I guess that explains the pink perals on the tutu then, Scarlet.
Mike Tyson is a moron.
PEARLS!
he5 - he plus the start of cartoon Mickey's girlfriend
Haz, he has kinda a high voice, too
Oh, dellightful suggestion, FM... I shall make a tradein straightaway!
Yay Vicuna has the typing bug today and not me!!
Oh, Vicuna... Haz is sharing her spyware with you, too?
he likes to chew on ears, too, odd man...
I know. But you wouldn't mock either his voice or his lisp, would you?
TY Haz
Thanks a lot, FM. =P
no, not to his face! he he
Mike Tyson is the ultimate 'What I wouldn't want to see in a man.'
No, I wouldn't. I like my ears just the way they are.
I would not waste on word on that rapist, thug, Piltdown man!
Mr Eubank has that squeaky voice too
Exactly, granadan - I was thinking of him as well. He's not quite as thuggish though.
Scarlet, I like the Piltdown man reference
hes a right affected wurzel IMO
Is he a hoax, too? lol
LOL grandan, but so true
LOL, Deutsch... yes, Vicuna!
LMAO - ma 6, 27?
A boxer with a lisp, a cane, a high voice, a monocle and a tweed suit. You couldn't make Eubank up.
silver topped cane dont forget
ma6/27 _ Don Quixote is the Man of La ----- with a different final letter
ma6/27 - what the French call the channel. Take a male and introduce him to Mr Guevara. Or take a male and introduce him to beginnings of dairy product, moon style.
I must Google this apparition, Haz.
3 piece tweed suit
Prepare yourself, Scarlet.
strap yourse;f down first scarlet - or youll laugh right out of your chair.
What is his first name, Haz?
Haz, Im off to google the channel lol
Chris. Or Chrith, as he would say.
Okay, gran and Haz... I am ready. LOL
Haz, can you hear the laughter I can
I've just checked - he looks fetching in a yellow waistcoat in one....
You need to hear him talking for full effect, though. Must see if he's on Youtube or something.
Last one - clue for th 5/24?
Christopher Livingstone Eubank(s)... born 1966 and stopped the stars in their paths... wow!
try this pic... http://www.caricaturists-london.co.uk/ images/ChrisEubank%20web%20ds.jpg
I saw that one, Haz. He's quite dapper!
he is also prone to little squeaky tantrums on live TV
My, he was a bit of a problem in elementary and secondary schools wasn't he?
Google Chris Eubank interview - he'th on Youtube.
He'th talking about infringement of thivil libertieth.
Jodphurs, bowler AND riding boots... and the monocle... what a creation!
ROFL
th7/24 - th, a vowel, first two letters of the country where mount fu4/13 is situated
Told you!
le 4/5? i bet it's an easy one...
the first le 4/5, sorry...
he ith jutht wonderful isthnt he. Oh Im sorry, its not fair, Im sure he is smashing and I loved him till he started to throw his toys out of the pram in public
le plus Mrs Clintons first initials. (first name, maiden name)
thx!
You're welcome, triple.
What does that word mean?
It's an oven used to anneal glass.
some sort of oven...
was hoping the le 5/12 after that was going to build off of it :( any ideas?
If you click on the ? beside a word it gives a definition - except for those where the dictionary people went on strike.
ah, thanks. This reminds me of playing scrabble against my granddad, who knew all these obscure words
le5/12 - structured the same as a yellow citrus fruit, save for one vowel. Ends in a masculine way.
NM, i just got le 5/12!
thx anyway, haz!
No problem!
I still cant get this ma6, 27 Haz
Hi Sheenah :)
i only have one left, if you can believe it's he 4/6. i get everything else and miss the 4 letter words!

It's okay Mark. We all know that feeling!
ma7? Hang in there Mark
or should i say "thankth"?
lol
I'm worried about Scarlet. Has she been bowled over by Chris Eubank's charms?
hey triple, was leading you astray last week - my icon is called fleurdelys - the Quebec flag is the fleurdelysée
ma7 - first is a plural, second moves the last letter one along in the alphabet.
we did warn her to strap down, so we arent liable
hey montreal! if you can believe even our football team has it on their jerseys! they are not very good but i still cheer for them!
That's true, granadan. No responsibilty here at all.
u said it was the symbol of your town - which town is that ?
TY Haz. ma*? I had hoped it was aplural of that other 7 lol
new orleans, louisiana...
How about another theme each day - clues to be given in a certain style? For example: In txt spk As Shakespeare would have asked. In the style of Eubanks ... ... etc etc *big grin*
oh please no text speak.
I give clues in text speak for no-one!
ahhh yesss Triple - now i understand ! - Louisianna was of course, a french possession until Napoléon sold it to the US...
ma8 anyone?
Thanks Haz, your ma 7 clues just now penetrated my thick skull.
lol, I was only joking
dont have it yet grana
or te7?
ma8 is plural of ma7/40 (the second). ma7/40 the second is the same as the first, save for the last letter which moves one along in the alphabet.
See you all maybe later!
that's correct, montreal...
Oh heck MORE fish., Sorry Haz.....
Bye Deutsch, see you again soon
later deutsch !
te7 - four letters of the Bell invention, three letters of a male.
Bye Deutsch, nice to see you again.

Well done granadan!
Congrats granadan
wtg granadan !
congrats!!!!!
i guess i better get back to work, i have a large billing to get out! bye everyone and thanks for the help!
I'd better take ten minutes to get some food underway. If Scarlet doesn't appear soon, I think a search party is in order.
Bye triple - back shortly...
I reckon scarlet has been bowled over by Mr E and is off hunting for his fan club.
enjoy your supper!
bye triple !
give spangle a treat for me!
bye montreal!
bye triple. I reckon scarlet has fallen for Mr E and is off looking for his fan club site
Will do. And is an intervention appropriate if Scarlet has gone down the Eubank path?
i missed the discussion about who was the most ancient babbler - was it determined who it was ?
possibly appropraite, but ... erm.... after you dear!
Haz, hurry back!!!
must be wearing by "invisibility cloak" by mistake...
are we talking age here mtl? or longevity with the game?
i think it was game longevity nan...

the bottom s? su4/5?
sorry ( I'm new) the s in the corner
I have yet to figure out what all these numbers mean
we work by the first two letters, pink hat (or how do you want to be addressed?)
ok
there is a st5/10. Is that the one you want?
um...I am not sure what the first two letters are so...
je411 ?
the first number is how many letters in the word, the 2nd is how many points
je4/11 is a driver who "drives furiously", named after a Bible character
Pink, let me introduce you to licketySplitAUS. :) You'll find a link for his site down at the bottom of the page, under friends of Babble, top of middle column. His page is INVALUABLE!!!! :)

Congratulations aknitter on fireworks! Good for you!
Anyway, ak. What was the video about?
(Hi, Min.)
Hello Jacula! How are you? Still trying to get that st7.
Hope my clue helps you, Min.
it is the video about the women who wrote the song using all those things your mother always said to you as a kid
it is a 2 tissue laugh
I am done! Thank you Jacula for cluing the last word!
I'm v. happy tonight, Min. My son (23) just told me he's found a girl he likes at last! He's off to Holland (where she lives) to meet her (and her parents) at the weekend. They (he and she) met playing WoW.
Well done, Min!
jac google the william tell overture for moms
(Met on-line, I mean.)

hey jac, i think you'll like this... http://www.pizdaus.com/pics/pptiK2y7Wt ah.jpg
The Great Leigh - LOL. I met my partner (not my kids' Dad) online.
my mother always used to say because i told you so. swore i'd NEVER say that then one day ..... it just came out, filled a need
Hi nut. I'll check it out.
anyone have the first he5 and he6 ???
Oh heck, nut!8-/
NEVERMIND!!! I just got it
scary eh?
not she + ***veryork
VERY SCARY, nut.
ak - it happens! Ever caught yourself unawares in a mirror or a shop window, ak, and wondered what your Mum was doing there?
That's even scarier than the pic nut just showed me... well, almost.
now that could not happen as she is about 6 inches taller than i am with red hair (mine is black) i resemble my dad
ak - it's not so much the physical resemblance as a certain expression just caught unexpectedly.
i do find myself thinking like her now as i get older LOL
the first le 5,12
oh must go toss clothes in the dryer. catch you all later
oh i got it
NUTTTTTTTTIE you there?
Actually, my Mum made a confession to me a couple of weeks ago that has relieved me greatly. She used to moan like hell at my Dad when he mashed my soft-boiled eggs up with bread and butter for me, and she moaned like hell on the morning of my wedding when he stopped at the Co-Op and the way from bringing me back from having my hair done to buy doorstep-sized bread and thick sliced bacon and made us both bacon sandwiches too 'set us up for the day'. Out of the blue, she mentioned this, and said she had no idea WHY she'd made a fuss about it. Not sure if it was the menopause or jealously.
I was SO glad she told me this.
Hi, herin.
I'd say 'bye to AK but she won't hear me as her head's in the tumble dryer.
Amy - sorry! Glad you got the word anyway.
Just testing -- gone for the evening -- back much later
hi
Oh good, it worked.
Hi & 'Bye, jilli. xx
o am not here i was seeing if nutstar was about
Must be Hallowe'en! I'm seeing and talking to people who are not here. LOL.
Nut's around somewhere.
BOOO! Happy Halloween Eve!
Evening all. Clue for the st 7/32 anyone?
i am studying
crabbler
Hi Scrabbler even (dang keys stuck)
What are you studying?
WordsRock--I just started the grid, but I will look for you.
Hi jac (lol) -- I think you don't use BabbleExpert so will not get the video about motherhood -- will email it to you for a big chuckle. Off to dinner and a concert -- Markus Groh, pianist
hello
is it the william tell mom? someone just sent that to me
hi jane
that video is great!
Jilli - got the William Tell Mom video.
Hi, Harp.
I was just off looking for a sound file of Vincent Price laughing that I could link to. No luck so far.
hi jac, scrab
The st7 means an excess of strength. st + 'Not she' + US secret service with different first letter.
I don't watch the UK TV series 'Spooks' for nothing, you know! LOL.
th5/24 plz?
TY, Jac--I have not seen that word but I have seen a + st7
th5/24 is a type of evergreen pine-type tree. Its oil is used to get rid of verruccas (foot or plantar warts).
Glad you found it, Scrabbs.
oh, i sent that william tell mom in to lickety! scrabbler, both you and my dad sent it to me almost the same day i think.
th5/24 = th + text form of 'you' + German for 'yes'.
It is quite entertaining.
that doesn
whoops can I have a little more of a clue?
I worked from 8:30 - 8 today and although I need to go to bed, I need some fun time for the day.
Scrabbs - I didn't catch every word she sang in the video, but I guess that's the whole point.
sorry didn't see the second part of your clue jac
Scrabbs - yes, you need to wind down.
Got it now, praise?
te 7?
I just finished off a carton of Edy's Yogurt Blends---delicious frozen yogurt, especially because it is the chocolate fudge brownie flavor.
te7 might be the chap that comes to fix that box in your living room that you watch half the evening.
yeah ty jac
lol ty
y/w, Amy.
Well now, I didn't start and finish the carton in one sitting (although I probably could), but I scraped the bottom.
Naughty Scrabbs! *Cups ear... is that the sound of pounds piling on I hear?' LOL
ONLY KIDDING, Scrabbs. You know my stance on eating issues.
th 5, 24?
he4/6?
Scrabbs - I read about the Mum with brain cancer who's your patient the other day.... how are things there?
Amy - I just clued that.
he4/6 = if you get a little tense you might be all he* up... add a consonant at the end.
****stretch** That is the sound of my thighs expanding from eating frozen yogurt, Jacula.
LOL, Scrabbs. Hope they didn't squash Callie.
The Mum is my dear friend, and the mother of 3 for whom i am the pediatrician. Mary went home today and will receive brain radiation Monday-Friday for 6 wks, and also receive chemo.
Amy - 8:56 & 57 are the th5/24 clues.
Callie is sitting quietly behind me.
el 5,12
Scrabbs - is there ANY hope for her?
el5/12 = a type of massage oil. Start of pachyderm with a trunk (then a consonant, then 'not you' vowel).
ty
y/w, Amy.
There always is hope, whether from medical science or divine intervention. But, realistically, based on data of similar people with this diagnosis....bad prognosis. Other than a cure, we are hoping for as much happy, comfortable time at home with her family as possible. It is too unbearable to think of saying good-bye to Mary.
Brain radiation sounds awful, seeing as radiation to other parts knocks a body about so much.
Scrabbs - let's hope for a strong will to live and maybe a tad of Divine intervention also. xx
It has been nice to see her recover from pregnancy, labor, delivery then brain surgery. But now the real fight begins, and chemo and radiation will take tolls on her.
Scrabbs - I don't know why but I have a good feeling that she will get through all of this.
She's been so strong so far... I don't think she will give up now unless she's totally overcome.
I hope you are right. She is a special person with a strong will and expectation to live. Her husband and kids need her. She is a powerful life force.
Fingers crossed.
I hope she is one of those people that survive and recover against all odds.
As a lapsed CofE, who got prayers almost pushed down her throat a school every day with no explanation the a child of that age could understand, I would say I don't pray. But, I think I probably do without realising it many days.
What is CofE?
good evening all. can someone tell me the total points in this grid?
In my mind, praying to the sun. moon, earth, wind, sky etc., to nature, makes more sense. (That's pagan or wicca) and, like i've said before, I did send ex-hubby's pagan grandad to his rest that way, after he was given a Christian funeral and kicked up a fuss about it (in some relatives' homes).
my thought exactly. scrabs....
1147
106 words, I don't know the point total
Scrabbs - cofE = Church of England.

un words (one singular and one plural) relate to marriage or joining of countries, maybe?
WooT fireworks!
Hiya dawg and scrabbler!
whoooo hoooooo AMY
congrats Amyjv!
We in UK had a lot of trouble with the Workers' Un's back in the 70s.
We ended up with no gas, no electricity, no petrol, no bread, no fire service.... etc., etc. Maggie Thatcher sorted it out in the end. God bless her.
well, good night
good night, phandmd
night, phan
OK, now I am ready for bed. I passed halfway. Good night everyone.
Scrabbs, I snore but I'm not sure if I stop breathing whilst doing so. I know Other Half does and he also suffers from Bruxism (tooth grinding). I think we sshould both check into a sleep clinic one weekend.
good night, scrabbler!
'Night, Scrabbs.
night Scrabs
night Phan
goodnight, scrabbler.
*Rams earplugs in to shut out sound of the lovely Scrabb's slep noises.*
Is the the 1812 Overture, with cannons, that I hear now??
If so, I already have the copyright for the night version of that.

Everyone done with the grid now?
TO - st + 'not she' + US Secret Service with different 1st letter.
No, jac. I'm only about half way.
Hello, Nonnie.

Central Intelligence Agency.
hello, jac and ty to you and dawg for the st clue.
Like MI5 and MI6 & 7, it does not exist. LOL.

hey, peeps
hello tyger
Hello, tyger. How's Uni treating you?
so-so, how's by you, jac?
thanks, it's the little ones that are killing me!
hey, nonnie
harp - it happens to all of us!
ahhh, Robert Goulet died.
tyger - I'm v. happy right now. Thanks for asking.
ahhh, how old was he, dawg?
excellent!
Who is Rober Goulet?
73, nonnie
I'd a thought Goulet was older than that. He was a singer/musical actor, Jac
he was a singer
very handsome, loverly rich voice
I too thought he was older than that.
made a bunch of movies, many Broadway shows
Wikipedia is sure to have a substantial page on him
if it matters :)
has everybody finished the puzzle?
ty all for the help - i owe these pytros to you...
No, I'm still working the grid.
sing out, if you need clues :)
OK, thank you!
fu4/13
no prob. I had to get a clue yesterday

nite, TO
bye bye TO
sorry tyger, didn't quite understand the ch clue
night TO, i'm heading out also. sweet dreams everyone, see you tomorrow
niters dawg
take care, dawg
ch + the archaic verb ending for "continues to do/be" - see if that works
later, all!
nite, dawg
hiya ren!
He do*** all things well, B4
how is this booger tonight?
a newbie earlier today asked if a lot of the words were in another language :D
I'm struggling with it, ren.
banana4, did that clue help any?
hahahahahha tyger! if you are struggling nonnie - then i should give up!
lol, tyger!
No no, ren...don't! I struggle with the "easy" grids.
sorry tyger, no....with the first clue were you referring to the ch5/14 that is a trunk?
I didn't think it was so awful, but then I use all the helps - Lickety, the word lists, divine inspiration (when I can get some)
hi babblers
hello shdy
ch5/14, do you have that? if so, ch5/16 is the same except for the last letter, which is the next one in the alphabet after that last letter
hey shady! - howz school?
hey, shdy
I try to make it at least halfway without lickety.
hey nonnie, ren, school is good, have an exam tomorrow am, so am preparing by not preparing, how's life?
hi tyger
ah, ty for the ch clue, tyger
i'm trying that one, but it's not working for me....oh well, have a tv show on, bbl...ty for the help tyger
did that make any sense, B4? (is that an OK abbreviation of your nic?)
life is sweet sid...er i mean shdy!
nick is fine
bye bye banana
if not, how do you prefer to be called?
bye all
sid?
great! the shorter, the better :)
mi5?
Just bullied son into giving me a sliver of his cheese on toast supper. LOL
bye, B4
now'm i'm singing one banana two banana 3 banana 4...
what kind of cheese, jac?
wtg, jacs
oops
cheddar, tyger.
mi 5 is a math word, take away
mi5 is the opposite of add
sorta
sounds good, jac
I'm not overfond of
mistress!!!!!
oops - Cheddar (unless very mild), but I love cheese, in general
ROFL, ren
i love cheddar mistress.....grovel grovel....
my fav is Havarti
gouda
pretty fond of Muenster and Colby
but not smoked
blue cheese
mmmm...Muenster!
Well, it's the him having found a girl at last thing, isn't it, tyger? Until he tells his Dad and his sister (I HAVE resisted the urge to text to his sister) that's he's got a 'love interest', I have the upper hand. Won't last long. I took advantage of it. LOL.
ren, you love the aged ones, don'cha
go for it, jac :D
yes yes tyger! //P-/
Mature Cheddar for me! I like a sharp cheese.
shady, have you tried Havarti? It's a more delicate flavor than Muenster, but still not bland
mi5?
yes, tyger, i usually like it, occasionally too strong, depending on variety
synonym for subtract
mi 5 is math word, take away
mi5, harp is the opposite inmaths to 'add'.
thanks
aaah, cheddar, gouda, muenster, blue cheese, provolone, mozzarella, swiss, almost anything but goat, now that's heaven on earth :)
you like the ones with stuff added, shady?
i am one of very few people who really hates parmesan
hello all
yw, harp. with all of us ganging up, you had to get it :)
hi muse
hey, mymuse
hi tyg
hi shdy
usually no, tyger, although i've had a mustard seed gouda that is to die for
hey muse!
shdy - my Other Half hates Parmesan, too. He heaves when I put it over my lasagne or bolognese.
ren!! ren!! how are ya
Oh? it doesn't sound that great to me, but you never can tell without trying
Mind you, it does smell like sick.
aaaah, parmesano romano, a must for pasta
good muse! howz by you?
he must be related to me...I'm convinced it's genetic, to me it tastes like it smells
gouda doesn't appeal that much to me, usually hate mushy
toothpicks in the eyes, to finish the grid lol
and string cheese - uhmmmmmmmmmm
if it tasted to others like it tastes to me, it wouldn't be food item
havarti with dill in an omelet, hmmmmm goood
also my dad and 3 brothers hate it
hello babblers!
hi helen!
hi hk!
can't eat eggs, but I like most additives to havarti
hey, HK
i love cheese !
Hi, Hell on Earth. Was just thinking I hadn't seen you lately.
dill is a particularly good one
I like harvati better when it's melted
we're having an extended discussion of it, HK :)
No oeuf parmesan for tyger, then. LOL!
I like havarti just about any old way
nope, jac. It'd just come right back up
harvati melted on dark bread is soooooooo good
well, the grids have been small lately & i haven't been sticking around alot, but nice to see you all !
would it ever get down? lol
dill is great with fish.
hey helen!
when I was in 2nd grade, my teacher insisted I eat a boiled egg. about 5 minutes later, she got it on her shoes
oooh, thanks ren gave me something new to try lol
I don't care for dill with fish :(
good for you, i dislike insistence!
fresh dill on buttered potatoes - heaven :)
:) muse
fresh dill in homemade chicken soup
lol tyger, I couldn't eat eggs until I was in my 20's, smelled good but couldn't, wouldn't touch it
I love grilled chese on dark bread (lotsa butter on the bread, to "brown" it)
that sounds better, shady
Hell - the grids have been crappily small and the convo sometimes about those under brridge creatures that should not be ggiven the attention they crave. I've not been here much, either. Though house and garden jobs did also figure in that.
fresh dill in carrots is good too
I still can't. I tried egg custard when I was 18. It smelled heavenly, and tasted great - but not so good the 2nd time around :( [sigh]
starting to be a little cool here, so I've been craving soups, made potato-leek the other day, Saturday will be seafood gumbo
fresh dill cures hiccups
we should get a nice big grid sometime real soon, jac
oh, shady, that potato soup sounds wonderful!
i'm getting used to being disappointed when i see the grid size each day
emmmm, both sound wonderful, shdy!
I love the veggie cream soups
so long as they're over 100, I don't get too upset, but it hardly seems worth trying for one that's less
Our weather is turning to "soup days" also. I made chicken with homemade noodles on Sunday.
white fish n the base of the casserole dish, covered with a little dill. Splat a can of chopped tomatoes over that and then add cheddar cheeese (about 2oz) , mixed with 3-4oz white breadcrumbs and salt and white pepper/ Then bake it for about an hour. 40 mins covered and then 20 uncovered.
potato is easy....saute leeks, garlic, finely-diced celery in butter, boil potatoes on side, when potatoes are "done" strain and add to other pot, cover with heavy cream, salt and pepper to taste, garnish with crisp peppered bacon and chives or scallions
we had about 4 days of that kind of weather here near the Gulf, but now we're back to 70F+ days [sigh]
Ren - I though a freezing cold keyu dropped down your back cured the hics.
oh, and after adding cream, heat slowly until half the potatoes fall apart
I'm about 100 miles north of New Orleans
lol jacs
where, tyger? i'm in br
near Jackson, MS
hahahah mistress - it would cure mine!
red stick, eh?
gotcha, so same temp there now
right
yep, lsu person
Hel - thanks! I'm kinda drowning in US stuff here.
I'm a native Michigander, been here 7 years this time
are we swamping you, jac?
brrrrr, michigan, came here from Colorado to warm up
what's is face was on NPR tonite, shady
I'm from wisconsin *waves* I don't play much and I talk even less but just thought I'd put my two cents in :P
les miles?
MI isn't that cold, compared to surrounding states - it's all the water around it
I think I am the only UK person her at present, tyger.
