anyone ever do a load of wash, and forget to put them in the drier till the next day and then they smell funky?
it can also be a kitchen gadget (electric)
you're using it now jilli
Hi Lore
APART?
hi flosey jilli volley justa book frantique just1 DR
got pr9/66 , ty!
i think the worst day was friday when i went to a funeral - it got so emotional i had to leave the more the preacher spoke the more it felt like he was giving the eulogy for the break up of my marriage lol
def for re 8/45 - a white, needlelike, water-soluble solid, C6H6O2, a benzene derivative originally obtained from certain resins, now usually synthesized: used chiefly in making dyes, as a reagent, in tanning, in the synthesis of certain resins, and in medicine in treating certain skin conditions; meta-dihydroxybenzene.
an all night phone call?
yep frantique
and therefore the 11 (what a word!)
whew is that a clue????
it really is like a death kiwi... I can totally understand your tears
pi7
or is that something i can add to my wash?
thanks Dee sounds like a whole Chemistry lesson
does anyone know how to get that smell out of the clothing?
ty hug
cheer bleach for colors fran
wash them again fran
make that pi7 x 2
and put some fabric softener in the final rinse
oh, kiwi! It must hurt so much!
maybe i should run out and get a white, needlelike, water-soluble solid, C6H6O2, a benzene derivative originally obtained from certain resins, now usually synthesized: used chiefly in making dyes, as a reagent, in tanning, in the synthesis of certain resins, and in medicine in treating certain skin conditions; meta-dihydroxybenzene.
LOL Fran!
oh thanks.. i better get some cheer. i'm a tide user
LOL fran
ro7
that should do it fran
ty hug
i washed them again but still stinky :-(
ro 7 x 2 scuba
phantom scorpio
he finally emailed me yesterday and said i dont really remember what stuff i got left in the house can you send me a list
i sort of like the idea of the a white, needlelike, water-soluble solid, C6H6O2, a benzene derivative
so i sent him a list and a few other questions to answer but no response yet
Ohhhh....
kiwi what is happening in Hamilton we have heard a big fire in cool store in Hamilton and they are running out of water to put the fire out!!! last i remember Hamilton had the waikato running through it
Well, whatya know--I got another ro7!
wtg
lickety's isn't up yet is it?
big huge cool store fire yesterday in Tamahere
one firefighter has died
no!
wow lore we still have an abundance of water here in IN... flooding has not all receded yet
thats awful Kiwi
and yes they were running out of water and had to truck in appliances and water from auckland
they were in drought mode in hamilton for the last two months lore
awww
typical aussie we hear about it today!!! is the fire out?
historic armoury in Quebec City burnt today, with many precious artifacts
oh how sad jilli
yes finally - was a big huge cool store full of cheese
there was a fire years ago in an antique store here on long island.. a fireman died.. get this. the shop owner, sort of started the fire, with paint strippers.. she reopened right across the street from where the fire was
hope not mainland thats the only brand i buy !!!!
I'm missing 4 more 7's
talking of that lore a kilo of cheese is now on ave $15 and a pound of butter $5!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mainland is the south island lol
2 litres of milk is now bordering on $5 also
butter is $5. US Dollars here on long island
fran poor firefighters they have a horrific job to do and no one seems to appreciate them very much do they across the road that dame needs a heart!!!
really
my 7's are: ba, cr x 2, en, pi x 2, po x 2, pr x 2, ra, re, ro x 2, sc
fran a couple of months ago they were half that price
ah
everything here is creeping up in price
thanks Dee - I'm missing the other po7
cheese $12 butter 4.70 milk 4.80 aussie currency so much on par now i remember when nz was like ten times cheaper than aussie for dairy products and nz cows get to eat green grass or used to poor aussie cows no grass at all
yw... still 3 more to go then
The US Dollar is worth so little that i've lost total concept of value
hey hugs hows you??? big hugs !!!!!
our dairy products have become in so much demand overseas so they have to raise the local prices too go figure
I nearly did something stupid yesterday. i nearly bought a pair of gold earrings. Gold is over $1000. an oz right now. not a good time to buy gold
its all economics kiwi !!!! local users subsidise the overseas markets
here everythig is going up because of the fuel prices to deliver the stuff
oh and petrol has hit $2 a litre for unleaded in some places now too - tho urban is around $1.79 a litre
fran thats a world wide explanation i would prefer a more honest one like people want more profit!!!
i dont know how much the dollare is to the New Z dollar, but i'm glad I dont have to put your butter in my tank LOL
taking exchange rate into account our fuel would be much the same between 1.40 - 1.50
Hi Lore... I said Hi earlier, but I guess you missed it
dont put the butter in your washing either fran
LOL
sorry hugs must of missed you sorry
oh its buttery soft clothing!
anybody seen dc sean lately does franmag come here anymore?
$1NZ is about 0.78 usd
our province has just done the dumbest inflationary thing -- a "carbon tax" on gasoline, as if it isn't high enough in price already. That's fine in cities where peopole can take public transit but for most of the province there's no such thing. So ferry fares rise, everything which needs tucking rises, and so on. My income stays the same.
i miss these people
our fuel is $3.50 US Dollars and up
but thats a gallon
franmag has not been around in a while
i think thats coming here too soon jilli
at least I have not seen her
I know england has ALWAYS had crazy high gas prices
dc was on earlier on in the week, as for franmag i haven't seen her in a while now.
Yeah, jilli - I feel it too... OUCH

i havent seen fran for a bit but dc was on earlier in the week during my day time

yup gallon
The best in Vegas for gas is $3.27 per gallon...
i should drive to vegas for gas LOL
Our gas just went up to 1.22 per litre
frant, ours is the highest in Canada, which is much higher than the USA (by the litre, over $1.30 -- I can't do the math) and Europe is higher still
hey geek it took fuel to get your nose out of the grid hey?? lol
thanks freep
i think here theres only a three liters to a gallon LOL they ahve to confuse me
I do scrabulous with franmag and dc
we have 16 oz to a pint
*yawn* Morning people.

Gas is 2.99-3.05/gal on average here still

Wonder if lickety knows that today is his day in babble land?
my daughter loves to read old books, books that were already old when I read them... and I sometimes need to explain very obvious things... because they are SO not obvious anymore. Like buying a couple of bananas for a cent.
Fmitch? Icon theme for Lickety? Or something else?
what? I didn't know it was lickety's day in babbleland!
Icon theme for lickety as 2 years of him doing the list!
oh WOW FMitch. Ok, then I need to find something that expresses my feelings. He is totally the best.
oh wow.. didn't realise
fbitch fbitch
FMitch, how is the sin bin doing?
are we having a blue day today? Do we need a censor?
Health and safety shut it down
sunny: just ignore it, it will pass
FMitch :( That makes me sad.

you think so, FMitch? Don't think I am ready for that yet... still too scared :(
I DO think so, you have come amillion miles since then and you can wear the other icon well and just grow back into it honestly!
what was the real sprite ic 4/5 (PB for all of you) - curious now sprite
I will consider this a serious head's up, FMitch! Will think about it. And thanks *huggggg*
It was a strong heart with a little devil in it.

Hi BabRab
and a style of architecture
hello lynxxx
yay, halfway. Time to grab some breakfast, brb
and back already.
evening all :)
hi mrP! *hug* How are you doing?
(((hugs!))) hi sprite! am doing really well!
Hi MRP! still going well?
hi lynx!!! doing darn well!
god I am glad to hear that. Tell me all. Healing up at last?
I have no central line, am very very happy!
excellent!
no sprite :(( no healing
darn. Ok, so what is going well... the line out... your spirits... pain controle.... ?
my arm won't unite... non-union is a real pain (literally) so will have a scan next month to determine the bone graft
line out, selling heaps of stuff on ebay and doing really well with it! pain is under control and I have a paid job! Life is good
where they will harvest new bone from do you mean?
lynxx, they will take it out of my hip
spoke with a friend of mine, who is really a wizard when it comes to food and health. He recommended wakame (a kind of seaweed). If you roast it and eat lots of it, it stimulates the healing of bones.
they cut a rectangle shap of bone out, scoop the soft marrow out and graft it to my arm... then replace the rectangle and staple it back in so I don't lose shape on my hip
I eat seaweed everyday!! very clever friend there sprite!
wow mrP, that sounds truly amazing...and painful.
brb... cupcakes are beeping at me
Amazing. Hooray for all the good doctors
kiss your cupcakes from me
lyn, that is a special painting from your hubby. I love his face. Not entirely sure his body really looks like that though :)
and mrP, he was very serious about roasting it first. Seems to make it work at least 10 times better.
lol, it is a little compressed but even so I think he looks like a frog. He is better looking and does have a better figure! The artist has enetered it into a couple of important competitions here, made the finals in one of them - go figure. I have a set of 4 female nudes in pencil from the artist - they are great - maybe he likes women better, who knows
hehehe lyn, quite possible! Artists are special folks, grin.
back now
ah BabbleRabble, thanks, found the architectural style
wb mrP
my daughter is writing her first book for publication! I am going to be her editor and her stories are incredible!

Hi Nance and Angelina and Nutty and Inge the First and Spellit and Molly and all lurkers awaiting clues.
Hi all
thanks Molly I finally got it
Dr_God said it mentions Babble, which made me wonder if the author or a friend of the author is a Babbler.
hi molly
isn't that something, maybe i'll buy it
what does pentium mean?
Guten Morgen Frau Inge? Ist die Sonne sheining?
it's not in the dictionary
It is a type of pr9, like an Intel pr--in computers.
hey molly
Like a food pr....such as a Cuisinart
Good morning all
thank you scrabbler - i knew i heard of pentium - dumbola me
gm chiley
morning chiley
Hi Chiley--how is your grandson doing?
Great...he spent the night with us last night. He's such a joy.
Babies are fun and cute.
There's nothing better than cuddling with him. Pure heaven.
Little smushy teddy bears, aren't they?
good morning to those i missed!
Hi Pink--how is life across the pond? We are having a beautiful spring weekend.
its been a beautiful day today, lots of snow, children playing and soggy feet. Life is good scrabbler, you?
I went for a 1 hr walk yesterday, through the park near my home, and it was glorious. The ponds are still frozen. I saw a red fox--scared it--and saw it run away.
Where did Nutty go? Is she working furiously on the grid?
what is the third letter in the ra 7 word?
i NEVER work furiously on the grid
3rd letter is c
I don't have it, Inge.
Haha, Nutty, I was checking on you. Do you look for any words or do you just chat?
thanks chiley, and Scrab, your relative in the grid says that virus warning is a hoax.
i have 33 words thank you very much
I figured someone would say that, Inge. Was it my cousin "earth", or Stiddy?
Go Nut go!
Cousin Earth--are you on now? I will come to your house after work.
hello all
clue for the re8 please
Hi Periwinkle
thanks for the ra word, I had misspelled it earlier and therefore was stumped
peri--I don't have many words yet.

ra 7 is a masked animal
bo7 musical instrument

Hi BR
Those clues all went right past me. I will ponder them.
hey Babbrabb!
GM all!
Hi kje
Is that Nikki Giovanni in your icon, kje?
hi scrab! gonna look back at that re 8 clue...
hi kje
yes!!! WTG scrab - one of my favorite poets!
BR..I have the ra7 and I still can't connect your clue. I guess my brain isn't working yet.
I have one of her poems there if you click over, scrab
I first heard and saw her at the VT service--wow! Such passion.
I'm jealous - never heard her in person : (
that is a perplexing ra 8 clue babrab
I am sure you can find her on youtube.com. Her performance at the VT service was powerful and passionate..."We are Virginia Tech!"
I did hear thta one on the news - at least parts of it
BR likes to make us think. he gives us NYT-level clues.
well, I do the NYT puzzle (sitting temtingly beside me now) but will need to think on that one
temptingly that is
I love the Saturday NYT cr5word puzzle, and am still working on yesterday's. They really make you think!
half way, time to do some errands, bbs
good mental exercise, I agree scrab
Bye Peri

That is the masked animal--I have that word.
well, that's it
aaah - but that is ra 7, no? must look again
Oh, yes, the masked animal = ra7. I need ra8 and re8 and bo something.
does the ra 8 extend off the ra 7?
don't see how
i don't either, kje
only one eight, re 8
Ok..to clarify....there is NO ra8
And I must get ready for work---bye all. Enjoy the day.
the 8 is re

bad monkey!

bye pink, tc

have imogen heap's song "just for now" stuck in my head
gonna go find it - BRB
that is an awesome song.
I have it in iTunes...the live performance. Amazing
found the live one on my space - 5 minutes of music now : )
head bopping...
toe tapping...
nice, kje...it's in my head too now! :-)
LOL - good inge - could be worse things

I am a neurobiologist who works in drug abuse research.
fantastic! a fellow geek : )
(little bit of a career switch, eh? ;-)
indeed. You are a physician, I gather?
BTW - did you notice the sarcopenic in the grid the dictionary won't accept : (
clue for the 11, please?
geriatrician and epidemiologist
I did not. It's not a word I recognize either.
co + pr 9
co+ computer's brain
oh, muscle wasting - part of what we study in older people
thanks, kje. guess i'd better go find the pr 9 then :s
LOL ylleria
ah, nice to learn a new word, kje. Funny the grid doesn't recognize it.
I just clued the pr9, ylleria
pr 9 - the part of your computer that does all the work
ah, thanks, kje :)
yes, considering other words they accept - LOL
yw
too tired to find words... back later all
ty, lady
by Lady.
bye lady - see ya later, will likely still be lookinng
68 left - caving in and going to the list - don't know how people do it listlessly
by asking lots of clues kje!
but how do you even know what to ask for?
well, I don't ask for many myself, but I watch what others ask for...and I don't worry about finishing. I work on it till I'm bored then stop.
here is how one does it:
a) one does it after one has been babbling a while so that one knows lots of babblets already
but then you run the risk of looking for the ra 8 - LOL
or the OA11 LOL
b) you find the majority of the words by yourself first
bratty monkey is back
c) you reconcile yourself to the fact that the last bit will take forever
waiting hurshy...
d) you while away the time between finding one word and the next towards the end by inventing silly other games to play and talking a lot of nonsense in chat
c) is where I stop, the point of diminishing returns
LOL hurshy
And don't forget e) leave the puzzle for a few hours, and come back and you are guaranteed to see new words. Guaranteed.
hi Legend!!!! kissie kissie
Hi People. Starting a bit earlier today in hopes of not falling asleep before I complete!!!
morning all! my Capitals made the hockey playoffs in their very last game last night
true inge - always effective
kisses back lil monkey....:))
our stars fizzled out dan
:( dan, I was hoping for the canes, but NC had a bad night in sports all round last night.
hi red!
indeed red. condolences
e) you just ask different kinds of questions. for instance, say you're feeling stumped on c's, and you suddenly realise you have only one ca and tons of co's. you ask, is there more than one ca? that's not any harder for people to answer than th'other kind of cluing.
hi RED!
bit of a lots of S's in the puzzle. Thank you Dan, I feel for Tyler Hansbrough, he really is talented...
dan, i wanted the Hurricanes too...
hi Monkey, KJE, dan, hurshy etc....
Monkey has sense!
i wanted UNC TArheels too!
you will all fall for Ovechkin eventually - too bad they don't give a trophy for Most Enthused Goal Scorer
i'll be cheering on the Detroit RedWings in the STanley cup playoffs
It was a sad day Monkey. Luckily I feel asleep and could not see the carnage, or eventual running out of steam.
red, have you talked to scarlet?
speakin of monkeys, there's a famous monkey-trial man in the grid!
Only by email, but yes. SHe was very forgiving.
got it hursh!
when do you head for FLA, red?
aaah - hurshy
Friday.
now clue one I don't have please : )
I should be unpackign repacking or cleaning, but instead, I am lazing about. drinking coffee...not answering the phone.
ba7 - orchestra instrument
hope it's nice & warm!
twerent a clue, twere an observation :)
Its 65 there right now, 59 here, so its all good and the best thing is that I can seemingly runforever, no shortness of breath...back in the lowlands.
have that one dan - played it's close cousin for years
ba4, 5, & 6 also have to do with music
back in the lowlands again... back where the air is a friend
TY Dan, awesome word!
Yes, Hursh, I loooove being home. WOuld be better if I didnt miss a few of my NM people quite as much as I do.
i admire your ability to do what you do so much, red. i would not have the emotional strength - it impresses me that you deal with it so well.
good morning
Hurshy, I dont think I could really do any other job...I'm not multitalented..so its a good thing there is a need for nurses.
hi goof
good morning Goof.
star trek captain also in grid today
kje, I first thought that was your photo!!!!
but being a traveling nurse like you are, that seems - even more impressive than being a regular nurse
*swoons*
ha red! wish I was that talented person!
LOL hurshy! In some ways its lots easier, I go work, and if it stinks, i leave. BUt in this case, i do seem to have gotten a little bit involved.
hi all
what do the biggies start with?
hi ardilla
co
Ardilla! Hi!! How is the foot mending??
i spose to me it seems amazing since i have such trouble with change
why is hurshy swooning?
i swoon over capt. picard
it's going...crutches are still wearing me out
hi all back to tackle this 1
ewwwwww...that's gross hursh, and it might be blasphemous
good morning
gm harp and nut
um, why and why?
hursh - saw him play Othello in a "reverse race" production where all the other actors were black. Phenomenal
well, one) he's gross and b) he's gross
he's sexy!
he was voted people magazine's sexiest man alive one year...
he's snot
you must be in the minority on this one, nut :)
he's sexy!

i was TRYING to say; phantom abra cadabra!
sorry guys, mild distraction from chat. keep it up with the crutches ardilla.... Hurshy, there is not so much change as it might seem, just different names, even the personalities stay pretty much the same.

Hi.

hi jmb
hello everyone!
hi pink
Hi again pink
hi pugmama, FM-again!
hi pink
hey Annie
I've got a new manager - very scary lady. Have been summoned to a meeting first thing tomorrow...feeling nervous
will it be the first time of meeting?
co 5/16 # 2...?
No, second...first was a summons too..let rip at mee before saying hello! Then I had to explain myself..she had toback down as she was wrong, but it was not a good firt meeting :-(
sorry re typos!
co + double cons + 3rd vowel
Any advice pleeeeez?
thanks pink
Good luck, be confident and hold your head up.
Go in with an open mind and watch her body language for information.
f mitch is right it is the boss that made an arse of herself!
po6,21 anyone ?
dont be intimidated, be confident and hold your corner, and if you feel she is in the wrong speak up!
Thanks FM, last time i was shocked; I'm a manager myself and would never make a first intro like that...nor an subsequesnt meeting! I think she wastrying to exert authority
Thanks pug and pink
monkey, po + flower
stay cool, annie
Thak you Natts - how are you?
There is obviously a reason why she started on the offensive, she might feel threatened by you and just scared in a new position. Is she from outside the Co?
TY Une :)
good, thanks.
yw :-)
I learned a thing or two from my previous boss. He was a micro-manager/bully
hey Unea and Lady
hi, pink!
hi pink
I built my teams on trust and knoweldge/learning and was happy and confident to delegate to them when they were ready.
Yes, good spot FM, she's interim. I work for a recently hard hit NHS Trust and I think it was harder for her when I roved her wron - I could point out the errors easily, but I think that's what's mking me more scared for tomorrow - no-one like to be shown they are wrong
what's sad is that you had to prove her wrong. that's her fault, not yours, so go in with that attitude
don't tuck tail to a bully but don't act like there is any ill will either ,just take the high road
I think you have to put confidence in your staff, not make them scared to approach you. I'm pretty assertive, but she has made me afraid
I REALLY, REALLY appreciate the advice, thank you so much
Best advise then is to think twice before you say anything, consider it first. Don' just react.
I will think of you all tomorrow 9 am!
I am not assertive, annie and my former boss took advantage of it
but in the end, he was the one fired, not me
... and good luck, let us know how you get on.
I'll think of you then
yes, do let us know. I'll be sending strong energy your way.
you'll do well Annie...wish you all the best for tomorrow...make sure you update us!
ro6 & 7 , right before the flower ???
pooryou Natts. I was never assertive, then a wise midwifery manager sent me into the community to develop it. I will never forget the first time i was assertive. Thank you all so much.
if the vibes seem right & you find yourselves alone you can make the offer of helping her get familiar with her new environment , let her see you as an ally
That sounds good pug...thank you
ro + sc5/12 minus r
(and plural)
TY Une... that's a strange one
much luck to you dear! we all have enough stress in our private lives without it on the job too
i agree, monkey!

i did see the crash - without all he new safety features in the cars & on the track now i believe saving that man's life. what do you think?
hubby and I 'just don't talk about it'. We are truly disappointed in the team.
mikey's team?
if no clues needed for now - will go clean the bathroom...
in-car safety features + personal safety features + SAFER barrier = walking away from a crash that totalled your car.

Hiya pam, hiya Aussie!
I love the Series....
i like creepy movies but that was a downer, too!
It doesnt go like the book though, thats what did me about it really...
hi all
Gwen, I saw Before The Devil Knows Your Dead last week at the movies, and as brilliantly acted as it was, it just depressed me about the human state....
pam, meant to ask, how are you feeling today ?
hey, the movie of a book never goes like the book. you can't get a whole novel into a 2-hr movie!
Hiya ping!! How you doing?
hey Ping !
ping, ping 8-)
hi jandy and aussie and gwen
fine, jandy, how are you?
Which is not what I'm really looking for in an evening's entertainment, generally....
I know what you mean Gwen.... I am upset they are making The Hobit into two movies !
jandy, haven't seen that one -- don't spil the ending 8-)
**Hobbit**
Pretty darn good, thanks, ping. Off to the coast for a week tomorrow... a whole pile of nothing coming up!
i am glad they are making the hobbit into two movies. i mean, assuming they are good movies
Won't do Gwen... still worth seeing because Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke are brilliant..
that sounds excellent to me, jandy!
Kinda ok about it, but it wont be the same, I know whats coming.... I have read it every year, since I was 8....
aussie, i'm sure they;ll change something to get under your skin, LOL
Just a shame Peter Jackson is not directing it though... He did ok with the LOTR Trilogy...
which one is playing gollum?
It will be, ping. The weather is still nice, just cooling off in the evenings, so will get a few mild walks in, along with Scrabble, reading, movies that I've had for twelve months and haven't watched yet... fish and chips.... wine.... lol, sounding better and better!
I hope Andy Sirkis is playing him again....

well, It has been deemed that they cannot do a display at the 2012 Olympics, because they are "TOO BRITISH"" !!!!!
fireworks
it would be nice :D
and it might offend people from other countries **I am not racistm, sexist or any other ist**
wtg jilli ~~~ !!!
Congratulations jillibus on your fireworks!Good for U
Errr.... too British for?????
YAY jilli !!
yay jill!
aussie, who deemed that? some kind of chinese committee?
YAY JILLI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hang on and I will tell you..... brb...
The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'. Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British.' Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain. The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world. The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.
apologies for such a long message there...
BUT grrrrrrrrrr !!
Oh hells bells, I thought you meant the Beijing Olympics... that's MUCH more stupider!!!
oh, from the london olympics, i missed that. still, the olympics is supposed to be about world peace and stuff
oh can the british be to british?
the key word being "militaristically" British. Hi, all
so, not too british but too militaristic. that kind of makes sense, in light of olympics being about peace and stuff
I think that is being racist against britain myself!!
Well, I know I've seem some Australians who are DEFINITELY too Australian... do you see Kath and Kim at all???
racist?
Thanks Lind.....
Hi all
they prolly ban lots of things from the l=olympics, like howitzers and uzis, too
i love to watch those pilots fly theri planes. it amazes me
Hi LInd... how you doing?
yeah not allowing traditionally british things in britain cos it might be too british
it's ridiculous
Yes, have seen Kath and Kim, but thats silly stuff for TV......
ya'll==the key word is militaristically!
hi jandy, pretty lousy at the moment but things can only get better (:
thats it no more tea... oh wait that was an amaerican thing LOL
Sort of Aussie... and yet, spookily...... sometimes a little close to reality!
but, its a display team !! they arent flying to promote the military......
does anyone recall seeing a precision military flying team at an olympics before?
Oh, poor Lind... Hugs to you.... not too long to go now! Nature is going out of its way to convince me I REALLY need this surgery so I can sympathise!
I agree aussie, it's hideous!!
I agree--but it's not because they're too British--that's not what the article says.
aussie, beg to differ, those teams are exactly to promote the military
well, they fly military planes... just like the Thunderbirds here...
No, Book doctor--not a time for military display
I used to love the Thunderbirds... I had a crush on Virgil...
Jandy that is the good thing about feeling lousy, it spurs me on and i know surgery is right for me too!!
Thunderbirds didn't fly at our Olympcs in Utah
i recall the olympics when they were in USA -- Georgia? -- and the opening ceremony was amazing (but no precision flying team)
I know they promote the millitary, but, they arent doing it to promote the millitary, they are doing it to do something special for the 2012 London Olympics....
jandy. LOLOLOL!!
that's what I meant, miranda, that these things are military....
wow! what a fun video! I'm still bouncing!
I think that the Greeks had a truce during the original olympics???
oh, okay, Pam
I know exactly what you mean Lind... no second thoughts for me either! I'm thinking of having a bonfire of all my no-longer-needed cotton wool wear afterwards... with fireworks...
pam, exactly. that's what i was saying, it's about peace
How are you, young Jilli?
ro6/18 clue please?
LOL jandy
only allowed at the superbowl and world series
surgeries? So sorry..
I figure I'm going to gain 50 bucks a month disposable income and a whole extra shelf in the bathroom!
right, diem, wher jets flying are somehow sportif... grrrrr
Yeah me to Jandy!!
ahhh, that surgery...
I'm just miserable because I love to watch the planes fly.... and its not because they are millitary planes either.....
Pam, Lind and I are our own support group! It's very convenient!
thanks pam
hey..how come when I look up ro 6/18 the dictionary has nothing...what kinda word is that?
i know what you mean aussie
ro6/18 clue please?
k21... I would say a dodgy word... but it happens now and then!
oh, I am sure, aussie, but as long as those planes represent the military, they kind of run contrary to the olympics...
pug, sorry, don't have it either!
sorry pugmama, don't have it! Would you like the ro6/24 instead? Huh?
Because no matter the reason, they are fighter jests--
I do understand that pam, really I do, but, what else do we have thats world class to show off with ??
ro 6/18 like the male chicken but no t
ty but no it's the only ro I need
*jets--interesting typo
LOL--was thinking the same thing, miranda
Thanks, knitter!
Message to Minveryork -- the videos (most of them) are another reason to use BabbleExpert
ro 6/18 male chicken less 4th letter
Think of the Beatle song I'm a lo****, then make it start with an ro
I don't know, aussie... But, i am sure it will be amazing
Surely we've got a lot of world class stuff to show off without the military?
ty, knitter
ro6/18 drop the t in the think that wakes you up early
Me too, Aussie... so many fabulous things to share with the world...
TY K21

OooohhI thought you meant that you, Doctor, had been there.
I know, I know, but you can't book the birds for an appearance at the London Olympics
no.. i dont have the 9 either
brandi add two letters in front of the 9
lol. im pretty pitiful at this... so much for being an english major
9 is the brain of a computer
We went to a show in Thailand with the most amazing trained elephants, buffalo, goats, doves and CHICKENS!! Who could train chickens like that???
your computer has a word pr9
oh brandi, that's probably a bad thing -- lots of these words are not English and some are possibly Klingon
Not that I'm suggesting that a flyover of chickens would be a good substitute for the aerobatics...
brilliant!
miranda, i'm just a book doctor, i'm the The Doctor 8-)
I have seen a gaggle of geese that fly with a microlight..... its soo cool !!
LOLOLOL, jandy
Hey...chicken flyover could be great fun
could develope into mew olympic sport...dodge the droppings
Fireworks, not too bad today
But would raise other issues... you'd have to give everyone in the crowd a shower cap and sunglasses...
sounds like a new thing on the menu.. **Waiter, I'll have the Chicken Flyover please**
LOL k21... great minds...
must go and refresh my preprandial vodka-on-the-rox :)

Hey Lind
hi Jac
Hi Aussie. Were you snowed in this morning?
no, wish I were though, I had to go to work....
Hi lbd, Lindrick et al.
There was lots and lots of snow though....
Jac, I'm still contemplating, cackle cackle
just not enough to snow me in....
Oh, poor you, Aussie. Not nice on a Sunday!

I work two of thre, and one of three saturdays too....

um.. I dont know how to tell how many letters the word is going to be?
no
Id ont
no, but I have wanted to add it, gwen!
what is lickety's list?
It is if you spell it picodar, Gwen. LOL
ahhh, jean luc is not accepted either. :-(
LOLOL, jac
lbd - I noticed that, too.
oooooh, is lbd a picard fan ?
An es6/18 word is e + double letter+men don't like to be kicked in the gr*** brandimos. Is that what U need
WELL, brandi, you open a new window, get babble up, scroll down to Friends of Babble and click on Lickety's Babble Clues. Light will dawn!
Guten Abend, Babblers. I need your help. Does anyone here know the name of the newspaper in Canton, OH. I need to find a concert review
brandi, at the lower left hand corner there is a list of "friends of babble" click on lickety's babble clues.
Abend Inge....
Inge -- did you goggle Canton Ohio Newspapers?
inge, google was no help?
thanks!
Aussie, of course! jean luc...what a voice!
I started reading the only UK copy of that book Dr_G's been plugging. Not seen any mention of Babble yet.
Aussie, you ought to be asleep
hi inge
hi Inge!
not goggle, google, altho goggle is apt
Hi, inge. Can you Google it?
jac, I read some online and ordered it
canton ohio, or canton michigan ?
Hi lbd, hi lind, hi Aussie, I tried google and it gave no clear answer
Canton, OH
Goggle, which, incidentally, is what i first typed but corrected before posting, is more apt for girlie pages of the papers, if you're a guy... which I am not.
http://www.cantonrep.com/ try here, inge
http://www.cantonweb.com/search/result scat.asp?cat=Newspapers&catid=1128
well, it's not Canton, China any more -- now Guanzhou or something
here ya go
cantonrep.com seems to be the biggest one
Shall we just call it Giggle?
lickety split = amazing
which Concert Inge ?
HI ALL AM BACK
oops sorry bout caps
sheesh, NBC news has just discovered the Alberta oil sands we've known about for ages -- more than Saudi Arabia -- of course they callit sub-Arctic, which is BS
wb chunk
hi chunky
hiiiii
Hi all! back to see if I can find the 99 words that eluded me this morning.
hi autumn
hi autumn
NBC news is owned by republicans. ignore it!
If you need lists, which many of us to at some point in the solving, BJ and Lickety are the men to provide them. BJ gives you a list. Lickety goes a few steps further. You choose what suits you.
hi chunky
hi autumn
I heard it on NBC, too, Jilli--
Inge, which Concert ?
bj
hi
hi Chunky and Brandi. Good to see you back.
Brandy Jack, jilli.
oh my, the downside to drinking herbal tea all night? My mouth feels/tastes like old dishwater... BRB...
Not what you first though! LOL
BJ's list is found via Babblers Anonymous
Remind me never to kiss you then, Pam! LOL
I know, jac -- that was a mistaken hit on a wrong key
27 to go, hitting the list . . .
es 6/18?
not ever having imbibed dishwater, fresh or old, i'll take your word for it, Pam. lol
serves you right for not drinking REAL tea, Pam!
well, I wrote a note to their webmaster since I can't find any concert reviews
e double consonant + three c***s in the fountain
Jilli - thank Gawd for that! I thought for one horrible moment there might be some sex lesson going on there.
Inge, what Concert was it ?
An es 6/18 word is e plus double letter plus men don't like to be kicked in the gr*** brandimos.
Hi Min! how ya doing?
gratzi
I've started my blog at last, 'cos Hydra's asked me to. I'll invite you all when I sorted out what goes where.
so, brandi -- you went to Lickety's list?
Hi lbdawger! I am almost to the finish line. Been here all day.Mostly lurking and giving clues here and there
yes
go Min go!
I should do a blog or a website -- don't know how
It was a piano concert performed last night by Kotasro Fukuma, the artist who sent me that sunset photo of Cape Town, Africa, when he performed there
jill
LOLOL, y'all! I drink "real" tea and coffee before three p.m. After three or so, I have to switch.,..
you can get decaf "real" tea
hey Pam, try rooibos tea.
jilli, blogs are really easy to do.
Real tea is PG Tips.
I have had it, autumn...
Sorry, the name is Kotaro Fukuma, he is Japanese
I like herbal tea a lot. Just should have brushed a bit ago 8-)
I used to do things for our library website, using HTML, felt very inadequate -- such a pain
roobios tea tastes like TCP! *gags*
LOLOL, jac
what the H is roobios tea?
*doesn't think Jac likes rooibos tea much*
Inge!!! http://tinyurl.com/4cxau8 kotaro fukuma review from ohio.com
I like many, many herbal teas but that is not one of them! Traditional African red bush tea, jilli.
and what is TCP?
INGE !!!!! http://cantonrep.com/index.php?externa l=search/repSimpleSearch_results.php
Yuk. I like Orange Pekoe, Earl Grey, suchlike
it also has no caffeine and better for you than green tea.
Jilli - it's an antiseptic mouth wash.
jilli, most blogs now, don't have to do html. it's click and drop for the most part
White tea with peppermint is nice.
Oh yukyukyuk!
I cannot see the point in drinking decaffeinated tea and coffee.
Well, mess with all those conconctions if you like, just don't call them TEA -- perfusions would be more like it
oh jac i agree!!
I like the rooibos. It's not decaffeinated, it has no caffeine.
concoctions
You drink them when you want a lift. No lift is there is decaff. If you're just thirsty, then drink something else. Adam's Ale (water) for instance.
ac 6/27 plz
Earl Grey with lemon is heaven.
chunky, a peace treaty is an ac****
YES JAC, YES !!!!!!
I don't drink decaf tea, but those who like the flavour of real tea may do so as afar as I'm concerned
i drink green tea in the afternoon or evenings.
huh?
chunky, ac + thinner than a rope but bigger than string.
lbd - green tea's great as long as you don't overbrew it. Second matter in the brewing!
chunky - are you a fan of the pirates of the caribbean movies?
ac 6/27 is another word for agreement chunkyuk32.
no lol
ac 6/27 word means to be in agreement or harmony chunkyuk32.
i follow the japanese tradition in brewing tea. never bruise the leaves and let it steep quietly
poor Chunku hasn't seen Cap'n Jack yet?
i av dint like it
or use the weird gunpowder tea. but that's really special occassions.
Omigod! Heathen alert! LOL
Cap'n Jack always reached an ac**** with others.
ba 7/36?
Can you all stop taling about Cap'N Jack, or I may have to give m Other Half a sudden awakening. LOL
*whispers -- I haven't seen any of those Pirates of the Caribbean movies* ARRRGH
pmsl
brandi, a large woodwind instrument, like an oboe on steroids
ba7/36 is a musical instrument.

ba7/36, musical instrument
Jilli - I heard you. Get watching, girl!
The ba 7/36 word rhymes with the ra7/36 brandimos
* thinks will have to plan a weekend movie screening with Jilli *
yeah, I know, jac
chunky, ac + before wireless, phones were attached to the unit with a phone ****. often curly but sometimes straight
I remember straight phone ****s
coz I'm so old :)

Jili - are you a member of goodreads? If so, go to my list and check up on 'On Strike For Christmas'.
I remember the "on the wall, never to come off" phones too, Jill
i remember them on the old crank up phones, jilli
Found a strange thing on that site earlier - all the comments on books seem to have gone.
i got the word.. but how on earth does that connect?
jac, yes, but I have very little time for reading
oh nm
i see it now
May 18th UK Premiere of NCIS Season 5 !!!!!!
jac, your comments or others?
My aunt still has her on the wall phone - it's black with a dial and the handset sits infront at the bottom of it
I hope that's a blip and not a permanent thing. Can't see much point in seeing lists of books read with number of stars given but no comments.
Does anyone have a clue for the ro 6/21 word please
we were much too modern in thirties Shanghai to have crankup phones -- we had dialups!
Min, it's what gangsters back in the 20's used to call guns.
jilli - there is always time for reading, even if it's when you're on the toilet.
lol Jac !!
ro6/21 -- plural ro. Add girl college kids, remove last letter. And pl
why isn't ARAB a word?
ok, must go to bed now..... have to be up to go to the doctors later..... night night Babble Family.....
Jac my mum used to always read in the bath!!
jac, I read at meals and on the loo -- all kinds of things!
night Aussie
night aussie
Jilli - I know it's hard to concentrate on reading any kind of fiction (let alone writing it, hence my downfall) after life losses and upheavals...
jindi -- proper noun
i'd say because it's a proper noun, but that doesn't always follow enable rules, jingo
or BOSCO
sweet dreams, Aussie
night night Jind... Lind, jilli, Jac, lbd, et all.....
sweet dreams.....
**le poof**
Sorry lbdawger, not getting that gangster gun clue.I also didn't get your clue jillibus. Experiencing density
i know -- im a little cranky with 76 left and no end in sight. I want them to be words! poo!
jac -- I read the daily paper, Time magazine, various other publications, fiction, nonfiction, just a few pages at a time!
Min - what clue did you ask for?
ro 6/21?
Min asked for ro6/21
ro+ abbrev for south carolina + female deer are called d**s
Thank you for the ro 6/21 clue.I just found the word
thanks dawg!
jilli - I know. It took me about 13 years... stubborn Taurean that I am. I think I'm aobout set now to get a dog again and write again... I may even consider marriage again... sometime in the next 5 years.
yay, Min and Lind!
so, jac, are you liking the pajama girls?
I wish EVERYONE who uses Lickety's list would thank him via ic4s!
well its time for me to say good night all, got to go and get ready for work tomorrow and have a nice early night with my book
sweet dreams, Lind!
thanks dawg
It's very 'American', as was 'On Strike for Christmas', but I'm liking it so farm lbd. hEY, ARE you the mystery author?
Jilli, would you like us to change into his icon?
Min -- having found the word do you see my clue?
If only, Jac! lol
I dont see your clue jili
jilli - I did an ic4 for him. I don't use him that often but I do appreciate what he does.
Actually, didn't go back to your clue jillibus.Trying to find the second co5/16 word and to finish up quickly.
lbd, it's a bit late now, but today's theme was to thank Lickety for his two years of work for us, all gratis
co5.16 uses all three c's and two vowels, Min
**doing the happy dance** I completed my tax packet for my CPA. Arrggghhh. I hate doing it.
Hi scrabs!
oh. I didn't even look at the icon themes for today. bad me!
hey guys...i'm new here
welcome Kil
hi kild
YAY Scrabs! but i bet the cpa appreciates it.
Hi kildiven--welcome to Babble!
welcome kild
I'd congratulate Scrabbs if I didn't need to pay a visit upstairs so urgently. *Charges off*
I will bring the packet to my CPA tomorrow, then he will deliver the verdict in a day or 2.
I owe the feds, but the state gets to return money to me. in all i think i'll make 5 bucks!
thanks for the welcome...is this game anything like boggle...i play it all the time on the beach
Does anyone have a clue for the ni 5/14 word please
Min -- co5/16 -- streptoco*** (a pl word)
sore
Min, a type of battery
whoops....didn't have the cursor on the right line...my bad
I pay estimated quarterly taxes and it painful to write those checks. If the estimates were underestimated then I will owe.
ni5/14 -- kind of battery -- ni + rotter
you get a pass on that since you're new Kild, otherwise we'd send you to the penalty box
kildiven--don't fret, we all do that.
NI + a bounder, Min. An untrue suitor is a ca* and a bounder!
A clue for the 11?
He may even get challenged to a duel!
careful, kild -- you might get sent to the Penalty Box for posting words in the chat, lol
Thank you for the ni 5/14 clue. I just found the word
i'll duel anyone...i'm a fencer!
I worked today so will not finish the grid. I am trying to get to halfway.
Ok,still stuck on the second co 5/16 word. Last word
Scrabbs - checks to us in UK are things you do to make sure everything is running smoothly. If we want to pay bills we write cheques.
ni + rotter?
Never Mind!
co+ one who puts things thru a system
I am finished! Thank you all for your wonderful clues!
evening all
Min -- did you see my streptoco*** clue?
hi feather!
Yahoo Minveryork!
I've asked for a downstairs toilet for my 51st birthday pressie. How sad is that??
whoooo hoooooo MIN!
hi feather!

my best friend was just visiting tonight with her 3 week old. suddenly nick seems huge! lol
Well done, Min!
Well, writing the cheques will be painful then. Ouch!
YAY Min!!! NOW will you thank Lickety???
Hi feather
lol, can you remember when Nick was 3 weeks old?
Great idea, Jac!
my 7 yr old girl told me 1 of words tday
ac 6/21:ac**** the great divide. ar 5/10 is a + flower
Kids can do this game and learn a lot.

bo7 please?
Ty for co11
yep, with all the squeaks and screeches! i like him more now though, with his personality....back then he just slept, ate and pooped for the most part. hmm, no wonder it's gettign more challenging to juggle both kids nowadays!
Although I've finished, I need a P
Scrabbs - you have just joined the ;How Sad Are We' club, of which I fear I am the founder member. I do wish both my knees would stop cracking so loudly when I stand up in a firm but womanly fashion.
lol jac
bo7, bo4.6 above + half circle + frozen water minus last letter
Yes, feather, when babies develop to where their free will exerts itself--->trouble!
b + run a ***e + a nervous t**
My knees are crackly when I use the stairs too.
i'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with daniel and his "threeness"
oops left out the o
i just tell hubby the stairs are creaking.
Ty for bo7
lbd - I can't do that when he just gave me a hand up off the sofa!
if your knees are crackling you need to drink more water, take calcium, selenium, magnesium and get more exercise.
okay, updated my ic4 to thank Lickety.
4-5 yr olds are my favorite!! I wish I could preserve kids at that age--so innocent, candid, profound, funny, and full-of-life!!
kild, i need to be 20 years younger too.
But I will anyway. Just like me and him till each other all the anal wind noises are amphibians we've just accidentally trod on.
not necessarily...i'm 57 and rollerblade 3 times a day
that's why i love teaching kindergarten! i have a cute story for you all.....
Haha, Jac! Stepping on amphibians! LOL
a week i mean
*waiting for cute kindergarten story*
glad to hear tha, kild!!!
ki;d - thanks for the advice. I know all that, once taught it, but don't always practise it.
Hi, scrabs!!!!!
jac, we have "barking spiders"
we were talking about birds this past week, and one book showed vultures. so i told the kids how we live a few miles from the landfill, and every now and then the vultures will come roost on a dead tree in my yard. (we're talking twice, maybe three times a summer.) i said how it's kind of gross, that i didn't like them much, and little Troy says "why don't you just move?"
mouse on a harley
Hi Pam===how are you? (Pam + China)
don't worry jac.....no one ever does...people just like to complain
lol! i love it feather!
I am back and have changed icon in honor of Lickety
his attitude was totally "well, DUH lady, if you don't like them, just move!"
Thanks, Scrabs,,,, better today.
Thanks, Scrabs,,,, better today.
Hi, feather--not used to being on so late on a "school" night--LOL
must go and cook supper...back later xoxoxo all
I love it, Feather---little kids are so concrete and honest.
welp, i gotta go, early shift again. see you all tomorrow
Bye dawger

(Confession here: I seem to pass out on the couch, awaken, turn off the compouter and go read without saying good night)
I passed halfway!

night dawg!
bye, jilli
yay scrabs! and that's ok pam ;)
go scrabs go !
Passed what, Scrabbs? The halfway mark, wind or what? *Grins*
help with bo 7 please?
I stepped on a frog that got in the house, Jacula. *wink, wink*
Pam - I hardly ever bother to say hello or goodnight. What's your problem?
I wondered why there are so few birds at the feeders I have on an old oak -- now I know -- a Sharp-shinned Hawk perching in the upper branches. But he's beautiful too -- and hungry...
Too much cabbage, Scrabbs? ;-)
A sharpie--I love hawks.
bfn
doug always says "mouse on a harley" for passing gas
No4, I passed the halfway mark of the grid.
I'm ambivalent, scarbs!
Ha ha...feath..."mouse on a halry"....funny as hell!!!
again, bfn
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaarp!
Srry, couldn't resist. LOL
LMAO
LOL
Me too, Jill. I like seeing hawks in some places, but I would not want one in my yard bothering my friends. My birdfeeders were packed yesterday--goldfinches, chickadees, titmice, nuthatches...I sat out and watched them all.
it was a beautiful weekend here
Actress Michelle Dotrice, who was actor Edward Woodward's wife always decribed his name as 'fart in a bath'.
Same here--sunny and mild. It got up to 63 here today, but I worked part of the day.
i took nick and daniel on a wagon ride around the yard (4 acres). nick was sooooo excited, it was very cute! he was squealing before i even finished strapping him in.
"hydrofarting" is the term, LOL
lol, you really have to say that one out loud to appreciate it
hello everyone, and jill, we had a sharp shinned hawk family in the ash tree across the street, they liked the squirrels,
You do, feather, but gad you got it.
i wasn't really "getting it" until i said it aloud, then the light bulb clicked on
*glad
4 acres, feather? I'm envying you.
ni 5/14 plz
daniel farted earlier today, while we had company. i said to him "what do you say" and he says "thank you"
Hahaha, it is so funny when kids get their etiquette terms mixed up!
LOLOL, jac,,, hello and good-bye seem to be de rigeur here... I love hawks, too, but appreciate that they feed on other birds I love..
yep, we love it jac
daniel's latest phrase is when you say thank you to him, he'll say "no pleasure!" (gets no problem and my pleasure mixed up)
Okay, Pam. It wasn't me doing the hawk posts. I could do some but not now.
ni + a boy in military training is a ***et
ok, enough kid stories, i need my beauty sleep, speaking of goodbyes!
I know--jilli and scrabs were.,.. combined my post, sorry,,,,
ha Feather - I say the same when it finally comes out! You have to love and appreciate honesty!
LOL, feather.
After I give kids a colorful sticker in the office (when they have been "good") I ask, "What do you say to me now?" Responses have been: I don't like it. Give me another one. Do you have candy? And the best: I really was hoping for a Happy Meal.
BTW - HI ALL!!!
lol scrabs!
ty pug xx
hi kim
yw
ok, night!
Good night, Feather!
Scrabbs - surely the best was, 'When I'm old, like you. can I do your job?'
night, feather
Erm umph, that was one of mine. LOl. erk!
Some kids do tell me that they want to become a doctor and work with me. When I do the math and figure out when they will be able to practice medicine, I tell them that I better be retired by then.
Hi Pug !
At 104/85 I am ready for bed. I shall return in the morning.
hey kimmy...what's your story?

i wouldnt lol
I won't be here long. I've been having eyestrain probs. You'd think, with a nice, relatively new flat screen, and not using really high resolution on it, that the eyestrain would be minimal to non-existent, but ... not so :sigh:
beieve it or not you'll start remembering some of these crazy words after a while
I've had to take a bunch of breaks just to finish this not-really-all-that-long grid
