How can Dora who looks so cute be annoying?
I had Howdy Doody
Well, indeed, but at least since I don't actually understyand the Portuguese it doesn't get stuck in my head.
On our vacation I found that it is quite a lot more annoying in English.

That d does not have 23 words. Nuh uh, no way.
(((Lorip)))
***tackles FM with a gentle pounce***
G'd morning my love!
Morning, not stopping just wanted to say hello. :)
Not stopping? Are we not good enough?
You need to start stopping!
<--------- Look! Words!
Besides, this 'd' business, I need someone to blame, and I nominate you!
Hey Haz
***averts eyes from Haz's hypnotic arrow***
I reckon this is a great grid for someone in a campaigning mood. I could take up campaining for the right to take my clothes off, to inflict pain - all kinds of things!
Hello FMitch!
I could even take up campaigning to be able to spell!
Haz, please stay clothed it is a little chilly today!
Oh I will, don't you worry about that. I have pity for my neighbours
Oh, and g'd morning Haz. esprit is our resident nekkid Babbler, one is plenty..... ***hands Haz ugly but warm bathrobe***
I can't stay as much as I would love to must get clothed myself and ready for a lunchtime meet
I'll take ugly but warm over nekkid and embarrassing.
Meetings are boring, and an income is highly overrated. Stay and be free of income! :p
Oh well, if you've better things to do than stay and babble with us.... (putting note and black spot against FMitch's name)
Such tempting words Lori (not).
*** pouts and clings to FM's leg, and dares her to try and walk with a 130 lb Nova scotian attached to a limb***
I know you guys will be here anon so we can play then.Hugs
It could be a new Olympic event ' Drag the Nova Scotian'
'Yer so responsible, it makes me look bad......
*tries exiting gracefully with said 130lb Nova scotian attached to leg*
Indeed! The New, extreme Highland Games!
But we'd have to make sure they all weighed the same (the Nova Scotians) otherwise there'd have to be a handicapping process. This has possibilities.
heh, hard to be dignified with a Nova Scotian on ones leg....... Have a good one FM
Extra marks to FMitch for attempted grace! Could there be a dance element also?
Not greek of course!!
Ooh, yes, in traditinal Greek garb.....
Oh yes! Greek tunics and Nova Scotians. How multi-cultural!
LOL!! and on that jolly note *poof*
The Grco Highland Extreme Games!
We'll work on it, Fmitch, while you're gone - bye for now!
Someone stole my 'o' and my 'e' from my posts. i demand justice!
Oh well. I suppose we'd better get back to <------ those and mull over the Extreme Highland Games concept.
Is it a conspiracy, Lori, do you think?
Of course. I know everyone's out to get me.
Proper order.
I greyed out the bottom row, no prob, hit the 'd' and seized up. Ack ***decides to ignore the 'd'***
I thik the D has a misprint. 23?
Shirley must be a typo.
Undoubtedly.
I'm sure if we look back in the log, other people will confirm that it's a mistake.
We viewed the potential number of d words with di6/30.
lol, honestly, I have 8 words, so clearly it can't be me......
Okay, now I have 11, but that's my final offer!
14 so far here
G'd morning Une. Wow, 14 you rock! :-)
hey, lori :-)
I only dream of 14...... :p
hi all

Hello Une!
Good Morning. I finally have a day off and a nice sized grid.... cool!

Good morning red.
hi rth
wow, the gang is all here.
red, you're up at 5:00am on your day off??
Delayed g'd morning to red
Well, I have to run at 6 and in order to run I have to eat and then so as not to get a stomach ache....
in short Une, yes, I am.
:-D
But I shall nap at 8:30.
Run? Why? Are the police after you? :p
funny Lori. I hope the Police are not after me.
:-) The only running I do, is putting my nails through panty hose....
I can not remember the last time I wore panty hose! I dont think I have a pair.
my total phantom is tumult, and I am not sure I even have it as a phantom spelled correctly!
You've spelt it correctly I think. I've typed in audit a kazillion times....
oooh good one...
This is a very kinky grid. the s's are loaded with kinks.
funny small fish too it would seem, but maybe those are not fish that sm word.... I think I am thinking of fish with an e insted...
Quick break needed here. Back shortly...
Later Haz
good morning all. Phantom of the day for me: malamute
G'd morning Eva. You really are a true Babbler.... :D
you mean having hallucinations?(-:
Er, yah, that too... :p
I think I'min for a nasty wet run, its 90 % humidity and already 77 degrees.... sorry I had to share and my dog doesnt care....
We care red, on behalf of the dog. :-)
Oh he doesnt go running with me....he cant keep up. He;s been walked, and is now hanging out in air conditioned comfort...
Hello everyone and good morning / good day.
G'd mornign elder!
Hi Elder!
Red, just read ... good grief!! are you training for the Olympics in China, if not, go for it, if you can run in that high humidity.
How is everyone ok ?
No Olympic training here, I am too slow, but this will be the best it gets today, so in a few, I'll take it on...
How are you?
I am fine thank you, apart from the low trough in the weather, its horrible here and it had been so lovely. I always blame Bush:)
Fog, day 4 or 5, I forget which. Poopy fog.
Back for the final onslaught - hi all who were not here when I left and also those who are STILL here! :)
wb lorrie. You smell better! :p
Hehehe - Gee, thanks Lori! :)

There is now, thanks to Stephen Colbert. :-)
Hello back. Lorrie at my old house there was a coffee factory and when it was foggie it smelt like brewing coffee
Come on .... focus on the grid.. Ok I will..
Grid? What are you talking about elder? :D
Who is he ..? some English / word scholar?
talking to myself .. to focus..:)
I blame the meds:)
I think, or hope, I smell of Dior at the moment - my doctor just will not appreciate it all! :)
My favourite Dior perfume is in the grid - du4/6.
Hello Haz..
Yes, a nice one Haz
wb haz. elder, Colbert is a "fake news" program (comedy) from the US. Love it, as well as the Daily Show
Hello all, back to see if I can get any more d words. Doubtful.
I'm still on the first sweep, but that d hasn't improved much. Stoopid d.
Oh ! thanks for the explanation.
Since I got back my attempt at getting anything much has been di6,24 and I am full of di6,30! "\
Some of us are still going on the misprint theory.
I know a typo when I see one! 23 my foot
D words done
All done.
Nice one, herin
Yah Elder
the d's i meant to say.
Done elder? Nice job. ***not that I'm jealous or anything***
Lorip, happy to clue, not that awful once you have them.

Suck lemons---haha.

Carlee, how are you & the kids doing?
we're pretty darn good actually..for now... thanks..
i shall scrabbler. yes carlee, I am better, the op has given me a very strong and functioning arm! it went pretty good
Less stress, Carlee?
Mrp SO pleased to hear your operation was a success. Hopefully the last one.
ok...well.. am sorry I missed it all so i couldn't wish you well..but am glad it all turned out...
stress is relative scrabs...its all in whatyou get used to...
poor lickety just got back from walking the dog... he is half frozen!
we are good..and funtioning..and happy... taking daughter to see fergie in consert tomorrow..took her to bonjovi the other nite
Yes, it is relative to one's attitude, and you have made adjustments over the last 10 months.
define..freezing mrp :))))
carlee, I agree... I have nearly been to the brink of stressing to the point of depression, but I refuse to go there right now...
it might be about 7 degrees out there
that NOt freezing..-30c is freezing
well, as you say, it is all relative!
exactly mrp...i could be depressed but I refuse
30c minus is insane!
crossy,s back,the cats were ha]ving a meltdown:/
-30 is NORMAL for our winter
and today..its...+33 with humidity of 38
yup minus 30 to minus 40
good girl carlee! we can refuse cause we have better things to do with our stress
28c here atm
Hi crosshair buddy

tc scrabs, say hi to the rabbits for me;)
NOW i know what the doctors are doing while we wait 2 hours in the waiting room! they are babbling like Dr. scrabs!
gm babblers
bet those big macintosh screens they use display it quite nicely:))
howdy kje
a friend got to asking how long behind they were running when she went in; if over 1/2 hr she went back to work & came bask [was contractor & pd by time she put in]; when dr heard he thought great idea & told staff to tell people if 1.2 hr & call if hr behind; wish more would
we have a bone specialist here,up till recently he was the only one.i once waited in his waiting room for 6 hours
if you went away and missed the appt,it was 3 month till another
we now have two of them thank god
she worked 2 blocks away, so the >1/2 hr time was viable
i count myself lucky to have a regular g.p for my family, but we have not a single pediatrician like scrabbs.unless you make a plea through child services you can wait 6 months to see one
that sounds very wrong xhair
we had a new g.p open a office near here.she had 400 slots for patients,so they decided to hold a dr lottery.5000 applied and the slots were full in a week
on a triage basis
morning.. MrP great to see you!
ive had the same doc for 17 years so im very lucky
morning dorens! great to see you too! ((hugs))
ok,,,this grid wont fill itself...:)
hello everyone!
hi
a dr lottery? how revolting (and obviously very underfunded and vital service needed in your area)
hi annie :))
Mrp!! how wonderful to see you!
Hi annie.
hi dorens
for years we have had a brain drain to the states mrp:/
great to see you too! i have missed you and all my babble buddies
hi MrP! are you back home now?
yes kje! i am home for a week now... conscious for about 2 days now! am dropping my meds down fast to be more 'human'
glad to hear you are doing better, we missed you : )
yes! get rid of those meds - LOL
conscious must be a welcome relief.
conscious is considered a superpower in my head!
nice to have super powers
too right kje! LOL
and good to know you can do with less meds... the pain must be abating somewhat
ok..showered..dressed..waiting for hair to dry a bit..eating my toast...and grabbing a few more words before work
yes dorens, it has really made a huge difference not having pain like i did after surgery... now all is much better thank you
GM carlee... you have made it further than me - I have eaten and had some coffee, but still in PJs and should get ready for work soon
morning kje...i have about 20 carboys of wine to filter this am... and its boring as all get out..taking my portable sudoku for the am
i am only drinking iced coffee, no food yet, still in pj's, but gloriously don't have to get to work. vive la summer vacation!
i better get to bed and rest up for my day of more sleep tomorrow!
sweet dreams mrp....
LOL MrP -
carlee, what is a carboy? thanks fro dropping in MrP. we all feel a lot better now, having seen you. take care
lovely dreams, mrp. So happy to see you recovering
Mrp wonderful to see you. Sleep well.
great to see you all and have a great day/night! will see you tomorrow! (hugs) and *kisses*... bye!
hello and goodby mrp
morning, Babblers. Mr P, how are you?
morning dan and angel
hello dan and angel
mmmmm nothing like tea and some toast with apple jelly:)
carboy...is the 23L glass jug you ferment wine in
{{{carlee}}} what is your favorite red wine?
23L. 20 of them? sounds like a lotta wine!
100 down - and must go get ready for work - see you all later
later, kje
my fav red wine... hmm..for just sipping...chianti...
later kje
carlee, have you ever put down some dandelion wine?? mmmmm
if with cheese and crackers..a nice chilean carmenere
what sort of wine are you making carlee?
no..i haven;t...but I have been reading about it..one of my clients came in other day with a small bottle of wine he made from welchs....had the "bouquet" of welsh...but was actually pretty darn smooth...
i make them all dorens..that my job...
interesting. I drink them all
I love chianti...I found after tasting so many different wines...I went back to my old favorite too
there also a really nice blend ..a gsm ( grenache, sirrah, mourverde -sp? )
chianti seems to be the "wine" of choice this year... for so lang has been shiraz... but this year we cannot keep chianti on the shelves
I do too, but my son got me spoiled drinking chianti classico - a bit more expensive, but smooth
ours all from do it yourself kits..customers can a: take it home to m ake or b: pay me to make it and come back later to bottle
we have a brunella... and u cannot touch brunella here for under 50.00 a bottle....and u get 30 bottles ofr 180.00
Do you ship to the U. S.?
i drink a brunello clone, from rabbit ridge, which is delicious, tastes like a 50 $ bottle but can be had for 13
npe... cant
how far are you from canadian border tho?
annie, we have to fly to canada to pick up carlee's brunello. how are your wings today?
I am going to try to get a bottle of brunello, want to taste it
there would be a winery that carries our product and u allowed to make here...and take across border...
how far from niagara falls are y ou?
see if you can get rabbit ridge annie, it's brunello clone and reasonable, but hard to find
dorens, hop on! We are off to Canada to see carlee and get brunello
dorens, just wrote the name and winery down, will try to get it
we're both near NYC (actually annie is in it). would actually drive her up there to see you and try the wine, but with gas being what it is right now, think we'll have to wait
dorens, that is quite a drive. I used to drive long distances but cant do that anymore. It would be a hoot.
well...was going to say... if u can plan 2 trips to niagara falls...one to pick your wine..and another 2 months later to bottle..u can make the same wines there ( am not in Niagara falls... but I think that the closest canadian border crossing foryou
let me know if you find it annie. I have a case in my cellar, and would glady give you a bottle.. and my daughter is actually moving to brooklyn, so maybe some day i can/will
dorens! where in brooklyn?
i like driving, but that is a bit much, particularly two trips!
williamsburg. where are you?
i can let you know the easiest do it yourselfer... and you spend a coupe days at the casino in niagara falls..LOADS of vineyards there to visit too..
i am chastising her.. right now she lives in Chelsea and it is a much easier trip. i drive in once a month or so to see her and if there's no traffic i can be there in 45 minutes. brooklyn will be another thing entirely
dorens, I am in Brighton Beach near the ocean. Williamsburg is becoming an upscale neighborhood. I think eventually all of brooklyn will because of its proximity to NYV
*NYC
maybe next summer we can plan something like that
brighton beach... why does that n ame seem familiar... was there a movie or a book?
exactly annie... she just couldn't afford manhattan, and even williamsburg is ridiculously expensive.
i've never been in brooklyn...
yes Neil Simon i think
carlee, brighton beach memoirs
Brighton Beach was the place to go in the 70s
maybe....
mornin babblers!
hi Evan
morning evaN.
morning eva...ok..gone to finish getting ready..and off to filter my wines...
( and tasts a bazillion..i need to hone my tastebuds..way too early but...duty calls)
enjoy the day carlee
bye carlee
*actual poof*
how are we all today?
bye
we are all fine, evan
zipping along on this grid. at least the beginning flew by. lots of interesting phantoms here too
annie. i just found bagel's relative in the grid!
dorens! I just had one with my coffee. LOL
really? how funny!
Hello all, tired here, another sleepless night
may I have a clue for the 8 please
brb
Hello peri! Why sleepless?
see you soon, dorens
don't know, Annie
i dunno about zipping along...but im getting a decent ST5 on it!
monkeys are somewhat busy this morning....but it's a fun grid!
my monkeys are swinging from tree to tree and making a racket
my monkeys are still in beed asleep...

ahhh merci Une - i missed you all as well...
:-D
Luc, haven't seen you for a while.
just zipping in and out--BBL *poof*
bye Une - haven't been around much bzz...
hi and bye, une!
ciao, une
Busy with other things?
i don't understand the stomach part of ST8 clue..."sniff, sniff"
was not feeling well for a while Bzz...and yes, busy with other things... sometimes, life interferes with Babble...a sacrilege I know but...
mommy, my tu*** hurts; shorten
nDan, if ound an ST7 from the stomach clue, but no 8
i do hope ur doing better, luc
pl
tx dan - that lead to ST7 but plural for 8
Feeling better and nothing serious, I hope?
oh, that plural *does* work. i only knew the -a plural.
things are looking up - tx dc
clue said stomachS
luc, glad you are feeling better and back in babbleland
& layerS
luc, i gather you do not see well w/out your glasses?
tx Annie...
what was the stomach clue?
st8 sounds like it means layers of upper atmosphere; end sounds like youngster saying stomachs
lol DC... actually, was looking for tu*** word for stomach but for the hell of me, i couldn't remember it... english is not my mother tongue after all....!
oh, my question was regarding your passport photo LOL
thx
that stomach word is a brand of calcium-rich antacid too :)
re-lol - true dc - we were NOT allowed to wear glasses - i hardly recognize myself...
If I were an immigration oficer, I don't believe I would allow someone looking like you to enter. =0
Feldspar, my younger cat, just climbed up on a stool, and tried to open the sliding glass door by pushing on the handle!
gee thanks Bzz !... but i agree with you "sigh"
Smart kitty, dc.
Preparing for your vacation at the beach, Luc?
actually, the photo looks much like the mugshots of the drivers we see at work. At least in the US, all ID photos are required to be unflattering. :D
Feldspar..hmmm reminds me of geology courses for some reason...
well, i'd rather she try to push the handle than pluck at the insulation holding the glass in :)
I named her for her flecked appeance. Jasper is named for the colour of his eyes.
yes Bzz, next month (SC) - lol dc re mugshots...
Holy MA's!
where in SC, montreal?
We are heading for the Crystal Coast of NC in a couple of weeks. Can hardly wait.
North Myrtle Beach dc - and hi Jandet !
oh, nice choice, luc!
and do enjoy, both Luc and Bea
Jandel* even... sorry !
morning, jandel
First time grandbaby will see the ocean.
Crystal coast ? - is that in the southern part of the state Bzz ?
ty dc
Yes. It is the part of NC coast that runs east and west.
oh ok bzz...
*grrrr* dontcha hate it when you USED to have someones email address + youre pretty sure you still have it SOMEWHERE but you just cant find it??
my sister likes Hatteras Beach along that bit, Bea
i hear you Eva...
Hatteras is up north. Crystal Coast is part that touches SC.
indeed, evaN
OOH! i found it!! i KNEW if i just dug deep enough i had it somewhere!!
my bad, bea, forgot the other cape (consulted a map) :) ty for the clarification.
wunderbar, evaN!
I have yet to visit Hatteras. Thinking maybe of a day trip there.
course, now i hafta call my birth mother + have what is sure to be an awkward conversation with her... (they all are, at least for me)
best w/it, EvaN
I went to NC once, to retrieve sister and family after a storm surge totalled their car
good luck Eva...
oh, got lunch once in NC on my way back from TN LOL
luc, ur flying down?
driving, splitting load with son-in-law - direct, non-stop going down, me driving thru the night - stopping at a hotel/motel on the return trip...
Does your sis live in NC?
no, Bea, here in Northern VA, she just vacations down there.
Long drive, Luc.
I see.
it's a long, but pleasant, drive, the NY part is especially nice. Coming through PA?
18 hours last year,,,and we were stuck for 2 hours on I495 b/c major car/motorcycle accident just ahead of us....
lotsa people from the DC area like to take vacations in OBX...in fact, my parents have rented us all a house down there for the first week of october...
One of the reasons I agreed to move to NC was it was closer to the beach than KS. =)
lol, bea
I want to live on OBX!
which 1-495, in DC?
Where at, Eva?
i used to go thru PA on I81 but son-in-law prefers I87... and it's his car...
hurricanes not worth it, better to live in Wilmington and visit, IMHO
Hurricane, smurricane.
I lived in Tornado Alley.
large 4-lane (or is it 6?) 495 going east and south around DC...
ah, you can take BW Parkway S to 295 S to 95S and avoid most of 495, luc, and save 45-60 minutes
im not sure this time around... last year, we stayed very close to Manteo. we have stayed in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Duck, Whalehead...all over the place! im not sure where they got the house this time, but i know its on the Whalehead side, even farther down!
so 95s, 95/495S, Balt-Wash Parkway S, keep left at the fork, follow through back to 95S/495E into VA
BW parkway ? is that Beltway parkway ?
BW Pkwy is the Baltimore-Washington Parkway
parlelles 95 tothe E in MD and DC
Parallels rather
ok thx DC - duly noted - will talk to son-in-law...
new bridge fully open on 95/495 from MD to VA, now it has as many lanes as the road does!

a few years ago, went to a community theatre performance, and they gave us each a kazoo coming in. At the end, we were asked to kazoo the Muppet them
My friend Mark, from Britain, was quite lost for a bit there at the end.
what fun!, dc
His Mark young Dsc, as the show was on out Tv's for sometime .
i grew up on the muppet babies...heh...also fraggle rock, but i was more of a muppet babies fan...
should have read Is Mark..
He grew up in Germany, only sometimes in England. He spent 4 years in the mid-90s in Newcastle, and a few years late 90s in Leicester, but otherwise in Germany, and for last 7 years, here in Maryland.
his dad was RAF
he's my age, late 30s.
I think he would have been in Germany when the show was initially aired here.
If recall correctly, the show woulds have been around in the late 70's early 80's.
yes, that would be about right, based on when it was broacast here
well that is me finished. Any clues required.I know many of you may have just begun.
i have strong memory of watching with my son when very pregnant with other.. would have been late 1978

Hapyy Tuesday, Babblephiles!
got it ty
hi judi
brb gotta give turtle 2nd dose
nice. just made myself an appt to have a physical done on monday afternoon.... time to get the fitness thing in full swing!
da 6/27 anyone?
Good morning everyone again...Hi Ardilla, you are here again? Or pherhaps you never left...
I am beside myself. Have lost my prescription sunglasses in their red plastic case. Have reached two of the three places I went to yesterday. No sunglasses. :( Waiting to hear from the third place.
I hope you find them Peri....or if not that you can get some that are just what you want. :(
I have looked everywhere. They are usually in my pocketbook, on the TV or dining room table.
Uh oh, peri. Babbling blind. Not a good practice.
I need to get my eyes checked but was not planning to get regular glasses and sunglasses.
You could get the photogray glasses (turn dark when you need them in the sun). Kills two birds.
Some places do have a 2 for one sale thingy...
will look into both suggestions, thanks
Judi, I had those as a kid and they drove me nuts because sometimes they went dark in a bright room!
True, Redturtle. I had that problem too. They have improved the technology within the past few years, though. Now you don't look like "Men in Black" when you enter a room with florescent lighting.
I suppose now the technology is improved!
I am wearing contacts for the moment...so I have the el cheapo sun glasses.
Yes, I am a contact wearer also. Wish I could do without them. But, I am as blind as the proverbial bat. Wish I could afford the Lasik surgery.
good morning dear all, am just logging in to let you-all morning types know we are all okay. Left Jillibus' house yesterday and will spend today driving south along the mainland of British Columbia toward Vancouver.
and peri, hope you find those glasses -- I cannot tolerate bright light ever and LIVE with my sunglasses!
Hi, Stid! Oh, I bet that drive will be very scenic!
I worry so much about the potential lasix problems....halos and stuff...
morning stid, godspeed
thanks stid and hi
morning Stid!!!
peri, i lost a pair of prescription sunglasses last year, hope urs turn up!
happily, my distance is nothing, so i could use any, just had trouble reading; i wear bifocals

BBS
Hello!
howdy phaeton
bbye
I'm back from the cinema!!!!!
back without a brb
hey momie
movie 2
good grief, enough ma,s in this one? lol
Check my icon to discover which film I saw today!!!!
was it good?
how was it? i was disapointed in "i am legand" guess i should not of read the book first:/
Seeing as it was Will, I thought it was bloody great
few years ago it was tom hanks who was the flavour of the month:)
forest gump,philladelphia
oops
I, Robot, I am Legend, Hitch, The Pursuit of Happyness, Hancock
private ryan was very good;)
I was very dissapointed with the movie version of I am Legend. The book carried so much more and the film didn't follow the books ending at all.
the fresh prince - lol - yay
indded
darn typos
I liked Will Smith in I am Legend
so much was missed,i agree
HGe played the role well but it wasnt true to the book
I liked him in I, Robot
I read the Memory Keepers
like when they took the story "flowers for algernon" and tried to do a movie
i heard somewhere that he is the least frightening black man - did y'all hear that?
I read "
Reading the book before seeing the film, really gave me tingly spine haiiy moments.
I read "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" and the TV movies was fluff
like tom goodwins story"the cold equasions"the movie did not stack up
i'm with you, fmitch--couldn't believe the major changes in the movie
i read too many good books for the movies to be of much use i guess:))
very rare for movie versions to stack up
one exception was Cold Mountain
cold mountain was good
Hi Une, It changed the whole plot really as the line from the book was soootremendously impatctful adn the film just went off at a weaker tangent.
hey une
hey, nance and fmitch :-)
I thought Will Smith was excellent but . . .
another solid adaptation was The Color Purple
and he played the role very well.
i liked Bagger Vance
oh, and I hated the movie version of Interview with the Vampire
terrible casting of the leads
I think the best book to film adaptation has to be 'Trainspotting'
that was an amazing movie!
With 'A Clockwork Orange' a close second
ohmygod, yes--saw Clockwork Orange when I was living in Paris
i was afraid to see that - weren't there drugs involved?
brilliant
nance! LOL
Interesting, that is neither a book or film I have seen but did read all about it in the press
Une - So did I!!!!!
seen and read
you saw it in Paris??
Yes, but it showed the negative aspects of drug taking, so it was anti drugs
not that i'm against drugs, but don't like to see needles in arms
re clockwork orrange and watched it again not that long ago - just to see what I remembered.
nance, it was brutal but soooo well done
brutal scares me
i remember it stayed with me a long time after leaving the theatre . . .
it's too real
dogs anxious to go out ... BBL :-)
bye - hb

Hi to you all. I am not really working this grid today, just putting in the odd word here and there. I'm not keen on large grids, too much like hard work
Hello ??
Hey Wren !
I'm here Auussie, just been back from Oz about a month, love your country
Well, after a weekend from hell, I need some sanity, so, here I am !!
Where did you go Wren ??
We had a week each in Canberra and Sydney, and three weeks on the Gold Coast
Lovely.... I was born in Melbourne, but have lived here in the UK for most of my life....
How did you have a weekend from hell? What happened?
Well, it wasnt me exactly, but I lived through it with my Sister. Thursday, my Nephew (who is 7), was taken to hospital from school, they thought he had had a seizure. It turns out, he had 2 strokes. His right side of his face has dropped, and he is paralyzed on his right side.
evening all!
Then, friday, my niece (my nephews sister) who is 6, was rushed to hospital, suffering from appendicitis.
we found our next house finally! Moving one suburb further out at the end of August
wow aussieme
then, saturday, my sister's almost-husband (they get married in september) had his works van stolen !!
then, saturday, my sister's almost-husband (they get married in september) had his works van stolen !!
OMG, poor little love, I didn't thinl one could suffer a stroke at such an early age.
Talk about a pants weekend !! That was Big Pants !!
love the icon aussie ;)
Yay Dan !!
It's just one durned thing after another. Life is a bitch
I know Wren.... I didnt either, but when my Sister phoned me, I thought she meant her almost Hubby, as his name is Robert too. I almost died of sock !
Thanks Pyro !
I keep going back to this icon, its one of my favorites !
sundial
oops !!! Oh Pants !
love yin yangs and dragons, but I tend closer to oriental than european dragons
I am dragon crazy !!
I have a collection of over 1000 !
wow I have a few, but nothing like that
Ha Ha, I was just about to pack it in, then you gave me another two words - that makes 29. I told you I wasn't really playing!
lol wren
I collect pewter figurines, called Myth and Magic.
Aussie! 1000! I dont think I have a thousand of anything except dollars.
There are over 1000, 1127 at last count Red !
I have more than that in baseball cards and 'Magic the Gathering' cards, but only have 3 pewter dragons
Pyro, do they have names on them ?
red.... if you ever want to part with some of those dollars, Ill be happy to accept... I only have 23of them right now
no aussie
evening all
**passes Pyro a million Babble Dollars**
Hey Dorens !
hey all
sorry ice, I'm sort of struggling a bit currently myself, but knowing it will soon pass..
not really collectors things, just some figures
Hi Saddy.
hi dorens and saddy
Hey Saddy !!
Red, how rare is it for a child to have a stroke ??
does anyone know the postage for a postcard in the states?
.27
23 cents i think dorens...
i stand corrected!
27 cents for first class according to post offices website
i just found some old stamps in my drawer... 22 cents each. and very pretty. guess I can just use two for a regular letter. thanks icey
Aussie, it is rare, unless the child has some sort of pre-existing problem.
27 cents for small ones, 43 cents for large ones !
now to find a five cent stamp
Post office dorens.
Thanks Red. Its just that my nephew, who is 7, has had 2 in a day !
logical place to look.... more sensible than my cupboards, thanks red
strokes aussie? a seven year old?
Did he have some sort of problem? Something they didnt know about? Like some malformed vessels int he brain?
Did he have some very high fever or something like that a few months ago?
Oooh, Dorens, I am sorry today i have come off as terse and i have not meant to...I am very very tired.
Red ,they are still doing tests and stuff !
Scrabbler would know more about it.
terse? not at all... no worries, red!
Yes Dorens, 7 years old....
I been trying to look for Scrabbs, she knows, but I wanted to update her. Do you guys think she will be here tonight ?
i'm sure they have good medical treatment for him aussie? was he the one who had some problems a few months ago?
Kids with certain problems can have strokes, but it is not common at all.
Is he doing alright?
No Dorens, that was my other nephew, he had meningitis...
Red, his right side is paralyzed at the moment....
His face has dropped and everything...
Oh no. Terrible.
oh this is alarming.... so sorry aussie
It may come back...
best wishes and hopes and prayers for hiim aussie
I have been down on my knees every night, hoping and praying...... Keeping everything crossed, wearing all my good luck charms, and I am at such a loss as to know what to do..... I can only be there for the family.....
Thanks Dorens...
Aussie there isnt much to do except be there for the family.
I know Red, but I feel so useless......
Is he getting specialty Pediatric care?
He is Red, there is a team looking after him.
Good. You can always bring the team coffee or donuts or something, they always appreciate it and oddly, i think it may promote better care.
though of course it shouldnt.
Aussie, Scrabbler is on line, I just looked, and she has an email address in her profile, if that is any use
He also has a physical therapist, trying to motivate his speech, which is quite slurred.
OOoooh, thanks Wrennie !
It's so unfortunate, Aussie, I am sorry!
Aussie... so sorry to hear that!!!! Our family has recently experienced a very traumatic event, so I know where you are coming from!!! My mother in law, a very spry 85-year-old was struck by a car, as a pedestrian, and subsequently lost her leg above the knee and broke the other one... now she is in a nursing facility close to us (she had lived 2 hours away) until she recovers enough to come and live with us! Poor thing. I will put your nephew in my prayers!
Aussie, I have to go walk dog, but best wishe to the family, and you and they will be in my thoughts.
and Mom, also.
ty... that is very nice!
Oh Mom2 !! I am sorry to hear about your Mom-In-Law..... {{{Mom2}}}
Thanks Red.....
Well, thank you... we are dealing... what else can we do??? It is crazy, though!
ok, I have to go for a while, but I might be back in later....... {{{Babble Group Hug}}}
okay - I'm back - just in time to put Aussies nephew and family and Mom's m-i-l in may prayers
You have to just deal Mom, its not fair though is it !
What a shame for a 7-year-old to have to go through something like this... I guess the good news is that kids do tend to be more resilient.
Thanks Lexie !
{{aussie}} {{MOM}}
yVw
LOL! You come here for diversion and get the sad tales of the day... sorry! Thanks for your prayers, though... every one of them counts!

nvm--duh, that word is safety for sanctuary-type meanings...
sanctuary, often called as****?
I need the D A 6/17 please?
the contraversy has always been about 'racism' with the symbols within the flag (read confederate flag)... check out the history of the Georgia flag and the history of the Confederate flag.... remarkable similarities.. like noone notices?
it's ok pam. at this time of day, and with the heat we had here, brains are not supposed to work perfectly
yes, that dorens..
da + double consonant + **e you lonesome tonight?
and plural
is there really a DA 6/17?
da 6/27 stid? da + *yan*** is the name of cambodia now
yes bernice, at least in lickety...
thanks again! :-D
sorry, i mean burma!
I think she meant da 6/7
i think it was DA 6/27, not 17
6/17 would be a mathmatical impossibility
oh gee, did I mis-type? sorry.
how about the Di 5/18?
no worries stid, i gotcha
do you mean because the one you show is the one that was repealed by referendum, ice?
di not well lit

i am happy to have ac today
aaaaahhhhhh
how sick pam?
oh gee pam! *sending healing thoughts to puppy*
Her name is Pearl. She is being treated for Advanced heartworm, has very dry skin with sores, and will need a re-do on eyelid surgery that a vet in Florida did poorly
Yes, dorens, I put the ac on in my bedroom
pam she is lucky to have you
Heartworm treatment requires absolute bedrest, but she is a couch potato, floor potato, actually, and does not move about.
central air!!! would die without it in TX
ok the one that was from 2001-2003 was voted on because the one I show was deemed racist (yes in 56 it was changed to the one I show for the sake of the confederate battle flag) so they did a dumbed down 'show it but only small little bs'.. noone liked that because they saw it was just a waterdown bin the name of being politically correct... now it looks almost identical to the stars and bars except the seal and 13 stars instead of 6 stars and noone is complaining?!
my dog when I was a child, Brandy -- she came to us with heartworm -- and we had her from the time I was 7 until I was 19. Pearl will be fine. *determined mama look*
gotcha, ice!
I need the third la 5/12, after the plural camel-like word

Good for you MR Pres but don't make your self ill by dropping them
not the antibiotics, I hope, mrp!
the antibiotics are on board for a couple of months... am dropping the rubbish pain meds
thanks for the si!
whew! But don't make yourself suffer -- it can delay healing, yesno?
yes jilli, but I am finding my state of mental health needs to be far away from the pain meds... they make me very upset and do not give me any confidence for my present or future
yes indeed, ty for the si, bzzz!
HUgs Mr PRes
your choice, mrp...
clue for the st 6/24, please?
thanks infern... I need hugs lately, and my kids are away til saturday, so will have to wait til then for my babies
but you can't avaoid all the hugs and good wishes streaming your way -- xoxoxoxo
:( But no kids means no stress. Sit back and enjoy the quiet even if it is too quiet
jilli, i know it sounds stupid, but i have been doing this for years, and the pain meds are morphine - very very bad for the mental health
I understand, mrp
thanks jilli! that is all I need!! it gives me warm feelings
st6.24 a pig pen & stel*** refers to twinkly things in the sky
Hello everyone and special hugs for MRP

MRP--can you take something to offset the side affects of the pain meds if you need the pain meds?
hi dan!! ((hugs))
I agree, jilli, a great cure
I am getting himself to go under the house on the weekend to see what heating ducts need fixing or replacing as there is warm spots on the floor and cold rooms
Jilli, and some others, you weren't here earlier when I mentioned Pearl, the foster dog I am caring for.
Good luck with that, herin!
how is pearl doing?
bbs -- going to get that warmed-up dinner. You knwo how it is when you're the hostess and can't taste anything you've cooked?
Its his job literally
Enjoy Jill
oh, good, herin!! that's a plus! (that it's his job)
pam -- missed that -- what about it?
YEp. He works for an aircon/heating place
Oh--I am fostering a dog, Jilli. Pearl. She is 4 and being treated for advanced heartworm.
Oh, I thought he was in computers, for some reason, LOL, herin
O gawd, pam!
What type of dog, pam?
Oh no Pam. That isn't cureable is it?
Nope hes a nerd but uses his brain for other things
yes, it is!
it can be cureable, herin
It is treatable, but so preventable it shouldn't be so prevalent herin
i've had two dogs that came thru the treatment just fine!
She is a pit bull, bzz, my breed of choice
OH i didn't realise that it was cureable thats why i asked. Long time ago my dog died of it. Thats why i asked.
The hardest part of the treatment is keeping them quiet for so long.
OH Pam is she a gentle soul?
She is a cruelty rescue. Her heartworm is advanced and her skin is a mess, but can't be scraped until she is safely out of the heartworm treatment. next injection in 3 weeks, then the oral treatment for the baby worms
oh dear -- pit bulls are going through such a trial these days (and "similar" breeds) -- don't get me started!
they USED to say heartworms were seasonal but no longer!
clue for the tu 6/7 combo? please....
I know, bzzz. Fortunately, she likes to lie about--she was an outdoor dog--ick, don't get me started--and the comforts of indoor life are new to her!
Pit bulls should not be banned here but idiot owners.
Glad you had two that were successfully treated, une
Hear hear, herin
Pam i bet she is spoilt rotten.
Show me a bite, I say, and I'll show you an irresponsible human, herin
one was a looooong time ago and one was a foster who's now my very own :-)
Tu not lady but ??? and an eye plural for the 7
tu+ dif. spelling of opp of gentleman
pam, i totally agree
I'm glad you are all sensible people and now I really am going to enjoy my coq au vin
love those foster failures, une!
yum! enjoy, jilli!
indeed, pam :-)
Pam i agree. Everyone i speak to says my g.f should put down her dog as she hates kids but its not her fault she had rocks thrown at her by kids as a pup
enjoy, jilli
Une i am glad your dogs pulled through
*cul8r* *cul8r*
ach
thanks, herin :-)
as long as your friend can manage her dog, and prevent interactions that set her up for failure and kids up for harm, herin
thanks, herin and bzzn!
hi, eie
Pam indeed. The dog is muzzle trained in public for her safety and others. The other dog she owns is harnessed. Both dogs are trained not to touch things when out. The big mastiff is trained to mouth only. He ate the cat the other week. Mouthed it
Cat was fine dog was fine and the owner, busted finger and a slashed finger and neck
wow, herin. Glad the owner is responsible, herin! Ouch on her finger, but glad the cat is ok
just dropping in to say hello to all you late night babblers (OK, late for me - LOL)
Cat had it coming. Its a little psycho. He egged the dog on by attacking him at every opportunity and the mastiff is a gentle soul
LOL, kje. But aren't you Cali, visiting?
Night KJE
LOLOL, herin
One word left. ta5/14 after the most sour cherry?
not yet pam - not until the 22nd... can't wait!!!
Oh, kje, I am so confused, LOL
ta + eye infection bump
Pam in Melbourne they class Pit Bulls as a banned dog. Sad
or... ta + pig's home

Opps Gwen that sucks about your car
ty kje!!
need de 5 clues please.........keep those clues comin.
belief in & one who believes in god
de = someone who believes in a non-personal god
other de = noun for same belief
huh? religious? dont get it.
tx, herin, still saving up money roght now
think latin for god
mkg, it rhymes with a th6 with a similar meaning
must be a christian term. cuz i dont get it and i am not christian. a believer is a believer in god. no?
dont see th 6.
mkg, oh, no, there are thousands of hair-splitting terms! (only half joking)
st6/24 (the 2nd one, after unowned dogs)?
not christian
th6 is not in the grid, it's a clue for the de5
got one word but not other one.
oh got the other. ty ty
i'm not christian either, but i know the history
dont think i knew those terms. interesting. i knew that a god can be called a de***, that is all.
think latin; think of english as subject - device used in Gk plays for intervention of god
ty for all clues.
wandered----yes, lbd, I am sure that maxine's list is filled with some issues for some people, lol
Book i was looking at your bookstore
right now a great big moth is somewhere in my apartment. freaked me out, then settled somewhere, not sure
herin, need any books? 8-)
need di 5 18 and then i have di 6 24 but cant get the 7s after it.
kje, I think those beasts are being raised in lots of places... so weird
but i just spotted a sizeable spider so i'm gonna let 'em duke it out LOL
Yes. I need Interview with a Vampire and The Vampire lestat hard cover don't care about inscriptions or first eds
i have one di7 = plural for di6 = dreary and sad, like a rainy day
di 6 24 describes a swamp
st6/24 anybody? I have the unowned plural
herin, you want fiction, you're on your own LOL (however, you can prolly find inexpensive copies at tomfolio.com
2nd di 7 36 is to take the sail holder off a ship
look
looking now. i did order of Bookwoman the other day
swamp is disgusting. dont see that one.
cool! all independent bookdealers thank you 8-)
just curious, bdg, do you read fiction in your "down" time, or are you a non-fiction person through and through?
stuck on the STs right now myself . . .
Agreed, bdg. Down with the megabookstores...
ty got the two di 7 words. but not the first di 5 18. clues welcome! and missing the last di 6s both of them after the di 7s.
pam, i have a brain disorder that makes reading fiction almost impossible. i read mostly history. right now reading a "making of" about the new Doctor Who series
got the last di 6.
Yes indeed. I buy from Swords and Sorcery (independent) or op shops or Cult books
gwen, is that a joke about brain disorder?
i buy books from almost everywhere except the mega-stores. yech!
mkg, not a joke. it's called asperger's syndrome
Interesting description, bdg! I just finished Nixonland last week. Should be fiction for all the harm...
Frequently seen licking books at Borders
I did not realize you have asperger's , bdg.
after that i have a biography of bernard herrmann lined up
herin, don't lick the books!!!
i know aspergers. that prevents reading fiction? i thought it was a social disorder. i mean that you dont get social clues.
*pops head into chat* did you find the st 6 you were looking for? Or were you st****d in your search?
The best bio I have read in a long time was Enstein...
woo hoo firewords! thanks all cluers
Ok ok
s'okay, pam, it's not a big deal to me, except when people expect me to be somehow "normal" and I'm not 8-)
yay dan and all finishers
fruittart who asked for it?
i probably need it.
hey Fruit yah dan
still missing di 5 18 if anyone there has it.
Book that makes you normal to you
Understood, bdg, understood.
And if we were all normal life would be borring
herin, of course. not one of the 10-odd "experts" who saw me as a child ever figured it out, though. thus i have little respect for psychologists and whatnot
what is normal??
gwen, i dont like fiction. i feel it is a waste of time. that is why i t hought it was a joke. i read biographies, history, autobiographies and love them.
THERE IS NO NORMAL.
hey everyone!
i enjoy fiction, but not to read. i like fantasy and scifi movies and tv a whole lot
ok all, need that di 5 18 sooooooooooooooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!cant get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
Hi lind and these St words dont excist
mkg, reading fiction for me is a huge waste of time. every sentence twice, sometime three times, just to get the sense out of it. exception: kurt vonnegut makes sense to me 8-)
hey herin, how ya doin?
good evening everyone. back to finish my last 78. I am not liking this grid.
hi bookwomen
hi there bookwomen!
very interesting. each brain is so unique. so unique.
Hey Book. Just talking about me getting books from you
anyone out there have the di 5 18????????????
LInd cold and trying to move my butt to the shower
cold sounds wonderful herin - it is 30 degrees here and humid as he**!!
hay, lamay isnt here. does anyone recall the fabric lamay? wasnt it spelled that way?
They are on the way. Put them in the mail this morning.
sorry, mkg, me neither
Hmmmmm, some fiction speaks truer to me than non-fiction... vonnegut, good philip roth, j d salinger, jodi picoult, chris bohajalian, william faulkmer....
lame, mkg
looking at my list now MKg
Yah thanks Book. A friend wanted a copy too
the e has an accent on it, mkg, but I can't figure the accents out in chog, 8-)
for "killing time" type pleasure i have DVDs and stuff.
pam i need the de word. not the di....
i prefer reading to movies still.
Di 5 not so bright di light room
oh sorry i need the di word not the de. got it wrong. tired.
I read voraciously and broadly, and I like the mix--mysteries (scandianvian), bios, history
pam, do you have the word? di 5 18?
mkg, I was just telling you how lame--the clothing--is spelled
Di 5 not so bright di light room
like the word after it but what is ending?
ty for the di 5
oh pam sorry i misunderstood. lame. ok
I just clued it i have no idea if there is any other di 5 words i am not wearing my glasses
back in 10 need a shower
i have been under the weather and reading trash has been making me feel better.
herin, i think it is the right word but i cant get last two letters. the basic word is 3 letters.
oh got it. now i see it.
ty herin
need la 5 12 the third one please. want to finish already.
mkg do you still need the di5-18?
glad that you are reaping the benefits, bookwomen. What are you reading? After Nixonland and Netherland, I could use a good trashy book!
this grid is getting annoying . . . stuck with 39 to go!
I am sorry, book, though, that you are under the weather--or feeling that way...
la5, a type of female "monster", rhymes with eastern continent
when I say trash I mean trash. I have been reading Jackie Collins and Nevada Barr for mysteries. One my more serious pile I am reading a Bio of Carmel Snow and a history of the Waldorf Astoria.
yes this grid is annoying.
wow. and that's making you feel better? damn! LOL
Nevada Barr has been suggested to me, book... hmmmmm maybe i will try her books...
LOL, bdg!
i once tried a mystery novel, got to page 3, quite an accomplishment for me LOL
need la 5 12 please. i may have missed the clues
la5 is a baby sheep (three letters) + two vowels
i got the di 5 ty. but dont get the one clue for the la 5. monster? not getting it.
I went into the hospital suddenly and I had to send my husband home for stuff. I asked him to bring some Nevada Barr books and he brought them all. I did read three of them but the nurses were amazed at all the books in my room. I do like reading the Barr books in order so you might start with Track of the Cat.
ty got the la!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just monkeyes the tu6 and 7 hey hey
monkeyed OY
Thanks, book!!!!! I like reading books with the same protagonist in order, too. Hiaasen was the most recent I plowed through
