My first dog was CH. Quivera's Shadow DanceMaster, aka DIsco...purebred Min. Schnauzer...I had baked a batch of choc chip cookies for work one morning and set them on the dining table to take with me, went in for my shower, and when I came out dressed for work, no cookies...made sure the doors and windows were locked then went looking...thought I had a brain lapse when I spotted Disco laying on the floor coveringthe bag...he had chewed through (cuz he couldn't undo the zip top!) and had eaten every single speck of cookie to be had...I kenneled him up, thinking if he's going to be ill, he'd do it in a contained space, and if he's gonna die, it'll be easier to carry him away to the vet...(I'm terrible, yes?) when I returned home from work, it was as if he hadn't done anything....I had him for 5 yrs before I had to put him down...contracted Valley Fever...microspore that attckes the spinal and nervous system diables horses and dogs...no cures, just expensive meds..back then anyways...

My children were not angalss by any means of the imagination, but by the time they were adolescents, they could cook, and do laundry, I was so adamant that my son would not expect a woman/ partner to do his chores.
I was speechless and wanted to smack her. But I was calm and reminded her that babies and children are completely dependent on us--what a concept.

thanx scrabs. the dr's told her she has anything between 9 months ( without chemo ) and 4-5 years with chemo. as she has two adorable girls ages 10 and 12, she has taken the hard choice of having the chemo.
That is what she must do--her girls need her!!
i know scrabs, but she can be very wilful at times, she refused her second course of chemo 8 years ago, it broke my heart when she did. her initial diagnosis was stage 4 cancer, and i know you can't just walk away from that!
My friend with brain cancer is struggling---is so debilitated from chemo that she must stop chemo and get rehab for 4-6 wks in the hospital. She is distraught and wants to be with her kids (8, 4, almost 1). It is heartwrenching.

She is suffering so much and is crying so much.

I am doing whatever I can to help, but I feel so helpless to comfort her. How do you help someone face their death when they also have to say good-bye to their husband and 3 little kids? It is unbearably sad.

And I don't want to say good-bye to her either--she is a sweet, loving person and incredible mother to her kids.

i agree with sprite, scrabs. back up her family as much as you can, in any way you can, me, i've organised a roster, so that my friend and her family have a home-cooked meal everynight.this means her hubby doesn't have to think about meals, and other parents form the school have organised the girls' lunches.
