Well my g.f found her behind a bin (see my flickr for size) when she was a palm sized princess. As she couldn't have a cat another girl took her. This sub human then lost her house moved into a caravan with her and lost interest in the kitten. She was always hungry and had a dirty litter box most of the time. She would yowl alot as she was so lonely. We took her in at about the 6month mark. She gets awfully unhappy if she loses us in the house. If she sees us and then we vanish (go back to bed) she yowls

Trike arrived last night. Feels like riding a regular bike! I can sit up instead of hunching over uncomfortably! It's in great shape! I will be painting it Tliggit and Haida style, so today Walter "helped" me paint it white. Thanks for the explosion clue.

secondo is enjoying a rare sunday at ballet school. They are doing the cutest thing - a Nutcracker Tea, where little ones can come in and try on tutus and get their photo taken with girls from the cast. Secondo is dressed up like the chocolate dancer from spain, and she looked a TREAT in the costume.

We're urban, on the edge though. The deer sightingw as VERY rare. But the ticks are in the dunes and the grasses, and they get on the dogs. We use Frontline but I remain vigilant. Now it's too cold though; this is a summer and fall problem.

Really lucky, plus I think they may have been after the cabbage farm over that way. There is still LOTS of browsing, and the populations are so on the edge that they have reintroduced wolves to the dunes just back of us. They aren't close enough to hear yet but there are mnore of them this year, so eventually I can look forward to hearing them sometimes.

The wolves will be eating deer, rabbits, mice, hares, maybe hedgehogs, squirrles. They live in the dunelands and forest. There is nowhere else for them to go. These are the same wolves that were prevalent in these same woods and dunes until about 100 years ago. It'll be fine. Also the forestry service is seriously on the ball.

Now the forestry servioce is using the edges of these woodlands to rehabilitate nearly lost sheep breeds, and are breeding a copy of the aurochs. God help any woldf that tries to tangle with one of these proto-aurochs. There are some by Walter's school on the edge of a preservation fieldland. Scary things.

The next plan is to reintroduce the European brown bear to the biggest national forest. There, the boar have got completely ot of hand. They are a protected species, and there are so many they are starving and invading farmland in Very Large Groups, and even wandering across freeways. The bear was what was keeping them in check.

I guess for me it comes down to why the wolves and the bears were eliminated. If they were being shot by farmers, was it because they were damaging livestock, or the farmers just *thought* they might, so the killed them anyway?

I'm in Phoenix, Peri...I just fed the poopies some of my oatmeal, which they always love...even without a sweetener...didn't have any brown sugar, so I added some maple applesauce to mine....they eat th6 plain

oops - surgery in July - then was doing some walking on the treadmill in October - and got a stress fracture....
The stress fracture recovery I am familiar ith as I have created several, but hopefully no more.
I feel better now - and have been working on Pilates a bit. Neede to lose a great deal of weight before I'll be able to run like I did - but it will come

started baking cheesecakes some 30 years ago (for mom) - when I was pigeon-holed into only taking cheesecakes for pot-lucs, I decided to show other skills in making salads, and meals,,,the hardest part is meat - I used to burn steaks, but now am mostly into roasts and such that take hours to do...I have catered 2- 3 10th anniversary dinners in the past year...appetizers, meals and desserts, along with the drinks...if there's a recipe I can do it...

for the cheesecakes, yes, for the rest, I haven't 'cause they've been for family and friends...I did cater a Thanksgiving dinner for the office back in '93 I think, where folks just chipped in to offset my costs. I started working for the state in 1988, and by the 5th year had been making Thanksgiving dinner for MY staff, when a few others heard they crashed and the following year I said I do it for all, but only if they paid or contributed... It was a great year...and since then people who know me have heard of the meal that took place in the Governor's conference room....even had to sneak in the fake wine!

well, two careers back i was a book doctor. basically an editor who has to fix up bad manuscripts really fast because the publisher bought them before giving them a close look

(after that i was a bookstore manager, now I'm a used book dealer)

My dog does not shed too much, but he is still young.
I've been told [since I am very allergic to animal hair] that even though there is a Poodle mix [like a Goldendoodle] that you cannot predict wether it will shed or not
The only bad thing about Cavaliers is that they don't have a very long life span.They live to be 9 -12 years.
more than likely they will shed, just not as much as a pure breed
Hmm, well she does give off a hair or two now and then, but we don't notice because we already have a Pekignese Pomeranian mix who sheds bucket-loads.
Hopefully, one that's mixed will have a longer life span

my mother used to warm up a little bit of olive oil. providing the eardrum hasn't ruptured, it equalizes the pressure on the eardrum, which lessens the pain
you can also use a hair dryer to blow warm air into the ear. I know it sounds weird, but it works
or a warm wet washcloth placed behind the ear and on the neck
this is his second infection in a month green. the first one was about to rupture. this one looked pretty bad too, and he's had the cold several weeks.

We talking ears? I'm an expert -- scarlet fever age 5, before antibiotics. Went to ears, burst left eardrum, then mastoids. 5 operations, 2 years of weekly cauterisation with tricholorocetic acid (which I learned to pronounce) until healed, written up in medical journal, caought in a breaker at age 13, burst the drum again. Now impaired in that ear although bone conduction excellent. Other ear excellent. Wanna know any more?
