hug, the repairman came today and fixed washer! (good news) Daughter had to take instruments to a hospital 74 miles away (usually takes 1 hour 20 min travel time)... today because of numerous accidents and ice, it took her 8 hours!!!!

I was pretty scared for her... thank the Lord for cell phones... her dad was able to keep her calm on the hands free phone, and once she settled down, we just chatted with her to help her not be afraid
her trip over was 3 hours... trip home 8... arrived home at 1:40 AM our time

miracle of cell phones when they are handsfree--- she said it felt like someone was in car with her, so helped take the pressure off... so I am a firm believer there is a place for phone use in cars
they are thinking of totally banning use of them while driving over here
here, too, but really think it is a mistake to ban them totally... when we drive and have passengers we talk, so I don't see any reason not to allow handsfree sets

it is, Dee, we have been leasing our tree for many years now. About 95% of their trees survives, which is very good in my opinion. Only 'problem' is you cannot cut out the top of the tree and you are not allowed to use spray-on snow. We don't have any problem with that though.

you can pick up the tree right after sinterklaas (dec 5) and they must be returned in the first week of january. I don't know the price in US dollars. They charge about 15 euro for a small tree, up to 45 for a huge one. And when you return your tree in good shape, you get a discount voucher for next year for about 1/3 of the price you paid.

Dee - don't mean to jump in, but we did it a few years back... don't remember the exact cost but I don't think it was too expensive and we kept our tree... replanted it in the spring and it's growing in the backyard at our old house

exactly. I may have told this before, but it was so shocking to me: he once had to take a kid to the HEMA store, buy him an alarm clock and show him how it worked and when to use it. The kid had really tried to get up in time but overslept often. Never even realised there were AIDS for getting up in time.
Sprite that is amazing! My Poor 6 yr old nephew is getting his first alarm clock for x mas this year. It has a lot of bells and whistles.

i once started at noon on the 24th,drove to a town a hour away,had a hours time before i was kicked out of the mall,drove to another small town 20 min away,had 15 min before they shut the doors,drove 1 hr 15 min back to my home town,had someone sell me a bottle of thier booze cause the liquer store was closed 1 minute ago,found out i forgot paper and tape,made it to a dollar store with 20 minutes to spare,got wrapping paper and stocking stuffers,found out i was running on fumes and made it to the last gas stn in town that was still open,hit the macs milk for orange juice,bread and eggs and stumbled through the door dirty,wet and still in my work clothes at 8 pm:))

My fiance went out to check the mail, and was a bit early, and she chewed him out for rushing her (he hadn't said a word, just saw her still there, turned and started to walk back)...as far as mail fraud goes...well, I used to work in a shipping facility and see much worse on a daily basis.

Merry Christmas all! popped in to see what's cookin', since I'm being a bit lazy and don't want to start the last cheesecake, but eventually it'll have to happen if I'm to keep my friends...:) I rather enjoy baking and gifting cheesecakes, 'cause then I don't have to buy stuff that'll wear out or break...everyone needs to eat, might as well be something good!

well, I have allergies, so can't have "real" cheesecake PAV... I just love any kind really -- we use a soy-based cream cheese and sour cream alternative

I think stevia is nice.
cow, sheep, goat gives me eczema, haven't had venison since I was a child so don't know how it or elk would affect me.
and yes, that's NOT a lactose intolerance!

I am allergic to nuts and you would be surprisse as to how many bakery employees don't have a clue as to what the ingredients are in their products
I once made a meatloaf for a friend who was allergic to nuts...he swelled up...it turned out the bread I used had nuts in it....
oh ruru -- yes, seems nuts are in lots of things. you want the real kicker now pav? I am developing a similar allergy to wheat... but okay with spelt (so it's not a gluten allergy)
I use Stevia for the sweetener, not so much aftgertaste and holds up to baking, unlike most other sugar substitutes...but wait, you CAN have sugar?

I lost a friend in high school when he went mountain biking. He was wearing a helmet, but it was defective and when he crashed it strangled him. I still miss him.
