Bye all
How many words do you have so far, Jilli?
150, JC -- and you?
using Lickety
Well, as usual you're doing better than me! :/ I only have 147, so far. :P
Yes, same here . . .
but I'm about to crash
I got half-way then had to go to the list . . .
I allow myself to go to the list when I get nbt
thanks for the icon clue jilli, didn't know there was so many ways to spell the word, mind you they may different meanings.
I see . . . well, I hardly ever have that, without the list, which shows you're much better than me! :/
Yes, MayneGuy - I suspect they do have different meanings. Never looked them up, yet . . .
yw, MGuy -- the ?s say they are the same meaning
and there's also the roof of the mouth, which isn't here
Oh yes, of course Jilli . . .
Wasn't even thinking of that - but I am fairly certain that is spelt differently again, isn't it?
With 'ala' in it . . .
yes, quite different. JC, you do know you can get meanings (if there are any) by clicking on the ? beside the owrd?
the word
yes, "ala"
Oh? No, I didn't know that . . .
Oh yes - I see that now! :) Very good - thanks, Jilli! :)
quite welcome, JC :)
:)
Well, that's it for me -- too pooped to party. 155 words found, 109 to find tomorrow if there's time. Happy babbling, all, and I bid you good night.

Good night, Jilli - sweet dreams! :)
mmm...nice breakfast...and back to tackle the grid
whoot, started this grid with gusto, but slowing down a lot now!
Hi Kangabrat . . .
hi jc : )
I was doing the grid while we had ours, rolin - isn't that bad? :P
Laptop on the table . . .
only bad if you get breakfast in your keyboard, jc.
lol..nah j.c.....ive done that before...i bought a little notebook not so long ago..tiny enough to sit on the side of where im eating...sad...but true
HAHAHA, true Kanga - and so far, that hasn't happened. I'm very careful . . .
That's when you know you're a true addict, rolin . . .
As I am with all word games and puzzles!
as addictions go, jc....
Yes . . .
oh me too... a couple of years ago we went to instanbul..and i popped up from there to play babble..some ppl couldnt understand why i would bable while on hols..
There are much worse addictions one could have, though!
many, many worse! as i keep telling the other half...
but to me...hols are about relaxing as well as 'doing'...and spending all morning and half the afternoon doing..should be followed with a little sit at the keyboard babbling
Why not, rolin? It's easily done, with laptops . . .
Hotels all having internet service now, for guests.
I get online when I'm on the road.
oooho and t-mobile called me last week saying they can give me a 3g stick for everywhere connection ...for £10 a month
Yes indeed, rolin! ;)
im trying very hard to resist....
Ooh very good, rolin - take them up on that!
No, resistance is futile - you will be assimilated! ;)
lol.. ya know... i just cant equate you with a cyberman
HAHAHA . . .
oooooh camden is reopening this w/end...yay!!
just 20 to go ... can i get it done before kids starting screaming for dinner?

there is 2x sn tiles in this grid
sn + don't t*** this secret. 7 is comparative
rolin, some of the SNs come from the upper right S. That's what you're not seeing.
oooohh..im working from the wrong s...ty sprite

My goodness, the things Google will find for you. It is amazing isn't it
I just kind of drifted
a streetcar named desire
hi BabRab
thanks bab
oh yes it is. "brando famous cry" gave me a whole series of hits, didn't even have to open a link. How did we manage before google? ;)
hello, lyn
in ignorant bliss, at least for me
hello herin
OH my goodness i didn't see that at all
hehehe, indeed BabbleRabble. Still, school would have been easier for me when I could have googled. My kids cannot imagine life without it, but I remember well the long long afternoons in the library, trying not to get distracted, finding all necessary info!
I still love my books
I love reading. But I like having immediate access to practical info.
Good morning/evening all. Thank you for the clue, lynxxx and yes, google helped. I was trying to find 'I could have been a contender' and failing.
hi Haz
good morning Haz
I agree, sprite, but we're still reading when we're accessing google. It just doesn't feel as worthy or something.
Hello lynxxx
Sometimes i forget the internet and go the book but i love google books for my essays. Hi Haz
should have said 'love reading books'.
Hello herin.
Lots of Jackson Pollock words today.
am enjoying this grid so very much
"please explain"
It's very nice.
my icon is a clue for those, lyn
Is that an Sp?
Yes, sp words with nice variations.
oh, lol. I thought Jackson Pollock might have been rhyming slang
thanks I didn't think of that just the long version
*unpoof* just changed my icon to a clue. Sprite I am trying! *poof*
you rock, dinok! :)
hi/bye Dinok
Bye dinok.
the pa7/8 could be Jackson Pollock also - although I doubt he used one
*wonders if the meaning of the 8/9 is the same*
or the pa8/9 too lynxxx
hi FM!
Good morning FM.
Evening lynxxx :)
TY for the tip
nope, the 8/9 is armor
wow I just got an 8 by monkeys
Oh Morning Haz, sorry didn't see you there am still zooming though the first run through, excellent grid today.
He probably wore the armour for protecting himself from too much sp8
I reckon Jackson could clue lots of words today.
reasonable assumption
same vowelless word as yesterday, guess people didn't listen
Does anybody know if he was particularly pa4/5?
Sorry I don't think of that Sp 8 a paint thing rather than the thing that happens after i beat my classmates heads together
I have 8 variant sp of that p word!
he may have been the most pa4/5 of all, Haz
Starts feverishly counting.
hey all
hi bfsog
hi Bfs
8 variations rounded up.
morning bf
Good morning bf.
hi bfsog
8 varients of the Sp 8 and its friends?
too many P & S's, think I'll leave them for last
yes lady, different meanings, some, but very close spellings
No, 8 variations of the pa word, as used by artists and forklift truck drivers.
wow
fireworks, thanks to lyn
Congratulations sprite!
congrats sprite!
Congrats Sprite!
truly and thoroughly enjoyable grid today. May I be of assistance to any of you before I go?
Loves Sprite. I am just grateful to see you Sprite
I'm okay, thanks.
I am sure Terra is waiting for a play, we can't hld you up. Have a lovely day Sprite
Not for me thanks, am still finding words.
thanks all :) Enjoy and thanks for the nice company.
Bye sprite.
OH how is terra puppyu
Ha ha found the volcano!
No god of love, you can't be greedy.
lol, I am happy enough with the fact one of my first words was the ps7!
nice one
You can be smug all day with that.
*grin*
Did it set you singing?
not quite but I was taken back to school days and the choir ;)
hi Josh
I could say something about tunics and dancing, but I won't.
hi herin
*kicks Haz discreetly*
Discreet 'ouch'.
hehe
Well 30 left after 1st run though, very nice grid but I must tear myself away as I have things that must be done. Happy Babbling!
Have a good day, FM. See you later.
so far found 2 words that use th "M"...anyone got any more?
For sure :) TTFN
I've only got two as well, ishult.
probably all ther is?!?!
Possibly, it's limited as to what can precede the m.
why am i up - back later to finish
Sleep well, josh.
Taking quick break, back shortly.
great grid. i have 15 to go with no aids, found all the p's by myself...
Hi Hurshy

Whee! 'Nuther biger-ish grid. g'd mornin'
hi Lori...but a sight easier
Good. I see, because I cleared up that 'o' like easy peasy! :p
Ooh, and the l. Clearly I have semi genius potential.
you are leaving Densa?!
Love the icon, Lori. Just passing through on my way to undertake some death-defying tasks upstairs.
Hi again
Heavens no Lynx! DENSA if my forté, as founder i have responsitilities. :)
G'd morning Haz, I thought you might like it. :D
I'm cooking (!!!!) BBL
Oh I do. it makes me feel all proud for daring to take the risk.
Death defying? Can't find any small children to dangle out the windows to clean them properly?
See ya' in a bit Lynx.
Too early, no coffee, I'm clueless. The first an 4,4 please
HI Merk
No, Health and Safety are on my case, darn neighbours have no sense of loyalty, they can't see the character building potential of children abseiling.
G'd morning Merk, no idea I just started.
Hi, I just turned the other way and got it.
How is everyone this morning? So far I love the grid.
Haz, so typical. Too soft nowadays.
Life's good Merk, you too I hope.
Yes, indeed. I get to see my grandchildren today.
ready to go into my bed.
Much too soft. So, I just have to get on with it myself. Wearing a crash helmet is murder on the hair style, unfortunately.
Oooh, yea! Enjoy!
Use a squeezy mop haz
I'll say goodnight to you, herin, good morning to Grandma Merk and see you later to Lori.
I will ... and next week I start babysitting one for ten days. I might not get here as much.
That's sad Haz. As an aside Gmail is irritating this morn.
I have a new tile floor. How does one go about cleaning/washing it safely. I'm not worried about the bathrooms, but the kitchen ...
Happy house .... whatever that word is. :D Laters
Oh, is someone besides me having trouble with their gmail? I'm relieved to hear that it is not just me.
Bye for now.
hi and bye hazel
Hi carlee. Yes Merk, gmail is a useless entity here this morn, neither sneding nor receiving. You too?
I'll check again in a bit, see if it's behaving
hmmmm..no idea re: g.mail..have yet to check....
Hi Carlee
Oh oh oh! They fixed their glitch I guess. For now it's working at least.

HI Ish

morning ish!
Good morning kids! I am getting ready for weekend trip. I will miss Babble and my buddies.
oh herin, did I tell you? tertiare asked if she could get her ears pierced last week. so we got them done. then next day, secondo decided she wanted hers done. Primo watches her having it done, and then says "well, we might as well do mine too, while we are at it!" All three kids, in 24 hours. Six little ear holes!!! Tertiare is beyond thrilled, as she was the trail blazer. First time she has done something first.
in theese troubled h1n1 times, there is nothing finer than celebrating all that is bacon!:) wtg trif!:)
YEs you did
and we will miss YOU scrabbler! love to see that little green bunny of yours
Big week, Trif! 3 daughters?

I thought so, Trif. Just wanted to verify when you wrote about the ears.
I told him ears were fine, but he couldn't pierce anything he wouldn't show me.
86. Neuroendocrine tumor. Lungs, liver, bones. He is comfortable. I have 2 pairs of aunts-uncles, all late 80's.
is he going for treatment, or just hospice?
told my boy he can do anything he wants with his hair, but no tattos or body shrapnel till he is on his own
lol trifs. Sorry to hear that Scrabbler
sorry to hear that scrabbs.so it is pallative only then
They are inspiring folks, enjoying life and still living at home. They are my mother's bro + sis and their spouses. The Italian side of the family. My mother's parents immigrated from Italy almost 100 yrs ago.
Some radiation to shrink large tumor pressing on kidney, otherwise palliative care.
I told primo he can't look like he fell in a tackle box. HATE that
LOL, Trif--tackle box.
does he seem okay with the news, scrabbler?
I mean, no one is excited, of course, but somehow you make it sound like he has come to peace with it
Some anger--wants to be home but is too weak and my aunt (89) cannot take care of him by herself. He is in a Masonic Home for now.
is it near your aunt, so she can visit him when she wants?
I will find out this weekend how he is coping. Yes, not far from home.
blessings to you all, scrabbler....such a sad thing.
And their daughter, my cousin, lives in town too.
OK, I must shower for tennis. I will leave this afternoon with another cousin and 1 of my sisters may be able to join us too. I will return Sunday evening. Say hello to Babblers for me. I will miss you all this weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all!
you know, aknitter lost her brother to cancer, and she has a very different view on things, that I find really inspirational. She has worked as an oncology nurse for years, also. She thinks in a way, people who know death is coming have an advantage over those that don't. They get to say their good byes, make any amends they deem necessary, etc. I see her point, but it is still sad, death
bye scrabbs!
tc scabbs and kiss those bunnies for me;0
Bad crossie

I have a way way worse photo of me with the burn, but it shows my bum, so I don't think I will flickr it...you understand.
it really is a gasping photo though - looks like I am wearing a white bathing suit
secondo and I are both really very fair, so we were stringent with sun screen, but got distracted snorkeling one day, and didn't realize we had been in the water for over an hour. snorkeling is so dangerous that way - you *think* you are okay, because you are in the water, but really you are just floating along, back out of the water, and sizzle.
erk sunburn
yes that reminds me,layest post cancer tests.dr has found 2 cancerous moles on my stomach....ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN!
oh no crossy! are you having them removed?
plus the water droplets acts as a magnifying glass..should be very carefull...did you not use a waterproof one then trif
removing theese will be a cake walk though..im a old pro at this now;))
guess not, zoo.
tut tut

Thinks crossy is going to be a pin cushion again poor love
thank goodness
the every 3 month post cancer tests are worth thier weight in gold
no herin..no chemo or anything just dig them out and im done:0
surely they will go to the lab for testing though?
ill have to change my bio in babble again;)
I mean pin cushion as hospital again. i tend to not venture out in daylight
indeed trif,they will biopsy both
crossy, what do you think of alternative therapies, like that essaic tea and such?
ive seen many, many cancer patients and any that have tried homopathic alternatives have had to go back to standard medical treatments..without exception
hello.....
Hey trifs you know how I was taling about that girl before on FB?
it's interesting to me to hear you say that, because here in the us we are always getting news of alternative treatments coming down from canada, and many us patients have run away to jump to canada for treatments we can't get here.
you can cut it out,you can radiate it out or you can chemo it out..there are no easy fixes
yes, herin.
now, there are new types of chemo coming....
yes, I think the japanese doctors are working on those wafer things still, aren't they? a sort of targeted approach
indeed trif
I take great comfort in the fact that she doesn't know off Sylvia Plath is
Hi Scub
lol herin!!!!
opps Sood
but no herbal tea will get rid of a pair of 5cm cancerous masses in yer gut im sorry
Just call me bum!!
I agree, cross. come from a medical family, so I always sort of go that direction anyway
dake
which reminds me, I am way over due for a mammo
whoops - TMI????
early diagnosis, fast treatments and followup, follow up and follow up..thats the fix
Seriously what are they teaching people
lol not to worry trif, ive heard it all
lol herin - I always used to tease my grammy about that, when I would go visit her in the nursing home. Every other week they would have poetry readings, and I would always tell her the featured poets were sappho, anne sexton, and sylvia plath. Geesh, could you IMAGINE???
Hi folks. Ireland calling. Nice to meet you all!!
salt
Didn't Sylvia give her child milk and cookies then kill her self?
Hi Soo
Sylvia Plath is very largely untaught, even in university. I read her of my own volition and kind of regretted it. Much as I love a good book about mental illness, but the Bell Jar was not that good IMO.
are you in ireland soodle?
Sappho is very fun though! I <3 Simone de Beauvoir.
Clearly I'm new here - hence the babble words in my chatterbox. Sorry. Yes - Ireland Trif!
uni, you should read carrie fisher's book. I swear I got manic by association just reading it!
what part, soodle?
Co Meath - about 40 minutes from Dublin.
Love Lowell and Rich myself.
know it well. married to a dubliner for 18 years.
Hi Babble buds!
morning beach2
beach! even
Wow! So you've suffered the horrors of Irish weather, Irish men, and Irish Mammies!!!
Hi Beach
yes, the irish mammy was a bit of a shock, first time out. but we love each other now.
OH I had a teacher that refused to teach me Adrienne Rich because she is a Lesbian
what part of Dublin does Mr Trifioso hail from?
and irish weather wasn't too much of a shock - from boston. do you go to overheardindublin.com?
terenure
Ah. a southsider. very posh! lol
prozzie, very west brit.
MM, one flew over the cuckoo's nest. That was a fictional one i liked about mental ilness. Usually I prefer autobiographies. Adrienne Rich..spent 1/4 of the year on her last year, not very impressed except a few select pieces.
his brother married a gal from cavan and they moved up there. poor guy - I think he is still adjusting
Phantom: gospel. Ack.
Talking about books about mental illness, has anyone read ''The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time''?
oooh good one uni!
oooh good one uni!
I love overheardindublin!
yes, MM I did. I liked it quite a lot.
But I honestly don't think of autism as a mental illness
I liked it 'cos it helped me to understand my Asperger's a bit more
that is what I liked about it too, the chance to see inside a mind not usually known
I've never read Mark Haddon, which is a feat. I keep wanting to, but I sell all of our copies.
I loved Aunt Jennifers Tigers and Lowells Skunk hour. There is a few awesome poems also by her. I love Dorothy Porter who sadly died last year
it's what I like about most books, actually - you get to journey into someone else's head
HI MM
The DSM-IV does :) At least the DSM has gotten over homosexuality.
could spend all day in bill bryson's head, or david rakoff's for that matter....
Anyone read Tish Cohen? Much more current author, I read Townhouse and Inside-Out Girl. Both fantastic...
writing it down, uni
DSM -iv?
speaking of books.my wifes electronic e-book reader update.i now have 1000 books installed on it for her as well as 200 of her fav songs and a few finance related files, plus a bunch of scanned family picture(alas only b+w of course) but a amazing machine indeed!
is it a kindle, crossy?
I dunno what the Australian one is called. The DSM-IV is the North American 'bible' of mental illness diagnosis. There is a different one for most regions.
yes, because the things that southerns do would be considered insane here in the north, and vice versa!!!
**Is saddened by e-books. Aside from eye strain and pain reading them on wee devices, it's yet another move to close out independant (and even larger scale) book stores.
no trif as i live outside of the grand U.S of A,the kindle is useless,so i got her the sony model 700 touch screen reader
Trif, a shining example of the stupidity ofuniversalizing something as intricate and individual as "mental illness" is that homosexulaity was onoly removed in the DSM-IV (a few decades ago)
I am just not sure an electronic reader is for me. I underline when I read, go back pages, etc.
ebooks are also crippled by ugly drm locks which means you don't own the text you merely own a license for it, you can't share it or sell it as a used item.
uni..i got her the reader BECAUSE of her bad eyes, this one is full soft cover page size with many font sizes and side lighting
trif,you can underline electronically
that is pretty sad, uni. is it still illegal in england?
really crossy? should not be so close minded then...
cant speak for UK, but its legal in ireland!
there are ways around that bonkler..i could send you 100 books right now via msn for free;))
thanks for the update there soodle! lol
Hi Bonkler. I will cry the day google books gets the boot
That's definitely not enough to make me appreciate e-readers. It hurts publishers, authors and book sellers..the only making a profit is the person who distributes the device and it's updates. Much as I hate them, our boss tried to be the first in our area to provide access to them and she weasn't allowed because SOny didn't want to share.
but it does save a lot of trees, doesn't it? do the electronic versions have pictures, if the book does?
Does no-one see the problem in being able to have 100 books for free other than me? It'd be great for literature to be free...but that is destroying most of the book business!
you have to be cautious with that stuff crossy. i know of folks opn the kindle that have had their accounts locked down and all of the money they've spent has gone poof because of the suspicion of eula crimes.
I love that Cross has the books on Ebook. Its great. I love google books for text sitations
if there are pictures in the book,it will be rendered in b+w in some cases trif
I hope the world is big enough for electronic book and regular ones. For those with diminishing eye sight, the ability to enlarge the font is crucial
Libraries have lots of books for free, uni....
bonkler,i dont use the kindle as it is u.s proprietary
And libraries are being closed down left and right because people theoretically don't utilize them as much anymore..
as my wife cannot see regular books, this is my alternative
crossy- I'm so glad we have the technology to allow people with diminishing vision like your wife to be able to enjooy books
actually, I read an interesting article the other day that said as the economy worsens, library use goes way up.
indeed trif..as we speak we have a new 12 million dollar libray going up on town;))
I use my library a lot, to sort of try out books. If I read one and really like it, I usually end up buying my own copy. and it is a life saver for movies for the kids and such
vision is holding at 20/200 on a good day and 20/400 on a bad one
sony is one of the worst corporate offenders in the area of restrictive and punitive eulas (end user license agreements). they caused enoprmous damage to thousands of computers around the world with a root kit spyware package they had put on cds a few years ago.
so she is quite lucky actually
oh dear, crossy! what a good guy you are, to arange the reader for her.
Glad that it is taking a depression for someone to value a library. Wait til you see what businesses end up closing. Babble is a literary community. Book stats here do not reflect the norm. In irony, I must leave this discussion because I have to go work at my store that is being crushed by the economy. Take care all, and enjoy what you've got while it's here.
and g'morning all. lol
If you love the library... thank Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Carnegie... one's idea; the other's money!
when I go to the library, I pick a book I like the look of, and another one. I usually enjoy 'the other one' more than the one I liked the look of!!
have a good day, uni, and I wish you many, many customer
we have lost over 8000jobs locally uni..you do not have to tell us
I do use my library a lot but the issue is that i can't physically carry and sort out 1 paragraph per 900 page book for Law cases. I love my little independant store.
libraries do rather pre-date jefferson. lol
they plowed my service station under so i know full well the effects of the recession
big box wal-marts..sigh we hate them but we love them
wow. I love the City Library but for my time and such I have to use google books. Its the only place to get different reference for Law books
don't love any size of walmart. ick.
yes herin,i know many school students who have all thier yearly texts on a e-book reader;0
His idea was free public education and free libraries.. wanted something in the constitution for both... he lost that battle, of course... but it was finally Andrew Carnegie who knew that if he left the $$$ to his kids they would squander it, LOL! So, he set up trusts to establish/fund libraries. Most libraries at the time were established/funded by wealthy folks and many were not 100% free.
No I couldn't do that. I love to feel the book, highlight what i need to find *yes shock horror* post it note the damn thing*
lol mom,our old library was a caregie model;)
carnegie even
And yes, the idea of libraries certainly pre-date Jefferson (The Library at Alexandria in Ancient Egypt comes to mind), but they were by no means prevalent, certainly not here in the colonies, LOL!
you can highlight passages in e-books;)
BUt you can't molest the book :D
Can you?
just dont condem new ideas..think of all the trees we can save;)
wish i had a computer can id show it to you
I love books, but I hate carrying them around. Also, I love that my Palm Pilot has a backlight... because sometimes I don't even need my glasses when I use it... also I don't need to fumble with the stupid book light. I don't know if I have the capability of highlighting, will have to investigate.
I couldn't imagine all the text books on ereader. I love my books
mornin babblers :)
the forerunner of the public library was established in england in the 1500s. doesn't diminish the contributions of jefferson or carnegie, we could do with a few more altruists in this day and age.
HI Eva
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/st ores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId= 10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productI d=8198552921665562069
I have to tell you. I am reading Wuthering Heights again right now, as I came across it after moving... anyway, I have been reading from my Palm Pilot recently... I now find that I kind of like using the Palm, as it is smaller.
We have a really crappy little library but am blessed with it connecting to other libraries.
No question Bonkler that there certainly were libraries established prior to either of those guys.
hello eva
love my paper books as well, this is used in conjunction with books..though the wife gets the most usage out of the e-reader
but what would happen to the ereader when I drop it in the tub????
We have THE best library system here... There are 70 member libraries and we can borrow from any of them... and do it online, which is great. We also have access to downloadable books on the web, also for free. It's great.
right now i am reading a hard cover 1968 copy of airport by arthur hailey..love that old book smell;)))
And I think that is great. It has superseded the old scan into computer have the computer read it back
lol same thing that will happen with a paperback..it gets wet
we have that too mom, but not 70, more like 20. still and all, it rocks
could someone plz give me a rundown of the 8's?
But certainly in this country the Carnegie endowments really went a long, long way to establishing better libraries, collections, etc.
Yes it does, Trif.
Um we have over 600 RPG books and about 200 novels
i agree mom
i have a pa8, sp8, and tr8 so far
clues for the sp8 and the tr8 plz trif

la5/12, la6/21, la6/21, I think.
don't have any yet, harp
alas, no. but if anyone wants to GIFT me some shoes, ill letcha know which ones caught my eye. ;)
thanks for those la's Haz
pabs, just noticed where you are from.... not too far from me
You're welcome, pab.
hi Nono
haz, im not even sure i have seen you since before your bday.... so, happy belated!
Thanks Haz, that L was my only blank tile now its grey
could you clue those has?
Thank you very much, EvaN.
You're welcome, Nono.
never mind! now i'm thinking of soup....
nbt
where does one find motivation to do work? because i seem to have lost mine...
From the knowledge that someone is paying you to do it?
From knowing that you'll feel better for having done what is expected of you?
nah
laundry hung.
From knowing that you can buy shoes if you earn lots of money?
a nice day there TO?
ooh!
finally...at lest through early afternoon.
Hello TO - you're at home today? I'm having problems with changeable weather.
Did the shoes thing strike a chord?
yes, haz, regular day off. rainign there?
its rather blah here this morning, overcast but on the warm side
We've had everything from brilliant sunshine to hailstones. I'm thinking of hibernating.
yuck.
at least you can't say your weather is boring, Haz
well, i do get paid regardless...im trying to be good today, but theres a large part of me that just really doesnt care. i think its the weather -- been over a week of rain!
And it's windy as well.
No, British weather isn't boring, that's true. Sometimes I could manage boredom quite nicely, especially when I want to get my clothes dried!
I'd blame the rain, EvaN, for your lack of motivation. It does get you down, no matter how much people talk about keeping the grass green etc.
we have had rain 9 days. over 3 inches
hello all...haz very windy here too today.
I take it that's very much out of the norm for you?
Thats alot of rain TO
yes. although we do tend to regard rain as a terrible nuisance, disregarding the farmers
Hello zoozoom. I keep thinking we've made a mistake and it's really mid-November.
Our problem at the minute for the farmers is that there has been so much rain that many of them haven't put their cattle out to grass yet - the ground is so soft that they'll have it churned up in no time.
well we have had two years of bad summers..hoping this year will be different ...but i am started to wonder :-(
hi zoom. were your summers dry?
no, wet cold, windy, some snow too..just yucky weahter
*weather
oh i must look you up, geographically speaking.
I.O.W little island just of the south english coast
They've said this year is going to be a good summer. I think they're just doing it to humour us.
I've never been to the Isle of Wight but I've heard it's very beautiful.
i do believe i have seen a film and or music produced there
love it here haz, although on the wages side, one of the lowest in the country, but such a beautiful place, you must check out some of my flickr photos when you get a chance :-)
I will do. I've visited Jersey a couple of times and was always amused at how quickly you arrive at places. Have you always lived there?
no haz , i have only been here since 1997 before that i lived (was born) in oxford
Quite a change of pace of life?
TO, i belive you are right..they are filming here alot during summer months but mostly small productions, but i am sure there were a couple of larger scale films done here....probably to do with osbourne house
LOl...you are telling me haz, it was a bit of a shock ..but i have settled right in now..lol
Good for you!
I'm just thinking - the film with Judi Dench as Queen Victoria was possibly filmed there -was it Mrs Brown?
The one with Billy Connelly as John Brown. Looks like I'd better google to get my facts straight.
it was released in 1997 i think..so it would of been before i arrived here, but i thin you are right though
morning everyone.
hello ruru
'Mrs Brown' in UK, 'Her Majesty, Mrs Brown' in US. It was very enjoyable although I should have paid better attention to the scenery! A lot of it was shot in the Highlands of Scotland as well.
hi ruru
Good morning ruru.
scotland..now theres a place that receives alot of rain..lol
Judi Dench is an amazing actress
Well, yes, although some parts are worse than others.
She is, ruru, I think she's wonderful.
I like Helen Mirren
true haz...she is a wonderful actress ruru thats for sure
back. my clues are up - six in one
Well done, TO!
ok i had better dive back into this grid still have to find another 130 words
got those but thanks TO
well i was going to just use the mountains, but decided to put a bit of thought into it
Yes, Helen Mirren is impressive as well.
It's quite exhilerating working through all those sp6/21 and sp7/32. You can see why Pollock enjoyed it so much.
he immeditaely came to ming, too. now that's branding!
or mind. something like that.
I know. I wonder if he was the despair of his teachers - I bet he never kept the crayon between the lines.
just before i get back into this grid ...i decided to get up early for the flip...i could not believe the speed at which some babblers were getting these words...one had got 100 words in about 15 minuites.
zoozoon, I know what you mean. I always like to think that I give each word more of an individual welcome.
zoom, just muscle memory of the mind. sometimes i do best when i just let fingers fly.
hahahaha...love it..thanks for making me smile haz..i`ll remember that one
I'm never around for flip time but I suspect I would probably close the chat log for fear of feeling foolish.
I am always amazed how some people are so great at Babble
zooz - it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
i see the ps word is back. the repeat words always tickle me.
i think the smaller words will be the challenge today. the ps would make a good clue.
Thanks TO..did not see that
I know - the repeats intrigue me as well.
ugh.. 51 p's
opening chat... wow, what a grid! even our volcano is in it.. what fun. Hi Babblers
Good morning Aloy - it's a lovely grid.
hello aloy
like my cousin Vinny said afterhis cross examination "I'm done with this one"
ooh just found a good one to clue. although aftet allof that work to type clue without usual typos...
Congratulations bubba!
yo, bubba! LOL
congrats, bubba!!!
well done bubba
oh there are two ps words
hi, aloy!
hi TO! reading back... please send some of that rain down here.. such a drought we are having, lots of wildfires..
ooh! ooh! i know thw other! i saw it but it did not click
hymnal
TO bursts into sacred song....

a GREAT one for a clue icon. haz, shall i abandon jackson?
which is why i speak of muscle memory, zoom
P = not pepperer
Yes, he looks like a bit of a reprobate. Fire up the ps 7.
ps that is..
i must give this muscle memory a try TO
p's are done.. holy cow
with that and your monleys you can conquer all :)
gee ru, you started with them?
nice monkeys.....
those lovely s's are helping so much.. nice placements
ah, the home of the famous herriots are in in the grid. haz, that's how i picture you, as a sort of helen...:D
um, what is a herriot?
all creatures great and small vet
ah, ty
My goodness! I always forget that the Herriot books were so universally popular. I suppose we always thought that with the Yorkshire dialect etc, they would only tend to appeal to a British audience, but clearly not.
love those books
the tv series made them. but i loved the books.
we watched the series on PBS.. it was great
They're good stories - a great source of information as well, although many of the treatments have changed radically over the years.
and herriot is a soemtimes grid word - thought it may be heriot, i forget
Again, the scenery was one of the highlights of the TV series.
the photography was wonderful too.. sometimes I felt like I was in the barn with the vet and the animal..
oh yes, it was ruggedly beautiful
I think it was a bit of a shock for the actors to have to get so involved with the animals.
Love the books and the series
very romanticized view of life
hi all, bak for a bit. hope you like my icon clue :)
r's are finished.. this is flowing smoothly today
are you out in the countryside, Haz?
r=r=r=rah for ru ru
No, Aloy, I live in the town (large market town) but am about five minutes in the car away from the countryside.
hello Dinok..icon looks good.
so, you have immediate neighbors?
dinok - you should put the first two letters and number count on your icon, just to let people know what you're cluing. But it looks good!
Yes, we do, Aloy.
hi dinok my i am ckuekess :D
I think it's pl8/45. If it's not, then I'm clueless as well.
*light bulb comes one* ty, dinok!
ah
it is haz
Light bulbs going on everywhere.
ok i am a novice. It is PL8, blood cells
Thanks for confirmation zoozz.
yes, i had negelecteds the la 7 and the na 7 as well as the pl5
*blood cell, pl does not work
It's all part of the learning process, dinok - it's great that you've done a clue, I haven't sorted one out yet.
while clueing the related sp7 :/
but... i like looking at Spangles, Haz..
the beginning of her name is in the grid, lol
I wonder if I could make her into a clue.
yes, spangles makes me smile
yes.. she is the clue!
I didnt know there was such a thing as themes until yesterday, wondered why people kept changing icons. lol!
don't take her away...
I've got it! shecan clue le4/5!
We're a funny lot, dinok. Sometime we'll give you the World History of Babble.
How about - this dog does not have any fl5.
ooh, having a happy sp5.14 here.. fireworks are going off.. what a fun grid

You're welcome, ruru.

flosey, reading your recipe. are they fudgey or cakey?
thanks dinok, it looks absolutely delicious
they're fudgey
I can feel the calories going on...
hmmm, calories in chocolate???
flosey if you serve it in the pineapple, people are always bowled over. great centre piece!
thought that was forbidden
I may be wrong, but at the minute I think there are calories in fresh air. It's the only explanation for weight appearing where it shouldn't.
can't wait to get home and try it dinok, am here until June 2
yes Haz, my tummy seems to inhale too much of that fresh air
stops breathing
i think i will enjoy luncheon out today you all are making me ravenous
if just my tummy would!
lol @ ruru
stupid air . . .
I'm not the only one to notice this phenomenon?
right that se6s it, I am off for some tea! brb
enjoy dinok
later, dinok
TO how many rooms are you improving?
batkroom redo, will take bids after design. flooring on ground level, maybe all rooms.
landscape beds all around house
and happy to report it sems my gorund hog may just have come for a look see and left.
Oh good. And all without borrowing a dog?
I'll retrieve the emails when I get over to other son's - perhaps make that recipe for them, thanks again
oooh i got slapped for even suggesting that. critter removers said they can tear up a dog.
We redid our bathroom recently - same two men were ablt to do everything except the electrical work and it was relatively painless. Dusty but painless.
mine is a must do,. tiles came loose and it seems the proper backing was not used in construction. or maybe it;s that it has come along way sonce then. danger of mold
Honestly? I thought groundhogs were reasonably small and benevolent. We don't have them over here.
oh no. they can be vicious and are adults are quite large.
big waddly things with big teeth
I'll be glad we don't have them, in that case. You don't paint a very fl7/40ing picture of them!
As far as bathrooms are concerned, it's impossible to get anything but white baths etc over here. Is it the same in the States?
oh goodness no! bathrooms as spas are the rage. i myself have almon/off white and am thinking of changing back to white.
could I have a clue for st6/21 please?
sirry did you mean fixtures? or tiles/materials?
flosey doctors now use them instead of stitches
No, the fixtures. There's choice galore as far as tiles are concerned, but basins etc are white all the way.
thanks TO
well there is a trend back to neutral. but for a while - i mean you can date a house by the colors. i saw a house with BLACK fixtures. and in the fifites there was a lot of gold, blue and pink
hello alla
*all*
hello peri
you haven;t lived till you've tried to tame a pink bathroom :(
the 70's was avocado and gold, the colors of my kitchen that I have been looking at for the past 19 years :(
hi peri what's up?
help with 8's pls. only have one pa8/45
Yes, it's the same here. Seventies stuff was very colourful, toned down a bit in the eighties and nineties, now going back to neutral. It's probably a good thing, you don't have to make a decision about colour, just shape, size etc,
tr8 - plural of the type of sewing machine my teacher used to make clothes while we sat doing our work.
so you had fixtures in pink blue and yellow back then?
not much at the moment. need to sell some of my furniture but not sure what to ask for.

he came home Monday, after calling us at 8AM demanding we spring him... after his roommate blasted the TV till 6AM and left the window open all night to the cold
he's doing pretty well at home, and he was supposed to come home on Tuesday anyway, so it wasn't too big a deal to get him out a day early
oh dear. re roomate. how is he doing? is he getting homecare?
the staff should not have allowed that
yep, the Physical Therapist just arrived for an assessment, and home nursing has been here twice this week
ok, good to hear
I know!!! The staff was way too accomodating of my dad's roommate for the whole 2 weeks my dad was there
it wasn't the first time (not even close)

Be back to chat and clue in a bit...

128 left, had to leave for awhile to go get my van, looks like i will be in market for a new car
don t think i will get to finish this one
I hear you dino
sdo confusing for me today
cherl this is the time to get one
yep, but not when i need a job too lol
what's wrong with your van is it nickel and diming you to death?
It will work out though, just have to get dd to school for 3 more weeks then summer is here
and the nickels and dimes are $500 and $1000
school ends early there
our kids go until the 25th of June
yes it is out the 29th her birthday
that was JFK's birthday
and my nickles and dimes are over 2000.00
our daughter just had to replace her water pump seems like there's always something
radiator went out and fan housing broke, they tried to fix it and made it worse
she had a good car all paid for and someone rear ended her and totaled it so she bought a used car and it's been nothing but trouble
they just don't make them to last and they wonder why the auto industry is in trouble
yeah, well I have new tires and a full gas tank and then it did this
aint that the truth
maybe we all need to get horses
lol! cut down on fuel bills as well if you clean up behind u
well been thinking about a bike but 100 degree weather makes you think about that
lol
bikes are economical but drivers just don't watch out for them
one of the mail men in town owns a moped
reminds me of the 80's
I'm a product of gas rationing my mother and father met during the war when she was in his car pool
does he use it to deliver the mail?
no, dont think so, just to get to the post office
that would make delivering packages very challenging
see him riding it when take dd to school most mornings
those are pretty safe if you don't have to get on the highway
yes they are, and economical
lots of people had Vespa's in the 60's
gas prices are rising again and it's almost summer they seem to know
I'm taking off if you don't need any clues it's a beautiful day out there
bye for now take care
enjoy west n tc.
bye West, enjoy
Morning everyone

it's a good approximation of this grid for me, aslindy; it's not difficult as such, but all the plurals and -er endings make it a bit of a sl4,6
yeah, I think you're right, samantha
2 columns gray!
I'm just grateful there's no -ed ending possibly. That would be *special*, in that short bus kind of way.

good one, red -- and clear as a bell
I'll try to clue it TO the Pl 5. Sometimes we say not very bright people are a waste of Proto-pl***....
I lov eot do the icon themes, but honestly, I have been under so much work stress that I barely finished a grid in months, my stats went from 900 or so to 577!

I think most everyone has finished and it is Friday Night, so hopefully people are out. I am so tired that ai am just hanging out.
hi all, back again
I'm sort of here, but still have 130 words to go, so not much help. Have all the 8's and the 9, but only 12 7's so far.
God babies came over so had to spoil them for awhile
I already finished.
well, congrats then!
ty
So if you need clues, my icon is one, and i can try...
Can I get a clue for the bottom L for NBT?
Watching Happy Feet and wishing something else was on.
Magy I am trying to figure out which L came from the bottom L...
le 4, think it is meadow
thanks Red...I've been trying but they are all from the other L!
I remember having the same problem Magy.
not sure if that is one
or le 4 on me
Or the Jumping one.
I think that's the la5/6/6 - what you dip soup with, and pl, and who does it.
rbud you are right.
thank you everyone!!! NBT!!
yep just greyed that one
Yaaay Magy.
And cherly!
ty
HELLO ALL!!!
oops. durn caps lock...
hi stid
Hi Stid! How are things?
Would someone mind explaining what these word 'codes' are? ...for example la5/6/6 and le 4 were used earlier. I may just be a bit slow tonight but I cant seem to figure out how you are telling one word from another.
Hi, All
HI STID!! :D (oh, I thought you were just really cheery. lol!)
LA 5/6/6 means there are three words in a row that start with "LA" -- one is five letters long, the others are 6
la5/6 means someone is looking for a word starting with l and has 5 letters
on the other hand, LA 4/4 would mean a four letter word (first number) worth 4 points (second number)
hi all
oh rbud, seeing you, I *am* cheery! HELLO RBUD!
sorry, I wasn' tnearly as clear as stid, and I erred...
hi, doresn
le 4 would be a 4 letter word starting with le
That helps alot thanks. Only thing I dont get now is how you know how many letters you're looking for before you find the word. :-)
tempest heres an example. la5, 6means a wordstarts with la, has 5 letters and the six means its valued at six points. If you click on the help box it will explain the points values.
hello dorens. I am having a GOOD day. Hope you are, too. Wanna hear the reaction of 24 6th graders when told they were going to write a sonnet????
licketys list.
Hi PAM!
hi, red!
yes, stid
lickety has a list that is handy -- see the links below the grid
hi pam, red, tempest, and cherly
okay. this was yesterday, because today they had a class party:
they GROANED! they COMPLAINED! they MOPED! and then they got to work, and were doing surprisingly well by the end of the class period!
*happy teaching moment look*
hi stid - good work with the 6th graders !
good for you, stid!
yay for stid and the sixth graders!
yay, stid!
hi everyone - and Happy Teachers Appreciation Week to all in the profession
good job stid. hi jbv and rbud
yes, I was a little worried, but this class is truly exceptional. I am so lucky to have had this experience.
and yay 6th gtsfrtd
*graders... ugh, I am randomly typing...
I had half a day off today and I am starting to feel human!!!!!
LOL, looked fine to me, pam!
yay for red!
I have all of saturday off and I turned off the phone.
yippee for you, red -- and are you now LESS red than after your day at the beach?
Tempest click on Licketys Babble Clues on the bottom and you can find a list of all the possible words and how they are scored. You can enter words at the top of the list and it will pop it right into the right spot for you
hello bugsaw!
by the way, stid, I wrote a sonnet myself this week - in honor of my wonderful staff
what was wrong red?
nice jbv
Yes better. Nothing really wrong Dorens, just been working these 60 hour weeks...
and sunburn.
good for you, JBV! I am still working on mine... was too busy walking around encouraging the kids yesterday.
I am glad you have some time off, red. NO sunburn...
Hi Stid. the grade 9s at my school had the same reaction to writing poetry today.
*stage whisper* yes, red has been RED...
nah tomorro i plan on sleeping.
Thanks for the hint Bugsaw.
one word down
oh oh... I am more than halfway. Must get back to writing this paper... *sigh* and at 8 I get to start signing up for the more than fulltime (why do I do this to myself) classes for summer.
go nutly go!!! *holds brewski at finish line*
hey there nutterooni
nutttttttie
Says smugly, I am finished, but have no good evening plans. soam still chatting.
It drove me nuts for a while too Tempest
Hugs all round
This game is addicting tho so it is best to keep learning
65 words left and 8 p's
hiya guyzes, watch it bugs
bugsaw, I don't think we've met before... I have been swamped this year. glad to meet you, though! I have just applied to a teaching program at the local college...
go cherly!
Happy feet asa movie is not really holding my attention.
hi herin
hey lady! I was just on my way out. back in a half hour or so.
hi, nut and herin
addicting is certainly accurate, bugsaw
cherly a lot of the P's refer to paint tools or small beds.
I'm listening to it in the next room - nice soundtrack, tho
hi dorens
Just thought I would wave hello I ahve to go and get dressed and do study
wait wait... YAY RED!!!! *offers cool drink in celebration of early finish*
Hi herin.
*temporary poof*
Hi Stid. I just found this game by accident last month. I found the people on here very encouraging and helpful so it is my turn
TY stid.
ty red
And Bug, it is horribly addicting!
lol..bugsaw..I will agree with the addicting part. I have been doing this two days now and my husband thinks I am crazy already.
no kidding. I love it tho. I work with a very challenging student who needs to take breaks often so I give him the grid to play with and he thinks he is not doing school work!
wow, done with l's, done with p's, the end is in sight
temprest you have to get hubby to play also...
go dorens (turns purple in envy)
yay dorens.
jbv how are things going in your housse...
well done dorens
my husband is dyslexic (man i hope that word doesnt come up i cant spell it..lol) so word games make him crosseyed
not so fast, but thanks .... still have 20 left!
red, it's pretty much the same - we just got home from the weekly hospital visit (tubes flushed, etc)
it's pretty discouraging but thanks for asking
Know what DNA stands for? National Dyslexic Association. - my dyslexic son told me that
This game frequently makes me crosseyed ..
sorry to hear that jbv... didn't realize you still have that going on
hi tor, did you finish yet
lol..i will have to tell my husband that he loves phrases like that about dylexia
yes dorens, it is an on-going situation, he may need another surgery but it can't be for a while
I agree with that torgone. Half the time I swear I am just typing words I have already found
oh {{{jbv}}}that is rough
50 left ..
if anyone wanted to complain about the least little thing, you should just meet my husband and you would be amazed at how strong he is - never compains, always looks forward
the world needs lots more of those peole
Sorry JBV. I am so sorry that things arent perking up a bit more.
Oh torgone, I smoked you! that work thing allowed it.
well I have 65 still
we are learning lesson in life - people always talk about focusing on the now and a serious illness makes it happen -
My Mom feels that way now after we watched my Grandmother struggle with alzeheimers...
so I try to enjoy the immediate small pleasures - kind people, babble fireworks, etc.
that is the best way to look at it
it has made me a lot less shy
what has made you less shy, Bugsaw?
focussing on the here and now and knowing that if I don't speak up it could be too late the next time
well, no need to be shy here, Bugsaw, speak away!
I think and I hate to say it...but the economyhas made a lot of people take a hard look at whats important.. as well.
absolutely bugsaw... we have a very unshy group. fireworks here too
thanks to you all, I do. For years I played games and just snooped on conversations and felt like a voyeur
I think that's true, Red
not just unshy. You guys are encouraging and supportive. You take time for newbies too!
yeah dorens
well done dorens
It has red, alot of people having to face things they never had to think about before
ty. anyone need clues before I go? have to get started on a book that is way overdue
I remember being shy in 8th grade, then went to a HS where the 9th graders led the orientation and I was so amazed and impressed at how self-confident they were, I decided then and there that I was going to be like that - .... it took a while, but I did change
impressive, j
na5/10?
people who know me now would never believe I was ever shy
i have been working on overcoming it for years. The best thing i did was shift my attitude from seeing things as a threat, to seeing things as a challenge
plural of hawthorne, torg
na 5 plural of hawthorne? what am i missing?
I always miss that one since the singular is not accepted ..
Author of Scarlet Letter- short first name
wow lots of names in this one
ty
Actually I miss a lot of words because I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree ..
tor thats not nice
hello again. I am going to have supper and play. I am suddenly very ahead of where I expected to be at this point in time!
or true
*taps tor to set bulb* better, dear?
nice grid stid, even if lots of words
yes, I am down to 126 cherly. did you finish while I was away?
nope still have 58
went for awhile to spoil my godbabies
*Shining as brightly as stid's students now ..
not too bad, then... LOL lucky godbabies
*grin* so you saw that, did you?
you're such a lurker
I'm a lurker supreme ..
Good evening, folks!
Fun grid today?

hi takuma
(((TAKUMA))) hi there! nice grid!
what you dip soup with stid and 2 6s after that
*sigh* fishy dumb volcano...
thanks cherly *thinking
got them NBT and 114 to go.
go stid
excellent! I just got done with some grading, so I could use a nice grid to get into
what were you grading?
this is a nice grid takuma
Just regrading some logic exams
*shudder* logic escapes me... (generally) better you than me!
its s nice chewy grid but tasty
That's not logical stid ..
no tor, it's not. see what I mean? *shrug*
tor needanyclues??
pa6/21 after the pa9?
I like tor's new last name...
like a piece of furniture for a church but put a P in front of fit.
PA NINE??? *faint*
thanks for that PA 6...
the nine is a thing to put your paint on, alternate spelling.
500 year old word ..Thanks enable ..
AH. art talk. THAT, I get! (thanks red)
now to work thatPa into conversation should be easy but I might get the usual stares.
..and thanks red!
can someone please clue the sn 5/10?
Yes, someone would say you were pa6/21ing ..
anglicized german word for "fast" JBV
oh! got it, nm
thanks, stid
hi, friends!
hi, again
:-) you were pretty sn5 on that one JBV!
hi, ping
:)
hi pam
and ping
20 left here
hi, cherly
PING!!!!!! (((((many many hugs))))) how are you doing? have been thinking of you ALL DAY. and yesterday too, when the 6th graders embarked on their great sonnet adventure
go jbv, cherly, pam stid, torg, and ping!!!!!!!!
hi pam and cherlyQ and stid and jbv
Ping and the poets-a-day are amazing
yay for sonnet adventures!
94 now, trying to decide if listing now is a good idea.
once I list, I may not be able to tear myself away to go back to writing.
Do they still have poetry on some of the busses Pam?
yes, red. A very few here in Boston...
i took the afternoon off and spent it with the children - good time
My Dad had a few odd ones in the busses back in the 70's part of a Poetry in Public Places programme.
nice, ping
good for you, Ping!
who's your dad, red?
John Taggart, hes still alive, just had a book out I think in 2008.
hi, ping
i love his work, red!
ha! piano keys! anyone want to race?
he publishes with flood, right?
Ping, you are kidding me!
Yes he does indeed publish with Flood, he likes them very much.
serious
LOL (small world gets smaller)
here's a coincidence - yesterday I chose my sister's picture for my icon (colorful relative) and today her name is in the grid ! (st 6/18)
i think i wrote about one of his books on my blog a few years ago
that is super-cool, JBV!
synchronicity, jbv
Very cool, jbv
Oh Gosh! you know Ping, he just learned to use email in 2007, hes blissfully unaware of blogs.
red, it's the one with the grid of beautiful photos on the cover
I am going to have to read some John Taggart! WOo Hoo, another poet to read!
LOL, red
that's cool, that you know his poems, Ping
Oh, Ping, My mom took those photos, they are all form the house.
ooh red! your dad's been wikied!
his work is wonderful, the photographs are too
He's a little famous stidd but only in the circles of wierd....
wikied, i like that verb
He has a new book out, but it is not quite a nice as that one...I admit.
we'll have to add to the Wiki - that he is also the father of a champion Babbler
i'll look for it, red
absolutely, "father of red, babbler who resembles her name"
Ping, My Dad spent a lot of time in Houston, at the Rothko Chapel back in the dad....
holy moly, I just noticed there are *51* 'P' words. Yipe!
I will read Slow Song for Mark Rothko in a bit.... 8^)
two of red's dad's poems at
Its ok Stid!!!! I am already a bit embarassed as he sold a great deal fo correspondence to some library....
and while some is business, some is not...
really, red? have you ever been to the rothko? my office is on the same campus as it and the menil collection museum
I've never really been to Houston, OnlyAmarillo in passing...
red, your dad is big on patterns. Lovely stuff.
Takuma, I can clue.
don't panic Takuma, I have half of them and I haven't listed yet
You know Stid, I used to really hate his poetry until I heard him read it. Its sort of like singing/Jazz.
http://www.thing.net/~grist/l&d/ltagrt 1.htm
I need 5 more
that is the url I tried to enter earlier that the add word box did not accept...
go cherly go!
go cherly
the rothko is dark (understatement)
oops door bell, 5 more p's
yes, I thought it was dark too... I didn't read the whole thing.
I can take dark, ping 8^)
there. finally got the last F I needed... (dum plurals)
i meant the rothko chapel, actually - it's very dark
I dont know much about it, but that writing was all done when I was stillliving at home. and a lot of his poetry is dark and wierd, I admit to sort of avoiding it a bit.
hm. *reading the rothko more carefully*
Well Ping, I can see if He has a few copies of the new book, and he'll gladly sign it for you. He is very amused at having fans.
woohoo! NBT
cool - i am def a fan!
LOVED the Rothko...
Loved the poem, haven't been to the building
He got his first royalty check for that flood book, afterhaving some 15 bookspublished, He was in shock.
go takuma
I am halfway through, not as dark as I initially thought, but still somewhat so... I prefer the other one. It starts "You have to hear the sound before you play the sound."

114 to go. Time for a break. Good luck all!
He's gota few books of essays about Jazz and an odd one about Hopper the artist.
down to 85. going to go write and back soon. I am NOT enjoying trying to write something for a 100-level class. I don't know whether to dumb it down, or write as if I really care. Have chosen to write as if I really care, but the 5-page double-space limit is really short. I think I have enough material for ten papers that length!
not poetry.
fireworks - thanks for the clues, everyone -
I will admit though Ping that flood edition, with the photos on the cover is very successful....and I've read some "interpretations" and they make me giggle....most of those are just reflections of his daily life, notanything else!
Yaaaaaaay JBV.
yeah jbv
go stid go!
do you write too, red?
wtg JBV!
Only a blog a little. He encourages me and thinks I write well, but, I have very little patience.
Ping, I have to call home for Moms day,I'll see if he has a copy of "There are birds" I dont like it much, but its a little wierd as he is my Dad, and I think there are some red ahired virgins invovled in the latest work.

You know....this grid moves right along with the list!
Hi Stiddy!
Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I think I am getting tired of reading and typing today...
I got here not too long ago, so missed the icon clues.
I think it was TO who showed a Jackson Pollock painting to clue sp8/45...
Hi stiddy!!!
oohhh, very clever!
that was a good clue, TO-via-Jill
i agree, jackson pollock = good clue
Evening all!
hi Peach
J.P. gives you a few words ..
Hello, gapeach, good to see you.
my old friend Virginia's spaghetti sauce recipe from the fifties is calling me -- been simmering for aboout 2 hours and I'm hungry for it!
do you have firewood yet, TOR?
hey peach! hey LBD! and BR! and... tor is STILL here?
Hi peach!
firewood, nice variation
hi peach
mmmmm. spaghetti. you didn't invite me. hmph.

TVP = Blech ..

down to 70 listless, peach... so feeling somewhat "chuffed"
congrats, tor!!!
whooooo hoooooo TORG!!
Don't give up, stidmama.
"patlet" = gentle tap?
are you a vegetarian, stid?
sp8/45 was icon-clued by TO by a Jackson Pollock painting
I did jilli .. yvw .. it's a (I rarely use this word except in ways often deemed improper) "cute" video ..
not entirely, Ping, but cow products are fatal -- don't even have to swallow them to swell up.
Peach, sp8 think of what happens when you drop something liquidy on the floor, it sp8's all over the place
and I can't have sheep or goat products either. I generally avoid land animals... LOL
tor -- it wasn't just "cute" -- very talented and cheery.
oh, i didn't remember that - marcia is a vegetarian
so you have underground animals?
Thanks, y'all.
the only vegetable I really can't eat is eggplant -- though wheat makes me uncomfortable, it's not really an allergy.
maybe you can eat moles, stid?
It was very cheery .. That girl is quite talented .. I like all her videos ..
underground animals??? LOL sure. worms, beetles, the occasional vole and badger...
GMTA, jill!
"Dinsdale .."
tor, there was a sidebar to the vid, where she talks about doing in memoriam for a friend, or did I misunderstand?
rofl... NOT giant hedgehogs, though!
i read that too, Jilli. yes a memorial to her friend.
ther ne 5/10- last n word??
I wonder what her friend's name was...
airborne animals
seaborne animals
It's the name at the very beginning of the vid ..
plural fishing gear lookalike
technical question here...can you download you tube for just the music...to be put on an mp3 player?
no idea, lbd!
sorry -- that last was a clue for sammysmom
ty stid - i needed that one too
any time, ping
must play it again, tor ;)
and I really must go and have that supper!
later jill, enjoy your cow!
* Why did the brain cell go to the other side of the brain? * I don't know. It hadn't really crossed my mind.

I agree, DR1965.
anyone have a clue for the 2nd sa 7,28 please?
i like that there are so many related words
most sa4/4
Here's paragraph of clues you can re 4/5. Grid is too big to finish.I started too la4/4. Was pretty easy to get the first 177 words. The le6/18s are arranged so words are easy to find.So many anagrams that I just have to al 5/10 the letters & that le5/12 me to more words. I also te 4/5 to le 4/4 on clues in the chog to help me.Babblers are always so nice to le 4/5 a hand. I was debating to try to stay up for flip or go to bed early.I think I'll pa 4/5 on finishing and do the la6/18 My brain waves are not so al 5/10 right now. In fact they are fl 4/7 right now. Another unfinished grid is not a great lo 4/4 to me. Goodnight to all as I le 4/5 into bed and ne6/18 w/my dog. He's a great ne 7/28. And there en 4/5 my night.
thanks, min!
Nice Min!
