that sounds dumb, used to put clues, not just the answer, and if you dont want to know then you didnt see it poppin on the page,
I'm not sure what you mean
like if the word was apple...an someone couldnt get it, then I could give the clue saying ap5 is what keeps the doctor away
that works
yes, but yopu don't just put apple in the chat
or ap 5 the fruit

Hello everyone
hi lyn
was just about to whine about being sure that x was a word and then realized i was being dyslexic and mixing two letters
hi Jilli. Do you know what happened with Ruru's hand? last time I saw him he was off to the specialist
Oh? Hadn't heard anything at all about ruru's hand -- what happened?
x? maybe that will make sense to me later Josh
Not sure Jilli, he was having pain
x being a stand-in for a word in the grid
ou5 to be exact
When was this? I wasn't here earlier today (playing bridge)
TY
a few days ago Jilli, maybe even a week
Must have missed it, lyn
Well, 29 left and stuck for now so I'll be off to bed -- g'night all and *poof*

Morning all. How many words today please
morning sandra, 172 today
gooooooooooooood morning fellow babblers xxx
Thanks sprite
hi frogface
hiya sprite xxx
ooo brb door
Hello frogface fellow-countryperson
hello sprite
hello am back again lol and hiya scouser xxx
hi scouser
system distinctly slow here this morning. Tide must be out.
yahooooo found an 8.
{{dear sprite}} my husband loved your collage! Thank you so much
good morning everybody
hello scouser and froggie
which means you have also found some 7s and 6s too
hello ruby hope all better
hi rubyfoo, am glad he liked it :) Good morning, good to see you play babble again today.
true, scouser
ty scouser.. We had frost this morning and I thought winter was over!
March has still got to come in like a lion so as it can go out like a lamb, we hope!
the afternoons have been splendid and all the bulbs are inches up
it is very dry, though, and people are complaining. Not me, these old bones like the dry weather and the warm afternoons
dry and warm (not hot) is lovely weather.
and the other 8! *does a proud little dance*
I don't mind hot, either
I just don't like cold and damp and grey
my favorite weather is warm, with a gentle breeze, and dry. Sunny, of course. I cannot stand heat too well.
the only time I like to work in the garden is when it's hot
I have to go sort out the fridge and the freezer. Did noble deed yesterday and defrosted the freezer so all too tidy in there now. Can't find a thing.
lol scouser... good luck.
Ciao
HI
do you ever put things in freezer without labels, scouser?
{{herin}}
hi lady! How did the first days at your job go?
then you have frozen "mystery meals"
You have freezer pot luck :D
hahah
Really good. lots of training and moving stuff about.
wow sounds good, lady! Nice people?
I missed it, what is the new job, lady?
They are lovely and take no crap
your kind of people then! Am happy for you, lady.
Thanks
Ruby I am working in a Legal Firm as a Secretary. At the moment grunt monkey
but grunt monkey who is learning a lot!
Yes indeed
NBT!
good job, rubyfoo. I am kind of stuck at 44 left. Haven't found a new words for several minutes now.
Yah Ruby
any clues for the long words would be most welcome!
I have decided that when I have paid all my bills I will be sending gifts to my teachers. What they have taught me is invaluable
wow lady... you are a special lady. *hugs*
that is sooo nice, lady. Teachers go largely unacknowledged and unappreciated
ra8: he from Hamelen who stole the kids.
re8: those guys that make sure rules are obeyed in sports
Well everything they have taught me will be used
ty ty sprite, still looking for the ra but got the others
re7: he locates his stuff again
rodent + number + inverted 'again' prefix
that is very helpful, almost have half now smiling!
te7: more wet from crying
I had to pack up someones office today. I labeled everything according to were the things were and bubble wrapped the breakables
ooh, got the 8! yay
that sounds like a good job, lady. Things so often go missing when moving.
Thanks Sprite for teh clue.
yvw :)
half!
Well I would hate to have been on the receiving end of my office being moved only to come into work with everything upside down and breakables broken. Some things no matter how stupid they seem can be personal
Hi Babblers, done a quick run-through and have 86 left. Have left 'himself' in front of the TV. His turn to put dinner on the table tonight - after 2 weeks of not! - and then refuses to make me a cup of coffee!!??!! So I am having another glass of wine.
Hi Sara
Hi herin
hi SaraY
Hi sprite
very true, lady. Some of my personal stuff may look very stupid to somebody else. I have this mug saying : "You will always be my friend. You know too much about me." It is a souvenir of my friend who died some years ago. Precious beyond words.
Awwww Sprite. See the other thing is as well I remember how upset I was when my ex packed up my stuff (long story short just wanted out of there didn't care) and how irritated I was when stuff was missing
yeah I can imagine!
So I made sure I posted noted everything. The next stage is a major whole office clean out of random shtuff
Good morning all
hello sara, hello caitlyn
Hi Caitlyn
hi caitlyn
and hi to you ruby
(had to give husband a coffee and a banana -- speaking of monkeys!)
bananas too expensive here now after Cyclone Yazi wiped out the Queensland crop.
trying hard to fatten him up
hi caitlyn
Hi sprite
he's gained almost a lb in the week he's been home
wow that is impressive. Well done, rubyfoo.
his is sooo skinny
I have a horrible weekend in front of me,I have to travel to London to say my final godbye to my brother(62)
O Caitlyn Hugs
that is so sad, caitlyn!
Ruby Bacon Sarnies sorted my dad out
oh dear, caitlyn :( That is so sad. *hugs*
Same from me - I can't imagine how hard this will be for you xxoo
he won't eat fried food, butter, cheese or sweets
{{caitlyn}}
Thanks all what is even worse is that my other brother cut himself of from the family and died in Greece on1st Dec aged 60
I keep trying to spell tariff the Fr way
I tried that too, rubyfoo.
poor caitlyn! that is a lot to go through in such a short time; you must be reeling!
tough times, caitlyn, darn! Lots of sadness. *sending you supportive vibes and warm hugs*
Sorry I shouldnt come here to moan
yes of course you should, caitlyn. That is what a community is for: to share in joy and sorrow. I only wish there was more we could do than let you know we care.
what better place for moaning than here with supportive friends?
Caitlyn hugs don't be sorry
Sharing is good - sometimes it helps to put things in perspective although losing 2 brothers is incredibly sad. I have 2 brothers and can't imagine how I would cope in your situation.
we all care and come here for support and virtual hugs. It has truly helped me through some miseries!!!!
I have to be strong to support my mum
Anyway lets have some fun with this grid
all the more reason then to vent a bit here. Do you have somebody IRL who supports you in this?
it must be terrible for her as she probably feels it's against the "natural order" of things
the grid is good, should help you distract your mind for a bit for sure
it's a lovely grid and sprite's clues were very helpful!
Thanks for the clues sprite
I finished it by 7am LOL
there is no way I'll finish, but as long as I reach half, I'm happy. And I have 97 words *chuffed*
Good going ruby
yvw lady :)
that is more than half, wtg
the chat is such a warm place, very sustaining
I am still wrestling with the brick wall, 42 left now.
Well I am deciding to get this diet food for the time at work. I think it will be beneficial and cost effective
Although I havent joined in the chat for a while I know you have had problems ruby I hope hubby is on the mend now
the infection is gone, I think, but he is still not OK. He is old and this has taken its toll.
Ruby he will get better
I hope so, but don't feel very confident
Im sorry to hear that ruby perhaps he will recover more when spring comes
yes it will take time for him to build up health and energy again, rubyfoo. Patience is called for, which is difficult, grin. Don't worry to much until another month has passed, ok?
Ruby have faith. The friend of mine in Israel is fighting to stay here longer. Just have faith.
oh... and take it easy on the arsenic, ok? ;)
LOL sprite
I think that if he makes it through the winter, he'll start to be better
Spring is almost here
and he is back to being intermittently nasty, so maybe that's a good sign.....
I guess, rubyfoo, lol. Tell him to be nice or you'll send him back to hospital ;)
O have a laugh. Do any of you know the mono brow kid from the Simpsons?
never could get into the whole Simpson thing, to be honest.
I like them but dont know that kid
ruby, I don't know what you are dealing with but I wish you and your family all the best.
thank you sara
The Mono Brow kid is Maggies nemisis
I used to love the simpsons, but they run it (constantly) dubbed into Fr and it spoils it, not having Julie Kavner's voice!
Fr TV is capricious, to say the least
Any hoot my friends kid seriously looks like the monobrow kid
can she wax his monobrow while he's sleeping?
Poor thing lol
and when he wakes up, say "You must have had a bad dream"
She was born that way. I don't think it is morally right to wax a little kids brow (not that every time I see the pics I think the same thing)
hahah
at least, once she's a teenager, she'll be ready
Lols Ruby.
103 words and time to fix lunch. Big hugs for all of you and I'll be thinking of you Caitlyn!!!
*poof*
Bye ruby thanks
all the best, rubyfoo
bye ruby xx
bye ruby
30 left and slowly pecking away at the rest.
I just found pictures of one of my fellow trainees from years ago
Go sprite go!
Are you still in contact with her herin?
Him. Yes. We just starting working together. I think dead would be me if I told him about them
Keep quiet then lol
save it for his birthday :D
And giggle evilly when I se him
Evil Sprite
*grins* I confess.
I had better go now speak to you all soon ,good luck with the grid
Take Care Caitlyn
best of luck, caitlyn, and I'll be thinking of you. *hugs*
bye caitlyn
fi4flies. Pretty nice grid but with a long brick wall.
YAh Sprite
I am off, bye all. *hugs*
Good morning all:) taking a break at work for some babbling
Hello, Jean :-)
morning all
Hello, Kallia :-)
good morning Kallia:)
hi jean and zooz:)
how you diddling?
Ok thanks, hope you are well.
Good here thanks Kallia break at work how are you?
fine thanks, just having a quick break whilst waiting for paint to dry lol
I'm well zooz
zooz do you get over to the mainland much?
not been for about 4 years..lol
only Cybernan is coming to Salisbury early June and we are going to meet up, thought you might fancy it
about that long since I was on the Island too
Could be fun..will let you know nearer the time.
Right quick break over, Happy Babbling everyone, hope to BBL :)
bye Jean
oops PB for me.
that's ok zooz, thought I would let you know
Ok 12 more to find taking a break.
later zooz....just started here
At least the 8s were not too hard to find..bye for now.
I found both 8's with no hints. It's a good day.
Well done Molly, the re was not too bad but the ra is a new one for me. Anyway, I am finished so checking out. Good luck to those still going.
hello, back for a few (hopefully), post-lunch
is anybody still here
just arrived ruby
I'm here everyone.....and hiya!!!!!
{{kje}}
hi MM
hello movieman
your help and advice were truly valuable, kje, I thank you profusely!
geri is very low tech, ruby - mostly common sense ad minimizing stupidity ; )
I got husband out of the hospital last Thursday as they were only giving him antibiotics orally. I got him pills, a visiting nurse comes every day, I am giving him all his favorite foods plus in-between snacks of bananas and apricots. He looks terrible and is very skinny, but, at least, he feels back in control!
I think if he had stayed longer in hospital, he would have died
((((Everybody))))
hospitals are fine if you really must be there, but not a safe place at all for older people... we try to avoid them and then get patients out ASAP
{{soodle}}!!!!!
hi soodle
Movie Man.... how lovely to see you. Its been a while :-)
you are a smart woman, ruby
ty kje
now I am arranging for his daughter in California to visit in Mar or Apr
(I follow expert advice!)
at first, he said no, but he's finally come around. And I got her permission to spring him from the hospital against their orders
nice... april is a pretty time in the south of france... I was mugged there i april once - LOL
no! In what town?
we had Japanese friends mugged in Marseille
in Antibes
2 guys on a motorbike opened the back door of the car and stole my bag while we were driving!
that is horrible! our friends had money, passports, etc. stolen and he was knocked down. They were on foot and two guys on a motorbike attacked them
probably the same two guys!
fera
hahaha - that would be funny
OOps.
fera is a fish from Lake Annecy!
but, I also had the best glass of champagne ever, while overlooking the Mediterranean from a relais and chateau hotel in Eze - stunning view!
I've been all over, but never in Eze or Antibes, too fancy for me, then.....
I knew of someone years ago whose purse was grabbed by a guy on a motorbike in Italy- but she was dragged along and got massive brain injury
to put a cheery note into this
oh no, kaplan, that's awful!
we needed some cheer
that is horrible, kap
Never recovered in fact. So ...good morning!
living in Miami, I learned to keep my car doors locked
that was my first trip to france... just a story to tell now, and I got to visit the embassy to get a new passport... so just an experience
how much time have you spent in France, KJE?
I have been 6 times.... several weeks at a time... but I have not picked up much language
next time you come, pleaqse come to Annecy
it is beautiful here
I will be in Geneva this summer, so will try to see you
rage
rage is good.
that would be wonderful. We are 35 minutes from the airport, 45 minutes from downtown
oops = sorry
Hi ruby and everyone else
I don't know how our driving will be by summer, but you would be most welcome to visit, stay overnight, have a meal, whatever!!!!
{{bichon}}
we ca chat as the time gets closer... I will be there late May or early June most likely
I'll be here....
please could i have a hint!???
I have a weddig in Italy June 11
where in Italy?
do you know how to play, lucy?
???????????????????????/
I wanna go to Europe!
how old are you, lucy?
Prato area
why? 14
yeah i do no how to plsy
I only know bits and pieces of Italy, and none of them well
you ca read the help section to learn the rules, but essentially you enter words that are at least 4 letters long
i have found 150 words
just know the art
good for you!
better than me!
for hints, click o the "Lickety's babble clues" link under the grid
Italy, art, spring. Sounds wonderful
so when are you arriving, bichon?
yesterday
I have drive from Geneva to Cortona before, ad stayed at lake Como, ad visited Florence - all in January
I'm ready
so art without massive crowds
brrr
thanks kje
I am sooooooooooooo jealous.
do it someday, kap... plan off seaso or shoulder... cheaper, less crowds
my first time in Italy, in 1967, my 4-yr-old son and I visited the Pinatoecca (no idea of the spelling) and it was so empty, and my boy was so cute, that a guard took us to a closed section
it was in Oct, I think
sweet, ruby!
living here is a great pleasure except for getting old and sick and negotiating all that in another language.....
Michaelangelo's David i Florence with o line and could stad and look as long as I wated... that would never happen in June
ruby, what city is the Pinatoecca in?
oops... that was illegible
in '64 in Paris, I used to take my (then) baby into the Louvre with his stroller and sit and draw.
I saw Michaelagelo's David with no line in January... that would never happen in JUne - then you get pushed through
it probably just means "art museum" but that one was in Sienna. I don't know any Italian, can barely figure out a menu if it isn't in Queens!
that is cool, ruby... I LOVE Paris
I found Sienna disturbing
I am curling up and shriveling with jealousy
I spent a lot of time there with 1st husband who was a Fr historian(but American).
kap - go!!!
Paris is sooo beautiful
Saint Chapelle
and being there with a little baby and then when he was 4 was a great pleasure. It opened many doors
sait chapelle is my fave - much prettier than notre dame
yes, bichon, one of the most special places!!!!
Would love to- we haven't been able to afford to travel but did some nice trips in '04 and '05- paris, amsterdam, Barcelona, Segovia and a bike trip through parts of the Netherlands
I went to a concert there last trip... I always stop by and look at the windos every trip
sounds good to me, kaplan!
that sounds beautiful, kap!
I want to go to Spain
We are supposed to be going to the Baltic Staes this summer for our 40th
I'm afraid we won't ever be able to go back!
I didn't know they had concerts there -- how wonderful!
I think Spain has the best food!
why do you say that kap... ever is a long time
Nobody beats the French
yes, it was Verdi's seasons
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$
it does't have to cost a lot...off season ad economize
not in this shtetl, bichon, everything is cooked with cheese around here. Tapas in Spain is, for me, the best of all
But enough whining
Someday
I want to just drive all over spain sampling every town's best tapas!
"Everything is cooked with cheese around here" ... Ruby, you say that like it's a bad thing. : D
Cheese, yes. But Italy is a close second to France. i've eaten tapas, and wasn't that crazy about them. Paella good though
100 yrs ago, when we were there for a couple of weeks (1st husband, again), we had paella and gazpacho for lunch every day, but had tapas for dinner because son was only 4
hahah molly!
Molly has a friend in Cheeses.
we live in the valley of Reblochon!
I love French cheese shops... a sensory overload
we have a shop here that reminds me of walkig into a Paris cheese shop... love it!
too funny. I like cheese but can't stand the smell
mmmmm, I love it all
Actually, for cheese, I like Italian food more
I can exist on cheese, bread, olives, and wine for most meals if I let myself
I prefer cheez doodles and vodka! hahah
omg, me too, kje!!
spain has fantastic cheeses - some of my faves
(and fresh fruit)
ruby LOL!!!
bonjour une, we are talking about eating in Europe and I'm making fun of the local cuisine!
funny ruby
right . . . I was reading back in the chog :-)
bread, France, the ultimate heaven. We visited the Poulain bakery in Paris. Got a special tour of the basement ovens and my hubby got a sample of the sponge
bread, France, the ultimate heaven. We visited the Poulain bakery in Paris. Got a special tour of the basement ovens and my hubby got a sample of the sponge
I'm not talking about eating in Europe since I've never done so. Give me bacon, eggs and hash browns at a good ole American diner. : P
I miss Pepperidge Farm white bread!
Ruby, that makes the best French toast ever.
or chicken friend steak, gravy and grits with a fried egg on top!
I'll fax some to you
how can that be, ruby!?!?! you live in one of the best bread countries in the world!
they call French toast pain perdu
tu plaisantes, non??
oui, un peu
missing white bread? LOL
now I want cheese for breakfast
right une? I don't even buy white bread
I'm getting very hungry. Time for porridge
I am a bad and simple eater, obsessed with food and adventuresome, but eat odd stuff. Today I cooked pork brains on toast for my lunch. Husband had to look away!
I cosider myself an adventurous eater... but I will ot visit you if you serve me pig brai
eewwww
ROFL!
believe it or not, bichon, I've developed a serious oatmeal allergy in the last year -- at 67!
Pain perdu? As in Frank Perdue? : P
don't worry, kje, I would never impose that on anybody. Even the dog looked away
What happens if you eat oatmeal. I have never heard of that
While whole wheat bread is healthier, white bread has it's place. Yes indeed.
ah man, I LOVE oatmeal... the chewy steel cut ones
but, most of all, I miss Cream of Wheat!
(and sushi)
I eat oatmeal, couscous or cream of wheat every morning except when hubby makes pancakes or waffles
hate cream of wheat.... gets lumpy fast
Ruby, can you order cream of wheat on line?
mmmmm, now you've got me thinking about a giant bowl of mussels in white wine and garlic in the Loire Valley . . . sopped up juices with mountains of bread LOL
Cream of Wheat i comfort food
love those lumps!
served with a nice sancere, une!
yes, when my son went away to school, I only ate cream of wheat
sancere?
well, remind me and I will brig you cream of wheat
indeed, kje! :-)
that's a good idea, practical molly
white wine, bichon
sancerre (sp?)
I'm going to the kitchen to make some oatmeal with walnuts and raisons
white wine on Cream of Wheat?
would have to google, une
I am going to get the newspaper and take a nap, hopefully, before the nurse arrives.
speaking of CHEESE, kje -- fabbo fondue with local wine in Swiss mountain village . . . omg
no, sweet cream, brown sugar and butter on Cream of Wheat!
hagd ruby
yes, une!
bye, ruby -- fun chat :-)
une, do you know raclette, the savoie specialty?
I'm going to get a post-prandial snack
yes, had some the summer I worked in Switzerland
actually, I like food everywhere I go, and now I want cheese
{{everybody}} yes, it was fun and I've just gained 5 lbs!
yes, had raclette i a friend's home in bern
now you can buy the table top raclette cookers here... I almost succumbed
i've got to go as well -- 'tis one of my Whole Foods pickup days for the soup kitchen -- hagd, all! *poof*
bye une
dw
hello everyone, fingers are sleeping
Good morning Annie.
good morning ((Annie))
and good morning everyone
Hi Molly and ((Mom))
Morning Mom
I will be in and out ....keeping the puppy today for our oldest son

Poor Ziggy, Is he under the sofa?
Aw, puppy sitting.

doubt we will see him before sundown
Poor, little thing...what is the dog' name?
but he has the 3 bedrooms to roam about and I have a window open for him so he can get the wind on him
her name is Annie
If the dog's name is Annie, who is Ziggy?
I will post a picture of her for tomorrow. I am working on the laptop today
Mom, How can I forget that name? LOL
Ziggy is our cat
really Annie, how could you?
Age. Age. Age.
It is a beautiful day here in NY..going to get into the 60's in the afternoon.
nah, not at all
potty break
I cant believe re4+end is not a word
good morning all
hi sue
Hi Sue
you would think it would be
If it was acceptable, isnt the E in the wrong place re: end
I guess it is two words or hypenated
niier
sorry about that. wrong box
Im still in the second row across...doing this one systematically
was working on the opposite of outer
thanks, Mom
I hear babblers talk about how they do a grid, I just pop in and see what I can see. I think a system would be easier
finw
ah cr**
When I do the grid with a system I fi4 it easier but of course when I see a clue I jump on it
need a bigger font
Good Morning my friends
I think a system would be better
(((((River)))))) good morning.
Hi River
How is everyone today?
pretty good and you? How are you feeling?
fine here, hope you are
I still feel crappy - made a doctors appointment for today - think this has developed into a sinus infection
I am so sorry to read about your friend. My deepest sympathy
feeling somewhat better
Off to the PB for Annie. There are some lovely cinnamon rolls in there.
oh dear River.
hi all
Annie, you are in the grid
>>>>>>>trudging along
Sorry you're not feeling well River.
what happened ?
((Peri)) good morning
thanks Mom - although it was expected it was still a shock
so am I and so is Shay's dog
Take care of yourself River. I've learned through experience that grief can deplete your immune system.
oh, so sorry River
she is loving having the window open. We are at 61 degrees
I second what Molly said
Molly, you are right..happened to me also
thanks molly and peri - it has been a tough week what with this cold and losing Cathy
I've had more health problems in the past year than I've had in my whole life. But things are getting better now, so I'm glad about that.

Hi jmc
*Group wave to JMC from the PB*
((Molly)) welcome
just settling in to my dad's house - lots of food here, stepmom and her son left quite a bit
hi uusue, good to see you. all settled in?

China...silver...I like fancy shmancy.
lucky you uu - enjoy your time there
uu and i will play out here :-P
getting there, mom - found the car keys, so that's good :-)
sounds like a step in the right direction
hi, river, it's not exactly luck that has me here; I've put a short version of my dad's story in my profile
good deal. How far away does the son live from your dad?
folding??? what is that
heck I will say fief and it plural so I can have my tea in a china cup
it is where you use the extra computing capacity on your computer to cure cancer
hundreds of miles, mom, as do I
ooh, thanks for the plural, mom!
see my profile and then crossy's for a better explaination
<===holding out
me too, jmc, I've some nice hot tea here, and stuffed baked potatoes
((uusue)) sorry to hear about your Dad - that is so hard expecially at that age....
I will have to check that out when I am home..Cant do something like that at work
I talked to him last night, and he's REALLY happy that I am here. So that's good.
he still in the hospital?
uusue, would your dad consider moving to IL to be with you?
you are a good daughter
he's in rehab, jmc, and has been for a couple of weeks now
mom, I don't think so; he's lived in NJ for all of his 89 years and has pretty strong roots here :-)
that's right sorry sometimes hard to remember the details of everyone stories
uusue, just read your profile and I hope everything works out well for you all
hi all.
oh uusue, I am so sorry. Do you have brothers or sisters near by
hi mkg
any clues out there? i dont have the 8s yet.
oh goodness, jmc, I can hardly remember all the details myself!
oh goodness, jmc, I can hardly remember all the details myself!
hi mkg
I must go now - breakfast and then work *sigh* - see you al l later - ((Hugs))
bye river, have an easy day
hello mkg
i keep trying to have a data base of info on babblers (a notebook really) but keep losing it around the house
, no, my brother and sister are both gone; my sister's daughter lives in NH but just had her 3rd baby, and they are not all that close to my dad anyway. so I'm it
bye river -- check into folding at home and fight the cancer that killed your friend
I will do that jmc - bye for now
hi annie
ok, the chog is randomly eating bits of my posts, and duplicating other ones; the last one was addressed to mom (((mom)))
hi jmc
hi mom
orine
dear me uu what a burden--i hope your dad has a faith community or friends ne**by
oops sorry
hi, mkg!
not a word, though, mkg :-)
hi uusue
*Makes room for Mom in the PB*
jmc, yes, he does have quite a few friends, and they are rallying around him which is nice
that is good; that will really help you in the long run
why is mom in pb? where is the word?????
yes; I've taken leave from work but can't stay indefinitely
at 7:55, mkg
Read back in the chat mkg. She did it on purpose.
saw it.
Sue, good to hear your Dad has a circle around him.

Woo-hoo!!! Hope its not poteen - LOL
A 7/8 combo are the men in black and white who officiate sports games.
ooh, thanks, molly - now nbs and nbt!
It's well aged poteen. Soodle will be having a wobbly, but fun morning.
LOL. Sláinte
ty got it.
got both
Just read your profile, UUsue. You sure got a lot going on there. Your step-mom's attitude is....(searching for right word...) curious!
thx, soodle - I think a lot of it is because she is ill, but that doesn't make it any easier on my dad.
and to be fair, he can be not the easiest person to get along with - there's a reason I was so eager to get out of the house when I was 17! (went to college, but still...couldn't wait to get out!)
but that was eons ago (I can say eon today, right?) and he's mellowed considerably since then, in large part due to her. So my feelings are very mixed.
sorry, potty break.... scrolling back. uusue, I am so sorry for your loss of your siblings
((Soodle)) hello
thx, mom, neither was recent (not that that helps)
thanks for re 7 and 8 Molly
(((Mom))) Lovely to see you :-)
((uusue))
you as well Soodle
mkg, I used a word on purpose so I could get my hot tea in a china cup
*plops back in* got the red message of doom again, hi Soodle
(((Annie))))
welcome back, annie!
Annie, that seems to be happening more and more here lately. I was thinking it was my internet connection but I could still go to other sites. Don't know.
((((Soodlebum)))
Annie, have you tried emailing Dr. G about you getting booted all the time?
Were any of you here yesterday when Dr_God was on?
I get it on other sites too
No I wasnt
It wasn't him Mom. He logged in later and said it was someone in his office.
Turns out it wasn't really Dr_God. The real Dr_God came on later and saide it wasn't him

No Molly I havent as yet
SNAP!!
oh I meant snap Molly not Annie
Oh my! Would the real Dr_God please stand up.
*aghast*
Okay Annie, if it's happening on other sites, I would suggest you have someone take a look at your computer. You may have some kind of virus.

Good morning, Babblers!
((Annie)) bye for now
Hi Judi!
hi and bye Judi
No need to run off. I just took a shower.
Temp is supposed to be 70 deg. today! Hubby and I are going to the beach! LOL!
Ooo, the beach! Lucky you!
If he ever gets out of bed.
be sure to wear sunscreen
Which one do you go to?
Rehoboth Beach. Southern Delaware.
I like the Cape Helopen beach, it's so pretty. I do love the town of Rehoboth though. I would love to live there.
I always wear sunscreen (even in February). I have ridiculously fair skin.
Agh...Cape Henlopen.
We don't usually go to Cape Henlopen. Maybe I'll suggest that. We're taking the dog. I'm sure she'd love a romp on the beach.
When we do Henlopen, we go into Lewes afterward. So many cool shops there.
are the shops open this time of year?
I agree, Molly. I'm just wondering if anything will be open in mid-Feb.
Which reminds me, I have to make a reservation for dinner. BRB.
Rehoboth and Lewes have become year round towns. A lot of people live there permanently, not just in the summer. Ooo, ooo, where are you having dinner?
Hmm. Don't know where we might end up for dinner. I was going to use Open Table, but there's not many resturants listed for Rehoboth/Lewes, etc.
Any recommendations, Molly?
be back later.
What do you like to eat?
LOL. Food. I like seafood. Hubby likes just about anything.
We used to love La La Land, but they closed. :-((
We avoid the chains and pub grub.
hi everyone -- have company just now, so just popping in until everyone gets up :)
Hiya, cybernan!
Judi, I think The Rusty Rudder is open year round. They have good food.
Nah. We're too middle aged for Rusty Rudder. Especially on a Friday night. I'm not a big fan of Bethany Beach either. We'll find something. Not a big dea.
*deal*
Gotta feed the dog. BRB.
Jakes Seafood is good too, and they are right in town.
Good morning all!
Mornin' Car.
Hi! You are making me hungry talking about yummy restaurants!
the blue moon - good food, ad sometimes with live music
and not young kids
and lots of seafood dishes
wait a sec...
http://www.bluemoonrehoboth.com/about. htm
Here is a link to Jakes too...http://www.jakesseafoodhouse.com /
there is a place called go fish also that has fresh fish and is open in winter
over half way and company is up, so better go make breakfast
Bye Cyber! Have fun!
Hi kids.
hello again babblers
Hi RD
how are you scrabbs
I am well and must get ready to go snowshoeing in the woods.
perfect day for it - warm and sunny
Are you doing well too?
fighting a bad cold - going to the Doc today as I think I have a sinus infection but getting by
Yep, 50F and very bright outside. The XC ski trails will not be in great shape after 3 warm days but there is still tons of snow.
we have some awesome trails behind our house - have 300 acres of conservation land that we use for snowshoeing and my husband does alot of back country skiing
I have had nasal allergy symptoms out of control since Monday and my suspicion for the trigger (besides my dusty home) is the air refreshener I started using on Sunday. Renuzit--that jelly stuff--here in the house and in the car. I have been sneezing and blowing my nose all week.
I have backcountry skis too. The temp will drop soon and winter will resume, which I am happy about. I want to ski for another few wks.
my boss has been coughing and sneezing for 2 weeks - it was inevitable that I would catch his cold - mostly nasally but now the pressure is incredible so I must go see the Doc. Alevert and Musinex are not cutting it.
he and my son hiked MT Kartigan a couple of weeks ago and skied down - my son on his snowboard - that was quite an adventure. I cant do that stuff anymore
Cool! So he had his board strapped on his backpack?
Do you have to be concerned about avalanches?
yes he did - I dont think so at least there has been no mention of avalances on the smaller mountains. They certainly would not do Mt Washington
Is there a trail to hike on or do you have to trek through deep snow?
The bare rocky summit of Mount Cardigan, at 3,121 feet, affords a panoramic view stretching from rural New Hampshire in the foreground to the summits of the White Mountains in the distance. In 1855, a devastating fire burned over the summit and removed all the vegetation, including the thin soil. Well over a century later, the summit remains bare of all but a few lichens.
There are several trails - very busy hiking mountain in the fall - small and doable
winter is challenging because of the snow but they had a blast
hi River and Scrabbs and lurkers too.. Happy Friday! This week went by quickly
Fun, fun! Well, I must get ready now. Enjoy your weekend!

I have that same problem JMC. What a pain in the ass.
i think the phone should stop working when i have decided to babble for a while
It would be might damn considerate of it, wouldn't it?
yeap and considering how helpful i am most of the time, i think it would be the least it could do
Hey, everyone. :3
I want to go to the beach. I should have crawled in Judi's trunk and stowed away.

Puts extra sandwiches out in the PB for all those who are going to spell out fi4 when they finish the grid. : D
still looking for the bug
It's a little teeny weeny one.
Hi, all!
Hello Sue, how is your Dad?
well it was certainly time to update my icon! anyone who likes adorable children, check it out.
Hi, Molly! He's doing really well. Will be coming home on Tuesday!!!
That's good to hear Sue. HURSH! They have gotten so big. Such cuties.
well when you don't update the pic for a year, they do tend to grow a bit.
Only if you feed them. : P
It really disappoints me that The Girl Scouts are selling a cookie called "Thank U Berry Munch". Can't The Girl Scouts use proper English instead of text-speak?
dear me, molly! and the cookies are so expensive now - when I was selling them, they were 35 cents a box (ok, not exactly recently) :-)
is it just me or are there a lot of phantoms in this grid? I keep wanting to enter tariff, tanager, ...
Yes Sue, lots of phantoms. And Nef and Annie too. At least The Girl Scouts have decent uniforms now. Those things we wore looked like prison dresses.
Right! I saw annie, but I missed nef! And I'm a phantom too, of course :-)
friend is another phantom...
well, 10 more and I will be halfway.
go uu go
hi, jmc!
none of the cookie money goes to the troop and the girls have to buy their own uniforms
i never buy the cookies since i think they should pay sales tax and they don't just another cheating aspect of the whole girl scout cookie scam
really?? We always had to buy our own uniforms, but the troop got 5 cents from every box (doesn't sound like much but the boxes were 35 cents)
:-(((
Well, I don't buy the cookies any more either since I am too fat anyway and my partner has celiac disease, so no wheat in our house...
they get a tiny but maybe still get .05 from every $4 box
well, that doesn't seem fair!
still no bug
I was never much good at selling them, either :-)
that is why i don't buy them -- that and the sales tax thing
i was extremely good at selling them
did you want a clue or statistics on the bug?
sure i am sick of looking for it
<===wearing grump mask today
gn4
(if it's the bug I have, anyway)
ty
that gives me the re5 too
hursh?
oh, right!
ha - halfway now!
wtg uu
ra4/6 and an5/14 seem pretty apt to me today and I have no clue why
probably because i have what my mother called a vanilla pudding headache
don't forget the en6 jmc
yes! i am en6d!
ty jess
<==polite but grumpy
yw
hmm my staff better hope i don't become the fi5/16 today
wow you are mad as a ha6 today
lol i just saw that too
different kind of mad!
didn't have the an5 for some reason; now I am more than halfway, thanks to jmc's headache (ducks behind black cloud looking for silve lining)
*silver
lol
If you want a laugh, go read the BS mumbo jumbo on the Girl Scout site about where the revenue from the cookie sales goes.
what the heck is a vanilla pudding headache?
it is where your head feels like it is full of vanilla pudding
doesn't exactly hurt as much as it doesn't work well
hi all
hi boo and peri and molly
ok
hi jmc
hello all
Hi Peri
hi, boo and peri!
hi uusue
OK, now I really am going to go back to spend some time with my dad :-). bbl, hopefully to finish.
bye uu
bye uusue
jmcnrick was in as grumpy a mood today as I have ever se4/4. She ra4/6 a peel over everyone ne4/4 her in the chog and her office. The ra5/14of her ability to swear was amazing with some oa4/5s I have never heard before. I joked that she was mad as a ha6/21 but it en6/24d her even more like a th5/12 under her saddle. Her face actually turned or6/24 with ra4/6. She put the fe4/7 in her staff who thought she might fi4/7 them. They acted like fi5/22 since she had become such a fi5/18. She was definitely as mad as a ho6/21. I think she should smoke a re6/27 and mellow out. Don’t go ne6/18 to her than you have to.
thanks so much jmc, got lots of words from that rant
okay with that i will go pretend to do end of year financial stuff
glad to help it was a grid to suit my mood for sure
*poof*
Hi all...does anyone have the link to babble expert?
Lickety will send it to you, SeaSpray. I did have it but I think it vanished when I changed computers, sorry.
*Passing a re 6/27 to JMC*

Not to bad mama some strange words ... but it wouldn't be babble without them lol

Morning all
hi Lynxx
good morning lynxxx! how does Saturday look?
I have all the J words already!
clue for ho 7 please
Quite fresh, seems we had some light rain overnight. Do you have a non-working weeken d planned Stid?
this is a nice grid today
no lynxxx. I really have to try to get as many of the assignments for the quarter done as possible -- I think I am in a good place to be able to complete all or most assignments, but I feel I am behind in a couple areas, so need to check in with faculty today to be sure I am not leaving anything out.
how about you lynxxx?
I think it might be a lot nicer when I list shortly!
how was the museum kazzer? did you go just for lunch, or did you see some exhibits?
lynxxx do you have the link to babble expert? I emailed lickety but haven't gotten it yet.
You seem to have a huge workload Stid - I don't envy you at all. I'm just catching up with family - nice
we walked around the Egyptian and Assyrian galleries but felt that £11 each for the book of the dead exhibit was a bit pricey
seaspray i have the download program in my email if you want it?
mind you we did spend £70 on lunch
yes, that is an expensive book. I think that's how they really make their money at those exhibits -- the souvenirs.
eek. that is a LOT of $$$ for lunch (I don't have a curvy-L pound sign)
oh yes cos...that would be great...will put my email in my profile thanks!
hey seaspray would you email it to me please
ok no problem let me know when you put it there ill send it asap :)
the book of he exhibition is £30 - its £11 just to go nd see it
ho7 from the ho4.5 - even most frosty
NBT!
it's there cos
even most? - even more frosty that is
ty lynxxx
oh I read the book of "the dead exhibit" not "the book of the dead" exhibit. LOL maybe I should nap instead of babble...

<--sometimes wonders what it would be like if the whole world just randomly broke out in a musicial number at once
there are youtube vids of ... not the whole world but... large groups of people... doing so, cos. in train stations and things. they are pretty cool.
but it isnt random is it? i mean just sitting there on babble or something and all of a sudden ur standing up with every one singing the same song lol
no, it isn't random, they plan it, but it's random to the other people in the station who weren't expecting it!
ah good point
so how does everyone like my updated niece & nephew? :)
aww adorable!
it's not the best picture of either one of them, but it's the only one of them together in one shot, lol.
my brothers having his 4th kid this summer.. he has 3 girls so naturally we're all hoping for a boy
wow, 4 is a hand full
they don't know what it's going to be?
they will find out next month
usually everyone finds out
im tired of buying girl toys and clothes lol
Oh, I see
aww, girl clothes are soooo cute!
that singing on the station is called flashmobbing - it can be arranged for any outdoor area - in case anybodys interested
and since i wont be having kids :( we want a boy to carry on the family name
A boy in that mix would surely be nice
You all reminded me of this clip that Haz found - alond with 31 million others - if you haven't watched it you should - just beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXh7JR9 oKVE

thanks for the ou6
Lots of songbirds, some redtails, and seagulls galore.
THe temperature was really warm - somewhere between 50 and 60 I think, but the birds were not willing to participate!

Have to get on to the roof and evict a possum
I took advantage of the opportunity to take some of the snow off the pile at the end of my drive.
careful, herin -
Now I might be able to see someone on the street before I back out.
Welll I am not going to get up there my self :D
we had that today also, but the party is over tonight, wind picking up to 60 kph, temp dropping to -10 with a windchill of -20 and 10 cm of blowing drifing lake effect crap;(
we still have those piles here, wht - but they got smaller today
Beautiful day here too. Close to 50 and very sunny. We hiked on the trail in the woods as the ski trail was not in optimal condition.
More importantly, they might see me.
oh ewww a possum i used to have recurring nightmares about a possum who made it mission to hunt me down

the governor wanted to do away with all collective bargaining for public workers
union-busting plain and simple
Hey Cross, Cos, Wht, JBV. Scrabbs, et al. Mucho apologies if I missed anybody... (((Hugs all round)))
also read that the governor pushed a tax cut for high income earners... and if he never did that he wouldnt have needed to cut collective bargaining
hi Soodle!
he also only cut taxes for these who donated to his campaign... from what ive read...

bye jbv
ty Molly, I finally got it. I was going to the left when I should have gone right.
Hiya Boo - sorry I missed you in the general Hello!!!
Unions used to serve a purpose. They have, however, become corrupt for the most part.

ok, I am starting to churn through the list...
Finally hit 1/2-way (tired)...going to list...back in a bit...
see you soon, pini!
Anyone need clues before I go?
Thats wonderful, Sue. My Dad is 84. We recently had to have his licence rescinded (sp?). He came home one complaining about the bad manners of other drivers. Upon enquiry, we learned he had gone the wrong way round a roundabout, incurring the wrath of other road users. It was then we decided that maybe his driving days were over!

*Falls over at the idea of an Irish woman considering a drink being poison*

The other is ur + 3 vowels
And another UR has three vowels following
Soodle, I think he certainly has to wait until he has full motion and response in his leg, and isn't on painkillers any more, and has sufficient vision (he has macular degeneration and just had cataract surgery before he fell). I really want to talk to his doctor to be sure (mentally he is fine)
And there is a ur4 which is a common babblet
got em! thank you all so much! I was struggling up there for so long...
Until about 3 years ago, both my parents were fit as fiddles. All of a sudden,at the ages of 80 & 76, they got old. Its very hard for them, and equally hard for us, their offspring. Old age is not as the adverts would have you believe... its painful, degrading and difficult. (sorry... I've finished ranting now!)
yw rose
yes, soodle, at 89 he's had a longer run than most; he's not ready to be any less independent than he's ever been but that time is coming (even if it's not yet here)
It is time for me to go rustle up some dinner. Happy Babbling all.
bye, wht!
Bye Wht, and well done!
i know it soodles,my da was fine till about 67 and his body is falling apart now
so who watched "watson" on jeopardy this week?
then again,so is mine;(
Sue, my Dad was in hospital recently. I went to visit him, and he complained bitterly about that 'Ould fella' in the bed next to him. (The 'Ould fella' was about 15 years younger than my Dad).... you gotta laugh...
Hey - the Jeopardy thing is big here in Europe - How did Watson do?
yes, my dad is complaining about being in a place full of old, sick people (most of them are not significantly older than he is, but many of them are in fact significantly sicker)
watson won - i think his ringing in speed was an unfair advantage.
hi folks
And is that the finale, Hurshy? Have comptuers beaten humans?
howdy welki
Hello Welki :-)
no, humans who designed watson have beaten humans who answer trivia questions
i didn't like him as a contestant, but it occurred to me that he would be a vast improvement over alex if we could get him to host the show.
Hi, welky!
LOL Hursh!
lol, hurshy! (not that i ever watch, but I get it...)
i don't often watch, and it's because of alex!!
a computer would never have that "oh, how could you miss such an obvious one" tone of voice

By some weird osmosis-type thing, whenever I watch quiz shows, some of the answers lodge in what remains of my brain. I usually can't remember what I ate for dinner yesterday, but I will invariably remember what the capitol of Peru is.
then i could have played hostess all day. "welcome to my grid!"
lima!

Yay Hurshy!!!! :-)

ooh, they are now calling for mild weather monday!
well, the capital of Peru doesn't change, so you only have to learn it once! Last night's dinner you have to keep relearning every day!! :-)

Still kind of crappy- major headache for the last 48 hours. thanks for asking- it's always nice to have someone to kvetch to.
such a headache I have.
Those stomach buggy things usually end up with bad residuals, like headaches and depleting fatigue. Hope it's over soon.
i've been headachy this week too kap - maybe it's the weather?

Along the lines of "first, let's kill all the lawyers" (except JMC)...we need to "get rid of all the blood sucking insurance companies". I so want to start a revolution.
yes, there's that
ty rhorn,i like your clues best
i agree!
Revolution starting in Wisconsin.
That movie "The Rainmaker" came out in '97. And yet no one did anything about the health insurance rape it portrayed.
actually lawyers are better than insurance companies,at least lawyers have a vested interest in yo winning the case, insurance compaines get the most out of you for the lest service
All I can hope for is that these maniacs that just took over Congress will be so outrageous that the whole thing will blow up in their faces. They voted to defund Planned parenthood today- for any purpose.

Hi there all.
Don't worry, it will never get passed the Senate. I just got an e-mail alert from the Nation (magazine)
Hiya Peach.
May I please have a clue for ur5-12 the 1st? Thanks
To hell in a handbasket

No, the first is ur + first three vowels.
Or is that some Enable way of saying pee.
Have that as the 2nd ur-5, Kaplan. Thanks anyway.
Now I have to figure out which vowels
Got it.
Thanks much, MollyL
Maybe it's the language they speak on Uranus.
haha
Ohhhh- I am not going to touch that one.
HA! Good one Molly.
stop thinking dirty.
Go ahead, let fly with the anus jokes. Who named that planet anyway?
Well, that depends on where you put the accent in Uranus.
Either way, it's spinach.
Yes Champ, but if you change the accent, then it gives way to ur5/12 jokes.
spinach, spinACH...
exactly. Who DID name that thing anyway?
Ur, god of Anuses...

*slap*
Hi dawg!! Long time no chat!!
it's been a while, Jilly. get a lot of snow over there?
snow, melt, snow, melt...sigh...just a few piles around. I here you're buried?
not buried here, but further north and west of us got a lot dumped on them.
Lost Trail has TONS of snow this year...awesome skiing (if one skiis--i live vicariously thru others--lol)
me too, bones dont heal like they used to.
bad knees and worse balance
yup, i hear ya, jilly.
how do you spell whipoorwill (not like that, obviously) ?
whippoorwill
Whippoorwill
thank ye kindly both :)
in stereo none the less!
i feel like i'm in an aviary :)
why is that, hursh?
Good evening....I have not been babbling for a few weeks and was just reading Jillyjill's profile...what happened to NancyBoy?
why is that is because in stereo the birds, the bird makes the sound of its name
nancyboy got malaria in korea cause his doctor told him he didn't need antimalarial meds to go there and then his liver got back because of the malaria and the chelation to treat the malaria and then he had a transplant but his body didn't take it and he got pneumonia and he did not pull through. :(
April..link http://babblersanonymous.yuku.com/topi c/593/Condolences-on-Nancy-Boy-s-Passi ng
liver got BAD.
sorry if that was a bit abrupt, i'm used to summarizing plots of TV episodes for people...
Oh my gosh - I am so saddened to hear that. I am the "silent babbler" (for the most part) but always enjoy the blogs - his was often on when I was playing and while I've never met him or any of you I feel a connection...what a tragedy :-(
I hadn't played in a couple of weeks, came on 10 days after he had passed...we chatted many times..broke my heart.
I really miss NB. Every once in a while, we get to making jokes about things, and I half expect him to chime in. He would do that. You wouldn't know he was here, and then there he would be. With someting funny to say. He was such a bright spirit.
crossy misses NB..:(
It
It's a sad thing. You hate to hear of someone so young passing so needlessly.
(((group hugs))) all around...
(((hugs)))
hi champ, hi stid.
oh and hi crossy
hey lbd
((stidmama))
and molly...i need to pay attention to who's here!
down to 82 earlier, want to get to 70 now, then I will go scrounge for supper.
to summarize....hello everyone!!
I think of people like NB as a bright light that passes quickly through this lifetime. And I'm very glad I got to experience that bright light.
How's his significant other? Anyone know?
no word, Champ.
Hate it for him! So hard...
*Quickly fixes some warm supper for Stid so she doesn't have to scrounge*
ruru should know a local winery is for sale... does he want to produce his own?
it's called E.B. foote winery
I hope Frank has been reading the yuku page.....
Hey, Ruru was on here today saying there is a possibility that he will be playing doubles as Agassi's partner.
well, when he does I hope it brings him comfort.
wow Molly...that's cool!
babblersanonymous.yuku.com in case anyone needs that link under meet and greet I think
that would be fun...
Thanks for the link - my heart is so heavy. He was always so witty! I laughed out loud many times at his clever remarks. It's really hard to wrap your brain around the fact that in this day and age people can still die of something like malaria.
WOW!!
will it be televised molly?
No clue, it was just a very brief few comments from Ruru.
I had some time on Christmas day to check in here. NB was in the hospital at the time. There were some other folks here as well. It really made him happy that he had some people to chat with. That will be a Christmas memory for me always.
well, I am down to 70. will be back later probably. stidkid #2 has a migraine. I just realized he needs to head out.
gah. too much, too many things to keep track of. *poof*
bye stiddy..((hugs))
That's nice Molly. I'm sure it made him happy too.
brb too
later stiddy
You never know how much your brief interaction with someone may affect your life, or theirs. A great example of why we should live in the moment and appreciate each other.

hi jes
chocolate blueberry salad dressing for the win!
back to finish...anyone else still on?
for a bit hi Jilly
just got here, jilly
hi jes and dan2!
hi dan
Hi all. I'm not sure if we're 'allowed' to talk about NB's death on here after the stuff I read around the time it was announced. A sad loss, though. April, re your comment about malaria. It's a disease that still kills 781,000 people each year, mostly frail children from the sub-African continent. Mosquitoes have killed more humans than all the wars put together ever have. A mind-boggling fact really.
Hi Jacula! Despite the dangers, I really think people here need to be able to share their grief on NB, especially those who have just found out...
Hi Jacula. I agree with JillyJill
Jillyjill - I agree.
I just know when I found out I needed to share with those whom would understand...hopefully the one who took issue will understand..
I think there were only 2 people who were against letting us know.
One was influenced by the other
Incidentally, nrkii's Dad died earlier. He'd been in hospital for a little while.
Thank you for letting me know about NB.
They didn't want gossip or rumours, but I have only seen love and respect expressed here
So much sadness for our group.....
I just saw the news on Facebook.
very sad :-(
sad for nrkii :(
i'm sorry to hear about nrkii's dad. i hope she's doing okay.
Poor Nrkki
Bug - we don't do gossip or rumours here, I don't think. We just take people as we find them, either befriend them or not, and feel sorry when they go, for whatever reason.
Even when death is to be expected, it still hits you like a brick in the face
I agree Jacula but I work with Hospice so I see a lot of different ways people grieve.
I think one individual felt the grief they were feeling was somehow more valid than ours because they knew NB personally.
It really is hard to explain what we have here. Seemingly so superficial, but you sure realize the depth when something like this happens...
Bug - I know.
I count you all as friends or else I would not speak up
Bug - the 'I know' was in response to all 3 posts you made.
I really feel there is a sense of caring with most of the Babblers and some days, that is huge!
Take my Dad for instance, he (the person we knew) had been gone from us for years before he physically died. His death still hit us hard, though.
Thanks bugs, you said it all and said it well.
Jac, sometimes I wonder how I will feel when my mother finally lets go of this world. She has Alzheimers and has no clue who we are
Yes, I think we're a pretty caring, and tolerant, bunch.
Sometimes I wish she would let go and be whole again and then I feel badly for wishing it....
Bugs, I will never forget one couple I had as a RN in Hospice. She made him sourdough pancakes every AM, the dough kept in a small stoneware jar. When he passed she put his ashes in that jar...some family appalled...I always thought it was a great way of saying good-bye.
I think it's easier because they are already gone in some ways. My dad had Alzheimers.
I love that Jillyjill!
Bugs - well, my Dad had that, or a form of it - Lewy Bodies Disease, as you probably know. There is relief in that they're no longer upset and confused or just suffering and dying slowly from starvation (the swallow reflex goes eventually), but losing them is still hard.
People can be so creative in the ways they grieve. It never ceases to amaze me how much stronger we are than we think we are
Bugs, it is hard to see your Mom fade away... ((hugs))
that's a really sweet story, jilly
Grieving is a very individual thing. A gentleman in my building has a wife he recently put in a nursing home because she suffers from Alzheimer's. He grieves now even though physically she is still her. My heart aches for him.
I guess I've already told this Babble audience the story of when my Mum picked my Dad's ashes up from the funeral directors' and took them home in her shopping bag, popping a loaf of bread she needed on top on the way back home?
Yes, I think it was easier when Dad passed because I had already said good-bye.
It is hard snags. My mother is nothing like the person who raised us. She was loud, flamboyant and vital. Now she is just the shell that held her spirit. That kind of grief is hard
your Mum is a practical lady Jac!
I faced that possibility in my hubby this fall. Couldn't see the man I married; personality so flat. His diagnosis wasn't that, his treatment helping but still I fear....
Bug - I know what you mean. My Dad was always vital, never loud but he was a wonderful Dad.
It is so very hard. ........ again ....... my heart goes out to anyone suffereing a loss.
aw Jilly.............
thank you snags. My heart goes out as well because we have all had many losses
I think it is important we support how each individual grieves and never jucge...goes back to those who were negative toward us discussing NB..
Bug - well, Mum was waiting at the zebra crossing for the lights to change so she could cross the road when someone who knew both her Dad but hadn't seen them for months - they used to meet up when dog-walking in the hills - asked her how her Hubby was.
When my first husband died, i nearly went insane. I finally found a site called widownet.org
Jilly I am so sorry! I fear losing my dearheart so much more than losing a parent.
It saved my sanity
Bugsaw, you have reason to fear the death of a spouse. It is so..................
All these various dementias....so tragic!
snags - thanks for posting that site. I'm a divorcee now living happily 'in sin', but that site may well help others.
My friend's dad has alzheimers, she describes it as slow death in degrees
I made note of that site too.
actually, the site is only for those that lost a spouse. sorry
Anyway, back to Mum with a red plastic jar in her bag, containing Dad, and it was 'bloody heavy' she told me, with a loaf of bread atop. Oh, and the person enquiring how Dad was. Mum said she felt like opening her shopping bag and saying, 'Here's in here, actually!'
but I work with Hospice and could pass it on to grieving spouses snags. I hope I am way to early to need it for me!
Jacula, you live however it suits you.
please do pass it on Bugs.
Jac she didn't!!! I was thinking she might be tempted to but that is hilarious!
The part I used is the BB2 or BB3 cant remember
I will check it later snags. thanks
Bug - she DID! I'd have felt the same and Dad, having the same black humour, would have found it hilarious, too.
my pleasure
if I try target one more time...
you Mum is great Jac. I can see where you get your strength
my phantom is tangent
hey all
Thanks, Bug. I'll tell her.
Hi Stid.
Ok, I give...need clue for ta6/18
hey stid. Hope you are well
Hi stid, how's stidkid?
Jilly jill - ta6/18 = one who works leather or one who lies in the sun to make skin brown.
he'll be okay. by the time we got where he was supposed to be he was feeling a lot better. his migraines tend to be fairy manageable.
ahh NOW I see it..thanks jac!
I am well Bugs, hope you are also.
stid - 'fairy manageable' migraines? Does Tinkerbell dispel them? *grins*
JillyJill - y/w.
oh my gosh jac! rofl (was reading back)
I am well. Woke up to snow but by the end of the school day the sun was shining so we went for a walk by the ocean enjoyed the beauty of it all
Hi Goodenough.
sounds like a ne4-perfect day bugs!
hey good
stid what do you do for his headaches?
Bug - nothing like a walk on the shore to get your spirits up. Perhaps not an ankle paddle, cold as it is right now. But the sea breeze and the sound of the rollers is food for the soul.
we give him excedrin (on doc's recommendation) and they seem to do the trick. However, I am concerned that they do seem to be happening a little more often than they used to. Might need to take him in again to be honest.
that's the caffeine + acetaminophen (no NSAID)
that's what i use for mine but i never know if its ok for kids. how old is the kid?
he's about 6' tall... LOL old enough for this.
ahh...FW
YAY jilly!!!
not too challenging today...lol
gh6 anybody?
and i believe it has aspirin so not good for young kids
builds on the 4 dan
repeat last letter
no, the "migraine" one has aspirin, but the "tension headache" one doesn't -- the key is actually the caffeine which changes blood vessel diameter; the acetaminophen just handles the pain part.
gh6 = a horse-drawn cab used in India.
does lickety have it wrong? it's listed before the 4
I am sensitive to NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen, so we avoid meds that contain them.
Sounds like a man's name.
dan - no idea! I didn't list today.
okay...need new glasses...gH not gN..sorry dan2
cool. got the gh6! thanks!
hagn everyone. see you all tomorrow
you too dawg!! nice seeing you again
got it tx jac
sweet dreams LBD
Oh, the foxes are doing all their mating noises outside again! Hope they don't wake the rest of the family up!
'Bye lbd.
??? *wonders what mating foxes sound like -- cats? frogs? upstairs neighbors?*
'gnight, dawg
Well, must go and practice my music...Just so you all know...this group means so much to me...((hugs to all))
stid - let's just say they're noisy.
sweet dreams jilly -- enjoy your weekend!
'Bye jilly. Enjoy your music.
thanks stid *poof*
and jac..
g'night, jilly
ok my last re is stumping me, anybody still around?
Stid - here are all the various fox sounds http://tinyurl.com/6x7dyhc
I am here but likely don't have what you need...
LOL thanks Jac!
i'm here, dan, but won't be of much help, i think
nm got it! firewords
I was mistaken about what I heard being a mating call, because it was the first in the film you will view. They must have cubs already. An early litter.
YAY dan!!!
you okay jes?
that's interesting... we have some early signs of spring here too.
how do you mean, stid? i'm good. had salad with chocolate blueberry viniagrette for dinner. hard to beat that.
Last re on my list is 'viewed again', re6.18
mmmm. that sounds lovely.
just not doing well with the grid tonight... still have 56 words to find, and they aren't happening easily...
it was. i'm making bruce add it to his recipes to bring back for repeat performances list :)
I am at 48, but need to take a break soon.
good idea! (adding to stand-by recipe book)
he's started putting them online, if you care :)
http://brainweevil.com/food/recipes
hm.... thanks!
oh, that steak nigiri looks nice (can't have cow... but maybe chicken?)
i dunno if the chicken would flatten well...but can't hurt to try, right?
exactly. can't hurt to try, and even if the looks are a bit unusual the flavor is probably going to be nice.
I am going to send tom the url so he can see the pasta recipe...
jes - if you want to hammer chicken flat, wrap it in cling film (saran warap) first.
*wrap
well, if it totally fails on texture, you will still have rice and chicken, and nothing wrong with that!
bruce says it'll work fine with chicken. similar to cordon bleu only totally different.
LOL similar but totally different! *grin* *waves at bruce*
when is bruce going to start babbling???
he babbles over my shoulder sometimes.
btw you are in the grid today, "jes"
i am! i must be famous :)
nef's there too
I hate people Babbling over my shoulder! I suppose it's because I'm a writer. We tend to like to keep our word things to ourselves until they are ready for publication. LOL
or infamous. *wicked mama grin*
so she is! LOL that's funny
Hurshy was in yesterday's grid. Never seen my net name in the grid yet, though.
Speaking of writing, how's the story going Stid?
You seemed to have so many blogs going that I lost track of where it was in the end.
no time for the story Jac -- maybe when I am done writing this gol-durn master's paper.
please excuse me for wandering off
I do that sometimes. Don't intend to be rude tjp
Stid - you are forgiven.
it's okay Bugs ((hugs))
Bugsaw - you are forgiven, too.
Heck! I feel like the Pope, doing all this forgiving.
thanks. can you give me a blessing too?
thanks Jac -- I will let you know when I get back to it. Last time I looked at it I started to criticize things ... and so I need a good deal of "space" and "time" to sit with it and get back in the groove.
Bug - I could, but I was Christened C of E, so it might not count for you.
*makes a swirly sign over Bugs, dusts her with sparkly sprinkles and blesses her for the coming days of Spring*
good-hearted blessings always count, in my opinion
May I please hav e a clue for re6-18 next to last re6-18? Thanks
I thot you felt like the Pope?
you have my blessing, for what little it's worth, bugs :)
And, at heart, I am one of 'the old religion' aka Paganism. That's probably why I said, very politely, 'I don't want to be Christened, thank you very much!' when the vicar who gave me the creeps even at 4 years of age, tried to hold me over the font.
thanks for all the blessings anyway. I am C of E too :)
However, the holy water, and booze fumes, were forced on me.
my Granny used to say "God bless it" every time I said something cute or stupid. I could never tell the difference .
LOL Jac! I can just SEE you doing that!!!
i think the dressing recipe from tonight will be up momentarily.
stid - glad you can see it, 'cos it's what I did.
good for your granny, bugs. my granny was similar -- she loved us all the same, even when we were being truly beastly
cool, jes!
gap - re next to thelast re - above or below?
above, thanks, Jacula.
re5/10 next to the very last re = to view again.
re5/10 above that describes how a runner did the race again.
Have that one, dear, need the re6-18 above it.
gap - well that's something you use to make cheese. Re = consonant + what you use to catch a fish in.
re6/18 was my last clue.
Re + consonant, I meant, etc.
well down to douglas adam's answer to life the universe and everything.
So... I think I will depart. Bugs, I hope you have a lovely, restful weekend.
(((hugs and choclits for all))) *poof*
have a good night, stid
Blimey, it's puring with rain outside now! I've got to take my 'old lady' shopping trolley down to the village later. I may need to don one of those plastic rainhats as well. :-(((
'Bye Stid.
recipe is up, stid :)
bye stid. hugs to you all
mmm. I see it! thanks jes! and thanks Bruce! **smiles** *repoof*
46, wasn't it? The answeer to life and everything.
Or even the *answer.
I don't remember having a watershed moment at 46. LOL
42
Was it Jes? I've always been rubbish at maths.
Mind you, I don't think I had a watershed moment at 42, either.
Word have always been 'my thing', never numbers. Even when it comes to money, large amounts sound far nicer spelled out. LOL
