hello babblers

hi and bye stid!
hello s'mom
Well, that's it for tonight -- 48 left for tomorrow -- goodnight/evening all...*poof*
finally took the time to read your story, jilli - as usual, you researched the theme. Well done, joes make one think
**does, not joes
I just took first think old that popped into my mind
didn't take much researching, flosey -- I just googled Old Stuff Day and this came up
ah, so it really is a "Day"
I didn't take the time to google
bridge here tomorrow, still a bit of tidying up to do
But your "old stuff" is magnificent and the story is so wonderful!
didyou finish this grid?
oh, thanks jilli, we were very pleased with the makeover
yes - and it took the time I should have been using to prepare for tomorrow
fabulous, flosey! As you can see, this old slowpoke didn't yet. I think I'll be staying home tomorrow -- I hope you heard about the huge winds we're expecting.
not so bad today, down to 72 so should get it finished after supper tomorrow
yes, hope it doesn't mean we can't get our game in! am really anxious to be finished with the AH games
oh -- thought you said youo had finished--but 72 left?
no, did finish yesterdays, the 72 is what I have yet to get of today's
who do you play tomorrow?
Vonnie and Ruth - again, they're the couple we play twice
they're always fun
Oh, that should be fun.
then our last game with April and Susan
next week
our last will be Friday night, as I mentioned. Dreading the drive but my GPS should help find it in the dark and the rain.
have been hoping to get over to the Bath, etc shop to get the bits and pieces I need to complete the powder room - like mirror, etc lol, and door knob
have been hoping to get over to the Bath, etc shop to get the bits and pieces I need to complete the powder room - like mirror, etc
just monkeyed th6 and 7
clever you -- I don't have them -- clues?
Wondering how St. John's Wo4 got it's name...
Google may tell you, douglas
oh yes, you're coming way down the south end, too bad it's in the evening, that area is so dark at night, but your GPS will get you home safely
I'm hoping the GPS will help me FIND the darn place in the dark
it should jilli, houses are spaced and lots of trees, and rather long lanes was my impression, Is. and I played there but we started before lunchtime!
Well, I said I was going to bed a while ago, so...*repoof*
I don't think I've ever played a night game, but some newer players are younger and work - making even more difficult to organize
ok, goodnight jilli, I'll be going soon
i say you should invite yourself for supper and go early while it is still light out...lol
We're not going to do AH next year -- too much hassle.
now there's an idea!
I've decided same jilli
don't know about my partner but she won't have any trouble finding another
haha, s'mom -- these are working women and don't have time.
*unpoof again, lol! Your AH partner and I really messed up on Monday!
she does play a bit differently, but we met for coffee and talked over conventions
Good night all
good night Douglas
Oh, we get along fine --- we were just both in la-la land that night.
We've had a chat about conventions when we had a sit-out
I've been there a fare bit lately! poor hubby
night douglas
Well, you did okay last night
yes, felt good to come up a bit
I really must go -- have a good time tmw...*re repoof
tks, sweet sleep
please could I have a clue for the th6
do you have th5?
add a cons to that, then plural for the 7
th5 is an abreviation for someone who is particular about completion, etc
I read that book th***ughly, and loved it!
morning all. how many words today please
TY Flosey for all those.
hi Sandra. 230
thanks
yqw lyn, was beginning to think I was alone here
but should get to bed, should be able to get last 55 tomorrow evening before flip!
Just came back from a Stew walk which turned into a mad dash to a vets (not for Stew thank goodness).
hope the other one will be ok?
Seems so, its owner thought it was dying - no movement and bleeding from the mouth - but perked up a bit after about 10 minutes. Tiny tiny dog accdently smashed into by a running whippet
really must get to bed now, 50 for tomorrow, goodnight all
night Flosey
that's more like it! Yesterday's grid, although fun, was rather overwhelming. Who has enough time to complete such a grid?
Hello, Ruby, i must admit i did finish the grid yesterday & play eight1 games..lol
you're a better man than I, zzoozz!
I bloody hope so, Ruby, you being a lady and all..LOL
hello ruby and zooz
I finished yesterday's too, although I did use Lickety when i got down to 99 words
I finished yesterday's but didn't get any housework done!
Hi MM
hiya
Hello, Flosey & MM :-)
hello flosey! I spent a couple of hours, got nothing else done, and only got fews=er than 300 words! It was fun, though
hello MovieMan!
OMG..i did not mean that in a sexist way..think that came out wrong.
does anyone have a clue for re7 please
you could never offend me, zzoozz!
I don't think you need to worry zooz, seems a natural enough response
I meant it as Ruby said better man than her but she is a lady not a man..oh never mind...lets try and clue the re7 instead.
I was thinking of Rudyard Kipling.....
gunga din!
hahah
great idea zooz
re + two letters + like a hose water ***
or re7 re**w the seeds + a powerful *** of water hit me in the face.
thank you, zzoozz, I had to just work that out blindly but your clue did it!
tyty, finally got it
phew..yw :-)
17 left and it is now 2 minutes to 4: a.m. must get some sleep!
good night all, once again
never seen 4AM!
Yes i noticed the chog you were supposed to be getting some sleep a few hours ago, Flosey.
Hope you get some sleep, Flosey :-)
sweet dreams, flosey!!!!
Must admit, this grid is going smoothly, although still need 43 more.
I'm not quite a third through, but so far, so good
any clues for the 8's?
ro8 compound word flower & whats just under the soil.
the under the soil part, being what the flower uses to get its water.
that is definitely obscure but thank you, zzooz!
did not want to make it too easy..lol
for me to get it, it had to be easy lol
I don't understand enables food choices: why nori but not rosti?
trot
got that one.
sorry, is there desert in the PB?
there is some grated potato & cheese on top in there..lol
I would love that!
i know..you did say Rosti..after all :-)
do you cook, zzoozz? English specialties like Shepherd's Pie and Bangers and Mash? Local food here is awful
I was a chef for many years, but have not worked for over a year now.
what was your specialty?
sauces mainly...but did all sorts for a hotel.
when I was young, my fantasy was to open a country restaurant with a couple of friends. She was a fine French country cook, he was a carpenter and handsome, and I had the ideas and know-how. Needless to say, it came to naught!
That is a shame it never happened, i am sure though there are many people who had ideas but never went ahead of them, not much comfort knowing that..but at least you are not alone.
it would have been in rural New York state, and we would have bought an old house and lived upstairs.....
Funny you should say that, as i have never even thought of NY, having a rural area..always have imagined it as very high rised buildings..i should of known better really.
I lived in a tiny city (fewer than 90,000) 200 miles from MYC, Binghamton. It was a beautiful place surrounded by hills and small and big rivers
NY state is very big
Sounds like an ideal place to live, Ruby, i can hear the birds singing and the sound of the streams trickling...ok snap out of it me..back to the real world..lol
he, in the foothills of the Alps, is even better. More birds, a garden, dogs, pretty house.
Binghamton was a dying town, losing population every year
here*
2 more for half
Down to 19 here and slowing fast.
Talking of singing birds, i need to top-up my bird seed feeder, bbl...Nice talking to you, Ruby :-)
do you have fringillas there, zzoozz?
we have two kinds, pinsons du nord and pinsons d/arbres
yay, half!
Morning. I was so disappointed that I couldnt finish yesterday.
who has that much time, red?
If I had been off work I think I could have done it. I stopped at like 165 left.
I think I had 278 words when I threw in the towel
it was a fun grid.
I spent more than 2 hours on it, just didn't have enough time
I loved it, but it was very slow to enter words
indeed...It was forever long
this grid is also very nice.
well, I am only 74 words in, so maybe it isnt/
126 words and taking a break. the first 100 were fine, now it is much more difficult for me! duh
{{red}}
See you later ruby.
If anyone is here, has Champfit been around?
Champ??
Hey red...just getting on...what's up?
Red???????
Champ!!!
Sorry I went off!
I have a question...
still here...
So The sellers bank has asked me to sign the "arm's Length Document" and also asked for a copy of my "pre-approval letter" from my bank. Is this a good thing?
Yes! They're making sure you're good for the loan. They're actually looking at your paperwork!
Yay! I am assuming if they did not like the offer, they would have already outright rejected it?
Well, I can't really say that. Sometimes they don't look at the actual numbers as far as what they need to get on the house until late in the process. What bank is this?
No one will tell me which bank it is. I know it is not Well Fargo, as that is my bank.
Ugh. I really do not want to start to haggle over things and I hate to admit it, but I want to get it at this "steal" price.
Wonder why not? Odd...but I'd take it as a good sign that things are at least moving forward. Yay for you!!!
I'm feeling positive, and of course, panicky. It is a commitment to live here! (Which I have done for 3 years already...so...hmmm)
with the short sales people have tried to call the sellers bank for information and in general so a lot of things are kept "se****" so the buyer doesnt start to harass the bank!
Yes but you never know...and you can sell it later...things have to bounce back eventually. And you'll have awesome equity right off the bat!
yes. the town home sold for 250K and is now going for 89K. All Granite in all bathrooms and kitchens, and TILE! I love tile with the dog.
Red, sending good vibes your way. Looking forward to your house warming party. : D
Tile is the best, you're right. Swiffer that stuff right up!
thanks Molly! It will probably be some time in June!
I love tile! though it can be slippery.
Area rugs...no biggie!
and when you get bored, you can get a new rug...
I can't believe the drop in the price of that house. Property hasn't tanked that bad around here, thank God.
I can not wait to get real furniture.
Florida really seems to have been hit hard Molly.
? What do you have now?
Crates? ;)
Oh the put together stuff from Target, but I have no kitchen table...
I also think Molly that the home was initally an inflated price. It is a tiny townhome!
Oh, then it will be fun to furniture shop.
I just have to wait. No big purchases! But I have been saving cash, so it will be really fun!
Red, that happened to a woman I know. She had this little house that went way up in value, but then dropped back down before she could take advantage of it.
How is everyone else doing?
oh not good Champ for her.
OOoooooohhh...I can't stress enough...do not buy anything while you're waiting! Credit drops so easily!
hi all
Hi praise.
morning!
Luckily my credit apparently is over 800. but still.
been a long time
yes it has. How are you??
Yes, but if you went and made a purchase on credit for anything, it would move. Credit is weird.
doing pretty well
home in bed recovering from surgery
credit is odd. I will pay cash for the furniture. I actually pay cash for everything. But...I still dont want to chance it. I cringed paying rent this month!
Oh No! I hope you are recovering well Praise??
Oh I lied. I financed my car.
pretty well
Liar pants on fire! :)
have had my ups and downs
Glad to hear it. Surgery can take so much out of you, beyond the actual procedure!
Apparently, it's a bad move NOT to finance your car. Cars are crappy investments.
true
yes it can
they are, lose value immediately. I am delighted though with my prius right now!
Praise, hope you're feeling better soon.
Is your family/friends helping out praise?
I have a friend who drove up next to me in a prius, and i never heard her coming!
sounds like you are buying s house
that is exciting
Gotta get a kid out the door...bbl! Good luck red!!!
Good morning friends! I have a question I would like you to weigh in on....the Boys have gone back to school!!!!!!! Do I go back to bed or hang out and get laundry & work done?
back to bed.
tthanks Molly
I have a new car for the first time in 12 years. It's like Christmas every day.
Bed, laudry can always wait
No brainer. Go back to bed.
Praise...so glad to hear that you are recovering! {{gentle hugs}} I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!
I love doing laundry, but bed is nice too.
and yes trying to buy a house praise since january.
You love doing laundry?
Ok I must dash for a few minutes to take care of doggie. hi Car!!!!
I think I will start the laundry either way...but maybe I should DO something with this time?
hi Red!
*Scratches head at "love doing laundry"*
Oh before I dash, I do indeed LOVE laundry. I do not like doing dishes however at all...
everything smells so good when you are done.
ty Car
Hey, I was wondering...has anyone heard from Jellen lately? I miss her.
Not sure, but I think Lil Monkey hits Jellen up on Facebook.
Molly... I love vacuuming. It is the instant gratification I think that makes me like it.
Now, trust me, I don't do it nearly as often as i should...but when I do I like it.
Red...check out the new Yankee Candle scent..."Fluffy Towels"....it smells just like fresh laundry!!!
Red I thought you had purchased a house
I think Red is brb
You are right Praise!
all this talk about chores around house
<----------Doesn't like house work at all.
Not my fave either molly....necessary evil.
you can all come and do mine
:)
If I were closer I would Praise! Always enjoyed cleaning others' houses more than my own!
I seem to do it round the clock, but none of it floats my boat. I do like to get the sheets washed, just because it makes going to bed that night so comfy.
hubby is trying to keep u[
up that is
How long will you be recuperating?
feel bad that he has to do it all
<==== getting coffee...anyone need a cup?
It's been my experience that when men do house work, all they do is come to you with question after question.
car I am not sure
have recheck with surgeon next week
had back surgery--do can't do much
sn7? There is a past tense of sn5? I'd love to hear that used in a sentence.
Oh, it's not a past tense. It means drunk. Probably a British term.
don't have that one yet
Does the U words have to do with peeing?
Hi all. I could use a little ( or a lot) help. I need a U for nbt. Any takers out there?
Fishing for a clue now gramma!
Sorry...and Hi!
Why, yes I believe I am.
Molly...how are you today?
NO...I meant I was fishing for a clue as well Gramma! Oops!

dahn
sorry- I am fishingtoo.

That's ok. I own up to it.
Gramma...I used to have those shirts for my 2 boys!!!! They outgrew them, unfortunately, but I still refer to them as thing 1 and thing 2!
Kap....dh 4/10 for the D
My son brought them back from a trip for them.
TThank you Car. I needed that.
I cheated and got the U. Want a clue?
Now for the u on the left...
Yes please Gramma!
How do you cheat? Yes I do.
want the clue that is.
ur + vowel + I'd rather walk **** drive.

TY gramma! Not a very ordinary wo 4!
Here's a clue we can use later.
I'm off to work now. ( late but I had to do it ) BBL
Bye Gramma! TY!
Cockney- You're savages! ur 'eath4!
Sounds like.
LOL!
NBT BTW
Must do the dishes from 3 days ago. You think anyone would get that clue?
Those fluent in Cockney might!
of which I am not. Good morning everyone
{{Mom}} How are you?
(((Car.))) just dandy, thanks. How are you and the little ones?
hello Mom
good morning Praise, I haven't seen you for a while, I hope all is well
They are both off to school this morning!!!! {you may all now start singing the doxology!!}

hi all
Hi jmc, glad to hear your test came out just fine
JMC!!!!!!!! How are you?!?!? I was wondering how you made out?
i have the heart of a 20 year old and the police help me over for questioning ;-)
{{gentle hugs for JMC}}
so happy to hear the test came out fine, jmc
Good to hear!
and hello everyone
(((Annie))) good morning
Hi Annie!
Anyone weighing in on the big Charlie Sheen interview last night?
I have 2 words...train wreck.
((Mom))) baseball season is nearing, thinking of Alex
i feel sorry for charlie sheen
Hi car.
where was that Car.? I saw him briefly on Piers Morgan night before last
It is just sad, isn't it?
20/20 had him on last night.
Oh Annie, indeed it is. Opening day March 31 here
I just heard on the news that his kids were taken from him this morning with police supervision.
totally agree Car
there is nothing the poor man can say that will get anyone to believe he is off drugs
they apparently gave the kids over to their mom
Especially when he acts they way he did last night!
fel so sorry for thr kids
...Take me out to the ballgame...
what did he do last night?
He was off his rocker night before last. No one goes on and on like he did and not be on something
take me out to the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks...
He is going to OD one day..
actually people who are withdrawing from drugs and bi-polar do
i don't care if I ever get back ....
I don't care if I ever get back.
Well its ro4, ro4 for the home team....
I think so too, Annie
* should be 1 more ro 4
If they don't win its a shame. . . .
And its 1, 2, 3 strikes your out......
{{everyone}}}
one, two, three strikes youre out
jmc, he was going on to Piers that he didn't believe in rehab, he is doing "home rehab"
AT THE OLD BALL GAME!!!!!! Play ball!
at the old ball game
i think he is a man who is trying to get his act together but has to do it in the public eye
AT THE OLD BALL GAAAAMMME
It was rumored that John Stamos was to take Sheen's place on 2/12 Men. Stamos said that wasn't true, but that Martin Sheen wanted him as a son. : D
i saw part of the piers interview (not much to do in a hospital with no laptop)
2 1/2
I don't know if he is or not. He seems to be totally delusional.
Annie, Alex hasn't heard from the Reds yet as far as a schedule. I am hoping he hears soon.
((jmc)) glad you are back home
I think Sheen is deeply into addiction with a big dollop of personality disorder on the side.
well denial and delusion are common with drug problems
Mom, He will, I am sure
ty mom is alex a fan?
<---- LOVES the Red Sox!!
I am praying so. He will start work with the Frontier League the middle of May
oh a baseball player!!
Alex does camera work for the Reds
oh no, JMC, not a player
what a fun job! I wish I had it.
I am afraid now the Charlie Sheen's kids have been taken, he will spiral.
and for the Frontier League he will be in charge of the camera crew and scoreboard operations
What an exciting job!!!!
Car. is his wife still with him?
No.
great experience for Alex
he is thrilled, just a shame baseball isn't year round
I think so too Annie
I feel sorry for those without resources that battle everyday to beat demons that afflict them.
He is living with 2 women, in his house, both with sketchy pasts and habits. He makes it sound like a Woodstock karma-filled commune.
I didn't know Car. I get most of my entertainment news here on Babble
i heard an interview this morning where he said he didn't know where his kids are and he was not panicing because he was sure they were with their mom
BR!!!! I do too. But it upsets me to see those who have access to the best resources just blow them off.
Amen and hello BabbleRabble. So good to see you
Hello.
He knows where they are.
you know car there was a time no one would have made a big deal of that.
hi BR!
BR! Great to see you.
Hey.
I agree Car. Those who "have" should be taking advantage of the help they can afford.
And then do what they can to help those who don't "have"
No one would have made a big deal out of what?
Hello, Annie.
Pay it forward.
his lifestyle
BR...how are you?
jmc, I had to do a double take on your icon. Alex has one just like it
I am doing pretty good. How about you?
I keep entering L words and I already have them all.
of the pic of my son taking a pic?
Hanging in! Kids are back off to school today, so I am spoilng myself!
yes jmc
my son has sold a few pictures but not tried to make a living at it
I do not go out of my way to read about Sheen.
However...I am starting to feel guilty....
I took the photo of him
me either BR but he is getting shoved in my face these days
Yup. Coverage on every news show
NOOOOOOO car do not feel guilty!!
our oldest has his degree in art and photography. Not making a full time job of it either.
I do JMC. I should be working and cleaning.
my son is about to graduate (at 25) with a degree in business
Good for your son.
no, you should not. you can do it later. pour yourself a cup of coffee and play with us
I am a bit sad...I only lost 2.5 lb on my diet this week. I generally lose more during the first week and I am a bit disappointed.
he has an unpaid internship that is suppose to be a paying job when he graduates
so...if I clean, do laundry, etc. then I will be active.
I generally adjust the scale to my liking.
That is great jmc!
Mom...very cool!
car that is good--you don't want to lose too fast
I can't do that any more BR.
I sure hope it pans out for him jmc
Oh I know. But as I said, usually the first week I lose more. as you can tell, I have done this before!
well, sinick that i am i will believe it will be paying when it actually is
senick senich
Mom..does he take photography jobs such as weddings and such, or is he truly in it more as art?
damn sometimes i wish i could spell
I wish you well, car. Perseverance will win the day.
cynic
TY BR!
well car maybe going slower will help it last longer
ty car cynic cynic cynic
Really, I think me not sitting on my fat ass so much will make it last longer!
why didn't spell check know that was what i wanted?
lol go for a walk later!
Too cold. I am thinking Wii fit.
oh no JMC, he said he would NEVER do a wedding. He has taken pictures for the Cincinnati Art Museum's magazine.
Turns out I am really good at rhythm kung fu!
beside you need to go to the pb with me
He took photos in his senior year that the professor really liked, he bought them and they will be placed on permanent exhibit at the university's library
well the reality is that most people who make a living at it do do weddings
good afternoon all
I was just curious.
My friend Michelle is a photographer and she does work for J.Jill, Reebok and such.

hi CadFan, bye Kaplan
Try Cockney- You're savages! you're 'eath**s. It sounds like that, but is spelled differently.
Thats for the ur.
I want to wait and see if you get this.
Ur : ethyl carbamate(s)
You're h 'eath**s! Drop the h.

Later.

I've returned, should get at least half before i have to head into work...Hi sprite, Cad and kap and Bea and lurker ppl
wb red
and I am at half way. Now to try for more! how are you doing sprite?
crossy pops out of lurk, waves and dives back in..sploosh!
I think I will go get an old stuff icon.
am ok, bit of a setback in energy but none of my therapists is surprised, so I guess I shouldn' be either and just go on :) How have you been?
hiya crossy! Great spandex outfit you have there!
hi again, all! Just finished breakfast, having coffee (made quite expertly by Dad)
wow did your Dad make you breakfast, that is a good sign, uusue!
Oky, I have an Old stuff icon now.
oh that is great :D
cute, red :-)
today is "old stuff " icon day apparently!
Well, I made my own breakfast except for the coffee, but he did a big-deal cooking of dinner on Sunday (which we just finished the last of last night).
So he is doing really well.
yes it is, see my profile for explanation :)
SOunds like he is on the up and up...
He took a shower this morning and now sees the utility of a shower chair.
am very glad to hear it, uusue.
He's also decided that he can install the second stair rail himself (!)
oh Wow!
sounds like you have been doing miracles for his morale as well, uusue.
fireflies. Friendly grid, except for that ugly re7/48.
I think so. I am VERY glad I was able to come and help him.
I think so. I am VERY glad I was able to come and help him.
Yipee Sprite! Clue for the ugly one?
Sorry for the double post (Fingers! Obey! Click only once!) and congratulations, sprite!
re + **journ + very fast airoplane
working on it, thanks!
ok, that's weird, sprite
let me know if you need more :)
thanks! sprite
OK, if I grade four more te**s I will have them ALL DONE.
I just started a beef stew in a crockpot...never cooked with a crockpot before
.
.!
crossy loves his crockpot,i do everything in it,roast beef and taters and carrots, home made chicken soup/stew,chicken and dumplings, sweet and hot pulled pork...etc
ooh, yes, crockpots are really nice.
hi crossy, just toss everything in and forget about it.
goooooooooooooooooood afternoon fellow babblers xxx
ok I am off, bye all :)
yuppers,best way to cook..howdy froggie
crossy, low heat or high, what do you think for a beef stew?
yo crossy xxxxx
hi frog
low,for the afternoon,i hardly ever use high
Except when they don't work - many years ago I had one that I loved dearly; put a nice duck in it in the morning, came home from work, cold duck. Yuck.
bye spritey
Hi, frog, and bye, sprite!
okay, thanks, crossy
hiya sue xxx
and if your crock pot is older and perfectly round, hop out and get one of the newer oval ones, they are great
brand new, just bought it crossy
and make sure the liner is removable...cool annie;)
yes, it is :)
was using mine just last night for home made chicken soup
There are crock pots that don't have a removable liner? How in the world do you clean them? I've had an oval one for years.
some older ones, the liners do not come out,you have to fill them with water, put them on high and scrub
That's awful. What a pain in the ass way to clean them.
I did the Coca-Cola roast beef recipe over the weekend. That stuff has such a good flavor.
i have the biggest oval one i could find, heaven help me if i ever drop the liner!
with a crock pot,a foreman grill and a hotplate, you hardly need a oven anymore;)
any clues out there??
Um...what would you bake in? I've had cake made in the crock pot and it's good and all that, but there are other things you can't bake in it.
what do you need, mkg?
do not bake much at home anymore molly with the cost of flour, yeast, eggs and other ingredients,i find it just cheaper to go to the bakery and be there when it all is still on the cooling trays
92 words left! but no list yet so dont know. sorry annie. i have no e words for e that is second column, top one. have the bottom e word only.
let them burn their electricity..our hydro is set to go up 40% in the next year...will be lucky if i am not burning kerosene for light;/
mkg, et4--our beloved volcano
No list for me yet
ty got it annie
Our prices for flour, yeast and eggs are still pretty reasonable. And to me, half the fun of baking is the smell you get when you bake. Especially bread.
ec4---a color
i agree with the bread smell in the house...mmm
what is the coca cola roast beef? sounds enticing
Holy crap! 40%??? How can they do that? No one is going to get a 40% cost of living raise.
it is coming molly, sad but true,we have to pay for ontario hydro,s mistakes now;((
there is a mass struggle here now to get solar planels on the roofs of houses,a full set on one side of an average bungalow costs 20-30 thousand, you set up a seperate meter and sell it directly to hydro ,they are buyinjg right now for 81 cents a kw
a set of panels can be paid off in 6 years
we are currently being billed 16 cents a kw,but add 40 percent to that in a year and you can see why we are all running for the panels
it is cheaper for them to buy from us at 81 cents a kw,than the heavy importing they have to do in the summer
smart new builder are putting the panels in at the start along with a green car hook up in the garage
holy cow, 81 cents a kw? I pay in the single digits per kw most days (US cents instead of Canadian but I think they are similar)
about par atm uu
so we are paying 16 per kw..for now
My favorite technology - geothermal heat pumps. Don't have one myself (city wouldn't permit it 10 years ago, didn't know what it was) but they are allowing them now.
Here is the Coke/beef crock pot recipe. It's hard to find the envelopes of dried spaghetti sauce mix. I use the McCormick dried Italian chicken seasoning
2 - 4 pounds of chuck roast or beef brisket 1 cup chopped celery 1 package of Lipton's Beef Onion Soup Salt and pepper to taste Red pepper flakes to taste 2 teaspoons chopped garlic 2 teaspoons of paprika 1/2 cup ketchup 1 package of spaghetti sauce mix 1 cup Coke (don't use an impersonater) Sear the meat in oil for a few minutes on each side. While that commences, mix up all the rest of the stuff in a crock pot. Put the seared meat in the crock pot. Turn it once so both sides get the juice. Cook it until it's falling apart. Turn every hour or so.
I have a friend who put one in; she said that if she put a solar panel on her roof she could go completely off the grid.
ty molly have it saved
indeed,uu,but with ont hydro paying 81,we are better off sell for now
then you do not need a bank of batteries,or a converter box
help withe the ur words please...
the dc to ac converter is 7000 dollars
and each battery is around 60-100 for deep cycle storage x 90 units
true, crossy
some homes may need less
the nice thing about the geothermal heat pump is that it replaces both heat and air
but right now i don't have any of that :-(
heat pumps do rock, but we are tired of the grid here..really,really tired
Hello all -- up and at 'em... need to do still more revisions on the paper.
(stidmama)
jeff, the ur words (ur7 and ur8) are pee-like; the 8 is the plural of the 7
hi, stid!
ur + actor Hawk, or Fromme...of the Edith Wharton novel.
sue -- a bit of advice for me?
sure, stid!
ty both!
selling it back at 81 cents a kw,we can cut our costs by 80%,hence the 6 year payoff on the panels
if my utility was buying at 81 cents I'd put them in too!!
Sorry, actor's last name is Hawke.
okay, this is a review of the literature. how "accurate" does the abstract normally need to be for something like that? I mean -- it appears on the surface that published abstracts are really sketchy, hitting only the high points... is my impression correct?
it will not last but 6-8 years uu,once they get the infrastructure updated, they will stop importing on heavy load days,so now is the time carpe diem!
Stid, all the abstracts I read in college were like that. Hence the term "abstract". : D
:-D yes, that is what I am thinking, Molly.
well, stid, the abstract shouldn't be INaccurate, of course, but it doesn't need to include everything that's in the paper. Just enough that someone reading it knows what the topic is and enough about it to know whether they want to read the actual paper or not.
abstracts are like picaso,s work..reality is almost there;)
okay, that's what I was thinking, sue and cross. I sent the paper by email at midnight, but have until 10 am today to make changes. So... back soonish. (((Hugs all))) thanks again *poof*
Abstract = High Falutin' Cliff Notes. : P
wo** count today?
230, grant
Thank you

I am a busy bee this morning...just made ziti with sausage and have a beef stew in the crock pot. I wont have to cook for the rest of the week.
I've been babbling, just had little time for chatting.

I HATE when I'm in the grid! That's why I waited so long to ask for help!

If peri had similar misgivings, she'd be in trouble. She's in the grid every other day!

It could be a money making scheme for Dr-God.

All that talk of roasts has made me hungry!
brb - gonna check the freezer
I am here because I stopped putting things away so I could have food
Cross, have you really not heard of ziti? Or do y'all Canadians call it something else?
there are 40 or 50 types and cuts of pasta, have not used them all yet;))
y.all..i love it eh? hehe
and do not blame me for the poultine..it is those darn quebecers;)
I noticed that the Brits pronounce pasta differently than people from the USA
have some errands to run, bye dear babblers
It's a different a sound
tc annie;))
Bye, Annie.
ahh-looo-min-eee-ummm foil
Good morning, all!
howdy judi
Hello, Judi.
The boss ( read, Hubby ) is gone on an appt. You know what they say....when the boss is away; the wife will play.
i used to be the boss..but i lost it..do not know when or where i lost it,but it is gone, but then again i see the bosses job and i do not want it;)
What's up with the ro8? I keep looking and trying to no avail. Clue? please.
ro8 - look to the very bottom part of a red flower which symbolises romantic love.
Find the flower, then its deepest part.
ty Haz. I'll ponder that
Hi fellow babblers!
Ahh. Got it. TY
Hello, beach.
did any among us finish the monster grid, yesterday?
Hmmm... deepest part....
I did.
The bit under the ground...
I did, don't kn ow how

Do you know penne pasta crossy? Same as ziti but smaller. And BF is up and I will bbl
Hmm. That word his highly suspect.
I thought it was humungous; but , not too weird.
i use penne all the time
and rigatoni and spegetinni
wtg bichon! not me, got halfway
ok - then you are set! BBL
Bye, hootowl.
about 8 basic ones i use on a regular basis
i keep my kitchen uncomplicated,8 pastas,6 herbs,6 spices, spuds, veggies 4 or 5 fruits so a small pantry can make as many dishes as possible.i do not need to sort through 40 pasta,s or 100 herbs and spices cause crossy is a busy boy;)
assorted animal chunks in da freez and i am good to go;)
the clan does not complain and they do not lack variety..spoiled brats;)
i have about 50 spices and 2 pastas (3 counting couscous)
Going way back to the beginning of this...Annie thanks for mentioning baked ziti. I haven't made it in a while.
I have a pretty extensive spice and herb collection too, JMC. Some I buy, some I blend myself.
mmmm baked ziti; one of my all-time favorites
i blend some myself like steak rub curry and gorham masala
baked ziti was my hubby's favorite dish
by the way, crossy... I love how you said "assorted animal chunks" lol
*sigh* but i need to cut back on steak
and cheese :-(
I am dutifully eating my salad with no fat Italian dressing on it for lunch. Boring.
Hi all......clue for de8 please??
de+****on hears a hoo
then pt and pl
I need to cut back on everything, except exercise, which is difficult for me, due to back probs.... what a dilemma!
ah but i have back problems and my physical therapist gave me stretches i do when i exercise
dr
thanx jmc!!
thanks for the jmc
you can walk and do seated weightbearing exercise as well
hello everyone :)
yw
This looks better than yesterday!
hi cyber
no kidding!
I have degenerative disc disease... what type of stretches do you do? Do they help?
by the way... jmc I always see your name as jmncrick - jimminy cricket... until I look closer =)
i do a very gentle version of the cobra
lol i would be proud to be jimminy cricket (except i like to have more fun th** he does)
I have started using a recumbent stationary bike. Walking is difficult, but I recently got a brace, so maybe I can do more of that. Cobra a nice pose; I like it a lot.
JMC...thats only a 7
and i do deep knee bends holding on to a bar to build up my legs (to avoid bending at waist to pick up things)
when you are better maybe you can do some leg lifts from the floor to build up your abdominal muscles
I have degenerative disk disease too
just had surgery a few weeks ago
in the mean time you can always stand (or lie on your back) and suck them in over and over again
flask PT
whats pt?
My disc between L5 and S1 is basically gone, and the most degenerated part of the disc is on the outside, so my stretches need to open up that area, between those discs. I have a couple more that are beginning to degenerate. BTW.... what abdominal muscles?? LOL... I really need to work on that the most, I think.
well do what your physical therapist says and not me
well that is the thing you know beach, a strong abdomen protects your back
then the other stretch you want to do is the cat
if you want more info about the stretches please ask
'tis ok....got it now, thanx!
Peggy Cappy's Yoga For Arthritis DVD is very good. She does her exercises with two other people. One of them always does the exercises from a seated position, to help people with mobility problems.
I know! I have totally let that go, and am paying the price now. Yes... cat works well for me. I do need to MAKE myself work on the ab strength.
the cat done very gently will help open up those disks
good to know molly--i belong to a gym that is totally supportive of older women (although there are some really buff guys there too) and work with a trainer 1/2 hour each week to keep me moving forward
u stats, please?
@Molly; I will check that DVD out... @jmc, I should start my day with several cat stretches. I practiced yoga for years, but I have let so much go by the wayside... Have to start back!
i hate the gyms where they all look at you funny if you are old and fat
phone
That's eye candy, jmc. Incentive to keep going to the gym!
nbt/nbs
I HATE it when the buff guys make loud noises as they lift weights. That is so annoying. And so unneccesary.
I am not one who likes exercising around other people. Hence I have a treadmill and two exercise DVD's instead of a gym membership.
Ah, the E word, one I need to do more of...I hear you about the back problems, beach - I've had both my knees replaced and three fusions in my neck; when you can't walk and can't lift anything it's hard to get exercise.
Now I can walk (although not run) and I can lift things but in the meantime I gained a lot of weight. So it is a process. Listening to the physical therapist is a good idea.
And I finished grading all 200 exams! Woot woot woot!!!! (which ought to be a wo**, dammit)
is it me or are the d's on the right hand side invisible?
omg everyone's run off and left me to fend for meself!!!!
hi, frog, thought I was talking to myself there for a while!
I do have the right side d's, though.
hello sue!!
have been on for ages and only got one of them!
they are all weird.
let me know if you want clues, stats, hints, or anything.
ok will do xxx ty
Hint for re7,48 please???
uusue, I could use some help with the re7/48. Please.
ahem
Erda, great minds can't think alike.
Can, too
can not
re7 - re, two letters to sound like what other people do with needle and thread, then the sort of plane that gets you somewhere fast.
can not can not can not! Nananadoo-doo
Hi, all. I could use a hint for se 5/18.
TY Fireworks!
Well done, gramma!
Erda, could you tell I've been spending a lot of time with the grandgirls?
se5/18 - se plus what oarsmen do to propel a boat.
Okie dokie...back to work. bbl
great...thanks Haz!
couldn't, gramma...
You're welcome.
back
haz that re7 can u reclue it cos i dont understand the needle and thread part lol
back again -- hi to all who have come in
** a needle pulling thread, me a name I call myself
ok, sorry, dad just decided he wanted to drive. Now I am back.
frogface, it's two letters to sound like (not the same spelling) as what you do with needle and thread. I
sorry that is te a drink with jam and bread
ty jm xxx and haz xxx
cr 6/21 - 4th one, please?
you did suggest that dad not drive yet?
Time for Sound of Music revision classes, jmc.
Fa a long, long way to run!
darn i forget it unless i start at the beginning! lol
cr6/21 - first three as with first cr6, then first three letters of the very wise Biblical King.
He's just driving in the driveway for the moment.
and that brings us back to do do do do
And I'd be wise to head to the kitchen to make some food! Enjoy the grid.
I think that is the 2nd one haz
bye haz
Don't get me started. I can sing the whole score word for word.
Guten Tag, and where do I find today's clues?
dodo ;-)
lickety has a list inge
looing for the cr 6/21 that follows 'sings like Bing"
*quickly hands cyber a bedpan*
howdy inge;)
pl?
After that fall down our stairs on Jan 27 I learned today taht I did not break my thumb after all. No broken bones in 74 years.
is that a clue jmc?
great news, inge!
well down inge! i broke my foot some years ago so i can't say that
yes cyber
PL!
you are fortunate inge,i carry a cd-r disk from my hospital when i travel, showing locations of all pins and screw for when i set of the detectors, that way i do not get the search con significance lol
not getting it
plural
A bedpan is a clue for that word?
*gives cyber some glasses*
does that actually work, crossy? I set off all the alarms and get searched anyway; I was told that notes and other evidence wouldn't help.
no bedpan is not a clue lol!
she said she was looing
pl was the clue
it does if you get the disk right from the hospital along with a dr,s note and contact numbers
oh -- lol -- instead of looking
that way i avoid the bend over and cough search
My son has a titanium pin in his hip. He just has to go through a separate scanner at the airport. You don't need any medical proof.
it depends on the airport i think crossy

Hello Babble People :-)
hi dc
howdy soodles;)
hello
hi soodles
i must go do some remedial emailing for a reporter, bbl
Nope Sue. The way I understand it, anyone with metal in them gets "special" treatment. : D
ty seain
That has certainly been my experience, Molly.
Hey Soodle.
Hi Moll :-). I too have quite a bit of hardware in me, and I dread going through airport security.
darn pins and screws, more arthritis than you can shake a stick at;/
and hi, soodle!
Tom has a set of titanium stuff to wear for airport security
Erm - that would be plates and pins etc, (just read back over my post....)
Actually the new scanners are nice for those of us who are bionic - the metal doesn't set them off, so no pat down.
:) gotcha
those are titanium nowadays too
got mine in 79 so no idea what t hey are made of,but i get the pat down everytime
yeah, my grandmother in same boat, crossy
Mine must be antiques! I got them in '78!!
lol

{poof}
i was run over by a car april 79;)

That makes it pretty easy to remember when it happened Soodle.
You betcha! I am always a tad wary when th 13th of the month falls on a Friday :-)

mmmmm thanks cross!
golden lab. He's about 15 weeks
really laid back. I walked in the door, he sniffed my feet, fell over slowly and went to sleep...
that is a very cute image
labs are great;))
he's a pretty cute puppy... wish Mother would pop on and show you-all a pic. Hold on. I'll see if she's available
Golden labs are adorable puppies. If they stayed that way, I would get one.

i can remember george carlin selling is shepard mixture cause the dog ate his stash lol

any other clues wanted before I leave?
hello babble friends... glad to see you again so soon, brabble!
hi hurshy
I guess no one needs help, so I am on my way -- bye :)
hi cnan and thanks for the U clue
hi again, all!
me being thick can i ask what a comparative word means lol
uusue, do you care to share why you chose the name uusue? some people's names are obvious - a computer savvy grandmother... etc... i get curious about the others
hi, hurshy - I chose it because I am a UU (Unitarian Universalist). Also it rhymes.
hi frog - a comparative word ends in -er, while the superlative ends in -est (so big, bigger, biggest)
Sue...love the icon! : D
aww bless ya sue - but i guess im gonna struggle wiv that ur7 even with that info lol
u + Hawke, an actor who was in "Dead Poet Society" and other movies...and plural.
Sorry...ur +
well, while everything uusue said about comparatives and superlatives is correct, this U clue doesn't fall into that realm. it's another word... more **** one but less **** three is two.
so how is han an ending for a comparative word?
forgive my ignorance lol
sorry, I answered without looking at the original clue (a bit distracted, Dad is getting more independent and almost fell again)
and i explained before you asked :)
Not "han" Frog.
hey all
no molly i know but the last two letters of word are an, and comparative word is apparently er
see my 1:01 post frogface dear
im not nitpicking, just trying to better my understanding of the language
hi, cathy!
ok hurshy - i'll just go with the flow lol and sorry to be ignorant xxx
Comparative in the sense that the phrase "I am better **** you" compares you and I.
i can't believe it won't take 'rosti'
but you needn't go with the flow, i explained it
and there, now molly did too.
oh, good explanation, Molly!
And it won't take "cred" or "woot" either. Obviously this dictionary has not been talking to my son :-)
i tried cred and woot.... lol
Oh Lord, am I sick to death of people using the fake word "cred".
it's just short for credit... what's the big deal?
or, i suppose, for credibility.
i thought it was short for 'credibility' too
yes i think credibility is really more what it is.
if you want to say credit, you have to say "props", lol
that's what I thought, hursh and cathy - lots of perfectly good words started out as shorter versions of other words (lab, for example)
lol
I'm not a big fan of over used words.
fan short for fanatic :)
you must hate "a" "and" and "the" (i tease)
Me neither.... but I don't fine "cred" that over-used really
find*... oops. lol
now, "segue" is very overused - or was for awhile there, maybe it's fallen off a bit now.
Okay, well you all have a nice day.
"anomaly" is one that is over-used in my company...
molly you're not leaving cause i teased, i hope???
bye, molly
I have mixed feelings about so-called made-up words - on the one hand it is good to be precise in one's language and not misuse words. On the other hand, language is an evolving thing, and all words are made up at some point or other.
i like to make up words, myself. i made up velocious, as a nice fancy word for fast. if you have high ferocity, you're ferocious; if you have high velocity, you're velocious!
i agree, uusue. some things just can't be bothered to get stressed about.
hi all
hi boobear
i feel nervous and it's very weird. the outgoing and incoming directors are about to have a talk with my soon-to-be-former supervisor about how she won't be responsible for me anymore. so why do *i* feel nervous?
hi, boo!
sounds like a rather weird situation, hurshy - I think I would be nervous too.
I love my made up word ... fantabulous!
and I made up the word baconification a few days ago :-)
lol
hurshy - cuz it's change.
I made up a word too - my divorce date is my unniversary! I celebrate every year!
and i am worried she will be mad and find a way to take it out on me, i guess.
lol jessmom, that is a great one (as long as you're not upset about it, i guess)
It was the only way to keep my sanity, hurshy, so I can handle it :)
what was the situation (if you want to talk about it, that is) ?
Hi Hursh
hello boo
He was a cheating, compulsive liar who spent all of the money that I worked for. I've now been at the same job for 15 years, and he averaged 15 jobs a year.
then you are clearly better off!
i feel like people are sadder when they thought they had a good thing, and then the guy left for a younger woman, or something, you know?
Yes, I am. Actually, he died in January. I was shocked to realize how much it hurt to lose him. I tried to make sure he had a relationship with our daughter...
that must have been a very emotionally confusing time
It was. Our daughter is turning 14 this month, and he was only 39. He was diabetic and took terrible care of himself.
sorry to hear that, jes (all of it!). Take care of yourself...
oh, no, jess - I hope your daughter is doing ok.
i hope you find good ways to help her deal with that - what a challenge.
Thanks uusue. It was a strange situation. I am glad she had a relationship with him, but I am also glad there was distance as well.
I am trying... There are some things that are going on at school now that I need to figure out. If only I knew what I was doing....
I have a similar situation with my son's father (he's still alive, though). It is hard. They have a relationship but not a close one (which is how my son wants it).
may i offer a suggestion? my parents are both alive and not divorced, and yet i'm in therapy talking about some of the difficult things that have happened involving them. i feel like if i had had some help figuring stuff out more at the time, it would have been easier and wouldn't have developed into depression and stuff. i wonder if a counselor would be helpful to your daughter in sorting out her feelings about her dad and his death.
**gentle hugs for jessmom**
hey again all
good idea, hurshy - I think sometimes we are afraid of counseling, and it really can be very helpful.
hi, stid!
I have thought of counseling. She has discussed the situation with teachers and the guidance counselor. She was present at the meeting with the doctors to talk about removing Gary from life support. She talked about this with them.
hi stid, thanks
my parents both need counseling themselves, but won't go. and yet, my sister IS a counselor! they ought not to see her, of course, but i think by being so down on the idea of going to anyone, they are sort of insulting her chosen profession!
jess, there are some good grief support groups as well, specifically for teens and young people
for NBT, the (presumably) fishy D on the right please?
sounds like a good start, jessmom!
i'm currently struggling with that D too, stid
there's a dh4 that's a boat, stid
thanks sue,
I sorta figured something like that
just noticed that I am more than half way :-)
NBT. And time to get ready to head out... a "career fair" today at the college. Semi-mandatory attendance. I hate this idea that we do all this work without knowing if anything is actually certain. *shrug* oh well.
good luck, stid - see you later!
and just past halfway now too. *smile* *poof*
just got another dh - d + who what where when why and...
unless that IS the boat
it is, hurshy
in which case the other one i have is d + the computer from 2001 a space odyssey... i think.
right, the lentils, hurshy
ah. lentils.
our conversation seems to have lost a bit of zip
*zip* ZIP ZZIIPPPPPPP!!!!
that's more like it!
(visiting nurse is here with dad)
and I am busily making up words that begin with T although apparently none of them have made the cut
and I am busily making up words that begin with T although apparently none of them have made the cut
hello, visiting nurse
now I am working on the top O
let me know how it goes. i have five, so can both help and use help :)
I'm trying to get at least half the words from each tile
that is one of my first goals also, but that right D is ruining it
hi all
hurshy, did you get your pancakes yesterday?
i did!
hi, peri!
:)
it was perfect timing.
thanks to all who advised of its existence :)
was it a short stack?
Oh no. I forgot all about that :(
yep, short stack, 3 buttermilk cakeroonies
thank you all - you've solved my dinner question.
which is PLENTY! my husband got a side of hash browns - don't know how he stuffed them in his tummy - but he said he would ordinarily get a full stack.
sounds yummy, hurshy!
does anyone one have more than 2 d's i have been struggling with them
I am thinking I need to get serious about losing weight, sigh
i only have 2 :(

Not solved yet CadFan ....couple of people working on it... still don't know what language is inscribed.
I'd love to send the pictures to some curator at a museum,... don't know how one finds links etc. to do that. I guess I'll just have to tell my friend to go to the Travelling Antique show !!!
thanks, Helena !
np!
anyone have the URs?
Looks like an old one of those kits they use for business peoples lunches in India. I have a number of Indian students - I'll have them check the inscription. Also have Arabic students (and for that matter Japanese, Chinese and Serbian)
I'm very intrigued by that Diane. I can't wait to find out what it is.
Rats. I hope it's something more interesting than a lunch pail. : P
ur, vowel, and ****k you very much
thanks!
and then plural it
and not sure about the bottom of the container, CadFan .... oh, and please do... that would be great. Krista, a babbler, thinks the language looks like a Slavic lettering of some sort
LOL. ... maybe a container for cremated ashes ? It's not very big... about 8 inches high... and then about 4 x 5 ...sort of oval shape I think
Every time I look at it, it reminds me of the things that they use to dispense incense in Mass.
but no holes....
you mean the container they used to swing back and forth ??
i always liked these containers.. i loved how they smelled lol
It's been a fun quest thus far...looking forward to the solving !
this grid is easy once you get past the C and D words
A tiffin - I think it's the top of a tiffin... a very fancy tiffin!
ce6/21 pls xxx
Found another one here: looks similar:

Mine haven't arrived yet!
Peri, let me take those cookies off your hands. What are friends for? : P
how thoughtful of you Molly but there are only a few left and I want to save them for later, maybe next time
i have 2 boxes of samoas on my kitchen counter. tempted to polish them off tonight!
oh, and good evening, babblers. :)
hye there Eva, did you get your pancakes yesterday?
i DID! didnt even have to wait. i was busy/crowded, but we were seated straight away. and my pancakes were TASTY covered in blueberry syrup (with sausages on the side)
well I just ate half a box of the choc min cookes. some earlier and the rest just now. thank goodness that is all I have here
glad you got them. hurshy got hers too
I must start exercising again, walking in the park at least
i need to start seriously exercising, hardcore. i have about a bajillion pounds id like to part ways with.
I have this roll around my middle that arrived some time lasst year and has refused to leave :(
I love the conversations in this place. Cookies, pancakes and exercise. : D
ive put on about 70 pounds in the last 10 years. id like to lose at least 50 of them.
I want to firm up and have more stamina
did you know that the mother on Family Ties is gay? She was on Oprah today? I had no idea
i do also want to get healthy, toned, stamina, yadayadayada... but i have to be honest with myself that first and foremost, what i truly want is to lose weight.
then go for it, Eva, you can do it!!
yes, i think she came out a few years ago...
I did know that, but I think she's just recently gone public with it. I think in her Family Ties days, she was married. I saw Michael Gross, the Dad from Family Ties, playing a gay man on Brothers & Sisters. He was very convincing, but he's straight.
she apparently went public about a year ago and recently wrote a book. She was alo an alcoholic
she seemed very happy today with her partner
I didn't know she was an alcoholic. That's interesting, because when Tom Hanks was on the show, playing her brother, his character was an alcoholic.
Wasn't she married to David Birney, from the Bridget Loves Bernie days?
yes but aspparently he was physically as well as emotionallly abusive to her during their 15 year marriage
Oh, that's sad.
she told no one when she was working on Family Ties. but she seem happy now
I never want to see another choc mint girl scout cookie. they had them at the food pantry today
not much will power when it comes to sweet things
'still so new at this. 68 more words to go
would you like to know how to make the thin mint cookies??

Evening Babblers!
Hi, Red :) wow, it's quiet in here, considering it's evening for you guys!
hi red
nice icon.
Seeing them together must be a wonderful thing. Carol King's music was the first thing I ever sang in public. She has a special place in my heart.
Well the grid was shorter than yesterdays so I imagine a lot of ppl have finished.
i was in the fif th row. james taylor, carol king, and jo mama
todays icon theme was "Old stuff day" so I got one!
my god, he was so handsome
Ah, I get you, Red. Have no idea because I can't see how many words there are!
Bleh, why do I always forget the E in Carole King?
230.
i want to suggest "produts that are ust not the same anymore"
I still think James is handsome TO. He's aged well. And he looks happy these days.
well he was a mess then, who knew?
Oh, thanks :) It's not so important to me, since I'm not playing to finish, just to test my english vocabulary
Wow. We have a big wildfire going on 50 miles east of here. and man the air is smoking.
I like to finish but, I almost never do because I dont use the list.
let me rephrase, I try not to use the list but when I finish I usually do use the list for the last bunch.
Back to icons...The Sauna Pants was the best. I think that should have gotten some kind of Babble Icon Award.
I still have that one in reserve!
yes, great one
de 6/24 # 2 anyone?

i saw james taylor in the early seventies... and then again a year and a half ago. some differences
i don't have either
Sorry, missed the #2. de + the first part of one who heard a Who. And plural.
And past tense.
de + ****on hears a who
where in early seventies?
oh, the woman beater is on. i will never like him . ever.
heard a who? say wha?
long island, actually... don't remember the venue. Oh, welll I always liked Jackson's voice and style
dr. seuss, ruru
i thought he was ok till that came out. poor darryl hannah
Seuss elephant Ruru.
god does this program take you back? loving it
BANG!!! Did you hear that? My Jackson Browne bubble just burst.
sorry
he was a bulloy, janmes was strung out...
That's okay. It seems to be the day for it. Today it came out that David Birney was abusive to Meredith Baxter.
crap...now I have to start reading dr seuss.thanks for the clue
well james was a straight up junkie and everyone knew it.
oh ruru, the places you'll go!
james taylor beat women?
but was he not just sooooo handsome
wow
Ruru is not familiar with Dr. Seuss. This explains a lot.
no. james taylor was a junkie. jackson brone beat darryl hannah
but if you don't want to get into seuss, try de + **wa*d Stern is another creep... and no, jackson browne
thanks TO I finally got it
thanks doren I mean

owl. Ken got tickets to see Carole King and James Taylor in nyc this past june, but of course we broke up in april. one of the things i felt bad about. that and the wine
you just need to varnish up on your clues
ooooh, good clue there ru
Ken doesn't deserve Carole King
with your permission: fie on him!
he always loved her... i mean, come on he did have some good taste.... gevrey chambertin, carole king, and moi of course
not unless he gives you lots of Arnoux Gevrey Chambertin
well roger that!
doren are there no tickets to be found?
well, he has given me some... and I feel funny about asking again, but he did say i should when I run out. owl, this was last year!
not anymore i imagine...
Still missing u's...
I wouldn't hesitate a second doren
re 7 anyone?
poly*******e is a kind of varnish mark
re + i like that wine ** much + I'm leaving on a *** plane
Thanks
"That and the wine". Dorens, you are classic!!!
I hate that word. thanks doren
classic what (afraid to ask, actually)?
To me, classic means priceless. *Wonders why Ruru hates the word classic*
re7 hate that word I can never remember it
oh, ok, i guess thanks then.
hi, all!
Hi uu!
hi sue... i have to go look for your phone number and call. you have any plans tomorrow? (i have physical therapy at 4, then at 5 i'm free
hello uu
in Doren's business Classic means something entirely different
:-) thanks for explaining ru
hi doren! Dad has a doctor appointment at 4:15 and after that we will probably go to Trader Joe's. Probably be home around 6.
Hi, TO!
which trader joe's do you go to? i need a couple of items from there myself... but none really near me
not sure, probably either Westfield or Florham Park
PB... Anyway, time for me to leave. I have testing tomorrow, and I must study. Goodbye everyone!
florham park is the closest to me... guess it is midway between us
hello my dear friends. really quite brainless at the moment, so grid is kicking me in the brain, but it is lovely to see so many pals here
doc is in whippany, so probably whichever one of those is closest to whippany; dad said he wanted to find the florham park one as it's moved?
hello trif
night, mark!
and hi, trif!
whippany sounds kinky
hello.
not as kinky as parsippany, which is right next door to me
hasn't moved as far as I know, sue... two months ago it was in the same place
lol, ruru!
parsippany sounds like a preist retreat
ha5/22 pls
have fond memories of parsippany as a child
I remember when I lived in New Mexico, one of my colleagues needed to call a place in New Jersey that I knew well, called Piscataway - the operator almost hung up on him :-)
goota love those lenni lenape names
yes, I'm not sure what he's thinking of, doren, but I have a map of it anyway
well owl, a lot of folks still laugh at hackensack and teaneck
we have a place in Mass called "Athol" that's always good phonetic fun
really.but hackensack has been immortalized in song and film
how do you feel about meeting at trader joe's and going next door to starbucks?
yes, I know that one too, trif...
"Oh Little Town of Hackensack...."
I would like to know where these last 68 words are.... :(
Oh one of them was the volcano, gee, I always miss that one and "iron"
Sure, we could do that, doren; sounds like fun!
t's ... wrapped up
lol let's see, billy joel, dave van ronk
*Hangs head in shame. Attempted to compliment Dorens and came out looking like I insulted her*
ok. i'll get there around 5:15 if traffic is not bad
and some old w2 song
ww2
nah, not at all mol. i asked, you explained, that's it. i feel flattered, no probs
hackensack.ack.ack.ack-ack
iron?
looks like it's about 10 minutes from the doc's office so we should get there around the same time.
drinking a very decent 8.50 bottle of wine.. sicilia rosso (colosi)
colosi is good
i'll send you my cellphone # -- and hopefully will remember to bring my cellphone with me!
Oh, watching this show makes me sad. None of the up and comers have this kind of musical talent.
<---final lap
13 here
I met Dave van Ronk when I was in college, TO -
ok, sounds good, doren!
I never meet famous people
was dating a guy who was a folksinger and knew a lot of other singers (this was around 1969-1970)
met me!!
amen, molly. to have lived through that era musically was amazing.
oh.. yes.. well.. that is someone famous I've met
dave van ronk was great
I don't remember him.. know the name.. not the music
i "hooked up" with Steve Katz, of the Blues Project... later Blood Sweat and Tears (not my finest hour actually) Also Richie Lewis (later a ridiculous shtick comedian)
LOVE blood sweat and tears
did you meet al kooper?
was just barely living at this point....
wonders what "hooked up " with means
LOL red, thanks for that! :P
Sue has been holding out on us. She is connected.
yup, he drove this big old cadillac and lived in queens
out here only old queens drive cadillacs.. so not quite the same
there was no bst without him. daivd clayton thomas? please.
i know this sounds ridiculous, but he actually used the term "blood sweat and tears" in describing how hard they work. as far as hook up, i dunno, ruru, but the kids use it a lot and it sounds satisfactorally ambiguous
I also went to high school with Meryl Streep (she was a year ahead of me). She was also at Yale when I was there (she was in the drama school, I was in the graduate school). Used to see her at the law school dining room, which was the cheapest place to eat on campus.
this was in 1965
kooper played organ on blonde on blonde...
oh my, you were a kid then
I went to school with the current state representative for Minnesota...not really the same ring to it is it?
15.. definitely underage!
OMG
not in arkansas
but we were in new york, ru
wow, doren, you were a lot better at getting out of the house than I was :-) - my adventures didn't really start until I was in college!
doren, if you noticed the woman in the wihite sweatshirt in the pic i sent you - that is mary higgins clark's daughter
oh, and she is a writer? mary higgins clark or the daughter?
Dorens and I could have gotten in a lot of trouble together. *That is a compliment* : D
mhc is the writer. daughter is a judge
hahhaha
i think i was a hippie before the term was there.. somewhere between beatniks and hippies.. then i married the guy who went to med school and settled down for 20 years
evening folks.
how's the grid?
nice feather
hello feather. I think it's a mixed bag tonight -- some are seeming to love it, but I have found it quite challenging

Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
nite red
:-D I don't think it's the best possible, but people who read it (including my faculty person) say it's pretty good -- at least, it meets the requirements.
hello Min! I am TIRED. how about you?
course it is stid (pretty good)
does it get graded, or is it just a degree requirement?
It is a degree requirement. My college doesn't give grades, but if it did, based on my understanding of what is appropriate at this level I would grade it B-
I am tired also&about to give up on this monster grid
I want to get down to 100.
fireworks. clues?
hi Min..how are you
Tomorrow I have an "interview" with a local elementary school principal to see if my next student teaching should be in his school. I am going to do a little bit of research -- my hunch is it won't be a great fit.
YAY doren!!!
Congratulations Dorens on fireworks!Hooray for you!
yay, doren! How about the first so?
anyone have good advice on how to get the stink out after a sewer back up?
hi, boo!
Hello boobear! I am well. Working on a story of clues.

it smells from the organic gases, and candles can help
BUT. make sure it's just sewer gas, yes? Not from a gas line...
ok thanks stid.. figured you or someone else in babbleonia would know that. can smelly candles be used?
oh no, it was a backed up toilet... trust me on that
sure. just you don't have to.
LOL doren!

I am stopping at 200 wo4/9s. Now I will lend you a ha 4/6 with a story of clues. It's no se6/21 I'm addicted to Babble.I love it when Babblela4/6 is cr5/22ed with ho 6/24 of people. Hubby is a sn4/4 when it comes to Babble. He gives me a sn5/10y attitude every time I babble and it really te4/4s my patience. He has tried to de 6/24 me from babbling. If I have to endu4/6 his addiction, then he has to the same for me.In fact, he plays Farmville more th4/5 I play Babble. He spend to 4/4 of time on his farm. Once hubby is on Farmville, I can't st 5/10 his attention away from it.Who is he to make such ru4/6 comments about my addiction? Our addictions is the ro4/4 of a majority of our problems Sometimes I believe I should throw this computer out into the st 5/10. Cr4/7! Hubby wants the computer. I already told him to cool his je4/9 and get lo4/4, but that was two hours ago at the on5/10 of my babbling time. He is such a lo 5/10 when it comes to Farmville. Wish I could send his farm animals to the no5/12 pole where they could freeze to death. Anyway, I better give him the laptop or he wo 4/8 leave me alone. It is not wo5/20 it to argu with him since I know I wo 4/8 finish the grid anyway.Hope you have made no4/4 of some of my clues I wr 5/18 in my story. I am going to watch a BrandonLee movie: The Cr 4/9 for the re4/4 of the night.Goodnight babblers.I'll see you tomorrow

(he said he was going to send me some details, so may be off writing the email)
I know...I can't get up that far to visit this time...sure wish I could tho; would be nice to see you and Bugs again, and meet Flosey! :)
Well, it's not really a good time for me -- other things already booked.
Hi, jilli, i'm bak. I'm in Seattle 14-16 April
Stid did say she would be interested but I don't know if her schedule would allow it just now.
oh, my bad...I was a little off
sorry, i've been wrapping up a few things to get to bed
<-- not a great itinerary planner when it's not my own trip! LOL
where are you on the 17th?
Hi all. Just arrived to hear the news that seain is coming west
wait, Seattle 14-17, depart SEA for Portland on 18. back to SEA on 20 to fly to SFO, then in SF 20-25. return home on 26

April 14 - 16 is better for me -- must see about Bugs and Flosey
Belated COngrats Pini! - I am going to quit with 85 to go. Jakester is having a rough night.
congrats, pini -- saw ur sparklers glancing back
See you all later- HUGS
Hi bugs -- lucky you just showed up -- what do you think about Seattle?
ok...lunch on the 18th or 19th in PTD, dc?
thx DR
ooh, sorry to hear, DR...hope he feels better soon!
sounds lovely, pini :)
danke, dc
hope jake's better soon, dr
19th probably better, as i don't know what time we'll be in town on 18th.
I can shoot for the 18th...are you leaving SEA in the morning (3 hr drive to PTD)...
gotcha
I have to work on the Friday so I would probably only arrive in time to wave goodbye on the Saturday
i don't know as yet, pini. i'm sure we can if that works better for you.
read again, bugs...corrected to 14-17 (leaving SEA on Sunday)
too bad. I would love to meet you Seain
(or monday morning)
leaving SEA on Monday AM, yes :)
ok.... running to calendar again
* sounding like a lot of "road trips" are going to be arranged! *
are you meeting ru in SFO?
i do think so, pini. i'll check w/him when we intersect here again
dc -- do I have your email address? Min's at the end of my bio.
hoping to see some HS friends in Portland and SF, too.
cool!
my handle here at gmail.com is my email
what a fun trip...hope we're not making you alter your original plans too much to meet all of us!
wish we could all go to SF and meeet with ruru
agreed, jilli!
I am sorry but I will have to decline the opportuinity. I have to work on Friday and Monday and with a 3 hour drive, customs and ferries all before reaching the US for another 3 hour drive, I know that I would be too stressed to have fun for the 20 minutes I was there. ;)
indeed not, pini :) I was hoping to meet several people along the way
i'll need to get a passport and come to Western Canada then, bugs
if not this trip :)
and i'd love to get back to Montreal. Been too long.
Oh darn, bugs, but I see what you mean. And dc, get that passport!
That would be so much fun Seain! There is lots here we would love to show you
You'll have to come and see Salt Spring Island and so on...
does anyone know how jmc made out with her tests?
oh, yes, that is in my plans for my 1st trip to BC, jilli
Come in the summer.
Hello all.
summer is best and Jilli's garden is gorgeous!
Summer in the NW is lovely. I'll be curious to see how different Apr is from July
I haven't seen anything about jmc's tests, bugs.

Bugs, I hope your busyness was good.
Just scroll back a bit, ruru -- He will be leaving Seattle for SF on April 20.
usual work for school stuff and for the course I am taking. Lots of reading and designing. I do not have the energy stidmama does for all of it.
What course is that, bugs?
i've offered to show him around and/or meet him and his friend in the city.. don't really know the schedule.
he said he'd be touching base with you soon, ru

First Nations course. I want to design a book that a kid who refuses to write can write about himself and his culture without him knowing he is writing a book.
LOL ruru
