oh, I missed him
Hello babblers
hi jilli
how was your game?
we got the cards -- but what a night for driving there! Thank god that's over!
oh yes, in the rain, and so dark out there
I was so grateful for that GPS!
I bet you were
rain and fog patches too
oh yes, fog is bad by the lake
hope she had a bridge table! we played on the diningroom table there, which was a bit of a reach
fog was all over the place
ah, was out this afternoon, but home before supper
she had a bridge table but we played in the kitchen -- her hubby was installing a washing machine
I can hear the fog horns now! hadn't noticed before
did that create a bit of commotion?
but the decks of cards were weird -- either huge numbers and sticky old things, or what we changed to -- regular size cards but ith little stories about Canada instead of the regular dots and pictures
oh, that is distracting!
makes you feel like taking a couple of decks with you when you go to some homes!
the washing machine thing only lasted a while at the outset -- Jane had been helping -- be we played in the kitchen because hubby was home.
*but we played...
you know, it's funny, I read it as you intended!
missed the error until you corrected!
anyway, AH is over, thank goodness. I've enjoyed playing with Gisela but that'a over too, regrettably.
oh, is Gisela not playing next year?
this is my last - and mean it this time
we both decided not to play next year
ah, I do enjoy most of the games but it's such a nuisance getting the 4 people together

congrats and hello crys!
thx jilli
I was hoping to encounter an Aussie -- have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGoNbrO Dq8U
Hi and thank you Jill
hi herin -- glad somebody saw it!
http://tinyurl.com/47y86h9 This is Amanda Palmer covering Ted Egan's The Drovers boy. I know the quality isn't great but I tell you what the entire theatre when I saw her sing it you could hear a pin drop
thanx for the link, jilli, twas wonderful...xxx
you're very welcome, diz -- glad you enjoyed it. It even made me gulp a bit, on behalf of my Aussie grandparents and cousins.
good morning everybody
the x word was first, I remembered it from ca couple of days ago
how are you dizgrannie?
The Drover's Boy has a haunting tune but I couldn't make out the words much. Not familiar with the song, I'm afraid.
hi ruby
HI Ruby
{{big hug for jilli and herin}}
Jill it is about a Drover and the death of his ''boy''
ah, got the 9 -- nbs at last -- and 65 left for tomorrow. It's bedtime for moi.
The boy was actually a woman survivor from a camp
I'll google it, herin.
Sounds like some Australian history I know nothing about :-(
So farewell all, and happy babbling...*poof*
http://tinyurl.com/4jponyk Website about half down
*back again -- I did google and found this Ted Egan version: http://tinyurl.com/47y86h9
Yes he is the original writer and singer. Amanda Palmer was breath taking
Thanks for the history clip, which I've bookmarked. My Australian Granny gave me a book when I was four, which I still have: "The Little Black Princess" by Mrs Aeneas Gunn. One of my Australian cousins remembers actually meeting her.
Mrs Gunn, I mean, not the Princess!
And now I must go to bed -- goodnight all again..*repoof*
sweet dreams jilli
Night

Afternoon spritey sprite!
hiya FM, sorry for the typo, didn't think anyone was around to care :)
LOL only one of those is PB worthy anyway but I won't tell :)
hehehe thanks :) How are you today?
I hope you are well this fine and sunny Saturday?
Am feeling pretty good, sun makes all the difference.
am not altogether well, but slept as a baby last night, with good dreams to boot, so am a lot better than yesterday :)
A good sleep is worth it's weight in gold.
I woke up and thought hmm it must be time to get get up but the clock said 2.15am so rolled over and got up at 6.
we don't have sun today, it is a dark day. Oh good you could get back to sleep :)
I have trained myself over a long period of time to go back to sleep. I will send you some of our sun and springish weather (it is +7) yay!
oh lovely! And enjoy, FM. Sounds like a good day to charge up the batteries.
You will enjoy the grid today and should finish it fairly quickly, it is a fun one.
thanks :) It is fun so far for sure.
HAve you spotted the x is the same as yesterday yet?
yes :) The rather mystical repeat of grid words shortly after one another.
I am sure I will have forgotten it by the next time it crops up! Hows the family doing and Terra too of course?
family is fine! Terra didn't want to eat this morning, but has finished his bowl now. Otherwise he seems fine.
Hello (((Sprite))) (((FM))))
hi Soodle :)
How old are the kids now I forget, I am sure they must be growing up so fast. Soodle!!!!!! great to see you!
All well in your world Soodle?
tim will be 15 end of May, and Caya has turned 13 last month. It is amazing how fast they grow up. And I still like them most of the time :) Love them all the time of course, though that is not the same thing ;)
Like yourself, FM, the sun is shining here, and although I didn't win Euromillions (again) - all is well!
hehehe in dutch we have a saying: either lucky in love or lucky in the game... meaning you cannot have both. So you must be lucky in love, Soodle. That is the best part *hugs*
lol Soodle. 15 and 13 oh my, well I guess as we have been babbling so long I remember them being just kids.
Yikes, plenty of hormones chez Sprite!
How are you, FM?
7 years already, FM! They were 7 and 5 back then, aboutish.
oh yes, Soodle, hormones aplenty. Back in a bit, need to hang up laundry.
Pretty good thanks Soodle, v happy at the longer days and above freezing temps.
and of course the clocks go forward at the end of the month. Am already making plaing plans for the garden.
And the daffodils..... don't forget the daffodils! They are on the point of blooming here. Its been a long winter!
*planting plans even!
My minature ones are already flowering the standards - probably about another 4 days.
Good morning Spring lovers. I was just watering my tomato and green pepper seedlings.
Good morning springy Molly :)
Hey MollyO. :-)
Aargh. Just got the 'Low-Battery' warning. I better go... Have a great day everybody. 'Poof'
I really really hate the winter it really brings me do4/9 but as soon as spring starts to show itself then I start to bounce.
Byeee
Looks like a rainy weekend here. But this is the time of year I know that it's good for the growing things, so I don't mind so much. And rain on the weekends is easier than rain on work days.
so true Molly. I can't wait to get stuck into the garden now that the soil is starting to warm up.
phone, gotta go.
morning all
back, hi Molly, bye FM and Soodle
and hi praise
hi sprite
Morning Sprite & Praise.

It's probably not a good sign when the first word you type in is sh4
LOL Molly
I'd say it is a very basic thing, Molly :) Don't forget to make more of it ;)
hello everyone!
di
yhat was one of my first onrs too
hey Annie!
hi Annie
hi sprite, molly, praise
praise, havent seen you in a while
I did Sprite. But was disappointed that sh4head was not one of the "making more" words. : ) Morning Annie.
I am doing lousy on the biggies front so far. Not asking for clues, but are they very strange?
The biggest one is not strange at all.
I am being very organized today...starting at the top and working my way down..up to the middle row
yes Annie have been away a while
praise, welcome back
ty Annie
thanks, I will find them in time th4 :)
I have loaded up the PB with lots of baked goods, sandwiches, coffee and tea due to all the commonly used words in the grid.
ah wonderful! let me add the savoury bit. And then (!) we all pay one word to get in and we'll have a party. :D
hi all. have you all seen the viral video of the laughing baby
yes--it is so cute!
he is on tv now
w
q
hi TOwl, no I don't think I have.
q
Hi Owl :)
hi annie!
There is nothing like a laughing baby to brighten up your spirit.
my nephew in law was like that, deep belly laughs
I remember a friend of mine had a laughing, gurgling baby as a ringtone when a friend of us died. We spent so much time in the hospital and the baby sound incited smiles all the time, even though we were so sad.
that wasn't supposed to be a stopper. It was actually very beautiful. A happy sound that reminded of life :)
that is nice, sprite
i must go get reafy for doctor. happy babbling to all
all the best, TOwl *hug*
a doctor on saturday?
I could eat a load of snax today. But it seems babble doesn't want me to :(
good morning babblers :)
Hi Nono :)

Is it just me, or has sex been in the past four or five grids?
thanks, gray
Molly, it's just you. ( giggling )
it has been in a few times molly, but nothing wrong with that :)
Ah, but of course. I think it's a funny shout out from NB.
lots of sex and nothing of it valid, that is sad ;)
aw thanks for the baby vid, that is adorable!
hi folks (sprite, se 4/9)
yes, but that is not related to the fun thing!
yw sprite
hi welki
there's a new form of sending messages ... called se**ing. so a different (and new) definition *lol* ... want to get se**? try se**ting!
oh dear, lol! You know, when I just started on the internet, someone asked me if I wanted to cyber with him. I didn't know what it was, asked a friend, and the friend advised me to say: "Sure, at about 5 am tomorrow morning. If I am not there, start without me."
Could someone please use hi8 in a sentence. What kind of word is that?
I don't have it yet,sorry gramma
i don't have it either
I have it. I just don't believe it's real.
lol sprite
without skin
gramma, If I was nude, I would be hi8. best I could do
I felt so green, lol. Ah well, I was, back th4.
the hi8 carcass sat on the taxidermist's table, the hi4 awaiting stuffing.
oh dear .. i guess if you sold beef for butchering, you sell them hi8
Well done
good work, guys.
thanks, got it now. After skinning the animals, he laid out the hi8 corpses and started preparing them for dinner.
and thanks for your clue, annie :)
wow, I still don't know what it is
oh... got it now, thanks sprite
youre welcome, welki....do any fishing lately?
it is 'being without skin' , aslindy
yvw aslindy :)
whenever I see a double O, I think of oodles (what that his name) wonder what happened to him?
weather here has averaged -25 (with windchills to -40) for the last two weeks, so noooooooooooo, no fishing :)
was*
may have overstayed his welcome?
Good morning all
annie, i saw yesterday that you found shoes .. tell me what kind, please
welki, wow, that is weather!
morning MrBob
morning Mr Bob
annie, I was at Easy Spirit and found a loafer in my odd size, 9 1/2 WW
I had ordered the shoes on line and was returning them and the store had WW and they did not have it online. I have a terrible time finding shoes that do not hurt.
maybe that player changed his name .. can't find him in 'rankings'
me too, annie.
same here, Annie
morning, all!
hi uusue, morning
mornign sue
sometimes I think I am the only one that has such an awful time finding shoes. My friend told me about a place in the city. I will go in ne4 week or so.
hi sue
Annie, I have a terrible time with shoes also, although my problem is the opposite one - my feet are very long and narrow, and flat.
me, i'm falling apart .. even my feet. plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis and heel spurs
oh dear, welki, I have peripheral neuropathy
awful, welki :(
BUT ... i'm hoping that things will start improving soon. i've just been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea. turns out things just can't heal if you're not getting enough oxygen/deep sleep
welki, there is a store in New York that deals with "problem" feet. Eneslow is the name...perhaps you can buy shoes online
glad they found that out, welki!
'course it involves going to sleep looking like an android. next test in a few weeks and then machine shopping
i'll be in jersey in may, may be worth a trip, annie
welki, it might be worth the trip...they are on Park Avenue South and 32nd Street
and good luck with the tests, welki
hehe, when i went for my first follow-up (after the home test), the doc looked at me and said, 'i'm REALLY glad you came back' he said that severe OSA is when someone stops breathing over 30 times/hr. i stop an average of 54 times/hr and my O2 levels drop to 62 (average 86 when it should be over 90 - )
had a pulmonary function and blood gas test yesterday .. O2 sats are much better during the day, 93 average
downside is that nothing is covered by insurance, not even on my extended insurance
welki, now that you are taking charge of your breathing you will start to feel better...
(as she monopolizes the chat)
welki, crossy has sleep apnea..ask him about insurance coverage (that's a shame it should be covered)
welki, I wear a snuffleupagus machine at night. It took me a long time to get the right one; but, man is it worth the effort. It's great!
he's in a different province .. one that covers a portion of the testing/equipment
here in alberta, it's soooo dry .. i'd like one with a humidifer
machines come in 3 cost levels here 750 for cheap,1400 for mid level and 2200 for top of line.here govt covered 700 and i had to pay 1000,do not get the cheap machine (i stop breathing 40 to 60 times a night without)
he was lurking .. cheeky bugger
there he is!
alberta health doesn't cover anything
i don't care, though .. i need it, i'll manage and i'll get the best i can. i've been feeling crappy long enough
and if you see molly tell her i am sorry fit my comment the other day,had a bad real life day and was uncalled for
back again, seems I am having trouble with the connection. Hiya crossy!
howdy sprite;)
i was looking for you the last couple of days, crossy .. had so many questions
crossy, you are a true gentleman :-)
sorry you had a bad day, crossy .. things better now?
fighting the good fight;)
molly is probably in the PB putting away snacks for us all
gramma, what was difficult about finding the right one? the mask? the machine?
(((crossy))) we heart you
*hugs* crossy. Nothing like you, and Molly may be around still.
fitting is all important welki
(and i love that gramma calls it the snuffleupagus machine ... will save that for when grandkids are around!)
i have a full mmask,some prefer a nose mask
nbt :-)
((annie))
I have the nose one because they couldn't fit me properly with the full one
and the machine setting is critical, mine is set for an 8 on the pressure
i'm doing an in-lab overnighter in a few weeks .. he wants to compare the results of daytime function to the funky stuff that happens at night, says that my charts are so weird as to make him think that my machine needs something more than auto-fine tuning .. he called me "complicated" hahahaha, nothing new
and to be honest,my machine and i fight back and forth all night,it is not comfortable for me;(
i did lab 3 times
They all say that. I think it's to justify the expense.
Me too, crossy
i asked why he just doesn't send me home with an auto-setting until the next sleep study .. he said he wanted to make sure i don't have ANY bad experiences with a machine that may turn me off to using one .... so maybe crossy, you and your machine need to be re-acquainted
my risk of heart attack and stroke was too high to do without one
gramma, i thought that too (and to some degree, still do) -- but when he shows you the results, it's hard not to say YES YES YES to any recommendation he makes
mine is set correct now welki,it just takes training(on my part)
No I meant we're all complicated cases.
you always need to use the "ramp up" button,it gradually increases the pressure to the setting your dr chose
that's what i meant, too, gramma (we hear "complicated" and jump right on the CPAP bandwagon because we're afraid ... when it really might be a grab for money. i hate thinking like that, though)
phantom: lesion
correct breathing at night affects you in so many ways,it does not matter, pay him the extra visit
...so will give doc benefit of doubt and consider that, over the years, i have thrown away more money on less
^5 crossy
and a doctor would be at fault if he did not tell you what he thought, even if it means an extra visit. Benefit of the doubt is a good way to go, i think. It is your health. Nothing can be more important.
it also affects ..mmm...intimate performance, and that could not be allowed to continue
ah, the ultimate motivation :-)
quality of life, crossy, very important :)
indeed sprite
my risk of stroke was increased 52% without it...amazing!
so,welki,i know it is 1400 dollars but i recommend the mid level machine,it has a better water resivoir and humidifier than the cheap one
if i came up with the extra 800, would you recommend the most expensive one? why/why not?
the most expensive one, just gets smaller and more compact imho
half the size and portable
i travel a lot, so maybe it's a possibility
they will explain all the machines in detail to you
a big choice will me nose mask vs full mask
a full mask is an extra 200
i'm on the cancellation list, have an appt scheduled the 21st, but hope to get in earlier
but good if your nise stuff up a lot at night
i'm fairly certain we're talking mask mask mask with me ... i want the hannibal lechter model, my husband wants me to get the darth vader
lol,mine is the hannibal model
lol quite the images!
*gravelly voice* i am your faaaaaather, luuuuuke
you guys are too funny :-)
gotta laugh, uusue :)
i keep thinking back to my 70,s party days when using the thing as it would make an awsome bong or water pipe! lol,but now at this stage of my life, just working with fresh air is an adventure lol

do not wish for that jmc,it will be all babblets that start with y,q and x lol
Understood. I never finish grids.

now that you've all made me hungry...off to forage then off to get taxes done ... wish me luck!
If there were another day I wouldnt have waited.
not good when you need some tasty breakfast food Red
A good friend is one that ignores the imperfections :)
Good luck, Pini :-)
yes.
she is not a coffee drinker, but an am smoker, so of course that has been cared for but COFFEEEEE
I am not a good friend.
unless they need coffee and donuts :)
a good friend is also one who respects the breakfast timeline...

i dont get out of bed till 10am

thx, BR! I will have to look that one up!
Huh. Not the meaning I would have guessed.
hey there
ahh..there we go.squeaky clean;))
babrab.. a rare appearance.. is spring in the air? is there hope?
Hi, doren, and welcome back, crossy!
and hi sue! and crossy... you home now sue?
Hi Dorens
not yet, doren; they actually cancelled my flight today and put me on a later one (a couple of hours later). We will head to the airport in another hour or two.
Dad has the OK from the surgeon to drive, so I will drive us to the airport and he will drive home.
hi boo. hope that doesn't mess up your plans in any way. Meanwhile, I just adore your father!
tiptoes in and asks for a hint for the Y words
Hello, Dorens. Spring is in the air sort of ... so is spring flooding ... record high flood levels predicted .... sandbagging anyone?
yo _ monty pythons k**ghts who say **
flood warnings are issued here for the low areas,4-6 inches of rain in the next 24 hours;/
i actually went outside and did about five minutes of gardening.... then remembered that it is still early march, so i'm sure we'll have more snow. flooding near your home babrab?
TY dorens. ::back to semi-unconsciousness::
that was supposed to be yo+ k**ghts who say **, sorry evaN yo4 and yo5 plural
Yep. The Red River of the North
i'd come lend a hand if it were closer.. i live on top of a hill, the only flooding i get is when my sewer backs up. which it did on tuesday.. pretty sh**ty
Isn't he great, Doren? My stepmom is crazy to leave him (IMHO, of course).
oh she surely is... I would love to hang around him more
never watched holy grail,so i do not know if they say wee,nii or pee lol
BR, you're in North Dakota, or western Minnesota, or someplace like that?
Fargo
haha crossy, but you will figure it out. also, it is one of the most hilarious movies
not fargo, holy grail, but then again fargo was a pretty good movie, too!
watched the meaning of life, but never got to the others
Yes, we've been hearing about floods in your neck of the woods. *sends dry thoughts to BR*
Fargo, the movie, was a Minnesota flick.
hi folks
I hope the rest of me keeps as dry as my thoughts.
i know (my sister llived in minnesota... love the accent) but still it was the name! you just wrote fargo. i always think of the movie when i see the name, can't help it
sending warm dry thoughts your way babrab.
I hope so too, BR - Fargo has had more than its share over the last few years!
Hi, welki!
hi welki
hlo welki
will be interesting to see how this storm front moves through now calling for 50 mm plus of rain
clue for ni 5/10
t's done. I don't think I want to do the s's.
it was actually sunny and not cold here an hour ago.. very windy though. rain storm? i would like one tomorrow, not today
it is going to run right on top of all this snow and ice;((
well the rain we had last week helped to melt the snow piles.. i only have a bit left now
don't have that ni, either, boo; that was when I decided to move to the other end of the alphabet :-)
found one y,the 4/6
weatherbug says it's 63F here now, doren; it's 30F back home so I will have to prepare to adjust :-0
plural it for the other, crossy
just got the ni, persons of Japanese descent
ni + uno dos tres quatro cinco ***s
can't remember that one
geez, my parents are crazy.
how come, hurshy?
i don't know how they got that way :) but i assume you mean what makes me say that...
well, that is what I was wondering, yes, if you want to share... :-)
they both really need individual counseling as well as marriage counseling, and i was just talking to my dad to try to encourage him to get the help he needs, personally, and he said he told mom that he would go if she did and she said no, so he wouldn't.
and i said, but i don't mean marriage counseling, i just mean help with your depressive tendencies
Ah. So sort of like mine, except mine just totally split.
and he said yeah, that's what he meant. and said, i don't understand. i agree that she needs help also but why should that prevent you from getting help??
my parents went many moons ago and it was fine, until the therapist told my mom she had a couple of things to work on... then she was done
Hmmm. Good question.
hursh, sometimes people don't want to look at their own issues
and he said well even if he goes to individual therapy he can't get anywhere because they want to talk about mom and she won't let him.
we arnt all nice people who want to sort things out.. its just life...
unfortunately
i said what do you mean she won't LET you?? it's not like you're a toddler trying to touch a hot stove, you can't let her tell you that you can't talk about things in therapy that you need to talk about!!!
Well, if it's individual therapy she doesn't have to know what he's talking about - he doesn't have to lie about it but he doesn't necessarily have to share everything either
yeah but she preemptively says not to talk about her cause she doesn't want other people knowing their problems or something.
and i said well just don't listen when she says that!
yes,he does not have to write a report when he gets home
but that can make it tough, when I was married to my previous husband he raised such a stink about me going to therapy that it eventually was less stressful just not to go
pointless going then
and they both basically think that the other one is the one who really needs work, and that they personally are doing everything they can, but the other one isn't.
of course then it eventually dawned on me that it would be even less stressful still just not to be married to him, so I am not. And much happier for it. Although I would not recommend this as a universal solution!
that is fairly typical, you know
"oh, well, *I'D* be willing to do such-and-such, but S/HE is the obstacle"
it's so maddening.
you have no idea how often i hear it from parents of students.. it's tiresome, really
ah, yes. This is not an unusual state to be in; doesn't the therapist have any suggestions for how to make progress? (of course, if they're not interested, that makes it tough!)
wife and i thought that,in our 15th year we needed a few visits, some outside insight in the way things were going and how we can alter things for the better before things get out of hand.small changes at first but it is like pebbles rolling down hill, small things led to big changes
my last ex was married 3 times before.. i was with her 6 years.. she is about to marry again... it all seems a bit messed up to me :) life is a strange old game
i am increasingly staying at home and not dealing with people at all.. just babbling.. safer
i never married her btw.. and i think i did the right thing
there isn't a therapist, uusue, that's the problem!
i hear you Dorens.. but you never know what or who is around the next corner :)
sounds like, bodz!
BUT my dad did say he had talked to someone before and that guy was helpful and he was planning to talk to him again but they just hadn't got back going again since his almost-dying thing.
I see - so they can't even agree to get started! That IS frustrating, hurshy!
but they're al crazy, bodz and we'll never get along
so, i just encouraged him to be open to what that guy says an suggests, and not to be so unwilling to try medication if it is recommended and stuff like that. i mean i go to counseling and am working on trying to find meds that will help me, so i feel like i have some grounds to say this, experientially.
ok, well, almost dying does tend to distract one :-/
hurshy then it sounds like he will go back to this guy...
Life is like a bawx of chawclates!
i only eat the dark ones tho
i just wish i could see the card that says what they are before i choose one.. lol
learn to trust your instincts bodz
life changes.. things change.. and it is never that easy even so
<-- thinks life, sometimes, is like a box of dog poo, but even then it beats the alternative
yeah, so that made me feel better, dorens, cause my sister had made it sounds like he wasn't planning to do ANYthing.
lol, welki! There is an art to telling the difference, and I'm not always sure I've mastered it!
life is interesting, but another day on this side of the dirt is a good thing;)
ever have sewer back up welki? i think actually worse than dog poo, and it was real life, not a metaphor
takes a lifetime.. and tto late by then usually lol
so it sounds like he might be willing to go get help, that is good, hurshy
oh yes, i've had that happen .. always in summer, always during breezeless hot days
into each life a little rain will fall... just hope it is never a monsoon!
and the guy who had been his supervisor recently and stressed him out so much and kinda pissed everyone off, and probably contributed to my dad almost dying of this aortic dissection, well this week dad found out that guy will be gone as of may, so that is a big relief too.
usually you get total understanding and clarity as to the meaning of life in the last 10 minutes, but by that time no one will listen to you;)
Ha! Good to hear that, hurshy!
now how do you know that, crossy? :)
good day
well i know the answer already hurshy,i am just trying to figure out the question;)
hi, sciencegeek!
he has been told :) it doesnt mean anything even if you have been told.. till the last 10 mins :)
and on that note,it is off to work for crossy, take care all and happy babbling!....poof!
hi science
bye, crossy and thanks again for your help earlier
we are told a lot of true stuff through life.. but do we act on it? or know we should act on it!! that is the thing..
i need a hug!!
i'm depressing myself
And can we tell it apart from the stuff that is not true? That's the other thing :-)
well you know james taylor said... "the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time... any fool can do it, there ain't nothin' to it..." but i have found it more difficult than he says.
((bodz))
{{{{{{bodz}}}}}}}
thanks :)))
he also said he was a steamroller, a hunka hunka burnin' junk :)
and a napalm bomb, guaranteed to blow your mind
that song is SO funny coming from him, when you think about it.
you know, he should have done that with lucinda williams .. would have been killin
evening all - i am in the process of trying not to die - we walked 15 miles today and i am hardly able to move
yep, a cordoroy sexpot
wow, kazz! That must have taken all day!
LOL
joints all seized up huh Kaz?
no we did it in less than 6 hours
been there
bits ache that you never knew you had
calling for all cabana boys to get their masseur certs for kazz
back to babble.. or i'll never finish
more than joints bodz - probs with knee before i started but it was a great fun day - we will do it again and because of the diet thing we had a yummy pizza for tea
name that proper noun! cute green rideable turtle from super mario
good for you Kaz.. as long as you enjoyed it never the less :)
oooh yes weiki - cabana boys would be good - hubby can have a young lady walk all over him
koopa troopa!
7 left - can I finish before I have to go to the airport?
i love mario games :)
consequently i still have 94 words left to find
51 here
(answers to 'name that proper noun!' can always be found in the grid)
11 hours to finish it :)
I know, hurshy, but I am dim on mario, sorry!
i am going to bed early tomight
i was letting welki know since she said koopa troopa, which is not in the grid :)
you make seize up yet kaz.. when you awake.. ouch!
hope not though :)
Ah. See, I told you I was dim on Mario!
ohhhh, i get it
you know, i never thought that they were turtles!
well who knows WHAT they are, really? i just tried to identify what i thought they might be to give the clue.
i prefered donkey kong Jr
so... i guess we'll skip Yoshi and move on
name that proper noun! warrior princess
sounds good to me
xena?
xena!
ding ding ding!
noble gas!
yay i get a point :)
xenon
yay 2 points ;p
lol, sciencegeek, that's a word, not a proper noun!
PB for bodz!!
i mean not that proper nouns aren't words. but it's a word that COUNTS in the grid and thus not eligible for NTPN.
PB?
PB = penalty box (where you go for saying a word)
noo if that means perm ban!!
ohh lol
sorry.. he did ask
but, you were tricked.
i was i was.. good call :)
There are usually goodies in the Penalty Box. I'm contributing some Dove chocolates.
ommm nom nom nom.. i'm there ;p
are there any EX words?
nope
can anyone tell i've had a couple of beers and am very chatty? ;p
hello first timer!
i need to finish this grid though *sigh*
i went straight through the top row, the S and the X, and now that top E is gettin' in my way
OK, here is what I am missing; I am now happy to accept any hints as well as related embarrassment: on6/21, os6/18, sh5/12, sh4/5, so7/28
HI, caty!
For the sh words, it's the first ones in the list.
on 6/21 not OFFside
so 7/28 plural of guy in duo, so**y and cher
there are lotsa sh5/12 and 4/5! i don't have the lower two s's done so i can't even guess what you're missing yet
pb is lovely bodz - specially if someone has left some krispy kreme duffnuts
can i stay in the PB ? ;p
argh! i forgot that enable doesn't know about onesies!
these are between the butter and the thing you wish the horse hadn't done
os6 = os + river in france minus last vowel
i'm trying to get a sixpack though.. i dont think it would help :)
thx, welki, for both!
and bodz for the on!
oh, i have those
the 4 is plural females
sh 4/5 is probably pl females
and the five rhymes with what you pay to a landlord
thks for my last o word welki
^5 hursh!
any others needed uus?
ions
ooops
FIREWORKS!!!! Thank you so much, everyone!
congrats!!!

I can stay and clue for a little while, then I am off to the airport and home!!!
the 9 is wo9/84, a quality that trees have'
top E, i need serious help. i have EO4 and EO5 and need the other three.
wo 9/84, kazz .. i just love the wo9 of .... well, let's get my dirty mind out of the gutter
wo 9 is timber +i + n word ending with ss
doh shud have seen that
only 2 eo words, hurshy
why get out of the gutter?
ohh ... i see now. slow on the uptake
well i mean i need the other three top E's, whatever they are :)
its good down there at times :)
en + tiny piece of land in water + pt
en + arterial st*****
hi8?
oh i always miss that en6, thanks!!
without a hide hi8
hi8 = a carcass without its skin
hi8 = how an animal is after you skin it
thx for the hi8
bodz, not to be a noodge, but, it's best if you can avoid using part of the word in the clue. ok i am a noodge but i can't help it.
ok no problem.. sorry to have done that.. :)
thanks for all the es
i can see the error of my ways.. well pointed out :)
thanks for not getting mad at me! :)
no no.. you were totally right on that one.. i gave too much away
can we stop being so nice lol
;p
ha
i know what you mean but i would rather be overly nice than deal with some of the nasty situations i have gotten into here in the past!
some people are just naturally inclined to take everything in the worst possible interpretation.
so... how's that sixpack going?
i never do.. i'm always inclined to apology rather than .. what the hell!!.. just the way i am.. well.. most of the time :)
does the beer make you even more mellow, or the same?
i lost half a stone in the last 2 months.. its nearly there.. just need to execise a bit
good work, bodz!
OH THAT sixpack!
lol
mellow mostly.. unless someone wants to argue about something
i'm managing both sixpacks pretty well ;p
4 beers left
so which sixpack were you mentioning earlier? the beer one or the ab one?
and doesn't drinking the beer one make it harder to achieve the ab one?
i'm at that stage in life where .. umm no other half.. not overweight.. need to exercise.. would like to add to my frame.. and well.. dunno... see what life throws at me
i might start on the 6 pack - its a saturday night and i need a drink - prefarably in the bath with a cabana boy massaging my shoulders
you are probably right 9you are right) but i do like a beer or two now and then :)
or six :)
Noswaith dda - evening all
i'm sure if i got back into doing weights i can manage both.. i dunno :)
dont we all bodz - one or two never hurts - its the remaining 10 or 19 that creep up and bash you over the head
hi, Glantarell!
is "noswaith dda" welsh for "evening all"?
yeah or six.. my bad? ;p
yes it is hurshy
how does one pronounce this?
well, technically it is 'good evening' if i added 'pawb' afterwards it would be good evening all
noswaith is as it sounds and dda is like thaa
evening glan - are you well
i am fine kazzer - ty
welsh is so cool
hwyr pawb
it has its moments LOL
i am trying to learn it at the moment
i particularly like the word for carrot - moron
so a translation website said
hmm, i guess you have to really watch your context for that one
hwyl bodz
i like the word for sheep - dafad thats right isnt glan
dafad for one sheep defaid for more than one
to hwyl.. translation site said...
get oneself ready, sail, a sail, humor, a humor, humour, a humour, religious fervor, a religious fervor, religious fervour, a religious fervour, ecstasy
weird or what?
ooh thxs for that wondered what the plural was
Hello my friends!
did you ever go to someone's house for brunch and eat stuff and then later that afternoon at home really wish you had the leftovers?
is that the jamaican flag?
hi, Mark!
Yes, it is.
hi mark. yes i do hursh - quite often
Not anymore!
lol
i'm SO in the mood for more biscuits! :)
i think of hwyl as 'fun'
ohh bisquits :)
american biscuits, i mean. not cookies.
Biscuits!!!!!!!!!!!!!
need to finish grid...
oh i tried those american buscuits - we have nothing like them in the UK - they are like a savcoury scone but lighter - maybe made with baking soda?
yep that's it giantarell. they vary a lot really but you have the general idea - sugarless sconish
biscuits with honey and butter! yum! (no gravy cuz i'm no southerner)
kazzer - here's the link to that online dictionary - i use ot a lot
http://www.geiriadur.net/
I am mostly a vegetarian.
there are drop biscuits and rolled biscuits, and everyone's favourite, buttermilk biscuits, cracker barrel's buttermilk biscuits in particular... pillsbury ready-to-bake biscuits if you're desperate...
me too mark!
yea....half way. hi all.
*Vegetarian hi-fives hurshy*
which reasons do you go veg?
hi cathy - i just hit half way too
cheese biscuits
I was just bred that way.
i made a whole batch
oh cheese biscuits!!
ooh, red lobster cheddar bay biscuits are my UTTER DOWNFALL
ive got 63 left but am running out of steam
Powermilk biscuits, from Prairie Home Companion
love this biscuit conversation...and i love mine with the gravy.
i asked them in red lobster how they make their biscuits... they said it's bisquick. lol
for me it's mostly been learning about factory farm conditions, combined with my high cholesterol. but knowing me, i'm more likely to do it for the animals than for my health, lol
i've only tried them with gravy - bvery odd experience for a brit LOL
biscuits, gravy and snogs
no7?
you can get the red lobster recipe online and yes it uses bisquick
bisquick with a whole lotta cheese and fat i should think, cathy!
snogs?
snogs are sausages
no7 - most loud
i know what that means in the UK - what does it mean in the US?
i'd think so too, hurshy! love the cracker barrel ones... alongside the corn muffins. yum.
i'd rather have UK snogs, lol
ah, here it is slang for kissing - he snogged her
they are snogging
see i don't do the cornbread thing. never have. don't know why.
In the US, snog means something totally different! LOL. I learned snogs from my Aussie friend. She waqs putting snogs on the barbie and I had no idea what a snog was
cornbread is the bomb!
got the no7, but it's not most loud, it's most snoopy
isnt snog a very english word?
we don't have cornbread either
oops, looked to quickly, sorry shirlock!
i would make chili with a cornbread mix on the top.. stud it with a few lumps of cheese and bake it. it was good.
yummy cathy!
biscuits in the US sound bad if you are on a diet
do you have dumplings in the US?
why do we always talk about food on the chog?! LOL
we have dumplings in the US, usually with chicken.
they can be, kazzer, but if you do some light drop biscuits made with veg oil (esp smart balance or something), they can be fine.
what is an English dumpling?
dumplings.... moan, groan, want dumplings....
the english dumplings are lighter than the chicken and dumplings in the us
i lovvvvve dumplings
it is made from flour and suet (vegetarian or animal) and water and sometimes we add herbs
dumplings in gravy mmmmmmmm
dumplings are a mixture of flour, minced suet, salt and water - you mix it all together and cook it in stew
chinese dumplings!
but even in the US dumplings vary a lot. in my house it was basically a biscuit dropped into stew so you didn't have a crusty exterior, but cracker barrel dumplings aren't like that at all.
Hi cos!
we usually cook our dumplings as part of a stew or casserole
hi everyone :)
I don't usually eat dumplings.
yes for the Chinese dumplings! They are the best
dumplings covered with butter and gravy is a christmas dish for us :)
love them
i was VERY disappointed when i was eating at the house of a chinese friend who said we would have dumplings and they turned out to be what they were! i'm not so good with new things.
so what are US dumplings made from?
esp. my mom's dumplings! chinese chives and pork!
1/2 for me!
chinese dumplings can be like a form of dim sum - wrappers with tasty stuffings
can't anything be a form of dim sum? i thought dim sum was just... a meal made up of miscellaneous chinese foods. like tapas.
anybody clue me for the ne4/7?it's my last n at the toop...
(so by anything i meant anything chinese)
top even

dorens knows how to focus on the key component of the game :)
nevermind if hurshy is completely inaccurate, as long as you can figure out what she was thinking.
very goal oriented.. just opened up the computer... saw hurshy's question and looked at grid, didn't pay attention to anything else
monkeyed it.
thanks for trying to help :)
both focus on a goal and questioning the given are very valuable skills. :)

Hi soodle!
Hiya Mark :-)
So, which movies are you folks looking forward to this year?
harry potter!
I'm not sure;Harry Potter, definitely!
Oooh... the delectable Mr Firth in Kings Speech....
The Adjustment Bureau
i watched the last excorcism last night.. it was... weird
Kings speech for me too
Me, I'm looking forward to Captain America, Thor, The Green Lantern, Transformers 3
Pirates of the Carabbean 4
what's the green lantern about?
It's a comic book movie Glan
ah
i still cant get over seth rogen as the green lantern
That was the Green Hornet cos

Scream 4 is coming soon as well
im looking forward to the dark knight returns.. with joey gordon levitt and this one lady if orget as riddler and catwoman
i think anne hathaway as catwoman.. lemme check
yeah its anne hathaway
dark knight rises.. not dark knight returns..
Tom Hardy will be portraying Bane
yeah! it should be good
It's not due to be released til next year tho
i m sure it wont be as good as heath ledger's joker but.. i love selina kyle,, idk how she can top michelle pfieffer but then again they said the same aout ledger and nicholson
i know :(
There's gonna be a third Men in Black film released next year as well
Just idle curiosity, MM, but what do you rate as your very favourite film of all time?
Ooh, that's a difficult question soodle
But it would have to be a toss up between Sin City and Pulp Fiction
Although I do have a soft spot for Cronenberg's remake of The Fly
i think its a tie between godfather and return of the king
And Carpenter's The Thing
Right! (Neither of them my type of film - More of a Mama Mia woman, me... LOL)
oh favorite.. i thought you were saying best.. ok favorites... too hard to pick.. so i have one for each genre
I don't think I have ever seen the pages of a comic book so lovingly transferred to the screen as in Sin City
i wonder if bane will cause batman to be paraplegic likehe did int he comics
Did someone mention ABBA? My ears are bleeding. A third Men In Black movie? YAY!
As for favourite directors, I very much like Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino and Danny Boyle
And it'll b e in 3D Molly
burton - ftw
columbus, ronny howard and speilberg are good too
I'm no big fan of 3D, but I like the Men In Black flicks.
Slumdog Millionaire was VERY good
Molly! Wash your ears out with soap. I LOVE Mama Mia. I want to live in Mama Mia land, where the sun always shines, people burst into song at at the drop of a hat, and Colin Firth AND Pierce Brosnan are on tap..... Whats not to love?
blech! musicals
i hate musicals usually
i did like mary poppins though :) my fave live action disney film
bedknobs and broomsticks is a close 2nd
Musicals are fine. Colin Firth is fine. Pierce Brosnan is extra fine. ABBA music bites.
are you trying to regain your youth Cos?
I have never understood the appeal of Tarantino movies or why people drool over "Pulp Fiction".
hello again
I don't usually go for musicals either, although Sweeney Todd with Depp and Bonham-Carter was quite enjoyable
Ah! now your talking my language, Cos. Mary Poppins is in my top 10 faves - specially the animated bit with the penguins....
dusk til dawn was good molly
i liked uncle albert's scene best.. the bird lady made me cry when i was a kid
hi Annie!
hi lynxxx
Cos, we are kindred souls. I always cried when Mary sang "Tuppence A Bag".
My non-musical faves are Scent of a Woman, and As Good as it Gets... I would watch either of them over and over
An American Werewolf in LOndon is excellent!!!!!
Dial M for Murder is one of my faves
In fact, I'm wearing the t-shirt right now!!!!!
Hoo-ah! The Scent Of A Woman is a fine film.
Hi Annie :-)
chick flicks i like---- stepmom, family stone, steel magnolias, beaches, for the boys
family stone makes me cry every single time
Hi soodle!
WAHHHHHHHH!!- my brain has stopped functionint.. i can t find a single en word.......

Annie, Dial M For Murder was in a set of four movie classics I gave my son for Christmas.
Congrats Kazz!
Does anyone except me like horror movies?
yay for kazzer!
i love horror
i have my dvr set to chiller movies every night
and I love any Woody Allen film
Hoo-ah! Om nom nom... Pacino....

Pretty much anything Stephen King, movie man.

Good news about your Dad Sue.
Hic. And isn't it cool that you can while away the 3 hour wait with friends?
indeed, mom.
It is indeed, soodle!
"smom hands sue a well deserved choklit bar to celebrate
I was originally on an earlier flight but it was cancelled; we didn't move back our drive-to-the-airport time much, though, as dad didn't want to drive home in the dark.
Yum, choklit! thx!!!

STOPPIT RIGHT NOW Sammysmom. I am on a diet, and my choclit craving has just gone into overdrive. (Whine whinge moan, repouting)
MY choklit.
mumble grumble mutter.. I swear... I gain weight just reading the chat on Babble...mumble grumble
Newark airport has these big posts full of outlets, so we can all plug in - I am not running on battery power, so you will all probably be stuck with me until my plane leaves :-)
and well worth the pounds soodle
But I did finish earlier, so can clue.
Or not, if somebody steals my choklit.
ok, how about a little clue for de 8 45 please?
Saintly smile ... Your choclit is safe from me, Sue! I don't touch the stuff....
de + gluttony is a mortal *** + Tolkein tree creature
thank you
Lying is a venial sin Soodle.
do 8 65
long weird word meaning the end of a word.
And Denial is a river that flows through Egypt, Moll!!!
the utmost of the d04/9 that precedes it, sunny
do 8/65...the most filled with eider
hi, molly!
It's my favorite river Soodle. Did you say you were on a diet? Whatever for? If anything, you're looking way too thin these days.
i've heard of up**** and down**** and mid**** and even bean****, but never in****.
I love Molly. I love Molly. I love Molly. I love Molly. (She clearly needs new specs, but...) I love Molly
gee, hurshy, I live right in****.
but wouldn't you have thought that was two words???
oh my goodness... my two kitties who hate each other are sitting only inches apart, beside me
After months of babbling it is clear to me that I do not think like the Babble dictionary. :-)
in 6/30??
yay for progress in cat truces!
sammysmom... see my below convo with uusue2
that was the word we were talking about, 'smom
got it
How long will it take you to get home to your own abode, Sue?
I doubt there will be a truce.. they are both too old for that now
in 5/16??
well, let
oops
3 hours til plane takes off, 2 hour flight, hour drive home, about 6 hours.
pl of 4/7
plural of in4/7
I hope it goes quickly for you Sue... hanging around in airports can be soul-destroying.
That's where my babble buddies come in :-)
why do people think statistics and facts do not apply to themselves?
erm, now what, hurshy?
i keep telling my sister how they proved on mythbusters that driving while talking on a cell phone is as dangerous as driving drunk, but she continues to talk on her phone while driving.
true, hurshy, and it doesn't matter much if you have the hands-free option - it's the distraction that does you in
i know, i told her that!
and what about those that text while driving? they are nuts
Oh,(((Hurshy))) your family is giving you a lot of grief today.
she said, "how is that different from having a passenger and talking, then?" well, i don't know if it IS, but i would theorize that if the person is WITH you, then if you fail to see something coming, perhaps your passenger notices it and alerts you, so it may somewhat mitigate the distraction to have two of you there watching for things.
exactly, hurshy - the passenger can adjust their interaction with you to external conditions (they will tend to shut up in heavy traffic or whatever)
well, sometimes my family gives me grief, but perhaps i give them grief also!
{{{{{{{hurshy}}}}}}} - sounds like you could use a vacation from your family!
no, i love my sister, i just worry about her.
i love both of my sisters, they are great.
i love my parents too but they can be more exasperating.
I know, hurshy, that's why I suggested a vacation rather than a divorce :-)
'Tis the way of the world, Hurshy, 'tis the way of the world!
well the thing is we were talking on skype and she said she would call me from the car because she had to go, and i said not to, and the thing is, she probably will just call someone else!
she gets bored/lonely while driving.
I truly don't get people who use their phone in any way while driving. That's what books on tape are for Hursh.
And believe me, I know what it is to worry - one of the reasons the care of my dad has fallen exclusively on me is that my younger brother and sister are both gone (brother fell off a cliff at age 27, sister died of breast cancer at age 41).
oh my, uusue. that's awful.
So I always tell people to treasure their family (if at all possible); at least you have them around to irritate you!
Oh my God Sue, I'm so sorry to hear that.
It was all a long time ago...
Sue, I suggested that to my huxband (a vacation rather than a divorce). back in 2007. He took me up on the offer, vamoosed to Thailand (!!) and I haven't seen him since
yes - when i was talking to my dad today about getting help for depression i was saying how i was so glad and thankful that he didn't die in december and that i don't just want him to be around, i want him to be glad to be around too.
Thailand, eh? Good grief.
Very well put, hurshy! He should listen to you.
I hope that helped him, hurshy
my goodness, my stories always seem so tame compared to the rest of yours!
hey hurshy
hey hurshy
I struggle with depression, too
me too aslindy - so i can relate to him and i hope that means he is more likely to listen to what i have to say about it.
(((((Aslindy))) ((((Hurshy))) and all depression sufferers... It is a hideous cross to bear.
thank you, soodle
tiss
oops
lol its not even a word
thanks soodle
Yup, Sue. Apparently he has being doing 'the grand tour' of South East Asia for the past 4 years. (The man is 55, for heavens sake). Now, THATS what I call a mid-life crisis!!
hey soodle
Hello Garde :-)
So is he planning to return, or have you given up on him?
it's been a while
Or both (which would be my tendency)?
Ahem... 4 years in SE Asia???? I wouldn't spit on the fecker if he was on fire!!
lol soodle
I love Soodle. I love Soodle. I love Soodle.
I'm sorry... you know I meant funny what you said, not funny that he left (I hope)
Mutual love fest between Moll & Soodle (avert your eyes)
hey molly
Aslindy... I know exactly what you mean :-)
Good for you, soodle!
ok, good. =)
((((Aslindy))))
I have to wonder about people who just up and run away from their lives. I read a story on the internet yesterday about a Mom who just decided she didn't want to be a full time Mom anymore and turned over custody to their Dad. WHAT?
ugh parents
too bad she didn't figure that out before actually having kids :-(
well said
I have always loved my kids... but I'm glad they are grown now
I mean, nobody really knows what they're in for when they have kids. But to just say "I don't wanna play anymore"??????
My son's dad was kind of like that (didn't come out and say he wasn't interested - in fact he insisted he was - but was totally irresponsible and certainly acted like he had other priorities)
OK, didn't mean to shut down the chog. How about a funny cat video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JyOHpl zUNo&feature=player_embedded
That was what was so unbelievable about my departed hubby.. He was actually quite a good dad (when it suited him). I can understand that marriages fail, businesses fail, but for a dad to run away from his own kids... well, thats something else...
oh, soodle, so you have kids too? What a bum!
Tiny url for cat video: http://tinyurl.com/47llkkn
can I have a tiny clue for le 7 32 please?
Ah, no bum there, Sue! I happen to have been blessed with the three best kids on the planet!
no, I mean him, for leaving.
never mind
gee, and i was just coming up with a wonderful clue (not) :-)
yeah, no idea how it would get clued
Paul is now 20, Sarah is 19 and Suzie is 16. So, they were at particularly difficult ages when 'yer man' took off. But, they are well rounded, well educated people in their own right now. I am hugely proud of them.
excellent, soodle
OMG, soodle, it must have been awful for you when he left! And congratulations on three wonderful kids!
Of course I worry about the kids, and affect of a 'vamoosed dad', but I think they have weathered the difficulties, and are getting on with their lives. Heck... Onwards and upwards, eh?
Indeed, soodle. The main thing is that they realize they are in no way at fault (kids tend to think that they are responsible for everything that happens when of course they are not). Sounds like they are doing well, and you too. Kudos to all!
Thanks Sue. Enough of me monopolising the chat.....Anybody got any good jokes?
of course, you say that, and my mind goes completely blank
Well, there's always the camel joke in my profile :-)
:-)... I saw the camel joke! Loved it!!
And I am happy to continue (not) cluing...
excellent camel joke!
lindy, just looking at your profile - you have a black lab mix? I have a black labradoodle.
yes, I do. =)
ok, I need to make some supper, and we have a lot of potatoes... suggestions?
They're great dogs, aren't they? We rescued ours about a year and a half ago from the local shelter.
yes, he's a good dog... he's almost 8 - and from a shelter as a pup
Baked potatoes with cheese and stuff?
Baked potoatoes with chilli.... I had them this evening and they were Yummy and pretty fat free..
both ideas sound yummy, thanks
You can do oven fries - cut them up into french-fry shapes, sprinkle with seasonings, and bake - also fat free
Hi all. Baked potatoes are lovely this time of year. I also like potato salad with dill weed and mayonnaise.
Hi, gmere!
Hello Gmere :-)
Hi uu, asl, and soodle.
hi, how are you?
This completes the first full week of having a new puppy as a member of the family. He is a labrador and is named Murphy. That is also a family name of my great grandmother.
when raven was a pup, he chewed on everything
especially paper
Aha! You can take the girl out of Ireland, but you can never take Ireland out of the girl. Go Murph, go!!!
he would pull anything paperish out of the trash
I had to get lids for the bathroom trash cans >.<
We dog proofed the house, we thought. To keep him off the furniture we put magazines down on the seats. It worked and today I've been able to remove the visual reminders and he is okay with favorite places to sit on the floor.
Oh, Lindy.. been there, done that!
great, gmere!
G'mere... I wish you many a long year of happiness with Murph.
lindy and i were just talking about our lab mix dogs :-)
ty soodle. We had a golden/lab mix when the kids were little and she was the most wonderful dog imaginable. We always compare dogs against our Brandy.
no idea what raven is mixed with... but he has black spots on his tongue and a curled tail, and is only about 65 lbs
Is that the new pup in the photo, gmere?
Yes, that was Murphy about a week ago.
He's a real cutie!
ty. I notice a good training word in the grid. he** and plural.
Oh my! A charmer, if ever I saw one....
Well, wouldja look at that... fireworks.....
well done, soodle
yay, soodle!
Congrats soodle!! Nice to complete a grid, isn't it.
!!!!!!!!!!! Soodle !!!!!!!!!!
Gran Mere, that puppy is adorable.
ty molly. He's asleep as we chat and that makes him doubly cute.
The fireworks just crept up on me. Hey gals... my email is in my profile. Feel free to make contact.
I might just do that, soodle :-)
yay fireworks!
yay, lindy!
Congrats aslindy!! Fireworks are nice on a gray day such as we find ourselves in here in the Northwest.
well, I better go get cooking some supper.... see you all another day!
bye, aslindy!
hi all, help pls with eht en words

hi all, coming in to start
hi, feather!
Hi featherbee!
I joined OMGPOP by the way.
hi neil!
hi uusue, une, peri, etc!
what's that, neil?
A game site.
it's the site that letterblox is on, one of my other addicitons
Yes, I discovered how badly I suck at that.
Ah. I think I have enough addictions for the moment :-)
I tried it very late at night though. Was overtired.
lol
you have to be fresh for it
Fresh as a daisy?
lol, yup. and you have to stop playing every now and then to remember how to blink.
any cluers in here? neil's on his second grid, i think, and getting down to the last few!
Blinking's usually automatic. Maybe that was my problem? I didn't stop blinking.
lol, perhaps
few? Oh sure, if you call 50 "few"?
I can clue for about another 20 minutes, feather (then my plane will start boarding...)
oh, i played your dad in lexulous last night!
heck yeah!
You're at an airport, Sue?
Newark (NJ), on my way back home to Illinois
i'm liking this one so far
whose dad, featherbee? Mine?
yup, yours. he said to tell you guys i whooped him, lol
I see, Sue. Love the joke by the way!
certainly wasn't mine unless he has a secret life I don't know about!
oh you did? Good. Someone has to, haha!
I usually whip him too. He doesn't like that much.
(((hugs all!))) I am supposed to be working on my presentation... *sigh* and completely stalled on what I want on the visuals. Could "talk" for ages, have a decent outline...
hi stid!
what's the presentation?
hi, stid!
Whoop, sorry feather!
I have to give a presentation about my master's paper. *yuck face*
sorry for what?
You said whoop, I said whip.
lol, that's ok!
NBT already!
yayyyyyyy stid!
yep. down to a slender 176 now!
nick's doing that little kid snuffle, after having a fit over not getting the right ice cream bowl
194 here, wanna race, lol!
oh oh... *comes at nick with paper towel*
go feather go!
I don't think I can race today... really wish I could.
i can't either really, only have 10 more minutes before bedtimes
race?
pretty early bedtime, yes?
we race each other to see who finishes first. usually stid tries dirty tricks like untying my shoelaces....
feather and I have a tradition. we race, I lose, she rejoices.
lol stid!
we start at 7, usually asleep 7:30 or 7:45, 8 at the latest
*indignant look* I do NOT untie your laces! I very carefully *hands show how* tie them together in neat little bows.
lol, suuuuuuure you do
*innocent mama look*
:-D
see sue? how much fun we of simple minds can have?
me likey the H words
Flight crew is arriving - this looks promising :-)
safe travels uusue!
are you on your way home sue? is your father well?
feather is very competitive, is she?
yes, and yes, stid
me???? competitive????? never! *innocent look*
sue, safe flights and pleasant landings!
Safe flight home, Sue.
so glad to hear he is mending well. *gentle thoughts for sue's dad*
I'll ask my dad about that, feather. Haha!
I came early to the airport so he could drive home while it was still light, which he did with no problem.
glad to hear that sue
Small update in my profile.
thanks sue, will read it. Don't miss your boarding!! *worried look*
hey stid, you're in the grid!
He is doing more walking with his stick (and less with the walker) and even some without support. The ortho thinks he should make a full recovery.
howdy
don't worry, stid, I am paying VERY close attention!! :-)
hi jes
hi, jes!
hey jes!
How's everyone?
and i got upgraded to first class, so I will be among the first to board :-)
I finished that dwagawful paper, jes! now working on the presentation.
woo-hoo! (I have never been in first class, but I hear it's nice)
yay for progress, stid!
I'm in the grid too, except the letters of my name are in the wrong order.
ah, so you are!
It is nice - more space and better food, mostly. Also because I have so many miles, I don't have to pay extra to check my bag :-)
*looks for self in grid* *doesn't like how hair looks in grid and rearranges*
I still get the full pat-down, though, thanks to titanium knees.
hey, someone moved all the letters in the grid! stop that!
you look very cute in the grid, stid, and your hair looks fine.
LOL feather!
1 left
*primps* thanks sue!
yay, bodz!
It's fine, stidmama. "Mess" is not in the grid.
go bodz go!
(tearjerker alert) - my dad was going through his workshop this afternoon and found some photos of my mom taken around the time they got married (1946). "The most beautiful girl in the world", he told me. He plans to hang the photos now that his wife has left (they married 35 years ago, two years after my mom died).
I am so pleased about that, sue -- he is recovering him life, it sounds like.
yes, he said that he is entering a new phase of his life now, and is looking forward to it. He wants to start traveling again, and is talking about driving out to visit me (!)
oops. HIS life.

*sigh*

no, I am very happy for the company, I've just been sitting at the airport for 3.5 hours now and am ready to leave :-)
oops!
anyway, need any clues? :-)
If I didn't have contact with friends while sitting in an airport, I don't know if I could handle poeple watching for that long...
I still need 42 more ;)
well, I have my e-book with me, but Babble is more fun :-)
* smile *
hi sue, could I please have a clue for de 8/45?
I do e-books on my computer with Kindle-PC
Mr. Arnez + hump + end of camp shelter
de + gluttony is a mortal *** + Tolkein tree creature
hi all, and TY for the super clue, UU Sue!

wow, same word, totally different clues...
hi, gwen!
hi gwen; yvw luv
i am wearing a uu t-shirt 8-)
hey all -- sorry I disappeared.

* wonders what a uu t-shirt looks like *
thinking a flaming chalice....
I used to have one that said "Give me the company of those that seek the truth, but preserve me from those who have found it"!
I also have one with a list of famous UU's
rofl sue! too cool
yes, flaming chalice, and it says the name of a church, too
Hi Pinikula. I joined OMGPOP.
very nice gwen.
ooh, yes, i have that one, too, of course!
hey neil...
I've got on you may like, uusue: "I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that."
congrats...I should play a few rounds...btw: haven't seen you in a bit...
i wrote the book on famous UUs, literally: http://www.gwenfoss.com/bookdetails.as p?book=444

Haven't seen me in a bit? Where?

pini, I like your P btw... it has PINK flowers!
I post almost daily, if you check on Buzz?
(other than buzzes, neil)
Probably because you never check that.
thx stid ;)
Where else should you see me?
I have another quote that I used to have on my desk: "There is no problem, no matter how complicated, which, if looked at in the right way, does not become even more complicated."
I do what I can, stid! :)
You are never on msn either, so?
pththththth
LOL goone one

As you like?
oh my! reached 80! going to head back to my actual task *yuck face* actually, this is the FUN part of the whole paper, I like putting together visual presentations!
wasn't the X word in yesterday's grid, too? (or maybe the day before yesterday)
I'm trying to. The 50 left are hiding from me!
LOL see you-all soon, and sue I hope you get home before too much longer. (((hugs and choclits for all))) *poof*

oh, uu--i have a button that says "This button says something else when you're not looking."
I have a t-shirt that says "Underneath my clothes, I'm completely naked."
;)
Okay, maybe just replace the buttons on your blouse with purple ones?
cute, jes :-)
"I've suffered enough -- when does my art improve?"
ok, AA has officially delayed our departure by 15 minutes (which is not too bad)
OK, that's it, I've been dancing around the wo9 for awhile...have the front end, looking for the end

I feel like I've spent that much on it!! Couldn't even get it last night at flip when clued! *sigh*
It's been haunting me!

speaking of flash mobs, here's one the Aussie babblers enjoyed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGoNbrO Dq8U
at the rate I'm finding words (3 in the last 1/2 hour), it may take the rest of the night to finish :(
I am still wondering what UU is?
a pair of droopy boobs?
Unitarian Universalist, neil and jilli
Unitarian Universalist, a liberal religion
I was, too, neil....and thinking on the same lines as jilli :)
thank you, uu!
Uhhh, okay? I'm not sure if I am one or not.
I'll have to look that one up
(can't load the vid, jilli...will have to try later...)
If it's a religon then no.
that's because we're cousins, eh pini?
and I do NOT have droopy boobs.
and some of us may also have droopy boobs, lol
Same lines? What was jilli thinking, Pinikula?
(official website: uua.org)
droopy boobs
just looked it up, gwen...going to mark it so I can check it out
Oh, ok. That must be the shortest domain name.
so you just have to bend over farther to get to them?
lovely song, thanks for sharing, jilli
lol, ruru!
there are just over 1,000 congregations in US and Canada. so we are reasonably big but smaller than most
could I please have a clue for the di 7/32?
I'm a UU too, sue
OK, according to the board the plane is supposed to be leaving in 6 minutes. I suspect we will have another update soon.
hey hey, DC, wlecome to the club!
di 7/32 is to disagree, perhaps in a political context, Luv
That's one of the 1st words I saw.
Charlie Sheen is starting a new club in Hollywood.. the MEME club
thanks sue
cuz in hollywood .. it's all about me
good one, ruru
glad yoou enjoyed, dc
great vid, jilli :)
and I'm glad you could open it -- some can't and I don't know why
Ugh. Do not get me started on him. I tweeted about him the other day. Actually it was a re-tweet. I was too lazy to post my own.
brb ... Koda's needing a moment (it worked on the 2nd try, jilli...)
oh good, pini -- you could open it
it's content might be limited by country, some videos are
<not a fan of twitter
ignoring the entire charlie sheen story, ignorance in bliss (smug grin) LOL
well, one who couldn't open it lives in NY state
I'm not much either, dc. Crazies on there!
he's a very sick person.. he's definitely bi-polar
weird indeed, jilli
I think maybe she is just not cyber-literate
At least!
hi jilli!
well, the plane has landed, so that's progress....
hello scary ru ;-)
always good that, uusue
hooray, sue!
When the passengers start to get off I am going to pack up my laptop.
so, you are talking to us via airplane wi-fi?
I have a wireless modem on my computer (haven't gotten on the plane yet)
why the delay, uu?
dunno, the incoming flight was late getting in, Chicago weather maybe?
hmmm -- haven't seen a weather report lately.
ah . . .
wireless moden on laptop -- sounds interesting...
passengers getting off, new departure time in 1/2 hour
*modem
it's snowing in Chicago, not much but snowing nonetheless
it's been wonderful, jilli, it's allowed me to keep working while away for these past two weeks. My department is paying for it.
oh my goodness, uu -- so you've been waiting there for over 3 hours and there's another 1/2 hour? Good thing you have that laptop modem
thought so, nelia.
hello nelia
Indeed, jilli!
hello jilli and everyone else
ok, i am packing the power cord, will stay online for a few more minutes...
lucky uu to have a department to pay for the modem!
what do you do, sue, if i may ask?
how long will the flight be, uu?
professor of physics, and assistant department chair
back
oooh, i want you for my book! (talk to you later and have a boring flight!)
about 2 hours, I think, jilli
gwen, I have details and links on my profile - send me an email!
an6?
okay, TY
I see we have first and second generation Japanese immigrants here
* safe flight, UU *
university has a deal with Verizon (with whom I would not otherwise deal) - modem is $50/month for unlimited data. A bargain for them, really, as it meant I could keep working while gone.
an6 - stick a snaky vowel near the end of the an5 after it
an6 -- an + printer's measure + holy person
danke uu
and jilli ;)
yw :-)
(top row done now, too)
snaky consonant, I think, uu ;-)
right, of course, jilli, maybe I shouldn't clue while distracted :-)
but consonant is such a long word to type...
either way, I got it from the 'snaky'
Anybody with a google profile, don't look now. Could they mess things up any worse I wonder?
they're at it again, neil?
Ugh, take a gander. Never seen such a bad layout.
* looking *
bummer, neil; fortunately my reader blogs are still fine
ok, gate activity - poof!
You are on there Sue?
I see the right side of the profile is chopped off (google)
she'll have to answer when she's landed now
she will be momentarily, i think
I think neil meant on google -- ?
oh ... oops
The cat is lounging on me and the computer
\\\\\\\\\\
Koda's doing the same thing to me here
"Hello, Kitty...nice of you to join us!"
that last one was from her
i started a blog once, then the host site got gobbled up by google, and all the formatting changed and it all was gibberish, and i tried to fix it but onloy made it worse. GRRRRRR
Feldspar is social
evening all
hiya, dan
hi dan2
hello button's dad
new button photo in my profile
any in's other than in4/4?
and hi alabastercat
oh, very cute, dan2 ;)
there is an in4/7
in6/30
and also in5/16 and in6/30
(sorry, meant clues for...)
she's adorable -- and reaqdy to give you computer lessons?
i'm training her, actually :-)
in4, data about something
the in6/30 in in + not quite a city (strange word)
in6, in + small city
snap, gwen
my niece uses iPhone and Droid interfaces with no problem, and she's about the same age as the 2bit's daughter
oy...thx a for those ;)
in5, plural of the data word
the technically challenged keep getting older and older; while the whizzes keep getting younger and younger :)
<-- shaking head at infant techies
jilli, my younger nephew learned to read by playing online games, starting when he was 2
children under age 5 (give or take) are wired to learn. they can learn a language, or how to use computers, whatever, way faster than us grownups
"for I dipt into the future, far as human eye could see, Saw the Vision of the world, and all the wonder that would be..."
kids under 5 can also change all the settings on your computer faster than the eye can see!
hello everyone
the most impressive years, eh, gwen? along with personality and character...
hey bugs ;)
nice quote, jilli. Hi, bugs
how appropriate, cuz
yep. my dad loves to tell story of his friends, who went to france for a short time, forget how long, and his 4-y-o learned how to speak french, but his 7-y-o only picked up a few words
I learned German between 6 mos and 3 yrs...lost it though because no spoke it when we returned to the States :(
i mean his frend's kids, not my dad's kids (OY)
Hi bugs!
hello all.
brb -- gotta thaw something for supper
yet, us public schools don't teach a foreign language until the kids are like 14-y-o. stooopid
my niece is learning Spanish from me. Since half her neighborhood speaks it, it'll be a useful life skill.
agreed, gwen!
we're debating putting her in French or Chinese immersion elementary school.
my gdau is allegedly learning Mandarin in school; I have yet to hear her say anything in it tho
i took german in high school, and if i had to survive on the german i learned, i'd be dead
the only drawback to early learning of a second language is that their vocabularies in both languages they know are not as full as their contemporaries. Not a big problem if you ask me
(Mandarin and Spanish) ... in other than songs
i agree, that mandarin and spanish is more useful
more than 1 billion people speak mandarin -- it's the gubmint language of china
mandarin could be of more use in the future but only if she wants to go into business
indeed, bugs. OTOH, getting the early exposure to tonal language could be a huge bene
in her first grade, they had her trying to learn mandarin, spanish, and french...a little much if you ask me especially if they can't ultimate even say 'hello'
I agree dc. lots of languages early really helps to cement them
I think so dc. Languages are best learned early.
hi all, se7 pls
koda's wanting attention...brb (again)
if I could speak lots of languages I would have had more reason to travel the world
se7 - broods angrily
ty speller
welcome
hi, speller
hi dc
well, i'm ready for a break, bye bye till later, y'alls
hji speller
that was supposed to be hi

hello dear friends
lovely picture, trif, good evening
thanks dc, thats my secondo, a self portrait....
there, i'm caught up in scrabble and might even be awake enough to make more progress here.
i have not really been paying much attention to the grid today, but have at least hit nbt and more than halfway. have not hit nbs tho....
cool!
i still have nothing from the bottommost E, but have had NBS for some while
btw, do you have dogs?
no, just a cat. My mom had dogs, as did my grandparents.
hmmm. my puppy is acting up something AWFUL tonight, and I am not sure what the issue is....
Seain, the bottom e's are easy ones, you'll get them.
i've alaways said that if ever i have a dog, i'll have inherited it
thanks, molly :)
he has been happily sleeping in his crate for weeks now, and tonight he is barking up a storm and will NOT shut it. he has been out, he has been fed, he's fine. what's up?
Aw, what's wrong with Indy?
hello molly! I am not sure -- he just won't stop yapping.
Maybe something is giving him the eebie geebies.
the dishwasher is on, but this is hardly the first time he has heard it.
yes, or he can hear something we cannot maybe?
I think he is just pissed because he would rather be up with us, wreaking all sorts of havoc.
heh. could be that, too :)
You know how kids get, on those nights they need to come sleep with you? Maybe that's it.
oy. i so often miss those ED words.
easy they were, once i noticed :)
There are a bunch of words that I regularly miss. I think I need to make a list and just type them in at the beginning of each grid.
dcseain, do you need ee4 or el4? I have them if you need.
Okay, back to my movie. Happy word hunting all.
what are you wathing?i am athing the social network

hi stiddy, hi dc!
unless I got the wrong one from your clue?
the river pluralises
thanks for the confidence, pini! of course, I don't have to do "great" -- just "good enough to pass" I am going for a master's, not trying to land a woman on mars!

lol ahhh, anticipation! yeah, that kinda looks like worried.
yep. trying very hard to NOT consider moving to Canada at the end of the quarter and setting up shop in some cabin in the Yukon and...
which could also look like constipation or diarrhea...which inturn could make you worried that you'll be totally inside out before you know it! lol

oh, weird thing i found today. part of Ordway St NW in Washington, DC has one side of the street numbered in the 3000 block and the other in the 3100 block.
interesting concept, dc
(sorry to have missed the fw...koda had a moment)
it was bizarre. in that part of town it goes 30th NW to 34th NW, so additionally, the 3000/3100 block becomes the 3400 block.
somebody forgot their math classes
quite so. Arlington, VA does it better, regularly changing blocks numbering mid-block where street is missing.
gets confusing, eh?
In Arlington? Yes. I go into Arlington several days a week via Washington Blvd. There is a left turn labeled 21st N and N Potomac St at the same time, one sign atop the other. You look down the street and it forks. I checked map. Left one is 21st St N right one is N Potomac St.
egads!
...and here I thought 1-ways were bad enough...
there is rhyme and reason to the system in Arlington, but the imposed a grid over a non-grid street system :)
so, if you know the system, you can *usually* find what you need.
usually being the operative word ;)
though the 200 block of 32nd St N is a court off of 36th St N, and there are a number of such oddities
I think that's probably one of the reasons I stay away from big cities...
'been there, done that' kinda thing
I've always lived in or near an urban area. There are 120,000 or so people in the 2 ZIP codes that make up the unincorporated place that is Reston, VA.
i want to live back in the urban core. Eventually, want a house in the mountains, too.
the area I'm in (2 cities; one on either side of the freeway) totals about 250K
well, i plan to move back in4 the urban core :)
The town proper across the highway from where i live has another 100,000, not including the areas around it with the town as its mailing address
the next closest city is about 45-60 mins away...and PTD is about 2 hrs...close enough to visit, but far enough not to overwhelmed again
