The absurdity of Babble ... 400 one day ... 78 the next
Hi there babble rabble....I have had a hell of a week and this is the first grid I've had time for in 6 days!
Enjoy
almost done....lol...sorta a let down....
grateful for a small one today
Yes, 400 is a bit much ... 78 is not enough
I would bet you are after 400!!
I would prefer 400 to 78
i stuck with 8 to go
i like 250 ish
have 17 left...and I agree, the 200-300 are by far my fav
The Kinks are taking me back a few years .... Deaths of a clown ..
they were great.. the Kinks
Agreed
Watching House Hunters....lol
Do you need a license to hu 4 houses? Is there a limit?
rofl....
Rolling Stones: Angie
hi ruru!
putting a house on the hood of your pick-up truck might be a bit of a challenge too
You too would fit in nicely here in Montana!!
Did you get any snow today in Montana?
Not here, but am SICK of cold weather....had sunshine and 58....way too cold for April....
Went to Wal-Mart to get some BegoneSnow for the yard.
did you find it babble
i planted lettuce and parsley today.... lots of veggies started in sets in the house
How about some Warmupweatherizer?
Oh, I found some but nature will always overwhelm the pathetic efforts of man to bring control to the environment
hello all from the opp side of the world where we are sooooo grateful for cooler weather as winter comes our way - we have such hot humid summers
turned ovet the compost piles and neatened up hte back yard some... made me feel so virtuous
Yes, ursh ... I would send you the coating of snow we got today if I could.
isnt it a bit late for snow ??
not this year..lol
then again the weather does not seem to have a timetable
This spring is supposed to be colder and wetter...and living up to forecast so far...
I am not sure Mother Nature has a schedule ... North Dakota has recorded snowfall in every month with the exception of July and August
Ursh, I have seen snow in every month here
One year it snowed on the 4th of July!
Montana, nevertheless, is getting increasing attention as a retirement haven.
Oh Babble rabble....was just going to tell a North Dakota joke....just kidding...
We still had extreme heat up until two weeks ago well into autumn
Would not be the first one .... Professors at Rutgers have predicted a loss of population will return ND to its roots as a buffalo commons.
Well at least the buffalo will be happy

hallloooo - is there anybody here?
hi, glan, still there?
hi, glan, still there?
(sorry, babble expert hiccuped)
anyway, I am up early (it really is 5:22 am here), due at work at 6 to check students in for volunteer day. Need to put on socks and shoes, drink tea, and get over there, thought maybe I could find a word or two...
Morning Sue. Busy day for you.
actually I will be done by 8:30, so mostly it serves to get me out of bed very early on a Saturday :-)
What is volunteer day?
actually they call it NIU Cares Day - hundreds of student volunteers go out into the community and do good things, in teams (and pre-arranged with the sites). They had to sign up ahead of time, so I'll be part of the team checking them in. Then they get badges and shirts, get on buses, and head out.
How nice.
Part of improving relationships between the university and the town.
The town has a population of about 40,000 and there are 25,000 students at the university, so it's pretty dominant.
anyway, off to fetch tea, brb
back again.

SeaSpray, if you want to name one of those species as an icon theme, I will put it up!
past half way...
go uusue goooo
ty sprite
my pleasure :) It is great to get icon suggestions from babblers.
Hello Everyone :)
hi sadie
hi, sadie!
hiya sprite and sue :)
Hi all
still one blanc tile and one 7 missing, plus some random words. Small but not one of the friendliest grids, I think.
hi Mr Bob
hello my dear babble friends!
Triffles :) *big hug*
Hello all. Cool and rainy here. I've got a pot of chicken soup working.
hi Molly
hiya Molly ohhh chicken soup sounds good
*sits down at Molly's table and throws her hungry looks*
its a sunny day here FINALLY, so I am gearing up to go outside and get the yard in order. but of course, first I have to get NBT!!!
of course, Trif. Will be lovely to be outside though!
it will. there are SO many chores out there, I know I won't get it all done today, but I will make a dent
*Gives Sprite some fresh baked bread and butter to tide her over, as we are an hour away from soup*
don't forget to stop and smell the daisies ;)
oh lovely, Molly!
What's growing out there Trif?
lets' see -- thorns, dead leaves, fallen branches from the winter that still need to get burned, and there is always the sprouting poison ivy to address
Bonfire at Trif's tonight! I'll bring s'more makings.
LOL - bonfire, yes, assuming I can get it started, but not at night -- we have to burn between 9 am and 4 pm, and we only have until May 1st to do so....
and of course it has been drenching rain for WEEKS and they never give us extra time at the end, which really burns me up (see what I did there?)
hi, Molly! Soup sounds good!
Haha, Trif. Perfect pun.
good one :) Hi Scrabs
hello scrabbler! LONG time no chat! how delightful you are here!
hi, scrabs abd trif!
*and
LOLOLOLOL..etc a dad of one of the girls that my 17 year old son hangs with gave him a copy of this to bring home...hehe http://tinyurl.com/ythfxc
Life has been busy and complicated. I lurk occasionally.
hiya crossy *click*
hi, crossy!
my son asked "what the heck do i do with this?" i said "you better fill it out" lol
LOLOLOL that is AMAZING crossy! printing now...
I have seen that before. It's quite funny.
cute, crossy :-)
all my favorite ladies are here! howdy sue, sprite, scwabby!
got back from checking in the student volunteers about an hour ago - we got a thousand of them checked in in about 40 minutes.
LOL crossy! Quite funny!
Soodle shuffles in, clutching empty soup bowl and looking pleadingly at Molly..........
Now they are around town, cleaning up and generally doing good deeds.
Volunteers for what?
Hello Everyone!
Hi Soodle + Car
hiya Soodle and car.ee!
Soodle! and crossy! and uusue! I am not at all interested in heading out doors for yardwork...
CAR!!! now I seriously can't leave!
Hey everybody :-)
NIU Cares Day - where student volunteers, in groups, go to sites around campus and around town and clean up, do odd jobs, and whatnot
then stay here, with us, Trif :)
howdy trif;))
*Gives Soodle some fresh bread and butter to tide her over since we are an hour away from soup*
we have about 1100 students this morning and another 800 this afternoon.
Our weekend will be rainy, and today's bonus is wind gusts.
and hi to soodle and trif!
Morning Trif!
send them this way, uusue! I have LOADS of work for them to do! road trip!
(((Moll))).
what kind of soup is it, molly, did you say?
and yes, it is cold and raining here, but not as windy as it was yesterday.
Hi Sprite! Hi Scrabs! Hi Molly! Hi Soodle! Hi uusue! I Crossy!
cold and rain here today as well...wet flurries tomorrow:(
Impressive turnout, Sue, especially since most college students would usually be sleeping now, crying about a hangover.
howdy car
so i volunteered to help check them in, which meant showing up at the university at 6 am (!)
oooh, car, we need to speak about mom's wife in law....
Oh boy....call me on the cell....
Chicken soup Trif. My soup making vibe gets humming when it is cool and rainy.
I agree, scrabs! They all looked quite enthusiastic, too.
a slice of bread and an empty bowl for me then, Molly, please?
*Slices up second loaf of bread*
Maybe I'll make a pot of soup. I have to drive into town soon to shop. Hmm, vegetable?
Sounds good Scrab.
vegetable soup is nice and healthy :-)
<----- Wonders what a wife in law is.
Visions of all Babblers bursting into song, a la Oliver! the musical.... Food glorious Food.....
must be a cross between a mother-in-law, a stepmother and a father's second wife :)
Oh crap Soodle. You had to go and mention "Oliver". I will now be singing "I'd Do Anything" for the rest of the day.
Consider yourself......One of the famileeee
a wife-in-law? lol somehow i do not think my brother will share lol
a wife in law is my father's second wife....
"Oliver" was our 6th grade musical. It is forever planted in my brain.
am I good or what?
you are GOOD sprite
Good Morning Everybody. The grid yesterday was too large to tackle on a work day; now this one is tiny on a day when I have time.
What part did you play, Scrabbs?
:D
figures, doesn't it, nef? And good morning!
hiya Nef, sounds like life!
status quo nef;)
Hi Nef :-)
ah, the zen of babble
or maybe it's the yin and yang
I was in the chorus, in the orchestra pit. I was/still am not a public performer/speaker. And I the only musical talent I have is listening to music.
My daughters year have just finished a wonderful production of Mama Mia. It was terrific.
So, I need to buy carrots, turnips, parsnips, potatoes, celery....what else shall go in my veggie soup?
bay leaf is always welcome
onions and garlic, scrabs
and some green or chili peppers if you want a little bite to it
and a bit of curry to keep it interesting
Onions + garlic + peppers are not liked by my stomach.
sweetcorn is lovely in soup as well
It is life, isn't it? (Just caught up on chog)
gee i usually add whatever i have too much off or is in the frig to soup
ooooh, corn is a good one!
thts it all this soup talk it is cold and miserable here today im making soup for dinner
Simple cooking is as far as I go. Bay leaf, spices, seasonings = gourmet cooking in my mind.
it is, Nef. Don't let it get you down :)
Hmm. Gives the soup a bit of a bite.
It is a good soup day. Scrabs, if you can't have onions, garlic and peppers, what herbs and spices do you use?
I will get corn. Yellow will make the soup more artsy.
what about tomatoes?
Nef, I am into BASICS.
try some ginger as it enhances the flavor of everything else
I usually add a can of crushed tomatoes.
and if you're putting in turnips and parsnips you could throw in a rutabaga too
tomatoes are alows good in veggie soup
oh a bit of ginger is lovely in chicken soup
hmmm i never thought of ginger Ill have to add that next time i make it
Rutabaga--I don't think I have ever eaten that but I have seen them at the store. They look like big balls of wax.
the best soup I ever had in my LIFE was in a chinese restaurant in boston that has since closed. shredded corn and chicken soup and it was HEAVEN
I always end up throwing beans and peas in veggie soup
it was a saddddddddd day when they shuttered
yes, you have to scrape the wax off but once you do it's a little like turnips except milder
crossy eyes his slow cooker....me thinks a chowder may be in order with a nice simple caeser salad.crusty itallian loaf and nice bottle of aussie white wine...
Rutabaga is wonderful in soup!
so are turnips
how awful, Trif. Especially since they closed before you could beg the recipe out of them.
oh, speaking of shuttering, I heard this week that all my children and one life to live have both been cancelled, and I have to say, I was taken aback! I used to schedule my college classes around AMC, back in the days before VCRs and such...a real end of an era!
*excited* A new adventure today with rutabaga! See how simple I am?
yay, scrabs! A rutabaga adventure!
I don't think I could have begged the recipe out of them, sprite -- complete and utter language barrier in play
errrrr (feels total stranger now) cancelling all your children?
Dear Diary, Today I sliced, cooked and ate a rutabaga!
it's a soap opera, sprite, one of the longest running
woot Scrabs, that is exciting :)
oh! Now I get it. So sorry.
My mother and sisters watched AMC back in the 80's. Not I.
probably what many of our world leaders write in their journals, scrabbler.....
a couple of soap operas, sprite - daytime tv originally designed to appeal to women (back in the 1950s, probably)
We've used rutabagas in soups and also when mashing potatoes. I've even used them raw cut in strips for a veggie appetizer tray
I lead a very simple and unsophisticated life here.
I haven't watched it in years, but even still, hearing that it is just going away was a stunner
I think the only soap I have followed is The Family Bellamy.
crossy just realized it has been a week or more since he has watched television, too many books to read, too much babble to do and all the news that fits is on the interwebs:)
Scrabs, the salt of the earth!
no square eyes for crossy!
crossy, btw, all three of my children have asked me "mom, would you like one of those kindle things for mother's day?".....that bodes well, I think!
Sprite, I am very naive, sheltered and simple. My friends laugh at me.
Trif--have them get you a Color Nook!!
do you use tumeric ever, Scrabs? (if not, a tiny bit will do to start)
bode very well, but i would go sony reader or the barnes and noble nook
just had a wonderful convo with D...all is well...he is relaxing and working quietly on his stamps. Joe is en route for a day or two.
then they can get e-books from the library
I did think of that, scrabbler, but it does not link up with the public library system near here
Trif....I can make sure the Kindle thing happens if you would like...
you sound like a beautiful person to me, Scrabs
no can do, crossy -- see response below
I think the father is on board, car.....
Bay leaf in soup must be a New England thing. I learned it from my Mom, who was from Boston.
Yeah...as I said...I can make it happen!
lol car.ee... wish you could make it happen for me too ;)
well at least with the others, you can download e-pub book files off the net, sorry the kindle is just a tad too proprietary for my liking
Molly, it is a family joke amongst us -- I ALWAYS get the bay leaf in my bowl....
TY, Sprite. I am happiest in the woods.
Did you see my note below about Dad?
And hey, we are "the Bay State"
yes, car
You got it Sprite!
and the new nook touch screen colour is stunning!
Ack! Nobody fishes it out before serving?
you don't take the bay leaf out before serving?
He said to call and check with P in the next day or two. I think they are just unwinding.
Snap Nef
Scrabs, so am I. It is my dream to live in a tiny cottage in or next to a forest.
People can choke on the bay leaf.
hmmm. something to think about crossy. I use our public library a lot, and they don't have a link to the nook, just the kindle and one other one
OK> I am going to target. Trif, shall I come and pick you up?
Like The Shire, Sprite! A house built into a hill!
Yes, of course, you are supposed to take the bay leaf out. But everyone has gotten lazy about it, as it somehow ALWAYS ends up in my bowl, so I just do it. I expect it to be there....
ohhhh Scrabs, that would be heaven!
I'd love to have a round door as well
oh, car, how embarrassing - was just there last night....
Or MY bowl if she is not here.
lol,if you get a sony or a nook trif,i can send you a file containing over 1000 books;)..kindles only load from amazon;(
Why didn't you call me!?!?!? You could have picked up the stuff I need!
it was not a planned thing....was on my way back from secondo
I live next to a wonderful park, Sprite--trails for mtn biking, hiking, XC-skiing; beautiful forests...I want my ashes sprinkled all over there someday.
but each to their own:))
secondos game, and tertiare wanted to get egg coloring stuff, and so we stopped in
Well.....
oh, that does sway the vote, there crossy.....
I always tie my bay leaf on a string (if it's large) or put it in a piece of cheese cloth to pull out when making soup
next time, I promise!
lol, trif, I usually just make soup for myself so always leave the bay leaf in. I can handle getting it out when I eat the soup :-)
TY for the reminder about Easter stuff. I will buy baskets and treats for Mary's kids.
here, give he a e-mail addy and i will send you my book catalogue...
Did we get that E yet on the upper right? Need it for NBT pleaes?
Nef--so clever!
I envy you, Scrabs :) We do have a pleasant park nearby, but it is small and not many trees.
trifioso@comcast.net
k..2 min....
car.ee: spooky
The park is my sanctuary, Sprite.
I just got it, car.....e + carpet fluff
E to the right....
I would be lost if I lived in a place where there were no trees. And not just trees, but old trees.
e + the stuff you pull out of the corner of your pocket
Ding! DIng! Ding! TY! I am off to shop....alone...without Trif.....
could you check and see if they have color nooks there? they have kindles on sale, but now I think I would rather have a nook.....crossy is sure to have more efiles than the NPL anyway....
bye, car.!
Molly, I am a tree lover--I keep a mental list of my favorite trees and their locations.
Bye All!
Bye Car.
bye car.ee
bye car
bye car. if you would like to roast a hot dog later, come on over to the bonfire!
Scrab, I think I was an arborist in another life.
I think I was a tree in a former life. I feel lost away from a forest.
Molly, I think I was a mighty oak in a former life.
((Sprite + Scrab)) Former trees!
maybe you were all dryads or forest elves?
Or a hobbit?
fireflies! Pretty decent grid for one so small, it took me a while to finish. Dryad, quite possible, Trif!
okay, speaking of trees, now I have to go light some former trees on fire, or try to anyway....my yard is a MESS
yay, sprite!
huzzah for sprite!
Congrats, Sprite! And I must drive into town to shop. 36 to find later.
have a great day, all. *hugs*
YAY, Sprite!!! WTG!!!
bye, sprite and scrabs!
ok trif, the lists are sent,i had to compress it so you will need win zip to open it,but 99% of computers have that anyways
if not go to www.oldversion.com and load a free copy of win zip
compressed files are key if your on the receiving end of 1000+ books lol
just let me know when you get the lists
Oh here we go. Gas is about to hit $4.00 a gallon. Thank God I don't have a long commute to work.
And that I have a car that gets good gas mileage.
3.99 here today, molly
$5.20 a u.s gallon here today molly
It also makes me grateful that I'm not a person who has to drive all over town to keep myself occupied. Being a "homebody" is easy on the gas budget.
I'm surprised. I thought gas was higher than that in Canada.
problem is the cost of everything else: if it is in a store,it got there on a truck;(
it makes me wish I was closer to family instead of clear across the Cities.
Glad to hear it's not.
True, Molly! I am still driving my 2003 Prius with 115,000 miles on it; still glad that I only live a mile from campus!
we are headed for $6.00 a gallon by june molly
I don't know how the people driving the big, gas guzzling SUVs are keeping their vehicles on the road. I saw one fill up for $125 the other day. Damn.
with that short a drive sue,a nissan leaf would be a perfect fit for you
all electric 60 mile range
plugs into the dryer outlet type plug at home
it would, crossy, but I am not in the market for a new car right now (no $$$). Hoping the Prius lasts another 115k miles.
will change commuting habits for sure
:((
Wow Sue, will it really last that long? With the original engine?
dunno, Molly, they haven't been around that long, but the engines (it has two, one gas and one electric) should be ok, I think.
hiya guys, how u doing
up here,it is the battery packs and not the engines that you have to watch
hut
sorry about typing hut, a total mistake
hi, aaron, no problem, not a word in the grid anyway :-)
how many words have u got
78 ( small grid today)
I have 2!
i have 12
I know someone who has an Element with over 300,000 miles on it.
hi all
hi, jmc!
Hi JMC
my saab gets good gas mileage but when i am no longer driving down town every day it will help
of course then i will be commuting to Harrisonburg once a week to make up for it! lol
hi jmc
Seems like there is always a trade off.
hi sadie
Hi jmc. Does this mean you found a new job?
no I wish nef. I am getting a masters in conflict transformation at Eastern Mennonite University
Wow! That sounds interesting; and it sounds like something that's needed in the world today too
i think it will give me the edge i need to get work
Oh my God. That T-Mobile commercial spoofing the royal wedding is hilarious. It's a take off on that couple that danced down the aisle.
a couple dance down the aisle at the royal wedding?
happy saturday. will be in and out as i'm at work. how's the grid?
Good luck with the program, and with the subsequent job hunt, jmc!
i did see in the grocery check out line she is preggers
hi jes
ty and pb uu ;-)
not bad i think jes and very very tiny
hi, jes! Grid is small.
the grid is small but (so far) pleasantly tricky
small is good, the last few have been so big i haven't managed to finish
lol unfortunately yesterday i didn't even look at the grid until late afternoon! i was doomed
same here jmc; only it was late evening when I first saw it. I didn't even try....
i thought about not working on it and then i remembered i never look at my score so i dove right in
then stopped to cook dinner for guests who stayed late
I think that is just a rumor about Kate Middleton being pregnant. Time will tell I guess.
hmmm the mag i saw has a disturbing way of being creepy but accurate -- but it wont be a secret for long anyway
Ts topped!
any clue for that lower C would be greatly appreciated. It's my last for NBT and I'm not getting dressed for the day til I find it!
i am always dressed in the height of fashion and then pl
well, nef, if you were a model your dress might be tres ch**
ch4/7 - fashionable
but i don't have the third one
hi kje! I have bluebonnets from Ladybirds in my icon
DUH! Slapped by a fish! Thanks!!!
it was a tough search my sisters and i went on but i wasn't going to dallas where they said you actually had some
3rd one from that c is almost like a disaster but has a different final consonant
nice jmc
ty uu

The dude in the icon is goes by the name of ineffable and the band is the ethereals
And you??

what kind of music do they play? celestial?
well not fighting fit what with all the peace crap but in good form nevertheless
;-)

seen on hic/hick..seen em all
okay half way i must go and knock off some more tax returns
*one*
what fun tax forms are!
hic is a hic up; hick is a person
<---taxes have been done for weeks..:D
Lucky for us it is a sunny day here as we did an Easdter Egg tombola in aid of our local British |Legion-rassed about £150
is that like an easter egg hu**?
rassed? raised!
(I do about 100 forms each year ru--you don't think world saving pays do you?)
No it is more like a raffle- all the prizes have numbers on them ending in a zero and you 'dip' 5 tickets for a £1 and if your ticket matches you get the prize
I hate taxes
I would be so much better off without them
same here
i've been so happy to let my friend do my taxes the last several years... :)
ah a raffle!
need to get ready for tennis.. bbl
i doubt you would really but have fun at tennis
bye, ru!
c u all later! *poof*
Bye jmc
bye, jam
i appear to be stalled out just short of half way...
back. I have a friend who calls quite often and can talk off both of my ears! Most calls last 1/2 hour or longer (she lives alone); I got off easy this morning! :-)
sc6/27?
sorry, Shil, I don't have it (but am looking)
qu7= a question
sc 6 = sc+ **nt +*oo*(northern water bird with haunting call)
sc6?? The silver sc****
whaa??
tadaa all done!
woah, thx nef, wouldn't have gotten that
YAY, Sadie!!! WTG!!!!
ty :)
sc + **nt?
I wouldn'thave either but my typing stinks today (fingers slipped)
the **nt is another word in grid (4/6): something I do to find my keys each day
ty Nef
isn't there a word Ineluctable? But there is no eluct? Why would you need a word saying something can't be done that doesn't even exist anyway?
sc 6/21....s + **la dancing in Hawaii + you bake pottery in a ki**
Sorry sc +
Morning babblers
lol Kaplan - thats English for you!

Good morning.

The one to watch is Min & Bill with Marie Dressler.
and Wallace Beery.

once in a while my clues make sense (not often enough, though)
Hi fellow babblers
there is our sneaky little lw 4/8 in here i see
ah, thanks, cross
np:)
hi beach
thanks, crossy. And hi beach
2 lw's
afternoon al - back from another long walk - 10 miles today
hello all, my cat just threw up on the carpet :(
that sounds really great, Kazz. I'm jealous thinking about it (can't walk far these days, need a hip replacement)
thanks for *sharing* peri. :-(
NP
this is a nasty little grid. much prefer the big grids
wish i could walk for fun:(( after pounding the ashphalt for 9 hours a day, when i get home my feet are a swollen mess that feel like they have filled with poison gass and metal shavings;(...crossy is carrying too much weight atm
I was saying it wasn't evil earlier; but now that I'm down to 20 left, it's getting tougher.
I'm back...Peri LOVE your kitty input...lol
jilly:))) wb
but she did pee in the litterbox today, YAY
TY crossy...finished grid last night but here for chat fix...
My kitties have spring fever this morning....tearing around like mad...
i am doing the walking so I wont need a hip replacement in my later years. And i do carry a lot more weight than i should.
congrats on finishing, Jilly. I'm going to have to list I think to finish it
It was great though we saw 2 bitterns at different times a cuckoo and watched the antics of the Marsh Harriers - it was fantastic
snow tomorrow here...spring walkies will have to wait:((
And I feel GREAT with 39 pounds gone, 40 to go however :( ...but no low back pain...NOW if the weather would warm up to walking temp...
i am only losing weight sloly but have lost 3 inches on my hips and waist - havent done the top so I dont know about up there. but hubby has lost 32 lbs now
It snowed here overnight -about an inch- but is now melting away again
why do men always lose weight twice as fast as women?
Yep Nef, I listed early on...
Ten miles is good ... to see what has not been looked at in awhile and have no purpose but enjoy the now .. good for you, Kazzer ... do the accentuate the positive thing ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z45EB4T iYz4
Well, this time I beat my hubby...it took him 6 months to lose what I did in 50 days...yay!!
most of them seem to have a much more focussed approach and are better able to resist temptation
even when I eat less than DH; he still loses faster than I can (and I have always been more active than he has been)
Hmmm Kazzer...there's a metabolism difference...
bbs
bye peri
I love the walking cos we get to see lots of interesting birds and feel good - 10 miles is becoming the norm now at the weekend and then tomorrow we are joining our gym - having the induction course
Jilly, you lost 39 pounds in 50 days??? What did you do? Starvew?
starve, even
HCG Nef...
??? You are pregnant???
Injections...went to a naturopath in Kalispell
thanks for the clip, BR, loved that one!
But I had NO hot flashes when on it!!
Hello, Nef
are you high and dry, BR?
Hi again BR...
omg the sc5/16 and the sc6/27 were nasty:(
monkeyed the sc words and had to have clue help for the se7/32
they were, crossy. I just found them with a typo
as did i:)
se +ri5/12
I am dry ...
thank goodness, BR!
Quite the nasty spring all around...see there's tornado warnings all over...and flooding...and snow..
the weather is wicked here; but at least there is some pretty green finally showing up all over
Just wish it would get up in the 60's...the 40's are just too cold
Thunderstorms are getting ready to roll through here. It's windy and rainy. A good day for staying put.
When the National Weather Service provides the windchill vestiges of winter remain ..
stole a good clue for that nasty se 7/32=
hello. quite a feat to go nbt today, eh?
may I please have a clue for the ci6?
darn...i am not tracking well today lol
The cr 6 is like a terrible situation, but change the last letter
round thing: ci*cle + ***en Elizabeth
thank you molly
Is that the same spelling as the ci6/30 de Soleil?
thanks, br
yes molly
cr + admonition for a photo smile: say ch****
thanks br
I don't have it yet, aslin, but will look (and thanks for the cr 6 Moly
thanks, molly
Well, probably should get something done today...anyone need clues before I leave?
i would take a 7 or two
qu 7 --- ask questions about
qu7/40=what you request from a spreadsheet or build under MS Access
ah thanks br
quiche does not exist in the puzzle. sadness.
se7/32=se+ri5/12
thanks bab, jilly :)
thanks!
and with that...exit stage right... *poof*
bye, jilly

Finally! DH is laying down and our daughter is gone! I can get this grid done without interruptions now! :-)
scrolling back .. nasty weather all over. snowing here (again) - second storm this week
heh. are you supposed to be that happy to send your daughter off so you can play a computer game, nef?
even though she's 28, she's still so ADHD that it's distracting. Sometimes I just want some earplugs when she's around! (I shouldn't admit to that, should I?)
peace and quiet doesn't live in my house....
you do not have to justify nef..my 17 year old son is adhd lol
don't feel too bad nef, my daughter is 24 & very bi-polar . I frewuently feel the same

hagd, crossy!
what is poink? a poof variation?
must be the bacon-inspired version of poof
bye, crossy
I think it's bouncing off the trampoline
ah. another good way to exit.
sounds very " mad magazine" inspired
how many s6 words? i only have one, a normal word
2 sc6 words
monkeys are looking for those s's
One is normal, one is very very abnormal.
normal one is a TV sc****
ty leslie ann
I have a clue for the other if folks are ready for clues

oh bugger i had the hard one needed one with double vowel at end. was sure i was missing an sc. thanks nef, fireworks!
good clue there, LA! I found more words today with bad spelling than I ever have before. :-)
Pepper letters?
YAY, LA!!! WTG!!!!
ch 5/14 - ch*** pepper. there's another ch 5/14 in which you just swap the two last letters
That's funny. To me, the pepper word is slang for young one. As in "Honey ch5/14". It's a southern thing.
never heard that one before, Molly
so, does anyone need clues?
If not; I'd better get busy doing some laundry.
i think i'm out too nef. have a good day all.
bye now. <poof!>
wow, molly, i thought the honey ch*** was more universal . . .
<<<<<< puppies on their way to happy forever home "up north"
Hello all -- just here briefly again
I've always thought that was spelled "honey chile" or "honey chil' ", just dropping the d off the end...

hi jilli
hi jilli, hi again ru--how was tennis?
hi ruru -- I'm half asleep -- too much wine last night
I got slaughtered today
lol
aw, poor ruru!
hope it was good wine jilli?
I couldn't serve worth beans today
Santa Rosa Sauv blanc and then some red I think was Barefoot Zin
sorry, ru. if it's any consolation, i'm sure you'd beat me handily despite poor serves :)
santa rosa?
I should have served beans instead come to think of it
can't stay -- bridge friendly foursome coming this afternoon and then I'm going to a party this evening -- phew!
jilli.. you party girl you..lol
have fun, jilli :)
I mean Santa Rita, from Ch***
Santa Rita is an okay producer
I used to sell it
I worked for the importer of it for a hile
*while*
Glad to hear that, ruru -- it fits our budgets here. Prices here are much higher than yours -- tons of tax.
yes.. I visited the estate in Chile too
quite a history behind that winery jilli .. you should read up on it sometime
I will, ruru, but not just now -- actually, I have to go -- lunch to get, and then my bridge buddies arrive...etc!
Happy babbling, all, and ..... *poof
hola
bye, jilli
hi, kje

wine question
fire away
ordering whites - used the last bottle of kenefick last night... also lookig at seghesio's sice i have others coming from there but not as familiar with their grapes
they have pinot grigio, which I know, but then arneis and fiano which i do not kow
what does Seghesio make in whites these days.. ?
have you tasted their whites?
only Chardonnay.. I 'm not sure they make it any more. I particularly like their two ZInfandels.
yes, I get their zins ad sangiovese regularly, but I need some whites
and I am not a big chardoay fan - esp CA chards since they get too oaky
I just had a rare treat- it's right before Passover and we needed a major cleaning, so called in the pros- can't afford to do this on a regular basis but it sure is nice to have some help- I live with pigs.
my fave whites are voignier ad gewurztraminer
you might like Mark Herold's new Albarino ($26)..at Mark Herold Wines
And cows and chickens.
nice kap
Well, not really, but it seems that way.
Navarro makes a great Gewurztraminer.
Trader Joe boxed wines- it's the latest thing in trendy.
Ruru makes a great Katzenjammer.
And an awesome Gefilte.
I had the Kenefick White last night myself. IT is really nice.
can't order herold on line apparently
oh.
yes, goes well with my asian seafood dishes
another I like is French.. DOmaine Sainte Anne they make a really nice viognier and it is really priced well.
you can get that at Rare Wine Company in Sonoma
hi again, all!
hmmmm... wonder if i ca find that here - I love the savignon blancs from sancerre but lately have been having trouble finding good ones here
Hi UU
You can order Mark Herold from Carpe Vino in Auburn California to ship to you
sorry to have left abruptly eariler in the day, was not feeling well. Took a nap, now slightly better but may nap some more.
have to place orders soon before temps get too high here
naps are nice. sorry you're not feeling up to par.
hmm .. try 2009 Henri Pelle Menetou Salon "Morogues" instead of Sancerre
Especially as it is snowing outside, which I thought was illegal in mid-April (not really but it's something else to complain about :-)
last question ru then I will stop making you work ; )
brb
go ahead
wine for ham?
just noticed I only have 10 words left; might as well finish first :-)
Ew! Snow in April Sue? Sorry you're not feeling well. *Continues reading wine conversation while sipping cheap beer*
go sue go
Beaujolais, Geuwurz, Dry Rose, and Dry Riesling are the best with the ham due to salt
I have 17 left but don't see noffin'
yep, that salt and smoke is hard
i am using lickety, kap, no other way for me today
OK - thanks! sorry for making you work o a saturday
really - thaks
(or any other day as far as that goes)
ow ill just go back to harassing you
brb
I have qu7- what are the stats on the other 7?
se 7/32
se7
se7/32 (don't have it yet)
I am happy to inform you that the missing word is NOT serchie.
that is good to know, kap :-)
nor is it seichie, and if I go on this way, i am sure to find it.
You were closer with the first one Kap
really?
just used morewords for the first time (does that mean I've lost my virginity???) to find the sc6/27
Yes Sue, you have been deflowered.
I hope there was at least dinner first.
no but I did just have some soup :-)
se + deadly poisonous gas
thx, ruru!
OK, thank's ruru.
thanks.
Ha! Fireworks!
!!!!!!! Sue !!!!!!!!
Wow, sue. congrats.
navarro does not list a gewurzt
though they have a chenin blanc
what?
15 left. bbl.
thought you had said navarro makes a gewurztraminer
they do.. it's in a package apparently. You can call the winery to see if they can send it on its own.
bye, kap!
look on the package in option # 2
k
they must be low in inventory on the Gewurz
ah, ty... see it now... sorry to bother you
it is really dry and always good
have you tried their muscat blanc? would be sweet, but curious
no.. I like Domaine Weinbach 's Muscat (Spec's would have it) the best and it is not expensive and it is dry
holy cow!!! they offer 1 cent shipping!!! wow
wow - unbelievable
Their pinots have gotten better too.
will make a case to get the cheap shipping, anything else I should try from there?
let me look
looks like the sampler @ $200 is a pretty good deal. The Rose and the L'Ancienne Pinot are nice. You'll love the Gewurz.. the Chenin is Dry and would work with ham too
wi wat more tha 1 gewurzt so will make my own case... thanks, ru - you gave me lots of ideas
crap, my typing is getting worse
will want is how that should have started
you should get a finders fee
I bought a case of the Henri Pelle.. it will bring tears to your eyes it is so good
since you did well with the kenefick, I will trust you on the gewurzt and order plenty this time
will check it out
there was another Mendocino winery that made a nice Gewurzs.. but they sold and don't make it any longer.
tears to the eyes? do tell
ruru does know his wines!!
it is hauntingly beautiful... and would be perfect with your feta cheese meals
do you order the pelle direct from them?
no.. I bought it from a retailer.
I would guess one of your bigger wine shops would carry it in Dallas.
qu'est-ce que c'est?
It is just like a great Sancerre for half the price
cool, will check for it
it's like $19.99 and waaaaay worth it
yes, yes? (sancerre being one of my preferred whites, now that i'm free from ken and his obsession with chardonnay)
I thought his obsession was you?
wine searcher says it isn't sold in tx - good lord
damn it
maybe that was the problem, ru... his bsession SHOULD have been her ; )
how can I ship you a bottle..to the hospital?
sold in CA and NY
http://www.wine-searcher.com/find/henr y+pelle+menetou+salon+morogues/-/usa
what is the vineyard ru? and no, that wasn't the problem -- the problem is just that we were not truly a good fit
damn
would't ship to the hospital - it goes to receivig ad sits there for too long
He makes three wines. Morogues is the least expensive.. Clos Blanchais is the old vine and incredible btu pricier @ $30 and the Ratier which is more and too earthy for my taste.
I want some wine so good i cry now... see what you have started
ok. will see if my friendly local winecellar can get me a case... sounds delicious
it is perfect Sauvignon blanc.. just perfect
looks like i ca order it from CA
ok, have requested it. they did get me the littorai..so I have hopes
try a few bottles first with food and let me know if you like it
Wine and cheese party in the chog!
i always like everything ru recommends
will it go with truffle tremor?
wow... lots of these places have minimal stock - less than a case
yes
people are onto it in California..
that is my favorite cheese when truly indulging myself, which i feel like today
I had it in my tasting group and it outscored the Cotat's, Delaporte, and Vacheron
found a case i SF
It will age for two years.. so if you can drink it up in that time..what's the price?
K&L won't ship to TX????? wtf!
that is weird... everyone else ships to tx.... may have to call
talk to Bryan Cooper at K & L or Michael Jordan in SF
not Bryan Cooper.. Bryan Brick
k
if i say you sent me will they pay you?
Bryan is in Redwood City.. Michael is in SF
ist cr6 pls
c + peanut butter cup
ty ru, fireworks
have not had any wine in years, give me a headache :(
<ruru.. cluing genius
bye for now
no one will send to nj these days.. ridiculous..
K&L says oly wieries ca ship to TX, not wine merchants
hmmmm
damn
drop the magic name of ruru and maybe they will kj
lolol
that'
s is so weird..it is a reciprocal state no?
now i am pissed at TX
sokay k, i am pissed at NJ (and our fat f*** governor)
lol, dorens! Just don't inflict him on the rest of us!!
do you remember the vintage, ru - see all here from 2007 to 2009
what is it with East Coast Governors?
if the rest of the country is as dumb as the voters of this state, god help us all
I get wine shipped from CA all the time, ru... o idea why you ca't from a dealer
i used to.. don't know exactly when they changed the deal here, but a few years ago it was possible, then last summer we found it wasn't any more
interestig - looks like NY can ship here (though their prices per bottle are higher)
hmm
I just got a $20K wine order from K & L..wwwwwwweeeeeeeeeee
ok, will need to get a case looks like... to trust or ot to trust, that is the question
tack o a couple hundred for me ru and tell them to sed it here - I won't sue them
i'm happy to send you a bottle. to try.
and won't tell the state!
ru - was it the 2009?
Hi, all!
need to head to SF to get my hair cut.. see you all later.. have a great weekend everyone... yes Kje it is the 2009 Henri Pelle Menetou "Morogues with a blue capsule
oh Pammers hi!
Have a good haircut.
Wine beckoned. ;)
hi pam
(did't think he had hair left to cut)
the little grids bring pam out of the woordworks
Hi, kje and all.
I loved yesterday's but a headache kept me from chatting.
thaks again ru
let me know how I did kje
buy a box of Kleenex when the Pelle arrives
hey pam, andbye ru
NY blocked me too
hi, pam (and dorens!), bye ruru!
kj, do you have a local wineseller that will order it for you? that's what i usually do
Hi, Dor and usue!
Hi, anyone have a clue to the se 7, 32? It is probably fishlike but not to me.
se + deadly poisonous gas
se + dangerous poisonous gas
LOL SNAPO
there are some, but noe i know personally - will go make frieds I guess
was supposed to go to cambridge this morning, but have been totally exhausted from bronchitis which still is nowhere near gone and still working like a nutcase, so i'm home in bed resting.
cr 6/24
Ty bichon. Friedworks here!
it just went through at saratoga wine exchange... will see if they ship or call me... maybe they are risk takers
good job kj
if they call and stop it, i will go talk to the guys where I buy my other alcohols
m, got it
yay, gmere!
dorens, I'm sorry you're not feeling well! Hope you feel better soon.
mine are terrific.. seem to be able to get me anything for a decent price, and i can do it online, so it is thoroughly painless .. almost too easy
sherry lehman blocked me, but they are bigger so know better - lol
thanks sue--and that is funny kje
i suspect saratoga will call, we will see...
who do you use there, dores?
liquor outlets in boonton. happens to be five minutes away from me, but they really have one of the best wine cellars in nj too
i should prob start making ice at the liquor store ; )
nice - not ice... though ice might be more usefu;
LOLOLOL
it's a pretty easy recipe kje
lol, ruru!
wine and cheese cask in somerville is alsos terrific and it's five minutes from my son. we are a blessed family, wine cellar ways
hah ru. i had to think a long time about what you meant (my head clogged with codeine, etc)
Wine and cheese cask has a great reputation, Dor.
how can one person be so nice and such a brat both ; )
I don't drink enough wine to cultivate relationships... Ru's bottle recommendations are enough, LOL!
I'm a nice brat
gave up on the haircut ru?
Going to pick up Stidmama to see if a cup of coffee will perk her up.
no.. just waiting for Mrs Ru to get ready
I'm going to look like Moses before she is ready
Watching soccer and playing babble. Bliss
say hi to stidmama, gmere!
several years ago, we got turned on to rabbit ridge brunello clone, which was terrific... the two shops were the only ones on the east coast that sold it
<---parts the SF Bay into two
I put up a new picture of Murphy and I hope it shows up. Meanwhile enjoy your afternoons.
LOL, ruru
meaning hairy? old? jewish? sunburned? prophetic?
cup of coffee and your company should perk her up
hagd mere
My head is bad again, so I am avoiding reds and enjoying the Loosen Riesling these days.
Or Scotch.
But not often, as my head is bad.
sorry to hear that pam. pollen season?
Yep. Pollen/sinus.
think it's a particularly bad one this year
It's ok. I'll live. Just shouldn't drink much.
all this talk about wine is fascinating, but when i feel like this i don't drink either
It has been bad. And i have an earache today, so I know sinusitis is afoot. Dang.
is there any decongestant that helps you?
Yes, I am lucky, Dor. And I don't do the "go to the doc and ask for meds thing" unless the earache lasts. I know the drill and prefer whole patient/holistic approaches,
totally understand... so this cough i had for a week or so,, i just did what i know i should do, and then finally on wednesday i succumbed and went to the doc and it is supposedly bronchitis.... except i don't seem to have responded to the antibiotics at all
Yep, exactly, though I am sorry you're not feeling better. My previous doctor "scrapped" all that others before him had me doing and my world improved. I still get the headaches, mind you, but he also told me how to take the meds he prescribed for that pain. As for allergies, etc, he was wonderful. No combined products, antihistamine at night, controlled release decongestant in the morning, flonase, and benadryl as needed. And, I irrigate my sinuses regularly. I am a new woman. Oh, and I used to have chronic headaches. Now, i have days on end without head pain!
Hello Babble buddies!
sounds like a good regime. my son is anti-combined products too well hello ms. scrabbler!
Scrabs!
It really helped.
Sabres vs Flyers soon. Pregame is getting me pumped.
Sending healing vibes your way, Doren. Come on, Doren's Immune System! Get to work now. Stop goofing off.
i used to be a huge flyers fan (learned hockey while living in philly, what else could i do?)
oh, thanks scrabs... sure that will help!! (+ the orange i just ate)
My father taught me early on to dislike the Broad St Bullies!
dave schultz? he epitomized the bullies. my husband once got me a poster of bobby clarke for the bedroom door!
Yep, those guys, and Bernie Parent was the goalie in the 70's, right?
then when we moved to long island, we split season tickets to the islanders with another resident.. denis potvin, bryan trottier. i went into labor at a game. (yes, bernie parent... great goalie)
"Reich" was rejected. Phooey.
And their goalie was Billy Smith back then, right?
glenn reich was the islander's goalie lol
Be back later
yup, and he was replaced by glenn reSch, not resch. bye pammers
Bye Pam
everybody seen the video of the dancing royals?? http://tinyurl.com/3r7r9jm
was on the news this morning une... cute indeed
32 to find and the monkeys are very busy. Hi Une.
hi, une!
think I am going to go nap some more...
hey, scrabs . . . dorens, I loved it! LOL
howdy, sue :-)
it's a good day to nap
This morning uusue, Sprite, Trif and Molly suggested I get a rutabaga for my veggie soup. What do I do with it now?
Hi Sue. I got my rutabaga--it looks like a huge candle.
it's like a turnip, right?
It's the size of a grapefruit.
peel it and cut it up
What's it like inside? Typical tuber?
It is SUCH an odd thing.
tubers are, aren't they?
LOL - you still talking soup, Scrabbs?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutabaga< ----I am doing my research now.
http://www.vegparadise.com/highestperc h4.html
oh, i see you found a spot of your own. interesting... cross between turnip and cabbage
Soodle, I decided to roast a pan full of veggies--potatos, rutabaga, carrots, parsnips...I couldn't find turnips.
scsrabbs.. did you check out rutabaga.com?
Jeepers, that pic on wiki looks just like what i call a turnip. I have never heard of rutabaga in my life.
rutabagas are called swedes where you live soodie,?
Look at that, Doren!! A paddling web site!!
I've heard of rutabaga but it sounds like it should be on the road along with Winnebagos.
think it was meant to be!
hi, scrabs, the rutabaga will give a flavor to the soup similar to the turnips. Just make sure you get all the wax off (they do look kind of like big candles!)
they are very much like large turnips, soodle
I'm not sure, Dorens. But looking at the picture, it looks exactly like a turnip.
That shop is in Wisconsin---Swedish immigrant haven.
hello haz!
If it smells like a turnip while cooking, be sure to leave a window open. Hello!
But then, I don't know the difference between a turnip and a swede.... (Is there a difference?)
Hi Haz
Good Afternoon :)
from Texas A&M: The rutabaga is very similar to the turnip except that it generally has yellowish flesh, a more dense root with more side shoots and they are usually harvested at a larger size. Unlike the turnip, the rutabaga has smooth, waxy leaves.
Hello Haz. Unusual to see you here this time of evening :-)
Rutabaga = Swedish turnip.
Swedes have paler flesh than turnip.
Hi GE
swedish word for rootbag - rutabaga
Hello, Soodle. Not my usual time, you're right.
I am tempted to insert a string on top and light it.
A poor-man's-pumkin!
why is haz up so late?
It's only 10! The night is young.
yes that is true.. but i never see you here at this time
lol again, scrabbler! I don't know why they are always sold encased in wax.
but anyway it is the same family as the turnip, just a different species, so shouldn't be too different.
anyway I really am going to go lie down now...
turnips are generally whitish inside
happy nap sue
Haz - the insurance company finally coughed up, and the workmen started chez Soodle on Thursday. I thought of you and what you had said when they appeared at the door, and demanded tea.
You went and put the kettle on, I take it?
Lurking fireworks - Happy Babblung, y'all
and not as strong a flavor as turnip, light green
Yay MetFan!
Indeed I did, and then remembered the Fawlty Towers episode involving 'Murphy the Builder'....
yay met... i am going off in search of a cup of tea now myself... later, gators
Well, I will probably wait til tomorrow to cut up all of my veggies.
Well done MetFan!
Bye Doren
Yes, with doors in the wrong places and dors boarded up.
Not the first time chez Soodle has been compared with Fawlty Towers :-(
*doors. The late hour is having a bad effect on my typing.
Okay, off I go to watch some TV. Enjoy the grid!
I will take a break too. In holding pattern at 32 to go.
Oh, and never let on but I've found evidence of the Babble Rules Committee's workings. See my profile, but keep it secret. You DIDN'T hear it from me.
*gone*
Rushing to Haz's profile... Have a good evening/ day all departers.
Our Haz is very clever. Bravo!
Bless her. She got it absolutely Spot On. Well done Haz. I would like to propose her as Secretary of the Babble Rules Committee. Care to second her, Moll?
Oh no. I murdered the chog. Again. Mae Culpa.
Cheers to you Haz (even though you've left). BRC secret safe with me!
I am quite sure I am dyspeptic because of dystopia.
Hi GE, and Hi BabbleRabble. BR... at least your not dysfunctional.
I know nothing of The Secret Babble Committee. I know nothing.
Hello. Some would disagree; but I do not mind.
Ve haf vays off making you tolk......
Mae Culpa. Is she the great granddaughter of Mae West? : P
Sergeant Schultz: I see NOTHING! I know NOTHING!
mea culpa, mea culpa, mea máxima culpa. through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
The Shakespearean obsequious: Some carry-tale, some please-man, some slight zany, Some mumble-news, some trencher-knight, some Dick,
Oh, BR, I am being transported back to my dim and distant past. At school, as 5/6 yr olds, we had to learn all that off by heart. In Latin. We had barely mastered the English language, yet they tried to force feed us all the 'Holy Latin Stuff'. No wonder this country is up the creek now!
Dominus vobiscum.
Back to more "Voyage Of The Dawn Treader" with me.
I miss the latin sometimes: gregorian chant: Dies Irae
How powerful suggestions are. At the mental health site I go to, many were triggered by Dies Irae. They were concerned if they let go to haunting sounds they would not be able to escape from them .. much like the work of the sirens
Perhaps Verdi's Dies Irae Solti would be a better choice?
I suppose it it untoward for a babble to babble while at babble
Its incredible how powerful music can be. And not just classsical music. I believe music has the power to uplift or depress a person.
I am breaking a confidence here, BR, but at a recent (secret) meeting of the Babbles Rules Committee, it was (secretly) decided to allow Babblers to babble at will. So you're not untoward at all.
In fact - Babble away!
Well, I have sought help at Babbler's Anonymous
Hello everybody. My name is Soodle. And I am addicted to Babble.
Hello Soodle. Welcome.
Anyone else like to get that off their chest?
Apparently not, GE!! But thank you for your acknowledgement. And now its time to bid you all a good night.... Enjoy the rest of your Saturday. Poof
Be well
Fireworks
hi all. congrats craftyl!

Oh Bye Lynnxx, I drifted off there for a bit.

Well Hoochie is also a word, btu probably not with enable.

Maybe this will help you finish redturtlehead......
Hello to all ch 4/7s and ch 5/14s! I am done with grid so I will give you some hi4/5s with a story of clues to help you hu 4/6 for words. So last week my computer starting wigging out. I thought it was very ee5/10. I continued to use my computer even though I kept on getting pop-up warnings. Finally, laptop went ph 4/7 and died. It was a very cr6/24 event for me because I couldn't babble. After making some qu7/40 about my computer's behavior, I was told that computer had a virus. My hubby heard my cr 5/12 of sorrow when my computer died. Although Babble ir 4/4 him, he knows how much Babble en6/24es my life & felt bad that my computer was broken. I asked for my hubby's in 5/14 on what we should do about computer laptop. Should we buy a new one or get it fixed. Hubby reminded me that we are not ri4/6 and can't afford a new one. He suggested we hi 4/5 our ni 4/5 friend who would not charge a lot to fix it. So that is what we did & laptop is working like new again. I am going to ri 4/4 out of this chair and see what I can watch on my tv sc6/21 I hope that you've se 4/4 some more words with this story. I will be back later to clue if people need clues.
cute story again Min (as usual)
yes we are due for 2 in.
thank you Minver. that did help down to 22 left.
Thank you Nef, although it had a couple of errors in it
good news: my main tv appears to have died this afternoon.
We got maybe 1-2 inches overnight, but at least it doesn't last at this time of year
snow Nef? OMG!
it's been in the upper 30's (F) all day here; cold and dreary
BBL *POOF*

i need 13 words and have no prospects

cr6.21 is like the fold in your clothes but with a double vowel
(i'll just ride TO's coattails)
yw, jmitch
TO is always welcome
ty dawg! red was just here but i did not see her leve. multitasking
Oh I have returned. I am coming and going. 19 left.
go red!
lbd, how are the roses doing?
i am going now. i am so excited that my tv is dead. now i can get a ne one!
Hi BR!! right now they are playing the role of sticks! nothing on them, but then they probably wont show anything for at least another month
congrats TO!
lol TO
I looked at tv;s last week, and then was shocked at the prices.
you can find some reasonably priced flat sc6's. check out walmart and target. stay away from best buy.
Why stay away from Best Buy lbd?
it was Wally world I was looking at. oh my. 600.
iwill shop costco
Hi Molly. mostly on principle. best buy is not into customer service. they charge you for returning anything, and they are just mean. Where they have great products, they lose it on customer service. NEVER BUY A COMPUTER FROM THEM!
costco is good, kinda pricy
Red, it depends on the size you want. the huge ones come with comparable prices.
Well, I have a tv I bought for 200 dollars back in the day, it is big and huge. But it is working so I guess I am sticking with it.
ty is huge, one of the 1st stereo tvs, about 25 years old. cannot get channels over 64 without help
and the spare is also iffy right now.
that's usually the way things go...all at once!
costco has great deals, vizio
well rated
ok, i just got booted. and i really do think an ark may be in order tonight. bye all!
good Luck TO.
as long as you have good competition for items, you can find good deals. here in southern tundra, it's slim pickins
night, TO
this is true lbd.
6 left.
evenin babblers!
hi evan> how are you?
I only have one flat screen in my place, in my son's room. All the rest are big, tube TVs. But we don't watch much TV so it doesn't matter. Most of what I watch, I watch on web stream through the computer.
hi evan
Hi Eva. Enjoying the monsoons?
hi red, hi lbd.
hiya molls. we made a break for it during the down-time and ran to Safeway for some ice cream and treats. :)
I did the same break run earlier. Beer and Chinese food.
mmmmm......i woulda liked some chinese takeout.
Oh I love Chinese, had Turke meatball sand spaghetti and basil pesto.
i wanted to get Ben + Jerry's new Late Night Snack flavor, but alas, the whole Ben + Jerry's section was picked over.
I made soup for lunch so I cut myself a break on cooking dinner.
instead, i brough home Haagen Dazs' Sweet Chai Latte, which is quite tasty!
I just tried Hannah Teeters Blonde Brownie. would have been perfect without the blonde brownie in it!!!
we just had chicken nuggets + tater tots for dinner...heh
I had to Google that Ben & Jerry's. POTATO CHIPS IN ICE CREAM????
that ice cream run was the only time i left the house today. and even THAT was a challenging decision...heh i went in my PJs. :)
i know, molly. doesnt it sound perfect??
wow that sound syum, but...hard to keep crisp!
they are coated in fudge, or something...they dont get soggy!
oh now, that does not sound good. I do not like chocolate very much.
I have yet to jump on the sweet & salty bandwagon. I like sweet after salty (as in Rasinettes after popcorn). But not together. Like my friend does. She puts her Raisinetted IN her popcorn.
and fireworks. strange.
whoooo hoooooo RED!!
they also have a new Red Velvet Cake flavor and something along the lines of Fluffernutter
Oh wow, the New England folks will devour the Fluffernutter stuff. That is big eats up that way.
i think its called Clusterfluff
fluffernutter? fluffy peanutbutter?
*Still trying to picture stylish Eva in Safeway in her PJs*
fluffernutter is marshmallow fluff
ugh. don't fond of marshmallows in any form
molly -- i actually swapped out my PJ pants. the ones i was wearing were too long + would drag along the wet ground, so i changed into my owl-print PJ pants. ;)
Well, technically, Fluffernutter is a marshmallow fluff, peanut butter and banana sandwich.
Eva, did you wear the orange wedding shoes with the owl pants?
no, i was sporting my grass-green chuck taylors. they matched my grass-green hoodie. :)
Green Chucks and owl pants. The Post's Style section photographer is going to be so sorry she missed that.
i also may have neglected to brush my hair or my teeth today...but hubby was kinda enough to "toussle" my locks for me... i *MAY* have looked minorly homeless. ;)
...and i think that one drove them away...
evening. swinging through to see if anybody needs clues
sorry jes, i think i frightened them all off...
heh. i don't think you're that scary, eva
i dunno, jes. i didnt brush my hair or teeth today, and i ventured to the grocery store in my PJs. im fancy. ;)
Nope, not driven away. Making popcorn for my son.
I have had the cluster fluff, I bough ti twice. It is good, but not as good as reeses ice cream.
that's pretty par for the course around here.
im eagerly awaiting the Late Night Snack.
if i ran away everytime i saw someone looking mussed in public, i'd never leave the house :)
My kids like the Reeses Klondike ice cream treats.
hubby also bought some choco tacos. i dont even remember the last time i had one of those... and we also got some drumsticks. (we may have gone shopping when we were hungry for sweets)
My weekend attire on rainy days like today is sweats and over size shirt and a ponytail. I do take pity on the general public and put some makeup on though.
*Wonders if Mr. and Mrs. Eva spent the afternoon rockin' the gange* : P
were i to actually go out for more than an ice cream run, i would have cleaned up. but i was arguing with myself about whether i even wanted to venture out for that!
LMAO. not i, molly. it is not my past-time of choice.
hi all, gonna babble for 15 minutes then fly
BDG is going to "Exterminate" this grid!
choco taco?
EX-TER-MIN-ATE!!!!//////
jes -- think of it as a taco shell (made out of waffle cone) filled with ice cream + the whole thing is dipped in chocolate
Choco taco ----> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choco_Tac o
<----Feels bad for Jes that she's never had a Choco Taco.
My go to ice cream treat these days are the mini Doves. Just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and only 60 calories.
molly, have you ever been to Breuster's? i think it is in Gaithersburg, near Lake Forest mall?
and my phantom of the day is crisis
i. wow. i had no idea that existed. bruce is also surprised by my lack of knowledge.
Never been Eva. Good ice cream?
Oh Gwen, you are so close to a word there.
i havent been myself, just recently heard of it. but my friend went up there, and said it is amazing!
upchic? LOLOL
No Gwen, with your phantom. You are only one letter off.
chinup???? grrrrr, not seeing it!
upchic does contain a valid word though...
yup, got that one. don't have anything close to crisis, though
Eva, I checked out the web site. It's Brusters, and it looks awesome. Also, you missed the boat. March 26th was come in your pajamas day.
heh, i know. i was unable to make it that day. alas, it is only once a year.
oh my goodness .... chocolate tacos!!!! heaven - but too far from Orlando to get there tonight
the cr6/24, gwen, is not quite a palindrome.
oooh, TY, got it!
(adding to my collection of goofy words)
most of the words are not too bad, that was a new one for me, and the sc5 and 6 are yiddish, which makes them difficult for me, since i persist in looking for english words...
Evening, all! I finished earlier but stopped in to say hi.
hiya sue, you uu!
Hi, gwen!
hi sue
Hi, Jes!
Hi Sue, feeling better?
Not a lot, Molly, so I am resting. Watched part of les miz, which was awesome.
Now watching House and trying to convince my partner that I need dinner :-)
house!!!
trying to convince them that you need dinner, or that they should make it for you?
Trying to convince him to make it, which he just set off to do. Spaghetti, I hear.
yay! spagetti! :)
mmmmm
Gluten free of course, but he puts lots of tasty things in the sauce.
gluten-free spaghetti? is that as bad as 2% milk?
mmm. brown rice (with rice bran) pasta... It's yummy!
hey all
<---- Loves the idea that Sue is being pampered.
They make some pretty good rice spaghetti now, gwen
i got taco salad for dinner, courtesy of bruce :)
stidkid # 2 is making me popcorn... *grin*
Hi, stid!
never had no pasta made outta rice, but i like rice and pasta, so i guess i would like that
are tortilla chips gluten free?
Popcorn and tacos salad both sound good too
hi stid, gwen, UU, Jes
tinkyada is the rice pasta brain sold by the local co-op, but there are a couple other nice brands too. Corn pasta never tastes right to me, so we just don't even try that any more
hey LBD
jes, if they don't say gluten free you can't be sure.
They can be, Jes, but we have to read the labels carefully
i bet corn pasta is too goopy-gloppy
He is sensitive to even trace amounts of gluten.
hmm. well you are welcome to some taco salad, but he may want to skip the chips then ;)
it is for me, gwen, doesn't seem to matter how carefully I watch the time.
The rice pasta has a pretty good texture.
Stidkid is sweet to be making his Mom some popcorn.
oh, stid, how's the kid's graduation prospects?
can you eat soba noodles?
ponder rice chex and corn chex. i prefer rice chex over corn chex 1,000,000 to one, because rice chex doesn't get all goopy
stidkid did, however, make the regulation "put-out adolescent" face, so he didn't actually go against the teenager code
thus i infer that rice pasta would be superior to corn pasta
That's in the kid contract Stid.
If they are pure bucket then yes, lbd, but I think most of them aegis not.
Drat spell check.
Sue, are you speaking words of English?
no idea on the kid's graduation jes -- he re-read the directions and resubmitted (again). BUT he didn't have a more experienced person look it over, and I don't even know if it was done in time
(on another subject) i thought i saw your husband drive by the other day, but the vanity plate said stig dad, not stid dad
rofl gwen! that's too funny!
Buckwheat. And are not. Don't know where the aegis came from.
I am on my fancy new Android phone and it is thinking too hard.
Maybe you are typing in tongues Sue. : P
would that be thumbs, molly?
And here I thought I was using my finger
aegis is english, but with latin holes in it
NBT finally!!!!
go gwen go!
Yay gwen!
go gwen!
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
Lol, jes!
jes! that's brilliant!
I still have a problem with "tomato is a fruit". If something that contains seeds is a fruit, then beans, cucumbers and pumpkins are also fruits.
i concur!! LOL
And green peppers.
Anyway I am going crosseyed looking at this little screen and am going to sign off. See you all later!
later sue!
bye, UU
UNO
bye bye sue
go gwen!
! * F * I * R * E * W * O * R * D * S * !
peppers ARE fruit, molly. pumkins are not, because they are gourds.
yay gwen!
bye, sue, have a good night
uh oh, sue has to go to the penalty box!! LOL
YAY gwen!
What about cucumbers and beans?
cucumbers, despite not having a heavy rind, are also gourds.
what kind of beans do you mean? green beans?
beans do not belong in salad. or soup. or anything i am going to eat. (!)
i concur, gwen!
Yes, green beans. They have seeds in them.
i dunno. i'll have to look it up.
It's okay Jes. In my world, tomatoes, green beans, peppers and cucumbers are all vegetables. Seeds or no seeds.
well, wiki says they are fruits..."the unripe fruit of any kind of bean, including the yardlong bean, the hyacinth bean, the winged bean, and especially the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), whose pods are also usually called string beans in the northeastern United States, but can also be called snap beans."
and no GD chili powder either. bleeeeeeeccchhh!!
human invent silly categories then argue about what goes in which category. seriously, the tomato doesn't care if you call it a fruit
i dunno if wiki is the best place to get botanical info, but it was convenient :)
and i'm not putting green beans in fruit salad either!
nature doesn't care if you call a gourd a fruit either
And then there are bananas, with no seeds in them, that are called fruit. Go figure.
bananas have seeds, they're just very small. i think. don't they?
bananas *do* have seeds in them. except seedless bananas of course, which are a product of artificial selection
seedless grapes are still grapes and they're still fruit
talking of artifical categories, i have invented a season, since we only have four and we need five. the new one is called Thaw and it lasts about 2 months between winter and spring
"In cultivated varieties, the seeds are diminished nearly to non-existence; their remnants are tiny black specks in the interior of the fruit. "
Shame. All those poor people who think they are growing a vegetable gardens, when really they are growing fruit gardens.
heheh
then we can argue over what is an herb and what is a spice. (NOOOOO!!!!!) LOL
now i know how to get out of eating beans though... "eat your vegetables!" "but ma, that's a FRUIT"
*snicker*
It is well known that putting a bit of sugar on tomato brings out the flavour. Therefore, a tomato IS a fruit. LOL
Hi folks.
jes - what'a wrong with eating beans, unless you are allergic to them (as my daughter is)? I love my runner beans, freshly picked and cooked.
kidney beans of all colours are really nice, too.
i dislike the taste
you're welcome to them if you like them.
What, of all types of bean?
pretty much, yeah
weirdly, i rather like lentils though.
LOL
se7 clue anybody?
What vegetables do you like, Jess?
se + ri5/12
silk gum, dan or se + deadly poison.
tx une that makes firewords here
congrats, dan!!
Well done, Dan!
whooo hooooo DAN!!
corn, potato (though people will argue if that's a veg)
howdy, dawg :-)
most of the leafy greens, though not terribly fond of spinach.
broccoli in some circumstances--boiled and soggy is NOT one of those circumstances
carrots, how did i forget carrots?!
fresh green peas--but really, fresh/raw is the only way to go with green peas
was recently introduced to cauliflower chopped fine and fried with couscous, that was pretty good.
sweet potatoes, turnips.. heh. i guess i like root veggies :)
Jes -I wonder if you have been wrong-footed by over-boiled, soggy vegetables in yur childhood?
Excuse the short absences from here. I am playing a word game elesewhere with Scrabbler Periwinkle.
no, i have made an effort recently to re-try a lot of things i disliked as a kid. green beans, for instance--the last time i had them was less than a month ago, lightly steamed, with butter and lemon juice, and if THAT doesn't make me like them, i am just not going to like them
Well, maybenot, Jes, but lemon isn't the best thing to de-iron the taste of beans.
the whole bit where i'll eat broccoli and cauliflower is pretty recent, actually. as a kid, i was pretty determinedly a corn, mashed potatoes, and raw carrots only veggie eater
Speaking of fresh peas, I do hope the mouse population in my garden isn't going to eat all the peas before we can harvest them. I am considering cementing our cat's feet into the pea-growing pot. Well, he likes to catch and eat mice, mice like to eat peas, and I need the cat to be on 24-hour duty. LOL
The last thing I made an effort to try again, a food I had hated as a child, was oxtail soup. Guess what? I still hate it.
*cats, not cat's!
really? bruce made oxtail last winter and it was delicious.
Yes, can't stand it.
eh. more for me :)

Hello to all ch 4/7s and ch 5/14s! I am done with grid so I will give you some hi4/5s with a story of clues to help you hu 4/6 for words. So last week my computer starting wigging out.
