*Thumbs nose at Enable* I guess no one has every been touchy feely with it. : P
Valium is an all-natural chemical. In fact, trace amounts can be found in wheat and potatoes.
I knew I loved potatoes and wheat bread!
LOL! I'm with you Molly!
And I just sent myself to the PB. Will rustle up some breakfast in there.
note to self...eat more wheat bread
Molly, please make wheat germ and hash browns!
I love hash browns, hello everyone
Are the Z words really obscure or do I just need more coffee?
I think we'll cut right to the chase and have Mimosas. Although I've always said that the orange juice pollutes the champagne.
Somewhat obscure
just champagne for me
what did you say Molly to get into the pb?
I prefer Poinsettas...made with cranberry juice and a dash of Grand Marnier...

**damn boss**
silly boss, later river
morning, all!
Hi sue
hi, annie!
sue, How is your Dad and your stepmom?
Oh let's be fair. Damn all bosses! (Present company excluded of course).
igh..crossy cannot wake up...
of course! Hi Judi
a boss(i am one) is often worse off than the average employee.we just buy a business to secure a job for ourselves at minimum wage lol
crossy, you should talk to lickety about that... I have much to tell you
go to www.stop-davis.com amazing what this 'boss' is doing
Hi, annie, I am on the phone with my dad right now and he is fine :-)
lookin mrp
good news! uusue
drat, phone
btw crossy, this 'crook' owes us $50K... we are down to bare bones... I don't believe that he should be in business if he has not cashflow.
nbt
on ya sue!
finished reading mrp.....
btw, crossy, just installed my new Lexmark printer :-)
my phantom: tornado
Judi...LOVE your icon
Work with that a little Mr. President and you'll get a word.
Ty. Can't miss with the classics.
crossy, he keeps on keeping on with this 'man'
i had an employer like that,he owed me 6,000 dollars at time of court date,he was ordered to pay inc my court costs to the tune of $11,000.00 ,he declared bankruptcy and we went on the bankruptcy list, the ontario govt was at the top of the list, every untility was numbers 2 to about 25,i am about 40 on the list to be paid.court late charges pile up over the years,he now owes me as of last year over one hundred thousand including penaltys,he skips the country and goes back to his native india where he cannot be found...i still get no money..this is justice
i feel your pain mrp..i have been there
some people believe love can conquer anything, even death... but I don't want to go home right now....all I can taste is this moment. I don't want to cost lickety his live for this 'man'... crook
mrp..go home,i am sure you are his rock like my victoria is mine and that he is your staff to lean on in tough times, stay firm, keep love and you will get through..i have been through what i just typed,3 cancers, hysterectomy for the wife, family death..on and on.give your strength to each other because 2 are stronger than one
same is happening here crossy... but it is difficult when one doesn't talk to the other out of shame, fear, defeat, embarassment, failure?? Hard to swallow that massive pill I guess
a man can be ten times what he would otherwise be with a good woman beside him..and talk.be there to listen if he wished to talk.share encouragements.i was so ill with my chemo i could not even get up off the cough to speak or talk, but i felt m wifes presence there and gathered strength just from her aura and being there
couch
he is hamed,as i am,it is pride and i felt less of a man,a failure unable to provide for my family while my wife worked and shouldered all the burdens and my illness, but she was strong..and you are strong i know it..she nursed me through my cancer and when the time was right and i became able,i nursed her through her hysterectomy one month later
shamed
crossy, he kept things from me... the trust is the main issue... I am now going through f***ing crap medically and it took away a serious breach of my loyalty and devotion to keeping us communicating.... hell, life can throw you a nasty curve ball at time and hit you where it hurts the most
i am so sorry mrp:((
yeah, not as sorry as I am! :((
i try to tell my mrs everything, when i am good, bad in pain,finances.. we talk about everything
if he withheld due to decit it can be bad,but if it was shame or pride,or not wanting you to worry....
i hope we are the only persons in this conversation... would be embarassed otherwise... thank you for being so understanding. being through what you have been through gives me insight and helps so much **hugs**
he didn't want me to worry, and his boss was deceiving him
i am sorry mrp..these are private things and i should not ask you to air it here (((MRP)))
you have read the website... he is doing that to my husband now and convincing him it is all just vindictive behaviour
if you wish to just talk or vent you can mail me at p.a.melbourne@gmail.com
crossy, talking to you has settled my nerves... thank you so much!!
do you have babble expert??
do not use it much but yes
sometimes just talking and knowing that others have been through the same can help
well, I will email you soon... do a canvas of what is happening and what is perhaps going to happen.
luv you for listening and your blessed advice
you are quite welcome and do not fear to vent at me or any other babbler in here i am sure i and others are here for you
**hugs** to you crossy!!
no fault of lickety..i just do not use expert till i get to 75% and that does not happen often lol
good on you crossy! Lickety built expert for me so that i wouldn't slap my computer so much!! LOL!!
I did not want to interrupt your conversation....mrp, you know you can always talk/vent/whatever you need to do...we are here to help...you are on FB with me...feel free to message me if you want
see? you have lots of friends here mrp:))
Big shoulders here....
thank you so much river!! I have given out a lot of info just now... and appreciate the luv!!
(((mrp))) lots of love with babble friends...I have needed it as well
I guess my lowest point was finding out in the same day that i had cancer, a dangerous stalker, and only $44 left in the bank
it tends to put one in the pit of hell... and not want to crawl out in fear of hurting others (especially my children)
sounds like you have hit bottom...no where else to go but up ....
boss is back...sorry must go again...be strong mrp
and that is exactly what was happening to lickety ,he was being decieved at work, the boss was sugar coating things he fell for it and was shamed he did not want to crawl out and hurt his loved ones
stay strong for each other,do not let adversity put a wall between and wrestle those sharks together with a laugh and a can of fosters in each hand
(only aussie beer i could think of) lol
{{{{{{{{{{{mrp}}}}}}}}}}} you know you can always vent to me too :-) love ya, girl! hang in there!!!!!!!!
hey, I have found out that I have amazing friends, and pissed off the so called 'friends' that were damaging me... it was a very precarious situation, but I got rid of these so called 'friends' who can effect my life in my neighbourhood greatly. I decided not to be scared of them, but confront them and rid them from my life... it took a huge load off my shoulders and I am not looking back. Unfortunately, they bitched back and I found out stuff I didn't 'need' to know.
thanks sue! **hugs**
get rid of the baggage good for you mrp! and ignore the scuttlebutt
wife and i live only for each other and our son,we do not care what others think about how we live what we eat or wear we ignore all gossip,if someone does not care for what we are then to hell with them!
I found that out too when I divorced my second husband, who is a sociopath (not dangerous but has no concept of trust or truth) - some people I thought were friends believed the things he was saying about me, and I didn't need them in my life - the people who really knew me knew what was true
crossy, the baggage I dumped was a scary mole! of course she has rubbished me, but just showing her colours.
too right crossy... to hell with them!
and you will find the same, mrp - the people who really know you will know what is true {{{{{{{{{{mrp}}}}}}}}}
sue, am finding my real friends through all this... amazed by how close they really are to me
anyway, just got off the phone with my dad, he is doing really well! must off to shower now, bbs!!
I was blind to how much they cared for me... now I am ashamed for not seeing it and making amends for it by taking all my energy and time to get back on track with them. It has been wonderful
sue, glad dad is doing well! see you soon hun **hugs**
and crossy! thank you again!! **hugs**
will be back soon,,, have to put the darlings to bed :)) see you soon

Pretty icon Sue.

naan? puri? poppadum?

Must be some Indian bread I've never heard of.
There is no double A
gee, that one always reminds me of pot roast, ruby!
(the ro one, that is)
the only one I really saw was in Princeton in '68 and we had a priest on hand (another resident/scholar) and he said a prayer
like the Japanese gate, but backwards
Wasn't that one a partial, ruby? it was in northern NJ where I was, I think (and it was cloudy), if it's the one I'm thinking of
L's licked!
And flat bread is flat bread, I don't care what you call it. Give me the leavened kind any day.

I have to go make dinner for Mr. Grumpy and the pups
sounds like a doo wop group
brb, need more coffee
ruby, could it have been 1970? there wasn't one in NJ in 1968...
I was in MA for that one and missed the line of totality. bummer again. A friend of mine who was majoring in astronomy drove to Nova Scotia to see it...
I see a total eclipse everyday.. when I sleep it is total darkness..
Ladies and Gentlemen! Please give it up for Mr. Grumpy And The Pups!!!
Hi from St. Petersburg
hi, bichon!!!!!!
Is St Petersburg as lovely as all my friends tell me?
The last stope. We're here through the weekend and it's so exciting
*stop. Why is there no flag for Russia :-(
It's even lovlier sue
I have uploaded the Russian flag as my icon
hi bichom
Hi TO
hi, bichon and UU
Has my icon changed from the dog to the Russian flag?
I see the flag Bich
Great, I didn't see it from here
Time for dinner
I see the flag!!! and it sounds like you are having a wonderful time!!!
Sue there is an article on Yahoo about tasty gluten free food, did you see it?
not yet, molly, but I will look for it! I get a lot of gluten-free news feeds on my facebook, too.
I was wondering how "tasty" that pizza really is.
we have gotten a couple of different brands of gluten free pizza, and Frank really likes them (I don't eat them because they are expensive and I don't need them)
The one they mention in the article is Isabelle's. And I learned something, I didn't know they made flour from garbonzo and fava beans. That's cool.
that's too hummus.. er I mean much
e
I have actually grown to like hummus. Something I thought I would never acquire a taste for. Maybe it's all that garlic and hot sauce I put in it.
don't know if we've tried that one, molly; I know we've tried Glutino and a local bakery (in Rock Island)
it's good hormonally too
What? You mean like oysters?
anyway, time for me to get to work. bbl!
later, UU
gee, i though i as only seeing to8 because of recent events. seems even babblnia is not exepmt from to8 activity
yeah, i found that ironic too, TO
i think this grid was more difficult than yesterday's. but...finito, at last!
as5?
as + ***k Tracy
Neither Tom nor Hary, but the guy in between.
or as + ***tionary, word finder
thank you both
anyone have either of the ar9's?
ar9 starts out like the blood vessel first 5 letters, + vowel + spanish cheer
da7?
thanks dawger!
da + the last five letters of the last clue i gave
thanks again
new one!
yeah, there are some new ones in the grid today
I'm dragging through this one
is the last en5 a common word?
for college it is
hmmm looking..
en 5 to sign up
Good morning/afternoon all. If you en6/18 in the army, you en5/10 for college.
hi haz
thanks - I thought that word had another letter at the end
Hello, ruru.
how is old england holding up?
I don't know, I don't live in England.
But I'm sure it's fine.
ireland?
or Scotland
Northern Ireland.
...after those hats in the wedding.. I wouldn't live in England either
Oh, lots of them were fine, there were a few stinkers, but the majority were grand.
hi again, all!
missing a s
dang it
is it summer in ireland yet.. not here
We have sunshine today after a month of rain. Hopefully we'll get some summr after all.
oh jeez, 90s here for the last week and for at least another week -- and with high humidity!
yesterday and today are the most glorious days - high 70's and blue skies - had the hot and high humidity earlier so this is a wonderful change
Heat and humidity must be draining.
puzzling over first 5 letters of blood vessel. Gorgeous day here- breezy, sunny and dry.
sounds great, teach!
the cicadas like the humidity
It's a main one Kap, that leads to and from the heart
very draining, haz -- this morning after boxing, loading, and unloading a carload of donated food, I was soaking wet!!
yeah, but I don't see it in the grid/
ok, back to the French Open *poof*
Bye, Une.
It's not. The first five letters of it start the two 9 words.
TR7?
I was looking at the wrong t.
# 1 that is
Sounds like a purple flower
tr7 - if it began with v, it would lead you to a pretty purple flower.
thank you
two more t's

You want stats?
yes please :)
japanese flip flops, hursh
All zo - 7,4,5,5
evening all - japanese flip flops?
flip flops=open toes slipper/shoes...beach footwear
zo4/9 - zo plus first letters of the Lionheart King.
We might as well throw in some history.
history is always good
unless you had to sit through a long boring stentorous monologue from mr. granfuer
thanks all
You're welcome, Kazzer.
A good history teacher is worth his/her weight in gold.
ditto for math teachers!
I had a good maths teacher but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
how about physics teachers? lol
gotta understand math to understand the physics. had way too many subpar math teachers...coaches that had to teach a classroom class...
stats (not clue) on the 10?
an10/84
an10/84
an10.84
ahh, too many possibilities.
lbd, I am team-teaching physics 1 and calculus 1 with a math professor this fall - I am really looking forward to it as coordinating the classes will be very important to the students (it would be ideal if they took calculus 1 first but a lot of them take the courses at the same time)
UU, that sounds like fun and a lot of work to coordinate the two subjects. but i bet the students will learn a lot from seeing how the two relate
oooh- I got the 10. Quite a word. Can't use it in a sentence. Highly suspicious.
hi all
Hello, TO.
hi TO
Haille Selassie was named for Highly Suspicious.- little known fact.
hi haz! hi again dawg!
hat letter does the 20 begin with?
i used to cringe when i'd get prospective education majors in my office who'd complain about having to take math..."what do i need math for, i'm going to teach-----"
there's a 20?
The 10 begins with an
I am a math idiot.
<---- Sits in the math idiot corner with Kap
one of the changes I would like to see is for elementary education majors to take at least one science class - in IL they have to take one course about how to teach science but no course with any actual science content
I can add, multiply, subtract and divide. Beyond that my eyes glaze over.
more than likely you feel that way because you were taught by someone who was also a math idiot.
my point exactly, lbd!
I can't do long division, or subtract numbers from numbers that have too many zeroes in them.
the elementary teachers here have to take basic science as part of their core requirements, as well as science for elem teachers.
Well, the other kids seemed to learn math in the same classes I was in...
ty, does it prefix another grid word?
New Math. Remember New Math? Remember Tom Lehrer?
No, I think there has to be a recognition that some people just don't get maths. It's not interesting to them, it's not relevant to them and it's just a huge turn-off to be told 'it was your teacher's fault'. My teachers were good teachers, I just had no aptitude for the subject.
they probably had someone who gave them confidence to do the math...a tutor, family member...
Oh yes Haz, I can relate to the eyes glazing over. Especially when someone mentions something like binomial expansion.
i remember tom lehrer
I repeat- I am a math idiot. I could probably have learned it better if there weren't so many numbers.
an10 is an advert for an8/40 - begins with latin before.
And what is Pi even FOR?
eating
that is true too, Haz. I'm dyscalculic. when i'm frustrated, tired or otherwise not "fresh" the numbers are just squiggles
actually i heard of a more recent teacher who has developed methods whereby any child can learn math - he is having great success.
Ding!! TO has discovered the meaning of pi!!!
i had long been convinced that some people just had no aptitude, from tutoring students myself, but after i heard about this my belief was shaken
Fibonacci sequences are sort of cool. What a life he must have had, counting seeds and leaf veins and butterfly patterns. That's what they did before the internet.
but i've learned that math can be relevent and even fun! of course it helps to have a lot of math buddies who know how to explain things so i don't have to be stephen hawking to relate
i use math and i no struggle to remember, thought of taking again
My daughter LOVES math.
I would rather re-learn Spanish than ever deal with my math anxiety again. Spanish is real.
*sigh* in babble one can be touchy, but not feely.
i bet she has a very engaging math teacher
The something of an equilateral triangle equals half the sum of the parallel sides times the perpendicular height.
lol, TO, i tried that one too
haveno math anxiety, it just bored me
Who is she engaged to?
I only remember that because I had to write it out 100 times for not paying attention in class. 40 years on...
and one cannot behave in a cadly fashion either
Math assumes an orderly universe.
You can, TO, but you wouldn't get points for it.
sa5/16.
i wager not in real life either, kap.
I think applications are crucial - many students won't see the point of learning something that doesn't seem at all useful, but if you can show them how they can use it they become much more interested. (I try to do this with physics)
Tell me how to use pi.
first sa5.10 is not happily
And what unreal numbers are.
sa5/16 - sa plus an insulting term
with ice cream, Kap
OK OK. No one knows the use of pi.
as i tell my math buds, i'll give them unreal answers if they insist on using unreal numbers
i bet UU can tell you the use of PI.
well, you can use pi if you want to translate men's hat measurements into something you can actually measure (the circumference of your head)
what is an unreal number? What qualifies some numbers as more real than others?
are you thinking of imaginary numbers? (don't know any unreal numbers)
I can see all those cowboys queuing up to get their bespoke stetsons using pi.
Yah, Sue, just the other day I was trying to translate a man's hat mmeasurement...
I want a pie hat!!!!
irrational numberrs?
i was just going to correct myself with saying imaginary not unreal
nyahhhh.
That won't mean a lot to anybody who wasn't on yesterday when I was SHOCKED to find out that some Americans don't know that cowboys wear stetsons.
like dividing by zero?
Aren't there real numbers?
Irrational numbers are numbers that can't be written as ratios of integers.
Really Haz, I thought that was a common knowledge term. I guess ten gallon is the more widely known.
If we keep going, uu will soon be speaking in an entirely new language.
"They put castanets on/and step on their Stetson"
fireworks here yahhh
Oh cool. I hope she says Shazbot.
Maybe they were just pretending not to know.
There are indeed real numbers. Real numbers include irrational numbers, and include pretty much any number you can think of.
and yay, vanilla!!!
we could easily craft ne words from this grid.
Well, an imaginary number involves the square root of negative 1
you can think of the real numbers as lying along a line.
i was surprised that many didn't know about stetson either. those of use who cut our teeth on John Wayne would know all about stetson!
Irrational- that's what I meant. I can't write ANY number as a ratio of an integer.
whoooo hoooooo Vanilla!!
Imaginary numbers you can think of as being perpendicular to real numbers - origami is right, they are all multiples of the square root of -1.
Cutting teeth on John Wayne-ewww. I preferred a frozen bagel.
It shook me to the core, lb.
ty a bit easier than yesterday
wow.
Complex numbers have both real and imaginary parts, and can be thought of as describing a position on a surface (although that's not what they are actually used for)
ok time to rustle up lunch and get ready for doctor.
we use imaginary and complex numbers in physics a lot.
later, TO!
See you again, TO.
bye, TO
Physicists are brilliant.
anyway, pi is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, and is also used in calculating the area of a circle
*waves*
so if you were a farmer with one of those water-spraying lines, and wanted to know how much acreage you could water with it, the number pi would come into the calculation (or I suppose there are tables where you could look it up :-)
My son is a physicist too, UU. I love talking with him and having him explain things to me. He's really good at breaking things down to the basics without dummying down the subject
complex numbers are useful in circuit analysis for alternating current (like what comes out of the wall, as opposed to the direct current that comes out of a battery)
the current goes up and down in these circuits but it doesn't go up and down at the same time in all parts of the circuit; it turns out to be handy to use complex numbers (or equations, really) to describe how the current is changing in different parts of the circuit.
hard grid today.
before i go - does anyone else here play the word game of the day at webster.com? it is my fav today but it is hard!
although if all you want to do is plug in your computer and have it work you probably don't care about the exact details; somebody had to understand it to make it work in the first place, though!
I don't, TO.
ooh, let me check that out, TO!
i spelled 6 words and missed the seventh! http://www.merriam-webster.com/game/be e-cubed/?&t=1307121293
didn't know about it TO but might check it out if i have time
It's harder than yesterday's.
must go for now, gotta make lunch for hubz
Bye, lb.
i have 84 left but am now off to a BBQ trying to avoid the incipent wasp nest in the front garden
did you play, haz?
No, sorry, I meant yesterday's grid. I'm looking at the merriam thing now.
nasty wasps...
and I missed the 7th word also, oh well
i misssed the first word on the third tier
which was yours, uu?
I got two words on the third tier but missed the third one
i like beespelled and dictioary devil
I'll have a go later, husband has arrived home so I'd better look as though I'm doing something useful!
contumelious, I think it was (not a word I know)
that was the one i missed!
but it only has one set of words for the day...
they were difficult this time
...so I am back trying to find words in this grid, sigh
yes, there is a new game every day not the same one though
bye haz and all *poof*
bye, TO!
<--- has finally decided on a text for her junior-level astronomy course this fall
la 7/28??
help please with the first te5,10 - just can't get it!
<----Loves our Sue but has understood very little of what she's said in the past ten minutes. : D
te + _ _ and behold and another vowel
huh, sounds Greek, sammy
thank you!!
He was bad, bad te5 Brown, the baddest man in the whole damn town
that is because sammy gave the clue sue
that's ok, molly, I might be able to be clearer about these things but would need to think about how to do it very briefly :-)
isn t that french for king?
french for king = roi
any help for fe 4,7, the second one
sometimes spelled roy in old french
sorry, inge, that was in no way a hint for the second fe4/7 (which I do not have)
at the end of your legs
but now I do. Duh. Thanks, kateq!
yw
MY NEW TABLET COMPUTER IS HERE!!..crossy does his happy dance...... this is the one....
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pa d_Transformer_TF101/
crossy does another happy dance....
yay for crossy and his new tablet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will be able to babble anywhere;)
and I installed my new printer today, crossy, looks good so far!!!
you get the one we talked about sue?
Thanks. I need a break, since I missed the ovjbiosu
I did, crossy!
lol, inge, if I took a break every time I missed an obvious word I would never finish a grid!
io 6/18 ??
io + opposite of dark (short spelling)
thanks kate
I'm done--any other clues before I'm off?
have a great day, everyone
bye, kate!
you will love it sue..the black cartridge is 7 dollars and the colour 28..not like some out there charging 25 per replacement
17*
ah, excellent, crossy!
125*
my one is going on me;(
do you know if it will take 3rd party or refilled cartridges? (my HP would not)
they are so inexpensive to be honest i have never messed with refills
refilled cartridges*
its cartridges averaged about $25 each, a little less for B/W and a little more for color
i just get the brand name ones and save the worry
well, we'll see. I don't usually print vast amounts of paper at home anyway (all my work stuff I print out at work, pretty much)
i use one of each per month on average so why use knock offs?
sounds like about what I use.
the fax part seems quite easy to use - my old one couldn't be convinced not to answer the phone
back again after a new drama.
hi again, ruby, what drama?
my husband just fell in the driveway, slipped on sunflower seed shells that he feeds the birds.
oh, no! Is he ok?
What a mess! Fortunately, I'm not squeamish, but he's terrible cut up on both hands, elbow and leg and has a goose egg on his head
oh, dear! Falling in the driveway is how my dad broke his leg so when I read that my heart really fell!!
and now before i head to work,i give you crossy,s tidbit of the day!!...
crossy, you know I live for your tidbits...
Fortunately, I still had supplies left from the dog bite, so I was able to dress the wounds before going to the drugstore.
Although better known for its food items, Sara Lee introduced the Wonderbra in 1994.
that recently? who knew??
he is very lucky not to have broken any bones
he sure is, ruby! how scary!!
tc everyone and happy babbling...poink!
at least he was able to pick himself up and get into the house.
I know he's been ill, ruby, although I don't remember exactly with what; is this related, do you think, or just bad luck?
he's getting old and it's just one thing after another
how old was your dad when he fell and broke his leg?
oh, dear :-(
89, ruby
he's almost 86
ar 0/54 ??.. i have one that has to do with large veins
9/54 that is
my dad's doctors kept asking him how he fell, to make sure there wasn't some underlying balance problem, but there wasn't - he just slipped on the ice during a really nasty winter
Ruby, sorry to hear about your husband's fall. You are a good nurse.
there are two 9/54's mom, endings are just different
never mind.. got it
I have two that both have to do with blood vessels, sammy, one is actually a small vessel and the other is an infection
The other ending means inflammation
thank you, molly. I watched the nurse dress his dog bites, so I knew what to do
dog bites?
30 july, he was attacked by a beauceron which put him in the hospital
holy cow, he's had a time of it, hasn't he???
and he had pneumonia this past January
getting old is no fun for him.
he is lucky to be alive
I have decided that ar 9/54 is the way Lawrence Welk would pronounce the joint disease. : D
good night
sorry he is having such a hard time, ruby!!!! {{{{{{{{{ruby}}}}}}}}}}}} and {{{{{{{{{{{mr ruby}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
night, ruby!
ty for the smile, molly, I can always count on you!
thank you sue
putting nurse hat back on.....
Great clue for the 9/54. Thanks Molly
Your welcome wjb. It came to me in a moment of silliness. I have quite a few of those.
hi, wjb! I see you own a mystery bookstore - what fun!!!
*Wonders what Sue is seeing that I am not seeing*
it is in her profile. :)
<---- would love to own a mystery bookstore (although I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to sell any of the books)
hints for the top-row i?
NM, found it! finally NBT... now just need an 8 and the 10 for NBS...
Must be me, I'm not seeing a profile picture.
dont need a profile picture to get to a profile. just click on the little person.
Okay, I'm done. Learned my something new today.
hah. i think i said something similar yesterday morning...
Hi, folks--i could use hellp on last couple --anyone have la 7/28?
old fashioned hand held light
is that clue for the la, west? if so, i don't get it
something that might light up your campsite, foam
it is think of someone walking through the dark carrying a light
made by Coleman?
Coleman would do it
wasn't thinking modern day camping lol
aargh! don't believe i didn't see that
and plural
but still don't get your clue, west
did you get sue's clue?
and thank you, uusue!
put a couple of commas in it, foam: old fashioned, hand held, light
how about st 7/28?
oh dear sorry about the lack of punctuation
the little thing that you use in your coffee to make sure the sugar and cream are mixed in
st 7/28 - used in your coffee cup
actually, now that i see it, i see it--i actually misread west's clue as old-fashioned hand held TIGHT
aargh again! thank you, wyteach
lol that explains it
monkeyed so many weirdos, and at the end i miss perfectly good words!
happens to me daily, foam! :-)
can i return the favor for anyone?
I didn't have that one until you asked for a clue
ty for saying so, uu--don't feel quite so dim now!
I'm not even half way, foam...
are you done foam?
yes, sparkles galore
yay, foam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
Then Yay Foam !!
stats for the 10 please
congrats foam
I think teef should be a word; my son used to say it all the time when he was losing his baby ones :-)
an 10 / 84
an 10/48 -- are you going listless, west?
an10/84
thanks
got it and the 8 too !!
yay, west!
yes, the 8 is kinda necessary there...
not listing yet so stats are helpful..
so everyone is set?
ok, i'm off to the garden to plant another foamflower--again, ty for the help!
set here for now, may come find you later
:)
bye and happy planting
good evening all
hello sprite
hi west :)
nice and quiet?
Apart from the neighbours, it is :) And with you?
hi sprite, west, foam et al!
hi Aloy :)
hi aloy
it's nice here but daughter #1 is coming for a visit with bad news
oh so sorry to hear that. She needs your support and love?
Oh no westford, what's wrong?
she told us at the beginning of the week that she needed to talk to us and I finally got her to give us a hint..she and her husband of 24 years are splitting up
ohh, so sorry
that is so awful :( Hard on all of you.
Wow, that is sad news. Good that she can turn to her parents at a time like this.
she said it's good for her but I know that she's sad
No way to end a relationship of that length of time without some sadness.
she'll be okay she has 2 daughters in their early 20's and support from her sisters and brother
that's true Molly all we can do is be there for her
she is lucky to have you
thanks sprite we're lucky to have her too
Glad to hear she has a good support circle.
does she live far away, west?
she's an hour away aloy so not far
are you close to her husband?
good.. am glad
she's very close to his family I think they will be there for her too
not really sprite he has always kept to himself but we still love him like a son
hi sprite and aloy!
hi uusue :)
west, so sorry to hear about your daughter! That is always tough.
hi there uusue2!
thanks sue I hope they'll be all right both of them
when my daughter split from her husband, he wrote the most beautiful letter to us.. telling us we were more his "family" than his birth one.. brought tears to my eyes
divorces are always so complicated. I hope everybody comes through this one as whole as possible.
I hope so too!!!! (have been through several divorces myself and am now dealing with my father's)
how nice aloy
that is special, Aloy
Aloy, that was very sweet of him.
yes, it was.. so we wrote back, encouraging him to keep in touch and to come visit
not the first kid to get divorced.daughter #3 was married for a very short time and we're still close to her first husband
and here we are going on 46 years
good for you, west!!!!!!!!!!
congrats, west and Mr. West
:D west :D
he's the best that's for sure..
<--- just agreed to be on a student's masters thesis committee - this is good, I can put it on my faculty service report :-)
nice going, uusue
wahoo for feathers in your cap, sue
that's a lot of work for you sue
but very rewarding
I'm not directing the thesis, just being on the committee, so it's not that much work - read the thing, suggest corrections, take part in the defense...
you really do influence the future of the student.. my advisor helped me so much
3!
I'm so angry with the founder of PayPal. (wish I could remember his name)
any1 have a clue for or5/10?
go Harry, go!
gj HH
hello HH
oops got it :)
a type of root, ro + the sun also **ses
or that is.. lol
trying to convince kids that higher education is not that necessary
ty aloy :)
how about re6/18?
yw (-:
thanks Aloy
oops, just read my clue and made a booboo, but you two got it so OK !
thanks for the or aloy always miss that one
all we need is a pointer, lol

woohoo
ty aloy :)
Yay HH !!
yay for Harry, wd !!!
gratz HH
tyty
carpool coming - have a good wknd every1!
I'm gone. Thank you all for your empathy and encouraging words
ty too Harry as you helped me find the ra6
oh right, west, I see. Stupid remark on his part. Just because a few geniuses have been successful without college doesn't mean it's a good idea for everyone.
bye, west!
and yay, harry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bye, west.. hugs to you and yours
*poof*
you are in today's grid, Aloy!
bye west, all the best *hug*
omigosh, I didn't see it, sprite! LOL
:)
ok, I have finally decided on a text for my astronomy course for the fall, so I need to go turn in the book order forms. bbs.
you were in yesterday's grid!
oh really? What a shame I didn't play :(
we are officially "gridders" (-:
hehehe YAY!
ttfn, sue
bye uusue, have a good one
peri is often a gridder
yes indeed. As is da4
ah yes
am happy to have my "sun" back.. it was on the desk top and I couldn't find it on my laptop.. glad I saved it
it is a pretty sun
I like your flower.. wonderful for this season
mutual admiration society, lol
:) thanks! It is good luck and sunny bloom for Katie and Stidmama
a special reason they need luck? I'll shine on them too
yesterday was stiddie's BD and today is Katie's
oh and I missed it.. :-( Hope they had wonderful b-days
ok, I am back! Book orders are in!!
so do I. I am not exactly loyal to playing every day either. Wb uusue and wtg.
wtg, sue
today would have been my brother's 56th birthday...he died in 1982, fell off a cliff. It is hard to think of him as anything but a 20-something (or a little kid)!
*hugs uusue*
>>> hugs too.. how wrenching for your family
I called my dad this morning but we didn't talk about it
but we did have a nice talk otherwise (and we talked about my brother, and my mom, and my sister, quite a bit while I was with him earlier this year)
does he live far from you sue?
aw Aloy, my little dog is in there with you.
in NJ, and I am in IL, so we don't see each other often, normally (but I spent quite a bit of time with him earlier this year, really long story in my profile)
YES... and I saw him last night at the flip, and now I forgot to mention it to you, sprite... yay! My godpuppy!
I remember, uusue.
nice, sprite! (my dog, Sera, was in yesterday's grid)
he is canoeing and camping out right now, Aloy :)
lucky dog! Is his hair hard to keep untangled?
no, not really, as long as you do it regularly. I usually walk him, then clean his paws and flags, then brush through quickly. And once every few days I use a comb and get all tangles out.
takes about 15 minutes, so not bad
he is so handsome!
I think so too :)
so I am having a wretched time extracting words from this grid...still not quite half way, grrr.
finally looked up ne6.18.. a brown oil used in perfumes!
ok, found a couple more, now past half.
I was going so strong, uusue, thought it was an easy grid, then when I slowed down... I wasn't even halfway, lol.
cannot stay on long but sending a general prayer request to all praying fellow babblers: I filed a missing person report Wed. - My 24 yr old daughter has vanished Since Mon. night- she is bi-polar with a history of suicidal behavior & drug problems. AL PRAYERS FOR HER SAFETY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !
that one I actually knew, aloy (spend too much time sniffing things at the natural body care counter)
omg, pugmama, how scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thinking of you, pugmama.. hoping for good news asap.. be strong
indeed it is
omg pugmama, consider her and yourself a big part of my prayers.
is there anything else we can do?
not really but your prayers will certainly not huurt
is that her in your photos? she is beautiful!!!!!
(I don't really pray but will be lifting her up in my thoughts)
she has given me many "ulcers" over the years but this time feels frighteningly different
TY & yes she is, with all her problems her looks were never one of them !
may she be safe, and may she surface soon and put your worries to rest, pugmama. I really really pray for that.
thank you all for your prayers & warm thoughts
is there a place she considers a "haven"? Where she might go when she is frightened?
Wed I found a note in my mail that sounds like she intends to "disappear".
but she left with nothing but her purse & only a few $
sounds very scary, pugmama. I hope it is a way for her to cry for help.
I only hope it was disappear as in "fall off the grid" and not the unthinkable alternative
credit cards?
my sister is bipolar and I have been through a number of searches for her.. that is why I am asking
I pray she somehow contacted one of her out of state friends from her "hippie festivals" or something..
no credit no car even her keys are here
she left her cell phone in her friends truck
I'd be worried too, pugmama. *hugs* and lots of guardian angels and good vibes.
tyvm dear
must go walk my fur folk now
see you all on later
that makes it even harder, though when we did "contact" her by phone, we could not communicate effectively.. take care, pugmama..
Bye for now, pugmama
bye, pugmama, thoughts are with you and your family!!!!!!!!
bless you all & thanks again ! POOF !
an
sorry... praying and typing doesn't mix too well, it seems
np sprite.. what a difficult situation.
yes it is really heartbreaking. Am quite... don't know the word. Very concerned, anyway. Am off for a bit. *hugs* to you all.
hugs back, sprite.. see you next time
"the Aristotelian final cause" = babblet te5.10 , okey dokey
bye, sprite!
tr7.28 is a short poem .. it ends sounding like the name of a purple flower
was thinking about going home but it is 92 degrees outside. bummer.
here's one for you, uusue.. tr7.32 is a PHOTON !
new to me
it is? *looks for tr7/32*
probably outdated term.. never heard of it.. from around 1929-30, the first name of the scientist
we don't like tr**ls to visit this site + Ebony *** Ivory
huh. I never heard of it either.
.. and FW for moi, so off to the kitchen I go.. ah, glad you found it sue.. (-:
ok, I see, it's not exactly a photon, it's one of those weird units involving light. Will add it to the physics babblets once I figure out how to explain it simply.
and yay, aloy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol.. let me know when you figure it out! ty and POOF..

Oh well. I only have 51...not at the bleep stage yet.

I agree... it is a toughie
no list yet, I probably wont finish. but..I like to try...
anyona have the re6?
hi all
not yet cos... but now I know there is one :-)
how are you today, red?
Hi, Temple owl
hi red
I'm good. very tired. got stitches out, but we should have waited, so now I have 2 big gaping holes in my leg...
still, I think they shall heal and the scarring will give my leg character right?
And I discovered that steak and shake has a drive through!!!!!
yay steak & shake! *mouth watering*
whose call as that, red?
hi, red! how come you got the stitches out early?
It was great!!!!
hi diane
Wasn;t early. they looked really good, but the MD uses "Mattress sutures" and they just didnt show the holes...they will heal I just need to be careful about infection.
oh, ok. never heard of mattress sutures. take care of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are really ugly, and I am not a fan, but I can not complain, I feel I am doing alright.
re6 would be what our ex-governor Blagojevich is having, except without the i
Hmmm, regret is not in the puzzle!
am i suppoed to be finding a tr 7 in your profile uu?
I don't think he has any regrets but he's in court again
way down after all the dad stuff, TO
I think Sue was referring to the re word that means to go through a court case again (The re6 in the grid being that without the i )
thx, molly, I am not great at cluing.
ok, heading home in 92 degree heat, bbl!
noswith dda - good evening

are you on the babble fb site?
I think so, but there are several sites, I think.
there's only one babble site that I'm aware of.
Yes, I'm there.
Should I go there?
It isn't a very active page.
i had to turn off notifications from babble on FB
the other day i got 50 notifications at once.. after months of inactivity
yes, it's gotten busy in the past few days!
I don't know why it notifies people every time someone posts. Who wants that much email?
that's something you can set within facebook, molly
