you are up late pugsy
not unusual at all
just usually lurking
how is the ruru ?
well...to be honest I've had better weeks in my life than this one
sorry dear........
mine hasn't been so hot either
saw in the chog you trashed your knee
that REALLY SUCKS
I'm sorry to hear that too pugs
Yes.. I've totally wrecked my left knee
how dreadful
getting an artificial?
and expensive
How much will a new knee cost?
i'm getting a second opinion.. but I am in tremendous pain
I don't know yet Haz.. my medical insurance may pick up most of it.
hope they have you on good drugs at least
I wish they were stronger.. I didn't sleep at all last night..the aching was horrible
.. And I have to point out that I have a high tolerance to pain.. this is too much..
Is this the result of wear and tear or one untimely movement?
I honestly do know how that feels to be kept awake by pain & it's HORRID
I think I have arthritis Haz and the wear and tear has built up to this problem
osteo ?
It sounds horrible however it was caused. Any idea when they might operate?
yes.. I will have to postpone surgery until Jan..at the earliest.. this is our busy season in my business and I can't be laid up for a few months.
Let them drink water....
you have to be kidding ruru
I'm sorry I don't mean to complain..
you can't work if you mind if focused on pain.
imho
tell me to mind my own business.
no it's fine snags.. It's all so new to me.. I've never been hospitalized before..the whole concept is weird to me
fireworks
YAY Pugs
I was doing fine for a while but I'm stuck now.
I kind of agree with snags ruru
ru, how young are your, if I may ask.
the longer you wait the worse the pain will become
I'll be 58 this october
You might be surprised how brief your hospital stay might be. Recovery wouldn't be instant by any means (especially in one of your advanced years) but it would be better than agony for months. It would affect your babbling abilities.
& you will get too run down & ill from lack of proper sleep
LOL Haz.. what Babblling abilities
I sense a ganging up of the babble sensible ladies.
you will be fine in the hospital. an experience that you will be glad you had.
So, that's settled. You're going for surgery a lot sooner than January. Next problem, please.
hospitals and funeral homes unnerve me snags
funeral home.......... no choice there. hospital..... well they will help you feel better.
please dont put it off ru.
I'll see what the next doctor says too.
men are such stubborn arses about doctors
and all things medical
I'm going to be a hoot going through airport security in the future though..lol
Think of Dylan. He needs you up and about, not languishing in pain.
once a joint is gone it;s gone
there is a new orthiscopic (sp) surgery for you type of injury ruru. ask about it as it is fairly new.
may, I can't spell...........
man.
I quit
oh well, good nite all & Big Hugs to Ruru... Just get it over with dear trust me !
Bye, pugmama.
thanks.. I'll let everyone know how it goes
pug, ditto that.
night all.
Le Poof
Bye, snags.
nite pugs
boy the last 25 are hard to see
It's not the easiest grid I've ever seen.
sometimes these smaller ones are more challenging
I don't think anybody has come up with a category system for grids - probably because we could never get people to agree on what constitutes easy or difficult.
this one is a 6.5 on the richter grid scale
What's that in feet and inches?
seismic activity..lol
dang I can't find one more word
I think this one scores highly on deceptiveness. The bigger words aren't hard but getting some of the smaller ones is a lot trickier.
Is deceptiveness a word or just me mangling the English language?
no.. I think it's a valid word
The dictionary doesn't like it.
Okay, this grid is deceptive. The dictionary won't argue with that.
LOL
I don't like to argue with dictionaries. I know people abuse enable all the time but confrontation gets you nowhere.
exactly.. then enable disallows other words you count on in revenge.
—Related forms de·cep·tive·ly, adverb de·cep·tive·ness, noun non·de·cep·tive, adjective non·de·cep·tive·ly, adverb non·de·cep·tive·ness, noun
Hurray! BabbleRabble has a decent dictionary!
(Making note to throw mine out for lack of imagination)
Hello, BabbleRabble and thanks for the reassurance.
ENABLE is the martinet of dictionaries.
evening all :)
hi mr p
**ruuster** !
how you going ?
In my best Alfred Hitchcock voice, Good evening.
such a little grid for a Sunday night
evening BabRab :)
not really going here mr. p.. pretty much stuck
now that voice is stuck in my head! LOL
looks like a sticky muddy grid
just got in from a very wet and muddy game of football!! soaked from head to toe!
the bathwater will be muddy!
ugh
and this player that has given me no reason whatsoever in the past to card him, got carded! it was a sad day for him.
that's a penalty I suppose
So, a carded player cannot visit the concession stand at halftime?
gives him even more reason to tell everyone what a biaytch I am! He can go share his card with his friends at work tomorrow, for aggresive and abusive behaviour toward an Assistant Ref.... just because the poor baby didn't get the corner he so desired
yes babrab, he needed a valium sandwich
should have passed him a tissue and his pacifier at the same time
meeeoooowwwww! goes the limecat!
lol
hah - got the i on my 1st guess. Still 2 As and a U short of NBT.
got the other u.
hi mrp, enjoying your colorful report there.
does anyone have the tr 6/21/
just before the BRidge word?
NBT at last
got it
thanks anyway
Hi, ruru, so agree w/your icon/comment.
thanks...
I am agreeing more with Haz about how silly it is for us to spend all the money on elections with all these candidates. The Republican party has become a very scary political party with a bad agenda.
no kidding. I have suggested to my Dem friends that we all register as Republicans and try to pull the party back to Eisenhowerian Republicanism.
I mean.. look at what they are offering up as alternatives to Obama.. Bachmann (???), Perry (???),, Romney (>>>) where is this country going?
let's not forget the Newtster either
hi melon! yes, the report to the association will also be filled with colourful words!! LOL!
*steps gingerly down off his soapbox and slinks away*
Perry scares me!!
he scares everyone mr p
I thought Romney might be at ;least a worthy opponent - see Mass health reform; then I saw the "straw poll" (fundraiser for GOP in reality) where when asked about unemployment compensation said something about the unemployed "taking responsibility" for their unemployment.
whatrur said.
it is like... "kids, eat your vegetables so that you can fight off Perry's 'advances' on you!"... he just is creepy!
what ruru said!
yes.. he is.. very...
I have to go take some pain medicine and go to bed.. good night all
nite ruuster, feel better luvvy :) **kisses**
Bachmann revises her autobiography as needed. Lies, lies. For being antigovernment, where would her hub's "counseling" business ("we have a successful small business") be without, ahem, Medicaid?
take some and sleep well, ruru!
slippery palms melon... slippery indeed
your medicaid sounds like a disaster too
I thought he couseled people with slippery palms - oh, wait.
and why is that idiot Felainni playing up as a striker for Everton?? Have they lost their minds??
good morning all
melon, I think he has hairy palms
morning sprite! :)
haha!
gm, sprite!
hairy palms? I hear somewhere you might get that from a certain solitary hobby?
sorry America... I just don't know what you have to chose from for your next presidential election... poor poor you and your choices
indeed sprite! have you shaken the hand of a catholic priest who hasn't been involved in child molestation lately?? (says the Catholic herself).
It's horrible. Truthfully, I wish Obama had a challenger in the primary. I'd go for Eliot Spitzer. Nevermind his bad habits - he's a battle-tested ass-kicker.
lolllll
you come away feeling that you just wiped an armpit
*giggles*
oh I had the best argument with a ref the other day!!! wanna hear it???
so therefore we can conclude, as we (though not the church) have concluded many times before: it is not healthy to order people to be celibate.
oh, mrp, sorry I even said your commentary was colorful; I've just egged you on! ;)
this girl puts her arms right up in the air and the ball hits her in the armpit!! He thinks that is a handball!!! cause according to him, it is an ARMpit!!
oh yes... seems to be your favorite battle field atm
So I say.... well if you are working on that logic, where do fish fingers come from???
omg what a reasoning. So if it hits a head stone, it is your head?
OK, enough insomnia, I'm going back to bed. it was fun. 'nite, all.
sprite!! you see my point!!!
isn't it amazing!! dumbass men
sleep well, melon, nice to have seen you!
nite melon! **kisses** sleep well please!
I found the fish!
did you find the fingers too??
handball on an armpit... oh COME ON!! what shite!
still looking for those, which definitely makes your argument stronger :)
how is it you control a ball in your armpit??? FO!
wish I could. I would be famous.
omg... Fellaini is peeving me to no end! He is useless... get him off the team now!! **screaming at the TV**
sorry, watching EPL
i tend to be tender when it comes to Everton losing
oh np. I always realise how mu4 irritation I don't have because I don't watch :D
there is no investment in the team in the forth coming season... and they have to sell players... but no one will buy fellaini
hm pacman seems to have a capital
hi all
they should just put him in the rubbish bin and hit recycle. maybe they will get a useable football out of him
hi carlee
hi carlee! :))
sorry, am ranting at EPL football.
hi mrp hun..how are we doing?
and hi there sprite...:)
hey carlee :) How are you today?
ummm...tired...very tired...will go back to sleep shortly...how are u sprite?
am okayish! Hubby is starting to feel better and it is making a lot of difference. I even slept last night.
woohoo for sleep...
oh good sprite!
oh my goodness...look who is here? hello darlings, mrp, sprite, carlee
we are doing shite... my knee hurts like hell and my foot is broken up now because it is taking on all the 'issues' of the tibia
i was at iftar and dinner last night ( was a pot luck...so i could take food for a change since been invited by so many to so many....and got invited ...by no fewer than 5 separate family members of the family hosting tonight ....so i just ate and drank )
hi rose!!! (((((hugs)))))
hey rose :D *hug*

hugs all around
aw carlee, that is heart warming
good morning!
today is day 16 WITHOUT the smokes, and cruising
hey rubyfoo :)
hi ruby!!
hey ruby
its is... but i am stubborn and since was invited....and the hosts are fasting..i feel i should out of respect fast myself...i think i have fasted 1/2 of Ramadan
woot rose, wtg!
woohoooooo wtg rmcc :)
you are a champion rose!
keep it up....
save the congrats until i can't remember hoiw long it is since i had one...LOL
as long as you take care of yourself, carlee. I seem to remember the rules of fasting aren't as strict for people who aren't in their full health?
rose, every day counts. Hell, every hour counts. You are already a champ.
that will be after a year rmcc...and every day is a small victory...worth a cheer!!!
what a lovely group! hugs to you all!
awwww, thanks carlee
that is correct sprite...but i seem to have my health...i came home last night soooo freaking stuffed
and sprite, thanks for the encouragement
being extremely tired is not a sign of great health, hun. Just take care, ok? :)
at midnight... ( i stayed during tarweeh prayer - is 1 1/2 hour long ) in bed...kinda hit the hay at 1... up at 4...will collapse in about 10 mins
(((huggles))) back
hehehe..my huggles are contagious :PPPPP
how are you today, rubyfoo?
hi ruby....this is a fun grid!!!
it is hot, these past couple of days, for the first time this summer and although it's great for the aches and pains (gons!!!!), there are tiny biting insects to which I'm allergic, so I'm trying not to scratch
cums
bad bad rubyfoo! LOL
ooh..i found the 10
whoops -- bad ruby headed for the PB!!!
wtg carlee
LOL, ruby
nah, it is not valid, rubyfoo. Just errrr.... what shall I say....
and not even a word, tho acceptable in lexulous
blushing
:)
ruby, now what were you thinking????
clearly, not much.....lol
and i foudn the 9 hehehe fun words
real words, carlee? (not asking for a clue, just want to know if I can find them by myself)?
i got a lot stuck with this grid!!
real normal plain old words
:( *weepy*, but happy to be here!!
wonderful :) Thanks, looking with renewed faith.
{{{{hugs}}}} for mrp
luvs to you carlee... falling apart here
mrP, come on old gal, you can cry on our shoulders and laugh at the same time... this is good company ;)
why are you weepy, mrp? {{big hug for you}}
don't fall apart.....
I have to run, see you later
oh wow found the 10 too. Great to find :)
bye rubyfoo, have a good one
((((((mrp))))???? for gooodness sake don't give in....
byebye ruby
just dealing with new news on my health... it is kind of.... unreal
we are all here for you, and if i could, i would be on the next plane to sydney town( and i don't even like sydney)
you know me girls! dont ever give in, but sometimes have fall apart moment... think it is normal
share, mrp, sahre
but u are strong..young..healthy... and stubborn as the day is long..with loads to live for....that as miles ahead of many others in your situation hun
i live on the outskirts of sydney for that reason you point out rose
yep, totally normal and even healthy. Share up, hun, let's hear it.
Good morning all.
hi DDog
mornin' dog
wish the health was really there... i did get bad news and have been waiting to share until all was confirmed
hi DD :)
hi dog
and.....
ok..and... we are listening hun
well.... you all know about my knee operation on 30 august... for the tear in the medial meniscus ((??)) think that is the spelling
yup
yes....
the MRI scans (2 now) and tests have confirmed I have cancer in my upper tibia (the big bone below the knee)
yes.....
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
which explains a lot of the weakness in that leg and the damage to my foot
{{{hugs}}}
oh god. MrP how awful.... *hugs*
i'm crying here, oh mrp, wish i was with you
my foot is so badly damaged and keeps on breaking... no idea why... my bone density scan was perfect... but weakness in the bone has worked it's way down
don't cry!! please don't!! I have done heaps of that!! please....
{{{MONSTER HUGS}}}
only found out last Monday
told the kids on Friday
we have this saying here, mrP: the devil always shits on the biggest heap. It is about time he starts shitting somewhere else, isn't it. Jeezzz.
but mrp, IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!
never friggin is fair... never... but for finding the tear, I wouldn't have found the bone cancer in time to have it at least half a chance sorted
ok, ok, one step at a time, right? what's next mrp?
its never ever fair...
sprite, we have a saying here.... 'you can't kill weed'!
hehehe isn't that the truth, mrP! We have the same saying, almost: Weed will never perish.
well, for what it is worth (sometimes a lot): we are here for you.
well, we do the biopsy, find out what type of cancer we are dealing with, and move forward with op to the bone, I can't afford radiotherapy as you all know our financial situation because of Mark's employer.
I do NOT want to have chemo, but I don't think I have that luxury/choice now
i like to think I am weed through and through!! I am no wallflower
mrp..so many advances have been made with chemo... my dad's...he was never ill..tired...but no nausea...
i hope that is the case carlee... I am scared of chemo
my aunt... 1 day sleepy
mrp, take everything they offer, please. i didn't have the strength to say that to my dearest friend, but i'm saying it to you...TAKE EVERYTHING
anyway... we all will find out more as the days move on... and I will keep you all up to date
get into an experimental trial group
i will have to rose. and I promise I will
just go for it, mrP. If chemo is the way, go the way. And you have lived through harder things.
good, i wanna see you alive and well in 10 years time
indeed sprite, I just have to take what I can... BUT, all will work out. promise you all that
I wanna see me alive and SANE in 10 years time! LOL!
yes it will, mrP. Because you never give in. And fear is something to take seriously, but conquer, every time. As I know you will. Even for chemo.
now, now, honey, you cannot expect that kind of miracles from a simple chemo. Sane?
sane is overrated....
<snort> sprite...
damn chemo... and why isn't radiotherapy on the PBS?? idiot government
have been inSANE for years now! not even chemo can fix that! LOL
mr p you must allows believe you will beat it - my ma in law is beating ling cancer that way
oops lung
we will be holding your virtual hand, hun. And talk to crossy. He's been there done that.
kazz, have done it before, will do it again
done it once already this year!! let's give it a chance
hey Kazz, isn't that the truth.
btw, am clear of cancer now in cervix and uterus. all tested good
my aunt has survived 3 separate and distinct..unrelated forms of cancer..hse is in her 80's and been cancer free ( touch wood and thank god ) for more thatn 10 years now
thanks girls :))
stupid cancer should know by now it cannot beat you. Silly to try again.
too right sprite!
deam
team
wow carlee
and plural that for a 5 kazz! LOL
and a plural
< spit on cancer><stomp on it> grind cancer into the ground>
whoops sorry - getting carried away
it can be done mrp
my dad is so upset... he can't work out why I keep getting it! he is so peeved about that!
and he never will...just...be PO'ed and use it
yes, it can indeed, and many cancers are cureable... so we will move in that circle of belief and stay there
how did the kids take it MRP?
he should be. It is about enough. You want to make sure you are as healthy as you can be for the rest, mrP. It will help you endure the road to perfect health, and it will make it harder on the cancer.
they took it as 'normal' for mummy to have bone problems/cancer... they have been doing this since they were babies... and it has always worked out... so I don't share anymore than I have to with them. They know I will survive
good for you, and them
good... that is good
that's the key word, mrp, SURVIVE. plkease my darling
I am a survivor rose! for real, I am!!!
can't sleep and just got up ---- so so so sorry mp. how scary this is, but you've already been through worse. you will kick this thing in the ass.
love, love, love you, dearest friend
hi mab
we have all been through our battles, and look how well we have come up!! good friends, great company, and a perfect loving group of people to find on the internet!!
you are a survivor!
thanks mab and hi! I am an ass-kicker! that is for sure
yes, we are blessed, and blessedly stubborn.
thanks you rose!!! ((hugs)) luv to you too darling
ah, it is the stubborn streak indeed!
don't I know :D
you gotta be stubborn at time to deal with enable dictionary afterall!!
and with life
my sister is just finishing up chemo for breast cancer. it's not been like a party, but it's not been horrible either.
enable is good training
and getting really angry is good too.
oh yes! Let it out of your system.
cancer hates anger
i do... and people don't like it, but i let it hang out there!!
mrp, just told don, sends his best wishes.
better out there than inside of you
thanks don!! give him my luv
will do, sweetheart
i best find out what is happening with dinner... brb girls!! and boys! ((hugs))
((((((mrp)))))
later hun
bye mrP, hug your love from me, will you? And your kids. And have a big one for yourself.
ok..mrp..i gotta get more sleep... its now 5:30 am..MRP..u know how to find me..u know how to reach me any time...Love u sweetheart
night carlee, sleep well. And get a load of energy from it.
take care carleee. you're in my thoughts so often.

Thank you Norma My birthstone. Hello everyone
Hi Nonna
Hello Norma. I have only just discovered this game. I can see nothing will ever get done
It is sooooo totally addictive... nothing gets done in our house until I get my morning FIX ... lol
Well I am actually in bed as it is 9.06pm and cold so I thought I would play on bed. I seem to be brain dead tho
Where are you Nonna?? It is 12.06pm here
Thats it Fireworks ..... see you all 2morrow
Sydney
hello, back from lunch and here for a few
Hi everyone.......
hello flask
Hi Ruby, Hi Flask.
{{molly}}
ooh, just got the 9 on my own. big accomplishment, lol
Ruby!!!
you have the best last name, molly. I had a friend, years ago in IL, whose last name was Riviere, pronounced Revere!
half, yay
It would be somewhat better if people could pronounce it properly. But I have grown used to that. : )
I could!
anyway, it's a lovely name!
I know you could, with every proper accent just so. : )
I know I have a strong American accent in French, but the locals don't seem to mind it, not like Parisians....
My husband used to say that the French are snooty when it comes to accents.
amas
sorry
we live in the sticks, so the locals are very nice and tolerant. And I have picked up some of the local accent, e.g. a voir, instead of au revoir
and nobody says "ne" in making a negative -- just a sort of breath
even on TV
I have a hopelessly Anglo tongue. I can manage just the smallest bit of French, and not very well accented.
I had some years at school and then started coming to France when I was 20 and had a little baby. No choice but to learn to speak
fortunately, my ear is pretty good and I can understand just about everything now, unlike when we arrived 14 yrs ago

i am in what my son calls bumble-f*** pennsylvania and my battery probably won't last
huh, my very sleepy son (who is staying at a friend's house until further notice - he lives closer to the university than we do) just called me to tell me that he will call me later. Wonder what's up?
lol,we call that east galoshes lol
on the road, jmc? and good to see you even if briefly!
but i thought i would try to get a few words in
lol sue, nothing like putting you on edge as he goes back to bed lol
went to see falling waters with my sister and nniece and bf
made me want to come home and email my architect to demand more windows
but my view isn't as good
i usually call it no effing where penns. etc crossy
would love to see fallingwater - have done the wright tour in Oak Park which is fascinating
hi kids - jmc I was thinking of you yesterday, read an article (in the New Yorker) about asylum seekers,
aren't you involved in that type of work?
and windows are nice - my ex hated the neighbors so put in a bunch of windows on that side that are "obscure" - they're white so you can't see through them - and I miss being able to see out
it was wonderful to see and had been on my list so i can scratch that one off
hi, jbv!
hi sue!
hi jbv -- not exactly. it would depend on why they were seeking asylum
Unsue...have you seen the campus of Florida Southern College. The original campus was designed by Wright
very interesting article (Aug. 1 New Yorker) - mostly about Africans who are coached in their "narrative" about why they can't go back to their countries
it mentioned an attorney from DC
who was the attorney? i may know them
Jason Dzubow
your know helping someone who doesn't normally have to advocate for themselves may or may not be coaching
he has a blog called "The Asylumist"
no don't know him
well, it got pretty specific - about women who claim to have been raped, when just beating and torture would not get them approved
kinda of sad you have to claim more than being beatened and torture don't you think?
un6?
but it does sound like he crossed the line
no, I haven't, tabby, but it would certainly be interested!
hi kje!
un6 is something the news says after an accident that looked worse than it was
ty!
that is fw for me
whooo hooo kje!
yay for kje
hi all
when I was working with central american refugees back in the 1980s, there was a man who was denied asylum even though he bore many scars of torture, as the judge said the fact that he wasn't dead already proved that his life wasn't in danger (this was in OK or TX, I forget which)
and yay, kje!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone have a clue for the second qu 5?
qu5 - mispelled royalty?
qu + w*** the baby off the bottle
that judge should be run out of town
indeed, annie!
he probably was applauded by the press nationwide
yes, sad, I guess that was the point, and after all they've been through, the interviews with the asylum officers are pretty grueling
his attorney was a Quaker named Rex Friend, which I thought was quite an appropriate name :-)
thanks josh
haha
any clue for the 2nd ta7 ?
i should move
bbl
the maid that accused Kahn of raping her claimed raped to gain asylum in the US
ta7 - ta + pee
two for 1. thanks kje.

todays breffast is jumbo brown double yolkers over easy in butter, crispy chunks of russet taters and herbs,a rasher or 3 of hickory smoked, maple kissed porkine goodness, some farmer sausages, toasted english muffins with 3 fruit marmalade and a nice chilled glass of orange juice(no pulp) to wash it all down
DROOL!
crossy..king of food porn:)
i didn't even mention the 'sides' of toast and marmalade, crumpets, muffins and juice - plus the fresh coffee...
yes! you are.
sounds good as well glant
uh oh! a contender
the pig is a vey fine animal, is it not? you can eat pretty much all of it except the squal
it is ok,glant and i are cut from the same genetic historic pool and i will share all food porn with her
ahh yeas,the noble porker
very gracious, Crossy
But we Italians love the pig also
lol,my wife is reading james herriot for the first time.the other day when into her second book of his ,she looks over at me and says "now i know where you get it from and what is wrong with you!" lol
lol
i say "sorry love, was born oer in da auld country ya ken and me ma and da are welsh right down to da toes" lol
i am glad you are sharing all food porn with me crossy - i don't care for the others kind LOL
I didn't know Crossy
hego - I am 50% italian genetically
lol
that's why you love food.
phantom terrine - now i am seeing food in the grid :-)
To Italians life is what happens between mealtimes. lol
my mrs is the type who will drink 3 cups of coffee and have a cup of yogurt and call that breakfast.while she is doing that i have the bacon going and egss sizzling chopping taters for the panputting 6 kinds of jam and jelly on the table and agonizing over if it is to be a fresh home loaf of bread or english muffies,..so i put it all on the table hehe
some of my fmaily come form the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples, some fom Sicily
yea,the italians know their food also
and she resists that?
i picked up a panasonic breadmaker for £5 yesterday, made the first loaf fom it, yummy
Those are 2 gorgeous places Glant
lol,she will hold out for a tad hego, then she will smell the bacon, and will see me chopping up the chives for the taters, then the gooseberry jam for the scones comes out, then she waves the white flag of surrender
Glant, you will never regret that purchase. My bread maker has gotten more use than any of my kitchen appliances.
good bye yogurt!
mmmm taters
i am afraid to buy a bread maker
i have been after tis particular breadmaker for about a year but was unwilling to pay £100
if i make it too easy,i will end up eating two loaves a day!
why?
I see
i saw this one on a 'house clearance' stall at a market and couldn't resist
for a fiver,i guess not!
it looks hardly used - just needed a clean
i would be making cheese bread non stop if the thing were on my counter lol
oh, need the recipe crossy
A lot of people use them a few times and then never again. So you can get good deals on hardly used ones.
sec...
i have only ever made wholemeal - by hand or machine
Glant, if it didn't come with a recipe book, you can find lots of good bread machine recipes on line.
Ingredients 3/4 Cup Lukewarm Water 1/2 Cup Creamed Cottage Cheese 1/2 Cup Shredded Old Cheddar Cheese 3 Tbsp. Grated Parmesan Cheese 2 Tbsp. Sugar 1 Tbsp. Butter 1 1/2 Tsp. Salt 3 Cups White Flour 2 Tsp. Yeast Method Measure ingredients in order listed into baking pan. Insert baking pan securely into bread maker; close lid. Select sweet setting and 1.5 lb Loaf. Choose light or dark (I chose dark). Push the start button and let it go. Time will be 3:50 hours. Once complete, remove baking pan and allow to cool before slicing.
there ya be:))
thanks Molly - it did hae an instruction book with recipes but a recipe recommended by a fiend is always better :)
Oh, Lord!
thanks crossy - copying and pasting now
a real sharp cheese is best
saved and printed. lol
now i will warn you, generally the first loafs life expectancy is about 20 minutes lol..so best make 2 or 3 lol
real sharp cheese is no problem, but I've never heard of creamed cottage cheese - the kind we have is white and lumpy - do I beat it or pass it through a sieve or just leave as is?
leave as is
small lumps..1-2 cm
our lumps are smaller - maybe a quarter of n inch in 'old money'
thats fine
and does it need 'strong flour' or breadmaking flour; or will it work with ordinary plain
large curd
standard bread flour
thanks crossy
Is that a recipe from your bread machine recipe book Cross?
here we use robin hood brand bread flour
no,a friend gave it to me,and i adapt it for my old bread pans
i do not have a machine at present
i try to use artisan flours if i can - made ikn proper local mills
I have a cheese bread recipe, but it doesn't call for cottage cheese. I'll have to try adding that.
i use the crumbly "brick style of yeast
sounds great glant
we can't get the brick style yeast any more - not sure of a baker's might sell me some
2 rises and in da oven
i am sure the granule yeast is fine also
i love the process of hand making bread but it's finiding the time and enthisiasm on the same day i have the problem with lOL
au 5 and 6 anyone? pls
i know glant,it takes me half the day to churn out half a dozen loaves
same problem Glant

Good morning all
howdy bob
Hi Mr Bob
Hi Mr Bob
I suspect you may find it is Absolut, crossy
OMG its amazing how good you feel when you get good sleep and have deliscious dreams to boot....(no creepy dark dreams..just nice feel good stuffs ) <sigh. i want to go back to bed for more!
but as to which flavour...
Hi Carlee
hi glan
Hi Carlee
hi hego
howdy carlee
hiya crossy
i envy you and your good sleep carlee.i had my usual 11 pm to 1 am,then a hour and a bit just before dawn
that is what i have been doing since my father died
i have another iftar and dinner tonight... so i did get up to eat at 4 am and was up talkign with mrp and sprite until 5:30/ 6 but then i slept until 10:30
yes, stress and grief can play havoc with sleep patterns
tell me about it...
iftar?
after..crossy can read typoneese
now i waslistening to algazeera online ( covering the stuff in libya and egypt) so maybe the far away places and accents helped with nice dreams
aaaah
iftar....its iftar...not after
so i was wrong..what the heck is iftar?
so what is iftar Carlee?
a spice,a nasal congestion? lol
iftar is when you break you fast during ramadan....is at sunset....u break ur fast with dates and water then pray magrib then eat a HUGe dinner since u have not eaten or drank since before sunrise
a ritual?
ahh rituals..
hmmm..akin to fasting for passover ... or lent
ah, thanks for the explanation
amazing how many religions ask people to fast
its a great equalizer
the sacrifice thing
takes away the status of wealth and power
each to their own i always say
i would be hideous - if my blood sugar gets low i get the shakes, and then i get very grumpy
cause no matter how rich or poor you are....you are feeling the exact same with an empty stomach and a dry tongue
yes, would be impossible for my da to fast.his blood sugar would crash
if is health related...u dont fast... u give to charity....anyway... I SLEPT
but the rich man drive home in his beemer for his dates and water lol
i am glad you slept Carlee
yeap..he does....but whislt he was fasting he still felt the same physical torment...
so , now that florida will drug test welfare people, look out new york here they come!!
yup..interesing thing it tis
so what will they do if the drug tests are positive?
they will freeze... they will go to arizona or someplace else warm
no cheque i would imagine
u dont qualify for welfare
hmmm... new york big welfare state, esp. my county..
so does welfae vary between states? it's a level playing field in the UK - everybody gets the same benefits
but they are used to being on welfare and being warm...winters would kill them
can stay on forever it seems. more kids the better.. kids having kids..
here in tourist land when september comes and we roll up the sidewalks and hunker down for another winter, the unemployment cheque is king
I've never understood why religion would want people to go through physical torment. It sort of defeats the purpose of believing in a just and loving God.
but is tourist town in winter too with all the skibunnies isnt it?
i think a couple more states jumped on the drug testing, but so far not new york.. some of them were getting more than i was and i worked full time
everything paid, rent, utilites, food.. then give cash to buy other things
here,we have tightened up on the "special diet" benefits..people were abusing the hell out of it
molly, for some reason, sacrifice has always been part of worship.
here there is a set amount per week per family member, and rent allowance (paid directly to landlord) and that's about it
we were on welfare for a few months..it was awful
now my son, is on till he can find a job(told him he has so long to find one) gets $8 a month cash. thats it.
but that year the recessionw as so bad and there were NO jobs... we applied everywhere all the time....resumes flying out the door
i truly feel for those who really need it.. but so many are just plain lazy
it is horrible, laying your entire life out on paper for people to pour over with a microscope and dole out money accordingly.hat in hand all the time, your entire life falling apart if there is even the slightest paperwork snafu one month
yes crossy, they made him feel worthless
You're right Hego, it has. I'm just not sure why. I don't believe God wants us to be miserable.
i would tell them , if i didnt need this.. u woudlnt have a job !
i made 50.00 feed 3/ week and that included diapers... i went to the farmers market for 2 pounds of ground beef and veeggies... and i made a huge pot of stew that lasted 3 or 4 days ( and pureed that for babby food) and then meat loaf and mashed tates....i baked my own bread... drank powdered milk and to change up dinner..one night was pancakes or mac and chees from the box
religion is a form of social control. i guess sacrificing something reinforces that 'togetherness' feeling and makes the social control more effecive
lol,i once spent 2 weeks eating taters and eggs
been there belive me. we ate peanut butter on toast for a long time. child support was a laugh
I once got all the bread ends together to make my kids French toast for dinner.
thats why i get so mad when i see the young kids, dragging two and three kids , with one on the way. they dont break the cycle
eggs and taters or peanut butter on toast were breakie
thankfully, I got paid the next day.
more kids yhou have, more money you get
still eat it carlee lol..
don't think about the future
oh for sure glant.. thats where it has to stop.. if they didnt get the welfare for each kid they wouldnt have them.and then their kids do the same
Never collected, though, waitressed my way through.
we were like that for over a year...with bi monthly visits from govt going through financials
it was awful....but i know i can survive it....
in case u didnt notice, welfare is a sore spot for me. not against those who really need it.but in my county, thats what they live here for
ahhh, the youth of today arent made of what we are lol
i am not pro welfare either ivesy but if we didnt get it....i have no idea where i would have been
But it is hard for young kids to find work today.
Jobs are tight.
thats what i mean.. some people really need it, carlee some just take adavantage.
Well, need a break. hagd all.
and for the tidbit of the day i give you the winner of the 2011 darwin awards!!!
Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt ( Paderborn , Germany ) fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes before the plugged-up pachyderm finally got relief. Investigators say ill-fated Friedrich, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an olive oil enema when the relieved beast unloaded. The sheer force of the elephant's unexpected defecation knocked Mr Riesfeldt to the ground where he struck his head on a rock as the elephant continued to evacuate 200 pounds of dung on top of him
2010*
ewwwwwwwwwwwwww that was a visual i didnt need
and on that note...i gotta head to mums
lol
at least it is not about bacon
:)
and THAT is why i gave my pet elephant away
not to mention the footprints in the butter dish
yup
never putting the seat down...
using all the tissues..
and the monthly q-tip cost was insufferable
you had one too,, hey cross?
In Kent, Ohio of shooting fame (we used to live there) ther is actually an ordnance on the books that you can't keep an elephant inside the city limits
of course, would be tough to follow the stopp and scoop laws i would imagine'
ordinance? I'm never sure which is the law and which the bullet. Maybe it's all the same
one kills ya and one kills yer pocketbook
You may have heard in Britain there is still a law on the books that says a pregnant woman can wee in a policemans helmet
wow
I guess in Britain you can say if you are pregnant that urine good company with a bobbie
oh ho ho!!
Back again
good morning, everyone :)
Hi Nan
down to 32 - think I'm going to have to list
good afternoon all
Hi teach
My mother, who worked for AFDC, used to ask: Would you have a baby for 50 cents a day? She's been dead a long time. I suspect it's more like a dime these days.

da 6?
No, ours fight on land also, which makes no sense. lol
Actually they don't. My Father was a Coast Guard officer and he was a helicopter pilot for a time.
da 6 is a poisonous plant
much easier just to have a unified armed services, like we do!
morning all!
HI jilly
Each branch of the US armed services has specialized training. It gives those who join up some options.
so does each branch of our armed services -- but that is what they are -- branches
still think farine should be a word!
Semper Paratus! My oldest was in CG for 6 years. They are NOT an offensive branch, protective only.
I have the utmost respect for any country's armed services and don't consider one "better" than another. To each their own opinion. I'll head out of here now.
change the last vowell and it is nan
*gives Molly a purple heart for cluing*
She's good at it. For sure.

Harvest gold!
Oh dear. A golden fridge. I think there's one of those in the Smithsonian.
Haven't heard that in a while.
LOL judi, right next to the avocado green
other than the loss of food, she got her money's worth out of that fridge!
Well, at least she'll get the Energy Smart tax credit when she buys a new fridge.
It doesn't owe her a thing. lol
Yep, and changing will save her a TON with energy savings now!
Am I the only one with a normal fridge?
harvest gold, avocado green, what was the red called?
Define "normal", Mark.
there was a red?
Not golden?
Ask your grandma mark!
English people have little fridges.
What do you mean?
I don't recall a red either...
It was more brownish that red. "Hideous" may have been one word.
yup, i had a coffee pot that was an orange/red matched my popcorn popper!
red or that copper color?
"Umber", maybe?
Naw, my fridge is white.
sounds normal
burnt umber!!
umber is a brownish yellow
I think the only colors you can buy now are white, almond, black and stainless steel.
Actually we have mostly white now also.
That's it, Jilly! Like the former crayon.
No almond...now 'bisque'..trust me

"Hi, I'm Billy Mays..."

on my way -- back at the flip :)
afternoon, kids
hi jes
clue for the 10?
don't have it, mkg.
The 10 is a lovely blue colour.
thanks, hydra
what does 10 begin with?
got 2 words from that :)
nm got it
the 10 is my birth stone
You're welcome. Which month is it the birthstone for? Aquarius?
hi all, new to babble!
welcome, sapphire.
howdy sapphire, welcome
feel free to ask for help if you have any questions :)
thanks :)
Nah...my daughter is aquarius and hers is amethyst. She's early February.
My daughter is early Feb too. 5th.
I'm March. Wonder what mine is?
That's my daughter's day! Very neat!
Wow! What a coincidence, Champ!
:)
http://zoeleedesigns.com/goldplated.as px - bottom of the page is birthstones
a10 is March, apparently.
Gosh. So it's my stone! I love it.
and once again, filled with knowledge thanks to babble!
eh. all i did was ask the all-knowing-internet. not like i knew it off the top of my head ;)
Thanks for doing it, jes
Must go. Back later :-)
have a lovely Sunday, hydra!
hmm just hit a major brick wall with 47 left
i'll help if i can, leslie, but still have 40 left myself
Me too...35
nah not yet, just deciding whether to list or truck on
I'm just picking at it...
i'll try to get to 100. i'm missing something from that bottom t... only 13 there.
heh. i've only got 9 from that one
I'm only missing 4.
there's an amino acid that cats need, ta7
that's probably the fanciest word i have from that t
haha. there's also "the donald" and past tense.
oh, and i guess tr5 = hobo, tr7 is past tense of hobo
and another combo that just swaps the third letter
Thanks for the amino acid!
hi, can I get a clue for sa 6 ?
reminds me of a Japanese fighter, change the ending
thanks, champ
thanks Champ :)
np
m's mashed!
go jess!
wd, jes
at 92... stumbling toward that 100...
do you have the yummy pe6, often made into butter?
a question from a rookie...how do you submit your puzzle when you're done?
i do actually
you don't, sapphire
there's not really "submitting" a puzzle. did you enter all the words you had?
the site automatically keeps track of how many words you've finished, and your score.
oh ok, makes sense!
if you go to the rankings list above the chatbox, you can see who finished first, who has the highest average scores, etc.
cool, thanks!
if you finish the grid, you get a little fireworks display over the tile stats under the grid
WHEN you finish the grid. Must think positive!
ah, sorry, of course. when you finish, sapphire :) didn't mean to cast doubt!
:)
ok finally hit 100, had to scroll back in the chat for some clues. off to the list i go.
hurrah, LA!
Hi to my fellow babblers! How is everyone doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hey min doing well. yourself?
hi min. doing well. hugely productive yesterday, plan to do nothing useful today at all. :)
Hi min!

I am well, thanks.I just logged in here to let you know I have a story in my profile.I'm off to a friend's house.
I will be back later tonite to get my last 5 words. Bye!
thanks min! have fun!
thanks, min!
cu 7/40 is cu + most of one the armed forces branch.
Leslie Ann, the cu7/40? cu+ ma6/21, minus the last letter
thanks!
*POOF*
ta 6/7?
Scarlett's home + not pa and plural
thanks, molly

: )
tu
fa6,27 please?
can someone please help me with the tr6/21 right before the Donald thanks
fa is a cereal like oatmeal or someother hot cereal
thanks, sadie
tr6/21, three as one
tr 6/21 is three prefix + babbler ***ixoise speedfreak.
Prefix for three + sand d***s are good for hang gliding
ohhhhh ty
thank so much was not seeing that one
heh. it's so obvious in retrospect.... thanks :)
Everything is obvious in ret.rospect
mu6?
Eyewash.
not so, kap....there are many things that even in retrospect, i cannot grasp what the crap people were thinking! :)
just like the ma6/21...change second letter
like the ma6, leslie
I am going to live retrospectively from now on.
bugger. thanks.
mu6/21 follows the same pattern as the ma6/21 word
All my corrections will be retroactive.
phew! fireworks. got real nasty there at the end.
D's Deterred! 4 left
From this day forward, I will go backward.
yay leslie!
Congratulations LeslieAnn on fireworks! Good for you
congrats Leslie
Yay, LesliAnn

*LeslieAnn even
congrats jes
Congratulations jesdraggon on fireworks! Good for U
glad you're OK, jes (grin)
eh, close enough
I am done! I have fireworks! fa6/30 was my last word
me too, java! I nearly sprained something looking for that word
Yay, Minveryork!
I am glad you remained un 6/27 looking for that word
It is sort of like a game of twister
NOW I can goto my sister-in-law's house. I leave you with a story of clues in my profile. I will be back later.
bye again, min!
clue please for ta7/32...the second one??
ta + proper word for pee
thanx!
good day everyone!
hey all
hi stiddy!
*tosses choclits at LA*
how's the grid today?
not too bad, a few oddballs
okay, ;et
let's see how far I get before the battery dies.
where's your adapter?
in the wall -- I am resting though so trying to not get up. I have a cold in the head (and milking it for all it's worth)
fireworks
hi stid, dawg. how're you doing?
oh no, i hate summer colds!
yay sadie!
whoooo hoooo sadie!!
summer colds are the worse i think
ty ty
hi Jes! doing okay, and yourself?
*sending stiddy, chicken soup*
other than the cold, however, life is pretty good. a little on the warm side, though all the way up to about 24 already
not too badly, dawg. just swinging through to see if anybody needs clues :)
aw stid. hope you feel better soon!
thanks all *sips soup*
any new rescues, Jes?
no current fosters, dawg
lots of puppies have come through the clinic that we've passed on to regular rescues though
the packrat got released about 10 days ago
that's nice jes
packrat? for real? PACKRAT????
now i'm working on getting stuff prepped for my own critters for winter.
yes, packrat, stid. very cute.
google "bushy tailed woodrat"
they look like giant chinchillas :)
packrats are disgusting..
hm.... I wonder if THOSE are the critters I saw soon after we moved in (they were dead) -- perhaps the construction disturbed their home. *sad look*
hey ruru!
if you say so, ruru.
i think the whole building a midden thing is fascinating though.
my house looks like a packrat den... 11 years ago you find the floor under the first layer of the midden......... *sigh*
amazing how much stuff you an acquire in a few years
thank you sadie...
you rescue Packrats too Jes?
I hate moving I have so much junk
i rescue just about anything that people bring me, ru
wow.. that's unbelievable
well, it's like the archaeology in the wells of colonial America, I think -- you find the most curious items!
hehehe
I have a packrat story I could tell, but won't
stidkid #1 is unpacking and cataloging my books -- they go in the bedroom section of the midden... many many books of 100+ years. I didn't realize I had so many!
why unbelievable, ru?
oh i bet they are very interesting to read
it doesn't end well for the packrat.. so I'll skip it jes...
they're not like mice much, are they? I mean, they don't invade homes, do they?
no, i mean why is it unbelievable that i rescued one?
they can, stid. but they are solitary, and much bigger than a mouse, so they can't get in the tiny cracks mice can.
some of the old titles are really funny -- there is one that isn't unpacked yet -- a medical text about how to deal with women's complaints... obviously written by a man for men!
oh.. I can't believe someone would turn one in for rescue.
they usually live in the woods, eat mostly leaves and berries.
not in oregon
howdy again everyone, back for another stab at da grid:)
lol ive seen some of those they are funny
when they do get into a house or storehouse, the issue isn't that they raid your kitchen so much as it is that they build a midden using anything they can shred or fluff.
hm. I wonder if we will find a midden under the house then? I need to crawl under there and inspect things. Tom didn't do it while I was in school, and doesn't seem to want to go down there now, either. So I will do it. *looks for spelunking gear in middle of the layers*
hiya crosshair
CROSS!!!! I have the GREATEST picture for you! But I have to load it. Hold on...
hi again.....clue please for un6/27??
lol howdy stidmama! howdy sadie
so they'll pull all the stuffing out of the back of couches, shred papers, rearrange stuff...
hi crossy
howdy jes
hi flask. un6 means not injured
hows our resident vet today?
thanx jes!!!
sore and tired, but accomplished, crossy. and with nothing productive that needs doing today, cuz we got it all done yesterday :)
fireworks for me.....
YAY flask!
yay flask! that was my last word too :)
thanx and goodnight!
how're you, crossy? any grand new bacon dishes to share?
nope,nothing new atm
but the family is doing fine
that's good. :)
and our kitty with the chopped tail is doing fine and will have the bill for that paid in 6 months or so...i wonder if our local vets drive a bently or a rolls royce to work lol
horse and carriage, crossy. LOTS more expensive to keep up than a Bentley :)
never see a car..maybe she justs charters a jet...lol
evening all
lol jes
howdy glant
clue for the tr6/21? it has me beaten
tr 6/21 is three-beings-in-one
noswaith dda!
But people don't look at you like you're blowing a bunch of money if you ride a horse instead of driving a car; they consistently underestimate how much horses cost!
lol
so she gets the more expensive transport, and people don't look askance. Win win :)
okay cross, I think it's there...
ahh yes,the "horsey set"
might need to refresh to see it though
aaaaahh! chocolate covered bacon mocha! brilliance!
firewoks - thanks jes
i can see the label with the word bacon on it,but cannot id what is in the bottles...
welcome, glant :)
YAY Glantarell!
yaa for glant!
it's flavoring syrup, crossy, usually used in drinks like lattes and italian sodas
It's Torani syrup, cross! Like for Lattes...
ahh,bacon..is there anything it cannot do??? lol
<<grin>> thought you would enjoy it.
mmm, off to bed now but hoping for a big breakfast in the morning - 250 mile drive tomorrow
Now I have one for ruru, but it's not as much fun, I think.
bacon....
sweet dreams Glantarell
sleep sweet, glant, and drive safely tomorrow!
night night all - and happy babbling
gn glant sleep tight
I will add that one to my flickr feed. hold on....
okay it's there ruru -- top left corner.
for NBT I need the A in the fourth row down please?
au5 and 6, stid
do you have a + caribbean alcohol? and plural?
hey, jes and stid :-)
thanks une! I have those piratical words... I think I need the AU set
hi une, someone used you as a clue earlier :D
:-)
same as the ones une clued, but add a u :)
which are almost identical ...
yup :-)
actually, that's the arrowroot plant I think. *thinking*
hm. apparently not. And apparently highly toxic. I shall have to make sure the ones in the garden are not spreading, methinks!
dn't chew on them! :)
not a chance! LOL
rams
oops, sorry
well, past halfway and my head hurts *puts choclits in PB for Une*
I shall depart and return later. (((hugs and choclits for all))) thanks for the help! *poof*
many thanks :-)
later, stiddy
44 to go -- taking a break *poof*
have fun, stid, une :)
Fireworks! Expert is really helpful when we get to the last few.
hi, all, only 25 words so far and I am still writing lectures, have a rehearsal in half an hour (am rejoining the local womens' chorus) so probably won't get much farther on this one. Did want to say hi, though :-)
hi sue. I'm popping in and out myself today
tarn
OOOPS! Off to PB already!
hi, nef!
(I actually had that one)
anyway, back to the Bohr atom...
anyway, back to the Bohr atom...
and I will stop stuttering, too.
Bohr atom? Sounds.... studious
writing lectures, really I am
I could never be a teacher; too much prep time me thinks.... I give teachers a LOT of credit!
classes start tomorrow; one course I am ready for, as I have taught it before, but the other one is new, in a subject that is not in my area of expertise (astronomy) and at a higher level than I have taught before
I have taught the freshman astronomy course but this is a junior-level course, so a lot more math
Wow! I wish you lots of luck in doing that!
Sue, I like your Fairy Nebula icon.
How did you get so lucky as to teach a higher level class than you have before?
bbl; gotta fix supper (DH is gone this evening)
thx, molly! (sorry I was off getting my blackboard courses updated)
and now i am off to rehearsal, bbl!
ahh! that was a right bit of dinner,i did some nice sea bass fillets in lemon/pepper/garlic and pan fried them in butter and a side of bacon and cheddar scalloped taters and some veggies
i am trying for fish 3 times a week and cut back a tad on the red meat:)
sigh..teenage angst.the kid wanted to go to the laundry room to wash his own blankets(lol @ 17 year old boys) one of the 2 washers did not extract properly cause he had too many blankets in there.i go down to see what is taking so long and i find him losing his mind and on the cell trying to get the building handyman, frantically trying to dial the superintendant.i told hing to hang up the phone, divie the mound of sopping wet blankets amongst 2 other washer and get on with his life..i swear he was going on like someone had died lol
divide
yup....give them credit for doing own laundry and they cant deal......learning experience...hello crossy

Yes, Nef.

well we are back from dropping our eldest at college for the first time!
i didn't even cry. i could have but i didn't.
any crying good enough? i cried, i didn't want my parents to leave!
i couldn't talk for about 5 minutes my throat was closed up but no tears
i know that feeling!
i feel like the weirdest part will be not knowing if she got home ok tonight. i wish i could ask her to text me when she gets in but i know that would be wrong.
not neccessarily, maybe you can text her to let her know you care
my mother is so overprotective of me it is pitiful
i have learned to live with it.
texting sounds kinda impersonal to me
my daughter has always been very independent so its usually easy for me to let her move on to the next thing - but this is a big thing.
i don
i don't ruru, it will give mom a peace of mind
*Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that about texting*
GE, I'll keep your daughter in my good thoughts. I hope she stays safe and enjoys her college experience.
why would texting be impersonal, do you think she should call her?
txting is great! you get to share lots of stuff immediately that might not other get siad. little jokes etc.
thanks molly!
and she laughs at my typos just like here.
like surprises, wish i had texting
yes.. but not to be intrusive.. just to say hi.. how's it going..
there you go good enough
yes ruru
xactly
my mother CALLS ME every night and she lives in the next town! to me that is intrusive, she calls almost to the minute i get home, and yes i am the oldest and the only girl!
that is intrusive..
What happens if you let it go to voice mail/answering machine? Does she keep calling?
(*guesses*) yes!
good lord! we just had a tornado touch down in a town less than an hour from here.it has devastated the downtown area of goderich:(
yep
is that common there crossy?
i can get up to 3 VM from her and i try to tell her if i am going to be late....
very rare here
I would have a hard time with that Jen. Cross, glad you and yours are safe.
wow crossy
as our water remains cloder that southern areas and we usually do not get very intense hot/cold fronts clashing
omg cross - glad you are safe
ty molly
ty dan,we are fine
colder
can i get a clue for the cu7 please
we had hail and high winds but nothing else
we has one a town over a couple months ago. didn't tear up houses or anything but just seeing the tops of trees ripped off was soooo frightening. so glad you are ok cross.
cu + most of oceanic without the last vowell
I think I'd rather have earthquakes than a tornado
the downtown core is gone and the roads are closed in and out of town...have a friend there and must call on cell if i can tc and wish those ingoderich safety and that all their loved ones are acounted for..poink!
I'll opt for neither, thanks. : )
I'm with molly
<---used to earthquakes.. yawn
Good chance all the cell towers are disrupted.
Earthquakes are almost unheard of here. BUT...last summer, we had a small one. What a strange feeling to wake up to what your groggy brain thinks is thunder, but it is booming under your bed. : O
18 left!
go jen
not getting it ruru
just got it ty ruru
ca + The US *****e Corps
hey! there is a word on the top row! :0) or should i clue it?

hi again, all! back from rehearsal, still have lots of lectures to write :-(
da6 anybody?
Molly, was that a ca7?
fireworks!
it was a cu7, bichon
Sue, everything okay with your son? You mentioned a cryptic phone call and I lost track of the conversation.
yay, jen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whoooo hooooo JEN!!
oh, yes, he's fine. He wanted me to buy him breakfast but by the time he called back we were on our way out the door.
yippee, 2 nights in a row! and i did it in about 5 hours
ty Molly

da6...da + Ace Ven**** pet detective.
Oh, sorry about the cu clue. It was in answer to a question from way down the chat log.
and I finally got him to sit down with me so we could opt him out of the student health insurance (which he doesn't need since he's on my plan). So that was good.
(although that didn't happen until after lunch; he's moved in with a friend for a couple of weeks so I don't see him much these days)
Good. I was hoping it was not more ex-girlfriend drama.
good lord, the u.s health system is mind boggling
no, she is still texting him every once in a while (infrequently enough that it's not worth going to court over) but mostly seems to be staying away. and he's totally lost interest.
it is indeed a mess, crossy; what brought that up?
sues son sweating his health care brought it up
oh, the one sweating was me, crossy, since I would have had to pay double. He didn't care all that much :-)
Well Sue, I hope that girl gets some help. From what you've said, it sounds like she needs it.
here, everyone pays at tax time, everyone is covered, end of story..sure it uses up 45% of our tax bill, but that broken hip will not make you sell your home
she certainly does, molly, and I hope she gets help too, but I am very glad she is out of my life.
ta6 clue anybody?
crossy, I would trade our health care system for yours in a heartbeat, but apparently not enough people agree with me :-(
I'm glad she's out of your life too, Sue. Those kind of people will drain your life force right out of you if they are around too long.
hint for the 10, please
ta6...Scarlett's home + not pa
bichon - a compound word jewel
seems so sue,in many cases down there it is a case of the middle class saying"why should i pay for him?" when it is a case of "we are in this together"
ta 7/32 - of, pertaining to, or resembling a bull.
ty Molly & all cluers - firewords
tyvm dan
Yay 2Bit!!!
even our beloved scrabbs feels that chasing after the insurance companies is the best way
yay, dan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
those that have want it the same way as always..those that do not have, die in the gutter or lose their homes
I would love to see a US revolution against health insurance companies. They are despicable.
it is sad indeed molly
talk about death panels! What do people think insurance companies do????
now,our system is a long way from perfect..but i would not be standing here talking to you after three bouts of cancer if i was in the states
I agree Sue.
I have really good health insurance through my job, but Frank doesn't have any at all, and the idea of something happening to him fills me with dread - I don't know what we would do.
And multiply Frank times the thousands and thousands of Americans who have no health insurance.
it is a sad state of affairs that should not be
tens of millions, actually...
so sad..people lose their homes,,all for a broken bone or 2
or a bout of cancer like mine
people must get over the me,me,me complex down there
sorry..drives me nuts..good night..poink!
night, crossy!
take care...
It would be nice if we could get the insurance company lobbyists out of the wealthy politician's pockets.
wouldn't it, though?
But then, the wealthy politicians want to continue going to their all expense paid 400 dollar an hour doctors.
yeah, I liked the plan that said we should all have the same health care that Congress gets :-)
i would give up social security if i got the same health care the politicians got
Evening all...back safely and ready to finish this grid! Hi Dawg, uusue, molly!!
Glad you're back safe Jill.
hi, jilly!
Jill, I had to back out of the earlier conversation. Is your son still in The Coast Guard?
hi jill, lbd, and all
No, he got out and is now a college student under the GI bill. He really did like it though.
Hey there harpjane!!
Good. I'm glad he's reaping the benefits of serving. That is one good thing we still have in place in this country.
Yep, and for those in after 9/11, they now have living expenses as well. Really a blessing! Of course he has now decided he can save money by being in the dorms....should be interesting..he's almost 29.
ok I am up to emission and absorption spectra, and even though I had wanted to get to the end of the chapter (5 more sections) it is time for me to go to bed. See you all tomorrow!!
niters uusue!
wont' be finishing many grids this semester, I can see...
*thunk*
oooh I see my birthstone!
*trying to remember Jane's B-day*
first day of spring, silly!

hmmmm, close to mine, must be month before...
no clue here, although I could tell you when Doug's is!
help with the au words, please?
ahhhh! got it!

au + pirates drink and plural
Since you're both on, we really do need to arrange a MT babblers meet!
Hi
Hi herin
HOw you
that would be fun, but probably not until october.
LOL, ya, me too dawg...what are you doing for work these days?
Hi herin, doing well, thanks, and YOU?
Getting better but thinks my friends are trying to kill me living out in the middle of no were. Considering when I go there I pass out dead asleep.
LOL, know that feeling well.
Seriously how comfortable is the arm above the head asleep on the wooden floor.
I had a carpeted floor, but was so tired from hiking that I slept like a log...and felt like one when I got upQ!
*up0
*up
I also sat cross legged on the floor and put my head on the arm of the chair and slept.
Or sat up right and slept. Seeing a pattern here.
not fun
I do blame the very warm wood fire for this though.
whoops, phone...brb
hi all, and holy jumping froggies i found the 10
Hi Book still no luck on that please don't spoil it
okay mum's the word 8-D
I haven't lookedc at it all yet. Still trying to shake my brainawake
(poking herin's brain with virtual stick)
Book my breakfast is defrosting on the window ceil
defrosting breakfast . . . hmmmm . . . frozen steak?
No. Crumpets. I forgot to take them out of the freezer before bed last night
ah. we call those things english muffins . . .
No muffins are different. What do you call English Muffins then?
i got 6 free eggs today, from a guy at my church who has a very small farm, and he recently got some chickens
http://tinyurl.com/3jj45ud This is crumpets what do you call them?
O yum real eggs
what we call a muffin i think you guys call a pudding or something like that. it's a little baked item, soft of like a tiny cake
checking the url, just a sec
cu 5/14, nyone?
yup, your pic is what we call an english muffin.
Then what do you call these: http://tinyurl.com/3sa34qj
i've been to england, but not australia, and listen while i watch british tv shows, and look this stuff up. like i recently had to look up "jammy dodger" which we don't have over here
hitting the tr block....*heavy sigh*
okay, your second url, that would be a roll or a bun
isn't it a crumpet?
no, there are no crumpets in ths US, only english muffins LOL
The first one was a Crumpet the second was an English muffin
sorry no cu5 here yet
cu 5?
herin, you are not speaking the president's english LOL
nm, got it
Jammy Dodgers are good biscuits. Book this was in Dr Who yes?
now, there is something that we call a miffun, but it is a small, round (as seen from the top), tall, baked item, with the top part wider than the bottom part
yes, and we don't call those (jammy dodgers) buscuits, we call them cookies. Ha ha ha!
yep, the doctor used a jammy dodger as a fake weapon, to confuse some daleks
exterminate cookies!!
so, clue for the cu5?
radioactive unit
mn, i just got it too
oh ty
Good Evening again. I'm upset with DH tonight;trying to fight off a bickering mood. How is everyone else here (distract me, please)
Hey Nef, nice to see you again
Jammy Dodger is also someone that gets out of or stays out of sticky situations
Nef tell him to stop being a burke
i'm having an unusually good day myself, hope yours gets better soon
another english word we don't have in US is pram
what's a burke (I need to know if that term would be correct)
hey all! NEF! I COOKED dinner tonight! turkey burgers and a wilted cabbage salad! BY MYSELF!! *proud mama look*
Hi Jilly! Haven't seen you in a Coon's age!
oooh! JILLY!!! *grin*
Someone that is a complete Idiot
a burke is sort of a putz, am i right? (jerk, asshole, etc)
and LADY! And GWEN!!!!
ah, not an asshole, more like a nitwit
hiya stiddy baby
*wonders how long a coon's age is in dog years*
YAY, stid! I made a delicious crab meat veggie pasta dinner and DH didn't come home to eat it! He ate at Old Chicago after a funeral visitation instead!
Do you know the story of Burke and Wills?
who me? nope!
wow Nef -- I think I would prefer the yummy pasta. (got any leftover?)
never heard of it, Herin. Burt if it means nitwit; it fits
They were two men that set out to Explore Australia but were foolish in thinking that it could be done
I do have left overs, stid. His Aunt Jean wouldn't taste it and ate some left over home-made toamto soup instead. Both my daughter and I thought the pasta was delicious
hm. I know which side of the family got the taste buds... though I know Aunt Jean is feeling poorly.
that sounds interesting herin.
only time i remember hearing the word burke was on an episode of a US tv show, spoken by an english character, written by an american who lived in england long enough to be able to write decent dialog for english characters
so, burke and wills were both nitwits?
I made the soup also; I just thought she'd try a "No thank You" helping of the pasta
At the time no white man had travelled from one tip of Aus to the other.
Foolish yes but at the time explorers doing what they did best.
guess they didn't know there was a big desert in there, huh?
Nope.
and fw...done!!
I see. Too bad! I would LOVE to try your soup/pasta/cookies/yummy salads/etc.
YAY Jilly!
YAY, Jilly!!! WTG!!!!
Nef you can cook for me
hi stid, just caught up with chat log

My leg is doing okay, stid. I just have some muscles that need strengthening yet; not ready to drive til the lateral hip muscles are strong enough
it's the yellow chemical that gives saffron its flavor I think, peach: cu + almost all of an "oceanic" word
Thanks so much, stidmama.

brb. Need to go poke some laundry into being done

Anyone need any clues before I go to bed?

tr 6/21
stid, is your first doggie named after animal, vegetable, or mineral?
Blow your tr*****, pt
tr6 is similar to the tr5 than means a group of 3, but insert another vowel in the middle
tr9= past tense of tr7...

Is there a list of Babblet's? Thanks
un + vowel + diff vowel
(i have a list of all sorts of weird words, and i keep adding to it, and now it's over 500 pages long, on the puter)
Thanks so much, Gwen
my list includes what i call word squares: words that make more words with you scramble them, for example: apse, apes, pase, peas, spae. handy to memorize them

hello mrp -- did you get my email?
Now my son and I are probably heading for Oz in early October!
hi jilli!
october is perfect!!
i haven't looked at email today, sorry darling
how long you coming for?
I sent it a couple of days ago, mrp
haven't looked yet... will log in soon
how are you jilli?
I think we'll be travelling for 2 weeks -- there's family in Canberra.
I'm fine -- but how are YOU???
am doing ok... resting up today after working yesterday
what about your leg?
my surgeon's office isn't open till tomorrow, so get to hear from her then. More tests happening
my leg is doing ok, pain meds help that!!
but my foot is all messed up
From the broken bone(s)?
and some of these words are problematic!! harder than I thought
yes, bones are breaking ... pretty much all my metatarsal bones
I'm not rying to finish -- conked out last night and was half asleep today after taking an antihistamine for a wasp bite.
whatever weakness I have from my knee/tibia, is transferring fast to my foot
oooh, hate wasps
I have a big fat middle finger on my right hand, lol!
oh mrp -- you won't want visitors in October!
sorry, phone
Hello Babblers ... jilli, I think one of my dogs was bitten by a wasp today
oh, poor dog, origami! Did you give him an antihistamine? Put ice on the bite?
him/her...
I don't even have nbt :-(
I'm reluctant to give him an antihistamine since he's one of those dogs that gets weird/spacey/strange on them ... He seems OK now, just uncomfortable
I get sleepy even on non-sleepifying Reactine
fireworks!
Mazel tov, Laura!
Thank you Neil! :o)
Hi Laura -- why the mazel tov?
if you change your mind, my vet recommends Benadryl -- had a springer years ago who was bitten by a snake -- Benadryl took the swelling right down . . .
and congrats on FW!
Hi Jill. :o)
A couple of Benadryl tablets should take the swelling down overnight, origami. Had to do that with our family dog when we were growing up, when he got stung once. Laura did that with hers too. You don't think he could handle them?
Yeah, Uneaixoise.
Thanks. That's what the mazel tov was for.
I thought mazel tov meant good luck.
Her fireworks, jillibus. It's also congrats.
Like... what good luck you've had!
ok, ty, live and learn.
My foot is strangely asleep.
I'm such a goy
oh well... we can't all be perfect. ;) [ducks to avoid a swat from someone]
*pinches Neil's foot*
That's better than what you usually do to me.
*and kicks him in the tuches*
It's Benadryl that makes him strange. He actually growled at me last time I had to give him one ... he's actually allergic to grass. I need to get the vet to give me a different prescription
Haha! :P
Oy vey iz mir... spoke too soon!
Wow, origami... personality change?
Oh that sounds a bit scary origami.
It was ... he's a foxhound/pit bull mix with a head the size of a bread box :p I don't want him taking a bite out of me!
normally a complete sweetheart
Aw.
Faux -- how is that dog of yours doing? The one with the leg problem?
hi everyone :) - checking in for the flip
