Good morning all
hello Glant
how is the grid today?
not too bad glan
I was planning to spend the day taking a drive around Llyn Brianne (a very pretty lake about 25 miles away) then on to Strata Florida Abbey then home - but the weather is poor so I'll probabl stay home and do housework instead :-(
and another lake is loaded
My lake is much hated in Wales
I spent the day revisiting Stourhead and Lacock Abbey as I work on the video of our trip -- one of the nicest days we had - Stourhead is so gorgeous
why is that, glan?
goodness gracious -- nbt/nbs!
I've never been Nan - but Strata Florida is where several Welsh princes are buried
wow, Glant, quite a story
courtesy of the English?
The lake - Llyn Celyn (Lake Celyn) was reated in the middle of the 20th century, when the governement decided to relocate the people form two village, and flood 800 acres
in order to create a reservoir to supply water to the city of Liverpool (in England)
Such interesting lakes!
The Welsh felt very strongly about it
I guess!
well done on the nbts/nbt jilli
i'm sure i've asked before but i a still confused LOL - what's the difference between nbt and nbs
tiles and stats
no blank tiles, no blank stats
ah - light bulb monnet - i am nbs
but not yet nbt
wd glan
need a u or 2 to get to nbt
145 down -- enough for tonight -- see you tomorrow :)
bye nan - and sleep well
well done nan, goodnight
now i am nbt/nbs
well done Glant
half way and saving the rest for later - have a good day and enjoy your babbling
wtg Glant, enjoy your day
back (half asleep) after kitchen duty -- only 28 words found so far, sigh, and another busy day (bridge) tomorrow
I'm doing Ometepe Coffee in the Market in the park tomorrow afternoon jilli
11:30 - 3:00 - then pack everything up and deliver it to whoever is looking after it
good for you, flosey!
11:30 isn't afternoon!
it's fun, the have a roster - made up ahead of time
things will slow down after labour day
see -- that's the thing about SSI -- people think 11:30 am is afternoon whereas to me it's early morning
almost the crack of dawn, lol!
feels that way here!
good morning !!
hello deb
hello deb
do you guys have clues for the N?
think weddings for the N, deb
thank you :)

how's everyone this morning?
and I'm falling asleep, 59 words for tomorrow, goodnight everyone
It's not morning here so I'm getting ready for bed, lol!
wd flosey and goodnight!
good night and thanks for the help. sleep well.
deb, it's rather early for you, isn't it? Or late?
i should still be asleep - 2:50 am here
That's what I figured, deb
can't sleep - so many worries in my head
Oh dear -- what worries?
I'm currently unemployed from a job I had for 12 years. I own a little house but might have to put it on the market. No insurance. No good job prospects in my area
oh, deb, that's sad!
there are some good job prospects down in Knoxville, TN where I am currently visiting old friends. the cost of living here is cheaper, but I currently live 2 miles from my 85 year old mother. So it would be really hard to leave Illinois.
Is your mother healthy?
very bad arthritis so it's hard for her to get around. and Dad died 6 years ago. But, my other sister lives about 1/2 mile from Mom.
Maybe she would enjoy TN too
she's very stubborn and won't move :)
oh well, if your sister is nearby she'll be ok. Maybe she'll visit you in TN or vice versa. Don't be tied to her. I'm 84 and don't live near any family. I have friends.
I'll be ok.... would you happen to have clues for the I in the bottom corner?
change is very scary when you 85 i think
Hi jilli, debjed, ursh.
yeah, mom has friends too. she says I have to do what's best for me. But, I'm truely scared of moving too :)

ir4/4, nice flower, I think.
The li5,10?
and hello all
hi ursh
Oh, am I wrong?
good morning. thanks for the flower :)
deb was asking for an I, not an L, neil
I guess I was. Sorry.
Oh, couldn't tell.
Sorry! It's hard to tell a capital i from a small L in here.
Yes, it's hard to see the difference here between an i and an l
and what you said too, neil
Oh well, I tried.
If you want a laugh check the joke on profile.
Jokes, even.
I'm over half way. So, I'm going to try to get some sleep. Thanks guys for the help. see you later
Sleep well.
Saw the jokes, neil...<chuckle>
Hope I haven't offended anyone with those?
Oh there you are... phew.
Never know!
hard to offend peeps here, but as you say, you never know 1
Yes. I try not to!
there are much worse words in the grid from time to time
Despite the joke line I write in my bios sometimes... "I'm actively trying to offend you."
I've had some people seriously think I'm trying to when I'm not... that's how that got started.
Yes and it's just a body part.
oh yes -- seems to me I picked that up soon after you arrived and called you neg in revenge, haha.
phooey -- hoik should be a word -- I remember being hoiked up to reach things as a kid.
Oh yeah? Don't think I've ever heard or seen that one before.
well, I had a Brit childhood
Oh, ok.
how can resit not be an aceptable word???... it this dictionary written by a failed student???
To sit again? Should be... can't one resit an exam?
rolin, see my profile for the Enabler (scroll down)
I think I've heard that.
All sorts or reasonable re words don't copunt here, and silly ones do.
*of and *count, sigh
I've noticed that.
sprite is going to hate this grid, with 14 K words
They weren't bad.
Nothing too weird.
maybe not for you, neil, but I'm just an ordinary mortal, lol
I keep telling you, I'm just a major word nerd.
I know, but I'm not!
Ok, well be glad you're not a nerd like me.
is ku 4/9 and ordinary word?
*an
It's one I've run into a lot in word games and puzzles... like Letterblox on OMGPOP and Word Racer.
maybe I'm a minor nerd in other ways
I see today's icon theme is in the grid
You run into pretty much any of the 4-letter words in those games... the trick is to just type in anything pronouncable. I get a lot of words that way that are pure guesses, and remember them.
Yes it is.
Singular and plural too.
And if you were to drink from it you could put an 's' on the front of the word... you'd be doing that to your thirst.
Not recommended for humans though.
phew -- you were talking about the la4, not the ku4!
yes!
So is the ku 4 a normal word?
Not an everyday word, no. You don't have it yet?
If you need a clue... it rhymes with that, only plural.
afternoon all :)
It sounds like what you shoot pool with.
no, I don't have the ku
Hi mrp! Nice to see you. :)
Hi mrp!
hi boys and girls!
thx neil -- got the ku -- not normal to me
Jillli: it sounds like what you shoot pool with. Plural.
Oh, ok.
How's the leg now, mrp? Any better yet?
I have said it once, I have said it twice... if not thrice... I do not like F, U, K or C words!
Haha! Had to put those letters in that order?
you should have put those in a slightly different order, mrp
Yes! Haha!
it is neil... I am able to get around without abusing people, hitting them with my crutch or having an aching bum!
"I do not like F, U, C or K words!"
jilli and neil... you know what I mean!
Oh good, mrp!
btw, that ku word has no def
Of course we do. And all I can say is tsk, tsk! ;)
yes, we do, mrp
I know, jilli... I looked for one!
is this grid 'normal'?? unlike yesterdays??
this is a mean grid, and big, too. No likee.
I didn't think it was mean?
And it's not all that big. I want a big, fat one.
Uhhh, that probably didn't sound too good.
me too!! I wanted over 300 at least
Pay no attention to the word nerd, mrp!
Yes, mrp!
Who do we complain to about this?
neil is a word nerd.. and would luv to have challenges in scrabble and hanging with friends neil
I don't have time for anything over about 175.
Oh my god, I'm a Scrabble addict mrp!
it is an automatically generated grid... no complaints to make
Are you a Lexulous member, mrp?
well! let's lexulous baby!!
I play on there and also on Yahoo sometimes.
friend on FB?
No. I don't use it.
I can happily challenge you to 3 or 4 games at a time
ah, how about hanging with friends??
I'm a Lexulous via Facebook slooow player when I get around to it. .
jilli, you are always welcome to play lex with me :)
There's a Lexulous online site too, mrp.
I have an old, empty dead page on there I don't add anyone to. I used it only for my college alumni and no one else... until I learned that any member of the public can view the full contents of any FB page. Seriously. There are web pages around with scripts enabling this. So I emptied out my FB page and I'm just waiting to get everyone moved over onto Google+ to connect with our network there.
i play hanging with friends on iphone
Then I'm deleting that FB account!
there is?? oh cool!!
mrp, I have about 9 games going and never get around to them, my bad.
Are you and Jilli on Lexulous?
Add me on there by this name.
My player name... it's my online handle for everything.
Haha! You're worse than me, jilli.
i will go look for the lexulous website then
www.lexulous.com
I was, neil, but as I said, I'm short of time and never go there now.
I'll go there now. Join and use the same name you have in here and I'll find you.
oh jilli! LOL!! that is a forced resign from you baby :((
Oh, what name do you use there... same one as here?
Are you on Google at all mrp?
ok, i will go on too... brb
on google + ??
I don't want to go to the online Lexz site, neil -- I have my reasons.
Yes, or even just Gmail?
Oh, ok?
still looking into it... I want lickety to set it up for me all proper and stuff.
Oh I can help you with that if you want. Pretty easy.
brb, going to look at the lex site
If you have Gmail I can send you an invite to G+.
Ok.
ttfn mrp -- I'll be heading for bed soon
What's cool about Lexulous is that you can play email games... we're pretty busy people so that works out better.
You get an email, well hopefully, when it's your turn to play... with a link that takes you to the game. That's when it works, haha!
on FB the game just waits for you -- also can play at one's leisure, and there are notifications by email too.
I used to use the Lex site but prefer not to now.
There are when they work... with some games, none of the notifications get sent! It's annoying.
Oh, you said FB, sorry. I misread that... thought you meant the Lexulous site.
I haven't had a problem with FB -- can always check in to Lex there to see what's up. I should do that but have been doverted lately by jigidi.com
*diverted
What is jigidi.com?
finally got on lex! good lord
A really good jigsaw site
I know, I already found and added you.
I sent an invitation to your Yahoo address.
And apparently you had an account there already?
Oh yes, jilli? Never knew about it. I'll have to check that out.
i have gmail... just need to get lickety to find it
Oh, ok. Let me know your Gmail address and I'll send an invite. G+ is still invite only.
was ruru on? I see a very suitable word for him -- pu4/6
Haha! For me too.
i do have gmail!
And my dad? You don't want to know~!
Is it the same username as Yahoo, mrp?
mrpresident1968 at gmail dot com
My dad's so bad for the puns and rotten jokes that you just want to hit him with something, a lot.
jigidi is addictive. And we can upload pix into it and create jigsaws. There are some lovely photos and other works of art there -- lots of variety.
You are hereby cordially invited, mrp.
to the PB for you neil!! *throws timtams at neil on the way to the PB*
Check your Gmail.
Whaaat?
ok
Uh oh! You're right... I said it.
[hangs head in shame]
nver mind, neil, lots of goodies in the PB
Haha! All my favorites? Chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies?
brb... children are asking me for incredible favours... won't be long
Ok mrp.
Oh yes, neil, by the ton.
Man! I'll get FAT.
they're all no-cal
But they taste like they're a bazillion calories?
sure. And some are broken, and evrryone knows broken cookies don't count
Haha, don't we wish?
Why is everything that's the most fun in life illegal, immoral or fattening?
So unfair.
morning everyone
I'm heading for dreamland -- have your Lex fun, you two -- goodnight!
hi and bye carlee -- did you ever get my message about Babble Expert?
Good night jilli. Take care.
Hi carlee.
i guess not jilli..its been a busy couple of days
You need the program?
Do you want to know about it?
I can send it to you if you want.
i have expert
Never used it myself but I have a copy of it.
Oh, ok.
good morning everybody
Morning ruby.
So can I, neil -- the link is in my profile, but I want her to know what it is and I have it handy.
no neil..u shouldnt either way...that is for lickety to send and he likes to know who has it and who doesnt...as it is his program
Well sorry!
Just trying to be helpful.
not being bitchy ( sorry if i sound that way )
OK, carlee -- but you were having trouble entering words in the chat, which shouldn't happen with Expert. Maybe you weren't using the Lickety Add box?
( that wasnt me jilli :) )
its 4 am ... i just woke up... i am not "good" with words this early
Carlee, Lickety published for everyone to use a while ago aftr he had had some server problemsor something as I recall.
I confess, it was bad Ruby but I wasn't able to install expert. I am just being much more careful these days
Wow. That's early to get up?
i appreciate it guys....but i never have "trouble" with expert...
Oh, sorry, carlee -- I thought it was.
i woke up..its stinky hot and i dont have a/c
Oh, I see.
I hope you have fans going at least?
yeap..i do :)
It's getting hot here too. I'm in LA for a few days.
Ruby, try again with the link in my bio. There had been a period (.) at the end of the link which may have buggered things up. It's removed now.
going to be high of about 95 with humidity putting it about 110 here today
ahah
how are you, jilli?
sounds like TX, carlee
( good to know is there tho jilli as i have a netbook now..would be nice to have babble expert on it too )
do you like Korean food, Neil? It's wonderful in LA
Oh man. That's bad, carlee!
( yes but its been 70 for the last month )
Yes, ruby. I spent a while in Korea this past spring.
It's not hot here, sadly. Yesterday was only 61F (16C) but today was better -- got all the way up to 20C (about 70F)
in Ѕіhеung-Ѕі.
when I used to go to LA regularly on biz trips, I always ate Korean food
Sadly? You like it hot, jilli? Not me.
I see, ruby.
I like it HOT
carlee... lickety will send you expert... just email him hun
and LA was the first place I ever had sushi
I started off in Korea, then went to Vietnam, then Thailand, Laos and finally Thailand again for the last couple of weeks. Spent my entire spring in East Asia this year.
i like it hot...
I like to swim in the sea.
Yes, but not that hot?
( I know..that is what i was planning on mrp) {{huggles}} how are you feeling
( we cant swim here in the lakes.. the beaches are posted for e.coli
you must be an oriental food expert, neil! I'm just a dilletant
just put on dinner for the masses... half a pumpkin surrounded by chat potatoes and garlic, chicken schnitzel and fetta salad
The sweltering heat and humidity in East Asia was a bit much... but swimming helped a lot. And the hotel's A/C of course.
[[MRP}}
Now I must go to bed -- goodnight again all and *poof*
Sounds good, mrp!
chat potatoes?
they should be cooking for you, mrp
the flavours I have used on the vegetables will be awesome!
hi ruby!! **hugs**
I bet. And feta salad? Yum!
well, they are in a way ruby... I am just instructing and making sure the process goes through smoothly
weren't you supposed to stay off your leg, mrp?
chat potatoes... very small potatoes...
*repoof
oh..baby potatoes....new potatoes :)
Nice *poof* at 3:20 jilli.
i am jilli! I have crutches!! (armed and ready to belt someone with) LOL!
Haha!
Re-goodnight.
Ummm, good morning now I mean.
It's now technically morning in our time zone.
4 22 am here... apparently going to be a long day
it is almost 6.30pm and these kids are gonna be fed and bed by 9! or else!
Belt someone, mrp? Uhhh, who? Oh of course. Stupid question. A certain neighbor?
here it is late morning -- breakfasted, cleaned up kitchen, dressed and waiting for delivery of tiny fridge for the garage
hmmm, yes... would luv to, but he is a fat defenseless prick... wouldn't be fair
how is hubby today ruby?
Here it is 1:23 am.
let the law deal with him
west coast neil?
Oh. Who are you planning to belt with your crutches then? Or should I even be asking that?
hi carlee ((hugs)) glad to hear all the good news darling
Yes. Just hope they do!
Yes, carelee. California.
awful -- cranky, unhappy and weird! thank for asking, carlee
thanks mrp...its about time dont u think hun????
could I borrow a crutch, mrp?
oh ruby! ((hugs))... can the doc help here?
i have two... happy to share ruby
{{ruby}} weather the storm as best u can ruby and treat yourself in little ways to get yourself through it
it sure is carlee! suck up the success and enjoy darling
we are seeing the doc on Tuesday but I don't think there's anything to be done
its goign to be a whirlwind year
*unpoof to submit this for ruby* A study has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: if she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire. No further studies are expected on this subject.
ruby, there is always something... i know it is awkward, but it will sort into something better
thank you for the big laugh, jilli! so true!
Yikes!!!
jilli! that was my post on FB!! LOL!! luv that you used it!! it is so so true!!
I like the spear in the chest, particularly!
Remind me to stay away from menstruating women!
Well I don't, ruby. No thanks!
and on fire!
I've stolen it several times, mrp -- thanks for it! Priceless!
Yeah, I don't like the idea of being on fire much either.
I never saw it before, so it was a new laugh for me
I'm not sure which would be worse?!
LOL! it is brilliant and worth the share
neil, nobody would ever do that to you......
Don't be so sure, ruby!
*re-repoof (must shut down!)
Re-re-bye-bye.
neil is sexual! and attracted to spears in chest! LOL
if i was a man, I would be gay! LOL
it is a good one MRP...i had a good laugh..i think i have decided i want a wife ... just so someone will cook and clean and take care of that side of my life for the next 2 years ( not needing sex anyway ...so i definitely dont want a house husband)
Huh? I am NOT! Ouch!
VERYBODY needs a wife!
[searches frantically for protective armor]
Good lord what has this board turned into???
i have a house husband... bloody good stuff that!
boat... the truth, that is what!
Just what I was wondering, boatierra! Help... save me from these madwomen!
LOL :)
we are women, therefore mad is part of the parcel... anything else is fake and 'hollywood'
hmmm/// a wife..no more dishes... no cleaning up after kids... she can shovel out the driveway for me in winter... clean up the yard....
Haha! I'm in North Hollywood right now.
i am amazed at watching some of these reality shows... real housewives of beverly hills etc... what is real on those women??
[for a few days]
Armor is a good start.
i dont watch that dreck
Ummm, probably not too much.
besides their bank accounts
I think so, boatierra... got some for me please?
is complete drek!
have you been reading about all the marriages broken up by those reality TV shows? I read about them, but have never seen one
LMAO
hi bean
Yes I'd like the link to this so-called "study". It seems rather rash.
hi spat :)
I can think of much better reading material.
hi :D
Without even trying.
Hi spatialbean!
Hi
hey, i turned on the tv to 'jersey shore'... OMG for sure! these people are alien to me anyway
You sure make this chog nice and colorful.
it was in the Int'l Herald Tribune
me?
Did you get the G+ invitaton, mrp?
Yes spatialbean... you. With your colorful yin-yang symbol.
tanks
And armored cars?
i watch 3 shows these days... castle, dancing with the stars ( the judges crack me up and i appreciate the work that goes into the performances ) and mythbusters.... oh...make it 4..and top gear ( jeremy cracks me up )
Armor and carry around a bottle of Pamprin in your pocket. That way if a gal begins to just turn sour you can can pull some out and go, "Here dear." Be the hero, save the day :)
I just need armor. Urgently!
i haven't looked, sorry neil... busy watching..' shut your mouth', 'I don't give a F', 'stop running your Fing mouth', 'you wanna take this outside?'... dribbling
Haha, yes!
Lovely, mrp.
Doesn't sound too entertaining.
isn't it... NOT
I hope that isn't your kids?
NO! crap on MTV
Haha! I was gonna say... they'd never do or get away with that, I'm sure.
brb... bio break... (darn it anesthetic, you are not leaving me be~!)
MTV. Oh yeah, say no more.
ok...going back to bed...to see if i can sleep some more... toodles all {{MRP}} enjoy dinner.. neil...get some sleep soon hun ( carlee gets to buy her new car today and wants to sleep a bit more so am on toes to deal with car salesman)
we don't get those shows in France; I think the "nuance" would be lost in translation
"nuance" - LOL!
Hope you get more sleep, carlee. Try to stay cool!
Fans!
sweet dreams, sweet carlee!
Uhhh, what nuance?
I'm a major word nerd too, boatierra.
:)
If you saw the word game and puzzle links I have in my G+ page you'd get an idea. ;)
good morning all
Morning.
{{sprite}}
how['s life? And the grid?
Oh, Google Plus! That only took me 30 minutes to figure out *jeez*
Yes, sorry!
But no, it only took you 2 minutes actually. ;)
interesting grid and you're almost in it!
hehehe almost in it, story of my life ;)
I have been in it. My name doesn't work though.
A good chunk of my FB friends of deserted over to G+, so one would think I would've picked up on it sooner.
mine does, if it is in the grid, but it rarely is.
Yes, of course it does.
mine was in it once (my real name, that is)
Want to join, boatierra?
I can send you an invitation if you want.
It's still invite-only, which is silly.
Tempting but no. One social media is enough for me for now. Thanks :)
Ok.
14 Ks. Jeez.
Haha, jilli said you wouldn't like that. They're not bad though.
Besides I kinda feel like bucking the trend. It's like the "thing" to go over to G+ right now so I'm gonna stick to FB.
I refuse to use FB anymore... after learning that there's no such thing as a private FB page.
did you see The Social Network, boat? It was on Fr TV this week
found them all, thank God they are all short, lol. Ks sort of shut off my brain
you found them all so fast? I as proud of myself for finding 8! :(
oh rubyfoo! Did you see... today's icon theme is in the grid. Now that I like :D
No matter how you set it, there are lots of web pages that enable any member of the public to view the entire conents of any "private" FB page. So I've emptied mine out and as soon as the remainder of my contacts there move onto G+ I'm deleting my FB account. Can't wait to do that.
Contents, even. Geez!
I always do the Ks first, rubyfoo. So I didn't look for other words in the mean time :)
It all depends on what you put on there. People just have to remember, the Internet is FOREVER. Whatever you put on the Internet, whether its FB, Babble, Amazon, etc, its there for always. So don't put something there you woudn't want the rest of the world to know. I think its pretty simple, but I guess other don't.
since I am incapable of changing my icon, I am hoping that someday it will be chows OR dogs named Max!
Good luck, I hope it works out.
Sure boatierra. But Google+ has real privacy. You can make any section of your page as private as you want and there are no hacks enabling anyone to view them if you set it privately.
you can always suggest a theme, rubyfoo :)
That's enticing.
but I can never change my icon! have tried 100 times but it will have to wait 'til son comes back....
And if you have Gmail you have a Google account already anyway... we all had profiles, and G+ just makes those existing profiles into G+ pages.
I take the Chows... dogs named Max may not work too well here, grinnn.
seaspray's beloved deceased dog was named Max, too
awwww
I thought of a fun theme... but it's probably been done at some point.
if it is fun, I don't mind repeating it.
For everyone to post a photo of themselves as a child... has that ever been done?
yes, but it is some time ago. Will put it up, I always like pictures like that.
The younger, the better. I have one of me as a toddler that's pretty funny. I'm hanging onto a tree.
Oh cool. Thanks! That would be fun to see.
I had a Gmail very briefly not long ago and what really creeped me out was when Google asked for my phone # to confirm the account and my finger had barely left the last digit on my keyboard when Google called me to confirm the # and my new email address. Phone rang I freaked!
that is creepy indeed, boat
Ya, I don't have the Gmail anymore. Just stick to my Yahoo :)
Weird, boatierra. I know they've been doing that sometimes lately. I never had to enter one when I made my first Gmail account several years ago. Then I made a second one because I was using the first one for all my business and school/college email. The newer one is just for personal use... family and friends. I wasn't asked for it with the second account either... but I now have an Android phone so of course Google have all of my contact info now. They've asked some other people I know for a phone number just for registering a new email account... not sure why?
Oh I find Gmail much better than Yahoo mail.
I get enough telemarketers (sorry, I don't speak French, hahah) so would never give out my phone number
I have a Hotmail address on profile, but that account downloads via POP3 access into my Gmail.
'Cause they want your phone number? And its an easy way to confirm that its a real person setting up the account rather than a computer setting up the account.
I don't have any pestering me, ruby.
Yes, I guess that's one reason they do it... not sure if it's the only one though.
you are lucky, neil, I get several a day, mostly orientals speaking heavily accented French
they are nonplused when I say "Hello hello. Who is this?"
lol rubyfoo, my husband is terrific with them. He always asks questions back. "What kind of toothpaste do you use?" "But you DO consider your teeth of the utmost importance, don't you?" "Why don't you want to answer that?" Etc. It drives them crazy.
Is the French at least good?
it's very funny because they probably speak English but are so surprised that they hang up
there, icon themes updated.
Ugh, I must retire head to pillow. Long day in a few hours. Thanks all for the conversation. Boa noite ;)
bye boat
sleep well, bo
Good night, boat.
122 words and taking a break
bfn rubyfoo
fun conversation! bye neil and sprite {{hugs}}
Bye for now ruby.
And sprite.
bye neil
bye neil! see you on G+
hi sprite!!
how you going sweetie??
hey mrP :)
a little bit better than yesterday :) How are you?
neil invited me to G+... just joined up... now I have to look into G and FB :))
lol
same sprite, a little better than yesterday too
wtg gal! *high 5*
**high 5 babe**
i scabbed a lift off my neighbours to the local shops... was great to get out! lickety has been at RFS all day for the last couple of days (rural fire service) getting accreditation... so needed to make do with my situation
scabbed = bludged = begged = asked for = nice neighbours
it is so aussie to say scabbed to describe 'asked for'
then you did very well and wise, to scab a lift and get out for a bit!
thanks for understanding my language!
lol I am learning, every day, on babble. You guys educate me.
it is totally aussie wording!
i think in england they say 'bludged'...
bludging means getting something for nothing
I like aussie. I sometimes chat on TS during a game and a couple of the guys are Aussies. I love it.
scab in aussie means asking for help without rebut
oh that is great sprite! aussies tend to be laid back and relaxed with the world!
*don't know what my excuse is!* lol!
am happy you had a good time and got out of the limited world of home. It is so important. I hope I will get myself ready for that... have decided to start Monday.
yessss! Very laid back. A pleasure to chat with.
oh terrific sprite!
you don't need an excuse to be you. It is what you are here for :D
go slowly, go spirited and enjoy the luv
spirited and sprited :D
indeed! luv ya
:) and vv
well, we can have maximum fun in a minivan! and able to say 'hey' from a million miles away without needing to know anymore than a name
Oh I'm still here, mrp. Just thought ruby was going.
I just welcomed you on G+. You've been announced.
sprite... I hope all is going well darling, I really do... care about you deeply
totally true, mrP :)
oh thank you neil!! what a sweetheart you are!
Aww. You're welcome mrp!
(((mrP))) I'll make it happen, I will. Even if it takes me the rest of my life, lol. Same goes for you, we just don't give up, hun. Pitbull ladies ;)
You have a lot of interesting expressions we don't use, mrp. I'll have to learn them all.
indeed sprite... survival is our best and favoured option!
lol that is what I always say: sometimes life is a bitch (with puppies), but the alternative is worse.
neil, if you are feeling a luvfest here... sprite and I have been through a shitload... we prop eachother and sometimes fight and luv and give and receive... all part of being a family
I want puppies!!
I see, mrp. Nothing wrong with that... ever.
in a way, we are very close, mrP and I.
sprite had her demons with father, I have demons with mother... we are SURVIVORS!! in the most amazing way
and our children are amazing for the experiences we have had.
aren't they just!
incredible really... we have raised beautiful families... even with these bastards telling us we were nothing
(as an aside: hot + ke/10 doesn't work. Stupid enable)
Aww. Sorry to hear that. Some people's parents make me appreciate mine sooo much. They divorced in 2002 [the year i turned 18] but it was very amicable and they're still good friends... so it wasn't too bad. Heck, my mom and my dad's g/f are even good friends! Isn't that a little unusual?
we are everything, to someone... to those that matter, those that count, those that are brilliant and loving and true to heart
it is unusual, but wonderful if people can make that work. Makes for less wounds allover.
you are lucky neil, and also blessed to have good and decent parents!
my kids are all those things I just mentioned
Yes, exactly. I remember going to dad's with mom and my brother, the first time mom met dad's g/f. We wondered how it would go. They went off for a stroll together, talking. At the end of the day mom turned to my brother and I with a big smile on her face and said "Don't you just love her?" We laughed and he said "Wow... that went well!"
now just to move from surviving to living... that is a process.
Yes, I sure am.
moving forward is the key sprite... life goes on... we just need to keep moving and living and loving and FEEL WE BELONG!
I'm sure it is. But like mrp says... moving forward, which enables you to leave the past BEHIND. It's a lot of work and a real process though.
Neil, it is not so great for some of us... I envy you and adore that you have that in your family too! good on you and the love of your parents
yep that is the most important part, isn't it. Feeling we belong, that we deserve a place on this world.
yep... that is the hard part
when you have been abused to the point of 'uselessness' it is hard to feel you belong
Yes, I have good parents who love us and are always there for us... I feel very blessed.
well I trust I have travelled a long way in that process and should be able to glimps the end sometime soon.
I bet it is. :( I have a friend who is suffering the effects of that.
I have acheived so much in my life... amazing things that make people's eyes roll with amazement, but if a parent abuses you, it takes it all away
I bet, mrp. You amaze me already.
mrP is a heroin :)
still, I know what I have acheived, and have to remind myself that cause I did it, my kids can do it 10 times more!! and will always be proud and supportive
oh sprite! you are!! you have come so far with me... we are both amazing!
I think the worst part is, the people that matter in our lives do feel we belong, they do see our achievements and are proud and supportive - but we find it hard to believe.
ok, number one son is here... about to close my computer ... am joining my family for dinner (he just farted!) and see you all in a little while! Oh family! they are the best!! bbs **hugs**
tell him hi from me :) And enjo7y.
Yes, that's exactly what my friend I mentioned goes through. Everyone else sees how beautiful and lovable she is.. but she can't believe it. :(
And she automatically puts herself down... like it's such an engrained habit now. :(
nope. The foundation on which to build that believe is lacking. And building that ourselves is very hard and time consuming. But it can be done.
Ugh mrp... gas mask! Haha.
Yes, by repeating positive affirmations instead of negatives to yourself... what you tell youself over and over, you end up believing.
I'm not living up to my online name, am I?
ah yes, it is a habit too. Which is often the first thing we can change... a bit like fake it till you make it... change the behaviour, even though it feels forced... and the feelings will follow, because the thoughts are taking a different road.
I hope you don't, neil.
The name is a joke, sprite. There's a bit of a story to it.
And yes, I think that's exactly how it is... but live as you mean to go on.
am glad for you it is a joke. Always find stories behind names and nicks interesting.
Well I don't know how interesting it is. My first job out of college was in the offices of a newspaper in San Jose. I couldn't stand my work environment and some of my co-workers just drove me nuts. So I had to vent, somehow. I started blogging about it, just to do that... and I kind of thought it was funny, because I was bitching and complaining all the time in those blogs. Also, my blood type is negative and I'm a photographer... negatives. Although I shoot with a digital camera now of course.
I think that old blog had about 5 readers, haha!
that is a nice story. Very apt handle, especially for the purpose back then.
Yeah I guess. It just stuck ever since.
yeah that is often how it goes, isn't it. We grow attached to such things.
Well it seemed to fit, it worked and people got used to it, including me.
we've had one or two babblers who changed their nickname. I noticed it was hard for me to get used to the new one, I was kind of attached to their first.
Oh yes? Guess that would take some getting used to.
yes it took some time before I just accepted their name. At first I saw the new name, had to do a backtrace, then think the old name, lol
Yeah, I'd probably keep forgetting who they were at first.
which is quite different from real life for me. As soon as somebody changes his or her appearance, I seem to be used to it. Other people say: did you see her new glasses or his new haircut, and I think... hell no, never noticed, just thought they looked great.
Oh yeah? Here's a sneak preview btw.... if you do that childhood photo theme: http://tinyurl.com/3askuz6
I'm the little guy in red overalls.
just thought you'd be the red one. Sweet :)
Haha, thanks.
Well I'm not ginger with freckles, so yes.
yeah and dark eyes
Yes.
My hair was lighter then than it is now... but that's pretty normal with kids.
my kids were white blonde when they were small. They are very dark blonde now. Almost brown. I was chestnut when small and now almost black (with a lot of white nowadays)
That's quite a change.
it runs in the family. My father was a sailor early in his life and they called him the silver gull (?) because of his hair colour. I have only known him as very dark brown.
Us again, a little older: http://tinyurl.com/3ep2vua
Oh? Interesting.
aww such happy faces :)
I guess I should scan some pictures for the theme... still have time.
Me with my mom last year... I was being a goof, which is why she's laughing: http://tinyurl.com/3o3dyy6
beautiful woman
Well you can't see her that well there... this one's a little better: http://tinyurl.com/3hzvxty
http://tinyurl.com/3hzvxty
I don't look quite so goofy either.
Can't tell I'm her son much, can you?
[yes, that's sarcasm]
lol, that is called fishing
Huh?
for compliments :)
No. I just think it's funny that I kind of look like a young, male version of her. I look nothing like my dad. You wouldn't even think we're related to see us together, haha!
isn't that interesting, how we can look like one parent and nothing like the other? My son is the spitting image of his father. But recently I noticed his feet are just like mine.
Yes! Check it out... family photo, with all 4 of us. Mom has her hair lightened here, of course: http://tinyurl.com/45x53q8
Would you think I'm my dad's son? We don't look related at all!
don't you have your eyebrows from your dad? Looks that way?
hi kids
hiya dJean
I don't think so? I don't know who I get them from. Maybe I'm a throw-back to an ancestor.
Hi Jean.
hi spritey
hi neil, don't know you but enjoyed looking at your pics
anyway, you look like a happy and beautiful family.
Haha, uhhh... thanks!
Yeah, I wouldn't trade them. ;)
:)
back from dinner (yum)! hi jean!
Hi mrp!
wb mrP :)
I'll bet it was good?
i like your negativeneil expression... i have the same for my handle... is related to my life
What do you mean, mrp... what/which handle?
EspritdJean and I are a bit related ;)
it was! i halved a pumpkin... disected it somewhat and added vinegars, rosemary and tomato... the flavour was so good! kids don't usually eat pumpkin, but they ate it up!
hi mrp :-)
my mrpresident handle
sounds delish
sprite....we are related? are you sure you want people to KNOW that? ;-p
i get mr.p, and many were confused why i called myself the male of the name... but it was another story to the name
As if this isn't the icing on the cake... the old blogs I told you about, sprite? I had them posted in my own website on my own domain. A hacker broke into it and deleted it all on me and stole my domain name. I've since reposted several of those blogs on my Google Blogger Blogspot... but what a pain!
hehehe yeah we often have people realising you and Lickety are a couple, and then thinking you are the male and Lickety a woman.
jean and sprite are related!!? tell us please
oh wait, I get it sprite
jeezzz how awful, neil
just a play with letters, mrP. Esprit = Sprite
Uh oh... I hope I'm not related to anyone here? Got enough nuts in our family tree already! [ducks]
nasty stuff neil
Oh yes, sprite!
ah, indeed! rearrange the letters... perfect
Haha, still waiting for one of you to swat me for that.
nah not going to happen. We are proud to be nuts. Fruitcakes. Very healthy.
you have to be nuts to be on babble baby
Yes mrp, it wasn't fun.
Haha, ok!
hey, nuts are people too
Sure. Being nuts is more fun than being 'normal'.
exactly dJean :D
Especially at 3:33 am! Geez.
Think I should sleep before the sun comes up?
nobody is normal... they are ordinary or extraodinary
Or just plain nuts.
go sleep neil... goodnight songs and lullaby to send you off
so mrp did you cruise my FB page?
Actually some are batshit... but that's another matter.
nice time of the day. And when you sleep is up to you, we take all kinds here, lol.
i did jean! we are very similar... truth and justice... perfect
You're going to sing me lullabyes?
rock-a-bye neilly, on the tree top... when the bough breaks the eyelids will drop....
we are great at singing lullabyes here
I think I need some to help calm me down after those threats from those crazy women earlier, haha!
or we could read Neil the new bedtime story "Go The F* to Sleep"
I'm still sitting here in armor... with a fire extinguisher!
hahahaha!! excellent jean!
neil, you were threatened?
That would be something I'd understand better, Jean.
sleep well dear neil forget how you feel forget what you think dive in the dream pool and sink....
Oh yesss, Jean. It was terrible.
it was in jest to all men jean
what happened?
it is posted on my wall and jilli reposted it here
Haha! Got her all worried now.
They were gonna set me on fire, Jean!
an alleged study on what women find attractive in a man during their 'cycle'
lol sprite, instant poetry
my forte ;)
I see that. You're a poet and you know it.
oh are we still talking about a good man?
oh, that would be the one where the man has a meat cleaver in his skull?
Haha! Good timing, carlee... we weren't until just how again.
Similar Jean, similar.
I used to make personal songs for my children. They still remember. They are now 13 and 15 and resolutely forbid me to make another, lolll.
i still want a wife...so much for sleep...i baked a cake
hiya carlee :)
hi ya sprite :)
same here sprite... they remember it all :)
hi carlee :)
carlee I think Rosie O'Donnell is available
hi hun
Haha! Run, carlee, run!
poor carlee, sleepless outside of seattle. I'll marry you if you like, I think I'd love your cakes and we could chat all night when not sleeping ;)
no thanks EJ... too much baggage there
rosie is scary!
yes she is
Yep.
anyone a Curb Your Enthusiasm fan here?
i just want someone to cook and clean and do laundry...shovel the driveway...all the crap i used to do
Found it for you in the chog archive, Jean: jillibus *unpoof to submit this for ruby* A study has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For example: if she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his chest while he is on fire. No further studies are expected on this subject.
LOLLLLL
ok, yes I have seen that before Neil
rubyfoo I like the spear in the chest, particularly! 3:28 am negativeneil Remind me to stay away from menstruating women! 3:28 am negativeneil Well I don't, ruby. No thanks! 3:28 am mrpresident and on fire! 3:28 am jillibus I've stolen it several times, mrp -- thanks for it! Priceless! 3:28 am negativeneil Yeah, I don't like the idea of being on fire much either. 3:29 am rubyfoo I never saw it before, so it was a new laugh for me 3:29 am negativeneil I'm not sure which would be worse?! 3:29 am mrpresident LOL! it is brilliant and worth the share
oh god yes, the duct tape most of all. I often tell my love: whatever you say, I will hate it, because I am in that MOOD!
Uh oh!
ok..i am going to throw a brick through my tv in a second...9-11 and all the freaking muslims are BAD and evil...and YAY... lets put out a colouring book about 9-11
<facepalm>
i am not watching any of the 10 year anniversary... was bad enough watching it live on tv.
Yes mrp, exactly.
my tv will be OFF!
oh god, I so hate that. When people here are doing that, I always tell them that talking about THE BAD MUSLIMS is the same as talking about THE BAD JEWS.
or bad christians....
( thinking of the whole ireland thing here )
I'm a Jew.
yeah, because we have this relatively recent history of the nazis and the Jews, it tends to make sense to people.
as a pilot... i was just crying... all those people... we do everything to protect them and then that?? using a plane as a bomb... can't watch it again
doesnt make sense in israel tho....they have "ghetto'ed" the palestinians...
all this THEM and US shit is such nonsense and leads always to pain and suffering. I have rarely met anyone in my life who, after learning to understand him or her, was still someone I could hate.
it is very hard to watch over and over again, wrenching
anyway...gone to deal with cake... and shower... and get some more "wifey" stuff and i am no longer a wife..sheesh....
Carlee, I just posted a lot on G+ about something I'm most unhappy with Israel for. I'm not blindly loyal no matter what... and wrong is wrong, even if the military in the land of my ancestors commits it. I'm disgusted and very depressed about it.
*hugs carlee*
Yes mrp, Jean... it was very upsetting.
( Neil, i dont agree with what "palestinians" do...but nor do i blame them for what is happening..given the conditions they live in..i KNOW palestinians living in palestine and the horrors... it sickens me that one israeli life is far more important than 10 or 20 or 100 palestinians..like they are a disposeable commodity
see ya carlee ... take is easy hunny
i have dark chocolate and pink champagne... anyone want to join me??
so true, carlee. They are people. We all are. That should be the first and foremost thing to consider. Not a race or colour or belief system or whatever.
at 7 am... i'll take the chocolate..but i will pass on the champers...
sounds good to me, mrP. Can I, at 13.00? Sure I can.
It sickens me too, Carlee. That's just wrong.
*brings fresh strawberries*
ok...and..on this cheerful note... back to my pig cake that i have renamed to an orange tropical dream cake...
and hybiscus flowers!
lol carlee :D Sounds more attractive.
( given its for an eid pot luck dinner...i sure hope so :) )
they will love it, carlee. They love everything you bring, and yourself most of all.
well the feeling is mutual... i have a blast....( blond white chick sitting witha bunch of arabs and pakistanis....arabic flying over my head...and amazing food :) )
~~~~<------ carlee waving as she heads out the door
Ok, I've really gotta crash. Don't want to be in a grumpy mood and trying to sleep until noon when my brother and his b/f get up today. I like to be a better houseguest than that!
and with that you are doing more for world peace than all those hatemongers making the 9/11 programs together.
So take care everyone... see you later!
sleep well, neil, and have a lovely day with your brother and his love.
neil, sleep well! see ya hun
bye carlee! enjoy the night babe
{{hugs}} Neil. mrp sprite
( so glad i saw my lucky charm before buying a car... now i know my car will be a good thing ;) )
lovely, carlee :)
i need to hit the sack myself... tired and basically tired. GN all and keep up the luv!
nn mrP, sleep well and dream even better ;)
nite nite :)) hugs!
Is that really what it's all about?
I killed the chog.
That's what I always heard.
Melvin Udall: Is this as good as it gets?
So a mystic goes up a mountain and meditates for 40 years and comes out with the ho5 poky???
100 words. NBT and NBS. Good place to stop. *poof*
Peggy Lee: is that all there is?
Sam Goldwyn: "Include me out."
oddly enough, I think I followed that whole last 20 minutes with no problem! ;p
Hi Rbud
good morning, clue for the n plz?
That's good because I didn't quite.
Formal name for marriage and plural
Howdy! It's too early for me, but it was too hot to sleep properly, so here I be.
Oh that's miserable rbud. Hope it cools down soon.
ty, Molly, was trying to spell it wrong! doh
I have that, Molly, nu 7 and 8
Hi dawg :)
Hiya, Annie!
Molly, do you have the ul8...I dont have it
? Is that not the clue Dawg asked for?
dawg, nice to see you at this time of day
yes, she did
Miss Chase is in the grid...il4
well, the ul8 might be what I was suffering from all night, and it's not what I'd call a real word. Super not cold.
gotta go to work but was up ea5, so thought i'd come to babble. It's good to see you too, Annie
rbud, thanks!!!
rbud, ty!!
that doesn't seem right, should be two words and also too ul5 modern for Enable, I'd think, lol!
i hate those non-words
and it seems like ul8 should be hyphenated..non-word indeed
darn K's aren't cooperating, either. :P
K's are as bad as re's
amen to that! add y's to that list too
and while we are at it...any word starting with a vowel
and the double vowels!
rbud has been in the PB for while and we didn't even notice. too sleepy.
rbud, come out of there..ul 8 gave you a free pass
quick, what'd I say, might be one I don't have, lol!
That is a word?
You said ea5.
What you got up too.
drat, had it. :P
nbt nbs in 7 minutes! hello all
hi peri
morning, peri
but that was one I got back nearer the flip, had forgot it was a word, haha.
Hiya, peri! good work!
Name that big swiss furniture store...
Ikea
ding ding ding
Swedish, not Swiss, Kap
OOOPS. I apologize to the Swedes and the Swiss.
And the Italians and the Vietnamese too, while I'm at it.
lol
The folks in Old Amsterdam do it, not to mention the Finns...
Folks in Siam do it
Think of Siamese twins...
Argentines without means do it
they say in Boston even beans do it...
I'm sorry, but I love Cole Porter.
Kap, I was dancing around the room
birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it...
The only lyricist we have now who even approaches the wordplay is...
let's do it, lets fall in love
don't hit me for this...
Eminem.
(Ducks for cover)
dont know his lyrics
3/4th done, must get ready for work. bbl. hagd eveyrone!
Too lengthy to quote...and I don't know him as well as Porter
bye dawg, have a good day
Know what you mean, Kaplan, I've been impressed by some stuff Em has done, if ya just listen, it's pretty witty. And I'm over 50, even, hate to admit I've listened.
The boy has talent.
I love "I need a little controversy/ because it feels so empty without me"
and I get a hoot outta some of the videos, especially when he's playing most all the parts, lol
reminds me of Weird Al only much classier.
I feel so validated.
Going to see the new version of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess today at the ART.
It's controversial because there were some changes made to the characterizations, but I think it's probably stronger for it.
hi kids, one more vote here for Eminem (and I do love Cole Porter, too!)
Yes!
kap, what changes?
Here's another Porter favorite
hi jbv :)
life is good .... Little House marathon today and Walton's marathon tomorrow
Ah, hours and hours of Pa Ingells and John Boy
just like Andy Griffith, can never get too much of them
mm waffles - we have a waffle machine but I need a decent recipe
Any waffle recipe is good if you separate the egg yolks from the whites and beat the whites until stiff. That gives you light and fluffy waffles.
au6?
morning Shirlockc, I don't have it but will help you look
Like a bracelet on your leg, but different second letter
Hi! I'm still at it...
Hi all
hi
Hi Babblers
clue for the o?
ahoy aloy!
hi kje.. thinking of clue.. he p**** someone in the eye accidentally
ty!
Good clue Aloy!
glad it worked (-:
il 4.8 is an adj. that means "each"? newbie to me!
ty
morning, all!
hi sue
Hello Sue!
And good morning friends!
hi, car!
hi car
Hello Aloy!
Hi Car, Hi Sue
i need food... bbiab
hi, molly and aloy!
Hello Molly!!!!
la4.9 is "the sum of one hundred thousand"... where have I been all my life? never heard of that one either
il 4/8 was a new one for me too Aloy
phew, glad I'm not the only one Molly.. have never used that or heard anyone else do so.. maybe it is an antiquated word
Aloy, I think it's because we haven't counted rupees in a while. Ya think? : )
Read the Scots authors; esp Bobby Burns
The la4/9 that is
good to know for Scrabble tho (-:
ah, one hundred thousand *rupees* - that makes more sense (it has that eastern ring to it)
Oh I just knew there was something on my to do list that I had forgotten. Read Scots authors.
.. making note of that, ty rasta
now that I think about it, I actually know a Scottish folk song that has il4/8 in it - never knew what it meant, though
Scrabble is a blast
.. and ra4.8 (one of them) .. is a "turkish liqueur".. inquiring minds want to know
Clue for ai5
did the bride make it down the ai5?
The deil cam fiddlin' thro' the town, And danc'd awa wi' th' Exciseman, And il* wife cries, "Auld Mahoun, I wish you luck o' the prize, man."
Nice poetry
nice rasta!
ha! nbs and nbt (needed to look at lickety to see that there was an nu7 and an nu8 but then found them by myself :-)
Yeah uusue!
wtg, sue
hi all, just back from my walk. my goal was to walk to the food pantry and back and I did it! thought it would take me an hour and it took me 50 min. not sure how many steps.miles since I don't have a pedometer
I always want to spell those nu words the way they are pronounced.
good for you, peri!!
good for you, peri
thanks
Great job Peri!!!!
About 2000 steps in a mile Peri
Oops, never mind, that wasn't what you said.
good to know Molly
How long did you spend in the food pantry or did the 50 min just include walking time? If so, I bet you walked almost two miles
I volunteer at the food pantry on Mondays. just wanted to see how long it would take me.
You could measure the distance with the odometer in your car next you drive it.
it was just the walking time
I could indeed, Molly
I don't drive the exact route but it is about the same
but I could drive the route I walked today
ok, time for breakfast! I think we will go to the arboretum today - lots of walking there (they have 16 miles of trails!)
The average person walks a mile in 20 minutes.
not that I could walk 16 miles, but there is a lot of it we haven't done yet
Wow! enjoy sue!
sounds great, sue.. have a lovely day
if you're curious, here's their web site: http://www.mortonarb.org/
I do not like K words.,
it started as an estate that belonged to the Morton of Morton salt; they've expanded since then
or V words
yes, k words rank right up there with words that begin with vowels, peri (including the sometimes vowel)
(now I really am going, have a great day, all!!!)
agreed re vowel words espec those that start with two vowels
wow, I only just now noticed the ke4 seaweed and pl, duh
ty rbud
yw, but I can't believe I haven't seen those all night, lol
now I know what the mark on the forehead of Hindus is called.. a ti5.18, am learning a lot this grid! (now, to remember.. )
k
hello everybody
Hey Ruby
here, they plant mums on the graves for All Souls' Day, 1 Nov
's really lovely at our local cemetery
dinner is cooking, it's raining softly, all is OK for the moment!
hi ruby - just found a french word, just for you re 6
hello jbv, looking for some Fr monkeys.....
Good to hear Ruby. People in the States plant mums as Fall approaches. Not my favorite flowering plant, but I put in a few.
I put asters in the upper part of the garden and they migrated, on their own, down to the foot of the fig tree. I love when plants do that
I think it means network - my grey cells are a little rusty
Ruby cherche les singes
gm
hi kje
Hi KJE
vi7?
*pops out of lurker mode.."hi kje!".. pops back into lurker mode*
There is no vi7
lurkers.... so annoying ; )
vi6?
wow, just lost it all for a minute!
that's lurkers.. not stalkers
hi kje and ruru
Ah, describes a big, burly man.
stalkers are fun...
haven't had a stalker for a long time......
can keep you on your toes ; )
must be getting old, hahah
hi and nbt
gm, josh
Well Ruby, you could make up a story about having a stalker. It would be oh so dramatic!
thx molly
I am about the last person to be dramatic -- even when I was young!
*coughs*
small, quiet and, maybe, deadly!
you are a lousy lurker, ru
au6?
Yes, you have to watch out for the small, quiet ones.
ruru???? no, he's not really here
*provides background sounds*
ah, must be a delusion...
guard those husbands, hahahah
au6 ends like the jewelry you wear on your wrist.
I think ruru is more of an allusion
ty
I don't get the jewelry clue
I love the rain!!!!
ruru: like the small southern hemisphere bird
au + consonant + fi*** mignon
thanks for dumbing that down for me molly
*back to lurking*
Always a pleasure Ru
hahah ruru
ho7?
ruby, I remember learning the hard way that mums in France were NOT a nice "general" gift!! LOL
too true! une
ah, don't go ru!
Oh Lord, are they in the US?
who you callin' a ho?
lurkig is bad for your health
hi again, all!
ho7...extend the ho 4/5
I am cooking and dinner smells good, for a change, lots of garlic
Hi Sue
dam, thought i tried that - ty
garlic is always good
what are you making ruby?
hello sue. do sunflowers and brocollini share the fibonaci spiral?
probably, ruby, although I would have to look it up to be sure - it is very common in things that form natural spirals
for dogs, the usual mixed-meat risotto. For me and husband, pork chops, brocollini pre-cooked, then sauteed w/garlic, HEINZ BAKED BEANS (yay), and rice
I thought it was a fibonacci sequence
I love to look at those spirals and once did a very detailed sunflower drawing before I knew about Fibonaci
I thought fibonacci was a gay piano player
aaah, that molly is much smarter!!!!!
same thing, molly, the spiral grows in a way that can be described by the Fibonacci sequence
and ruru is much funnier!
al 4/5 plz
the Liberace sequence is a little different :-)
hello ivesey
Mountains Ivesy
the mountains ivsey
... mountains in France and Switzerland
starts with a candlabra and a white suit
oh geez.... ty and hi all
Ivesy gets bombarded with clues
I live in them and didn't see the al duh
aint no mountain high enough.. aint no mountain high enough..
how do you spell that, anyway?
*back to lurking mode*
aint no river deep enough
t-h-a-t
lol.. love the clues !
no, aint no ocean deep enough, aint no river wide enough
woooo wooo
oh, that sue, another, smarta**
D-i-a-n-a R-o-s-s
hi everyone, I might have to turn the chat off you're far too distracting lol
sorry, I couldn't help myself
you're all still having lunch; I'm on my pre-dinner martini!
breakfast, actually
and hi, vanilla!
foo - i just finished breakfast
I bought myself a Michael Jackson best of CD today. I think dancing would be more fun than walking
I'm having vanilla bean waffles and vermont syrup
hi vanilla
my nectarines are finally ripening
Lunch time here Ruby, we eat breakfast earlier than this.
but all at once, of course, so now I have to figure out what to do with them
in a minute
i had eggs scrambled with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, tomato, and chives
climbing mountains and crossing rivers with Liberace while I'm trying desparately to climb into words
must go and feed the troops, see you later
"Can't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" one of the best dance songs ever.
umm.. I should stalk you more often kje
bye, ruby!
i ate breakfast after my team workout sessio which was from 0530-0730... but too hot to eat for awhile so just finished
I had cereal with yogurt and my home-grown nectarines
good morning to you good morning to you good morning dear babblers good morning to you
on Saturdays, husband has egg-0white omelette with 3 kinds of hot peppers and onions and we both have veal sausages. I have 2 egg yolks and toast
oh nice sue! a fruit tree!
do you think God is punishing Texas with heat because of Rick Perry?
i had a couple of cups of coffee mmmmmm
How is your hiking preparation going KJE?
ok, now I feel like a slug, no exercise for me today (yet - we do plan to go to the arboretum) - slept in and am having a late breakfast
LOLOL ru!!! that is what I want to say whe idiots here say that about DC or nyc
{{jmc}} (even though I know you don't like hugs. I'm in a happy mood, enjoying the soft rain
I had a major stomach upset a few hours ago. Its all gone!
actually texas has a history of droughts (so easily forgot when the state is full of newcomers/0
going well, moll... did 7 miles this am at about 13 minutes/mile
hi all
my son is suffering in Austin!
hello fellow babblers whilst you guys are talking about food may ask our cousins from across the pond what is grits? is it what i would know as porridge
Oh wow KJE, that is great. Good for you.
that's okay i can bear up under a virtual hug
I actually have a lot of fruit trees (on a very small city lot) - peaches, nectarines, apples, pears, cherries (little sour ones), quince, pawpaw, persimmon...
grits are hominy
Kind of porridge. Cornmeal porridge.
no mosh - made from hominey... closer for you would be polenta
no it is not porridge it is cooked dried hominy
hi, jmc!
but b
but they are grittier
hominy is field corn treated with lime which transforms the sugar in the corn to protein
argh got it thank you
and I don't think that heat in Texas has anything more to do with Rick Perry than hurricanes in Florida have to do with gay people
It's goopy, gritty stuff.
wow.. bows to jmc's knowledge of grits
hi and bye mosh; ruby hates to leave this group!
the only thing i have eaten that is similar is ugali which is common in east africa--dare say that is what brought grits to the u.s.
i love grits
you cannot change sugar to protein
I'm not sure about that UU
im off to NYC in a week and it is on the hotel breakfast menu just wondered what it was, bye ruby
*Was waiting for that sugar to protein comment*
then why was there an even worse drought in texas when i was 4? i believe the governor was shivers
I'm sweet as sugar and I'm a protein
grits in NYC? What is the world coming to?
how odd for it to be on a nyc breakfast menu since it is a very southern dish
you are delectable
*cough cough cough cough*
:D
dam, almost choked o that one
nyc usually has hash brown potatoes in that place
the heats getting to that poor girl
i am surprised you let them soak you in lime ru was that for the knee?
best grits movie scene....the one in the diner in "My cousin Vinny"
yes jeff.. that one is hysterical
ha! jeff
yes jmc.. it changed my mojo to a mojito
oh the thought of that movie makes me sad it was the last one i saw with my criminal lawyer hubby but it made us both laugh
ahem not that kind of lime ru--the rock not the fruit
Marissa Tomei was incredible in that movie
*took artistic license on the lime joke*
Not to be confused with Lyme Disease
haha i just thought you didn't know
any clues for the 8s?
i remember the presenter at the oscars saying that it was the first time 5 foreign actresses were nominated for best oscar.....4 from England and one from Brooklyn
maybe lime is good for removing fish smell? (remembering a scene involving lemons in the movie Atlantic City)
ul8 is very warm
sure.. the workers are out in the fields squeezing lime juice on corn..
another great scene
I have an nu 8 that is a plural of an nu7
one more reason to make me fall in love with susan sarandon
You put the lime in the corn and you mix it all together
citrus oils are good at cutting other oils so i think probably so uu
i say doctor i say doctor!
I love Susan Sarandon too.
ul 8 is two words, surely
thx, jeff, I had forgotten who the actress was
need clues for the nu 8 sue please
ul8 is a bogus word
sure is
Clue for al 5
yw
Hi jmc
theres 3 al5's in a row middle one is get up
hi boo
Nm got it
sry that ar there are no al5's
I must be doing an alternative universe grid. No al5's here.
i wondered about that clue vanilla ty for clarifying
*checks what vanilla is drinking*
look for the phone booth molly
nothing after my stomach upset, just a cuppa tea
ginger tea is best for an upset tummy
I have thee strange bouts, on for young and old for a few hours and afer that I'm fine
have you had that checked out .. IBD.. or krohn's ?
*seconds the recommendation for ginger tea*
stats for the o please
good idea ru
ok4/8
o dear, I've had them for years, every few weeks usually at night, doc can't find anything
ty uu
hmm..stress related? Vanilla?
celiac?
nbt
you see thats what the doc comes up with too but it isn't.... I think
gluten intorlerance
which, vanilla?
what's nbt?
been through the gluten thing too and that made no diff
it means that i have gotten a word from each of the tiles
hi sapphire and welcome to bedlam. . . i mean babbleland
ah, ok thanks!
No Blank Tiles...NBT
I am going to have to list.. I'm running out of steam
have you been babbling long sap?
aha! i always wondered haha
you lose the tile stats after two weeks sapphire, you need to come up with the money which is for a good cause
nope, not too long, just a few weeks
it keeps this babble going
actually it buys Dr God a new car every few months
it is the best money you can spend on the internet
LOL
and its cheap
must be a matchbox car ru
oh, is that the pro membership?
I didn't say how big
Nef sat on me for a while so I do that to others now...come on Sapph
yes sap the pro
right, sapphire, it's just $15, once, and well worth it (IMHO)
oh ok, good to know. thanks for explaining!
maybe that's why your stomache gets up5 vanilla..you let people sit on you
we've got to sit on a few more, too many in the shadow
thx, ruru, didn't have the up word!
ahh now there you may have a point, I'll mention it to the better half
I think I'm gonna be really pissed when I find out how easy the words I'm missing are to find
i would still try removing gluten from your diet as i have seen several friends who had unexplained tummy troubles solve it that way
I always am, ruru, although I don't let it bother me any more
I've been trying to get to a sp word for the last half hour
I thought Vanilla said removing gluten had already been tried.
thx jmc I do have soya milk on my cereals!!
it isn't worth warm sp** to worry about it
gluten is in wheat vanilla
don't cry over sp---- milk vanilla
and vanilla, I would second what jmc says - my better half has celiac disease, and it is amazing where gluten is found - it was really tough to really eliminate it all, and if he eats some now he has symptoms for about 3 days
sry yes, but it was gluten free and no dairy products
that's agrivating vanilla.. i am sorry for you
I got sick of rice chicken
wheat, barley, and rye have gluten; flour-based thickeners are in a lot of things (including many medications); soy sauce has wheat; if you are very sensitive even eating gluten-free products that have been processed on equipment that also processes wheat can cause problems
We have a good friend with Krohns and it's awful to see
mind you a good cleanout every now and then must be good for you
sp*** is a wooden peg -- i thought it was paper tightly wrapped to make a design
rice chicken for breakfast? how very asian
celiac can make you very sick but if you stay totally away from gluten you can be fine
its a 5/12 together with the shopping sp....
I am having yellow rice for lunch
Frank eats grits for breakfast :-) but it took him a while to find a brand that hadn't been processed with wheat
saffron? thanks for reminding me to start looking for my saffron crocus
I really do thank you for your concern, I've lived with it for many years and too many doctor visits and barium meals and probes etc
this is the best place in the world to come for brain storming about a problem or issue
same thing happened to Frank, vanilla, he was in his mid-50s before they finally figured it out
and he had to be really vigilant about avoiding gluten
I think I will do that seriously again see if I have more benefit then last time which was a few years ago
milk gives him no trouble but he's given up on dry cereals, hasn't found one that doesn't make him sick - they are all processed on equipment, etc
because it is happening a bit too often lately
If I'm not mistaken, Chron's and Celiac disease involve more than just occasional stomach upset. I know Chron's does because my girlie-in-law has it.
if you want some more detailed information, let me know, vanilla, my email is in my profile
a good med for IBS is librax or generic clinidium
thx uusue
Morning - vanilla have you considered an allergy?
well, Frank tends to say his tummy is upset because he doesn't want to go into detail about what is actually happening
hi hoot
That's what I was thinking Hoot.
hi jmc -
yes hoot
and the doctor that finally diagnosed him said that IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is kind of a "garbage" diagnosis - that's what they say when they can't figure out what's wrong (ok, it's irritable, but *why*?)
Especially since it doesn't happen on a reg shedual. May be in an ingredient you use only occasionally
hi, hoot!
hi sue - cooler tfday?
okay i think i must go study though i never thought i would say those words again
Here is me sitting at the computer all fine and 3 hrs ago I was throwing up and the rest for a couple of hours
actually i never said them before--never had to study before
Study for what?
well i am glad you are feeling fine now vanilla it is nice to have you here
it is better, hoot! still supposed to be in the 80s but less humid, and then thunderstorms and a real cool-off - by Monday morning it will be in the 40s
the masters program i am studying -- i think i should write it up for my profile! haha
ty
did you get the book yet, jmc? (the real one, I mean)
i am getting a masters in conflict transformation which is the next generation of conflict resolution
yes yes i got it yesterday ty ty uu you were such a help
howdee yalls
And from experience vanilla - it may be a combo that does it. I cannot eat crab stuffed shrimp - but have no problem w/them separatley
i am waiting for only 3 more books but i am dropping one of my classes for which (of course) i got all the books and taking a different one
Same with lemon & vinegar dressing - add thyme no sweat - add oregano, I get sick!
Hoot, doesn't keeping a food journal help to narrow down what might cause allergic reactions?
i am adding program evaluation which is a really practical class and has me quite excited
oh, good, jmc! I was able to check it out from our library for 4 months, so maybe I will read it myself at some point :-)
it is really an interesting read to me--i have liked most of these books so far
okay i am really going now bbl
153 left *poof*
Hey peeps
bye jmc take care
Good luck jmc
It should Molly. But those hidden combos are a real pain.
Hi GE
hi, GE!
hey ge - been a while! hi
Sitting outside enjoying the last bit of sun at the lake before the rain comes
seems to be coming very slowly, GE, we decided we would go to the arboretum anyway (if it rains we can always go to Whole Foods :-)
aah yes they are predicting a bad one
Interesting choice there sue :D
Were at lake Geneva and it's pitch black N and W but sunny here
well, this is just local thunderstorms, hoot, no hurricane
(or tropical storm, or whatever)
Is there one in Dekalb are you headed out to lisle
yes, the storm line is pretty much NE, and it seems to be moving slowly
I know. Was checking out weather station earlier for Lee and saw the chicago storm
no, the Morton in Lisle, GE, it's only about a 45 minute drive
Lee? You know someone in Lee, hoot?
Haven't been to the arboretum inyears. Used to go at daffodil ti
it's wonderful, GE, we sprang for a 2-year membership and have already been several times
The storm down in the gulf!
ah. There is a town called Lee not far from me. Confused me, it did.
sorry
not your fault :-)
Oh excellent! Thunder rumbling across the lake. Love that!
How are classes this semester sue ?
Just put WC back on. The storm line seems to be heading NE. But def slow . Hard to tell just how close to the city it will actually go
wow fireworks after all that
Yay vanilla!
classes are good, GE, and much smaller than last semester, although one of them is much more advanced than what I've been teaching for the past decade or two
I got the impression that Lee may be falling apart
yay, vanilla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and high time for the sack. Thx for the great chat and help everyone have a great day and seee you tomorrow
congrats vanilla
Oh a challenge ( or at least a change) that's good!
night, vanilla!
They seem to say lee will be more
They seem to think more rain than wind
back for my last 28... let's get this done
On the iPhone. Lots of mistakes sorry
Looks like we are going to get some rain from Lee in the next couple of days!
I'll bet you are, hoot! Hopefully not too much!
i hope we do
hael
already tried that one, hoot :-)
I'll try to do better
We're having a weird year. Usually visit my son in June. We got hit with storms , straight line winds and a 2 week power outage. Didn't go.
Trying to go next week and we have storms comintg up and down the coast! Ad this is even after the earthquake & Irene!
Is someone trying to tell us something?????????
where is he, hoot?
PA - north/west of Philly
***stealth hugs everyone and wanders off to be productive*** *poof*
ah, so he is in the path too
(((stid)))
FW!
Yeah - Lee has turned north east.
must run and get things done... hagd all
bye
second ar 5?
not many ruby,i will not be in the running today.work has been demanding as it is the last long weekend here before the kids go back to school and our touristy area is just stuffed with citiots
here, they call the locals plouks
even the locals call the other locals that
big football game here tonight but it might get rained out
lol,here they do not call us loacals anything,that is if they want gasoline in the car,food in the belly and a roof over their heads and someone to rescue thier arse when they get lost in the wood or capsize their boats lol
amen!
hello folks
hi origami
i pulled 2 of em off the water just yesterday.my station is right near the boat launch and we keep a marine band radio going.often i can get the call,walk to the dock and have my boat in the water and be on my way in 3 minutes,long before the coast gaurd guy can even drive to his garage
hi, origami!
(my hero!)
lol,no hero about it,just idiots with no oars in the boat,and no gas in the tank
we have an ebb tide here and if you run out of gas in the right place,you can be three miles out in 20 minutes
ok, I do NOT believe there are 18 P words in this grid. So there.
good night everybody. I give up with 88 left!
i always carry 2 extra gas cans and i get my delivery fee lol
they are just kidding, sue
night, ruby!
gn ruby
and of course, the knee is hurting **needs kisses on the knee**
I should follow science, I really need to get some housework done, or at least started.
since Lickety is awake to take his antihistamines, have him kiss it
ah work... enjoy friends!
mom, he passed back out
lol, typical male :-)
i don't know how boys do it... but they can sleep in second
my sweetie is the same way
hello all
afternoon, peri
along with k and v words, I do not like words that start with un or non. they tend to be stoopid
un7 wood is not the same as wood that's been sp5, that being the only un word i've found, but on the whole, i agree about the un and non words
k, that re7.32 is weird
don't have it, dc, clue pls?
cut the wood again
just found it, ty
:)
dc, thre is a recipe for Vegetable-Walnut Pate in my profile that is very good, if your are interested
if you are interested...
oh, yum
it vcan be used as a sandwich spred which is what I did. or as a dip
sounds delicious and like it'll make a good party food :)
it will
I will definitely make it again
Peri, good call. I would have added garlic to that too. Thanks for the recipe.
I got it from the New Moosewood Cookbook
yvw Molly. I add garlic to almost anything I cook
yes, definitely needs a bit of garlic :)
speaking of which, shortly i should go chop stuff for the mirepoix for tonight's red sauce.
what are you cooking, dc?
just a red sauce for pasta, likely rotini
for the i in the corner, I have the flower, help with other i pls
sounds good dc
make the flower into a disease for ir6
like the ringing ear condition
ty dc
beautiful picture, Molly
I collect lake view pictures, as it is my dream to one day live in a house by a lake.
My dream is to live by the sea (don't really care which one)
may your dreams come true, molly and peri :) I want to live by a river.
but a ouse by a lake sounds nice too
house even
we all want to live neear water. I am a pisces 2/19
Ah, we are all water lovers. : )
may your dream come true as well, dc
hi folks - beautiful photo molly, but not too close, please - in case of hurricanes!
Yes, heres to our dreams. *Clink*
My dream is to die in my sleep
i'm aquarius 2/8
you don't want a lake IN your house
a worthy dream, and may it come to pass in its time BR
hope you get your dream too, BR. how are you today?
Good point JBV.
Doing well, peri. Hope you are too.
I am, BR
i'm off to chop veggies -- getting peckish. bbl :)
peckish is a word that always makes me chuckle
I am stuck with 74 left, bbs to finish
hi peri :) did you get your package?
mirepoix is sweating... :)
arl5.10 like the city in France is earnest money like is given to hold a contract, and has a singular form. Silly ENABLE
my dream is to live in a city and have a job i love! 1/2 to go
hi all
afternoon, JMC
that is 1/2 of my dream 147 left in the grid
you want more urban environs, or want a more ideal job :)
i have 109 to go
since i am unemployed. . . .
:) gotcha
brb, need to stir mirepoix
i had to write a haiku about my identity for my homework
Must hear that. Oh, and 'round these parts, we just call it chopped vegetables. : P
law speaks straight strong clear; mother speaks soft firm loving; quaker is silent
it's getting there, bit by bit :)
that's very nice, jmc :)
I like it JMC. It address different aspects of your personality.
Or addresses
at least it has the right rhythm
chopped veggies and mirepoix are not identical, former may include other than onion, celery, carrot, (garlic) and may be cooked by method other than sweating.
:-)
ty both
do not lines three and two need to swap, jmc?
It's okay Seain, I'm a very down Earth cook.
no it is 5 7 5
i worked it out on a grid :-D
i can count :)
And 5 7 5 is correct.
:P
no i have to figure out how to turn it in
*now
There is a trick to that?
would that not be either email or print and hand in?
the house is starting to smell wonderful. :) cooking aromatics is such a joy
i think i am to email it but i may have to post it to moodle (which is like blackboard) an on-line class extension
then i need to write a 2-3 page paper for another class and a paragraph for a third
gotcha
eery
oops Hi all.
I was catching up on who was here before I surfaced
glad you surfaced bugs
Molly, jmc sent me a package and it only took 2 1/2 weeks to get here. Jmc, your payment is on its way
I want to say I like the haiku before I head into the grid for real
"only" 2 1/2 weeks
Hooray for a good Canada Post story!
well our Post Office workers are not encouraged to be fast in my experience
and customs will sit on things for weeks i'm told there, too, bugs, and hello :)
brb i am thirsty
Hi Seain and BR if you are still here too.!
1st tr 7/32 please?
Expands in multiples of three
Crap, that is the wrong one. Um, sounds like the plural of forceable sex.
My cousin got a job as a mailman but he walked the route and finished too fast, so they gave him a rural route that covered miles. He was given a little jeep so he could get it done in time. He finished too fast. So they took the jeep away and made him walk the route. He still finished before the guys in the truck.
before that one molly
Needless to say, he did not last long at the Post Office
thank you.. weird word
Amusing story Bugs, and I believe it.
he's not related to our mailman apparently
here if you finish early they have you go help someone else
*takes drink to pb*
thanks for the clues jmc
yet studies show that the u.s. post service delivers 95% of its first class mail in 1 day
Our mail carrier gets his route done in record time. And I know a few of the places he goes and "hangs out" when he finishes early. : P
I don't want to say we are lazy up here.... maybe we just have learned to get the mail when it comes
pb molls
does he go back to someone's house for a special delivery molly?
*offers grapefruit soda*
I was just opening a beer to come and join you JMC.
If he does Ru, I don't know THAT place. : )
the sun has ris; the sun has set; and here you is; in texas yet
burma shave
Afternoon Evening Babblers!!!
hi red
i am feeling poetical today
hey red
Oh My Poetical. I am feeling sort of tired. Did a lot of house cleaning, but house is still dirty.
sp 7/32 I can't find.. anyone have it?
My marypox this evening consisted of chopped onion, garlic, celery and carrots sauteed and then blended into a white wine sauce with herbs. I added some chicken and served it over rice with fresh green beans and ho-made dinner rolls. : )
sp 7/32...the first four of the curly line + geometry teaches you to find the *r** of a triangle.
marypox?
"ho-made dinner rolls"?
that sounds pretty good molly..
and i made chicken quesadillas with leftover storebought roast chicken and storebought tortillas
lol
I am making turkey burg. with peaches and cauliflower. Blech.
Joking with Seain about is merepoix. "Ho-made" is a joke among the girls I run with and I.
added herbs and tomatos. Another hour, and there will be sauce :)
*his merepoix
i hate peaches
i hate turkey burgers :-)
there used to be a sign touting ho-made pies for sale along us 211 here in Virginia :)
thank you molly
I won't admit to ho-made anything. But I do have home-made kids as well as foster and adopted ones
As I know it, ho-made generated from The Sweet Potato Queens.
hi, ruru
so if it is blech why are you making it red?
hi there DC
it is what is in the house. and it is good for me.
ho-made been a round longer than that molls
no cheese?
Like I said, as I know it.
do you have to prostitute yourself to make ho-made?
No cheese in the house.
no more than to make ho-cake
no, no cheese. i don't cook cheese into sauces, as by and large i don't like that. Tom uses parmesan rinds, and it turns out well, i have not the knack.
Depends on the ho doing the making I guess.
oh, there's hos, and there's hos, ru :) so not necessarily.
then crumble the turkey and cook it with the peaches and some cardamon and curry and at the end through in the cauliflower and serve over rice
well I guess you could make them by hooker or crook
JMC, now I suppose you are going to tell me that Knock You Naked Margarita mix has been around long before The Sweet Potato Queens too.
ru has a one ho mind
never heard of that molls so probably not
LOL ruru
:D
i echo what jmc said to molly
I think I can add some curry sauce and make it beter, Or Hoison. My Vietnamese PT was shocked that I regular cook withHoison.
sweet potato queens?
i had to google them too, ruru :)
hoisn is good--when in doubt i go with curry powder
I wonder if sweet potato queens yammer a lot?
why is the pt shocked? is it only supposed to be for holidays?
ru is such a spud
Had to Google Hoisin. **Passes**
hoisin is good as an ingredient
i love hoisin
it can be salty however
No, He just forgets that people who are not Asian occasionally eat Asian food. He was also surprised to find out I knew where to buy rice at the Asian Market in orlando. He isnt the most global Asian.
LOL red
Hoisin is good stuff. Mix with P-nut butter it is good...
the kenyans who came to the u.s. were shocked by the variety of food we have here
food and toothpaste varieties!
yum that makes a great sauce over cold paste with julienne cukes carrots and bean sprouts
and chicken too
*cold pasta
was my favorite lo mein
I prefer ho-mein
uh oh...
haha a spud like you would
Not lo-ho-mein?
Ooooh I should have made Potatos...
ho-ho-mein
Hmmm.
au6 -- baby bird
*Slaps forehead* I coulda had a V-8!
I don't know what to make for dinner.
No V 8 in the house, so I do not have that regret...
I'm thinking about a spinach salad
Just as well Red. My V-8 usually has Vodka, tabasco and a celery stalk in it.
No spinach either, I need to go shopping I am lacking a lot.
spinach salad is most always nice
oh a spicy v-8 bloody mary is nice!
hi all
hi peri
Molly, I know of the Sweet Potato Queens. Have read some of their books. very funny
Hilarious Peri. HRH Jill has made a fortune just being a bawdy, in your face woman.
she has indeed
Evening all.
May I please have a clue for un5-12the 1st? Thanks
Hi Peach
Hey there, Molly.
un + not dark
A place with no illumination is un5/12
Thanks much, ruru and Molly.
wood not ready for the fireplace is un7.36
peri, a dash of Worcestershire sauce is good in a bloody too :)
Peach, my niece and her husband are at the Dawgs game today. : )
not sure4 why you are telling me that, but thanks, dc
Oh, great, Molly. My youngest daughter graduated from UGA...Go Dawgs!
think you meant jmc
So did my niece and her husband. She says downtown is a sea of red. : )
I'd bet on that Molly.
Thanks, dc.....the u's are difficult for me. I'll keep looking.
Peach, the 7 DC referred to is...hair repair products claim to un7 ends.
If you can dig that as a real word.
i neven have that hair problem, even when it's long like now, so that comparison never occurred to me, molly :) ty
Ah, yes, thanks dc and Molly.
er, never
hm. can one tr7 through the tulips as well as tiptoe?
Well Seain, I'm not sure, but I would be you don't do damaging things to your hair, like blow dry, curl and tease. : )
true that, molly
I'm thinking about shaving my head
re621 pls
There aren't enough tiles for a re621
hi, jes
nice sadiron, dc :)
ty, jes. from yesterday i'd never seen the word unhyphenated before, though it makes sense as a compound.
i never knew they were called anything except "iron" before.
even though my mom has about a dozen of them
i remember my great-aunt ironing with stove-top irons when i was small.
Ladies and gentlemen, we now take you to the French version of our game, Babiller, moderated by your host M. DC Seain.
but...i don't speak french :(
i don't think inge's really here. just keeps dropping letters in the grid occasionally.
hi stid :)
oh, I know she doesn't chat much, but thought I would hug her anyway. *scatters choclits for everyone else*
hah. there are a couple v words today that were annoying phantoms yesterday :)
Fireworks
i built a red sauce on a mirepoix and tossed it with rotini, with garlic toast compliments of Tom
I am suddenly really tired. I think I will not play right now. A short nap is more in order... *yawn* still making up for the insomnia this week, I think.
Hi Jes!
how goes?
ok- Busy getting Jakester ready to go back to school and MIL fell and broke her pelvis this morning...
how are you?
oh no, i hope she's okay
I think she is ok. They said no surgery was needed.. will know more when hubby gets home from hospital
never a dull moment in our house
how'd she fall?
I dont know. She has fallen a few timesd over the last few months. She is 83- has a person living with her- the lady called us to tell us
hmm. rough times
yep! Not good.. trying to be supportive
hello friends.
sorry to hear your bad news, dr!
hi trif
Hi Trif! How are you
thanks Trif
I am sending good vibes to you all....
hi, jes, dr, trif!
oh, I am so sad, DR...but the bitter sweet kind....dropped primo off to college today....for the first time ever
Hi Uusue
Oh! HUGS to you Trif!!! that is tough!
{{{{trif}}}}
but think of all the free time you'll have now, trif :)
so, from hot and humid it has now gone to being cool and rainy. I like cool and rainy better.
How far away is he
How far away is he
compound word meaning super warm, speed
tri where is he going to college
Mass Art -- not too far away, but not home either....
thank you uusue
he will do well there
he will, he really will, and I am so thrilled for him! It's just new
Tri I was lucky also both mine stayed in Mass. to go to school far enough away to live there but close enough to visit
it is nice, isn't it? I don't know how the international students do it! One family from Japan, and one from South Africa!!!!
Hi Sis, Speedfreak..a week away from Babble - no power...How DID we manage? :)
*Sprays soothing lavender scent around Trif's partially empty nest*
hi, read and molly!
Or 8/50 geeze
yay, jes!
go Jes!
and hi, peri! no re6/18 yet, sorry!
hi peri
re 6/18...to put in the tall corn storing place again
ty Molly
: )
thanks molly
I don't get why that is a word, and the root word is not. Perplexing.
1st tr7 help please?
because that's not what it means; it's related to things springing back to their original shape, molly
First tr7 sounds like plural for forceable sex
(I always try what ought to be the corn storing place too)
argh...phone....
ty Molly
thanks molly
Well I'm stumped then. Because en s4 refers to the corn storage place.
the re word is related to re***ient (the *** stands for the third through fifth letters of the word in the grid). At least that's what the dictionary I found says (not something I already knew!)
the other 8 is a un ?
No Jean, my mistake, it's a UL
2n un7/36 pls
It's okay Sue. I just found three dictionaries that give a definition for s4. Not the corn storage place, but an old Norse word meaning to rain. It's just one of those oddball Enable things.
un + braid
ty lbd. I am using the babble expert you sent to me. ty again
well, I must say, I know a lot more words now than I did when I came back to Babble in January! And that is a good thing.
yw, peri. glad it's working for you.
gotta love Maxine!!
Yes, I do too. Unfortunately, I can't use many of them in day to day conversation.
I may add Foreign Currency Expert to my resume though.
you mean you can kanoodle some of these wonderfully obscure words in everyday conversation, Molly? *shock*
there should be a 't after can...my monkeys are sleepy
Nope Dawg, I said can't. Try as I may, nene just doesn't work it's way into my girlfriend gab fests.
i like to try and use epha...like he's an epha blank blank! lol
Sounds like a Jersey word Dawg. Yo, what the epha do youse think you're doing with that?
heheh, yup, that's what i was thinkin' too.
new Dr. WHo is on shortly. may be back later.
I have actually seen a pair of nene, on the way up to the top of Haleakala, so I suppose I could work it into conversation...
Sue, considering all the places you have been, you have a better shot at conversational Babble words than I do.
I suppose so :-) I used to carry a panga around with me (currency from Tonga); haven't seen it in a grid yet but apparently Enable recognizes it
I used to carry a kanga in my front pocket
I tried carrying a malanga around with me, but people looked at me funny.
if I knew what a malanga was I'd laugh.
re 6/18 and 6/21 please, and hello all
It's a hairy tuber vegetable. I'm trying to impress people with my exotic vocabulary, but it's not even working on me.
hairy tuber sounds rude
lol
Which re6/18? The 6/21 is re + ocean + vowel (clue stolen from Ru)
I have that clue TM now..:D
got the sea one
either re 6/18 will work lol
Just got an email from a friend in Australia that it's Father's Day over there? Any Australian Dads here other than Lickety?
No question mark, it is Fathers Day over there.
you mean the old goat ?
re 6/18 to close an envelope again
re 6/18 re+ ****nt Night...a Christmas song.
doh swore I had that
thank you
sp 7/32 pls
just wandering back in. how goes it?
Why is Lickety an old goat?
that's what Mr. P called him when she couldn't sleep this morning.. he snores..
Ah, well if anyone is around at the flip, maybe wish him a Happy Dad's Day.
Hi Jes.
Dont have it Red, sorry looking for it now
thanks for trying meliae. love your name by the way
sp + the beginning of a circle.. and a space without the r (all vowells)
Thank you, its a name I made up around 10 years ago for a role playing game I was playing called Asheron's Call
thanks, ru
i used to work with a girl with similar name, hers is meliah
Thank you Ruru
thanks ruru
take the first 4 letters of the sp word that is like a helix, then add a bunch of vowels.
its another flower Sue
oh! I have them in my yard. Duh. thx.
thanks, mel
was also looking at them when we visited the arboretum this afternoon. sigh.
I like the SP word that ends in gyra better. Especially since someone named a band after it. You gotta love a band named after pond scum. : )
ugh does the vi 6 have anything to do with the vi 5 preceding it?
no, it doesn't
kk thank you
vi6 means ... uhm... fertile, i guess, but usually used specifically for male
brb need some wine for the rest of these, lol, 30 to go
thank you
good grief the sp6/33 is weird.
May I please have a clue for ul8-50? Thanks
and dictionary.com says it is literally a fish. even better.
... if you have ul5 ... ul8 ... is a whole lot more than warm
have them both, but thanks, dose
Thanks much, doseffing.
oh, sorry, peach, totally missed you asking!
clue for that fishy sp6/33, jes?
sp+body of water, uusue
It is weird Jes.
That's OK, hon.
also, hi peach :)
ah. makes sense that it would be a fish, I suppose. thx!
... sp + a body of water == a sport fish
Hey there, jes.
so why is virial not a word? I just taught my class the virial theorem last week.
proper noun maybe?
don't think so, it's not capitalized
hmm. i dunno then.
same reason enable doesn't like cria, i guess.
Enable is a very dim word list.
oh well :-)
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi, min!
hi min
ir6,18 clue?
I'm on my way outta here (I've been in and out all day - maybe 5 minutes at a time), but noticed the comment about words not being viable. This week, the gri had "wythe" in it. And that's a word - it's masonry; single wythe or double wythe walls. But not allowed here.
ack - *grid
Goodbye java2!I will see you tomorrow in the chat log
Great picture of Eileen Brennan Min.
Thanks MollyL.Obviously that's an older picture of her
oi. thanks, doseffing.
... all I can say is ... don't catch it ... it sound like an awful itch ... but I didn't check
So Enable is obviously not a mathemetician or a mason.
pretty painful, i would think. i don't like things going wrong in the ey4
or a zoologist, uusue :)
es6 clue?
That es 6/21 word is es plus a pi 4/5 word jesdraggon
tr 7/32 please the first one
thanks min, fireworks!
... to go about in a careless and carefree manner
Congratulations jesdraggon on fireworks! Way to go!
... I have a sense that it's usually in a place where you're not really supposed to be
yay, jes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first tr7/32 sounds like the plural of forceable sex.
tr 7: to walk or go aimlessly or idly or without finding or reaching one's goal meliae.
thank you
yw
... an with explosions of ecstasy bursting across the screen ... exists ... stage right
Got it. Thanks.
Hi all. MrP, why are you taking my other half aka 'the old goat' out to lunch? LOL.
I call him that because he's a Capricorn.
welcome, bea. easy to clue with you :)
(((MRP)))
Thnaks, jes. It never fails, I ask for a clue and it find the word...A peri moment.
hello orezzie and all
I hated having to leave Wales yesterday morning, but it's nice to have my whizzy fast internet connection back again. It was patchy at best up in the mountains.
Hi TO.
prezzie, sorry dear. hi jacs!
about now,i would give up all the gadgets for a james herriot type spot in the coswolds with a few kerosiene lamps a good wood fired range and a case of single malt whiskey and blessed silence..the tourists have poor crossy rattled
u forgot a few rashers of bacon
and cheese
and bread
Crossy - the Welsh mountains gave us the kind of rain that only they can yesterday morning - the fine needles mixed with mist and cloud that come at you from above, from below and from all 4 compass points. I felt sorry for the campers who only had pup tents and so had to stand, huddled like a group of miserable cattle, under the poor shelter of the mountain scrub oaks.
but of course.case of eggs,a hundred weight of bacony goodness,lots of bread flour
and a 1/2 dozen cartons of books :p
lol,half the time that is a fine spring morning here jacula
I've had my own personal hen following me about for the past week but she didn't lay me any eggs. Fortunately, my friend on the farm up the lane's hens did, and so we've been scoffing lovely free-range eggs this past week.
we are right on georgian bay here and have had several thunder storms today
mmm range eggs
crossy gets brown double yolkers from the farm up the street when they get new layers
Crossy - are you still in pre-WWII Yorkshire with James Herriott?
on his second last book
Brown double-yolkers are lovely!
we are getting the boomers now crossy
there were 9 in all,plus 3 the best ofs
lookslike they are going to train through here all night
Crossy - have you ever visited Yorkshire?
i never have,was born in watford,but we came over in 66 and i have yet to make it back
let me guess,it is all big nasty cities now;(
the v words are elusive tonight.
i mean it is to the point where i can almost see the rock walls meandering over the hills and dales and smell the sheep poo lol
I've only been to Yorkshire once, crossy, but I couldn't resist getting out on the moor as we passed through on our way to Scarborough for a writers' conference. I had to continue a 'tradition' my husband's aunt began - charging along with my arms out and yelling, 'Heathcliff!'
Crossy - no, you won't be disappointed. The moors are still much as they were (so long as those ugly wind turbines haven't sprouted up all over them).
i have seen the cotswolds(sp) on the internet,and a slice of that will be just right for ole crossy
The Cotswolds are still lovely, too, as is North Wales, where I have just returned from.
one of those quaint little stone cottages by the ocean thats not a day over 400 years old and a nice bit of land to go with it
I went to the cotswolds when I was little,but I do not remember it though. I think I was 8 or 9 when I went.
You should visit again then, Min.
lol,i still carry a british passport,so i can invade any time i wish :)
night jacs, nice to see you
Crossy - I re-visited a tiny church last week that dates from the 5th century. The only tombstone still readable now is dated about 1660. It's quite humbling to walk around that graveyard next to the beach.
'Night TO. See you again soon.
Bye 72 Temple Owl! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
Crossy - here's the info about the church, if you're interested. http://tinyurl.com/3n8lwza
Hey there, Min. I just looked at your profile pictures....great photos, I see you love dogs too. Enjoyed seeing your family.
Bea did you find pl 5/16?
oh nm I see your post right after you asked
Hi mel. Bea 'did a peri', i.e she asked and then she found before we replied.
Hello gapeach1066! I would not say I love dogs, but I do love MY dog. Was never really a dog lover 'til I got mine. My family laughs at me because I've never held back on my dislike of dogs and then I end up not just owning one, but actually loving it. I do prefer smaller dogs to bigger dogs. I am a cat lover at heart though
Min - that's quite funny. I'm a dog lover at heart, but since I had to take my nearly 18-year-old dog on his final journey, I haven't been able to open my heart to another dog. However, cats keep finding me and adopting me. Only one or two at a time, but they make me love them... somehow.
We had dogs and cats as I was growing up but mother would never let them come into the house. I always felt sorry for them during the hostile winters we had in Kentucky.
Did they have any kind of shelter to go into, gapeach?
I grew up with cats & dogs too. I loved the cats, not the dogs. First dog was a German Shepard and then I always had Golden Retrievers after that. Maybe that is why I do not like big dogs since that is what I grew up with & I never liked any of the dogs I grew up with
I think they may have gone into a coal shed in the back yard. My two "rescues" really have it made. But then I've spoiled them as I did my children. They are such good company (the dogs).
Unfortunately, the cat we have now won't tolerate any other animal of any kind in the house. (But we do have 3 guinea pigs housed in a comfy shed in the garden.)
I know someone like that.He keeps his dog outside at all times whether is 30 below zero or 100+ in summer.
Min - I wonder why? Both dog breeds you mention are usually good with kids.
Oh, Min, that is just awful. The poor dog.
Min - that's just cruel, re the dog owner. Yes, you have to be pack leader and all that, but not to the degree of plain cruelty.
If you give a dog love it will give you love, total loyalty and more back. Dogs are also far more forgiving than cats.
People have called the town on him, but he does have a dog house in the backyard so they say that it is ok for him to be out there because they feed him too. I and the rest of the neighborhood do not think it is ok
Is the dog house insulated and/or heated?
Min, I loved the info on Eileen Brennan. She has done a lot of work.
If the dog's a husky or a wolf, or a samoyed, it might be okay.
The dogs I grew up w/were great dogs. I just did not know it at the time.I did not like the barking and the drooling and the the dog licks and dog smell.Had very little patience for dogs. Now I got more patience for dogs; not that my dog takes a lot of patience.He's so easy going and mellow.Hubby, that's a different story
Oh dear, Min!
No,it is an open dog house but the town says the dog has a roof over its head. That dog gets no TLC at all!
No TLC often makes a dog aggressive. If it doesn't do that, it makes them cowed and depressed (and likely to snap).
I never really cared for Eileen Brennan. I don't know why not; maybe because I did not like her in "Private Benjamin".Did you ever see that movie gapeach1066?
I hope you also read my story of clues gapeach1066.I hope it helped you to find some more words in puzzle.
Min - I think 'the town' (I assume that's what we in UK would call the town council?) needs to rethink its policy according to the breed of dog etc.
Yes, I did see that one. And yes, I always find your stories helpful.
Min - your stories are always great. I didn't use it, since I'd already done, but I read it.
Not only is dog kept outside, but dog is kept outside chained up to a tree!The people who live behind that dog's house give it food&treats all of the time though
I still have 24 words to go and I don't have the energy to finish.
Min, I am glad for the neighbors who help this animal.
Min - I think someone needs to go outside the law a little and commit 'dognap'.
gap - ask and clues will be given.
Congratulations on finishing the grid already. Hooray
Thanks Min.
LOL, dognap! I like that one.
I agree, Jacula. In fact, many years ago there was a Beagle next door that was being mistreated and he just "happened" to jump into my car and he would up in the next state with some nice people.
Thought a dognap lasted a little longer than a catnap.
wound up.
Gosh, gapeach! How strange that he just 'happened' to do that. Well done!
Good one, Min. LOL
I didn't finish grid,but I can give clues too if you need
Min - a dog sleeps for about 13 hours a day and a cat for about 20 hours a day.
Well, m' dears, I'm going to rest until the flip.
I need help with my last word. It's va6/27??
Okay,I want to be a cat or a dog in my next life then.
See you again, gapeach.x
Hello callie! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
thanks.
Bye gapeach1066! I might see you at the flip, I might not. It depends on if I can stay awake for that long.
I am doing well except I can't get my last word :(
va6/27 (1st) - French word for a small piece of hand luggage. va6.27 (2nd) - knave or brigand/criminal. va6/27 (3rd) describes a sexually potent male).
Goodbye Jacula! I'll see you tomorrow in the chat log.
5 more minutes if anyone wants clues and then that's it.
I thought next icon theme was Soodlebum's birthday.
You ALWAYS do jillibus and I for one do appreciate it.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
Thanks, min, and you're right -- the theme has been changed to Soodlebum's birthday. So I'll save my poem for another time.
