Well I knew it wasn't me. :P But I was looking for a name that had "luv" in it and didn't see one!

12:18 am

bye mlf

12:18 am

g'night mlf

12:18 am

i'm still up thanks to laundry. I should've stared earlier in the day. Ah, well.

12:18 am

neil, you're a luv too

Aww. Thank you! :)

Seain, I'm thinking you need to update your profile a little there. "Summertime, and the living's hot as hell." -- does that still apply?

12:19 am

even though you didn't say what that light is over your shoulder...

12:20 am

well, we had a cold snap, but will apply again later this week. yes

It's just a light... flashlight one of the security people had.

12:21 am

ok, back... house is looking and smelling wonderful!! finally! haven't had it cleaned for 3 weeks!

Photo #57 in my Flickr album jilli... click it a couple of times to get it into the black window then click again to see it full size.

In the "light box"... that's what I meant.

12:23 am

I get it, neil

Actually the light is being reflected off the reflective stripes on the uniform of another guy standing a several feet behind me.

12:23 am

had to give my housekeeper a nice cool glass of agrium, with a touch of vodka in it! :)) it is darn hot here today

12:24 am

and they are backburning all down the Gorge... so can't open doors for a breeze

12:24 am

What's agrium?

I'm not sure exactly where that light was coming from but I know one of the guys had a flashlight.

12:25 am

it is a blood orange drink jilli

12:25 am

mmm -- sounds great, mrp

12:25 am

it is yumbo!!

12:25 am

MrP are they just backburning or fires? We had a bad bushfire not far from here (Menangle) all under control now.

What's the temperature like there mrp?

12:26 am

backburning diz... the weather is perfect today for it... all the fire trucks are up the road taking care of it

12:26 am

diz -- can we get together for lunch some day in Sydney with mrp?

12:26 am

it is about 28 C today... luvly really

Oh that's pretty hot.

Is it a dry heat though?

12:27 am

82f

12:27 am

yesterday, the winds were 80km/h... shocking ... and the beautiful blue mountains burnt!

12:27 am

Jilli, I hope to xx

12:27 am

perfect temp, mrp!

12:27 am

hooray, diz!

12:28 am

jilli, when you come over, I will take you up to the mountains

12:28 am

oh dear, mep!

12:28 am

*mrp (tired)

12:28 am

it is at the moment, about 70% humidity

12:28 am

unlike February when it is 40 C and 95% humidity!

Oh, that's pretty high.

OMG... yikes, that's hot!

You have A/C of course?!

12:29 am

jilli is coming in March, so the temps should be in the 30s then

12:29 am

mrp, I changed today and will be there for 3 weeks instead of 2 -- hoping not to be too jet-lagged, lol!

12:29 am

we do neil, but as we are moving, we have to find a house with aircon and that is proving hard

12:29 am

3 weeks is perfect!! you won't want to leave jilli!

Oh no, mrp... you'll need that!

It's a real shame you have to pick up and move all because of that prick. :(

12:30 am

good luck, mrp (I have a vested interest now!)

12:30 am

we looked at a beautiful home a couple of days ago, but only a/c was in the living area... not good enough... and no fans in the bedrooms?? forget it

Yeah. In the kind of heat you get, no way.

12:31 am

they want $750 for a three bedroom home with a pool, but without the a/c, not paying that!

12:31 am

in the foreseeable future, i shall have a washer/dryer pair with similar load times.

12:31 am

I remember hot summers, no AC, and sleeping under stifling mosquito nets

No kidding. I wouldn't either.

If I had that kind of money!

12:32 am

jilli, that is exactly here in summer... awful! can't sleep at all without a/c

12:32 am

Are you renting, mrp?

I'd just like to have a washer and dryer, Seain.

12:32 am

we will be paying up to $900

Gotta use the laundry room in this building. Better than going out to a laundromat though.

12:32 am

how did your court go mrp?

12:32 am

yes jilli, not buying in sydney... we bought and sold in Sydney, it is the 5th most expensive city in the world!

12:33 am

Well, I still prefer heat to shivering -- grew up that way and I guess it lasts a lifetime.

12:33 am

we have in-unit wash/dry, but the dryer takes 2-3 times as long as the washer.

You're spoiled compared to me, Seain.

12:33 am

sure.. air-conditioned is the way to go

12:33 am

hi mixi! court got moved to 29th Nov... my operation fixed that up. was supposed to have court on 12 sept, but with my surgery unexpected, couldn't do it.

Hi ruru! :)

12:34 am

hi neil

12:34 am

i prefer cool, as i grew up stuck to my sheets and furniture and clothing thanks to the heat and humidity. The warm dry of Winter indoors was a blessing. Moving from my Mom's i swore i'd never stick to my sheets because of the weather again.

12:34 am

good luck.

12:34 am

of course, i go camping, but that's not the same as at home.

12:34 am

mine does too, dc -- saw a tip, though -- throw a dry beach towel into the dryer with the laundry -- cuts the dry time

12:34 am

huh. i'll have to try that, jill, thanks for the tip.

12:35 am

our washer is same timing as drier

I prefer cool too, Seain.

12:35 am

as is proper and fitting, mrp :)

12:35 am

it came from BC Hydro, for saving power

12:35 am

we AC to 70F in the Summer, and heat to 63F in the winter. Dominion Power never is so useful like that, jill.

12:36 am

mrp, poor son Dave prefers cool but will go along with heat for my sake.

12:36 am

sure there are always ways to heat up the bedroom that don't involve a heater

12:36 am

he will have a good time and the weather will be much nicer at that time

I know of a few. [whistles]

12:36 am

Sheesh, I heat to 70F in the winter and still shiver

12:37 am

http://tinyurl.com/44pmlvg todays shirt.Woot! mademe laugh

12:37 am

but you said it's in the 30sC on March, mrp -- a bit warm for him

12:37 am

i expect that will be the case by the time i'm your age, jill, having watched many family members age.

12:38 am

yes, i make warmer when i have older people visiting, it's only polite, and helps with arthritis and other health issues.

12:39 am

top row greyed

12:39 am

I'm not creaky, dc -- just used to warmer climes all my life

12:40 am

well, the humidity drops by then jilli, and the nights are nice

12:40 am

oh geed, mrp :-)

12:41 am

*good (shaking head at typos)

12:41 am

but Feb at night.... I can only say ... don't bother coming in Feb!!

12:42 am

hello all - mrp our weather almost exactly like yours - Feb is hell month

12:42 am

ok, now I have to give the housekeeper an icecream cone... is proving to be too warm for her this arvo

12:43 am

indeed ursh, we are on the same tropical line?

12:43 am

i think so

12:43 am

here, July/Aug/much of Sep are the more awful times of year, heat/humidity-wise. April and Oct are nicest months to visit Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia.

12:44 am

and isn't she a darling!!? she poured me a vodka and agrium with ice!! what a darling housekeeper I have!! (cheers)

12:45 am

:) sounds good, mrp

12:45 am

what is agrium?

Hi ursh.

12:46 am

I grew up in Shanghai, which is on the same latitude as Jacksonville, Florida -- then lived in NYC and then Montreal where summers are steamy. Winters we won't compare. Here on BC's west coast temps are much cooler in summer and warmer in winter.

12:47 am

nbt at last.

12:48 am

Montreal summers are steamy? I always thought it very, very comfortable when i visited in the Summer.

12:49 am

steamy for Canada dc

12:49 am

That was my goal for tonight -- tired, woith an aching back, and an early start tomorrow, to catch a ferry and get to a luncheon matinee at the Chemainus Theatre of Amadeus.

12:50 am

sleep well, and wake rested, jill

12:50 am

High 80s and mid-90s F with humidity is steamy anywhere imho and Montreal can do that.

My brother found it steamy when he was there this summer, Seain... near and in Montreal. And we're from Southern California.

12:51 am

guess i've alwasy been lucky in my July visits, then :)

Yes, that's what it was like then, jilli.

12:51 am

you're from a desert, neil, everywhere is comparatively steamy.

12:51 am

lol

Haha, well true.

But it can get hot... not so bad where I am now though.

12:52 am

think so, dc! And there are the mosquitos, too -- that's something we're spared here, thank goodness.

12:52 am

think everywhere east of the Rockies was pretty steamy this past summer

12:52 am

yes, very hot in desert

I was referring to heat more than humidity there.

12:52 am

seems like it was, dart

But humidity makes heat feel way hotter than it is of course.

12:52 am

and we had such a miserably short summer here

12:53 am

the long winter/short summer in Boston when i lived there was opposite of what i was used to. Good experience.

12:53 am

and the far west (jilli) and the far east parts didn't have much of a summer

12:53 am

I've been to Tucson -- that's hot but not steamy.

12:53 am

our summer started in April and ran through August, as temps went. bleah.

12:53 am

go to houston or new orleans or florida

12:54 am

that's steamy!

12:54 am

i've met people from Houston here that prefer Houston's Summer to DC's

12:54 am

DONE

12:54 am

conrats, ruru

Congrats, ruru! :)

And conrats from Seain. ;)

12:54 am

Lucky you, dc, although granted, it was a bit extreme. We would have liked to have you blow a bit of it our way and vice versa.

12:55 am

cat on wrist, hard to type.

Is it easy to con rats?

12:55 am

DC gets pretty steamy too dc as you know too well

12:55 am

i HAVE to finish early I have to catch an early flight

12:55 am

YAY lurky ruru!

Where are you going, ruru?

12:55 am

And was just there myself for a week.

12:56 am

Oh... my family's in N. Hollywood.

Those who are there.

12:56 am

I am not wild about going.. but I have to go

The rest... San Diego.

12:56 am

What are you going for, ru?

12:57 am

now.. San DIego I like

That's where I was born and raised, ru.

[San Diego]

12:57 am

12:57 am

work neil.. seeing a number of top restaurants with vino

12:57 am

mOnday I see the surgeon jilli.. I'll know more then

Well we were both raised there... but only I was born there. Folks moved there when my brother was a baby, from Indianapolis, IN.

12:58 am

oh ruru, when are you going to get those kneees fixed???

Oh good, ruru... glad you have the appointment soon. You need something done asap.

Huh? Oh... dart is female? With a blue icon?

12:59 am

there will be a hurricane there ruru...in a glass :)

12:59 am

no.. my surgeon is a she I think

Oh, you mean the doctor. :P

Yeah. I'm kinda tired... you can tell.

1:00 am

Oh, she -- tsk tsk to me -- and she will do a neater job than a he, I bet.

1:00 am

that works too dart get too plowed to play..lol

1:00 am

1:01 am

1:01 am

I 've not decided.. I have heard great things about her as well.. I might have surgery in SF...take in a few shows.. etc..lol

Or is it? No. You're going there for something else.

I'm just getting all confused now.

1:01 am

you'll have to do the Crocodile Dundee check ruru

1:01 am

hope you bought your computer at Wal Mart dart..lol

Very funny, ru. Take in the shows pre-surgery.

1:02 am

what neil?

What what, ru?

1:02 am

you mean LA? or SF?

Oh, L.A. because you said you were going there... and then I got all confused and thought it was to see the specialist. Don't mind me.

1:03 am

I have to get up at freakin four in the morning..ugh

Not many ever do. :P

Ugh. Go. To. BED... now.

1:03 am

Ok, good night all.

4:05 am

Pops head above parapet.... Hi Sue, Hi (((Rubes)))). Sorry not been about lately....more computer trouble. I still don't have email set up...

4:08 am

hi, soodle! Sorry you are having computer trouble! (I hate it when that happens...)

4:15 am

*Injects coffee IV* Woke up WAY too early. Hi all.

4:17 am

hi, molly! I woke up too early too, and it's an hour earlier here...

4:18 am

Must be Solstice magick Sue. : )

4:22 am

Actually it's the equinox, but point taken :-)

4:28 am

Technically correct. I think I'm the only Pagan here so I won't get into the semantics of it all.

4:34 am

I have dabbled in paganism but it was a little too unscientific for me - but I actually do have a number of Pagan friends

4:38 am

Many people who are grounded in pagan ways gravitate towards the UU community.

4:38 am

indeed - there is a Pagan UU group in a town about 20 miles from here, although I have never visited them

4:42 am

funny story - when I attended a large(ish) UU church in Chicago, we had a ministerial intern who was a Pagan and a lesbian - I heard her talking to one of the RE teachers (religious education, for the kids), who said "Wow! A lesbian witch*! You have to come talk to my class!" UUs can be pretty funny. (* I know Wiccan is a more correct term, but that's what she said)

4:48 am

: )

5:06 am

YES! Figured out the Z all by myself :):)

5:07 am

Life's little victories. : )

5:08 am

And I did it with very little "doodling". I just suddenly saw it :)

5:09 am

hi all

5:09 am

Morning Carlee

5:09 am

Morning everyone :)

5:09 am

morning molls

5:09 am

hi boat

5:09 am

Hi :)

5:12 am

hi again all, thinking of going back to bed

5:13 am

GO back sue

5:15 am

GM kids. I woke up at 0450--wide awake. So I'm doing laundry and I finished e-mail and FB.

5:15 am

Anyone else notice that since the server broke, we've been getting tiny little grids?

5:16 am

more insomnia...

5:16 am

Okay, that is three of us who woke up early. I'm sensing a trend.

5:16 am

car.ee had it yesterday

5:17 am

I often experience insomnia.

5:17 am

no..she didnt...my mistake..she slept the little B**** ( snort) <KIDDING car.ee>

5:17 am

too much going on...thinking too much

5:17 am

I'm usually up at this hour. Although the clock here says 5:17 and where I am is two hours earlier.

5:18 am

i woke up at 5:30 today... but feels too soon...i am not yet accustommed to my drive..that is taking alot out of me am afraid...

5:18 am

So 0315, boa! Quite early in the morning.

5:18 am

I'm usually up at 5, but I was up at 4 today. I get this way when the light changes.

5:19 am

Carlee, what do you listen to on your drive? Radio? Audiobooks?

5:19 am

Being on the road two hours a day would drain my soul.

5:19 am

radio.. background... i am finding i am using the time to go over lecture material on way home

5:20 am

I used to work 45 min away and hated it--gas, time + stress.

5:20 am

I run through what i heard that day.... so am usiing time effectively

5:20 am

its on way in that is killer...

5:21 am

Yup. I live in the land of no daylight savings :)

5:21 am

And winter whether can make for a long and scary drive.

5:21 am

Aha, must be Arizona, boa! I was at the Grand Canyon hiking in June.

5:22 am

How was that?

5:22 am

yeap...i have already told most of my profs that i will not risk life and limb...if there is a storm...i wont be there...even for an exam

5:22 am

We went from Nevada to Utah to AZ and back to UT and then NV again. We were always changing our watches.

5:23 am

i will do my best to stay on top of weather systems... but we had a storm here last year that trapped 100's of motorists on the highway just out of town for days ( made CNN even)

5:23 am

It was awesome, boa, except for experiencing heat exhaustion 2.5 miles down into the canyon.

5:23 am

I remember that storm, Kat.

5:24 am

i am on the stretch of road now daily... ( speaking of which i have to start piecing together my car emergency winter kit)

5:24 am

Whoa. Obviously since you are writing here you made it out OK but that must have been troubling.

5:24 am

Yes, Carlee--blankets, flashlight, water, food, windup radio,,,

5:25 am

matches... small metal bowl

5:25 am

I am a doc so I knew what was happening and told my sister we had to turn around and hike up. I wasn't drinking enough to keep up with water loss due to heat and exercise.

5:26 am

And, kat, always let someone know your driving plans.

5:26 am

well..they have my school schedule soooo

5:26 am

It's amazing how quickly that can zap you. I've lived here my entire life and I'm still not used to the heat.

5:27 am

today i work from 7:30 - 2..jumpin car....run down highway..physics from 4:30 - 6:30..then home for 8

5:27 am

Two days later I prehydrated and drank 132 oz of water during our 5 mile hike in Zion at 105 degrees.

5:28 am

good afternoon all

5:28 am

I thought you didn't have to take physics.

5:28 am

Hi Sprite

5:28 am

to go to bed...to get up and be on road at 6:30 ...lecture at 9... and i have classes until 10 tomorrow night

5:28 am

Oh, no. Why so late?

5:28 am

no..i was in the WRONG physics..i HAVE to have physics...to have my teachable in science

5:29 am

And let me guess, you didn't have to "go" once during the entire hike, you sweated it all out. It's amazing how you can do that. Glad you hear you were finally able to make the entire hike :)

5:29 am

my kiddie lit is from 7-10 pm once a week

5:29 am

Lowest level, non-calculus physics?

5:29 am

Yes, boa, no peeing for 6 hrs after hike began. Amazing!

5:30 am

yes... that is what i am in now... but the lecturer is fab....all about the demonstration...

5:30 am

And there are so many review books and excellent websites.

5:30 am

( that was our 10 day camp 2 summers ago scrabs...6-8 L of water/ day and no having to get up in the middle of the night to pee)

5:30 am

BTW, most of AZ stays at one time, but the reservations to do the whole daylight savings thing. Little known fact :)

5:31 am

That is a very demanding schedule Carlee.

5:31 am

I learned about that too, boa. I did lots of reading (and training) before the Bryce/Zion/GC hiking trip.

5:32 am

thankfully i dont hsve school friday... and i do actually have down time thurs...for i hope..tomorrow a nap somewhere

5:32 am

And this will be just 2 semesters, right, kate?

5:33 am

my schedule changes next semester..i actually have tues and fri off next term

5:33 am

then next fall i start teachers college

5:33 am

so 2 years of this nonsense

5:33 am

There are lots of smaller mountain here in the Valley of the Sun where I live that I used to climb to stay in shape and I'd see people hiking them with fully loaded packs all the time using them as training to get ready for hiking the Grand Canyon all the time.

6:33 am

Yes, I'm here :)

6:34 am

I was working hard on figuring out the last of the M's.

Hi! :)

6:34 am

Hey :)

I was awoken sometime after 3am by the phone... and a minor panic. Had to assist on G+.

6:35 am

I was just about to ask what you are up to? Everything OK?

It seems one of our contacts isn't discerning enough about who he adds to his circles.. one went a little nuts. I'll have to get him to put some of us in different circles... ugh. I don't know how it will work.

Even another of his contacts who knows this person thought she was nuts.

I can't really explain... and you don't use messengers.

6:37 am

Oops. That's not good. Even before you asked I put my G+ not to be on the public search and all that.

You have a lovely eye, btw.

6:38 am

HA!

6:38 am

Thanks :)

Yes, but your circle settings still need to be adjusted. Those who have you in their circles still show on your page and they shouldn't. Only those in your circles should... and only to your circles, not "anyone on the web".

6:39 am

OK, I'll fix that. I need to do that G+ intro thing.

6:39 am

Really the only other photo I have of myself on my computer is a pic of my arm feeding a giraffe. So its that or the eye.

I wish you used MSN messenger so we could talk.

It would make things so much easier.

Really? You're worse than Laura... who for some reason I'll never understand hates any photos of herself.

But she has more than you do on her computer.

6:41 am

I've heard of MSN messenger. Don't know what it is. I'll look into it :)

You're up awfully early aren't you? [yes I should talk but I got woken up]

6:42 am

Nobody ever asked me before so its never been an issue.

MSN's Windows Live Messenger... is what it is.

Oh. You've never chatted online with anyone before?

I have A few of them but MSN seems to be what most of my contacts use... family and friends.

6:42 am

No, not really. This chog is about as chatty as I get.

6:43 am

Oh wait, a few times on FB, but that was mostly on accident. I turned that crap off as soon as I could.

Oh?

It's just... you know. I can't get into detail here.

6:44 am

I shouldn't call it crap. That's not nice. Some people might like it.

Hey. Some people actually like (c)rap, too. :P

That doesn't mean I don't always type a (c) in front of the term, though.

6:46 am

I understand.

Although amazingly, I heard some I actually liked very recently... by one of our contacts on G+.

He's a cousin of a friend of ours and a university student studying computer graphics... but he plays guitar, sings and writes songs. Just a hobby for now, but he's good and he posts clips.

6:48 am

OK, I'm downloading MSN messanger right now...

Wow. That must've been some arm-twisting on my part?

6:48 am

Wait, what is in front of the term?

I'll bbiab... getting a drink.

6:50 am

Like I said, no one ever asked, so there's never been the need. And hey why not move into the 21st century? My geek friends would be so proud :)

I see, Sue... have you talked to ruru about that? He has to have both of his done.

i have lovely large pieces of titanium in me! LOL

You'll set off the metal detectors in airports.

8:12 am

no, neil, I didn't know that! I must say, I have had a lot of surgeries and the knee replacements were the worst - recovery and therapy are miserable

8:12 am

on the other hand now I can walk...

My friend has cadaver bone in her spine.

Once it's fully healed it's better though?

yes I do! and they test me for bomb residue every time too!! LOL

8:12 am

ha, I do that, Neil! So for me it is the scanners or the "enhanced" patdowns - personally I prefer the scanners!

8:13 am

ah yes, I have that in my neck, herin (have I mentioned that I am a mess?)

8:13 am

I have cadaver bone in my spine, both knees replaced and one foot rebuilt. Lots of metal in me. I go right to the little room in the airport.

i refused cadavar bone... have had my hip bone grafted to help me

Oh yeah, Sue? I think that's what I'd choose too.

Wow, Gail.

8:14 am

the new scanners are REALLY nice - just stand there for about 10 seconds and you are done!! no patdown, no residue swipes...

8:14 am

take the enhanced pat downs.those x-ray machiines are questionable at airports.they are topical or (scatter) machines) with large dosage..i will let the squeeze my harbles if they need to

8:14 am

Hi all

8:14 am

ah, you are one foot ahead of me, Gail!!!

8:14 am

yes,you are done..mmedium well

8:15 am

The foot was the worst of everything. Had my neck and both wrists done, too.

8:15 am

Morning Friends

8:15 am

howdy hego

Hi Hego and Gail and Cross.

8:15 am

(((MRP)))

8:15 am

Hi Hego

YAH just blagged toast

8:15 am

Good morning.

Hi hego!

And crossy!

8:16 am

crossy, I have read the technical specifications on the scanners in great detail (biological effects of radiation, and radiation in general, is something I know a lot about) - the excess radiation you get from the backscatter X-ray is about .001 of what you get from flying in the plane (because at altitude you get a lot more cosmic rays)

8:16 am

so if the flight is a 10 seconds too long you have already exceeded the amount of radiation you get from them

Oh nice. I do a lot of flying.

So I guess I'm getting well radiated.

THey used cadaver bone so her spine would fix better

8:17 am

kk sue, will take your word for it,but as a person who has absorbed untold number of mri,s in the last 5 years,i chose to limit what absorbtion i can

8:17 am

yes, but by being in the plane, not by being scanned

8:17 am

i should glow in the dark. lol

8:17 am

no, I get that, crossy, but in that case you would be better off taking the train or driving

8:17 am

Actually, I think I DO glow in the dark.

8:17 am

also MRI's don't involve radiation, although CAT scans do

Haha, Gail.

8:18 am

anyway gotta run to get to class (being the teacher I should really be on time) - talk to you all later!!

8:18 am

Good morning everyone!

HI mark

Ummm yes, that could be helpful, Sue.

Reminds me of a funny tweet my dad posted.

8:19 am

Now we have an explanation for Crossy's magnetic personality.

8:19 am

Hi Mark

8:19 am

May I have the z?

One morning I laughed to see this tweet from my dad: "This leaving the house at 9:20 am to get to work for 9:00 am just isn't working too well."

Amazingly, he hasn't been fired yet.

8:20 am

: )

8:20 am

Lol :) That sounds like my entire life.

8:21 am

I like that my boss is always late.

8:21 am

You lose 20 minutes though

8:21 am

z + german one

You lose it how?

8:21 am

ah, thanks

8:21 am

ty Dose and hi

Haha, my dad would trade bosses with you, Gail.

8:22 am

I don't know about y'all, but 20 minutes of work would be a lot to lose for me.

8:23 am

what, no hotties. Enable is a dull place. sigh..

Oh I see what you mean, Mark. Yes.

No, hego. Like I was saying earlier, I guess there are no hotties on Babble. :P

8:24 am

Hey! I wouldn't go that far. lol

Oh? Well I guess there could be. Oh yes, what am I thinking? There's mrp! :)

8:25 am

Hey Neil for now I signed out of Live Messenger. I've logged you in as one of my contacts but every time I clicked on your it said that your profile was not available. We'll have to try again later.

Yes, boat. I can't understand why that isn't working.

Can I have a clue for the ni7?

Which ni?

8:27 am

I'll have to consult my circle of geeks. Find out if I missed a step. I think I'm gonna crash. My eyes are drooping and I want to read. Thanks for the push into Messenger :) Laters!

I must go to bed have a great day.

ni7,40 -- something that's neat, cool, etc. which is usually a 5-letter word ending in "y", but this is a "plural" of that word.

8:29 am

See you later herin!

Then there's ni4,5 - ni + dad. And ni4,5 - bites.

Then there's ni5,10 -- person of Japanese descent.

8:30 am

Still missing that 7.

Tx nega!

And ni4,4 -- time of day following evening, but slang spelling.

And that's all the ni words.

I clued that 7.

8:30 am

I haven't heard anyone use the ni 7 word since the Fonzie era.

8:31 am

Yeah I know, but I didn't get it from that

8:31 am

and never the pllural

8:31 am

Ah, got it.

8:32 am

Yay Mark

Hmm, I thought that was about the best I could clue it.

8:32 am

It was a good clue. Dumb word.

At 6:32 am... after being awake since nearly 3:30 am.

8:33 am

:)

Yes, the word is a strange one.

What would it mean, ni*** things?

8:35 am

I guess I am old fashioned. I occasionally use the word.

8:36 am

I think it's used more in your part of the world, Mark.

If that is his part of the world? Read his bio. ;)

neil, i join you in the insomnia world...

8:37 am

Nah, not in Europe. I'm not in Europe. Anyone who is familiar with me knows I change flags all the time. My bio is stupid too.

8:37 am

Fun, Mark

8:37 am

Oh, by the way...

8:38 am

yes

8:39 am

Ope, got to go. See y'all later.

8:39 am

lol :-D

omg... watching 'gypsy travellers'... holy moly!!! the traveller weddings are incredible and their life afterwards are abnormal!! imo

8:44 am

OK, so I'm not going to bed. I'm too close to finishing this puzzle and its been ages since I've done that so I'm staying and working.

8:45 am

Go Boat!

ok, have organised a night in solitude, and a day tomorrow the same... except for the vet visit at 11.30am. night all :) accept your challenges and kick arse people! xox

8:45 am

8:46 am

Thanks hego :)

Good night mrp and sweet dreams. :)

Go boat, go!

8:47 am

I've got 24 left. I'm working on the two T's next to each other.

8:48 am

Thank You Neil ;)

8:48 am

Let me guess...you finished ages ago, smarty pants :)

At flip, boat.

8:51 am

9:27 am

9:28 am

P's done!

9:29 am

Five words left.

9:30 am

When I get these fireworks it will have been literally years since I've gotten then since I've been such an on and off player.

9:32 am

hi all

9:32 am

9:32 am

Hello, jmc.

9:32 am

Thanks jmc :)

9:34 am

i am at the computer lab my computer still at the shop :-(

9:35 am

One word left :)

9:35 am

Did you not have computer problems comparatively recently?

9:35 am

go boat bo! *gets confetti ready*

9:36 am

i was struggling with the computer and bought a new one that didn't work and took it back

9:36 am

so the hard drive finally died for good and i am just getting it replaced

9:36 am

It's my last 7.

9:36 am

That sounds wise - expensive?

9:37 am

not as expensive as a new computer

9:37 am

but not free :-(

9:37 am

Good luck. I've burned through a motherboard.

9:37 am

That's true.

9:38 am

the hard drive cost me $80 and i am waiting to see how much the labor is

9:39 am

Ah, found it :)

9:39 am

Or not :(

9:39 am

whoo hooo!!!!!!!!!

9:39 am

Oh, I just spelled it wrong. Oops :)

9:39 am

*throws confetti on boat*

9:40 am

9:42 am

sweet dreams boat

9:42 am

9:42 am

9:42 am

9:43 am

damn I am not even on my own computer

9:50 am

jmc,do not let them blind ya with science, with newer rigs i can jack in a new hard drive and be up and running in under 5 minutes

9:50 am

Oh look at that pretty grid...oh your just the prettiest completed grid ever....oh yes you are...oh yes you are!!!

9:50 am

haha boat

9:51 am

i actually thought about learning some basic computer repair myself when i saw him open the back of my laptop and take out the hard drive

9:51 am

i think the hardest part is grabbing the stuff off my old hard drive

9:52 am

"maximum pc magazine is the best way for a newbie to learn

9:52 am

maximum pc?

9:52 am

data transfer can take time,yes

9:52 am

yup

9:52 am

max pc mag is my go to for info

9:52 am

i think i would not be bad at it since i used to repair my own cars etc

9:53 am

i will look at that crossy i hate being dependent on others

9:53 am

all you have to remember about computers jmc,is that we do not actually build them,it is more trouble shooting, part swapping and making sure of part compatability

9:54 am

and grounding yourself before you touch anything

9:54 am

nbt

9:54 am

and i didn't even ask for a clue lol

9:54 am

ni 7 please for fireworks

9:55 am

well that was what i was seeing when he took the hard drive out

9:55 am

ni7 ends in the sort of neckgear normally sported by men.

9:55 am

you get a empty computer tower, find a motherboard you like and jam it in,find out what cpu chip fits and jam in the biggest one allowed, then add power supply, ram, hard drive, optical drive and wireless nic card, and a big badass video card and yer all done

9:56 am

okay i have some homework to work on and to get ready for a meeting at 1 so i will be off for a while

9:56 am

widows 7 partitions and loads itself almost so that is easy

10:09 am

Good morning!

10:09 am

i think its been ages since i have been on the chog at the same time as you. :)

10:10 am

It's been a while. I was in Bath for a few days last week so wasn't babbling at all.

10:11 am

How are you? The last time we talked you were somewhat frazzled with work.

10:13 am

about the same...heh i try to pop into the chog now + then but rarely get to stay for long + often have to disappear without notice.

10:13 am

my manager has been out of town for the past week, so i have been busy carrying a lot more than usual. it is good experience, but i am VERY glad to have him back today. :)

10:14 am

You can relax a little in that case, but at least you know that you can rise to the task.

10:15 am

for short bursts, at least. :)

10:15 am

Are you still keeping up your fashion blog?

10:16 am

so-so. i have some photos on my camera that i havent loaded in QUITE a while. i post now + then on the blog, but havent posted an outfit post in months.

10:17 am

I check in on it now and again and had noticed that the outfits weren't appearing as often as in the beginning.

10:19 am

yeah, things were busy with the wedding, then things got cold, then work got busy. im trying to figure out a schedule, but in the meantime, i just kinda gave up for a while... its still in my mind, though.

10:20 am

You can always come back to it when you're feeling more inspired.

10:20 am

You'll soon be celebrating your first anniversary. Imagine!

1:02 pm

Swearing to tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” dates back to English Common Law. Interestingly enough, there were no penalties for perjury until the 1600s; prior to that time, it was believed that the fear of God’s wrath was enough to keep witnesses honest.

1:02 pm

yay

1:02 pm

tc all..poink!

1:03 pm

Hego, it gets to the point where you have done the "gift" thing as long as you can do it.

1:03 pm

Yup!

1:05 pm

My friends are saving up for a trip to Hawaii for their 25th. : )

2:13 pm

how is everyone?

yw :-)

2:14 pm

just f4. how about yourself?

hi jes... beautiful "almost autumn" day !

2:17 pm

not too bad here, i guess. at work, of course.

2:17 pm

Hey Jes, have you seen the trailer for "We Bought A Zoo"? It made me think of you.

hubby just pulled all the tomato plants but for 2... we've had frost three times already.

Hi Molly :-)

2:19 pm

no, molly, haven't heard of it

2:32 pm

Hey Diane, I need to pull mine too.

they had a slow start... too cold. They are ripening quickly now, but I think I'll still make some green tomato relish. We leave for Arizona in 2 weeks so will be giving many to the kids as well.

2:34 pm

hi again, all, meeting in about 15 minutes so of course I am babbling!

hi sue :-)

2:38 pm

hi, Diane!

2:41 pm

<--- very disappointed that "hottie" is not a word

lol. !!

question.... I have 85 words ... says I have 2 left... but total is only supposed to be 86

2:43 pm

hmmm - are you using lickety or expert, or are you just on the site?

just pasted them into lickety now

2:43 pm

lickety has a more updated version of the dictionary than the site does, so sometimes there are differences

says I'm still missing a T word, but lickety shows them all filled in.

I will refresh babble

2:44 pm

well, my guess is that it's some difference in dictionaries, although usually lickety has more words than babble

2:45 pm

and good idea, that can fix lots of things!

amazing, isn't it ?? ... almost as good as a reboot !!

that did the trick.... one S word remaining

2:46 pm

oh, good. Anyway, meeting time, bbl!

later Sue. !

and Fireworks.... time to get something done around here !

3:05 pm

ni7 - clue pls

ni7,40 -- root is a 5-letter word ending in "y" for "cool, neat", etc. but "plural" that.

[even though it isn't a word you'd think would usually be pluralized]

3:21 pm

I'm looking for the ni7 too. It's all I need for Fireworks.

3:22 pm

Blank! Are letters 2 and 3 the same........

Well see my clue... hope it helps.

3:22 pm

after your forties you are in your...but first letter is n

The same in the 5 and 7 letter words? Yes.

3:22 pm

Aha! Thank you! Fireworks! Yeah!

3:23 pm

yw congrats!

Ok, that's a more obvious clue MPittore. Maybe I should give up cluing. :P

3:23 pm

Going in the wrong direction. Thank you. 7s done

3:24 pm

no never give up all are helpful...just some get the clue one way and others another way...we need each other...

3:24 pm

Now to the 8 ...........

Yes, but I guess I need to give simplier, more obvious clues.

3:25 pm

Oh? Ok.

3:26 pm

sorry

Ok, littlebit. Sheila?

3:26 pm

Sheila did you hiccup?

You can't hiccup when you're on Babble or that happens? Is sneezing ok? :P

3:27 pm

it was a cough ...........!

3:27 pm

ROFL

Yawning better be. I'm doing a lot of that.

3:28 pm

ok neil stand up a moment and take a few deep breaths...the oxygen will help

I'll start coughing if I do that... and maybe sneezing some more. Don't ask me how at this time of year, but I've managed to catcha cold which I've had for a few days now. Ugh.

"catch a" cold, even.

3:31 pm

passes hot chicken soup to neil to make him all better....

And I was woken up by a phone call sometime after 3am... and had to help out with a situation for about an hour. Ugh. Didn't get back to sleep for a long time after that!

Aww thanks.

3:33 pm

MPitt! Haven't seen you around in a while. How is your husband doing?

3:33 pm

si8...........adding a headache

3:33 pm

yw...just think what a nice sleep you'll have tonight being so tired from last night...

For sure, MPittore. I'm gonna pass out!

si8 sounds like an orchestra, but with a weird spelling.

Clue: one of the 7 deadly ones making a call.

3:36 pm

tried siphonia............no joy

3:36 pm

thanks for asking molly...he's doing pretty well all things considered...his last chemo is Oct 3, 4, 5...he had a CR scan and his tumor was reduced by 95% very good news...will have frull brain radiation sometime in late Oct. hope we can keep the tumor at bey for at least 6 months or more before it returns and all changes...6% of people make it 5 years...not great odds but we will take what is given us...

You're kind of close.

3:37 pm

*CT*

Oh MPittore. Sorry you're going through that! :(

3:38 pm

You are both in my prayers MPitt. He's lucky to have you by his side during all this.

3:38 pm

But not near enough...........3rd letter pls

3:39 pm

Thanks neil, and molly...we are lucky to have each other for 34 yrs...I pray he does not suffer...his oncologist said he will keep him pain free...

Sheila. One of the "seven deadly" ones... that gives you the 3rd letter.

3:40 pm

You hang in there MPitt. And remember that many good thoughts are being sent your way.

Then the entire word is like a phonetic misspelling of what an orchestra might play.

3:40 pm

Bless. Thank you.

I've just read your bio, MPittore. Has it spread to his brain now then? :(

You're welcome, Sheila.

3:43 pm

no his liver they radiate the brain to keep it from going there...brain cancer has awful results that usually require inpatient care

Oh I see... oh man. :(

3:43 pm

small cell lung cancer extensive is the most deadly and rapid spreading cancers...

I'm so sorry you have to face this. :(

3:46 pm

us too...but we try to find solice in the words that it's not how you die but how you live and we try to live each day in as normal a way as we can...what else can you do???...rather to be that way and be a healed spirit than to live a broken person....

Yes. There's nothing else you can do.

Every day you have will be so precious now.

3:47 pm

true...we have so many prayers and goodness from everyone including people we don't even know...such as the babble players...it is so kind and uplifting...if only the whole world could be like that more often what a great world we would have...

3:48 pm

"rather to be that way and be a healed spirit than to live a broken person...." am amazing way of walking through this MPitt.

3:48 pm

*an amazing

3:49 pm

in some ways we are lucky to know that time is shortened and we can do the things we want to do with each other when others just go without warning and don't have this time to say and do what they would have wanted to do

Amen to that, MPittore... if ONLY.

I guess.. yes, some just go without any warning at all and without any chance to say and do those things, you're right.

3:50 pm

see...we cannot change or control the past or what has already happened...we can only change or control the future...that is such a more positive way to think about anything..

Yes, it is. You have an amazing outlook and attitude about everything. I really like the quotes you've shared in your bio too, btw.

3:51 pm

positve thinking is a very powerful tool we all can have if we just use it

3:52 pm

You are a wise woman MPitt. I want to be you when I grow up. : )

Funny you should be saying that... to me. See my online name? :P

3:53 pm

Could I have a clue for the fo6?

3:53 pm

yes neal I did spot that name right off....perhaps you might think about changing it...

3:53 pm

Well nn who are you?

Like a toxin... something you wouldn't ingest because it's deadly, but different first letter.

No, MPittore... there are reasons for it. Some assume it means I'm negative though.

3:54 pm

fo6....never eat rat fo6

Those who don't realize I'm a photographer, for one.

I'm me, Concepta. Who are you?

3:55 pm

4:23 pm

Getting ready to do a little Mabon celebrating. The Wheel Of The Year turns yet again.

4:23 pm

what is Mabon?

4:24 pm

HOWTH , in Ireland and villefranche sur mer in france, every time I hit back space on iPad it sends my incomplete message, apologies to all who like proper spelling

4:24 pm

A celebration of the Autumn equinox.

4:24 pm

4:24 pm

aha, ok

4:24 pm

what do you do to celebrate?

4:24 pm

So you get to spend holidays in France. You lucky person

4:24 pm

Does the wheel turn every season?

4:25 pm

Give thanks for the abundance of the season that is passing and welcome the dark time of year. It is a time to go within and reflect.

4:25 pm

Concepta... I was born and bred in Clontarf!! My folks still live there.

4:26 pm

ok

4:26 pm

Well Soodle, I have yet to keep the wheel stuck on Spring. : P

4:26 pm

And Clntarf is where?

4:26 pm

Well, Molls, I will join you in giving thanks. (I refuse to welcome the dark time of year!!).

4:26 pm

FW. FYI: I am playing lexulous on FB

4:27 pm

for anyone who wants to play a game

4:27 pm

bye for now

4:27 pm

Yes even today 29 degrees ....I love Clontarf , lovely atmosphere and so close to everything , do you listen to imelda may? Shes in O2 december

4:27 pm

Bichon, Clontarf is only about 6 miles from Howth, where Concepta (partially!) resides. We are almost neighbours!

4:28 pm

ou could have a Babble meet-up

4:29 pm

Absolutely! Howth is the prettiest little fishing village in Dublin, and used to be my old stomping ground, back in the day.....

4:29 pm

Well, equinox is a time of balance. When light and dark are equal in the passing of time. "Focus on eliminating the bad, and strengthening the good around you. Put toxic relationships into the past, where they belong, and welcome new positive relationships into your life. Let your baggage go, and take heart in knowing that for every dark night of the soul, there will be a sunrise the next morning."

4:29 pm

<------

4:29 pm

Molly...I like that...

4:30 pm

My nephew looked at the red and White chimneys one day that puff out the smoke from the ESB and said "cloud makers"

4:30 pm

3 to go then off to cook

4:30 pm

Sorry, new computer and I'm not used to the keyboard. I was going to say, I am always welcoming to new relationships!!

4:31 pm

Aw, thats lovely, Concepta, and actually very accurate :-)

4:31 pm

How can I send that molly l saying on to some people who need to read it?

4:31 pm

Good old Copy & Paste, Concepta...

Way to go, MPittore.

4:34 pm

Molly where is that quote from?

You'll have fireworks in no time.

4:35 pm

1 left....

Oh, if you have Yahoo mail at the name you use on here, check it please?

4:35 pm

Go MP, Go....

4:37 pm

Fireworks....yippee!

Congrats, MP!

Did you see my post to you just now, MP?

At 4:35?

4:37 pm

Yay!!!!! Well done.

4:41 pm

yes but I don't think I have yahoo mail...I have email

4:42 pm

MPitt, the quote is an adaption from a Druid equinox prayer.

Well that is email... but you're not that person on Yahoo with the same ID name?

4:42 pm

It is lovely

Oh well, haha. Sent to the wrong person then I guess.

4:43 pm

Well I must be but I never use yahoo mail so don't know how to get it

Oh. You'd just log into that site with that name and your password and go to "Mail".

4:43 pm

Is it ok to give my email address on here or is that something I shouldn't do?

Mine is on profile anyway.

4:44 pm

You know what, Molls? That quotation is good for all year round, not just the equinox. Thanks for sharing.

And I have to go do a few things... so take good care. See you next time.

4:44 pm

I tried that but it didn't let me sign in as if I didn't have an sccount...maybe it case sensitive tho..

No, don't do it here!

If you put your address here, spam bots will grab it.

And god knows who else!

Mine is on profile... my player name -at- hotmail.

Oh yes, it would be case-sensitive.

I think? Not sure though.

4:45 pm

pe 5?

Come to think of it, I don't think email addresses are case sensitive.

4:46 pm

Sorry Bich.. I'm struggling with this grid. No Pe 5 yet.

But mine's on profile if you want to send one there. I've gotta get busy... so take care and TTYL. :)

4:49 pm

PE 5/12 pe + r*** and shine... get out of bed?

4:50 pm

tyvm Soodle

4:50 pm

email is pittorem@msn.com

4:53 pm

YVW, Bich :-)

4:54 pm

MP, I have often put my email address on here, and no 'spam bots' (whatever they are) got me!

4:56 pm

If you have a good spam filter on your email, not to worry.

4:56 pm

Spam bots, spam filters, I am a dinosaur.

4:57 pm

I was only just getting the hang of Facebook, and they went and changed it... :-(

4:57 pm

However, when Soodle posted her phone number here, she did get a delivery of 30 pizzas. And you were right Soodle, spam bots are things that scan sites for email addresses.

4:58 pm

(Kidding about the pizzas) Most email has a spam filter that will dump spam mail into a spam account and then delete it.

4:58 pm

And as well as the 30 pizzas, I got 23 dates and 14 indecent proposals. Life was never better!!! LOL

5:02 pm

hi again all, back from a LONG meeting. Where's the Guinness???

5:02 pm

Sue, you will have to negotiate for Guiness with Soodle, Uncle Aurthur's niece.

5:04 pm

Ah. Will do. :-)

5:04 pm

hey guys.. can anyone clue the IN5 for fireworks?

5:04 pm

i cannot see it

5:05 pm

and does anyone need clues before I go?

5:05 pm

Plural of the in4

will you be really mad when it is in4 plural

hmmm thought i changed my icon

ow.

5:06 pm

OH MY GOODNESS

5:06 pm

thx for that, molly and GE! who knew that had a plural?

5:07 pm

Well, the 4 going in different directions stumped a lot of people.

5:07 pm

yeah I totally didn't see it that way.. in fact even after knowing it I still had to look.. lol

5:08 pm

anyone need clues before I leave?

5:08 pm

Wiping brow....negative neil really scarred me...I think I just grew another wrinkle....I hope you all are correct and I don't get spammed...I use my pc to check for new research and protocols for my husband's cancer so it would be an especially cruel event for us when time is of the essence for us.

5:09 pm

hi, mpitt! I wouldn't worry, I get a lot of spam and have no trouble ignoring it

5:09 pm

praying to spam filter gods to protect me...

5:09 pm

in fact, the university is annoyed at me because I have my spam filter turned off; on the other hand when an email came through that beat their filters they came to me to get a copy of it. So there.

5:10 pm

ok my delirious mind is playing tricks on me now but I used to live in Hawaii and spam was a very good thing there!

spam sushi.

5:11 pm

ROFL laughing Kap

5:11 pm

I remember that about Hawaii, mpitt - always struck me as being kind of funny given all the wonderful fruit that grows there, and the fish, etc

5:12 pm

ok must run and fix dinner for hubby...looking for can of spam as we speak....

I'm not kidding about the spam sushi- it's a Hawaiian thing, really.

5:13 pm

spamaliscious!

It was on NPR. No joke.

5:14 pm

I believe you....people will eat anything...give me some lau-lau and poi....

5:16 pm

poi even comes in one, two or three finger poi...it's an acquired taste for mainlanders but we learned to love the islands and it's peoples and foods

5:17 pm

I will eat almost anything but REALLY did not like poi. Oh well.

5:18 pm

well, gotta run...later....

5:18 pm

6:05 pm

hi jmc

6:06 pm

hi grem and all others

6:09 pm

hi jmc!

6:09 pm

hey champ

6:09 pm

how's the drought going?

6:10 pm

Same ol'. Had some wee bit of rain, but not a dent.

6:10 pm

too bad it won't stop raining here

6:10 pm

Sad that we can't share.

6:11 pm

that would be a wonderful invention indeed

6:14 pm

Jury duty is over though, and it turns out that 20/20 was there all week, and we made the news big time.

6:14 pm

wow!

6:15 pm

I was the foreman, and they had me front and center. 15 mins of fame. :)

6:15 pm

today is international peace day and georgia is about to execute a man who is probably innocent

6:16 pm

what kind of case was it champ

6:16 pm

Texas is executing one of the men that dragged that poor man behind their truck years ago, tonight.

6:17 pm

a busy night for those of us who appose the death penalty :-(

6:17 pm

Texas and execution have been in the news a lot lately...

6:17 pm

my brother who was a gay texas man had in his will that if he were murdered that he opposed the death penalty for his murderer

6:18 pm

he died of aids

6:18 pm

It was an assault case, but the participants were a wealthy man (Dr. Michael Brown), and his young wife. It's a money/older man/younger wife thing.

6:18 pm

And speaking of drought, that's what, 4 low-count grids in a row now?

6:18 pm

They are going to execute Troy Davis and Casey Anthony got off scot free. I don't get it.

6:18 pm

true babble has had its own drought

6:19 pm

How would that wish in his will have held up legally JMC?

6:19 pm

Molly, after just finishing jury duty, I can say that what the jury hears and what the public hears are two different things. And then the courts gives them a specific thing to decide. So I'll never ever second guess a jury again!

6:19 pm

well i really believe the innocent until proven guilty stuff with casey anthony--like oj simpson there are all kinds of punishments

6:20 pm

True. The man we found not guilty is in his own hell, believe me. He's not a happy guy.

6:20 pm

it would have had no legal weight but i would hope it would have had a moral weight

6:20 pm

i was glad we never had to test it

6:20 pm

No kidding!

6:21 pm

but i like people to know about it since, as a gay man in texas, he took some risks

6:22 pm

people often think that if someone you love is murdered you will change your mind about the death penalty

6:22 pm

I'm sure he did JMC. I can't even imagine what it's like to be openly gay in some parts of the South.

6:22 pm

I don't think Texas is any worse than a lot of places. Look at Montrose! Anywhere you choose to live as an openly gay person I think there will be ignorant people.

6:23 pm

well when we were growing up in texas it was different--even in montrose

6:23 pm

although for a while in montrose i lived on the block where the gay whores worked so my brother had to take a cab to my apartment but i was safe

6:23 pm

Just sold a house to a couple of gay women, and the neighbors are glad they're moving in...no problemo!

6:23 pm

:-)

6:24 pm

I worked off Airline Drive and watched straight whores walking around. What a sight! Seeing the guys come off the freeway, pull over, have a quickie in the car and get going. Unbelieveable!

6:25 pm

and i am guessing there are still parts of texas like cut-and-shoot or college station where being gay is still an at risk proposition

6:25 pm

yes there was a part of dc where you used to could see butts of women sticking out of car windows and the car bouncing up and down

6:26 pm

Ruled by their hormones. Lovely.

6:26 pm

is there a computer nerd on line right now?

6:26 pm

perhaps!

6:27 pm

:-)

6:27 pm

Computer problem?

6:27 pm

i just got a new hard drive and the guy claimed to have installed everything drive to drive

6:27 pm

Hello again! I have a cooking questions. Anybody out there who knows about food or what foods blend well?

6:28 pm

he said he was able to use firefox but i haven't been able to and i can't even down load it it appears

6:28 pm

so i am stuck with explorer

6:28 pm

what do you want to know min??

6:28 pm

Did you have Firefox before this?

6:28 pm

yes i did

6:29 pm

i am afraid somehow he copied the corrupted files from the old hard drive--does that make sense?

6:29 pm

Ok,so I am making flounder with shrimp sauce. Would it go well with rice(broccoli au gratin) or egg noodles?

6:29 pm

personally i would prefer rice with that

6:30 pm

Sorry to interrupt computer conversation jmcnrick.

6:30 pm

no problem as a professional mother i am capable of two conversations at one time ;-)

6:30 pm

Okay, then rice it is.Thank you!I will be back later on

6:30 pm

by min

6:30 pm

er bye

6:31 pm

Hmm, never had any problems like that - what happens when you try to download it again?

6:31 pm

it said it downloaded but it wont let me open it--maybe i should try downloading it again

6:32 pm

Couldn't hurt, I guess.

6:32 pm

Maybe it's a "permission" kind of thing blocking you from installing it?

6:32 pm

well i think finishing the grid and my homework are probably the higher priorities since i can a least use explorer

6:33 pm

okay...not sure how much help I can be, but feel free to ask for ideas later

6:33 pm

hmmm i will check that too grem

6:34 pm

okay i will do the grid, my homework and then mess with the computer. the worst thing is to have to take it back to the guy tomorrow between classes

6:34 pm

that isn't that bad

6:35 pm

oh i know what it said--it tried to make it compatable with windows xp and i have windows 7

6:35 pm

maybe i downloaded the wrong version of firefox

6:36 pm

Now that sounds plausible! Hope you get it fixed. I hate explorer. Fireworks!

6:36 pm

whoo hoo champ

6:37 pm

last word was ti6. fishy!

6:37 pm

yeah i am not a fan either--i will resolve it eventually

6:37 pm

*throws confetti at champ*

6:37 pm

ooooh...fancy!

6:38 pm

Clues anyone?

6:38 pm

well i thought you deserved a little sompem sompem

6:38 pm

no i think i will try to ferrit it out myself for a while ty champ

6:38 pm

I'm still making hubby rise when I enter a room. Got used to that over the last week. ;)

6:41 pm

OK. Heading out then. Take care Jmc. Will be thinking about you!

6:43 pm

haha i will be interested to see how long he puts up with that!

6:43 pm

take care champ

6:52 pm

Proof that your mind sees what it wants to see. I was on a jewelry cleaning site, and there was a picture of a pendant that said "Nancy...Bob"...of course I saw "Nancy Boy". Hi Jesse!!!

6:53 pm

:-) i am sure he said hi back

6:54 pm

I miss Nancy Boy. Jesse

6:55 pm

Such a dear soul

6:55 pm

6:55 pm

He's not far from us.

6:56 pm

No, he's not Blue, that I believe.

6:56 pm

shoot all of a sudden my computer is going really really slowly

6:56 pm

He's the bright blue dragonfly who has been here all summer.

6:57 pm

Oh, dragonflies are signs of the spirit world. Blue is that you in your picture?

6:57 pm

Yes! I'm a Red Hat Ladie.

6:58 pm

blue could you resize your pic please?

6:58 pm

lady

6:58 pm

why is it huge?

6:58 pm

yes it is

6:59 pm

You have the eyes of a wise one Blue.

6:59 pm

how do I do that/

6:59 pm

i only have 12 words left and don't want to reboot until i find them

6:59 pm

open the pic in paint and there is a sizing tool then save it and reload it

7:00 pm

In Paint, click on Image, then Resize/Skew. 300x300 works for this site.

7:01 pm

sorry, I'm not that computer savvy.

7:01 pm

ty molly that is a better explanation

7:01 pm

no problem blue

7:08 pm

Okay Blue, if you are still here, I resized it for you. http://media9.dropshots.com/photos/69 8395/20110921/165207.jpg

7:08 pm

sorry if i drove blue away

7:08 pm

well done molly

7:13 pm

hi again, all! finally home, Frank is sick and my dad got divorced this morning.

7:13 pm

also Chrome is refusing to run and Norton has decided that my disk needs optimizing.

7:14 pm

hi all. Sorry uusue, sounds pretty discouraging

7:14 pm

on the other hand I have 25 left and am hoping to actually finish a grid for a change

7:15 pm

hi, mab! My dad is actually doing fine, he is glad that he has one less thing to worry about

7:15 pm

jmc, does the organization you used to head deal with the death penalty?

7:16 pm

Hope Frank feels better soon and glad to hear that your Dad has some closure.

7:16 pm

thanks, molly!

7:17 pm

Wow, they stayed Davis's execution.

7:17 pm

REALLY????

7:17 pm

WONDERFUL!!!!!

7:17 pm

Yep, it's going to The Supreme Court.

7:20 pm

OK, found a story - it's been delayed while the Supreme Court hears it but could still go on tonight.

7:21 pm

hi folks, I'm listening to MSNBC - I'm hearing that they're waiting to hear if the Supreme Court will issue a stay of execution - in the meantime, execution is delayed

7:22 pm

the SUpreme Court is not hearing the case, just deciding on a stay - if they issue the stay, then they can decide to take the case (he will still be alive)

7:23 pm

Sorry, I guess my information was incorrect.

7:24 pm

congratulations on your dad's divorce uu

7:25 pm

I've been watching the Davis case and doing the Amnesty Intl letters and petitions. I've been grieving for the last 24 hours. The Guardian says the stay was issued.

7:25 pm

i really doubt the supremes will do it unfortunately

7:26 pm

according to MSNBC they already turned him down once

7:26 pm

jmc, I was wondering if the organization you used to head dealt with the issue of the death penalty.

7:26 pm

no it only dealt with conscientious objection to war

7:26 pm

oh.

7:27 pm

THe Guardian may be confusing the delay (by the state) with the stay (Supreme Court) - it's a little confusing

7:27 pm

it seems to me that we should have evolved toward not killing each other in wars by now.

7:28 pm

If The Supreme Court already turned him down once, why are they now considering this again?

7:29 pm

it depends on when they turned it down before--there may be new reasons

7:29 pm

Davis's attorneys have indicated that there is new forensic evidence about the trajectory of the bullet, or some such.

7:31 pm

fo6?

7:32 pm

haven't got it yet

7:32 pm

Sounds like the word before the ivy that gives you a rash, Shirl.

7:33 pm

here's what MSNBC says about the earlier Supreme Court event: Davis' best chance may have come last year, in U.S. Supreme Court-ordered hearing. It was the first time in 50 years that justices had considered a request to grant a new trial for a death row inmate. The high court set a tough standard for Davis to exonerate himself, ruling his attorneys must "clearly establish" Davis' innocence — a higher bar to meet than prosecutors having to prove guilt. After the hearing judge ruled in prosecutors' favor, the justices didn't take up the case.

7:33 pm

thanks molls

7:33 pm

thx molly

7:33 pm

and what his attorneys are doing is challenging the identification of the shell casings as having come from his gun (although why they couldn't have done that sooner I don't know)

7:34 pm

i can think of a couple of reasons uu

7:34 pm

ballistics knowledge has come a very long way since his conviction.

7:34 pm

new evidence? improved techniques?

7:34 pm

I truly don't understand why the man was found guilty in the first place. The evidence was flimsy at best. And eyewitnesses have recanted their testimony.

7:35 pm

technology has changed and they hadn't gone down that bunny trial while they were pursuing the other avenues

7:35 pm

improved techniques mostly

7:35 pm

I was wondering about that - I would have thought that shell casings would have been harder to identify than the shells themselves (although I don't actually know much about guns)

7:35 pm

well there were originally 14 witnesses that testified against him molly--and i think only 11 have recanted

7:36 pm

i imagine he had inadequate defense to begin with = an over-worked public defender, maybe

7:36 pm

11 out of 14 still seems like kind of a lot

7:37 pm

i don't know mab--sometimes you can have the best defense in the world and with 14 witnesses against you you are going to lose

7:37 pm

and some of the jurors have said that they have changed their minds (not that it means anything now, legally)

7:37 pm

yes but they recanted long after his conviction as i understand it

7:38 pm

so i understand how we got here all except the part about why we kill people to prove that killing people is wrong

7:38 pm

I have all but lost faith in the legal system.

7:38 pm

Too much doubt - that's the amnesty catch phrase for this case. personally the death penalty should be abolished, i strenuously believe.

7:38 pm

i'm strongly agreed re death penalty, jmc

7:39 pm

I agree, jmc, it makes no sense

7:39 pm

well until we come up with a better system i will support it--it gets it right more often than it gets it wrong imho

7:39 pm

its just when it gets it wrong it gets more press

7:39 pm

si7?

7:40 pm

and the possibility (or certainty, really, given that we are human and make mistakes) that an innocent person could be executed makes the process untenable in my mind

7:40 pm

ends with not day, jmc

7:40 pm

not to mention the inherent racism of the system

7:40 pm

thx, dc!

7:40 pm

ty dc

7:41 pm

There are many on death row, I imagine, who don't get any attention. And may be innocent

7:41 pm

racism is huge

7:41 pm

that is why there is the innocents project mab

7:42 pm

si8?

7:42 pm

it uses law students to go over each death row case for possible appeals

7:42 pm

an orchestral piece spelled oddly, shirlock

7:42 pm

I'm familiar with it. I participate in Amnesty actions, etc.

7:42 pm

like an orchestra shirl badly spelled

7:43 pm

good for you mab! we each must do our part to make this a more just world

7:43 pm

*shakes the dust off cape and puts it on for first time in a while*

7:44 pm

7:44 pm

not exactly tom sw****** --bad jokes

7:44 pm

thx, jmc! funny word

7:45 pm

i had to clue it differently to a brit who asked earlier

i was going to say it comes after your 40s

7:45 pm

but i have been dieing to use that clue all day

7:45 pm

not part of the cultural lexicon?

7:45 pm

there's no w in the grid...

7:45 pm

haha good that would work too

7:45 pm

cute, TO! :-)

7:46 pm

it's the part that comes after the w that you stick onto the n, mab

7:56 pm

Hello Babblers

7:56 pm

hi wht

7:56 pm

hi wht. everyone seems to be finishing.

7:57 pm

It is a short and easy grid. I finished this afternoon.

7:57 pm

I just came back to see who was chatting.

7:57 pm

fw last word is first 10% which belongs to god

7:58 pm

well you are just in time for me to leave-- i have two papers to finish before 8:30 tomorrow

7:58 pm

jmc, you should have known that, being on Finance Committee and all. :^)

7:58 pm

Isn't that supposed to come first?

7:58 pm

well one is due at 8:30 and the other at 1:30

7:58 pm

haha yes you would think i would have thought of that word wht

7:59 pm

and now i am on the development committee of bym

8:00 pm

I just finished a very interesting phone conversation about putting solar panels on our roof. Does anyone have any experience with them?

8:00 pm

oh well no more excuse for not writing papers cu all tomorrow--hears hoping for a moderate sized grid tomorrow even though there is a chance i won't be on at all

8:00 pm

well, stay out of dirigibles (oh the humanity).

Off to watch Modern Family, about the only tv show that i go out of my way to watch. (hi wht, my AH pal)

8:00 pm

i am having them put on with my big building project wht

8:01 pm

i will take that advise to heart mab

8:01 pm

I am weighing the options, lease or buy.

8:02 pm

the technology has advanced a lot in the last 5 years and the ones i am buying have a 20 year guarantee--on the other hand no one offered to rent them to me

8:02 pm

That is one of the interesting options, a 20 year prepaid lease.

8:03 pm

if i was looking at wind power i might hesitate because there has been a recent breakthrough in making small windmills that would look like a rail on the eve of your house but too new to trust

8:03 pm

hmmm how do the numbers crunch wht? are you considering the time value of money?

8:03 pm

The upfront cost is lower for the lease but you don't get the income from the SRECs.

8:04 pm

and at the end of 20 years what do you get?

8:04 pm

yay, jmc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

8:04 pm

Well, whatever I do, the rate of return beats my bank account or the return on my stocks over the past several years.

8:05 pm

things with 20 years guarantees are likely to last longer than 20 years but we can assume in 20 years the technology will have improved

8:05 pm

ty uu

8:05 pm

if you are leasing them, will they repair them if something happens?

8:05 pm

so true that is why i decided to go with the big build on my house no matter what--including the solar panels

8:06 pm

with the 20 year guarantee they will too uu

8:06 pm

After 20 years, they say that we will have saved about 12,000 on an up front cost of 2,800 and I think at that point someone comes and takes the panels away, but I didn't ask about that.

8:07 pm

Yes, they cover the repairs. If I buy, then it is my cost once the manufacturers warranty expires.

8:07 pm

what do they mean you would have save 12k? that you will pay them 12k less?

8:07 pm

Of course, the question is, will any of these companies be around in 20years.

8:08 pm

haha i bought a swing set with a life time warrantee and the company went belly up the month before i called them because the swing set died

8:08 pm

Windmills won't work for us. We are tucked nicely into the side of a hill and are very sheltered from the wind.

8:09 pm

or do they mean you will save 12k in electricity?

8:09 pm

Given the weather lately, I wonder if I could set up a hydro-electric system in our downspouts.

8:10 pm

haha wht

8:10 pm

still what do they mean about saving 12k

8:10 pm

Basically, the payback is in savings on electricity, since our electric bill will go to 0.

8:12 pm

which of course depends on what electric rates do over the next 20 years.

8:14 pm

Really? You will have NO electric bill?

8:14 pm

well won't you have the same savings if you buy it as if you lease it? then the question is how much could you make if you sold the excess

8:14 pm

i doubt i will have one most of the year either molly once i install the solar panels

8:15 pm

The system they are specing out will produce just a little more than we use, Molly.

8:15 pm

i suspect electric rates will go up ;-}}

8:16 pm

I am not sure how much you get from the excess. It sounds like for most of it, they credit you for the kW hours, but if there is a lot of excess, they buy at wholesale, which is a lot lower than what you pay.

8:17 pm

I suspect the rates will go up as well, although they have actually gone down for us the last couple of years. I think they are getting a good deal on all the fracked gas.

8:19 pm

well the question is, then, whether the discount on the lease is greater than you expect to receive by selling your excess and any remaining value of the panels at the end of 20 years

8:19 pm

fracking. now there's a technique designed by the greedy

8:19 pm

So you just discontinue your PEPCO account?

8:19 pm

that is a term that would apply to most americans mab and nearly most western nations

8:20 pm

With the tax credits and the return on the SRECs thrown in.

8:21 pm

so does 'evil'

8:21 pm

no i would remain hooked up to pepco and if i need more than the solar panels produce i will buy it. if i make more it first is applied to amounts i bought from pepco and then the remainder is sold in a energy coop

8:21 pm

No, you have to continue your account. What happens is they put the panels on your roof, and when they produce more than you use, the meter runs backwards.

8:21 pm

well wht take the amount to buy less the tax credits and how does that match up to the lease amount up front?

8:22 pm

molly if i recommend my solar company to you i get a $50 credit!

8:23 pm

I''m in a condo JMC. So if this makes you have no electric bill, why aren't more people installing them?

8:23 pm

well most people use more electricity than i do--i have no central air

8:23 pm

The net purchase price ends up being $14,000 at a quick glance at these numbers.

8:24 pm

other people just haven't had the suggestion made to them

8:24 pm

other people are afraid the panels will be ugly or dangerous or too expensive

8:24 pm

and what is the prepaid lease?

8:24 pm

I have no central air and a gas dryer, so our electric bill is low to start with.

8:24 pm

Well that answers that question. Most people don't have an extra 14 grand lying around.

8:25 pm

The prepaid lease is about $2,800

8:25 pm

i have a gas drier and stove too

8:25 pm

How is "hotties" not a word?!

8:25 pm

It is interesting, they extend their projections for purchase out to 30years.

8:26 pm

But the return on those last 10 years seems to drop off a bit.

8:26 pm

you would have to sell $560 per year to break even

8:26 pm

for 20 years

8:26 pm

i am with you jafro

8:27 pm

I said exactly the same thing, jafro!

8:27 pm

hotties is a word

8:27 pm

well someone should tell that to Babble

8:27 pm

sorry, i didn't mean to interrupt your conversation

8:28 pm

no no not at all the chog is for all to talk in!

8:28 pm

so wht you have to decide if you think you could sale $560 per year for 20 years

8:28 pm

Not a problem. I don't mean for our conversation to interrupt Babble. And I agree, hotties is definately a word.

8:29 pm

lol!

8:29 pm

anyway i really must go write those papers -- hope our chat was helpful wht let me know what you decide

8:29 pm

Probably not for the size of the system that they are scoping.

8:29 pm

hi arw and bye

8:29 pm

bye, jmc!

8:29 pm

*poof*

8:29 pm

bye jmc. Good talking with you.

8:29 pm

Go figure. Enable accepts Australian slang (arvo) but not hottie or hotties.

8:31 pm

So much for the theory that Enable was created by a dirty old man from Scotland or Wales.

8:32 pm

<sigh> I have been working on this grid all day and still have 29 left. But, alas, it is time to sign off. Good luck all!

8:34 pm

there has been great debate on where enable was sourced from

8:36 pm

I think that some of it was created by drawing Scabble tiles from a bag.

8:36 pm

night, jafro!

8:36 pm

nice nebula, by the way :-)

8:37 pm

that is possible wht,i am of a mind that it may have bee created by watching words form in a bowl of alphabet soup

8:37 pm

Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?

8:37 pm

By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!

8:38 pm

howdy min and welcome to the grid

8:38 pm

Welcome Min, we seem fine at the moment.

8:40 pm

I am doing well too. Happy that my dinner turned out to be tasty.Never made it before.Made flounder with shrimp sauce. Thanks to jmcnrick for suggesting rice

8:46 pm

Hi there, Min. Have you worn your outfit yet? I just know it worked out fine.

8:47 pm

How exactly is that calculated, crossy?

8:47 pm

from the date of publication(he finished it 5 years earlier i believe)

8:48 pm

so he was pregnant for 5 years but we will go with the delivery date:)))

8:49 pm

Well, I think the gestation was much longer. More like 5 yars to get the birth registered :^)

8:49 pm

perhaps, but we will not split hairs

8:49 pm

I could never get through Tolkien. That genre isn't for me.

8:50 pm

if we can get over jesus being born in february sometime,we can cut tolkien a little slack

8:51 pm

i mean he did it all in longhand with a fountain pen:)

8:52 pm

Me either Mab. I loved the movies but the books put me to sleep.

8:52 pm

they did the movie well

8:53 pm

Yes,I wore my outfit today and it was fine, thank you

8:53 pm

Well, I think it is time for me to go. Have a good night Babblers.

8:54 pm

night, wht!

8:54 pm

gn wht

8:54 pm

Well I should have said The Lord Of The Rings movies. We have yet to see The Hobbit movie.

8:54 pm

they came out with one in the eary 80,s molly..was not very good

8:54 pm

animated

8:55 pm

I must have missed that. My kids watched a cartoon version so many times I think I know it by heart.

8:55 pm

Oh, that was the one you meant.

8:55 pm

none to date have been worth watching imho

8:56 pm

just finished 'god of small things' i think was the title; by arundhati roy. wonderful book.

8:57 pm

Goodbye wht! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.

8:58 pm

working my way through a few jack london titles myself:)

8:58 pm

I have read great reviews of that book Mab.

9:00 pm

then it is on to an author i have not read before she is called robin hobb

9:01 pm

What is the title?

9:01 pm

sec...

9:02 pm

liveship series, ship of magive, madship and ship of destiny..sf/fantasy stuff

9:03 pm

magic

9:03 pm

3 books

9:03 pm

oh. do you know that our sprite has published fantasy novels?

9:04 pm

in dutch..

9:04 pm

has she now?..i may have to hunt them down and run them through a language program

9:05 pm

she's a very very intelligent person; I'll bet she writes well.

9:05 pm

i am sure of it

9:06 pm

i sent her a few e-books not long ago,she eats up reading materail just like the rest of us lol

9:07 pm

you know you've been playing babble too long when... the list says "si7" and you immediately know what it is

9:07 pm

ever notice 99.5% of all babblers are heavy duty readers?

9:07 pm

I don't know her very well, but I can easily imagine that.

9:08 pm

I guess if you like words, you like writing.

9:09 pm

yes, LeslieAnn, you're definitely hard core...

9:10 pm

lol leslie, soon you will be ready to join gremlinn and company at the flip and kill off grids in 15 minutes;)

9:11 pm

When we had hurricane Irene coming toward us I ran out the the used book store and stocked up on novels.

9:11 pm

well i don't know about that. i still have to go to list!

9:11 pm

i have watched them..and it scares crossy lol

9:11 pm

that gremlin - she's a keen one.

9:12 pm

Babble would be boring for me if I could finish grids that fast. There would be no challenge. I like the fact that it is an all day word find for me.

9:13 pm

i asked dr _g for a monthly grid in the new build, something like a 10x10 grid with 5000 words or so to keep them all busy between flips on the regular drid;0

9:13 pm

i've got to go check out the troy davis stay - the U.S. is so brutal compared to Canada.

9:13 pm

grid

9:14 pm

i don't think there's anything new mab

9:14 pm

Still no word Mab. I've been checking.

9:14 pm

who is troy davis and what happened?

9:15 pm

a man going to be executed in GA. lots of questions about whether he is guilty or not.

9:15 pm

we do not execute up here

9:16 pm

there have been to many cases of dna finding people innocent ten years later,so cannot take the chance

9:16 pm

it's barbaric.

9:16 pm

gremlinn is scary fast

9:16 pm

howdy sue:))

The execution of Troy Davis is on hold.

9:17 pm

really?!

http://www.innocenceproject.org/ Here

9:17 pm

and I have already said what I think of the travesty in Georgia, it is embarrassing that we even consider executions to be a reasonable option

The scheduled execution of Troy Davis was delayed shortly after 7 p.m. on September 21 as the U.S. Supreme Court considered an appeal from Davis’ legal team.

9:18 pm

we gave that up in the early 70,s..too many prisoners get found innocent at later dates as forensics grows and elvolves and dna gets more accurate

9:18 pm

oh awaiting supreme court ruling, yes

The Innocence Project is where I get my infomation

9:19 pm

we have semi retired cops here who do nothing but go though old case evidance and when it is feasable, run everything relevant through dna screening

9:20 pm

we have had men and women found innocent after 10 years in jail, one after 14 years in jail

I am very interested on people wrongfully incarcerated as someone in my past's family member is in jail and innocent

9:21 pm

i am reading the atlanta paper - says expect word from supreme court in 10ish minutes

9:21 pm

an excellent organization, herin

9:21 pm

yes, just a delay. he still may be executed tonight - that's not cruel.

9:21 pm

tooth pulp dna seems to last a long, long time in a evedince bag

9:22 pm

And there have been many US prisoners found innocent after lengthy incarceration due to updated forensic techniques.

I am not against execution I am against it for when they are truly innocent

9:22 pm

the innocence project is almost a miracle.

9:23 pm

sometimes innocence can take time to come out

9:23 pm

unless they are prepared to hold them on death row for 20 years....

9:23 pm

I don't want anyone killed in my name. no executions, and no wars.

9:23 pm

10:18 Davis' attorneys say the U.S. Supreme Court has denied the stay

O fk

9:24 pm

davis has been on death row for over a decade. oh no

9:24 pm

I give up on justice in this country. I truly do.

But everyone one knows that eye witness testomony is faulty

Mab. When I say about execution there is at least 2 cases here that warrant it.

9:37 pm

here, for the real bad one, senior killers, child killers sometimes just tossing them in general population instead of PC does wonders

9:38 pm

though it generally is not as fast as the chair or lethal injections:)

9:39 pm

Sending out a prayer that this world we live in will find more peace and justice. I'm out of here because jokes about this are not funny.

9:39 pm

often it is laugh or scream, life is like that sometimes..and i am not joking

9:40 pm

but i see this is going to go off on a tangent,so i shall also bid you all a good night

9:46 pm

Goodbye crosshair! I will see you tomorrow in the log.

There is no jokes said Molly

And I have to agree with Crossie on that

9:49 pm

i must say this before i go,you can monday morning justice all you wish molly in its various forms and permutations.i do not agree with the death penalty, but if there is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is guilt,i do believe in justice.i am sorry it shocks you.did i tell you my wife, before she was my wife ,had a boyfriend who beat her,she would sow up at my motel to clean rooms with black eyes and finger bruises on her forearms.she was scared, said she fell down, said all number of things.i called the police,it was all smoothed over and she was scared.i fell in love with her a little bit and proceeded to hunt the boyfriend down..poor fella,i was chatting with him and he fell down the stairs,i tried to help him up and he hit his eye on the corner of a desk,i tried to sit him in a chair and a shelving unit fell on him..vigilante justice? perhaps, prety? it is not but when it happens to your own, then monday morning quarterbacking does not matter

9:49 pm

now goodnight all..poink

Cross that reminds me of the old stories of the court stairs here

9:51 pm

I remember you telling that story before, crossy

I have worked in the courts and I can tell you there was some characters that really didn't deserve to live

9:52 pm

I am done! I have fireworks! ni 7/40 was my last word

9:52 pm

I think vigilante justice should be a last resort (if that) and that the death penalty is never justified - we are human and make mistakes and that is a power that we should not grant ourselves over others - but I also understand that in extreme cases people can have different viewpoints

9:52 pm

yay, min!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

9:52 pm

I can't stay to clue, but I leave you w/story in profile

9:53 pm

Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow

YAH AND HI MIn

9:53 pm

and I do find it upsetting when people cheer executions - they should never be occasions for joy

9:53 pm

and bye, min!

Sue. There was one guy that I had to babysit that was a rapist and torturer. His attitude was ''Well she is just a prostitute. I paid for her''

9:55 pm

fo6 anybody?

9:55 pm

horrible, herin, and I would agree that he does not deserve to live - I just don't want to be the one that decides that

9:55 pm

if it began with a p it would describe a type of ivy you would rather avoid, dan

9:55 pm

tx uu I thought I had tried that

Having seen both sides both from the victims side and the courts side It took me a long time to form my opinions

Dan on FB if you swap to Leet Speek it behaves

9:58 pm

being the mother of a son who was wrongly accused (although not nearly such a heinous crime) I am sensitive to the rights of the accused as well as those of the accusers

9:58 pm

herin - I'm actually more amused by the kerfluffle than I am put out by the change :-)

9:59 pm

just as R.E.M. disbanding doesn't make me feel distraught, just old

9:59 pm

I downloaded an extension called better facebook, so far it is indeed better

Sue has happened to a friend to. All the way up to a trial date set in court. The bitch lied through her teeth and was caught out when her sister said something

10:01 pm

my son hasn't gone to trial, apparently the girl is known to the court as a liar and they are not prosecuting, but he has another court date in January and then will be on probation for two years - and she is the one who beat him up!

Sue that is wrong

10:02 pm

that is sadly typical for men in abusive relationships. :/

10:02 pm

I know. that was pretty much my point.

I remember a case here where the police told a guy that was being bashed by his boyfriend to ''man up''

10:03 pm

indeed, dc - if she had been the one covered in blood and vomit and with finger-shaped bruises on her neck, they certainly wouldn't have arrested her, even if he did say she'd pulled his hair

10:04 pm

but because he's the guy, he gets arrested on her say-so even though he had all the injuries

10:04 pm

that also is sadly typical, herin

I wish my neighbours had stepped in

10:06 pm

I hate to interrupt but could i get help with the second row, fifth column T?

10:06 pm

sue, also indicates that laws in your state need some updating.

Love to Harp but I have no idea

10:06 pm

hi, harp, we could use some interrupting :-)

10:06 pm

what holds a man's neck piece in place against the shirt.

10:06 pm

wiggle your to4, to4.4 babblet, another to4.7 babblet

10:07 pm

ti5/12, what the church thinks you should give them

10:07 pm

to4 -- carry to4 -- sound to5 -sounds

10:07 pm

the ti5 of a fork

10:07 pm

and the to4/7, the rest come from the other t

10:07 pm

it's the church one and the 4/7

10:08 pm

ti6 -- holds a man's neckwear in place

10:08 pm

to4 ends with a frequent-meaning word

10:09 pm

what about the single E?

10:09 pm

eo babblet

10:09 pm

eo5 -- babblet that's a dye used in microscopy

10:09 pm

it's an eo5

10:09 pm

eo5/10

On another note. Have you seen the video that a young man says to his dad that he is gay?

10:11 pm

that's non-specific, herin

10:11 pm

I've seen it posted but haven't actually watched it

10:12 pm

the one I was thinking of, the young man is in the armed forces and comes out now that DADT is history

10:14 pm

i'm sure there's been lots of that. I have a friend who was out in the AF, and resigned when offered a promotion to General, as he felt that as a gay man it would be inappropriate under DADT.

10:15 pm

there's been a particular one that I've seen on Facebook a lot in the past day or two - I thought that might be the one Herin was referring to

I have it on my FB wall. Seain it is part of the DADT

10:15 pm

i've seen no such on FB, though i'm sure it's widely circulated.

10:17 pm

4 left then i've gotta go backto work.

10:17 pm

ni7?

10:17 pm

working late, jes!

Seain: http://tinyurl.com/44og335

10:18 pm

found it on your profile, will watch later, thx

10:18 pm

troy davis has been executed in Georgia.

10:18 pm

n + I am no longer in my f****** (check my profile for my age :-)

10:18 pm

yeah, it happens, uusue. not actually at work now, need to go back in though.

10:18 pm

i had no idea that could be pluralized. thanks

And just when i was done crying

10:19 pm

thanks, I can't believe I missed the e

10:19 pm

me either, jes!

10:19 pm

pe5,12

10:20 pm

Some friends of mine (two men), got married in their army dress clothes last night at midnight

That is sweet Jane

Thank you Sein

10:21 pm

nm

10:21 pm

ok, I am off to bed, see you all tomorrow!

10:22 pm

si7 and si8?

10:22 pm

sleep sweet, uusue

10:22 pm

Si8 a classical music composition spelled in french

10:22 pm

si7 ends in not day

10:23 pm

french? my brain no likey

10:23 pm

misspelled sy classical compositon

Seain I am getting live stream from Demogracy now

Seain: http://www.democracynow.org/

10:25 pm

ugh. that's a terrible word. thanks dc, is fireworks.

10:29 pm

well done, jes :)

10:29 pm

i'll read about it in the morning, thank you though, herin

Can I ask do you think the outcome would have been different if he was white?

10:32 pm

why can't I think of any classical compositions?

Harp do you want a clue?

10:32 pm

oh, and statistically it would have been different for a white guy, maybe not this individual one

10:32 pm

and yes please herin

10:33 pm

indeed so, harp, not least in that state

The Seven Deadly ? and not real

I am just thinking that if 7 out of 9 people went err maybe it wasn't him how is this right

10:38 pm

Troy Davis is dead

Yes Torg been on that all morning

10:38 pm

Heck ya it would have been different if he was white!

I just don't understand.

A long time ago someone I knows Uncle was charged and thrown in jail for murder. He is innocent and it is pathetic that he is still there. I just don't get it

Lots of innocent people have been wrongly charged and convicted -- and imprisoned or executed. It never makes sense but tragically, it happens.

10:47 pm

so sorry about troy davis

NEil just makes me sad

Yes, it's very sad. Tragic.

10:50 pm

still can't get the 8\

si8,55 -- one of the seven deadlies. The entire word is like an orchestral piece, spelled oddly. Think French, maybe?

My head is all broken tonight sorry

That is one of the seven deadlies is the first part of it. Then the entire word sounds like an orchestral piece, kind of.

10:51 pm

oh THAT classical piece, lol

10:51 pm

finally! thanks!

Yes, good... you're welcome!

10:52 pm

nbt, nbs, and bbl!

These last 22 are bad

11:03 pm

Hi.

Hi Jac

11:04 pm

Herin - re the new Facebook, if you take time to check it out - it might be better.

I changed the language to English India and it is back to old school

11:05 pm

I haven't had time yet, to check it out fully that is, but the new way might allow more control for the user.

No it allows more people to see your stuff. My ex has been caught out in the changes.

11:08 pm

Well, I've fallen out with an internet friend of a decade - I was just so sick of seeing all her football posts and reading about the famous people she'd met. I only wanted to know about her and her real life, day to day. However, she posted something, once too often, aboput music vids (too many) wich obviously related to myself and another old friend from the site we all met on. I'd had enough, I said my piece.

11:10 pm

Everything on my FB is set to friends only. Mind you. I do have to go in and sort the friends lists now.

I am double checking'

Found a few people that were previously private are not any more

11:12 pm

I have mine set to friends only too ... since I have no friends ... it gets quite quiet.

Hi BR

11:12 pm

Hello BR.

11:16 pm

It wouldn't have been so bad, re the internet friend, ex-pat in NY, and myself if she hadn't phoned me in the past, asked how we all were and then proceeded to tell me all about the famous people she'd met without even pausing. When I told her, on more than one occasion, that I'd have to ring her bak because I was either in the middle of making or in the middle of eating a family meal, she wouldn't get off the 'phone.

People like that boar me

11:17 pm

Perhaps something about living in NY makes you totally selfish??

No I have people like that here. Just too up their own butts to think about others

11:17 pm

People like that bore me, too, Herin. Which is why I finally said goodbye to her the other day.

Sorry bore. I was debating which one

11:18 pm

boar = a male pig - usually a wild one. LOL

Or my ex :D

11:19 pm

LOL!

sorry my head is all stuffed up. Stupid pollen. I could close the door but the weather is lovely

11:21 pm

All men are not bad - most are nice. All men, good or bad, have the capacity to go off the rails, as do all women. It's human nature.

Actually saying that about my ex is insulting to a pig

11:21 pm

Hay Fever, Herin?

Yep

11:21 pm

can i please have a clue for the ni7? (even though i am a man lol)

11:22 pm

My son gets that, too. Inherited from his Dad , or my Mum.

11:23 pm

really neat-o cos, only with the superlative t at the end

11:23 pm

hey all

11:23 pm

Hi cos - mre man! LOL. ni7/40 - quick people. ni + consonant + men's neck wear.

11:23 pm

11:23 pm

11:23 pm

Hi stid.

Cos: 50 minus the F plural

Hi Stid

11:24 pm

11:24 pm

Hi Sew

11:25 pm

11:25 pm

Hello Sew.

11:25 pm

thanks lady! that worked!

11:26 pm

I am down to 35, and heading out. It was a long day, so I feel lucky to get my NBT today. (((Hugs and choclits for all))) *poof*

11:26 pm

si7 sounds nd looks like a bad spelling of Beethoven's music done by an orchestra.

11:26 pm

i though tthat was the si8?

11:26 pm

'Night stid.

Night Stid

11:27 pm

cos - whoops! Yes, it is.

Hello you are all amazing ... I still need to find lots of 4 letter words.....

11:27 pm

aww ok thanks :)

11:27 pm

si7 = si + vowel + 'not day'.

Hey Sew

Hi Cos

11:28 pm

thankjs jac got it

11:28 pm

y/w cos.

11:28 pm

hi herin

11:30 pm

fireworks

11:31 pm

My daughter's in Romania at present, decided to spent a few more months in Brasov, so don't talk to me about vampires, cos! LOL

11:31 pm

Well done on *~*~*~*~*~*~* cos,

11:31 pm

<--jealous of jac's daughter. would love to tour that area

And does fireworks mean what I think it does?

Jac I wish I was with her

11:32 pm

Herin - I wish she was with me.

11:33 pm

sew - it means grid is completed.

11:33 pm

sew - fireworks means a person has finished the grid.

Aeww Jac

11:34 pm

Herin, her Dad's going nuts about it and you hjave to know the full story to know why. I'll not be posting that on here.

Ok that is fine Jac I understand. Insert private reason here

11:35 pm

Off now. Other Half's just come down ready for his penultimate day of work.

Night Jac

11:37 pm

If you saw him on FB saying his a No Body at his firm, it's because, despite all the years and hours, and more than strictly necessary effort he has put in, hes' being made redundant on Friday under the new ownership.

Haven't seen that Jac. If you wish to discuss FB is up

now or later

Well gn babblers I tried but still have 27 words to find....tomorrow is a great day for a flip

11:38 pm

Add that fact to the fact that both me and my son got made redundant a month ago and you see why I am so pissed off and probably taking no prinoners re 'moaners'.

11:39 pm

sew -- if u wait 20 minutes the grid will flip

Night Sew. And don't blame you Jac

I will start again in about 8 hrs....zzzzzzzzz

11:42 pm

I have fireworks !!

YAH west

I really should make the best of the day and clean the windows

11:46 pm

that's a noble goal herin

Actually and more importantly I should go clip back the screechy tree

11:46 pm

Hello...

11:47 pm

Hi jellen

11:47 pm

hi jellen

No it keeps attacking the window and screeching

11:48 pm

today (yesterday) now was beautiful, weatherwise

11:48 pm

I know

11:49 pm

I misplaced my parenthesis

11:49 pm

We had a lovely day too, west...

11:49 pm

11:50 pm

11:50 pm

11:50 pm

hi jell

11:51 pm

Hi, jmc

Digging out a stump is good when you are in a mood

11:51 pm

unless the roots go down to middle earth

11:51 pm

i cannot imagine being in that mood herin

Well I poisoned the hell out of this damn thing. I poured straight up Roundup

11:52 pm

what's that?

Roundup is poison meant to blend it with water

11:53 pm

roundup kills disidious (sp?) plants

No idea but this thing was a weed. And a bad annoying one at that

11:54 pm

my spell check seemed to have died with everything else on this computer :-(

round-up kills everything and puts poison into the waterways

hi all

Vanilla you aware of Lantana?

flip flip wherefore art thou flip

11:55 pm

no, we do have an alternative to round-up cant think of the name

11:55 pm

hi all. any clues ofr the 8?????

11:55 pm

and hi

I shall refrain from guessing today I was humiliated the last two days

11:56 pm

strange spelling of orchestra with a maestro

Pest of a plant

the 8 is music but its a funny spelling

11:57 pm

11:57 pm

hi vanilla

11:57 pm

what kind of music?

11:57 pm

classical mkg

11:58 pm

looks like an evil deed to make music

11:58 pm

ty all.

11:58 pm

the ny philamonic si8

11:58 pm
