Oh probably. It's just that she's vegan so she uses them. But when she says "vegan butter" that just means a dairy-free margarine. You can get that in supermarkets. The other stuff would be found in most health food stores.

most margarines have some dairy in htem -- just ask stid, who is allergic to anything from a cow.
Nothing dumb about it, ru. It doesn't contain saturated fats, which real butter is. That's what clogs arteries... that's why people use that. I started using margarine instead of butter for that reason. We've had some heart disease in our family.

Kinda worries me... even though I'm young yet. It's what you eat over the years, you know. I just cut out the fat I can. I don't have a real weight problem either but I will get a gut on me if I eat too much fatty stuff.

Not all margarine does jilli. The cheaper ones do but there are some that don't, made with olive or canola oil.

That was just a weird thing to say because I'm not vegan. I just try to cut out what fat in my diet I can... figure it's healthier than eating too much of it! And yeah, I plan to quit. Like I said the other day I don't plan to still be smoking in my 30s.

Oh. I took a Holocaust class in college and when it came time for the final on the front of my blue book where you are supposed to put the name of the class I wrote Burnt Offerings instead of Holocaust. I was on good terms with the professor :) When I got my blue book back I could tell that she noticed :)

Not that I recall; I graduated in 1972
She was there way before that. Don't know when she graduated. She was an education major too I believe.
I knew people a class or two ahead of and behind me, but that was about it
Hmmm - I'm not sure we actually had education majors (at least not while I was there); I majored in physics. At the time, the most popular major was psychology
Anyway, that was my mother.She went to that school
I'll have to ask her next time I speak to her when she was there & what her major was.Is that a 4 yr school

My brother had a radical mastectomy for breast cancer when he was 40 years old; I've lost aunts from both sides of my family to breast cancer, and my step mother had a lumpectomy for it too.

my stepmother is now cancer-free for 6 years. My brother is 10 years out; so hopefully he is "cured". I had a lumpectomy too for a "pre-cancerous lesion" when I was around 30 years old and am very much aware of how this disease affects people
It seems to touch everyone, nef! My very close friend Eileen was just diagnosed in April and she has just finished chemo.
I remember the 1st surgeon I saw (for my lump) wanted to do radical mastectomies bilaterally; but I got a second opinion and went with the 2nd doctor. I'm glad I did!
The good news is that women aren't dieing of the disease like they used to; and surgical techniques have improved a thousand-fold since 50+ years ago!

I even got to nurse my 2nd child (they wouldn't let me nurse my son, however; it was about 1-2 years after the lumpectomy)
