thinking about listing, too stuck with 14
basenotes is a site/forum about perfume. It has a great directory of fragrances, and the bbs are a lot of fun. Perfume is a new pastime for me, and having others to obsess with just ads to the fun :)
basenotes.net for anyone who is interested. I had asked yesterday if there wereany basenoters here.
I heard an interesting interview on radio.. guy who runs a place called.. i think.. "I hate perfume"
he has one called "in the library" and I gather it smells just like old books.
"Walking in the air" is supposed to smell like new fallen snow

There's a zillion perfume blogs out there. I've heard of "I hate..." I like yesterdaysperfume, nowsmellthis, and thenonblonde, amongst too many others to mention. I've gone a bit eBay mad on vintage scent, tho I've stopped for the time being to enjoy my haul.
Demeter fragrance library (at Sephora and elsewhere) popularized "real" fragrances. Dirt was one of their most famous.
taDah Dee!
I don't wear perfume. I'm in choirs
and a woman in tax class has to leave if someone wears scent
yay, Dee, and hi, all! :)

we have had that problem at the bridge club m9
when I was in a pit orchestra we had a no fragrance clause in the contract. I wear at home for me, mostly. put on before bed.
there are so many allergies that we had never been aware of
do you put it on your linens too?
what instrument?
I use to wear it when I was a stay at home mom - gave me a bit of a lift

oh wonderful! The young man who played for our messiah concert was fabulous. I love that sound
Here's a poem I wrote today:
I'm always glad I play the bass, except to look for a parking place. Studied with a guy named Barry , who taught me much, 'cept how to carry my gargantuan fragile friend of wood. I traverse through a neighborhood, of shuttered stores where's parked my beater, on the way to a sparkling theater. Too cheap to lay a fiver down, I know each street space in this town, behind the Goodyear, in front of the bar, Nobody's stealing this old car. The bass—it is another matter, I always answer to such patter as "What's it worth, how much it cost?" "If you can't play it, please get lost." I was young back in the day, here and now I'd have to say, tender that sawbuck, pull into a space that makes it easy to carry a bass.
HA ha.. that's awesome
thanks. I'm glad you enjoy the sound of the bass. once I started, I was hooked.
great poem! :D

sounds like cleveland to me mele-on
melon
how'd you guess!
i live in the heights
knew a few people in the orchestra-lol
E17th and Chester. Goodyear was the tire place, and Moe's was the bar. There was a flophouse across the street; we christened it St. Moe's.
ha.. He gave up on the batcave . He caved!
Which Orch? I was Ohio Chamber, not THE Cleveland. They are my heros.
did you know klaus?
I live in the Heights!
I lived in Cincy for a year. That was enough Ohio for me.
hah, just saw your pic. I saw a deer on Kildare by the HS, a buck no less! They are getting bold.
got my masters @ UC/CCM.
Roy?
there is a heerd of 10 that tramp through my yard every damned day- including an 8 point buck..... makes me salivate to think how he would taste
does taste better...
But I did like to go to free student concerts at the music conservatory. And the art museum is free to public because of a grant some family made
doe deer, I mean
I used to live in Berea. There was a one-day deer season in the park. Overpopulated to the point of disease.
yes roy...... he was a friend of mine- he gave me a marvelous cane when my arthritis started getting bad-- i have had more compliments on it
Never knew him, tho my ex's family did. I was married to a Cumberworth for a while.
m9, CLE is an affordable place to live and get culture. And, truth be told, global warming has been good to us—less b*tching about weather.
gary tischkoff?- violin / cleveland orchestra
gary's wife and i were on the pta board - our kids went to wechool together
true melon- like today- we had no snow and it was a wonderful holiday with teh weather
I remember seeing him in the orch, also Lenny Samuels. As kids, we wondered if that beard ever got caught in his violin. I studied with Irv Nathanson, knew Gino Raffaeli, Diane Mather, most of the bassists, Eddie Ormond, Franklin Cohen, whose late wife played with us at the ballet and opera, and others.
I took a nice walk, it was in the upper 40s.
well.. I gotta do some laundry. 89 to go.......
I have a dental appt in 5 1/2 hours. This has got to stop! (reproaches self for nightowlish habits)
i knew gino also- i was a pharmacy tech for 30 years and filled a lot of rx's for the members
and a lot of the rich and famous of cleveland
Lee Silsby I'll guess. I'm one of the poor and obscure.
not lee/sislby but close to there-lol
sammysmom, it's been fun catching up but I really really must to bed! LOL back and see you @ babble! nite, all [poof]

anybody here?
Hi ruby - happy holidays
hello dianne, Happy Holidays to you, too!
finally finished cleaning the kitchen this morning. Totally collapsed by last night!
Me too. Now just enjoying a relaxing Boxing Day.
husband is out buying MORE FOOD! why why why
I'm hoping that the leftover capon flies away!
There's a famous food critic in the grid...
Happy Christmas Ruby and all Babblers
I see him Ray100 far fewer phantoms today - yesterday there were loads
Morning scouser, Ray, ruby, Dianne and anyone below the limits of my screen! Happy Boxing Day. Hope you all had a lovely time yesterday.
Er... anybody here? Or am I all alone?
Hello hydra! Just got here.
Hello Hydra & Jac - just sitting back down after eating Xmas leftovers for dinner tonight. Hope you both had a happy and peaceful Xmas
Hello lynxxx. Just having a morning cuppa before preparing for guests arriving for dinner.
Hi Jac. Was just playing Words with Friends against you in real time! Hi lynxxx. I had a lovely Christmas, thanks. Good food, good company and super presents.
We have no visitors today. It's couch potato day!
hydra - it was just 3 of us yesterday but we spent most of it preparing for today! Lazy day tomorrow, hopefully.
We're just getting the hose back into order but also hit the shops for a few hours for the Boxing Day sales (that go on for 3/4 weeks). Daughter moving into studio apartment so fun picking up some v. good bargains for her
hose = house
I did wonder!!!
lynxxx. I guessed you didn't spend Xmas in a hose. LOL
Rather you than me in the Boxing Day sale crowds.:-(
I have no cash for sales this year, but there's nothing I really need, so that's OK.
hydra - ditto.
My partner gave me a smart phone for Xmas, so I must spent some time getting used it, amongst much cursing, no doubt!
I've not been to them before - but we were very focused. We were shopping just for her - like you, I have no need for anything (I guess this is a sign of being too old!)
Mr Grumpy came up trumps!
hydra - so, if I get a text full of swear words I'll know it's just you trying your new phone out. LOL
Well, when I buy new things now, I wonder how many years I'll have left to use/wear them!!! Yes, Mr G definitely did. Thermal slippers, perfume and a phone. What more could a lady in a chilly house need? My sister gave me a lovely thick, furry fleece so all my needs are catered for. And someone else gave me thermal socks!
Yes, Jac, that will be it!
lol - you MUST have been bi***ing about the cold something awful!
Ha ha! Yes indeed!
Halfway through, so must make a coffee and shoot the blackbird that has taken up residence outside my bedroom window and exercises its vocal cords at 3 am. It's warbling away now. I'll cast a laryngitis spell on it, I think!
LOL!
Bye bye blackbird
It's ironic, isn't it? I encourage birds into the garden, then one goes a bit too far. 'Blackbird singing in the dead of night...'
lynxxx - I'll be singing that all blooming morning now!
I suppose I could lie there imagining it is a romantic nightingale...
.. and Keats is writing a poem.
You could get another 23 and bake them in a pie like in the nursery rhyme. Mind you, that didn't stop them singing!
lol
We have a flock of Rainbow Lorikeets around here (inner city - usually in the bush) Gorgeous birds - but one does get mightily sick of the screeching and the destroying of trees as they rip all the foliage and bark off the trees
I must look them up, lynxxx, and see what they look like. We have ring-neck parakeets here, but they have taken up residence in someone else's garden, thank goodness.
Just googled them. Those colours! Beautiful!
See you later. Going downstairs for that coffee now.
Aren't they. They swoop around in flocks of at least 50 - chattering away to one another
I've got to go, too. Lovely to see you both! x
Bye Jac - have fun

Not really, but I think you can check the archives. On another note, is anyone else finding Babble a bit slow today? It takes forever to accept my words.

Good Morning Everybody! I'm back after a week of being mostly offline! (I was afraid my computer had a virus since it wasn't working right; turned out it was the network that was screwed up).
hi all and especially nef!
hi jmc! Hope you had a very good Christmas
i did how about yourself?
it was good; but too quiet. DIL sat it out and didn't come for any of it; she also ignored her family too.
phone
And my dtr has now slept through the last 40+ hours; waking only to eat and potty. I'm worried about her
back i can understand why--is she depressed?
... is she a university student who gets up at 4 in the afternoon and goes to bed at 7 in the morning? ... I got one of those ... ... means you never see then except to eat and shower
yes; she's been dealing with depression this past year; but (to me at least) this is a bit much for *just* depression.
sorry nef, but 'just depression'?
no, dose, she's 29, has a full time job, just moved into the condo (we now own), and is in roller derby in her spare time
idepression can rob you of everything and any motivation at all
... been there too ... there is no such thing as a bit much for "just depression" ...
hello all
That's right, it's a very serious thing
`
but how can she do all those other things and keep up with them and then sleep through Christmas?
catching up maybe
did she not get up and celebrate at all?
sometimes, even if you are depressed, you can put a 'face' on for others...when you have a chance you just withdrae
... "just depression" ... ... lols of ways to compensate and pretend it doesn't exist
hi mask i don't think we have met welcome to the chog

I'm very worried about her; I want her to go in for a full physical and evaluation, etc.
hi pms kallia and dose
have you asked her why she is sleeping so much?
is she receiving treatment for her depression?
Hi everybody
hi everybody. I welcome all ideas and thought about this here (that's why I posted it)
... if you're worried ... seek professional help ... sooner rather than later ... I was lucky ... it worked at least somewhat for my kid k
<----- suffers from depression....
*pulls up a reclining coach for nef and pulls out a notebook and pen*
me too....
hi car
Hello!
<---also suffers from depression
hello car
LOL! Thanks, jmc! :-)
... don't mess with it ... and don't ignore it ... and don't hope it will go away ... ... and don't get fooled by a show of happiness ... ... ... end of advice and pontificating
*starts handing out stickers which say "i suffer from depression and survive" to babblers*
I agree with everything dos says
I handle it with medication and regular counseling. What a difference it has made in my life.
but start by asking her--it may really be that she has a cold or something very basic
I bet you'd be surprised at how many need the stickers jmc
her Dad has sleep apnea, I have narcolepsy; she is ADHD and has had depression in the past. I spoke with her about this being abnormal and she snapped and snarled at me; so --I just don't know...
nbs
i bet i wouldn't kallia haha
oh snapping and snarling....can relate to that!
*looks for muzzle for kallia*
guess I've needed it sometimes jmc lol
darn i think i may be out of muzzles to protect from bites!
*givees kallia a piece of belgian chocolate instead*
oh I don't bit....bark is louder etc.....
bite
oh lovely thank you
I don't deal well with snapping and snarling; I don't *LIKE* psych nursing! Especially at home!
... yes ... chocolate cures everything ... ... there was a sale on chocolates on the 24th ... I'm set for most of January
*gives nef a piece of belgian chocolate too*
Is she actually getting any treatment at the moment Nef?
*passes around big box of belgian chocolate for all takers*
there is plenty there even for you lurkers!
... yummmmm
ummmm...melting slowly ....delicious
she "sees" someone about once a month; but I'm not sure if that's strictly for the ADHD or if it's for the depression too.
Chocolate is good; I'll open a few gift boxes here too
is she on any medication, or does she not tell you these things?
I'm not sure about depression meds; she's on meds for the ADHD, migraines, and BC pills (for severe PMS and mood swings)

Hi WV!
good morning all
gm
hi wv! how are you today?
hi wv!

hi kje
hi kje
i was just reading up on boxing day, st stephens, king wenceslas, etc
i was just trying to see if my last paper was marked up and it was in this automatic correction system. . . .and the system consistently made errors. It was bizarre.
Nef, the only time I ever slept like that was when I had mono. And I had it as an adult, before everyone starts saying that people over a certain age don't get it.
ah boxing day--day for noblis oblige
good point molls i had it when my son was 2 and during tax season one year
and good morning molls
i found it sad, that like other holidays, it has become so commercialized, but especially ironic that it was the day to give to the poor or servants, and instead it has become the biggest earning day of the year for merchants - opposite of its goal... irritates me
it was the day for the lord of the manor to give to his tenants and servants--not all that pure
thanks,Molly for the input. She isn't acting sick other than the sleeping. I had mono when I was 21, but that was eons ago and I don't remember anything at all about how I was otherwise....
partly - but also the day to give out the alms boxes... the point was giving to less fortunate, not lining the pockets of the wealthy... just so ironic, like the uber commercialization of christmas
just sleepy as hell and a slight sore throat
when I opened my mailbox this morning, I had loads of emails, which started right after midnight christmas eve and continued throughout x-mas day, all for sales
ah well i only give the stores my store email address so i can ignore them mostly
I thought boxing day was also when the rich gave away their old items (sort of to make way for the gifts they'd received?)
didn't read anything about that nef
The only other symptoms I had when I had mono was a slight headache and a low grade fever that would not respond to antibiotics.
no i think that may be a modern version
That's good, kje. I'm not sure where I got that idea really;
whenever i start getting a sore throat i try napping now since it is often a reoccurance of the mono
i need help with the u please

how you doing ru?
i wish there were here but there are a few good places now--not like when i first moved up here
feeling a little slow today..
dc, jmc?
you look sluggish
<---- holding myself back
yeah dc
why kje? spirit of the season?
rosa's, though not cheap, is pretty authentic
it is lovely
also... about a 30 minute drive for you, but there is a little place between dc and b-more that is very athentic... run by a family from mexico city... let me see if i can remember the name
but i generally have to opt for cheap
Good day to all.
i would go there to get mole when i lived up there as no place else could really make it decent
there is a good one in harrisonburg too
and it is cheap... damn, what was it called
mole? there is decent mole up here?
gm scrabs
el azteca in clarksville!
man i love google
jmc, is your icon what your house looks like now?
How is everyone? How is the grid?
oddly enough i saw pork tamales at the safeway in time to eat them for christmas eve--and they were actually good
hi scrabs
pretty much--there are always changes
hi Scrabs
the stuff people think is scaffolding is trellises
google is the bomb
we would drive to clarksville from baltimore just to get mole enchiladas
How are you, Nef?
I felt bad that your simple little renovation was still so far from completion!~
my sister's girlfriend/partner sent us tamales for christmas but i had to leave them at my local's sister's house until i get an icebox
mole enchiladas is making me hungry i will have to go out there with my sister
jmc... send me your address on fb... I am happy to mail you some tamales
here today.. gone tamale.. i guess
Silly Ruru.
oh nef life could be wurst -- my construction guy did chemo during most of the construction
Wow, Je. How did he manage?
i will look you up later today kje--i am feeling like i have a vanilla pudding headache coming on
his doctor was amazed but he said if he had stopped he would have died--he had to keep going
i need food... bbiam
am I dreaming this or is this conversation for real..what's a vanilla pudding headache?
How did he have the energy?
one day he brought his brother over to the site because he thought he was going to die and he wanted his brother to know what to do next
Do you need vanilla pudding to get rid of the headache or is the headache from vanilla pudding?
funny thought - ru sleep babbling
that is when your head feels like it is full of vanilla pudding--enough to put pressure everywhere
What type of cancer?
i think my mother made up the term but i find it accurate
i am not sure but something connected with bone marrow
he wants to finish this job almost as much as i want him to finish it
Well, he is a tough guy that wants to live.
yeah you have to admire him
so it helps put the construction into perspective for me
I'm totally amazed that he's still doing thisjob, then
I woke up with a migraine because I slept too much and my brain doesn't like that.
he is here every day
Happy Boxing Day Friends!
hi hego!
Hi Hego
too bad scrabs
Hi JMC
hi hego
ru must be slow he didn't even take up my "things could be wurst"
I am waiting for naproxen to work. I might more caffeine too.
ru do you need coffee?
But he is sleep-babbling, remember? This is a dream for him.
oh in that case i shouldn't wake him up -- it might become violent
coffee for you scrabs?
i think we should screw with his brain while he is asleep
Yes, please. I asked the rabbit to get me some but she remains sleeping under the couch.
but how will we be able to tell the difference kje?
silly rabbit
Rabbits can be disobedient.
'morning, folks
*pours scrabs a cup*
hi welki
Ruru, did you get your 2020 calendar yet? Boy, 2019 really zipped by.
Hi Welki. Are you feeling better now?
Welki! How are you? Back to 100%?
El Azteca is great. I've been there.
hahahahahaha
excellent point, jmc
Hi Molly
i think so, scrabb - but it's been so long, i don't remember what 100% feels like anymore! *lol*
el azteca has authentic refried beans... made with lard... that's how you know you are dealing with real mexican food - lol
right kje
Are you tired, dragging? Is cough gone?
oh yum beans with lard!!!!
kje, sp5. Celiac sp5.
sure i'm tired - that's 'normal,' the cough is lingering, but not horrible anymore and from what you've told me, i shouldn't be surprised that it's hanging on
mole enchiladas, jmc... not that far of a drive!
ty Scrabs
damn it kje you are making me hungry and i have to stay here for a package
love mole
I'm glad you are virtually over this. Many wks were lost to this illness.
What is mole, anyway?
like water for chocolate :)
it's a rich sauce for chicken
great book
:)
it is a pumpkin seed and chocolate spicy sauce that properly made takes days to make
everytime I see it I gopher it
scrabs pronounced mol lay
mole is a paste made from various chiles and spices.... different types from different parts of mexico
you animal ru
lots of different chilis
yay! Ruru
but always chocolate powder no?
mole poblano (the brown one with chocolate, peanuts, chiles) is the most common one found in the US
no.. you can use bittersweet chocolate too
no, not always choclate
Interesting.
really see you learn something new every day
but mole poblano has chocolate... that is the most common one
MOle is wonderful
Ole mole!
I made Mole once and it came out great..but it is a tremendous amount of work
OLE!
Chef Ruru speaks!
but worth it ru! such a rich, deep sauce
That's what I've heard, that it's a LOT of work.
i made it once and it took me two days
Medical question, kje. My almost 89 yr old uncle just underwent bowel resection for a redundant bowel + obstruction. Is that a common condition?
(hego, this is all a dream to him... he may never have really made the stuff)
yeah.. it takes a couple of days
yes, not for me. too lazy
not commonto be found at that age, but can happen
I'm not lazy in the kitchen, but anything that takes two days to make is not worth the trouble. I'll leave those recipes to the experts.
important thing now - MOVE... he must get OOB immediately
RIck Perry has a bowell obsrtruction
I just got done cooking for 2 days. lol
no he is one your verb is wrong
I love how the two concurrent conversations are food and bowels.
Now there's a bit of news, Ruru.
So far he is doing ok. Was extubated within 10-12 hrs. Pain is controlled. Yes, I told my cousins to make sure he moves and takes big breaths, and get the Foley out.
lol molly!
lol Molly
Sorry to discuss bowel issues while discussing Mexican cuisine.
sounds like he is still in the icu? move him out fast, and get him oob
doesn't bother me
most common complication of hospitalization in his age group is disability from bedrest... doesn't take long at that age due to poor reserve
Oh it's okay Scrabbs. We are an "anything goes" kind of group. : )
why should it jmc.. you have pudding for brains right now
i penalize my students for any patient they do not move day 1
I haven't heard from cousins yet. In Utica, not Buffalo. Yes, I will emphasize that again.
nursing 101
so true but at least mine are only temporary
"penalize" used vaguely - I just give them a really hard time til they get it
Spanking machine
good for you kje
hello all - can add to bowel conversation - my 91yr old Mum had emergency surgery on Friday for ruptured duodena (sp?) ulcer - out of icu today and physio says will get her up tomorrow
<---holds back on rude comment
good afternoon my babble buddies:) on late cause the mrs had to hit the boxing day madness sales:(
hi ursh
Wow, ursh. I hope she continues to recover well.
ty for that ru
hi crossy
Hi Crossy. Any good bargains?
Hi Ursh and Crossy
howdy jmc
you are welcome
good wishes for your mom ursh
howdy hego
wow, hursh... sorry to hear, wishing her the best
bbl
usrh wishing your mum a speedy recovery
I have no family surgeries to report.
thankfully
okay i need to go talk to my construction guy about lights bbl
(sorry, was on the phone) when we started getting pts. up less than 8 hours after heart surgery; we all thought that that was awful. However, the pts. did better being up and got out of ICU and the hospital faster. Someone that age is at greatest risk of urine infections and lung problems. Deep breathe, cough, move and remove foley ASAP
glad to hear it hego
Good, Hego. Any minor injuries? Papercuts?
*poof*
Bye JMC and KJE
I got nothing
so far so good - she is a tough lady and will do what ever her surgeon and physio instruct with vigour
Hi Nef
Nef, I told my cousins all of that. One cousin is passive, saying about the ICU staff, "They seem to be covering everything."
well, then, I hope the ICU staff is that aggressive!
Cousin just texted me--BP + HR are sl elevated but he looks good.
I have hit a wall with 110 to go.
My Dtr. is up and jabbering away as per her normal behavior; whew!
Has she been ill?
I can see the left column r is going to bug me.
I have 5 of those, He. Anyone have the bottom or right O words?
no, I'd posted earlier that I was worried about her because she slept through Christmas (over 40 hours, just woke to eat and potty)
Viral illness?
no Scrabs
nope; nothing like that. Depression a possible
Bottom O = preposition on4. Duh!
thank God she woke for those!
A recurring or new problem, Nef?
ty scrabs...got me nbt AND halfway :)
Oh of course, Scrabs
right o words are what you do when you swear on the bible in court
yay! I got an r
ugh...inlaws have arrived...bbl...wish me luck
Left R = re4 (rules and re4, short for longer word). to stitch again, to form again, as with clay
new, Scrabs. Hx of depression in past though (hospitalized at ages 13 and 20)
good luck Harry
one who re-forms the clay
I'm sorry to hear Nef
Good luck, Harry.
Aw, Nef. I started at age 11 so I understand completely.
ty Scrabs
thanks scrabs!
I miss oa4 recurrently in grids.
Nef- sorry to hear this. Mine started at 14. It has been a lifelong struggle
re + pale

Nef, Mag-mom, read about the role of L-methylfolate and MTHFR DNA mutations in depression. Read about Deplin.
I'll check it out- thanks
http://www.cnsspectrums.com/aspx/artic ledetail.aspx?articleid=1267
I'd posted a bunch about her earlier; everyone was helpful
thanks, Scrabs.
I learned about all of this MTHFR stuff in October.
I am feeling a deficiency of chocolate. Anybody want some DARK chocolate Reese's mini-cups?
is that the vitamin B absorption mutations?
I'll read your link now
Me, me, me!
i have the less severe one of those and i take methylated vitamin B now but i don't think it affected my depression much.
but i figure still good to get all your vitamins.
Reese's dark chocolate mini-cups for all!
if it's NOT the vitamin B mutations scrabs was talking about then oh well just ignore me :)
LOVE Reese's. Thanks!
Must have lunch. BBL
I got tested for the mutation, Hursh, and am homozygous thus make very little of the enzyme. I started L-methylfolate 8 wks ago and is has helped keep me even.
I scanned that article and will definitely read it in depth later. Thanks, Scrabs!
I think we are talking about the same thing, Hursh.
oh good
http://www.cnsspectrums.com/aspx/artic ledetail.aspx?articleid=1267
the only things that have made a NOTICEABLE difference for me are: exercise, antidepressant, and counseling. not surprising i guess. :)
My Dtr has huge mood swings and PMS; I need to do more research on that too.
Good, Hurshy.
tomorrow's my big day - if you don't see me after that, something has gone horribly awry with a routine tonsillectomy. :)
I'm a firm believer in exercise helping with depression.
Hurshy, I'll send healing thoughts and prayers your way this week.
thanks :)
I was going to ask, Hursh. Good luck. Everything will be fine.
Prayers for a quick and easy procedure and recovery hursh!
Exercise produces endorphins.<---good opiate!
endorphins make people happy. happy people don't kill their husbands.
This means I should be getting back to the Y. :-)
Is he pissing you off?
no it's a quote from legally blonde :)
tada!! finito!!
Haha
YAY, lbd!!! WTG!!!

Prickly plant. A bush.

Haha. I like when your typos give clues.

i am sure you do:)
I just brought out a bag of Reese's dark chocolate mini-cups.

wh7 is weird. w + a form of execution, to ha4 by a noose + double vowel. wh8 = pl
that is an odd word ty scrabbs
Hurshy clued it earlier.
David Carrdaine know wh7 intimately
funny definition, Ru!
he was wh7 for his wanger
Sad. It happens to adolescent boys too. A friend from residency, his 13 yr old son died that way.
I love popping int with irreverant comments
And we love it when you do, Ru.
it is tragic scarbs
We are accustomed to that, ruru. In fact we look forward to it.
I need a break. 77 to go. BBS.
i mean ppeople in the chat often say they want to strangle their kids.. but they don't really mean it
sigh, cat saw an enemy in the christmas tree and just pounced into the middle of ity..sigh now he have decorations all over and a large orange tabby decorated in silver tinsel..maybe i should just give up on the tree and put a string of lights on the cat...
I don't think you ever take on the full impact of the meaning of words until it hits home in some horrible way.
well then you'd have Feline Navidad crossy
lol
so true Molly
it's a catastrotree.
maybe the cat needs a tinselectomy
LOL!!!!
ill sove a string of lights up it butt and light it up like the tree used to be
shove

Dinner visitor to Crossy's house: OH.. you have a kitty!.. Corssy.. no.. the cat is purely ornamental
hehe
wonder if it will stay still while i get the can of artificial snow out...
no don't crossy! That would be cruel and unusual purrsecution!
i can paint a star on the cats forehead

I try so hard to stay away from morewords, but sometimes....!
yes, sometimes.
coming out of lurk mode to ask for a clue for the U...? Is everyone having a festive holiday season?
good holida but don't have the u. sorry
I don't mind using help now and then. I am not an Orthodox Babbler.
thanks anyway, hego. :)
The U is the duct, transport, whatever for pee.
I'm reformed myself. lol
hi balletslippers. ur 6 and 7 medical term, tube between kidney and bladder (and pl)
ty ladies
hmm thanks molly and nef
Good ole Nurse Nef gives the proper definition. : )
nice to spend some time on babble after the insanity of Christmas. My niece is four and so this was her first "crazy christmas" where she acted absolutely ludicrous. Haha!
got the u! :)
my dtr asked me tohelp her at her place; now I'm to wait an hour so she can shower and change clothes (good idea since she slept in them the last 2 1/2 days)
what can I say, Molly? I can't seem to get away from that
erete
Once a nurse....
whoops!
Nef, I think the phrase "just say no" may have been invented with you in mind.
okay, not a word
Molly, I'm practicing; but I'm also worrying about my dtr. I just retired from working in Sept. and my old ED wants me to come back and work (a few days a week or month!) and I'm saying NO! NO! NO! to that!
Don't fall into that trap, Nef.
it's like the first drink of an alcoholic. lol
Dtr. slept through the whole holiday except to eat and potty; this is veryu worrysome behavior. So her asking for help is encouraging (she hasn't asked for any help before; althought I've offered several times)
It's a step forward, Nef.
Hi all. Nef, is she depressed?
Hi Geek
I think so; that's why I worry. (she's been depressed in the past and hospitalized twice already (at ages 13 and 21), she's 29 now; and this was strange behavior for her
SO now that she asked for some help; I'll help
I am also a depressed person and understand her behavior. I don't do well during the holidays. I have slept alot this past few days and don't like dealing with all the stress
Just observe her for awhile, Nef. Could be just exhausted.
that is true too hego
I can understand wanting to sleep throught the holidays.
I've wanted to do that myself, actually.
I will watch and see. I did mention that she should go in for a complete physical and workup; but she snarled at me...
well, I sent the DH to his parents for four days and I am alone and it is quiet.....I need that sometimes
maybe her thrroid and D levels are off
thyroid
we all need that sometimes, sg!
Young people don't want to hear that they might have a health problem.
well, I feel guilty about it. I did this last year as well. I just wanted the peace and quiet.
sounds good to me Geek.
well, am hoping I get over the guilt and can get some things done
I find I do better with some alone time my self. I just don't get much anymore now that DH is retired...
Nef, I hear that! DH took off the same days as me (I teach), so he has had me doing things like cleaning closets and the attic, etc..............
I dread the day, Nef.
I love him, but...
it is also so gloomy here. Rain every day and no sunshine.
I love mine, too! But, help
Awwww...
I think I have SADD. Need a ray of sunshine
Poor Geek. The sun will come out.
yes. I relish the days he goes off to his mens' clubs functions; and he doesn't understand why I don't want to go with him for ALL of them! (I do belong to 2 groups with him and do those...
I think I shall work until I die so that I can get out of the house once he retires! LOL
I have a few years yet.
we have sunshine and 40 degrees F here right now; not a drop of snow... :-(
Well, wishing for sun. I may go to a movie tonight with a girlfriend
A comedy!
NO - the new Sherlock Holmes film
Oh, okay, that's good.
I am missing one J word.....
are they all ja's????
oh I have one jo
a jo
Last year the neighbors across the street had their nativity scene out and the snow was over the statues heads, even the lights didn't help melt the snow. THIS year, the statues looknaked without any snow! (2 years ago it was very cold; we put extra blankets on the Baby Jesus as a joke)
lol.....just rain here.....we had a freak snow last year.
poor baby

It's nice when they come, and it's nice when they go.
God designed it that way or we never let them leave
All over the yahoo news is this awful fire in CT that makes it hard to complain about anything
Who me, Nef? LOL! Nah, its great to have them around. I love it.
I don't blame the woman if she needs to be permanently sedated or can't go on with life

Going to the xoo.

Bye, Nef, you'll do fine!
Hi Dorens!!
Thanks! BBL!
hi hego. just sat down to see what i could do in ten minutes looking like a slightly tough one
Dorens will be taking the pledge. lol
what is the pledge?
not to drink
Dorens, I can confirm that there are 110 words in this grid. I am unconvinced that there are any more...
I take ambien on a regular basis but it works for me. I had too many years of insomnia- I feel like I deserve to be chemically dependent.
If God didn't want us to be medicated, he wouldn't have created laboratories.
You earned it Kap
All those nights of lying awake wondering what ever happened to my fifth grade math homework
no hego, i will not take that pledge. i drink wine and i love it. i don't drink it daily, but do enjoy it when i do. i hadn't even had anything to drink the night i took that pill, so isn't even a combined effect. and yes, kap, nothing wrong with it, particularly if it works for you!!
well sood, i have found 76 in ten minutes. the others may never come
You know about the dyslexic insomniac agnostic who lay awake nights wondering if there is a dog?
I love my wine too, Dorens.
:)
Oldie but goodie.
: )
lol, kap
definitely kap
< ------ I think I may BE that dyslexic insomniac agnostic.....
I'm glad I'm not in recovery so I can have that occasional glass.

My mom sasys that age is nothing by a number on a piece of paper.

my gran daughter ( 22) came for christmas.. and we had a great conversation on college life... she was surprised when i told her that things have not changed much since i was there.
every generation thinks they invented the wheel.
I am now getting all the chain emails and the like from my niece that I sent out in college and nothing has changed
funny
she was flabberghasted when i told her that sex was great in the 50's
and i have total recall
I at least had the courtesy to delete the lines that said if you didn't send this, something horrible would happen
Amazing how they all think they are the first ones to actually enjoy sex. LOL
yup...
Well, TV was showing people sleeping in separate beds...
help with at 5/14 pls
I have 3 siblings, and for a long time, I was convinced that my parents had sex a grand total of 4 times!

Oh wow, Magazinemom.... she must have almost died when she was told the news!

A group of youn mothers here have started an amazing charity service here. They collect all baby related products - cots/prams/clothing etc. Clean them all up, repair where needed, even gift wrap them, and through various agencies give them to new mothers who are unable to afford them. Was just local but they are now getting requests from all over Australia. The larger organisations, like the Salvos, are unable to make it so personal. Such a wonderful thing to do

Great-looking bunch, Jac!
Someone in Maryland won the Powerball jackpot on Christmas Eve.

Hard trick since JMC lives in DC. I live in Maryland, but I will just overlook your wish.
Friends of ours won a million on a $10 holiday scratchoff a little over a week ago, I'm so happy for them! (though taxes took over half already, sigh...)
Starting with the lady in the orange paper hat on the left and moving clockwise - my Mum, my stepdaughter, my daughter, my son, me, Beloved's mum, Beloved's dad, Beloved and, on the table next to him, the stone head that looks like him. (Set there are 'head of the table'. LOL!)
I live next door to Maryland, do i get a cut? ;)

I don't think i do currently Molly :)
rbud - Lotto and scratchcard winnings here in the UK are tax-free.
That is where the winning ticket was purchased.
wow, tax-free would be nice. Hubby loves the Bingo scratchoffs, I bought him several for stocking-stuffers, hope it'll pay off, lol
How do they make any money off the lottery if it's tax free?
Lovely photo, Jacula
enough ticket sales could easily offset jackpot
Our friend who won here was scratching her ticket at the gas station, saw what it said, turned around and handed it to a policeman in line behind her and asked if he saw the same thing. Pretty exciting!
Hi dcs. Thank you (re the photo).
guess she thought it was safe to hand it to him -I personally wouldn't have let it out of my clutches, lol!
The proceeds of our UK lotteries go to charitable causes. I guess the profits come from having more players than winners.
We won £5 over 2 tickets on a section of the national lottery, but we spent £6 to get it.
well, at least it minimized your losses :)
dcs - LOL. Yes.
rbud - I can well imagine that you wouldn't quite believe wh4/9 you we4/8 seeing if you saw a huge win.
I won 1500 dollars once, and I made my son look at the numbers to verify too. : )

I've had enough of people around my dinner table talking about operations, bodily functions etc. What IS it about family meals that makes people suddenly think of talking of such things? LOL
It's the age of the people at the table. I am not fond of such talk at family gatherings myself.

magazinemom - Hi! Not seen you here for ages. No, it's not just you.

Doing great! Rediscovered the love of my life and the kids aren't doing drugs or in jail. LOL.
My girlie in law is a nurse, yes.

My mum managed to revolt us at dinner, embarrass my daughter post dinner AND get my stepdaughter into BIG TROUBLE with her grandparents almost as soon as she (my Mum) arrived today (or more likely her father will get the ear-bashings on the 'phone later)
But that's got nothing to do with my mother's age; she's always been that way.
yes, I know -- thought maybe they were manufactured words
Some people thrive on negative attention getting behavior. Sad.
My Mother was that way too, it just got worse as she got older.
Molly - my Mum is kind at heart but doesn't think before she puts her tongue in gear. In fact, I don't think her tongue has a gearbox.
My Mom was kind at heart too, but some people have no edit function when it comes to what they say.
Oh well. As 'they' say, you can choose your friends but not your family.
Also, it's a mother's perk to embarrass her children just like they once embarrassed her. However, getting them into real trouble or putting them down/trying to make a fool of them is NOT on.
boy is that the truth
At my age, I think I can tell the difference now.
The sad thing is, some people choose friends who are just like their family.
Molly - I guess they go for what's familiar. My friends are a wide mix.
Real life friends, that is.
Oh! Christmas is such 'fun', isn't it? LOL

re + African antelope, but change the last letter.
I can think of Impala.....I had one years ago. Other than that, my brain is taking a break.
It has 3 letters
It rhymes with not old.
Oh, have it now. Thanks so much, wht.
yw. And good night all.
Sweet dreams, wht.
evening, all
Hey there, jes. How you?
pretty good, peach, how're you?
are even.
I feel much better tonight.
good :)
Fireworks, finally. Thanks for all of the help. Jes, are you just starting? Need any clues?
wahoo peach!!
yay peach!
I have just 3 left
i just started; have found 66
Wow, you're doing really well, then.
and that is fireworks!
i am usually pretty fast at first
yay miz!
Congrats, MizHoffle!!!!!!
then i'll hit a wall and have to grind the rest out
Thanks!
I know how that goes.
I am off to eat some Christmas sweets and read. Night all!
g'night, miz
hi again. YAY, MizHoffle!!! WTG!!!
Sweet dreams, Miz.
Hi there, Nef. How are you?
hi nef
Hi jes and peach. I'm doing okay; spent the day trying to help my dtr with her unpacking (she's just moved into the Aunty's empty condo.
AND I forgot to hit "enter" after writing that! :-) a week without Babble and I'm brain dead already!
Moving is quite a job, isn't it? I'm sure she's glad for your help.
Later, y'all.
g'night, peach
think i just ran out of easy
I have 85 left and I don't think they can be real words (since I don't see even one more word in this grid
i've got 79 left, so there are at least a few more you can find :)
oh, okay; I'll keep looking then! ;-)
ok...just monkeyed a yo4 which is definitely not a real word.
"the letter used in the writing of Middle English to represent a palatal fricative, as in ung (Modern English young ) or a velar fricative, as in litliche "
oh my. That must be the first yo 4; right? My monkeys found that this afternoon
(I didn't look it up)
yea
pl it then
yeah, i'm listing now... :)
those wh's are icky too
I just listed myself. I've reached a point in my life where I try pluralizing any words that end close to an S
heheh
sad; isn't it?
ghar. scottish words shouldn't count. :P
I feel the same about it when there's a spanish or French word in the grid too
guess it's of limited use to gripe about enable, yah? heh
we all know I'll be back in a day or so anyway, no matter how frustrating the dictionary is...
LOL! Very true, jes. I was pretty much offline this past week because I thought my DH had infected my mac with a virus when he messed up his computer and the laptop. Turns out that we had a very slow network causing my problems
being offline was very strange
glad you didn't have to haul them all off for viral purge!
oi! those ur's are so obvious in retrospect
aren't they? I had the dangest time with them; then felt like a dolt for missing them!
d'oh. missed the ta5 dance
go 6/24?
go + santa **** winds in CA
i'll clue it when i find it, yad :)
go + **** Karenina
Ra ra Kournikova!

thanks, mags!
welcome!
magazinemom, I just read your profile and am impressed that you hold so many "jobs"! ;-) And I'm from NW Minnesota, near that "other" Red River Valley! :-)
ro6 please?
ro 6 sounds like the root veggie that makes you cry
It mostly just equals your regular 40 hour a week job. LOL. I also help my honey with his metal art business.
thanks, nef
Thanks! didn't have that one
I know; but being a Mom makes a person a jack of all trades and then we wonder why we are so tired, right?
Amen to that! I've been a single mom for 4 years. Whew!
wouldn't that be a jackie of all trades?
I always had DH to help with the kids; he always had his Aunts next door (when our kids were little we had a dble bungalow with them in the other half; we moved once the kids got to be too noisy as pre-teens)
you are correct, ruru
hi ru

It's easier now that they are 13 and almost 12. My parents live just around the corner and they are a big help, plus my ex is nearby and he is an involved dad.
