I quit that way- no cold turkey nightmare for me. Just taper, with knowing that my goal was to delay and reduce nic fits.
it does seem to help.. and when my hands get nervous for not having a cig in it i just hold onto a pen instead
If I got really bad cravings, I would take one drag and get rid of it. But that takes really being sure of what you want.
Otherwise, boom- there goes a back. It was just to stop the obsession.
