good morning, afternoon, evening all. My dad passed away this evening, and being with Babble friends is just what I need in the wee hours.
dee is so giving
okay flosey. and STILL trying to play with a running commentary from himself in the background * groan *
oh.. sorry melon.. are you okay
deepest condolences, melon :( That's hard.
oh, melon, so sorry. was it expected?
oh melon, so sorry
oh mel, so terribly sorry...
sympathies melon
Melon, may you remember the good memories.
melon, when my dad died...kept expecting him to pop in from another room, where he was hiding. i empathise with your loss. doesn't matter how old you or your dad is, it's still hard to accept that he isn't there any longer.
My dad died at 66, much too young, and I missed him so but often talked to him and oddly I could just imagine how he would respond
Alzheimers. dx about 3 years ago. Went from assisted living to a dementia home, Kemper House, this past summer. His decline was swift and peaceful. He never went through a combative stage, and never didn't know his immediate family. my son who is 20 made sure we were at dad's side every day this past week. He's an inspiring kid. Thanks for everyone's sentiments.
that's a tough one melon.. I'm sorry
{{HUGGLES}} Melon
flosey, exactly. that's what got me through the first few years. even so, at night, i still dream of him, and wake in tears. so, melon, my heart breaks for you.
As ends go in our culture, that sounds like about as good as it gets. Glad y'all were able to be there for him.
Here's what I wrote about him:
Joseph M. Savino could rightly claim the mantle of self-made man. The third child of Antonio and Carmela (Turtora) Savino, and the first to be born in the United States, he grew up in the Chicago suburb of Blue Island in a neighborhood populated by families from his parents' home town of Ripacandida in Italy's Basilicata province, and did not speak English until he entered the first grade. From these beginnings, he graduated high school with honors and went to work as a draftsman. Over some resistance from his widowed mother, he became the first in his family to attend college as a scholarship student at Purdue University, where he majored in mechanical engineering, obtaining his PhD. Upon completing his doctorate in 1955, he went to work at what is now NASA Glenn, starting in the field of fluid mechanics. Highlights of his thirty-five years at NASA as engineer and post-retirement years as a consultant included participation in the wind energy and technology transfer programs. He had a reputation for being a clear and readable technical writer. He was fond of telling people he got paid to have fun. Joe defined for himself two life-changing events: discovering work he loved, and meeting the woman he married. Joseph and Marilyn (née Sadock) were the parents of six, whom they brought up in Berea, OH, choosing a college town as a desirable place to raise children. Together they enjoyed travel, bicycling, theater, and dancing. Joe was especially proud of his role in making Berea bike-friendly and developing a bike safety program for children. Joe had a special love of classical music, and while not a musician himself, he made sure his children had the opportunity to play. He frequently attended performances at the B-W Conservatory over the years. Joseph Savino was born November 6, 1928 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. His last months were spent at Kemper House in Olmsted Falls where he was cared for in the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. He died on January 23, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn, daughter Rachel, granddaughter, Katy Dobbs, brother Hank, and sister Mary. He is survived by his children, daughters Juliana Sadock Savino, Teresa Savino (Roy), Mary Dobbs (Michael), sons Christopher, Michael (Beth), brothers Danny and Anthony (Annamaria) and eleven grandchildren, Jenni Frcho, Fred Cumberworth, Rosalie and Molly Carlson, Jeff and Charlie Dobbs, James and Avery Tishue, Constance and Maya Savino, and Sam Savino. On a more personal note: my dad's highest compliment to me was "you would have been a really good engineer"—he really could not understand how, given the choice, anyone would want to be anything else—and yet it was his reverence for music that undoubtedly influenced me to take that up. When we were coming up he had a small but well chosen record collection, and I remember how he would balance an LP gingerly on his splayed fingertips and warn us neither to touch the needle nor "jump the record" by running around too much. Two records made me cry so much as a kid that he only played them at night, Vivaldi's Seasons and the Eröica Sym. The Eröica scared the hell out of me and I think I was well into my twenties before I listened to it in a live performance or voluntarily at all. It still does. Oh, and he was—still is even in his slack-jawed throes—wicked handsome. He and my mom were a gorgeous couple.
indeed, huggs melon
What a wonderful tribute. He was a mensch I would have enjoyed having as a friend. You were indeed fortunate to have such a father.
Sounds like he was fun to be around :)
Hello all
I've come to a standstill with 37 to go
hi, lyn and anike.
Hi all
How absolutely beautiful mel... what an phenomenal man (and family)! Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully written Melon. He sounded like a terrific person when you had previously spoken of him - but so many achievements! not many people could claim so much.
hi anike lyn
Thank you all for reading. I almost didn't realize what a great guy my dad was until I had to sum it up for people who had never met him.
fireworks hang on and I'll post in profile

sounds cathartic melon
absolutely wonderful tribute, mel. you must be so proud of him.

I keep seeing Enron in the grid, which, of course, is not a word.
oh, fun wedding experience... have you ever had make up applied with a sprayer (almost like a paint sprayer)? It was really interesting.
I also had my first chocolate martini made with chocolate vodka, frangelica and almond liquer by De Kuyper... glass was edged with Hershey's chocolate syrup and grated semi sweet choc. oh my goodness...
joan rivers uses spackle dee
glad the wedding went well Dee - my son was bestman at a wedding which we attended and they had a remote button camera set up with a box of dress up clothes at hand - i enjoyed watching people take fun photos of themselves
LOL, hence the spray... it didn't look like spackle at all lol

it was, but it was also 25 years ago. Time dulls the memories except when it doesn't. As i tell people, the hurt never goes away, but becomes less frequent. :)
absolutely true dc
d'OH! nbt. good thing I found that last E before anyone gave stats. The fish slap would have hurt my dewy complexion...

I'm probably not going to be much help, unfortunately. Do you know stats?
it's a te7
te7 - comparatively small (from top right)?
ah, it's the last te7
now it's fireworks!!!!
Well done!
thanx haz, and how are you, hun?
I'm well, thanks. I'm keeping busy with various things.
my cruise of new zealand leaves in 11 sleeps, but i'm not counting. lol
That should be fabulous. I've never been on a cruise but I like the idea of them. How long will you be away?
going to meet up with groovykiwi, and himself's cousin.starting to get excited. duh!!!!
That'll be fun, it's always nice to meet up with people.
haz, 14 days, 13 nights. if you want to see our ship, log into princess cruises. select dawn princess. there is a bridge cam which shows you where the ship is in real time.
Looking now. Not that I'm nosy or jealous or anything.
our last cruise was to vanatua and new caledonia. it was so much fun.
Anybody I've talked to has always highly rated cruising.
okay, they are stilla t sea. wonder if they will let me stand at the bow and wave....wouldn't it be fantastic? you could all see me. lol
I like the idea of being able to visit lots of places without having to pack and unpack.
yup, that's a definite plus, haz
Over here there are lots of coach tours throughout Europe but the thought of having a different bed every night just doesn't appeal even though it's a great way of seeing lots of countries in a short space of time.
mind you...i'm glad i wasn't on that cruise ship in the mediterranean
It's been a terrible tragedy but so avoidable if the captain had only been sensible.
i'm with you, haz...but it seems to be the only way to see large bits of europe.
When I first heard the news 'a cruise ship has run aground off Italy' I just pictured a boat too far in - couldn't believe it when I saw it lying on its side.
almost ' titanic '. sort of...anyway. one doesn't think such a thing could happen in this day and age
It shouldn't have happened at all if the captain hadn't been so reckless. At least the death toll isn't as horrendous as it might have been but it's no thanks to him.
nearly 8pm here, and himself is circling like a shark...think he wants to be fed
I'd feed him, granny, you'll get no peace otherwise.
will say good-night, haz. have a great day/eve. whichever is appropriate. catch you at the flip
Enjoy your meal, granny. See you again!
good morning
Good morning, ruby.
hello haz
I wonder if that captain is still in jail. He certainly should be.
The last I heard he was under house arrest.
from what I've read, there weren't enough lifeboats, trained cew to man them or even lifeboat drills
Certainly the lifeboat drills have been questioned - I haven't heard that there weren't enough lifeboats but the problem was in launching them because the boat was at such a difficult angle.
and waiters were "driving" them
Yes, but don't forget that on a ship that size, the number of people qualified to actually sail a boat would be tiny. There's a huge difference between a cruise ship that size and actually physically doing anything with a boat.
many years ago, I took the France transat and there were as many crew as passengers and, they had trained crew members for each lifeboat
but that was '67 and there weren't alll these enormous ships and so many passengers
I know - 4000 people aboard is amazing.
I've lived in towns smaller than that!
There's not going to be much left of the ship by the time they finish. They were starting to use explosives to clear the way to try and recover more bodies.
but what about the fuel? I haven't seen any updates on how they're going to get all that fuel off
think about those waters.....
I don't know what they're going to do about that. It's probably a case of trying to get the bodies found without doing damage to the tanks.
and can you imagine the amount of baggage and such that will be washing up on shore for years?
And the insurance claims..
the whole thing is a nightmare and that wasn't exactly a pristine coast before all this
we use generali, so I imagine even our rates will go up
It's been costly in terms of human life and material goods and all because of one man's stupidity.
it's really too frightful to imagine. Fortunately, it's well-documented
I'm always surprised that people have the presence of mind to take photos/videos etc.
yes
can anyone please help me with the 3 a's on the 4th column
ar5 rocky spine i a mountain

lower middle e, pls, haz
nm, got it!
You're too fast for me!
have u got any clues for the e's on the 3rd column 4th row
fast ruby
hahah
er4/4 - makes a mistake
er4/4 - er and the abbreviation for a saint
The other two from there are longer. er plus the name of a German river (er7) and its plural er8.
The river sharts like the name of an African horned animal if that helps.
*starts

by Wv
Good morning everyone
my goal is to get at least half before I go to lickity
depends, nassy, I haven't finished in weeks - too busy at work
during vacations I finish a lot more often
but I don't usually finish......not very good!
good afternoon Nassy and welcome to babble. I rarely finish. I just try to get as many as I can during the morning and then life gets in my way :-)
awww it could get addictive
it is very addictive.
I'll second that!
The company here is exceptional. After all these years I come more for the friendships.
me too, mom!
that's nice!

Nassy how long have you been playing?
Just on and off my bf mostly plays so we have a competition
does he chat?

that's strange that it does that.
I'm glad you have the laptop so you can chat again

a na 6/18 goat or someone who watches over children

"The Help"...what a Cinderella story. It gets rejected by over 60 publishers at first. Finally, one accepts it, it becomes a best seller, wins a Golden Globe and gets nominated for 4 Oscars for the screen adaption. Hooray for Kathryn Stockett!!

hi hurshy! hope you are better!
I got a new router in Nov. A Medialink, and upgraded from WEP security.
Colds are annoying.
i quit smoking ten years ago and have had "lingering phlem" ever since:((
gettin' there sue thanks
ah well i'm glad i've never smoked

Lingering Phlegm sounds like a punk rock band

"The value of marriage is not that adults produce children, but that children produce adults." -- Peter De Vries
: )

nice, crossy :-)
Nuts. I need to read that book!
Had to reboot. Hello new people.
my children made me senile so I suppose thats what he m,eant
hi again, scrabs!
hiya, scrabs!
sometimes I wish my child would make me senile...
everytime they said: ahhh daaaad!
a few years ago(i think my son was around 12) said to me "dad, you better be nice to me,because when you get old,i get to decide which home you go in!" i looked at him and said"son, you better behave, because your mother and i brought you into this world, and we can take you out and make another one that will look just like you.."
Someday, Sue
that was your wishful thinking crossy
And what was his reaction, Cross?
what that i could avoid the home? or that i would help create another one that looks just like him?
the latter lol
well scrabbs,he thought about it for a minute and said "if i get a brother or sister, will i have to share my video games?" lol
Of course
lol, vanillia,if i wanted to,we could of popped them out like pumpkin seeds, the mrs loves kids

the planet has enough without us augmenting it
I take care of a family with 8 kids.
I have that re8.
tr8 is plural of those who can learn
besides that, the duggers are busy filling the planet with problem children,i do not wish to add to it
someone elses family scrabs?
thx for the 8! now nbs!
Yes, I am a pediatrician, so I am witness to much.
only re8 in the grid, scrabs
i suppse she will only stop when they start dying at birth
or in utero
I wrote the 8s down wrong then.
not even that has stopped them, crossy :-(
so glad to say our five were never and still are not problem people
that is good:)

er8, ne8, re8, te8 and tr8
OK, so I need ne8 and tr8.

and a person that ne+ portal through a fence i guess
ignore me that doesn't make sense

I was looking up directions and parking for medical mtg in Buffalo tomorrow night. I hate city driving and parking, especially at night.
ugh city driving...
I am the only partner from our group that can go so I am the representative. Uuuggghh.
if buffalo is anything like toronto,i do not blame your loating of city driving
lol,i am sure your partners found things to do in a hurry:))
One way streets all over. And then to be a woman parking + walking in the dark.

Another partner went to the mtg 6 mo ago. 2 have kids, another is on call.

The only part I am looking forward to is dinner. I may have to leave early too.

ge 5/14, rub a lamp and he might just appear
UK
Good evening Babblers, wha sup?
Hi Focal
Hi Scrab
Where in UK, Alex?
ra4 and ra5 = Indian princes
N.Wales
Very cool, Alex. Do you speak Welsh? Someday I want to visit and tour the UK.
Come to Ireland too Scrab!
ornate
funny you ask, I'm about to take welsh lessons !
Or not, I mean. (ooo er....)
so no, not very well, but I speak enough to understand what others are saying
I just am in love with all of the UK--the history, the countryside, the ancient homes and buildings...you have really old stuff there that we lack in the US.
I already have that word, Focal.
Sorreeeeee!
I know that Welsh is often lacking in vowels. Laptop is going to die soon, so let me say goodbye. I need to clean the house for a while then I shall return.
Where abouts in Ireland Focal?
Slán Scrab, in the Capital of Dublin Flask1
in welsh , one letter is Ll (two L's)
Where is that flag from Flask?
in welsh , one letter is Ll (two L's)
Scotland !
Scotland!
Focal, I have become fonder of Ireland since reading Tara French's books--all 3 are set in Dublin. I am waiting for her 4th.
I would love to meet all of you over there.
Haven't come across Tara French =- are they contemporary or historical, mystery or romance?
We will meet you Scrab, just let us know when you are coming over and we'll put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea!
Police mystery. First one = In the Woods, 2nd = The Likeness, 3rd = I forget.
I will look out for her! Thanks
I want to return to Ireland [and the Cotswolds]
When UK Babblers post photos I just long to be there. I like to hike and bike so it is not the urban areas that attract me.
Hi bichon. Laptop battery will die soon.
Atalante's sister lives in the Cotswolds.
Come on Bichon, we'll have a Babblathon!
I know the feeling Scrabs TTFN
ok well , if thats the case, come to north wales, don't bother with the south of the UK / Wales .
North of England is nice too
I'll hop on the next Aer Lingus
hi, everyone. Scrabs: the third French is Faithful Place--maybe the best.
the further from London, the nicer people are
:)))
That's it. I was thinking ____Street.
I love how she writes--so descriptive!
Bye kids. BBL.
Yes, Scrabs--that's because it was the area/street/project the family lived in
Good to see you, mirandapan. OK, time to get the vacuum cleaner out and go to work.
Scrabbler, I'm in Rochester and I can't find Tara French either in the Monroe County library system or ABE books. Any suggestions?
Thanks
hi everyone again
It's Tana French
Thanks Molly.
biblio.com has some good prices on her books/used.
Found it at my own library. Wonderful what havoc getting one letter wrong can wreak.
er7?
going for a walkabout..i mis lizsark and wish to visit the place of my birth once again and do a drop in on liz at sark isle bbl
biblio.com rocks!..poink!

can you give a breakdown clue?
something that crows in the morn...change a vowel
ty suz
did you get it?
hi everybody. How many words are there today? I've got 224 (with Lickety and my scrabble dictionary's help) but don't see any fireworks. Am i missing some?
bbl.....have a webinar for work to do.
224 words is it
bama, 224 is the number -- maybe when you typed one you mistyped and it didn't count?
it's telling me 224 words and 3105 points in the little box but I was hoping for some kind of "hey you're finished" something! Maybe cause my trial period ended and this is the second time I've ever finished one. Too much time on my hands today! LOL
re 7/36, please? does it build on the preceding 5?
yes trial period is only 2 weeks - you need to become pro to see the fireworks display and the tile stats
evening all
its cheap enough and well worth it bama
also, what does nbt and nbs mean?
re7 - re + what you burn logs in
no blank tile and no blank stats
bama, that must be it, then. you will not regrent ponying up the cash to join 8-)
meaning you have at least one word for each tile
what are blank tiles and stats? this may sound stupid but don't we all see 25 un-blank tiles?
oops, i mean regret
mm - I burn them in a fireplace!
when you have a tile that says 0 (as in, 0/1) then that tile is "blank"
oh -- the thing in the fireplace -- ty
what is the thing in the fireplace which holds them off the ground?
you see blank because you are not pro yet - we however see letters and numbers in them
Nan- perhaps this is one of those things between US english and UK english - try gr5 - what happens when soembody gets on your nerves
right now my second tile shows "N 0/6" meaning there are six words that start from that N and so far I have found 0 of them
oh, ok. yep all i see are the values of the tiles. Thanks for clarifying!
(but then i'm working on the G right now)
oh now that would be helpful!! mine just says "1"
hmmmmm, i joined so long ago i forgot what things looked like to "newbies" 8-)
(that 1 on the N is the point value . . .)
haha! I started a year or so ago then forgot about it cause we moved. A friend mentioned it a couple days ago so I'm back (and it's bookmarked this time!)
still need 6 Gs, grrrrrr
*!* ta da *!*
woo hoo Nan
wtg nan !!!!! ~~~~~ !!!!!
hi all! yay nan! just got nbt and nbs, but still far from halfway
bama: click on rankings, contol F, type volleymomdee in the drop down box -- she has a list posted in her proile
uh oh - no lickety today/
yes, lickety is up, but I didn't think bama could get it
oh phew
any clues wanted before I leave?
yes, please, all of them, except the ones i alrady have LOL
er7?
nm - found it

yw, crossy :-)
crossy is having a great ole time at biblio.com.i need to replace many of my beloved softcovers that have read to tatters so i am shopping here for them in hardcover;)
that would be fun ! I did the same with The Thornbirds....it was literally falling apart and I found the hard cover at a hospital book blitz !
do not get me wrong,i love my ebook reader, but a house is not a home without at least 100 or so hardcovers nestled on the book shelf
it it not great when that happens diane? you get so excited..look! the book i need in hardcover!
I"ve still got many that I can't part with.... have the original printing of The Stand....
as do i
ty for the clue diane!
and i have a first ed of clive barkers weaveworld
I was going to purchase a book for my Kobo, but it is on Amazon for almost half the price .... go figure !
hi my friend Ivesy !! You're welcome !
i have a very old copy of gone with the wind, found it in the delete pile at the library.. hardcover. i love it
culling library discards can yeild treasues
That is where I got most of the books for my grandkids when they were little.... buy a bag fo $5.00 and fill it up !!!
damn typos
found roots, books by dh lawrence.. it felt like xmas
the last ones I got were FREE
those are the best diane lol
we got ourselves a new library a year or 2 ago,all the treasures went fast
many first editions find their way to library shelves
our library just moved into a new building...awesome place, BUT the didn't put in the ereader lending feature... I guess it's coming though.
your library is our town hub, were wused to have it in a horrible 60,s era office building.then a proposal went up.do we go to the next town for our books OR the gov will chip in a million and we would have to come up with 4 mill ourselves..we had enough within a year lol
one little thing I have against the Kobo, is ... if I want to go back and read something that I may have missed that pertains to the plot, it's hard to find. I'm just finishing the Girl Who Played With Fire, and you really have to pay attention to everything... it gets "tangled" for sure !!
DO NOT TAKE OUR LIBRARY AWAY! lol
i have a nook,it can page search, word seach of pharse seach to pinpoint a part of the book
There WAS no library here when we moved here in 1973, but I'd been a member of Book of the Month Club and Double day for years... so they got a lot of business for a while !
I don't think a Kobo does that :-(
we used to have one of the original carnigie libraries, but our burned in the teens
but it is great now,4 stories,we put the achives in the top floor and it has one of those new green roofs you hear about
and now I have to say bye for now... some errands to run and we're going to have a peek into Zellers.... some awesome sales. They are preparing to close and Target store will take over sometime in late spring.
tc diane
bye everyone.... be back later :-))
ours will also go target next year
welcome to the northern states of america i suppose;/

Evening all, it's late here in dear old Dublin and I am not going to make it to half way, so can someone please help me with an E word from the 4th row, and an 8-letter so that I can have NBT NBS and go to BED !!!
e + double consonant + crybabies w**** and wail

Also pl will give you an 8

YES!!! Thanks Molly, now I have NBT NBS so it's time for NWB (nice warm bed).
I'll take an NWB over NBT and NBS any day. Good night Focal.
Merry Tuesday to all, and to all a Good Night! Slán :)

i thought those book clubs liked to sing their teeth into some good fiction
sink
Ooops! half a message and a word! pb - here I come! Must be cooler therethsan here, anyway.
we do it all. try to avoid the obvious "Oprah" books but do fiction, mystery, biography, classics, etc.
does anyone have the ar6?
ar 6/24 ar + ladies + ****lemen
AR6 is the silvery color of my hubbies haur
think silever, cos

hi all
hi
ty gramma'
howdy jilli
The last ga 7/36 is driving me nuts! Clues, please?
thanks for the ar6
While you all think about that ... I'll get a glass of wine.
hi crossy
i often go back decades, sifting though the sieve that is my mind and with the help of goodreads.com,find books that way
only new one waiting for me is 11/22/63 and it is on my ereader
ar6...ar + short for not a lady
goodreads is fun. makes me feel self important because of how many i have read. aren't i special, lol!
more importantly,it guides you based on your book preferences
Cos, I am having a hard time with Charles Widmore as a King on "Once". I laugh every time he calls the Prince "boy".
well yeah, that too. :-P
and you are very special to us G.E:)
you know.. richard schiff will be on "Once" as snow white's father.. itll be weird seeing Toby Ziegler from West Wing as the King too
jilli - how are you doing... have been wondering how you are getting along now
en6 please?
make mad, cos
thanks kje
yw
OK times up! What did you guys come up with for me?
?
hi gram what do you need?
that must be a big glass of wine gramma
are we playing a game?
hello everyone too
oh, I see
Hi kje -- I'm waiting for Feb 2 when I see the surgeon and get x-rays. My 6 weeks of "no weight-bearing" was up last Saturday so I've been doing a little walking with the frame, very gingerly, and it doesn't seem to be doing any harm. Just one snag -- the wound on one side of the leg is taking a very long time to heal and is still quite open -- getting attention from home nurses twice a week.
5:36, I asked for a clue. Help please.
i have a semi-precious stone often ground up for emery boards ga 7/36
ga7 - car fuel + 3/4 of a cedar or elm + vowel
thanks kje
Hi West
ty
so exciting you are walking! did they get you PT as you start to walk? they can do A LOT to help with your range of motion, balance, and restrengthening as yu walk again
hi molly
ty kje -- and crossy, that stone is my late mother's birthstone and I have some nice jewellery.
I had to ask for PT after my ankle fracture as the surgeon said I'd be fine without, but I loved them, and have the great results to show they helped
ty kje
6 left and I have to run to the neighbors. Go ahead and finish this for me. Oh wait! you can't. In that case, I'll be back later.
that is my birthstone too
bye gramma
my mother finally came home today..still not home officially though nurse inspector will be there tomorrow to see how she did overnight..
that gramma moves fast...
kje -- I'm not walking much but have been doing pt exercises all along in preparation. Still in the wheelchair most of the time. Foot still swells a lot in the evening -- I have it propped up when I'm on the computer, like now!
Good news West. Hope all goes well with the nurse inspector.
gramma drank all her wine and needs a refill from the neigbours?
smart gramma
: ) Jilli has all the inside scoop
hi west -- good about your mother
so do we molly it would have been easier busting her out of Alcatraz
hi jilli good news from you too
Sounds like quite the Fascist system West. : )
get a strong Jobs hose, jilli - helps a lot with swelling as you start to get that ankle down more
that should be Jobst
it's a case of the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing..aka red tape
I read that "nose job."
I do have a Jobs hose -- don't know if it's a strong one. But pressure on the sore is painful.
so sorry - jilli - it will get better!
I read that as something you use to water the garden
yes, Jobst, duh to me.
a year from now you'll be running a marathon ; )
what a picture
I just need it to be better by March 6 and Australia!
still planning to go jilli? good for you!
I heard about that - so exciting! I am jealous!
A year from now I will NOT be running a marathon, guaranteed!
OK, but that was likely true even if you hadn't broken the ankle - lol
Yep!
kje -- that icon of yours is fabulous.
thanks jilli
agree kje thought it was a brooch
love that purple dragon too jilli
many thought it was a x-mas ball... understandable that DNA would not be the first thing to pop to mind ; )
does anyone have the last ge5/16?
and your royal purple is most fitting, west
ge _ cheerleading cheer
*** *** *** shishcumbah (or something like that)
that should be ge + cheer
thanks kje
sisboombah
ther ya go - what jilli said
ty kje
yw
eventually I should find supper
I think I will go nuke a sweet potato
unlesh you've downed a few exshtra beersh
Shishcumbah sounds like an Arab potentate.
oh wait, I have fresh shrimp that must be used
I will go make shrimp with snow peas
Mmmm
that's what I meant, molly - a potentate
thanks jilli was just looking at my write up ..hate when the " turn into silly signs
<---Has never forgotten about fresh shrimp (insert drooling smilie)
bbiab
I have a Mystery Meal from Meals on Wheels coming up, but not for a couple of hours yet.
Phant -- gentian
Hope it's something good Jilli
keeping with the purple theme
how has the food been so far jilli?
they usually are pretty good, molly, and are certainly appreciated anyway.
have you been able to do a little cooking yourself?
They even attempted a Chinese meal for the New Year yesterday -- but not very successfully
is it wrong to use 3 pounds of shredded cheese in a lasagne? i say no!! more cheese now!
are the meals microwave ready?
west, I haven't tried cooking -- it does require standing up and that's hard to do on one leg for any length of time. Warming things in the microwave doesn't rank as cooking imho, lol!
wow crossy lol
hiw's your weight doing, crossy?
right jilli..and since mine is mounted above the stove I'd have a hard time with that
I would say three pounds of cheese in a pan of lasagne is excessive, and I am a cheese lover.
oh but nothing better than leftover lasagna
still 40 pound over but colesterol is 96!! bring it on!
i always use at least 4 lbs
it is a large pan..will feed 10
you're making extra crossy?
west, the meals come in aluminum trays, unfortunately. They are really ample, so the home support helper divides them onto two plates. My microwave is also usually on a raised shelf but my wonderful neighbours took it down and put it on the counter so I can reach it.
now I want some
common over,it JUST came out of da oven there is the lasagne and the shepards pie to choose from
Haven't had lasagne in years...
wish i was there to cook for you jilli
I'll have some lasagne please..although I do like that pie too
thanks, crossy!
Good Lord Cos, for just you and Ryan?
the pie has caralamized onions, peas, shredded carrots home made gravy and secret spices
and 4 pounds of lean burger
Oh yum!
mmm I'll have that for dessert
rofl west!
lol
we are having the pie tonight, will be searve with greek salad with feta and a itallian crusty loaf with butter
*proud of self for finding on6 & 7
yaa for jilli!
hi
gj jilli
ill take a clue please
hello herin
howdy herin, grab a plate..shepards pie is cooling now
it's asinine, crossy
<---Never remembers that that is what those words mean
Thanks but no it is way too hot and early.
Howdy back.
hi herin

It is errr 20 expected to climb to 30
nice touch with the carrots crossy
ty west
thanks!
Hi back too
hi cos
hi jill!
yw cos and jilli..though I don't know how one would manage that
just finished the R's.
20 --> 30 is nice
it is 28 here
silly enable
Cos I am talking C not F
i figured lol
after our snow we had fog then rain and it was nice and warm today so almost all the snow is gone
Pity us here in the west -yesterday, today and through until at least next Tuesday - all 39, 40+ (that's up over century for you farenheit folk) peaking at 42 which is 108F
so am I
oh wow
throws ice water on dofith
Hi Dof. I was reading about that. I hope we don't get that
oo, dofith -- not nice!
trif's daughter is in Perth now after leaving Boston in the middle of a snow storm
wonder how she's doing
gasping, I bet, west!
Ooh, yes please, west - ice sounds nice! I think it will be a record-breaking heatwave which is saying something for this place. We're meant to have the best climate in the world (Mediterranean) - well, they can keep it - I HATE it!!And so dry. Poor garden will just crisp up.
lol dofith,i read metric and that is nasty wherever you are
Poor girl! She'll want to get home, snowstorm or not!
Doth Move to melbourn?
Melbourne sorry my bad. Not awake yet
i want to visit there someday, since it is using my name, the least i can do is go see the place
Herin, I've just heard I have cousins in Melbourne
crossy they would give you the key to the city and make you king
Herin, I'd do it tomorrow!Especially as I am a "gardener". But my hubby is a Melbourne boy - came here for Uni and LOVED it (and me, of course!) - hates Melb weather. All my men (hubby and 4 sons) love the sun
well, either that or 50% off on room rates at least!
Aww
cousins are on Through Rd in Camberwell -- do you know the area, herin?
At leastwe havesome air con in this room, now - second summer with it - has changed my life. I think New Zealand would be the perfect placetolive - Nth island
O dear. It seems it is time for rude voice on the phone. Just had my 3rd blocked phone call.
herin, you and grannyrose and lyn are all in Melbourne? Any other babblers?
croou share the name??ssy, hopw come y
Yes and not sure
Cos..."Once"...love the mysterious stranger who road into town on a motorcycle, packing a typewriter. Brilliant.
i bet he's the author!
Road? Rode.
What a mess! Computer must be melting! That said - Crossy, how come you share the name??
He has to be, and he is going to finish the story. Or at least write the next chapter.
what is this Once you speak of?
yes that maybe....
west- Once Upon a Time
"Once Upon A Time"...a great show on ABC
oh it sounds really good
maybe I can catch up on Netflix
oh its great!
not on netflix yet.. maybe hulu though
It's all up on Hulu for free.
Jill I used to live in that area
is that still aroung?
*around
i have it all saved up on my dvr.. im gonna record it all to a dvd so i dont have to buy the box set when it comes out :)
Hulu is stupid and not available in Aus. That said they complain about piracy yet shows are not shared outside of the USA on legit sights
Is what still around?
hulu
great idea cos
dof that is crossy's last name
he must be in his livery serving dinner
Yeah, Hulu is still around. Why wouldn't it be?
I thought I heard they were doing away with it
glad I thought wrong
I though crossy's last name was Smith
Not sure why Hulu is exclusive to the US. I know that certain sites are exclusive to certain countries. I had trouble accessing Australian tv sites when I was following something once.
help with my last h please I have 5 ha and 2 hi..what am I missing please
Because the USA would rather have a mental over illegal downloads than actually having a legal option
you got that right herin
The fbi just shut down a website suspected of piracy. even though it has legitimate uses.
another ha west
I'll skip this conversation. Later folks.
ha4 x 4 ha5x2
another ha west -- 2 are pls
thanks cos
and jilli
Molly you don't have to leave
Dof you been watching the cricket?
it was the rabbit
the last se6 please?
sorry dofith,my last name is melboure..we have had that name longer than you lasses and lads down there
sounds like the place that has 2 people from each state
fishy rabbit, west, lol!
melbourne*
thanks i thought i tried that!
cos not the house but the se****
all set for tonight cos?
i have the tv on mnsbc right now so yes :)
think we'll watch ABC but start out on CSpan
we can trace the melbourne clan right back to a fraction before the year 1000( my brother ordered the family tree(cost 1000 dollars lol!)
abc is good.. cpsan is best if you dont want the commentary
I wonder how he'll do..
wow crossy that is amazing
hes a good speaker. he'll get a small bounce..
who's the he you're wondering about, west?
Well still like to know what I said to be offensive. That said no wonder I don't bother talking here anymore considering that was a non political / offensive comment about piracy
President Obama. in the state of the union address tonight.
Oh -- must watch that!
its on in a hour and 15 mins.
herin I can't speak for molly but I don't think it was anything you said
thanks, cos.
neither do i, herin.
nor i herin
i think the copyright laws must change and the way we sell/ship and transmit media
Considering this one site that got shut down by the FBI is a file sharing website with legit uses like sharing a personal folio with others.
we are on a brave new frontier with the computer and we must change/adapt
To me I have to quote someone in the paper as saying
much of what is available in the states (hulu) is blocked to us
'it is like banning mobile phones because terrorist use them.
indeed herin
my granddaughters wouldn't be able to talk
we would lose, hulu(we already lost that) wikpedia, you tube and many others
my son is besotted with his iPhone
the idea of sitting next to a device that is tethered to the wall would drive them crazy
crossy loves his asus transformer tablet:))
and he's no teenager
I think it's a man thing jilli ..husband and son are the same way
The other thing as well is when Australia is on Parity with the USA we still get screwed in video games and online content so I can honestly see why people do what they do even though it isn't right.
I've been told to wait for iPad3
we get screwed as well herin
we in Canada get screwed with cell phone rates.
snap
we may get one for my mother
if your not of the planet U.S.A you get reamed
but we're nice for the most part crossy
you are indeed just not your internet service providers
well, it's our own phone companies which are doing the screwing
it is indeed jilli
Ipad 3 can they please have flash and usb
asus cause it has flash, usb, micro usb,and mouse support
it really is too bad there isn't just a univeral isp
and 16 hour!!!! battery life!!
I believe that's the intent, herin -- certainly LED flash
hmmm -- sounds good, crossy
agreed, west
that really does sound good crossy
just google "asus transformer tablet"
my dinner has arrived..pizza and salad see you all later
we have one and it rocks
tc westford
I'm going to do that crossy
*poof*
the new transformer "prime" is coming but it is $$$$
ttfn west!
Enjoy West

fireworks
Oooooo I can play with it soon
YAY crossy!!!

the last te7 is similae to the te7/8 before it
http://ca.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad _Transformer_TF101/
Think the other half wants a toshiba because he is a clutz
and it DOES get 16 hours of run time when docked
And i can see real value in an ereader for him because his books cost so much with his roll playing and then they just change them any way
we can get google books now herin
the U.s has allowed us goggle books
it is more our archaic laws than theirs
Cross b.fs RPG books always change.
i really want hairnet to work
He just spent $200 on a book
crossy, how much was that Asus?
well I have run out of things to say and words to find have a great day
wd herin -- good luck with the temperature
time for Happy Hour and TV news -- back later
Aircon is off it is too cold. Have a greato night
