floods are effecting us again in NSW... just amazing how awful it is for so many people. prayers be with them
hope you are all safe mr p
sydney has flood warnings, but we are very high up... over 500m above sea-level so we are safe, but so many suburbs are not. Is sad
I remember YEARS ago! that the most affluentual suburbs of sydney were flooded, cost a fortune for the damage... and still, the foreshores of sydney are being flooded and government and people do nothing to move them to safety. I think that is appalling to let that happen.
and remembering, most of the people living in these suburbs are very elderly.
Clues are up
so close/....hi mrp
and have you heard of the Antarctica crack in the ice-shelf?? 800 square km mass iceberg... which will drift north and melt... oh dear
hi dart :)
and hi ruuster!
Thanks, mrp.
hi peach and yw
ty mrp and hope that the flood subsides. trouble with cities is the acres of concrete.

(((((((SOODLE))))))
Soodle, please check your email. Thanks
Sweet dreams, flosey.
Night all.
can i have clues for the 8s and the 9 please
the 9 is cu, building off the cu4. A word that owes its entire existence to pictures of bunnies and kittens on the internet.
and I just fouind the fo8: similar sounding word. A word that owes its existence to the inability of men and women to actually talk to each other.
you may as well go for the t8 now
Ha!! Got it instantly!!!!!
TA muchly!!
race you to find the other now
ur on....
Ive only got t's and s's left, so its one of them...
found..weird...te8...let me work out a clue

*Plans a lovely cake for TO's birthday*
hello everybody
((ruby))
{{westford}}
I should go to bed..been up baking disasters all night
pls send a "failed cake" over here
I think it will taste okay but we'll have to scoop it up with a spoon
sounds good to me!
my husband will say it's delicious and eat it all
are you freezing?
yes, definitely freezing and husband is totally laid up, so I'm doing all his chores....
saw on the news that everything is cold..except here..was 60 yesterday
you be careful
don't want to end up like him
when I go outside (rarely), I walk like I'm 95 yrs old!
I feel like I am
I am trying to be strong!
now put me on a beach in the sun and I'd skip
that's how my mother was. When I lived in Miami, she would get off the plane in a wheelchair but would swim every day and by the end of two weeks was like a spring chicken (whtever that means lol)
can Jacques and Lucia help..or whatever their names are?
I'd love to follow the sun
yes, the housekeeper is wonderful and the handyman, when he comes (rarely) is very helpful, as well
host
hostess
was I close on the names?
ooh, so sorry
and the female too
you got them both lol
David and Luisa, but close enough for jazz
the rule is no words in chat unless I don't already have them
you are kind and I'm a little bit "boulversee"
you are the bees knees
ty
I see Hercule Pierot
do you think bees really have knees --- I've always wondered
I'm sure they do..their little legs bend
hello ruby
hello WV teach. How are you?
we have really pretty bees here, front end is black, back end is orange
hello teach
and they love the lavender
hello all - what on earth do they rub into violin strings - trying to get te8
hi ursh..I didn't know that was the def
hello ursh. they rub in resin, but can't imagine what the word is (or any other 8's or 9's for that matter)
I monkeyed it
I could try to clue it if you like
please do west - i am bamboozled
pls, west!
te 8/40 te what ruby said minus first letter and not coffee but *** minus last letter
confusing enough for ya ?
you're kidding, right?
I told you I'm sleep deprived
that means two ee and there are not two e together
how about - t + eo5 + not coffee ending
a beverage that you brew
I knew someone could do it thanks lady
didn't mean to steal it from you west
ty lady and west finally got it
not at all I need help
got it, ty
what a strange word!
glad i could help - usually can't!
yes
the 9 works off several words starting with 'darling' or isn't she cu**?
that 'yes' was for strange word not usually can't
thnx wesdt - got the 9 - now can go off for the day feeling good
great teach..it is the silliest word
we had two local men working construction in WVa that are in critical condition..carbon monoxide poisoning from the hotel they were staying in..just caught the end of the story on the news so don't know where
actually one is in intensive care
bad story, west
can you come back from that kind of poisoning?
some do but there's usually some damage
... depends on the amount of brain damage ...
hello dose
I think it was an isolated incident so not all the people in the hotel were affected
hi dos
I know teach is setting up a music festival and all I could think of was I hope the people coming in for that weren't harmed
... the carbon monoxide doesn't let go of the blood molecules the way carbon dioxide does ... so oxygen can't connect in the lungs ... thus oxygen doesn't get to the brain ... ... break the chemical bounds by given them lots and lots of oxygen and everything is fine ... ... unless it has taken too long
... morning
that's good to hear dos I do hope they got to them in time
half, yay
that happens with copd too, not enough oxygen
but no 9 or upper e
good job ruby !!
hello ivesy
ruby - upper e is the eo 5 in the 9
... eo5/6 ... eo + a trig ratio
hi ivesy
no that's the 8
good morning all.getting my babble fix b4 work
ty, regular babblet, I shuld have remembered
oh yeah the 8 :)
... I didn't either until the te8 was clued
the 9 is that cloyingly annoying word to describe kitties
and it's the most annoying
I guess I've never seen anything that cu**
i've never hear anyone use that word
I didn't think it was a word..
oh, yuck, found it
see?
(I would have to commit murder....)
the 7 is almost as bad
... yes ... find the 9 and then go and brush your teeth and remember the mouthwash
double yuck!
*Joins the gagging crowd about cu9*
... but al least the fo 7/8 was played under the table
ty does, didn't think of that; it's been too long...
{{molly}} I saw somebody in FB in my son's circle of "friends" in Austin with your last name and the first name Arnette. Relative?
... sorry ... male perspective ... found it first before the 9
maybe the subliminal message in the grid forced me to bake
I used to love baking, but husband doesn't eat sweets or homemade bread.... :(
I wouldn't know Ruby, my husband's side of the family are gypsy-like. Spread all over everywhere. There are a lot of people with that last name down south.
send it over here..I have yeast and that's the only progress I have made
I love homemade bread; it's why I had granite counters installed
Ruby, you should make mini loaves for yourself. You can freeze them.
that's a good idea
we have granite counters..how do they figure in ?
I don't like the local bread although it's highly to**ed
good idea molly
Good kneading surface West. I use a bread maker so I don't think of things like that.
they're the best for kneading and rolling out pastries
but the best cooking trick of all, is buying Westofrd frozen white bread, letting it thaw, the rolling it out and braiding it, letting it rise, adding olive oil and sea salt and claiming it's homemade for company
now that I could do
Oh, now I want to do that. Hmm, makes mental note to add frozen bread dough to the grocery list.
and you can claim all the credit; they'll never know
is the olive oil and salt added before or after baking?
before
and yu just smoosh the oil on with your finger so that the sea salt adheres
you can braid it or make a spiral
you said roll it out..then divide it into threes?
once it thaws, you make a long strip, then cut it and braid
I meant roll it out by hand
like clay
I can't do the salt though, I'm a low sodium girl these days.
I see now
it is so simple and delish
<---Loves the word SMOOSH
olive oil and a little oregano or thyme maybe
I was thinking onion and garlic powder
but does enable accept it???
that would work
Good morning All!
I think it does ruby
hi car
hello car. how are you?
ou 7/40 plz
we are, as usual, talking about food
morning car, everyone! chatting with secondo in another window, so only half babbling between messages
do you have the 4/7 before it ivesy?
yes i do
hi trif..is she having the best time?
[[TRIF}}
then plural it
Please give her my love!
another word for boo-boos
this grid is a bit too cu**!
ty found that one.
you said it ruby
she seems to be. the classes are a lot easier than the ones she is used to at home, which is abit of a surprise, and kids at the school are OBSESSED with glee (aren't we all!) and keep asking her if she knows this film star, or that tv star, or how many movie sets she has been on. I am guessing they aren't --quite-- up to speed on where massachusetts is, exactly
<---So NOT obsessed with Glee
it isn't on Fr TV
oh, I love me some glee, molly!
I was lucky to find The Big C
she said yesterday the math teacher asked them what 33 divided by 11 was, and some girl yelled, 10!
ou7/40= opposite of in+rebounded sound
yelled it after a prolonged silence, mind you. how sad is that?
ty movieman
<-- Would consider watching anything with Lea Michele in it a version of hell
yw
ty movieman
that is sad trif..not what I would have thought
Hmm, not too bright those kids, eh?
me either! and get this - she is at a school for the gifted.
that is depressing about the "ten"
A school for the gifted? And the kids can't divide 33 by 11? Oh dear Lord.
<---- not having much luck with any of the clues today :(
maybe that's the "new math"
car, secondo says what's up!
Hey girl!
like "wasup"?
I am more worried than ever now that she is gonna be way behind when she gets home, but I am gonna let that go. she can make up work.
time for newspaper in front of the fire
yay!
that probably is the superior spelling, yes ruby
Just relax. Let her enjoy.
see yu later
Let her be the smartest one in the class for a while!
Bye Ruby! {{hugs}}
bye ruby don't do too much
yu -- aaarghhh!
how long will she be there trif?
about four monts
months
Stats please for the upper left E?
what a great opportunity for her
ef4/7
Oh for Gods sake, that is the right, never mind
car - eo5 and eo6
Ty anyway, Dear!
ooh, I love those! so cute
And good morning/afternoon all.
oh shoot! PB FOR ME!
good morning haz
TY Haz! Good morning!
Hi Haz, I missed your chat about Downton Abbey yesterday. I am loving the series.
You're welcome, car. And good morning.
And stats please for the second Z word? I have the nothing word.
Hello, Molly. Yes, it seems to be going down a storm across with you.
Animal parks car
nothing car
I promise not to give anything away about the storylines.
Oh good grief! Right in front of me. DUH!!! TY
Oh, are you all ahead of us? We are at Season Two episode 4, I think.
<---- is easily confused when there are repeating letters.....
I goofed..didn't see you already had the nothing word
Yes, the series aired before Christmas here and there was a stand alone Christmas special as well.
RI is behind MA
That is OK West! I welcome any and all!
OK....crazy day ahead! I am going to go. I wish you all a GREAT day and {{hugs}} to any and all who may need one today!
be back soon
Bye West!
Bye car and westford.
bye car! tertiare isgoingto the funeral with me today, so I will drop her off after, please, okay?
Funeral?!?!?!?
And what time is that?
Oh, I would love to see Downton Abbey decorated for Christmas.
It looked even more splendid than usual, and that's saying something.
11 this morning, bernadettes dad. it's so sad how the funerals for parents are ramping up. I guess it's just life isn't it? we all got married at around the same time, had kids around the same time, and now everyone seems to be losing their parents
Ahhhh trif.....
Oh no! I didn't even know. Please send them my love.
A good bit of the charm of that show for me is noticing all the detail of the decor. And I just swoon over the costuming.
I really need to start watching it.
you SO TOTALLY DO! I love Downton Abbey more than I can even say
OK...so what time?
I know, the costumes are great. You'll always find people over here who can spot things amiss like tv aerials and things or too many buttons on a waistcoat but overall it just sucks you in.
ballpark?
though I must say, I preferred season one, which wasn't quite as sensational and soap opera like
ummmm..... 12:30 ish?
OK. I will make sure we are here.
shazam! 3 o's all together
good morning / afternoon everyone
Well done Mom!
OK! I really have to go now. Bye!
((Car.)) bye
Yes, season two came in for a lot of criticism because the stories became less believable - it had the air of having been written quickly in order to cash in on the huge success of series one.
Even with that, it's still escapist viewing.
I would like to see season 1, I hope the library will have it
Hello, Mom. I'm sure they will and you can indulge yourself.
Hi Haz. How are things going with you?
One of the reasons I'm glad I bought into Amazon Prime is that it has all of Season 1 on it for free. : )
I'm being kept very busy with duties to do with the local Festival. I'm the secretary for the Speech and Drama section and there's a lot of paperwork/admin involved.
That sounds like a lot of fun. It is probably good that you are doing this so that you stay busy. :-)
I had said that I would wait unti lafter the Festival to think about getting another dog, but husband is proving unexpectedly reluctant to get another one. He found Spangle's death much more traumatic than I had even realised.
maybe holding off a bit longer will help him
I'll not force the issue, but springtime this year would have been ideal.
And I've landed myself in PB...
I would think that it would be. Our oldest got their golden at the end of November a year ago. They said they would not get another puppy in the winter again
hmmm let's see what Haz said ...
got it
What I wasn't going to force.
Good, you found it easily.
thank you, I love free clues
how has your daughter adjusted to married life?
I also had a nice e-mail from FM's cousin. It was good to hear from her. I still find it hard to believe that FM's gone.
I'm glad she wrote. She posted a lovely item on Facebook.
I had computer issues and lost my email addresses. If no one has sent it to you I would like to.
That was good of her. It helped to make a connection and I was glad that the family appreciated the good wishes.
If you don't mind, I'd like that. Do you want me to drop you a line so that you can get my address again?
To know that a loved one was cared about and admired has to help.
yes, please
*by so many across the world
I'll do that now.
thank you
Phone...
got the email. I'll send it right now.
Many thanks.
good morning, help with corner t pls
Hello, peri. Which corner t?
left pls
te6/18
ty will look
Another biggish grid. Yeah and hello Babble world
Hello, bichon.
found it, thanks Haz
hazmataz!
Hello, everyone!
vi!
My goodness, VIcuna and hurshy! Hello to both of you.
how lovely, now if ata and mab would turn up!
We're getting the band back together! =)
i haven't seen you in so long, how have you been, vi?
You'd probably have to prise Ata off her sea-urchins and barnacles to get her here.
i know! all she ever posts about on facebook is sea-stuff.
I've been fine, hursh, just in perpetual lurk mode. How about you?
oh basically fine here too. got my tonsils out.
It's 106 miles to chicago, we gotta full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses
have you totally recovered hurshy
Most people try to prise barnacles off their stuff, but then Ata swims along and they have to prise her off the barnacles!
yes i've recovered
Hello, Molly. =)
is that a song or a quote or something molly?
I'm back. Hello to everyone who appeared while I was away.
Haz, an email is coming your way
It's a line from The Blues Brothers and my immediate response to "we're getting the band back together".
Thanks, Mom, much appreciated.
you are so welcome :-)
I was thinking the other day about how shocking it is that I haven't seen so many films. Blues Brothers is one among many.
what is it with S words?!
To tell the truth, I'm not sure I've ever actually seen it all the way through, either. But I'm pretty sure I've seen most of it at one time or another.
Well, you can put it on your "movie bucket list" Haz. : )
They come between R words and T words. ;P
my husband likes it but i've not really seen it either
I am not a movie watcher, but our homemakers group went and saw One for the Money on Sunday
My older two sons are versions of Jake and Elwood. I've seen that movie dozens of times.
just realized I have not found any words for the top e in the second column -- help please? just a count will do
My problem is that I hate seeing them in the cinema. They turn the volume up so loud that I'm deafened.
there's an eo5/10
eo5 and eo6 for that e.
I always wear earplugs int he cinema.
Haz, I agree. Movies at the theater are WAY too loud.
thank you haz and vicuna
Thank goodness I'm not the only one!
there we go. all grey now. nbt
good for you Trif
Especially the action films. I was practically deaf after we saw a Die Hard movie at the theater.
the previews here were much louder than the actual movie
Husband and I once went to see 'Clear and present danger' in the cinema. Thanks to the noise and the tricky storyline, we had to watch it a couple of times at home before we could figure it all out.
I wish I could stay and play but .... it is Thursday so that means grocery day! I love going to the grocery
Maybe if there are really this many of us in agreement we should all start leaving complains with the theater managers. Probably loads of people dislike the noise so loud, but we've all been fooled into thinking we're the only ones.
*complaints
okay, I really should get going now. blessings to all....
Enjoy the grocery, Mom! =)
I think you're right, Vicuna.
good morning everyone:) the mrs and i no longer watch movies in the theatre because after 15 minutes of waiting, half an hour of previews and 2 hours of movie,we almost need the jaws of life and a surgeon to get out of those seats:(
Bye, Trifioso.
thanks Vic, I will
Goodbye, Trif.
(((Hugs))) to all of you
Bye, Mom, hello crossy.
bye bye Haz.
Hello, crossy.

1 boy, 1 girl. But good. =) Fourth grade now, and getting more interesting with every year. I see your niece and nephew are growing up beautifully, too.
And husband is home - best make some lunch. Bye!
Goodbye, Haz. Good to see you!
oh gosh, how silly of me. FOURTH grade!

it seems like only yesterday you were first sending them off to school!
not seeing that cu9,more help pls
oh,forgot, did the furry rat see his shadow?
haven't heard the news yet, crossy
Oh, I didn't even think about Groundhog Day! *looks out window* No shadows here.
not here in ny but did in pa..
i've never really understood why SEEING his shadow (a sunny day) would mean more winter.
peri, it is the MOST adorable cu9
the longest cu word I have is cu6
think of babies and puppies
No kidding, hurshy. Other people's children always grow up fast! =D
and then keep going
indeed
Peri, think of things that are not just adorable, but downright saccharine. And the most of that.
I am trying but just can't get the ending right
phantom: insist
slice + least difficult minus an indirect object
by the way vi, :P what i meant of course was WHY are S words SO HARD to FIND
Yeah yeah, I know. I was just being a smarty-pants.
i know. hence the :P
Oh, hurshy, feline news for you: our cat died in the spring and we adopted another in the summer.
oh i am so sorry. how is the new one?
The new one drives me batty by lying all day between computer and keyboard... and stre-e-etching... and pushing keyboard, mouse, and any papers overboard.
:) sounds nice to me
name that proper noun! poirot portrayer
But the nice thing is she really considers the kids her family, too. Nightshade never considered them anything but rather tiresome interlopers best ignored.
Suchet
ding ding ding!
maybe it helps to have the kids first and then the cat.
Absolutely.
I would dearly love to know how Phil saw his shadow when it's been cloudy all morning.
i've been watching a lot of murder she wrote lately. i do not know why i love that show so much.
Maybe it was the shadow from all the television crew spotlights!
just checked the news, wiarton willie failed to see his shadow,so a early spring is coming
hmm, conflicting reports from canada and the US
you and phil can have 6 more weeks of winter if you wish
Considering that around here we've barely had any winter yet anyway, I'm not that fussed over when spring comes.
h'mm.. so some places will have an early spring and others won't
punxatawny phil saw his shadow. (I can't spell)
the Carolina Willows are budding here
I have a daffodil blooming.
gone to carolina in my mind...
goes to change icon to picture taken yesterday.
sing it out, hurshy!
I've never really understood the whole groundhog thing. Technically, there are 6 more weeks of Winter (Spring being about 46 days away)
we also have had hardly any winter to speak of,i think it only went below minus 20 once and the snow levels are way,way down
thats the idea molly, the furry rats win no matter what
snow? Haven't seen any this winter.
well yes Winter but the groundhog is about winter like weather.
The celebration, which began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger or sacred bear is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog.[6] It also bears similarities to the Pagan festival of Imbolc, the seasonal turning point of the Celtic calendar, which is celebrated on February 1 and also involves weather prognostication
lovely daffy, mixi!
ty. I have a couple more with buds.
ty hurshy for the info (-:
Morning All
hi hego!
Hello, hego.
Hi Aloy. Ramping up for trip to Italy in May
Hi Vic
good to know we are all pagans at heart. Things changes, but things are still the same.
Well, I'd best get to work. Nice to chat with you all!
Feeling the excitement already.
ooh, so happy for you Hego
true Mixi
bye vi! cut some nice wood for me!
: )
bye, Vicuna.. hagd
Imbolc isn't really about weather prognostication, in the true Pagan sense.
hego, will you be near the sunken cruise liner?
finally got the cu9 right
ah well, what does wiki know
Feb2 is just about the mid point of winter and has been marked for a long time.
That's the sad thing about Wiki. It only knows what people put in it.
No Aloy. going to Umbria
Marked??
It is east of Tuscany
Molly, observed in some way.
ah.. gorgeous country..
the only land locked region of Italy
with its own awesome cuisine
roasted meats
over wood fires
nbt, nbs, over 1/2 way. will go list.
diving back into grid
yay! no a's today
loving this grid
not bad
clearly you haven't got to the C's yet
: )
morning, all!
am finishing the h's now
hi sue!
Hi Sue
i need two more h's
hi hego and aloy! and hurshy!
so, as i recovered from my tonsillectomy, gradually i began to have more desire for food. this grew to exceed the desire i had BEFORE the surgery and now i'm always thinking about food. it's very annoying.
ho7.44 is a funny one
clue?
<-- always thinks about food anyway
but I am glad you are recovering, hurshy!
me too
hi sue, aloy, hurshy
what kids did in camp with matches while someone was sleeping.. or to get out of town quickly
food? where?!
must g try out chocolate pie I made last night.
hi, bichon!
perle mesta
and hi crossy!
aha thanks!
not cold + not arm
howdy suze:)
ty Aloy
hi une what's perle mesta?
yay, you found it
ho***** with the mostest -- famous long ago
ah.
OR cupcakes LOL!
ohhh why must you mention cuppycakes?
:-D
so for 8's i have fo and to, what's the other one?
te
don't have it . . . sigh
40 to go -- taking a break -- later, all *poof*
well, it doesn't come from the lower left.
The te8 is a bizarre word
clue?
bye Une
what does come from the lower left t?
male parts
no.
Balls, bichon!!!!
te + what you put on a violin bow, minus the first letter + **a and crumpets
MM!! lol
got them balls now, ty
wow that IS a weirdo, thanks
upper left T
nice clue, molly!
ty molly
tyvm, Molly.. would never have seen that one!
ty Molly
The damn fly is back!!!!!
Some Central American tall grass, like any of us would know that (except those that read the encylopedia)
poor CHS
ah - I actually thought it sounded familiar, molly (Frank knows the technical names of a lot of plants and actually uses them, often to my confusion)
ty hursh
so, I suppose ou6.21 means to transgress more than anyone else? gheez
thanks for that one alo
ty Aloy
c's cracked.
yw, made me smile
really?
the c's are so hard
i just stare and stare
but i would like 3 more words before i list so i have to keep staring.
poor Hursh
aha there are two
no dictionary results for the ou6; it asked me if I meant utzon, but I didn't
and an S! ok list for me!
interesting, sue
yay
just found one of my favorite birds.. the ru6.33-sided towhee is in the grid
such pretty colors
How many do you have to have before you list. I always try for at least half way
yay hurshy!
i do 80-90% depending on how i'm feeling about the grid. today was 85
it's up to you Bichon
I try for 1/2 way, or when I get frustrated.
make your own rule
wow, I aim for 75%
I do, but I was just wondering what others do
2/3 for me although I haven't gotten that far in a long time
depends how much time I have
I just divide 4 into the words total and use that number
if i based it on how much time i have i would never get the list.
: )
BUT there is a possibility that sometime this year i MAY be able to get a job where i have more WORK to do!
that would be exciting.
yikes you were right about the c's
Lol I find it amusing I'm not the only one who works on that, personally I try for at least 80% of the words; today I hit 35 left before needing help :)
one must have a goal
I listed at 119 today.
wtg, Punster
but no matter what your goal, you get the list and then you find yourself going, "ack, how did i miss THAT?"
lol thanks Aloy
Amen to that hurshy! :D
right hursh
hurshy, you used to go listless.. I remember.. wish I could finish one without having to look up one single word.. think I did once, a small grid though
agreed.
right hurshy
found the f number after I listed!
yes that was when i didn't have a job at all.
well, there you have it.. time is of the essence
I think I've only completed 2 without a list and they were both small.
me too
lol, just found the smelly st 6.24
I don't think I've ever finished without the list, but the one earlier this week, 73, I got pretty close
I'm sure how long you remain list-less depends a lot on how much time you have to devote to the grid.
righto, Molly
I've only ever completed 4 grids without help, with the biggest at about 130 words - still proud about that :P
yes, Molly
i could still go listless now - occasionally do if it's a real friendly grid - but somehow i've lost the taste for sitting in front of a babble grid for lots of hours
On work days, I am seldom more than in and out, finding a few words here and there.
Does getting help from the chat log count as going list-less
yes
yes
I think that is a matter of opinion Bich. I think getting stats on words is just the same as consulting the list for stats.
yeah!
there is an extra level of no-list no-clues which i've done once or twice.
I count it as words found with help, so personally no
never. lol
I agree with Punster
Yes, I agree Punster. Good way to define it. "Words found with help".
so.. a "purist" Babbler would say.. close the chat log
i think that the concepts are different in some of our minds since once upon a time there was no list, but people still helped each other back then.
lol on occasion I'll actually turn the chatbox to friends just so I don't accidentally see hints that'll mess with my total lol
HEH in other words I agree with Aloy
I've resigned myself to needing help, but not tons of help
i remember, well, hurshy
just the ones you're really stuck on
needs feeling of accomplishment more than purist definition of no list.
I turn off the chat when people are cluing words I don't have.
most all of us do, mixi.. (-:
much better than tearing our hair out, lol
I close chat at first
this is supposed to be fun, right?
or at least enjoyable
exactly, hego.. FUN
Turns to put on another record. Ah. Scheherezade
yipee!
I never look at my rankings. I think I could get fireworks every day, and still not move up in the rankings
<<<<<<likes scheherazade
hubby just handed me chipped beef on biscuits, topped with over easy eggs.. how did I deserve that? Yumm
well I consider finding 80%+ words of a grid fun in my book, so it's entirely how you interpret the word :)
good morn all
I'm sure you deserve it Aloy
Hi Suz
hi all, clue for ou7/40 please?
will have to fix a special dinner tonight
he's no dummy
not in + sound coming back
ou7.40 is about the guy in the mountains that hollers the loudest to hear his **** bounce back
Punster, VERY long time no speaky!!!!
am disturbed that there seems to be a train going by and i'm not by a train track.
from the 0u 6 we thought it would fail ,,, and plural
oh oh, better not be a tornado around
Um, Hursh, it's said that tornadoes sound like trains.
that would be concerning, hursh
Aloy that was as clear as mud to me...sorry!
it's the nice thing about this game, you can put it down for a year... or more... and come back and pick it up no problem :) and hey Movieman, how goes the word hunt?
aww.. sorry, flask.. what is it called if your voice bounces back?
no... it's construction noise.
echo
Pretty good thanks, and how goes the movie watching?
opps!!
that would be it, suz, lol>>>>>>>>>>>PB
LOL
bye for now. bbl
pretty bad actually, the local council thought that halving the number of buses passing through my town would be a good idea so... feeling a little trapped now
bye, hego, hagd
Sorry Aloy, your clue was very good, I just didn't think it would be a whole word!!!...my apologies!!
refoot
LOL!!!
OMG did it again!
Bloody councils, as much good as a chocolate fireguard
np, glad you found it, Flask
Luckily I managed to see 51 films last year
someone send me a slap on the wrist
puts piece of choclit pie in penalty box for suz. Does it have too much rum?
I'd be surprised if I saw half that many, and I haven't seen any this year so far - kinda upset about missing the latest Underword film
recipe called for coffee liquor.
never too much rum! mix
Nice to know punster's still around
Do you still go to Cineworld Cambridge then?
Good morning, Babblers.
(snuck tofu into choclit pie)
try to, but having trouble dealing with 2+ hrs travel time just to *get* there
morningn Judi
hi Judi
I can understand that it must be a total bore
anything with choclit is mighty good! thanks, mix
g'day Judi
Sutton really needs a rail service
Tofu in chocolate pie? Sacrilegious!!
yvw suz
we're talking 7+ hrs to see a single film, yh, 'bore' is a good descriptive
and with plenty of rum, you'll never taste tofu
really pretty good.
1/3c rum.
Is there some reason one would put tofu in a chocolate pie?
lol just hit 85% :)
It's a pity punster, 'cos there's some REALLY good films being released this year
wtg, Punster.. go go go
shurrup :P
add protein? trying to get hubby something slightly healty.
*healthy
ok, off to the PB with you all for the to4.8 !
hrmmph! enjoy the pie
didn't have that one aloyisius. Ty. Off for another piece of chochit pie.
Like the new Ghost Rider film
Men in Black III
The Avengers movies
And the new Spider-Man film
lol, mixi.. I just found it and realized you and Molly were discussing it
know about all of them
looking forward to em too
And Prometheus and the next Batman film
yup and yup
man on a ledge could be good, and wondering about Chronicle
I'm gonna be very busy this year
And what about the Hobbit part 1?
the difference is you live 5 min walk from a train station... that puts you 4 min walk from the cinema; you have a bit of an edge on me ;)
Just reading back in chat. Tofu should be undetectible in choco pie. Although, I am of the opinion that tofu doesn't belong in anything except maybe miso soup.
so obvious didn't even think it worth mentioning
Judi joins the PB group
I know, bloody annoying isn't it?
to repeat: shurrup
*grin*
PB group?
Penalty Box
Ahem. It especially does not belong in this grid. *schleps off to PB*
OK, I know when I'm getting a tad on the aggravating side, LOL
Really? *GASP!*
Molly, me and Judy all used the same to4 word.
fess up, Judi.. you just wanted some of the pie!
By the way, punster, I haven't seen your name on Babble for a while, what've you been up to?
To fu or not to fu, that is the question.
Thank you Judi. The thoughts of tofu in chocolate pie bother me in a deep way.
lol
.. lol, Judi.. and that's FW for moi
just been busy elsewhere in my life, didn't have time to put 3-8 hours on a puzzly grid daily, but was looking through my favourites a few days ago and thought... why not :)
This damn game just won't go away, eh?
since you're *still* playing, I feel that that was more of a personaly moan than anything else :P
I blame Dr. G, I mean I could be doing something more rewarding
urg, fast typing will be the death of me
and off to do some mundane tasks.. have a great Groundhog's Day, everybody! poof
lol bite your tongue
bbl.....gotta run errands!
lol aiming for a Bill Murray type of day, Aloy?
working on babble while I put all my records into the computer. Lol
69% found so far
I like to listen to ITunes radio while I Babble
I like to tunes on Itunes
*listen to
lol that freaking e has been bugging me, finally I get it
I've created my own personal playlist
lol impressive spelling mistake, 'listen' into 'like' :D
Hip hip hooray! Every day is Groundhog's Day!
You know what I meant
hello, back
welcome back ruby
hi ruby
lol that's only a good thing Molly, when it's a different *grid* every Groundhog's Day lol
I don'\t think there are groundhogs in France; they've probably eaten them!
Good morning all
Good Morning Everybody. How are you all today? (I'm 3 letters away from NBT and searching for that 9 for NBS)
LOL ruby
Hi Nef
hello nef
hi mr bob nef
hi vanilla
and mr. bob
the 9 is the most cu4 or smarmy
and anybody I might have missed....
it's an icky word
and that right there is why I don't like to chat until I'm finished playing, cos I always see hints thhat I didn't want yet... *sigh*
hi Molly, ruby, vanilla, ruru , Mr. Bob and all! Thanks ruru
hello new-people-who-have-started-playing-in -the-last-few-minutes :P
I had to chat wit choo tho' punster, 'cos well, we haven't for over a year
pretty simple Pun, if you don't like them (yet) switch them off
lol that only works if I'm not *wanting* to chat
In fact, if I saw punster in the street, I probably wouldn't recognize him
you can't have it all ways
lol I'm aware of that Vanilla
Mick Jagger: Ya can't always get what ya want....
well, it's easy to ignore theclues; or (if you have a short attention span) just forget them
blink, and they're gone
yes right.. see my smarmy clue is already off the screen
unfortunately, as Movieman can attest, I have a pretty good memory, and once I see something I don't want to know, I'll remember it for the rest of time
we were all talking about how annoying that word was earlier
I am always grateful for clues in the chog
same here altho
uh oh, vanilla's cat is on the keyboard lol
hello
that's another way to clear the chog quickly.
no idea what happened there lol
hahah mixi
pet the cat for me. lol
that's plan B mix
wow, vanilla! I thought my chog went nuts!
shall I say sorry?
but it probably took care of the complaint
NO!!
I was trying to type with one hand with the other in the cookie tin
Vanilla is obviously trying to compensate for the chocolate pie.
hi judi; I missed the chocolate pie. Is there any left?
Plenty, ruby. Beware. It contains to4.
My cat is vying for my attention!!!!
yes, there's piece left.
I'll be right over; I'm sure it's warmer there
Ruby can have my piece of to4 pie
back to the kitchen for me! see you later, kids
is it really made with to4?
it's 60 out. Yes, it
s really made with to4.
can't get decent to4 here; it's always too processed and dry
Do "decent" and "to4" even belong in the same sentence??
<-- loves to**
<-- missed Japanese food
Exclamation at time of dubious invention: "Ooh, look! I made bean curd...jello?"
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alt on-brown/moo-less-chocolate-pie-recipe /index.html
The very idea of "bean curd" makes me urpy.
<---Not an Alton Brown fan
have the fo8 and to8, help with last 8 pls
te8
ty will look
t + n**n lights of Broadway + crime against God + **a and Crumpets
ty Molly, neverf would have found that one
It's one of the weirdest words I've seen in this game.
tall Mexican grass is te8
generally accepted to be the ancestor of corn
ah, THAT"s why I've heard of it!
Huh? Grass is the ancestor of corn?
yes, corn is a grass
Corn IS a type of grass molly
I believe that corn is part of the grass family, yes
As are barley, wheat, oats etc
This is the kind of stuff you only discover here. I always thought corn was a vegetable.
I can barley corntain myself.
in fact if you let your grass grow and look at it carefully you can see the relationship - look at the way the leaves grow, the seed head, and so on
Judi! Ru would be so proud!
hops into conversation about maize and grass
Ouch!! What a bad time to join y'all - is this pun hell?
... next time you pull the crab grass out of your lawn ... look at the seed pod ... then imagine the plant as six feet tall ... corn
*beams at judi*
Ahem Sue, my life has not gotten so boring that I watch grass grow. : )
I think I spelt something wrong...
*she has a rye sense of humor that one*
or perhaps you are organized enough that you mow your lawn before it gets to that point, molly :-)
amaizing
Movie man! You've got Tintin up!
lol
I am amaized that this behaviour is tolerated. .
LBD wants to talk about grass. Fire up the bong.
(you can go away and come back when it is done, too, you don't actually have to watch it the whole time :-)
to state the obvious, a'll are sooooo corny!
I have rasta, I enjoyed the film very much
youre all getting onto grass
wheat can you expect from abunch of wordies?
The grain in Spain stays mainly on the plain.
These puns are oatso simple!!!!!
groan
ye, I liked it too, despite the melding of the two stories plus a few extras. And they even got Bianca in there!
touches
Next thing y'all will be telling me that to4 is also in the grass/corn family
had that one focal
Corny & flakey, that's what those puns are!
Its midnight here I'm just not getting that last 18 this way
* red face *
:-D
that's ok, focal, I got 4 words from that so far :-)
And then we will make corn/grass/to4 chocolate pie. It's so healthy!!
whatcha need, Vanilla?
I like to ryes to the occasion
I'm listing its just a chore but I'll get there
oooh, good one, movieman! :-)
anyway, must run, have an appointment with the retirement counselor at 10:30. Big changes in my life happening now.
mm - LOL
You are cereal punners!!
I think i'm out-punning punster here!!!!
me? I am on the straight and farro and not punning
I'm going to call it there, catch you all tomorrow depending on the grid and other RL concerns
what changes uusue?
I've been off my game pun wise for some time
seeya punster, nice talking to you
It sounds like Sue is planning on retiring.
Hmmm. That one's stretching it a bit, ruru.
yh, ru, your'e digging your own grave there
I just ate some farro the other day. Delish.
isn't it?
beats the hell out of bean curd
Amen to that.
<---Stands in the No Bean Curd zone
mixi, I filed for bankruptcy yesterday and am now hoping to be able to retire in June (since I am out from under all the debt)
but i like to4. there are other soya products i can do without like the milk or should that be mulk
that would be milfu lb
Soy milk makes me gag.
and sorry to drop that into the chat and run but I really do have to go! Will be back when I get to my office.
lol ru! good one!
later, UU
I'm sorry UU
good luck uusue
Time for a break. bbl.
later, Judi
must go swap out laundry...way too much fun over on this side of the screen.
It's almost ironic that filing for bankruptcy would allow someone to retire. : )
Either that or a very bad indication of our financial times.
te6.18 -- part of the male body
fo6,27 first one?
FIREWORKS! Have to go; stuff to do outside before it goes dark.
nm. fireworks here too.
a stink mix
fo6/27....enemy + oh no, I have ***n a hole in my dress
back later for the last 10 can't think anymore
whoooo hooooo Mixi and Jac
sweet sleeps, Vaniila
nice jac
I wish I was done
I think I am going to list. I can't find anything now
*then finds two more*
3
Hey ruru.
gm neil
how are you?
Oh not too bad thanks... you?
And good morning to you too.
pretty well. got some decent news on my knee from a new doctor
Missing a lot of Babble lately... life gets in the way, dammit.
Oh really? What's that?
yeah.. Babble is a huge time commitment
Haha. If you let it be I guess.
Looks like I may not need a replacement.. but my tennis days are over for sure.
Oh yeah? So what can be done?
Is there some way of fixing it so you're not in all that pain anymore?
I have to have some more tests done and a bone scan..then I will know more
maybe arthroscopic is my fate
Oh, ok.
Arthroscopic surgery shouldn't be too bad. Some pain and swelling for a little while after while it heals.
But that's to be expected with any surgery.
this doctor doesn't feel replacement is warranted
Good!
Some would want to do it anyway, or too easily.
so.. I had some relief..the pain has lessened somewhat and is only bad in wet-cold weather
Oh really? What has given you that pain relief?
ruru.... I've had arthroscopic surgery done on both knees... it helps for quite a while,... but is not a cure all.... My pain is back but as with you, the specialist says they do not yet warrant replacement :-(
it's just sort of toned down in the last few weeks.. I'm not sure why.. maybe the inflammation has gone down some
Oh, do they not want to do knee replacements until a certain age?
sorry to hear that Diane
I think they only last so long neil
surgeries are great as you get older
Oh geez. :( That's not such good news.
I mean not so great
I rely on cold packs, anti-inflammatory drugs and a topical anti-inflammatory cream called Dyclofenac.... surprisingly that helps !!
Wow. You should give that a try ru?
I can't take anti-inflammatory drugs.. bothers my GI
Oh no. :(
but the cream might help
Well the topical cream may help?
Yeah.
But I have good times too... and the more you can build up the muscles around the knee, the better it is... I don't take drugs very often... just Aleve occasionally
And the cold packs too.
What exercises would build them up, Diane?
I take vicodin when it is bad .. that helps me cope
and the treadmill.... I can do that ! .... no impact. Sleeping is the real problem... can't find a place to "put" them when in bed.... my knees, that is LOL
was wondering where she was going there
lol.... thus the clarification !
You would, ru. :P
maybe I can tell Mrs Ru that more sex will help me build up my muscles?
[thinks ruru's mind needs a cleansing]
Yep, I know. I should talk. :P
Just stay off your knees, ru. ;)
talk about the pot calling the kettle something
I actually hurt my left knee that way, last week.
woof
But a couple of days on extra-strength Ibuprofen and it was a lot better... fine now.
Old minor injuries from childhood come back to haunt one... they find all the vulnerable places and settle in with a vengeance.... in the spots where the osteo-arthritis dwells as well.
the knee you mean?
Yep. I injured that knee as a kid.
Yes ruru, the knee. :P
I just wish I cut back on tennis some instead of being a maniac about it over the last ten years
and I have to go now... to play the piano for people who are in a LOT worse shape than I am ( The nursing home ) Have fun, everyone !!!
bye diane.. thanks for the tips
I play piano too. :)
mine interferes with my golf :-(( byeeeee
Diane is such a sweetie : )
I have clips of my piano playing on Youtube.
Enjoy your visit Diane.
Good morning everyone
Good morning SeaSpray!
How is the grid this great day?
Pretty good so far.
It's very doable. Got to 60% without listing.
Hi Sea
sounds encouraging then
gets tough with about 40 to go sea
I will enjoy it while I can then lol
I usually list when there is 50% to go. So you can tell it's an easier grid
Yep. I'm beating that last 40 into submission now.
interesting way of putting it neil
:P
finally have all the c's.. jeezus
WTG ru.
and the e's
Es aren't too bad... there are a lot of Cs though.
But that's me done and outta here... lots of stuff to do, busy busy. Take care ru, see you later.
Have a good day everyone.
You too Neil
with the list.. they're coming down quickly
bye neil congrats.. have a good day
diane -- is the dyclofenac non prescription down here?
I think Diane left Nan
darn - guess she's gone
husband uses it -- but we have to get a prescription for it at home
I would guess it's a prescription item nan
it is a prescription drug here too
wandering in and out here; but just now got the NBT (had NBS already)
Nef The Wandering Nomad
ty nef -- was hoping we could stock up!
first ce 5/12, please?
Not really, Molly; I don't want to get too far into doing chores; so I sit and play a few minutes; then switch laundry loads; come back and play for a bit; then start cleaning the bathroom, etc. Housework is not my favorite chore these days
sorry, Nan, I don't have it yet (but am looking)
Housework never was and never will be my favorite chore...but it is so nice when it is finished!
very true, Sea. That's why I just plug away a bit at a time
I do mine in stages as well....used to be I had to do it all in one day...not anymore
(and it never is "finished" in my house; even when I spend a whole week at it. Once you do something; you turn around and it's dirty again (same with laundry)
well yeah....but I don't count laundry lol
Good day all. Stats on the right column e, please? Also, the second column, top e.
ok Nef...you made me feel guilty...am going to vacuum now lol
right e is a common babblet e4/7
THEY ARE DONE! THE TAXES ARE FILED!...shake..sudder..twitch..gasp.. .
got it, thnx
top e is eo 5/10 and pl
Good job, crossy
i can feel my left eye twitching..what does a stroke feel like? lol
not like a twitch, crossy
why do they not just lop 40% of the top like they want and leave us in peace...whew
tax returns like that take a year off my life i swear..need a tea...
Hi TNana!
so crossy, are you paying in, breaking even, or getting a refund?
refund:)
so the fret and worry pays off.
it does indeed, but it is kind of like betting someone 100 dollars that you are willing to mash your fingers with a hammer..the money is nice but the pain is a pain
but i am almost restored,a nice hot cuppa tea and some babbling are doing wonders
They won't just lop off the 40%, because then the rich wouldn't get all the exceptions and the poor will support them.
Oh and God forbid the upper class should have to pay their fair share of taxes (said dripping with sarcasm)
mm this is true,we get table scraps that fall off the 1% of the 1% table as it is
hmmmm taxes the same the whole world over
And people wonder why the "Occupy" movement has gotten so popular.
we have a philantropher(sp) here by the name of peter munk.great fella, donates to opur hospitals enough money to make entire new wings and new equipment etc.he was angry one year cause he payed 10% of what his office workers pay in taxes
but like i say,he sends a ton of cash to you sick kids and cancer hospitals
our
but it seems the more you make, the more loopholes you have:(

hi again all!
wb suze!
so I had my retirement counseling appointment, and things look good. I am applying to retire on July 1!!
and hi crossy!
{{sue}}
hi ruby!!
yaa for sue! parties every day!bacon vodka binges! jetsetting!
lol, crossy!
You are lucky Sue. Not many people can retire at your age. Enjoy.
we had a foot of snow and now it's cold, so it will probably stay here 'til April, but it's beautiful!
filling that passport!
although it turns out that even though my retirement pay will be about 3/4 of what I make now, my take-home will be almost the same due to fewer deductions
yaaaa for sue!
that is terrific!
and I already have my passport, crossy, better watch out :-)
crossy put out a extra brunch plate...
martinis are mixed and chilling....
I was wondering how you got in and out of Israel without one Sue. : )
you didn't have a passport?
Yeah she does Ruby, that was a joke.
sorry, sense of humor frozen... :(
it had expired (and I lost it) so I had to get a new one to go to Israel
oh wow sue.
I am looking forward to it - was getting pretty burned out. And I can still teach a course every now and then if I want to (and if they want me to).
that would be perfect
Sounds like a charmed life.
just don't get back in debt uusue.
No, the debt problems were due to two ex-husbands who are now out of the picture. It feels good to be starting over again.
then they are worth being ex-es.
They certainly are, mixi!!
boo hiss on exes!
You said it, ruby!

Evening Babblers, dashing in for a quick look between Mom-taxi runs. How are we all this sunny snowy bright dull spring day?
hi focal! Dull here but at least the fog has lifted
(the real fog, that is, my own personal internal fog is still there)
Let's babble it away!
lol Hi Focal
Hey hego
I am getting close to half way...
Reminds me of one of my favorite Dickens quotes: It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
That's lovely Molly, and describes this time of year so well!
UUSUE2 I am almost half way too 109/117. Tricky grid today I think
you are 3 ahead of me, focal :-)
focal, you are becoming as addicted as the rest of us.
I see the symptoms.
I know Hego, there will be an intervention shortly I fear!
not around here. lol
I know, this is a safe place for lunatics, that's why I like it so much!
; D
114/112, time to get some work done...
A haven for the Etymologically Insane. . . .
Lunatics, half wits, those afflicted with Sever Word Geek-itis, it's a haven for all.
do you mean bugsy?
Or severe
You overtook me there while I was babbling, very cunning!
OK, Mom's taxi just got a fare from a young scout, gotta go. Catch y'all later. Slán :)
bye!
I truly do not miss those days when I spent half my life in a mini-van hauling kids around town.
me either
I do miss the kids who are not kids anymore though. All my son's friends still call me Mom.
me too, Molly
new to babble in need of some friends ....
Welcome tiger
why thank you SeaSpray
hello tiger, have you been away for a while?
yw..you will be addicted in no time...and will meet many wonderful people
Hi Tiger. welcome!
Not been on as I wasn't a Pro player but I am now....
ah, well then, welcome to babble, hope to see you more frequently
Addicted already.... Currently unemployed due to being made redundant at christmas so I am keeping myself busy between job hunting
Flosey, Hego & SeaSpray can I add you as a friend... Won'r hurt you honest
oh dear, sorry to hear that, hope you find something soon
why of course tiger, happy to be your friend
No problem!
absolutely
thanks one and all....
yvw
The phrase "being made redundant" seems so self-defeating.
Good luck finding a new job Tiger.
Thank you MollyL... Its just a horrible time that's all, so I will be keeping my mind active so I don't give up
Babble is a great place for the unemployed.
Good luck to you
thanks Hego....
: )
Bye All. hagd !

Hi all, taxi journey done, uusue2 you are probably basking in fireworks by now. . . and I'm still not half way! Any help on 2nd row E words please? And the niner?
is that the ef focal?
the9 is more of the cu7 to be sweeter
no, second row, must be et. Maybe ET went home!!
Oh for heavens sake Lilliann, that's such a makey=uppey word!! But needless to say I am delighted with it - thanks!
if the et to score on glass
yw :)

I have th score on glass one?
Yo! Halfers at last, and if I could crack that 2nd row E I would be nbt nbs. . . . help?

i don't have the otherones yet tho, so sorry, no help

that's the definition, not a clue
hi glant
just found the eo5/6
Hi Lilliann - and it is eo5/10 but i don;t know how to clue it
ao and the 7 deadly ones
add a vowel to the end for the 6
*eo
good clue
ty lilliann
ty glant. i'm not a very good cluer but i do try my best :)
yw sea
Thanks, nbt nbs (thinking about my nwb but thinks it's a little early!)
nwb?
i was thinking the same glant:)
are you in yopur new house yet glant?
nice warm bed
no.... but my old house is going though - exchanged contracts yesterday, complete tomorrow
oh ok focal :)
ah, nwb - don;t have one of those at present LOL
so when do you move in and where are you going until you can?
I am staying with a friend until my new house either settles or I cancel the deal - could go either way at the moment
but her heating and hot watyer system has broken down so it's a bit of a cold existence at present!
that would be a shame if you have to cancel. i hope all works out quickly and smoothly for you
if it all goes ahead i will move in 12th Feb
oh no,not good especially at the moment with the cold weather!
I need an answer/commitment tomorrow
flippin freezin'
they are talking about snow in the next couple of days
aye, you can't keep hanging on, especially if you have to look for somwhere else
but i do have ahot water bottle LOL
-4 here at the moment
well atleast that is something :)
i've been wrapped round in my duvet most of the day and evening with 2 cats as my hot water bottles :)
and we have showers at work so i will go in early and use one of those ;)
well that's good.atleast your be warm, freash and clean smelling :)
will make a chnage LOL
lol
Greetings, fellow British Isles folks..... Its a bit nippy out there..........
good evening Soodle - yes, flippin freezing
hi soodle.it certainly is!!
Minus 5.5 this morning as I left home for the salt-mines!
no idea what it was but the wind chill in Chepstow this lunchtime was breathtaking!
Am very impressed with Focal's new acronym... NWB. Bless the inventor of electric blankets.
and hot water bottles
i don't need electric blankets soodle as i hjave 2 cats plus i'm in the menopause so i have to have the radiator off in the bedroom as i'm the nearest to it and i have a fan going all night on high...poor hubby who normally gets hot has the cover over his head!!!lol
Bless 'em all! :-)
never felt the need for eith in a home with heating - this unheated home takes me back to my childhood where I used to admire the ice patterns on the inside of the windows...
have you tried a 'chillow' Liliann?
and dis you have an outside toilet glant?
by the way that wasn't being cheeky?
chillow?
i didn;t have an outisde toilet at home, but my grandparents did - and i spent every six week summer holiday woth them
my gnome already is!!:)
tin bath in fornmt of the fire too
me too glant
Hmm. The radiator in my bedroom is banjaxed, which is fine until the temps drop to sub-zero. During the horrificly bad weather last year, I found ice on the inside of the bedroom window. Thats when I invested in a lecky blanky.
chillow - a chilled pillow designed to m ake life more comfortbale whenyou are menopausal with night sweats - just google it
as in my grandparents did but they also had an inside one and a bath and my nan used to make me eat a raw carrot every night so i could see in the dark for the loo...never needed the loo at night!!
no double galzing soodle?
i am lucky in that my friend is letitng me stay rent free, but also thta I prefer cool homes to hot ones - mind you, I didnlt bargain for the levels of chill we are dealing with in her house, bless her
ok, will do thanks glant. i've been it for nearly 8 years, hopefully it won't be much longer!!
Yup, got double glazing, but a complicated electrical arrangement for outside lights etc means my small window has to be left open 24/7. Brrr
oh dear Lilliann - my menopause lasted about 10 days but as it was chemotherapy induced I am not sure I'd recommend it!
we need new double glazing as every window is damp in the morning oin winter
The chillow sounds great. Even for the not-yet-menopausal. I often wake in the middle of the night and find if I turn the pillow upside down, I can get back to sleep.
oh, sorry to hear that glant. mine is due to early hysterectomy
i hope all is good now glant?
it was back in 2005/6 and as far as I know I am fine - a lopsided Amazn woman with attitude LOL
i agree soodle, my hubby could probably do with one as he always turns his pillow over when he gers hot
lol...sounds like my cousin :) glad you're ok now hin
i have a better appreciation of life for the experience
my cousin is the same and since my life has changed in different ways so do i.i think sometimes we all take life for granted and i also believe we need to live every day one by one and enjoy what we have and take nowt for granted as we never know what is around the corner
why isn't toesies a word???
if cu9 is a word i think toesies should be one LOL
would it not be without the i?
lol, i agree
apparently not
74 left here and with flu is not good!! :(
146 left for me
but at least i don;t have flu
i also have a stomach bug but eh, that's life!! i won't be beaten!!!!!
glad to hear it glant
poor you
Yack Flu! Poor Lily.
flu and a stomach bug - eugh
I've never had the flu, thnakfully
i'll try not to spread my germs!
I only had flu once. And once is quite enough, thank you very much.
it's been coming for a while i think...my hubby had all these things before we went on hols at christmas and i was bad when we were away but have got alot worse since back
you've been ill since Xmas? awful. If I do ill at all it has to be quick LOL
Hot drinks, rest and more rest, Lily. (Dr Soodle's invoice is in the post...)
i keep feeling light headed which doesn't go well with my usual dizzy spells....and as i spend majority of my life sitting or lying down i'm even more sick of having to lie down!!
i just hate not being in control!! thanks soodle. i think i will have a hot chocolate in a minute :)
dropm some whusky in it
and honey
i hate whisky and don't have any but i do have some tia maria :)
in fact, just have the whisky and honey and lemon and hot water and forget the choclit!
oh, tia maria in choclit soiunds divine
i've been drinking lemon and honey, lots of herbal te4 ,taking flu tablets..you name it i think i've had it :)
it's your body's way of telling you to slow down then
it is nice glant. my ex got me into it. i don't like it on it's own but in hot chocolate made with milk, it is lovely
i couldn't go any slower if i wanted to glant! it's just when i get bad, it normally rakes longer for me to get over it
since I got cancer I hav to eat really healthily or I feel incredibly tired and ick up every bug going
how have i missed the ho5/6 homes
my idea of the perfect decadent treat is a punnet of blueberries or cherries LOL
my cousin is the same...she doesn't eat any dairy products
thye were pretty obvious Lily!
i love both of them but they are so expensive to buy
I don;t eat any dairy either
yeah...thanks for that glant...not to me!! lol
I am eating a punnet of organc blueberries which cost 19p - tescos sell by dates are wonderful!
tu6?
Yum. Organic blueberries. Om nom nom. :-)
very om nom nom - and down form 1.99
i have bought myself 2 dwarf cherry trees but doubt i will get any this year. i also have red currant, raspberry and ic an't remember what they are called...the dark berries in ribena?
blackcurrants
that's a good price
the only fruit i'm not so keen on
that's it...ty glant
evening ladies and gents
Hi Kazzer
the birds usually get them tho as i can't get down the bottom of the garden to get them and the bairn won't and hubby normally away working that time og the year
hi kazz
i have been told to eat more fruit. hopefully next year we will have our oown. we are planting red currant white currant and gooseberries
i don't have the tu6/7 yet glant, sorry
bribe the bairn....
white currants? never heard of them kazz
i don't have tu 7 either
it doesn't work glant as she is 12 going on 17!!!
raspberries are so easy and I love them - I planted autumn fruiting ones and they used to fruit in June then again in September - was still picking at beginning of Nov this year
i'll have to get some atumn ones too, but i now need to grow my fruit in tubs and window boxes so i can get to them easily
tu6 tu+ rhymes with say
i grow peppers, courgettes, different types of tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers and strawberries too
what is a courgette?
i did too but if i get this fluppin house will have to rethink as it is all hard landscaping
zucchini
not getting your clue,Glant
hello all
zuchini i think
ok
hi peri
sort pf phonetic peri
hope you feel better soon lil
thanks peri
but you can grow them all in tubs glant
mssing a lot of 7's
what are easy vegetables to grow in tubs
they are much sweeter than red currants and have none of the bleurch taste of blackcurrants. I also some some rose berries advertised which looked like blushing white currants - might get a bush to try
all the ones i've just mentioned peri
or fruits even
ok
peri - little ball carrots, radiated, turnip is you pick them young, tomatoes, all sorts of greens
I love raspberries anc cherries
Good morning all
never heard of rose berries either kazz. will have to look them up
hi lyn
still not getting that tuy
oops I meant radishes
tu7 even
ball carrots?
i've grown the round carrots too kazz, they are sweeter than normal ones and go well in salads
we have lots of squirrels here
and radishes
and some rabbits
ok, thinking about the tu
you can get round carrots
you gte silk tussahs
I've just bought some called paraceba - they seem to look like bright orange radishes in shape
change the ;last vowel
The latest craze here is to grow vegetables in raised purpose built beds - either corregated iron or wood...very good where you don't have any space.
i will have to grow in tubs
silk tussahs?
hi lynn
ty glant,new word for me
yes, tussahs - change the last vowel for the tu6 and pl for the 7
I've been growing in riased beds for 10 years
missing 12 seven letter words
you don;t dig them, and they are easy to reach form both sides when you need to plant or pick or weed
and lots of other words
bbl
missuing 15 7 letter words here peri ;)
i have bricked raised beds lyn, and grow flowers and veg in them...easy to get to in my chair
we are sort of doing a semi raised bed to even out the back garden - it will be 2 boards high at the front but the side boards will go back into the ground so the bed is level for growing
i'm missing 6 peri
bfn peri
sounds good kazz
I have just ejected a drooling cat from my lap
Lil...I'm not in a chair but would appreciate raised beds! I'm thinking of buying a metal bed to put in a sunny spot on my bricked patio area...my garden is too shaded now with trees
My friends cat is a bit of a wold one and he mews loudly but he aso lashes put and bites
he comes asnd asks me to stroke and ticklet and i do - very ciutiously
i bought myself some miniature plum, cherry, apple and there is another one but i can't remember what it is which you can grown in pots or garden
but he drools when i do LOL - never seen a dribbling cat before
my friends cat dribbled but he had a bad tooth
a cat of extremes
I fancy a nectarine or fig
that sounds good lyn, and i think whether your'e in a chair or not raised flower beds are best as no back ache or not so much :)
but not sure how well a nectaruie would do
my old ginger cat called ginger(not by me) use to drool all the time but he was soooo loving bless him!!
this one is devil and loving in alternate doses
I wish I had appreciated the self sown fig tree that we had in our first house more...now I love love love figs
mine was just lovely...he didn't have a bad bone in his body and shared our garden with all the wild life!! lol
my friend gets about 6 phone calls a day about him - because he goes off and stands in the gutter in the ,iddle of town and mews incredibly loudly and looks pathertic and people assume he needs help...
I love love love figs too but they are really expensive here
i've only had them once in ecypt and didn't like them lyn, but i don't know whether it was fresh or old, but i do like dried and fig rolls
about a $AU each
lmao glant...he just likes attention...obviously!! lol
I think so Lily
They can be here too...I paid a fortune for them to have on Xmas day - fresh with duck as an entree - yum. Dried figs are great in meat dishes...morrocan type stews etc..add a really nice sweetness
my nextdoor but one neighbout grows all sorts...he has peaches, all the ones i grow, damsons and a few others i cant remember. he buys alot from ideal world on the tv
i might try a cooking a morrocan stew lyn, sounds nice
they are lovely Lily - just google tagine recipes
lots of lamb and apricot
and don't forget to throw in a tin of chick peas - very good for you
I make veggie moroccans stews with chickpeas and tmaties and spices and apricots and serve with coucous
thanks for the tu6/7 glant, just got it :)
and butternut squash
yw
My fav is lamb, pumpkin, sweet potato, chick peas, dried figs and pretty heavily spiced.
sounds yummy
hubby doesn't like cous cous but i like it if it has alot of flavour but i'm not a spicy person, he likes chick peas, i don't but i do buy the tins of mixed beans and add them to casseroles and stews
I adore chickpeas - not quite sure why but I do LOL
I once had a chickpeas and rice recipe that I couldn;t resist but can't find it any more :-(
i love butternut squash but the bairn and hubby dont
I do a roasted pumpkin (your butternut squash) and chickpea and cucumber salad, w. cumin and a tart dressing - very nice
i thought pumpkin was a different veg to butternut squash as pumpkimn is rounded and squash is long
...but I don't like the to4.8 I just found
i don't like pumpkin but i like butternut squash especially roasted
pumpkin in the Uk is bigger, more watery, softer
butternut squash is denser, pear shaped and sweeter
the veggy one lyn? i 've never tried it
just horses for courses Lil...the only 'squash' we have here are the small bright yellow ones
to4/8?
sort of Lil...made from beans
ah, our butternut squash is a very dense one with buff skin (very thin) and which is sort of elongated pear shape
normally in the uk we only use them for halloween. i've tried cooking with pumpkin but can't get on with it? but i must say i do like the pumpkin bread...mom sent me a kit and me and the bairn made some and i like that but preferred it with the icing on
very diff textured flesh to other squashes
In Australia we call that butternut pumpkin
and is orange when you take the skin off and we only normally or i do eat the long bit which you can cut up in chuncks and the rounded end i normally throw away as i can't be bothered to get rid of all the seeds
I just scrape the seeds out with a spoon
like you I prefer the butternut to any other pumpkin. I have made a cake using that as well - very nice, again lots of spices
ah ok, that's really interesting lyn. as we have 2 different veggies with the same names
there are some pumkin squashes called turk's heads - they have nice texture and are good baked - also some special ones with blue in the title - dense soft well flavoured flesh
i can't be bothered to do that glant and then you don't get as much squash when it is peeled, plus arthritis in fingers, is too much for me
the turks heads are very pretty to draw as well!
i've never heard of turks heads glant
you'll have to give me the recipe for the butternut cake lyn, i like carrot and parsnip cake
they look like a turkish hat lil and are beautifully striped in greens and yellows - like a large and small donut shape on top of one another
oh ok, thanks lyn
well, I am finally half way through so taking a break - bbl
can we get them in tescos and sainsburys glant?
bfn glant, if i don't see you later tc and i hope all goes well with new house
i'm off to pop some more pills and have a hot chocolate..bbs
bye Glant
bye Lill, I'll look up that recipe for you
thanks lynn
*lyn
<Feels like typing a word from the grid into the chog, in the hope I'll get sent to the PB. Am craving choclit.
oh no doodle don't do that - having enough probs with hubby
oops bloody predictive text - soodle
you can have some of my hot chocolate with tia maria if that helps....not proper chocolate but still tastes nice :)
hmm that sounds yummy Lill
it is kazz....i'm hoping the flu pills and tia maria will just knock me out all night but not until i finish this grid!! :)
i've put loads of straws in so no germs and all can share :)
yay 7's done!!
I got one left - must go and look for something be back in a bit
Yak, Kazz. Hope probs with hub are minor and easily sorted out. (((( Hugs)))
Off to fill the hot water bottle, find the glass for the teeth, locate the gozunder, and wish you all a good night :-).
Wow, early to bed with Lady Soodle tonight.
loli need a gozunder soodle... i don't have many teeth, but all mine...lol
lol i need a gozunder soodle... i don't have many teeth, but all mine...lol
nite hin and tc.x
Oh yes..... Mention a gozunder, and Molly will appear!! Hello my dear!
she oeither has one or needs one doodle! lol
(((Soodle))) a goodnight hug and himself remains in my prayers.
Much appreciated, Molly. Thank you (((()))). Night all :-)
* flu pills and tia maria either don't go or my spelling is getting worse or i'll just blame it on my dodgy keyboard as all the letters have disappeared due to babble!!
Lil, I was catching up with the chog and saw you didn't threw the squash away with the seeds in it? Cook it whole and then remove the seeds; it's no work at all that way
nite soodle.x
i do throw that bit away with the seeds nef.i suppose if i was doing a soup i wouldn't.how would i cook the whole lot nef? if i peel it which i find difficult can i just roast the whole thing or do you mean boil, slow cook?
i love butternut aquadh and would love more recipes with it
i normally get hubby when he is here to peel hard weg like butternut aquadh and swede
do you have swede?
*squash
i am going to grow swede this year
is it easy to grow kazz?
up here they call it turnip, but i keep saying, turnip is white and fed to cows normally although you can buy it in shops..i like turnip roasted
dead easy - grew it from seed last time - straight in the ground and just thinned them out. Thing to remember thought is that swede is a brassica so if you suffer from club root remember to lime the soil
you can grow little white turnips that you can roast whole
oh ok. is it something i can grow in a deep put?
*pot
yes - though if i was growing in pots, I would put them in a long rectangular one
a window box?
would that be deep enough?
as in the long ones?
that could work and then you could pick them small and sweet - doesn't need to be too deep cos the top half is above the soil
is that for turnips or swedes?
thats what makes the top of the veg purple - exposure to sunlight - both
the best thing we grew we dwarf french beans - planted 10 plants and the beans lasted for nearly 18 months
oh ok, how long do they normally take to gtow?
about 12 to 15 weeks but they can stay in the soil until you need them - just watch out for things eating them
really...i've never heard of dwarf french beans...and that was in tubs?
aye, same as carrots and radishes
it was in the ground but my friend grows all her stuff in tubs and she grows them
oh ok, thanks kazz, will look out for seeds so i can start growing them
i do like french beans...so i expect you still poles for them to grow?
i have my seed tin to hand - I will have a peruse and tell you
but i put canes in for my tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, cucumbers etc
ok, thanks kazz
Swede it says 6 inches apart but that's if you want big ones - grow 3 - 4 inch apart and you can pick little ones. parsnips are good one for deep pots - grew em like that last year and I got a big enough crop for me
roasted beetroot is nice as well
we will all have to post our veggies patch photos on line - perhaps we could have a babble veggie growers group in flickr
first ch5 pls
thanks kazz...i tried parsnips last year and didn't work for me. i will try swede this year and beetroot as hubby and bairn love it and my daughter helps me to plant...not very often as she gets bored but she loves harvesting everything....especially all my different types of potatoes!
the board game peri
duh, ty lil
the 7 goes off it
np :)
we have got international kidney and maris peer so far. I want to get some kestrel and then something unusual
ty found them both
have you grown pink fir apple?
yw peri
is that apples or potatoes kazz?
international kidney??
kestral?
spuds
ch7/40 pls
international kidney are jersey royals - yummy
i have grown different types of new potatoes, as in pink, purple but i couldn't tell you the names off hand...i got them from ideal world/gerden bargains
oh ok...never heard of them kazz
ch6/7 sounds like a top a woman would wear peri
peri - its a plural off a 6 - sounds like the word which means pick something but spelt with last vowel
don;t have the 6
peri - c plus the thing you live in
c plus what you live in, an abode
snap
ty, new words for me

good luck lill - speak to to tomorrow.
yay!! wtg kazz!! all the best to your hunny
*hubby
tc hin, sleep well
I only deal in home made soup Lilliann. The packaged stuff leaves a lot to be desired.
i only like hopme made soup too as i know what exactly is in it...plus it tastes alot better!
i can make a good french onion soup as hubby likes it and i prefer my home made tomato as it isn't so sweet but more tomatoier(i know you'll tell me 1, it either isn't a word or i've mis spelt it)! :)
Tomatoier is most certainly a word. Especially pertaining to tomato soup. : )
yay for me!! lol :)
ty molly :)
i'm feeling really crap but you are brightening my nite :)
If the soup is made with several cans is it still considered homemade?
in6/21 pls
in....begins at home!
or bees and ants and bugs
2nd in6/21 is what I need
either its the in6 where a family member is doing something with another family menber thay shouldn't or bugs
ty ty
it was the bugs one
i never make soup with cans cherry it is always fresh produce!!#
I need to start making soup again
Always glad to brighten your day Lilliann : )
I love homemade soup
you always do molly :)
so do i peri....shop bought has so many e's and other things in it...atleast when you make you're own. you can add as much pepper, spices, herbs etc as you like
Ihave been lazy lately. most of the recipes I have make too much and I need to cut down on the recipes or freeze some
e's ??
Canned soup has so much salt in it, it's ridiculous. And when I see people salting canned soup I gag.
and alot more suger molly
indeed, Molly and I see people putting salt on their meals in restaurants before even tasting it
*sudar
canned anything has a lot of salt in it
Oh Gads, restaurant food has tons of salt as well.
i never cook with saly as i think alot of the food we eat has its own natural salt and sugar
but i will admit to adding a little salt to roast potatoes, chips, and cottage cheese...but only a little
I use very little or no salt when I cook
lots of garlic and onions and spices tho
but thats only when it is on my plate
i love garlic
me too
ro6/27 pls
have you had gatlic in vinegar peri?
ro6 when something is pleated
*garlic
i think my flu tablets and tia maria chocolate have worked as my typing sucks!!
*Puts a nice, warm blanket around Lilliann*
and pl for 7 peri
thanks molly but i have pj's on, cardigam, hubby's thick dressing gown on and a single duvet wrapped around me aswell as heating on and i'm still cold!! :(
Plenty of fluids and rest for you, young lady.
perhaps i should cover up my butt! lol
i've been doing that for the last few days molly but nowt working...but hey, i have babble to make me feel better...or not, but my friends here are :)
Have you seen a doctor about this?
Hi everyone. May I please have a clue for ru6-33? Thanks
ru6 sounds a bit like a name tou would call a big dog, but add a vowel
a Roman/Latin man's name + a vowel
dorry crap clue
*sorry
describes a reddish animal
no molly as i've had enough of doctors the last 10 years and they would just say take paracetomol! i don't want to waste their time as there are peopleworse off than me and plus i can't always get to the surgery!
Thanks much, lilliann, and turqaz.
yw
yw peach
Well then, I'm sending healing blessings your way Lilliann.
thank you molly, that means alot :)
finally fireworks...now to go sleep under duvet!! tc and hugs to all babblers.xx (poof)
Congrats, lilliann!!!!!
Hi all! Sorry to have miss lilliann. It's not surprising that she's cold; it's on its way to -10 deg C here tonight.
*missED, I meant.
Hi there, Jacula.
Hi gapeach. How are you?
Good evening Babblers
Good evening wht.
could someone clue the ou 6/27 please
Doing OK today....thanks and you?
Hey there, wht.
Does anyone have a clue for the first ch6,27?
Hi ruru. ou6.27 is plural sound you make when you get hurt.
thanks jac
ou6,27 hurts.
Hi ruru
wht - ch6/27 is an old word for 'swindle' or cheat. c _ the building you might live in.
c+, that should have read.
hi everyone
ty jac. New word for me. There are a number of those in the grid today.
I'm trying to wrap this bad boy up now
gapeach - I'm okay. It's just all the others! (2 funerals to go to...:-( )
wht - it was a new word for me, too. My monkeys found it.
Oh, my, Jacula. I am sorry.
May I please have a clue for ch5-14 the 1st? Thanks
gapeach - 4 deaths, actually, but only two funerals to go to.
gap - ch5.14 - where you keep either your heart or your treasure.
Thanks Jacula, I have that as ch5-14 the 2nd. It is the very first ch word. Thanks
1st death was Other Half's auntie, 2nd was his old workmate (now in Canada), 3rd was an old chap my Mum knows who is a fellow dog-walker and 4th was my ex-hub's uncle (who I have known and loved since 1972).
clue for os6/18?
(((Jac))) sorry there is so much sadness for you right now.
gap - 1st ch5/14 word is a board game.
Yes, that just has to be difficult for you.
Molly - thanks. Yes, 2012 hasn't exactly got off to a great start!
Jac, that is a lot at once.
Thanks, Jacula.....have it now.
Sorry, wht, don't have it yet.
wht - os6.18 = bone collagen. os + first 4 letters of a French river (or a fishing net)
I had a year start like that once Jac. Hang in there, this too shall pass.
os7 is the plural.
ty jac. I must have monkeyed right around that one.
Molly - I know. The trouble with getting older is that people die! Having said that, OH's old workmate was only 43, same age as him.
wht, y/w.
...and gapeach.
Yes, thanks so much, Jacula.
Unfortunately - Beloved's aunt's death AND ex-hub's aunt's death were both caused by hospital negligence and bad hospital hygiene. There are now two coroner's investigations to go through.
Something is VERY, VERY wrong with the NHS when that happens.
That is just awful.
NHS = National Health Service, btw. Something that was once a wonderful thing in the UK and a service to be proud of.
Jac, it's frightening how often that happens. My dentist lost his mother to hospital negligence as well.
Anyway, I'm not going to get on a soapbox and make a speech about how there are too many managers and not enough nurses and cleaners. Does anyone need any more clues?
Ours is in bad shape also.
i do jac! :)
hi everyone..
Hi Cos
Molly - it's happening in the USA, too? Now that is scarey.
i need a clue for the first ch6 please
Hi cos.
Hi there, cos.
ch + mickey m****
thanks lbd.
Cute clue, lbdawger.
one more clue... the 2nd cu6/24 pleae?
<---thinks he'll skip surgeries for the time being
ch6 is an old world for swindle or cheat. c + the building you might live in.
Also, how in the world are you tonight?
cu rhymes with mucho gu**** plural
ruru - your remark worries me. People should NOT be afraid to see the doctor the moment they feel something is wrong AND should be able to trust the hospital to help, not make things worse or even fatal.
thanks lbd again :)
yw, cos
*sees chat: .. gosh.. don't you miss ruru and all of his awful puns*
cos - I hope you're not going to ask for cu7/36 or cu9/66 because the words will make you gag when you find them.
hi folks (ru, my post would be, "too bad we never got to see a photo of dylan"
LOL
ruru - we had a punning session here earlier about breakfast cereals.
Hi welki.
see jac.. a little bit of punner in everyone
hi, jac - i read a little back into the chat log. sorry you're going through a rough patch
YUP! Well, what do you expect in a room full of word freaks?
That was to ruru, not welki, btw!
welki - that's life, I guess.
:)
Fireworks
Hey, congrats, wht!!!!!
wgt WHT and hi all !!!!!! ~~~~~~ !!!!!!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?

Congrats to welki.
*hands welk a margarita*ty
ugh these t's
hello jacs!
i have no patience or stamina for this grid
thereis also a cu8?
to, there is not cu8. There is a cu7/9 combo which will have you wondering how Enable selects the words.
How are you, TO?
yep, the extreme cu7
what wht said *oops*
old. and getting oldertomorrow;)
Oh, happy birthday for tomorrow TO!
Happy Early Birthday TO!!
*puts up flag at half mast*

Have a HAPPY, TO!
Have a good day, TO!
Happy Birthday Eve, TO!!
we are under a blizzard watch. snow started at 5pm and is not expected to stop til friday evening.

btw - TO is now in PB for saying an sh4 word.
ty.this time i won't miss my train because of babbling! :/
*Hands Cos hot cocoa and a warm quilt*
day before birthday amnesty

i used to go to the auto show a lot when growing up. not my scene . . .
waiter to TO: .. can I interest you in a radial salad?.. it's a good year?
*groan*
Just checked our outside thermometer and it's -8 deg C at 2.26am. It's probably colder than that. The thermometer is on the outside of the kitchen wall.
iyhink i heard my dryer buzz
it was 60 degrees here yesterday molly lol. now most of the backroads are closed because of avalanche danger
*groan*
LOL
I know it's not cold by some USA & Canadian standards, but it's cold for UK.
Blech, I could never live in Colorado. Or Coloraydo, as Mother Abigail called it.
(rolling in pain from the horrid pun!) lol
lol i'm enjoyiing it though
trying to think of something - like buying a pair of pirellis - elsa pirelli's - studded
well that restaurant just got their first michelin star
That's plenty cold Jac. I pretty much ignore people who start out with "You think that's cold..." It's tiresome.
*polite applause* well done :)
tiresome molly?
cos - denver's supposed to get hammered too, right?
yeah they're expectng 22 inches
*rolls eyes*
it's the worst snow storm of the season.. and it's February lol
That is some serious snow.
ruru - I would imagine Molly's referring to oneupmanship on the Net?
anyone please help with ou7/40. ty
Yes, and punning along as well.
plural of opposite of in6, nurse
Hello nurse. ou7/40 is to reverberate louder. (Like a voice in a cave.)
Not in + what you get when you shout from a mountain.
finally found my last f word. it was a fo4/7 lol fish me
*throws cod, haddock, halibut, tuna etc., over The Pond to land on Cosdem.*
:) 106 left. ugh.
ty wht, Jacula and cosdem.
Know who your 'ememies' are now, Cos? LOL
or even 'enemies'! LOL
y/w nurse.
There are a lot of f'n words today, cos.
isn't that a rap star jac?
hola
no kidding wht lol
'evening, kje
hi kje..
hi kje
Tiresome seems a British word to me. I think I'm becoming affected by "Downton Abbey" : )
ruru - that's eminem. LOL
Hi kje.
the last ho7 please?
why would a rap star name himself after candy?
226 no way. will it help my ranking if i do some?
because he's marshall mathers
The last ho7 is what you get if your foot breaks through the ice.
suggested English spelling improvement: shofer
not cold + not a hand Ho7
thnaks ru
TY ruru
he's kind of a mess isn't he?
gwen - re the spelling. NO! Just NO!
ty
Thanks, wht, I needed that.
almost the ram's horn, shofer
i gues but damned talented.
shofar, yes, but i'm referring to the limo driver. no need to spell it in that crazy french fashion! lol
shofar, no?
yes
ohhhhh.... the showfer!
May I please have a clue for se6-18 the 3rd? Thanks
LOL!
I prefer the twofer
se 6/18 a group of 6 or 7
indeed, welki, but who needs a wub-wub to spell shofer? lol
I can never remember
gap - se = the last 6 lines of a sonnet.
se6,18 A collection of things + the sugary ending
*gets rid of the extraneous w*
Gwen - you know how to pronounce the word in the Frenchified form, so what's wrong with it?
i spell well but that does not mean i support the silly English tradition of spelling things every durn which way
in5/14 please?
wht - that's the 4th se6/18.
in + most of swearing
thanks ru..
Gwen - our way of spelling things is no more silly than the USA way of phonetic spelling.
i's done.
I can barely spell and you want be to count as well????
keep 'em coming, folks - you're helping me out with these clues :)
What we do is how we do it and what you do is how you do it, and vive la difference!
compared to german, spanish, italian, etc, our way of spelling is mildly insane (i'm not comparing english to american spelling here)
wht - LOL.
Thanks so much, ruru, Jacula and wht.
Gwen - German fascinates me. Like Welsh, it combines words to make insanely long words.
gap, y/w.
in5/14 = in + 2-point letter + United States abbrev
Started babbling at a late ho4/5 so didn't finish. Now here is a story. When I met my husband, fo4/8 years ago, I believed that he was the cu 6/24 person I had ever seen. His face was of5/16 et4/6 in my brain and I could not get it out. When hubby & I started dating he would take me out to dinner&I'd play fo 8/55 with him at the restaurant. I'd ho 4/8 it on over to his ho 5/14 every day after work. All my friends thought my behavior was a ho 4/5 because they thought I acted like a teenager in love.I wanted to be the perfect ho 7/32 whenever he came to my place. Realizing it was silly to keep going back & forth between our ho 6/24 we finally decided to buy a love ne 4/4 and live under the same ro 4/7. The next thing I knew I went to the st 5/10 to buy wedding invitations and I se 4/4 them out. Since then, unfortunately, our marriage has gone so4/5 with money being the ro 4/4 of our problems. I think things are really te 5/10 between us now. They have been the te 7/28 they have ever been. Sh5/12! Hubby wants to to4/4 me off the computer.Hubby to 6/18 me off the computer & us 4/5 it every time I'm babbling. I'm going to give him the laptop befo4/7 he cu 6/24 me out. He can be su 4/7 a pain! I'm going to go watch the Dustin Hoffman movie "To 7/28". Adios!
wow i just monkeyed the first ou7.
i like german and welsh, too 8-)
Min - brilliant clue story - though I did have to have a bit of a giggle at you wanting to be the perfect 'ho' when he came to your place.:-D
thanks min.. got some words.
wowo ty min
Obviously, I was just seeing 'ho' and not the female that welcomes guests to her house, btw.
70 left. All of them are R's, S's and T's. Lawdy lawdy
TY min, rounded up a bunch more woids
Who was it who used to say, 'lawdy, lawdy' as a catch phrase?
little richard?
Gwen - are woids on Babble like boids in the air? You think you've got 'em and then they flutter away?;-)
ec 6 pls?
now back to spelling. yes, germans are not as found of spaces between words as we are. e.g. bleistiftspitzmachine
ruru - that's the feller! Thank you.
someone who ec4's TO
woids and boids, yepper
one who who who who
lol une
Hi une.
ty en5?
hey, jac :-)
en + legal term
if you look at ancients writings (hebrew, greek, etc) you will find they did not put in spaces either
or en + girl/babbler's name
LOL! That's funny Jacula
TO - en5 - to turn out later.
butnowtheinternetisbringingbackthenosp acething
Or we open the chog and much hilarity en5's
ty fo6/27?
Min - well, you can imagine the scenario in my mind!
Touche, wht
fo6/27, plural of the latin word for a ditch
fo6 enemy + ***i Spelling
and peach to the pb :-)
Yep, I'm off to the PB
TO - plural of fo5/16 - the name of a Roman Way in Britain.
Or pl of fo4,7
true, wht.
the R's were pretty easy except the ru6 ... clue please? :)
the irst one?
ru6 = tinged with red like the fox.
Someone asked for se6-18 the 4th....I think I missed it. Please....thanks
thanks got it
i shall quit... with 70 left... too tired... hagn all
se6/18 (4th) is se + sugary ending.
night kje
It means bristly or spiny.
'Night kje.
i do not see the firstfo6/27not the fo6/30 subsequent
that's the one i clued, to
40 left!
fo6 enemy + ***i Spelling
fo6/27, plural my last name (not sure that will help you, unless you look at my profile)
BRB
TO fo6/27 is a bad smell. foe6/30 is British way of spelling fetus.
and the 6/30?toomuch noise, could not hear
TO - just told you!
I even told you using the 3rd letter, which I did not mean to do.
does that mean Jac needs to put one foot in the PB? :)
cos, you done it again lol
oh lawd
lol yes i did
did i change my icon?
chat flhing, posts crossing, going to morewordsngiht
nbt finally!
No idea what's going on here! This site is fine. Facebook is a nightmare or slowness.
*of not or.
bbl phone call.
Pickles - hello. I don't know. I don't know what your icon was before. You and a chap at a bowling alley, this one looks like.
it all depends on how good the fiber-optic cables are in one's area, and how much load is on them, and whatnot
Good night Babblers. Stay warm.
how about now?
'Night wht. I'll certainly try to!
Still same pic, Pickles.
pickles, when i click on you, i see a pic that looks like it's from an old b/w tv show, but in the chat i see a color pic, probably the bowling alley one
do not panic -- i have given up trying to change profile pix in here since it just doesn't seem to work until you do it a zillion times
That is Buddy's wife, Pickles! Great icon!
the last st6 please?
All you have to do is sign out and then sign in again, and then your new icon shows up. It's always been that way.
that's not me, i don't know who the girl is the man is my son
s + guided visit with a vowel at the end.
st6 = st + s*** (bitter tasting) + vowel
thanks jac and gwen.. i shld have tried that lol
I guess I'm the only one who can see Buddy and Pickles.
sign out and sign in again????? not sure i ever tried that!!!!!! (facepalm!)
st6/21, btw, is a conflict or turmoil.
Gwen - do you not turn your pc off at night?
i am running win7. it has a "sleep mode" so, no, it does not get turned off at night. but i do reboot regularly
how about now?
i can see the icon pickles
why won't it change on my profile?
but when i click on it its a different pic. a b/w one
I keep saying I can see it, I must be invisible.
Goodness! If more people turned things off at night, rather than leaving them on standby, there would not be such much waste.
same for me, pickles, but maybe i won't see your new pic unless *I* sign out and in!
14 left. All TO words
I'm going to go now, turning my pc off as I leave. See you all later.
Molly can u see it in my profile?
"sleep mode" overnight does not use any more electrons than startup does, according to my tech anyway
why do i even care?
Yes. Right click in your profile and then click RELOAD in the drop down menu.
i'm going to sign out and in and see what i see for your pic, pickles. just a sec.
ty, molly mission accomplished!
okay, pickles, i still see the same pics, a b/w one on your profile and a color one in the chat. don't know what to tell ya
fire... fkn.. works
Refresh Gwen
wtg cosdem !!!!!! ~~~~~~ !!!!!!
Congratulations Cos. Keep safe in the storm.
yep, i just refreshed, and still see the same things as when we started
help please I have 11 fo words and 2 fr words..and hello
i'm sure that was anti-climatic for everyone but me
anyone have the tu6/7?
anyone need clues? :)
lolpick
Yay cos !!
westford, i like your profile pic
hi west
thanks pickles..I see your new write up and the old picture unless Morey Amsterdam is really your son
refreshed again. no change. but i am using Babble Expert, which may be complicating everything
hi TO
and for crossys tidbit of the day i offer my babble buddies chinas new "panda cam!" you can now watch the daily activities of pandas! www.explore.org/pandas
hi crossy and thanks
any help for my missing f ?
howdy westford
ii am missing the same F, probably. Grrrrr
I keep trying froot
morewords says tusses is a word, but this game don't
tu6/7?
aha, try the word i just mention, but change the last letter into an diff consonant
that's for you, owl 8-D
thanks gwen
I hope you don't mind
so I never got the answer to my ? If i do part of the puzzle does it help my ranking?
hunting for an F now, and yes, i'm using morewords, heh heh
if you don't finish your ranking goes down
yes, finding even one word will help your ranking, pickles
ty gwen
now I'm getting conflicting reports
hmm mine always goes down
but it doesn't matter
te8 pls?
to be honest, i have not paid any attention to my ranking since i started playing, many moons ago. so maybe i'm wrong
t eo5/10 and a cuppa minus the last letter
aha, found the last f: fo6/27. fo + vowel + execu*** (old word for someone who ahndles a dead person's estate)
omg ty and i am falling asleep ! bye
good gwen..had that one
okay, then there's this one: british spelling of fetus (very similar to the other one)
good night TO..when you wake up there will be a present on your bed table
have that too
do you have three F words with a double-S in them?
according to montreal's cream o' stats: you get credit for the percent of points you get versus total for game and you get a point for completing
no just 2
aha, west, try fo5/16 with a double S in it
thanks pickles never read them
have Bob and plural
that would seem to support the notion that finding just one word is better than finding none. but then again, the rankings are also affected by how well everyone else is doing . . .
But.... if you miss playing one day, your ranking goes down a point... even if you don't sign in
sometimes I go for days without gaining a point..figured it had to do with grid size
okay, then you need a 4-letter word with a double S
and it takes one month to regain them,
TO did you eveer get clues for the tu's? I cannot find them. Thanks
I really need to read more
it's just fun to play
i clued the tu6 and 7 at 9:24 (and 9:23)
peach - Gwen gave them at 9:23 and 9:24 in chog
:)
same here... I eagerly look forward to a new grid each day !
so if you don't plan to finish you should go for high points if you care about ranking'
touches
hi diane how is little Arianna ?
sorryy!!
yeah, i hardly ever finish. usually i try to get over 2/3 done, or, on a really big one, 1/2 done
Penalty Box!
pickles in in a pickle lol
I hope I got her name right
ok then clue for the 9 letter
aww westford... You always remember !! She is pulling herself up by things, then doesn't know what to do... she will be 8 months old on Feb. 9
and yes... you got her name right !
cu9. a superlative, similar meaning to adorable
oh diane where does the time go?
and I am happy to announce I got my last f word
I should post a couple of recent pictures... she loves the big swimming pool.
hooray west!
way to go, westford !!!
it was the Bob word without the last e
I post many ( too many ) in Facebook but forget to update my Flickr pictures
west, yep, that's my last name.
would love to see a recent picture..she was such a beautiful newborn
I'll add a few more to Flickr right now
great !

root
I'll just stay in the pb all evening
pickles needs to head back to the penalty jar LOL
husband went to his office and had a pulled pork sandwich the size of RI so wasn't hungry
Thanks much, Book and firefly
yw peach
i have zo4/9 - stats on the other z please?
nvm, finally found it -been looking all day!
***hugs firefly*** hey all!!
i think that's the way to find silly words -ask in the chog, then keep looking and find it yourself
stiddy!!!
hi stid
down to 220 here, how's the grid going to be for tonight?
i heard you had a toe "jam"? was that right?
not too bad some silly words though
going to feed myself..bbs
pretty dumb, firefly, is all I can say. And yes, it's pretty owie. Especially after teaching all day. I have tomorrow too, then can rest all weekend.
later west
so sorry stid - hope it heals quickly
May I please have a clue for te8-40? Thanks
It is, firefly -- the bruising was almost gone this morning (compared to Monday when the toe was almost black...); and I know it's going to be about 4-5 weeks to stop being tender, so not too worried. My paternal unit tells me to see a doc, but I know there isn't anything that can be done -- the bones are not displaced -- so it's just a waiting game.
te 8? really? *looking*
sorry peach, don't have it
Oh, please, stid.
ho 7/44 pls
Thanks anyway, firefly.
what's the weather like these days? I'm heading there Monday/Tuesday for some doc appts. :(
oops. *sitting in PB*
it's LOVELY right now, sunny and dry. I think it might start being rainy again by then, though. hold on.
I have it, but hmmmm... how to clue it
um... Seattle or south? they have different weather than we do sometimes.
hey diane!
Seattle
Lovely sunset icon....
okay, brb
te + vowel + mortal *** + the first two letters again
i only have ho7/32
well, according to NOAA, it's likely to still be sunny on Monday. I am sorry you have doc appointments. I don't enjoy those.
great spelling, diane!
:-) got the sleeping sickness fly (for once didn't need a clue for it!)
Nope - got some really bad news, been fighting the insurance and docs ever since, but I think it's finally straightened out now, and over there I'll go.
Hiya Stid :-) I'm sorry you broke some bones in your foot... :-(( I broke a couple just back of my little toe, up the side of the foot .... it healed but I now find wearing high heels painful... so I don't !!
great clue diane, thx
Diane you are wonderful.....don't forget it. Thanks
i love the fly word! look for it all the time :)
sort of had to spell it right out with that one !!
(((((very gentle hugs for firefly))))) I am sorry you had bad news. Do you have anyone in Seattle to visit while you are there?
Thanks stiddy - no family or friends, just gonna hotel it with the hubby. Sad to leave my kiddies behind, but it's best this way.
Well, that will be okay, though. Some time together will be nice, I hope. Be patient and kind with yourself... *protective bubble around firefly*
diane - cute new pics of the dolly you have for a great granddaughter! i have a penchant for babies with tons of hair as all three of my girls had tons from birth
thanks firefly... I just added those last few. My three girls had lots of hair as well... son had lots but it was blond and I had to hold him up to the light to see it !
stid - have you heard any negative vibes/news from Harborview/UW? I heard something bad from my end to there and am nervous now going...
of course it could just have been some emergent cases that didn't turn out well, but i don't know...can't find any "news" on it, so maybe it's still just rumore
*rumor
I have NOT heard anything negative about Harborview or UW; Harborview is a top-flight trauma center, and has a solid reputation. Of course, individual mileage can vary...
\hute
thanks Stid - going for possible brain surgery, so it's kind of a big deal!
wow. ((((more hugs)))) firefly, do you want to be on my "list?" can I give you or your husband in-person support? It's only an hour away...
hey coyote man
I wish you all the best firefly.... you are so young.... Be positive about all things ! Prayers from me to you and yours !!
thanks for the offer stid, but you're doing plenty just being my friend that's close by and helpful ;) Do you know anything about Lynnwood? It's where our hotel is - not sure if it's, um, "safe"
thanks diane, appreciate the kind thoughts :)
Lynnwood does not have a negative reputation, I have a friend in the Seattle area, can check with him if you like
but this website seems to indicate that there are some risks. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/wa/ly nnwood/crime/#description
fireworks... surprised myself as I wasn't paying attention... and my last word was exactly how many words I have left ..... 0
oh my - thanks for sharing that stid (i think LOL)
nice work diane - and a fun ending!
well, you still have time to change your reservation at this point...
YAY diane!!!
but again, lynnwood doesn't actually ring alarm bells when I hear about it. There's a mall there... LOL
thanks stid :-) ..... You've cut your hair !!!
not really stid - getting a friends and family deal at the Marriott and it's lots cheaper than the one next to the hospital...but at least I'll be prepared mentally ;)
yeah, i think we're right by the mall
well, Marriott is a GOOD hotel chain, and I would think you are safe there!
LOL yes Diane, and now trying to decide if I want to grow it out again or keep it short and sassy...
i was hoping that might be the case...my saving grace if you will
firefly, are you registered at CaringBridge? It's a free online service so you or your hubby can post updates for people instead of having to field endless emails and phone calls.
It really suits you... if it's easy care... go for it. I loved my hair when it was growing out after the chemo.... should have kept it that way .... it even had a wave to it !
anyways, i was going to say that the good news is that it is not cancer, the bad news is that it is a giant aneurysm that's in a difficult to treat area at the back of my brain
well, CARP. VERY good that they found it. VERY sad that it's there to be found.
stid, yes i have heard of that - so far been keeping up with most people on my Facebook, and minimizing calls that way..
If I let it grow again, I think I will keep it to the look I had when I first met pinikula http://www.flickr.com/photos/59401038@ N00/3376721282/in/photostream
concentrate on the "good news" and let the medical experts take care of the bad.... ((((((( firefly ))))))
it was my last time to donate hair, diane, which makes me sad. But there is going to be too much gray in it in another three years.
So I figure I might as well go for a nice style now. :-)
firefly, are you my friend on facebook?
I miss Pini :-( .... I gues she doesn't play any more ?
she plays occasionally, but has been swamped with work lately, I think
no stiddy, i am not - strictly an IRL FB girl (sorry, it's my way)
that's okay, firefly -- a good policy. I only "friend" babblers, and IRL friends.
The new Facebook "timeline" is going to be forced on us very soon, I hear.....I just got used to the last changes !!
firefly, I have a friend in KY with the same problem....was diagnosed over a year ago and so far is still driving and doing her "thing". There are several Babblers who pray and send energy....if I may I will be happy to pray for you.
my hubby knows i play here though, and if anything serious happened, i'd be sure that he'd let my friends here know ;)
I don't like the way facebook (and now Google) just ram new looks down our throats. Just about the time I have things figured out and arranged so I can use them (vision problems) they change it arbitrarily and I have to try to find the settings to make it work again.
okay firefly, but NOTHING serious is going to happen. *stern mama look at weak blood vessels*
NBT finally...
well, I'm off to watch the last period in the hockey game with hubby.... have fun everyone... It was a nice chat and take care firefly... You have nothing but positive vibes coming your way, from everyone here !!
thx diane, enjoy hockey game!
night all z z z z z z z z
stid - stern momma look internalized, taken seriously
later diane, see you again soon!
oh, and i hate the Google thing too - but then one day, it just switched back to "normal" on me! yay!
gee that would be nice... *dreaming of my pretty former layout on gmail*
peach - i heard what you said, and thanks for the vote of confidence ;) I don't think I have that long to put it off, it's too risky, in too bad a place, but hopefully still in a fixable place
hi all. any good clues for the 8s or 9>
ooooh. halfway!
not really mkg, still looking for them!
You are blessed, firefly.
90 to go here, but i think i'm done...still recovering from very nasty stomach flu bug (and all three girls had it too, the oldest still does)
thx peach - i'm a believer
hey noble babblers...
hey gort
can i pls have a clue for the te8 and the 2nd se6?
firefly, I am very happy you were here when I logged in! Don't be a stranger! IF you need someone when you are in Seattle, my email is in my profile.
i must say, i've learned more about the ins and outs of all the various types/treatments of brain aneurysms in the last month than i ever knew there was to know
the second se 6 I have is a musical group of 6
Firefly, with all these good thoughts and prayers (not to mention stidmama's stern look) you are covered. God bless.
got that one thanks, stid

Christine - a name I've always been fond of, btw
Me too, darlin'
