my Dad had to go back to the emergency room...they gave him blood thinners...way too much...and had a bloody nose he/they couldn't stop for an hour...he's home now and they are adjusting his meds

Brought back a time I made a recipe called Waikiki Pork Chops. It had a large amount of curry in it. It looked beautiful. We took one bite, and Dan almost gagged. We took a red magic marker and put a huge X through the recipe.

Thai cuisine has a green and a red curry. The green is spicy the red is milder. Indian has yellow, brown, and red ones. Patak's brand makes a good jarred Indian red curry paste that, at least here, most supermarkets carry. Thai Kitchen brand makes good jarred Thai red and green curries.
I will have to check out some recipes and rethink it... haven't thought about curry in years.

we are having a very mild winter here - the temperature today is around 60! so it's really nice to go out
it has waqrmed up a lot, around freezing now!
any kind of walking is good, ruby - I never thought I would become as active as I have in the past year -
we had more than two weeks in the teens, very rare for here
start very slowly and work up to brisk. When I found out I was diabetic [about 16 or 17 years ago] I was a total couch potato. Now I walk 2 miles with them
I started out with 10 minutes a day, that's all I could do (I was really out of shape) and now I can walk for an hour, no problem
that was me, bichon, minus the diabetes, thank God
bichon, you would go crazy with Ruby: it's stop and sniff, stop and sniff, no real walking possible
And, the Vet always love what good shape they're in.
I also do ZUMBA twice a week - so much fun
I have Gentle Leaders for them and they can't do that.

I'm too poor to get my quilts quilted by ladies with machines, and they don't do it the old-fashioned way, if you know what I mean. I don't quilt - I enjoy making the blocks, or a baby quilt, but the hand quilting doesn't interest me, and I'm a dud at machine quilting. So I tell them, I'll do the patchwork, someone else can quilt it. A couple of our members have big quilting machines - I don't have the space even if I had the money for one.

That's a good approach, I suppose I could just do blocks to donate. But I'm kind of independent in my quilting, I end up with things that seem more like art. But I do make quite a few kid's quilts with matching pillows for new babies.
folks are always happy to get a quilt for their baby, so few do it any more.

The local ladies do put on a great quilt show every year, Mom and I love to go look at all of them.
How lovely. We have one member who does art quilts. A condition of membership is to make two babyquilts for Hollywood Childrens Hospital, needn't be complicated, just a bind and back a panel without batting for new babies. And now we're committed to making 70 twinsized quilts for the shelter.

my last attempt is still ongoing, trying to recreate a stained-glass window look with big flowers and leaves, all with 1/2 inch black outlines, saw something like it in the show a couple years back.

We have a steady core of about 18 members, the rest are not in the area, or come in occasionally. So about 8 or 9, plus the friend of one member, are making most of the 70quilts. One of our projects is working with women on Skid Row - no longer living on the streets, but in SRO housing, and a couple of them made and donated quilts.
