oh that's a lot. Mum land Dad lived on an island after they retired but only a population of 1000 or so
that's pretty small, they must all know each other

They did seem to all know each other - or at least know all about each others business!
there are a few islands up the coast like that - cars go over by barge but very few bother
oh yes, the business and personal stuff does get around - have to keep your nose clean, so to speak
so you have shops and services on the Island? ie the doctor?
oh yes, even a small hospital but we lost our surgeon and will not be replaced, so have to go to Victoria or Duncan for surgery
emergencies are flown off by helicopter
Thats good though. Mum and Dad had to catch ferry to get off Island - no shops. Bad in an emergency as the ferryman had to be called in to run it
at least he would be there then, if/when needed
Yes...there were a few attempts to get a bridge accross but the Island residents (incl my parents) valued the peacefulness of the Island. Anyway all history for me know...Mum and Dad died some years ago.
