yep....tornado lifted just before it was to hit hutchinson...about 40 miles from here...the town that was hit was sw of topeka...about 100 miles from here...but we did have some strong storms go thru with that line
whew dart
did that happen today?
early start to the sev. wx season
scary... glad you all are ok
very early
nope...tues night...same line then hit branson, mo..and then that town in ill that lost 7 people
definitely too early, west
good thing you all have a basement
harrisburg, IL? almost clear to tennessee, we're upper central IL
and a wx. radio...those people in illinois were hit at about 5 minutes to 5 in the am...probably not watching tv or listening to the radio
definitely most were sleeping... that's always the bad time
my daughter is in illinois...in galesburg..how far away from there is that?
but we get our share around here, too, town about 10 miles away was hit hard a few years back. I hate tornado season
ditto that rb
things can explode so fast here...almost have to have one
galesburg is pretty far north of St. Louis, Harrisburg is SE of St. Louis
falling asleep here, be back in the morning - sounds like a frightening time there, take care people
we're due to get more on Fri, they say
not sure what a wx. radio is
ok...thanks..haven't been keeping up with the news and haven't talked to her since sunday
weather radio....if nat. weather service puts out a warning...the radio sounds an alarm
wiped out some of Branson, Mo, the big old tourist trap.
yikes
ni4 flosey
aww where do you find them?
oh, like a NOAA radio?
good night flosey sleep well
i know radio shack sells them here...sure you can find them online too
you can plug in which counties you want the alarms to sound for
have to check at our radio shack great idea

ta 5 is a stupid word
thanks dart!!!!!
fireworks
WTG VASH!!!!!
wtg vash!!!
yw vash....volley..i think you have a few other things on your mind with the house stuff, understandable
any clues for the 8s please
ca 8...what you have when you are shopping at a big sale in a store
I think so, too, plus tonight we received an email "checking in" from the realtor we used last year... we knew it was coming, but had to think how to respond and tell her we weren't using her for a second year
good luck on the house dee
un 8 ...not off kilter...or a pinball machine that you are still playing on
ty so much vash
i have an early morning tomorrow....good night
nite vash, sleep well
gn sleep well
that is always hard...we had at least 3 friends that are realtors...that knew we were moving...all wanted to sell our house...but wife's company picked the agant...in case they had to buy it
ni4 vash
agent
wow got you off the hook; that had to be a relief
company had a list for us to choose from...they had to be in the top so many percent of sales in the area just to make the list (none of our friends were even close to being on that list)
got the 8s at last, thanks
wtg jen
that totally makes sense; and it prevented probs with your friends .... very, very fortunate. This switch will have repercussions... just hope they aren't too huge. We haven't he5 a peep from her since the end of Oct... now all of a sudden she contacted us... we wonder if she he5 a rumor that we had made an offer on a property.... timing just seems iffy
lot of times they have extensive contacts.....he4 things thru the grapevine
I think that may be what happened, plus this is a small town with small town gossip
fireworks ty so very much... I would never have finished tonight w/o your help...
wtg volley
Tomorrow is inspection. We get to be there, so I can do some measuring... still feels surreal, so maybe not so much after that.
WTG DEE!!!! right behind you with 3 to go
ty dart and yay granny!!!
that was the part we missed...our agent went with the inspector for us....since we were so far away
that was fantastic! Most of the realtors here refuse to do that (perhaps a liability issue).
been working on this grid but came up in time to say yay and almost yay to dee and rose.
LOL, ty west.
West, I just saw that your mom is ill. When did that happen?
gran...are the letters left for you...the ones we already listed?
from what you've said dee the inspector should give the house a perfect rating
It will be interesting. He is an amazing inspector, and hubby really respects him. We don't expect much, but we know he has to find something. It will be interesting what he comes up with.
brb forgot to put list in my profile.
just yesterday dee..she was at the docs on Fri but he ordered an xray and sent her home with some antibiotics
and done, thanx dart
Yay rose !!
wtg gran
Now it's in my profile, so dart doesn't have to do so much work.
Do they think she has pneumonia?
thank you so much dee !!
glad you know how to do that volley.....
yay, Dee and g'rose!!! :)
LOL dart, glad you know how to finish the grid LOLL
might have finished earlier if i had babbled ALL the letters. ;(
no..she apparently does not have fluid in her lung..they think it's something outside that's causing her to have trouble breathing
yw west, least I can do
maybe pleurisy
I'm more worried that she'll pick up something in the hospital
Isn't that the truth. I almost hate visiting folks in the hospital.
haven't used a list for a few months now...just nice to have one on the days i travel in case i get stuck....did that 300 + grid the other day in about 3 hrs
I'll be sure to sit next to you on the next plane ride dart lol
That was really amazing, dart. I am jealous that you can do it so quickly.
had a review with my cardiologist on tuesday.
morewords gets a workout down the stretch
Hospitals don't seem to be cleaned like they used to. When I had surgeries and when our daughter was born, there was always someone around cleaning.... sure don't see that any more.
How did that go granny?
did he say you have a big beautiful heart rose?
all good, except for when i go in for my total knee replacement....he wants me on 48 hours cardiac monitoring.
I love morewords.
awwww westy, what a lovely thing to say
you want to pick up something...go to a hospital
last time she was in she picked up the dreaded c-dif and had it for months
well rose, it's true !!
really disgusting what you do pick up there
and now they are saying she's a carrier even though she hasn't had it for months
i have to let you all know, i had a strange episode last week, apparently became very confused, and himself said i didn't know him. maybe a little TIA. having carotid doppler done next tuesday.....will let you know if they find a brain
sure they will
westy, that could be true, mother mac no longer has MRSA in her lungs, but she is a carrier.
and you're brave too !!
my dad had tia's for many years... odd experience for him... I am sure your hubby will be glad they are checking everything out
* shrugs * a little scared i guess.
Was it in the evening, rose?
yes, dee
once when we were first married I woke up, looked at my husband and said 'what is your name?' he said Jon and I said 'Jon who?'
lol, westy
the next night he wore his ID badge to bed lol
maybe overtired or blood sugar was whacky at the end of the day
rofl
lol westy
hmmm, good point, dee.
I think the doc will recommend another cruise rose
I know blood sugar swings can do that
ooooohhhh, like that diagnosis even better, westy
I vote for another cruise
i did get a rather stern telling off, for taking care of everyone else, and not myself....
I asked my rheumatologist if he would write a prescription for a pool, and he just laughed.
do you have the space to put one in at the new house dee?
dee, when he stops laughing, tell him i want a prescription for a pool, too. he might bulk bill us...lol
hi ev1 is the first 8 ca?
hi van yes it is
hey vanilla
ty been trying that and havent found it yet
compound word
LOL sounds like a good idea granny. I'm not sure west. The back of the house faces a pond. There is probably room, but I think we are going to just get a hot tub, instead. Hubby isn't keen on all the work involved with a pool, so we are thinking we won't do that... but we'll see after we have been there awhile and after this stupid house sells
a hot tub sounds like just the ticket
Might actually be more helpful; warm water; can use it more months than a pool...
pools are a lot of work..unless you have cabana boys
you can go into the tub during the winter....and then jump and roll in the snow...and hop back in the tub
LOL...
There you go... probably without the rolling in the snow.
it's after 8pm here. i have a few pastoral care issues to attend to. so, my de4 friends, see you at the flip.
people in saunas do that all of the time
Haven't had enough snow this winter to roll in it ever.
would have to be puss something then?
night gran
see you granny; take care of yourself
bye rose..you take care of yourself !!
i sense a snapping coming up
no not puss..donkey vehicle
tyvm
lol dart and snap dee !!
We have been talking about storms here, too... thinking this might be a bad year with all of this goofy weather... had our air on for a bit this afternoon while we were packing.
snap west
crazy crazy weather all over
van...ca 8...what you have to push around if you go shopping at a big sale
be 72 here thursday...then high of 45 on friday
snow and sleet here though not much
waiting for the big blizzard to come in May
really strange... was high 60's here today and supposed to be freezing tonight... wonder if this is a cycle or if next winter will be the same
probably will west
I wish you perfect weather when you move dee
i'm enjoying this one...after our super hot summer in '11...and 52 years of ,for the most part, cold as hell and snowy winters in MN
there's nothing colder than winters in MN
ty vm; just pray for a quick buyer when we get the sign in the yard :)
I bet you are, dart.... a really nice change for you.
could actually get used to it :)
to put your house up and not have to keep it in showing mode will be such a treat dee
are you going to show it empty....or have someone stage it
West, you totally get it!!! Well, we staged the heck out of it last year, and it didn't sell, so as of today, I think we will show empty.... that may be subject to change, but at this point, I am sick of the whole process....
The rooms will look huge. I used to gripe about storage, but as we are clearing out closets, I am seeing just how huge they are (even compared to the new one)...
we didn't put ours up for sale until everything was moved out...then i stayed and painted a few rooms and got some new carpeting etc done
Did you stage or show empty?
curb appeal helps too
empty
curb appeal is huge...if they drive up and don't like the appearance...it is an uphill battle
I think that is probably what we will do... I can't decide if I am going to have carpets cleaned for the umpteenth time or not...
We have been told our curb appeal is strong.
and that river is such a plus too
Exterior is in great condition; I don't know about flowers this year though with the goofy weather. Plus and a minus... we are really going to miss the setting, but some folks don't like it at all. If they like nature, they will love it here.
the perfect family will see it and want to buy it
Sure wondering where they are, west...
Keep thinking that we just found our perfect house, so maybe it will sell quickly...
Spring will bring out the buyers
I really don't want my hubby to have to stress over 2 properties, so praying that it goes right away... he would be so happy.
repainted all of the trim and garage door....had some gold metal lights and house numbers, spray painted them black and they looked great....took some white touch up paint to some of the window parts that were hard to clean...seal-coated the driveway.
Would confirm to him that we made the right choices :)
I'm sure you did dee..this new house sounds perfect
The only thing he didn't do was touch up some of the windows... have "encouraged" that, but not sure I can talk him into a paintbrush...he hates tedious painting...
The other day, hubby said, "If I sat down and drew our perfect house, it would be almost identical to this one." It was odd when we walked in the front door - first time we actually felt like this was our home... I have heard others say that, but it had not happened to both of us before now.
our agent even had us power-washing the overhang etc...said to imagine you were the buyer and told us to look at everything they would see when they got out of the car and walked up to the house...and the stuff they would see right away when they came through the front door
that's so true dart
Definitely agree with that. First impressions are critical.
we changed the light fixture the hung over the informal table..you could see that right away when you came in
our realtor said windows must sparkle inside and out..we hired someone..we had 47 windows in that house
Do you feel like you got your money back for all of that?
was he talking about your present house...or the new one?
We may need to do the windows again...
The new one
winter is hard on windows
I really don't want to put one more dime in this one.. it's old.. It's in great shape, but it's old...
good morning
but it has been taken care of and that counts
hi ruby
good morning ruby
hey ruby!! Thanks to dart, there is a list in my profile.
I think we "over took care of it"... put too much money in it, and won't recoup it. Fine line between good maintenance and improvements, and spending silly money.
but that was for your pleasure so not so silly
how old is the house?
we were kind of stuck for pricing the home...since we were in the buyout program, we had to go with their numbers...if we thought we could get more...we didn't have to use their program...so don't know if we got our money out or not...it did sell quick
it is nice to see you all and interesting, this talk of houses
Hubby built it in 1979. New mechanicals, roof, stove top, double ovens, microwave, flooring within last 8 years.
It sure did, dart. I think you did really well.
that doesn't sound old to me..our house was built in 1901
the touch up paint and spray paint was cheap...and made a huge difference....I guess i just wanted it to look good when we left it. Spent 4 days scrubbing and refinishing the deck which the agent said we didn't have to do, but when he saw the results he was glad I did it.
lol lots of character...
Wonder how many hours of labor you put in getting everything spic and span
1901...wow.....last house was 1988..this one 2004 lol
our house looked really awful when we bought it -- no landscaping, dingy inside and out. We did a huge amount of remodelling, but now, after these 15 or 16 years (can't remember), it is starting to look shabby inside
but the garden is wonderful!
but will never sell
was there for about 3 weeks doing that stuff...probably 8-10 hrs a day
sure is ruby thanks to you
<-- too old
they'll have to carry me out!
LOL ruby
the house we're in now ..1950 but we're slowly remodeling
if anybody ever wants help with garden design, I'd love to help
Never ending with a house... always something you want to do or have to do...
we did the remodeling before we left Miami
such a beautiful location too ruby
with dogs and rough housekeepers all these years, the wall papers have taken a real beating
Where are you now, ruby?
no kidding..came home from shopping on Sat and found water in the basement
I am lucky to have found this place when we did, when the dollar was still worth something
it would be out of reach now.
ice maker on fridge sprung a leak
Yuk on that west! Any damage?
dee: we are near to Annecy in the French Alps, between the cliffs and the lake
think it is time for bed...night all..good luck volley
good night, dart
sleep well dart and thanks for the help
annecy is where the tour de france rode around the lake a few years back?
no just wet laundry
our appliances are all finicky and not even that old
luckily it had just started
yes, there was a time trial here and also, one year, they road right past our garden and I put all kinds of signs on the hedge and a bicycle on the lawn
ty all... need to get going, too... busy day tomorrow. Hugs to all!!! *poof*
it is a splendid little backwater, our village
{{dee}}
very pretty area........i'm off pooof
good night and good luck with the inspection ((dee))
see you at the flip
ruby how is burt ?
no better, but he's doing a little bit more
so sorry to hear that
the good news is that I am forced to be more active, getting my lazy butt off the couch
are you still trudging up the stairs with trays?
only his breakfast, he comes down for cocktails, lunch and dinner
that's good
and when he canceled his "kine" appointment, I went for a massage in his stead
good idea !
he wanted to pay for it; I thought that was stupid
it wasn't anything special, but what the heck
nice and relaxing?
yes, and my back is always sore anyway, so I am going again today
it's nearby and very inexpensive
handsome swede with huge muscles?
no, hahah, little Fr woman
beat
I can dream
whoops, sorry
had that one lol
<-- bad multi-tasker
Morning all....clues for the 2 x 8's please?

I'd rather oush!
thought that was a Scottish term lol
tired but not too bad.how are you today?
trolley????
chariot (what the Fr call it)
no, think of wooden vehicle
sigh... just caught our son ripping off money from hubby - had a nice scene.
something a donkey might pull
is a be5/16 let what you'd find in an iris?
when you have tuns of stuff you have a ca8
{{rbud}}
oh rbud not good
got it!
hi rbud...not good!!
that kid ain't right. think he's on some pills from some new folks in town. probably wants more, thus the money.
uh oh, himself is making his own Campari....see you later
rbud: I'll pur you one, I think you could use it!
good luck with that, ruby! :\
and yes ruby on the be
bfn ruby
oh, I'm sure I could, thanks! :D
and the other one lillian???
ty, west!
i don't have that one yet flask
that un would be not straightened
the other 8? it's un8, not leaning to one side
bet somebody has and they're not telling us....hee-hee!
ty west and rbud
think Tommy
cat is out of the bag now, lol!
pin ball
Tommy who????
lol
the pinball wizard
flask look at the clues at 4.06 just before you spoke
ty you, got the 8, will tackle the rest later
now trying to figure out where to hide the rest of the money, since hubby turned it over to me now to caretake.
as son took it right out of his pocket without waking him, guess I'd better be devious myself
what about your knicker draw rbud?
not getting it lilliann
blimey, he's a good pick pocket!!
oh, too easy, he knows I'm fond of hiding things in my dresser and other drawers. think I'll put it under the mattress and sleep right on it. :)
when you push something to one side you do this flask, after the un that is
keep on your person.....
well, hubby was a bit tipsy, as usual.
I don't drink, so I'm a bit more on top of things.
put it inside a curtain rod
oooh, I like that!
but need bigger ones for that.
that'sa good idea west
drapery rod with the ends that come off
I just want to put it in the bank, but hubby doesn't want them knowing he has it. he's one of those who would rather bury his cash in the woods than let the government know about it.
don't trust banks much any more
how about a steel box you can lock
my great nan was like that...she had money under the floor boards and under the mattress
afraid it will affect his disability. he got a small inheritance and is carrying a bunch around.
kid would take off with the box! :P
yeah probably right
so he's just helping himself to his inheritance a little early?
need a floor safe set in the concrete out in his shop, I told him, but he put in in-floor heating coils, so can't poke a hole in it.
oh, the kid? he's not getting our money, lol, we plan to spend it all! he needs to get a job, the shiftless lout.
is he the one who had the really bad headaches a while ago?
hard even for a mother to love these days. he's stolen our money, takes our cars (no license, lost that), steals stuff he can sell - we'd throw him out but we fear that would just set him off, be a real challenge to him.
yep, that's him. no more headaches, just for us, not him, lol!
we had him arrested and they made a deal with him and had him back home within a couple of hours, sigh...
he needs a good woman to straighten him out..and I don't mean his mother
how old is he ?
he's due for a little jail time coming up soon, I think that's partly why he cares so little about what happens at the moment.
he's 20.
we had a 20 year old son once..I feel your pain
can't tell him anything, he knows it all, he insists. and we're idiots.
now he's 40, has a wife and 2 kids and is just the best thing
that
perhaps that would make him grow up and reassess his life and do something worthwhile with it rbud
that's what I keep hoping, that he'll come out of it someday, and not be in jail for life when he realizes.
i'm sorry to hear about all the crap he's putting you and hubby through
just hope he lives to grow up, sigh.
you hang in there it is going to get better
yeah, it's hard on our relationship, hubby says I coddle him, and it's my fault he's like he is, I see him as having very low self-esteem from a lifetime of his dad picking on him and criticizing, not sure whose fault it is. don't really think it's anyone's, lots of kids in this town are like him.
only he can make that decision tbud.at the end of the day, as parents we try our best at bringing our children up the right way, once they get to adult hood all we can do is hope they will make all the right decisions
jobless, no license, no future plans, taking drugs - the town is full of them.
the problem is, we can't live their lives for them! i'm sure everything will work out in the long run
true lillian.....!
kids all have it hard these days
yes, I agree, lillian, just wish it wasn't making it so hard for the two of us to get along.
in some ways i think they do west but in other ways, i think kids have it easy
hubby was recently officially diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and is having a hard time - already depressed about it and now this with our kid, it's making him not a happy fellow (like he used to be)
hard for me to figure out how to deal with it all.
you come here and talk to friends rbud
ah, my babble support group! :)
that's us
sorry to hear about your husband rbud.it's got to be tough for him and you.
on a happier note lilli our granddaughter (age 24 ) and her girlfriend will be visiting Scotland at the end of March..she's dreamed of going forever
ahh, lovely west.are they going on a coach trip?
don't know much about the trip but I do know they will be in Aberdeen
thanks, lil. I'm an optimist, I just keep hanging in there hoping for the best for all.
She'll love it Westford!
and wow, would love to see Scotland, too!
and they'll be visiting Loch Ness and seeing the ruins of her dad's family castle
you'll all get through it rbud and as west says, you have us here
Yes. Its a wonderful place to live!......
she's an Urquhart
cool, west
Hubby's ancestors came from Scotland, the family even knows which tartan they should wear.
Of course, Castle Urquhart!
she's one of the young people I was talking about..graduated from college and is working at a doggy day care
oh flask, i found out the day my great grandmother was a mcgregor and we have our own tartan. will have to look and see what it is
rbud maybe you and hubby should take a trip to the old homeland
its horrible!!!.....lolol
we'd love to, and he's always wanted to see Rome, too. One of these days.
my hubby will be driving around scotland at the end of march with american tourists
pfffttt flask!!
we have a street not far from us..Alexander MacGregor Road lol
hee=hee................I think it might be dark green actually!
I'll have to ask Cassie if they're planning a coach trip
sounds like the way to go
that's weird west as my greatgrandmother became an alexander when she got married
small world
Hubby's great grandfather was named Alexander Thompson, heehee!
it's red and a yucky green colour flask
My brother married a Scottish girl, she's a sweetheart. Love her accent, though it's hard to understand when she's talking fast.
flask's grandson is named alexander
that's a fine strong name
i can understand flask but my daughter hates talking to her on the phone, she gets me to interpret!!lol
she calls our mom "Mum", which tickles mom no end. the other day on the phone she said she hadn't seen us in donkey's, I guess that's a long time? :)
aye, it is rbud
my bairn says mam
Goog morning all

When does Bea*le get to be a word?
its not!
I know, but it should be.
Its a proper word!
So was romano yesterday. I'm just sayin'.
yes I know, sorry Kaplan....I agree 100% with you!
the words that are allowed or not can be ridiculous at times!
:)
Other than the obligatory discussion of the unfairness of Enable, how is everybody?
doing well, kap.... and you?
Waking up.
Funny dreams, like that I forgot all my clients on Thursday and just didn't show up.
dagwood sandwich before bed?
what do you do Kap?
You mean when I work?
The shot answer is psychotherapy. Or something approximating same.
I work with a lot of young people with addictions problems. Which almost always is a symptom of something else. And assorted other people who have various problems in living that they waant to sort out. And art.
I see people in three settings depending on the day, which is why I sometimes get anxious about not remembering where to be. Schedule keeps changing.
maybe they are trying to lose you, kap - lol
Gee, thanks.
just kidding of course
Of course.
that's how I feel at work though... one of our QI committees meets somewhere different every time, and they give these room numbers like we should know what the heck they are talking about... LB 12.... ended up 15 minutes late to that mtg

Hi All
hi hego
Hi Lill
kind of a challenging grid
Sorry to hear that.
I'm still dizzy from yesterday.
:)
It seems grids with b in them are always difficult.
hmm, hadn't noticed. i think lack of S is also a factor.
also grids with a, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, and z
lol
lol
Hi Sue. lol
and hi, hurshy and hego!
Yes, no s.
if you can behead someone, surely you can behe5 them. didn't we see it done in 'temple of doom' ?
oh no he TRIED but didn't FINISH. still.
and I am bemoaning the absence of outlot and outie...
Does anyone know the keys you need to push to search for someone in archives?

i was just saying that because i haven'tgot a clue what day it is! :)yes, and he wasn't very old either.i use to love the monkeys!
Just saw the Monkees last summer for their 45th reunion tour. :( Morning all.
It makes one feel old when their childhood idols start passing.
it was like last week when whitney died and people on here were talking about her and her songs and i still hadm'trealized she had died until a couple of days later when it was the news!!
Very true Molly. Davy lived in PA during the summer months and FL in the winter.
hi judy. was it a good concert?
hi Judy
it certainly does molly
Excellent concert, but then I am a HUGE Monkees fan. Never saw them in their "heyday" but went to see them numerous times. Saw Davy a few times on his own. He came to our local fair a few times.
Hi to all.
ah, lovely jusy
Had one wall in my bedroom entirely plastered with pictures of the Monkees taken from the teen magazines. And I shared the room with my grandmother!
:)
bbl
sounds like you had a nice tolerant grandmother
gm everyone. What is wrong with this grid? 205 words and I'm struggling at 58 words down
it is a bit stinky

ttfn all!
YAY for Crossy. That was a tough one this time. I really didn't think I'd finish.
was very tough.seemed to be harder than normal to send crystal to friends this time around
hope they give us a break before the next one. it is exhausting trying to send/receive the crystals. Should be a better system.
ty hursh
tc
better system indeed
now i am 2 behind on the normal levels:((
lol. btw, I wrote to Playdom about the damn crystals. Wrote back with the same crap that is listed in the help section.
mmm, nothing more irritating than canned macro responses
Do you know how long it is between requests that we can send again? I was actually able to send 3 requests to Rose within minutes. Can't figure it out.
hello everyone :)
i cannot figure it out either, some took me 2 days to send to,and others i was able to do what you did and send twice or 3 times a day
howdy cybernan
Morning, Nan.
Hi all. back for a few.
welcome back Hego
i was lucky to get 8 crystals a day in total judy, the rest i earned by repeating the levels themselves and hoping a crystal would pop up.that is how i got my last ten crystals

oh right....thanx!
Nan, right now I have 3 co's but I haven't listed yet.

I have ci4,ci4,ci5,co4,co6,co5co4 so far nan
have co 4 and 6 -- what am I missing, please?
Another 4 and 5 if they are co words
nm - found it
oops - can't read -- thought there were 10 c words but see now there are 18!

it was an old game played on a tv -- something like itellivision I think
ca5, 4, 6, 7, 4, 5, 6, 6, 8, 4, 6
*intellivision
don't remember playing any games on tv
crossy remembers the old intellivisions and pong machines:)
missing the 5 before the ace of spades and the 6, 7 after
found the 5
crossy can still hear in his head the sound of a 4 1/2 floppy disk coming up to speed in a old comadore 64:)
was that what the itari was associated with? - couldn't remember, but we did have a comodore64
i am not sure if atari was ascociated with c-64.can no longer remember

but i vividly remember the first pong/tennis machines
hello everybody I wonder if the ri7/32 has been clued
howdy nono

Hi NN and Van
Crossy you had a comadore, I had a TI99/4A
very nice nono:)
my brother had one of the early tandy computers, but i could not abide those tiny green screens
those machines were definitely slow by todays standards but were a lot of fun
nevermind all the endless lines of code..gates earned his money in the early days of windows!

add a couple of vowels to the A of spades
np vanillia
I had to learn basic to use the first computer we had -- it was a vic20
twas in the morewords list after all
i also remember the vics:))
I used to get a magazine that had programs for all of the old computers
oops had that one, ty nono - it's the 5 I'm missing (2nd one) -- probably need to add something to the ace
my problem was i was still a pinball wizard in 78-85:)
when in HS, son had a vic20, then Commodore 64, then on and on - his last accomplishment in college was to build a computer and explain why it did, or didn't work, his did
no nan add a vowel to the horse buggy

Hi, sue
John, Paul, George, or Ringo is in the grid...not sure which one :)
it is now time for crossy,s quote of the day!!
The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man. Nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall; nations perish; civilization grow old and die out; new races build others. But in the world of books are volumes that have seen this happen again and again and yet live on. Still young, still as fresh as the day they were written, still telling men’s hearts, of the hearts of men centuries dead. - Clarence Day
Nice, crossy!
I had thought of ea7 as being the British way of saying what you do to your electric circuits so you don't get electrocuted (but then I would, wouldn't I?)
and great quote, crossy! I am looking forward to doing a lot of reading after I retire.
dr seuss couldnt have said it better crossy
Just finished, are you all still in need of a list?

does anyone know what will remove pencil marks from upholstery?
ooh, sorry.. I know I still have the pencil mark in my thumb from where I stabbed myself as a child.. don't know what will dissolve the graphite mark
maybe one of those squooshy art erasers?
... going to check the bottle of goo be gone
tried an eraser and woolite oxy-out -- neither worked
I have one in my thigh Aloy...imagine that lol
son in law uses peroxide to get blood out of upholstery....
will try that -- the woolite does get blood stains out of fabric, but not graphite
peroxide would't work on graphite, there's nothing to oxidize

use an eraser myself:))) lol

ty molly will do that before I go shopping
I got one of those erasers meant to remove marks from linen matts, but that didn't work
will have to be drycleaned out somehow.if you add moisture it will just bleed
maybe have a school teacher correct your apolstery
will have to come back for the last 50 later. Must do some baking and see what I can find out about removing pencil marks :(
we are lucky,we still have child rearing furniture, not only would we not notice a pencil mark.but a small fire may do a few improvements

There are a lot of them -- friend's grandchild got busy while nobody was paying attention to her.

aye, we're good friends and it's just good banter, but boy can she be a pain in the bum...lol she'll kill me if she reads this..llol
okay, i'll pop back in after i check my email...oh, i knew you two were just playing.
i got reprimanded for kidding with a friend.
here in the chog?
Someone took it seriously.
yes
what, here hego?
people don't realize you might know each other.
Two dimensional conversation can be difficult that way
i try not to get too involved when it appears two people are chatting. can get sticky if you don't really know what's going on.
well, i must admit, no-one but lbd spoke to us whilst we were having fun! ty lbd
it depends on the conversation.....
it was a busy chat that day too.
well, i think i know you and flask pretty well, and neither of you would be mean to each other or anyone else, except in fun
and kind of an in joke.
ahh, those inside jokes can definitely get misinterpretted
I'll get over it.
no, we were just mucking about...we're like that most of the time with eachother and others who understand out humour
hi folks, could use some help with 7;s. I have de, ea,unx2
And my friend wasn't offended.
lil, do you know flask outside of babble?
Hi Peri
aye, sometimes in jokes don't go down well with others as they don't realize or understand
Evening Babblers, this one's a bit of a struggle. . .
Hi Focal
Hey hego
Ho ya doing?
we do now peri. we met on here and have met up a few times and text, email eachother alot and send cards and presents to eachothers families
and hi peri
hi focal
that's so nice, Lill.
she is al ovely lay
ai7, ca7, de7x2, ea7, he7 x2, ou7, ri7, tr7, un7x2
hi focal
OH.my!
I think Lill meant lady
lol
Oh, hello newcomers!
Glad Ruru didn't see that. lol
Hi Jellen
ty lbd, will look
lol, hego!
Oh man!! Every time I sit down to do a bit of Babbling my 11 year old comes over with something that urgently needs my attention. I'm back now, Hi LB, Lilli and all the rest. Lovely evening!
omg...yes, i meant lovely lady...lol
: )
hi jellen
The ou 7 is silly, in my opinion.
agree
have not found that one yet,Jellen
I just got it by accident, and I agree it's a silly one!
clue pls
Look for a silly compound, peri
I am looking
got it, yes silly indeed
ty
stuck with 80 left
not seeing the other 7's either
Relax Peri, I'm stuck with 149 left!!
this isn't a very nice grid peri!
carted
no it is not
I am following VolleymomDee's list, or I wouldn't be far along...
Carted off to the loony bin. . . that's me!
golly, it's awful.
guess no lickety then
poor focal
no Peri
no peri
ok
Come visit me folks, at the home for the Terminally Babbled!!
can i have a clue for the ri7 please
I can finish with other lists just takes so much longer
Is that where you moved to/
doesn't it just peri
like the rice dish
different third letter.
the ri7, that is.
Thanks, hego
Good clue hego, thanks.
yw, that one is the clue of the day.
mmm...thinking...i had rice tonight and it was egg fried....my mind has gone blank!!
great clue and new word for me
you may think the ou's are silly -- the un's are worse
help with either he7 pls
ri7 is a public ball or dance with music and often in masquerade, popular in the 18th century.
an extension of he5,12
pt of beating organ
most words that start with non or un are pretty silly
he4 above it plus nervous twitch
peri, one is pt of a 5
and he7/44 sounds like someone who can't eat sugar
broken he7
*Smacks head for not remembering going to those 18th century balls*
got pt he7 ty
was never much into those silly public dances.
Hey Molly, love the icon - is it especially for the month of March?
hi Molly
yeah, Molly. how could you forget?
I also love molly's celtic shamrock.
sorry lbd, i'm not getting the ball either
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help, folks :)
my brain has gone to mush on this grid!!
not getting the he7/44
Yay, nan!
yay!! wtg nan!
nm got it, ty hego
ri7 is ri + polka ***s + ** and fro
ri 7= Get ri* of + **** Preminger
ri 7: eliminate von Bismark
help with ca7 pls
he and dia***** have high or low blood sugar levels
It's raining clues again : )
ca7= auto + personal pronoun + Spanish cheer
they're so good
ty Jellen
ca with an eye in the actor's part
ty molly and jellen, apart from i don't know preminger?
ty Jellen and nan
eliminate bismark
need a break,bbs
**** Preminger was a film director
ttfn Peri
the rice dish has another letter....forget that, i've just read back anfdhego said that...sorry hego...chat went a bit quick and thanks all for the clues
bye peri
oh ok, ty molly
np Lill

You know what hego, I'm going to do the same. Night all, Slán :)
Bye, nan and hego
Bye Focal
night hego and focal.tc
night hego, focal and nan
It must be apple pie week. I made one the other night.
i made a rustic apple tart for tonight's dessert
Ooo, that sounds good LBD
it's easier than a pie. :-)
i'm not a pudding person, especially sickly ones and i don't eat chocolate but i do like apple pie and apple or rhubabrb crumble
what makes it rustic lbd
i'm not a big pie eater. usually soggy crusts or not enough filling
no pie pan, just the crust on a cookie sheet, put apples or whatever fruit in the middle, fold up the sides and bake.
if i make a sweet or savoury pie i allways make thin pastry and loads of filling...normally a savoury pie i just like a puff pastry top
what do you put in a savoury pie?
oh, so is the middle uncovered on the top then?
A savory pie is a meat pie, I think.
i make, savoury mince, mushroom and onion, chicken and leek, chicken and mushroom and steak, mushroom and onion or steak, kidney and mushroom
My mouth is watering Lill & Dawg. Morning all
oh and bacon, cheese and onion, that one is all shortcrust pastry
I have a great recipe for Canadian meat pies. Lots of good seasonings.
hi and nbt
morning lyn
hi Josh
in my steak and mince ones i always put some marmite in.
hi josh
<---Can't hang with marmite
when you get a minute molly, could you put it on your profile as i would like to try it
marmite is a love or hate thing...my daughter and i love it and my husband hates it but he'll eat it when it's cooked in things...i don't like bovril or vegemite though
similarly, I hate vegemite however I used to put a touch in blander hot dished - good seasoning
morning, Lynxxx
Hi josh and lyn
Posted the recipe Lilliann
as for the tart, no lid on it. it's like the apple pie without a pan, and limited juice. mostly just fruit.
and hi Josh
hi Jellen
tyvm molly.will copy it in a minute.
sounds nice lbd
i hate shop bought pies as there is so much pastry and not enough filling...i always put loads of filling in...it's like a sandwich...if i'm eating one i want to taste the filling, not just the bread!
there's a meat pie called a pasty here. Irish i think, but mostly here we call it butte food. (butte as in montana mining town.) the pasty is like a meat pie but in a totable form.
we have pasty's here...they are called cornish pasties as that's where they originate from...they have mince lamb, potato, swede, carrot and onion
best description would be like a pocket pie or calzone that isn't italian! lol
yes, i bet that's where these pasties originated from.
Is the last ti 5/12 a fish?
cornish pasties are crescent shaped
spelled like absolute state of mess, fi***
rhymes with dirty as in fi***y, dirty
yup, these are crescent shaped too.
Ah, thanks!
I think pasties were created so miners could easily carry them down into the mines. A family favourite here and I make regularly
probably the same things then lbd
yup, that's what i'm thinking. and all this time the buttians claimed it as theirs! lol
buttians?
Clue for ithe7/44? Can't find
i don't eat them anymore as my sister-in-law gave us food poisioning once when she made them...put me off them
people from butte, montana...butte-ites, buttians...
Sorry, he/7
build on he4.7 (plant) and add nasty blood sucking insect
he7= he
sorry
he + people who have blood sugar issues are dia*****
HE7/44
ugh, food poisoning can do that. I don't eat creamed salads for that very reason. anything with mayo, that i didn't make doesn't get eaten by me.
10 left..all un's...
well, i better go see if my pork chops are thawed enough for tonight's dinner. bbl tonight.
aye mayo can be a funny thing!
by Dawg
later, lbd
go Jellen!

Bye lilliann...
Gotta go - BBL
Hi and bye Lynn. Have a good day.
Bye, lyn
Anyone need a clue or hi4?
<--Had a mad crush on Richard Thomas once upon a time
Yay! I am not alone!
You have to excuse Soodle, Jellen. She says hi, pounds a few shots of Irish and passes out at her computer.
Bobby Sherman was my dream guy..
Oh I crushed on Bobby Sherman for a while too. Julie, Julie, Julie do ya love me?
And Davy Jones, although I was almost his height by sixth grade...
bbiab
I have returned...
I just wish life was like that Molls.... My phone needs to be recharged about 3 times a day, with all the inter-family calls... Sheesh.... family matters interfering with Babbling. Its just not right!!
Hmm...no Irish in the house. Scotch, yes. Bourbon, yes.
I agree Soods
need the last un 6/24?
2nd to last
un + knotted
how bout the one before that?
un + I just did a **** of laundry
Jell... St Patricks Day is just around the corner... get out and get yourself some Irish....QUICK Lol
ty Jellen!
Will do, Soodle!
hi again all! back from class...
Whats the 'savoury' in Moll's recipe?
wb, sue
Savory...no U...it's a seasoning
I never heard of it, Molly, but that doesn't mean its not sold under a different name here. I wonder what it is?
it's an herb - maybe summer savoury?
Yep, it's an herb, like basil, oregano, etc.
Latin name Satureja hortensis
Very few dishes are prepared Chez Soodle without Oregano. I go through buckets of the stuff.
Here's some information with a picture of the plant: http://www.uni-graz.at/~katzer/engl/Sa tu_hor.html
The BBC has recipes involving savory on it's web site, so it has to be available in the UK.
Thank you Ladies. Once again, I am marvelling at the wonders of Babble, and the things learned here. I am going to treat my family to Canadian Meat Pies tomorrow. Stand by for comments..........
On a different note, the past week here has seen clear blue skies, balmy spring warmth, newborn lambs frolicing, daffodils dancing, and all in all, a truly beautiful Spring experience.
ah - and here we are supposed to get snow tomorrow night :-(
<---Wonders about an Irish woman who cooks with buckets of oregano
Snow...Yuk. We have been blessed with a really mild winter this year, thank goodness. But this week has just been spectacular.
Yes, that needs 'splaining'
Daffodils and crocus up here. The Earth is being turned in The Garden Of Molly. A corn dolly will be planted closer to when the plants go in.
Molly, where are you located. We have no such flowers in CT
our winter has been quite mild too, relatively speaking, but we are still in the thick of it
Maryland Bich.
Love of oregano probably dates back to a holiday in Mykonos in Greece, with a chap with whom I was madly in love. Sadly, neither of us were sophisticated enough to try the proper Greek food, and lived on oregano-sprinkled pizzas for a fortnight. (Probably too much info for Babble, but there your go!!)
No, TMI is people posting about Babbling on the toilet. Your story was just fine.
Ah, MD, the semi-south. Am watching the show [TV form the 90's] "Homicide: Life on the Streets"
Takes place in Baltimore
LOL. Mercifully, I have been spared the 'Babbling on the Toilet' stories. Thank you God.
Bich... I am a huge fan of TV from the 90's.
I'm getting this from Netflix. It's a well-cast, well-acted story.
Maryland is on the Mason-Dixon line. So depending on how your loyalties lie, you can be a Yankee or a Reb. I am more the genteel Southern woman type.
I'm New Yorkish transplanted to southern NE
My Mother was a New Englander, so I have aspects of that bred into me. I saw Brown Bread in the store the other day for the first time in ages. My Mom loved that stuff.
I have never left my NY origins behind. My accent comes out quite often
I have spoken to several Babblers on the phone. I am always totally blown away by their accents. For some reason, when I communicate in writing with people from the US I totally forget they have different accents to me. Doh!
Molly and I probably sound completely different
I am imagining Molly sounding like Scarlett, and Bich as sounding like Rachel from Friends....
Why dawlin, whatever would make you think such a little ole thing?
Haven't watched Friends, but if she has a Boston accent, I don't sould like that. I'm a mixture between NYC and a non-descript CT accent
I imagine Bich sounding tons better than (ew) Rachel from Friends.
I have left some of the worst of my NY accent behind, but it never leaves completely.
BBL
<-----Sadly, only really knows the accents as portrayed on TV shows and films, like Gone with the Wind, and Cheers, and NYPD blues etc.
Happily, I know an Irish accent because I have actually spoken with people who have them. Thick ones too, I have to concentrate to get every other word.
Molly, reading your post at 5.08, I am imagining you clinging onto the bedpost, getting your corset tied ever tighter!!!!
Ahahahaha, as if I would let someone bind me up in a corset.
As for accents on TV, they can be deceiving. Before I met my husband, I thought everyone in Canada sounded like the McKenzie brothers.
Hanging head in shame... I can't tell the difference between the Canadian and American accent.
Soodle, I think you would understand Canadians better than Americans. For reasons unknown to me, Canadians use all kinds of British phrases. Like "on holiday" and "in hospital"
Oh, and they refer to their Mothers as "Mum".
You know what, Moll? .... Viva La Difference!!
Yes, we are all different, in our own way.
And that was no slur to Canadians, which I would think is obvious, since I married one.
I feel a song coming on..... 'Everyone is bee-yoo-tiffull- in their own way......
hi folks. who has a list pls
Grammar cops: "everyone is beautiful in his or her own way."
Hey Peri. And Pedantic Kap. :-)
No c*rdio?
found a list in bab anon
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't get Enable and abbreviations. Some work, some don't.
What is with pedantic? Is it the word of the day or something?
All are beautiful in their way?
One for all?
Oh, no- Daniel and Nicole???
Sorry- just watching my soap.
<---- floundering.
Fishing?
I made some really good cream of asparagus and ham soup tonight. I wish I could grow the stuff, we love it.
Herring a laugh, Kap.
Tune a piano.
<--- little bit wary of asparagus, and the effects it has on the old corpus delecti....
Effects?
flagrante delicto?
Oh gosh. Searching for a polite way of saying this... No polite way found... It makes one pee stench!
Ever eat beets?
Okay, can't say I have ever noticed that.
Beets are hideous. I would rather starve than eat beets.
Dem's fightin' woids.
I ate shredded beets in a salad and did not notice until someone told me. It was fine. would not have eaten it if I had known beforehand
ar5 pls
No, I did not say anything about people who eat beets. So I don't need the Vive le difference lecture again.
this grid is taking forever
Ditto Peri.
nm
ar + Show And ***l
Beets have feelings too.
had that one but ty Molly
Damn, I forgot the one minute Peri rule.
The Beet Poets, you know.
And the Borscht Belt.
OWWW- PB!!!
Where there is a plate of borscht!
Oops, didn't know which ar5 you meant.
And I have to eat the whole thing and I don't really like it either!
might eat shredded beets again but never borscht!
or pea soup for that matter
Just being around pickled beets gives me the eebie geebies.
I can't believe I avoided PB for one be4 and walked straight in with another.
..........meanwhile, back in the toilet..........
Soodle, are you fixated on your anal stage? Freud would have a field day with that.
His claims were freudulant.
Sorry, that was a slip.
That suggestion should be couched another way !!
Welcome to the parallel universe, Deeha.
Here ego again.
ID like a parallel universe
Come into my world...
Oh to be Jung again
<---Has never thought much about what pee smells like
Id take the chance if it means more asparagus
I love asparagus. Don't eat it much because it's pricey, but it was on sale this week. And seriously, who smells your pee but you anyway?
OK. My job here is done. I have started a conversaton about what pee smells like. I will now bow gracefully out, and retire to bed. Good night all.
Oh right. Just introduce your kinky subject and then wander off to bed.
Hello again...
hello
*Calls Soodle's daughter and tells her to pour water on Mom's wrists tonight*
bbl
Hello, kje!
(Old slumber party myth about how to make someone wet the bed)
Ah, I did wonder, Molly...
how is it going, jellen?
Oh, it's all right...
'Assuming Haughty Air' á la the Dowager Countess.....'Wet the bed????' Isn't that what common people do?
*Has no idea*
*Raises eyebrow at supposedly sleeping Soodle*
Just finished watching an episode of Jeeves & Wooster...
its
Okay, back to "Revenge" now.

The Fry & Laurie version, Jell?
G'night, Deeha
Yes, Soodle...
I've been treating myself to an episode every day or so...
Absolutely classic. Fry and Laurie were BORN to play Jeeves and Wooster! i am in the middle of writing a screenplay of another PG Wodehouse classic - Hot Water. Its going really well.
Wodehouse is so funny! Just my type of humor.
One last remark, before Molly hunts me off to bed...KJE... I love Monk as well! Ok Ok Ok, Molly, I'm gone.............
Whoa, back up the soul train...Soodle writes screenplays for BBC?
Stomach is telling me it's time to eat...BBL
bye soodle
bye jellen
just got home, out again shortly to choir rehearsal, but noticed that I am over half way! Yay!

Babanon, Hoot and Dee. That's all I know about
I found one in babanon
I miss Lickety : (
me too, is everything ok with mrp and lickety?
No clue, I asked about Lickety a while ago and got no response.
that is not good, if things were ok, mrp would have said so
Someone (not a regular) on here said that Lickety was on Xbox every day. That person also said they would message Lickety and let him know he was missed here.
that would be good
back....73 to find.
Go Harry Go
70. off to the list I go.
greetings all
the last FB post Mrp made was on feb 23rd
hope they're ok
hi gwen
Mr P has been here since then, I would guess at least, she is okay. She doesn't say much about Lickety.
ah ur right she was here 2 days ago
i thought they were separated or divorced or both?
Never heard anything about that Gwen. But I'm not a Facebook person.
where did you hear that BDG?
im not working on the grid. just keeping an eye out for clues lol
I was in the chatroom while MrP was describing the fight, but maybe I misunderstood who she was fighting with
Cos, LOVE your icon
ty :)
this grid is serious monkey matter
I never heard of half these words I'm coming up with
Well, blessings to Mr P and Lickety. I'm sad that Lickety isn't around anymore. He is as much a part of our Babble Clan as Mr P is.

hey dan! i tried inbue anyway, you never know with Babble.
true enough, Fran!
don't you hate it when you discover you've been mispronouncing a word for years? have had this problem.
Ohhhh...sorry!
it's especially bad if you go around correcting everyone else.
My attention is divided. I'm watching basketball, and my team is down...
hee hee, i've lost arguments about word pronunciation too, mab!
oh no, Jellen!
There's time for them to come back, though. :)
they need your full attention, Jellen! :-)
