this is one of the toughest for me in weeks
and I am having a hard time focusing... I keep making to do lists in my head LOL
i look forward to finishing it tonight then - off to work now - happy babbling all
yeah, the words just didn't flow well tonight.
have a good day glant
bye glant, go well
tough tough grid mitch didn't even tackle it tonight... said his head wasn't clear enough lol
ummmm, tipsy is the word, i think
have been worried about a friend's dad tonight...
took him in to put in a pacemaker and the idiot doctor nicked his lung
dee?????
lol
2nd xray seemed to indicate it is sealing, but he is in his 80's and certainly didn't need that, plus he had an allergic reaction to the dye
oh, for goodness sake.....and we are about to extend our theatres so we can do cardiac surgery....think it's time to retire ( from the work-force)
relatively simple procedure went haywire because of carelessness
we have had many friends have them inserted with zero problems, so this was just plain stupid and more stupid
are you really considering retiring?
dee???? ultrasound of my thyroid showed 3 x lumps on it....maybe we have just found out why i keep having fevers.
fantastic they finally found it. How will they treat them?
surgery or shrink them
well, dee, sunday is my 60th birthday, and i am a baby boomer baby, pl4 being in my profession, we are allowed to retirer earlier than most of the population.
that would be absolutely fantastic for you (if you are ready)
am waiting for blood results, then will make a decision
Wow, I bet you are thrilled to finally discover the probable cause!
lol, sweetheart, i was ready last year. i'm tired, 42 years of running around just to earn a living, not to mention the emotional and mental stress of the job.
Dan's aunt had thyroid surgery several years ago for a very large mass; she did well and after she healed from the surgery; said she felt like a million bucks... also took them forever to find hers.
It is one of the most stressful professions right now.
42 years is a long time
It's time for you and hubby to relax and have nothing but fun!
if the doctor can fix this problem, i will be able to feel cold again, and no more sweats...
I can relate... have had mine checked several times, too... never have felt cold since our daughter was born... I am always hot.
soon, dee, mother mac still with us. she had her 93rd birthday last month.
amazing
is she pretty healthy
our doctor calls her the phoenix, 'cos she keeps rising from the ashes.
LOL good analogy
How long til you get your blood tests back?
he told me off, 'cos i'm not looking after me...i told him to speak a little louder, and make sure himself could hear what he was saying.
fireworks
yipppppeee anike!!!
Very good suggestion!
TY for your help
next tuesday, dee....doing a couple of special thyroid hormone levels
WTG ANIKE!!!!
yw, anike, and ty, too
glad you don't have to wait too long; that is always the most frustrating part
These tough grids always remind me what perseverance means lol... slow and steady wins the race.
oh, dee....used to waiting, i was the eldest of 5, i always had to wait until the 'babies' got what they wanted first.
See you mention your "phoenix" rose - my mum is 95 this year. When I went away last year I half expected a phone call to come home ( she seemed that frail) but she has gone from strength to strength. Still frail but hanging in there.
I bet. It IS time to take care of Rose then, for a change.
Amazing women. One of the reasons they do so well is because you two take such good care of them.
dear friend, hope your hubby continues to pick up, and please try and stay well, yourself. nearly 8 pm here, i think maybe i had better do something about dinner.
anike, you know where i'm coming from, then.
Going to go finish my list, then rest for a bit. Hugs to you!! Thanks again for your help.
and hugs back, dee. night anike
Sometimes I think it is sheer stubbornness that keeps her going. My daughter is wonderful with her Grandma and she is tickled pink when my son refers to her as his young lady.
That is precious!
Stubbornness to want to see her grandbabies grow up.
Well, I must poof until the flip. Hugs!!!
understand, you sister, i feel the same at times. mother mac can be so demanding at times, then she says or does something so sweet, you just want to hug her to bits.
Daughter get flabbergasted - we can run around after her all day and Adam walks in and she beams all over because "her boy" is there.
now i really must go. another early start for me tomorrow.
She'll be waiting for ages for my two to produce great grandbabies but the other grandkids have 16 (15 from one set of twins)
Me too - bye rose
big family, anike....makes for some amazing times together. we are only 24 in number, but boy do we know how to party!!!!
* poof *
So long as we have fun along the way
Bye for now

Name that proper noun - surrealist painter!
dali
Bingo! You win a crawling ant!
Ugh but thanks anyway!
phantom ... kandinsky
Oh yea!
name that proper noun---one of our planets
Pluto!
... pluto isn't a planet anymoe
ding ding dong
Oh come on, we can still recognize poor, excommunicated Pluto
slice
hi dose, I forgot pluto was demoted
AAAAAARRRRRRGGHHHH Sorry!
... it fails on two of the four criteria
morning, Molly
Morning Annie. I still recognize good ole Pluto : )
... I know ... Mickey Mouse's dog
thanks Molly
No, not the dog. The celestial orb formerly known as a planet.
... You mean the "Trans-neptunian planetoid"?
Now known as a dwarf planet, which is probably politically incorrect.
... they prefer to be called "Little Planets" ... but I believe it's bigger than Mercury ... ... sorry ... in a bad mood requiring extremely silliness to lighten the day ... ... new call out system at the school board ... fouled me up this morning so I lost a call out ... and I'm ready to bite the heads off of small dogs
*Gathers all small dogs and puts them somewhere safe*
... excellent plan
Morning
... g'morning
... well ... as the only word I can almost see in the grid is Luddite I think that I'll take an early break this morning ... later days
morning all!

ey4/6
thanks sue

ah, little French coins. Now I have nbt for real.
I am still looking for my traditional Eskimo women's knife. Where are those things when you need them?
I'm sure mine is in the back of a drawer somewhere.
did you look under the mattress?
ul and not we but **
I need to slice some traditional Eskimo women's fish.
Hi Kaplan!
I thought I looked there. I guess it was hiding under the little french coins.
Hi!
Whee! Found cl 8!!!
good for you, car.
hint, hint, hint please
extend the cl 5/16 into a superlative adjective
cl5/16 ( potential rain in the sky) -- add 3 letters to make it an adverb
No, not superlative....just an adjective
That's it! Une! ADVERB!!!! THat was the word I was looking for!!! Duh on me! TY!
Nice.
<---- will stop trying to clue until 2nd cup of coffee....
Got it, thanks
got it. Am now trying to use it in a sentence.
car, ya never lose that English teacher/copy editor thang LOL
thanks car. and une
yw :-)
Wasn't Atalante's cat named Sily? Would make a good "name that proper noun"
lo7/40 is similar construction
silverclaw, Sily for short, yes. Hello all :)
and the Sun King is in today's grid!
hi sprite!!
Sprite, Where have you been? Everything okay?
and hi une!
hey, sprite and sue and everyone!
sprite, min said she's interested in doing the icon themes...
yeah, sort of ok, nothing big or dramatic here. Just lots of small illnesses and messes. Thanks for asking :) How are things here with you all?
oh how wonderful! Would be great if she could email me. Let me check, I might have removed my new email addy. Will put it right back in.
ok, good, next time I see her I'll tell her to check your profile!
I have put it in, will love to get her email.
*hugs the babble company here* Love to see you guys.
hugs back to you, sprite!!

(((sprite)))
:)
Hello Sprite!
hi!
good grief . . . finally got the g's -- Babble blindness, I suppose :-)
The boys just got on the bus. THANK GOD!!!!!
car LOL!
lol
They were all systems go this morning....pushing each others buttons...pushing my buttons....AAAAAGH!
su4 a blessing to see them go then, lol.
wait til they're in college and you have an empty nest.
At night and in the morning I just like it semi-quiet....
or until they're in college and still living at home :-P
Hi Bichon! I do treasure them and these days...just some mornings are harder than others.
not here... it is fairly common here that kids stay at home during college years.
As I said yesterday....I just want them to sleep in!
It could be school vacation week and you'd have them all day do that
I know I will miss my son when he is gone - and I am looking forward to missing him (more some days than others!) :-)
I LOVE vacation weeks!!!!
lol yes
sleep in! unknown til the teen years
LOL uusue!
ha - then you can't get them up!! (not being negative here, please, it's just funny how they change!!)
as a neighbour mum always told her kids when they were smaller: "Time to go to bed, kids." "But mum, we are not tired!" "No sweetheart, I am tired, so you go to bed."
it is a chemical thing in the brain, that change. They get ready to multiply :D Active at nights and dormant during the day.
I will not miss what happened last night....Zack woke up because he had to go to the bathroom. Woke me up to tell me he was going. WHY?!?!?!?
incidentally, car, I was told - and discovered that it is true - you can tell when they start getting interested in girls when they start taking showers voluntarily :-)
yeah, why on earth?
He didn't want you to worry, of cours
uusue: and when they start cleaning up their rooms, they have a steady girlfriend.
ahhh...here's to the future!
also true :-)
Wait, that never happened in our house
exercise time, bbl!
bye uusue
I am going in an hour! Have a great workout Sue!
Thank you friends! I am feeling much more relaxed now!
yay for babble chog

dawg, french coin
nm I understand already. *hugs* to you and yours, GE. I hope it went peacefully.
Yes all the sibling plus dad together. Right now it's lack of sleep rather than grief that's weighing me down :)
I have put my candle on my icon for your Mom.
Are you able to rest today?
I am so sorry for your loss. But I know from experience that having been able to send someone peacefully on their way, carried by love, is a real comfort.
Beautifully said, Sprite
psule
Dads a daily mass goer so well be heading out soon. Thanks for all theckind words and hugs right back.
sorry
I will be lifting you all up in prayer. My thoughts are with you. Do try to get some rest. Let me know if you need anything. {[hugs}}

hi hursh

wow, enable must be pre-HMO, that's a long time not to know about copays
lol, i tried that too
enable does not know internet.
I thought so too, hursh
yeah but HMOs go back to like the nixon era
i think it's just a hard grid in general, seems that way so far
stats for the lone I fourth row, third column?
yeah... silly enable
il4/8, scottish for either "each" or "every"
IL4/8
I think the word in question has a hyphen, and would be a PB word as it is in the grid. Just sayin'
dawg, Miss Chase for il 4
don't know miss chase
before your time, dawg
Ilsa Chase.
Not a word.
hi all
I don't know who she was, but I know her name.
Hi Peri.
il and **put
hello peri
Il** Chase was an actress and author
Or is she the IL4? I am mistaken.
Annie did you get the recipe?
hi peri
I get a little confused in my dotage.
name that proper noun! portrayer of poirot
What did she write?
No peri, I didnt
I e-mailed it to you several days ago and did not get it back
David Suchet
ty, found it
will try again
ding ding ding!
I think she wrote social fluff...dont remember any titles
Can somebody please clarify the PB rules for me?
My AOL account is not feeling so great, could you mail it again, please
Oh, YOU are in the PB Annie!
yes Annie
so6
I don't believe in the PB
there aren't rules. we should try not to use words in the grid. but the shorter and more common the words, the less it matters. that's all.
the only way to get into the PB with all the goodies and cabana boys and girls is to post a valid word in the chog.
ooh, off I go...thanks for the cl4, Kap
Annie just did it a minute ago.
Time to scoot. Hugs to all of you (((Hugs)))
then Annie is the lucky one. Just stored up all the fridges and cupboards with fresh goodies.
bye Mom :) *hugs*
(((Sprite))) have a great day
hagd (((MOM)))
you as well, (((LBD)))
*stuffing chocolates into my mouth in a unladylike manner*
glad I was around to see Annie do that. :-)
bye ((Mom))) have a great day
*secretly jumps into the PB and starts keeping Annie company*
Some penalty.
(((Annie))) thanks, you as well
*llicking the chocolate off my fingers..now reaching for a glass of champagne*
In a just world, we wouldn't coddle these people.
wanna strawberry with that, Annie?
Feed them matzah, I say!
hehe, love the choco face, annie
Kaplan, Passover is just around the corner. I will supply the PB with choco cover matzah.
*covered
Thanks for the strawberry, Sprite
Coddling the criminals.
choc is kosher???
morning all
hey hoot :)
nbt, four corners greyed, last column greyed and still not near enough to list.
hi hoot
I dont know about kosher chocolate but matzo is with a capital M
Why?
SPRITE! Haven't seen you in ages! How are you?
hi hoot
you can get kosher chocolate
I just looked at my total and realised I am not even fully halfway!
It is not a proper noun.
am well enough, hoot, just minor stuff. And you? And Woulf and his family?
There's matzah in the PB. Maybe I'll post all my words in the chog <ggg>
*grins at bichon* Come!
help with u pls
brb
We are knee deep in controversy this morning. Greetings for all the newcomers.
ul 4/6
I still don't have an e from the left.
ty
i don't controverse? I am enjoying the sense of community here!
ec 4/6, French pocket change
e + no ex***es.
ec 4/6...old french coins
nbt
but no long words
Don't worry, controversy is over whether matzo has a capital, which it doesn't. Nothing serious.
why would it be capitalized Kaplan?
It isnt...I just capitalized the M as if I were shouting
Oh. I am still in a fugue state, so am not sure of anything right now.
stats for lone e on the right, plz
nm
That's REALLY SIMPLE
little birdies of prey, bichon
...as pie.
that is from the top one, Kaplan
Oh.
ey and ** You Like It

Yeah, but not in grid, I don't think.
top P, kap
it is, believe me
You messing with me?
top P!
I told you I am having a really hard time with my relationship to reality and can't handle confusion.
time to send hubz off to work. bbl
lol. Well, then just trust me, Pluto is in the grid. No confusion. Clear reality. Also: not valid. Alas.
From the top. P goes to L goes to U does NOT goe to T.
bye dawg!
yes, it does Kap
the U is next to the T, hun
OMG. It can't be.
It is.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Do I feel silly.
ding ding ding!!! for Kaplan!
I think Kap needs some chocolate and champagne
It must be all this FREAKISHLY warm weather.
drag Kaplan into the PB, for some comforts.
THAT u.
errr yeah, the corner U, indeed.
What did I do now?
I had better quit while I'm behind.
LOL
we are honoring you with a free PB visit. No word needed. Free entry and all the matzah you want.
I'm exhausted already.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVmB3lR jCmc
I don't think this grid likes me much. I am just past halfway. I have one 7 and no other biggies. I am going at the pace I usually hit for the last 10 or so.
BBL
bye Kalpan
or Kaplan
bye Kap
Kalpan. Thanks.
I am gonna take a break, I don't see any new words here. Bye all!
hi again all!
Hello uu
hi, mark!
How are you?
I am ok but very warm (although I will miss the 80 degree temperatures when they go away!). How about you?
Very warm also. 86 degrees today
supposed to be 83 here - hard to keep my students focused!
Haha definitely
although they did put a couple of very nice new air conditioners in the room I lectured in yesterday - very high tech and fancy, and actually worked without making a racket
AC...wow
anyway must run, class in 45 min, see you later!!
Yes
stats for the 9 please
Could I get a clue for pl7, please?
dont have it, sorry but I have a pl6
I have pl6
di9/72
good afternoon, Haz
pl7/32 - coming at the end of ex and making a big bang.
Hello, Annie and everyone.
i don't have any of these! *starts looking*
hmm, i only have got the one with a cl4 :)
i don't know how much of a dunce i am today and how much it is the grid
The grid
It's the grid.
greetings. anyone know what's happened to Lickety's?'
An unusually high numbers of 'I'm not sure whether I'm glad to meet you' words.
and high numbers of phantoms
and pluot. which is a plum/apricot hybrid fruit.
Sorry Haz I didn't get the clue for pl7. Could you try again?
cl 8/45 plz.. then i can go to work lol
pl7 - If you think of a bomb going off, it causes an ex pl7.
the day began cl8, but got sunny towards noon
great thanks
cl8 - in non-transparent fashion
you asked for the one 8 i actually have! :)
ty !
Good morning, all.
Hello, Judi.
ok - BF off to work! Hi to whoever came in while I was gone!
And that cl9 is totally weird!
someone last night said the di started with di4 but it didn't hep me!
cl8 you mean, just in case poor distracted babblers start looking for cl9.
yes I do - sorry
don't touch that di4
di9 - begin as with the treatment for kidney failure, finish with past tense of to consume food.
Oh that is just silly! TY Haz
You're welcome.
thanks Hazel
ty haz
"Don't touch that di4" a phrase from the pre- remote days : )
Does anyone have a list?
Yes, hootowl, Nononanette has a list.
It's pretty useful today.
Really? Thats new - brb
is there a di 8 ?
No, there's a di7 that is associated with the di9.
thanks, Haz..found it
No problem, Annie.
so, um, could i have a clue for that PL6 (she asked pathetically)
Your pl5 or mine? Put a vowel in the middle
It's literally a fish.
hi again all, here briefly before class..
ahhhh thanks
well that greys the right column, at least!
Got it and copied to my profile tx
Hoot, Nono is one of the early risers who usually grabs the list from whoever generates it.
name that proper noun! nationality of the majority of the sept 11 hijackers
I hope there are no first timers here, because if there are, they'll probably never come back. This grid is super-nasty.
hi haz, hurshy, molly, hoot, jan!
I usually grab it from MitchDick right after he finishes. But I think he was under the weather last night.
Hi sue, hootowl, hurshy, molly and haz!
you know it's odd that people so often get sick when flying, which is OVER the weather.
the i is a proper name
Hello, jan, uusue.
I agree Jan
going to start my day, bye dear babblers
the da5 could be
Have a good day Annie
Eeeh. Down to 100 and feel like I've bee knocked down and stomped on. This is a tuffy.
bye Annie
Bye, Annie.
Bye Annie!
and I am off as well, see you all later!
lu
I'm going to make some lunch so I'll leave you all to the joys of the grid. Bye for now.
bye sue
Bye sue, have a good day!
bye Haz & tx again!
And goodbye to haz too. This place is thinning out fast!
I'm gonna finish!
Good luck, hootowl. I think I'm whipped on this one, though.
Yes. Whipped is the word. Oh, the shame.
Well I have nothing else to do and I'm stubborn!
Come back later and you'll find more. A break always helps
I'm procrastinating--I have way too many things that really ought to be done, and instead I'm beating my head against the brick wall of this grid.
Perhaps. *96*
I think you're right, hoot. I suspect that I've just gone grid-blind at the minute. Back later...
I'm cheesed off. The weather is supposed to be crap on Saturday. I was going to plant a bunch of forsythia bushes. Grrrrr.
Well I do too but BF won't be home til 6 and I can spread out what has to be done
The forsythia won't mind
I'm sure it won't, Hoot. But I will! I'm a fair weather gardener.
BF is a meteorologist - I'll ask him tonight.
nor the ce7, if you have any of those. (just looked it up cause i had no idea what that word meant)
Morning Kiddies
I love to plant in the rain.
Hi Hego
It a flowering plant
Hi Molls
The stuff that looks like cotton candy
and ty
Foo. Rain makes the soil heavier to dig. My back will not like me if I shovel too much.
well yeah i know that now, cause i just looked it up!
hehe
Okay. Enough whining. I'm off to do some real work to justify my existence and pay check. See you kids tomorrow. *POOF*
well Judi you could do it a little at a time starting today?
Never heard of the ce7 either.
They tend to put fancy names on it in the catalogs. Just look for one that looks like triangle
how many words today?
back for a few more, finding this grid more than a bit challenging.
192
197 ouwachita, and hi
thanks hego
It's my experience that you can take a forsythia twig and just stick it in a hole and it will grow!
Hi Spritey
yw
hego :D
hi sprite...is it 192 or 197?
ec8 rhymes with pl7
197, Ouwachita

yeah I know... I already have a backup though, on an external drive. Contains quite a few epubs.
good stuff
no 'sidhe' ?
and sprite, with a bit of digging you can get good books at www.epubbud.com

he has definatly slid of the top ten list,we do not blame you
ahh, carlee,it is way too warm(25c) but my trees do not glow.best check for radiation;)
Hi all. I jumped right in w/out thinking. How hard can it be, there's only 197 words. Well, after staring blankly at this grid for a few minutes, I'd say pretty hard.
all the branches are bare up here still
howdy gramma,it does have a bit of a bite to it
Signs of Spring. We heard peepers for the 1st time this year.
hi gramma
we are shocked into sudden summer ,all the birds are back all the hibernating animals are up and stumbling around early looking at bare earth and no green on the trees
did anything hiebernate at all? i smelled skunks all winter...if u can call it winter
the tundra swans flew through here 2 weeks ago
was no winter carlee and any hibernating was fleeting at best
( going up to 28 here today crossy...YAHOOOOOOEY)
just a brief nap. lol
we are setting temerature records for every day in march so far
we are alreayd at 18c now carlee
already
we had a hodenosawnee lady in lecturing yesterday and she spoke saying we are going to have 2 full seasons of bugs and things this year

Sorry I had a client walk in. Work, work work, Don't they know I Have to Babble?
Molly, where do you live? We live in the banana belt of Vermont aka the Champlain Valley
actually editing is easy, you take one writer who is now word blind from staring at dusty tomes of forgotten lore and scratcing down notes for 3 weeks, you make them a tea with a healthy sot of something in it and put them in a corner.then you sit down with fresh eys and take all the information9which is already there anyways) and form it into a pleasing read
shot
I prefered sot
well matter not as long as it is 180 proof or better:)
write drunk,edit sober
I like mine a lower octane for a longer run
i like to burn fast and hot.time is the fire in which we burn after all...
like dire straits says:you got to run on "heavy fuel" :)
hi all, very tough grid today. only one 6 and no biggies
BBL I need to eat
Hi Peri
;)
;)
2 6'snow
monkeyed a 7!
bl
Can I have a clue for au6?
audic
oooops
looking with you kenny
I just tried that too
Got it!
got it
Share?
au+ you do this to use a phone
hi again all!
howdy suze!
ty
np:)
hi 8)
I can't find the clues and I really need them today!
da 5/16 is a flower
nononanette has clues, kim, as does volleymomdee
EX..pl7/32
thats a nice word;)
thank you so much
and use most of that on the end of the ec 8/45
stupid question again...how do I get to nononanette or volleymomdee
OK, I have to pick desserts and appetizers for my retirement party....
that gives you 2 of the biggest pita words i have so far
getting cabana boys to carry the appitzer trays around suze?
search in the rankings, kim
is pita like pocket bread, or an abbreviation for a pain?
looking for volunteers, crossy :-)
hi again, everyone. clue for the oc5?
i'm having a tough time with this grid.
lol,my cabana days are long gone, and a lass has his hooks into my son already..sorry i have no spares here
this is not a friendly grid, HH
serves me right - I'm supposed to be cleaning.
I have nono's list in my profile
oc +j**y is in the summer + vowel, dawg
ty dorens
ocula
oh pits...sorry
almost, lbd :-)
close, llbd
tya
you are spared the pb by a technicality
*blush* hope annie left some chocolates in the pb
List here: http://tinyurl.com/844dcje
there's one in my profile
must say I don't understand crossy's clues at all (but that's ok, I'm just starting, really)
Oops, sorry Hoot. Didn't see you here.
ty ty ty Ya'll are wonderful!
A bomb causes an expl7
Been in & out
bbl. this grid is killing me
ah, thanks, was trying a different ending (for no good reason whatsoever)
Then follow his other clue for the ec
that gave me the ec as well!
It's is a female dog!
Even with the list it sucks!
Don't worry Hoot. We will have nice, easy under 50 ones on Saturday and Sunday.
phooey
meanwhile, should I go with the chicken pineapple brochettes or the Mexican pita pizzas? (still choosing items for my retirement party)
what's a brochette?
little breads?
skewer
I think...
oh - brouchettes then!
what the dif between a mexican pizza and an italian?
what is a pita pizza, Mexican, no less?
dunno but Italian isn't a choice
it's all finger food
oh you split the pita and add the stuff you want
so I think the pita pizzas are little slices of pita, probably with cheese, bean, salsa, or whatever to make it Mexican
bake it to melt the cheese. Good if you likr craker pizza
cracker
Do you get the feeling I'm not into fighting this abomination?
I thought you were making them sue
I eat either Italian or Mexican, not fusion
that was 2 separate subjects!
here's the menu: http://tinyurl.com/76cz7ae
I tend to make my own but usually use english muffins.
three hot appetizers, three cold appetizers, and some desserts
you are all invited, of course! I'll put details in my profile (it will be May 4)
Ran out one day and tried the pita. Works if you like the cracker crust.
well ty sue
there's a pizza place in Reno that has a "valdez" pizza, it's the regular tomato sauce and mozarella, but the toppings are chorizo and jalapeno. It's fabulous
clue for the ea6?
chorizo good, jalapenos no. Not into hot stuff
turn the ea4 into an adverb
au6?
.. adverb of ea4
well, yes, you have to like picante
au6 ... related to sound or hearing ... ... au +d4
of hearing
of hearing
I did when I was way younger but outgrew it I guess, Like to taste the rest of the food.
back again
ty, found it
just jalapenos, not habaneros
hi sprite!
I only have au5 related to hearing...
hi uusue :)
ah got the 6 too now.
co6.24 the last one?
sorry, no idea yet :(
c + chickens are p***try + t** the season
thanks, lbd!
yw, icky grid. need all sorts of he4
Clue for the last co6, please?
same here. And it stupifies me even further too. Now I have no idea what t** the season is :)
t** the season to be jolly?
ah! Thank you!
ty ibd - how about the first co 6 please
just wonderful, another one found. Thanks again, dawg.
first one is outerwear + double vowel
Tx dawger
yeah. And there is one that means homelike.
hmmm, sort of like a misspelled beard...
Sorry - not clear the other 6/24
yeah. A beard that you wear as a manteau.
lol, sprite!
nasty image, isn't it ;)
manteau?
... thing you wear in the winter
short jacket, hoot. Trying hard to avoid typing the co4 in chog here!
also a word in the grid, so sprite is cleverly avoiding typing it :-)
:D
it comes from the 4? bird house?
no, from the warm outer garment co4.
like a parka or overco**
the 6/24 ?
I have the 6/21
and the 6/27
no,that's the 6/21, the 6/24 is a French cooking term
lol well co6.24 isn't the first co.
need the first 6/24
no, 6/21 is the garment. I don't yet have a 2nd co6/24.
... co6/24 I got is ... adverb of c04/7
co6/24
co6.24 co + cha**** blanc
no that's the 27
that is the one, thank you dawg
and hiya dos :)
I have cl8 and ec8. Could somebody pls tell me which are the other 8s?
... morgen (as close to Dutch as my three words of German allow) ... and it's almost noon here anyways ... so I guess it should be guten aben
it is almost
If that's a wine I don't know it. Lats drop it for now. ty all anyway
it is almost 'avond' here (evening). Right now it is 'middag'.
no8 and to8, sprite
no8/50

They're good dogs, but the hunger drive
I couldn't manage a labradoodle. I need a dog I can pick up and put somewhere else

afternoon babblers!
hi eva!
howdy eva:))
Hi Eva...I have to ask...did you try the netti pot?
majmom, take the cl5/16 and turn it into an adverb
i didnt, actually. i did pick up some Zicam allergy, and that has helped immensely!
standard poodle, crossy, they are BIG - at least as big as the labrador
ty uu
ahh
thought there were some interesting gymnastics going on there for a second

hiny for no 6
Hey, as they said in "Carousel", it's busting out all over.
*hint
did someone call an no 8? -- have an no 6
no6...the end sounds like pistols at five paces
Yes, there is an no8
Oh, and no hiny from me Bich. But there are other people who like to moon the chat log. : )
ty Molly
have a bumpy no 6 and a high decibel one -- does the 8 build from either of those?
bumpy
oh no the lo 4 one is a 5
the first nan, the bumpy one
the bumps, nan
Has a sugar ending
ty, molly
got it - ty bichon and molly
np
ty for bumpy no6, nan
trying to find the co 6/24 that sounds like a chinese worker or a wide valley
thought it would end with the alien going home, but no...
a red pepper co6 is a common topping for fried green tomatoes.
co6 is a common sauce in Louisiana's cuisine
I would just call it a puree -- not a co something
it's a thick sauce made of fruit or vegetables; a distant cousin to remoulade
gollleeee -- thought that was called hot sauce!
the co 6/24 think undrsea explore from 70,s and you are close, french guy
red bell pepper, not hot pepper :)
explorer
just change 3rd letter
so is it a coolie or a cousteau?
Yeah, but saying it's a French puree seems redundant since puree is a French word
i said close, not bang on lol
Ends like fleur de *** Nan
I think you're clueing at cross purposes. There's more than one co6/24.
i shall lead you close, but no spoon feeding, that comes when we are down to the nitty gritty:)
Ah, you're right Haz. Not paying attention.
more than liklly haz
co6/24 the first - combine a bed with French water
I'm totally confused anyway
best let haz bring you home on these 2 words lol
ty haz - found that one
co6/24 the second, c plus a reworking of the French king (the French had no imagination and named them all the same)
ah, more than one co6, ta, crossy
np dc;))
And that second one is the puree.
It's that sort of a grid. You begin to wonder if you know your own name.
and I'm assuming, it ends with the french national flower
Yes, it does.
we trust in you haz to keep us all organized:))
got it - tyvm
Well done, cybernan.
100 down - taking a break before listing
oh, and I need to find the 9
di9/72
huh. Just saw the proposed maps. Looks like my area is moving from the Virginia 8th to the Viriginia 11th congressional district. Here's hoping my very progressive area will balance the more conservative southern parts of the new district.
here we have the left, the right and the mushy middle lol
that's an obscure word unless one's kidney's have failed.
ty, haz
ty dc and haz
You're welcome, dc.
"Cluing at cross purposes" sounds almost criminal. : O
It certainly sounds disapproving, doesn't it?
well molly,we are busted
: )
good clue for that 9 and glad it is off my to hunt list:)
oh, well -- kidney clue didn't help me -- off for a cuppa
the process of flushing out the poison
just found it :)
yaaa!
i'm sitting on the port enjoying the birds and the buses and trucks, really more the birds
go, nan!
dc,interesting note, all our busses are running on bio-diesel now and often smell like french fries going down the road
we have a town bio-diesel plant and all the fast food chains donate the old fryer oil to the town council who in turn make sure it gets refined here and used here
that's cool, crossy
so because a portions is donated, our bus fares stay at a dollar no matter how many transfers and the yearly passes can be wrote off on the taxes
a lot of Metrobuses -- the regional system -- run on biodiesel, but the Connectors -- the county's system -- run on regular diesel
i get my son a pass every year
i keep wanting poulet to work.
leave out a vowel - hi dc
i get the pass for him everry decemer and get the money back when i do my taxes in feb of the new year
ty, hoot
close dc
Been waiting to thank you. Our computer problems are solved.
oh, so glad to hear that, hoot :)
except of course the ones caused by Comcast
well, yes, one can only expect so much from Comcast :)
It is def not something we would have thought of. Thought it just wouldn't work at all.
we use rogers and they have a practice of bandwidth throttling at peak times dc;(
we have Comcast here at our house, so i feel your pain.
so did Comcast and other large provider here, crossy.
:((
There is something in Memphis that brings out the worst in them. In Knoxville I had great help with problems, here they just send out new people
such a lovely Spring day here. The maples are already in seed? Looks like they'll be dropping the seeds in the next 10 days!
I always wonder about that! Def inite slowdowns ay drivetime, lunch, breaks etc
Comcast of Prince William, which servers where i live currently is great. Comcast of the District of Columbia is horrible.
At 5pm it basically stops.
our slowest time is 9PM-Midnight
their business class service rocks.
And the TV has been an ongoing nightmare since we switched back to them from uverse!
we don't have TV or phone from them.
Montgomery County Comcast bites.
Well I have a hate-hate with att since before I left NY! We still have them for phone but BF is finally realising we pay an awful lot for a phone we seldom use. I've had a tracfone for about 10years and he's finally starting to think e'll get one.
must head out ,so here is crossy,s tidbit of the day!
i'm glad i live in Reston, as Reston is not part of Fairfax' County's system -- the rest of the county has Cox, and they're worse than Comcast.
be well, crossy
Tobias Fünke's "nevernude" problem on Arrested Development is real. It's called "gymnophobia"—the fear of nude bodies.
I've heard terrible things about Cox
You still get Arrested Developement!?
I hear whispers about a movie but it wouldn't be the same.
The cable companies figure they've got us by the short hairs. Amazing what you can get on a cmp nowadays!
I've got to concentrate on finishing. Storms will be rolling in and I'll be stuck!
hi Babblers.. second tuff grid in a row
yes it is, aloy, welcome
at least for me.
oooh, there was a hint of sun! It's been overcast all day thus far
hi dc, have been as7, trying to "earn" the list
i've got it in my profile when you are ready
hi hoot.. tyvm, just reached that point!
ta for the pair of words, aloy
ooh, I really appreciate separating the words, hoot.. SO much easier on the eyes (almost PB, not quite) .. yw, dc
yes, the grouping helps. i often paste the list in a spreadsheet and check off what i've found
good idea, sans Lickety, dc
yw I try to get it out as soon as they finish finding everything.
sigh. looks like my county's GIS system is down. :/
?
Geographic Information Systems site. I'm trying to see a sanitary sewer map for a grid section to see if sewer service is available for a plot of residential land we're listing.
i guess i could walk over to the library in a bit and look at the physical maps.
aah tx
The cardinals are very chatty today. must be mating season.
baby eaglet on top of the cell tower is out of the nest, sitting up there contemplating a first flight
nice, aloy :)
Everything is mating around here. All nest building. Very few birds hanging around the feeders.
have only spotted one.. sometimes there are two
BUT next month....I'll be refilling 2-3x a day!
I have hawks and falcons but only see the feathers they leave behind.
and I don't mean theirs...
Cooper
redtail
Cooper's Hawk attacks the songbirds..
do you have bushes close to the feeders so they can hide if necessary?
well I watched a red-tail pull apart a pigeon
wow.. they are good hunters.. I watched one perch and wait and then dive SO fast..
the apartment we were inoriginally had kestrels
lovely birds
ok I just checked weather map and I figure I've got less than an hour. Have to batten down the hatches outside. Have a great day!
ok, stay safe hoot..
just saw the question. We are surrounded by trees and the rosebush is their favorite hiding place. We actually have all the feeders in our carport because the other side is naked
if it stops I'll be back later
(-: ok
rats, copay won't work
alas not, i tried copay too
lol, I remember asking Dr. G when I first started if there is a penalty for wrong guesses.. he replied, "Guess Away1"
I can only imagine how bad scores would be if you got points off for wrong guesses.
I'd be in the hole for sure
stuck on the as's - any clues?
plural of "funny farm"?.. a place for people not in their right mind
that would be as5, as7 is what I am when I don't chat at all
ty for the as 5
yvw

lol.. no, like a wallflower ..
kgot the 7, ty
yay
do both au 5's have to do with the ears?
yep
can't find one of them
Ends like Mr. Gore

Got it thanks
wtg
grid is a beast today
a meany beast
Only took me 13 hours to get halfway! Woo to the hoo!
Most of us agree Jafro. I wonder about people who say "Fun grid!" about ones as bad as this.
yesterday's was difficult for me too
Oh, I like "woo to the hoo" Mag. Almost as good as "hell to the no" : )
but this one has so many obscure words!
LOL Molly
I agree Aloy. When you scan down the word list, it's almost like it's in some alien language.
feeling vocabulary challenged
def. NOT a day to stop and look up meanings, or I would never finish
hah.. you might say this grid is a lu4.6 !!!!
We should have a LU4.6 award for the tuffest grids.. post the grid in the PB with the award
monkeys are having a field day
syat
can anyone clue the oc5 please
2:02 pm, Norma
Thanks Aloy : ))
glad you got it
This grid really is a lulu as Aloy stated. Clue for as 7/32 please.
Annie, straight to the PB !
*gasp!* Annie!
do not pass go, do not collect $200
I spelled it out...grrrrrrrrrr
Im going, Im going!
oh, and don't forget the Star Trek tech with a similar name...
as7 is what you are in the PB with no one to interact with
One of my clients OD'd so I am in unhappy shape
but we will wave to you anyway
oh no Kap!Hugs
TY amelu! didn't have that one
No, Kaplan, sorry to hear that awful news
oh no, so sorry Kap
He would have been my 5:00 appointment today. Young kid, in his 20s.
Sorry to be a downer.
sooooo sad!
Tragic. :-(
We are all so sad. Talented kid, reaching out, just-...
Not being a downer. We're here for you Kap
good to get it out, Kap.. and.. it puts things in perspective .. we have been moaning and groaning about the stoopid grid
Just so nobody says it was a choice.
I had that as 7 all along.
sounds like a case of Babble Eyes, Annie
I really liked him- we "got" each other's humor
No way Kap. Sometimes when you are wandering in the darkness, you just can't find your way out.
A statistic. Just another drug addict.
Heartbreaking.
That's for sure, mom.
Nice Jewish boy. Musician. Lost his mom a few years ago. Lot's of pain.
Oh, Kap, I'm sorry. truly tragic.. No words for that.
Nice Jewish boy being sort of irrelevant--everyone is someon's kid.
But he seemed sort of like family to me.
We had a prominent local businessman who took his life this weekend. 4 kids, 7 grandkids, but he just couldn't get past the loss of his wife last summer and some financial troubles. It was just too much for him
makes it so much harder... and it always hurts
Oh Kap, wish I was closer so I could give you a big hug!
If I knew this was a suicide, I'd feel slightly better- only slightly- thinking well, he wanted it at that moment, but with an OD it is just one time too many.
I'm not much of a hugger, but thanks.
Well, that's the work I do--what we try to prevent.
Win some, lose some...
Sucks.
I want to eat and go shopping or something.
He was doing better last week. I was going to see him today.
His peers are pretty shook up- could have been any of them.
They often don't know what keeps them alive, and really hope never to fall again, which is why I say it's never as simple as just making a bad choice.
R.I.P.
my t's and p's to the kids, and to you, Kap.
you need to get away from the computer and get out with people. that always seemed to help me when i lost a client. not necessarily talking to anyone, just being part of a whole.
I just got home- was with people the first hours. It helps to be with people who are sympathetic to people with addictions, because everyone "gets" it, but now that I am not in the office, it's kinda hard
He was going to meet me in my home office at 5.
sorry - had to deal with kids.
kap, hope you're not blaming yourself at all
No, I'm not really.
and eating and shopping sounds like a great idea.
There's only so much people can be do.
Can do, I mean.
I need the lu4 before the musical instrument. Any clue?
It's a real lu4, ken.
the old cliche..... time heals . unfortunately, that is the only thing right now that helps. it truly sucks... not a term i like, but totally apropos right now
depends on your age kenny. little lu** cartoon character?
it's hard to make sense of a young person dying, compounded with addiction, i think it's even harder to reconcile the feelings s/he must have been going through
i don't think there is any sense that can be made of it
the ending of the city in hawaii honolu**
The work is with the living- the other kids in their 20s who are battling this and have gotten into something that they can't control.
His dad...
Got it . Thanks
Kids also have to learn how to protect each other from overdosing and to deal with an overdose if they witness it. This is not the same as giving them permission to use drugs.
Many deaths occur because people who are present panic and don't get help.
you are right kap. i kind of wish the health classes would deal with what to do in an overdose situation. prophylactically speaking
So if anyone takes anything from this, I would hope that every life is worth saving. Behind that drug addict is a talent and a sweetness waiting to get out.
so true
Thank you for listening.
thanks for sharing, Kap.. and thanks for the work that you do
we are here for each other. some of the issues seem more significant than others
who among us can't identify with the pain in this situation? (rhetorical)
as Doren's said, we
we're here for each other in good and bad, happy and sad situations.
yup, cyberhugs coming your way, Kap.. must scoot now.. ci4 for now, folks
Looks like I just came in on te tail end of something sad and serious
One of my clients OD'd.
young man.
Kaplan, how horrible. You must be beyond distraught.
I am sooooooooooooooo sad.
It is such a shame for a young person to lose their life over drugs.
I know I usually monopolize the chat with drivel, now I am monopolizing with tragedy.
Is there family who you need to talk with. That would be especially difficult.
Our program will of course reach out to the dad. His grandmother just died this weekend.
Did that have anything to do with the OD?
Probably.
But it's always a confluence of things, + bad luck. And I almost put myself in the PB again.
yo're exempt today, Kap.
Was he doing well before his grandmother died, or could you have seen this happenening? Was it accidental or purposeful?
Those are impossible questions to answer.
Linear causality and intent are indecipherable.
The not knowing what you might have, could have done must be maddening
((((((((KAPLAN)))))))) my heart is full of sorrow for you and your community
Which is a fancy way of saying who the hell knows?
It could not have been prevented by any one person or action.
It's what we do for a living- providing treatment to young people who are struggling with this.
Bless you good heart Kaplan.
Many do get better.
I am grateful for people like you, Kaplan, who have the strength and compassion to do that job. I lack the fortitude... just a few weeks on a crisis helpline decades ago made that clear. Could do the job, but came home a mess every time. ((more hugs)) So, thank you -- because I have known people who were helped by people like you.
I don't have a heart that is more good than onyone else's.
Yes, but it's what you do with it.
It's just because I don't have a talent for selling real estate.
back in a few, need to take care of something in the kitchen
can anyone clue the final co6/24 please
that co6 means a sauce made with puréed vegetables or fruit and used as a base or garnish.
a thin puree Norma, often served dribbled over a meal
i think i feel a nap calling my name...bbl tonight.
Brilliant thanks for the clues ... wasn't spelling it correctly ....
yw

yes, I've been in and out today, between washings, etc
had shingles vaccine yesterday and experiencing a very mild fluey feeling
lot better than shingles though! do you only need the one shot for life?
this was listed as a possible reaction
oh, you bet lyn, we have friends who are going through this dreaded ailment and it's hard to see them suffer
yes, a one time shot - as far as they know now
it's fairly new (we just heard of it) here in Canada but have known of friends who've gone to US to get it
Yes, a friends father got it and he suffered badly
must check it out here...thanks (not sure if I had chicken pox)
one male friend has lost 50 lbs
!!
phone the office lyn, they'll advise you
I've had Shingles and the Shingles shot. They only seem to give it to people in their 60's. Yes, no?
can't answer that bichon, hubby and I both over 60
just checked, available here but only free for babies/children
oh, we did have to pay for it
hey there everyone! did anyone get a chance to do a list today?
Volleymomdee has one
yes, I have Dee's list in my bio
thanks!
yw

Sorry.

rats she took that strawberry away!
*Puts chocolate covered strawberries in the PB for Hego*
why?
Because she was bummed that Viajes took hers away.
Is it just me, or is this a hard grid?
this grid is a headache
Thanks flosey. I'm not even halfway, and feel like I've given a good (although useless) effort.
I've been in and out all day, started last night
went for a short drive just to refresh and enjoy the sun
I've only been at it an hour and a half or so. 85...woohoo...not!
12 left hey, wtg Champ, that's great
12? You'll get 'em. Plenty of time!
yes, break needed, get supper, bbl
k!
pocus should be a word. As in "hocus-pocus". Am sure it's a technical, magic word. :)
change 1st letter to L and it works - magic
evening all
hi Glant, am just on my way out for a bit
Hi Flosey - may still be struggling here when you get back LOL

it's a pita, my monkeys are even becoming dyslexic...
down to 2.. anyone need cl**s?
show off LOL
haha.. no really i was going to offer help before asking.. lol
115 left for me - too many to clue - but any hints for the 8s or 9 would be welcome
cause i CANNOT find these last two
what are they - we may have them LOL
erda clued the di 9 @ 11:47
cl 8/65 works off of the cl 5/16
SO 6/21.. the first one I think..
and no 5/12.. again the first one
don't have tat
have that LOL
ec 8/45 is very similar to the sound tnt makes.. was clued that way earlier
my 1st so 6/21 was a Studies in school...
I think - no5/14 - add a sometimes vowel to the no44 before it
or a science
no is to do with silk
no5/12 ends with Mr Gore
wait. .would b the 2nd NO 5/12
ah, don;t have the 1st then
ahh.. that was the one with mr gore..
ah, do
i was sure i had tried that..
evening! I am finding this grid difficult!
think about nodes and exchange the last vowel
this one was pretty hard
still not quite done
lbuxx, did you get the so?
nope.. working on it now..
I got the so thanks Ame
eyes are about to fall out
:o)
Earlier, my A key malfunctioned as well so I had a long break while that got fixed.
this is a very tough grid.
study, science or worker for that first so6
Is it possible to lose 15 pounds over the course of a year and gain it all back in two weeks without doing anything different, or am I just being neurotic?
thanks Kap, I feel better knowing it is not just me.
it's possible.
How?
hve you resprted to the demon drink Kap? That's what adds weight for me
Kap I think it is possible but you may have been doing somthing different, or your scale is wrong, did you have to get new clothing?
amelu.. im gonna need more than that.. lol
Just because I did't look at the scale?
so - and evening out with other people?
you're gonna fish yourself... FB is a so6 site.
a so event?
No, I just decided this. It's part of my week of being in an alternate reality.
ooh, alternate reality sounds good right now - can I join you?
danggit.. twould be the 2nd SO 6/21 that i need.. lol
wine usually creatyes the illusion of alternate reality but it fades while i sleep LOL
80 degree weather, 10 pounds in a week, and all sorts of chaos.
powder in liquid
think along that line...
Breakfast without orange sl6 is like a day without sunshine.
Howzat?
are you feeling well? clothes still fit?
I am getting over a chestcold.
so + the earlier musical instrument?
do your clothes still fit?
TY Amelu
It's hard to say.
Since last week, everything is haywire.
yw :o)
Maybe I'll google my symptoms. That's always so reassuring.
According to Google, I have been dead for 6 days.
Dr. Google does give one the warm fuzzy...
Well, no wonder.
oh, absolutely Kap. You could have lassa dengue pimple fever
i give for right now.. gotta get going.. every have a good night :-)
maybe in your case the warm fuzzy is mold?
lbuxx, so + a musical instrument
bye lbu - don;t know how you can give up so near the end!
I have 78 left.
This is a losing proposition.
el 6, please?
nm, found it
I have 136 left, they are well well hidden, but dinner is ALMOST ready Yum.
105 left for me
last el 7, please?
sounds kinda like seeing things that aren't there
Just read back over the chog. Kap, I'm sorry for your troubles, I'm sorry for yet another family in grief and bewilderment and turmoil today. May their God be with them.

thank you Soodle.
... think in terms of threatment for kidney disease
ok, 33 left and I'm shutting down (mentally and physically). Good luck to all! Have a great remainder!
*poof*

Bloody drugs! They are the the modern day plague. A scourge on our society.
... turn the process into a verb
good evening all... how much of an addict must I be to come back for more punishment from this tricky grid :)
Hi Sprtie!!!

no 8/5 ... the sugar ending on the no6/24
lo 6/24, please?
Thanks all. My girl just got me the iPhone 4s. I'm pretty excited and worried that I may start falling for Siri ;)
Whoa! Nice pressie, Yad!

Happy Birthday Yad! and hello everyone
ty lynxxx
Hiya Lynn
hi all
ty lynxxx, but again...weird word!
... Yes happy 32nd ... let's see the Watergate breakin was about to happen on mine ... ... may you not have a disaster like that on yours
Jmc. How did your open house go?
Hi jmc!
it was wonderful about 50 people showed up and after it was over i collasped
hey lyn xxx :)
... nope that was 22
and jmc, and nan :)
hi Spritely
between spending most of a week cleaning and taking people up to the roof i went to bed at 9
good job, jmc :)
i have a piece of the very carpet that was bugged in the watergate
Yay!! I'm so glad it was sucessful.
... neat
when i was 32 mmmmm i had a 2 year old son and a deafie husband
is that right?. . . . *does mental calculations*
I don't think I ever was 32
no no i had just been living in sin with my future husband
... sorry ... I was just in grad school trying to figure out how to get a thesis done ... and if it would be good enough as a start on a PhD ... ... it wasn't
When I was 32 I had just had my second kid and was a mental & physical wreck.
same for me, I think, Soodle. I think I will skip that time in memory, grin.
bummer dose
i was young and in love shortly there after we did a trial together where he proposed to me
I had just had mine too Soodle and Sprite! #3 didn't come for almost 5 more years.
I had just returned to work after my first child - to a fab job that lasted the next 22 years
romantic, jmc :)
very romantic jmc
(Best Travolta impression)... JMC.. tell me more, tell me more, tell me more....
sounds good, lyn. A fab job is a treasure.
we were half way through a trial representing homeless people who protested in the capital rotunda
... each decade i pull out my notes and look at them again ... ... it might work this time but my higher math is too rusty and everybody knows that CAPM isn't gonna work now ... it isn't radical anymore to say there are serious problems with it ...
all the other lawyers had to recuse themselves because they had been at the demonstration and the prosecutor was threatening to call them as witnesses
*does the background DUB-deeDUB-deeDUB-deeDOOBIEdoobieDUB*
the trial was a zoo--my hubby's client was sleeping in the park during the trial and one day came in late because the hotel people across from the park didn't wake him
lol jmc!
Dunno about the rest of you Babblers, but when I was 32... internet was something that was spoken about in awed whispers... personal computers were what really really rich people had... and I am only (!!) 51....
so after a week of trial hubby and i were sitting in the lawyers lounge exhausted on friday afternoon and my hubby got a twinkle in his eye
I am not that much younger, Soodle, and I remember those days.
Agreed Soodle! Go on jmc...!
whenever he got a twinkle in his eye it meant he had a secret that he was dying to tell me
he said should i tell you ? i don't know. it would spoil the surprise
Oooh... twinkling eyes... MORE..............
... I wrote a paper saying that the beta ratios of bank stocks were not a good predictor of bank performance ... ... my prof gave me a B- ... i thought it was better so I asked my faculty advisor what was wrong ... ... he said that he would have given it an A- but that my prof had just received hisd PhD with a dissertation that said that the beta ratios WERE A GOOD PREDICTOR of the performance of bank stocks ... so I was lucky the guy had even read my stuff
go on, go on!
he got on the phone and made a reservation to our favorite restaurant (which was still reasonable)
then he giggled
What awful luck doseffing!
bad luck, dos
i rolled my eyes said what's up?
sad story dose and who was right?
My God! Is it Charles Dickens, or JMC, with the whole installment thing....?
he giggle again and said i think i may propose to you tonight
... hey ... I turned out to be right but it took 30 years ... ... maybe in my next existence ... ... it's been four years since I got a degree ... about time I went back for another
awwwwww that is SO cute!
Oh for god's sake!!!
i got misty eyed and we both smiled and went home to change clothes and go out to the restaurant
jmc that is awesome!
what a honey jmc
at the restaurant he got down on one knee and proposed to me. . . .
...........and they both lived happily ever afterwards?
it being washington dc no one said nothing
Well of course you did! i hope he did the whole 9 yards after tipping you off.
definitely a keeper, that one
he claimed i made him wait with my answer!
You have the best stories about your husband JMC. I'm glad you two got your time together.
Attagirl, JMC!
beautiful, jmc :)
he finally bought me a ring 3 months later but that is another story
Good for you! My husband still claims I asked HIM. A complete falsehoodd.
falsehood. sorry.
lovely story. Makes me happy for you.
now i can't even afford an hor dourve at that restaurant
well we know the truth champ!
your memories of that time are worth more than their whole menu, jmc
<---------- Am smiling at the thought of loves young dream.
he wrote a short story about it once -- 4 sentences
yes, thank you! And you have a lovely memory that I'm sure is the same for you both. :)
What Sprite said!
it was a long boring voir dire (jury sellection). he looked at his law partner and knew it was time. he proposed. they were so happy.
lolol
Sigh.
to the point and cute :)
sorry lynxx i know my long stories drive you up the wall! hahaha
I like the last line the best.
i love his version of our story
It made me smile
i am glad
One of my favorite love stories. You can tell them here any time JMC.
it makes me smile too
*turns back. dabs eyes and blows nose*
*hugs jmc and smiles*
JMC, I envy you. I think of my ex, and feel nothing but vitriol and anger, even though he contributed to the three best things in my life (my kids). You go JMC!
i will save the ring story for another day. . . now to read about the drug lords in colombia
Oooh!! Something to look forward to in the chog! HOpe I don't miss it.
Hey - just found my most favorite perfume - misspelled but still...lu4.6
bye all. . . .remember to tell someone you love them!
I am sorry, Soodle. There will come a day when you'll be ready to let go. Promise.
bye!
bye jmc
From romantic love stories to columbian drug lords...........bonly on babble.
jmc, I love you.
bonly?? ONLY!
bonly the lonely....
Yes, well we know where your mind has gone.
hi all, this grid is driving me to drink
Clearly Freudian!!!
peri, I can understand that!
using morewords a lot
I am into a2z up to my ears as well
If I hit halfway, will dance a jig!
but almost done at last. One more C and 2 more S-s.
go sprite, go!
*Pours Peri a big ole glass of wine*
I am going to take whats left of the warm and fuzzy feeling that JMC's story gave me, and take meself off to my bed.
*Pulls up front row seat for Champ's jig*
good night Soodle!
sleep well, Soodle, and have warm and fuzzy dreams
Night Soodle
Good night all. Hugs all round ((((((((()))))))))))
ty Molly but that will put me to sleep and then I will never finish this grid
it is ok not to finish it too, peri :)
I have 5 more Molly...GAHHHHHHHHH!

this may be one of them
go Champ goooo
I will plod along as much as I can

Bring it on home, sprite!
fireflies! Ok, am proud of myself. This was one tricky grid!
anything I can help with before I go?
Yay!!!! That's great!
Congrats Sprite!
*happy dance*
yay for sprite
good, if there are no cl4s needed, I should be off to bed. Sleep well all, or have a grand day, or both. *hugs*
bye Sprite

ty lynxxx - so many new words today!

*Cues up jig music for champ, ala Bruce Willis at the end of "The Last Boy Scout" *
One more word....one more word!!!!!!!!! (for halfway...not attempting more than that)
*Bagpipes begin to play...*
hi all

ah - they just came alive again!
HALF-FREAKIN' WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *shimmy-shimmy-high kick!*
rain, rain go away, i have enough today
no rain here today.

paid $650 for car repairs yesterday and it wouldn't start today. ARRRGG.
ouch
we were going to leave for the mountains today, but will go tomorrow in another car. They did fix the wire that was shredded for free.
Yay Champ!!! Loved the jig!!!
*!* ta da *!* - ty for the help
Congrats Nan!
Finished too - thank goodness. Bye all
Wty lynxxx and Nan!!!!
Mixi, what kind of car?
99 chevy venture
Do you know what's wrong with it yet?
hello all
yay lyn and nan !!
hi again all!
hi sue
hi sue!
hi west! You are looking very springlike!
we replaced the thermostat, flushed radiator, etc. It wouldn't start because the cable from the battery to the fuse box was schredded. Should be all fixed, but its getting old and the AC coolant leaks.
and hi jen!
thanks sue...I'll share it with everyone
WOW! That's a lot.
has your weather cooled down yet sue?
mixi we had shredded wires..squirrels did it
nope, high today was 83, west
supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow, then the 60s for a few days, then back into the 70s next week
we're supposed to have one more gorgeous day and then cold again..normal cold
this looked like it rubbed. the part next to it was shiny. It just wasn't tied down.
it was rainy here sue
I'm needing k help..have 3 ka
no normal in our forecast, west, even the 60s are a good 15 degrees above normal
we haven't had much humidity..I like that
ah, your rain must be heading towards us, Jen, we are supposed to get some tomorrow
mixi, sorry to hear about your car trouble - hope it is all fixed now!!
all except the AC. got a estimate for $1200. We may just fill it with coolant and let it leak, since we usually only use it for trips.
and west, I have exactly one k word, sorry!
this grid is not nice
egads, mixi, that is pretty pricey! I think I would do the same.
there are 5 ka words. Do you need a clue?
thanks sue and yes please mixi
we've been thinking to fill the AC up and trade it in....
I know , not nice.
I have ka 4/9 and 5/20 and 4/8
the ka 5,18 and 4/8
got the other 2..thanks
I have two ka4/8
plural the firt ka4/8
the 4/9 sounds like a nick name for Katherine
du6,27?
got them all, thanks west!!
means sweet
yw sue..do not like k words
thanks again west! (for the du6)
the very last k word is a physics one; the others are ones I don't know
ty west
I think I'm going to find a list bbs
babanon
I only want to get half way...
and now I am. egads.
is it bad that westford's icon looks like a martini glass to me
Half way is an accomplishment doing this miserable grid. Well done Sue.
that's the universe telling you that you should have a martini, kje
and thanks, molly!
I concur, uu
dish from the corner cart is here... corn with crema and chili
dc would know it
hello friends. this grid is making me CROSS. can't get NBT to save my life
what are you missing, trif?
it is a stinker, trif
(I do have nbs and nbt and am one word past half way, may declare victory and go to bed soon...)
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
I'm with TRIF. I'm 1 from 1/2 and 2 from NBT
I do not have nbs
hi min!
hi min!
if somebody want to clue up the U?
min - I love bach
ul4/6
I can't budge a bunch of numbers, which is not like me
toccata and fugue in d minor - brilliant
and I love Bach too! (took organ lessons for a long time; Bach is the hero of the organ!)
sorry, letters -- might be part of my problem!
Slim pickings for celebrity birthdays today, so I chose Bach.
better him than say... hilton ; )
clue for the 9?
thanks uu!
the 9 is related to what you have to do if your kidneys fail, but ends in the past tense of ingesting food
ty!
it is the fluid that the blood exchanges with
ah, didn't know that, kje! makes sense.
now I have nbs as well as nbt... and 60 left
is the lone e in the right column fishy?
no, trif (not to me, anyway)
ey4 trif.... babblet
fish me...sigh
It was to me Trif, I don't have babblets committed to memory
no fish... I have chicken tonight
but seriously, hitting with a chicken is much funnier
I am eating dinner from the gas station tonight
doesn't sound like much fun, kje (unless you are a car)
fresh made chicken tacos on small corn tortillas with cilantro, onion, and lime.... and elotes which is roasted corn on the cob with crema, oaxacan cheese and chili
elotes is in the grid today, but not accepted, sadly
ok, apparently "gas station" is code for "fabulous Mexican food".
nope, though I tried
kje is at the gas station taqueria again?
gas stations here have these wonderful taco stands and elotes carts.... ridiculously good and a meal for under $5
I have lactose intolerance. for me, the terms "mexican food" and "gas station" are indeed interchangeable
it is good, red!
I totally want to go there, if I am ever you way.
lol trif... you could eat these tacos... cheese is not common on them
bummer, trif, I love Mexican food!
I'm a big fan of the beans and rice thing.
real mexican is not as cheesy as Tex-Mex
they have a bean gordito, red
I love it too! just don't eat it on sleepover nights!
and they serve the gordito with a nice tart cabbage slaw thing
at 81 words in and I ave 2 gray boxes, not couting the U.
Trif, the nights that Colin sleeps over?
I have to ask for another clue, I am so sorry....clue for the o over the u please?
those are the ones, molly! Don't eat it when David Bowie is here either
fishy thing you say when you hurt yourself, trif
TRIF: ou4/7.
ou4/7 - ou4! I hit my head!!!
Trif, you are a considerate vixen. : )
ou4 I stink at babble! Thanks kje
yw
there's also an oc5/14 that has to do with eyes
thank you. nbt at last! time for ice cream, methinks!
so much for lactose intolerance... lol
how about the lone i under that U?
il4/8
its soy based ice cream
again uu...thanks, now I can quit with NBT/NBS and 1/2 done.
yay mitch!
it's a small accomplishment, but this one is too tough.
which brand, trif?
*Kicks grid in the shins and hopes for a better one tomorrow*
some pareve thing....
any clues for k words?
they are all ka, mkg
ka + not off
okay, the lure of the sheets calls me.....night all!
This is a very humorless grid today Molly. I have struggled for every word and see phantoms everywhere. going to watch the news and hope for something more uplifting.
misspelled salad green and plural
hi gmere!
and night trif!
Have a good night Gran Mere.
Hi uu. Have a pleasant evening.
ty got three of them.
clue for the u word? and of course i have no 7s, 8s or the 9
ul4/6, a plural
pl7/32: a bomb makes a big expl7/32
then take off the p, put an ec on the front for an ec8
the 9 is related to what you have to do if your kidneys don't work, as is the 7 (the 7 is a verb form)
ty. got the pl and ec
Good evening all.
dialysis not in grid.
no but you are close
As hard as this grid is, there is a fish in the lower right corner. pl6,24
Hello wht!How are you doing tonight? Welcome to the grid
take off the last two letters and replace with the past tense of eat
that's the 9; if you replace with a single vowel instead it's the 7
there arent two s in grid or an i. not getting the nine.
only one s in the di9
starts with a kidney thing... ends with a sa4 word
so what is the word?
ok ty got it.
wtg :)
any more 8s to clue?
i have all 8s
cl8? ec8? or no8?
cl8 is an adverb form of the cl5/16 (puffy sky things)
no8 builds off the no6/24
hmmm, can't get the ending
clue for ec8?
same ending as pl7, une
An ec8/45 has same ending as the pl7/32 word Uneaixoise
don't have pl7
no 8? i dont have no 6!
pl 7: There was a huge expl***** when that bomb went off.
no + not sharp but ***l knife + a vowel for the no6
hi folks - sure is nice here in calgary today, but snow tomorrow
Hello welki! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
tx cos
<-- thinks this grid is a groaner - no finishing this one
ok . . . now have the no6 . . .
ty for the no six.
tx for the pl7 min
ty but what gets added for the 8?
dunno
I can't get the 8 either, mkg :-(
yw
ok hmm
first 5 letters of the no6..... then not win, **** or draw
ha, got it! sugar ending!
sugar ending?????????????
tx!!!!!
well i am still not getting it
all the chemical names for sugar end that way (sucr***, fruct***, lact***, and so on)
now how about the ec8?
is the six there still or does anything get dropped?
the last letter of the six, mkg
ok got it. cute.
une, do you have the pl7?
yes
An ec8/45 has same ending as the pl7/32 word Uneaixoise
eculosion
just take out the u, une :-)
orry
sorry
whew ok tx!
Cos, bonus on Smash for me this week. My soap heart throb, Thorsten Kaye. : )
loved this week's episode!!!!
ooooh... was gonna watch that in a bit here...
ill google his pic first lol
there are a lot of very strange words in this grid (maybe the 96 I haven't found are all perfectly normal but I doubt it...)
ec8 cl8 no8 and ?
i have 84 let and i dont think even a list would help
55 left here
dunno, une, sorry!
to 8
to8 hmmm
'thorsten kaye?' i love that. I'm positive that's what his mother named him, molls.:D
lol mab. id love a name like that. i have a friend whos name is actually "skylar state" what a fantastic soap opera name that is
if i was introduced to your friend, cos, I no doubt would make an ass of myself by saying 'and what is your actual name?'
yaaa! i am getting our very first air conditioner EVER! if it is 27c in march i shudder to think what happens when summer actually gets here..the weather patterns are messed up! but canned air is a new and novel thing up here
Thorsten is real. Kaye is short for Kieselbach, his real last name.
hi, crossy :-)
Hello crosshair! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
So, your very first air conditioner?
That must be nice.
ah. probably jewish...
indeed molly and howdy suze
German actually Mab.
jealous of crossy always getting new things...
are you enjoying your new bedroom crossy? so pretty.
all the pedastal fans are shot this hear after heavy use and rather than spending 30 dollars plus tax times 4,i will save that 120 plus tax,add 100 dollars and get one of those new air conditioners that do not have to be haging off the window to work
ty mab,yes the bed is amazing and best of all it is all built locally from local material and using local workers...no tube framing made in some swat shop in cambodia
ok, I am going to go rot my brain watching TV. See you all tomorrow!
i should have known. never met a jewish 'Thor'. Thorsten is a great name, but i'll bet you get called 'Thor' all the time, like someone out of a Wagner opera.
Goodnight uusue2! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.
sweat
so true, fans always wearing out. and there's nothing like air conditioning when it's horribly hot.
there is a bit of a movement here with finances under pressure in many countries,to buy local, hire local and keep money in the country..it will help if enough avoid the temptation of cheap crap made in china that breaks in one year
i like to buy local too. feels like a good thing.
that mission bed cost me 1000 dollars and the sealy pillowtop materess was basically free
it is a good thing no matter where you live mab
Mab, should I have the pleasure, I would never call that swarthy man Thor. : )
Just off the phone with Mrs wht and her brother is doing real well and she will be coming home Monday morning.
maybe just 'darling'
That is great news.I didn't know your brother-in-law was ill
Good news Wht, glad to hear it. *read it*
Min, He was shot during a hold-up at work almost a month ago.
oh my goodness! how horrible! glad he's doing well.
My wife has been out there the last 3 weeks taking care of him. She worked for years as a visiting nurse, so was able to help out a lot.
oh dear. im glad he's doing ok.
OMG!Wasn't aware of that!Thank goodness he's recovering
i am glad things are looking up wht:)
that's so good: when one is seriously ill or injured, one needs an advocate. hospital staff always stretched too far.
So am I. He appears to be a very good at healing. Of course he has had excellent nursing care.
So did they catch & arrest the person who was responsible?
it sounds like he may have been shot in the gut?
Believe copay should be accepted as a word in today's grid.
agree
The robber hid in the store and came out after closing when they were putting the money in the safe. He threatened the assistant manager and Bob tried to knock the gun out of his hand. He was shot in the side but held on to the shooter as he tried to leave the store.
The police and the ambulance were at the front of the store by the time they made it that far.
wow! how brave!
Wht, I'm glad you are going to have Mrs. Wht home again. I'm sure you have missed her.
If copay isn't a word, why does my doctor always ask for it?
If it isn't a word, do we have to pay it?
Wow! How traumatic for your brother-in-law!Is going to go back to work in that store after he is all done recuperating
Yes Molly, I have missed her. I've managed fine, but it has been over 30 years since I lived by myself.
LOL wht! My doctor always seems to ask for one as well.
Min, he is planning to go back to work, for just a few hours next week.
Oh what I would do to have my hubby go away for awhile!
There has to be a better way than this, Min. :^)
Oh definitely wht! He was supposed to work tonight. I was looking forward to an evening alone and then he didn't go to work so I was totally bummed that he was home tonite.
i have a friend who lived with war almost all his life (eritrea) and he still hits the floor if a loud bang occurs. I hope Bob takes it slowly.
Post traumatic stress is hard to work through.
Well, he doesn't like laying around much. So I am not surprised that he is eager to get up and get going.
slowly is best, having to deal with scumbags with guns take it out of you(i have been in customer service over 30 years)
Worked my way up to when Columbus discovered America.
michael will always live with that war. other eritrean friends seem to be unscathed. resilience is interesting. sounds like bob is going to be of the resilient type.
Think stopping at a total of 1492 is a good time to quit this
Crossy, any kind of abdominal surgery takes it out of you, and he was in surgery several times. Plus the original wound. So I expect it will take a while for his stamina to match his desire.
#1 on the hit parade are corner stores stores and gas stations and i seem to gravitate to both;(
i am sure wht
wht,glad your brother-in-law is doing well.Now I'm leaving
Good Night Min.
give him all my best
Mab, blessings to Michael. What a hard thing to have to live with.
bye min
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I leave you with Jac's list in profile if anybody still needs to use it. See ya'll manana!
This was a large box store. Not what you expect.
Night Min
i've twisted his arm periodically for years over therapy for him. but no.
gn min
phantom: cellulose
big box stores are unusual targets, except by disgrunted ex employees
disgruntlerd
lol,i give up
Mab, some folks are resistant to therapy, for one reason or another. I'm glad he has a friend like you to lean on.
been too long a day dealing with citiots at my service station
Lookout, Crossy is a disgruntled Babbler.
Pissed off Cross. : )
Quick, send bacon.
mmm bacon...
I meant pissed off is easier than disgruntled.
to some degree i think it's cultural, but he carries a lot of guilt as he wasn't a fighter in the war. brother who was died in accident in sweden, where he went as a refugee, etc. poor michael.
it didn't take much to calm crossy
had a citiot fill his diesel jetta with high test and proceed to wine and complain about it, "well sir,the pumps are clearly marked, and you searved yourself,so i am sorry for you ruined engine"
well done wht
You just have to know the right tool for the job. :^)
i think i will bit you all a good night and speedy recovery to your family member wht
poiunk!'
sleep well crossy
ty Crossy. Have a good evening yourself in the balmy Great North.
(in your new bedroom with the a/c and i pad, etc.)

co + anagram of a King of France
No, c + the anagram
the nine looks like it might mean "kidney salt" di4 a phone + sometimes vowel + curvy letter + past tense to dine
what is it? i think some sort of indigestible middle eastern salad
it means the material that passes through a filter in artificial kidney support
Tor, it is a good shrubbery
i meant the co6. nice to see you stid. you do look a bit wan however.
Mab, it's nothing I would eat, for sure.
I am incognito, mab ((hugs)) and now to take my leave again... down to 66 and probably done for the night. This is a bugger of a grid.
bring us a shrubbery or we will say Ni
Ah, there we go Cos. : )
co6 is evidently pureed fruit or veg used as garnish. it is also the name of a restaurant in NOLA
hello Stid! Are you undercover? Keep well.
I think it's hiding in plain sight. : )
had to say something :)
*bored with colombian drug lords*

catching him wouldn't end things
