question... does anyone nocitce any different behavior in their pets?? ........... our cats are mewling constantly and will not leave us alone... the seem to want to be with my son.... constantly underfoot.... usually the4y are indifferent but the last few days th4ey are so , needy
ty cos
my animals are always needy so i havent noticed a difference
Hmmm no clue... I'd have to ask my dad and stepmom, because they have cats.
missing one W
no more than usual, sammy
Unfortunately I have no pets now :-(
Yeah. Jess is a good one to ask, being a vet. :)
Maybe some weather in your area, s'mom?
but not a behaviourist, neil :)
or 6/24
fix you up, jilli! need a little fluffy dog?
Well you'd probably notice if those you have around you were suddenly acting differently, Jess?
cos missing r is ry 4/6
ty dee got it!
they are always weird though, and easy to chalk up odd behavior to latest foster or something
yqw
Well yeah, I guess so.
do you have wr 5/22?
we4,we4 and ?
thanks! :)
it's not like i have any *normal* animals anyway :)
wr 5/22
yw
no thanks, jes -- I must remain pet-free now.
alrighty. you just sounded down about it, jilli, with the "unfortunately" comment.
stats for the lone o in the fourth column?
oy4 i think, roses
*note to self.. send CHia pet to jilli for xmas*
a rock is easier to take care of
got that Jess - must come from somewhere else. so many possibilities haha!
ob4 maybe?
i used to have pet planaria...they were pretty easy to take care of :)
yes. ob4 defintely.
Jes, I would love one but can't handle it now. What would have happened to the little fluffy dog when I was laid up and hospitalised with a broken ankle?
Hey ruru!
fireworks
well .. hi neil..where ya been
Yeah thanks cos it was ob4 - the instrument, and one of my favorites. such a lovely sound.
hmm. well, in the case of this little fluffy dog, when his owner was hospitalized, a co-worker of her son ended up with him, because the son was threatening to shoot the dog.
hopefully your family & friends would be less drastic?
haha -- I don't have a green thumb so probably would kill a chia pet.
Well, all, I need to get going.... another huge day tomorrow. Hugs to all!!!
sleep sweet, volley
Jes, I have no family nearby. Nieghbours were a great help but they have a cat and no love for dogs...never mind
ty dear jes!
toodles, dee -- enjoy the day!
ah. well, i'm glad you're out of hospital, and that you have friendly neighbors!
broken ankles are pretty much the suck!
Jes, I miss the Great Danes I used to have, and my beloved longhaired calico cat. Now I just enjoy visits from the neighbours' Russian Blue.
danes are such great dogs. such a shame they have so short a life expectancy
can your neighbor just find you a nice handsome cabana boy jill?
our daes were living to 11 or more -- the good breeders are working on longevity.
11 is great for a Dane
come on up, ruru, lol!
lol
I need a pool jilli
so do i, darnit
hello all - bit of a late start - could i have the stats on the 8 and the 7 please
11 is a pretty old dane. used to never see them older than 9
one of our line lived to 14, jes. The GDCof America is working hard on the challenge.
that's impressive
ti 7....... ursh... sorry.. i do not have the 8 yet
sorry, ursh, i haven't got either of the long ones
ty will look
gettin' to be bedtime around here. will get the last 14 tomorrow. sleep sweet all, and luck in the grid. :)
I have the ti 7 too, but no 8. Mitch posted a list in his bio and I will look to see what the 8 starts with (if I can find it!)
http://tinyurl.com/Stats-03302012
g'night jes xx
oh, thanks neil!
Sorry ru... was busy getting the list up.
yw, jilli.
Well, I've been around... just busy.
Not on so much at this time anymore.
oh.. well living comes first
Haven't Babbled that much either. My ranking's gotta be plummeting by now, lol.
Yep. :)
I was just in LA for a couple of days
I see the 8 is or8...
Living and working... whatever temp stuff I can get.
Oh yeah?
What part?
I stay on Sunset.. but I went everywhere
It was my BICL's birthday yesterday too, so partying this weekend. :P
We missed you, neil.
Staples center. burbank, Pasadena, Redondo beach Santa Monica..etc
Oh really? We're at Sunset & Orange! Shoot.
You did jilli?
Sure, neil!
Wow ru... you really got around. How are the knees holding up?
I stayed at the Sunset Towers.. that's my fave hotel
I see.
not that i was there very long.. my salesperson worked me to death
Well I'll try to get on here a little more often... but things are gonna continue to be a little crazy for a while, at least. See what I can do.
Oh yeah?
dee still here? if not, how did the move go?
and helloooo from down under.
Hi grannyrose.
I don't know. I was busy doing the list... didn't see who came and went for a while.
((((neil))))) how are you, buddy?
hi granny -- dee is very happy and very busy
I'm well thanks... and hope you are too?
thanx jilli, and hi
she left a little while ago -- another busy day tomorrow for her
Yeah. I got Dee's email with change of address.
hi granny
lol, neil, turned the big SIX OH on the weekend, came with the news i have a goitre and hypothyroidism...such is life.
that or8 is weird but I suppose it's reasonable
Oh Rose. Ugh. :/ Well belated Happy Birthday. But I wish it was a little happier one... hope they can do something about those issues for you!
How's your ankle these days, jilli? Hope those wounds finally healed up?
can't you take anti-biotics for goiter grannie
oh.. sorry .. that's another problem.. :D
neil, waiting to see if there is a trend, plus also testing for parathyroid and adrenal gland levels. have a conservative endocrinologist who doesn't rush into surgery..
I see, granny. Well hope it isn't too problematic for you meantime.
no anitbiotics for goiter -- iodine, and thyroid hormones
Iodine, yeah.
ususally you can take a pill for hypothyrodism
Gotta go for now though... sorry. Busy day ahead tomorrow, with too much to do. Good night to you all and take care.
neil the nkle is okay but the wound isn't quite healed yet -- getting regular treatment for it and it's a lot better.
night neil.. nice to see you drop in
night neil and thanks for your list
ah, well, neil...what can i do? have given up the smokes, stopped a long term medication ( which wasn't supposed to be addictive, but turned out it was) and have lost 9 kgs ( that's about 20lbs) in the last 3 weeks. doing all i can to help me...except give up work * grin *
wow, granny -- good for you!
lol, jilli, there's still a few to go, believe me...
well, time to call it a day -- nbt, nbs, over halfway -- goodnight all and ...*poof
nite, jilli, sleep well, hun
and g'night to anyone else lurking...happy babbling, see you at the flip
How many words today

morning babble friends
hi, sprite!
hi rbud :D
was sorta lurking and washing dishes in between
how mult-tasky and practical! I am playing babble... and the dog is lying between my feet. Does that count?
sure! mine is pretty much doing the same, only she's leaning a bit more toward the little space heater
she's smart :)
she does like her heat sources.
don't they all... Terra managed to find the only hotspot in the house yesterday... in a chair, in one ray of sun.
good morning
hey ruby :)
hi ruby! :)
[[SPRITE AND RBUD}}
whoops, didn't mean to shout
enthusiasm got the better of you
searching around a bit for a replacement battery for Hubby's electric scooter chair, not sure how much one will cost. He got the chair free when his brother passed away last year, and the battery won't hold a charge. All new to us, don't have a clue.
it's cold at the moment but the afternoons have been sit-outside fabulous. I know we need rain, but I am selfishly happy not to have muddy dogprints everywhere
nice chair, though he resents it a bit.
does your house have ramps, rbud?
can tell I need to find the model numbers, etc.
you should be able to find it through google. Either at the makers' or through medical sites. But yes, you will need model and make.
rain should fall at night, ruby.
well, house is sort of okay, it's a level shot down the sidewalk with only a bit of a bump to get into the living room. But he can walk with his cane, just needs it to go downtown now that they say he can't ride his mower everywhere.
darn town.
aww :( Must be quite a different feeling, driving your mower or a scoot mobile.
he left the chair covered all winter, doesn't want to be considered an invalid. was sort of down about it until he found out how fast it goes, haha! :)
it is a big step. I remember having to pick out my first cane. I cried in the shop. Really did, never expected to but it hit me hard.
but now the battery isn't charging, I want to try to get one fast so he doesn't go back to the mower and get in trouble.
sounds like a plan, rbud.
I can imagine how hare that is. When I had cancer, losing my hair was worse than getting the original news!
hard*
yes, I know what you mean, sprite. he's depressed enough, now they want to turn him into an invalid faster, it seems like to him.
silly, isn't it, ruby :) Things hit us at very unexpected moments.
how old is he, rbud?
I can imagine, rbud. I think you are going about it the right way, getting him a fast chair.
(((ruby))) (((sprite))) I feel lucky I'm still in mobile condition so far.
he's only 53, but has muscular dystrophy.
runs in his family.
aah, that explains it
we all have our crosses to bear, rbud, you too, no doubt. Am not complaining, life is good.
argh that is such a rotten condition :( Am sorry he and you have to go through that.
that's how I feel, sprite, every day is a gift, even with the frequent little tragedies
well, he hasn't been very steady on his feet for years now, so I've gotten used to helping him around.
we just keep on truckin'
yep, all we can do is all we can do! :)
hehehe yes every day is a gift. A friend of mine, who died way too young, always said: Life is a birthday cake. You just have to eat the candles once in a while.
and having our friends in here to listen and offer advice or a shoulder -- how lucky we are!
lol! :)
so true, I love my friends in here, and a few elsewhere online are quite dear to me also.
online friends are a class apart. I treasure you a lot.
it makes it much easier when we have to be at home to care for others
have one friend in Kansas I've never met, but we gab away and send cards and presents like relatives! :)
that is great :)
I think people who dn't experience "online friendships" don't really understand
no of course not. But once they'd be in a position they had to turn to them, it would become very clear.
this tiny grid is only half the size it claims to be, let me tell you.
it's true. sometimes it's so much easier to talk to people you don't "know", but who know what you're going through.
but I think it is easier for women than for men, as we tend to be more open
I am down to 7 left, thanks to the list in Bab Anon.
<-- nel, the sexist!
actually, I have lots of male online friends too. Depends on the man, I think.
I have found that, unfortunately, it doesn't work so well for me
ok will admit to not using a list yet. Still. very tight grid here.
when I was still working I had many male friends/clients, many of whom are still correspondents
my hubby can't quite figure out the computer, he's been trying more lately since I keep telling him he could be making money at it. He was always a big swap meet parts seller, but it's hard for him now. He can do it online, I tell him.
oh yes! He can really make money on line if he is willing to get into it. Some businesses are made for it. That one certainly is.
and there is a LOT of software available to make it easier.
he has piles and crates and boxes of motorcycle parts in three sheds, not to mention his big garage/shed he practically lives in. The place is stuffed with potential money.
that should be easy, rbud. Get him to make great pictures of each part on a digital camera as a first step. And then let him discover webshop software. It is made to be easy, to help people set up a webshop without knowing much about computers or the internet.
he may find that people will want his expertise as well!
that sounds like $$ in the garage!
first I have to get him to learn to run a mouse, lol!!
nah... start with the pictures :D And then... I think... find a game that amuses him. Best way to learn to handle a computer.
he insists on clicking the wrong button all the time. I think it's because he's left-handed, but he says he doesn't want me to change it.
he is ok. At least he doesn't point the mouse at the computer and handles it as a remote.
see yu later, ladies, only 37 words so far in this tough little grid
bye ruby, I only have 43, it is a stinker
bye for now, ruby
rbud: or find a MALE neighbourhood guy that gives computer courses and let him come over for a couple of lessons. That sometimes helps as well.
our son is a computer whiz, this online parts sale stuff would be a breeze for him, but they barely speak to each other, sigh...
good idea, sprite, I know just the guy, too, he could take the pictures, also.
aw :( See, we all have our crosses to bear. That is a sad one :( But sometimes it is easier for people to learn from a stranger. Especially for men.
or help your husband take the pictures. It would be great if your husband could do this himself for the most part.
have to take our son in for his weekend in jail in a little while, not sure if I'll try to sleep any before then or not. Probably should.
or have the guy help your husband take the pictures, I mean
*hugs rbud* Yes you should... but maybe it is just too hard to fall asleep.
yes, I agree, the more Hubby could do himself, the better he'd feel about it. We'd need a better camera, but this is a good time to get one, we have a little extra money.
digital cameras aren't too expensive anymore, unless you go for top end. And for webshops, any digital camera that has a good resolution will do. If you can, take one with an SD card, that is easy.
Hubby is all puffed up about getting a bike he rebuilt into his favorite magazine this last issue. Two pictures we took in the shop and a paragraph he wrote about it.
He is good at what he does, it's just getting harder for him to do it.
goooood! It is such a shame that when our bodies refuse to do what we want them too, we start feeling debased all over. I can relate, lol. I really hope he will find ways to show his talents again, no matter what the silly body does or won't do.
want them to* *jeezz typo central today*
oh, I'll keep him going, as best as I can. He has plenty of guys bringing bikes in for this and that, he keeps fairly busy. But the shop is more of a social club than a business, lol
back. Just checked on husband. I've invited his daughter to come and I think she'll be here mid-April
aybe it will cheer him up and she is a very easy houseguest
it is wonderful he is not getting isolated, though. And I really believe he can make a webshop work. Especially if he offers some advice too.
oh, then that will be nice, ruby!
that is nice, ruby. Isn't that the daughter who goes through your stuff though?
my husband only speaks to one of his 3 children, rbud, so I can imagine how hard that is for you
couldn't keep my hubby from offering advice, lol, he has an opinion on everything, and loves to talk to people.
Clue please for or 8/40
less of a problem now as we worked through many of our problems the last time she was here
that will pull him through, rbud, for sure :D And he has you at his side, that will make all the difference.
wtg ruby!
hello gran, can't help with that yet
I think she had better see her father now as I don't think he's going to get any better
and she has been very supportive
good news, ruby
or 8 is a woman who gives speeches, ends with tr6 that means hair
<-- no 8's or 7's
oops, tr 5 that means hair, sorry
talk about sexist!!!! lol
in Switzerland and Italy and maybe even here, they say Doctoress!
awful
I've never heard the or 8 before, but I guess it makes sense
Thanks and finished
different names for occupations for the two genders are growing less here
I don't think you could use that in the politically correct US
yay, gran, congrats!
well I would have to hear her first to know if she made sense, rbud :P
gratz gran
hint for the 7, pls, gran
haha, sprite! ;p
or even stats
stats would be nice :D
ti6/21 and pl, ti7/32
ti7/32 and good morning.
thanks rbud, and hi Haz, thanks :)
I got those out of the early chog - hi Haz! :)
gm, haz
ah got it, thanks again.
the ti6 rhymes with what you do to your ear to add an earring
Hello to all.
just couldn't stop without a hint, lol, see how I am?
ty for those ti's
*grins*
down to 27 here. It is a toughie!
did I kill the chog?
No, what you're hearing is the sound of concentration.
ah! It echoes.....
hi all - there is a list if you want one on Mitchdick's profile
hi Kazz, thanks :)
Hello, Kazzer.
hi Haz - how are you all today - getting back into the swing of things with babble etc after a lovely holiday in which i think hubby has got either bad heat exhaustion or the flu
now I have that song in my head. honor points for who knows which one... the trigger was: ...it echoes...
too bad he got ill, Kazz. But wonderufl you had a lovely holiday!
Whichever it is, Kazzer, it's a shame to end a holiday feeling ill.
whee - fireworks for me - off to look in the greenhouse and marvel at the radishes
Well done and enjoy the radishes!
wtg Kazzer and have fun!
pink floyd?
no, not pink floyd
I was out untangling dogs, we moved one to the back the other day, and he's taking forever to learn how to be on a cable instead of in a kennel. He finds the littlest vine to get wrapped around, and gets stuck in the bushes.
I'll ad a few words... it echoes... through the lonely....
add* a few words. Jeezzz I am typo central today.
hmmm.... not ringing a bell for me yet
maybe you don't know it. It is possible.
I think it is the same time period as pink floyd though. It is Al Steward, The Palace of Versailles.
Al Stewart*.
oh, no, don't know that one.
maybe Al Stewart never was that well known in the US anyway, I don't know. I love this song. I love many of his songs.
do you know "The year of the cat'?
I know the Year of the Cat, isn't that his?
snap, guess so! :)
good :D that was Al Stewart too!
:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvtLSky yMBE
brilliant lyrics.
ooh, historically inspired, sort of?
yes very. And how you can still feel the effects in nowadays France.
pretty
:)
wow, Al was sooo young! (weren't we all back then, wow, I was 22 in '79)
oh my... I was... 13!
heehee, was going through my drunk in San Francisco period
I gave up drinking over that summer, too much I did I don't remember, and that was all it took for me. didn't like the feeling.
I was pretty close to suicide back then... very bad childhood. Much happier now!
you rock, rbud. That was one helluva good decision.
upchucking on a cop's shoes was perhaps the high point, lol, didn't remember doing that! time to quit!
lucky he didn't run me in.
oops. Indeed :D
Did you give up alcohol completely or just cut down on over-indulging?
I only drank enough to not remember once... but bad timing, lol. It was on a party my ex threw. He had asked me to help. So I went... he mixed cocktails... several kinds of cocktails... and at some point, there is this big black hole in my memory.
I was already married and seperated, and ready to see the world. Went off to Frisco with a friend and had a great summer, once I gave up drinking. I never had much before.
and then... when the light upstairs went back on.. I wasat his home. Oh dear, I thought! Then I noticed I was in the guest room. Very good! I thought.
Oh, I still have a little wine now and then, maybe a mixed drink - about one every five years or so. Just not my thing.
any clues for the 7 and 8 please?
Then I saw him sleeping next to me. Oh dear! I thought. Then I realised I was still wearing clothes. Very good, I thought.
or8 - a lady who speaks with conviction?
haha, sprite, good story!
and then I stepped out of bed, found out I was wearing his judo jacket and his underwear... inside out. That was the point I realised nothing could save me. :)
thanks, I didn't know that word existed
ti6/21 and its plural ti7/32 - to rhyme with Mr Brosnan.
me neither, Ray. I had even tried the male form and dumped it as a phantom, lol.
ty again
You're welcome.
yay, fireworks! last word: tr6, the sometimes vowel added to the tr5 - another odd one
he was (and is) an alcoholic, rbud, so it was very good he was my EX. But he was a beautiful person and I can still love the person he should have been... before booze.
wtg rbud!
Well done, rbud.
those darn alkies can be very loveable, how well I know.
down to 6 and your clue is one of them, thanks.
often (I know, not always) they start drinking because they just cannot handle the harshness of life. They tend to be very sensitive and feeling. But things change drastically once they become addicted.
yep, I hear that. I've read that one sure sign of real alcoholism is a total personality change when overindulging. My hubby goes from jolly and mellow to mean and vindictive. We all try to divert him when it looks to be going too far, easier than dealing with the meanness. Quick, feed him, and he's done for the night, lol! :P
25 years of practice, sigh...
that is tough, rbud. I admire you for living with him. I decided I could not and would not.
fireflies!
Congratulations!
yay, sprite!!
good grid, this one! One with a bite.
thank you! Anything I can help with before I go?
yes, true! and easy ones I didn't see right away, due to odd letter arrangement
I missed easy ones too. And I learned new ones.
rats, feel a little poison ivy itch creeping onto my wrist from the dog untangling, off to clean it off
(((hugs))) sprite, thanks for the lovely chat! :)
I hope you can nip it in the bud. *hugs to rbud and Haz* Bye all!
Bye, sprite, bye rbud - and may your itch not need too much scratching.
Off I go to tackle the laundry. Bye!
nite all! think I got it in time - I use shop hand cleaner on it, works like a charm. (designed to remove tars, oils, resins - all of which is like poison ivy)
can't use soap and water, it just spreads it around. though I use the soap after the cleaner to get *that* off, yucky!
Could I pls have a clue for the Y? I have ye4/10 and yo 4/8. Ty

hi Ruby
hi hi no no
have 48 words but don't see any others......
ruby, Lickety's list is up now if that will help
I never use a list, rely solely on what is in the chog and my own (limited) capabilties
I try not to use it, but do sometimes if I get really close to finish
and I never finish!
syer
I used to finish when FM would help across....now, not

Good day friends.
Where is everybody? In the PB? At the breakfast buffet?
OK, I found 30 and that is enough. This is not a fun grid. Enjoy the day, lurkers.
I have not yet begun to lurk!
Hi Judi. Of course, I need to find "just one more word."
Always.
I can see why most people didn't hang around to work on this grid.
OK, I passed halfway, so I am done. Enjoy the day.
See ya, Scrabbs.
wow. monkeys found a word from the central r. nbt!
good morning all
Hiya, teach & uusue.
good morning everyone:) i start with an early tidbit of the day:) Canada is eliminating the penny as of the end of april 2012 production will cease http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/03/2 9/now-the-canadian-pennys-days-are-num bered-is-the-nickel-next/
they will remain in circulation as legal tender, but as banks get them in deposists, they will be side tracked and removed for disposal

Is tooo a word?
I'd be happy with just quarters - need them for the vending machines, ya know.
there is talk about getting rid of pennies and nickels.

hi, crossy!
it's orientation day for incoming transfer students. I'm sure we will have hundreds of would-be physics majors. (NOT)
but I am in my office anyway, maybe there will be one or two
lol,our wally-marts will have problems with the demise of our pennies at the end of next month.they will no longer be able to do"cutsey" pricing like $22.41 or $13.86 like they enjoy doing
my parents thought I would major in physics or math (many many moons ago). I ended up with a B. Music. you cna't win them all.
so,mixi at least you can sing about having money..lol
ah well - I did my advanced outside-your-major courses in music when I was an undergraduate - most other physics majors did theirs in math or chemistry
I did 30 years of computer programming an retired. now I just play piano.
and somehow the idea of walmart having problems does not fill me with dread
sounds nice, mixi!!
not i

wal*mart is going to be my new meighbor across the street. :-(
never thought of music in my life until the past 12 + years - now my retirment focuses around music - love it
ugh, mixi!
i actually take great pains to avoid the wal-mart store and buy products made here, with local shops hiring local workers who use local material..tired of all that disposable crap that gets shipped in steel cargo boxes from china'
ahh..music:) the universal language:))
maybe in a few years someone will want my property for commercial :-)
of course this is very hard to do with electronics
I played for church, weddings and funerals most of my adult life = constant butterflies. Now I play for shut ins in lodges and nursing homes and NO butterflies. ... a win-win situation !
nice, diane!
sounds good all around diane
also play in nursing homes, but also at music festivals - love it
so any music training can be so rewarding :-)
new icon is a bowed psaltry - spent last week at a workshop learning to play it
I'm doing piano 4-hands. 95% reduction of butterflies.
I never got past that nervousness, wv....
my two sisters and I used to do 6 hands... on one piano LOL
the one in the middle got elbowed from both sides.... kept her on her toes !
tee hee. not as much selection for 6 hands.
It's the same with singing... loved choir work but not solo work... was much happier with duets, etc.
as I recall, they were mostly Sousa marches !! lol
Ah. I heard a nice Rachmaninoff Waltz for 6 hands last summer.
6 words left... have to finish this and get outside... we finally have nice weather !
I already played tennis this morning. have to go kill some wisteria laster.

reading up on the technicalities of losing our penny.seems store pricing will not change prices can still be $22.63 or $18.91,it is just that the sweedish methond of checkout rounding will be used.if the purchace totals $19.94 ,it will be rounded down to $19.90 , if the total is $19.96,it will be rounded up to $20.00
need any clues, diane?
no thanks mix... monkeys are working great... 3 left :-)

ok babblers, opinion poll time! if i had some leftover (cooked) shrimp that i accidentally left out on the counter for a few hours, if i nuked the crap out of them, do you think they would be safe to eat??
I wouldn't
I'm with better safe than sorry on that one Eva.
And they would taste like rubber if you nuked the crap out of them.
yeah, i know. theres what i know i SHOULD do for my health. then theres what i wanna eat for lunch + the money i wanna save...heh
I woudn't either, Eva, besides they'l be awful if you nuke the crap out of them
This is one situation where 'waste not, want not' doesn't apply.
i've had food poisoning a few times....it's really not something you want to experience

*Pretends not to see Kap*
Hello, Kaplan.
FDA says never eat shrimp left out for more than 2 hours.
hello, haz.
Hello, TO! How are you?
i am fine and you?
I'm well. The weather tried to convince us that it was summer earlier in the week but I wasn't fooled. We're back to jumpers and scarves again but it's still nice to see the spring flowers.
same here. we werenearly 78 one day thenhad frost one night.typcial march
It was difficult to know what to wear when it was frosty in the morning and warm sunshine in the afternoon. Problem now solved, stick with the warm stuff!
Is work tolerable?
i draw the line when gloves have been put away for nearly 3 weeks and have to be dragged out again!
our weather is similar - we had a whole week in or near the 80s, now back in the 50s and 60s (still warm for March) and supposed to be 83 on Sunday, just in time for April Fool's Day!
no. but there is a glimmer of light. and frankly it is time to try on the idea of moving on.
(((TO))) sorry to hear you are having work issues - those are awful!
my best friend at work is leaving end of april
Hooray for glimmers of light - it gives you something to aim towards.
Will your friend leaving be kind of the last straw?
ha, got the 7, nbt!
well it will be ok, i am now working for someone who used to be a goodfriend, and though i am working though some awkwardness, i am trying to be the sane one for her sake.imagine that! :) she has quite a collection of miscreants to supervise.
and has been open with me about it. i feel for her.
It's good that you're at the point where you can sympathise, I'm sure she appreciates having somebody trying to be on her side.
supervising sucks. I was never any good at it and am glad I am not doing it any more. Hope it works out between you and her, TO!
still i am trying on how nice it will be to be home. an to work for a bit of $ and to finance traveland stuff.
with our new work schedule i can be off one day every week and work one every two weeks at home if ai like
That sounds great!
It would put a bit of variety into your work week and less commuter type travel has to be a bonus.
ok, I am going brain dead. Filled my mug with water and sat it on my desk - it's not going to turn into coffee unless I heat it up and add, well, coffee!!
yes, gas is very dear now
Maybe once in a thousand years that water might turn to coffee but I'd try the coffee jar first.
really. :)
ok,time to go takemy auto test drive and collect my $50visagiftcard. I waited untilt he last day of course. :/
The government here has caused a huge row - tanker drivers which deliver petrol were threatening to go on strike. The government suggested people should fill up their tanks AND some idiot suggested storing petrol in containers. Result - mass panic at petrol stations and we've now had one woman with serious burns as a result of trying to decant petrol indoors.
oh my!
Sometimes you wonder if politicians engage their brain before they open their mouth.
I wonder that a lot.
sorry all,it's been a while since i have been and nice to see you. happy babbling
And now the union involved has said that they won't strike in the very near future, certainly not until after talks after Easter.

haz:how many mega millions lotto tickets shall i buy for you?;)
3,5,0000,00000 at least.
Okey dokey then and i willhold them and check them against the numbers for you ;)
It's funny, when Britain first introduced the national lottery, I was convinced it would be a one hit wonder and nobody would waste their money when the odds were so clearly stacked against winning. I was wrong! I also thought mobile phones would have limited appeal.
Thanks, TO, I appreciate it.
any time ;) Bye!
Toodle-oo!

computers
I'm of the generation where the only gadgets at school were the slide rules for the clever maths students.
the MM jackpot is now up to 640 million. the payout AFTER taxes would be over 300 million, which is more money than the next largest previous entire jackpot was. youd better bet we bought a few tickets!
Ah, so tht's why TO was offering to buy me a ticket.
hehe, yes. its rather historic. im not going to waste a lot of money on it, since your chances dont really increase, but i can pay a dollar for a chance at winning several hundred million!
It only takes one ticket to win.
exactly, molly! and i think they have estimated the chances of SOMEONE winning this one at over 90%
That kind of money is unfathomable. I hope whoever wins it does a lot of good with it.
I hear that winning a lot of money ruins people's lives but I sure would like that opportunity.
Yes, I could do with having my life ruined like that.
that's one of my favorite pasttimes
thinking of what i would do with that kind of money
we were talking about it at lunch the other day. most of us agreed that we would definitely give a large portion to charity, set up some sort of scholarships/trust funds, etc.; use some to help our families; blow some of it on silly fun stuff; invest some of it... but still, theres SO MUCH left!
my brother lives in las vegas,he is buying a ticket for me:))
No, that amount of money would frighten me, it's just too much.
I don't even WANT that much money. Too much trouble. I'd settle for a million or so.
haz, think of all the good you could do, especially if you didnt want to keep it for yourself! pick your favorite charities and donate it all -- anonymously!
Although I'm sure I would find out about a lot of relatives I didn't know I had :-)
That would be the thing, EvaN, I'd feel responsible for making sure that the money was spent/invested wisely so I'd end up worrying about it.
hello friends. quick check in during a break. ah, dreaming of the jackpot, I see? is it too late to buy a ticket?
my one coworker said he would go to the mint + have them give him his money in sheets, take it to a tailor, and have a suit made out of it. lol
ugh, not very comfortable, evanadine, but a funny image, to be sure!
not too late, trif! drawing is tonight. :)
oh, the good I could do with that amount of money!!!!
Hello, Trif.
hello haz, how lovely to see you! been a while
Is it just one ticket that wins the whole amount or can other people win smaller amounts as well?
I know, Trif, I've not been on much in the British afternoon. Hope you're well.
there are smaller prizes for matching most of the numbers. and multiple people COULD win the main prize if they play the same numbers. then youve just gotta split it.
I am well enough, upright and able to take nourishment, as my dad says
splitting it would be fine with me -- take some of the heat off!
hi trif!
I suppose there are scriptwriters waiting to write the story if one person does scoop the lot.
and hi eva!

Quite right. There are times when you have to put your foot down.
I'll get a full report when they get back
Please let me know how they got on, I'll be interested to hear their thoughts.
I was lurking for a bit and have a lottery story from our little state of Rhode Island
i did NOT, molly. clearer thinking prevailed.
Do tell, westford. (and a sigh of relief for EvaN)
an 81 year old woman from Newport stopped at the market to get some sherbet, bought a ticket on a whim and won $336 million
hello. I am back from aerial and the grid is still terrible.
I love stories like that Westford.
a few weeks later someone a mere $60 million..also from RI
That's a lot of money to get on a whim. That's amazing.
there was a guy who followed around lottery winners and wrote a book about it, and within a couple of years most of them wished they had never won.
I think she took a one time payment and after taxes has $210 million..not bad
Because he kept following them around?
she did the smart thing and didn't come forward until she had consulted lawyers and set up a trust
count for the r second row, second column please ?
I'd get fed up if someone kept following me around.
the trust is called The Rainbow Sherbet Trust
That IS the smart thing. And I love the name of her trust fund.

I was vacuuming under my car seats in my dirty car trying to find a fountain pen that I lost a few weeks ago
and I found a fountain pen that I lost a few years ago.
????????????
There is a lesson in here somewhere but I don't know what it is.
The pen I really want is the one I lost a few weeks ago, replacing the one I bought in Vegas
Which I gambled on because I didn't know if it would work but it was the model of a 1950s pen that I had that needed repair
At least you found something?
so I got the pen repaired in NY (are you following me) after I lost the Vegas pen, so I have a model of the 50's pen
but I would have had two of them.
OCD is not a pleasant illness.
The one I found is not a Shaffer, it is a Lamy which is not as nice.
I never heard of someone getting a pen repaired
New York Fountain Pen Hospital.
It's on the Lower East Side.
when you start talking brand names on pen, I'm lost
They repaired it because it is a good pen, as opposed to some of my old fountain pens which are pretty but not worth repairing.
Shaffer snorkel model. I lost the fine point, and have the medium point.
Ah, pickles is not a pen maven.
My dad when he was kind of losing it at the end bought a Mont Blanc for 2 or 3 hundred bucks.
i do like a good fine point though
It is a BROAD point.
I still have the Mt Blanc.
I thought about selling it.
I think $5 would be a lot of money for a pen unless its a present and then maybe $20
The fine pen market is something else. People focus on pens for many reasons.
One may be because it is too hard to think about global warming.
That's a theory anyway.
my dad had a pen/pencil collection,,,, we are still just looking at it in amazement.... what to do??
See what they are, and look on e-bay. It will while away an afternoon.
yeah..... it would
we have some of them ~~
My dad collected a lot of things. The pen collection did not get massive however.
ohhhhh,,
I have to zip off. Be back later- maybe I'll finish the last 13.
10,000 + pencils,,,, an estimate.... they had to have an advertisement on them
10,000 pencils? That is way worse than my matchbox collection.
I prefer foreign (to me) matchboxes with illustrated labels.
Where did he keep the 10,000 pencils?
I know!! and he had a partner in crime,,,, that family doesn't know what to do with their collection either
Families inherit collections. It took years to properly dispose of my father's stams.
stamps even.
BBL
Send me your matchboxes.
oh,, he built a cubbie hole cabinet,,, they are filed by city and state....
Wowee.
that's the first time I have heard of a pencil collection.

try anything! that's my motto
heh. have you discovered that there are a billion ways to spell that guy's name that starts with lo?
anyway, looks like i need to go figure out why my receptionist can't find the chart for my next appointment.
I had an uncle by that name
later kids
ha, I used to be married to him, jes :-)
he spelled it the French way.

Bye jes
my ex spells it the Portuguese way.

sy4 is a scots word for green onions (I had to look it up)

ro4/4
ra4/4 and ra5/10
ah, thx for the re5/12
looks like i am looking for the re5/10 and re5/12 and the ry4
well there are three Rs in a row so the two to the right are kind of extra
ry4 is like a ri4 disorder and fighting
one from each r then; no extras :)

Hi GE, family time is always good for the soul. : )

waiting for my husband to get ready to go out
Where are you going Pickles?
fireworks! last word was tr5/18
we usually see a movie and have dinner on Fridays
congrads, uu, i think its a hard one
That sounds nice. I love your icon. Bluebirds are very special to me, it's a thing with my ex who passed away two years ago.
I"ll take any clues you got
bluebirds for my brother
hmmm, anything in particular you are looking for, pickles?
Nice story about your brother.
the 7 or 8, i've got 71 left
The 7 is a plural of a ti that sounds like what you do to your ears to wear earrings.
ti7/32, plural of ti6.21, builds off ti4/4 (although not related to it)
or8/40, woman who speaks publicly
catching up...congrats sue! hi molly and pickles
hi, good
i love rhyming clues!
oh, the last 5 letters of the 8 are a word in themselves meaning strands of hair
got 4 words out of 2 clues, economical
and with that I am off, see you all tomorrow!
bye sue
Cough, splutter, sneeze, cough cough cough, snuffle sniff... Enter Soodle, suffering from an uncommon cold. Ringing bell... calling 'Unclean unclean' and saying a nasal Hi to everybody. (Now THATS what I call an entrance to the chog).
Erm.. I have a cold. Perhaps my last post was a bit over dramatic. Its not contagious through the 'puter. Speak to me, Babblers!!!
hi soodle :)
sounds like you have what i had. i dubbed it MegaCold.
Oooh Hursh. Thank you. I was fearing I was invisible.
i think nobody's here, that's all
Nope. Nobody here ..
if a soodle enters an empty chat room and no one sees her, is she invisible?
oh it's tor!
how have you been torgone, haven't seen you in ages!
Hey Tor :-)
I'm ok .. Fighting off a staph infection ..
aren't we a healthy bunch
Yup
Snuffle...
back again, hi all newcomers :)
Tor, pardon my ignorance, but what is a 'staph' infection?
stapholococcus is a family of bacteria
Bacterial infection of the skin
you pick them up a lot in hospitals
Hmmm. Sounds unpleasant
Unpleasant is the word ..
iatrogenic or nosocomial
Tor, I am a martyr to psoriasis. I feel your pain.
Not an infection, I know, but a skin complaint nonetheless.
Neither ..
(had to look those up)
hello BabbleRabble. I haven't 'seen' you for a long time. I hope life is good for you. I am happy to see you.
evening everybody!
Heya bit!

think of what you do to your ears, mkg, then replace the p with a t - that's the 6. Plural for the 7.
TO my ears?????????? i wash them. otherwise i ignore them.
do you wear earrings?
i dont do anything p with my ears....yes i have earrings in them. i put them in. i take them out. so?
if so you may have done this to your ears, but only once
Mkg, peope do this to their belly-buttons, their noses, their unmentionables....
