i do a light saute in olive oil with a tiny bit of garlic and a light squeeze of lemon.

red wine, of course

{{{{{ruby}}}}}} you still here?
and, jilli? sleep well, hun
came back, hoping to see you
I am getting the silent treatment today
very unpleasant
but it's sunny and gorgeous and the handyman is working in the garden, so it's not all bad
he got angry with me because he woke me up 3 times during the night, moving around, having trouble sleeping.
He takes multiple naps during the day and evening and then can't sleep at night.
I merely want my 8 hrs, 12-7AM plus a one-hour nap. I don't think that's unreasonable
lol, same here with mother mac...can't seem to convince her to stay awake during the day, would help her sleep better during the night. " i'm just resting my eyes" yeah, right, and you mearly fell out of your chair because?????
I think morther mac and my husband are about the same age (86?) and I understand how difficult it is for them but please, don't take it out on me!
ruby, not ureasonable at all.
nothing wrong with small naps, but not 3 hours at a stretch
we were supposed to buy a new (small) car this morning to replace our 15-yr-old one but he said "you go alone!" Instead, the salesman is sending me an estimate
oh, yeah...mother mac 93....and she does take it out on my hubby....poor man....he gets a break next week when she goes into respite for 7 days.
what's respite?
sounds like something I need!
"groan" why do youn have to make the decisions? and is he going to live with it, without complaint? oh, no. you will never hear the end of it...
no, I will get the estimate and let him make the decision
not that I'm incapable of buying a car.....
respite....the cared for person goes into a full-care facility, for whatever period of time, thus giving the primary carer/s time-out from day-to-day care-giving
don't forget that I was alone for many years between marriages and managed quite well, thank you
I would love to go someplace and be taken care of for a change!
this is the only time when i have a husband...in the fullest sense of the word.
that is loevely, though
ruby, anything like this available where you live?
that you still want a husband, even with your bad knee!
I don't know and doubt that he would go voluntarily anyway. He doesn't see himself as being cared for, calls me selfish and lazy
ruby, i am so lucky...to have found love of such depth and limitless at my age....i am a very fortunate lady.
today he made his own breakfast for the first time in more than 3 months, to spite me!
you are, rose, but you deserve it!!!
nah, my dear, kiss him, and tell him how great you felt, that he could do this simple task for himself.
I don't have it left in me; I am tired of apologizing for things I haven't done. I'm afraid it's too late for that
wyte
sorry
do you have clues for the 8 and 9 or even stats might help
never too late, my dear....we are the female of the species....we teach the males how to behave, remember?
I guess I've forgotten LOL
he8, female chicken + ***en(female royalty) + second vowel, then plural for he9
so sorry, forgot, add single hump after female royalty part of clue
ty, got them, now I'll look up the meaning
I guess I'll have to start weaving my own rope LOL
ruby, if it helps any, i apologise so many times, for things i have/have not done/said. it's the acknowledgement of how they are feeling which is what they are looking for.
but you have a kinder heart than mine, rose
this just wears me out
of course not ruby, we are sisters under the skin. use the force, sweetheart. ( from star wars)
gino
nope, ruby, not allowed
73 words and for nbt, I need the 2nd column lonely e.....
ey4, ruby
eyro
well, that's not it, lol
RUBY....LOOK UP!!!!
got it, those monkeys are so smart
lol, dear, ey + wind direction
yay ruby
how are you doing with the 7's?
have 2 of them, but don't really care much
feel like going back to sleep
okay, my dearest friend.....hope you can sleep. see you at the flip
or shall i clue?
thanks for listening to my whining
oh, one bright ray, Rufie has stopped biting me
np's ruby, just everyday sort of stuff.
and has practically doubled in size, so it's a lucky thing!
well that's a positive, isn't it?
yes, he's really a darling and a great source of pleasure (actually, to both of us)
there yougo, a shared interest again....dwell on it, sweetie
there's only 6 x 7's. ne7, ne + round vowel + number after nine + sometimes vowel
it won't accept po4.7y!
Hi Ruby & Rose and all
{{lynxx}}
ph6, ph + sometimes vowel + heavy weight, then plural for ph7

Hi everyone. I haven't played for a very long time. Can anyone tell me what happened to the pro feature with the clues in the sidebar?
qu7, past tense of female royalty
rh6, rh + sometimes vowel + large weight, then plural for rh7
hi Alexis. Are you talking about Lickety? or perhaps something DrG was developing?
plural for the distillate is very twisty
where is soodles when we need her?
I'm not sure. I just remember that there were clues to the left of the board.
ty for all those 7's, rose, now my board looks respectable
could I get another clue for po6, please?
You may be talking about Babble Expert - something Lickety developed
lyn, surgeon and i discussed at great length....it seems to be a new aspect of my fibromyalgia. :(
hi marc
hi ruby
Yes lynxxx, it was babble expert. I don't seem to have it anymore
marc, po6, po + age between 12 and twenty
oh no, fibromyalgia must be terribly painful!
Irish moonshine
Alexis - email MrPresident to get the new version of Babble Expert - however be aware that the clue list is always there everyday - life has got very busy for them
thanks got it
That doesn't sound like something surgery is going to fix - forever?
Thank you lynxxx. It's been years since I've played. Now I remember that I did email him before for that.
sorry Alexis - the clue list ISN"T always there every day
ruby, it seems to be a disorder of connective tissue, and as most of our bodies are connective tissue( in one form or another) it effects just about all bodily systems
and you are so young, rose!!!!
missing one 7, have ph7, po7 x2, qu7 and rh7. What am I missing?
ne7
marc, ne7, ne + round vowel + big weight + sometimes vowel
ne + 4th vowel +number after nine + somtimes vowel (rose's clue)
snap, srose
thanks got it
ruby....perhaps i could place the blame on a very stressful first marriage.....not sure of the answer...but i was already suffering from it before my divorce
I THINK PAST STRESSES COME TO THE FORE EVEN AFTER MANY PEACEFUL YEARS
yay, marc
didn't mean to shut
or even shout
lol, ruby, i know my dear
did someone mention an rh 7 ?
and rh8
rh +sometimes vowel + hevy weight
could i have a clue to the 3rd letter
rose's clue, again
thxs ruby = how are you at the mo
enjoying this late-arriving spring
got fed up with housework and have only done half of the kitchen and one lot of washing - but got visitors later and it needs to be done
not so many flowers but it's as green as Ireland
its windy here but warm and sunny and it might be good all weekend
it was the rainiest April and early May as we've seen in 15 years!
swin
I think some places here beat their all time records for rainfall and the crazy thing is we still have hosepipe bans in some parts of the country cos it rained too hard - no chance for it to soak into the ground
they had been having a terrible drought throughout France, os it was a good thing
dear riends, fading away here....getting a tad late. hope you have fun babbling and chatting. and ruby? remember , we are the stronger sex.
BBL
g'nite, dear Rose!
night, lyn, have a good one.

Hmm, I did not know that Bess's partner is acceptable.
a po5 is a fish, variant spelling
Variant spellings are a Babble specialty.
... it had to come from somewhere for the character to get the name
... my favourite this morning may be "like a Chinese dynasty famous for vases" ...
Okay then, Mr. Smarty Pants, explain Beavis and Butthead
... I'll bet they're rude ...
the vase "word" is capitalized and not accepted
... but being like it isn't
the hawaiian is not a phanthom, I just found it
*bird, that is

The 8 and 9 are not worth finding. What stupid words.
Not worth finding?!
Just a little joke

I might find them worth it :)

ty ladies, and sounds like a fine retirement plan to me suze;)
no, my grader is already back in India for the summer, and I always grade the exams myself anyway
and for a bit of travel suze, look up our rocky mountaineer train trips.you can see some of the best that canada has to offer from a old style train trip and just bring an ebook reader and a friend and yer all set to fill your retirement requirements
topsy. as in topsy turvy.
You're a prize! my profs were constantly pawning them off on me to grade, not necessarily to post, just grade and comment. :\

it's a hawaiian goose (the ne4); I have actually seen them (in Hawaii)
ahhh! that's the hawaiian goose! people use it in clues a lot too, so that's good to know...
okay, today's fake made up NOT-IN-THE-GRID word is: de5: when you give back the covers after ho3-ing them all night long
cute, via :-)
okay, time for more coffee and then sleep. whoops, I mean work. Yes, work...
I like your icon sue. I could not see supermoon; it was cloudy.
thanks, via, it was cloudy here too. Full moon next month will only be 1% smaller.
Yay for the fake, made-up not in the grid word, dehog!
:) there's also eensy, but I don't want to start another itsy bitsy argument...
oh, that's good, Sue. I don't think my eyes are good enough to notice a 1% difference.
<---In the itsy bitsy camp, and proud to be there.
how about duck duck goose vs duck duck grayduck? that is a Minnesota thing. And parts of Wisconsin.
Duck, duck, greyduck? : O
yes! we defend it very passionately. The goose camp people tells us, "It doesn't make any sense!" As if a goose makes sense!!!
I once saw a man killed over the issue...
We do grayduck in North Dakota, too. :)
yay remluc!!!
Then there is the different factions of the ending of the ABC song.
tell me more, Molly...
:)
<-- did not really see a man killed over grayduck
I used to wonder why N was in the alphabet twice... "W, X, YNZ..."
First of all, there is the whole zee vs zed thing which I find hysterical. Then there is "next time won't you sing with me vs. tell me what you think of me?"
tell me what you think of me? that's just asking for trouble. I vote sing with me.
Canadian husband: Well, we refer to the letter as zed, but the kids sing zee in the song. Really?
that is strange... but I guess zed doesn't rhyme
personally, id rather people sing with me than tell me what they think of me. but what really baffles me is why the song is to the same tune as twinkle, twinkle, litter star. couldnt we be a bit more creative?
anyway, now that we have cleared up these important issues, thankfully without any bloodshed, I shall be off...
No, zee is the universally accepted pronunciation of the letter. Neener.
Oh, they will be talking on Facebook now. : P
*poof*
back.
just caught up with the chat while I was gone; "greyduck" is the MN accepted ending for Duck, duck, greyduck, but why would someone kill another over that?
And as far as the ending for the alphabet song; I always thought the "tell me what you think of me" was for the small child to say (because Moms are supposed to say "Wow, what a smart child you are!" right?); plus most of the younger kids I've known don't want you to sing it with them when they're singing it.
ok, I had better go get dressed and have some breakfast, I am not quite retired yet!
nef -- thats why i think they add the "next time" hehe
clue an5 10 plz

Annoying too.

howdy peri
so I took my exams (the multiple choice sheets) to the department office yesterday morning and asked them to take them to Testing Services to be processed (which usually takes an hour or two; they are very fast). This afternoon, still no tests. Turns out one of them put a note on the envelope, another one put in in the campus mail, and they are sitting around waiting to be delivered on Monday. Which won't work, as the grades are due on Monday. So the office manager, bless her heart, is driving out to Mail Services, picking them up, and delivering them to Testing Services. I should have them later this afternoon.
If you are riding a young horse, you are po*****

I am good, Katie! Just finished grading my last exams, got all my grades recorded - I am DONE!!
Yeah - well done you
and I am retiring at the end of June, so I am REALLY done!
Oh that is REALLY done. Are you looking forward to it?
Absolutely. I plan to relax, read a lot, do some traveling, get my house in shape, attend lots of concerts, and so on.
I also finished the grid earlier, in case you need any clues.
That sounds lovely I could do with retiring, however I'm thinking that 44 is a little early :)
probably - I'll be 61 and even that seems a bit soon (but I am ready!)
I don't think that is too soon, you want to be able to enjoy yourself. Think of all the vacations you can have - Mari has hardly been in the country since she retired
I am thinking about doing a Babble grand tour later in the year - drive all around the US and Canada and visit lots of Babblers :-)
wow that would be fantastic
We are coming over to the States for my first ever visit this year, I am so excited about it
oh, cool! Where are you going?
New York, Niagara, Lake Erie, Parkersburg and Nashville (oh and the airport at Pittsburg).
Hi everybody :-) Katie, that sounds like the trip of a lifetime.. Lucky you.
Sounds great! Niagara Falls is amazing.
hi soodle!
Hey Sue ((()))
Hi Soodle, yes we are very lucky. We are going to do the maid in the mist at Niagara but have booked a lovely place for that night in lake erie so we are likely to only spend a few hours there taking photos and being in awe
Katie, I am GREEN with envy! Will you be able to hook up with any Babblers on your travels?
Hi babblers!
Hey Jilly :-)
hi jilly!
I'm not sure to be honest. We are only in NY for 2 days however there was some talk about trying to do something in nashville
Hi Jillyjill
Oh, you should try to organise a Babble meet up. (Don't know why I am suggesting that, I always feel very peeved when I read about Babble meets!!).
Hi Soodle, uusue and katie!
*Just hangs around, whistling*
hi, Molly!
Hi Sue
((((Molly)))). I'm not sure if your mom is still around, but if she is, she is immortalised as Whistlers Mother!!!
No, she's not. And she preferred to be referred to as "my Sainted Mother".
Well, I'm sure she would be tickled pink to be also known as Whistlers Mother. Bless her.
I also would like to be referred to as 'My Sainted Mother', but I fear that some other label will be attached..... Like Mad Old Bat........
I don't think I want to be referred to as a sainted anything. Too out of character.
Hmm, lets see. I am referred to as Mom, Ma, Madre and Moms. : )
I am usually referred to as hey-mom-can-I-have-some-money :-)
My young lad always refers to me as, and addresses me as Mudder.
LOL Sue...... that too!!!
Well Sue, I hope your young man has something nice planned for you on Sunday. You certainly have been there for him this past year.
My offspring are not as direct as yours, Sue. I get asked for 'a loan'.... Sadly, the concept that 'a loan' implies repayment has eluded them....
brb
my son would take me to dinner , but frankly i just cant afford it!
Oh.... of course... American Mother's Day on Sunday!! We had ours about 6 weeks ago.
Oh Ivesy, you too. You have been there for your boy. I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day, dear Ivesy.
LOL Ivesy...
ty molly , and i wish you have a wonderful day.my present is jason being drug free.
Yay Jason! You keep it up!!
:)..
Ah, that is a very good gift.
Hi again. Looks like a lot of moms on now!
yes , it is. and i am very grateful.
and that's a wonderful gift, ivesy!
I'm going to do a Tiny Tim on it now.... stand by with your Kleenex............................... ........................
Hi Nef
God bless all mothers, one and all...
God bless us, every one. *Passes champagne*
hmmmm love champagne... ty
great performance, Soodles!
Yay!!!! And bless Molly for bringing the champers!!!!
Ivesy, is Jason your only child, or do you have more?
Thank you Nef. I will be signing autographs in the PB later...
*Puts out shrimp and cocktail sauce and hot crab dip and crackers*
You're a great hostess, Molly.
jason is an only child soodle, though at times it seems i have 10
ha, I know how that feels, ivesy!
:)
whups, better run, Frank has a meeting and I said I would be there - see you all later!!
Proposing a toast to all Babble Moms....... Bless you all!! (pass the crab dip,please...)
and i too have to run... hagn all, or day wherever you may be!
my son made me very old when he was between the ages of 18 and 21, ivesy. He got scared straight when he was sent to maximum security at the state pen (minimum security was full) for his screwing up probation. Best thing in the world for him
Bye Sue & Ivesy. Happy Mothers Day to you.
*Clink* Oh Soodle, all that shrimp and crab dip and just the two of us.
I'm still here, Molly. Just slow at typing (specailly since I typed in the wrong box again)
Geeze Nef, what a thing for you to go through.
Way Hey Molls....
Molly, we got through it with lots of prayers and tears and anger, and support from friends.
But he is on the straight and narrow now, Nef, is he?
Kind of the way life is, isn't it? I take things on the one day at a time basis.
Good Nef. Support from friends is a Godsend at times like that.
He is, Soodle. Still a bit of a ditz at times, but a great father and works very hard in his job.
hi nef and molly
I just can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must have been for you Nef.......
Hi Jilly! How are you doing?
Hi Jilly
Pretty good, final results from Mayo indicate Alzheimers for hubby...*sigh*
Oh Jilly, I'm so sorry. My Dad had Alzheimer's.
Soodle, there was so much going wrong in our lives at that time; --but we got through it.
Oh Jilly. How devastating. (((((((((Mega hugs))))))))))
Oh, no, Jilly. I was praying it wouldn't be that
And hubby is 56...thanks soodle...
Is he on meds now?
So was I Nef...we will probably be back at Mayo within next year and a half...will put visiting you on the list..yes he's been on Aricept now for a year.
JIlly, is he aware of the diagnosis, and the implications?
is it helping? And yes; next time let me know!
Oh yes, has a great attitude
Jilly, I hope you have a good circle of support. That is a hard thing to go through with someone you love.
Yes it seems to be...
#1 son is visiting now, I have, unfortunatly, found too many friends who no longer socialize with us...but I also have a tremendous group that support me and him
I'm glad for the ones that support you Jilly. I saw that happen with my parents too. Friends dropping out of the mix. People just don't know how to deal, so they don't. Which is sad.
*sigh* that it is molly...
I will keep you and your husband in my prayers, Jilly.
I think sometimes people don't know how to react to bad news; and that's why they back away. I always want to tell them It Isn't Catchy!!!! When that happens
Thanks Molly
And you do know that you and your hubby are on my prayer list too
You know what Nef? I'm not nice about that anymore. I think that is a chickenshit way of dealing with things. Especially when you have a friend in need.
LOL...you said it all Molly!
At least send a card for goodness sakes.
Thanks Nef, I really feel supported by all my friends here in babble...
very true, Molly. But some peoplereally just don't know how to deal with stuff; and maybe they are better not in one's life anymore?
(Someday they might be very lonely themselves....)
Nef, that's exactly how I've dealt with it...sure you have been thru that with DH
You have a point Nef. Better to be surrounded by those with strength, than those who will just flail, not knowing what to say or do.
yep. That's it exactly, Molly
An awful lot of people suffer from the Ostrich Syndrome. Stick their head in the sand, and everything is fine.
That is true Soodle. I found that out the hard way, when my husband died.
Our friends we have now (with DH's illness and memory problems) are our rocks of Gibralter. THey are there through thick and thin
I'm glad you have good friends to lean on, Nef.
I think people forget how all of us have things to deal with...and possibly they have their own fears of it happening to them..
Either that, or the 'Head on one side syndrome'. I used to meet acquaintences in the supermarket, and invariably, they would put their head to one side and say...'How are you?'. Absolutely fried my brains!!
People are too human.
Jilly, surround yourself with friends, both those that are old and the ones you will meet along the way. You need time for yourself too
Here I have been keeping my big fat mouth shut about the supermarket, and she brings it up. : P
Drowning in trivia.
What's up with supermarkets?
WhatdidIsay?
I hear you Nef...I am going to a Christian Music Festival in July...always wanted to go, but hubby doesn't enjoy a camping out style, but since we are together all the time now, it seemed a good way to have some time by myself
And Jill, you will make some really good friends along the way. Really.
unexpected moments of quiet beauty.
Okay, since you brought it up, Soodle; do you trust anyone who tilts their heads like that and asks those types of questions? *I* haven't found them to be reliable; no matter how many times they say to call (they are always busy if you do call them too!)
Don't be fooled Kap, she's playing innocent.
?????????????????????
Sometimes I want to scream...HOW THE HELL DO YOU THINK I"M DOING!!
WIll your son(s) stay with him when you go?
I avoided the 'head-tilters' like plague. They were the ones looking for information.....
Stupidest thing I ever said to anyone was "How was chemo?" Really. What an idiot.
Thankfully Nef, he's quite safe to stay by himself...he is really good about all the things he should do, pill box, notes, logging on calendar....
((((Jilly)))) Go ahead and say it here. It helps to get it out
Thanks Nef, that's why I love you all so dearly!! And Kaplan...we've all done those things...part of that human thing you mentioned
<---- What Nef said!
she said "Oh, it was a blast."
That's good, Jilly. My DH was supposed to stay alone and friends just check on him the week I went on vacation with my sisters; but the kids ended up taking turns staying here because he wasn't trust-worthy
Fortunately she knew me well enough to know
what would you like people to ask JillyJill? I would say that to show that I care about you, not just your DH
that I am an idiot.
LOL, we also have great neighbors...and I look at his mom (who my gut says has the same thing) really was able to live safely by herself until the last 3-4 years....she'll be 80 in July
This is the one that got to me..."I think about you all the time". Really? Then why don't you pick up the phone and call me? I can't read your mind.
No Kaplan...HUMAN...
i am sorry to hear about hubbys diagnosis jilly.tell him i am pulling for all of you and to wade in and give it hell, take no prisoners! a good attitude, support from loved ones and being spunky and fighting it like hell make a huge difference.with my 3 cancers i was in it,s face doing what has to be done and taking no prisoner!
I am not trying to stop the chat. I am asking what I can say that would not be hurtful because that is NEVER my intention. I just want to learn
It is a good question.
Bugs, I think Soodle refers to those who really don't care....just saying something to safe image
Sometimes there is no right thing to say.
thanks crossy!!
I love it when someone drops in and has a cup of coffee with us. I love it when some friends say let's go to dinner tomorrow. I'd love it if a guy would stop by and take DH fishing once the season opens (but sadly, those guys have all distanced themselves from him....)
trouble visits everyone in some form or another.
I really hope that when he can no longer drive that someone will step up and take him skiing...he so dearly loves that!
Bugs...a hug always works best!
Oh, it is really very easy to identify those who care, as opposed to those who want to get the story straight from the horse's mouth.
thanks Nef. That is the stuff I was looking for! I want to be part of the solution not part of the problem.
trying to keep life and routine as normal as possible meant wonders to me during my rough time.can be tough on those around you but my mrs was a rock that i was able to lean on
I can hug and do that now so maybe I have not hurt too many people in the past
Well said, Bugs.
You have a faith community, I gather- are they there for you? Do people put the word out? Sometimes there is not much to say, but cooking a meal for someone goes a long way.
On a good note, after 3 denials we finally got his social security disability approved...
i know that is tough, took ten years to grind my wifes app through the system
We have such a great faith community (Catholic Parish). I know all I have to do is ask.
Bugs, even a simple "call me; I'm home around xxx times on these days of the week" or an offer to pick something up at the storehelps. So many people say "call me" but they don't mean it.
When my boss's husband died, her neighborhood set up a rotating "bring dinner schedule". She had meals in her house for three weeks. I was amazed at that kind of loving support.
Sometimes it's hard to ask for help.
Now if only there was a way NOT to wait 2 1/2 years to get Medicare...would really help us financially if I didn't have to pay so much out of my check...
they bounce the diability app from doctor to doctor like it is a bloody tennis ball and the thing is time sensitive and you have to renoew it a few times as they gleefully let it expire
I would put the word out now to special people who ski to keep it in mind. It might help them to know that you want them to stay in your lives. At least I would like that.
But you have Medicaid, right Jilly?
ah, healthcare. Now THERE's a topic.
That's happened with his private disability insurance...we have now taken to copying all medical records and sending them ourselves
sorry, not my time to vent.i hope all your paperwork perils are minor jilly
Nope, not with my income...too many strings as well...
Jilly, I'd check with a social service worker at your hospital or the county to see what's available.
Oh Crossy...this place is such a wonderful place for ALL of us to gain support!!
Are you sure Jilly? Once someone is declared disabled by Social Security, they are supposed to be eligible for Medicaid.
thats the sort of support that is crucial in times of crisis, Molls. When a family is devastated by a death, and nobody feels like cooking, a delivered dinner keeps everybody fed and going. Its worth more than winning the lottery.
I am sort of frustrated with his former co-workers...they have literally "control-alt-deleted" him...
that's what I thought too, Molly. That's why I said she should check
Molly, it is dependant on total income...even his private disability prevents him from qualifying...
I know that control/alt/delete thing Jilly. It stings.
and that's pretty typical of Office friends, Jilly. DH still has 1 friend from work (and he'd worked with the same people for 25 years)
I really do feel blessed that he has the private disability though..
that IS a blessing! DH couldn't ever get it ("pre-existing condition" --he was dx'ed when he was 38)
PRobably a little to fresh, but ran into a guy hubby reallly liked...but within a few minutes his countenance and conversation indicated he really didn't give a damn anymore...
As a work friend who still cares deeply about a colleague, I don't want to presume that my friendship is as important as her family and friends. I don't contact her often because of that, not because I don't care
WIll put it in the.."too close to home" catagory..
Bugs, just send that friend a card saying you're thinking of her but don't want to call at the wrong time. Give her your number and the times you're available
thanks Nef. That I can do!!
PErfect advice Nef!
It is harder for men tho. When my husband retired he never expected to see the guys he worked with again and only does when they bump into each other somewhere. He is good with that.
I don't really understand the references to Medicare.. Is that private, self-funded health insurance?
it really helps a lot to let your friend know you care
Medicare is government assistance with health care.
Medicare is gov. health insurance for seniors over 65
Government retirement insurance one pays into all working life...
Medicaid is government assistance for those with disabilities.
And does it work? Is is sufficient?
LOL Soodle...that is the BIG question for the future...
The person on Medicare still pays a nominal amount and (depending on what they are eligible for) they may get a discount for meds too. But they also have to have some sort of a private insurance too
It does cover things quite well, but how much longer it will have funding is questioned.
Medicaid is very difficult. A lot of doctors don't honor it.
Medicare is government health care- which we're not supposed to have, except we have it.
Spot on kaplan...
Medicare and Medicaid are 2 different things too
it came in under President Johnson. back in the days when government was supposed to help
Probably a bit off topic now, but what if.. say a homeless person has a heart attack and a passer-by calls an ambulance, who pays?
Medicaid is for low income. And certain parties are always trying to slash it.
Medicaid is also for people with disabilities.
Medicare isn't universal, though -- most of the non-disabled and non-elderly have to have private insurance or pay for medical care out of their own pockets.
Some hospitals have some amount of free care, which they lose money on.
True
We have a long way to go.
We ALL pay, Soodle. That's the problem: people who are uninsured use the system too but can't pay; so the insured people help foot the bill for the uninsured through higher rates, etc.
College and health care are for rich people, apparently.
No shit Kap.
Pretty much the same as here, then.... :-(
we have the most screwed up "system" for health care and the "Obama Care" plan really could straighten it out
Been in health care for 35 years, 32 as RN...the system needs total rehaul...starting with insurance and pharmaceuticals!
amen. that shouldn't even be controversial.
In all fairness, though, Nef, can you show me a country which has the 'Ideal' health care plan, which works perfectly?
Hear, hear. I think insurance companies are just plain evil incarnate :P
I agree Jilly, they both need to be regulated.
but the private health insurance companies aren't willing to help fix the problems. :-( ANd they have a lot of lobbyists and $$$ to keep things status quo.
Soodle, I don't know how other countries do things. I just know ours is a broken system.
Every week we receive another notice that a major drug is unavailable....
I truly believe that if we ever have a bloody revolution in this country, it's going to be against insurance companies.
I know we're not doing politics here, but I do thinj it will be interesting in the presidential campaign, since ROmney instituted basically the same plan in Massachusetts as Obama's
Jill, my aunt was an RN for many years, and I've heard her talk about how busted things are. I hear ya.
Psshh. You think the system is broken in the US???? Its about 999% worse here
No one here seems to understand that health care is a basic human right...and that people ARE going without care..
<---Has no health insurance. Gets it.
Okay...back to babble...help with the he9?
Sorry.
nm got it
so true, Jilly. I've worked as an RN for 43 years (now retired) and saw so many people who put off small things and ended up with catastrophic illnesses
La la la la la. Sticking fingers in ears and singing la la la la la.
sorry again
LOL...oh soodle...ROFL
When a health insurance company makes over 277 Million in Profits for a year (2008 is what I just saw) and cuts the coverage for their clients; doesn't it make you say "WHAT is Wrong here?"
That it does Nef...
Jilly!!!! I made you laugh!!! My work here is done :-)!!!
Okay, sorry, off my soap box now ...
I don't think my words could EVER express how much all of you do to brighten my day!!
(((((((((((((((((Jilly)))))))))))))))) ))))))))))
Back at ya Soodle...(((Hugs)))
and Jilly, I read your FB page each day for inspiration. (Beautiful flowers BTW)
we pay for health care at tax time..everyone is covered, the rich, the poor, the homeless, becuase we will all need it at some point the old"why should i pay for him,i can afford my own heath insurance is gone"
sending blessings your way Jilly Jill. Thanks for helping me learn how to help you
Thanks...I knew something was afoot when #1 uttered (after I got a card from #2) "Why did he get a card too?"
Bugs..you are very welcome and the support is appreciated!
LOL!
Well Cross, that is the statement that is keeping this country in health care hell. The affluent are moving mountains to avoid having to pay into a national health care program.
I had to hide the care #2 sent for my BD..."Happy Birthday to Mom from her GOOD son..."
Yep Molly...totally agree...
i am sure they are molly
Well, truly hate to leave, but dinner must be started...BBL, only halfway done
Well, truly hate to leave, but dinner must be started...BBL, only halfway done
they think"as long as i can step over them in the ditch, there are free clinics right?"
And with that double post...THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT...Babblers truly ROCK!!
yep, crossy
That kind of greed and disdain, disgusts me.
*poof*
bye, Jilly ! (((hugs)))
obama is trying to bring you in line with the rest of the world
thanks nef!
Bye Jilly. Thinking about you.
who knows, you may even be the last on the planet to use metric:)))))
I wish I believed that Cross, but I don't. I have no faith in the man.

Stid.. I will expect nothing less than a full conversation 'as Gaelige' with you tomorrow.
someday, teach -- but not any time soon, I fear. Loans and kids' college take precedence over travel.

Heck, Stid... You can use me as your dictionary...:-)

I know what po is, but didn't connect it to what tor was cluing!
I guess french fries and cheese curds with gravy is not so disgusting after all ..
poutine ..
Big, big difference between pou6 and po6
pou... like what they eat in the south?
completely off-topic, but they found a Kittyhawk plane in the middle of the Sahara recently. This is pretty cool: http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/11/world/br itish-wwii-plane/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

They found an old war plane in the Cascades a few years ago.

Did you try to go into an old date historically? In safari you can go into history and pick an old date and try to boot from there.
Did you forget your password
scrambler no password is there
I might worry about the email...was it from Facebook?
i tried to make a new account with same info but it says that the info i put in still exists thankfully
i should hope so
also cant get into my email since i got back on puter about a half hour ago
Sounds like a virus mlf
MLF, I get emails like that from FB after I use either my cell phone to get in or have tried to use a tablet. The email says that if I didn't enter at this time from Denver or somewhere else (I forgot where); but since I put in that I'd entered; no problems
ne5/12 = NETwork OPerator ..
*thunk*
I have changed the date on my computer and went backwards, but only during an emergency, as the date you enter in will be the date on all your info on all your apps/programs. I would open another FB with a supplied email from FB, at the same time email FB /tell the problem you are having and that you have opened up an alternate FB page for temp use only!
Sounds like you have been scammed or have a virus!
Am really struggling with the 6's and 7's...going to take a break...

bugsaw, this is odd, as just 2 days ago the same thing happened to negativeness and he was very surprised that it happened. He did not try to do it!
I've often found that the chat may go back 15 minutes or so; if you keep chatting it goes away
yes,, mine is back to 9:42.....
scrambler, he was the one I was most worried about offending! I didn't try to do it either but at least he may not be quite so critical of me
