say, i have a pseudo-medical question. my husband always says weight loss is simple, calories burned more than calories eaten. but i know this is not completely true, you eat too little and your metabolism slows down. well, when i had my tonsils out at the end of the year, i obviously was eating little. i lost 7 pounds, then gained back 14. i am trying to work on reducing that a bit, but it seems like my metabolism is REALLY resisting it. if your metab slows like that, how long does it take to return to normal, do you think? or does it never?!
Those "set point" and change of metabolism issues are difficult to really measure or be aware of.
yeah i just don't get it, i wasn't having such a struggle before the surgery.
it's extremely frustrating.
Yes, bottom line is burn more calories than you take in. But what you eat affects blood glucose and insulin output and those affect metabolism. Thus simple carbs are the true enemy, not fats.
And I hate effect/affect as noun/verb so forgive me if I screwed up.
well i eat pretty healthily, and i've been trying to do the eat small snacks between meals to encourage your metabolism to keep working trick

i am glad my tonsils were gone but not sure it was worth it if my metabolism is permanently slowed.

reading back on weight issues,scrab may or may not confirm this but there is fat,then there is FAT.i am consistantly 40 pounds over my optimum weight,but i hike,rock climb,go canoeing,so i am very active my BP is fine ,my heart is strong,my colesterol is 96!!! so keeping active imho would be the first line of attack then just add more healthy snacks,do not even call it a diet per se,just do fun activities
