volcano to you as well cos. (odd greeting)
Saw it all this morning on BBC America
If you like, flosey, lol!
mab its a word in the grid :P
Didnt Kate look good on a wet miserable day?
i was teasing, cos. i wish i'd seen the jubilee.
New hat for Her Maj -- much better than those flowerpots.
Couldnt see any difference I think she just gets one inm every colour and gets her dresser to put a different bow or flower on - like I do actually!!!
t seen Kate yet
(Haven't...) Hit the wrong key there
anyone have the middle col E?
I only have the volcano, lol!
would that be ej5/22?
ugh i did not think that was doable thanks NBT
that's not from the middle E, flosey
yw cos
yes jill it is

Yay mrp!!!
hello everyone :)
thanks mrp
hi nan
Thanks mrp
retrend
tired. Last week of school, then 9 weeks of no back-sassing (toward me, just to be clear). Can't wait. 'til then, to bed
oops -- sorry...
no worries, you can't go in the PB for a non-word, can you???
anyway, goodnight, everybody. [poof]
Boo.
boo to you too neil
And boo to you too.
phant -- centaur
Yep. Definitely.
hi Neil
Saw that too.
Hi flosey.
you scared the wits out of me with that boo neil. hi.
Sooo sorry mab. I know... I'm a scary guy.
Hi.
"Mild homicidal streak scarcely worth mentioning." really cracks me up, btw.
ok. i've pulled myself together.
bottom e stats, please?
I would if I had them nan... but I just don't. Yet. I'm in an IM here too right now. Slow here.
isn?'t that the ej 5 and 7
ty mab - nbt
oops. strangely misplaced question mark.
Oh thanks for those, mab. ;)
that was a jilli find I believe.
Which led to more.
I would've found it... wasn't paying much attention in here yet.
Found the related others too.
with D and E.
I can't take credit for the ej -- flosey gave them to me
we are a modest bunch. if I do say so.
just one of our many stellar qualities
I must thank flosey.
all I need for nbt is an un7, upper left corner
undigested jilli
ru!
just back in time, yw Neil, had to get a pair of warm socks on, quite cool this evening
hiya neil
Thanks for that ru... just got here not long ago.
And been gabbing on IM.
thank you ru
kissy kissy, ruru -- NBT
hi jilli.
the icon looks better neil
104 down and off to watch the news -- see you tomorrow :)
Yay -- NBS too!
Huh ru?
bye nan
wtg jilli
better photo of you
Oh, thanks. Better than what though?
the armpit one
Oh. :P
You had armpit hair envy. Must've been tough.
oh. man.. I can't say it
Can't say what? Huh. What can't you say on here?! lol
I get in enough trouble around here.
I have expletives galore on profile. Anything goes man.
Just... say it. :P
Hey there, wht? How in the world are you?
Where is wht? I don't see him here?
must be lurking
re8
Oh hey flosey. See some earlier section of the chog where I said I should thank you... and an even earlier section where I said what I said I should thank you for, only now I forget what I said that I said I should thank you for... oh, forget it. :P
Just accept my thanks. ;)
the ej words
Yeah. That was it! Thanks jilli. :)
lol, you are most welcome - it's usually me asking for clues
I didn't ask. They were just given.
I'd have seen them when I paid more attention.
I know, I read back
Too busy talking here plus on IM.
multitasking
So ru?
What was it you said you can't say?
Still waiting.
I pretty much have to keep focus on one thing at a time anymore! old age is the pits
Pits. Yes... which reminds me again: Hey ruru? What couldn't you say? lol
lol, you're not going to let him go are you
*my lips are sealed*
Tired -- not even halfway, but quittin' time for this kid...goodnight all...*poof
goodnight jilli, I'm about ready to leave, soon
as a matter of fact, now is a good time to leave, falling asleep, 55 for tomorrow
good night everyone
good morning
morning :)
can i have a clue for the bottom rh R and also a 8 for nbs and nbt please
Hi jenny
only 2 I have for that is a re 5/5 and plural
misspell part of a woodwind instrument
sorry, that should be re 4/5
back again for a few minutes

Morning all
hello norma
Hi ruby
ugh:((..5 am and the new kitten woke me up:(
Hello crossy
howdy norma
{{crossy}}
((ruby))
does the kitten think your its mom?
only if kittens randomly bite mom on the nose at 5 am
Ithink so LOL
but mom cat would hiss
i know i made a noise
canties
cantied
close ruby
whoops but no amage....
how is your weather, crossy? We had a few wonderful warm sunny days but now rain again
when a vessel is heeled over in the wind it is ca 6/24
damage*
had that, but thanks
we have had 2 days of solid hard rain
or when you take back a statement, it is re******
that sounds like our April and May!
ohh! ty ruby:))
when your hair thins and goes back from the brow it is known to re 6/24
we normally planted tomatoes in April but waited because of the rain
The people who didn't wait wound up with rotty stumps
we planted them last week and had 3 sunny days
we start stuff like that indoors and never plant before may 24th
that, of course, is the received wisdom, but I've never claimed to be wise!
that's like Binghamton, where it could snow in May
wisdom is nothing but practicing perfection, doing the same mistakes over and over and over till i am perfect at messing up:)
sounds like my stule!
Did you hear that sprite is coming to visit in 2 weeks? She is a brave soul as it is a looong train ride!
style*
when you pour out the wine, you de6/24 it
missed that, ty crossy
i heard:)) but remember for us canucks and americans anything less that a 3 hour trip is not much more than the daily drive to work:)
hahah
we are having as much fun planning it as the actual trip!
we had a farm up north once, where it was 15 min drive to a paved road and another 20 min just to get to the closest store
wow, I've never been any place that remote except in Alaska, where everything was by seaplane (and that was only a fishing week)
did you have moose and bears?
crossy loves the fly- in fishing trips in algonquin park
uh oh, her master calls....LOL
we mdo have moose and bears yes
yes, that's what we did
tell him to cool his jets
my first time fly fishing and on the 3rd day, caught a 23" rainbow
What an experience!
very nice:)
only saw one bear but lots of footprints (I think the guides had a "bear stamp" to scare us
see you later, cookies!
never worry overmuch about our bears.as long as you do not have food laying about, you will always smell them long before you run into them
Can anyone clue the de6/39 and the de8/50 please
de 6/39, sounds like to refuse something
Thanks girlie
The de 8/50 is built on the de 6/24 before it
Thanks girlie just got it .... :)
crossy hates adhd kittens..:(
darn thing just jumped up on my chair and bit me on the tushie..
we got one of those too crossy
lol crosshair how old is kitten i have 3 10 week old kittens here lol
driving me bonkers...
12 weeks
bless x
better bless him, cause i am going to kill him
there goes the wifes plant of the sill...
lol kittens soon grow out of the mad stage lol
in about a year and a half :)
we already have 2 cats..a 3 year old and a 6 year old and i had forgotten this insanity
i must be mad as i have the 6 girls and 6 cats lol
now it is pouncing on the 3 year old while he was trying to go potty
marry the girls off, keep the cats
lol
or weach time one girl moves on with her life pack a cat to go with her
w about ball of tinfoil, throwing it up and down the stairs, might wear himout??
then when you are a calm serene empty nester get your own cat
Cats are a lot more fun before the learn to be dignified
yeah :) then i can have a dog lol
lol xeiluj..we have more cat toys than you can shake a stick at
i did have 5 kittens but talked mum in to having two lol
i mean our living room is not a cat palace filled with broken and rusting junk, but they are working on it
rather you than me, Crossy! that sounds adorable, but I find keeping up with one little dog wears me out.
our 6 year old cat hides in the bedroom all day now lol
andrew,it is exactly like a young child who can just start to walk around and is getting into everything
the wife and i sleep in shifts
he is due to get fixed very shortly, maybe that will calm him down a tad
lol, know it slowed me down for a few weeks when i got fixed ten years ago:))
haha! I just have my little Schatzi...he has a taste for danger. Whenever I walk him he always tries to drag me towards the bad neighbourhoods.
sure ,blame it on the pet
hahaha! he's only a little chihuahua, but he's laughably determined.
you need a dog like my brother had,a great big bull mastiff.thing is the size of a pony
paws the size of a sandwich plate
lol...but then it would fill up my whole flat, and I'd have nowhere to sleep :P
that's why I got Schatzi. He's a pint-sized pup to fit in my pint-sized living space!
why you sleep on the couch of course cause the dog stole your bed
lol...I have no couch...would have to make a doggy mattress
ugh 06:15,time to see where kitty has gone off to
good luck ;) see you around!
whew! calmly sitting on window bird watching
small place also andrew
as long as he is bird watching, and not bird stalking or bird eating ;)
1100 sq feet, but at least i do not have to pack a lunch for a trip to the other end of the place
inside cats only here andrew,we have a healthy coyote population
they would love nothing better than a kitty snack
lol Crossy! the smaller the better, if you ask me. I grew up with five sisters in a two-bedroom house...I couldn't handle a big place if I tried!
indeed, son is older now and testing his wings,so we are getting rid of decades of crap and trying to live more minimalist
haha! you do make me laugh. so irreverent :P
we could use a little irreverence in the UK at the moment. too much jubilee.
well you are young yet.you would not believe the junk that accumulates over 20-30 years.it is insane
opened the closet the other day and hauled out 5! old video game systems.they are earmarked for the next yard sale
true. now that I have my own place, I'm enjoying filling it up with kitsch!
not to worry andrew,i just tend to ramble on about this and that and toss out my musings
lol@ kitsch..we have more "dust collectors" per sq foot in this place...
oh no, I find it entertaining! I live a very, very quiet life, so I get a real thrill from experiencing different people. I suppose I should get out more...!
funny,i am just finishing up a 30 year stint in the public service industry, was always out there as it were.now i cannot wait to get in and surround myself with my own calm pleasures,my music ,my books, walks on the mountain
now i take great delight in inclemant weather because now it is someone else out there getting frozen,or wet or baked in the searing heat and not me:)
spent an hour sitting on the covered patio yesterday watching the rain pound down and smiling:)
hahaha! we have a word for that in German, you know...Schadenfreude :P
lol,i know the word
there's nothing wrong with it. shameful joy might even be the best joy :P
oops, I should change my flag back, now I'm home...
ahh wheres home?
ah, London is home for me now - I was visiting family in Germany recently though. It is quite a shocking place to see again though. It doesn't feel like home anymore, really. It's so bleak!
sometimes you cannot go home again.the world moves on and we see with different eyes
woah..that was nice and deep, best get a tea:)
deep but true, Crossy...very good nugget of wisdom
hello again
there, kettle is on..yes the mrs says i am full of nuggets, but the wrong kind more often than not
((ruby))
what are those nuggets called, crossy? I seem to have forgotten
And hello again Andrew, glad you're back in gorgeous London
is the kodak plant still running in london andrew? i know they have had problems of late
just made myself the most wonderful lunch: white asparagus tips, hollandaise sauce, a poached yolk all served on a buttered whole wheat English muffin
uch decadence!
wow! french cuisuine indeed ruby!!
such*
ohhhh that sounds lush Ruby...
if I had had more time and energy, I would have added Morel mushrooms, but too much trouble for lunch. (Husband had a ham sandwich, tant pis!
oh, I thought they were turning the Kodak plant into a waste disposal site...last I heard, anyway!
hehe
Ruby probably weighs 300 lbs!
i have seen your pic ruby, you look like you are 98 pounds soaking wet
maybe 99....
my left thigh weighs 99 pounds lol
lol
oh, you're a dainty little elf, Ruby!
I eat like a big person, but not very often
short, Andrew!
she is andrew,i could toss her over my shoulder and go for a jog around the park
I just learned that my London relatives are moving back to NY
too bad for me, I enjoyed my occasional visits
ahh globetrotting eh?
I can't face a long flight back to the US any more
reminds me,i have a open invite to visit my brother in las vegas.he just finished up 5 years in costa rica and says he is sooo glad to be back in north america
but Costa Rica sounds like paradise!
wow!
I would like to travel more...I'm getting itchy feet. time to move on soon! I'm planning to country-hop again soon.
I would go broke in Las Vegas -- Ruby loves to gamble
seems even paradise can pale ruby.he says he like myself tower over the locals, and you never ever blend in.and there are customs and the different foods and the exotic birds yammering just outside your window every day at 4 am,and the 3 month rainy season where any little cut can lead to massive infection
not to mention the insects!!
never thought of it that way, crossy, but at leat I would feel tall (or at least avarage-sized)
indeed!
though living is very cheap there
least*
he had a house maid, when he asked her how much per hour she wanted and she said 2 dollars,he was so surprised he paid her 4 per hour
I have become a fan of local bees, speaking of insects. We have beautiful VERY large ones called Bourdon, and when they come in the house, I have learned to rescue them and take them back outside. They are to beautiful to kill
he lived like a king down there on his pay in u.s dollars
just like France, LOL
the USD is worth zippo
lol,ruby,france is painfully expensive
but, of course, London is even more expensive
we were lucky to buy the house when the dollar was worth so much
even here,we hear about those little eateries down by the eifel tower and the 17 dollar bowl of strawberries
we could never have afforded it otherwise
chez moi, crossy, you could eat strawberries for free until you turned totally pink!
hehe
omg! just found a word in the grid!
crossy has his tidbits; Ruby has her naps
see you later, fellas!
<-- has 109!!!
bye, guys! Schatzi wants his walk...
tc andrew
tc ruby
my Austrian psychiatrist's wife's nickname was Schatzi, hahah
you 2 want the tidbit of the day first?
please
Introduced in the late 1960’s, flower-flavored PEZ was designed to appeal to the hippie generation—complete with a groovy, psychedelic dispenser. But even in the decade of free love, no love could be found for the flavor power of flowers.
there used to be a violet-flavored candy which wasn't so bad, but then I was a hippie-dippy, too
crssy trys to envision ruby with the tie-dye shirt and braided hair with a flower in it
no, try to picture me in pink suede hot pants and corduroy platform shoes!
and horizontally striped tights!
I wish I had a photo from 1974!
with the big bell bottoms
weren't we brilliant?
edent
we were stardust,we were golden:)
for sure! {{crossy}}
though i only caught the tail end of it.my 8th grade grad photo has me in a wide collar shirt, cords and the big wide toe platform shoes
and hair down the the middle of my back
lol, lord we all had a pile of hair.the girls used to hate us cause it was always nice and straight and shiny and we teated it like crap
treated
good afternoon, Babble friends :)
((sprite))
7:11 am here and the birds are falling out of the trees cause they are having birdie sex and driving out cats bonkers
roflolllll
they tease the cats as well.cat is on the window sill, and bird lads on sill on other side of screen and starts bouncing back ad forth"hi! i am a bird! this is my butt! watch my birdie butt bounce!" and the cat is just losing it,s mind
Good mornin' friends
lands
howdy bichon
hiya bichon!
love it, crossy. Silly birds :)
hello everyone...the clouds here are a purplish greyish blue
good lord..kitten has one of those reusable plastic shopping bags and is using it for cover to stalk out 3 year old cat.he is under it and using it like a turtle shell and is moving across the floor and coming up on the 3 year old
howdy annie
hi Annie :) Sounds like thunder!
film it, crossy!
hi crossy and spritey :)
Weather looks crummy here Annie
hi bichon, I think we are in for a bit of rain...it has been so windy here. I planted flowers in pots on the balcony...I hope they survive.
11c and cloudy here today
Hard to believe it was crazy hot a week ago
11 c's translates to how many degrees?
I know, bichon
52 in american
lol... celsius are degrees too :P
thanks crossy, cold for this time of year
and the centegrade scale is also in degrees annie my dear:))
*blushing* I think I should know that by now
*grins*
we have to get you guys onto metric;))
metric is another language
we've tried. Too many conservatives in this country to budge
though fish are always in pounds, beer is always in pints and bobbies shall forever more be measured in inches amen
boobies
lol crossy
that was funny crossy
just got here - isn't the j in the same place as yesterday?
this board seems familiar
bichon, Is it true CT has approved medical marijuana? I cannot believe it
Think the British have metric but still use inches and pounds and feet
hi hokie
its funny case it is true.i have never heard a woman up here desribe her assets in centemetres
hi hokie
ender
I think so Annie.
hi xeiluj
well, I'll be....
sorry, i entered that ages ago!!
Hi xeiluj. Do the British use metric or regular?
hi xei
np xei
lol @ "regular"
lol @ "regular"
They use metric but i still deal in old money
Lol
oops got the hiccups
I wrote it to be funny
that says it all, doesn't it... 'regular'. LOL!
it does indeed
it worked, bichon :)
we love to drive them nuts by sending down cars all put together with metric nuts and bolts;)))))
hehehe yes indeed.
s
I think at least one of our Toyotas was assembled in Canada
yes, were have a few toyota plants here
hi Frances :)
never knew Toyotas grew on plants. Wow.
I'm okay at converting distances due to 5K running, but I had a hard time when we went to Canada with speeds. kmph v. mph
Oops! Hi sprite. Are you well?
luckily both are on the speedometer. ;-)
well enough, Frances. And you?
lol hokie, just do not do 50mph in a 50kmp zone or you will get a ticket
Not too bad thanks. Hating this weather.#
I usually do it roughly... one mile = 1,5 km. More or less.
yeah... we want our sun back, don't we!
Euro has bad weather too?
did you know that when we build cars for the U.S we put mph on the outside of the gauge, but here we put the kph on ihe outside
Sun back and a lot less rain.
Last Monday it was wicked hot here, over 90F
yes, I did notice that. makes sense, though.
very. We go up and down per day. One day 27 degrees (!) celcius and the next only 10. One day very sunny, next rain rain and more rain. My son is ill now. Severe cold, due to the quick changes and gotten himself drained in cold rain without a coat.
bichon, it was beautiful here Sat. and was supposed to be high 81 yesterday, but it felt like 91 to me.
I think our Toyotas have both gauges
same here sprite up and down like a toilet seat
indeedydeed, crossy. :)
stats for 3rd column e pls
basically,if you do not like the current weather/temps,just wait 5 minutes and it will change
ej5/22 I think
it's about to get really hot here and stay that way all summer. :-(
and related 7/56
ty sprite
yvw
flip side, though, we have been swimming in our pool off & on since March.
we could do with a bit more sun and warmth here.
7:35am and 63 degrees. No idea what that is in celsius. :-)
that sounds nice hokie
And here, four days off and nothing but rain!!
record heat here in Utah. May reach 100 F today
high is supposed to be 85.
that is about 17 celcius. Not very hot.
ouch Uncover, that is not pleasant!
and here it will not get over 60 degrees today
ugh, uncover - stay inside!
but it's a dry heat. Here in CT when it gets hot it's a steam bath
I have been trying to find the an8 for ages..anyone have a clue?
85 F is about 30 C
I've heard both arguments for that, bichon.
not yet, sorry Annie
but thanks, sprite
It also gets very steamy in NC. Humidity only 55% today, though.
they're calling for a thunderstorm tonight anyway, though.
oh... there it is. It ends in a place, or a web page.
I finally found it...ask and ye shall find
You probably have central AC hokie. We only have window units
lol... you and me both, Annie! Thank you for telling me it was there.
yep, thank goodness
It is not that it is so terribly hot, it is that it is so hot this early in the year. We normally do not get temp like this until the end of July
thanks sprite and youre welcome
climate changes all over the world, Uncover.
when I was a kid in the mountains of SW Virginia, we did not have AC. We hung out in the unfinished basement most of the summer and loved it when the bookmobile came.
yep, all the time. then, just to make it worse, they post grids full of u and e
almost nobody here has AC. We would only ne4 it for a couple of weeks a year. Our car has it though (first time we have one with AC) and when it is very hot, it is a blessing.
but sometimes now the AC chills me to the bone. I will go out in the garage to get something and think how good it feels out there.
lol Uncover... yeah, very vowely grid today.
We cool our home here in Salt Lake with a swamp cooler, works very well
I have a friend heading out tomorrow to Sandy, UT, for a few weeks. I hope her family has AC or even a swamp cooler. ;-)
wow, that is my town, and I would guess they will be okay
I always rem. it because it was the town in Big Love.
aww
Ah, yes, Sandy. Remember Big Love.
How does a swamp cooler work?
cools the home, but turns it into a swamp in the process.
you trickle water down pads, and a fan inside sucks air through the pads
I think I have read about it before, but probably on wiki, so it may or may not be true.
yes, that's pretty much what I read.
the evaporating water will lower the temp by quite a bit
I see it's only for areas with low humidity. Definitely not for here
anybody have the last i?
never mind
how about the other i?
lol... yes I do... and so do you now
I'm looking for it too
Right Bichon, only low humidity places get much use
never mind again
they mean the same thing
I should just ask and then find all of them.
hahahaha hokie!
okay, how about the first u?
what are the stats for the 2nd column i, pls
I have one from there. Not been had for dinner.
ir 5/10
ir5/10
ty hokie
ir 5 10
ty everybody
ah, thanks - did not even have the 5 letter part of that
:) And my clue was for the upper left U
great, that is 2 for the price of one :D
so, now I have nbt, I need to hit the shower and then go to a breakfast at school. Nice chatting, all!
bye hokie, have a good day at school
Think I need breakfast to keep brain working bbl
haha, luckily I don't have to stay all day! My kids are excited - only 5 days left!
nice :) Counting down then. Lots of weeks to go here still.
pfui, 2/3 done. Too many vowel words!
the other U in the corner is not played on the stage, natural.
ty, Sprite
yvw
Ta for that one
my pleasure :)
well, I am off to go teach bowling to the local community college. Will be back later , you guys have fun today
bye Uncover, have a good one
Good morning / afternoon everyone
hey Mom :)
hello Sprite
:-) just got the volcano and goose. This is going to be a good day
hehehe indeed :D
30 A words? Just shoot me
it is a very vowely grid today. Not easy!
((Mom)) no shooting today
(((Annie))) good morning. Thanks for the email. I will answer it in a bit
No rush Mom..when you get a chance
Sprite, what time it is where you live?
14.19 Mom
ah, you are 6 hours ahead of me then
:) 7 ahead of Babble.
yes, I am 1 hour ahead of babble
Has anyone se** Haz lately?
I can't wait to hear from all the babblers in England once the Olympics begin.
I sent Haz a cartoon about exclamation points a while ago. I am glad to report she is alive and well.
no, not me, alas. Was just thinking of her.
I miss her too, Mom
ah good, Annie :)
I miss her in the chat. Thanks, Annie, I am glad to hear that. I'll drop her a line later today as well
I miss her too
fireflies. Kinda hard at the end.
YAY for sprite !!!
thank you :) Must be off, have fun all! *hugs*
bye Sprite. congrats
be right back
have a good day, sprite
Well done!!
Annie, I have a friend who says there is a 12 step program for those who use too many exclamation points. : D
Hi Molly, I think Haz leads the group in the UK...EPA
Well, it does seem to be an addiction. I'm glad there is a recovery program. : )
I am down to one exclamation point except when someone aget fireworks then the addiction kicks in
Uusue needs an intervention
As do I.....
hi car. :):)
Good morning everyone! (see, only 1...I can quit any time I want...)
We are proud of you Car. Keep up the good work. You will have your one month chip in no time.
:)
hello all, home after a long day. 10:40pm here. how are we all? doing fine now that i have pain meds onboard. lol
Please can i join the club,i am definitley addicted
Hi grannyrose!
I am sorry you are hurting.
welcome aboard, xeiluj
Always room for more

phantom: nuance
hi, hurshy, and aunties
auntie, that's me!
hey urshy
i am feeling stunned
so you're a phantom, too
from being an auntie or from life in general?
phantom: dancer
no, auntie-ism not stunning. i am stunned because i applied for a job that i thought they would not even consider me for, but one of my bosses just told me that they called him for a rec and told him that they are likely to interview me.
are you having more rain, hurshy? I thought we had finished with that when June started, but it is raining again

hurshy, no offense taken.... they just soeak differnetly tom us
thanks and hello, brabble
morning ALL
BR!!
Hello
um...*speak*
a rare BR sighting. Hi there.
i just wondered cause we saw a NZ contestant on a cooking show and my husband referred to him as australian and i was like, um, no, and he said it really didn't make a difference.
new zealanders speak with a more english accecnt to us..a bit bewildering at first, then you get used to it
i wonder if NZ people mind more, because their country is smaller.
maybe not to him Hursh.
i just feel like NZ people i have known in the past did mind, and this contestant had said specifically that he had never cooked with barramundi BECAUSE it was an australian fish.
hurshy, having met groovy kiwi and her partner, no, i personally don't have a problem. plus my son's mother-in-law is a kiwi...absolutely no conflict there
so it's not like the french and the english :)
nah...we are too close....besides we speak the same language, just with a different accent
kiwi is a fun word
is it a maori word?
yes
lol, refers to a native bird of new zealand. they probably call us koalas, or roos, or platypi. * makes no difference to me, personally*
famous flightless bird of crosswords. lol
well i found two of the 8's by myself... re and or
and i have found all but ONE of the 7's!
of course you did Hursh.

oh man...fish slap on that one
*added to the end, I meant!
LOL, Jillyjill.
Min - y/w for je6/33 word.
Any more clues needed?
Did anyone notice our icons are some kind of sign to read.

The chat log is a stream of colorful signs. Looks cool!
Jacq's writing a short story with a deadline of 5pm and so won't be going anywhere for a while.

Hello mixi6! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
Hi minveryork. I am doing great. Played an hour of tennis singles this morning.
i miss tennis
Miss playing tennis. Used to play when I was in college
we were missing a couple of people. It was supposed to be doubles.
I never got the ball over the net until age 35.
Well good thing at least two people showed up to play
I still don't get the ball over the net..
Oh ruru...do I want to go there?
I started lessons at age 45. Took for about 5 years.
I used to have a decent serve, but that is long gone.
skip it jilli.. just my sicko humor

Well, I've got the 1st draft of my story done. Need to sleep on it and let brain refine it. Will do 2nd edit when I get up and probably 3rd and final when I type it up.
Wow Jacq...I need your initiative!
*Sending good vibes to Jac's muse*
Try waving a much needed bunch of dollar bills in front of your face, Jillyjill.
Molly - Thank you.
Well, mine is homework....no $$ for reward...
I'll be around for about 15 more mins to clue, if anyone needs it, then it's off to bed to let my brain work while my body sleeps.

ty...thought I'd tried that one...
y/w.
10 to go!
hey all -- go jilly go!
Hi Stid ((hugs))
hi stid and Jilly
and Jac!
Hi there bugsaw!
((hugs))
Jac, my very dear friend! how goes your garden? I was walking yesterday and there were ripe salmonberries in our yard down by the road -- they are a native plant, gorgeous pink blossoms, and the nicest yellow berries, like a raspberry, but not as much flavor.
BUGS!!! (((bugs hugs)))
how close are you to finishing?
hey stid. Are you still having fun at school?
LOL mostly, bugs -- had a very difficult class last week at one school and today had its challenges, but mostly I do okay and the kids do okay and even have a little fun and learn a bit. I am fortunate that in most schools the adminsitrators are very willing to support the "guest teachers"
Hiya Stid. My garden's doing very well so far, except for a large part of the very big pergola collapsing 2 nights ago. Luckily, all the rotten top beams went into the middle and did no more damage than breaking a plastic pot and a plastic table. The greenhouse, the sheds and the plants weren't hit. Still can't believe how lucky we are that no one was standing under it at the time.
I had another bad day today and one of the teachers who has been teaching since forever told me they were the worst set of kids he had ever had to teach. He was so kind to give me permission to spend the last 3 weeks in the LA room. YAY for him.
oh yuck Jac. What a job that will be to repair
Stid - haven't heard of salmonberries, but they sound nice. My raspberry canes are multiplying and doing very well.
Oh, I am so glad no one was hurt -- and it sounds as if you can at least recover part of the structure for reuse. I always think of your lovely garden and hope it is doing well. I will load a pic of the salmonberries "toute suite!"
---> sparkles<---
Bugs, there is a rash of "this class is the hardest ever" going around -- different ages at different schools, but every school seems to have at least one group of kids that are particularly challenging to keep safe and productive.
YAY jilly!!!!
Well done Jillyjill!
YAY Jilly
Bug - it'll get done in the fullness of time.
*half bow*...not too proud of the few I struggled with...
I think the biggest problem is that the kids are done emotionally with school and now is when the teachers are turning on the juice to get things done. It is a lot of pressure
Re the bad class of the school - there's always one and always has been. It's usually either 3rd year high school or 5th year high school. Can't remember the modern way school years are counted now. Kids between 13-16.
those are the ages I work with all the time Jac. 14 years are definately the worst. They think they are so grown up so they want more independence than is safe.
Yep Jacq....I term that age group "toddlers on hormones"....
Good description, Jilly!
yep, that's my most challenging age, bugs -- LOL it's when the BOYS in the group start to catch up to the girls, physically.
Science has proved that kids that age can't actually help themselves. Their emotional and cognitivebrain parts are evolving at different levels and don't match up with their body growth or their flood of hormones.
The clumsiness thing comes into play then for the same reason.
try telling akid that Jacula. They know everything. One kid in Grade 9 English class told me,"I know I am supposed to write a paragraph but I don't do paragraphs."
Boys are about three years behind girls intellectually and emotionally.
so I suggested that we start with a sentence or two and he said he didn't do sentences either.
LOL bugs...I can hear that one!
What did he end up doing, then?
Bug - I have a 17-year-old here, not my own daughter but my stepdaughter. Unfortunately, due to things in her past she's a bit wonky and is anything between 7-14 intellectually, but her body tells her she's older.
Jac, I loaded a new icon
stid - I was going to ask about that, too. Did he add a word or two at a time?
He got the talk about how to play the game. You can't play soccer using baseball rules even if you want to so, just in English class we have to do sentences and paragraphs if that is the assignment.
Stid - I see your new icon and it looks familiar, except I've seen them with red spikey cases.
good for you!
there is more to the talk but he got the gist and we did it, one sentence at a time until he had a paragraph. It just takes forever!!
Bugs, you're a real pro. *happy friend smile* He will never know how much your help has meant in his life (but we know...)
It's hard work, isn't it, Bug? Teenagers are a trial!
AND, he knows you care!
Only 3 more weeks for me Jacula and then retirement for me! Only grandchildren teens and they are so much easier to love
I thinks that's the thing, Stid and Jilly. You might not think you 'care' when someone cares for you, but you do, and you remember them for caring.
Bug - you might not say that if you were dealing with our 17-yea-old right now.
But, I do understand, Bug, that's you can only take that smarmy 'I know it all, old person!' look so many times before you want to bounce a housebrick off the back of their heads.
YES! I got NBT by myself! :-)
also NBS. now working on halfway...
that is only because she is not a GRANDchild. It is SO much easier when you are not the parent. Ifelt such a sense of responsiblity when I was the parent. As a grandparent I just feel that I am reinforcing the values the parents are feeling responsible about imparting.
Tom is making turkey meatballs for our spaghetti today... I got the ingredients ready before I sat down, and he is doing the cooking while I have my feet up.
I would love to be a grandparent, but sometimes I don't think that I will live through the parenting state. *sigh*
Good job Stid!
I'm not a grandparent yet but haven't forgotten seeing both sets of grandparents fall in love with their first grandchild (my son) when they first set eyes on him. As for it being easier when you are not the parent, even if you are the step parent, I'm not so sure.
I LOVE being a grandparent - just spent the day with the two youngest (1 1/2 and 6 years) and enjoy having them right here in town where I see them every week at least
those are good ages, teach! Exhausting, but good!
Sometimes they are so much easier to deal with if one can take a step back...but much easier said than done!
well said, Jilly
good evening my friends
yes, i am always exhausted but love my days with them. Had the 6 year old at the church picnic last night. The older one (just turnede 14 ) is off on a mission trip with the church youth group
At present, step's Dad isn't speaking to her and wants her out the minute she reaches 18. I can see that she's been damaged by the years with her weird mother and still want to help, even if I am disgusted with her right now. Rock/hard place? I'm between them!
hello mcurl! soggy wet and gray in your neck of the woods, too?
Hi there mcurls!
yes it is
((hugs)) jacq....she is lucky to have you you know...may take years for her to express it, but you need to know that!
I've been trying to change my icon photo and it wont switch.....guess I've had that darn plane for to many years and it's permanently adhered!
yep. I despair of lovely sweet native blackberries this year -- they are on the vines and want to ripen, but it's not sunny enough for sweetness.
um.... what's the issue, do you think?
I am having the same problem mcurl...takes several days for the change to occur...
Hi mccurl. I see a cutie with a hat
mcurl, I see a sweetie pie, too!
yep that's the new one. I'm not seeing it yet. That would be Miss Paige in cousin Jordan's tiger hat
did you try refreshing the browser?
nope not yet.
only problem is that now I shall not know who you are by your icon! LOL
that is a cute tigger hat, though.
sorry. Figured that since son is no longer in the AF that I would need to switch!
I could go between birthday cake creations by Carmon
I can hear the magpies scolding outside now, defending their nest again. Probably a cat or a fox on the path below. Time I went to bed and let my brain work on refining that story I'm hoping to sell. And thanks, Jillyjill for what you said.
probably best to get some sleep before sun-up, Jac! (((hugs))) good to see you and talk with you a little. I have missed chatting with you.
Niters jacq...hope you sleep well!
the cake creations are pretty amazing... might drum up some business for her, too...
mcurl...I still see the plane, I closed and reopened babble...I am using babble expert...are you?
yes I am using babble expert. I popped out of babble and even restarted my computer and I still see the crazy plane. Oh well......
The upcoming one is R2D2 for Jordan's class end of the year party (teacher is a star wars fan)
oh, I hope you will post a pic of that!
definitly! how cute!
Mccurl, I just opened regular babble and icons are changed...must be a glitch in babble expert...wait a day or so and it'll have changed
she did a reading corner called "Death Star reading cafe" Complete with some storm troopers and a replica of the Death Star. Outside the classroom door is Yoda; and on a reminder board to see 3 before the teacher is C3PO; I hear that Darth Vader is next!
Thanks Jilli; hopefully I will catch up with myself!
Don't we all mcurl!! LOL
brb
oh, I completely wandered off...
I should go do something halfway productive. It was a long day, and although I am probably taking tomorrow off, I might get a call from an outlying district (and if they call, I will go because they need subs and I need brownie points).

hi cybernan
has anyone found the solution to getting new icons to load in the chog?
Hi Cybernan.
has something changed, nan?
I changed my icon yesterday -- see it in my profile but not in the chatbox. I've tried it with both babble fireworks forever and the new expert version.
nan! i thought of you earlier today
Hi cos -- hope the thoughts were good ones!
i saw on tv they are airing "hatfields and mccoys" on lifetime on wed/thurs/fri and thought maybe if you had that channel you could get to see it
well im pretty sure it was you who said you missed it.
<<< just changed my icon -- no prob
We will be visiting the kids then, so I will miss it again!
