Yes, but improving.

you must be in the "still awake" group!?
may go off island tomorrow, have had a painting frames and anxious to pick it up
one of daughter's works
**framed
what kind of medium does she work in, flosey?
she's using oils now, started out with pastels way back and dated an artist for a while who got her into oils
I think it's lovely that you framed her art. What a great mom you are, and justly proud
she did 3 small ones and had them frames to go in our powder room
**framed
what is the subject -- or are they more abstract or color studies?
she also did an oil of our dear old dog Misha, it is hanging in the livingroom
powderroom is very simple, 2 of flowers and one a vine
you should post photos in your profile once you get them hung up
for our ensuite, it's 2 fish (with red spot on side, forget what they're called)
I have one of the dog, I'll post it tomorrow
koi?
I think so, thanks Trif
de rien
have framed it with off white border with narrow dark blue inner border, and blue frame
frame almost royal
sounds just lovely
If I'm up to it, I'll go over to pick it up, they just phoned today to say it's ready(it's at Sidney on Van Island),
is it a long trip?
no, not at all, just a 45 - 50 minute ferry ride
then 15 minute drive
that is long, once you figure in the round trip as well
yes, and waiting - they run every 2 hours
gads, I am so tired, but sleep just eludes me. I am going to be useless at work tomorrow
If I got the 10: over, would have to wait for the 1: back - unless I felt like clothes shopping while there
is there a nice tea shop or something?
well, I must get to bed, nice chatting Trif, and good luke getting sleepy
yes there are nice lunch placed
thanks flosey. good luck with your ferrying about
thankyou
and goodnight now

Morning Ruby - how are you today?

are sarah and her mom still here?
i am here :) how are you today
yes still here how are you today
i am fine - on another day off - back to work for 1 day tomorrow. Yes the weather has been pretty awful. Yesterday was vile - rained all day and was quite cold
you are so lucky to have your mom nearby, sarah

I don't think I've ever seen a grid with 7 e's
fortunately none of them has many words associated with them
the w is more problematical
lode
whoops, sorry
only have 7 w's
i am working on them now - got to 13 so far
do yu have the lone y?
yes - y 4/7 sounds like past tense of another word for shouted
many thanks, now a littl more than half, nbt and nbs
yah for ruby - down to the final 13 - was going to go out to the garden but it just started to rain again! so i shall finish here, then get a coffee and watch crappy day time tv
at least, with all this rain, it's easier to pull weeds!
thats very true - we were really chuffed yesterday - got our first tomato - it was lovely and we also pulled some rhubarb
I'm surprised that you have tomatoes already. I don't think we'll have any this year and last year, I couldn't give them away fast enough!
at least the flowers are glorious, and because spring came so late, everything blossomed at once so there are iris, roses, peopnies, campanula, dying azaleas, and several I can't name
we don't have many flowers in the garden - thats next years project. We have out tomatoes in a small greenhouse that until the beginning of June had a heater in it and we bought grafted ones - they were brilliant - but we do have about 8 plants
whee - fireworks for me - must go and get a coffee and get ready - being taken to a garden centre to find some pigeon protection for my friends sprouts
Good morning all....
lovely to see you kaz and grats on FW!
hello flask
((flask)) hi hin

np's spritey. except no wifi in hospital, so will be in communicado for 6-10 days. :(
awwww poor you. Ah well, bring a good book or two and some puzzles on paper... you will manage. And we will be thinking of you a lot!
gee, thanx, would much rather spend my time with the gang here....oh, well, suck it up, princess....right?
yeah... see it as investing in yourself, hun. You will be so glad you did it once you can walk better without pain.
you're right there spritey. so looking forward to " no pain "
pain eats energy like nobody's business. I will be very happy for you too, to be rid of that pain!
spritey, started packing my bag, re5 for hospital...that was after i found it under the spare bedroom bed....don't ask....i don't know
:D Sometimes it is like that.... and wtg on starting to pack. It will be nice to be able to leave for the hospital without having to fret.
then i realised....i won't be able to we4 my PJ's, big bandage on knee....so had to go shopping for short nightgowns

Did you Brits hear about the Starbucks fiasco?
dole
Sorry!
no what happened
Starbucks offered Big Prizes to its Irish customers if they could tell them about "what's the best thing about being" ... wait for it... "British".
What timing I have. godthaab how well did that go over?
Oh, I'm sensing some really bad jokes coming from that contest.
Go Molly
Here, I found a good one. The best thing about being British is driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.
dr5/18? please
Yea Molly! I knew you could do it.
Ah, I take no credit for that. Found it on the web. I consider it bad form to take credit for the words of another.
The best thing about being British for an Irishman is....not!
b5/16 please
Which b5/16?
similar to a french hat only bu
bu please
thank you
Ooo, Gramma is a mind reader. *Puts on tin foil hat*
Clue for the dr5/18, please?
It was the one I struggled with.
drudle should be a word! LOL
dr5/18 is a nymph of the woodland
would be a great word too
Go play with your drudle! LOL
Not wet + short for what you put in the paper to sell something
ty
I was thinking druid for some reason.
do5/16 please
don't have it medusa sorry
medusa, just found it - do5/16 - is short for a big dog
thank you
I am monkeyed the crap out of dr4/7 and am missing it
nevermind, got it LOL
KILLED THE D's !!

ve6/27 I mean

done de done done.

anything else before I take off?
I may be in here, but it's not helping....
R4 in the grid!! Strawberry shortcake in the PB!

And now I have to go eat some
so nobody will say "hello" cqan they have a special dispensation, molly?
home-grown strawberries
chez ru**
Of course. Tell them Peri said so. : )
hahah
phantom: reverb
We have Fall temperatures in June here. Only 50 degrees F. Loving it.
I don't mind heat and could use a little. More rain!
Oops forgot. We can't discuss the weather here or people will complain on Facebook.
the flowers don't know what to do....
you must be making that up!
Not really, but enough said.
did somebody really complain?
if so, we should start talking about gay marriage, Mormonism, English rule, etc., if we want to be controversial!!!!!
No kidding.
I'm ready, having rolled up my sleeves ---- will take anybody on!!!!
<--Would NEVER mess with Ruby : )
I may not be good at babble, but I'm certainly good at arguing (if called upon LOL)
you could, t'would be fun, molly!
I want a ring side seat when Ruby takes someone on and dresses them down in French. Whee!
hahah
one of the first things I learned, my first visit to France 100 years ago, was how to tell people to get lost (or worse)
it was especially important when I visited here with my son who, at 13, was very handsome
Good for you. It always helps to be prepared. : )
agreed. And nobody scares me any more
How is your son doing? How are things going with the band?
mostly, he's working his new job -- spent 2 weeks in India hiring support companies, but still plays in Austin a couple of times a month.
mostly, he's working his new job -- spent 2 weeks in India hiring support companies, but still plays in Austin a couple of times a month.
I'm a lucky mom!!!!
didn't mean to repeat that
Sounds like he's busy.
ol5 anyone?
It's an ol4 but a goodie
*Or ol5
spelled the other way, sugr
omg, I'm an idiot, thank you
ra5/16 please
Now Sug, no bashing yourself. Go have some of R4s strawberry shortcake.
ty molly
b
don't have it medusa, but will look with you
ra5/16 is if you see a racoon during the day he must be ra***
slapping self with herring!
thanks
*Hands R4 lemon juice to get the fish stench off*
you know what I find interesting about this group? In our undying supporty of each other, we really provide self-confidence that might otherwise be missing from our lives
(that sounds like a crossy tidbit)
Was it just me, or did anyone else try 'wabe'?
only those of us who've read "Alice"
Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
also wrabe
snap, JBs
lol no, I tried WABY
lol
Your earlier comment was spot on R4. Lots of support in this community.
Thank you, Lewis Carroll! Now that will be in my head all day...
(ty molly)
and why isn't rabe a word? if nori is accepted, rabe should be
I have often wondered why so many of us were forced to memorize that gibberish.
wi6/30?
Hear, hear, R4foo!
anything memorized enhances the neurons
wi6/30 is more wi4/10
Sugrraleona - more cautious
I can still remember all the sh** I was forced to memorize when I was 8-9-10. MANY years ago
that ending keeps slipping me mind - ty
Well then, I must be uber neuron enhanced with all the song lyrics in my memory banks
Would that be 'fourscore and seven, R4foo?
"breathes there a man with soul so dead....."
oh yes, and there's that
'and a bowl of noodles upon his head'
"our forefathers brought forth.....
Hmm, must be channeling Carroll...
you went to a more liberal schoool than I, JBs
Those Catholic nuns were nothing of the sort, R!
Oh God, nuns are hot for memorization.
And diagramming sentences. What was the point of THAT?
when I go to the facebook site for where I grew up, most of the anecdotes are about the awful nuns
happily, I went to public school
Grid done - check. Still in pajamas, check. Loving the chog - check. Avoiding getting dressed - MAJOR check.
If any of the nuns that taught me are still alive, I'm sure they still pray for my heathen soul.
haha, JBs...no need, no deed!
I don't think diagramming was wasted; it enables us to develop complex sentences...LOL
I wonder how a txt msg can be diagrmd...
crfly
Oh right R4. Like people use complex sentences anymore. hw r u hun?
I fine
& U?
LOL, R4foo (love typing yr name!), scared the cat.
if you want to scare your cat, bring her around here with the two monstro dogs
i m gd atm
(actually, they seem to like cats)
<-- doesn't even have a cell phone
I have to stop. I feel like a complete imbecile typing that way.
I'll extend the invitation, but don't be surprised if she disdains the company of canines!
but not as much of one as the people who walk around txtg
<---Only uses cell phone for occasional calls
Oh, that reminds me, my funny for today to share with you all -
there was a cat who used to come into the house and eat the dogs' food with nary a complaint from either one
If you say 'gullible' slowly, it sounds like 'oranges.'
OK, JBs, I've tried it NOT!
Ha! That's good! *Wonders how many people are now saying gullible over and over.
<-- for one!
more vowels!!
Me 2 <BEG>
hi hokie

Especially Es! 7 is just not enough!

Morning people.
Hi Neil; I owe you an email...
hi Neil! it's been aaages :)
not a morning person here, but I'll still say hi. ;-)
Well yes, Andrew... haven't seen you on IM and you're not now. I haven't been on that much though. Hi!
And hi Erda.
And Carla. :)
Haha. I should've typed "Morning, people" I guess.
oh boy, sorry, I left it on 'appear offline' from when I was working this morning. yeah, I took my trip back to Berlin! So I've been a little absent.
Oh yeah? So you went and returned already?
What's little comma between friends?

there was an article in today's Intl Herald Trib about how SF is becoming too pricey for the middle class
yes, similar article in NY Times
because of Silicon Valley people moving there and Twitter opening its hq
of course, same article hahah
so you will hate me when I say I have to hurry up and go running before it gets too hot?
my phantom today - deriere - hehe
think of all the money you'll save on air-conditioning kje
7am has become too hot here, viajes... and I won't run in the dark

it's about the same here, river
Isn't California becoming too pricey for just about everyone?
So I am jealous of her for that :P
because you'd melt Kje?
not for ru ; )
yeah, I thought SF was always pricey. I heard you basically had to walk in with cash to get an apartment even. I know it outprices NY
hi judi, you think 7 e's is too many?
of course, ru... sugar and spice and everything nice
didn't know that
I live in the country.. it's not as pricey as SF.. but it's more boring here
there's reasonable places in sf.. there are just certain places to avoid
phantom word : weirdo
haha, my boyfriend in Nicaragua, whenever it rained, I wouldn't want to go outside, and he'd shrug and say, "You're not made of sugar."

hey all, sun is shining, birds are singing, I am babbling. Nice to have a late start for today!
hi stid! good to see you! late start for me too!
nice icon, sue
Not teaching today stid?
sue, the Transit of Venus was a cloudy bust here in CT
bummer, bichon! It was sunny here but I didn't go up to the observatory as it was too crowded - I watched live stream (off and on) from my computer
later, jilly -- third grade, should be pretty manageable. I like that school, and although I haven't been in for that teacher I know what sort of expectations they have.
T'was a cloudy busthere, too
We watched it through our telescope... piece of paper under the lens (see icon)
I watched it on the news. Have to be content with that.
sorry to hear that seain, my friend in Newport News was able to see it for a little bit
very nice stid
i had a lovely evening at the ballpark, though. Sadly, thanks to Metro, i had to leave before the finishing of the bottom of the 12th.
pouring rain here too...guess I'll get to watch from the heavens in a 100+ years....
indeed, JJ
that's a shame, seain -- coordinating bus runs can be a drag.

NBT! wow... and the clouds are coming over. *sigh* I can't be in the garden this morning anyway, since I need to teach, but still...
I was glad that Grant and Tom saw the transit, but Matthew was at work so of course he couldn't... I hope he went home after and watched some of the videos. The videos, actually are more interesting than the actual thing.
and I am down to 54 with NBT and NBS so back tonight maybe. have a lovely day, all! *as the clouds fill the sky and make the house dark* *poof*
bye, stid!
no garden here either stid...but I AM going to take out the old desktop computer in our old "boys" room, clear the desk and get started on the homework I must do to complete my certification....

Anyone need a antique 486 tower...even has a 3" floppy drive!

We are looking for somewhere that will take them for disposal...even have an older tower with a 5 floppy!!

barring that we have these great free electonic disposal bin in town
Hoping to find a reputable one...after seeing the 60 minute piece on places these things end up!
let me guess....they take the junk, rebuild them from many parts and sell them as computers much better than they actually are
No...huge contaminated dump sites...sigh..our poor environment!

Can't recall where it was...Asia or SA, but people were living amongst these heavy metals...
we are lucky in that regard.our guys take them to a center in toronto, they grind them all up extract the usable metals and melt the plastic down

LOL Molly -- how delightful! Never made that connection before...I did dress as Lucy Ricardo several Halloweens ago.
Hello friends. Are you tired? Run down? Listless? Do you poop out at parties?
and of course, here comes my boss....after HOURS of sitting here with nothing going on....sigh.
Bosses are evil that way.
hi friends. I'm babbling from a hospital bed today. Lumbar fusion. but I feel well enough to sit up with my computer lol
Ouch Rasta. Glad you are feeling somewhat better.
they tell me 3 days. the back is spring zephyrs compared to the issues they've had with my IV. Apparently I have tiny veins
Ouch again. Are you black and blue from all the "searching"?
hi rasta
I had one 'infiltrate" which apparently means the veins collapse and all th fluids start to get forced into the tissues. Hurt way more than the surgery ste. Now they can't find another. I'm now taking oral meds, I prefer that anyway. Hi, jmc
at least the hospital provides wifi!
i understand ras........ have a daughter with tiny veins............. it took her 30 years of various hospitalizations to get her chart documented that pediatric needles and iv setups had to be used.............
Hey, that is the least they can do since you can't get any decent sleep in those places.
i had a client who was a heroin addict who had trouble when he went to the hospital because there was no untapped vein theycould use [not that i am suggesting rasta is a heroin addict]
wifi at the hospital is a wonderful thing!
well, I actually do have a lot of scarring in my elbows from giving blood religiously for a lot of years - they never seemed to have any trouble, but I think getting stuff out and getting stuff in is two different stories
yes, helps a lot.
the wifi. I can skype my dh in paris at least. And babble... lol

hi all, does anyone need clues?
gave a lot of stuff to goodwill today!! trying very hard to declutter yet again.
I love George Carlins talk about "stuff"
or is it "shit" he talks about. don't remember
and I am talking to myself again :)
I'm here, Peri. It's stuff. :)
"A place for my "stuff."
ok
most of us have way too much stuff
I love decluttering. Funny how it never looks any less cluttered here, tho, ha.
my space does look less cluttered tho. I am proud of myself.
but my computer desk is a mess and the whole place needs dusting and vacuuming. both things I really hate to do

hi all!
Heya
hi, torgone!
Hi Sue
lo5.14 what you do the Limbo with. Morning all
Heya lynxxxxxxx
hi Tor. did you move town?
krista!
Different town, same area ..
MM!
hi all
hi Scrambler - you are described in this grid - 1st bi6.27
cool lynxxx!
sorry, got buried in work again, hi Krista, magmom, scrambler, lynxxx!
hello all - hello sue
My last word - re5.16 the Superman that died. Bye everyone
yay lynxxx, and bye!
hi, wv!
Tor, are you moving towns again? That is frowned upon you know. : D
how;s retired life? or not yet?
end of June, wv, and I have two contracts from book publishers for work that needs to be done this summer so I am pretty busy.
that way you can ease in to retirement gradually - though I find I am busier than ever
It was in my way ..
that's what everyone keeps telling me, wv (about being busier than ever)
lynx the 1st superman died too, his name was george reeves and his death was a mystery, shot supposedly by William Randolph Hearst
I remember that, scrambler. It is funny to look back at the old Superman TV shows and see how pudgy he looked!
the teacher that had been my mentor early on had warned me (at my retirement dinner( to keep saying "NO" to any requests to start something new / to volunteer - and the very next week gave my firsdt "YES"
Well Tor, we'll try to look the other way...this time. : D
Was about to say the same thing, Sue. Superman with a gut (by today's standards).
My SIL retired yesterday after 40+ years of teaching. I think she would have kept teachig, but they made life miserable for her for the last several years. The older teachers make too much money.
ab 4/8 clue? I must be blind
I was pretty miserable for the last few years too, mostly because I wasn't doing research and had therefore taken on a large teaching load - unfortunately no matter how much teaching you do it isn't considered as valuable as research, so my rankings were always very poor
ab+ sometimes vowel + always vowel, scrambler, odd word
a + adios
thanks all! :3 odd duck of a word
That's too bad, Sue.
rare weather report..tornado warning have been issued for our area this afternoon hail ,damaging winds etc..i best make up some bacon sammiches ahead of time
be careful, crossy - if you don't have a tornado shelter, or a basement, the bathroom or an interior closet are the best places - stay away from the windows!
Tornados in Canada?
yes indeed..we have had them before you know lol
our problem is we are not overly experienced with them
i was in one in 1980 that tore thgrough barrie/orangeville and erin..lost my car
make sure you have water available, fill some water jugs, keep them in the tub.
We've had a couple in nor cal, also rather rare for here
ill just do the old northern storm camp standbye when the power was going to go out for a few days..sterilize the tub and just fill it with cold water
Same here, Crossy - only remember a few warnings from childhood, but it's all summer long now (Maryland).
the tornado possibly will suck the water out....
i have cash, first aid kit, instant ready no need to cook foods,a fully charged cell, flashlights kerosene lamps a dynamo powered radio..gemeni,if it lifts the roof an ceiling of this place,i will not be worried about water, plus we live on georgian bay,it is all fresh and drinkable..no oceans here:)
good,,, just sayin
my concern is the celings here is endless tonnes of pre-cast concrete slabs,so if she starts to go,i have a under the road culvert all mapped out
hmmm
sounds like the Garden of Eden in Lucas........
if that comes down,no doorway or bathtub will help
i used to install these slabs years ago on steel framework office structures.they are usuall 25 feet long,4 feet wide, hollow in the middle with insulating sound foan and weight 8500 pounds each
foam
they key into each other like wood flooring strips
probably safer than a reg wood framed house anyways
probably ,, most have basements in Kansas
keeping track, seems it may generate the cells north and east of us first
our weather travels west to east
they do funny things when near bodies of water this large.2 years ago we had a f-2 touch in a town 5 minutes up the road, destroy 1000 acres of farm land and apple trees, wander into the bay, became a water spout and was gone in 3 minutes
usually
Too bad you don't have a grill. You wouldn't need all that ready to eat food.
,if by chance it vaporizes the town, flames to cook on are not an issue,i am a ole norther camper from way back..i can roast a moose on a stick over a camp fire if need be molly
a bbq is just a fancy way of cooking:)
and it is easier to store water, ramen noodle, peanuts apples and other quick foods than pork chops for the barbie molly:)))
and wild turkey hunting is but a trip to the top of the mtn..make you a full turkey dinner :)
ok,update 4 minutes ago, looks like places a hour to the north and some an hour to the south and east are gearing up for some fun,i best get off this thing just in case tc all and ill pack molly a rack of ribs:)))...poink

One under par spelled wrong ..

hft!
HFT?
Hooray for Tor! I joined the abbreviation club.
hey all, just getting in this evening. down to 49 earlier.
scrambler, my brother/sister in law have raised Morgans and had a champ Primer in Michigan, she was Sue's baby!
wow, small world! i will go check it out now!
here to finish...been a good gorl all day working on my homework...
hey jilly
Hi stid, how was school?
it was a little challenging, but good -- usually kids in the age range I was teaching today are less deliberately antagonistic, but I was able to get them turned around pretty well.
tomorrow I go to a school I have never been in. And the day after same thing, except that I know at that school my mother taught the kids and I might even be remembered by a few of them. Which would be a good thing.
Good job stid! *raises glass for toast* how many more days of school out there?
Good evening Babblers
hiya wht!
Depends on the district, jilly -- a couple end this week, a couple next week. I think my son's district ends the latest of all, June 21.
hey wht!
Wanting to finish up my last 28.
I was going to try to not work the last week in any of the schools, then I realized that I can "push" a little harder this month because the way they pay, some districts don't issue checks for work until almost two months later.
so the more I work now the more of a cushion I have when school starts up again in the fall.
Wow...that is late. We had graduations last weekend, this is the last week for everyone else.
We had over a week of no school for many districts because of the very bad snow/ice storm in January. It took several days to get roads and electricity back up in a lot of places.
tom is home!
Where are you Stid? Here in Massachusetts schools don't get out until next week, and we only had a couple of snow days, but those were for the October snow storm.
and there are the --->sparkles<----
wtg Jilly
Yay Jj!
Yep torgone...MUCH better than last night...lol...I wanted to cry....
Pacific NW, wht, we had a doozy toward the end of January
ordinarily our side of the mountains gets a few inches, kids enjoy a snow day and everything is ready to go the next day. This time the storm dumped up to a foot in some places, followed by ice, followed by rain. Trees down EVERYWHERE.
I think "deraw" should be a word, synonym for cook
Well...must toddle off .... back to homework...niters stid, torgon, wht and all lurkers... :) *poof*
sweet dreams jilly -- good luck with the studying
Niters Jj
hi everyone
tor my love! Part of my teaching today involved watching 3rd graders take swim lessons... I kept thinking about your fb post about what drowning looks like. Not that I needed to worry, between all the teachers and the lifeguard and the swim coach the kids were going to be safe no matter what.
Hi Jen
clue for the dr5,18 please
hey je
I mean jen
hey
hi, folks!
hi welki
Anyway, I was struck (once again) by the synchronicity of events. Somehow, you knew that it would come in handy. Because I remembered what to look for it was a lot less stressful!
hey welki!
dr5.18 a faerie or nymph
dr 5/18 -- like a greek nymph-goddess
hey LBD!
hi stiddy! hi everyone
Seriously serendipitous ..
ty lbd. Babble Blindness strikes again. But it isn't keeping me from seeing my nice fireworks.
ohhh dawg, did you get those storms last night?
Yay wht!
whooo hooooo WHT!!
yes, welki. thunder and lightning and rain rain rain!
here, too - lots of flooding. and a few tornados to the east
i heard the reports for MT and was worried for you and jillyjill
tornado on the east side of the mountains, near Choteau. and Pony I think, but not sure. flood stages for flathead and northfork getting close, about a foot to go
yep - here, the bow, the elbow and red deer river are going to crest
Jilly and Jane are south of here, they're pretty safe. Trentsnana is probably digging out of snow, she's a lot higher in elevation than any of us.
