good morning Babble friends
hello sprite..been awfully quiet in he**
hi west! Just in between 2 waves of babblers, I think
how have you been?
not too bad. Working hard to get better. And you?
busy..and my computer was not working right so I couldn't chat
aw :( Computers are like cars. They just got to work, and not have problems.
granddaughter Megan is 9 years old today..seems like she was just bo**
oooohhh congratulations! Incredible.
she's an incredible young lady
:D Yay for Megan!
how are your children..is school over ?
no, not yet he4. They still have 3 more weeks to go. They are doing well. Son is acting up a lot lately. But he is 16 so that is pretty normal :)
I remember those days..someday he'll give you darling grandchildren
:D :D Does it sound stupid when I say I really look forward to grandchildren, even though I hope my kids won't start with kids of their own until they are a good ways into their twenties?
not stupid at all..they'll be good parents..they have wonderful examples
awww that is a wonderful thing to say, west. Thank you :)
I hope they find good partners as well..that's so important
and how is the furry boy?
absolutely. Did I tell you that my son has been going steady with a girl for 2 years now? That is pretty long at his age. If she is an example of his choice, he will do fi4. She is a good 'un.
the furry boy is awesome! Happy as can be, and totally adorable still.
and how are your loved ones, west?
that's so nice..Liam and Beth went together 5 years and have been married 12
we are all good sprite..two daughters live on the west coast now but we saw them in April
wow that is great. Well I don't expect it to last into adulthood, but you never know. For some people it does.
we'll be married 47 years next Tuesday
hah, good morning.
hi ruby so nice to see you
hi ruby :) Counting down now... 4 more nights!
I just wrote to you, sprite, this time to the correct address.
west, that is wonderful! I think it is beautiful, people who are willing to invest into their relationship through life.
ooh so happy for both of you
hehehe good for you, ruby ;)
{{westford}} 47 years, you deserve a medal. If I had stayed married to my first husband, it would have been 50 years on 4 June.
it is gonna be so much fun. It is already fun!
I have the world's most patient husband
nah, that is only half of the story, west. Your husband has a wonderful wife as well.
that is surely true, westfor
thanks sprite lol we do have fun
d*
lol ruby... just read your mail. Late to bed and early to ri4... makes our ruby not healthy, not wealthy, but wise ;)
<-- will never have grandchildren, dil's choice :(
I think that is SO important, to be able to have fun together. My love and I laugh about everything and nothing... just silliness actually... but it is wonderful.
but you have them by proxy?
poor ruby :( You can adopt mine if you like. My kids, I mean, lol.
you are both very fortunate!
sprite will be good for Burt..she'll get him laughing
I know, ruby! I count my blessings every day.
happily, my son is terrif and we have a good relationship, can talk about anything, even though he's so far away
I guess miracles do happen.....
Burt is realy looking forward to her visit, more than when it's his friends or his daughter visiting. Go figure!
oh yes, Burt and I and ruby will have fun. I have this odd feeling that I will like Burt a lot. I have a think for grumpy old men ;)
amazing, isn't it ruby? It is like a feeling that we will all click. As if we already know.
not think but thing, of course.
how about I trade you one of you kids for Burt and I'll throw in a car and 200 books!
lol but no trading puppies
roflollllllll nothing on this earth will buy you one of my kids. But you can adopt them as grand kids if you like :)
no, nothing could come between me and my pups!!!!
bring photos!
lol no, no trading puppies. I love my Terra way too much. But I will love the chows too.
photos... good idea... will try!
rufie is going through a phase of wanting constant contact
I'm re-naming him "Bumpo"
lol
Natty Bumpo
I thought of that, too
he is the cutest and the BIGGEST pup. At 6 months I think he weighs about 40 lbs
sprite won't miss Terra as much with your pups around
it's hard to tell because I can't lift him any longer
I wish I lived closer to both of you
can you imagine what fun we three would have?
Europe is so civilised
except for my garden which looks a little jungle-ish
oh yes that would be a blast
*kicks ruby gently in the behind for nagging about her beautiful garden*
west, I wish! Would love to see you.
one of these days...
darn... disappear(ed) again is not a valid word :(
off subject..Dallas had hockey puck sized hail stones..did Austin get any?
omg that is big!
millions in damage
I haven't talked to John
they do big in Texas
I bet. Amazing, so big.
I think Texas is so big, that Dallas might have its own weather, but I'll send him a note asking
hail is beautiful, but scary
yes indeed.
that wild fire in Colorado is right where my father-in-law had his cabin
it came up for sale again and we almost bought it
oh dear... is he alright?
I love this grid but ish I had more time
I love this grid but ish I had more time
wish*
how close is the fire?
he died in 2005 if I know him he's laughing his head off
it is a good grid, I love it too
wild fires are frightening AND unpredictable, dependent on local wind
:D good for him, west!
it's nature's way..unfortunately that doesn't make people who lose their homes feel better
I would hate to lose my ho4 like that
the fire is the size of Washington DC
last year it was burning all around Austin, but John was lucky and had made all sorts of contingency plans. He and DIL are very organized
west, that is really scary. Something we can hardly imagine he4 in our small country.
the volunteers are saving others' homes while theirs burn
I guess the order of "saving" things is: dogs, photgraphs, mementos of my mother
absolutely
husband and kids and dog, wallet, computers, ereader, knitting :)
passport
that is in my wallet
funny story..the garage next door was on fire when I was little..my mother was giving herself a home permanent and wouldn't leave..she put her fur coat and photo albums by the front door and said she would go if she had to
lol quite a lady, your mother :)
she sounds like a woman after my own heart
she still is..just had her 96th birthday
jewelry -- I could live off that for a while
whoot...sliding in sideways. just home from work. great excitement there today. it actually made it inti the news on TV
woooot west! Incredible.
wow rose, please tell!
oh yay! I have been missing rose every day!
hi rose what did you do? lol
what happened at work?
we are undergoing major renovations, and the crane fell over, onto our new cardiac cath. lab. noboddy hurt.
oh thank goodness !!
hey ruby, westy, sprite
cranes are scary!
they're so big
bit o9f a gigggle in one way, this construction group are idiots. earlier this week one of their vans sank to it's axles in mud, and had to be pushed out by a bull-dozer
ruby... do you like your jenever old or young?
omg... rose... how scary!
old but I love both! dissolute nel!
*giggle* ok, thank you :D
and they have poured the slab for our new recovery room 3" too high
<-- going to he** in a handbasket!
it sounds like something out of a 3 stooges movie, rose!
do they hit each other with ladders?
it does
love, hugs to all, going into lurk mode and tackling this grid
a complete farce, grin
my favorite saying..'where are we going and why am I in this hand basket ?'
ok rose, have fun *hugs*
lol west!
ruby, it is so amusing to watch them. one of them looks like neanderthal man.
very reluctantly, I have to go and take care of old Burt. He wants his Campari and it's the least I can do as he's trying to be so nice. He's even looking for a duck for sprite but he may have to shoot one from the lake!
bye rose and bye from me too..it's almost 5
so a floorshow comes with the construction work. How bad is that?
hahaha please tell him chicken will be fine, ruby! I am easy that way :)
and give him my regards too
{{big hug and bisous for my friends}}
bigs hugs for all *poof*
bye west *hugs*
night westy
night ruby
looks like I am left all alone :(
sort of, sprite, i am lurking
hehehe true :) You are with me in spirit, right?
Hi sprite - I still here plugging awa.
*away
hi Dianne :)
btw, if you go into whichever search engine you use, look for world news, melbourne, victoria, australia, you may actually see so4 pics of the accident
will look. Am very glad nobody was hurt.
valley private hospital?
that's it, sprite
:) found it
pfui that looks very clumsy
ya think??
Good morning everyone long time since I have visited :):)
morning jean
jean, you picked a good grid to come back to
I have grannyrose its a nice kind one:)
hi jean! Great to see you. Yes, a very nice grid.
Thank you sprite nice to see you too:)
:)
I have a fun babble thing to tell: will visit rubyfoo and her husband and dogs next week!
Are they far from you sprite?
dinner ready, bbl. again hugs to all, see you at the flip if you have gone when i come back
not as americans or canadians would see it, lol. I am near Amsterdam, ruby is near Geneva.
bye rose, will be thinking of you. Take care, dear one *hugs*
bye grannyrose:)
Oh wow you have a wonderful time sprite:)
about 700 km... 430 miles
yes, we are all really looking forward to it! I will leave on Tuesday.
sprite - how long will you stay?
Thats about the same distance as I am from Scotland:)
I will travel back home on saturday
doable, isn't it jean
Are yo?
I'll try again - are you taking the train?
Totally Dianne I have driven to Scotland in my old camper van in one day:)
yes I am! Decided against driving myself. Will go by fast train and enjoy the freedom and luxury.
cool, jean :)
That's the way to do it - no stress, no pit stops
Totally agree if you go by train you can see so much when you drive you have to concentrate or at least thats the plan lol
exactly. And no worries about route or car trouble etc. I have to switch trains in Paris. Metro from Gare du nord to gare de lyon.
hehehe lol jean, too true!
lol lol that brought back memories my camper van was 31 years old and I broke down 5 times lol all adds to the journey !
ouch, that is more than an adventure
lol par for the course with vw campers lol
true. But the good thing is, they are always repairable.
I once took the Orient Express from
and for whatever reason I still miss her I have a regular car now cannot make lunch and a cuppa in her though lol oh Dianne I bet that was wonderful
Venice to Paris
really Dianne? That must have been awesome.
with cars like that you develop a bond. It may be silly to some, but it is true.
It was absolutely amazing - fancy dress dinner -music in the bar car - a terrific anniversary gift.
Oh I so agree sprite she was called ermantrude and just recently I noticed she was for sale again on ebay I felt so sad:(
so romantic! And it reminds me of Agatha Christie's book.
awwww poor ermantrude :(
Absolutely I would expect to see inspector Poirot!
Dianne thats gift you will always treasure:)
My husband and I eloped when we were very, very young and never had a honeymoon. for our 30th anniversary he planned a 3 day honeymoon. Some of the grandest memories of my life.
@30 day hineymoon
Oh wow thats brilliant:):):)
Wonder what a hineymoon would be like
Dianne that is so wonderful :)
I am miffed that disappear(ed) again and sort of in a short time are not valid words!
Well I'm off - out to dinner tonight with a girlfriend. See you tomorrow.
Bye Dianne have a lovely dinner:)
I have to go also its been really good to come to babble again I wont leave it so long next time:) happy babbling everyone
bye Dianne, have a good one. And you too, jean!
anyone around? Check out this little vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv 1tMioGgXI

hi Christine
oops, sorrry -- but it's a gift to you, if you don't already have it.
:) Thank you!
Hi Sprite. Just reading the chat, and didn't change boxes/ Have a wonderful holiday, visiting Rubyfoo.
thank you Christine! It is so much fun... even just the planning is already fun.
oh... I want to clue a Hi6/24... cryptic clue... may I?
please do
hi6/24: smack the lady!
LOL good one Sprite
good morning everyone
hi Nanette :) Thanks... had to share it ;)
Oh Sprite - I was trying to work it out, and realised I had it as hi6 and yon.
yeah that is correct, lol. It was just a cryptic clue, for fun.
And a good one, it was !!
*whispers: I have the most wonderful presents for rubyfoo and husband!*
Will you tell us now, or must we wait until after the trip?
ooooh Sprite would love to know what they are but I know Ruby could come in at any moment
I have arranged for herring to be vacuum-packed and sealed, which they both love but can never get... and a map of a dutch town for husband of a place he once worked... and jenever (dutch gin) for ruby!
nah she is busy with husband and making lunch. I hope.
oh what thoughtful gifts
I am sitting here all smiles, because everything I wanted is working out!
such a wonderful feeling, if everything is coming your way, isn't it :)
absolutely! You both must be so excited to meet each other
I am! It is funny, because I have ptsd and usually am too easily panicked to try something like this. But it feels good and I am looking forward to the trip so much. I have a feeling that 3 days will be too short, lol.
I'm baaaack - and just in time to read about the gifts. I hope Rubyfoo doesn't read back over the chat, when she returns/
we must talk so4 more he4 and then she cannot see it, unless she opens the archives :)
and wb Christine!
went only to the kitchen, to make a cuppa.
yummy! My husband is home today and he brought me a cuppa too. So lovely.
this grid is moving right along but still need an O from the last column
or + act comes from there
ahhh thank you so much Sprite!
and also or***pedic
yvw :)
thats nbt finally
wtg!
Sprite, I just looked at your icon - priceless. May I send it to my sisters>
yes of course! I love it too :)
oh that is an excellent one, Sprite. If you dont mind I would love to use it as an icon at a couple of forums
no problem at all, feel free to steal it :)
Thanks , I will. I know others will get a kick from it
it is a really cool one, I love it :)
I have 25 left, must go for a little while to hang up the laundry and fix my love's puter. Back later. *hugs*
I have a neighbour who can't slee, so she wakens her little dog, and walks up and down the driveway 0- and when she sees my light is on, she comes i to chat ... I need to introduce her to Babble.
bye Sprite
it is an excellent thing to do when you cant sleep
hello again
Hi Ruby!
hi hi no no
Whooo got those red bars. I think I should introduce her to Babb le.
If you see sprite again, tell her a duck flew in! She'll understand
she will be back in a bit
but I will pass the message along if I am still here
we were looking for a duck and husband found one to order! yay
I've only made it twice before, but it's great fun to do it
phantom: dobro -- weird guitar
I take it you are planning to cook it while Sprite is visiting?
sprite is arriving in the late afternoon and it will be ready for dinner1
not duck a l'orange, duck a ruby with plums
yummy what a nice welcoming meal
after that, dinner will be "pick up" as lunches will be in restos
but if the duck is a bust, you will all hear about it!
good plan, don't waste your time together slaving in the kitchen
we are going to play scrabble non-stop
can someone clue the bottom in the rh column please
I think that would be the ee5/10
very strange
it's a mystery, jenny
thanks nono and ruby
yw
aND CREEPY.
er4, et5, et6, et5, et4
hi Rose
ooh, I deleted that, and still it showed up ... very er5, no?
ooh, I deleted that, and still it showed up ... very er5, no?
{{rose}} what are you doing up to late? Are you in pain????
so* not to
nah, 23 to go, and i'm stubborn, don't wanna go to bed until finished...so what else is new????
enrobe
whoops, sorry
Thank you. I didn't have that.
dang Ruby, you might try slipping one I don't have in :)
(blushing)
back :) Hi all
hello again, sprite, struggling away
lol ruby... nice one
hello, again
118 words but quickly getting sleepy
wb sprite
yeah same here, last few are tough to find
last few! 155!!!!!
gals, how do you say in english when you eat something and it goes the wrong way so you cough like crazy?
24 left here
It went down the wrong hole.
*went down the wrong pipe*
choked lol
hello everyone
{{annie}} tell Bobby I received his note and thank you both
ah thanks! Happened to me just now... hubby fixed me a lovely egg on br5 and it went down the wrong pipe. Yeah, almost choked, lol.
Hi Annie
oh, I am glad
hi Annie!
hi sprite and nono
Then, in England we say (as you splutter) 'cough up, chicken, it might be a gold watch"
ruby: wonderful about the duck!
if it ever happened to me, husband would just stand th***, wouldn't have a clue
roflollll Christine!
((ruby))I just told Bobby and he is delighted
when I've needed adrenalin shots for severe allergy reactions, he just stood th***, incapacitated
I was showing him the vid I linked earlier... let me find it. It is so funny!
I haven't lived in England for more than 50 years, so perhaps they no longer say that in the east end of London.
I could have died on the floor but, fortunately, I can give myself shots
this is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= Xv1tMioGgXI
not everybody is able to react aptly in crises. I am glad you could helpp yourself, ruby :)
I wouldn't be around, otherwise! Have also learned hot to give him shots when he's laid up.
how*
for some reason both s's in the grid are invisable to me
naughty little Sses are hiding!
can you all hear the barking? dogs are after something in the driveway! it's really loud!
dowwwwwwn boy!
hope its not an intruder Ruby
I think they would protect me with their lives, even the puppy
I'm sure they would
BTW, sprite, I never told B. what actually happened with Max. It is our secret!
Ruby, what did happen to Max?
oh ok dear... what did you tell him then?
he drowned in the fishpond where he had gone, every night for years, for his late-night drink
awwwwe so sorry Ruby!
I told Burt that somebody probably found him, wandering around, and adopted him to a good home as he was so sweet and beautiful
no point in telling him what actually happened as he would have felt responsible
agreed. No sense in beating himself up over something like that
since it's "his" fishpond
very wise. I will not blab.
happily, Rufie makes him smile again
the truth may not always be the best thing; we have to protect those we love
in some instants, truth is overrated. I fully agree. No need to make him feel sad and bad.
waaahhhh, 1 to go....and i can't find it. :(
lolllll which starting letter and which length?
he was so terribly broken up about Max's disappearance that the truth would only have made it worse -- and then Rufie came 10 days after!
it's a t and a t4, for goodness sake
that Rose is so smart!!!!!
i have 8 t4's granny
(not even at half)
is it the bird?
if i was so smart, how come i can't fi4 the last word???
ok, let me see.... te x 2
th x 29
darn scratch that
I guess not, since that's a twofer (also a plural)
th x 20
ti x 7
tr x 8
aha, have th 19, so missing a th4
you are darn smart, lady :) Just a tiny spot of babble blindness!
have 5 th 4's
you are all just pulling my chain! hahah
th4... formal form of you... time word....
not fat
th and "wake up and smell the **ses"
first part of needing a drink
no now
first part of what comes after 29
and the one Annie clued
ha!!!! th4/ 5, now and th4, and am done. thanx all
those are all the th4s, rose
yayyyyy well done rose!
yay for rose!!!!
YAY for grannyrose!!!!
wtg Rose!!
way to go
rose, when spriote is he**, we'll send you powerful healing vibes across the many miles
or even sprite*
now to finish the other half of the bottle of bourbon, and bed, if i can fi4 it, lol
hehehe sleep well, rose!
bouron, hmm....
sweet dreams, rose
a little bitters, sugar and an orange slice -- how bad can that be
or even bourb0n*
finish the bourbon and you wont even need a bed Rose
have been lately, sprite. was over-tired on tuesday, but on the right track nwo.
we have bees here, about 1 1/2 inches long, called bourdons and they are gorgeous and don't sting.
wtg rose. Take care of you. *hugs*
when they come in the(always open) house, I rescue them
are they real bees, ruby, or humblebees?
that's a good question. I've ordered a book on French insects because the locals don't have the needed science
they are beautiful -- multicolored and fuzzy
ruby, when we went to NZ on our cruise, we saw the biggest bumblebees ever. they are just amazing.
bumblebees? Not sure, grin.
My Grandma taught us, if you speak quietly to them, and are gentle, you can put them outside, without being stung. Always works for me.
and when they come in the house, Rufie barks at them
sounds like a bumblebee to me. They can take up so much pollen that they cannot fly anymore.
me, too, Christine
humble bees, you say??
I only sqush waps, because I'm afraid the dogs will get stung\
hm, I do something like that with wasps. I really hate wasps. I always tell them: ei6 you fly out by yourself now, or you will become a very very flat wasp. Always works.
they are too proud to be humblebees
no, I think it is bumblebee, Christine.
so...it's nearly 10pm he4. think i might meander ( good word, meander) off to bed. night all. see you at the flip.
maybe I should speak to our wasps in French but fortunately, they don't come in the house
nite Rose, sleep well
{{rose}}
this is a bumblebee: http://www.dierplaagcontrol .nl/fileupload/8b86f826a218de1411ce444 fa456947c1664780252.jpg

I finally have a morning partially to myself, and I am feeling mighty slothful, I must admist
What else are mornings to yourself for?
cleaning, laundry, phone calls, dog grooming, cleaning, gardening, cooking, cleaning, and oh yes, cleaning
molls you clue popped up after i went away. . . so ty and now i am leaving the computer completely for a while! *hands molls a tissue on the way out the chog*
why does molls need a tissue? are you sick sweetie?
her clue was ignored, and she's feeling down.
oh, yes, I see - sorry molly! the chog goes rather too fast for me sometimes
Yes, but you can do all those things when others are around. True slothfulness is only achieved when alone.
good point, molly the wise!
and I like to rationalize it by saying that babble is keeping my gray matter perking, and thus therapeutic
Exactly!
Also, rest and doing things you enjoy are just as important as the responsible stuff. It keeps you balanced.
yes, but it is awkward when I was across the kitchen floor and it pulls my socks off
Take your socks off.
you are my kind of woman, molls!
ooooh, my boyfriend is in the grid! hello Colin!
morning all!
The way I see it, we women (especially Mothers) have precious little time to ourselves. So when we get it, we should do what makes our hearts sing.
good morning sue!
hey all
I do agree, molly, but I also feel really good when things are under control and I can feel proud that I am managing to stem the tide. It's a matter of balamce, like anything else, isn't it?

hi scrabbs, welcome back..sounds wonderful
Then you can walk around town and go to the overlook spots in parks. There is even a covered wagon (pulled by horses) ride in the gorge next to the creek.
that would be more my speed

Looking for you, Medusa. I just started.

Mostly ok, but waves of deep sadness when she misses my father so much.
so sad
It is, and I miss him too, sometimes intensely, but I am reminded that he died swiftly and that was a blessing really.
yes, even though it was tough on you.
I don't think of that very much now.
I realize why I haven't seen you in a while. We had consecutive vacations.
I was gone for 5 days in PA.
yes, I read down. sounds nice.
Take a vacation in Wellsboro, PA, Hego. A wonderful old town.
Good morning, lads and lasses.

hey all, sorry I missed scrabs
hey hego! nice to have you back! :-)
Hi stid :)
ty Stiddy
Hi Stid. Of course I "need" to find a few more words. Choosing a swim outfit is not something I enjoy. I prefer to skinnydip.
oops, there she goes again.
:-) I was thinking, if you were to swim really at "land's end" you might not need a suit. LOL
exactly
Precisely--I paddle in remote areas and go natural!
lol, crossy imagine kayak paddle tan line on scwabby....
sounds fun
Crossy--imagine tan lines from wearing a PFD.
I don't paddle and certainly don't swim... *sigh* although I did find my old swimsuit (used once) that might still fit. Will try it on later this month. No pool close by and it's foolhardy to deliberately swim where we live. Too many pathogens.

reminds me of the time the mrs and i tried naked golfing..was a disaster was those long drives off the tee that hurt me..big swing with that 1 wood and the boys down below were not happy..and those long walks to the second shot in the heat and the open fairway, used to carry the one wood just so to keep the boys in the shade..wife said all i needed was a spare putter...
TMI, cross... *rolls eyes*
what a picture!!
was many a time one of my balls was blocking a players next shot...needed danger pay for that course
golf balls that is:)
*gasp, choke*
took up neeked darts after that, but that is for another day

(Fast hinters here today!)
hello everyone
ta river, it seems so easy now.!
its the only 8 I had
"have
i`m just finishing off as the wife has too do the ironing as i have a week of golf comps at present, retirement sure is hard.
hi River. Haven't seen you for a while. How are things with you?
Well Nef, it's a good thing River clued it as my clues are invisible.
I am well - busy at work lately so sneak in from time to time but no real time to chat
rough life, ron! ;-)
are you using invisible internet connection?
I doubt that you are invisible, Molly.
feeling bad for you roncook
I feel bad for his ironing wife!
lol roncook.as of april first this year i joined the ranks of the semi-retired and i tell you i am busier that ever before!! wife keep my to do list so full that i wonder how i ever had time to hold a full time job all those years
i do treat her to a bottle of champagne as a thank you.
<---looks around for Molly but cant see her
some folks love to iron like Mom
how often, ron? I don't mind ironing; just as long as I have time to do it and no one is rushing me
my m.i.l loves to iron, she irons doilies, tea towels jeans lol.will iron anything
i used too have to when i wore a uniform but retirement is casual gear now except for golf.
my mother used to iron by fathers boxers - not that is taking it too far
*my
we will not get into how i golf again today:)
and i got a case of mixed champagnes from my airmiles so thety are technically freebies.
I have one aunt that would iron sheets and pj's; I never asked if she ironed underwear (but I know her dtr. asked her not to iron bras when she was a teenager!)
very nice:)
thanks for not going there again crossy. (I didn't mention it on purpose earlier)
my Mom ironed sheets too - I refused when I took over the ironing as a teenager
i am still trying to digest the suggestion of a pair of spalding tatoos
I guess I will be scrolling back to see what Crossy said.....
I must get back to work - have a great day everyone
tc river
bye River! HAGD!
see? now river will be working away and in the back of her mind she will be thinking..spalding tatoos???
when i was in the navy the only item we did`nt iron was our socks and everything had to be creased somewhere.
really ron? (DH never told me that....)
(I didn't know he knew how to iron!)
ron - you just explained why my BF likes to wear wrinkled clothes now!
if it moves, clean it,if it does not move paint it,if you wear it,iron it
Good - because I hate to iron!
in our navy you had to have 7 creases in each trouser leg in our bell bottoms in/out
How do you fit 7 creases?
(trying to imagine where 7 creases would go....)
hi hoot, love your icon today!
I would imagine a lot of chaffing!
TY - I ry to change the owls but everyone likes these so much I'm just leaving them up!
from the bottom every 4 inches or the width of our pay book alternative ways if you were a short ar*e you only put 5 in.
hi Nef
crossy also likes the owls
what kind of owls are they?
ty!
Tou mean the creases are horizontal?
so the creases went ACROSS the legs? wow! Would never have thought of that
Couldn't tell you offhand. Probably artist rendering though. Not too many really look at owls.
That sounds like punishment ron
well the royal Navy was hot on giving us meaninless tasks not like your "modern" navy.
Riiiigghhhtttt! "our" modern navy! LOL
i used to crease them and keep them in a pleated skirt press to save having to do them to often.
(uh-uh. DH just got up. It's 10:30 AM, my day of relaxing and laying around in my jammies is probably done. BBS, fully dressed and ready for the day!)
I love to see a pic of accorion pants!
accordian!
I'd love to see them too!
crossys tidbit of the day and meaningless tasks.did you know it takes 7!! years to fully paint all the paintable surfaces on the golden gate bridge? often the first crew will still be painting on the far end when the next crew starts on the other side and it never ends..ever
Sounds like they need better paint!
maybe a paint and primer in one eh? lol
Well it's a job for life!
indeed hoots
may`be a job for life but after a few years of slapping paint on that bridge suicide might be a better option.
My stomach just twisted. Time for food. bb soon.
after-morni-noon babblers!
Does seem boring but the job security nowadays is great!
lol,not sure how many crews they are running or how many in a crew, but staring at the same mound of rivits for 33 years could make one s cheese slide off his cracker
shent
nuts!
sorry,i stand corrected and must revise my tidbit of the day as crossy has been misled...
Many misconceptions exist about how often the Bridge is painted. Some say once every seven years, others say from end-to-end each year. Actually, the Bridge was painted when it was originally built. Until 1965, only touch up was required. In 1965, advancing corrosion sparked a program to remove the original lead-based paint (which was 68% red lead paste in a linseed oil carrier). The removal continued to 1995. In 1965, the original paint was replaced with an inorganic zinc silicate primer and acrylic emulsion topcoat. In the 1980s, this paint system was replaced by a water-borne inorganic zinc primer and an acrylic topcoat. The Bridge will continue to require routine touch up painting on an on-going basis
Currently, a revered and rugged group of of 13 ironworkers and 3 pusher ironworkers along with and 28 painters, 5 painter laborers, and a chief bridge painter battle wind, sea air and fog, often suspended high above the Gate, to repair corroding steel. Ironworkers replace corroding steel and rivets with high-strength steel bolts, make small fabrications for use on the Bridge, and assist painters with their rigging. Ironworkers also remove plates and bars to provide access for painters to the interiors of the columns and chords that make up the Bridge. Painters prepare all Bridge surfaces and repaint all corroded areas.
wow !! and my wife says i am full of usefull information,i think i spelt that right. lol !!
and that is that:)
roncook,my wife says i am the king of useless informatiomn
touche !
You never know when information will be useful. LIke basic research.
good to learn something new every day:)
for instance,i have had the same car since new for 8 years now(a 2004 toyota echo) and i just learned last month that there is a slide out cubby drawer under the front passanger seat:)
so you did`nt get a manual with your car !!
manual?
think i saw it last when the dealer put it in the glove box..will have to look at it one day
back
wb nef
that the book you get from the dealer with all the information about other toyotas on sale in europe.
lol,if i am in europe soon i will dig the manual out then and bring it with me:)
Wow, I wonder how long it takes to paint our Chesapeake Bay Bridge, which is a 4.3 mile span.
i sold my toyota supra 15 yrs ago and now have a vw golf
Mollyl how long is a piece of string !!
bo7 please
bo7...a child is bo4 + not day but n***
thanks
my used 2008 Toyota Rav4 came without a manual; first time that ever happened. I have buttons I still don't know what they are for! (I love imagining what the "Auto LSD" is for, worried about trying it while driving though! ;-)
ty Moll
*Wonders what a piece of string has to do with a bridge*
thanks Molly
lol nef,it is a pnumatic powered emergency ejection seat
why would you want to be ejected from a car???
lol,for that uncontrolled slide that is about to send you over a cliff perhaps
you sure it isn't a hallucinogenic drug, crossy?
you may need that button if there is a gaseous discharge from your passenger after a curry.
Ask a gearhead what a Limited Slip Differential is.
That would depend on what side the cliff was on.
All I know is it has something to do with the 4 wheel drive.
LOL! We've had lots of fun trying to figure that one out and also another one (which I can't remember right now)
first bo5 please
it locks the wheels and stops them slipping as you rev up to drive away
my son mentioned that too, Molly; but I don't have 4WD
Here is what Google says: LSD: Limited Slip Differential. In a 4x4 system powers front wheels only until those slip, then sends up to 45% of total power to rear wheels, depending on front-wheel traction. System can be manually locked into 4x4 mode with 55/45 front/rear power split for demanding conditions by pressing the LSD button.
what people do at a bad concert
what people did!
good old google how did we manage in the dark ages prs computer.
Then I can't explain it, Nef. It remains a mystery.
thanks
as I said, we have fun trying to figure these out. (I'll go see what the other button is
works on 2 wheel drive used in race cars
but it's a Rav 4 - surely the 4 means 4wd
yw
Whatever, it's supposed to give you better traction if you are stuck.
fireworks at last must go and stare at a glass or 6 of alcohol,.
yaa for roncook!
YAY, ron!!! WTG!!!
byeee it has been great chatting to you about the really important issues in life.
too bad you are not here ron,i would make you my famous long island iced tea and not from that bar pre mix crap
Believe it or not, not all Rav 4
Rav 4's have 4 wheel drive
then shouldn't it be a rav2?
i`m on the pernod and water at present.
the other button shows a car going down a very steep hill and is labeled "DAC" I thought de-accelertator, but DH came up with something else
I agree Rasta, but it's a Toyota so, well, you know.
then it might be a "dead button" i have a air conditioner button in my car,but never had the unit installed, but it is there if i desire it in the future
I had a tercel when they first came out. Ten years, no hassles. Now have a Tacoma truck. The baby one. Now 12 years old has been to Tx (UGH), the Pacific and still only 65,000 miles. Loaded gets 25mpg and I love it.
trenome
Rav 4 minus 2
It seemed a good guess, tree gnome after all
crossy loves toyotas:)) in 8 years i have changed a tail light buld and done the front brakes once and it get 46 mpg
bulb
I tried to download the manual, but they only would give me about 3 or 4 pages on tire pressure and windshield wipers etc. Nothing on buttons
25 mpg you want to live here with petrol (gas) £1.50 a litre if i can`t get 50 plus to gallon i will not buy it.
we are 1 dollar 30 a litre and 25 mpg is harsh
Hey the truck is 12 years old !
if i cannot get 40+ per u.s gallon,i will not buy it
1.5 dollar to £ sterling
ouch
ron, I wanted something with higher mpg; but we needed something for DH's wheel chair and to carry his electric scooter too.
BF liked mine so much he decided to buy one too. But the 2005 models are BIG and he doesn't get the milage I can get.
12 yrs old must be contrbuting to global warming a lot lol
True enough Nef. Not everyone can drive tiny cars that get great gas mileage.
lol easy on her ron,we get citioys here who own hummers and get 8-12 mpg
citiots
we use people carriers for wheel chairs i think you call thwm caravans.
and the 45 foot boats they use.i used to slop 300-500 dollars of fuel in them and it would give them a afternoon on the water
dislecxic spelling again
We just have idiots who race us to red lights. I wondered when I first got here why all the cars seemed new and almost all had a crease in them.
I'm disappointed in my 28mpg on my Rav; I really wanted something that would give us greater than 30 mpg. We bough it 2 yrs ago; NOW they are coming out with higher mpg vewhicles that will carry handicapped large items.....
the Q.E 2 and other large vessels of the cruise ship variety get 2 geet per gallon..
feet
think of that next time you hop on that cruise ship for a month
oh my!
yer but cunard use heavy oil in their engines instead of deisel for better economy.
lol what? 4 feet per gallon?
off to Costa Rica in october cruising and spending my carbon miles,
my frother just finished 5 years in CR
brother
who worries about global warming in 50 yrs i wont be here anyway.
he says even though it is amazing even paradise pales after a while
and don`t get me started about tar sands in Canada.
we wont, and we wont bring up the space program belching tons of crap into the air:)
we all have guilt in this
gotta go see you`ll soon have a great day where you are and keep taking the tablets.
you keep those meds up as well ron
but crunch the numbers on the carbon foot print of that iceland volcano...we just all have to do our best
hell i bet the rolling stones private jet beats that.one 747 moving a handfull of singers and their roadies around the planet..hehe
crossy, unfortunately, we ALL contribute to the problem, just some do a lot more than others. Even Mother Nature is at fault....
ahhh... breaking in the new office with a yummy lunch. :)
new corner office eva?
not the corner, but its a big deal here to get a walls that go all the way up to the ceiling and a door...
ahh no more dilbert cublicles for you ;))
correct. :)
yaa for eva!!!
funny what pleases us in different jobs,,i spent the last 30 years outside in every type of crappy weather imaginable..rain,sleet hail,snow,40 beolow or 110f taking care of my customers and when i retired i spent the first week inside laughing when we got storms or hail or blistering heat
i spent last week sitting on front of the a/c and smiling
ive been working here for almost 12 years, and in that time i have sat in (counts to self) 4 different cubicles. not even all the managers get offices, so its a pretty big deal.
i am sure it is:) you can hang pictures now and invite hubby over for....lunch
crossy, we love our
oyota's too. But our Avalon [gift from Mom] doesn't get great mileage
that is too bad bichon:((
but repair wise most seem easy on the wallet
hubby works too far from here to have lunch with me, but its nice to at least be able to close a door when i want to focus. now, if only i can get them to turn the AC down!
It's a V6 or 8 and has some great features. Not a car we would have bought
lol@ killer a/c
well with it being free, the gas milage can bite just a bit
I think on highway driving, we get up to 24 mpg
as i recall that falls into the luxury models,so it will as you are powering all kinds of thingamabobbers and do-dads
right, and it's such a smooth ride.
speaking of fuel, must refuel. bbl

haven't been babbling as I got bit by a brown recluse and had to spend a little time with a bag of antibiotics, no computer :{ I'm back though, pretty luck, it happened to my better half in the 90's and he spent a week with a bag of antibiotics , went into shock and had necrosis set in, but her survived. I recognized my bite immediately, had to convince drs, there are recluse in new england and that my hubby got bit. They must come up in the landscaping plants from the south.
I can't get the or8 even with the head lice one and its making me crazy. Any other clue?
omg! glad you are ok scrambler.i take it a brown recluse is a snake?
spider
or8, when you get *** picky and plural of him as lilliann said
yes
go to the left of the board for the ending of the or kenny
brown recluse spider, nasty things
oh right, i've never heard of them, will have to google it later.so can they kill you if you're not treated
I've read about them and you're lucky that you didn't develop the accompanying necrosis
I am fascinated by insect, especially spiders, moths and beetles but am happy that there are (supposedly) no poisonous spiders in France
((ruby)) lovely to see you. how is all at home with hubby and ruby and rufino?
The necrosis started but I got in there immediately, I developed a straight red line from near the fang marks!
still can't get it. Is the third letter an n?
hi ruby, yes those spiders are not indigenous to new england, but the er dr said he has had 20 cases since last year!
yes kenny
or,nearly opp of day and pl of him
kenny, use the latin genitive word for the study of birds, the 1st six letters of the study of birds and the plural of of him
the only time i've ever known that we had a poisonous spider in the uk was when someone bought some bananas from a supermarket and they were in the bag amongst them. i can't remember what it was though.now, i buy my bananas loose...lol
:3 good idea lilliann!
FINALLY! Thanks, I was going the wrong way.

((molly)) hi. lol, it saves me cooking as such...alot of prep tho.the bairn is going to help me. i think she deserves it after the time she's been having at school recently
back again. What IS a raclette?
it is french and like a griddle pan over a grill and electric. you have little pans and in france you get raclette cheese which fits the small triangular pans and it is a soft cheese slice. so you cook whatever you want on the griddle and then put it in your pan with cheese on top under the grill to melt.here we can't get the cheese so i buy cheese slices
must go...by the way hi nef (poof)
just lost my connection and finally had to unplug to get back in!
I think my computer is dying
Woo hoo! Time for a new computer for Ruby!
what is your recommendation, miss molly
my monitor is pretty new and I love my keyboard
I am partial to Dell computers Miss Ruby.
DIL works for Dell in Austin
Great, maybe she can get you a discount.
can I just buy the "tower part"?
fat chance
Yes you can.
then I just need my techie guy to transfer my files?
The techno geeks will tell you they don't like Dells, but for ordinary use, such as you and I need a computer for, they are good and a good value.
DIL and son keep saying buy Apple, but I don't want to spend that much money or learn anything more complicated than this
Yes, or you can put all of what is on your computer on a remote drive, whatever you prefer. As for Apple, I hate MACS but that is me.
games and letters and sharing photos, that's all
hmm, son's wife is DIL, what is husband's daughter? step-DIL?
or step-d?
Your husband's daughter is your step-daughter.
I rescued a green finch who had flown into the house and a gorgeous scarab beetle who was in Rufie's clutches
first time I ever held a beetle directly, usually put them into something
Ooo, scarab beetles are pretty.
iridescent yellow-green and turquoise
My Mom loved scarab jewelry.

hi all, I am thinking of getting a tattoo
maybe a periwinkle flower on my shoulder or back
and Molls, I have a cocktail question. HOw much gin would you put in a gin and tonic?
that would be sweet peri. Maybe I should get a Bichon for my shoulder
and how many ounces in a tonic glass?
I also am thinking of getting DNR across my chest :)
hi peri, I have a rose on my shoulder, I rebelled at the age of 46 and just went and got it done without telling anyone!
answers peri.. not enough ounces?
Neat peri! I've been thinking about a white ink tattoo
I would tell my niece. she has several tattoos
haha stiddy
white ink tatoo?
2 ounces Peri, to an 8 oz glass.
google them. done right they are very cool looking
ty molls for or8
thanks molls, still need to get the gin. bought new sunglasses today!! will have to get a picture taken
they look like a bit like a decorative scar
Peri looks cool and is preparing to party!
I think we might have to have a mini get together Molls. somewhere in between. there are others not too far away.
I may be older but I sure am not dead :)
and one can be sexy at any age :-)
Amen, sistah!
*Wonders if decorative scar is an oxymoron*
probably
my, oh my. Listen to my friend Peri.
:)

she's getting to be out of control! lol
Peri is, as we say in my woman tribe, coming into her womanhood. : )
babble accepts mo6/24 but not the person who does it!

I am a late bloomer. but that is ok
Molls, do you really have a woman tribe?

Amelu, Hego and I are singing in harmony.
very okay, Peri
That is what my circle of women friends and I refer to ourselves as.
ok
what Molly?
A woman tribe.
I am building a woman tribe too. I have met some really nice woman while volunteering at the food pantry
love it.
we have a core group of about 6 couples and we call ourselves the Round Table...
thanks molly. beginning to panic.... i am trying to finish the grid with the exception or 5 or 6 words,,, but i have to know the words................. sam in on ther way ( almost 4 year old great grandson) he likes to play the game and we spell words and he enters them in the grid ... loves it when he gets fireworks!!.. he can read
read quite a few words and i feel that any encouragement is a good thing.
sure is
very cool sammysmom!
Aw SMom, that is so sweet. He has a wonderful great gram.
Always tell my kids that if they can read they can do anything.
Do you then sing them the Reading Rainbow song, Mag?
We never got into Reading Rainbow, but they are 12 and 14 now, so if I sing anything to them they cringe
my nana encouraged my reading when i was very young.... said she sould not see well enough to read so i had to do it for her... i was reading the scarlet letter at the age of 8.........the bobsey twins and the five little peppers at the age of 7- how wise she was !!
♪ I can do anything ♫ Take a look, it's in a book ♪ a Reading Rainbow ♫
We all benefit from the wisdom of elder women.
Mostly just encourage them to keep reading and learn new words. During testing both kids were found to have the vocabulary of a 30+ adult
thats wonderful mag- way to go !!
a child with a true love of reading is a wonderful thing
Cool! Young members of The Smarty Pants Club.
I will scrimp and save on everything I buy, but we always have books. They may be used books, but I make sure they always have plenty of reading material.
i played word games with my kids and they always wanted to have a go ............. we played several times a week..... number 2 daughter was 30 when she finally beat me at a game ( NEVER LET them win, so when she dis she earned it)
i had to throw her a scrabble party!!
our son plays scrabble with us still:)
ooh I want a scrabble party!
sadly mrs can no longer see the tiles clearly
I'm talking my husband into making me a lampshade out of scrabble tiles
My nephew got a Scrabble party for his birthday. A cooler of his favorite beer, seven layer dip and as much Scrabble as he could indulge in.
sounds like my kind of party Molly- if you sub wine for the beer
Mag, you know there is Scrabble tile jewelry, don't you?
my kids are in thier 40's amd 50's and we still play at least once a month... the grands come whe4n the4y can and hold gthier babies on thier laps to get them used to the tiles and letters-lol.... it helops that i have 5 boards.. several originals a 25 year anniversary and a 50th anniversary and a folding one-lol... can't have too many heh heh
Yes! My friend sent me a letter "B" necklace
m-i-l has the wooden limited ed board, with the raised edges to hold tiles in place, the drawer storgage and the built in lazy suzan..nice board
SMom's clan are serious Scrabblers.
yup... and i would love to have a board like the one cross talked about
thing they are about 60 dollars but not sure
we also play cribbage and i have cribbage boards fron the average to one that is 4 feet long-lol hangs on the wall
it is like this one...
http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/56878?p i=945784&subrnd=0&qs=3021017_pmd_nexta g

have a great weekend, all!
You too Amelu
SMom, try eBaby for the limited edition Scrabble board.

Ebaby???
Great prices on new and used infants.
that's what I want an ebaby!
a virtual child

Hego, I think you get one if you play that strange Sims game.
could be fun
while I play Babble I'll leave her in the PB.
*Wonders about Babble Daycare*
great idea!
I think if you leave her in the PB, virtual CPS will come after you. Too much booze and food in there and it's not baby-proof.
hmmm.....true
hi babblers
hi Welki
Hello welki
hego, loved that "play dead" cartoon :)
that was a good one.
I was hoping Crossy would see it. He's an old dead head.

ooh, scrabble jewelry. I have some old scrabble tiles.
we need to have a scrabble get together hego. I wish I had my own place
I haven't played Scrabble in years.

yes, hego, scrabble and words with friends on FB
Mari would be tough competition
why don't you play on line hego
we are both pretty good at it
I can't fit in anymore games right now.
we used to play with our parents when we were youn

Hi peri
Oh look, it's the cool chick with the gin and tonic and the sunglasses : )
nbt and nbs
:)
sexy sunglasses, I might add
But did she learn to make them properly?
Molls, is there more than one kind of tanqueray or bombay gin. I always get confused when I see more than one label?
going to buy some tomorrow!!
party in the chog tomorrow!!
Molls told me how much gin to use
or I could make a gimlet, never had one of those
I'm thinking they're much more enjoyable with more liquor!
yes, but I do not want to fall asleep after I drink it
I am not as young as I used to be :(
It's so hot here, that my latest love is a Mi Chelada. Beer, with some Clamato, a little lime, dash of tabasco...lovely and refreshing.
I am now getting hungry. may make a sandwich with avocado, tomato and onion on whole wheat.

Yes, different kinds. Pick whatever looks good.
Oh yeah, Champ scampers off before she gets sent to the PB for be4
Oh crap!!!! I'm still here. Sorry...will shuffle off to the PB. Anything good in here.....?
Be4...bring yer own Clamato : P
Got it.............................
That drink sounds like something someone would dare you to drink in a bar, after five rounds.
I'm a "savory" type...it's so yummmmmmmm
Well it doesn't get much more savory than clam juice, so bottoms up woman.
*chink!*
I am concerned that we have corrupted sweet, innocent Peri.
Nah...Peri's good to go.
Gin, a tattoo. What's next? A Harley?
Piercings. Everyone goes from tattoos to piercings these days, or vice versa.
But of course. It's the natural progression of a downfall.
so 5/12 anyone?
slippery slope and all that...
so + I wo****r if you will get this clue.
Ooo...thanks
pe7?
idk...will look...
It's a dirty word. The spot in between your front and your bottom, plural....
take the pe 4 before it and look ***r, not far.
It's not dirty if you use the anatomical term ..
So, my 12 year old just walked up and has had her summer anatomy lesson...
I meant dirty because of the location. =P
Sorry, Champ!
No biggie...I explain things when they ask.
Of course, this is the same kid that, when she passes gas, says, "Yep...that was my butt!" :)
There are 2 pe7s
ty leigh
I don't have the first pe7
I was wondering which one Mixi needed, but that must have been it.
first in 5/10 plz
A gas that does nothing

Ivesy, every time I see your icon I get the Gumby song in my head : D
and maybe rock climbing but only inside
No piercings YET

I am not that innocent, Molls

note to self: buy gin and limes:)
Peri is waiting for Prince Charming On A Harley.
..... u should see what gumby can do todayyyyyyy!!!
been waitin' quite some time now
Oh man, every weekday at 4PM I had a passel of young boys in my living room, singing that song.
hi all, can i ask who gumby and pokey are?
Ivesy's icon. Claymation figures from a kids show.
gumby and pokey are clay characters from a very old cartoon show .. its what me and my friend at work are called lol
Y'all across the pond have missed out on so much. : (
im pokey :(
think i am just too exhausted to finish this today. mb try later nite all. have a good one
You too, Ivesy
going to sit outside and read for a while, bbs
bye peri
bye, peri.. and hi all.. am babbling late today -
Hi Aloy
hi Molly (-:
all day at a garage sale.. I underpriced a whole bunch of baseball things that have been sitting in the garage.. was worth it to see the huge smiles on the faces of the kids who bought them
good for you aloy
Aw, good work, Aloy.
yup, I really enjoyed it - came home with a total of $16.75, lol
er 5, please?
the soil washes away, nan
ty aloy - couldn't see that
kinda twisty
et 6, please?
ends with not yeses
eth + clear as the ***e on your face
oops, shouldn't have included the h, sorry
ty - had tried that without the last letter
might have violated a clue rule
lol - we'll have to send you to the pb, then -- food's good, though
ooh, good.. am a bit hungry
mo 6/24 following the calendar term?
Past tense of night time orb in the sky
have that one, ty molly - need the one before it
That would be the one before the calendar time, mo + a da**** is a gooey pastry
oh, do you need the pl of 1/12 of a year?
ty - missed that twisty little plural
me too
Okay, I was totally confused by all that. I thought Nan had the 6/24 that was the calendar time and wanted the one after it.
sorry, molly
is the or 8 related to the 5/10 before it?
yes, it is the pl of avifauna
avi what?
had to look it up to be sure.. not a common word
lol, birdies
got it - ty
yvw, wtg
hello all, back again. Has anyone seen the TV show: Strange Sex? I saw it by chance last night and there was man from NY whose claim to fame is that he has the world's largest penis. 13 1/2 long and 8 inch circumference. I kid you not. OMG!
holy cow, p4!!!!!!
.. brb, going for another chenin blanc
Sounds like something Sprite needs to know.
why is that,Molls?
..ah, back.. I agree, Molly.. related to her favorite word
She always says her favorite word is penis.
"Saw it by chance"...RIIIIGHT : P
really? one of my favorite words is ergo
All things considered, probably a better favorite word, Peri.
haha Molls it is apparently on every week
don't get cable, is it a cable channel?
"Marigold, I swear, I wasn't watching that porno movie. It just fell right in the DVD player."
there was also a womenwho had two vaginas, two cervixes and two uteri. and she gave birth to two healthy daughters by c section
we have FIOS here. not sure what channel it is on
hey there It was not a porno movie.
strange but interesting show
Joking Peri, have some more gin. : P
no gin here yet. buying it tomorrow.
I need to give this root beer vodka away or else I will pour it down the toilet
I could probably go downtown and give it to a homeless person if I was so inclined.
It sounds like something high school kids would drink.
it is really nasty
Or desperate alcoholics.
never had it, but .. doesn't sound too appetizing
the plural of what Pooh likes is not accepted
I think that is eys at the end.
ok
those plurals can be tricky
English is a weird language.. the pl of the currency works
need to go to the list or I will be here til the flip
thanks, see that is stupid. one pl is accepted and the other is not. I am glad that English is my main language
keeps you on your toes
btw, p4.. I went out in the yard, cut bunches of chives, and made an awesome potato soup the other night.. also put lots of fresh parsley in it from my kitchen window plant.. on the other hand, I learned that you do NOT cut any chives that have thick stalks.. lol, too fibrous for the soup
hi all, just read back, and i'm shocked by you ladies!! :)
aww, liliann.. girls just like to have fun!
makes my heart th5.16
Hahaha...Lilliann is shocked...RIIIGHT.
can't you see her blush, Molly?
not alot shocks me molly but i thought you were all demure woman...never expected penis talk!! lol
well, fw going off and my tummy is rumbling, so I'm poofing in search of some delectable dinner.. fun chatting, see you next time!
Hey if you want penis talk, check in here in the morning. Especially if it's in the grid. The penis talk goes on and on an on.

I will post a photo when finished
ty nan
I would love to see it!
yw lilli
oooh. that en 6 clue also gave me an ae 6!
wd, stid
I guess I should go and browse the freezer to see what I can produce for supper -- hate cooking more every day!
I'd much prefer just to make cakes, cookies and pies, but then I'd have to buy a crane to hoist myself off the chair!
We are having sausages for supper, and maybe something with potatoes. Or tortillas.
I agree, nan -- if we could make sugar healthy, you know I'd be cooking a LOT more! LOL
I have some scalloped potatoes left over from last night - need to find something to go with them
hi all
something green perhaps? do you have lettuce in the garden?
hi carlee
hey carlee!
*triple back flip with a a 1 1/2 twist* and tosses out choclits upon sticking the landing
how are you stiddy
lol - It's been so cold and rainy, I haven't even planted the garden! I rarely grow lettuce -- we have cold springs, then it turns hot and dry overnight and lettuce just goes to seed
hi cyber ;o)
ooh - ty carlee :)
oh, yes, I know how that is -- Tom and Grant built me a cold frame (finally) so we actually have lettuce this year! ACtually more than we can eat... LOL
I saw a recipe for lettuce soup the other day, should probably go look that up.
I am tired carlee -- but good. you?
let me know what it tastes like if you make it stiddy
that or lots of blt's for lunch!
lettuce rolls too ( like spring rools but with lettuce leaves)
yes! they are good -- diet food, too
i am...trying to not go after a bratty teenager who is pissing me off beyond belief ( bullying my daughter)
OH! THAT IS BRILLIANT, CARLEE!!!! *bounce bounce bounce* I CAN DO THAT!!!!!
stiddy became tigger with lettuce rolls....who'd a thunk it
lol -- off to make supper *poof*
oh, I LOVE lettuce rolls, but for some reason my brain is stuck on mexican food this week. *grin*

u bounced tho....u became tigger
The most wonderful thing about stiddy is she's the only one! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's the only one!
hehehe exactly tor
LOL tor!
hi carlee :)
hi lill
what do you put in lettuce rolls?
tuna salad if super easy....seafood ( crab and avacado )..cheese and veg..whatever
shrimp, tofu, bean sprouts, various types of mint/basil...
treat like a tortilla and roll up ur sandwich...in lieu of bread
so basically any filling you like?
dip in a peanut and hoisin sauce
yeap...pretty much
when I say bean sprout, that's mung bean (the thick white ones) not alfalfa or peas or green beans!
i love hoisin sauce but am not a fishy eater...will eat prawns, mussels and non fishy fish as in cod, etc
alfalfas are good too tho
oh i cant eat cod....cant put it past my lips
i cant get the reality out of my mind....
it's the same here stid, we call them bean sprouts
full of tiny white worms....clean a cod and the flesh moves from teh worms...ugh
that's put me off cod!! lol
all cod is wormy
yeuck
a cow is a mooer yes?
dont know a cow that doesnt....
i won't be eating cod now!! i went off tinned salmon because it had maggots in it!!
i havent seen maggots in the tinned salmon
my son has just taking up fi4ing third night this week we have pickeral ( walleye)
oh man..am tired..got the yawns...and i should have dinner..but am so tired
i can only eat tinned salmon with loads of vinegar, i've tried fresh and smoked and don't like either, and i've eaten loads of tins of salmon over the years but the last time i had it, always give some to my cats and i saw maggots crawling around!! that put me off my sandwich straight away!!
peanut butter and jelly sandwich, carlee?
pickeral? don't know that fish...will have to look it up
I have never seen maggots in canned food -- that's weird.
ewwwwwwwwwww...would me too....i found a recipe for marinating fresh salmon..has soy sauce and brown sugar... is sooo good....and left overs make amazing salmon salad
pickeal ( is walleye in the states) fresh water fish...
pickeral*
i had pb and B for breakie..not sure i want PB again
i have never either until that time stid and i got it straight from the tin, as i always give them it first and then add the vinegar
chese on toast or scrambled egg carlee...it's quick
i give my kitties the juice
yea...no....ever since this flu bug ( respiratory one) I just....cant... food not interesting
have you got a juicer carlee?
no..i dont...i might have a mango
I should really go make supper, now that you ladies have made food so appealing *rolls eyes* will be back later. ((hugs)) hope you feel better carlee, and don't stay up TOO late, lilliann!! *stern mama look*
thanks hun... enjoy dinner!!!!
i've been later here because the bairn has had trouble at school stid, but we are sorting it out...won't be much longer :) enjoy your food!! :)
sorry for trouble at school..am having issues with my daughter atm
at school
yes carlee, she's being bullied...her hair colour doesn't help!! she always been bullied since she started basically
sorry about your daughter, is it to do with school?
go back lilli...just read...
yea...my daughter's former best friend ( since kindergarten..and they almost 16 now)...decided she didnt like the new Bf..this is the first kinda serious Bf for my daughter
and the "friend" is an only child who does not know how to share
anyway...friend decided no longer friends ( to force my daughter to "choose")..and my daughter basically said..if u forcing me to choose..ur not a friend..the Bf btw is a good guy....now the "friend' is trying to fight my daughter..bullying... spreading rumours and now everyone in the school is calling my daughter a slut...
we going to the VP on Mon
i won't say too much on here but she was hurt today and texted me so i to say she was crowded and couldn't get away...so i rang the school...their response is why hasn't she seen any teachers about it and i tild them that she was told she'd get braed if she did and she didn't want tme to go and see the school yet as she wanted to sort it out herself as it would make it worse for her...well after today i couldn't keep quiet so now the school are sorting it out, so hopefully it will get sorted out once and for all!!
that's the problem carlee, they get jealous...
good... i dont get the bullying..i just dont get it
yeap....she is...fortunately my daughter is talking about it
and the BF is super supportive ( he older...2 years... starts college this fall and talking "is going to be weird when i college and i say my Gf in just in grade 11" but he is thinking those terms...he is pretty crazy about her..is cute)
the person who has started the bullying at my daughters school was with her at her primary but he was getting her bullied at the bus stop on the first day, so he wouldn't get bullied!
and she is mature for her age...( lill u on fb???? i never know who is on and isnt...and on my list when comes to babble)
yes hin and you are my friend on it
ok..i posted a pic of my daughter and BF last week... his grad :)
i'm glad he is supportive of her carlee
is anyone else going to watch one of the Wallendas attempt to cross over Niagra Falls on a tightrope in the dark tonight. He must be crazy!
my bairn has a boyfriend...first one ever and he looks after her...bless him
no.i refuse cus if he falls i will have that etched on my brain for forever
wallendas peri?
a well know family of tight rope walkers, lil
I will try to watch it

hi jes
hey all -- jes, I learned that our aquatic turtle NEEDS live food. He really yums up his worms nowadays. :-)
red eared slider? try to keep him eating some veggies-they'll eat all meat if you let them, but it's not the best diet.
no -- softshell little brown guy
wb stid...and yes...i'm still here :0 don't tell me off too much!!
we had been feeding pellets in the morning and dried shrimp at night, but all of a sudden he stopped eating and dug down in his sand most of the time.
is that a terrapin or turtle?
He has live plants in the tank (probably needs renewing) that he nibbles on sometimes, too.
softshell? what species?
we call them turtles, lilliann
i don't think i've ever seen one in person....
hold on, I can remember this
well terrapins are small and you can keep them in aquauraiums
apalone spinifera
I have pictures of our little guy. hold on, will load them.
turtles ae alot bigger and you normally see them in aquariums as in where people see other big fish
not common as pets at all, stid
* i meant to say that terrapins are in big ....sory memory gone...i can see the picture but can't remember the word....
I know, he was a science teacher's critter, and I know it's not smart to release back to the wild, so we are loving him now. For about five years.
so that would be a terrapin?
don't generally use terrapin in the US, lillian, except to refer to specific species (diamondback terrapin). usually turtle = aquatic, tortoise = lives on land
doesn't matter how big or small they are
in the uk, we have terrapins in a tank...they are tiny little turtles...won't grow any bigger
turtles to us live in the sea and tortoises are big shelled and live on land
okay, I think I got it for my icon. An unusual angle, he was looking at me through the tank. Usually the pics online show the speckled back
changed in the chat, but still has your previous pick when i open your profile :(
The neck can extend about 8 inches, about as long as his shell. This type can actually breathe through their skin for many days if they need to.
You can copy the profile url and paste it into your browser and refresh it that way.
i can't see it stid:(
one of the species that doesn't ever leave the water, right?
meaning -- they can exchange oxygen directly from the water through their skin.
i've refreshed here and can't see it6
here's the url http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=19085
oh, he likes to sun himself once or twice a day, but yes he is very happy to be completely submerged for hours at a time
i think they are cute stid, my friend when i was about 15 had two and i use to love watching them
or you can look here, I just put it on the website, will add more later
http://www.stidmama.com/?p=2493
I should say, usually the water is more clear, the day before we change it often gets pretty algae filled really fast.
hahaha! you're RSS'd :D
commence the webstalking...
rofl jes!
be prepared for my annual fathers and heroes rant this weekend, jes!
oooh, rantage! :D
ohohoh! kid is moving in today. for good and ever (or at least until the end of high school)
:-) Not nearly as creative as some of yours, of course, because I hope to get work as a teacher someday... LOL
kid? which kid? are you becoming an "adult" suddenly????
bruce's kid
*faints*
Anyone else watching Nik Wallenda right now?
i'm the wicked step-mom
(and by wicked, i mean wicked-cool)
bruce has a kid??? all my illusions are shattered. It's like learning that Hugh Jackman actually has bad breath in the morning or something.
hahahhhaaa.
yeah, he was married before me too
he's not the sweet and innocent young gent you pictured...
well, I think you will do a great job. One of the best parenting books ever imho is "the dog-trainer's guide to parenting" really -- and you are already good with animals. The key is consistent, small increments of change (when possible) and logical consequences to include noticing when the critter does things right.
um, when the KID does things right.
no krysten
heheh. one of my favorite lines from my college psych text was "parents and other trainers of small animals"
who's krysten? *confused mama look* and lilliann -- are you okay? I am not grumpy to still see you, just um, a little worried you may not be pain-free.
sounds like a great text, jes
It's pretty cool. A bit historic since no one has done this before.
hey im in the grid! ho4
mostly, kid's been really good for us but acting out for his mom and step-dad. and i have serious issues with some of their "training" techniques...
oh! hi krysten! missed your entrance
hey cos!
hi all :)
hi cos
hi krysten, cos
just got here stid. hi back!
can i have a clue for the ho5/14 after the plural gay men?
kids who change households sometimes start out being on best behavior and then test a LOT to see if they are really wanted. *battens down hatches between this location and that*
a type of lawnmower or car or motorcycle, cos
at least that is the one I have
ho5/14, car or motorcycle
ah thanks
actually, our propane generator is also that name.
yeah, there's a reasonable chance he'll act out more for us when he's been with us longer, but we'll see.
Woohoo...welcome to Canada, Nik!
not going to hold against him the stuff he was doing th5, because I think a lot of it was passive-aggressively trying to get kicked out. He REALLY doesn't get on with step-dad, but didn't want to hurt mom's feelers by asking to move up to dad's
someone told me once that my kids acting out was a good thing because it meant that they trusted me... not sure I wanted quite that level of trust LOL
and we have significantly different views on what constitutes "bad" than his mom and step-dad do... we, for instance, think it's normal for a 15 year old boy to google "cheerleaders" and look at pictures of girls in bikinis. This is apparently grounds for being kicked off the internet for over a year at his mom's place.
wow. not going to step in that one myself...
my bairn is into the "swearing" at me at the moment but that what is what all the bairns do at her school....i'm still not imptressed
my bairn is into the "swearing" at me at the moment but that what is what all the bairns do at her school....i'm still not imptressed
what if he looked up dirty words int he dictionary? would the dictionary be trashed? :)
ok sorry that was a bad joke
our boys pretty much have free reign online BUT if we discover they are sexting or otherwise being troll-like we reserve the right to kick their butts into three parallel universes laterally...
he'll have to work a lot harder to be in trouble with us, i think... and he's possibly too laid back (lazy?) to bother. hah!
i dunno, cos. tough to say. it's possible; his cell phone (a gift to him from his grandmother, who is paying the fees) was taken away because he had a picture of a girl on it.
mom/step-dad didn't bother to tell grandma the phone was banished so she could stop paying the monthlies though....
wow. hope he'll be happy with you guys!
Yay! Great job, Nik. Breathtaking!
I think you'll do a fine job, and I know he'll be safe with you. Does he like critters?
mo7 please
heheh. indeed, stid. We told him we don't care what he looks at, as long as it's LEGAL - no kid porn on our computers, and pointed out that pictures of himself and/or his classmates count as kiddie porn because he's underage, so NO PICS OF YOUR JUNK, BOY.
btw Krysten, that event is not being shown where we live yet.
lol good for you jes :)
he seems to like them; he's not an avid wants-his-own-dog kind (so far, anyway) but he plays with the critters we have, and may want one/a few of his own now that he's going to be around more.
That's too bad. So cool. He made it across like it was nothing.
It will be settling for him, perhaps, to have critters to think about and care for.
nvm found the mo7
thanks for blowing the suspense, krysten!
want to share, cos?
Eek! Sorry!
mo7 builds off the mo4... it has a kinda ending
thanks, cos
thanks cos -- it's okay krysten, but because there are time delays folks here usually refrain from discussing what happens on television... I'll just not watch that one now.
ah, got it!
yw :)
and since I am not going to watch it, I might as well go to sleep. It feels like a much longer day than it actually was.
lilliann, hope you get to sleep soon. Have a wonderful weekend all! *poof*
Yeah, I got it...so sorry. Just didn't think about this one in the same way since it's a "live" event. Sorry again.
facebook keeps talking about "he made it across" what am i missing here
ah the the guy at nigara falls?

Wow, huge grid list today. Just popped in for the flip. Been working on an escrow/sale that's now going to close (hopefully) on Monday...should have closed yesterday. Plus, taking Continuing Ed online courses to renew my RE license. Got me a massive headache this eve. Maybe the wine will help. lol
Yay! My avitar finally updated!
ni 6/21 is ni5/12 plural
