what is your icon, ru?
it's tiny even when I click on it
the gay pride parade.. local color to welcome kje
ah yes, SF has quite a large gay pride parade I understand, daughter was down there last year, on business
large? .. gigantic
more queens than in the history of England
:D
I didn't see Toronto's but saw some of the marchers walking to it - interest
one burly big guy was dressed in nothing but huge chains
I think it's great.. a freedom day for gay people
and why not
like women's rights and black people's rights.. it's all the same.. it's the last frontier
of course
wonder if he had a lock on those chains
lol, I didn't look that closely
was on the other side of the street
I"d be afraid to guess what he'd try to pick the locks with..lol
lol
gives a whole new meaning to the chain gang
you're right there
we had a lively discussion earlier about religion
oh my, must look back, what time?
sometime around 5 or 6 our time
maybe a bit later than that
I'll check later, must have been interesting
it was pretty cool
everyone was so cool about it.. some very religious people who have common sense about religion
as long as it stays 'cool' can get quite heated at times
I enjoyed it .. we didn't get into an argument. I'm an atheist
i'm really stuck now
as long as people respect others choices, it's fine but you'd laugh - sister and I had a chat about gays - we have quite a few friends who are, but chat ended, and then "but it's wrong" she had to have the last word
when I said WE, I meant hubby and I
ah.
I grew up with 7 gay cousins...I totally get it
one of the friendliest weddings we've attended was 2 gays, their invitation was very interestingly worded - "come to a quear wedding" and so on
7 out of 54
I went to a gay wedding two years ago.. it was really beautiful and very moving.
they live around the block from us.. they're great people
I have 3 gay relatives, great guys
you are so cool flosey. I can't even wrap my head around it
but when you grow up with people, and love them, it's not difficult to understand
morning all - can anyone give me a clue for the r in the middle row please. Need it for NBT

morning Babble friends
morning sprite - but past my bedtime
sleep well then, flosey :)
thanks sprite, 33 left for tomorrow - if there's time, busy day
I hope it will be a good one, flosey. Happy dreams.
yes, good busy sprite, getting ready for family arriving for the weekend, and tieing up some loose ends here
oh nice :)
hoping one week will mean seeing less tent caterpillars
what are tent caterpillars?
something you will never wish to see, they start out in a tent of webbing on the ends of limbs of, in our case mostly apple trees
oh... I think I know then. They can take over whole areas of trees :(
which meant clipping the limb off and burning - hubby has spent at least 2 hours a day doing this for the last few weeks
84, with 3 8s and 7 7s. I should have been in bed. Now I shall. nite,all! {poof}
yes, if not dealt with quickly, they spread
argh what a job.
bye melon
goodnight melon
nasty but necessary, we will have apples this year
at least there is that
they come in cycles - I don't remember the last time they were here, maybe 10 years ago
not sure if they are the same we have here. Some years they are all over the trees near the canal here. But luckily not in our gardens.
they don't bother some trees - our big maple hasn't been touched
but the weedy type trees like alder, they go for
picky pests!
yes, just nasty
anyway, must get to bed so that I can get off to an early start tomorrow
sleep well!
good luck with the grid sprite,
thanks, looks like a fun one
good morning
hey ruby!
is anybody here?
well just little old me
I made it rain today by watering last night! The all-powerful Ruby! lol
{{little old you}}
yayyy the magic of the watering can and the umbrella.
how are you and your husband?
yaw
hi Nanette
he's OK and I'm just tired from dealing with Rufie and him
hello hello no no
*hugs ruby* It is a tough job. How is Rufie healing up?
sprite: all the things you showed me how to do, I can't do... feel like a stupe! but will re-attack later in the day
Rufe is doing much better but looking longingly at Ruby's food
just take it one step at a time, dear impatient ruby :D
hi Sprite, Ruby, your visit all over? did the two of you have a good time
Burt bought him boned chicken breasts this AM, so he'll have sa healthy treat later
yeah poor Rufie. But he will love not having that bad itching spot anymore. It is worth it.
we had a marvellous time, Nanette! Yes it is over, I came home on Saturday. Ruby and her husband spoiled me rotten.
yes, no no, it was wonderful! We must have known each other in a previous life (how very Buddhist of me!) because it was definitely old friends
I agree
thats great!
and sprite really brought DH out of his shell into which he withdraws because of impatient me
he is a wonderful man. And you are a wonderful woman, ruby.
<-- blushing
we almost have do****el, sprite's new scrabble word!
oh we all love the cake, ruby!
lol yes I noticed! Lovely to learn new words, isn't it.
good
good morning, could I get a clue for re6/27, please
gm, marc
don't have it yet, but will look
morning Marc
burn again, Marc, and hi
slap me with a herring
thanks Sprite got it.
half and nbs but not nbt :(
good for you Ruby! I have more than half but need an L and an 8 for nbt/nbs
fe8/60
will work on that thanks
fe8 = chained
morning ruby glad to hear that the visit from sprite was a happy time. the word you mentioned, do****** puts me in mind of a word that is in the grid, very similar, and which is the little burned-out lump of baccy in a pipe which requires that screeching scrooper to clean out the bowl ready for the next baccy
le8 is like it
ty Sprite
lol scouser, that is nice :)
there, NBS and NBT
the fe6 is my Russian ancestor's name!
wtg Nanette!
interesting
hello scouser! what part of Russia?
re7/32, please?
act again again, Marc
Moscow area
nbt!
how far back can you trace them scouser
wtg ruby!
only took 80 words, lol
lol... Babble does not know 'internet' but it does know so8 (compound)
wtg ruby!
ooh, nifty clue! ty
:)
Late 18th century in Sweden; others in Germany even further. Very convoluted family- "weed" not "tr4" !
or bush/shrub -- many branches
we have a family-weed 'cos of many cousins marrying in late 19th century
like first husband who was Irish, Swedish, English and could trace way back
I can go back to the 2nd half of 19th C, all in the Ukraine
all those family t4 programmes you can get for computer get very upset when you put persons on same "row" in marriage
lol yes I can imagine
our previous housekeeper married someone with the same last name but a different hyphen; the priest raised an eyebrow!
but the name is very common in this valley
whenever I get an official form which says "give nationality" I always put "middle-European" because they don't have that as a choice!
:D
easier for me; they're all from only two places
and I think sprite is Dutch lol
I like the way the Swiss deal with the hyphen - one way round before the divorce, other way afterwards! So my cousin was Mme C. P-B and then afterwards Mme C. P-B !
notice they've used a mispelling of Dutch pottery
sorry - typed the last bit wrong Mme C. B-P
I didn't know that, scouser
I use a hyphen but with my first husband's name rather than my maiden name because I got married so young
uh oh, DHis calling!
fi4flies :) Yes I am Dutch. More than 1/4 Friesian, very apt int his grid today. Some French blood, some German.
the pottery is not wrong the word means a small quarry usually narrow and open to the sky
hug him from me, ruby
everything is kelley: son, degrees, assets.....
will do, sprite
I thought it had a t at the end.....
I am off, bye all, have fun :D
*poof*
slot
bye sprite
sorry - PB for me
Morning all....clue for the single L on the left please?
can any lurkers help me please?
nm....got it!!!
to4/7 please
good grief, just now found fr6/42
medusa, don't have it yet
ok
... rhymes with not hard
thanks!
tx dos!
how about so8?
id you're crazy about someone, you're be-so8
It's past tense
Hi all, I've been lurking. I think you'll find so8 is a two- part word to do with computers
... to be crazy is an so6
... I think
now im confused! lol
i was thinking that too
... my so8 and guernsey's so8 ... is "a computer programme" ... you run it
sorry - I clued the so6/21, which means 'drunk'.
lol
... to be crazy in love with someone is an s06
... though you usually hear it with "be" in front of it but there is not "be" here
Now we,re clear on that, has anyone got the lone l on the left please?
... ends with a double vowel
Ty dose, got it.
just got it
thanks
Sorry for the misinformation - it's 3.45am, and I really should close down, and go t bed, but ... maybe just one more word?
1 more word is never 1 more though. it always turns into more than 1 more for me
If I'd ever been to the Maldives, I might have known it!
That's why I got up, after being in bed for an hour - just one more word.
Off to do something useful. Be back later. Bye
... my I suggest ya4/10 ... a type of boat ... for sailing away to the Maldives ... or sleep ...
te5/12 please
I think it's the third hour of prayers (in a monastery). Anyway, it's from the word for three.
thanks
I'd better get to bed -- have fun. poof
ttfn christine and thanks for the help
Oooh, found one more - now I really must poof away.yw
Oh rats, I may as well make a cuppa - I'm not leaving any time soon
fr8 please
... as my mother used to say ... GO TO BED .... NOW
... the words will still be there in the morning ... or afternoon
I need to get up in about 4 hours, so it may not be worth while to go to bed. I'm retired, so I could just nap when I get back from the Doctor,
... although my kid never pays any attention to me when I say it so why should you ...
Good day to all.
Do you know the value of the fr8? we could work it out from that.
hi scrab
fr8/80 christine
... morning scrabbler ... how are the forests of the great north west this morning? ...
Drying out from a wicked thunderstorm overnight. I woke up to *BOOM*BOOM!
so we want 8 letters, totalling 16 - easyypeasy as my neighbour's kid says.
... yeah ... lost another branch on the tree too
A big, old tree?
... a big old tree ... but only a small branch ... that likely broke off in the last storm and took two weeks to fall all the way through to the ground
I have branches like that. I see them hanging up there and hope I am not underneath when a branch lets loose.
... likely about 100 years old ... but on it's last legs ... ... the town will have to take it down in the next couple of years
have 26 left!
I trimmed many low-hanging branches on Saturday, to allow more sun to hit the front of my house. Next I need one of those long tree trimmers to reach higher branches.
111 for me, medusa
i have been here quite a while now. think i need a break so gonna go and make coffee.
And I must grab breakfast. BRB.
gm
well, I found the fr8, but I don't know what it means - think of what humidity does to curly hair, then make it 'petite'
... and to you kje
well, I found the fr8, but I don't know what it means - think of what humidity does to curly hair, then make it 'petite'.
hi kje
great clue, chris, ty
thanks
hi kje
hi scrab... I hear you guys got a storm?
TY, Chris. Great clue.
hi medusa and dof
Overnight. I was awoken by a furious thunderstorm.
Oh, a hairpiece 'a little curl'.
I love big thunderstorms
... Don't miss that it's part of an fr4/6/8 combo
me too. not had a good 1 here for a long time now
got all fr now
I managed to fall asleep despite the pounding rain (I have a steel roof here, to handle the winters) and the thunder.
got all fr now
ar5/10 please
Gotta get to work. BBL.

ttfn scrab

and plural
I have abba stuck in my head
... mama mia! what can be done!
well, it wasn't that one..... but now it is... thanks a lot dof ; )
... you're just lucky rururocks isn't around ... he'd have hit you with six different abba songs .. and you'd be done for life
i could reel some off for ya
still fun music
Goodnight/goodmorning all - I really am going to bed, now

re7/32 please
Such a beautiful dog Une, they are one of my favourite breeds
don't have it yet, sorry -- not very far along :-)
me too, lynXXX!!
and he was soooo sweet and loving
a real cutie
14 months old and an owner surrender -- baffling, eh?
makes you wonder why some people get animas dont it?
would be on my list of the next breed to get but need too much exercise for old me! was checking them out the other day
yes!!
he is beautiful, une
of course, nowadays, sometimes owner surrenders are because people have to move out of a house into an apt where dogs aren't allowed . . .
some lucky person gets a wonderful new pet though - thanks to kind persons like Une!
yep, lynxxx -- very high energy! LOL
oh, lynxxx, it's such a treat for me to meet and help drive these dogs!
this is true. i am not allowed a dog here coz i am on the 4th floor
and then, some apt/condo bldgs have rules related to specific breeds . . .
he went to a man in TX who's going to train him to be a hunting dog . . . hope it works out . . . for both of them!
cool
can't find that re7 yet, medusa.... will keep looking though
its being very good at hiding
need the bottom 2 re6 too
I have a re6 meaning posterior... re+ most of a dirt path through the forrest
tx kje
and the other I have it recited a story again
and re6 tidy up the laundry :-)

hagd, medusa
morning all!
te6 te & color and vwl
hi mark, hi carlee
hi Carlee
te+decorate again
hi dawg
hi lynxxx..
thanks got it
the countdown is on..and carlee is gettiing a tad nervous with the weather reports
ow re6?
oh?
change the first letter only Marc
leaving friday... heading to TN/NC and looks like i might be hiking through the fallout of hurricane debbie
ah
sure you want to do that Carlee?
nothing like being in the mountains during a storm!
appalachian trail?
plans made...not just me going...
yeap jmc
didn't work, changed the te to re+re4 but it didn't go
well that is far enough in land that it will be a big rain storm but not big big winds
once the storm hits land it should race through pretty quickly
marc, make it a plural
I hope you can hole up in a leanto carlee
ah - sorry Marc - takes only the plural form - re7
the re is only a 7 plural with no singular
usually does yes....am more concerned with electrical storms
thanks got it
a leanto??? maybe take shovels and dig very deep holes!
I used to love watching lightning from my tent
if you can deice, why can't you defr6
hurricanes rarely bring thunderstorms with them. . . mostly the damage is wind
wind and flood
should be exciting....
woo our t-storm is over! just in time to take the kids to camp
because it is defrost
was in isabelle in b-more.... water water everywhere - that post storm surge
but why jmc
haha i was in houston for a number of hurricanes. ..carla the eye went over our house
hugo made it up here...took out a 100+ year old maple...that crushed 2 cars..took out hydro lines and blocked traffic for more than 6 hours
just because kje. . . you want logic with the english language? tsk tsk
at my house that is...made a mess of our yard
really what I want is the d's to end
could I get a clue for wa6, please?
foudn 2 of the 8's le and fe
help with other 8's pls

hello. 84 this AM
I'm all excited; just found out that the Tour de France starts on Sat and I thought it was the following one! yay
good morning all - good morning ruby
hello teach
does it go close to where you live?
not this year, but two years it did, once around Lac d'Annecy and once right past the road next to our garden.
it is my favorite sporting event since I moved to France
yay matches!
hello kje
Good morning all
hello mr. bob
Back again. First 3 patients have been "no-shows." :-(
hello scrabs
more time for babble!
Yep. I reviewed that charts of all scheduled kids, signed off on lab reports, etc.
Good Morning, Everybody. How are you all on this fine day?
{{nef}} fine thanks but should be outside pruning roses
Scrabs; to have the first 3 patients of the day not show up really messes things up, doesn't it?
Hi ruby. Prune roses? How often do you do that? I have a rose bush out front I was going to cut out this summer, and then if bloomed like crazy this year (after 3 yoears of very few blooms)
didn't mean prune, meant deadhead.
they are a mess and dropping petals everyplace. If I do a good job, they'll flower one or two more times
it's nasty work
so8?
compound having to do with computers
of course, ty
thnx ruby
I planted a Peace rose out front about 10 years ago. It had beautiful yellow with blush pink flowers; but about 5 years ago it must have been hit with frost and then I've had deep red (and thorny) roses since. It's had some marvelous flowers, but the past 3 years it didn't do much at all; so I was thinking I'd dig it out and replace it. But over the past 2 months it's been spectacular with tons of flowers again
morning all!
I only added rosebushes the 3rd year of the garden, several kinds,: red, dark red, pink, purple and slamon
they are worth the work and wait
I'm glad that yours made a comeback!
hello sue
morning uusue
Nef, I am at the Indian Reservation Clinic so no-shows are common. Now school is over and it is summer so parents are less likely to be compliant with appts.

Hi Sue
morning sue, kje, wv, and everybody else
but for cut flowers, yellow ones are my favorite
hi nef, scrabs, ruby, wv, kje!
ruby, your roses sound gorgeous!
garden has nothing yellow or orange
and now husband's waterlilies are blooming, white ones and double pinks and they're gorgeous.
FW!
Loosestrife, which was in the garden died out but migrated to the fishpond
yay kje!

good morning everyone

{{flosey}}
Hi All
congrats kj
la5/10 no idea how to clue
hi hego!
{{hego}}
Scrabs, I'd have to be at work about an hour before our first pt. at our prenatal clinic; setting things up, etc. Our Midwives would come in about 20 minutes before the 1st client too. But to have 3 No Shows at the start of the day would set the whole rhythm of the day off. Or, they'd come in the late afternoon saying that they'd forgotten til then (or couldn't get a ride or whatever) and we'd end up there late.
like the roman household gods but with a vowel at the end
YAY, kje!!! WTG!!!
did you see the clue, teach?
saw the clue but still trying to figure it out
4th patient looks to be a no-show too. *SIGH*
(((Scrabs)))
I want to adopt most of the kids that I see here.
ends in a double vowel, wv
had the same problem with our Mexican patients at my clinic.
thanks, sue
On May 5 nobody showed up. lol
got it - thnx ruby and sue
and ruby
And we have no-shows at our main office too. Rural poverty.
morning all and how many words today and thanks
For the whole day, Hego?

I would have thought they'd be grateful for free health care
My clinic is in a very poor part of the Cities also.
right Scrabs, transpotation problems, etc.
Well, the non Mexicans showed up.
Mostly the parents are just not responsible!
it took me a minute to remember May 5th
oh, hego. How awful. We've had days with 23 scheduled and only 8 showed; but I never had no one show all day!
cinco de Mayo
Ah, Cinco de Mayo.
ole!
mixing some Margueritas for the PB
Oh! :-)
I could never figure out why they made appointments for that day.
they weren't looking at a calendar
right6
right
right7
PB?? (scrolling back to see what was said)
I think that many poor, uneducated/unemployed people do not have a calendar (paper or on phone) because everyday is the same--no schedule to life. No work days/weekends. etc.
no no, nef, it was pre-emptive -- thinking about 5 may makes me want one!
okay, ruby! :-)
Scrabs, that's so true. Among my clients, if they do have a calendar, it may be in their phone -which is often shut off due to unpaid bill
Sadly my perspective on kids and parents causes me to society as becoming more feral. Undisciplined parents raise kids without limits, guidance, structure.
Sadly my perspective on kids and parents causes me to society as becoming more feral. Undisciplined parents raise kids without limits, guidance, structure.
<-- didn't know phones have calendars
*too see society
Ruby, yes, and you can set reminders.
3rd try: to see society...
that is too true, scrabs, I can see why you would want to bring the children home
"All" of the fancy phones have all sorts of gizmos. Which cost money; and then they can't pay for them.
My clients were prenatal patients. I felt the same way about some of them. Some of their stories just break your heart! I wanted to bring some home to a safe environment so many times...
I know the feeling Nef
it must be very difficult to send them home
see you later, kids
bye Ruby
We had a social worker that worked with us; but sometimes the young women didn't know that they were battered. They assumed that that is NORMAL.
take good care of the roses ruby
cheez, Nef
bye ruby; good luck with your roses!
I see far too many adolescent girls with NO self-respect so then they permit boy after boy to use their bodies.
halfway, NBT and NBS - time to get something done - BBL
one girl came in with her eyelid and eyebrow slit open lessthan an hour before her appt. We took her to the ER and she had 15 stitches put in (our steri-strips didn't do the job and the CNM didn't think she could stitch her up without scarring her). The girl was "Styling her guys' hair and puleed it;" he pulled out a knife and sliced her for that
I hear you, Scrabs. It's heartbreaking.
were the police notified?
These girls would rather get some attention, even if deadly and brutal, than to not be attached to a guy.
sad
yes, hego. We encouraged her to press charges and this time she did. But who knows what happens later?
fireworks and off to face a very busy day
Bye Flosey
wtg!! Bye Flosey
domestic violence increases with pregnancy and escalates as the pregnancy advances
YAY, flosey!!! WTG!!!
Okay. I'll shut up now. Back to the grid
Finally a patient has arrived. Of course it is a kid that does not need to be here for her minor illness, but I will provide "peace of mind." That is mostly what we do now as most of the kids seen for sick visits do not need to be seen at all.
bye Scrabs
(((Scrabs)))
Hagd, Scrabs (hope everybody else keeps their appts from now on)
So many mothers come to our office with at least one of their kids each week--Munchausen by proxy! It's epidemic.
Oh, My! Are they just looking for Any sort of attention; or just unable to cope with their living situation?
Attention but mostly DRAMA--"Zachary has a cold and he cannot sleep and he is miserable and I am SO tired and something has to be done or I am going to lose it and he touched his ear once so I think he needs amoxicillin."
LOL, Scrabs! *I* was feeling overwhelmed this past week with DH tapering off steroids! I bet I sounded just like that! :-D
sound familiar
Just saw the time; I need to get moving here myself to get to my appts. today. BBL; HAGD Everyone!
bye Neef
and I'm gone too. poof
So who is still here? *waving to lurkers*
hello all - is there a list up ??
Hi Ursh. I don't know if a list is available. Check Babanon.

Nice.
i am seriously thinking of going up to the adirondacks to get me a boat
that lightweight hornbeck. how long does it take between ordering and getting, do you know?
Hornbeck Boats in Olmstedville! Get an ultralight canoe!!!! I love mine--best purchase for myself. Ever.
They have barns filled with boats, especially the 10 and 12 footers which are the most popular. Leslie drove up a month ago to get hers.
i remember you mentioning it, and looked into it over the weekend, am seriously planning to get one... unsure about the different finishes... kevlar, etc. and high profile vs. low profile. I guess i need a 10 footer (would love one shorter, but don't know if it's practical)
good morning all :)
am trying to convince my kayaking/hiking buddy. she wants to go on a road trip to new england, I'm trying to push for olmstedville so i can pick up a boat. but definitely need roof racks, etc.. have nothing on top of my audi
hi nan
We got the 10 foot Kevlar canoes. They track well, weigh 14 or 16 lbs (I forget, but either way you can lift it with one finger).
i will use it 98 percent right here on the lake which is half a mile down the hill. and i guess bring it up to the vineyard when i go there
Call the place--they installed proper rack on my Subaru. I bought boat and paddles.
i intend to. might go up there next week (having mohs surgery tomorrow)
It is very liberating to have an ultralight boat. Travel to and from garage/car/water is easy!
Oh, oh.
i am excited about the boat... it is my post surgical reward
I will have a 5-day vacation in ADK in a few wks and then 6 days in Aug. Heaven.
Did you already have biopsy?
do you camp or stay at bed and breakfasts? (yes, it is basal cell. right on the bridge of my nose)
you're going to Heaven Scrabs?
I thought that was just reserved to Christians
scrabs is adkheaven, ru. tells us something
Garnet Hill Lodge in North River--this will be our 10th year. It is on 13th Lake which is my personal heaven. Then Keene Valley Lodge --just south of Lake Placid.
i will look into it. olmstedville is a long drive to go up and back in one day
Hi Ruru. Don't we all have our special happy place? A place where we just say "Aaaaah!" ?
yeah.. but I don't call it heaven
mine is Vancouver Island
For me it is the woods, certain knolls in parks, and 13th Lake.
"Happy Place"
re 7/32, please?
garnet hill looks great... think i'll book a room for one day next week and get the boat
That must be the one 8 that I am missing.

Doren, we stay in a balcony room in the Log House. Rustic. New owners will be doing necessary updates that previous owner neglected. Beautiful view of mountains and lake from the Log House. Short drive down to lake. Beautiful paddle around the lake. Please do that. It is serene and gorgeous. Maybe you'll see ospreys, eagles, mergansers and the loons!
re+ do something again and again nan
thanks ru. and i definitely want to go there scrab
When I am stressed I close my eyes and push off the dock in my kayak/canoe and paddle around the lake. My heaven.

my depression decided to whack me over the head this morning.
poor hurshy? want crossy to amuse you with a selection of his dirty limericks?
thanks, but i'm not really a fan of dirty limericks.
i was at a store with various bacon flavored candies last week and thought of you, though.
:(
very nice:)
it was at amish acres, in nappannee, indiana.
well then,no limericks..no streaking..mmm well then it is time for the all new crossys pun of the day!
puns are good
I couldn't quite remember how to throw a boomerang, but eventually it came back to me..
haha
There was a sign on the lawn at a drug re-hab center that said 'Keep off the Grass'.
there u go,2 for 1
thanks :)
anytime
want to hear what the kitten did last night then?
sure
is it too late to say yes to the dirty limericks, lol
well, crossy did 6!! loads of laundry yesterday, all clean and smelling like downy and it was all on the couch.i thought it would be fine there till today when i would fold it...
but when i woke up...
there were socks in the litter box, there were t-shirts under the couch, the cat beds we now lined all snugly with my wifes underwear...
:)
and he3 hadd a sock stuck on his left paw
how cute
he was asleep in the centre of what remained of the pile
at the moment he is stalking our 3 year old male kitty
i love kitties
so,the training continues..crossy was just trained to put the laundry away before bed time:(
just as i have been trained to never leave plastic bags out, ever, for even a minute.
yes, kitties and puppies can get into problems with the plastic handles
not just that - my marty likes to chew on them. at first i thought he was just chewing but then found bits in the litterbox.
bad kitty
yeah it's weird he LOVES it SO MUCH. so, i got one of those crinkle sacks where it sounds the same but it's enclosed in fabric.
thats why we bought 2 krinkle bags for the kitties, they get the sound of a plastic bag but it is safe
snap
ours will climb in them and have a nap
want something the cats will go crazy over? get a length of that white dryer flex tube that is used to vent the dryer outside about 5 feet is perfect
but like the second you bring home a bag from the store, there he is.
lol
and also, carrots. he loves carrots. so, carrots in a plastic bag is his version of heaven.
a cat that likes carrots;)
he's orange, so my theory is that he thinks that it will help keep him orange.
perhaps:)
our 6 year old female kitty is orange/butterscotch
her name is aberacadabera hocus pocus melbourne..abby for short:)
and the 3 year old male black kitty is sirrius black
and the new black kitty is named amos
for that top row, can't believe there's no "eerie" in the puzzle
i have 150 pounds of black dog wrestling on my back...<sigh>
think of it as a organic massage carlee
yes...am trying to find the zen in 8 paws with thick claws
put booties on the dog and train it in pressure poits
When is your hike, Carlee?
points
One of my rabbits does not like carrots.
we leave friday scrabs
almost done dehydrating :)...just ground beef I think... and if i find a roast on sale this week more beef jerky
get hurshys cat to talk to it scrabby
hey all
how's the grid today?
Bring lots of nuts, Carlee.
Hi Stid. first 2/3 have been fine
good. I'll jump in... *splash* giving myself 10 minutes to play now, and then heigh-ho, it's time to make more willow withies for trellising. :-)
ask crossy..i dont think i need to worry about more food :p
we are eating gourmet on the trail :)
sure sounds like it, carlee! I am so impressed with your preparations. And inspired. Thinking I might try dehydrating a few things this summer for use in the winter when I don't have energy to cook. Also, the freezer is going to be premium space this year (Mother is buying half a pig and 18 chickens, so some of that is coming our way), so I have to learn some new food saving strategies! LOL
its been fun :) and a learning experience
ok..grabbing some lunch..and starting to put meals together and dehydrate some g.beef...and...throwng together some pizza dought o make calzones for dindin
*stomps feets petulantly* rerefo4 is SO a word! I have to do it every time the kids don't grab their laundry promptly!
later carlee (I'll be there for dindin, can I bring fresh berries for dessert?)
D in the lower right corner for NBT please?
I have a de4/5 plural, stid, and hi again!
thanks sue (again)
anagram of past tense of to flee
and farmer in the de** minus one of the stars, then pluralize
ah, thanks scrabs, that gives me the other 2!
and thanks also scrabs
Geez, those clues are complicated. Sorry.
and that puts me at halfway. Have to get my activities started before I am glued to my chair for the day. see you-all later! *poof*
dehydrating is great. we dry all sorts of veggies (some need to be blanched first to preserve color) but they pack great for camp meals
Do you have to buy a dehydrator?
this fall i am debating doing canning again..a pre made ca of green giant green beans is $1.85..it may be time to get back to basics
I think I will try freezing stuff.
i am using my convection oven
i have 2 cases of quart jars and 2 of pinth with lids and rings that were given to me,i just need the boiler and the tongs etc
pint
A convection oven?
dishwasher on sterilize works too crossy
hi again; back for a little while. We freeze, have dehydrated, and can fods. The main thing you always need to remember is Use the food you've put up.
do not own one of those fancy dishwasher thingys carlee
my oven is convection....so i put on 170 F..with convection..dries stuff out nicely
crossy is the dishwaser
I have 16 tomato plants this year and am hoping for a big harvest.
nor do I anymore crossy
sounds like a good idea, carleet. Our microwave has a convection oven feature (but I've never used it). I wonder if that works the same?
no idea nef... get some mushrooms and try it...good quick inexpensive way to give it a whirl
sounds like a plan, carleet. I'll do that
i dehydrated a huge pot of ratatouille ( 2.5 quart pan) into less than a sandwich ziplock bag
lol@ 16 plants scrabby.me and my da once got the brilliant idea to buy 4 beefsteak tomato plants at the garden centre.they were 2 feet high, scraggly things in the little pots, but we took them home anyways..well! in no time at all we had tomatos coming at us left and right.we were giving them away
tomatoes die on me
i have neverhad a good tomato crop...
no rattoes fro crossy carlee..
no rattos for u..i know...mac and cheese with ground beef?
or beef stew with cheesy grits?
we have an over-abundance of raspberries and mulberries this year. I'm toying with the idea of the best way to preserve them. I'm not a big fan of jellys and jams (although DH is);
i make seedless raspberry jam..OMG...and u can do so much with it... make rasp squares...use as ice cream topper...
i HAVE NOT HAD a good tomato crop for a few yrs.
dehydrating may take forever. And I need to make space in the freezer if I go that route.
why need freezer space for jam?...just get some certo and sugar.. boil....oh is sooo yummmm
I've dried on cookie sheets and a rack over the pilot light of my oven, but have had a dehydrator for years now, fruit leather and dried apples are my grandsons favorites! but wild leeks, corn, string beans, even zucchini and tomatoes, work well.
Hey Scrabs. Just got back from visiting the kiddies in the Bay Area. A week of attempting to potty training the almost 3 y.o. with little to say for it.
I planted about 20 various tomato plants this year. We always eat them as soon as they ripen and rarely have any for canning
At that age they are defiant and resistant.
i just want some unripened ones for fried green tomatoes with goats cheese grits
You betcha!
time to pick peas and hoe corn, later!
Best window of opportunity = 18-24/30 mo.
My son wasn't potty trained til almost 3 1/2; my grandson was (mostly) trained by 2 1/2. But he does wet the bed at night if his Mom is emotionally unstable.
it will happen when it happens..i dont know any 18 year olds who arent potty trained
goats cheese grits, carlee? What's that?
i just bought out the store of reese peanut butter cups....froze them...ultimate bribe
right carlee, but it's frustrating as he's the only one in his pre-school who isn't
Yep, unless developmentally delayed, kids finally say good-bye to diapers by 4 - 5.
you know what grits are right nef?
carlee, there was a news item about some store being robbed of $600 of Reeses PB cups over several months. Was that you?
well instead of cheesy grits... i plop in a big chunk of creamy goats cheese when am making the grits...
who knows, maybe einstein would have been the only one in his preschool who wasn't, if they had preschool
Clue for the la5? An earlier clue went right over my head.
my kids were potty trained about 14 years ago nef...
sort of, carlee; (they're kind of like oatmeal or cream of wheat?)
la5 sounds like celtic great bird
that's boston celtics, not like, celts.
yeap...like whitened corn meal ( feels strange being a cdn teaching an american about grits )
Still no clue, Hurshy.
LOL! It isn't typical Minnesota farre, carlee!
really? ? you know, magic johnson rival... ok, well, then, what about L**** the cable guy. sounds like that.
nor is it typical cdn fare :p
or L****, Darryl and Darryl from newhart
OK, now I have it. TY.
so how do you know about grits -- and eat them too?
phew
i went down to NC and had a babble meet up with a woman who used to babble...and she took me for lunch to the restaurant that hippified traditional southern cooking
so..spicy fried green tomatoes...with goats cheese grits...was soooo yum I brought back a 5 lb bag of grits
hippified meaning, made hip, or meaning, made in a hippie style?
(funny how hip and hippie have now become dis-associated)
yes hurshy
42 left and not seeing a thing
yes WHICH?
hip...made cool...
okay. DH made fried green tomatoes (after the movie came out) and we "sort of" like those; but the grits sound--- different.
ah, thanks. so they did not have peace signs and tie dye
but in asheville hip and hippie are synonomous
I guess I can't get past the idea that grits arereally boiled breakfast cereal.
hmm that is odd
nef..if u put some cayenne in the bread crumb mixture...zips them up
asheville is a city unto itself...very trendy... artsy... with a whole underground hippie culture
I guess I need to go down south and have some of these thingsdone up right. DH is the adventerous gourmet cook in this house; but the grits he's made just didn't excite us....
Asheville NC?
grits dont excite me.... but with the soft goats cheese ..OMG
yes NC
i love goat cheese.
<jotting down info in notebook for future travel plans> Someone else told me that Asheville NC had the best BBQ ever. She was taking a suitcase of frozen ones home from vacation in April.
i am going to be in hotsprings Nc this coming sunday
nice!
then hiking back to erwin tn during the week that follows
ri 5/16??
and home by a week sunday
I wish DH would get well so we can travel. We were going to go down the Mississippi River this summer tasting all sorts of BBQ and local food (I'd be driving; we wouldn't be "on" the river
sorry, sammy; I don't have it yet (but am looking)
ok..gotta set up my oven to dehydrate some more...( ground beef)
got it.. never mind
then i need a nap...
bye carlee. HAGD

anything for my friends
are you still dreaming of that bookstore?
still working on it,yes
now that i am officially semi-retired,i may just speed it up a bit
great place for a babble meet
indeed, all my babble friends get two free books if they show up at my door wearing a name tag with their babble name on it
it's going to be brilliant
or a discount on the art suppkies of percentage off on the consigned art work
I remember the cat named Italics..what did you name the new kitten?
or
amos
is he famous? lol
he may be,i know he is infamous
don't think he'll be lying on the shelf anytime soon
no,he is not laid back enough to be a book store cat..may put our 6 year old butterscotch kitty in there, her name is aberacadabera hocus pocus
abby for short
love her name
it is because she can get out of any,and i mean ANY harness
she's magical
I think all cats are
she is large and in charge,is about 15 pounds and like i said her coat is butterscotch swirl and she has a stubby tail
she sounds beautiful
does she ignore the new little guy?
she is laid back..kitten is adhd on crack so she spends her time trying to kill the litten for some rest
3 year old male and kitten get along like long lost brothers
the 3 year old male is sirrius black
I can hear them plotting now
yupp..the short tailed she-b***h has got to go
LOL
i think she will be the bookstore cat and everyone is happy
sounds like a good plan
there we go,book is now converted..was a long one!
so many books..so little time
indeed.want to hear something sad?
okay
as humans,we are good for around 10,000 books at 2 books per week..that is it..no more...finito
that is sad
so do not waste time reading those trashy rags at the market check out counters lol
yep
i just sent a batch of books off to sprite not long ago i see, must erase the pack now..
is she still visiting Ruby?
not sure
what a trip that must have been
crossy one last question then I am gone..do you have any opinion on Toyotas? Thinking of getting either a Highlander or Rav4
i LOVE my toyota!!!
8 years old this year and i have done front brakes once and changed a tail light bulb
highlander,if gas is not a issue,the rav4 has a few bugs
we loved ours..gave it to our daughter..and now wish we had it back
but the highlander def
okay thanks I think you sold us
remember i just finished 30 years with my head under every type of car on the road
if you had a highlander before the rav 4 will feel cheap and tinny anyways
this will be the retirement car for long trips..he works at home now so not much of a commute
we had a Camry but want the cargo room
then there is no choice if you want to travel as well
you lose a big on gas,but gain everywhere else
bit
I will be sure to pass this on..thanks so much
np
and now I'm off to the kitchen..bye with hugs
tc westford
my god..found one word in 20 minutes..:9

Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!

Congratulations leighprefect on your fireworks! Way to go!
Hello again Everybody. How has your day been?
YAY. leighperfect!!! WTG!!
Hello Nef!How are you doing today?Welcome to the puzzle
hi Min. I'm fine today; how are you doing?
Congrats leighp!!! Just starting and hoping to do half of the grid.
I always find it funny to come back to a grid (after you swear there isn't another word left to find) and you suddenly see 5 or 6 words just staring back at you. How did I miss them the first time? :-)
hi stidge
Hi nef.
sorry about mis-spelling your name
Hello stidgmere! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
I am doing well Nef.I had my last day of school today, YAY!
YAY for you, Min!
Do you have a summer job too? It seems most of the teachers I know are so thrileed to be done with classes for the summer; and then they have all these odd summer things they line up and do (like uusue)
Yes, I'm teaching summer school for seventeen days in July
:-( Or maybe it's not such a bad thing?
ty minveryork. Gray day today back to Junuary.
T's Tumbled! 7 left
S's Stumbled! 5 left
Go, Min! You can do it!~
Dang. Now I'm entering words on letters I've already finished; the T's and S's because Min mentioned them..
the D's have me stumped though
(the upper D, that is)
A de 6/30 is one who refuses to follow the rules and the de 4/8 shortens the word Nef.
thanks, Min.
yw
Know what my last word is but I'm saving it for later tonite.
Hello all. how is everyone?
oh, man! Do you ever miss the easiest words? I feel dumb when I see the words I listed
hi red. Doing okay; how about you?
I am alright my last letter of the alphabet key is broken.... glad it is not a vowel.
oh-oh. How do you break that letter?
it just stopped working. Maybe it will work later. I had a similar issue with the a key a while back...
how is your hubby?
I need to share... DH decided to clean his keyboard on Saturday. He took ALL the keys out to do it; it took him 2 days to put it back together (and I had to get him an old one to copy; but his keyboard had a lot more keys that the rest of them around here.
Oh WOW...
Hey Red...OPEN...ALL PROGRAMS...ACCESSORIES...EASE OF ACCESS...ON SCREEN KEYBOARD...for when you have keyboard problems
hubby is brave.
I had a little piece and quiet then. :-) (steroid tapering off; his last dose is Thursday; then he'll be "back to normal" about a week after that
Nef, it's really easier to just get a new keyboard. They aren't expensive.
I have a mac, i think its a little different thank Molly!
macs are different
Oh, okay. I am not MAC proficient. But I'm sure it has a similar feature. You will just have to look it up.
cleaning helps too if there's something under it
I think it may just be a bit wet....we are a little wet here. BUt if it continues, I will have to deal with it...
I am glad there are none of that letter in the grid.
It would be easy to get a new keyboard, but its a lap top....alas alack alay.
it's in at least 2 F words
red, you can plug a regular keyboard into a laptop and it works just fine. That's what we did when I worked in triage....
I hate to break it to you Red, but the last letter of the alphabet is used in some words in this grid.
I could... somehow this will work out. I'm waiting for the trial coverage to start again...running!
I have a nonfunctioning key on my laptop keyboard as well; I use the Windows onscreen keyboard but it is still a nuisance
and hi again all!!
LOL the chance of me finishing the grid...rare, I can copy and past...the one letter! Hi uusue.
hi red!
hi sue
said letter is actually used in quite a few f words, I count 5 so far
Hey there, my peeps.
hi nef and peach!
I think I may already have to go to bed....I want to stay up, but...
Hello redturtlehead! How are you doing?Welcome to the PB
hi peach! How are you?
Hi gapeach1066! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid.
Doing OK, Nef. ....and you?
Hi there, Min.

Congratulations 72 Temple Owl on your fireworks! Hooray!

Good evening, everyone! I have 2 words left - fr8,80 and re7,32. Any clues would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
fr8/80 is what your hair is like in humidity and the French feminine diminuative
Good evening Babblers. I just started a little bit ago. Hope I can finish.
Hi Brooke, I just found fr8
Maybe this will help Nef......
fr 8 - looks like pt of fr 4/7
(sorry to tired to spell. Hope that made some sence
I have almost attained fi 4/7works.Here is a story ri 4/7 with clues. My niece just learned how to cr 5/20. She is so cu 4/6! However, she is also a little de 6/30 because she goes to places she knows she isn't supposed to go to She has become very de 4/8 at disappearing. The more she cr5/20s the de6/30 she gets.Sometimes we have to do 4/5 on her to get her toys so she does not disappear. If we take our eyes off my niece for just a little minute, she will dr5/18 off to places unknown. She moves about with such fi6/30ness & speed, we have to put the gates up by all the stairs.Once my brother was ir4/5 when the babysitter let my niece cr5/20 outside toward the road. If her brother hadn't seen her, she might have fl4/8 the front yard. My brother was so angry that he fi 5/18 the babysitter. Of course he would not give the babysitter a reference le 6/18 to get a new job. Husband wants the computer. I fr 4/7 what he'll do if I do not give it to him so I will give it to him. Now that I have to 4/5 my story I am going to go watch the Eastwood movie "High Plains Dr 7/44".I will be back after the movie to help w/clues.
Awesome clues for fr - thanks!
.... but others are faster cluers! lol
Hello Brookie! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
Hello wht! How are you doing tonight?Welcome to the log.
Hi Minveryork! Doing well, thanks!
Hello Bugsaw! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
hello Minveryork. Thanks for your story. they are great as always
Okay, re7,32 left...
freeclay
Wht, somehow, I think you will finish. Yes I do. : )
thanks Min.
re7 is dumb. It's when you re +re5/12
(so you're repating twice
Wow, that is dumb. I had actually thought of that word but didn't think it actually existed, so I didn't try it! So much for assuming... Thanks sooo much!
err... repeating
since people are here, just putting it out again that we want to have a Babble meeting on the west coast of BC this summer. Check my icon for details if you are interested
Sorry to grab clues and run! Have a nice evening, everyone!
it would be fun, Bugs; but I doubt if I can make it. DH has to get well before we do anything else.
YAY, Brookie! WTG!!
May I please have a clue for re6-30? Thanks.

when your laundry spills you have to re**** it peach
Thanks much, Nef.
Hello dan2bit! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.

ty Min I am well, and you?
Thanks much, Min.
refee
Sorry.
not quite, peach...
refee?
May I please have a clue for re6-18? Thanks
Refee...what someone who talks baby talk calls a joint.
re 6/18...re + as*** projection
Out of body experience
Time to play name that author.
nbt and nbs. 46 left.
re 6/18 word is re + Judith Krantz book Mis****'s Daughter.
I'm all finished! I have sparklers! fe 6/30 was my last word.
wtg min
I have 4 words left; and 4's. Please help! I need the do5/14 (first one); the to 4/7, tr 4/7 and the last tr 4/4
Thanks you all. Brain is slowing down now. Finally got it
YAY, Min!!! WTG!!!
Congrats, Min.
I just got the last tr 4
do5,14 is pt of do4,5
YAY Min!
wht, it just won't work
to4/7...sounds like not hard?
te6-21 please.....thanks
Past tense of the pineapple brand Nef
te6/21...te + rose color + vowel
that's the wrong do, Molly
Thanks much, Molly.
I need the 1st do5, so before the pineapple
do + *** Knight was on The Mary Tyler Moore Show?
Ohhhh, that is "soft" in Italian
I'll be here off and on for clues. Story already in my profile
nope, I have that "do" also
There is the Italian sweet, nef.
La do*** Vida
wht! I loves ya! that was it! :-D
wouldn't it be Sweet in Italian?
(I don't know Italian, rurur)
I think it applies to gelato.. sweet and soft
finally got FW. THANK YOU ALL!!! (My, aren't they pretty!?!!)
Soft or sweet, but my clues just fly right by people, so it doesn't matter.
clue for the fr8, please.
Molly, I don't understand any language (even English sometimes)
I would think Sweet first Italian men are to macho to be soft
I think it's actually a musical term. But what do I know.
that could bt
be
hair gets fr8 in humid weather, + french feminine small
I'm praying for a small grid tonight.
why ru?
ty nef. That is the oddest word so far tonight.
That fr 8/80 is a small version of a bad hairday maybe wht
I'm in SF all day and with traffic I'll never make it home to finish
I'm exhausted from this grid; anyone need clues that I can explain?
I'd like a nice 75 word grid
Congratulations Nef on your sparklers tonight! Good for U!
oh, ok. will join your atheistic prayerchain
thanks, Min
ROFL
I like your definition of the fr8, min.
yw
I use prayer selectively.. usually only with babble..lol
Dorens, looking at your icon in the small size, I thought it was my bed! :-)
Atheistic prayer chain, the oxymoroniest.
Thank you wht! That word is definietly a hard one to clue.
** finito ** last word AR 6/18 - plural of AR 5 - but not seeing it for too long - time for bed i guess
once my (then) husband was piloting a small private plane with me and (our then) two year old son. and he lost power to an engine and was looking for a place to emergency land. And i was afraid to ask him how bad it was so i assumed the very worst. I made so many bargains and promises in the form of prayer that day!
YAYwv!! WTG!!!
wow doren
Congratulations wvteach on your sparklers! Hooray for you
what ended up happening?
it was kind of an insane moment. never went happily in a plane with him again after that. and yay nef!
That would pretty much keep me out of small planes too
me too!
With that I bid you all a good night.
he found a very small airport not far from where we were and he landed there. we got friends or family to come pick us up, we were about two hours from home. i don't remember what was wrong with the plane, but i certainly remember my emotions and thinking. and pleading with my mythical god of the moment
night nef.. sleep well..
sweet dreams nef
Goodnight Nef! I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
god of airbags I'd guess
Good night nef
gosh, this was a little cessna twin, back i 1976... don't know if air bags existed. to me it was just the god of the woods... ramapo mountai range actually
I have a pilot friend who says that any landing you walk away from is a good landing.
did you have a wet seat? lol
i think that's true wht....
Fireworks
Molly, you were right.
don't remember ru, but if so i could always blame it on jeremy... he was just two and in diapers then. But this past friday he coauthored the lead article for th New England journal of Medicine's 200th anniversary issue (by invitation)
Congratulations wht on your sparklers tonight! Way to go!
wow.. that's a big deal
you have such bright kids..
yeah... he is a hot shot medical historian, so it would make sense.
thanks.. i used to take partial credit, but lately i am more of the mind that they get it all from their father (even if he did idiotically insist on flying those tin cans with wings)
Congratulations to Jeremy and his proud Mom.
Let's keep that between you and I, Wht. It would ruin my "Black sheep Babbler" reputation. But thanks. : )
no, no molly you have to tell. please!
Dorens, Molly is a prophet. When I started I said that I didn't know if I would finish, and she said I would.
(he also went off to the 200th anniversary gala and left me to babysit. next night was a reception at the Museum of Fine ARts and i was supposed to bring the kids, but Levi was under the weather and slept too late
black sheep?
oh, of course you would wht. that is just you S O P, isn't it?
I do finish more than I don't, but I didn't give myself all day, today.
this one doesn't seem so bad, though, is it?
And I didn't finish the 700 word grid. :^)
No this one was pretty straighforward.
It is my contention that the 744 drew the line between the hard core Babblers and those of us who consider it sport.
nice term there," hard core". has a nicer ring than mine, which is "truly insane" (of course i am one of them)
744 wasn't for sissies that is for sure
Well, I had to start that one just to see what I could do, even though I only had an hour or two to work on it.
I wonder how long it took gremlinn to finish that one. 45 minutes?
it certainly was challenging
i had to finish it, just because i am "truly insane"
<---in the loony bin too
Good for you dorens. That is a good kind of insanity.
sometimes i'm not so sure wht. when other things in my life are sacrificed for my obsession, it doesn't feel all that good
oh, wht. i was in arlington for dinner the other night. za?
everyone has to have a few addictions doren
really ru? why can't i just be normal and do this in moderation?
Did you enjoy your dinner, Dorens. I haven't been there in a while. But Arlington has a lot of great restuarants.
Hard core, it's like the difference between alcoholics who drink straight out of the bottle and the rest of us, who use a glass. : P
yup. surprisingly good. a nice salad with black beans, avocado, etc. and chocolate goat cheesecake for dessert. even the coffee was good
so mol, are you accusing me of drinking straight from the bottle, now? ?
Sounds great, Dorens. I might have to give it another try.
No Doren, I know you use lovely glasses and lift your pinky just so. : )
(and the pizzas were good too, but i let jeremy order and he got things like pickle pizza with swiss and chorizo. and goat cheese, arugala, strawberries and balsamic reduction. strawberries!! on pizza!
lovely glasses from time to time, mol. but finish it up straight from the bottle from time to time
Oh my GOD! Those are the grossest pizza toppings I have ever heard of.
i know! but believe it or not they still tasted good. i think i was very hungry
Sorry, but I'm a non-believer when it comes to things like that. Pizza is sacred and should not be messed with in such a way.
They have to be good, because in addition to all the good restuarants, there are something like 27 pizza places in Arlington. So Za tries to combine the two.
no need to apologize molly. it did seem sort of gross, even tho it tasted good. at least they didn't order the mac n cheese pizza. and yes, they really are good
Doren, if I have pizza nightmares tonight, I am going to hold your son responsible. : O
what are your favorite places wht?
