ah well - my days have been filled with sick friends - yesterday I spent all day taking a young woman to doctors in Chicago (she has limited vision and can't drive), today it is a friend with advanced cancer who is being seriously ill-served by the medical establishment (he's in a nursing home, needs treatment, but in order to get transportation to the treatment reservations should be made 21 days in advance)

and for those following the saga of my eggies purchase ,i told you last time they were smaller than they were shown on tv,now i have tried them with medium sized eggs and Just managed to fit them in the eggie unit and seal the top.i am about to boil them in a minute but have a feeling the tops are gonna pop off.so if you wish to try them,imho,they are best used with that liquid egg preperation they sell in cartons and not natural eggs,or for those who wisht to make a boiled egg entirely out of egg whites

back. Having a small old dog who thinks he's a guard dog can be annoying at times. He's given a neighbor a migraine once and I try to listen for barking when he's outside.

with the A/C on, it's hard to hear him when he's out front. SO I really try to prevent that behavior as much as I can
I don't let my dogs stay out. Don't have fence, invisible or otherwise. Too much mischief, barking, digging a den in my flowers
I let him stay out in the fenced yard if he behaves. He likes the outside; he'll stretch out on the cool brick patio on hot days (it's on the east side of the house)
My fluffs are too reactive to what's going on outside the yard. And, there are coyotes
Our previous dog used to go around and eat berries off the bushes (strawberries, raspberries, and even the grapes! -yeah I know they shouldn't have them)
this dog doesn't do that. But he did take off after a raccoon one night! What a noise!

Good news -- deck stairs and railings are painted -- just the lower deck floor and we're done!
I don't know which is worse, to be honest, nan -- the weeds grow so fast with the rain and the regular plants grow slower. But with too hot everything crisps up and that's awful, too.

well, for us, it was a rather long winter, and not much of a summer last year either. I have two years where fruit production has been pretty slow and minimal.
we wouldn't leave Canada -- like all our "socialist" perks too much!

blueberries, plums, apples, asian and european pears, blackberries (native as well as himalaya), strawberries, currants, gooseberries.
Used to have raspberries, but they were crushed by falling trees. Need to replant this fall.

not much, kje -- too gray and cold to sweeten and grow. In the week and a half that we did have sun all my strawberries were ripe within about four days though.
usually I have harvested the plum already by now.
but it's at least three days away if we get full sun. Which we won't for a few days.
