I did take a nap, so hope I can sleep for real in a bit... but probably not. I have to go pick up our roof repair guy bright and early, sigh
I'm not much good at bright and early these days. A long working career of 7 AM jobs, and once I turned that off, alarm clocks have ceased to work for me.
Congrats, rose!
back....and sprite gone. hey rbud, katie, i don't think i said hello before. apologies!

hiya, g'rose! good to hear you had a good day, I saw that earlier

I haven't accomplished much today.....did laundry last night.....just too tired to do much.

hey ruby
{{flosey}}
Hello everyone. Just here for a little bit a relaxing b4 I rush off again. You are well Rose - and improving?
{{lynxx}}
yes thanx, lyn. having a good day today.
a bit of sun improves everything doesn't it
Oh, rose, hon. I have bad sinus and allergies....just as many others here in this humidity. It just kind of saps our strength.....but we keep on. Glad you are doing so well. Brava!
sure do4. even my pain levels, lol
even in paradise, we have tiny, invisible insects called "aoutat" which keep us miserable and itching
yuck, peach. read that it has been quite warm over there. and to not be well at the same time.utterly unbearable, i would say
poor peach!

sorry
gapeach is carolamaya?

Whooo, found the PR10
yes lyn
hello christine
yay, christine
Hwllo, everyone
hwllo Christine
I'm crosseyed, watching those skinny children, on the bars.
O
I think the real reason they've never accepted me for the Olympic team, is that I have a bust and bottom.
oooohhhhhh, got to tell you all, got on the scales and have now lost a total of 20kgs.
braggart!
Yay you.
20 kg! that is a lot
who me or christine?
but really that is terrific Rose!
How much is that in pounds (or even stones?)
wonderful for your new knee (and even the old one)
44lbs
Whooo. I gave up sugar, about two years ago, and lost 40+ which just shows how much sugar I was inhaling each day.
and i now have a waistline again. well, face on, i have. sideways still look like a pear.lol
Welcome, one pear to another -- except I'm a pear with bulges on top ...
Got to go - keep my seat warm for me
we have given up processed carbohydrates. ie bread, cake, biscuits
bye lynxx
see you, lyn
never did have much of the bulges on top.even at my 2nd wedding still had to wear a padded bra.lol
<-- no bulges any place -- look like a stick-boy
(it's horrible) little chicken old lady
lucky, ruby. gals, she's a stunner!!hope i end up half as good as she looks!
Do you remember the topless swimsuit of the 60s? My then-husband used to say, if I wore one, I'd need a sign to say if I was facing forward or back. Then, I retired about a dozen years ago, gained 52lbs in one year, and developed said bulges.
rose is just saying that. I look like I'm dead, but just haven't fallen over yet lol
rofl, ruby.
It is always fun to be on the chat with y'all. You all are spirit lifters.
Are things not good for you, right now?
you'd need a derrick to lift mine lol, ruefully
Just humidity here in the south, Christine. It is so much better here in the winter though.
tods
whoops again. bad nel!
Where do you live?
Augusta, Georgia
Oh yes, I've heard of your humidity. So.Cal is lovely. Warm today, but still comfortable.
* giggle * ruby when you say things like ' bad nel ' you give it away that you have a new puppy in the house
I have a cousin in San Diego. I've been there many years ago but I could breathe much easier.
I'm in Los Angeles,
Yes, I looked at your profile. I'm glad the weather is good for you too.
great food in Sou. California
Do you get around much there, Christine? I would be totally lost, I'm sure.....but you have been there for some time though.
About fifteen years ago, I suddenly stopped registering hot or cold weather (not that it gets too hot or cold in L.A.). I've never used the airconditioner in 40+ years, or the heater, since my daaughter moved into her own apartment
I've been in So.Cal for more than 50 years, mostly in L.A. Longer than I lived in UK.
That's sounds wonderful.
that's interesting christine. so you put on a huge amount of weight, and stopped feeling hot/cold about the same time?
I love it - I'd planned to stay only one year (had a job lined up in Australia), but I tell people, by the time my second foot hit the ground, I was a Californian. My second yar, I moved to San Francisco, but missed L.A's lovely weather.
it must be insulation -- like wearing wool robes in the desert.....
ever had any thyroid tests done, including an ultrasound?
No, Grannyrose - I stopped feeling hot or cold about thirty years ago, about 45yrs.
Thyroid is ok, doctor says I'm freaky, and he can't tell why, bbut I feel good, so we're not worrying about it.
okay, then that is probably not it.
half and DH is back from the store
see you later, kids
would love to find out why my body temp. swings so much. drives me nuts at night. and no. it's not menopause. been there 30 years ago.
see you at the flip ruby.
Early appointment, so I'm off, too. God bless, all.
if all okay with you christine et al, i will away, also. see you at the flip. hope you have good days, arvo's, evenings, nights
Sweet dreams, Christine.
You too, rose and ruby.

yes that how i feel, i hate winter
we've been lucky here. Except for the biting insects, it's been wonderful
humidty is awful here.. but in the winter we will be wishing for it lol
we actually need rain, after an insanely wet spring
we do too, rains a bit, then dries rite up.. poor birds been singing for days asking for rain
we have a fountain for the birds and DH buys about 10 lbs of sunflower seeds/week
love the look of fountains in yards, so peaceful. have a porch off bedroom, love to sit in early morning b4 all noise starts.. remember there is a peaceful time for me after all lol

nursing home doctor Sue?
we have a friend who has metastatic pancreatic cancer; he has no relatives so Frank is his medical advocate
oh dear...hard for both of you let alone your dear friend. Good luck
thanks! he is taking it pretty well but it has come on very fast and he is having trouble getting his head around the prognosis (which is not good)
it is great that you and frank have stepped up and assisted this friend in his pallative care:) yaa for suze and frank!
a friend in need is a friend indeed!
pancreatic cancer claimed my husband
((((Jean)))) that is very tough
yes
he's not very old, either (meaning younger than me :-), mid-50s
hi Espritd - not a good memory
and it happens so bloody fast,my first diagnosis went like this"heart is fine,bp is fine, you have stage 3 lympnoma report to princess margerettes for 6 months of chemo, you colesterol is fine"..i tell you all the warmth of a snow pea
palliative and hospice workers are angels from heaven
three months ago he was working full time in a glass shop hauling 100-lb pieces of glass
i had to stop him and back him up to say"you just ran our lives into a brick wall, could i have some more detail please?"
was fast for him indeed suze
we have't been able to talk to him about hospice yet; we'll see how the radiation therapy goes
pallative care workers deserve a special place of honor
amen brotha
Yay for radiation therapy! saved my life - hope it works for him Sue
pancreatic cancer usually takes no prisoners
all cancer workers, the canadian cancer society saved my life in so many little ways
it won't save his life, lynxxx, it's palliative, the hope is that it will reduce his pain for a while
how old is he sue?
Oh - I am sorry
and look up that kit for him
56, crossy
damn
indeed.
because,in the last weeks he will need the extras that the kit provides
ah - dog having a little sleep hasn't been here for a while
any nurses aid or nurse practitioner or palative care personel can use it at need
well maybe not an aide, cause it has morphine amuples in it
they are getting better about giving him pain medication when he needs it; he doesn't want to be doped up all the time though
but the radiation therapy does seem to be helping a bit - he can move a bit more easily although he still can't really sit
just information is all sue,i saw many in their last weeks at princess marerettes.i will not bother you with nit again.i know this time is stressful
they gave us some bottles of painkillers that he was prescribed but that they can't dispense due to some rule, so we have those. And we've gotten some information from a pancreatic cancer group and given it to him. It is a process, and not easy.
it is not easy indeed
anyway now i really must run! I did get the 9 - thanks to whomever clued it (scrolled off my screen) - nbs, nbt, over half way, and bbl!
tc suze

isn't it...wish I was small enough to wear it.
You will have to rest your hands after making that
I feel your pain Hurshy.
The funny thing - the wool cost me an unbelievable $8.00. The 3 buttons $10.50
AND i'm not clean enough yet, i have to resoap.
geez, Lynxxx
lynxxx, why didn't you make it in your size?
It would be too bulky Hursh - and I don't need to add to my size. The girl I made it for is petite - in fact a jockey - she can wear it easily
ah.
Just saw the pic...gorgeous! Lynxxx, you and my mom could start a knitting club!
doorbell .....be back shortly
ssshhhh it's still a secret but she is actually just pregnant...at least baby clothes are a lot easier/faster to knit
It isn't me Mom....
I won't tell Lynxxx!
my brain has just totally shut down....guess I'll say goodbye. Enjoy the grid!
Oh bye Lynxxx! {{hugs}}
lyn that is just gorgeous
snap, car
Hi TO! I was on the phone and didn't see you sneak in!
hi car, i was here but on FB
Do you happen to have the second word from the bottom N? I have na 5/10, but can't find the other.
Sorry...I have na 4/4 from that N....so confusing!
na6/18 meaning to chatter incessantly? as in na6ing nabobs?
i am not sure what comes from what, i have all of the n words
Different N.
indian readx5? granmother/s?
The bottom n's are plural of woman's name and plural of Indian bread.
Good morning, all.
Hi Molly! Hi Judi!
car, i leave you in good clueing hands.
Hmmm...its the Indian bread.....
Are you leaving already?!?!?!
yes, must run errand efore the heavens open. i have been here an hour. it is amazing how quickly it goes without chat
Got it! TY everyone!
Yikes! Me too then! Off to work I go!
I wish you all a wonderful day! {[hugs}} to all!
hagd, bye
Bye to!
*sniff* Feeling lonely.
Just put these little grids on cruise control
*Hands Judi a tissue*
BR - I see you've relocated to Antarctica. Is that a literal or figurative relocation?
i didn't know antarctica had a flag!
i am pretty sure BR is NOT actually there.
I am in North Dakota ..... Antarctica is interesting
They have a flag. You just can't see if because of all the snow and ice.
I like to ice skate
Eesh. Lots of phantoms today.
i am supposed to like to ice skate, but i don't because i always get sore arches. i guess i would have to purchase skates that really fit my feet properly.
Hockey skates always fit me better than figure skates. Not that I ever skate anymore. I sucked at it.
Supposed to like to ice skate?
my grandfather is very into ice dancing - continued doing it into his 80s - so he wanted to pass it on
Did you ice dance with your grandfather, hurshy?
maybe when i was a toddler...
He he. Cute.
I tried to ice dance but never could find a comfortable chunk of ice.
it was sort of funny when he was so old and all he could get for partners were like teens and 20 somethings
they are moving in with my parents next week, i wonder if he will find a rink near them to skate.
He should teach. Have some fun. Make some money.
well he only just retired from his regular job, and that only because my grandmother had a stroke after christmas which left her unable to take care of herself.
but perhaps with my mom around to care for her he can get out more.
Will you be busier when the new semester starts, hursh?
sadly, no. unless i get a new job.
Morning Babblers!
morning christa
Hurshy, are you a figure skater. I'm a big fan of skating
My daughter competed when she was a child
no, i'm not, only my grandfather.
Ooh. I just found the 10. *pa/4 self on back"

po9 is from the bottom p
this is a very unusual grid - lots of P's and they are NOT killing me!

Martin Luther pervades the ten
is that one weird or normal, molly?
It extends the 7 but makes a completely different word. And the po9 is weird.
would you mind cluing it then?
Molly, hint for the po 9, pls
Molly, hint for the po 9, pls

that's what i forgot
woot, i have got 90%! now i will get the list.
At least no snow is being forcasted this week
is it sometimes for you in august?!
DON'T. SAY. THE . S. WORD.
August is the only month on record that snow has not been reported
oh my, there is an alt spelling of my phantom, an8.
I should bloody well hope not.
I wouldn't mind some cold weather, maybe even snow. Summer is so over for me
Montana, because of mountainous areas, reports snow in all months
wow
ursy, hint for the an 8, pls
Where are you in Montana BR?
wow . . . heat index at 100 here again today . . . ugh
*hurshy
would love a bit of the white stuff :-)
look at my phantom a few mins ago and stick in an extra vowel
Snow is not so bad, it is the wind as Sam McGee describes which makes it tougn in winter: Talk of your cold! through the parka's fold it stabbed like a driven nail.
ty hurshy
I have great memories of Glacier National Park
lol, took me forever to fumble the spelling of the pr 10 as we never had much dealings with that particular version of things:)
Of course that was in July
It's true I live in Montana and I try to walk on snow at least once a month
hint for pr10?
methodist, anglican, but not catholic
martin luther got that show going
think religions.
thanks!!
And now there are over 34,000 christian denominations in the world all claiming to possess the only true way to heaven
only 34,000?
well... i mean... a lot of the people in them consider that other denominations are also just fine.
lol
Many Christians do not believe that everyone else fails to enter heaven
When in doubt, do unto others, etc. etc.
(by the way)
i can see it now,at judgement day,it will be the most oddball, vauge sect on the planet that was right all along and 6 people go to heaven:))

New Mexico State’s first graduating class in 1893 had only one student— and he was shot and killed before graduation.
from nmu website: NMSU’s first graduating class, the class of 1893, had just one member – Samuel Steel. Unfortunately, Steel was shot and killed shortly before graduation in what was then still very much the Wild West. The following year we had five graduates. All received bachelor’s of science degrees. One of them was the university’s first female graduate, Agnes Williams. Another person in that class was Fabian Garcia.

Uncover, I think the Mexican volcano would be a proper noun, but you never know with these grids. It would be a great word, points wise.
yes'm , I agree it would most likely be a proper noun, its just that that is what my eye looks for when it sees volcano. Likely , the result of a misspent youth , and a story I remember reading way back in elementary school

I still have issues with Disney characters being on that show. It's supposed to be about classic fairy tale characters.
Hi uu. Hi cos.
Kiddo got to his appointment and will be ready for the rehearsal this evening, Mother -- he left his BLUE sweatshirt in my car this time, will stop by in a little bit and drop it off with you before you head out.
the concept is still classic
just the character's names..
TY trying to get jackets on kid is amazingly difficult.
LOL and I REMINDED him before he left the car to grab it -- he assured me up and down that it was in his backpack... and when I got home and reached on the back seat for my purse... *sigh* *BIG sigh*
Isn't Disney classic? like Coke?
It's too bad they can't use Peter Pan. That would be fun to see.
Well. I have flogged this grid enough. Time to say adios.
bye, gmere!
adios, Mother -- a bientot, au revoir, auf wiedersehen, hoyt (that one is Lushootseed)
lol itll prob happen Molly...
there was a still released from them shooting
and rumplestiltskin was seein stealing a pirate's hook.
that rumplestiltskin is tricky...
I read that they can't get the rights to the Peter Pan characters.
20 days til season 1 on dvd :)
yeah. its probably just a hat tip molly
I've watched Season 1 several times over the summer on Hulu. You catch a lot on the re-watch.
i checked the other day. has to be hulu plus
and i had to scale back my expenses u know...
That's what I figured. You don't get much on regular Hulu anymore.
and since we switched from dish to direct tv i dont have them on my dvr anymore

i'd come in a disguise though
would love to see you there. :-) We are talking (Bugs and I) about cool things for people to do while they are in that area. Aside from the just sitting around and enjoying all the greenery
disguised as... human?
*wicked mama look*
a clown
oh! I know -- a golfer's hat and a cane with a griffon for the handle
no no, we'll know you instantly if you show up as a clown! LOL
oh no, wait -- are you ambulatory? Did you get the work done on your leg yet?
probably by my squeeze honker
Tom is asleep in his chair... I think he has been staying up too late playing Grant's stupid video game!
glad this is my only computer game
it's about the only thing I play anymore, too -- I just don't have the time to invest in MPG things anymore
being a responsible adult stinks.
yup
hello stiddy and ruru
hi granny
down to 71... I think I should list, but a more important task is getting a start on organizing the office... since Tom and Grant cleared out some space for me I want to spend at least an hour in there tonight.
hey grannyrose! how goes the walking?
speaking of the thirty minute club..
Are you ready for a half-marathon yet?
having another great day. weather being kind. have just walked outside for 25 minutes continuously
well done, you! *proud friend look* I am very impressed with how quickly you are making progress. you're a real inspiration!
and i only used one crutch! yay me!
excellent granny
half-marathon? do't think so, getting there though
hm. are you overdoing it? Are you being careful about the mechanics?
*gets out ice pack*
and coming down off the pain meds. have halved the slow release oxycodon
glad you are feeling so good!
yes, stiddy. but 7 house frontages is my limit at the mo'.abd physio suggested one crutch
lol, ice pack already in situ
well... just be careful. And keep yourself straight, not crooked if you are only on one crutch. I prefer a cane when using only one side.
have you both had a good day? winding down, nicely, i hope
stiddy, had himself right behind me, watching my behind. * holds breath* ruru, that's your cue!!
Yes, a good day here -- didn't get as much done as I had hoped (another migraine, but mild) but I am staying up with the new clutter. Which is WAY better than I was doing last year!
GOOD. *looks sternly at himself* He needs to keep you honest!
May I please have a clue for pa5-12 the 1st? Thannks
hey peach!
Hey there, stiddie.
I think it's like a hymn of praise, peach -- p, three vowels and a consonant
one more for me and then I will be down to 60. *determined mama look* and then I will work for an hour, and then be done for the day.
*stern mama look at self*
yay you, stiddy. and stiddy? Don used to get migraines every month, lasted up to 2 weeks at a time. since christmas, when i took him off instant coffee, no migraines. bad headaches every now and again, manageable with milder pain relief.
*sigh*
and he used to take paracetamol with high dose of codeine in it, i couldn't work out why the pain didn't improve, and he would start to vomit, profusely.
oh my! I have heard of food trigger migraines -- most of mine are triggered by light. I was out driving around in the sunshine today and even my good sunglasses weren't enough. Last summer's marathon migraines were triggered by an allergy med I had been prescribed. Those were truly awful. and glad they aren't coming back
ick. I can't take codeine.
then i realised it was the codeine which was making him ill.
yep. it makes me sick AND it makes me agitated. Very severe reaction.
ugh . . . can't even look at codeine
same here. you poor darling. nothing worse.
hey une
hi, granny :-)
The only time it didn't was when the hip was really bad and I had been up for three days straight from the pain -- I took one dose and was so tired I slept through the reaction. Threw the rest of the bottle out. Wish they would listen to me and only give me one pill at a time. I waste so much money on that dreck.
bonsoir, chere Une! comment ca va? comme est les chiens?
salut, stid! les chiens vont tres bien -- APRES l'orage plutot!
anyway... down to 57. (found a school of fish)
should probably go get that work done. LOL
we needed the rain but, jeez, the wind and lightning were scary
oh, I am glad the system has passed, was reading about those st5s
we haven't had a good downpour in a couple weeks, which I admit has been nice for gardening, but now I have to water almost daily.
we've had so much rain our backyardis a swamp. have hired a landscape gardener to sort out the drainage. it really is beyond Don's ken, how to deal with it.
*sigh* *VERY STERN look at self*
Grannyrose, have a lovely day, and everyone else, have a lovely evening -- will be back to finish later if I can. *poof*
later, stiddy, dear
Thanks stiddy.
hey carol/peach
Hey there, rose. How are you today?

Not too bad today, thanks. I always really feel so greatful for the good days.
