good morning Babblers
good morning sprite!
hey dobie!
been quiet here for a long while
I see it. A Babble lull :)
yep
looks like a fun grid
no too bad so far... i am unable to sleep so it is a nice distraction
insomnia is nasty. But Babble company is a consolation :)
wow! It is raining so hard here, with so much wind, that the rain is horizontal over my window!
awesome... but frightening too
a little bit. But we are used to lots of rain here. Our country is build around it.
i am in michigan... we say here that if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes and it will change
hahaha! Sounds good. It is pretty random here as well. Lots of rain of course and lots of wind. But also very hot and sunny days. Snow and ice in winter. Crazy weather more often than not :)
lol... ontario is in the grid. Not valid of course.
48 left - i think i will try to sleep again. good night sprite
sleep well, dobie. Gentle dreams and a quick falling asleep to you.
font
good one, red. Even better in the other window, grin.
sigh, good morning babblers, I was lurking.
sorry, but at least it was not a big reveal...
*giggle* Would never have guessed! Hiya red *hug*
Hi! i do a lot of early morning lurking. I am about to go out running, so I hate to get involved in chat and just poof.
yeah I can imagine. I so admire you for running. I wish I could.
I can just barely right now, so its not too much to admire. Plus I am hoping for some moon, I am afraid of the chupacabra...
*orders moon for red*
thanks I think we have none though, Going to wait for a few more mins...
*blows really hard to separate clouds*
I think we actually just have no moon right now sprite?
argh - in that case there is not much I can do ;)
But its ok, I need to get out there in about 3 minutes, so I can drive out there.
let me check
The worst part is that i know there are some people I dislike a lot planning to run the same ar4. this morning, so I am trying to avoid.
full moon on 31 aug... 2 days past first quarter now.
thats why its so dark, the chupacabra is roaming too...or at least it was last weekend.
maybe you can run the ot5 way around. If you meet them then, they will be past you before you know it. Must be tough to run in ar4s where you don't feel relaxed and safe :(
at least you are not a goat!
It is safe, but I think its always smarter to run when there is some light... and I will just have to run by them. They are silly women, and just run for medals- so they don't train...
and yes, I am not a goat which helps immensly.
those women are definitely goatier than you. I think you are safe from the chupacabra.
Ha ha!
well, I am at half way here, so must go see you all soon. Have a good day aSprite, nice to see you!
have a grand run, red!
ohhhh my favorite CR word is finally back!
Hi sprite - how was
our holiday?
*your holiday
hey Dianne, sorry, I was afk. My holiday was splendid. Lazy and great weather and good company.
hey sprite,,...where did you go for your ols
hols..
hi rolin, we stayed in the netherlands, went up north to Groningen. Very close to Germany.
cool.... im in australia at the mo
i have introduced a friend to babble...and she is sitting across from me saying things like.....'well that should be a word'....sound familiar???..lol
also cool!
roflol yes it does. Enable, especially the Babble version, takes some getting used to. Welcome to babble, friend of rolin!
oh... rolin... show her the cr5/22.
Wow, I am grateful for a grid with no P's today.
Thanks Sprite. Happy to be here.
i havent got cr5...lol
oh now i have...
hi Lizlin, have fun. Rolin, it is the apparently vowelless Babblet. Scots.
lizlin...you're gonna love this
hi andrew :) Particularly pleasant for you? ;)
perfectly peachy, Sprite ;)
morning all! ihave to agree with andrew...so happy there are no p's!!
lizlin...welcome!
hi littlebit!
hey sprite!!!
Hi littlebit
*grins at andrew* pointedly pleased to pe able to partake of your presence.
Lizlin, I hope rolin warned you... Babble is highly addictive.
how polite. :D
Yes! Iwas warned but we'll have to wait and see!
andrew: "I am to p-p-p-p-please," she sp-p-p-p-puttered.
*wipes Sprite's saliva off face*
and "I am to please" should read "I aim to please". Fraudian slip if I ever saw one.
I'm kidding! But all these P's are giving me traumatic flashbacks.
*hands andrew a towel* You should always know where your towel is.
nbt nbs :)
good job, sarah :)
ty :)
I live at the Y. It's a sometimes towel.
Sorry, that was totally lame...
fireworks here. Very fun grid. I am off for today - have fun all and enjoy your day and/or night. Lizlin, welcome to the madness. Hope to see you often. Make sure rolin behaves :)
wtg sprite :)
well done and take care, Sprite :)
later sprite!
behaves...moi???...
congrats :)
lol andrew. Ok, before I poof... towel reference is to Douglas Adams. Read up and be sure to know your classics!
I will search for a copy in German. I've been lazy with reading recently.
hallooooooo anyone in here?
yeeeeeess...
hi rolin...looks like you are having a great trip!
i really am...i just commented to my partner...we are going to have a hard time coping with the noise of city life when we get back
yea... i know that feeling... doesnt take long
yeah... thats the sad reality
3 weeks at a cottage, no phone no tv ,,,only a radio...and the only way to a neigbour is by boat... then....once an hour from there you are in toronto traffic..abit jarring to the senses
well there are thee people in this room ...we are all on laptops or ipad... playing babble and bridge.... after a day of the most gorgeous beach and mangrove walks
yea...we didnt even HAVE internet back then...didnt exist...so...only connection tot he world was radio..no newspapers.nothing... you were ina bubble
the walks sound lovely....just waking up here..heading to the Detroit Zoo today...
h mmmm.... 'didnt have internet'..... i find that hard to process...
i know.. was about 20 years ago....i used to suer at a family friend's cottage up north...until I was about 22
summer*
my M is glitchy on my netbook
oh i know we all had lives before the internet.... i just have difficulty perceiving such an existane now...lol
i remember it....simpler time...sometimes I wish we could go back to a time before all this technology
oh no... it cuases stress...speeds our life up... but id never be without it...
as long as I had my cell phone for emergencies..mind up there....we never did
and one of the cottages always had a dr...we had snake antivenom at a cottage all the time ( was kept AT a certain cottage for june, another for july and a 3rd for august..everyone knew where)
a sense of community...and now its an online community
well..they have phones now... so I presume internet..but will be dial up unless you have a rocket
i have a really good deal here...an aussie sim... that keeps me connected...but which i can use to tether my laptop and hotspot my partner's phone too
nice..that is handy...
i am not even sure if cell phones work up there...whether there are towers....is just a bunch of islands
and no one lives up there... is a summer place
sounds lovely..where?
is in georgian bay..not too terribly far from crossy..north of him...he in a city that on the bay...I was on an island in the bay
gerogian bay is the size of a lake... if you look at a map it is on the northern part of lake huron
i live on the southern most shore of lake huron on the cdn side
i did look on google maps...it looks remote
but to drive up to crossy's is aout 4 hours for me...to drive around the lake...not including border crossings to the states and back would take about 24 hours
24 hours???
hello
hi ruby
ok... all the walking and fresh air has done me in..im going to bed
night night rolin
hi ruby..and am sorry but bye as well...i have some personal hygiene ( hairy legs) to take care of before our outing today..and a load of dishes to wash up too before heading to the zoo
hi rolin and carlee
enjoy your afternoon ruby
ty carlee, you too
we finally have lovely weather here, at least for the next two days
Never fear Ruby, you are not alone. : )
hello molly -- in weather or in life?
In the chat : D
gm, ruby and molly
am I the only crank, or do you object when a 10-yr-old dominates the entire conversation when the parents don't even know each other that well?
hi ibd
i'd be a bit put out if any kid tried to take over the conversation.
depends if the kid is interesting
most aren't.
who knew? he kept correcting his mother and saying things like "I am very interested in details!"
I felt like giving him a smack (or standing on his instep)
i think the kid needed attention and didn't know how to get it in any other way. my g-son is doing that, but he's just annoying and is told firmly to chill.
I suppose it is better than the child fussing and complaining whenever the parents stop to chat, though.
yeah it really depends how the parents react - if they seem like they are finding it adorable, run for the hills.
maybe I'm not being fa**
That is good LBD, because attention mongering children grow up to be attention mongering adults.
altho last night i got into his face. long day at work, and then having him being a nosy body at dinner, interrupting and overall being rude. I just literally got in his face and repeated myself over and over and over til i got his attention. asked him if he thought that was cute or annoying. He made the right choice and stopped.
now, mine ARE just adorable. but then, they are cats.
sounds good to me, ibd! This kid's mother just stopped talking and let the kid take over
<-- mine are dogs and they NEVER interrupt
my grand-dog is wonderful!
did she seem like maybe inwardly fuming and just likes to do her disciplining in private?
I think she doesn't discipline
yikes
Ruby, I find it sad when parents don't know how to discipline.
her husband seems to be in control; she's his 2nd wife' he has 3 grown daughters and grandchildren
they wind up raising awful adults!
ugh, hate those spare the rod types. sometimes a kids just needs a good thump!
I just met them; they live in the village part of the time
is it her biological child?
and when the kid was here the first time hs said "I'd really like to come here for a meal, lunch or dinner would be fine"
<---Cheers for LBD's opinion
yes, and she is much younger than the husband
are they foreign? i thought french parents were supposed to be so good at discipline
Most kids are not taught manners these days.
she's French; he's English -- very posh
I think there is too much pressure on parents, though. The child must take some accountability also.
Nothing posh about having a bratty kid.
amen!
amen, molly
true, andrew. but they have to be taught that responsibility. not allowed to run roughshod over others.
Seems the parents of the parents of the parents must be better parents to the child learns accountability
so not to
Oh yes, I agree with that. It seems so difficult, though. I like looking after children, but if I had my own I'd find it impossible.
Hi, BR :)

Hi Scrabs
hello all
hi teach
Good day to all. I am watching the Weather Channel -- learning about Isaac.
how is Tucker?
I expressed tons of cheesy material from the abscess last evening--the area is so much smaller. But he is not eating, so when I check on him soon, if he has not eaten I will feed him "Critical Care", a powdered formula to use when rabbits are ill.
poor baby. maybe his mouth hurts.
Yes. Last night I was optimistic that surgery would be unnecessary tomorrow. This morning I am concerned about him not eating. But he is hopping around and was feisty when I pushed the med tablet into his mouth.
hope all will be well.
Yes. I get so anxious when one of my bunnies is not acting right.
Do you have pets?
Hi everyone. Scrabbs, Tucker is doing great with you!
not any more. Had lots when I had kids.
Hi Red
Hi Red. I want Tucker to eat!
After the last one died, I never got another. too tough.
well, give him some time..his lip feels ill
Monkey just found ma5/18.
hmmm........
It is tough, and I miss all of my old bunnies, but I want to give more bunnies a nice life here at Rabbitat.
: )
Red, looks like ISaac will not have a direct hit on you or the Gulf Coast.
*Mental note: Do not eat while reading Babble chat.
it was the cheesy stuff, right/
Sorry. But that abscess material looked just like ricotta cheese.
aahhhhh!!!!!
AAAAHHHH. EEEEW, gross!
I may be off ricotta for a while.
Red, if cultured it would probably grow out Pasteurella

Yes, I held Tucker and stuffed parsley into his mouth but then he started gobbling it up. I hope he decides to eat without my help.
sounds like a good sign Scrabbler...
Annie, tell Bobby to watch the Little League World Series at 3pm on ABC. I watch these boys every summer and am always impressed with their talent.
Yes, I was happy when he readily chewed food that I placed in his mouth.
zero
Not a word but I keep seeing it.
He watched it yesterday...games between Calif and Tenn...another between Japan and Panama, I believe....terrific kids
Yes, very impressive at ages 11 and 12 yrs.
watched the tenn. game, xtra innings then our local station stopped it to show the buffalo bills pre game show.. o i was sooooo mad!
And I taped it so now I know why the baseball game suddenly ended. I read about it in the paper.
would have like to see end, was a great game
Good morning!
Hi Car
Hi car. :)
hi car!
Hello Scrabs, Annie, Ivesy!
I am having a lunch + Scrabble afternoon with 3 friends, right on Lake Erie, so we will walk on the beach and swim too.
Gorgeous! Sounds like a great way to spend the afternoon!
sounds like a fun day, scrabbs
Yep.
We are going to a Summerfest at one of the churches I sing at today. Magician, music, food, etc.
Your boys should enjoy that.
It is at their old preschool, so they have a blast whenever they are there!
And at 70/68 I have had enough of this grid. Not a fun one at all.
anyone have a clue for he 7?
Uh oh....
I agree, scrabbs, have a great day
phone
I haven't gotten that far yet Annie, but I can help you look
he7...he + Gone With The Wind home with an extra vowel in third place
good morning Molly! Great clue! TY!
thanks Molly, I had to actually google the name, but I got the clue...
Hello red!
rather ironic clue given that the word means ancient Greek call girl
hi car.
LOL! good morning shirlockc!
Red, you've never seen Gone With The Wind?
I don't like all these A's today. : (
Wait until you get to the C's
Thanks, Molly
Uh oh...
fo 6/42...more like the comic on the Muppet Show!
fireworks
Stats for the second M word please? I have adding and subtracting.
Congratulations Annie!

ma5/18
Well done Annie
hi dose
Is that enough stats for you Car? : P
Hi Doseffing!
... good morning
Yeah! Love it!
And I got the word, so clearly it is what I need!
Stats in triplicate, got it.
And stats please for the second N from the left as well. I have the French night.
Have a great Sunday everyone, bye dear babblers
Bye Annie! {{hugs}}
... french bllack
no6/21
... sorry ... that one too
I have strenuous objections to that word.
Got it! TY! Yes, it seems like only part of a word really.
phantom: contain
It annoys me when Enable allows poor English. Like "luvs" yesterday or the day before.
... Have you never eaten a napple?
I more sip and I am out of coffee!!!!!!!
napple = ?
... an apple ... a napple
I remembered to do the et babblet!
... I didn't ... again ... ... thanks
Ty shirl! I had not remembered!
car!
Crossy!
it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!
The first video uploaded to YouTube featured co-founder Jawed Karim discussing elephants at the San Diego Zoo.
I hope it was at least interesting!
My eye is incredibly itchy...can anyone recommend a good OTC eyedrop?
visine
... are you sure it's not just an allergy where any antihistamine will do? ...
Actually, that is the worst one!
they have a whole line of qualkity eye drops
really?
i like them
I just took my Zyrtec...lets see if it quiets down.
Yes! My ophthalmologists are always telling their patients to STOP using it and just use artificial tears instead. It tends to dry out the eyes more in the long run.
lolguess i do not know the seamy underword that are eye drops lol
underworld
Aren't all the over the counter eyedrops tetrahydrozoline? More or less.
When I was a teenager, I mistook my nail polish remover bottle for my eye makeup remover bottle. OUCH!
omg, car
That's easy for you to spell Molly!!!! LOL! Pretty much
It pretty much took effect immediately, so I didn't do as much damage as I could have.
Artificial tears are just saline solution.
Yup. And that is what is best for most itchy or irritated eyes.
More proof of the healing powers of salt.
OK. I am off...I have to make pasta salad and go to Wally World. Any need anything?
*anyone
I wish you all a wonderful day! Get out and enjoy it! {{hugs}} to all!
i am still digesting the info from yesterday that antibacterial soaps are bad in many ways..eye drops that dry, soap that makes super bugs in the water supply..almost time to hide in the closet eating tofu and bean sprouts with a nice foil hat
Sometimes the simpler a thing is, the better it really is.
indeed
got a loaf of store brand bread other day,and there was so much yeast in it that it actually slelled like nail polish remover.seriously considering a bread maker
smelled
crossy, you don't need a bread maker
i had to throw it out
been doing my own bread for months now, easiest recipe ever, no-knead bread
works just fine
i would love that recipie shirloc
last time i seriously made bread from scratch was when the mrs was carrying our son still
nice welsh in the grid today
indeed
cr 5/22
~ 6 cups of flour, dash of salt, 1 + 1/4 cup of warm water, 1 tbl yeast
2 rises?
mix all together, dough looks shaggy and wet, let it rise once at RT then you can stick in the frig for > week to season
let it rise again at RT if you do the frig thing, then bake 350 ~ 50 mins <-- depends on pan or if you shape the bread
it's adapted from the NYT no-knead bread recipe, if you google, there's lots of variations
rt?
Room temperature
you just need to practice a bit to get the "right" consistency; RT = room temp
bloom the yeast in the water, i use active dry
so 1 rise only if you do not fridge for week?
How long do you proof the yeast Shirl?
yep, and it does sour out so the longer in the fridge, the more sour-doughy
kk
i just use warm water and then put in yeast in, nothing special
ty shirloc
got it mall
all
easy peasy, i no longer buy bread
thats for 2 loaves?
oops, ~4 cups of flour, not 6 and that would be one loaf
ok,changing that now
if you do 6 cups of flour, you need more water
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/20 09/03/17/no-knead-bread-the-beat-goes- on/
one loaf recipiue is perfect, then i can multiply as needed
lol narrow keys,fat fingers
that's an example and they say do it in a dutch oven, i never do, just plain old loaf pan
good i still have my 2 plain old load pans:)
loaf
if you want a crustier bread, make sure your oven is "wet", you can bake with a pan of water
yup,i remember that trick
or brushing egg white for 'glazed' loaf
I experimented a few times, a bit more flour, a bit more water, oats etc. etc
i do mine italian style,i make a long shallow vertical slit and drizzle butter in it
i've got it done pretty much to a routine now, it's really the shaggy dough thing, you want it to be on the wet side
i preset the oven so it bakes in the AM just before i get up :)
nice;)
lol my oven is one step up from tossing logs in a firebox so no pre-sets for crossy
I thought 6 cups of flour was a lot : D
that was for two loaves :)
There is nothing like waking up to the smell of bread baking.
it's awesome when the bread is steamy hot :)
mmmmmmm
*i'm having a Martha Stewart moment*
better than bacon:))..gasp!! what did i say?!
thanks for the recipe Shirl ...
When you walk in the kitchen, first thing in the morning, and you smell coffee brewing and bread baking, it's a great day.
blasphemy crossy
lol@ martha moment..feel like doing some time ru? lol
bacon is the best! freshly baked bread is high on the list but then so is chocolate
let me know how your bread baking goes crossy
hello everyone :)
Ru, if it's too homestyle here for you at the moment, you can always scroll back to Scrabs description of what she squeezed out of her rabbit's abscess last night.
I was thinking there are better things to wake up to than baked bread...
Of course you were, gutter mind : P
:D
lol ruru
blue heron.. the recipe is in my profile
I had crab salad (no bacon) on a croissant for lunch last week. It was wonderful.
that sounds good
never thought of a croissant
We love our crabs here in Maryland. : D
they are the blue ones yes?
breakfast in France - pain au chocolat and coffee
cyber, that's the best!
ta4 tatin is the best in france
it's the butter, another B that's soooo necessary for baking
Yes, blue crabs. There is a place in Baltimore that makes their crab cakes with 6.5 ounces of crab per crab cake. They are a little bit of Heaven.
I love crab cakes
haven't had that, ruru - what is it?
See Peri's profile for a good pain au chocolat recipe.
carmelized apple tarts nan.. a little piece of heaven
sounds yummy -- like the carmelized onion tarts too!
I make those with gruyere cheese.. yummy
Those carmelized apple tarts are amazing.
especially right out of the oven in France.. at a bakery in paris
omg
hi all. clue for the 8 please.
I made a nice dinner last night
what did you have?
grilled lamb loin chops with crispy polenta/garlic fries and corn salsa
the salsa had just a little too much heat.. for mrs ru
<---Peasant. Never been to France.
I've only been once Molly
o, molly, you really should go at least once
IT's a beautiful place
but i've been to Arizona...
love France - one of my favourite travel destinations
Dinner sounds delicious, Ru.
simple but delish molls
I was thinking 3 Dog Night too, TO. : )
aren't they two dog night now?
And it didn't take you two paragraphs to describe it. : D
ouch
*drooling fo r maryland crabcakes*
that sounds perfect today crab cakes
not if they are defiled with bacon.
cr 5/22, please? -- can't monkey the correct combo
it's scottish all consonants nan
As far as I know, Negron, Wells and Hutton are all still among the living.
sounds like what kids do they get larger
TO, if you are ever in Baltimore, Faidley's has the best crab cakes ever.
there must be at least one vowel?
they are in the market, no? I swear by Edgewater in Edgewater.
Yep, Lexington Market.
No Nan, it's a Welsh word.
oh - nm - got it - was trying to use the z
ty molly - was just thinking it looks more welsh than scottish
I'm back to that stupid muppet bear -- still can't find it
when is crab season?
fo 6 is the muppet bear isn't it?
Yes, fo6 is more of him
ty -- got it -- the more of, helped
Crab season is April 1st to December 15th technically (for actual crabbing) but you won't find live crabs around until Memorial Day and not after Labor Day.
Sometimes the first three weeks of September, depending on how good the crabs were that particular season.
i'd better hurry then. i thought in jersey they run august and sept.
he 7, please?

YAY nan and see you next time!
hey all
Hello all---at least (((stid)))
hey jilly -- my connection is dodgy today
down to 33 and I only JUST realized that unlike yesterday's 4 S grid this grid has NO S tile. *sigh* I am not exactly in my observant mode right now.
Me either, actually a little daunting as I work towards nbt...guess I'm getting paid back for my comment on the grid a few days ago as being tedious with all the er, est, s and ed
well, there is grid today if needed, which is nice.
Yep, looked yesterday and decided NOT to do grid without lickety...
I am so sad, a lumber mill out on the coast was destroyed by fire yesterday/last night. That county relied on the mill so heavily for employment. This is a huge loss.
Seems like this year has been full of such hardship everywhere...
not for the trees stid
Yes, ruru -- for the trees as well. This mill used farmed timber, no worse than harvesting corn, just a longer growing season.
well, down to 19 (found 30 since I came back in) back later -- running the kid into town.
Well, living in an area that was economically devasted by the decline of the lumbar industry; I have to make the point that there IS such a thing as sustainable forestry....
And with that plus nbt and nbs...also off for productive work...
hi all
nbt? nbs?
no blank tiles, deutsch, means she's got a word from each starting letter in the grid
nbs = no blank stats, means she has a word of each length.
ahhh, thank you, jes. I've been away too long.
welcome, of course :)
how's you're weekend going?
It's raining here. Finally. I'd forgotten what afternoon rain smelled like.
and you? Love your kitty. Wish I could help. I have two rescues of my own.
going pretty well. just heard that a dog i've been really worried about and working on for over a week is feeling better this morning, so that's good
i wish i could find him a home... not sure how long it's even nice to him to keep him kenneled, since i can't see him living indefinitely at the clinic.
Glad to hear dog is better. Hope someone realizes a dog is missing from his or her life.
no, the dog has a home, sorry, i switched topics with statements - the cat is who needs a home
the dog is a patient we've been working on, who is in liver failure of unknown cause :(
Glad the dog is taking a better turn to recovery. Now for the cat -- everyone should have a cat. Hope the little one finds a caring home.
me too. she's such a sweet dog, everybody at the clinic loves her. The trouble I'm running into with the cat is that everybody who'd be willng to take on a diabetic already has cats, and he doesn't get along well with other cats.
That's a toughie. The cat needs a seasoned owner, but seasoned owners usually have at least one cat already. Hmmm. A real puzzler.
help with the far right A please?
To take in a seam
Nope. To warn someone.
indeed. so far, no takers. And he's stubborn... I had him at my place for a month and he would not give up on hating the other cats, nor would he just find an area of the house to avoid the other cats.
thanlks
thanks
Stubborn, I can relate. Poor little guy.
bbl
hi all
Hi Science
Hi Geek
and All
small, but tough grid
Yup!
Big rain here. All the trees and plants are happy. : )
good!
really! not a drop up here.
I just don't see the words today
I don't mind rain on a Sunday afternoon. I'm usually not going anywhere, so it can rain all it wants as long as I don't have to drive in it.
it's not easy, for sure.
kind of like rain, unless it goes on for days.
stats for the 8?
no got. sorry
no8/65

Of course, there is no definition for ma5, so feel free to make up your own.

Ma5/18 I'm Amaved?
according to my scrabble dictionary the ma5 is a songbird
bbl
lol Tor
... somebody with a really heavy accent would go to the ma5s on Friday night with their best friend
: )
A ma5 is a ma5 (one who is knowledgeable or experienced) in training. : )
... Isn't that a "mavin" ... which isn't the word hear
... or is this just another form of it?
nbt
... and meant to say here
Yes and I said that an ma5 (the word here) is an ma5 (the word that is not here) in training.
Which was meant to be a joke, but lead balloons are flying out the window.
... good to know ... thanks
no kidding?
... and done ... ... may I offer a clue for anyone? ...
good going Dose!
I'm good for now. ty
... then I'm off ... 'til tomorrow ... bye ...

hey jes and Min!
YAY MMin!!!!
sorry about the typos. I am really tired.
How was the meetup? What did you do & who was there?
jes, Matthew's turtle died on Friday -- kid made a mistake and the turtle didn't survive. I HATE when stuff like that happens, and I am having trouble sleeping. What do you do to get back to your center when accidents happen to animals?
oh know, what happened?
It was lovely, Min! We had me, Mother, Bugs (the host), Jillibus, hego and uusue. Also hego's and Bugs' husbands. It was lovely.
Oh (((stiddy)))
gads, i can't even spell "no". sorry
He didn't follow directions to partially drain the tank, refill with hose water (we are on a well, the water is safe). He drained it completely and filled it with hot tap water. From the hottest tap in the house. I am really really upset. By the time I got home less than fifteen minutes later, there was no rescue possible.
We mostly talked at the meetup -- of course! and we ate lovely food.
I am so envious of those who can attend babble meetups
several of us went fossil hunting on Sunday while the others went to the Filberg gardens in Comox.
sprinkler change...bbs
ah no :( poor turtle
On Saturday... we mostly just hung out and talked. It was PERFECT.
how old is matthew?
Yes. Hence I am not sleeping well or thinking much. OR sleeping much or thinking well. Or something. The kid is even worse off, of course -- but getting good support from the people he lives with and his friends.
My internet is being finicky again so I am going to go.
and it is now time for crossy,s quote of the day!!!
(((Min))) have a lovely rest of your day!
Glad you had fun stidmama.I will return internet willing.

we gave it a 7 out of ten based totally on the strength of the 2 actors,it is aimed directly at the age 50-65 marrieds group. was a good flick but wouldn not go out of the way to hunt down a dvd for the home collection
It seems to be drifting west, ti appears to be hitting land up near Louisiana,
back in a few..poink!
There must be a lot of different models out. I'm looking at one now that says it will move up the Florida coast Monday and Tuesday and hit Louisiana on Wednesday.
latest "model" I've seen puts us (me & fam) cen`:o)tral for the eye landing... *sigh* here we go again.
sorry, central
It is creating some rain and wind in Florida, but so far for most of us, in this area, (Central Fla), we are just getting rain and wind, like a regular tropical summer storm.
amelu, I hope you don't have problems...
yep, red, you should be fine.
Yes, I am a bit disappointed as I actually prepared....
but I know its better this way.
Nah. Friends may have issues but I think we're far enough from the coast (approx 20 miles) to not suffer much. not leaving, for sure.
but it is a big rain producer
friends who are south of I-10 are welcome to my hill, LOL (of course they know that already)
we're only a couple of miles from the Pascagoula rivers but far enough for it not to impact us...
I am learning not to get too excited about the prediction until it tightens up. Initially they said ti would hit us directly...
s'all good on our projected front.
I hope it does not give a problem for New orleans again...
I know! I kept shaking my head at the W/C saying "really? like you have a clue this far out?" LOL!
I got reather excited, initially it looked like a little cat one that owuld run over us quickly....and NOW.
Shouldn't. I guess I should look again at the w/c before I say that but last I saw they said it'd be cat 2 tops... *shrug* still gotta work tomorrow.
I just can't keep that on 24/7 for 5 days if there's a threat out there...
Rush Limbaugh actually said that the National Weather Service is "Obama's Government Agency" and predicted it would hit Florida in order to disrupt the Republicans
LOL!
stats for the 8?
I hate freaking election years.
no 8/65
We're voting absentee and then leaving the country in October. Can't say I'll mind.
clue please for cr 5/22 ?
welsh,no vowels
no vowels.
no why the4 hell should we know that and not every oether welch word............... the site master is nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
or maybe i am just irritated more than usual today..........................
actually i used that word at a Celtic Festival today. Just to show off.
spoken pheonetically, that word must sound like a train wreck lol
Welsh is always here.
yup.the words are so interesting

there is
lickety is up
there is indeed...going there.
back to find my last 8
red, how is the weather where you are?
hello everyone!
Go SMom Go!!!
Cos, question. Why is Colorado always a swing State?
western slope and el paso very republican
denver and others democratic.. both equal in numbers
and western slope has large mormon region.. being so close to utah
Must be the same answer for Nevada. Which also seems to always be a swing State. Ah well, it makes things interesting.
without reno and las vegas nevada would be solid red
same for illinois and chicago. kinda interesting
Well, with Obama running, Illinois isn't a swinger this time around.
Hi, everyone. don't mean to sound stupid, but I am new to this. does no8,65 mean that the word is an 8 loetter word with 65 points?
Hi Josie. Welcome. Yes, that's right.
And it doesn't sound stupid at all. It takes a while to figure things out here.
Thank you, Molly. another stupid question...how can it be worth 65 points?
I think you add up the total points and multiply it by three for an eight letter word.
Ahhhhhh! Thank you so much!!
Nope, times 5. See the HELP section for points value.
4 x 1, 5 x 2, 6 x 3, 7 x 4, 8 x 5 i thought? or am i wrong?
ah okk yeah thought so
may i please have a clue for the 2nd av5?
Thank you, everyone!
What you do to a plane, Cos.
Ugh, that is the 6

It is super smokey here...yuck...
Fires?
Coming over from Idaho and Washington, there's a small one 20 miles south...kept hearing the fire alarm (volunteer force here) but nothing mentioned on the news
Would love to see a nice rain come thru. Cannot see any of the mountains that surround us :(
Shame to have that kind of view and not be able to see it.
LOL...it'd be nice to breath too...teehee
How are you Molly?
Jill-I guess there's a new fire up Tin Cup. Oh, you just mentioned that one. It looks like it's going to rain soon anyway.
Not bad. My son is getting ready to start his last year of vocational school. Big changes for him next year.
(hi)
Hi Harp

Only slight chance of rain according to forecast..
Good evening Babbleland

Yay West! You beat the 61 second rule. (In which Cos asks for a clue and then finds it himself in 61 seconds) : D

Thankslooking...is that like when you're on a diet on Thanksgiving and all you can do is look at the food? : P
pretty much :)
nobody diets on Thanksgiving
it's against the law
i wonder what richard simmons' thanksgiving looks like
he makes the turkey do jumping jacks
he likes to stuff the turkey actually.
<---chat killer.. from the gutter...
lovely visual lol
I love the Geico commercial where the little Gekko runs from Richard Simmons like he's just seen a crazy person.
I haven't seen that one yet..Geico has some really great ones
Clue for the he7 for fireworks, please
he + crown mixed up
wow thanks ruru
ty ruru. That is one mixed up word.
And fireworks.
Damn. Off by 20 minutes.
Yay wht !!
You're slipping Molly.
Now I'll have to go into apologist mode.
I know that one
got my last f word..more like a muppet
Don't need to apologize to me.
The Last F Word. Sounds like a song from Woodstock.
ah yes 1969 was a very good year
It was a joke Wht. Ru and I got lectured the other day.
it was a scathing lecture too ... sort of
: D
:)
by a saint no less
a saint and her minion
69 was a crappy year in wine
Morning all
not so hot for Mary Jo either
hey girlie
morning girlie
Hi girlie!
and jilly
Okay Molly and Ru...need more details on your lecture...LOL
Hi west
Of course the only wine I was drinking in 69 was Boone's Farm.
Jilly, suffice it to say that someone who lectures "if you don't like what's in chat, turn it off" should take their own advice. Not bash other posters.
Ouch....glad I missed that one!
It's a wonder we are not all walking formaldehyde factories due to Boone's Farm consumption.
march 69 was good for boone's farm wht
Mine was Annie Green Springs....*shudders*
annie green springs sounds like a dr seuss book
I think I puked up something like green eggs...
I don't like beer and didn't start drinking wine until a few years ago..just give me Jack and water
Give me a G&T any day!
and a good Manhattan
*Pours a Jack and water for West*
I can't drink manhattans
much obliged
Manhattans are usually made with Rye, which I find icky.
And I don't like bitters or vermouth either, so it's not my drink of choice.
my parents used to drink manhattans by the pitcher.. I can't touch them
I know someone who has the same problem with Port wine, for the same reason.
And I quote..."when you find an empty of Port hidden in your toy box, it kind of puts you off the stuff."
Not a great childhood memory...so sad...
I quote: "when mommy and daddy drink a whole pitcher of manhattans... we're not having dinner tonight:
Sorry ruru..
it's fine now jilly.. i'm past it.. it's just a memory
It's the echoes of that stuff that get you sometimes, if you let them.
I often wonder if the people who spout off about family values have ever looked at actual families.
I doubt some of them do, Wht. Speaking of which, I just read that Sanders is engaged to his Argentinian mistress.
Oops, Sanford.
Making an honest woman of her, is he.
Or did he just want to go hiking again.
That was such a spin debacle. He's missing...no wait...he's hiking the Appalachian trail...no wait...he's in Argentina with his girlfriend.
that's the first thing I think of when I see a picture of her.. going for a nice hike
Well, hubby coming home tomorrow, gotta pick up the house....y'all hagn!
night jillly
good night Jilly, and a better tomorrow.
hey all, sweet dreams jilly
cr 6 anyone?
like a wood box (first four of previous word) + not off
and hello cos!
tyvm
hi sorry i fell asleep last night didnt finish ur email. will do so in a bit :)
how about the last cr5?
hope your weekend has gone well cos -- we FINALLY washed the outside of the house, pruned the lilac and the red currant on the front of the house, picked the unknown squash, got random garbage (wasn't garbage when we put it there but four years further on...) moved away from the house to the garbage bins...
Last cr5 is a Welsh word. No vowels.
it's the welsh lute -- cr + 5 pt tile (a vowel in welsh) + **e end.
we cleaned the patio this summer for the first time in 3 eyars.. what we saw under the table was .. alive and nasty
tyvm!
brb ryan wants to check hs email
ick on the yuck and "well done" on the cleaning!
Well good night Babblers. Happy Babbling.
'Night Wht
howdee ladies n gents
Hi Gwen
ewwww cosdem!
and hi molly!
and phantom clerihew
Ha! I actually know that poetry : D
sorry, looks like i killed the chat LOL
any clue for any word from the bottom left A?
What you do to a plane
um, bisect?
oh, DUH, got it, TY
bisect, honestly!
(I love you guys....)
i like tangents too LOL
You're the kind of folks who would appreciate a little practical joke I played today.
(what joke, I hear you cry....)
oh do tell
Oh good lord. *Mental note: Use AIRplane next time.
My husband took a cake to a bachelor party. I put a pair of wire strippers inside the cake.
Ha!
Oh Harp, you sarcastic woman you. : D
so you will never see the result of your joke on the faces of your victims! (unless there's a camera phone handy)
Actually it was a bunch of bike mechanics who reportedly thought it was hysterical
These days, there is always a camera phone ready. Ask Prince William.
EX-cellent!
If I'd thought of it earlier I would have put a little Barbie Doll bikini on it.
I mean Prince Harry.
(i am ignoring the prince harry story. puh-lease)
Actually I'm pretty sure Prince William knows what a camera phone is, too!
really .. speaking of the royal jewels
ar ar ar
:D
My biggest laugh is at the bumbling British security detail.
they were kind of boobs huh molly
hey, we all have bumbling security peeps. but i didn't say that!
ten blue boobies on a roundabout . . .
It gives me an even deeper appreciation of our Secret Service.
yeah.. they have better experience with hookers
That may well be, but we don't get the kind of pictures in the paper that we just saw of The Royal Boy.
oh, dear, i wan't gonna mention that, LOL
hi6?
hi6, adjective, taking a break from work
hm
thank got iit
just to point out, prince harry was *in* a hotel room, and the secret service was *in* a country (or city?) where prositution was perfectly legal. so there
not country ... city yeah
Okey dokey. Then bring on the naked pictures of The Royal Boy. It's all good.
wh-wh-what? did I miss something good?
i hope if i'm ever naked in my own house (or my own hotel room) it's not a big scandal -- then again . . .
the only reason its scandal is he;s royalty
Seriously? An average person compared to a member of the royal family?
hi6, not getting it, another clue pls
pretty tame if you remove the royal family from the pic, yes?
top row done, weeeeee
Well yeah, but you can't because he is a member of the royal family.
hig, rhymes with fa5 meaning deadly
hi6 i mean, not hig
ty ty ty
how about az5
and ty for the fa
i can so. celebrities and royals are no more or less perfect than the rest of us. i mean, did he kill someone? anything serious like that? nope
no8 please?
az5, rhymes with little butterfly-like bug
well BDG.. it's not becoming of a royal heir to act out like this
no8, verb, to have a document signed by a an official who attests your signature
at least he didn't have a na4 tattoo on his ass
ah thanks.. forgot the alt spelling
i didn't say it was "becoming" -- it's not. but is it a big deal for anyone but him? (and his immediate family and friends) nope.
now, our former president started two illegal wars and killed countless thousands of innocent people. compared to, oh my god, prince harry was naked in his own hotel room
Okay, I see where this is going. I'm done.
mather
mather
kermit, wrong box!
Welcome to the grid kermiteer...don't worry, we've all done that!!
uh, dear, did i miss a celebrity scandal with a na4 tattoo on someone's ass? LOL
kermiteer, you must be steve whitmire, am i right? 8-)

princess crown, like the kind you get for Miss America
oh haha i am cl***ly brain dead
dictionary says, an educated female prostitute, or courtesan, Greek
found another word. do i stop with 42?
why not? 42 is the answer to everything...
is there a clue list?
maybe i can make it to 42
LIckety is up
thanks, jilly, going to lickety then
nbt
Yay jmc!!
Oh and uusue...I thought the answer to everything was 3.14159265
that too :-). 42 is from the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy.
life, the universe, and everything!
when i work at the information desk at the annual quaker retreat invariably some smart ass asks what is the meaning of life and we all answer 42.
Been meaning to read that one...the rest of the family has....
the answer to everything is your transportation to the mental hospital is on the way ...
haha i hope not BR
could anyone spare a clue for the cr 5/22? P&TY
LOL...that sounds better than dealing with a Monday...
it is Welsh and has no vowels, hokie
TY sue
well that's just messed up. thx
i need more myself
nm found it
that's why the rhyme says a e i o u and sometimes y and w
I don't remember the sometimes w part.
that is the way i learned it
fozier
ty hokie
so I suppose we have the sometimes vowel and the hardly-ever vowel...
oops, I did it again
I'm going to remember that one from now on....
mine says ... a e i o u, unless incorrect
the w is what makes it rhyme
Have that one hokie...lo
*lol
Resistentialism -- ''seemingly spiteful behavior manifested by inanimate objects.''
For example, objects that cause problems (like lost keys or a fleeing bouncy ball) exhibit a high degree of malice toward humans and lend support to resistentialist beliefs.
Sounds republican....
Did you hear about the professor that got in a horrible wreck? He was grading papers on a curve.
