ty ty ty for your patience grannyrose, finally got it
been hard at it sewing my curtains, sometimes I wish I weren't such a perfectionist when it comes to sewing
well done, flosey, thick he4 and all.
whew, that was a doozie
oh, rbud, still at them, dear?
yep, lots of pressing and hemming and such, and lots of breaks, lol - life must go on
well DH and i have had a lovely day. lunch at a nearby cafe which serves delicious food and the best iced coffee.
lovely rose
th4 we meandered through the hills, driving along roads we have never travelled on, seen things/places we have never seen.
sounds delightful! I think hubs and I are overdue for a meal out, we try to do it at least once a month.
even called in at a camp DH used to visit with his church youth group. allowed him to reminisce about his younger days. was great.
i try to do this at least once a fortnight with him. it breaks him out of the rut of 24/7 care for mother mac, and lately, me.
so, rbud. just how many rooms are you refurbishing with new curtains?
ok, bedtime, head is shutting down, goodnight rose and rbud
nite flos
63 to go
goodnight dart
night, flosey. sleep well, hun. hope you have a lovely day tomorrow
ty rose
sorry, wandered off to the kitchen - just the new bedroom is all I'm working on, but I'm slow... my shoulder's been really bothering me, which seems aggravated by sewing and sitting at the computer, too, darnit.
I interfaced the curtains, and lined them, and now it's hemming time - which I have to do by hand.
oops, by ha4, I mean, lol
3 windows, 3 sets of curtains
good grief, rbud, that's an awful lot of curtains. but i bet your home will look fantastic by the time you have finished.
well, have one window done and hanging, they look great so far, which is encouraging.
got risers for the bed (those funny things that go under it to make it taller?) so now I also have to lengthen the bedskirt - but that should be a breeze after all the rest of this, lol
i'm gonna cheat this time when it comes to new curtains. lol, DH cannot understand why i want top of window to floor curtains. he sees it as a waste of effort. i see it as elegant, and makes the room appear larger.
I like that look myself.
good morning kiddoes :)
{{spritey}}} where you bin, hun? missed you.

A bear taking a dump asked a rabbit "Does shit stick to your fur as a habit?" "Of course not," said the hare, "It's really quite rare!" So the bear wiped his ass with the rabbit.
oh poop, crossy
:)
the first and last lines have to have different endings....
there was a young fellow named crossy
now that was sordid!
who tended, at times, to be bossy
i know, that one was not quite right
lol, crossy. have heard it before but it still makes me giggle.
while crossing the sea, between you and me, the ocean made his tummy quite tossy
ok,this one is a tad cleaner and correct.will make up for last one...
To his friend, Ned said, rather blue, "My wife Edith just told me we're through, For she says I'm too fat." And his friend told him that, "You can't have your cake and Edith, too."

A lovely young woman named Rose
Had problems in touching her toes
The doc changed her knew, and it seems now to me, she strews flowers wherever she goes
knee**
very nice! Change flowers in roses and you have made it into a circle!
ROFL, ruby!!! you rock!
that was my first thought, but it was too easy
I know lots of limericks but all in dutch :(
a much older fellow named Burt
uh-oh, here it comes...
had words that came out in a blurt
holding breath....
when trying to slow down, his daughter would frown, and would end up with being quite hurt
here is a very interesting one(not mine) that shows great creativity....
There's a place in Cape Cod, Massachusetts Where the women have not one but two sets Of boobs, but no cracks To accomp'ny those racks, So the men have perpetual blue sets.
awww :(
awww, poor daughter.
so things aren't easy, ruby?
CROSSY!!!! but i love it!!
no, it's OK, I'm just tired
my mil has same issue rub.she is so used to a calm quiet empty nest and family visits rattle her quite badly
nbt nbs :)

lol that is sad
good job sarah, and hello
Just one from me: Archimedes, the well known truth-seeker, Jumping out of his bath, cried, "Eureka!" He ran half a mile, Wearing only a smile, And became the very first streaker

Have had a bad cough made worse by my asthma but is slowly getting better
dh is back with groceries s

ahh! asthma such a curse...hang in there sweetie, and get better.
ah good. Tell him hi from me, please? And a big hug.
mats
after flip ruby.
sorry
bad time for asthma here, everything is shedding, pollinating or going to seed.take me 3 hours to clear it all in the morning
np's CL. we all do it, at one time or another
yuck, crossy. can imagine. spring has started in earnest here. so DH is feeling the effects.
mt astma was never very bad until I had a blood clot in my lung 4 years ago left my asthma 50 times worse than it was
indeed.and to think i quit the smokes ten years ago to sound this good:((
ouch crafty lady
i sympathise, crossy. and CL? what rotten luck.
a clot in my fil lungs was the start of his health decline.when they went in to get it(along with a small tumour) he had a stroke on the operating table, then they has to go in again to fix some stitches
oh I like the biggies!
no was not a good time i went in hospital on the sunday and my mum passed away on the tuesday was just out of hospital in time to go to her funeral
:(((
oh craft, how awful :(
a small part of me will always blame myself if I had not got ill would she still be here
awww, CL. that has to be the most rotten timing i have ever heard of.
stupid i know
love you mum and you was not to blame xxxxx
no that is not stupid. That is human :( We rather blame ourselves than that we feel powerless.
love you as well i know i am not but there will always be this small doubt
not stupid, craftylady. you couldn't change the outcome, so you blame yourself. such a human response. {{{hugs}}}
thanks everyone don't know whats up with me today never talked so much on here and about personal things
i was actually there in the room as my father died....to this day i wonder what i could have changed to stop him from dying.
it is one of the things Babble chat is made for, craftylady. Don't worry about it. We are here to let you know we care.
remember the blessings.my mother passed in 91(from cancer)far from her family after an early divorce in 73 and only one was able to go to the funeral.so cherish the times you had together and remember the happy times and hold them in your heart
I found my dad went to his flat before work and found him lying acroos the bed
rose, how awful... nothing, ofcourse. But I understand the feeling.
staid
sorry again
i mean, i am a registered nurse, capable of handling the most critical of situations which threaten human life....and i couldn't stop my own father from dying.
that must have been tough, craft
see told you I am not use to talking
something I think I will never get over still have nightmares about it
sweet rose... because it was, alas, his time to go. Even nurses aren't omnipotent...
morning all. Often it is as if the person dying wants to let go, wants us to go and get on with life, they've had enough and want to go but we don't or try not to let them go.
craftylady, it is wonderful for you to share...and i still have dreams about my father dying.
I can imagine, that is stuff for nightmares. Please keep telling yourself you are absolutely blameless. In your mind you know. Convincing your feelings is hard though :(
keep those who have gone in your daily thoughts, try not to make shrines, and laugh for them at your own antics.
thanx scouser and spritey. it's still tough. accepting, i mean.
but I was also pleased with how I coped did not go to pieces until my sisters arrived dealt with calling 911 etc by myself
hi scouser, yes, that was with my grandma. We kept constant watch, she wasn't alone for a second. For days and nights, just never. And then the nurse kicked us out, told us she wanted to wash her, and my grandma died right then.
I have a note on my wall here: "Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused." someone on here said it many moons ago.
good for you, craft! Yes, that is great. You did well. And nothing you could have done would have made a difference in his dieing.
*hugs rose* I bet it is. Tough battle.
good one, scouser
hugs for crafty lady.
too
* group hugs * thanx all of you
thankyou
I don't know craftlady that well yet... but yes, if I am allowed: *hug* for craftlady too.
oh, believe me...craftylady is very huggable.
meanwhile, lets all have a go at this ****** grid for some self-uplift. I am floundering already with 136 left.
a big *hug* for you too then, craftlady!
thankyou sprite i dont think anyone knows me that well on here I only usely talk to my daughter and rose
I'm not doing to bad have 108 left nbt nbs
it isn't that bad, actually. You will probably find a second wind very soon.
well it is good to get to know you better, craft. Am happy to 'meet' more of you :)
and you to sprite will try to join in more
i have 112 left keep putting ones in i have now lol
:)
hey well done craftylady . Any clues for the bottom F please since it wont take modern-speak for photo
you are doing well sarah who is off sick today
scouser: think warm wind
amie had high tem and pale today :(
something that swimms in water
ah I just got the weather-type word I can't say got the wind, can I?
the swimmer comes off the other f
sorry
sure you can. The wind comes in two spellings.
no prob
and the last one is enemies
enemy
aha Germanic thoroughness? or is it Swiss?
thanks
the wind is swiss, I think. But the spelling is german, grin.
see - expanding the vocab every day!
I lurv this game
same here. I still learn a new word every day and I have been playing for years!
Does anyone know how we can get Enable updated? there are perfectly respectable words like "henge" that it rejects (or did the last time it was (not) in the grid.)
we can't, scouser. Babble simply uses a rather old version of Enable. Only drG could change that. Personally I hope he won't, though. I enjoy the old words :D
Oh yes I just want some stuff added, keep the previous lists too, so I am not yelling at this inanimate(?) object and shouting "it IS a word".
lol yes that would be great! A couple of words added... like internet, for instance.
Just looked at my window-sill and an orchid has opened up five great spiky purply-blotchy petals with a large white "lip" (except on one of them that is at the top so its not fussy) and a small curled over bit in the middle that from underneath looks like an insect covered in pollen. Weird.
scouser, imagine, my orchids are flowering too. have a lovely pink one with a burgundy throat, and a creamy one with burgundy throat, both flowering.
sounds lovely
Last year one flowered from Christmas through to July, one of the plainer ones with purply veins on a creamy background. Just went on and on.
I have black thumbs, alas
They seem to survive the ill-treatment here quite well.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
hi
wasup
hey guys wasup
talk to me
I command it
any of the limerick folk still here? I thought of another one
Hi ruby
hello scrabs
stole a moment this AM for 74 words but I feel like I'm drowning
I have found 128 but am struggling now
we were trading limericks - theirs were smutty, mine were originals
and not smutty....lol
It's easy for people to create naughty ones
I was just using people's names
That's because you have class, Ruby. : )
now I need to do one for molly
I met a young woman named Molly, So pretty we all said Oh Golly, as smart as a whip, For sure worth the trip, Even by bus and by trolley
Gotta get ready for work. Bye kids.
: D
bye scrabs
sligthly out of rhythm in the last line, but very charming and original, ruby
Have a good day Scrabs.
hi scrabs and bye
and hi molly
ty shallow; I did it fast
i know that youre good - ive seen the other ones
there was an old lady named Nancy, Who lived in the outskirts of Annecy, Not smart as a whip, But well worth the trip, And some even thought pretty fancy
(that's mispronouncing Annecy, but close enough for jazz!)
mine don't scan as well as the dirty ones
Hello all
hehe
hi smores
hi smores (and dont forget to save;) )
:) I wont - thanks for the reminder
actually, that's not true, Annecy is pronounced just like Nancy...
hi buggie -- some do, some don't
hello Yolanda - I am speaking to you as commanded
do you know Annecy, Buggie?
never been there, no
just got a few minutes before getting my daughter off to school
I'm from the west
"Venice of the North"
you have too many big citys in that corner of the country, you should share them out a bit ;o)
we're about half way between Geneva and Lyon but the rest is pretty dinky
I've been to Lyon twice, but it's a hell of a trip if you're not flying
phantom: ma6 + he4
I really wish they'd put some proper trains in between east and west
where are you buggie?, just now noticed your flag is loke mine
Poitiers
like even*
almost married a man from there 100 yrs ago
Poitiers is beautiful!
just kidding
I had better be careful what I say; he might be your best friend.....
Poitiers is a mess, they've made the pedestrian are bigger (good), but changed half the streets, anyone visiting gets lost, and they've redone all the paving, so now you can't walk around town without sunglasses because of the glare...
the old heart with its blackish stones was wonderful. My friend taught at the university
but he lived in a new high-rise on the periphery
oh don't know anybody in any of those buildings :)
they haven't touched the cobbled area by the main church, but the other main square was completely ripped up, including the trees and everything
are you French?
hard question to answer, but officially no, nobody in my family has ever worked up the courage to get the paperwork sorted out...
I once went to a 14 juillet fete in a grand place I think in front of the Hotal de Ville
hotel*
yeah, it's the hotel de ville square that's been completely ripped up
smores are you still there?
well when you return heres your limerick
the babbler known widely as smores --- had sevens, sixes and fours --- spelled out to to the letter --- she left (should know better) --- returning, she missed all her scores
I still have photos of the green space down from the city wals
brava shallow!
;)
(brav-O)
didn't know if you were male or female haha
at least french covers that - if you don't know, then you use the masculin. Just like a single man in a million makes the whole lot male ^^
nice
very nice to meet you buggie but it's time for the Herald Tribune
have fun :)
Morning for a moment to all who may be here.
afternoon :
:) Looking forward to my afternoon.
:)
I got 112 easily, but the last 70 or so are now kindof not there!
I'm struggling with 85 left
at least I've already got the 10 and three of the 8s
I dont have the ten, have 2 8's... but thats nice, I have barely had any time to play lately.
the 10 is very easy to get
I shall eventually find it. Is it a plural?
hi and puzzling at the last 21
no past tense
Ahhh, thanks shallow.
do you want a very shallow hint on the last 8, buggie?
sure :)
its a compound
when you need more, just say so
yes please -- have no 8's :-)
hrm, thanks, i'll keep that in mind
hi une.
oh, found it
hey, red :-)
hi une
hey, shallow :-)
once you get the first, the rest comes quite sm-----ly
hmmm found sm5 and 7 . . .
youll find the rest then too, theyre just along there
Ok, I must be off, it is flu vaccine season, and I must go and find about 200 more people in the hospital to instill it into. Yay.
aaahhh got it -- thanks!
bye red, hand
Good morning!
hi car
Hi Shallow One!
what does the 10 begin with?
I have 3 of 4 8's...2 that begin with sm and one that begins with so
Hi LisaG! I just started, so I only have the sm 8.
ha ha lol...jsut got the 4th sm8
there are 3 sm8's and they are all pretty much the same with a different ending
so is a compound word
i just started too about half hour or so ago
im not even halfway yet
thanks for that 3rd sm8... wouldn't have thought to plural like that
tx for the so8 :-)
:) anyone know how teh 10 starts?
now have so8 and sm8 x 2 . . .
x 3!!
Hi Une!!!
howdy, car :-)
all of the sm8's are the same with a different last letter
the 10 extends from the sm8
PT one of the sm8s
Got them all!
what is the so8?
Got it! What a silly word.
not hard + top of your body
so8 is a compound word
ha! got the 10 :)
ha! that is a funny word!
I can only think of inappropriate ways that the so compound word can be used~
tsk tsk tsk ; )
Oh my Lisa!!!!!
Good for you!!!!
lol...
appropriateness is all a matter of perspective, i think ;)
NBT and NBS!
good grief, the 10 is wacko! LOL
congrats
lower i?
Lots of little Scottish words today!
io 4
io4/4
ah yes, ty
Help with the lower F please? I only have fo 4 from there.
fo5/18
fo 4/7 to be exact..enemies
I have one fo 5/18 from the other F. Is there another from the lower one?
fo5/18 is a wind/weather situation in the mountains, fo4/8 a variant spelling
yes

hi all
hi peri
found so8 and sm6/8. help with other sm8's pls
All the sm8 start as the sm6.
ok
hi bzz
As does the sh10.
Hey, shallow one.
is there only one sm6?
yes
there is no sh10.... it is sm10
ok, I don't see the other 8's will keep looking
Use common suffixes, peri
I just monkeyed another sm8
smoosh: v. to squash or mash, as in "he smooshed the bug before it got into the potato salad"
and found the sm10 too
that is smushed ; )
hah
regional spelling differences
Peri, I saw a sneak preview of Chicago Fire. It's good.
morning all!
ok, Molls, will check it out
Morning, sue.
and I was wondering about the absence of smoosh as well :-)
hi bea!
hi uu, love the aurora
Hi Uusue - smoosh is in there, but just as slang; not sure how much "usage" it takes to make slang a "legitimate" word
hi shallow and jwr!
yes, I had a good time finding weird and lengthy sm words
I have 3 sm8 and one sm10, what a good start
hello everyone
that's one of the perks of babbling
Hey, annie
so 8/65 is the other 8, Annie. Good morning to all of you
Hi Bea and jwr
hi annie
((Mom)) How nice to see you
hi mom and annie!
Hi Shallow
and uu
hi Annie, Shallow, Mom and Bzz and whoever else is out and about
(((Annie))) thank you, so good to see you also
Hello uusue
hello jwr
now must go take dog for short walk, feed dog and cats, shower, dress, get breakfast, take dog for long walk, and get to work! bbl!
back to the esses, they're fun today
uusue ... get to work? I thought you retired
I did, mom, but they hired me back
maybe I should put an explanation in my profile :-)
Hi ladies (any gents here today?)
Hello JBV :)
anyway bbl! and hi and bye jbv!
good for you, uusue (I am guessing so)
hello jbv, two days in a row. :-)
hi Annie - I thought of you yesterday - you're in Brighton Beach right?
Yes, I am
yes, JBV and hi
hi Mom
hello shallow one
Annie - I "talk" to an Italian friend in another forum who just moved to Brighton England and I told him about Brighton Beach here -
he had never heard of it
It is a small neighborhood in Brooklyn near the ocean
neither have I until now
hello babblers
Oh, I know it well, Annie - I grew up in Queens, spent a lot of time in Brooklyn
I shouldn't say "know" - it's been years - I know there's a big Russian community there now
((TO)) good morning
hi TO
hi TO
Neil Simon immortalized it - what else is there to say?
Brighton is the largest Russian speaking community in the US. I live on Ocean Parkway in a very large apartment house and it is about 90% Russian.
Hello Owl
hey, mom! had a good visit with my daughter in cincy this weekend -- halfway between Nashville and Ann Arbor -- isn't your daughter/son there?
Annie is in the grid today. Cheesecake for all!
yes, our son and his wife. We are just 10 minutes from Cincinnati
So I am. I adore cheesecake
had perfect walking weather -- covered miles :-)
I am sure it was a lovely visit. Where did you stay?
stayed downtown at Garfield Suites -- walked to ballpark, restaurants, cool railroad terminal :-)
<----- made cheesecake last night .... here Annie, have the last piece
ah, right across from the library
Thank you, Mom....yummy
had never been before -- great architecture downtown, eh? wish Nashville would stop tearing down cool bldgs!
Union Terminal is a great piece of history. Did you see the fountain downtown?
Annie, is Junior's still in Brooklyn? we used to have great cheesecake there
you're welcome Annie
will do more next time --at terminal had a GREAT docent who gave a 1-hr tour that included lots of interesting cincy history
JBV, Juniors is still on Flatbush Avenue
time to go.
wow
bye bye TO, make it a great day
bye TO :-)
Nice seeing you Owl, bye
other lower i beside io4/4?
there is so much to see and do downtown

cool, mom :-)
the museums are great
Is4/5
hello ((KJE))
is4---beliefs
or dogmatic?
downtown has the William Taft museum
ah, ty... down the wrong path...
hi mom!
maybe the next time you come to town the casino will be open
not really casino people but museums for sure :-)
the main thing is that she and I got to have time "just the two of us" which was NICE :-)
I am not casino people either but wanted to throw that out
:-D
it is always good to see the children
hadn't seen my baby girl since Xmas!
so many good places to eat also
at the casino?
yes!! ate breakfast twice at First Watch on my brother's recommendation -- yummy and great service -- had dinner twice at Nada == also delish and great service!
downtown, kje. Although once the casino opens I am sure they will have many places to eat
I have eaten at First Watch, great breakfasts. I have not eaten at Nada
thought for your wednesday http://tinyurl.com/5rhbh3 everyone do your share today
I guess every town will feel it must have a casino soon... weird. I remeber when it was a huge deal just to get a state lottery bill passed, now most states seem to be in the gambling biz
down to 18 and not seeing much... to list or not to list, that is the question
andmom has not yet mentioned chili, diplomat as she is she won't pick one :P
hello again

History buffs can visit General Stonewall Jackson's resting place in two different locations. Most of his body is buried under a monument in a cemetery in Lexington, Virginia. His left arm, however, is buried at the site of the battle of Chancellorsville in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It was amputated on the battlfield after Jackson was accidentally shot by his own men.
oh dear.
eww- lol
say, is there an iso- word today?
ho6?
no iso
word
io4/4 and is4/5

ty Hego. And now I must go and find somewhere to put my car. Got home tonight to find the road leading to the street where I live was closed for resurfacing. I had a car full of shopping so ignored the signs. Apparently if the car isn;t off the development by morning, iot won;t be going anywhere till Sunday afternoon. And nobody warned any of the 150 householders that this was happening
Well that sucks, Glant.
sounds typical
Home Owners Associations are from hell.
Think the nearest safe on street parking is about 3/4 mile away. I suppose the exercise this evening will do me good. And yes, it sucks. My bigger problem is that I am having a new living room window delivered and fitted on Friday. Had the dayh booked fof work for weeks. If the company can;t get the van to my house it isn;t going to happen.
No Home Owners Ass involvement. All homes privately owned. This is the local authority who are resurfacing
oooh bad

Here in the good ole US, we have Home Owners Associations even when the homes are privately owned.

hi all, back to find more words. I'd like to have a G&T. but it is fattening.
I usually wait til Fri Afternoon
it is fattening, but i con sole myself that 60 more years or so will cure me of that problem forever, then i am content and have my G&T
I am still tall and slim but getting a bit of a belly and I do not like that
I need to start doing belly exercises again but need to get motivated
stuck with 48 left
is a G&T less fattening on friday? lol
you should check out those skinny girl drink mixes they are bleating about on tv lately
or just do not use mix and cut back on the mix(there are 90 calories in 8 ounces of shweppes tonic water) hehe
not less fattening on Fri :)
I looked into those skinny girl drinks. they do not seem to sell them in my area. but I will check in the local wine and spirits stores too
I am using target brand of tonic and there are 100 calories per 8 oz
bbl
wild! there are only 60 calories in the shot of gin,so the mix does indeed have more
lose weight and drink the booze straight!..there a commercial in that hehe
so how many words today this fine afternoon and thanks

back, I just might go to martinis
and I am now drinking a g&t!
with potato chips too, hah
it is warm and humid here today. very foggy in am
190 calories in a 3 oz martini
oh dear
need to look into those skinny girl drinks then
straight gin seems the lowest at 90 cal
I would make a smaller martini, maybe 2 oz
then maybe straight gin on the rocks
with some fresh lime juice
yes, lime juice, wedge of fruit for garnish
yep
you can have 2 of those for the caloriecost of one mixed with tonic
well I do have exercise class tomorrow

wooo hooo! deep freeze in colorado springs tonight! gonna go buy cider for later in a bit :)
... does that mean skip it ... or a third party candidate ... a vote for "none of the above" ... or a spoiled ballot
theres some wonderful 3rd party candidates id love to vote for. if my candidate is leading in Coloraod comfortably ill vote for rocky anderson
That means I'm not voting. I don't believe either man is right for the job.
Cos, I would be clinically depressed if I lived somewhere that it got that cold this early.
ah colorado - hot days cold nights in sept/oct. love it. but the cold freeze means 40s all week til Sunday. not bad

No, scary is right.
... 1972 ... David Crombie got aobut 140,000 votes ... the white supremacist neo-nazi got about 3600 ... Rosie got about 3400 ... and Rick of the Universe got about 2200 ... and there were about ten others
... not real candidate wanted to run against Crombie ... so no one paid any attention to the election ... (including me ... I was younger and stupider then)
Dose, I live in America. I have no idea what a "real candidate" is. : D
Here, the only people who run for office are wealthy opportunists who are slaves to their investors and lobbyists and have no interest in serving the people who voted for them.
... someone that a sober thinking adult would consider as a suitable person to hold onto your wallet ... ... as a university student and not having a wallet I voted for the clown ... Rosie Sunshine ... because she was cute in the fright wig

Well, yeah. I read typo pretty well though.

Oh yeah? Good to know. I haven't... been too busy. Just started working again finally. A new full-time job that I actually like. :)
Cool, good to hear - yeah, partly I've been very busy myself, but I've spent quite a few hundred hours of spare time on certain other addictive games that kind of crowded this out for a while
Work is hard to come by these days, Neil, so well done on not only finding a job but finding one you like. I wish you all the best.

HI
election today: romney's toast. but it'll be a lot closer maybe. gremlin
obama has slight edge.
Because Obama isn't a nut bag
I hope that after the debate Obama will have more edge, but...we shall see.
Neil I have been wanting to ask you
itll be hard for Obama tonight. he really disllke Romney. He has to be careful how he shows it. It hurt him in Jan 2008 against Hillary in NH.
I think the latter is pretty accurate, gremlinn. Better be. I "trolled" Romney a few weeks ago over something he tweeted. Predicatably, no response.
ty dc & gremlin
Predictably, even. Damn typos.
As an outsider to USA politics, I can only agree with Herin. Romney does seem like a nut job.
Neil you coming to Aus too with your brother?
I think he was a VERY odd choice for the Republican party.
He's worse than a nutjob. He's batshit insane.
as a Washingtonian, agreed, herin and jac, though he's far from the worst of the lot on the right side of the spectrum here at present.
agreed, red
No Herin, I'm not. I've just started a full-time job.
mazel tov, neil :)
Hi Seain.
Thanks. :)
evening
If they actually wanted to win the election, they could have chosen a far more moderate Candidate...and had pretty good success...
Took long enough huh?
I won't say "toast" just yet but the signs are looking pretty bad
Moderates have no place in the Republican party any more.
O Yah for you. I saw adverts for you brother and I was thinking I wonder if you are coming to. Australia is Awesome and Melbourne is the best city every. Which as i live here I have to say so
I'd toast him.
national level, at least.
the issue is the Tea Party (Dixiecats in my mind) hijacked the party -- no hope for moderates there any more.
I'd toast to you toasting him.
I see Herin. No, not this time.
Cos, that's true through the South also.
Haha, gremlinn. I don't think I could find a toaster big enough though.
Hi seain.

wtg minver
2Bit, put your fingers in your ears and sing LA LA LA LA...it works for me.
Where are they swinging, and why are they so wobbly?
Hello Book Doctor Gwen! How are you?Welcome to the grid
I will try to do a story of clues if I do not get too distracted by the bozos on TV.
Oh I don't think "You can't handle the truth" would work for Obama. He is not exactly the bastion of truth himself.
almost everyone watching has already made up their mind, and will watch from their own affirmation bias. So there's no actual debate or reasoning going on, but we've somehow been trained to think this skill of "dueling speechmaking" is somehow presidential
Well, if Romney becomes President, we can say goodbye to the swing sets on Sesame Street.
Swing voters- who are you?
I agree 2Bit. And the people who haven't bothered to formulate an opinion yet, probably are not watching the debate anyway.
That's true, most who are watching this have made up their minds already.I do think it's important to have the debates
Agreed Molly - Romney was just flipflopping around and your West Wing comment made me think of that.
They both have major faults - I guess I'm just going with
May I please have a clue for oo5-14? Thanks
"better the Devil you Know"
the political junkies oo5 and aahed over the presidential debates
the big bird/romney memes have come out already
I would agree Min, if they were actually asked important questions and really answered them. The reality is, the president has very little control over the economic direction of the country. These debates just feed the media's need to present things as a competition (the closer the better)
oo5, similar to the oo4, but different verb ending
:) good clue dan2
Thanks much, dan.
I'm done now - promise
I still want smoosh to be a word
I totally disagree. Better the devil you know should not apply to how you vote for the President of your country.
this country needs real third (fourth? fifth?) parties, and if not a parliamentary system, at least some proportional representation
slim congressional majorities should not become total gridlock
ok, *I'm* done now :-)
promise
aaaaaa - I promised - so I can't comment :)
In other news...police in Chicago have discovered a pot farm with SIX FOOT PLANTS. Great googly moogly.
teehee
proportional representation, instant runoff voting, NO private money in campaigns, NO proprietary software in voting machines, NO partisan officials in charge of elections, criminal prosecution for candidated caught spending one cent above their allotment
That brings new meaning to the song Everybody Must Get Stoned.
oh, and NBT
Gotta go, laundry beckons.

Hello jesdraggon! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
I'm well, Min. How are you?
I'm doing well. I'm playing Family Feud now on FaceBook.
sounds fun
It is & very addictive. I've played ten rounds of Fast Money.
I don't have facebook, so i don't know most of the games.
Don't even like FaceBook.I only have it so I can play games

Hi stid :)
Hello stidmama! How are you doing?Welcome to the puzzle
getting cold here on this side of the mountains, jes...
it's always cold over there, stid :P
no... we actually put the "lid" on the cold frame this afternoon! I don't want my baby lettuces to freeze tonight. I think it's going to be THAT cold. brrr... last week we had high temps in the upper 70s and lows in the upper fifties. *sigh*
supposed to be below 30 at night this week and in 60s during day here.
but it always feels cold over there to me, because of the humidity
It's not that humid right now, but I have heard that is true. I left that side of the state so long ago I don't remember what the transition felt like. :-)
i lived in skagit as a kid and never noticed, but when i moved back over there for a year or so, i was constantly cold
Yes, it's funny what we can acclimate to -- I know that I never re-acclimated to the cold waters of the Pacific after Puerto Rico and Virginia. THOSE were lovely, warm, swimming waters!
Evening.
hey neil
Hey stidmama.
I lived in Bellingham for a year in the early '80s, didn't like the damp much. But I liked the town and people.
I like the clear air, which is good for my allergies, but not the molds which is bad for them... :-) we takes the goods with the bads.
I miss the mountains. :(
ae clue please?
Hello Neil! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chog
ae + eat fancily
That ae 6/21 word is ae plus di 4/5 word jesdraggon.

Hi Min. I'm well thanks... and you?
jes... I made chicken-liver pate (for the first time) tonight, using some of the lard I rendered last month. *proud mama look* It's really yummy. Going to be hard to not eat too much....
the mountains are nice (from a distance) I am not much of a backwoods person.
I am well, but I am about to leave. Nice to see you briefly.
*doing the "i'm not worthy" bow to stiddy who can render lard, wow!
Glad to hear that... or read it.
Have never had liver pate... i think i tried liver once as a kid...
Nice to see you briefly too.
Min, I am glad you were here today.
oh, well, I was a woodsy hiking fool back then, now I'd be a fool to try.
I love liver -- probably because I tend to be anemic. But I don't usually have enough to make anything yummy.

Hi again gremlinn.
Hello
thanks again
So gremlinn... what are those "certain other addictive games" that you say have crowded out Babble for a while?
I joined a good Boggle site, but I'm sure it's one you know about already... http://weboggle.info/
Skyrim (nearly 250 hours) and now Just Cause 2 (over 150)
What kind of games are those?
RPG and action
So that cut into almost all of my Boggle time for a while
Oh, ok.
I think I've seen weboggle.info, not sure if I played it (if so, not a lot probably)
mainly still play at Wordsplay
OMG, neil, rofl...was your face red??
I've been there but find Weboggle better.
rururocks plays at Weboggle as well.
Haha, I think all of me was, Rose!
Yeah. I'm sure it glowed red.
i can't imagine how embarrassed you were. and so easily done.
Haha, yeah. Remember, alcohol was involved. :P
Combine that with being overtired.
yeah, i know. lethal combo
Yep.
Haha, just read your "fact free multitasker" line in your profile
Ha. Glad you enjoyed it. ;)
See my Oct. 01 update, gremlinn.
I'm sure that will give you a much bigger laugh.

Welcome back Rose. :)
That was quite the bizarre story, Neil. I've got nothing remotely like that.
I'm kinda here... and kinda elsewhere.
Everywhere, nowhere.
Haha, gremlinn... think yourself lucky.
(I'm generally overly careful about always having keys on me, etc. Haven't been locked out of anywhere yet!)
Well, alcohol was involved... and exhaustion.
sounds like Elvis
Hey ru!
the only time i came remotely close to that, neil, was the day when i accidentally hit the k key instead of the j key here in chog. as i said, remotely.
Haha... check profile.

Explain that one, Rose?

neil, ibroke up the chog totally, poor ruru could hardly breathe.
it was so embarrassing. i cut my fingernails ASAP.
you were a good sport about it granny
ah well, if you can't laugh at your own silly mistakes, then you are being waay too serious.
actually, it still makes me giggle, to think about it.
