Hi flosey and ((((Rose)))).

Just popping in before bed -- hi flosey -- here's my picture and why I wasn't at bridge.
Hi neil too.
Hi jilli... wow. I see your post-op photo!

Cute, eh? It aches a bit so I've taken a tylenol with codeine

Wow, jilli. You look pretty bright for someone who has just had a general anesthetic?
*re-repoof
No general anaesthetic -- just a local. I guess I should put that in the profile.
so what's the proboscis ?
i mean prognosis
lol, ruru, you are so quick with the puns.
Oh I see... that explains it.
I hope you heal up nicely jilli
Ditto to what ru just said.
some people are going to think Jilli went in for a face lift... let's straighten them out right here and now
*groan* ruru!!!!

Hello, PMS
Hi BR
Quiet time again
oa
Hello, Nono
morning BR!
red bar of doom.... must have been hiccup time
chaw
oops sorry
I cannot figure out lo6, any clues please?
I finally figured it out. Thanks
small lo4, scottish pond
too late...
and hi everyone
t
Hello, tc. How are you doing these days?
I keep forgetting to check the "no" box when I am adding words to lickety. Sorry about that. Sitting looking at this puzzle and my mind is blank.
morning all
hi smores, tc, br
good afternoon, Babble friends
hi sprite:)
hi Shallow :) What's the verdict? Small and easy, or tiny and tight?
afternoon sprite
I have many blank days, tceicher.
hi smores!
very tight - 72 and stuck.
Hello sprite. Easier than easy
I would like to see more puzzles with lots of words. These little ones seem to have more obscure words.
hello BabbleRabble, glad to see you. How's today for you?
I agree, tceicher.
true, tc, the smaller ones often have a higher obscure word percentage.
Perhaps my vocabulary needs to expand
worst part though is they are still over fast...
I am fine ... accept for when I am not.
and why isn't wolfman a word
An expanded vocabulary is great ... especially when I try to be interesting talking to myself.
teehee - I just tried it too tc...lol
seems like everyone tries for wolfman... halloween spirit?
no sun here today, dreary day and lots of arguments with my puber son... am having trouble to beat depression. :D at least you have someone intelligent to talk to, BabbleRabble.
Shallow: yes of course. Wolfman is SO a word.
The answer is always the same .... Enable is the arbiter of what finds its way into the word list. Who knows how Enable decides?
i tried wo4man too, just now! c'mon, the old movie has been out since the '30s, right? or even earlier? :P
one of the perks of playing Babble... getting to nag at Enable.
hi rbud :)
Take the cu4 word for instance. I don't know what it means but I'm going to look up the definition and try to use it in a sentence today.
hi! woke up really early today, planning to get outside and do some sawing and nailing, whee!
dont be so overly serious - the wordlist is an easy topic to start a chat about, even easier than the weather ...
and by the way i think the ch6 obscure word, that was in the ultra-short grid you cited the other day, is repeated in this one. what a coincidence
hi rbud
lol tc, good idea! Just looked it up too. Another addition to my useless-but-impressive wordlist.
Hello everyone
what did you build?
hello lyn :) xxx How are you?
and hi lyn
Pretty good Sprite...and you?
Oh, my, that cu4 is unusually hollow today, don't you think?
Hello, Lyn
working on hubby's addition to his shop, and building a couple of bunny a-frames for our daughter's pets. not big jobs, but probably not many good days left outside, so...
hi Shallow and BR
been better... 4-week hiatus in therapy coinciding with my son being a very nasty and mean puber... am having trouble to beat down depression. But me and mine are otherwise healthy.
I am impressed and jealous Rosebud
sounds good, rbud. Nice jobs, and great you can do them yourself.
good for you, rb
yes, with daughter's help, she wants to make sure the bunnies get their homes. I actually own more saws than the husband, haha! :)
I hope all the c**p lasts for a short time Sprite..you don't need it, in fact no-one needs it
beat it down sprite, beat it down!!
((((spritey))))
thanks lyn :) No, nobody needs bad stuff. Still, life is not about avoiding it, but handling it, right? Not that I am doing a good job of that atm, but am trying ;)
thanks rbud and smores :)
how old is your son?
he is 16 yo
See if you can turn off when he starts up Sprite, he will come through the other side a decent person - but you need to make sure you get through too.
rough age, ours was a serious handful around then (and for years before and after, sigh...)
turn off when he starts up... there's an idea. Thanks.
it seems to be impossible to have him help a bit around the house. Refuses to walk the dog or wash up the dishes unless we make a big issue about it. Every day.
my oldest is 15 (daughter) when through hell with her last year, I know its rough
ours was in rehab twice, and spent a bit of time in jail, took cars and drove them around (no license at the time) underage drinking (got caught) alternative school... been hard.
my son is smart and sensitive enough to know which remarks will really hurt me and he uses each and every one of them... some days... I almost don't like him anymore.
my youngest just turned 13 - so 2 teenage girls now - keep me in your prayers all :)
omg rbud... and then I am complaining about an attitude problem... so sorry! How did you get through?
I hear ya, sprite. mean little buggers, they can be.
I don't think I would bother Sprite - just don't do anything for him - like wash/iron/clean his room etc. Who needs the aggro
will do, smores ;)
just kept plugging along. spent a lot of nights worrying. thankfully I don't stress out easily.
now that is another good idea, lyn. Never thought of that. Will discuss that with my love - might get the message across a lot better than fighting.
got real tired of attending counseling sessions with him, knowing he wasn't taking a bit of it seriously.
tough times Rosebud - and how has he turned out now?
oh I can imagine! That is really taxing.
he's still a pain at 21, but turning a little more human day by day.
my hat off to you, rbud. Well done! And thanks for reminding me it will get better.
still can't get any help around here without nagging, though, lol! :P
lol! Ok... well I am willing to nag. Just not fight. That would already be a big improvement.
my daughter did the same thing, the thing sprite... that used to come out her mouth....ugh - I think when I finally went off on her and told her I loved her but no longer liked her it helped
rotten thing is, ptsd is a b*tch on the best of days. And some things he says to me trigger old stuff and then I am reduced to nothing. Feeling worthless and not fit to live as I used to feel. That is not his fault, but darn it is hard to handle.
oh wow... that is how I feel often about him, smores. Exactly that.
does he know this?
that's one of the counseling things, tell them you love them but don't like the things they do. for all that it helps... not much.
hm no... haven't told him that. Am always scared to say hurtful things because of my own past. But this is definitely true.
I do love him. A lot. Or I wouldn't even bother.
sprite, have you considered asking Tim to attend a couple of counseling sessions with you?
of course it may have helped because I pinned her to the wall and sceamed it at her...not my best moment...but it I believe it got her to realize how hurtful she was being
you guys rock :D Thanks for listening and helping. Am feeling better already because of it.
no, BabbleRabble... I haven't... that is another good idea. Thank you.
Explain to the counselor what is going on and maybe Tim will be more empathetic?
oh smores... no, maybe not your best moment, but things must have been really rotten for you to get to that point. As I keep reminding myself: being a parent does not mean you have to be holy or perfect.
my poor sister... her son just turned 16, is obsessed with a 14-year-old girl, and threatens suicide almost daily when she won't answer his calls or changes a "date" in favor of shopping with grandma or whatever - he's storming out of the house all the time, she's found him on the top of a parking garage threatening to jump more than once... cutting himself, pretend hangings... I really feel for her, having held my son's ankles as he hung head first out the upstairs windows on one occasion, etc., etc...
That is funny reading now Smores - now - sure bet it wasn't at the time. But you did make her realise how she was hurting you - very brave
it is a very good idea, BabbleRabble. I have already asked for an interim session with my psychiatrist. I will give this a try. It might help. She is good at listening... Tim will feel 'seen and heard' as well.
how do you tell a kid so young that his big romance is really meaningless in the grand scheme of life, and she's way too young for commitment, as is he.
I don't know about brave I just kinda lost it
{{{{{{{{{{{{{rbud}}}}}}}}}}}}} and my sincere best wishes to your sister and her son. Teenage drama is so intense. An impossible age to relativate (is that a word?).
Carl Sandburg said a baby is God's opinion that life should go on. I sometimes wonder if God is being a slacker.
thats terrible Rosebud...you don't have teen suicide /lifelines over there that can help?
*grins @ BabbleRabble* Yeah... I hear ya!
Come on, wo**man is not a word? It's almost Halloween.
oh my rbud that is awful
you'd think, wouldn't you, lynxxx - sis has sent her son off to "lockup" hoping for counseling for him and help, and they send him back home the next day.
one of life's worst challenges is to get good help when you need it. It is amazing how rotten the whole system is.
hello hokie carla, join the club... we all want that word.
they say he said he "doesn't mean it" when he does the suicidal things, so he doesn't need help. doesn't make us moms feel any better, as we still have to worry, it being our job. :P
Youth America Hotline Counseling for Teens by Teens 1-877-YOUTHLINE 1-877-968-8454
Maybe this might help Rosebud - talking to peers might work
and how do they know he doesn't mean it? He can say that, but the common belief that those that talk about it don't do it, has proven wrong.
ty, lynxxx, will pass it on. I told her that one thing that did seem to help our son was peer counseling, but they don't even give hers enough time in there to talk to any other kids.
good one, lyn! At that age, peers are the only authority they take seriously, I think.
yeah, I think you have to take any threat like that seriously.
well of course we all remember when we were teenagers how our parents didn't know anything don't we
not really, lyn, my teenager time was rather hellish. More about surviving than about pushing away from the parents.
true that, lynxxx - I moved out at 17, in fact - irreconcilable differences with Mom. And never asked them for a thing, supported myself - but these are different days.
((((double hugs)))) for Sprite
same here, rbud... was out of the house at 16.
sorry for jumping in here. But, can't your sister have him committed as he is a threat to his own life
both our kids still live here and mooch money off us -I keep telling them my story and asking why they can't be more like that, lol.
thanks for the hugs, lyn :) Moving out was one of the best things I have ever done... moving back in when my mother needed help was one of the stupidest though. We can only learn from our own mistakes, it seems :)
lol rbud! Indeed. Just a little bit would help already.
hello bichon, glad to have you join in.
hi Bichon
There are many things that make no sense (at least to me). Most of the institutions the treated mental disorders have been closed. Prisons replaced them. The prison population in the US is the highest in the world. Inmate advocates have sued for better health care for prisoners and prevailed. Prisoners, therefore, frequently get better heath care that law abiding citizens to the point people are committing crimes to go to prison to get health care. Another anomaly, studies confirm that prisoners that enroll in learning programs are less risks for being recidivists ... so states are approving more funding for education for prisoners while viewing education as a whole a budget drain.
that's what she did, bichon, twice now - and they just keep letting him back out. I don't understand it.
hi BR, rbud, lynxxx, sprite
Since he's a minor, the doctors must have had to communicate their reasoning to your sister
and BR is right, there aren't any places to send kids like that any more, they're closing them all down.
Is this kid over 18? My friend just went through something similar with her daughter. She ended up driving her car into a telephone pole and so the state made her go into some kind of facility. She turned 18 while there and they had to let her out. She ended up going back into the hospital on her own a little after that.
for money moochers, write up loan papers, and tell them that you expect the loan to be paid off by the end of a specific time w/o interest. after the time elapses, accrue interest. stick to your guns on that! nickle and diming you counts towards the loan.
too true, BabbleRabble. Things are deteriorating here as well. Next year I have to pay an awful lot of money to be allowed to be treated... used to be covered by insurance, now they have instituted a huge 'own risk'. Because psychiatric patients won't protest too much... they cannot.
yes, they said he wasn't really suicidal, as he kept telling them he was only kidding... and they put him on some medication that isn't working.
good old magic pills, I wouldn't let them do that to my kid. it turned him into a zombie.
so easy... give them medication, take their words about being kidding over all their words and actions that show they are not kidding at all, and done, they are off their hands and back in yours.
talk to your physician and see if he will prescribe counseling to go along with the medication. that's the part of the script that is often missing.
hi dawg :) Good ones.
yes, my friend's daughter does therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. they have also tried all kinds of different meds. just have to keep changing until they find one that works.
finding the right medication is very very hard.
It is the same mindset in the military ... the highest suicide rate ever and most will not get help because the chain of command treats them as malingerers
I think my sis will find out more as she goes along, this is all recent for her. just now trying to figure out how to deal with it. I, on the other hand, have years of experience with "the system" and try to advise her.
Don't discount all medications rbud. They can work and not all turn people into zombies
as for ptsd...getting angry at the person is okay. they may be traumatised by a situation, but they are still responsible for their actions. that's another point often misdirected about ptsd patients.
thanks dawg. I know that, in theory, but it is very good to be reminded of that.
years of being on the other side of the desk with ptsd patients...vietnam vets mostly, kept me on my toes, but also warmed my heart to the trauma a person can go thru and survive.
hey, I finally remembered the two na4 that I miss every single time.
well, at the time they tried my son on meds, he had several friends and acquaintances who had killed themselves on meds, or right after coming off them. I wasn't going to make him go down the same road, and he felt very strongly that it would make him do the same. true or not, I didn't make him take anything, and I think it was the right choice.
in my opinion, he was just a kid with an attitude problem, not a mental problem.
wtg, hokie!!
old dogs can learn new tricks. ;-)
I like that last sentence Rosebud
it's hard to medicate teens. they are hormonal and the meds will wreak havoc with them. watch the diet and intake of sugars, alcohol and other substances.
Direct advertising by big pharma in the US (one of only a few that allow it) created the medical model for treating mental disorders .. discounting therapy that works better for environmental causes ... fortunately, the chemical imbalance bias now is being reconsidered in favor of a more holistic approach ... that may or may not include meds.
plus I spent years watching them overmedicate my dad, so I have sort of a negative attitude about overuse of meds. he was on 8 different things at once at one point, sigh...
yes BabbleRabble, crazy as it is. Get people to live through hell, then tell them they are malingerers for being traumatised by it.
SSRI's helped me a whole lot. World of difference for me
gotta go for a while. good luck with everything, everyone.
bye hokie
bye hokie carla, have a good day

am so glad! Good news :) Good luck with the tooth.
it's a crown; got a temporary a couple of weeks ago and this is the permanent one. Shouldn't be a big deal.
ah good. Am scared to death of dentists, so I admire your courage :)
I tell dentists I have involuntary biting spasms
fireflies!
not courage, it just doesn't bother me. Will be glad to have it over with.
Congrats, sprite

Hello, Sue. Hope Frank does not end up on a roller coaster ride ... Crohn's is hard to treat.
Hi, BR! I hope so too. He transitions to the new medicine today; we will see how it goes. And after the ice cream episode a couple of days ago he is being very careful about what he eats.
Clue for ch6 please
don't have it, boo
Found it
ch6 - it means the opening to the nasal cavity - ch + vowel + sounds like a girl's name - not a good clue but it's difficult to clue. So ch + 2 vowels then consonant then vowel. Good luck!
ha, me too
Well done - and without clues!!!!
well, I peeked at lickety

Hi Hego!
with thanks to sean for posting this on fb,i now give you crossy,s new poem of the day!!
Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. - William Ernest Henley
very nice crossy!

Hi again - rediscovered an old custard pie recipe my mom used to make - put on my profile if anyone is interested - so much easier than the custard I've been making
Hi smores! Ymmmmm, sounds good!

Every 4 letter word known to man....
I have 54/66 of the 4's
23 left, had to go to the list
I am drinking chai tea which is not accpeted
Your soup sounds yummy!! Love curry.
me too, I add it to a lot of things. got the recipe off of a can of butter beans and then added stuff to it
I love soup, espec when the weather gets cooler
I just hate to admit that it's soup season....LOL

We're going to Hawaii in 2 weeks!!
Wow, lucky you!!
Oooh ... I love soup weather. Toooooo hot here in the summer to enjoy it
I have never been there but would love to go

that makes you a VIP. cos
lol. i guess im going to a debate party in a bit
fingers crossed here about the debate
town hall format but the moderator was a Bush lackey so we'll see.
oh dear. But I did see about the Bain demo to take place.
bain hasn't been hurting romney as much as dems thought.. they need a new stragety.
bbs....gotta fix dinner
toodles, JJ ssis!
bye Jilly
those ch words are fo4/8 -- can't find more than one
Ooo, a debate party. Shooters every time Obama says "change". : D
ditto Romney
do you have the ch4 from gore v bush? (lol molly id be waste)

enable is wo5ly inadequate...LOL
Thanx anyway. Let's hope the debate is enjoyable.
Cos, did you see that Gallup poll?

Romney has a 4 point solid lead (out of margin of error) over Obama
ugh!
You said it sis!
romney has a lead in PPP!! PPP wih its dem slant
5 points too in PPP.
He'd better show up at this debate!
*shudders*
my concern is candy crowley who was a bush sypmathist.
have a early report just now from a friend in manie.she reports and earthquake of all things just occured in last 3 minutes
greetings all
We in Canada care too -- you know about the elephant, eh?
wow....
howdy gwen
how big a quake, crossy?
hi gwen
Hello Gwen! and Crossy
not sure yet jilly, enough to shake the house..getting more info now
did you say maine?
well she has power and internet,so not enough to damage infrastructure, but waiting on more info
yes i did
Jilly- new polls from YouGov (not national but state polls) all show good numbers for Obama!
I really don't think I will have a good nights sleep until after the election....
we had romney in the grid the other day, and today, odama LOL
me too. sunday night i did not sleep a wink. too worried.
lol gwen
There's Amanda in the grid -- that poor little bullied suicide.
But we will be in Hawaii on election day...
amen jilli
ill be at the fancy party sponsored the county democrats :) free booze and finger foods
ahh yes thats very sad. her story has been overshadowed here for jessica
I'll be glued to the TV
Nice cos...
Swish Cos : )
the party will have around 10 tvs.. all on different channels :)
well all but one channel ;)
Think I will prefer Hawaii!
Faux news?
exactly
LOL...well casserole about done....time to make a salad and get ready for debate...bbl
4 years ago we turned faux on 5 minutes before california closed because we knew once california closed they had to declare obama the winner. it was sweet seeing fox news grudingly announce obama was pres-elect
bye jilly!
hoo ho cosdem
we do not allow faux(fox ) news into our cable packages because we have a law on the books that news programs must tell the truth and the crtc killed their application
canada is so cool! 8-D
:)
we used to have similar regs but there were some fascists who got rid of them (or simply stopped enforcing them)
;(
there were some law students who brought suit against a tv news station on the ground that is was no news, it was mostly "mayhem" and "celebrity fluff" but the judge threw it out
well, you let one do that, then you get more and soon none of them are worth a damn for accurate information and they all may as well be scrapped
Or ignored, Crossy
i agree. i stopped watching tv "news" over 10 years ago. there is no news there
i never watch tv news either. i bring upp cnn.com for american stuff and cbs.com for more local stuff.look at the news i want then leave
and my phantom-du-jour is couch

Do they sometimes get quakes? Or is this something to do with fracking.
ugh fracking
I certainly hope not!
Every now and then we will get a small quake, but nothing major. I think this might be one of the largest we have had.
A friend who lives in Ft. Worth said they've started getting quakes and never did before. There's fracking going on there
fracking is a horrible practice
I agree Crossy
it is almost as bad as when they used to use sulphuric acid to leech gold
i have a wo4, furry critter. clue for the other w? (i tried adding -man to the wo4 with no joy)
arooo!
Fuzzy did I tell you I recognised your icon right away because my husband's family has been going to Tadoussac in the summer for generations and now mine does?
howl?
oh, hey, found the other W, so NM
The Saguenay area is beautiful. I enjoy going up there too.
Can you clue it Gwen? I haven't had any luck
the other w (wo5/26) is sad about its misspelling
wo + not empty minus final consonant
ty jilli
Thanks...never would have found it.
wo5, archaic, means sad, rhymes with "obama got an ear*** of criticism after the first debate"
me too slow on de clue
Thanks, Gwen...and sure hope he does better tonight
fuzzy -- if you go to Tad in the summer, you should look up my son and family. They have a place across from the ugly church, where the bistro is.
Hopefully we will be there next summer and I will make every effort to do so!
hey, even the prez himself admitted he was a bit too "nice" in that first debate
nbt, nbs and more than halfway Time to take a break, get a drink and sit down with the morning papers...haven't had a chance yet today.
How close is it to the little beach in the center of town?
enjoy, tabbycat!
My son and family think he was so furious that he felt he had to be polite or he might explode.
do you mean the beach below the Hotel Tadoussac?
I thought he was thrown off by Romney's total flip flop from everything he'd been saying for the last 2 years.
Yes, crossy
yes, tabby, and angry.
C ya later
he shouldnt have been. romney changes his position more than he breaths
News just said that the Maine earthquake was felt as far south as Boston.
true, crossy
And, they interrupted Jeopardy to tell us that!
love your lighthouse pic fuzzybunny.crossy has a thing for lighthouses.here on our georgian bay we have(had) a string of 30 or so ,all of which were built in 1858(about 15 survive)
That lighthouse used to be a boat, called the Prince Shoal.
very interesting indeed
The Phare du Haut was a boat at one time?
Crossy, I have always wanted to go to Georgian Bay.
yes, fuzzy. It was when it first went there in 1944.
My husband is driving up to Nunavuk next month for a Caribou hunt.
*when I went there in 1944
here is a pic of what our lighthouses look like...
http://tinyurl.com/8alalwf
I must not have done enough research on it, because I didn't learn that about it. It is an odd shape for a lighthouse.
the p[ic on right is type most seen
Those lighthouses are very similar to the ones on the coast of Maine and New Brunswick.
yes, when it comes to lighthouses,we learn from our east coast provinces
I grew up on Lake Huron and there was a lighthouse that was a boat that was moved at the beginning of each winter back to shore so that it wasn't crushed by the ice.
now they are redundant..it is sad
Yes, somehow the automated ones are just not the same...
Wonderful pictures, crosshair.
http://tinyurl.com/8umpm9y -- excerpt: At the opening of navigation in 1905, the iron Lightship No. 7 replaced a gas buoy that had been marking Prince Shoal. The lightship, which was painted red with the words “Prince Shoal†and “No. 7†displayed in white letters on its sides, exhibited white lights from its two masts and a red light on a stay strung between them. In thick weather, the vessel’s steam whistle would sound a twelve-second blast in each minute. The ship was also equipped with a submarine bell that would strike the lightship’s number in this manner: seven strokes spaced by two-seconds, followed by a ten-second interval.
our closest one was automated in 1985,then declared unsafe in the early 90,s.we have ours in a restoration program, but funds/donations are slow in coming, but it is stable and safe for now
interesting jilly
Thanks, Jilly. I will spend some time at the website to learn more. It is truly one of my favorite lighthouses.
Of course Quebec changed the name to a French one.
yw, fuzzy -- enjoy!
i was born 100 years too late..would loved to have been keeper of the light
out there right of the cusp of the waters fury as the waves slam halfway up the lighthouse, you struggle up the stairs to the peak and send the beam of light forth to guide the sailors home..sigh
Crossy, thanks for sharing that website. The story about the lighthouse keepers was interesting. I was convinced that they were going to be swept into the St. Lawrence.
the wind coming hard out of the north, the rain stinging like 1000 wasps, you lean into the storms fury, protecting the flame you guard with your cheast in the lantern,up the many stairs to the dark cyclops in the tower, you open the front lamp guard and lean in with your fitful, guttering flame and pray as it gutters against the wick of the big lamp.you hear the storms fury driving the ship to the shoals,it,s captain blind in the night and calling for aid on the wireless, then the light catches and the big lamp shines forth into the night guiding our wayward travellers to the home bearth..there we go,now time for med s hehe
np fuzzy bunny
I think I would have liked to be a lighthouse keeper too.
Crossy didn't send you the Prince Shoal website, fuzzy. I did.
i love natures elemental fury
sorry jilli, did not mean to steal your post
Oops, thank you Jilly! I will be doing more research on it.
All's well, crossy -- loved your descriptions
crossy loves sea stories
It's cocktail hour and I have other things to do that I should have been doing instead of this, so bye for now! (38 left)
Bye Jilly, thanks for all the great info.
singing * I"m going to marry a lighthouse keeper
fuzzy -- keep in touch -- my email is at the bottom of my profile.
and live by the side of the sea, I'm going to marry a lighthouse keeper and keep him company
Perfect, bugs!
ty Jilly
Never happen tho, they started unmanning lighthouse keepers by the time I was old enough to live in one
hope everyone is having a good day. I almost have my garden put to bed. Enjoying the balance between rain and sun
Debates are killing me.
then do not watch them;)
i hear romney can really lay in on in the debates..bet it is handy at parties...
i have that gift also,i can talk the birdies from the trees and eskimos into buying ice cubes, but it is a very good thing i am not president;))
22 minutes away to my prez debate feed.should be interesting
hey all! (((bugs hugs)))
I missed JILL!!! *wail* how's the grid?
Hey stid. THis grid is mean
Did you teach today?
howdy stidmama:))
grid is so evil i do not know if i should play it or call a priest
Really. Even with the List I have 24 I can't find
hey cross. hm. I vanquished middle schoolers today, maybe my luck will hold?
perhaps;))
Way to go stid. Middle schoolers are not all as bad as people make out are they?
most aren't a few are worse though... :-D I made them SILENT READ!!! and then I made them watch schoolhouse rock on conjunctions. *wicked teacher grin* and only a lucky few earned starfish stickers...
hiya stiddy!! i love middle school...well really junior high...they are so much fun to laugh at...erhm with.
schoolhouse rock is amazing!
I love Schoolhouse Rock becaue so many of them can remember things to a song. Grade 9's would be horrified tho.
I had such a great time -- there was a student teacher who taught two sections, and she was great to watch. Really enjoyed working with her and exchanging ideas.
hey LBD! :-) rofl yes, they do amuzing things... <--tyop noticed and retained
Hi lbd! I always seem to miss you
hiya bugs!! how ya doing?
much better now that I don't have to work every day thanks
:-) working...so overrated...but the paychecks...
here is a cute one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14fXm4F\nOMPM
absolutely. I do miss those but I am working one day a week and shoud get paid a bunch for September when I worked 2 days each week. Should refill the savings account
oooh. speaking of paychecks... I just got several calls from the automated system for a teacher friend who has requested me for three days again, and I picked up two more today from a different district... so at the end of this month, if no more calls come in... *drumroll* I will have fourteen calendar days, twelve days' worth of pay! The most ever for me, and three days already scheduled next month.
I am glad you are still doing some tutoring, bugs -- is that going okay?
that took me to a page and the first video on it is an Italian algebra lesson about solving equations of the first degree... I am surprised I can follow it!
I love the tutoring. I get all the stuff I love about the job without the politics, staff personalities, and an audience for the student when he is off
Ican't fgure out which one I should watch either crossy
He is doing VERY well with the one on one time
:-) the district I was in today I really like. Teachers express frustration about students on occasion, but in the course of trying to figure out how to improve the situation.
I don't mind that so much because they are really open to suggestions of what works with specific kids. I minded that my supervisor thot kids with Aspergers or high functioning autism were just odd and shud be told to act normally. I frustrated her.
and all pets should look and act like lassie!
yes, I remember our conversations -- clearly that person didn't understand the nature of their needs. I like doing one on one work, too -- really nice to be able to completely individualize!
ah, Tom and Grant are home...
see you later then
and there is me at halfway and NBT. going to head out and figure out supper I think -- might be the leftovers in the freezer and fridge. (((bugs))) (((cross))) (((LBD))) have lovely evenings, and see you again soon! *poof*
bye, stiddy
I wish a had a nickel for every time I have typed in half or maid..............
sounds like you have no common cents bugs
:D
LOL sure don't ruru
cud use some tho with this grid
I hate these little grids.. because the weirdest and dumbest words appear and are impossible to find without help
I finally got the fa 6,7 that was clued last night!
firewords. last one was da 5
eanyone need a clue before I go ?
Congrats, Bugsaw
thank you BR. Hope your day is good.
I leave anyone to your much more able clues. Nite
whooo hooooo Bugs!!
Have not had a really little grid in awhile.
Hi all!
back again, bye bugs, hey sue and BR!
and ruru!
hi stid.. and uu
Hello, Sue and stid
rofl BR!!!! *gasp, chortle* your profile icon really startled me!
Going to chog while debate is going on...
hey jilly!
How was your day stid?
it was very good, jilly -- I am EXHAUSTED, but it was really nice, too.
how about yourself?
Busy but good. So, did you sub somewhere?
hi all
Hi weiik!
yep, middle school. where I actually knew most of the kids and even remembered about 2/3 of their names! :-D made it very easy to know who needed more vigorous correction and who needed more space. I like being familiar with kids and routines. It's all so much less stressful for us all.
hey weiik!
how many words in the grid
I have NO idea how to pronounce your name... 95 words
hi stid and jilly
is it WEEK, or WAKE, OR WIKE??? or Bob? *grin*
95
stidmama it is we ick, I was actually creating a name and slipped and I kinda kept it and used it on other sites
oh! LOL see, I knew I wasn't going to get that. *pounds head on keyboard -- we ick, we ick, we ick*
I simply cannot wait until someone recognizes what a called and gifted teacher you are and gives you your own classroom!!
well, I still have plenty of boneheaded new teacher moments... LOL but I figure things out pretty fast, and we get back on track! thanks for your confidence, though Jilly. I am happy enough subbing, and someday the perfect job will fall in my lap. I want to be hired by a district that has teachers who have been there for a long time. And I am willing to wait my turn until those positions open up! I am definitely not interested in the high turnover districts.
Waugh, iPad wasn't updating the chat! Hi stid and jilly and BR and weiik.
hello again sue! how's you today? it was rather sunny around here for about half the time. The other half the time it was really rainy and not much fun....
hi uusue2 ....
Hi!
Hello uusue! How is hubby?
I am ok. Busy day at work.
hello firefly
He is reasonably stable, jilly. Started expensive pills today.
firefly! *dances around with happiness*
I just read about the expensive pills, sue. Hope those work.
I wish I was dancing with happiness. Have a headache and trying to ignore it.
anyone have clues for the lone w please?
Hubby is cleaning up the kitchen and kids are running wild.
Bummer, firefly. Headache begone!
i have the lone critter!
oh. *stops dancing and turns down lights* *offers cool washcloth and refreshing cool apple cider*
wo4/10 and w05/26
Wo4/10=wild animal...lone wo**
Thanks stiddy, but it isn't like a migraine. It just stabs and throbs directly at the site...movement is severely restricted for fear of increasing the stabs.
wo5/26=wo+joy*** joy*** we adore thee...
But only use the joy*** once...lol
oh, I see -- do you have any trigger points on your face/jaw? Or does smiling/breeze on the face make it worse? (My grandmother had a condition that was like that)
thanks for the w5 jilly
Wow, that would have taken me a while to find! Thanks, Jill!
Thank morewords...a godsend with this littel grids!
But I still think chai should be a word!!
Just when I move my head or change from standing to sitting and vice versa.
it IS a word, and a durn good one, too
Great grammar! "godsend with this little grid
oh gee firefly, I am so sorry. Those kinds of head aches are rough.
These puny grids cause brain atrophy
and now that you have pointed it out jilly, I shall not be able to stop trying it... *sigh*
sorry stid...
Fa6/7 clue?
Thanks stid ;)
I think it's is the country where you are really really fond of a scifi series or character, sue
Fa6/7=where groupies live
think what you cool your house off with fa* + alternate spelling for not really smart; then plural of course
Got it, thanks!
Must listen to second grader read me her chapter book, night all.
sweet dreams, firefly *gentle hugs*
Night firefly! Feel better!
NIters firefly..hope that listening helps the headache
Stiddy, I just read firefly's profile.....I have sent a Reiki prayer for healing to her.....Nef does Reiki also. If you see her before I do, perhaps you could ask her to "send" to firefly too. Thanks
So does Peri
brb
peach, I am just not online when they are these days, but if I remember I will let them know what you are doing.
She is just another example of how broken our medical system is.....
Thanks stiddy.
Thanks BabbleRabble, I don't think I knew that....peri, I mean. Thanks for telling me.
Another example of how those in the US prize killing people overseas rather than caring for those in need at home.
there are so many examples, jilly -- we are not one of them because we are lucky; I had a choice before I got pregnant to choose a less expensive per month plan or a slightly more expensive but more comprehensive one. I chose the more expensive one, and when I unexpectedly got pregnant, and that child was born with complications we were NOT saddled with the tens of thousands of dollars, just a few hundred for him and a couple for me. Otherwise, it would have been disastrous. I will be forever grateful to the friend who told me her story of how they had to declare bankruptcy after a premie was born to them...
So sadly true BR
Tell me about it...
And that is what scares me the worst....losing my job and not having insurance...
Yep uusue, you came to my mind....
yes, or having to self-pay when there are pre-existing conditions
Yep
Sc5/6?
a person who is ordinary, yiddish: joe sc*** and plural
Ah, missed that consonant hiding up top. Thanks!
LOL stid, I was clueing exactly the same thing!
snap, jilly! GMTA!
don't forget the sh variant (no plural on that one)
:-D

And congrats to all who have finished this grid! (I started before I went to work this AM; still not half way yet
WooT WooT WooT ga!!
YAY peach!

:-D glad to finish.
Hi sue; how's things going (esp. with Frank)?
WooT WooT WooT stid!!
Now I should get ready for bed. my feet hurt, and I sleep poorly on nights before kids I haven't met before. Tomorrow is just a half day, resource room work, which I enjoy but it's non-stop.
Night, stid!
(((stid))) take care.
Nef, I want to get caught up on news from your end of the world, but I think I will wait until next time except to ask if you and dh are overall doing okay??
*fluffs stids pillow and sprinkles lavender*
Frank is doing ok, nef, this will take a lot of getting used to
oh Jilly, you know just how to make things all better... *yawn*
stid, we are both hanging in there; both have surgeries in the near future (mine's just my hand; DH's will be spinal surgery at C4-C5
oh geez, nef -- I don't reiki, but you want to be on my list?
I forgot dh's surgery. :-(
Ah, good luck to him, nef! Neck surgery is scary.
I can imagine, sue. Is he on any meds yet?
But he's just on my list as a rule... LOL (((many hugs for nef household)))
I'll take prayers and healing thoughts from anywhere, stid! :-)
Yes, was on prednisone, just switching to a much more xpensive steroid.
okay, you're there, nef. My best wishes for you all - have a lovely evening/day/rest of the week. *poof*
which one, sue?
Hi nef
Stid; I think that since uusue met DH; she knows he's a keeper
Budesonide
niters, stid!
Hey Nef. Peach was here earlier and requested that you send some healing energy in Firefly's direction.
Hi Jilly. How are you?
Indeed he is, nef!
Molly, I came on and read that in chog and have done and will continue to do so.
Doing well, work's busy....looking foreward to our Hawaiin vacation-a neighbor offered their Kona condo to us, thus making the trip affordable
Ah, missed that. Very good.
WOW, Jillly!! How nice!
Nef, I've had c4/c5 fused, as well as c5/6 and c6/7. All went well. Will be thinking of your Frank.
love your icon, Molly. And totally agree!! :-)
Have a fabulous time in Hawaii, Jill! When do you go?
An we plan another trip to ma4/7 clinic next spring or summer...and I will ensure we get to meet each other!!
uusue, we will stay in Missoula on Halloween, fly out the next morning and come back on the 9th of Nov
jilly, make sure you get to the big island, even for a day, well worth the time, what hawaii is really like
Sue, DH had a C3 -C7 laminoplasty back in 2001. This will be something else (can't remember right now, a bit tired) to once again releave the pressure on the spine from his spinal stenosis.
Yes, we will catch a hop over to Oahu, probably stay overnight.
Jilly, if you do come this way; DO call and I'll come down!
You got it Nef!!
Well, the debate and I are both wearing down...I too am heading to bed...niters all!!
try to get to kawaii, look for the fern grotto ... I wanted to get married there last year, but, the spouse wouldn't commit to a destination wedding
Sounds like a great trip, Jill! Have a great time!
that sounds like a dream trip, Jilly. We haven't been able to go even 100 miles from home this year due to DH's back.
Thanks all *poof*
by all
niters Jilly!
are you leaving too welik?
weiik (sorry for the spelling error)
yes, need to get ready for bed to make it into work 2morow,
don't worry about spelling, that mistake became my tag here ....
I abbreviate mostly anyway
poof
niters, weiik
did I put everyone to sleep already? Sorry for dominating the chog again. :-\
Nef, you couldn't put people to sleep if you tried. And you never dominate chat.
LOL! I just talk a lot...
hi folks
I was listening to the debate on my drive home and DH had it on TV. The part I heard sounded really good; I hope the whole debate was also
hi welki
good quote, molly - oscar wilde
the debate, to me, was frustrating - tired of yelling at the television, "Answer the friggin' question!"
but i put my absentee ballot in the mail yesterday, so i feel good about that
The moderator seemed to make them answer questions while I was listening at the end. Wasn't she doing that at first?
hi
she was a decent moderator, it's a difficult job
hi herin
I share that frustration, welki. "How much is 2 + 2?" "Well, let me tell about numbers and additions and math and all this other stuff that ISN'T the answer"
howdy
i thought she controlled the candidates as well as could be expected
Thanks Welki. It's a variation on Wilde. He said life is too important to be taken seriously. Same message, different word I guess.
hi herin! How are you?
good
ahhh - i read it incorrectly, my mistake
herin? what are sweet potato fritas?
I thought that (what I heard of this debate) this was very different than the first one. Then again, I listened to the first one on the radio (I was driving across the Cities) and I'm assuming that hearing the first one was vastly different than seeing it (as with the Nixon/Kennedy debates)
umm Yummy :D
I will see if there is a recipe
the two debates were vastly different - i like the town hall venue
I liked it too
I try to ignore the debates, they just upset me, but Frank likes to watch them
Sweet Potato or Kumar hash browns basicly
Anyway I am off for the night, see you all tomorrow!
do you yell at the TV, sue? ;-) I do at times (which is why I'm more likely to listen and not watch)
will google them - don't know what either are *Lol*
wonderful. i google it - the recipe says, "two large kumara." what the heck are kumara?!?!
Night Sue
You know the orange potato?
sweet potato (kumara
fyi - kumara: a place in new zealand, a sweet potato, a yam, a blend of merino and camel hair .... herin? i think it's a sweet potato :)
like i know what it is called world wide. there will be a recipe up next month
it's those darned miles between us - but boyhowdy, even after all these years on the net, i still think it's pretty remarkable that we get to "talk"
I like the name Kumara; sounds so smooth (I also like yams and sweet potatos
(and i'm still listening to that gotye song - it's like a a drug, "somebody that i used to know.")
kumara - sounds like a silk or fig
I like the Eskimo Joe cover of Somebody I used to know OR the Star Wars Parody
it just has a lovely feeling in the mouth when you say it! :-)
check out this version, herin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH1_9FW\nux4g
(listening to eskimo joe)
If you can look up Hot Problems on youtube, SO funny and appropriate. http://tinyurl.com/cndpoe7
ohhhh, good guitar - the song is so fine, just about anyone could sing it
anyway, i'm off for the evening - thanks for the convo, sweet dreams and g'day, everyone!
Night Welki
niters, welki!
I'm giving myself 20 more minutes here; I need to be up by 6A at the latest (for clinic) and haven't been sleeping well this week.
Take care Nef
you too, herin. I miss our chats; but just not much time lately. :-(
That is ok
I keep thinking things will settle down soon. It will happen, I know!
ulama
OOOPS! PB for me!
