well my poor gramma was raped by the 35 year old man she babysat for, so that was not fun, but my mom came of that. Her husband died when she was 23 leaving her to raise 3 kids alone. then she met my dad and his 4 and they had one together. She was 24 and a mother of 8. fun fun lol

my dad died 16 years ago and mom has been like me, single since and helping raise my brothers kids. My husband left me over 20 years ago and I raised mine alone and now helping to raise their kids

not yet, they are going to have their pathologists look at his slides
apparently the most important thing is that his cancer is poorly differentiated
this means it is quite aggressive and hard to treat, and very likely to recur even with chemotherapy and biological therapy (both of which they are recommending)
the chemo/bio treatment can be done locally, the U of C docs will consult with our local docs about that
So very sorry uusue, how is Frank doing with this news?
but if/when it recurs there is another treatment they can do during surgery where they pour chemo directly into his abdomen, this gets rid of the cancer in about 30% of cases

we asked for a prognosis, which is of course a guess, but the doctor said he'd be very surprised if Frank survives 10 years, and surprised if he survives five
so we are assimilating this, and deciding to live every day to the fullest, and fight with all we've got

Sally is absolutely right, there are many people living long past their Drs. guesstimation. My BIL is one, he was given five years to live a little over 10 years ago.
Between five and ten years is not a poke in the eye with a sharp stick either.
5-10 would be good. The doc said 2-3 was more likely. So we are determined to be a surprise.

good. my biggest problem seems to be keeping my groups focused on the task at hand and not worrying about someone else doing whatever.
It rained a little off and on all day and it was cold and windy
oh oh oh! I had that ALL DAY yesterday, but really bad in the afternoon -- primary grade that one, they were so focused on what other people weren't doing right that they weren't doing their own work... grumpy Mrs. S made them ALL put their heads on the desk and BE QU5 for 60 seconds.
I did find it helped some of those students to encourage them to model the best behavior.

My "threat" was to send them back to class early so the classroom teacher knew they were misbehaving. This time period (next 2 weeks) is just hard to get through regardless of age at the elementary level
that's a reasonable threat. And yes, all the experienced teachers were saying things like "full moon" and "weather change" and the principal mentioned "impending holidays"
