Night ruru :)

me too I got up early to enjoy my last day on earth
lady in flat below me was supposed to have hip replaced two weeks back: two days before op, hospital rang and said "can't do, you have already had a broken leg"?!! turns out local records computerised wrongly for a broken toe at age 16. But they still haven't done the op. Bad.
ru, why not stay up and watch the end
scouser, how awful.
lol flosey
tomorrow I'll make ham sandwiches with mayannaise
I worked for a doctors' practice some years back and did that job of "computerising the records."
lol - live dangerously
ooh, yum...hey everyone, lunch at ruru's tomorrow.
ruru lovely pun
<<---mister on the edge
mysteron?
thanks scouser
having said it can't remember what Mysterons were? Was it in Dan Dare?
I roasted a chicken tonight with veggies.. came out nice
Crying 96 tears?
yes torg... that's right
sounds good ru, something we seldom do with chicken and I love it
night
lol, night again
Captain Scarlet, da da da da da Scouser
morning all
hi Glan
just a little babble before work - new experience for me today i am taking the bus to work :-)
oh oh, going to do a ru - "where will you put it"
groan..... in the bus station, of course
ru just went to bed, couldn't resist it
darn it, i missed him, he always makes me smile
hey glant
thanks Glan It was the Mekon in Dan Dare. Showing my age!
i loved the Mysterons, but don't remember Dan Dare - heard of him but don't remember him
It was a 1950s comic for boys but my dad bought it for me! Dan Dare had space adventures.
It was called "The Eagle"
I think Captain Scarlet may have started my love of Sci Fi LOL
and if you were a girl you were supposed to read "The Girl". !
Think The Eagle was still going in the 60s! I know I saw it as a kid!
so i would have liked Dan Dare, guessing you are probably just a few years older than me
More. I'm 68.
If you were a girl when i was little you read Bunty, then Jackeie
but I read the Dandy and Beano
I'd forgotten about Jackie! Loved Beano! But def into Jackie as I got older!
One of those last two has just finally printed its last issue - but I think it has gone digital. There was a requiem for it on Radio4.
well, I've done my first walk through the grid, down to 42 and better move myself if I am to catch this bus, back later, when the weekend will have started, thankfully!
Have a good day :)
I've got 16 left and must get on as grandchild will wake up soon. Happy Christmas to all.
Have a good day :)
anyone here who can advise me on how to address a problem with mother mac? she has developed 'old lady smell'. she has a shower with a carer 3 times per week. the other 4 days she is supposed to just have a hand wash at the basin. the smell is becoming very bad. don thought something had died under her bedroom, and he doesn't have a good sense of smell.
oh dear, rose, that's a nasty one
i know, flosey. the smell makes me nauseated. i can't work in the laundry. her daughter can't smell it. so i can't ask her to help. she would very affronted to think her mum smells.
and how horrible to have to sit at a meal table
i was thinking of asking her care-co-ordinator if the funds are there for an extra 3 showers/week.
does daughter really not notice it? or is it that she doesn't want to take any action
yes rose, by all means do it
explain to them how difficult it is to live with it
daughter simply cannot smell it. she is a hairdresser, and the chemicals she has worked with all her life have destroyed her sense of smell
well, what a blessing, perhaps Mom could live with her?
rofl....yeah right! mother mac says living with me is like living with a doctor. pls daughter does not live just around the corner from a hospital, as we do.
is it that she perhaps needs pampers (or whatever it is you call the adult ones)
no, i don't think so....mother mac has become physically unable to attend to 'down there'
oh dear, rose, I hear you, we had a relative who would drop in and I could definitely not ask her to stay for dinner - wouldn't be able to eat. She seemed totally unaware - and believe it or not, was a nurse
HAD BEEN, I should have said
flosey, need to go, dinner ready. could you please email me perhaps? could go on with this on-line later
sure rose, hope you can enjoy dinner
night, dear friend. for now
night rose, and hugs
please could i have a clue for the 7 and 8
to halt + a sheet in a book
thanks dianne, never heard of that before
YW - I've heard of it in regard to work.
fa6/7, fa4 + electric or *** cooker for 7, the 6 is the singular form
missing one st5 - I have the halted one and the smash your foot on one. What's the last one?
the world didn't end so I may as well play ...........morning all!!!!!
Good morning, could I get a clue for af6, please?

we drove out TO michigan one year in a blizzard with non functioning wiper fluid... you manage.

good afternon all. finished work and just come back to the grid - immediately saw 5 words i couldn't see at all 6 hours ago - how does that work?
Good morning, Babblers. And Merry Mayan Apocolypse!
Wishing you happiness for the season and beyond Judi
Ah, come on now, fest is not in the Babble dictionary? Hello.
I've bee trying it fairly frequently recently cos I can't believe that either :-)
The choices of words seem rather arbitrary....that does bother me. Also including foreign words is disturbing and seems to disallow many from completing grids.
Glad I'm not that ambitious and can settle for simply getting as many words as I can and enjoying that. Otherwise, it would make me NUTS.
manyn foreign words - especially spanish ones, which I never remember because spanish isn't spoken here as a rule
I have to finish it LOL
there are soem very odd words today - I am close to finishing so have resported to morewords here and there
Bless you, G....and may you be able to preserve your sanity.
and my typing is terrible
I find it endearing when people misspell words in chat...makes me know I'm not the only flawed individual in the world!!
actually, i have realised today that thanks to babble my vocabulary now includes all sorts of strange words which i have no idea of how to pronounce or what they mean :-)
I just know them because they a re repeated in the grids
To me, perfect is only a concept that doesn't exist in reality. However, improvement and evolving are always good things.
As the arabs say 'only Allah is perfect' - thye even go so far as to include a deliberate imperfection in things so that they remain imperfect
No effort required from me for imperfection!!
Me neither, although I always strive to do my best
I enjoy the grid but I'm mainly here every day because I really like the community of people...very special.
hello...may I have the stats for the af6 please
what exactly is wrong with 'stonk'? We often say 'that's a stonking great (insert noun here)', never realised it wasn't a real word
af6/27
first 3 letter are rear of ship
ty
Just found out afton isn't allowed either...."flow gently sweet afton.."
Morning folks
Mornin' Bob.
Morning Mr Bob
Finally. NBS & NBT. 5 left to find.
I'm lucky if I get half but I bask in my underachievement!
I don't even work the monkeys very hard...

Good Morning Everybody. How are you all on this fine, cold, sunshiny day?
Hello from me. It is cold and early evening here but still in good spirits. Just marzipaned my christmas cake. How's you?
doing okay. you marzipaned your cake? I've never heard of that before. Was it lots of work?
Made cake a few weeks ago, then I marzipan it before icing it. Stops the oils from the cake seeping through to the icing.
Ahh1 I was thinking Way off then! :-D I was imagining little marzipan flowers, animals etc. (Can you tell I'm not much of a baker or chef? :-)
Nor am i!! Just read your profile, I had a hip replacement 6 years ago, took a while but now it is great.
Mine healed great; I've had no problem with it at all. I just had thumb/hand surgery the beginning of November and that's taking longer to heal (I think)
Think all surgeries affect us differently. My hip one took over 6 months to heal, others done in 6 weeks. Maybe it is the same with your hand? At least it is done, now comes the being patient part....
Yeah. Being patient is tough this year... DH had 3 back surgeries (the last was a cervical fusion 3 1/2 weeks ago and I had hoped to be doing better for his sake by now.
But the hand therapists say I'm doing well for 6 weeks out; so I need to believe them and keep going! :-) I do my exercises etc. ASAP
errr as much as possible.

long day and very late start
is anybody here?
Just got on, hello ruby!
Short day and early start.. ;)
hello hello. I guess the world didn't end after all!
Guess not...plus from this day forth the days are longer! Important for those living in winter country!
and today was my father's birthday
((hugs))
I've lit a candle even though he's been gone a long time
Mine's been gone 13 years and I think of him and still miss him often.
my dad died in 2001, in NY, but before the catastrophe
my mother has been gone longer than that and I miss her EVERY day
at least he, as a very old man, got to visit us in France
I still have my mom, she's 92 and going strong! It's nice.
you are very fortunate!
Yep...but I was closer to my Dad, he and I are very much alike. But God has his reasons, this has enabled me to improve my relationship with my Mom.
that's a good way to look at it
a gift of time
And one of my sons hugs me just like Dad used, so that helps.
that was a quick half; the good company helped!
LOL, not even close..you are faster than me :-)

Does anyone know where smores is? I'm missing her so much!!
hello everyone :)
Hi, nan!
Hello mimi, I haven't been on the last two days...so I havent seen smores.
Hi nan!
Molly...are you around?
Heya Jill, what's up?
Hi, Jilly! Haven't seen smores here in several days...the mom in me is starting to worry.
Mimi was asking about smores
i thought i saw her a couple days ago. holidays and all, she could just be out shopping
hi again everyone.
Ni, Nef!
Hello nef! We are talking about smores...have you seen her on lately?
how are you doing? How's everyone doing?
Leslie, if you see her on again, please ask her to email me at my address in the profile so I know she's OK. I'm now checking several times a day for her.
Jilly; I haven't been on much lately either. But I was here in the evening yesterday and earlier today and didn't see her yet
actually i just went back and checked, she hasn't been on since the 10th.
why, Mimi? Is something wrong?
I know she works nights sometimes. Wow---since the 10th!! Now I'm really worried. Is there a way for someone to contact her? No, nothing really wrong, Nef, it just isn't like her to be gone like this.
Dang...now my mother radar is up...certainly hope she's just gone somewhere for the holiday
Didn't mean to worry you, Jilly, but smores was my first friend here and I've grown attached to her and her adorable personality.
aww
Well, it's just that I am fond of her as well.
If I contacted Dr. God, could she get in touch with her?
Hey, something as easy as the Holidays and maybe computer problems can cause absences
he's probably got her email on file, but i don't think he's in the habit of contacting users for others
saw smores on a couple of afternoons ago
guess it was more than that if she hasn't been on since the 10th
heck, i was gone for a few years once
On the bright side, when I first started I quit playing for a bit...until harpjane told me everyone was asking about me..
:-)
jilly do you know harp in real life?
If you see her again, nan, would ask her to email me at the address on my profile so we won't worry? I'll contact Dr. God anyway and ask....no harm.
they live in the same town, lA
ah.
LA
Yes LeslieAnn, we are friends. She got me into Babble
I think they are real life friends too
<-----!!FW!!
oh it is fun when i find out people are all interconnected
If I find out anything about smores I'll post it at several times of the day.
nice work jilly!
YAY, JILLY!!!
Holiday time is usually pretty busy for people who work and have young kids.
Are you on FB mimi, we have community page there
YAY, Jilly! Funny how fast you can get FW if you don't chat all the time! ;-)
lots of little easy words today, and pl

I didn't see smores on the list of babble names in our FB page
don't know why putting links in the chat adds a random \n in the middle now
I know we chatted about the FB page once
That long link isn't going to work. For some reason, chat
inserting a random /n into urls posted
Well LA seems to have escaped the long url debaccle
It's also blowing the chat width.
*!* ta da *!* - a lot of babblets and stupid pt's today
Thanks, ladies. Guess I shouldn't be so concerned but the heart attack I had earlier this year made me really stop taking people for granted.
WooT WooT WooT nan!!
nice work nan
It's ok mimi...that's how we all are here. We have lost babble buddies in the past...
YAY, Nan!!! WTG!!!
Hooray, nan! I'm going to check FB now and if no luck will contact Dr. God. BTW, I'm fond of all of you as well.
molly what browser are you using that's having issues with chat width
try checking in during the afternoon, mimi - if she is working nights that is probably when she babbles now
Chrome
And someone I thought was lost is now back again; after a coupple of years
hmm. i know dr. g. suggests firefox
or maybe jerks should just stop posting long URLs
I don't think it's a browser issue. Neither is the random /n
sorry for the typos; I've been typing too much now
I use Firefox so maybe that will help. Anyway, gone for a bit. Will post whatever I find out. HAGD all and good to talk to you.
kids arriving tomorrow - can't wait to get my hugs in with those 3 little ones! Must go and finish wrapping. hagd - back at the flip :)
bye mimi

bye Mimi and nan!
Well, I too must make hay while my boys are out skiing...hagd all..time to bake goodies and wrap presents...

hi y'all. It's been a long time since I was here. Good to see some familiar names :)
hey autumn!
Just got word from Dr. God who said it wasn't his/her place to get in touch with someone so we could tell if they are OK....h'mmmm.
Hello, zTink
hey BR
Hello
Hey, autumn! We have something in common. MANY years ago I used to party on Bobby Unser's houseboat!!
Hi Mimi. I wish I could have partied with you! That must have been fun
Suffice to say, due to the amount of alcohol consumed at the time, my memories are just a bit hazy!! But, yes, it was fun. I used to work pit crew just keeping stats.
had to break down and list for the last 7. ap6 is my last?
Leslie, did you see my response from Dr. God?
yes i did.
Mimi- that's so cool. we went to Bristol this year. Our first cup race
ah, ap + strike a ****. fireworks for me
OK. Will let Jilly know when next she's here. GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I used to do some amateur racing myself...just Porsche slaloms, but fun. Now I can't get my driver's license back until I pay off speeding tickets in two states!
This is how I see it...I've been driving since age 16. I am now 61. I have had NO accidents because no one can catch up to me. So, they should forgive the speeding tickets and give me a medal because I'm saving lives!!
Leaving again....back later for the smores hunt.
hi everyone can i have an easy clue for the fa6/7 i didnt get the other clue
fa7 = fa4 + petrol (for your car)
Hey, anyone know where John Wayne is? The NRA wants him to guard your kindergarten.

Apparently it's a word that means foot and mouth disease. I've never heard a doctor use it though.
hi all
when did miss little 2bit become twins?
af6 sounds like a sneeze
Good morning :)
hi liz
i am glad to see the world did not end now that it is tomorrow
I was about to say, so, we're all still here! Surprise!!!!
haha! well you know they were on this side of the planet so maybe we will still be surprised! haha
Wouldn't count on that!
i did learn today that the mayan calendar did not even stop on 12/21/12 much less predict the end of the world
not to worry i didn't go spend all my money thinking the end was near
No doubt, there are people who've made lots of money out of this!
mostly people who made t-shirts and postcards
Or people renting out rooms in a small village in France, so I believe!
really? what was the point of that?
A couple of my friends were quite freaked by the whole thing. I find that quite surprising. My husband just read out that some people paid 1000 UK pound to shelter in an underground bunker belonging to Josef Stalin!!!!
In this village in the Pyrenees, people expected aliens, who inhabit the jagged mountains, to board a spaceship and flee the earth!!!!
In the UK apparently, people converged on Stonehenge - but that could just be because of the solstice, and here they all headed to Byron Bay, just south of where I am. That's the most easterly point of mainland Aus!
I think that today, there are a lot of red-faced people around!
People gather at Stonehenge every year on Solstice. I don't think it had anything to do with the Mayan prediction (which wasn't really about the end of the world anyway) : D
Yes, I know that Molly - also at Byron Bay - but it was hyped up by the media and linked to the Mayan prediction, which wasn't really a prediction!
hi folks!
Hi welki :)
Also hi Molly :)
<-- knew the end of the world wasn't near since i owe too much money
lol :)
je? how many hours from dc to philly?
better yet - just checked amtrak - $100 round trip - maybe in february, if you're free, i can visit?
*talking to herself*
Well, I knew you weren't talking to me!
hehehe - if amtrak went to oz
that'd be fun!
liz, have you ever traveled to north america?
Yes, I have - I've been to Canada - to Toronto and Vancouver and to several places in the USA. Next year we're joining a tour (yuck to the tour bit but it was practical) of the Rockies and a cruise to Alaska
It's our big, once in a lifetime trip!
ohh that's right!! i think you mentioned you'd be going (somehow) through edmonton - offer stands - if you're in alberta, we can try to finagle a meet up!
Won't be in Edmonton - family lives near there, but are coming to meet us in Vancouver. It's all on a pretty tight schedule because it's a tour. But I hope to get back some time, when we'll be free agents.
I look at this as an introduction - I wanted my hubby to be free to look and photograph - not to have to worry about driving.
well you never know - closer to trip time, if you're up for it, let me know where you'll be and if we're in the same area at the same time, voila! a babble reunion!
Sounds great!
do you and your husband fish?
Yes - I've fished a few times here - never did in London. He loves fishing.
(okay, i admit it's a stretch - you said you're on a tight schedule, but if you flyfish, or even if you'd consider a charter boat, you're going to be in some wonderful country)
Big smiles from the other side of the room
we fished city lakes in victoria, bc and had a blast - and there's world class fishing just about anywhere in the provinces (bc and alberta)
I'm sure, if the opportunity arises ... Got to go now. Off for a walk before the rain starts. Lovely chatting :) bbl
and, if you happen to win a small lottery in the meantime, we have a very nice fishing boat and would be happy to have you as our guests
bye, liz - tell your husband, "tight lines"
Will do :) Bye
the small lottery = more time in canada (not that you'd have to pay us a small fortune! LOL)
bye
lol! We've extended as much as possible - wish we could extend further!!!! Really going now! Bye :)
yikes! If Lizlin is still around... quick meetup for coffee/dinner while she is in BC?
and hello all
and hey welki, I guess Canada didn't fall of the earth either... :-)

what are the candles for jilly?
Advent....
Thankfully, no one has died...
advent what?
Although we all have been discussing that we haven't seen smores...hasn't been on since the 10th...
I saw that conversation earlier, Jilly -- given her work schedule and all I wouldn't be too concerned this time of year. Massive shipping push until Dec 24.
I'm sure she's fine.. probably just busy
You mean babblers have lives?
I haven't run her off yet with my sicko humor or bad puns
some do jilly.. some do.. and some don't
um, well I can't speak for other babblers, but I have side excursions... though not a "life" per se
I can't talk about my side excursions here
Hi. I'm just starting and see that there is a discussion of life. I vote yes.
if you peek at my blog jilly you'll see what I have done the last few days.
Hello there stidgmere (((hugs))
hi folks
Hi jilly and rurur and mamaa.
*sheeplishly* can you give me that link again stid?

Hello, Wht.
So I guess the world didn't end today.
*Ties fingers up*
hey wht
gotta go. down to 33, not bad for a Friday. *poof*
I ran a race today, and the medal was the Myan calendar. And I'm still here! ;)
*giggles*
I have all my Christmas presents bought and wrapped. It would have been such a waste if the world had ended before Christmas.
Me too! Most organized I 've been in forever.
nothing like the world ending to get you to clean up the sock drawer
Don`t worry i amsure there will be another end of the world prediction soon..lol
yeah probably from that whacko in Oakland
Hey, if the world had ended we wouldn't be hearing anything more about the fiscal cliff.
fiscal smishcal
Good gosh did not realize the time was 1:20am...time for shut eye..bye for now.
hi, are we all still here?
I really don't want to think about that. Stupid posturing on both sides. I'd much prefer to look forward and be done with it.
and what are the stats for the top n?

Hi, all. Does anyone know if smores is OK? She hasn't been on for quite awhile and I'm concerned. I know she was working nights but I've looked for her several times during the day with no luck.
no6.24, as an officer
thanks seain
ruur works for me too harp..lol
i think she changed her name mimi
Are you serious? Do you know what it is?
yes
yes
Slesses
Very funny. I'm actually worried, ruru.
slesses, that is not as sweet a name as smores
sorry..I couldn't pass up on that one.. she's probably busy with the holidays mimi.. i'm sure she's fine
fa7 is a new one for me
I asked others earlier and was told she hasn't been here since the 10th---don't know how they know that. But it doesn't seem like her to just not show up. My mom radar is working overtime.
I even asked Dr. God if she could be contacted and let her know we're worried but DG said it wasn't her/his place to do so.
I think Dr. God threw some old, moldy words into the grid today on the theory that they wouldn't be missed if the world ended.
LOL wht
but it didn't end
hi all
Hello, jmc!
So we're stuck with them for at least another baktun.
Hi jmc
however long a baktun is
I think Dr. God understands boundaries mimi
I think DG OVER understands boundaries.
what's a baktun?
well the one time people worried about someone it kinda got out of control . . . the police were called and then they came on the chog and everyone got quiet and panicked and it was all a big ta-do over nothing. . .
Well, if any of you see smores on again, please have her or someone let me know are my email address in my profile, please. With that, I'm gone.
A baktun is a Mayan unit of time. I think it is 144,000 days, but I am not sure.
will do mimi. . .try not to worry and have a good evening
plenty of police in the chog jmc
wow that is a hell of a lot of days!
oh thanks wht.. never heard that before
were you here that night ru?
As a message board owner I can tell you that it is not Dr. God's place to be a go between. It's kind of an internet etiquette thing.
Whoa, really, jmc? That's taking it a bit far. I only wanted DG to let her know we are concerned. Oh, well...I'll try not to worry.
you mean shady? jm?
yes I was here
the police from the Isle of Wright came on the chog and asked to be contacted. . .
oh.. no.. I wasn't here for that one
when the police came on line the chog. . . which had been hopping. . .got completely still for about 10 minutes
I remember that. It was interesting, to say the least.
Guess I'm just being selfish....I miss her.
mimi.. some people come and go here for a while.
mostly they pop in from time to time.
i finally told them the person was apparently all right and they said that since an investigation had been opened they had to speak to the person to close it. . .
next time you see her mimi make sure you get her email so you can contact here directly
i must have missed this one jm.. was this regarding Nancy Boy?
no no this was someone else. . . i will email you if you want to know who. . .no sense dredging up embarrassing moments for people
Wow....interesting chog!!
OK...goodnight all. Thanks anyway. Hi and bye, Jilly!!
goodnight mimi
See you l8r mimi!
I know what JMC is talking about. I think the point she is trying to make is that unless you know for a fact that something is wrong with someone, there is no point sounding alarm bells.
I probably don't need to know.. especially if they're okay now
it was a couple of years ago and they are fine
yes molls that is the point
that's good enough for me then
hello jmc!
i'm glad
hi jilly!
i need a clue for dummikes for the bottom row n please
and for the top row N too
no6/24
nu 4
is the top
And that is why someone like Dr God would stay away from that sort of thing since there are too many cans of worms that are best left unopened.
no6/24=term for military rank not an officer
The bottom n is a plebe army rank
clearly there is a problem with the definition of a "clue for dummies" here
Exactly, Wht.
ty ty
ugh what a visual a can of worms
LOL jmc....
*tightens all available lids*
nbt finally
term comes from fishing...kids would put their worms in a can....
Fireworks.
Except the one on the Jack bottle, right?
WooT WooT WooT wht!!
I think that is tequila, Molly.
Got that right molly!
Oh yeah, worms...tequila...my bad.
ACtually, tonight it will be a pint of Cold Smoke (local scottish ale)
{hands Molly a marguerita to cheer her up}
A whole pint? Whoo hoo, Jill gone wild.
Thanks Wht, although I wasn't aware I was in need of cheering. *Slams margarita*
*cleans up salt all over the floor*
...friggin' lime wedges....
*Gets out Mexican hat, for dancing*
ha
talk about sombrero over the rainbow
It's a Not the End of the World Fiesta.
really I thought we were toast-ada today
really I thought we were toast-ada today
chili today, hot tamale
wht has lost touch of relleno... ooops reality
You are assuming I was ever in touch with reality... but rellenos are another matter.
@ Molly....it was a week that deserved TWO pints...
I would never assume that. I know better. : P
Well by all means Jill, let down your hair and go for the gusto.
Reality is overrated....
For my skiiers, I made a big pot of chicken vegetable soup tonight. Was rewarded with my son exclaiming as he entered the house..."Wow, something really smells GOOD". And he's eating his 3rd bowl...
There is nothing like someone who notices the good smells of what you are cooking and says something about it.
He told me he could smell it in the garage!
Sounds like you are enjoying having your boy home.
Did you hear the watermelon joke? It's pitful.
*groans* Hi there BR....
Yes I am Molly...just can't believe he is 30...
I went into permanent denial once my older two hit 30.
Lovely river that is...Denial...LOL
hi all!
Uusue!! (((hugs)))
hi jill!
firewords here - af6 was my last. tx all cluers!
*waves to Pam*
Good Evening again. Looking around here; I think there's a party going on! :-)
WooT WooT WooT dan2
yay dan!
brb
YAY, dan2!!! WTG!!!!
and hi to dan, nef, and ruru!
hi sue
hi sue. How's it going?
ok; Frank had a bout of nausea tonight but seems to be a little better now
I bet the chemo is tough
(((Sue and Frank)))
he was actually ok until about an hour after they disconnected the pump, go figure, but this is only the first treatment
DH came home with a bunch of emesis bags (unused; just so you know!) that were in his room. I had a migraine recently and those things work so much better than the emesis basins!
ah, right now we just have a basin, but it's easy to rinse (and I know the bags but we don't have any)
next time he goes in, ask for a couple "for the trip home" ;-)
they are disposable
will do :-)
(the trip home is all of about 10 minutes, of course...)
(((Sue and Frank and Nef and Frank))) hey again all
have resorted to Lickety, going to try to finish
hi stid!
Hey, what happened to the tequila and the dancing? Why are we talking about barf basins? : O
well, if you have too much tequila ...
Hello, Sue and stid. Sue, good to hear Frank is hanging in there.
(((BR)))
hi, BR! it's just the beginning, but they have lots of good drugs if he needs them
Well, good night all. Happy Babbling.
night, wht!
sweet dreams wht
good night, wht.
Hi BR. Are you staying warm these days?
Yes, Nef. Pretty mild here.
Stid, about wellness: http://www.definitionofwellness.com/
Count your blessings! I take it you missed the snow too?
No, I wasn't even aiming for it.
that's a great definition, BR, thanks!
:-P pretty funny, BR
We had all kinds of winter weather warnings, wound up with 0.7" of snow. It was pretty windy, though.
I prefer a little snow to wind...
snow I can handle .... the wind and ice are the challenges
we had less than half an inch; but just 10-15 miles south they had blowing snow and poor visibility at times.
Was talking to a friend in Michigan ... forty mph winds with gusts and glare ice
yuk! Not for me; I'm glad I didn't get it.
hm. monkeyed my last word, the AF 6
YAY, stid!!! WTG!!!
thanks Nef
how's your hand feeling???
I guess I'll list now; I've been staring at this grid way too long and not finding anymore words.
sore. But I've been doing too much again so whata should I expect? This whole "getting ready for Christmas" thing sure puts pressure on me.
I just realized *I* amd "the matriarch" this week. We always had someone older who had that title
wow nef... did you get extra gray hairs to commemorate the occasion? *wicked mama look*
LOL! I'm either giving me more or pulling all my hair out; can't decide which tonight
I am glad we don't observe those days, it saves so much time and pain...
I'd like to do it like when I was young; but I don't have enough relatives to help! :-)
May I please have a clue for ge5-14 the 1st? Thanks
When my children were little I used to enjoy getting them fun items for special days -- we don't have the money now... we tend to get one item for the whole family once or twice a year and that's good enough.
it's a babblet. GE*ius (smart person) + **w your boat down the stream
and hello peach
Hi there, stidmama. Thanks so much for the clue.
yw peach
Hi
Hi there, herin.
HI
stid; it isn't the buying, spending, etc. that I miss. I miss the family gatherings. My Grandma lived with the aunt and uncle who raised me and Gram had 8 other kids besides my Mom (who'd died). So holidays Everyone came Home and I had 56 1st cousins on that side of the family; it was chaotic; fun, busy, and very wonderful!
hi herin
HI
It must have been wonderful, Nef. Great memories.
I hated family get-togethers as a child, Tom's mother used to have dinners when most of her kids lived in a 100 mile radius but they made me uncomfortable. I don't like large groups. But Mother used to love family get-togethers when she was a child. I guess it depends what you grew up with.
We used to have family gatherings like that when I was a kid.
hi herin and peach!
HI
It was and they are great memories. I remember being 9 or so and we had 5 of us girl cousins sleeping across a double bed. And my uncle would always pretent to shoot Santa (he was a very lousy shot; too!
LOL what a funny uncle
Hi there, Sue. Are things better today?
he was very different like that. Usually didn't have much of asense of humor (that we could tell) but hewas pretty funny at Christmas
FW Monkeyed the last one.
YAY peach!
YAY, Peach!! WTG!!!
hi peach, Frank got his pump disconnected and then had a pretty bad nausea attack; seems better now
and yay peach!
Can I please wish you all a safe holiday season.Since I am of a Christian background I wish you all Merry Christmas and Blessings be (from my pagan side)
Oh Nef, you'll appreciate this -- my best friend's brother had his lungs replaced two days ago and is already breathing on his own and awake.
One of the McCoy women (Hatfield's and) married my foster mom's bro
Good for him, stid!
Indeed, yes -- we are so glad he is doing well so far.
wow peach... what an interesting connection!
O Stid that is wonderful. It is so sad when someone passes but so wonderful they passed the gift of life to someone else
Lady, I hope you had a marvelous solstice. It was sunny here, a true blessing for us.
We used to do lung transplants in the ICU I worked in; they were always so sick going in to surgery. Recovery was very rocky at times; but if any came back to see us afterwards we usually didn't recognize them since they looked so good after recovery
Thanks Stidy
I haven't seen him in years, but I remember him as a strong, healthy young marine. My hope is he will again be strong and healthy. He has so many years ahead of him (he's several years younger).
One of my internet friends had MS and she never got her lung transplant so I think it is wonderful to pass this on to someone else. Thank you to any family that donates.
OK, that wasn't worded correctly.....One of the McCoy woman's daughter married into my foster mom's family. They had too darned many children that were (strage). I always wound up in the back of a truck with them on the way to grandma's house.
Sending healing wishes his way too, stid.
Some of the tales are kind of funny now but they sure weren't when they were happening.
It is a miracle that now people who die suddenly can still contribute to improving the lives of others. We will be forever grateful to the person and family who arranged for the organs to be donated.
Ohh! Can you share a story or memory with us now, peach?
yes, please?
My kids have signed donor cards since they were 5 or 6. I cared for the first lady with the Jarvik 7 artificial heart and my son saw it. That machine filled the whole ante room
I always make sure my driver's license says donor.
wow Nef! that's amazing
WOW
mid-1980's. That seems like such a long time ago. We've come a long way since then
OK, Nef. One of the older boys took it upon himself to make sure I didn't fall out of the truck (it had sideboards) we were packed in there like young sardines....anyway this same boy wouldn't leave me alone and I would scream for his father to make him leave me alone.....and his father would come out and get a limb (no lie) and chase him and whomp him with it.....it worked for awhile but I knew I had to ride with him to get back home.....LOL
For some strange reason my back is completely having a sad today
Gosh, peach! That doesn't sound like a "good" memory!
Does weather affect your back, herin?
Never happened before.
My grandma made great biscuits, so I guess the crap I had to take to get there was worth it....kind of. The blackberry cobblers were, oh, so good.
YUM! Blackberry coblers sound divine!
Herin, is it ok for me to send you some positive energy? It is like praying. Nef does this too.
My cousins used to play hide and seek with me then sod off to the creek to catch tadpoles
Or sit on me and fart on me. They were charming boys
herin, did you sleep wrong or move wrong?
Thank you yes please GA
Nef, I hope it is alright to volunteer you too.
I would say the bus ride did me in. I usually sit in the disabled spot to stretch out but it didn't feel right to do so around Christmas
LOL, herin! We could be nasty kids too! My youngest brother was 6 years younger than me and us older kids used to play "let's run away from David!"
no; that's fine and I'm sendingtoo.
I still rag on my cousins about that.
*puts lady on my list*
brb, need to help DH
My cats are being awfully quiet. It is a bit of a woorry
back now
Maybe they know you aren't feeling well?
Maybe they got worn out chasing the toy mouse on the strin
I'm going to watch the news now. See y'all at the flip. Thanks for all the help.
niters, peach. Take care! And Happy Holidays if I don't see you again this next week
sweet dreams peach
sorry, Matthew called and I had to talk to him. He did okay in his college classes this past quarter (which was not a given) so he is feeling relieved.
Wonderful news,stid!
Will he be home for winter break?
Have a great Day. I have tyo go
bye, herin> Take care of yourself!
later lady
He doesn't live at home any more, Nef. He goes to the local community college and is living with a family friend closer to town.
How is that going for both him and you?
I have to head out -- will "see" you in Words later?
Hi all :)
possibly. I'm pretty tired myself tonight and may go to bed as soon as the laundry is done
hi Lizlin

Is minly Molly mainly around ?
Mostly mostly here but mostly not...
And what exactly is semi-poof? So many questions, so few answers.
Semi-poof? That's new to me.
Lol
A semi-poof is a demitasse partially full of semi-soft half and half ..
Oh, I was wrong. I thought it was one of those people who can't quite let the gas out.
mostly ..
A one cheek semi-poof?
semi poof?
is that anything like a faux poof
You guys are mostly funny!
Semi poof...here but not really here...mostly weird stuff.
Thanks for the semi-compliment, Mostly min ..
she's partial to you torg
A semi-poof as not quite a full poof higher or lower than the original poof - Poof sharp or poof flat ..
I'm mostly fading quickly. I must go and fall mostly asleep.

Glad you enjoyed the sandwich. Oysters give me the geebies.
*barfs*
oh my sister and i were both saying how much we love oysters so that is why we ate lunch there when i went to pick up my christmas goose
it's a long, long, long story jm..
christmas goose?
*sits down and picks up crocheting* I have time ru
Oy, I need a Tagamet. Oysters and greasy goose.
it involves massive amounts of tequilla and pickled oysters jm
not a great combo.. mostly
wow! i guess you won't eat tamales for christmas eve either
haha i see ru. . .
it's a funny story.. i'll tell you personally when we meet someday
a little split pea soup then?
I'm buying a place in SF sometime next year
No, tamales would not be my first choice for Christmas eve dinner.
one thing though jm
actually with the goose there will be mango, melon, and jicima salad with raspberry vinigar, roasted root veggies with rosemary, goose, bread, and pecan pie for dessert
Back for a few minutes again. Are you guys poking fun at mystatement about being mostly gone? It really wasn't good grammar, was it?
what ru?
We won't be meeting for coffee
i am innocent i was mostly making fun of ru and torgie . . . i never knew what started it
<---Knew it was coming. Was waiting for the dropl.
Or the drop
what kind of place ru? house? restaurant?
don't sweat it nef.. I semi-felt like I should mostly keep up partially with Torg
both
tamales is a traditional christmas eve dinner in Texas
neato. . . i keep hoping to get to SF. . . it is in my top 3 favorite places to visit
LOL! I wasn't sweating it, ru. after I hit return and saw it; I realized it looked odd; but no one called me on itt hen..
I could go for some tamales right now ..
more fun to tease you behind your back nef!
Be sure to wear, some flowers in your hair.
I mostly hardly ever do some things halfway ..
i have finally found a place in DC that makes decent mexican tamales. . . oddly enough it is the Safeway
I kind of agree with that torg more or less
yes it's a lot better to tease people when they are not here
And I told someone recently I was "mostly, probably retired; or at least 3/4ths there...."
How do we love Nef? Let us count the ways. Hooray for someone who can take a joke!
<---loves Nef
:-D
i refuse to be retired! *stomps foot*
<---likes normal fun people...mostly
You and Sue, Nef. I can't keep up with the "sort of, but not really" retired people. : D
where have you met normal people ru?
I have mostly loved Nef for probably somewhat longer than at least half the people here ..
ROFL jm.. probably never
don't look at me
but then I"ve never been to Nebraska
Not here, that's for sure.
hey everyone, cannot sleep,so here I am
i was wondering. . . because if you were going to claim you met them in babbleland i was oging to have to call the men with the ne**
mostly ..
I like nebraska and their sandhill cranes
hi peri
*Don't look* JMC is oging again.
oging??
hahahahaha i c
jmc, I'm physically retired but mentally not. My body is wearing out from heavy duty nursing for so many years. I spent 34 years in ICU, and turning and boosting heavy patients (predominently 200+ lb. men around has taken it's tole
Hello, Nef, jmc and peri
oging?
*Makes Peri a hot chocolate*
what's oging
hey BR
thanks Molls
I love hot chocolate
well i can understand that nef. . . world saving only requires staying awake for long periods. . . very little heavy lifting
hi BR
hi again BR.
Oging...joke on JMC's post at 11:23
glad I don't have to save the world.. mostly
may i have some too molls? i have some jack to pour in it
well so far i can say i mostly haven't saved it
*patches cape*
jack in hot chocolate? sounds awful to me!
*wonders if JM pours jack on breakfast cereal*
I would likesome jack in mine too, please, jmc
i don't eat breakfast so there :-P
*pour a little jack in nef's hot chocolate*
peppermint schnapps would be good in hot chocolate but I don't have any :(
Peri, peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate is good too.
snap,Molls
ooops give that one to peri, nef
BTW, jmc; how is the new organization going?
I will have to buy some.
it's oging nef
slowly, slowly nef but thank you for asking
Great minds Peri.
peri will have 2 cups of it now
i had an epifany the other day about it. . . .
indeed,Molls
I did check out the FB page for it
when most of the organizations i work with were founded it you would call a bunch of people to come over and stuff envelopes and organize meetings. . . and energy would build. . . it is harder to do that online
I can imagine!
ty nef i appreaciate everyone who checked out the FB page. . . I will post something else before christmas
I am going to read for a while. I am reading The Fifth Vial by Michael Palmer. It is quite good.
bye peri enjoy your book
I hear you JMC. On line is a cop out for a lot of people. A lot more impersonal than an actual conversation on the phone.
it is a medical thriller
may be bak for the flip
back,even
Thanks Peri, I will put that on my library list.
I have read several of his books and really liked them.
anything by him would be good, Molls.
well i think i will head to my warm bed. . . cheaper than turning on a heater ;-)
see you all tomorrow. . .bye all
54 left *poof* (mostly)
Nef, saw you are an ICU nurse, and I want to thank you for the tough job you've done over the years. I am not a 200pound man, but I am an ICU veteran if you will and those nurses have the hard jobs.
was that a semi-poof?
I wish i were a 200 pound man
All about perspective, right ruru? I'll stick to being a 140 lb woman. ;)
yes
I loved my ICU job. But it's wrecked my joints. And I'd like to stick to being a 140 lb woman; but I'm a bit heavier than that :-/
Well Nef, you have my thanks nonetheless. ;)
And you have my prayers and good wishes, firefly
I'm glad your 2nd surgery was successful too
And now I'm mostly sort of going to bed. :-D Good Night everyone!
glad I've never been in ICU.. I've never been in a hospital ever really
Good evening
