hello jellen
can I have a lil' clue for the Z for nbt, please?
not from me...lol....still looking...but according to list it's ze4/9
good morning all... plural letter, rbud :)
duh...finally got it...
ty, sprite, and duh! should have seen that, was making it way too complex, lol
spritey...my dear...how are you?
after sussing out the lone e, thought the z might be tricky too
*giggles* Yeah, Zs do that to me too
*hugs rose* Am good, dear friend. Bit of trouble with the teens here, but that is to be expected. And how are you?
ah yes... that E is German. I was surprised it took.
trying to 'weather' out this hot spell....knee all good...trying to get past the fibromyalgia in shin. *sigh*
wtg on the knee! Good job you did on that, rose. Ouch on the fibro. Very gentle daily massages maybe? You can do that yourself, from the foot to the knee. And I SO do not envy you guys over there in that heat. *blows a cooling wind rose's way*
lol, spritey....it's soooo hot.....
I can't do heat. Drives me insane. Is it humid as well?
spritey...sort of...it varies so much...and today mother mac had the injection into her eye for macula degeneration.....don and i are worn out...have fans on all over the house...both exhaust fans and blowing....
*hugs*
humid and hot... it is the worst kind of weather I can imagine. :( I hope the hot spell will be over soon.
not much chance until march, spritey...
ouch. Feet in cold water and wet, rolled-up tea towel in the neck, is all I can come up with.
how is mother mac doing?
we start with a new local doctor tomorrow...please pray that the new doctor is as receptive as the old one.
*keeping fingers crossed*
To our DownUnder counterparts...plz be safe if you are in the bushfire regions xoxoxo
lol, thanx spritey
hi disgrannie!
hey Sprite
nice to see my grannies together :)
hey diz
hey Rose
is the temp. as high there, as here?
aw, cute dancing kitties, dizgrannie
Rose....7:30 pm and still 39 c....thank gawd for air/con
the robot ending is rewarding today
wow... that is hot, diz :(
Sprite....major heatwave here....and is supposed to be hotter tomorrow.
diz and spritey.....air-con turned on... oh, yeah
it must be awful, dizzie. I have been to Dubai once and that was so so hot... but that was on vacation... cannot imagine having to work in that heat.
good, rose :) A bit of help there.
oh fer heaven's sake..just wrote himself a detailed note on how to do the washing tomorrow....and he has read it all back to me....what is wrong with today's males that they cannot understand a simple note?
lol! Maybe you should have drawn it for him?
not enough paper available to do that, spritey!!
:D
still LOL here
I am trying to communicate with my angry young man here, rose... I am starting to think I need a whole new language to do that ;)
yeah, spritey... what age?
16 (and a half)
ugh... try lowering your own age....problem is???
he wants RESPECT... and does not want to earn it... he wants equal rules for parents and children... he wants it all and he wants it now
one has to EARN respect....but a lot of kids these days do not realise that. They want all given to them NOW.
Hi all :)
awww, sprite...very difficult age and thinking. mayhap point out to him that what you have earned taken? years. takes a while. and respect has to be earned, not granted, willy-nilly
hi Liz!
hey liz
so true, dizzie. And I am oldfashioned that way. I make them earn it. Let them hate me now... I bet at some point in life they will feel blessed they know how to earn respect.
good thinking, rose. Will try :) And I don't mind much, most of the time. He has the right to be a teenager. Up to me to be his mum through it all, and if that means being the one he pushes away, so be it.
true Sprite...worked with our girls, and working with our g/kids except for g/son who is ADHD/OCD...I know that is not a cop out, but if not medicated....he is 'a right little feral bastid'
setting boundaries for our kids and teaching them selfrespect is the best we can do for them. That is my firm belief. I love them to pieces. But I am not their mate, I am their mum and that is a whole different role.
Self respect is the first thing we taught our kids and g/kids
omg....have to consult son re what my youngest son and wife have to face , now the new year has happened. they are living in my home before i married don. josh has since qualified and now earns a full-time adult wage and his wife has a full-time job witha new company.
ADHD/OCD is very very tough. On the parents and on the child. And on the grandparent :)
sounds good, rose. A new phase in their lives.
spritey, know what they are going through. youngest son, josh, was diagnosed the same.
must be a real hard battle. As a parent you so want the best for them... but knowing what is best isn't always easy.
it is the biggest gift there is, dizzie, self respect.
so agree...your kids must be flexible...this is the hardest thing to face.
Sprite, g/son came home from his Dad's and started on his Mum....belting into her etc, his big Sis grabbed her little Sis and locked themselves in their bedroom. We asked him if his dad had given him his medication.....no answer. My dtr was ready to kill him....we took him to the police station...and the Constable had a very stern word to him...so far so good.
lol yes. We want them assertive, but not rude... flexible but not too easy on themselves... etc.
Only wish his Dad would give him his medication
omg dizzie, that is awful. How irresponsible from his dad to let the medication slip!
okay, outta here....dinner nearly ready. love to you all.
BBL - didn't want to interrupt :)
aw Liz, you would never interrupt! Always welcome to the conversation!
enjoy dinner, rose, and good luck in the heat and with the shin. *hugs*
diz...so sorry to see that g/son's father was unable to keep up with meds.
"Daddy" reckons there is nothing wrong with his son. But friends have seen 'daddy' give in to his son to keep the peace.
yeah... my children are little angels when I agree in everything they want and don't demand anything from them. Jeezzz.
* poof *
angry young man off to school... not that angry anymore... even done half his chore and said he would do the other half after school. See... that is how he earns my respect ;)
Hello Sprite & Diz
hi lyn :) xxx How are you doing in the heat?
OK not too bad today, we are not suffering as other States (plus I get some breezes off the Bay as well down here)
am glad. Sounds a bit more bearable.
and you have the house to yourself for a few hours after a torrid start to the morning I see/read
indeed :) I had an early babble start because of the boy being so nasty. I can be a coffee-making, great company mum... or I can let him be. Choice is up to him.
so only 7 left now... lots of time to make this a productive day.
fireflies... have a lovely evening, lyn, and a peaceful night. *hugs*
bye Sprite...enjoy your day
wtg spritey!!!!
hi Rose
How many words start with l?
14 words for the L
Thx
Lored
hey, lyn
How are you Rose? everything OK physically and with work?
cot....le x 4....li x 6....lo x 4
Thx rose
lyn....all good with regard to work....and learning to manage knee/leg pain.
will the pain go eventually or you need to work around it forever? (says me yelping occasionally because I haven't been doing my exercises for knee pain!)
lyn, pain will eventually go completely....fibromyalgia is a major issue. surgery tickled up FM in right shin. :(
lyn, fortunately immediate superior recognises that my return to work needs to be gradual.
and that will fade too? I am guessing it is some sort of nerve damage?
yes, dear. exacerbated by surgery...becoming more and more easy to cope with every day which i work.
sounds good with work, our older bodies need more time to repair as you know
I do admire you for managing to do such a physical job
and, halleluah, my brothers have finally seen the light. they realise that don and myself are unable to participate in my mother's care as we are taking 24/7 care of don's mother.
thank goodness
oh, yeah!!! my sister-in-law is finally taking an active role in my mother's care. 'phew'
remind me of your mothers situation - she lives alone?
lyn...not at the moment...she is in rehab...looking at a return to her home(not an option as she will not feed herself, despite provision of meals), or admission to full-time care in a nursing home.
I was actually up your way just prior to Xmas but was for a funeral/memorial service so I didn't even check that you would be home. It was for my SIL father. Her mother and father moved into Wantirna Retirement Village when they were in their early 60s - such a godsend to be in that situation before they both got quite ill
lyn, my mum has stated she wants someone to put the meals in front of her....
oh, lyn...so close, yet so far....
Sounds like she wants to go into a nursing home! that or a very nice hotel
How old is your Mum? and rehab - heart?
lyn, even if i didn't have mother mac to care for...don will not allow my mother here...she would be dead in a week....justifiable matricide.
lol
mum is nearly 87 years old....but acts 1000. mother mac leaves her for dead...so to speak. and she is 94 in february.
I looked at a really nice place in Berwick for my father (but he died a few weeks later) - have rooms and a great dining room but not sure if the cater for difficult 1000 yo's
Its hard isn't it...we have no parents left so I am hoping we won't be a burden on our kids when our time comes. my brother and SIL have been through a LOT in the last year and maybe another year to go
lol....100 more like...told my kids that they owe me 42 years of care...will try and live it out...
okay, thanx for the banter, chat and company. love and hugs to all fellow babblers. see you at the flip
bye Rose
hello everyone :)
good morning annie
Hi jenny
What;s the weather like in New York this morning. I live in Oxford England and it is damp and miserable.
Hi jenny and annie and any others lurking around :)
I havent looked at the weather channel yet but it is not that cold and dry..should be pleasant for the next few days
Hi, Liz it's nice to have a larger grid but this one is quite tricky, I have nbs and nbt but am nowhere near half way which is my other goal
Hi Liz :)
I struggled to half way, then resorted to the list!
I've now got 136 words but still not finding it easy!
I've been awake since 4:15, made some coffee and started this grid at 5AM..its not easy, well, for me anyway
I don't bother with the list just go for my 3 goals, that's usually enough to satisfy me lol
Do you have the is 7 / 8? If so, can you clue it?
is7---is, consonant + if you don't follow you ****, then plural
tyvm Annie - I'd come so close to that but just not that!!!!
they are deceiving
clue for the em8 please
Annie was an early bird today. Hi everyone.
got it
Hi Molly and cool.girl :)
Hi Molly :) and cool. :) darn, early phone call

{{annie}}
Molly, it was a phone call now. 4 am would have scared me silly
Hello, Annie
(((ruby and zooz)))
4AM calls can only bear bad news!
or a drunk
A sibling wanting a lift home..lol
The last person who called me drunk at an ungodly hour got such an earful, I have never heard from him again.
Or like the time I called Australia from the UK - was supposed to be calling Manchester! Similar codes in those days! The Aussie woman was not best pleased!
sorry, molly, I def won't call you again! hahah
I bet she wasn't, Liz.lol
I'm leaving it for tonight! 60 for tomorrow and my brain def hurts!!! Enjoy your days :)
bye liz, sweet dreams
bye lizlin; I only have 159 left but there is no tomorrow.....
Take care, Liz.
Demi should be allowed.
only if you're ashton
LOL
annie: bobby has probably given up on me, but he should get an envolops by Friday or Saturday
ruby, please dont rush yourself. I'll get him to answer this time. We went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and he got a great book on ancient egypt. Book of the Dead. Lots of great pictures and even a jewel embedded in the cover!
I will look around for stuff on Egypt for him. From time to time there are Egyptian things in the magazines
it was sent last Friday, so it should take a week or so
He can read and understand but on a simpler level that that book
*thn
*than
I would hate to let him down!
You are definitely not letting him down

Hi Crossy!

:) crossy
howdy car;)))
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!
Yay, I've missed your tidbits :)
The first person to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel wasn't a young male daredevil, but rather a 63-year-old schoolteacher named Annie Edson Taylor.
Go granny!
Yay for our side!
WooHooo Annie :)
I need help with the ER 6/33 please....not seeing it at all.
Love it when people get their second wind after 50!!
i hit the big 50 next year and pray for a second wind
as opposed to just breathing hard...lol
LOL
thought it was this year crossy?
right now i have no wind.as a matter of fact i sweat when i comb my hair lol
Awww---you're just a baby, crossy!
LOL, smores!!!
im jus a little fella;))
i may be just 49,but how come my body feels 85?
I have a bit of a Peter Pan mentality...don't believe at all in "acting your age."
er6 def is; serving as a substitute; synthetic; artificial: an er**** coffee made from grain.
I know, crossy, often the spirit is willing but the knees are weak!
let me know if you want more car :)
lol...agree Mimi...just look at my icon :)
i tried keeping my mind at 25,but the 25 year old hotties will not slow down enough for me to catch one.they just smile, pat me on the head and say i remind them of their father and would i like a hand carrying my groceries to the car
TY Smores! Googled it and got it from the definition.
LOL...probably for the best crossy :)
Those mean little children! Just wait until THEY get older!
Now I can go and get my work done and wait for the VNA
YAY car !!

Smores, I've repeated your icon to several people and they love it.

So do we have the pleasure of you company a little longer, car?

lol...I didn't know either sp crossy...got on here middle of night and someone typed it in the chat by mistake...lol
My mom fell and broke her scapula.
ouch!
so need lots of help with bathroom duties/bathing etc
In itself, it should be fairly straightforward to care for...HOWEVER, with her dementia issues, it is a nightmare. She keeps forgetting why she has the sling on, takes it off, and then her arm has to be repositioned each time to get it back into the sling.
I know how that can be, car. My best friend's mother broke her hip--she is 83 and it has been a real struggle taking care of her. At least she doesn't have the dementia problem...that has to be a nightmare to deal with.
{{ car}}
If that happens to me when I'm in my 80's, someone will just have to shoot me because my kids won't care.
((car))
However, I still have reports to type, so I am going to leave you anyway...although I would much rather stay here. TY all for your hugs and support. I need them so much today. {{hugs}} to all of you.
oooo....mimi
my son has already promised to stick my shriveled carcass into the nastiest home he can find:/
lol...crossy
Will be saying a prayer for you and your mother, car. ((BIG HUG))
Bye again car...{ hugs to you and your mama}
hmmm...you were joking weren't you crossy?
I shouldn't have even brought up the kids...sorry...going to leave for awhile. HAGD, all.
{{Mimi}}
take care sweetie...hope to see you back later :)
I'm going to start a new daily entry, smores. Going to give a demotivator for laughs. When do you go to work?
I don't work today..explain later :)

how da4 you type da** lol

I'll try to get back around 3 my time, so probably 4 or 5 yours...are you on central time?
it's 9:15 right now
So that would be 5 your time. The demotivators are really funny....you'll enjoy them. Bye for now. ((hug))

first time I made one, I had a visor and now I can't find it, so I chose a garden hat.. yes, i like BR's too
well hello
I'm wee already. A weemee would be minuscule.
I always say mine is actual size. lol
well, you wouldn't want to disappear, haz!
Hi TO
couldn't find the right texture hair.. betw. straight and curly, kind of wavy
but it was fun
Aloy, I've booked my May trip to Tuscany.
how did you save yours, hego ? WHAT???? i'M SO JEALOUS... and very happy for you too (-:
Tuscany in May sounds lovely.
Gives me something to look forward to.
It is haz.
the villa Pallagina was fabulous
Aloy you can export them and save them anywhere you want.
i would be happy to go to Maien at this point. can't seem to get going on the travel thing. all of the roups i know who are going have outrageous price tags
ah, that was my problem.. I didn't export
I think it the best time to go.
Although fall is nice too.
one group is going to brazil and the other to northern italy.
It is getting very expensive.
what should the weather be at that time?
tardis is flying through the grid! (hi all)
Which is cheaper, TO?
Mostly the air fare.
Hi Gwen.
hi Gwen
italy, i think.
both trips are about 2 weeks
weather in the 70's usually in May.
well, I'm going to toodle on off and create yet another weemee.. pax BR, and to you all.. fun seeing you! poof
bye Love.
Bye, Aloy.
rome, sorrento. caprim amalfi coast, pompeii, tuscany, florence, venice, lake como milan and switzerland
Haz have you ever gotten a pup?
All of those??
sept 22 to oct 4, sounds like off season?
Not yet, hego - a long story but our initial hopes were dashed. I've begun negotiations again, hoping for one in March.
great season TO
yes. it is a pilgrimage.
Good luck Haz.
All very beautiful places TO.
Thanks, hego. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we are more fortunate this time.
another spaniel?
depends on how much is religious and how much is free time. sounds pretty tight.
yes, a lot to cover.
Yes, possibly a blue roan cocker. IF the mother is pregnant, IF we make a good enough impression on the breeder.
TO, it sounds as though there'd be a LOT packed in to the time you have available.
sounds very competitive.
haz, have not heard of that. a matter of coloring on a cocker or a breed in itself?
I think you would have an advantage, hubby being a vet.
perhaps i will wait for prince charming to take me. ;)
It's a description of the colouring - an English cocker but with kind of grey mottled markings.
sounds pretty, i must google it
Good morning, all.
We'll see what happens but it would be great if it would work out.
TO don't wait for prince charming, trust me.
Good morning, trentsnana.
Hi nana
Haz - blue roan English cockers are my all-time favorite!! Gorgeous dogs. You will have to be sure to post pictures IF everything works out.
<--keeping fingers crossed for Haz.
hello again, gotta about 10 mins to spare, back for a few more :)
Oh I will, trentsnana. I'm trying not to get too hopeful because we were disappointed before.
Hi smores
Well, I'll cross my fingers for you, too.
they lok a bit like springer?
lol...agree with hego...don't wait on prince charming
They're smaller than a springer, TO, with longer ears.
Kind of a mini-springer
Gorgeous faces!
my fairy tale was reversed...prince charming turned into a toad...lol
lol smores. toad do not seem to be an endangered species
happens often smores.
sounds nice haz...hope you get it :)
unfortunately not...they are quite plentiful
Speaking of toads and changing the subject slightly, do you ever get BBC programmes by David Attenborough?
yes, often.
he does host some programs
He's a favorite of mine.
He has a new series out called 'Africa' - the first episode was last week and it's just outstanding. He had stories ranging from giraffes fighting to crickets invading birds' nests. Amazing photography.
always wonderful.
So, do keep an eye out for it, it's incredible to watch.
I will do.
thank haz, will do
oops look at the time. Must go.
I will keep an eye out haz...he does wonderful shows
Lovely to see you Haz.
Bye.
Good to see you, hego. Have a good day!
Bye hego...enjoy the day :)
bye hego
it seems i have been palying forever and only have 140 words
I know, it's one of those 'tweeze-a-word-at-a-time' grids.
apt - oh dear, i cannot pinpoint th part of speech - just say an anpt desciption.
Aphorism?
hmmm... doesn't that imply a phrase or saying in common use? Oh dear, i cannot remember the rules of my own language.
'A terse saying embodying a general truth'
tres reyes are gone. i changed to something apropos the conversation
Let me try refreshing to see if I can see it.
must go...got to 100 with 2min to spare..lol..be back later
later smores
hmmm..make that 1 min babble time...hagd all
Bye, smores.
I like it, TO!
i stole it from someone's FB post. another babbler no doubt
i had some great icons for the holidays but since i rarely chat it was kind of moot
What sort of things? Can they be used at other times or were they specifically Christmas?
actually, there IS one i can still use, since the season is just over. let me go change, brb
Good day to all.
Good day to you, Scrabbler.
changed. actually, i just tend to save things i like out of habit. i think i have the "it doesn't matter if you've been naughty or nice, that reepy elf on the shelf is g oing to kill you one night while you're sleeping"
hey scrabs!
hiall. would love clues for the 8s.
How to stop a child from sleeping peacefully, point out the danger of malicious toys...
wuld love to HAVE the 8s
that elf is creepy and unnecessary for our generation.
Howdilly doo, neighbors. lol, Haz.
I have to go see a kid with a rash in a minute. Fun grid?
em8 - the plural of em7, start with a green gemstone, end with the ending for robots.
Hello, Judi.
TY, Queen Hazel!
i swear i saw a skirt you can buy for your elf. the box had something about wearing it for the nightly visits to santa. i laughed so hard when i saw that
ty got it haz.
is8 - another plural, i plus the bottom of your shoe (four letters) then shortened version of what's shown in breaks in TV programmes.
You're welcome.
test
i tried and tried to find the packaging on line to use as an icon
working on it
Scrabbler, it's not a fun grid as such but it takes a bit of work.
ty got is word. and 8 is grey.
Good, glad that the clue worked.
stuck at 78 words. darn.,
8 = grey, TY.
how are you feeling, scrabs? sore from all that skiing?
any clues for the o top right corner?
group/s of eight
I was very so4 yesterday but am ready to ski again this afternoon. Sundays = shop for Mom then take her out for dinner.
two of them refer to the eights
ot5/10 and its plural ot6/18 - sounds like a water animal, different spelling.
oc4/5 - o plus most of what you pack clothes in.
i wemt dancing yesterday and i was sore and exhausted last night
so out of shape!
Still, at least you made the effort.
ty haz.
suitcase????????
got oc 4. ty
Yes, but use the shortened version.
there is a dance on saturday so i will try to practice this week. one of the dancers will come over to teach
dont have the eights words. darn.
Do you have to wear any particular type of costume or anything?
well, many have low boots but they can be heavy to dance in. i wear jeans but many wear skirts that will swing or even little black dress with cowgirl boots.
well ty for three of the words. looking for others.
Sounds like square dancing.
yes. it's zydeco. and we went to one in wilmington last month
oc5/14 and plural oc6/24 for those 'eight' words.
any further clue haz? just not seeing them
oc plus the start of what turns into a frog.
got them haz. ty ty ty
Good, glad you got them.
that o is grey now.
now for other o. darn. 8 words?????????????
it is time for me to get to work. this grid will take more than one sitting.
Bye Owl
It will take more than one sitting, it requires concentration, dedication and the copious use of morewords.
but i hate to leave when the old gang is here
off to work etc
Well, I shall tease away some words.
oh heck, i am sitting here watching rachel ray and then i found ta4/5. no wonder i am hungry
a trip to ta4/5 bell is in order today
A culinary clue - da7/32
(It's a special mould for making little puddings)
can we serve ta4/5s at the so6/18? or would that be declasse?
i am thinking dacoise
Will they fit in with the cucumber sandwiches?
da plus 2016 Olympic city, first letters of not right (direction)
or dacquoise
ty for the da word
well we can theme it mexican and have margaritas. and tequila sunri4s
You're welcome, Scrabbler.
well i am glad someone found it. i am witless
I must admit it's the sort of thing I see in catalogues, I don't actually possess any.
i tried wwII cake this week.turned out fairly well
Oh, you mean you haven't got it yet - clue given below, da plus three letters for Olympic city 2016, first two letters of not right (in terms of direction)
just oo quick and easy when the cake craving hits
i have it ty. btw did my icon change?
Yes, to the spray painted 'greeting'.
i though it would be apropos to the end of the season.
As of last night, only one set of neighbours still had their Christmas lights going.
i always light them up through epiphany. usually longer, since i am lazy
Lots of lights are still on around here, but we have tons of snow so that prolongs the feeling of a holday
*holiday
yes, it does prompt folks to light up again.
Our weather over Christmas was pretty grey and drippy, not festive at all.
ours was not bad. a couple of clippers bringing some nuisance snow and icing
We got a few more inches of snow last evening and overnight. My driveway had to be plowed out again. I pay $300 for the season and I think I have had 6 or 7 plows done so far.
wow! how many incnes on the ground now?
Do the snow ploughs come out automatically or do you have to ring them?
Over a foot. We have gotten about 20 inches since just before Xmas. But we will have a "January thaw" starting Friday, with a few warm days in a row, :-(
Dan the Snowplow Man comes by whenever we get more than 3-4 inches of snow. He lives in the neighborhood. Other people pay per plow-out but I gamble and pay for the season, hoping to break even.
yes, ours is beginning now. i am glad ! there is nothing to thaw. all i want is to be able to hang some laundry.
Of course the town plows the roads.
You're fortunate to have the service available to you. What does he do in the summer?
we may get over 13 C by the weekend
He does landscape/lawn work--mowing lawns, cutting and trimming tr5, etc. Many guys make a living doing seasonal work in these manners.
That makes sense - he must like the outdoor life!
Darn, another kid was just given an appt. I thought I was done for the morning. I guess I have to earn my pay.
but you can babble on your down time! just hang with us
Did I tell you about the lady with the chinchilla who rang at 2 in the morning to tell us that it hadn't eaten properly for 2 weeks?
Grrrr, so rude!
She wasn't too happy that husband wouldn't give her the private phone number of the vet who would specialise in small animals. And no, she wouldn't bother making an appointment for the morning surgery.
We get calls like that too---ongoing problem that a parent must discuss after the office is closed. No common sense! Wait til the office is open.
oh my! shades of mrs. pumphrey!
It's just bizarre, isn't it?
Anyone having problems entering words into the grid?
Anyone having problems entering words into the grid?
So many people do not think and are not resourceful to search for the answer on their own.
No, Jan
Hmm. Must be just me...good morning evryone
scrabbler, i just saw that my social group is going snow tubing next month. i am curius but leery have you ever done this?
Hello, India.
I would love to snow tube, TO. However, I'm afraid my back would never forgive me.
They'll always need someone to stand and hold coats. I would be that person.
i think there is music apres tube, judy. and i am sure the organizer would give me a lift up to blue mountain.
I have done it before but not since I almost killed myself doing so. I "caught air", i.e. was airborne, 8-10 feet above the snow, off balance, landed face first into snow bank dividing lanes, then flipped over and landed on my back in adjacent lane. I could have been a quadriplegic or been dead easily. Very scary.
There you go. It would be fun to ride the ski lift at least.
Oh well, scratch that outing. no way. no way in hell.
Gosh, there are obviously things even more dangerous than that scary elf on the shelf.
I was just reviewing my experience yesterday when I drove past the tubing place. I live across the valley from a ski resort and tubing company.
or scary elf trysting with santa each night :0
Or does the scary elf sneak lifts up mountains to lurk beneath snow tubes and hurl people to their doom?
Tubes bounce. Dangerous if you build up enough speed and are unlucky enough to hit a bump.
I cannot be the only person that became airborne.
scrabbler,w as there a choice of slopes like in skiing? like maybe you were on a more advances slope?
Hm, they all seemed the same.
i could always hike or snowshoe
You'd have the fresh air and some exercise without the threat of imminent death or injury.
i will hope he meant it when he offered to take me to a show instead. nice indoor recreation.
s
Okay, well I will have to head in to do some ironing soon. TO, any clue needed for any particular word or are you happy to keep going yourself?
The ironing it is... Bye for now!
Gotta go. Enjoy the day.
hi all, just found a neat word, er6/33
Hey Peri, that is a snappy little word : )
I like almost as much as ergo :)
And erstwhile
I am becoming disenchanted with the food pantry. I went there today to sign up for time in Jan.
... don't forget smaltz
Why disenchanted?
Smaltz is good : D
There were 4 volunteers behind the counter and one out front signing clients in. that is a total of 5. Only ONE of them had signed up. I spoke with the person at the table and she said that if that happens I could turn around and go home. see you later. Really? I have been a dedicated volunteer for 2 and 1/2 years and always there when I say I will be. The one time I could not I made sure my friend was there.
geek words today...
Tardis
Not very friendly of them Peri.
I told here that would be a waste of my time but she was not impressed. I will speak to the chef and one other person who I think might have a little more pull. I signed up for the next two weeks. We will see what happens.
Not very nice.
no order or rhyme or reason as to who shows up cause it is a volunteer basis. So. There still needs to be some structure and there is a sign in sheet.
that is mean, Peri! I would be mad. That is disrespectful of volunteers time.
If I am not happy in the next few weeks I will back off and look for some where else to volunteer my time.
it is indeed!!
i had some problems like that peri volunteering too.. they probably have more people than they need.. that was the case for me
I will see what reaction I get from the chef and the other people I intend to speak with
when I started there were few volunteers and everyone signed up.
perhaps there is another organization more in need of volunteers. that one sounds too popular.
I don't know where these new people are coming from
everyoone signed up on the list is what I meant
I like the idea of feeding hungry people. would volunteer at a food kitchen but not near me
but there is none near me
I like doing it and it gets me out of the house.
ok, I am through, thanks for listening
help with right column E pls
I don't understand why they are favoring walk ins over people who are signed up to work.
Right column e sounds like what you put Preparation H on.
I have no idea, guess they are just glad people showed up. YOu would think they would want to hold on to long time, dedicated volunteers but it does not seem so.
ty for em7
*waves to Doren*
it would be ok it that happens once in a while but it happens every week
and got the em8 too ty
what does other 8 start with pls?
"waves back" from behind my desk on the phone with school nurse

Haven't watched yet Peri. Jilly, I don't think Dr. God will be able to help. The problem is on your end. Who set up your new computer?
My son and I

Good Morning Everyone. How are you all this bright sunny day?

It's so frustrating to be bumped a lot.
May have to...but will have to be later...gotta run now anyway...
*poof*
see you later then!
toct
opps. sorry
hello nef
hi ruby. I seemed to have killed the chat there for a bit (but at least I found a bunch of words in the grid! :-)
Hi all, In for 5 minutes. :3
hi scrambler
hi ruby!
hi scrambler.
how are you, nef? this is a grey, hard winter so far
Ca va bien?
comme ci, comme ca....
I need an infusion of Spring!
I'm doing okay, ruby. It's bright and sunny and sort of warm here for this time of year; 32 (F)
Je ne pouvais pas être plus d'accord, le printemps!
there wasn't a single break in the clouds all day -- no precip, but dark
It's on / off today, I want sun and lots of it! Are we asking too much?
your French is very good!
hahaha
my Ruby will be 10 this month and I think she's winding down and it makes me terribly sad
notice the french evening word!
she's on 2 heart meds, so her breathing is better, but she looks old, all of a sudden
oh, that's awful, poor thing!
it's funny when there are Fr words in the grid. Maybe there are other languages, too, but I wouldn't see them
I don't know any foreign languages, so I tried google translation and came up with some odd results, scrambler.
one was about spring and one about pregnancy.
ruby, what type of dog is she?
i know french, spanish, italian, latin well enough to get around, and am fond of some obscure languages I have tried to self teach. My daughter has exceeded me now! she knows all the above fluently. We always try to talk to one another with everything mixed in and have a good laugh!
she (and all the dogs I've ever had) is a chow chow
my avatar is Max, a black chow who died last March
chow chow, lovely!
they say that after 3 languages, it gets easy, but since I only have 2, I wouldn't know
we've had 6 since 1990, but have had only one make it to 10, that was Rufus
they are wonderful dogs -- sweet and gentle but great guard dogs at the same time
and the puppy, Ruffino, who came to us after Max, is a knockout!
I understand that the larger the dog the shorter the lifespan. We've had 2 schiz-poos since 1991; the first one lived to about 16 years and this one is now 14 years old. I thought he was dying in November; the vet couldn't find anything wrong; so we babied him and he's recovered from whatever was wrong.
my father spoke broken french(canadian) hahaha! It inspired me to get it right! ahaha. My daughter spent 6 months at American University in Paris, She went to Northeastern and had majored in International Business and Languages. I settled her in for a week! loved it. We have also visited Beaulieu sur Mer, Monaco and Monte Carlo. I really wanted to visit Annecy! Our friends who own a place in Beaulieu Sur Mer also own property in Annecy!
it's true about the size' evidently St. Bernards only live to 8 or so
where in Annecy?
we're in Veyrier, 10 minutes away
(Both were rescues; the first one we got from the pound and this one was from DH's cousins' wife. They were going to put him down due to behavior problems and we thought we could train him. He's learned; but the biggest teacher for him was the first one.
Ruby teaches Rufie all sorts of things an, when Max was still alive, she used to "help" him by opening doors and stuff as he was extremely shy
you are smart to get rescue dogs. Chows are wonderful, but they are very delicate for such large creatures
really? Wow, I wouldn't have guess that! They are so fluffy that I thought they were sturdily built under all that fur.
Oh, they are sweet little puppies! I am not sure, but I will have to ask my daughter, she has been to Beaulieu to visit the family and they took her there and they have apts in Paris as well , 1me Arondissement, the markets are great there! We visited 4me Arondissement , where supposedly my family hails from., sure enough I found my surname which is also the name of a street there....DesRosiers.
my daughter has a rescue pup....Hank!
years ago, when I was married the 1st time, we spent a summer in Paris about 3 blocks from a due Rosiers which was at the foot of Montmartre. It was the only place with food stores open on Sundays
rue*
DesRosiers? I knew a lot of Derosiers in my hometown! (It's in northwestern Minnesota and was nearly half French Canadian and half German descendants.
yes, nef, they are big-boned, but I think they've been inbred for beauty and good disposition and have wound up fragile. We've had two black ones, Cleo, who died at 2 of a heart anomaly, and Max, who lived to 8 but was autistic
I love Montmatres, we went there. Music playing on the streets below, Dali and other artistic venues above and around. We searched for the place where some of the movie Amelie was filmed up there.
Annecy is lovely, but it's not Paris!
The DesRosier family came to Canada., some married into the Cree Indian nation and know of a Cree Indian Michelle DeRosier who lives in Thunderbay and has some films and documentaries and a great voice.
are there any Crees in your family tree?
Yes, my mothers great bon maman! She was born in Shediac New Brunswick and moved to Quebec with my mothers great grandfather.
it's terrific, knowing about your interesting forebears
Phantom: to love is in the grid en francais.
well enough about me, I hope your little petit choux gets better!
my big chou chou (funny, never thought of that)
hahah!
little cabbages! My father used to call us that!
she has such a long coat this year (will it be a bad winter?), that she looks like she's wearing a slipcover
good night, little cabbages!!! sweet dreams
bonne nuit!
hi ruby, scrambler
hi bichon!
what's up in Babbleland?
putting in my 10 minute afternoon babble fun!
I'm visiting grandkids in CA. Have to pick the Kindergardener up at 12:30, so I have a bit of time.
Phantom Dream!
sorry, had to fix some lunch for DH; back now.
I'm suffering from both Dream and dram phantoms today. I've tried both several times I think
How do you make a witch itch? Take away her W.
Good one, BR.
how are you today? Do you have some of this glorious sunshine there today?
hi babblerabble
later everyone! Babbylon!
hagd, scrambler!
Can someone please clue the O's from the upper right and the I's from the 2nd to bottom row, 2nd from left coulumn?
oc + a ***pole is a baby frog and plural
Oc 5/14
Are my messages coming through? I don't see them
ot5 like the sea animal, but different second vowel and plural
I thought it wasjust my computer with a slow lag today; maybe it's the site
Ah, OK I refreshed & now I see me and the clues. Thanks Molly, Nef
ir4 a flower or eye part
ir4 angers
ir4/4 is both pl of "vexed" and part of the eye (2 wdiff words)
and ir 4/5 is pt of the vexed word
Thanks Molly, those are both from the I immediately to the left, I have those, the one in the 2nd column is harder
OK, thanks Nef, got the PT of theangry word
id...a thought or concept
my pt. clue is pt of the vexed and that is from 2nd column
i + ***ocrat or Republican
there is also an is 7-8 from the left column
Wow thanks guys!
also ir 5/12 ir and lemon*** (a drink)
Did anyone notice that my home country is in the grid but not acceptable. Kinda like the UN.
and il 4/4/ is part of the gut
it's a proper name; and supposedly not accepted I guess
Can you dumb down the IS combo Nef?
I know Nef,I was just joking.
is + vowel + type of metal pipe that isn't safe anymore? + pl
Metal pipe that isn't safe anymore????
mich... you can **** a horse to water but you can't make it drink
Ah, right, I just got it rolin
Ah, right, I just got it rolin
Thanks
That's a much better clue than mine. My city is warning homeowners to replace any **** water pipes they may have in their homes.
Whewre my saister lived they came and replaced all the 8888 pipes, thejn they found mthat all the houses had been earthed onto the pipes. They were told they 'were living ona volcano and unless they apid £xxxx they would DIE' so they all paid and it was two years later before the water board came and re-earthed them!!Needless to say no-one had actually died!!
I meant *** not 8888!!
the same *** pipes? Or new copper ones?
Not sure how they did it as the **** pipes were replaced with plastic! Knowing them they just took the money and pretended they had done it!
Well, at least they got rid of the ****! I guess some builder here in mid-America used the cheap metal instead of the galvenized iron they should have used.
Most of our 'bad' ones were Victorian and Edwardian
Our house wasn't one of the problem homes though. (thank goodness!)
We had a 'scandal' recently when they found batches of toys had been imported from China and had **** paint on them ( nearly typed it in full!!)
have found 133 words but none from the bottom right hand coloum 'E'..may i have some stats please?
there is a 7,8 that sounds like the nasty polyps in you anus.
sorry
Many thanks, Hego now have NBT & NBS :-)
lolol yw
No definition i noticed.
lol Hego but we all got it - not the nasty polyps I hope but the words!!
I was afraid to look. : )
I hope so too Deeha

Phantom : Actress.
hi all. best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year :)
You too, Kate :-)
ty zooz, how's the grid today?
Strange for me at first thought very hard then got well over half way now with 54 more to find..am struggling again...lol
carry on, i have faith in you... i've only got 47 so far, a long way to go yet - and very little time
hi all, back to find more words
Well there are some wonderful 'i' clues given about 1:44pm chog time which i scooped up..lol
Hello, Peri.
Evening all, back for the last 80
Hi zooz and Glant. I have 81 left and stuck
Hello, Glantarell
hi peri. i managed to hoover up those clues as well. i am using a computer i'm not too familliar with, i can't get lickety to work... is it because i am on a more recent operating system etc? when i try to copy/paste into the bulk add it tells me i'm adding more words than there are in the grid - it puts lots of extra spaces in and each of the word values numbers are also on separate lines. any ideass?
Hi Peri, Zooz
49 now for me peri..but i know you can do it.
I've never used the bulk add feature TraderKate
that stinks, Kate
I will persevere, zooz and will finish this one
Sorry , kate i have no id4 what is wrong..i use an xbox360 to play babble now..lol
did not know you could do that, zooz
I am looking for 10 x ar....
*sigh*

AR bottom
oh, I got that
well, it's a lot of extra work, but if i manually delete all the extra blank lines nad numbers, i can enter them, but then i have to constantly go back and forth from babble to lickerty to enter each word.
I consider it slang not rude
sound like a lot of work, kate
i don;t think it's rude either, just not quite polite
Hello all. Gray and drizzly here in the Great Northwest. Finished the washing and folding clothes so this is my reward.
hi stidg
Hi stidgmeren - grey and drizzly here too
hi stidg, part of me is in the grid today :)
bur I am off to warmer dryer Cyprus at silly o'clock tomorrow morning
Hi peri. I suspect the world is a lot smaller than people want us to think, Glantarell. My place, your place. That close.
Kate, I had the same problem using ie browser, tried using google chrome on same computer and it worked fine
You are leaving body parts in the grid Trader? You may need them sometime.
Oh, I get it ty for the clue, Tr.
Trader Kate.... the very same thing happened to me when I tried to use Lickety.... haven't used it on this computer for ages. My solution was to access Babble through Google Chrome.... solved the problem ! Hope this helps !
And now I'm in the PB. Oh the carelessness of it.
I use Google Chrome, too since it caused a mess with one of the Adobe things.
bbs
and I am missing what got you into the pg gm
the clue was given by TKate.
LOL.... I just saw ChrissieDee's suggestion.... I think windows explorer is getting very erratic... I use Google Chrome for some speed games that I play as well.... much faster.
I was using Firefox when it went to a new version it messed up the Adobe.
I haven't got Babble Expert on this computer, and I think I'm going to miss it :( We are in Arizona for 3 months and I'm on my laptop now.
i don;t think i could complete a puzzle withour BE
Babbing on the ipad now, it's not as easy as the pc and can't open lickety in a new window to have side by side
i hate babbling on the iPad
It is a real help to me to have BE available. But I'm getting better at intuitively picking up words from the grid.
I just appreciate having Babble Expert if I'm in a hurry , or if my day doesn't allow me any leisurely play.
You'll be making your monkeys redundant soon stidgmere
I know I can email Dr. God or someone to get it, but I forget how to do it.
I'm in the grid, too TR.
Oh monkeys are another name for intuitive, I think.
hi again. Back for a few more words. I'm on a Mac and have never been able to use BE. :-(
I don't even know how to find BE?..?
You do very well Nef without BE. Someday we will all rise up and throw away our crutches or something like that.
I just got an iPad for Christmas... just learning the ropes, but I have Babble on it !! I LOVE the Facetime feature.... we can talk to our great grandbaby very often, while we are away. She tried to kiss me on it the other night !!
How lovely diane
oh, so sweet, Diane!
What a lovely memory, diane.
I use kype to talk to grandhcildren in another country every week. But I am going to the other country tomorrow so this week I can give it a miss :-). I love thta they bring things to the comouter to show me, and take ther computer on tours to show me things thye can't bring.
totta
Sorry,
guess I should play or chat but not both these days
This way, she won't forget us.... she's 18 months old now. She saw her grandma get out her iPad the other evening and right away, kept sayIng "nana, nana, Hi, Hi, Nana !!" She thinks we are in the iPad !!
Real words only please Nef
my grandson told me I lived on an aeroplane/in the computer
I have Skype too, but the facetime is awesome and I can be more mobile !
LOL.... cute, Glan:-)
i just use skype on the iPad, because my daughter doesn't have facetime
Whatever works, to keep us in touch !
it is SO much better than phone calls, the little ones can be more intuitive and they definitely remmeber you better
Very true Glantarell but I bet you can't wait for real hugs and kisses
i am looking forward to being completely smothered tomorrow, although I get there after bedtime so maybe i will be woken on wednesday morning!
someone posted the link for BE not too long before chritstmas, unfortunately, it is not bookmarked on the computer i am on now. i think crossy has it???
apparently they all have 'grandma to do' lists
you can't download BE to an iPad
4 yr old list involves sharing (muesli) breakfast - which she won;t eat when i am not there
5 yr old list onvolves playing nerf guns
Where are you going Glantarell?
9 yrold list onvolves french knitting and baking
Cyprus
Safe journey
thanks :-)
sounds wonderful... and warm!
well, warmer than here at any rate - about 18C if i am lucky
better than what we are getting here - temps hovering at the freezing mark, but very damp and gloomy, with howling winds :((
I am happy for you, Glantarell... we are so lucky that our 10 grandkids are all close, and the Great Grandbaby is only 10 minutes away
i have 5 grandchildre and one on the way - 3 about 25 miles away and 3 about 2000 miles away
But now they are FAR away, so we do our best to stay close. ( all 10 of the grandkids are on Facebook too!! )
Babble Expert link: www.r46.me/BabbleExpert20110410.\nzip
Remove the "n" from that link
hi Molly
Actually, remove the "\n"
Hi Glant
Thanks so much, and hi Molly :-)
Glant and Diane, The Traveling Grandmas : D
thanks for the BE link molly. unfortunately, it still does it. maybe tomorrow i will try to use chrome if i can
It still does what?
And Glant is right, Babble Expert does not work with Macintosh Operating Systems
when i copy/paste to bulk add in lickety, it inserts lots of extra blank lines, and the number values for the words are also added on separate lines like this: word 4 6 next word....
then it tells me i'm cheating by adding more words than there are in the grid :(
You will have to ask Lickety about that: licketySplitAUS@gmail.com
I get the exact same thing, Trader... :-(
i think it is something specific to this computer - i'm not sure but think it is windows 7, but has IE 2010?
TraderKate.... did you see my earlier message???? Exactly the same thing was happening to me, so I changed to Google Chrome to access Babble.... Lickety now works perfectly. ( If you don't have Google Chrome, it is very easy to download ) I don't use it as my default browser yet, but I plan to.
I am on my work computer; have not had this problem at home
off to the penalty box fjor you beach ;) let me know if the cababna boys have anything good to eat today, i'mn starving
and Molly.... thanks for the link to Babble Expert.... easy as pie !
is there ;-) away I go
Internet Explorer has LOADS of issues. I highly recommend Chrome or Firefox instead.
i will try the chrome tomorrow if i can, i'm at an internet cafe, not sure if it is loaded or if i will be allowed to downlo9ad it.... anyway, almost out of time, they close at 5
love Chrome
i used to use firefox on my laptop - when i first stumbled onto babble, i liked it a lot more than IE
Glad you could play the grid today TraderKate.
<---Not seeing why Beach got sent to the PB
neither am I Molly
(TKates 1st name)
tr 6Kate
me either, but I will go, nonetheless
molly, i'm partly in the grid today... with a few more words to be made from the root
oh, had the words
oooooooo i c!! lol
Yeah, but we don't send people to the PB for names, like Peri.
stidge willl keep you company, LOL
... how true molly, how quickly i forget
Stats please for the 8's?
em 8
well, unusually for me i am going to quit before the end - 47 left, but i must finish my packing etc for the 5 am start to go to Cyprus - doubt if I will babble while away becaus eit's only by iPad and that drives me nuts but i'll see you all again in a week or so,
is 8/45 and em 8/50
8/50 sounds like you'd use Prep H on it
htere were clues which i couldn't fathom to do with bottons for the em8 but now i have th word, if you spelt it hem instead you'd het the clues

salt is my downfall -- anything salty is a treat. I guess that's from growing up in a candy store
it was about 390 calories!
love pretzels, especially chocolate covered ones.
column 1, 2nd e please?
I used to love the big salty soft ones in NY
er6/33 fake

{{smores}}
I think I'm gonna be sick from my snack -- why didn't I stop at half?

taer
phantom: armoire

Ruby needs to cut herself a break about that snack. People get food issues from thinking that way.
howdy my friends:) back for some more words:)

This getting kicked on and off is really getting old...
that new computer giving you problems?
Not playing well with router.
try again, owl - i had to do it a couple of times
at pls?
my take on new computers is that they should fit into your household pretty seamlessly - if you have ongoing problems where there were none before, return it and get something else
at7, that is. i need to geto going, 7 pm meeting
did you get a win 8 os, jilly?
ohhhh ... at7 ... you might be at*****ed to tall, dark and handsome types
at 7: what a magnet does
oh heck , ty. bbl
at7=bees are at*****ed to honey (molly clue)
bye, owl
Didn't have a choice...Win8...
by TO
if your router is from pre win 7 days, you may need a new one
or have to download a new driver for it
Oh wonderful.....just keeps on getting more complicated!
you'd think the folks would tell you what you need (or need to do) when you purchase the darned thing
Good morning :)
hi liz
doesn't it though -- how the computer industry keeps making money!
Love the new icon!
:)
when I went to win 7, I had to scrap a perfectly good printer because it wasn't compatible and I couldn't get a driver for win 7 for it
i like it, too - much better than a photo, which would show my fat belly and banana nose
Don't believe that!
who am i kidding - my fat everything! LOL
ra 7, please?
believe it, believe it - i'm a roly poly sort of welki
the sound a drum makes
Great clue! tyvm!
ty welki - that's a word?
That's my reaction too - but then I often think that with some of the words that show up here!
Okay...guess for the meantime just count me as a semi lurker.....I may disappear at random..
off to make a salad - later, folks!
Enjoy :)
bye welki
not seeing the longer words today

lol
hi ruru :)
good evening folks
Hold on uu...we'll get you out!! :)
Hi Bichon :)
hi bichon!
hi sue and smores, whatssup
Long day for me today but I did manage to get nbs and nbt finally :-)
YAY uu :)
finally finished the A's
This is why YouTube deserves to exist: COSBY DUBSTEP. http://tinyurl.com/bacyc23
<---loves Bill Cosby
that is hilarious neil...thanks for sharing :)
hi again
hi nef!
hiya nef
How are you doing, sue? And how is everyone doing tonight?
we are doing pretty well, Nef, my shoulder is better and Frank isn't having too much in the way of chemo side effects, so yay!
how about everyone at your place?
hanging in there, sue. :-) DH was doing some of his exercises just now and complains that exercising causes pain!
well, I suppose it does, in some sense...
just found my dog in the grid :-)
He's been sitting all day, walks around the "circle path" in the house a few times a day; and since he has PT tomorrow he thinks he should suddenly do all his exercises for the week! MEN!!
ha, I am a bit like that myself, not always so good about doing my exercises between physical therapy sessions - I got a new one to do today, too
what's his name? ;-)
lol
seriously, I am hoping to avoid another fusion, I am getting the same symptoms I usually get when my neck is starting to act up - don't need that right now!!
I really try to do my therapy at least twice every day. I just want to preserve and increase the function I have and I can do this myself
You're welcome, smores. :) [sorry... not really here, doing stuff
]
do your therapy, sue! It does help!
hi neil (even though you are not really here :-)
hi and bye, multi-tasking neil.
Hi Sue... and listen to Nef. ;)
Haha, Nef. Ok... off here again. I'm just "On-Again, Off-Again Neil" this evening.
hi again, back from dinner.
that's better than what I called you; but I didn't want to be accused of being nasty! ;-)
lol...sorry guys, stuck in the grid...down to 30 so can chat awhile :)
hi again scrambler; and smores too
hey scrambler :)
hi scrambler!
lol...uu what's your dog's name
se4/4 (Italian for evening, or in the song que se4/4 se4/4)
nice... :) think that was what nef was asking...or maybe being naughty :) never know with nef
smores: :-P
to be honest; I was looking for a clue.
lol...
are there really 14 words from that a to the right of the d?? so far I only have 4.
yay...already had it
and I have that word already now that I figured it out
I have 8 of the 14 so far and I can't find anymore
still need 121 so will be monkeying
Hi again :) Can clue for a short while if needed :)
hi liz!
there are a lot of ar words, suee. :-(
Hi again Liz :)
I only have 4 ar words. Sigh.
They are some weird words - well, I thought so.
13 ar words
There are - that should've said!
lol...1st 3 start that way
I reckon 6 are common words at first glance
Hmmm! Well that's such a common word itself - how can you not use that?
I hadn't noticed that til you said it, smores
Those is the only 3 that start that way - lol!
I know I expected a lot more with that beginning
Hey you're here again, Lizlin.
ARRRGGG! If you can have an ar 4/4 and a pt of it (the ar 6/21) WHY isn't there a present tense of it????
Hi again Neil :)
Well that isn't technically a past tense of it, since it's a noun. It would mean being covered in it.
(I think I've tried that 30 times today.
Like if I was covered in feathers, I'd be feathered... maybe even tarred and feathered if tar was involved. But I hope never to be. :P
lol...
[think I'll behave myself so that never happens]
Oh, I know, neil; it's just I keep entering the same darn words now -- and they aren't right!
I like the 2nd ar6/21...lol
I haven't found it yet, smores; but am looking
pain in the ahole...lol
sorry...couldn't help it :)
If no clues wanted, I'm off for lunch :)
Enjoy your lunch Lizlin! :-)
Bye Lizlin...enjoy :)
and thanks for the clue, smores. I think I got it! :-)
Bon apetit Lizlin.
Toda Raba :)
;)
:) I try not to cuss and therefore say things like ahole...think I'll use the ar6 next time...lol
that'll be sure to get my daughter's eyes rolling :)
and yes I know that it is actually a plant
Haha. Well considering my profile should probably come with a "strong language" warning label, I'm not too offended, smores. ;)
It's only words.
lol....didn't think you would be...I am usually not offended by others cussing...just my preference
my daughter thinks I am so weird when I get mad and call people aholes...or my own little made up curse words....
Ha. How old is she ?
15 going on 25
the eyes they be a rollin' ....lol
Ok, wait until she's an adult... she'll be saying those words herself I'm sure.
Life... people... y'know?
lol...yeah
yeah; my dtr. is now 30 and I have to tell her to refrain from the language she uses (even though she was once very offended by it herself)
I have mild road rage, she either thinks it's hilarious or rolls her eyes when I start ranting. " Friggin' poop for brains ahole..."
Ha. My parents know better than to try and tell me that... not that Dad would anyway, he uses it himself. Cusses like a sailor! Haha.
I joke about what a great influence and role model he was... but seriously, he was. :)
I used to cuss a lot and still do on occasion...I broke the habit when my daughter was learning to talk.
i may be old fashioned - but i was brought up in a family where my parents used any cussing - i raised my sons with out using any of that language with them - i don't know what they do away from me but they don't ever use it around us or their children
I don't ever use it around children either.
My dad cussed alot around us, not at us or anything, my mom cussed some, just dammit and occasionally shit.
And our dad refrained from it more when we were young kids... unless he injured himself or something equally serious happened that elicited an expletive or two... or even a few.
living in a college town, i find it depressing that too many students don't seem to know how to speak a sentence without four letter words
Nothing worse that hearing the F word or any curse word for that matter come out of a little kid
That is pretty sad, wvteach. I have to agree.
agree Teach
I use them... but time and place. Now and then in my writing they are there for effect, sparingly. And because I'm quoting someone else verbatim who was using them.
That's cool neil
not offended at all by it except when overly used like teach just said or when coming from little kids
Personally, I will continue to say friggin ahole...lol
Haha.
I was raised without anyone even saying "damn" around us. I do say that myself and some mild cuss words; but both of my kids can swear like sailors. I just ask that they don't use that language when speaking with or around me. My son and DIL used to swear a lot in front of my grandson; but once he started talking they've tried to cool it down a lot.
that's good Nef....that's what made me stop
Yes. When/if we have kids I'll be curbing it too.
good for you neil :)
start now; because it's a hard habit to break! ;-)
they're gonna hear it once they start school but still
Hey. I grew up hearing it now and then and I didn't go around cussing inappropriately... and still don't.
We were taught not to do that.
lol...but then again my kids probably thought fudge was a bad thing when they were little...."AWW Fudge"
Haha. I've always thought it was a good thing myself. Pretty delicious! A little too sweet for me now though. But a little now and then is ok.
That's true neil, just when they are learning to talk they will repeat everything and sometimes at very inappropriate times.
Yep. That's why you have to teach them.
Yeah, they know that now...lol
my step mother swore a lot and my half sister and brother were swearing at ages 2 and 4 (when I first met them). I just thought it was nasty then and they still have pretty nasty mouths now as adults; but that's how they were raised
kids model what they hear around them when they are little
Oh I don't think we have "nasty mouths" even now. "Whakatane" aside... don't ask. :P
lol....you know I have to ask
They do try not to swear around me because I've asked them; and it's still tough for them to do. They did learn about what society does and doesn't tolerate along the way thought
Well not saying more about that in here, sorry.
This name at y-a-h-o-o, if you want to know.
lol...okay neil
Shoot me an email there and I'll answer.
I can leave if you'd like. ;-)
Haha Nef... not necessary. I wouldn't in here anyway.
lol
(not having much luck with the last 100 here anyway
And the email thing applies to you too.
<----ponders now if she really wants to know...hmmm
thanks, neil. I know; sometimes my age shows....
Well it's pretty funny.
Huh Nef?
how's that ?
not caring for the coarse language and asking my own siblings to watch their language around me...
I feel old when I say that.
Don't think that has anything to do with age.
I agree doesn't mean your old nef
okay, how about old-fashioned?
:)
:-)
and nothings wrong with that :)
Down to the dirty dozen
no, smores, I don't think so either. The Aunt who raised me (and had been County Superintendent of schools) used to say that a person's intelligence couldn't be measured if they only use 4 letter words.
Eh. Could be, may not be? And like smores says...
So don't want the Whakatane story huh?
And I say that too, Nef. ;)
lol...actually I do...was gonna finish here
Oh ok.
my em is smooremuse@gmail.com
I try not to be offended by other peoples' language unless it's aimed at me. And most people here don't swear in the chog either
not sure why I didn't just do that to begin with...lol
No. You don't see me doing that in the chog.
the hell you say...
sorry...
Well some don't like to, smores. In case those spam bots grab the addresses.
LOL! You're going to slay me now! :-)
oops...forgot about the ar6
lol
I am giving up for the night. I started working on this grid last night and dozed off on it; now I'm doing the same thing trying to get through it. Wishing you all a good night! And Happy Babbling, Everybody! Niters! :-)
Night Nef, sleep well dear :)
anyone still here?
Yes. Check email smores.
Having a ar dtime staying awake but it's too early for bed. I may not make it to fliptime!
hard time
Hey jilli.
I just made it halfway through.
okay neil...1 word left
Orjillibus... sorry. Now that you're a bus and all.
Hi invictus. Don't believe we've met?
Out of fuel, neil
And we're close in age too.
Hi Jilli...like the bus
I come and go...have since maybe 2004.
The bus needs refuelling huh?
I see.
My mom comes here too, but she doesn't chat much either. Her name is bigbirdsboss.
Oh? Haven't seen her name yet.
never saw her, invictus
I'm here but am about to go to bed...
But I'm probably not here enough.
I'm trying to get my dad to join.
hi sue -- how goes it?
But I don't know if everyone could survive the awful punfests that would happen with him, ruru and me all in the chog at the same time. Scary!
pretty good, jilli, Frank and I are both coping with things reasonably well at the moment
Glad to "hear" that Sue.
And... hi!
hi, neil :-)
My mom is better at this than me. She has like 4.4 million points. But, she isn't a chatter.
ok, enough for me, early meetings tomorrow so I'd better get some sleep. See you all tomorrow!
I can take on any punner and keep up
i'm more than ready to pun with your dad..:D
