Ruby, I am actually acutely curious about the correlation of sugar consumption and depression. I notice when I cut sugar out or even WAY down, I feel much better and think clearer.

I am actively trying cut it totally out. I have a fam member that is suffering from depression and has been for years, and has high sugar consumption. I can't seem to get him to try to cut it down. Excersize is also an amazing tool against depression.

I always fluctuate quite a lot too - don't be disheartened. You probably should only weigh yourself once a week...just make sure you do it at the same time of day

(I know, who has time; right? I always try to get up early to do it and end up falling asleep! :-/
And if 15 minutes seems too long at first, try three sessions of five minutes. Nef is right, it's good for your whole body.
There are a lot of guided meditations on line if you need help easing back into it.

As it has been Christmas my neighbours across the roads tiny garbage bin was over flowing. Our neighbours that we share a bin with are away so I went across the road and emptied some of theirs into ours and told them our bin was free this week. I get to the bus stop free bus because the ticket machine system wasn't working

Yep Bugs a couple of little communities have lost everything.
But no loss of life, so far I think, which is the most important thing.
My parents live there and thankfully it is no where near them. They even see smoke they leave. The evacuation kit is still ready to go.

Liz kind of used to it when we lived in the Blue Mountains and nearly lost the house in the fires in 1980
Must've been scary. My hubby was in Victoria on Ash Wednesday and we were talking about the fires that were close to him then.
I was about 3 and I remember very clearly the fire man coming to the house and telling dad to leave as there was a grass fire that the train brakes caused. Turned into a bush fire. I remember Dad stuffing tennis balls into the gutter down pipes and filling the gutters with water. We then left and went to the 'city'. The wind changed and the back wall needed repainting. The poor fireman that lived next door lost everything. I remember this like yesterday even though I was about 3
I can understand why! These things leave a lasting impression.
My mother can't remember but I can.
I think we lost the outback dunny in the first fires just before I was born.
Well I hope you and your family (and everyone else of course) stay safe and that things calm down pretty quickly.

Lady, most of us in the PacNW (pacific northwest) and BC keep chains in the car, gloves, blankets, extra water, granola bars... I carry games, towels, shovel as well.
I keep a candle in the car because it will keep the car warm without killing me if I am ever trapped. I have games and shovel and food but towels are a good idea stid
even down by the water like Bugs and us we know that if snow doesn't get us, other hazards might. Earthquake and landslide hazard prep is very much like snow prep!
My g.f and I saw the baby bottle warmer for the car and exclaimed 'Constant warm coffee YAH'. Which led to my thought of using it for warming food like soups.
never thought of candles, but I have a few extra chemical handwarmers, just in case.
i have a kit of critical papers in a cabinet by the front door to grab if i ever have to run for it and a hand crank flashlight in the car
Generally speaking, I travel on well-maintained and well-traveled roads so even if something happens I probably don't have to wait too long for help.

I'm popping in and out now and just read what you guys put in your cars for emergencies. Here in MN we have space blankets, 3 cans (1 inside the other: one to pee in, 1 for the candle and 1 to melt snow in); toilet paper; warm clothes, shovel; maybe some sand; and some hard candy too.
Well, I don't have a "kit" but we have some things in the cars, some in the wellhouse, some in the house. Our home is single-story so even in a big shake we can probably get in to grab supplies. Have to hope so, the generator attaches to the house, and then sends power to the well. If the house goes, we'll have to hike to Mother's.
Did you see that couple that had everything in a fire safe safe in Queens that survived the fire after Sandy?
