dee, it's an overnight voyage on the ferry. we have booked a cabin, and we are taking our own car. some peeps stay up most of the night, sleeping in designated armchairs.

there are others who do the voyage during the day...i prefer the night....we both sleep like babies, and arrive fully refreshed. i think it takes about 10-12 hours.
Sleeping in a chair would make you start your vacation very tired, I would imagine.... smart to book a cabin.

i didn't realise port philip bay was so big...until we went over last year. by the time we reach the 'heads', through the rocks into bass strait, it is almost 4 hours.

The reason US spelling is different is because there was a move at one time to simplify spelling on the part of the Americans. To some extent, it took hold, with words like color, colour, etc. Usually the simplified spelling is the American spelling.

He had the flu mist vaccine last Friday. I did not realize that is a live vaccine. Saturday morning he woke up with a high fever, aches, chills, etc. That lasted for about 3-4 days. Then it shifted to a low-grade fever with a cold. Now he has the pins and needles throat with the death rattle cough. :(

Bitter cold..7:00am Had to sh*** our horse...8:00am rcv'd. notice we're being sued...9-2 very very busy at work...3:00pm lost our phones and internet. They were fixing something or other and forgot to put us back on...4:00pm son calls and asks me to come stay with him. He has to have surgery..6:00pm...finally in the kitchen cooking dinner...brr, it's cold in here. Turn up the thermostat..nothing. Furnace blower gone! Now did I mention it was bitter cold? and after hours? You try to get a repairman on a 25 below and after hours. I am dressed in long johns, ski pants,three wool sweaters and praying the pipes don't freeze before we get things fixed. I need a break!

lived in DC area and grew up in Illinois and knew how to drive in the snow - but it was flat there - here everything is on a hill - you are either at the bottom, side or top of the hill - makes driving very different
I learned to drive here, so i'm used to the hills.
this mornig just waved my hand over the windows - it was that powdery
I remember asking my uncle 'on what hill?' when he suggested we take the kids sledding in the Cleveland area.
there are hills in Cleveland - where the dunes left ridges - my sister lives there and have taken the kids sledding there - but one hill was even artificially made
and most are in a park or in the Emerald Necklace. Compared to here, it's flat.

she started refusing to come up stairs and sleep with me
so i stood on the stairs and called her and she came halfwayu p and stopped
so i picked her up and brought her upstairs and she ran like she was sh** out of a cannon down the stairs
what was leaking upstairs?
this got me to thinking about what was bothering her so i started thinking about how my gas space heater had been so wierd that i stoppe using it and i decided to call the HVAC guy $$$$$
he came and he said my flue was unlined (1920s house so not a surprise) stopped up with crud and the pipe was rusted through in my basement and my house was full of carbonmonoxide

so he fixed all of that and for about a week then my cat wouldn't come DOWN stairs!
this was a problem because that was where her food was. . .and where she normally did her business

any way she started coming downstairs and just refused to be on the floor.. .but now things are (moreorless)) normal and she now for the first time in 15 years uses a little box

hah. well, i am happy you had no ill effects, and that the hole in th flue didn't become a fire, and that the cat is well and using the box. many happy endings!

but when it was snowing she had to go somewhere and the basement concrete floor was it
people said my house did not smell like cat most of the time so it worked and saved me a fortune in kitty litter
We have 3 cats, the one we had 1st always wanted to go outside. When we got the other 2 they used the litter box for a few months and then started going outside with our oldest.
that's one of the things i like about cats is that they are self-training
