we had a bit of a blow-up yesterday. he feels like our relationship has gotten very one-sided, with him doing almost all the work. i do agree that he does perform most of the household duties, which i agree is unfair. but i think on a more emotional level, i make efforts that he just doesnt recognize as such, so in his eyes, i make little or no effort.

i think it would be helpful if we specifically defined the roles around the house and actually assigned one of us to do them. usually one of us just does something because it needs to be done, but i do agree that he ends up doing more than i do.
but i think if i KNOW something is MY job, then i will be more likely to ensure it gets done.

I used to rag on my husband when we first got married. He did nothing. I told him he was a victim of an over-indulgent mother.
my coworker put it a really good way: in our minds, we want things to be even and equal. but the reality is that we each have a different capacity that is separate from our ability. for example, my commute to work each day is 1.5 hours each way. his is 20-30 minutes. i get up 1.5 hours earlier than he does, but we often arrive home around the same time (or i get home later than him). based solely on that, he has more capacity to do some errands, especially those that are closer to home -- because HE is closer to home.
I have found that most husbands like to vaccum. Hey, it involves a power tool. Why not.

Eva, I would agree about your emotional efforts. I have seen you post here about things you are planning for him that involve a lot of special thought on your part.
the problem i encounter, when we DO try to talk about it is he says "well, its fine that i do it -- most of the time." the problem is that theres no way for me to know the difference between "most of the time" and the OTHER time. it would be better if i had things that were MINE to do, and i did them ALL of the time. but the caveat is that he cant comment on when/how i do them. its my responsibility and i will get it done. he can only call me out if im NOT doing it. and vice versa.

i've started the 5:2 diet.i can eat normally for 5 days and then go down to 500 calories for 2 days a week, and they are not consecutive, but i'm thinking of doing 6;2 which is ok

Mine is 500 calories per day for the 27 day cycle. But the HCG (injectable) really does prevent hunger. I lost 81 # 2 years ago on it.

You start shots day one, first two days are 'load' days...you boost up on food; mostly fats. then shots continue. then you continue the 500 calories for two days past shots...then there's a 3rd and fo$/4th stage where you gradually add things back into your diet but can eat far more than 500 calories.
aww bless him, but he's obviously done well to fake it for so many years, but it's sad that he is so ashamed about it.there are so many people in the world who can't read and write and could get the help but don't know how to and those who are just so embarrassed to ask.it's such a shame

i agree soodle.i know when we where in the hospital with our daughter and didn't know if she was going to live or not i was thinking what 'if she doesn't make it, how will i get through' but she has so i can't imagine the pain she is going through because we were lucky and sometimes i feel guilty for feeling happy as others are losing their children
