Good morning all! I also have a list in profile if needed
hello again
102 before lunch
Hi all :)
((lizlin))
Ruby - hope you're feeling a bit better today and have some news about Rafaella. Preferably good news!
she has entropion in one eye and I spoke with the vet and he did surgery this past week and we'll know how she fares i two
yesterday was the nadire of the winter
Did the vet sound hopeful or noncommittal?
nadir*
We all have those days and I hope that people here were able to help you a bit :)
non com but he is also the owner, so I think he was fair
Is your husband treating you better today?
I am just glad that the condition showed up that early as, if untreated, it's chrnic and none of the vets here have enough experience with chows
he is a sh** but I'm handling it better, standing up for yself more
babble helps!
I'm glad it showed up too - well that is if it had to happen at all. She'll get over the surgery quickly - hope it sorts it out for her :)
they offered us two other babies but she is the one I want
Do you know much about the condition? If it happens in one eye, what's the likelihood of it happening to the other eye or recurring?
You've got your heart set on her - I understand that!
I don't know enough to say, but it is very common in chows and.surprisingly. in many other breeds, especially the oriental ones
OK - to be brutal - if it doesn't solve her problem, will you take her with an eye problem or one of the other pups. Or will you look further until you find another?
I fell in love with her photo because she absolutely resembles my first chow chow, Rosie
Brings back lovely memories I'm sure :)
I'm not sure. Ruby had the problem, never corrected, and she had a constant tear stain down her face, but didn't lose the eye or seem to have any pain
it is hard to say. She is very expensive and I am reluctant to take on another money drain
I think that's important - that they don't suffer. You can cope with a tear stain. How did it affect her vision?
Rosie ws thhe most beautiful of all of our chows, she could have been an international grand champion
That's also important - no matter how much you fall in love with her before you have her, it's harder when you do have her - you become much more attached. If the eye will need constant vet attention, that could be very costly.
it is hard to say about her vision. I think she was OK in that department but in the last 2 yrs, she started to get a little bit def.
deaf*
In the end, I believe, whatever decision you make will be the right one - even if it's a hard decision to make.
of course, we love our dogs. no matter what. Max was autistic and very weird. but we loved him. nonetheless
Max is the black one, pictured. and I would never buy another black chow as I think the inbreeding takes its toll
How can anyone not love dogs? Silly question I know. I love dogs but I know some people don't!
What is a chow's most natural colouring.
and I know people who, once they lose a dog, do not replace it.
I think any shade of red through blonde or brown
There are whitish ones. black ones and also short haired ones, but not for me
my two expériences with black ones. even though they were beautiful. have been disastrous
I can understand not replacing a dog - we didn't but that's because us kids left home and my parents travelled. I've never had a dog as an adult - life style just isn't fair on it. Too much travelling or in the past work!
my then to be husband gave me rosie when I left the hospital after cancer surgery. Shetook care of me and was my first dog.
before that. i thought I was a cat person
I really hope it all works out Ruby - I'll try and catch you this week to keep up with the news. Won't be babbling as we have guests arriving tomorrow from Canada.
Enjoyyour guests, Lizlin. it's a lot of work but it's lovely to have friends coming from so far way!
Funny - I stayed with my brother after surgery in 2002 - Tessa, the Chocolate lab would wait at the bottom of the stairs for me every morning.
she'd walk next to me - almost supporting me!
(needless to say . I'm still having problems with the new computer)
Are you finding it any easier as you use it more?
I've found some. butnot all. of the punctuation.
But when I write a proper letter. it garbles my paragraphs
but it's quick!
That's progress! Just tell everyone you're using a modern "text" style of writing and don't need any punctuation or paragraphs!
Quick is good!
hahah
the garbling s weird
Strange - I can understand not finding punctuation but not garbling paras!
it i s very odd
I think I'm hitting some key with my pinkie
Possibly - it's probably very touch sensitive.
yes
and I', a heavy typist
I'm sure that the more you use it, the easier it'll become and you'll probably even gain a lighter touch - bit like driving different cars, they take getting used to!
time for a nap, lizlin, see you soon
time for a nap, lizlin, see you soon
xx
See you soon. Thinking of you and Raffie xx
Could I get a clue for tr6/21, please?

Happily Sprung ahead. My favorite time of year.
imo we should be on DST all the time - I'd much rather evening light than early ligh
First column E clue please?
ep4
ty molly
I agree 2Bit.
i DISAGREE. i want the morning light. however it seems clear to me that we should just be on one time all the time either way rather than this obnoxiously annoying back and forth
I loved that period during the "energy crisis" when it was extended all year long.
there's not much that pisses me off as much as DST.
we will jump on March 31. Good afternoon all
can I have st5 for the 8?
clue for the 2nd T 4th column please?
Wow, it never occurred to me that Daylight Savings Time made people angry.

I don't like it either, hursh. Messes up my rhythm and that has nasty side effects.
it makes me angrier with each passing year

very nice combination, Mom
always, Sprite
Oh Molly no one would throw tomatoes
*throws tomatoes*
I don't get upset by the DST I just wish they would pick one and leave it alone
I have managed to gray the last column :-)
woot, that shows talent, Mom :D
:-) for me anyway
for me as well... am not that far yet
mrs2bit is recovering pretty well. We were ambitious yesterday - visited newest niece uptown (born Thursday, still nameless), so that was a medicinal visit, but tiring
Glad to hear she is on the mend.
I am very glad to hear she is coming along nicely.
what is she recovering from?
had her gall bladder out 3/2
ahh my hubby had that a couple of years ago
hello all - hope all are weel - am mising the first st 5 14 I think please

pic of miss2bit & her new baby cousin in my profile
Time for me to bzz...
Have a good day all. Pfft!
bye bye Bzzz have a great day
What a cute picture!
she is growing up so fast
yes, last night was her first in "big girl bed" - mommy can't lift her in & out for a while...
Perfect timing then.
how did she like sleeping in a big girl bed?
she did well - probably bolstered by the long, exciting napless day yesterday
a new milestone
yes, it was a little maudlin for mommy & daddy :-)
I bet
I must scoot. I wish you all a great day. ((Hugs)) to all of you
bye Mom *hug*
but she has a "lifetime" crib - we lowered it long ago, last night the front came off & replaced by a toddler rail. Eventually the sides are replaced, and the front & back become footboard & headboard
so for her, the transition was minimal
those are neat beds. Nothing like that was around when we were raising our boys
((Sprite)) bye for now
good morning everyone:)
danbit.i have also seen some very good plans where the frot rail is totally removed from older cribs when the child outgrows it and the entire thing is turned into a childs activity centre
hiya crossy :) I found a copy of that ebook I asked you for some time ago!
my mad typin skillz are as sharp as ever i see:((
good stuff sprite:))
yeah, am happy. It was in the middle of a series, so not nice to miss it.
i am sorry i dropped my the ball on that sprite,my mind dirfts hither and you and goes down different trails, oftem forgetting other things
yon
no problem, sweetie. *hug*
:)
though i do have a new one ready for you right now!
lovely!
it is called The Terror by dan simmons.it combines fiction and non-fiction to create a adventure/horror story about a failed mission to the pole by early sailing explorers
That is cool 2Bit. Back in the day, we just put a mattress and box spring on the floor when they were toddlers and then raised it up when they were ready.
but i must warn you,it is large, huge, massive, this mook makes gigantic look tiny by comparison
book
as long as it is fun reading, it can never be big enough
i have yet to read it myself.just loading it as many people spoke highly of it
loaded
*Knows some people who mentally live in a lifetime crib* : D
you know me, I'll try everything once (almost everything)
i shall send it to you now
thanks crossy
ok,sprite,it is sent

Morning, everyone!
Hi there crossy...been back on my diet...but would love to drool vicariously...what's for brunch?
howdy mimi
Good morning ((mimi))
brunch today is rather plain i am afraid.am starting with cherry yogurt then a pair of soft boiled brown eggs with toast soldiers for dipping and some fresh squeezed pulp free oj
(Jilly) (crossy)
i have to pay for yesterdays brunch:)
Still sounds wonderful...*sigh*...what was yesterday?
hello
today is the first day warm enough to have the door open
I'm having JD sausage and biscuit sandwiches with milk...plain as well but yummy and EASY to fix---that's key for me for breakfast. Found another great breakfast food---Special K flatbread sandwiches. Yum.
yesterday was hash browns fried in butter with diced sweet valencia onion and diced brown sugar and maple sausages with scrabled eggs with shredded extra old quebec apple wood smoked cheddar on the side
(ruby)
((ruby))
*fainting*
((ruby))!!
Extreme food envy here
hehe,it is the way crossy rolls
What---no mention of bacon?
ruby - enjoy the fresh air and warmth
yesterday I made a cross between a Cuban omelet and a potato latke with onions fried in butter and served with sour cream
Do you still have snow ruby?
serious comfort food
Well, 77 left, must leave for now...bbl Lots to do today and it looks to be a gloriously sunny day..
Bye, Jilly---(hug)
only snow is in a few serious piles that came off the roof but I just walked the garden and it's time for serious pruning, everything is coming up
no bacon.i thought adding bacon to the brown sugar and maple sausages would of been over the top:)
Oh, no, crossy....bacon is NEVER over the top!!
Lovely, just inspect the garden ruby, leave the pruning for another day
:))
21 left and no words in sight
or for another person
and your eats sound awsome as well, ruby
I used leftover baked potato
Yes, lol
are your flowers coming up yet, chrissie
In the background now on TV and watching a BBC special with Michael Palin touring the Himalayas...breathtaking. Sad for Tibet's situation, though.
uh oh, somebody wants a martini (and it's not Ruffino.....)
Just the primulas and daffodils, buds coming on trees and bushes
Well, if you're making martinis count me in
morning all!
Hi sue
(sue)
had a busy day yesterday so today we are sleeping in :-)
That's what Sundays are for
we went furniture shopping (just looking at this point) and then to a Japanese mall for dinner and to pick up some groceries - my son, bless his heart, decided he wanted to come along (he's 23) and we all had a really good time
Sounds lovely. Is it mothers day in the US too?
Going to the PB for this, but glad the word queer(s) allowed here...in another game they won't acknowledge the word! Hey, people, it is, after all, an adjective first!
no, that's not until May sometime
No, Chrissie, Mother's Day is in May here (and often on my birthday).
Second Sunday in May.
well, that is silly, Mimi! It's also a verb, which may be why the plural is accepted. And I've put some nice omelets and hash browns in the PB, so enjoy! :-)
It's in March here, 9 months after fathers day:)
that is pretty cute, Chrissie :-)
Funny it's 9 mos. after FD, Chrissie...like the "father" had his "day" and now the mom gets hers....big time!!
Father's day is the 3rd Sunday in June here.
Happy Mother's Day to all the UK Moms
hi, Molly! Cute mouse :-)
ty Molly
You know, sue, if people were more concerned about actually not BEING prejudiced and hateful instead of just trying to be PC about words, we'd all be better off. Words are important but if we didn't have the attitudes, the words would never be offensive since they wouldn't even exist in those contexts. OK---stepping off the soap box now.
Yes, Molly, that is one adorable mouse!!!
Round of applause for Mimi
I absolutely agree, mimi!
how many words today?
123
thanks mp
Yw
after all that shopping, my son invited Frank and me to come over to watch the movie Crash - lots of food there for thought about various prejudices - if you haven't seen it I would highly recommend it
This Himalaya show I'm watching along with Babble is arousing my feelings of spiritual harmony.....
I have that in my Netflix queue, sue....will plan on watching it later today...thanks.
Made up word for today: querts....that phenomenon when your spray bottle nozzle doesn't quite get the water to spray and just fizzles.
Babble arouses your feelings of spirituality? Or you are watching while playing?
Yes, have it on in the background...Babble mostly makes me hungry listening to everyone's menu.
I always try quert and I am always surprised when it is refused!
LOL, Dee.
change the last letter and you do get a real word, though...
I have actual;ly got all the q's today which is another surprise!
nice, dee! I'm still missing one.
Hint: Go up then down
I would try a plural then, Sue :-)
oh, duh, how did I miss that? thanks molly!
I don't know Sue, but I missed it for a while too.
Nice chatting, all...have a good Sunday and hugs all around.
see you later, mimi!
Bye Mimi
is that because the qu 5 stays hidden?
Move me on to any black square
good morning everyone
hi ruru!
howdy ruru
crossy!
I get a spiritual sense when I finish a grid finally
sorta Babble-nirvana
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. (Unless daylight savings time makes you grumpy)
all it makes me is an hour late
doesn't more daylight time make people happy?
I hope we get some clear skies in the next few days so I can see the comet...
Apparently not.
oh
That would be cool Sue. Do you have a telescope?
no although Frank has some pretty good binoculars
comet/ or was that a clue?
the university has a nice telescope although its placement is not ideal (top of a building, lots of lights)
when the mrs and i had our first date it just happened to be the the next morning after the fall time change.i was so excited,i forgot to reset the clocks and seeing as how i am habitually an hour early for everything,we showed up at the cinema 2 hours early for the first show.was awkward for a bit hehe
no, there's really a comet that is close to the sun right now, should be visible in the northern hemisphere right after sunset if you have an unobstructed view of the horizon and not too much light
I'd love to have a place in the country (away from all the lights) and a good telescope.
well, that gave you an extra two hours to get to know each other, crossy! And obviously it worked out well :-)
that would be awesome, molly, I would like that too
it did indeed,suze
was probably a little rough on his car seats though
lol,ru,i was the perfct gentleman on that first date
please can i have a clue for the 8

I didn't know it was "that way" between you and Jill. I won't tell. : D
Well, I would hope ruru would show up at a coffee shop to see me... ;)
He was the one who showed up.
Afternoon all. So don't get the squashed tin for the 8! And where do I go to find a list please.
Not exactly squashed. If a tin can has this in it, you probably won't buy it.

Sssh...don't mention daylight savings time...it makes people grumpy.
I love daylight savings time. it makes me happy
that's funny
Me too Peri. I don't like short, dark days. I love this time of year.
you don't have to know me to call me darling peri :D
Hello everyone! Happy Sunday!

Thank you, Molly for another sight of the happy hamster!
Bye Peri!
It is very cute!
I po 5/14 over this grid early this mo 4/5ing and got 120 words. Although I don't de4/6 it necessary to do a story,I will write one anyway. So here is a story of clues for the te 5/12 of March. While I was a ne 4/5 in high school and never got in trouble,my sister was making enough trouble for the both of us. She drove my parents ne 5/10 with her antics. My sister was a snob&expected everyone to treat her like a qu5/16 Her pe5/12 influenced her to make bad choices. One time, she had an unfortunate me 4/5ing with a police officer when she put a de 4/5 in my mom's car, along with several other de4/12, after drinking & driving. Needless to say, she got into de 4/6 shit. The police officer suspended her license&her driving priveleges were dr4/6ped. She was grounded for many months. My sister was or 5/12ed not to leave the house once she got home from school. So she mo4/6d around the house. She also got into other so4/5id activities that involved drugs. My parents felt like they were at the end of their ro4/5 with her,but they never gave up. With suppo4/5 from my parents,my sister eventually straightened out. After high school, she found a job, moved out and re4/4ed an apartment. She also went to counseling and so4/4ed out her self-doubt issues. Husband is looking at me with a st 5/10 look because he wants the computer.I am going to go outside and enjoy the warm Spring te4/5eratures and tr 4/5ical-like weather. After that,I'm going to watch the Kevin Bacon film Tr 7/32. I hope you have found so 4/5 mo 4/5 words with this story.I will po4/5 my story in my profile for those who might need it later.I will mo4/5 definitely be back later to get the fireworks. Bye all!
ah, this grid is a test of memory. filled with babbe unique words
Hi Min! TY For the story clue!
very fun
Love the story clue!
TY minv!
TY Min! Got quite a few I had missed!
13 to go, no sign of the 8 thou???
mo 7/36 and mo 8/50
An mo 8/50 word is plural of the mo 7/36 word Ishult.
When in doubt, try to pluralize word with this puzzle
That is funny, so many people think that is a hamster. It's a mouse. : D
don't have the mo7 yet
It makes me think of Mr. Jingles, from The Green Mile.
That mo7/36 word ends with the de 5/12 word Ishult
Okay, doing grid by goal of blackening columns...3 remain..the esses...MUST leave to get house deep cleaned for company next weekend....bye all!

Bye Jillyjill!

i prefer to think of it as a hamster, thank you. :)
Ishult & car--add a consenent to the first & then make it pl & you've got it
Hi Scribe!
Good morning-
I wonder if I leave my house if it will get deep cleaned while I am gone. : D
Mine does! We have our cleaning lady back!
i've been trying that for a while now, seems bot
that is our molly. a cockeyed optimist! :)
It's my way of remaining optimistic as there is no budget for a cleaning lady.
i would love to have a cleaner, but irst i must lean up enough to have one. :D
When I blew out my knee for the last time, we really had no choice.
For the foreseeable future, I am the cleaning lady. But I do tip myself well. : )
ah, the last word is eluding me and i have grown quite cross with it. going to do laundry.
fun to do a grid entirely on one's own. challenging.
I thought of hamster right away, I think because I had a hamster once that lived in a bird cage, and he loved to get onto the swing and swing (at night, of course - "squeak, skrunk, squeak, scrunk . . ")
I have one left...thanks to Molly's list for the last 10.

nan, have a Canadian question for you. Does your health insurance cover you if you retire to the US?
ok i havbe some movies due at the library. bbl
not sure, bichon -- we have insurance from my husband's company that covers 30 days travel insurance, but I would think that for medicare, the primary residence would have to be in Canada. We can submit receipts to medicare when we return from a foreign country, but the amount covered is only for what the same procedure would cost in Canada --- not much good in the states, where medical care is astronomical
I was wondering about Canadians who retire to Florida.
It cost my friend almost $700 to have 4 stitches put in her cut finger last winter and the doctor wouldn't even look at her until she paid half up front. It makes one wonder about the ethics of a doctor whose heart and mind his in his wallet.
Was this in Florida?
in California
TaDa!
Wonder why Canadians would retire to the US, besides the warm southern weather
I wonder why Canadians would retire to the US at all! - lovely to visit in the winter, but wouldn't want to live there!
missing one q -- have the 2 fives and their plurals -- the last?
2 - 5s 6 -5-6
duh - missed the most obvious - ty
one s from the top and one from the bottom -- anything weird?
just the one from the bottom now
s's done
is there a ts?
no
ty - missig a tr then
10 left and at a standstill
forge ahead nan..it's not too hard
forge ahead nan..it's not too hard
have you finished, ru?
yes.. last night
wd - think I may have to see if Molly has a list in her profile - down to 8 now so will plug away for a little while first
you can do it nan.. you are way smarter than me
doubt it

Yeah, bichon, but not about the grid.....!

hi xeiluj ... I see you are in the midlands so you cant be far from me ... I am in the east midlands.
I am in Redditch
I am near Retford in Notts.
I cant place Redditch .... my geography is rubbish!!!!
How did the ditch get red?
Not sure, let me know if you find out!! lol
lol!!
The first recorded mention of Redditch ("Red-Dych", thought to be a reference to the red clay of the nearby River Arrow) is in 1348, the year of the outbreak of the Black Death.
Wow, that is amazing. We are one of those 'New Towns' that sprout up now and again
very interesting BabbleRabble.
just located Redditch ... you are further south than me.
BabbleRabble are you located in England?

gastroe
*takes a sip from wine glass and leans back in chaise lounge on deck and looks up at clear blue sky remembering why so much money went into the second floor deck*
Right next door to the Penalty Box, we should set up the Confessional Suite. Babblers could go there, and confess their untold sins. Being a nosey parker by nature, I am happy to volunteer as a moderator...,,
*looks askance at soodle*
loves ya soodle but aint confessing to ya
Oh my dear God. Soodle as The Babble Confessor.
nope i is claiming my rights as a quaker. . . .
Imagines all sorts of gasping, laughing and snorting coming from the other side of the screen.
JMC, you are KILLING me. Wine AND a clear blue sky??? Savour this moment, my friend. Savour this moment!

She may be a peasant, but I'd love to join Molls for her Sunday chicken.

WOW you have been busy.
no these are sulptures by a friend of mine who died 20+ years ago....
I will bring the wine
red is best but i is open to white. . . .
they sound interesting ... must look.
Ru will materialise. He always does!
only drink red.
<only drink if A) it has alcohol in it, and B), it can be poured.
I was outside most of the day. When inside I was decorating for St. Patrick's Day. It's a good time of year for Pagans. : D
not bad for christians and others. . . spring is good
those are good rules soodle. . . you will do fine at my house

In my profile
Thanks for the st5 - looking....
hi mich and pablo
Thanks Molly!
I must be off now, things to do before bedtime .... goodnight all and happy babbling,
bye mo
it's a rare occasion when I don't drink wine. :D
you might not drink what i am drinking ru. . . a box wine
black box chardonnay
Box wines from Trader Joe's are good.
i like the fact that it is easy not to drink more than a glass with a box wine
hi kap
you're right jm..
hi jm
some box wines can be pretty decent too
Box wines are good. Guilt factor significantly reduced by not seeing the level decreasing as one tipples.
black box seems okay. . .
i just hate picking up a bottle and there being nothing there. . . .
This is what I like. Substance use.
LOL
And then that incriminating clinkery
Is the Mo 7/8 a compound? I'm just not getting it...
It's probably obvious...
dang if i know pablo. . . .
Have you ever pulled open the box to see if anything is left in the plastic inner bag?
Clinkety clink as you put your recycling bin out.
mo 7 not less (mostly) + a crease in a can is a ....
thanks... should've got it...
ty ru. . ..
well i think i must go look and see if the ribs have defrosted enough to cook. . . bbl
79 left. . . *poof*
This conversation is oozing with Irish Catholic guilt. : D
Bye Jmc. (((Hugs))(
31. Bottoms up.
Not me.
is there such a thing as Irish catholic guilt?
Are you kidding?
All they do is feel guilty.
What Kap said..
So I hear.
Ru, the bad priests are not the personification of Irish Catholics.
how many words today?
123
123.
ty
oh.. jewish guilt I know... Irish Catholic.. not really
howdy again my babble friends:) back for my last 36 words:)
But, the bad eggs are having a serious effect on modern (?) Ireland.
Ru, tomayto/tomato. !
aren't there bad eggs in every religion?
aren't there bad eggs in every religion?
Yep, most definitely.
home i am
howdy cos,welcome you are:)
it's just a different horse that pulls the cart.. but depends on the yolk.. er I mean yoke..
different fan clubs is all:)
For sure. But it seems that the Catholic church, with its Chastity laws has created monsters. The unanswered question is, were thesec
These guys monsters before they took their vows, or did the turn them into monsters
Sorry. Did the church turn then into kiddy fiddling monsters.
isn't that the chicken before the egg soodle?
No, I think they were predisposed before becoming priests.
I agree mgbrown
the church needs a stricter screening process for their priests.
I think abusing children is the lowest of the low
exactly cos...
they should allow women priests too
yep. that too.
and married priests.
yes.. married to any sex.. (watches the Pope pass out)
Yes, all of that. The screening process is probably the most important though.
what pope? :P
need help with a ST 5/14
A lot of the problems people have with the Catholic doctrine boil down to sex. Denying it, restricting it to child making only, or denying gender (as in women priests)
exactly molly
Hmmm. I was told that seninarians, (wannabe priests) were told to sleep with their hands folded in prayer outside the blankets. Sheesh. N
Hmmm. I was told that seninarians, (wannabe priests) were told to sleep with their hands folded in prayer outside the blankets. Sheesh. N
I have an issue with their anti-gay stance too however
I have an issue with their anti-gay stance too however
popealarm.com you can sign up to get a text message when the new pope is announced lol
I hope they don't elect another nazi
the only st5/14 I have is a pl of st4/6
Speaking of which (as I told Soodle earlier) one of the top three contenders for next pope is an Irishman. Sean O'Malley.
red shoes or not
I hope (and it wont be) Tim Dolan
ill have to research sean omalley
I think the new pope will be either from Africa or from a Spanish speaking country....South America or Central America.
I still can't believe the ex-Pope was on Twitter. That just seems so weird to me.
my old parish is on twitter but they only post when someone in the church dies "please pray for such and such. they passed from yadda yadda"
I don't know. They like to keep the Italians in the Vatican and that would make Angelo Scola the odds on favorite.
why not? he's a twit
I think too much shit has come out about Irish clergy for any Irish guy to get the gig
yeah im betting on scola
I don't see them electing an American as Pope. There's too much dissension here.
hearing a lot more about ouelette
I think the next pope should be a drag queen.. they already dress the part. :D
I don't know about the ex-Pope being a twit. He's the only one who had sense enough to retire in 400 years.
if scola is elected there will be jokes about pope scola
pepsi cola
lol thats true molly
I don't think he chose to "retire" .. I think he vacated as something is coming out about high ranking vatican officials.
it wont be pope scola though. he'll choose a new name
maybe pope sickle?
the church needs a liberal version John Paul II.
Oh I agree Ru. I don't buy the retirement thing one bit.
Well if the next Pope is black, we're all done for. According to Nostradamus!
or if he chooses his name to be Peter :P
LOL Cos
how about a clue for the 8 and the 7s? pleaes?
maybe pope kentucky?
mo7/36 and mo8/50
...waiting....
don't get it ru
clue for theose mo words plesae.
I still reckon the shit is going to hit the fan re Benedict. There is a serious reason he threw in the towel
there's plenty of KY around the parishes these days
lol@ popealarm.com..just about fell out of my chair laughing when i saw that
*ducks*
I know, I laugh when people say "it's no big deal, he just retired."
i bought up possible sex scandal and my friends laughed me out the room
did the job qualifications say he had to die on the job?
I have to figure it's non-Catholics or uninformed Catholics who say that.
got the mo word. ty
mo+cons+car ding and plural
Pretty much. Being the pope is a life long commitment.
Not specifically Crossy. But its been 600 years since any of his predeccess
Predessors did.
well, the bartenders creeo applies here as well i thing.always avoid politic and religion
and it makes things awkward for the church to have two living Popes.. so its logical that its a lifetime commitment
if they jumped off a cliff as well i also would not follow
and he retired during LENT SEASON. somethings up
oh I bet it's juicy too cos
The question is, will we ever know, or will it be covered up?
they will release some kind of tiny teensy weensy info.. but cover up 99%
<-- would love unlimited access to the secret vatican archives... so many secrets in there that would shock and change the world
It really gets my goat to see them prancing around in their high hats, and fancy robes, preaching to the 3rd world that condoms are against the Lord's wishes
No kidding. Including several gospels that have never seen the light of day.
perhaps a nice copy of the unedited bible will be in there somewhere
DAN BROWNE. Where are you?
Mebbe thats why I dont like Tom Hanks. Im jealous he sa the archives lol
yeah soodle and who suffers.. the spanish and the blacks
with their zillions of children and other problems
And the kids, Ru. Don't forget the kis
someone said all the Dan Brown books are the same.. i've only read two.. they were kinda similar
I have davinci code.. havent read it. its in my to read stack which is like a closet full really
I read it on a flight across america.. it's pretty gripping
I also read Angels and Demons.. not as clever
bought it in denver airport for a flight but then got into an argument witrh ryan on the plane so never got to read it :P
the movies were similar
Oh my. Very stressful couple of days. Came onto Babble for a bit of R&R. Now I'm all riled up again. Shaking head!
do you get easily riled soods?
*Pours Soodle a glass of wine*
well, lets put the pope away for now and chat of easier things:)
Back to puppies and kitties
or we could talk about N korea launching nukes or gun issues if you would rather lol
how about a puppy that fetches bacon??
How about recipes? I have a great recipe for puppy and kitty stew ..
Torg, how do I love you, let me count the ways. : D
speaking of bacon, when I was in Costa Rica they served bacon wrapped around plaintains for an horsd'ouevre, and I want to make it this week.
HAving my book group here and we're discussing a book set in Hawaii. Also found a killer banana bread recipe that includes macadamia nuts and cocoanut Alternatively, I could serve spam
sounds delish dorens
keep the spam however
how about fine U.K horse pot pies, torgone? hehe
went out of my way to find nice ripe yellow plaintains, and the store only had one!
hawaiians love spam, crossy
i have never tasted plantains
very much like bananas... the ripe ones carmelize beautifully
sorta bacon bananas foster?
yup, i think so. need to see some recipes to get an idea of time and temp. Hope they didn't do anything first, like dip in brown sugar (which it DID taste like).
hey all
dipped in sugar would make sense
hey stidders
hi stid
probably cane sugar doren
I now want bacon for dinner
well that's going to be more bother than it's worth. might try a bit of brown sugar... similar. or agave syrup? i have that in the house too
how about my sweet tater bacon frittes,ru?
Bananas Foster calls for brown sugar.
oh yum
that sounds really good crossie
yes, but this is plaintains wrapped in bacon... not really bananas foster at all. I just ate several last week at the wedding, never thought to ask how they were made. Maybe I'll try one out with and without... controlled experiment, before committing to the whole shebang
mordent
oops....
and yes... sweet potato bacon sounds good... is that frittes (as in frites)? or fritters? stick some in the pb for stid
*sits in PB with plantains and sugar cane and pineapples*
stid gives the most direct clues
along with Peri and Scrabs
ahah. name that actress.... many oscars..
time to go bathe Dylan.. see you all .. enjoy your day!
last name. bye ru
streep
you 3/4 cook a pund of hickory smoked maple kissed bacon and set aside to drain.peel and cuth 6-8 medium russet taters and cut into1/2 inch thick slices.cut them plank style width wise vs lenghwise for even cooking.blanch them in boiling water for exactly 5 min and pat dry.for each chip make a "wrap of a partial slice of the partially cooked bacon allowing 1/2 inch overlap and lay them in a single layer on the largest sheet you can fit in the frindge and refridgetate for 2 hours.this hold the bacon wrap in place.i deep fry with peanut oil,but a nice canola oil will work.fry untill golden brown
LOL bye ruru!
should have won more too
streep
ding dding ru. and i agree
I just saw the hours again recently and was just blown away by her performance
i would like to say ti serves 4,but i find that 2 peapole can handle it quite nicely:)
Stats for the 8, please
mo 8/50
mo 8/50
see stid mamas clue earlier

Got it
wow ,ru!i was just combing the chog history trying to bust my last 29 words loose and see you came across the finish line first 25 minutes after the flip! props to you:)
25 minutes? Geez
howdy jan:) thats what i thought!
Hey crossy..how goes?
not too badly, jan.here in central ontario, the winter has settled into a routine with few storms.i think one more big blow then we shall have an easy ride into spring
It was 18C here today..snow is melting..almost gone..hope its almost done
whew! ground it down to 19 lesf and still listless.think i will take a beak and be back in a hour or so after i have reset my eyes.i think babble blindness is on me now...poink!
jan was mins 3 c here for most of the day.if i had 18c to deal with i would be out in shorts with the bbq fired up;))..real poink!
Yup..i grilled dinner!
Ru is a Babble Savant : D
no...just a cluing savant
:D :D : D
hi all.i have come back to finish as my parents are visiting from france and have gone to bed, saying that it is midnight and crossy you are making me feel very hungry :)
i tend to have that effect on people, flask
well, they def will be feeling the 5 hour time difference
Hello all...
howdy jilly, but they will be up nice and early for you to make them tea..at 4 am:)
They have drugs for that crossy...LOL
howdy jilly
As for me, I'mm still feeling the effects of the hour lost with DST...why do we still do such silliness!!??
uh oh..another cranky dst -er
matters not in the end,as the things progress we shall have those nice 05:30 am dawns
Well, I managed to overlook the date when I agreed to Cantor the 7:30 AM Mass....hopefully extra points for that
Never seen so many people unhappy about more daylight.
pray for a lifestyle on CUD cororinated universal time:)
No more daylight in reality Molly, just now it'll be dark again when I go to work...
but more light when you get home:))
Hmmmm, not familiar with that crossy...but sounds nice
*stepping off griping box*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinat\ned_Universal_Time
darn.sorry

LOL...just went there crossy...great minds think alike!
:)
crossy! you of all people forgot tiny url??
i hang my head in shame...
*soothes crossy's wounds by handing him bacon*
mmm..did i ever tell you,jilly,that you are my favorite babbler/ :))
For today.... ;)
i am deeply hurt! when i give my adoration it is forever, with undying concentra...hey! a butterfly!!..whee!
17 words...
Go crossy go!!
More daylight. The days get progressively longer from now until mid-summer.
The days would get longer w/ or w/o DST...
the days would also run their course without time at all,but i find it a handy reference;))
time is after all nothing but a creation of ours to try and harness the natural progression of things
I find harnesses uncomfortable
Okay, I'm just going to let the grumpy be grumpy. Me, I like this time of year. : D
Gotta luv ya ruru for putting a spot of humor into this!
:D
all nothing but a tempest in a teapot anywaysor as the man said: "10 million red chinese soldier do not give a damn"
He's the darling of Babble : D
Sadly true...
(crossy's wise quote...not referring to molly's comment on ruru)
i am actually pretty jovial tonight myself.a pretty big thing since i am currently on the fabled wagon as there is not a dram of nectar in the entire house
Well..I have the nectar but can't have a drink. But 4 more days and I get a glass of wine for Friday nite!!
about now, even fermented grape juice would be welcome
oooo...or hard apple cider!
mmmmm
we are in a apple belt here and produce some amazing local cider
But I can't complain...threw together a nice tilapia tonight that met my diet regs...poached it in a chicken broth/lime juice with garlic, onion, garlic, cilantro, cumin and cayenne pepper..trully nummy!!
Hi all....
Oh - Jilly - went to Chico in January and absolutely loved it!
We are an apple growing area here too.
howdy trentsnana
We are going again in September when some friends from Michigan come here to visit.
Help please - need only one more to finish and it's driving me mad. It's one of me 4/6s before the mo 7/36
10 more posts or so and that url will be gone folks
Oh, am SO jealous!! Never got the time to go this year. One of the reasons I am hanging up my youth ministry hat...will only do Confirmation next year!
me4 crystal me4 is speed
We had an awesome time there. The food was to die for.
*wonders how ruru knows that*
<---has a me4 lab in his back yard :D
I told ya!! Food is to die for and that winter rate is a great bargain!!
how do you think I finish the grid so quickly. :D
Thanks rururocks, I have that one. According to Anike's list on her profile there is another one.
We had their beef wellington for two - yummo
me4 is me + mr ** the talking horse
Did you have the orange flambe?
'evening, folks
Hello welki!
howdy welki
My bad - it was mo 4/6 and I've just got it!! Fireworks for me. Thanks for your response rurrurocks.
Hi all, back to finish with 13 left, does anyone have the list?????
No, we went for the creme brule (sp?)
WooT WooT WooT MAH!!
ALL the desserts looked heavenly, though.
Oh, you'll have to do the flambe next time...did you see them serve it when you were there?
There is not an item that isn't 5-star quality..even at breakfast buffet
Mary...Molly has list
14 to go..tough slogging it is too:(
ty Jill
Yes - a woman across from us got one. Looked pretty interesting. Will try it next time. And yes, the breakfast buffet was excellent, too. Will definitely make it at least a yearly outing!
From now on...so will we!
Note to all babblers, we have a resort here in Montana just north of the original Yellowstone entrance. It's a hotspring that boasts the best food in the state. Prices to stay vary from rooms w/ bath down the hall, to luxury suites and cabins. They run a winter getaway special that includes room and two meals (which is quite enough food) http://tinyurl.com/y8e2dmo
Well, and with that free advertising for Chico Hot Springs...I must bow out...going to Skype with our oldest (the one I think must be like crossy's 19 yr old)
i am coming to Big Sky in May jilly
and I guess Bozeman
briefly in Bozeman
Great ruru! We have a wonderful Celtic festival in Butte (90 miles west of Bozo) Keep me posted on dates
*poof*
Hi all. Can anyone clue the last 2 OR words? I need the 5 &6 but have the commands and the half of a macaroni! thanks.
put r in 2nd letter of om word
the om 4 5 combo
Thanks Sudo! I can't tell you how long I sat here and tried to monkey it out.!!! That's fireworks for me! Have a good nite. Thanks again!
I have two left an n and an r is there a list somewhere today
Molly has one. Can I help?
I have ne4 5 4 4 5 4 4 5 can you tell me what I am missing?
5/12 5/10 another 4/5
think of very studious in college; then change the fourth ltr to another consonant
ty got it
the other 4/5 is eng for turnip, Good Luck.
Fireworks thanks glitzy
Never knew that word was British for turnip. I have learned my something new today.
really quiet here tonight
everyone is feeling parsnipmonious
that's too bad - maybe things'll turnip
(hard to find a phrase that'll accomodate a rutabaga)
did you figure out who's who in the pic, ru?
oh yes.. someone told me who was who
nice to see everyone's faces
we could beet rutabaga outta you welki?
:D
yipes - it's a veggie revolution! (would be nice to be able to know the faces behind all the icons)
there's a few I could live with out. :D
without.. sorry
i suppose - best to be careful what i wish for, eh?
hi all, nbt
hi, gwen
you can see my face but you have to go to my profile and follow that to my website 8-)
i think you told us that the photo cost you an arm and a leg - but i can't remember why
we can't even get ru to post a recent photo of his dog!
wow, you do have a good memory. wanna hear why again?
sure :)
:D .. I'm private.. and really shy and retiring
and your dog is, too?
even more so. :D
well, i don't wear makeup, so, i paid a salon to make me up $50, and the photographer charged me $50 for the photo (he shot a whole role, then gave me prints and digital files of the photo I picked) (this was back when film came on a roll, o' course)
he's afraid of weemees
but it worked out well, gwen - i did one of those make-up photo things years ago. looks like me - if i worked in a brothel *lol*
yeah, when i went to the salon, they asked me if i wanted First Lady or Prostitute (!)
as you can see (maybe) I asked for Geraldine Ferraro
oh puhleese - how much effort would it take to post a photo of the dog you waited so long to get (and that we heard about for so long that we felt like we were dylan's aunts and uncles)?
teeny resemblance, but only now that you mention it, gwen.
hey, it's still my face lol
okay, what's a weemee?
it's a caricature, like my icon
Good evening Babblers
'evening, wht
howdee wht
Fireworks.
It is nice to have a small grid after the monsters this week
Especially with no Lickety.
and i wish this had been a big grid - grass is always greener :)
congrats, wht
wow, you fast, wht!!!
I was mostly done by the time I said Hi.
8-D
Now it is time for me to trundle off to bed. Good night all.
careful with that trundle, those things are tricky!
bye, wht - quick turnaround this evening :)
yea, i found the 8
hi all, just read through the chat, and ne4 is not english for turnip. turnip is turnip.ne4 is scottish for swede which they and the northern english where i live call it turnip but it isn't as swede and turnip are two different veg and my hubby and i have this argument all the time
lordy lordy lordy! i mean, hi lilliann! 8-)
However, it is common for Scots to eat ne4's and tatties with a serving of haggis
hi, lilliann - the famous vegetable war :)
hi gwen :)
hi douglas
ne4 is swede and tatties with haggis, not turnip
turnips are white and smaller and are given to cows
ha ha, if you click on ne4, it is defined as a turnip (i have no stake in this dictionary0 lol
there are a million (give or take) words in english and mo4 of them have mo4 than one definition
swede is ne4 and is yellow and i love swede and then we have turnips...it is a south/north divide on the veg :)
lilliann, do you mean that when a Scot orders some haggis with ne4's and tatties, she's not getting turnips on the side?
an editorial on swede v. turnip: http://tinyurl.com/yh6ca7c
oh, no, !! lol
if you look on a gardening or cookery website, they are two different veg, which they are
no it is swede and i had ne4 and tatties with haggis at another babbler's home is scottish
i believe ya, lilliann! (in the book biz we have similar arguments)
i bet you do gwen :0
as we do in the fishing community - the walleye/pickerel argument
someone recently asked, on a used-book discussion list, how one would define antiquarian. there were several answers that did not jibe, all from legitimate antiquarian dealers
walleye? i've heard of a pickerel welki
some say they're the same, others say they're different. in either case, they're delicious :)
Here are my pennies. I thought ne 4 was a type of tide.
something like fish or veggies is bound to have regional names that differ from one another (one of my hobbies is folklore are this is a normal aspect of language one finds in folklore)
that's the thing gwen, books and websites all say differnet things, so you never know what is right and what isn't
case in point: US coins say "cent" on them and they are officially "cents" but everyone calls them pennies, which is techincally incorrect. (but who cares??) lol
but a swede is yellow and turnips are white and they taster totally different! :)lol
you say tomahto and i say tomato :)
and i say *you* eat it lol
hi, deutsch
hi deutsch.that's a new one on me :)
yep, at the end, they come out the same *lol*
Hi, welki! and the rest!
another cas ein point. here in the US we have "double dutch" and "going dutch" and all sorts of "dutch" terms which are of german origin, because the german word for german is Deutsch. true!
ein point?
i never knew that about the cents gwen, we call them cents here
<-- double dutched as a kid (jump rope style) - and going dutch would mean the same to me as dutch treat
lol welki
we passed the dutchie in highschool
Yup, I'm Deutsch because I'm German. Lots of my relatives are still in PA disguised as Dutch.
and here, tim horton's sells a donut called a dutchie - which is a square yeast donut that has raisins in it and is glazed
'pas s the dutchie on the left hand side',dad da da dadadadada
hahaha - 'here' - i'm in new jersey! i meant 'here' as in home :)
i need 3 more words, all Ts. who has a list?
sorry, i'm singing the song now. that's ru's fault.i'm trying to think who sang it...a young boy band
what are you doing in NJ welki?
we have regional terms that exist in michigan (and in canada) but you go a little bit south and they are unknown
i haven't got a clue gwen, i have 39 left
i'd bet one is tr 6/24 - like tr**** l'oeil
Musical Youth, Lilliann.
thanks, welki, got that one 8-)
ru - i'm here to welcome a new grand-daughter (and the bonus was the babble meet)
ru's fault .. ru's fault.. why is it always ru's fault :D
oh nice welki.. double nice in fact
that's why my hubby and i have this argument gwen, because i'm a southerner origininally(england) and he is a northerner so we have so many different words and sayings
that's right molly :0
*originally
my brain keeps telling me to type streep and i know it's not a "real" word
mine did too gwen :)
when is your grand daughter due welki?
Oh, poor "darling". It's not always your fault. Usually it's my fault, whatever it is. : P
oh ha
she's already here, lilliann - a real cutie :)
Such is life when you are an evil pot stirrer.
<---going to pay for that "darling" comment for months to come
because it is your fault.1.you're a man.2. be3cause you got me singing that annoying song :)
lol lillian
aww, when was she born welki?
aha, a2z helped me find tr6 and 7, earthquate word
and a fish to finish !! woot woot !!
wtg gwen!!
(almost three weeks ago, lilliann)
i suppose i could make a list and put it in my profile. anyone need?
no thanks, gwen
okay, welki, no peeking then 8-)
have you been there since she was born welki or just recently arrived to meet your lovely new grand daughter?what is her name?
i could do with a list gwen, but i'm sure there are people here that have one,i'm sure molly normally has one so you don't need to waste your time
okay, list is in my profile
(this is me trying a new thing, and i don't do that very often, lol)
Yep, usually someone does a list shortly after the flip and I copy it into my profile to pass it along. Nice job Gwen.
tyvm gwen.very much appreciated :)
(plus a relatively easy grid, otherwise no way would i be able to post one!)
aw, gee, thanks 8-)
i'm computor thick and haven't got a clue how to copy things. sometimes i can copy and paste but if it is more technical...then i have 2 hopes...bob hoipe and no hope :0
i recently treated myself to a tablet and i have no idea how to use the blooming thing.my daughter knows more than me and she hasn't got one! saying that, my memory problems don't help.if only i was 13 again :)
it's a whole diff operating system, a mean the phones and tablets and little bitty puters they have these days. i'm still using a desktop model
Or 3 Lilliann. Think of the fun you could have in men's locker rooms. : D
and still running the dreadful windows. but at least i know most of its quirks and how to wrestle the thing down when it acts up
Don't get Windows 8 then, it's all based on that freaky phone stuff.
i could have loads of fun now molly :)just thinking about it is making me all quivery..lol how the hell do you remember what people say?i can't remember what i said 2 minutes ago. i have to keep scrolling down to see what we have all said
i must be so behind as we have windows xp
nope, stickin' with "old" windows for now
In my opinion, Windows has not improved much since XP. I have a somewhat photographic memory Lilliann. Not completely, but usually when it comes to people and what they have said. Which makes repeaters very boring.
looks like i jinxed myself! windows is acting up. gonna reboot the beast. bye till later!
hi all. anyone got the other seven or any sixes? i have mo 7.
i have half old and half new windows. it makes no difference.
ooooooooops. i htought you were speaking of house windows. sorry.
got all the q words. whew
well that will be me then molly, but i don't have any choice in repeating myself.years ago before my disabilities, i had a great memory and was probably like you, remembered everything people did and said, but the problem with life is that we never know what is around the corner and i've learnt, take 1 day at time and live that day :)
bye gwen.tc
hi mkg and lol
Actually Lilliann, I have never found you to be one who repeats things here.
hi all
tr7, what earthquakes do mkg
hi jmc
really molly?i'm glad about that, but i probably have but you've not been here
my bairn and hubby always have a go at me for repeating myself
mkg, i meant what you get from an earthquake..tr6 /7
i figure if i have heard the story before there maybe someone else in the room who has not. . .
ty you lill
It's okay Lilliann. People don't like it when you remember things (like mushy peas). Or that they were 47 on their last birthday and are magically 49 on this one. : D
yw jmc
the problaem is jmc, i can't remember who i've spoken too and what about
But JMC's "how I met my husband" story is the best and she can tell that story as many times as she wants. : D
well i would rather someone tell me something twice that not at all . . .for example i ran into a friend about 5 years ago and didn't realize that she didn't know my husband died. . .
ty ty it is a funny story!
It's the best. You two had a great love story.
we were very much in love. . . mo** of the time! haha
molly,you're a bitch(by the way, i'm joking for people who think i'm not)as in the mushy peas!and i hope you're not talking about me being 47/49?? :)
i've never heard jmc's story.please tell
No Lillann. I know that you are only 29.
ah it is his 60th birthday today. . . i am a little blue. . .
pffft molly, i'm 25 :)
i was representing some demonstrators. . . it was my first solo on representing in criminal court
See, I am a bitch. I didn't even get your age right. : P
told you :)
told you :)
they had been jailed for a nonjailable offense but i couldn't spring them because they were using aliases of people with whom they were in solidarity. . .
told you my memory was going..lol
so i would go into the lawyers lounge and ask other lawyers how to do this and how to do that. . .
there were some lawyers who were jerks but mo** of them were helpful especially these two really cute guys. . .
in particular this one guy help me with this and that and I finally got my clients out of jail. . .
so i was in the corridor and saw the helpful cute guy and we got to talking about my case and how it went and this and that. . .
and as we were standing there the door to the lawyers lounge would open and bang into him. . .
after a while i said, that has to hurt. . .we could move. . .and he said no no its okay. . .
what i did know but found out later that week when we went on our first date (which started friday night and finished when I left for Meeting for worship on Sunday) was that my blouse had fallen open and in those days i did not wear a bra and he had a clear view of my right tit. . . he was afraid if we moved he it would get covered up. . .
he claimed he first fell in love with my right tit. . . which is a sweet story since we married but would have been creepy if we had not!
omg.i love it jmc.that could be a book :)
i have thought about writing a short story. . .
that was some first date :)
well my attitude was that if i didn't want to sleep with him on my first date there was no point in a second. . .
:-D
good attitude but i won't be saying that to my daughter :)
okay i am 1/2 done so i think i am out of here. . .
no i didn't even say that to my son!!!
didn't mean i had to go to bed with him. . . just want to
59 left. . . bye all. . . *poof*
thanks for sharing your story jmc, and sounds like you had a great man there.tc hin :)
