I have friends who love them, just not one of them :)

tu flosey, you, too!
thanx, dee. rest well, my friend.
Congrats, Dee!!!!
ty all... poofing!
Rose, are you a passenger on the motercycle, or do you actually ride?
hi Peach
Hey there, flosey. Are you well?
yes thanks peach, enjoying daughter, sil and grandson, over for 5 days, and you?
flosey, since surgery on left ankle, cannot use clutch on current bike. so, only a pillion.
good, but does that mean you did drive solo?
Oh, I'm about the same.....still looking for a doctor.
I'm glad you have your dear ones visiting.
how is it difficult to find one, peach?
along time ago, flosey. am happy to pillion now.
grandson was sitting on lap for a while, helping me find words, a big YEAH everytime the line went green
they scare the heart out of me, rose
peach...you need a doctor? what is wrong, hun?
No one wants knows how to treat Post-Polio Syndrome and they are wanting me to wear a patch and I just won't do it. I do read up on things and won't just take whatever they give me.
too cute, flosey.
Hey there, rose. Just in pain here. As usual.
good for you, hold your ground - I learned recently that the sleeping med given to me has side effect - may cause memory loss
and that is a problem I do have
peach, just how old are you? a range is okay. my mother had polio, she is 87.
Well, that is all we need, isn't it?
next time I need refil, I'll ask for something else
Oh, rose, I'm 74, had polio at age 2.
peach, did you always have trouble following the illness?
that fits, peach. you poor thing....my heart goes out to you. my mum is driving me to distraction...or rather her health professionals are. she has residual weakness in her left ankle, and now weakness in her left hand/wrist due to the fact she wouldn't listen to me when i told her she needed surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome. now her HP's are telling her she has had a stroke...for goodness sake!
No, flosey, I lived a great life until about age 35 lower back started bothering me.....long leg brace for 7 years....started throwing my upper back out, so went to crutches for two decades.....hands are broken down from carrying heavy loads. I try not to dwell on it but sometimes my fingers hurt from typing (I won't give up though). I really appreciate all of the energy and prayers from you all.
Rose, the doctors in CT tried to put braces on my hands for carpal tunnel.....very difficult to do daily chores with hands trussed up.
i know, peach, but with the hand-surgeon i wanted her to see, she would have had full use of her hand back within 2 weeks. hun, she despises my qualification as a registered nurse so much, she will allow her physical health to deteriorate to a point where she is so debilitated she cannot take care of her self.
Sorry, Rose, it would be wonderful if she would allow you to help her. Sometimes people just won't. But at least you know you tried.
it's very frustrating, peach. she once was so dead set on not following my advice, she allowed one of my younger brothers to run around with a fractured wrist for 3 weeks rather than follow my advice.
Oh, that is a bit much, isn't it?
it was many moons ago, peach. i have learned to live with it.
Well, you know you tried.
thanx, dear peach. it means much to me when people like yourself 'listen' to my advice.
You are so welcome. I trust that the future brings you satisfaction and happiness.
peach, with my darling hubby by my side, i anticipate that exact outcome. :)
You go, girl.
back for a bit more, was chatting with daughter
Flosey, to they get to visit often?
either I go over there, or they come here, probably about half dozen times a year
I know you must just love having them with you.
both daughters are in Vancouver, sons both in Toronto area
sons were settled before we left Ontario, daughters were single and eventually came out
I see. You have four then?
Nice size family.
yes, 2 sons 17 months apart, then 2 daughters 15 mos. apart
they were close and amused each other, played well together while young
still close of course
Good timing, flosey.
Mine are 10 years apart.
had first at 31, at that time it was considered old
bn
are they close though?
hello marigold
A lot of couples are waiting longer it seems.
yes, all their friends are in same position
No, mine aren't very close. The oldest has always been jealous of the youngest.
daughter prepares a Tuesday supper as a way of keeping everyone in touch, works well, and gives the kids a chance to play together
she's a stay home mom
Sounds good.
too bad your son couldn't get over that feeling, they need each other
I don't think it will ever happen, flosey. My youngest daughter is very close to her niece.....almost like sisters.
that's good, perhaps the time will come, peach, don't give up - maybe the young ones will bring it about
That would be wonderful.
hi, help pls with left corner t

Hello, Spritey :-)
hi zooz :)
hi sprite
hi medusa:)
{{sprite}} found most of my punctuation so can give you a proper hug!
lol
{{ruby}}, {{sprite}}, {{medusa}}, {{zooz}}
hi ruby! How are you all and what's this about operatiing your new pup?
Hello, Grannyrose :-)
they found entropion in one eye and operated. Hopefuly, she'll be OK and, in the end, I'm glad they found the problem there rather than my finding it here
hi rose :)
hi grannyrose
{{((rose))}}
indeed. I hope she'll be ok and with you soon.
haven't found the arrows yet, but finding all the fancy stuff!
awww, poor rafaella.
they have another female, but she is much lerosie, so she already owns mess to my taste and Raffie looks like my first chow,
btw... the oatman feels slighted because the gingerbreadman might have been valid
Should be M & N
soery, I am still garbling what I type. My er**** pinkie keeps hitting a funny key
*giggle* sprite
;)
hahaha..very good, Sprite.
that was the other female is much less to my taste. Raffie looks like Rosie (hahah) my first chow chow
and it would be nice to have a Rufie and a Raffie :)
btw, did my first 9 hour shift yesterday. breezed it in. thank goodness for ibuprofen.
named fr Grannty?
wtg rose! Am glad you managed.
Good to hear, Rose..I take it you are slowly on the mend.
um, am i supposed to be honoured or insulted? i choose honour.
9 hrs on your feet? You are amazing!
definitely honoured
yay me. a few more weeks and i will hopefully be up to full speed and doing 10 hours.
pfff really long shifts, rose.
had a taste of the future on friday. 5 theatres running, and only 3 staff until 11am. was interesting to say the least.
what do you do Rose?
interesting? Killing, more like.
medusa, i am a recovery room nurse.
nah, spritey, nobody dies on my shift. lol
cool.
rose is my hero (ine), I think of her as "superRose"
*giggles* Nobody but you, rose, lol. Only you are too stubborn to give in to it :)
that is a heroes job for sure
*giggle* ruby!!! you do exaggerate, dear.
i love my job...guess it shows...
sure does
thats always a good thing
and now off to lunch with Mr. charming
tell Mr. Charming hi from me, dear
now i can take my anti-inflammatories again, i'm a new woman....just ask himself. ;)
bye fo now uby. have fun. xxx
hahahah
I bet. It was sheer craziness from your local doc to refuse you the medication. I hope she realises that now.
love to DH, ruby
oh she will, spritey. have an appointment early april. she is good, but very cautious.
cautious is good. And as long as she is willing to realise her mistakes, no harm done.
true, sprite. this is the first time the 3 of us have the correct blood and urine tests done for many years.
that is a very good thing
and spritey? how are you, dear?
am good, rose. Making major strides in therapy and feeling better emotionally and mentally, even if the body is not cooperating.
good for you, sprite. sorry the body isn't keeping up with the rest of you. can be very frustrating, i imagine.
am just happy the rest is going so much better :)
know what you mean. remember what i was like when i came off my meds to give up smoking? couldn't even sign my name.
*hugs rose* Good thing we are no quitters (except for cigarettes) !
yeah, spritey!!!!! have done some research for new doctor. have printed out info for her about fibromyalgia, and the anatrin i take.
good job!
Hi all...cannot sleep due to aches and pains, so I thought I would say, "Hi!"
hi jaianniah :) Sorry you are in pain. Glad to see you though.
jai, hello. sorry you are so sore. is this the norm? or are you ill?
Had surgery couple of days ago on my arm...infection, as ususal...
:( how unpleasant... I hope you will heal up soon and fully.
ugh, jai. are you still in hospital? are you on antibiotics?
Nice to see you, Sprite. You do not know how nice! Cnanot believe how long we've been at this!
lol indeed... so many hours we babbled :)
nbs and nbt
hi jaianniah
good job, medusa
No, I am home, on two strong antibios and and am hoping it is gone...Say a prayer...The doc warned it may return
yay, medusa. nice job
ty sprite

ty rose
Ni, nedusa!

*sends up prayer for jaianniah*
hahaha... medusa! How could you! :D
TY, TY, TY!!!<3
hope you feel better soon jaianniah
yeah, sorry about that! lol
Vision is poor so I apologoze for missed keys!
Sending healing messages to Jaianniah.
TY, zoozoom! Great name, btw!
you're doing well, jai
when i first looked at the gid it looked like it was gonna be a nice one. its actually a bit of a demon! lol
yeah, I agree. Sneaky one in disguise.
i have a dodgy 'R' key so i undestand.
Medusa, I did NOT need to hear that!!!! LOL!
i do mean on my keyboard! lol
I got you the first time...LOL!
:)
i have been playing this game since around 2009....Hrad to believe
Are you sure..it says you joined in 2006.
OMG..That far back????? Holy ****!!!
hehe
yep :D And I started in 2004. Scary.
Dat's a lone time to spend looking for words.....
wow.think of all the hours spent..looking for words.
Its... only... words.... and words are all I have... to take your heart away.....
*giggle* jai, your vocabulary should be ENORMOUS by now.
Yeah, Sprite, we are ":old-timers"...hahahaha'
sure are, jai, lol
And half of them..if not more..i have no idea what they mean.
I do look at the DEF but forget most of them by the next time a new grid comes along..lol
I have looked up new words all that time, zooz, and learned so many new ones. Of course, they are mostly words I cannot use in normal convo... not unpunished anyway.
My vocabulary was always too big to start with, nyway, but this puzzle has epanded it to include all 500,000n words in The OED...LOLLOLOL!
LOLOL
500,000 n words? my, wonder how many i know?
English is so versatile...You can make up words like mgic...Like "Google" which should appea as a verb pretty sonn...
Arrrh..why does Enable not except the word Spam.
it is used as a verb in the Netherlands already, jai
zooz, silly. Enable does not even recognise 'internet'.
haha..now that is daft.
Imagine..in 1974, saying to a friend, "Yeah, I \'ll just google that recipe..." Hilarious!
totally. But true :)
because enable is a scottish jew with a penchant for french??
lol jai!
Please do not forget that Babble freezes at 11:00AM GMT for about 2 minutes.
something like that, rose.
ENABLE was written by old men held up in a small room filled with smoke...You'll have to forgive them....
lol
12 am still here... we won't skip till end of March.
i admit it's not as good as jillibus's definition, but it's pretty close.
I still think it was an omen that on the day the new pope was picked, 'pope' was a phantom in babble.
That often happens...wait til St. Pat's!
sprite, now that's just plain weird!!
isn't it just!
EErie, more like
I remember trying that too, Sprite.
Well, I am going to dig into the puzzle...I will pop up ..Nice talking to you all...Update: I now live in PA with my new Fiance....YES!
congrats, jai! And have fun puzzling.
good for you, jai. congratulations.
TY
Ok it has stopped hammering down with rain. Going to pop over the the shop to buy some goodies..back later...have a great day, all, if i do not see you on my return...nice talking to you all.
take care, zooz. see you tomorrow.
bye zooz, have a grand day
Bye, zooz, nice meeting you!
So, are we to believe Francis is really a talking mule?
HUH?
hi BabbleRabble :) Am glad to see you. Any signs of Spring yet?
of course he is, BR, and so is Mr Ed.
I believe he is pope Super Mario. Don't know about the mule.
<sigh> Bless Babble for intereting converstaion opners....LOL
He does not sound like Chill Wills.
<--- loves BabbleRabble
Francis was before my time, but i did like Mr. Ed...
I have the impression he is super oldfashioned. Not a good things, I fear.
<-------Did not mean to offend BabbleRabble
don't think you did, jai
*looking up Chill Wills*
keep seeing "junapor"- trees on the mins, I guess....
*mind
ah! Right, found it, BabbleRabble. No, I don't think he is anything like Chill Wills.
nice one, jai.
and entropy for another
meds have kicked in. love and hugs to all. happy babbling!
I think we should just re-wite the dictionary as we gp...LOL
night rose *hugs*
jai, I have started that in my profile... adding new words as we go. Should have started that in 2004 :D
I envy granny..I wish my meds would "kick in"...<sigh>
* poof *
LOL, sprite
*carefully aims a rubber hammer over jai's head*
Been up all night, so I am not responsible for my typing..I think that is fair!
TY...Mallet received..feel somewhat calmer...could you do it 100 more times???
hahaha no, wouldn't want to hurt you.
good morning sprite and thanks for the laughs - I just read your word list in your profile - too funny!
hi JBV :) Glad you enjoyed them. It is so much fun spotting and collecting them.
Total Hilarity! Wait til you hear this! Sprite hit me over the head with a hammer to help me get tirre (long styorya) and my computer decides t6o update and shuts me down...
argh. See, I am terrible at aiming!
*story *tired
I found it very funny, Sprite! You got the computer...now aim justs a bit higher!
:D
This is one puzzle that I am getting the longer words, and missing the shorter ones
it is a relatively unfriendly grid
Like North Korea is "relatively unfriendly"???
*grin* Yeah, similarly
meaning you like it but your sister does not?
:D
my sister does not even play, how unfriendly is that!
LOL!
I think "Maur" should bee accepted...dragon from some book I read///The Hero and the Crown, I think
names are discriminated against in babble
Let's Protest! march on Australia!
Long march, come to think on it...
*goes to shop to buy very high boots*
Can't find the very first word, the an7. Any clues please? Hi all.
Don't forget your waders for th Trench!
hi hydra, study of body parts
Enable is very precise: TYPES OF WORDS NOT ALLOWED Proper nouns, abbreviations, contractions, hyphenated words and foreign words that are not in the Enable Dictionary.
Doh! Fancy missing that! Thanks, sprite.
whahaha especially that last part
wow..thanks!
babble blindness, hydra. Happens to the best of us ;)
So, Enable does not accept words not in the dictionary
Plenty of phantoms today. Manure, for instance!
The rest is superfluous
yeah. In case we were still in doubt. Gotta love enable.
But Enable writes the dictionary..but unfair...
*bit
I don't really mind manure staying a phantom...
LOL
TY, sprite...The manure can fertilize my junapor...HaHa!
farm implement dealerships make money from manure
oh shit, didn't think of that
Politicians make moey from manure...
Don't you mean. oh manure, sprite?
Politicians ARE manure. Well, most of 'em!
yeah. Oh manure... in plebeian language :D
at least they are full of it
Defo!
LSOHASAS (Laughing so hard sides are splitting)
Good one, jaianniah!
:)
politicians are stercoraceous
or something like that..been up all night, had surgery a few days agioo...I declre myself wounded troll LOL
fireflies. Sneaky little grid. But fun. Thanks for the wonderful company!
Oh, poor you, jaianniah,
Well done, sprite
Congrats. Now can you text me your answers?
lol BabbleRabble... leave it to you to find a word actually meaning that!
totman should be a word..for a man being childish..lol
What am I missing? Is the manure well done?
I agree, zooz, will add it to the dictionary!
can even be a plural for a group of them haha
jai: the word BabbleRabble found 'stercoraceous' = consisting of/resembling dung, living in dung
Although in fairness it would be totmen.
Trust him to find such a shitty word.....
BabbleRabble is a word genius
No doubt! Not after that!
back is anybody still hee?
Ditto on that, Sprite.
Am off to other vistas... very much enjoyed the company :) Have a lovely day/night *hugs*
Yes, and we are discussing disgusting subjects relating to feces...
oh yeah! Mr. Hyde just re emerged
Take care, Spritey enjoy the rest of your day.
Bye, Sprite..It was great!

hello everyone
I had a friend, 100 yrs ago, who, when given paragoric for her two babies, used to take it herself "let them fuss she said"
Who knows Zoom. I think of tomatoes as a vegetable and they say it's really a fruit (seeds inside)
rn
This is true, Molly.
{{annie}}
hi (((ruby)))
I thought in the days of paragoric, Mothers were sedating themselves with the liquor cabinet. : )
hiya Annie! hello, pms

you have the 2 ja the rest are ju
hello smores :)
ok thanks
nbt/nbs :)
Hello, Smores.
good morning everyone:) looking back on the grid and was interested in the history of paregoric so looked it up.seems it is still used in the u.s.a but mainly as a treatment for babies born of opium addicted women.i had never heard of it,which is not surprise since they started regulating it heavily starting in 1964 and for all purposes was mostly unavailable to the masses by 1970 and afterwards.quite interesting.would not mind a shot of it in the morning tea today i tell you:)))
lol...my grandmothers cure all :)
my marty is in the grid! he's still alive and doing ok on his treatments, and i'm still praying for a miraculous cure.
Hello, Crossy.
Hi crossy
i red the label.with that and padulum, you probably did not need anything else in the medicine cabinet hehe

Hurshy, I am glad Marty is doing okay
hi ya crossy
ty mom
Thats good to hear, Hurshy..hope something can be found to really help marty.
lol,and they give us hell for adhd med, when they were spooning kids liquid opium lol
yay hurshy :)
no wonder were were happier children in the 60,s
:D yep
zooz - nothing can be done but a transplant, but we're not doing that - God is the only one who can cure him now - kidneys.
"play outside mom?? sure, but i have this mnagging cough...."
nagging
Hurshy, how old is Marty?
they apparently do pet kidney transplants in a few cities. they find a matching shelter cat to donate a kidney and then you adopt that cat as part of the deal. marty is going on 13.
the PA5/16 to go and enjoy yourself..did not know you could add more of to the end..would of thought ier.
people often think 13 sounds old but it's really only middle aged for an indoor cat and he is still as spry and agile as a kitten.
wow, I didn't realize he was almost 13. We do get attached to our pets
poor kitty:(
(((hursh))) lots of love to Marty. 13 is a goodly age for a cat.
several friends of mine have had cats live to 22-23 years old
cough, runny nose, headache, belly ache, sneezing, bad attitude..grandma grabbed the bottle
i DO TH
<---- bad attitude :-)
Ido the same as Grandma, but with the gin - ot sharing with the kids!
My mom always grabbed a bottle of castor oil. You were sure not to cough after a dose of that!
that and that big, nasty brown bottle filled with cod liver oil..i can still taste it even after 40 years
hello bzznbea

Good morning all.

hi bzz
eww i hate cod liver oil..yuk.
Making kids take cod liver oil should have been deemed child abuse.

you would burp the stuff 5 hours later
you're fine Granadan, good afternoon. Please stay and chat with us

thank you mom
hehe
i am a boggle addict, where smores and I met and she sent me to this game. i have yet to complete a puzzle
lol, these days,if i even thought of trying a cigar my lungs would most likely just implode
tern
i dont like this grid
Don't fret, you will :)
mam, babble is a great game and after a bit finishing ,while nice, becomes secondary
you will get there mamcitadbh
and I keep forgetting to click back and forth between chat and the puzzle
it gets easier the longer you play, as you learn the babblets.
help with an7 pls
lol
((Peri)) good morning
an7 the study of the parts of a body
babblets = words you only see here :)
peri an7= a class you take where you work on the human body
tx for the an7!
ty crossy
I've done this for about 9 years now, rarely finish but enjoy them anyway. I post rarely as I am a two finger typist and invariably end up typing all my answers in this box ;)
ty cross
and hurshy
for which we appreciate, granadan
there USED to be a button you had to click to enter your chat so it was much harder to accidentally put in a word.
so I am not the only one eh?
LOL
have an7 and pa7 x 2 -- stats for the other 7's?
nope,mam,not at all
That is my definition of a Babblet, Smores, but it seems there are several. : )
another pa7
definately not, happens all the time :)
when doc changed it and some of us complained he was heartless and unsympathetic.
tx peri
hi mom, hi all
Really? Molly, what else would it be?

congratulations, Zoozz
yaa for zooz!!
WTG Zoozzoom. Mom I only ever get the easy ones anyway without help so no fun
Would stay but i need to do other things. Happy babbling all.
ty annie
Who is doc?
Well someone once said enema was a Babblet. When I asked why, I was told a Babblet is a word that doesn't come up in every day conversation. And then there are people who say "all these Babblets" when there are only three or four in the puzzle. So I have to figure there is more than one definition.
dr. god, he runs the site
hi all
bye bye Zooz, enjoy your day
so I am assuming that fireworks means you finished the puzzle?
I see
yes, if you are pro you will see fireworks once you complete the grid
hello jmcnrick
I am missing a pa7. I have the hat and the bird
hi jmc
hagd everyone. must get ready for work. praying for wind and rain so the store will be slow! lol
well i certainly agree that babblets are words people don't use outside of babble but i guess there could be people who use etui, and likewise people who have never heard of enemas?
Yes, mama...when you finish there is a fireworks displayed where the tile stats are.
same here peri
pa7 a mate
hi and bye, dawg!

I will never have to worry about that, not to mention I am not pro
tx bea!
I will pray with you, LBD. ((Hugs))
ty Bz. I have that one
we used to just SAY fireworks but then doc added a little fireworks video.
Bye Dawg...have a good one :)
i think generally a babblet is what you said. . .a word that comes up in the grid that you don't use in normal conversation. . .
the bird with the sometimes vowel?
bye dawg sending vibes for wind and rain >>>>
Sometimes vowel at the end of the bird Peri.
peri, you have the fun-lovin' person?

Are you still here mamacita?
I am, trying to find words and keep track of a three month old puppy
aww...you have a new puppy
we do
mutt
they are so funny at that age :)
I love mutts :) heck I am one...lol
indeed he is adorable, good thing that's what keeps himi alive at times :)
lol...I hear ya, they are indeed a handful
we also have a 10 month old pup who now seems like an angel, another mutt. She actually helps keep the little one in line
My dog just turned 13 so it's been a long time since I had a puppy to contend with
well these are our first in 14 and 1/2 years. We put our 13 year old down in fall 2011
funny how they do that, I also have 3 cats and our dog would get after them when they were little :)
we love them to death. kids have all flown the coop so we are re-stocking LOL
hey, Annie (was checking email)
Aww...sorry to hear...I'm not looking forward to when I will have to do that
LOL
she lived a good long life with grand mal seizures so we were lucky to keep her that long. It is very tough though. It takes me about a year to get over the loss of a dog, then I am back for more
:)
Mine has recently lost most her hearing, has a bit of arthritis but is doing pretty well
that is good
mutt also?
Moves a bit slower in the morning, but then so do I :)
remmind me if you have already told me age of your children?
I move much slower in the morning...
13 and 15
both girls
aagh! I don't miss those years...
:)
I too have two girls 20 and 25
i always maintained that teen years are to help the parent long for an empty nest
agreed
lol...so we don't miss them so much eh?
God knows what He is doing when He makes teens miserable
LOL
So we help them pack. Then they become delightful after leaving and we miss them
mine are pretty good, most the time :)
Mine were also but it was still emotionally trying
especially GIRLS and the drama
i have a boy and it took a few years longer! haha
My dad wrapped up a lockset on my 18th birthday
I opened it and he laughed and said " oh, sorry, that ones ours"
well boys will be boys. Funny Smores
bbl must go to post office
that is hysterical
Bye for now jmc :)
bye jmc
Yep, I'm the youngest so I was the last one :)

and so I am on my way, bye dear babblers
need help with top left N please
Bye Annie...have a wonderful day dear :)
ne5/12 teach
I had t put our cat down yesterday :(
Aww Kaplan...I'm so sorry :(
aw kap - sorry. been there, it's never easy
so sorry to hear that Kaplan - that is so hard
She was very old and failing. She was a sweet cat.
{{ Kaplan }}
If quite annoying and senile in the last year. She was known to everyone, very social. In her last few days, when she went out to pee and didn't come back, it transpired that some self righteous guy took her without reading her ID tags, brought her to the aspca hospital, and reported us to the animal police.
He returned her unwillingly after two days because the shelter said he had to return her to the owners, so he made a report to have us investigated.
What??
that is crazy
jam
The officer said there was no ground to the complaint as I explained her age and general condition (19) years old, so she didn't investigate, but the guy was so nasty to me
that is ridiculous. and sorry to hear about your loss
Why would he do that?
She was clearly traumatized and thrilled to be home, where she rallied a for a day or two- then her legs failed her and after I spoonfed her for two hours I realized it was time...
Because she was meowing the way she always did, and looked underfed and confused.
it is sooooooo difficult to lose a pet
She had been losing weight- we fed her constantly.
sometimes people are nuts
at 19 it makes sense she was thin
Our vet said her long life was a tribute to our care and her strength.
So sorry...but so glad you got her back and she was with you when the time came.
of course it was
The guy didn't know her or us. He was a well-meaning asshole.
i suppose well meaning but... check it out before accusing
But if she had tags he should have contacted you immediately
If your senile grandmother wandered away on the street, and she had ID on her, would someone take her to a hospice and report you for neglect?
good point smores
Of course he should have. He only contacted us when the posters were up, and then it was to accuse us.
What I couldn't understand was why the shelter doctor didn't give our vet all the info on the tag so they could find her records.
That is just awful. I know I would feel terrible iff that happened to me
or if
that's ridiculous
Anyway, no meowing this morning.
:(
So the shelter didn't contact you?
: (
No. they didn't.
that's the hard part - i still miss my cats and always get that feeling that something's wrong when i open a can of something and there's no brushing of tails against my legs or meowing
Our phone number, vet tag and rabies certificate were all there.
I hear that-that is why I only last about a year after putting a dog down, after mourning I am off for another...
Again, so sorry Kaplan
Thing is, I think she was probably wandering off to find a quiet place to die when she was abducted.
That could be very true
Probably so
biscuit died. We rescued two fluffs
too many phantoms in this puzzle
crossy posted a lovely "pet's last will" recently, you reminded me of that mama. Final wish was to share your love with another pet
sorry to be stupid but what do you mean by phantoms in this puzzle
agreed Kaplan...I keep seeing tomato
a series of letters which look like they would make a word but stop before the last letter
phantoms are words you keep seeing that aren't really there :)
martyr. pyjama, pajama
and it's not stupid mama :)
phantoms are words that you...oop, you were quicker than I.
thank you
yw
a little slow on the uptake this morning
no, took me a while to understand what a bablet and a fish were
I am struggling with the puzzle but not because of phantoms LOL
ok more lingo I don't understand
:)
you'll get it mama :)
this is a difficult grid mam
It took me a year to learn what a fish is.
pa 7 letter not part...
they're all difficult grids.
well this morning I am so busy chatting that I am not searching :)
hello all. sorry tp hear your story, kap.
I still don't understand completely what a fish is. bablet I know

morning all!
Morning, Sue!
hi mimi!
Hello, Sue and all.
hi, BR!
Does anyone know anything about the PC cleaners to fix registry errors and if any of them are actually free? The ones I'm finding say they're free but then want to charge for the fix. Also, is it necessary to "fix" these really? I have a blinking message on the left side of my Yahoo inbox that is driving me crazy.
HI
Hi, BR!
don't click on it, mimi! Those are bad. They can give your computer viruses.
hi manu!
Hi, y'all. Don't click on it mimi. Try AVG Security. It is a free anti-virus, anti-spam/malware download. We have it. It works great.
I went to my search engine and found some instead. Wondering if they are dangerous, sue. Am going to ask my son who knows about these things before I actually do anything, though.
Thanks, Judi! I already have AVG as my security. Does that mean it's already "fixing" these?
hi Judi!
it should be, mimi, you can ask it to run a check if you're worried.
It's probably blocking a lot of stuff. You might have to go into your programs and delete the blinking Yahoo think. It was probably a sneaky little attachment that came with some silly thing you may have downloaded.
So why do these other scans tell me I have over 2,000 errors to fix? Heck, I can't even imagine having that many errors.
they always say that, mimi, the idea is to trick you into running them
Can I get rid of that blinking thing in Programs? It's on the left side, not the right...any idea how it will show up in programs?
No one has that many errors. Right click on it and check the properties. It may ask if you want to delete or uninstall it.
not sure, mimi, I'd have to see it - it may be an ad coming from yahoo?
I tried that on the ad itself but didn't get anywhere. Guess I'll just go through all the programs in the control panel and eliminate any I don't recognize. Yes, apparently Yahoo allowed it since it's on the left side. So annoying. And Yahoo doesn't help AT ALL...they are really difficult to contact. Thinking about switching my provider. Any suggestions? BTW, I don't like gmail.
It sounds like a Yahoo thing. Check your Yahoo programs. Delete anything you don't recognize.
I use yahoo mail and don't have a blinky thing (and I don't like gmail either)
I use Musher Mail
is that like the pony express, BR? (just kidding)
I use Hotmail. There's Google, but I think they are now in cahoots with Google.
Off the subject, but Mimi, it sounds like there has been some healing between you and your kids. That's great.
Cahoots with Yahoo, rather. Oy.
Yes, but perhaps a bit slower
I've already opted out of advertising based on my computer activity...scary how they can just get your information. OK---I'm really stupid about these things, Judi....is Yahoo programs in a different place? i never see them in the control panel or regular programs?
I am annoyed at google since they announced they are getting rid of reader
Why are they getting rid of it Sue?
Hmm. I would think it would show up in your control panel. Otherwise, it might be in your download file.
not enough usage and they want to concentrate on fewer products
which makes me glad I'm not using gmail
Hi, Molly! No, unfortunately, not healing with two of my kids. My eldest (the one I just mentioned) and I talk and do not have an actual rift but he still doesn't go out of his way to communicate. His first son's 2nd birthday is tomorrow and I probably won't be included since I have no transportation to get there....guess he doesn't think it's worth it to drive 45 minutes each way to have me there. I'll be sad this weekend.
I wish Crossy was here. He could troubleshoot this better than anyone.
I'll take a look, Judi. Thanks. I hate aggravation this early in the morning...been dealing with this stupid thing since 6:30.
I gotta split. Got company coming in a few minutes. Hope you get it worked out, Mimi. Hugs to all! *poof*
Mimi, click start and type yahoo in the search programs and files area at the bottom .... click enter
Gmail does really weird stuff. I have an account that I just use periodically but it is a very frustrating thing to use.
bye judi!
Thanks again, Judi. HAGD!
I have an account too, got it when I got irritated at yahoo once, but never use it
Thanks, BR---I always forget I can type in something there!
I am also not a fan of gmail.
I'm going to check out hotmail....several of my friends have it and most of my family. Must be a reason.
go to the address in the c drive and delete the file ... restart your computer .... than you will have reinstall the mail you want
I gave up on hotmail a long time ago when my account got hacked
if you get a hotmail account I'd suggest not having an address book
i got the gmail because all of a sudden one of my friends can no longer receive mail from my yahoo account. She has checked and she didn't block it or anything....strange. Anyone ever hear of this?
another option, go to start and type system restore ... restore you files to an earlier date before the irritant arrived
OK---well, there goes hotmail!
Thanks, BR---you're so helpful! Yes, I know about system restore---have done that several times. But this will probably just happen again that way, right? Will do the steps you suggested and see what happens. If that fails, will go back to yesterday.
Sorry to take up so much chat....I love my computer but sometimes it acts up like this and it's like having a naughty child!
do you know is your OS is 32 bit or 64 bit?
64
take a look at this: http://tinyurl.com/7t5ev97 it gets the baddies rather well
OK--will check it out.
Going to leave and try some of these things before I talk to my son...if I can fix it on my own maybe he'll actually think I'm intelligent.
Good luck
Thanks for all the help. Have a good Saturday and hugs all around.
Anybody here with advice about an eReader? I've read myself cross-eyed with reviews, half of them more than two years old, and am more confused than when I started!
5 to go
my daughter and grand d have kindles... the like them... i am waiting until the price gets down to 39.95.. then i will think about getting one
Sorry - I should have said eReaders other than Kindle and Nook.
hint for an 7, pls
Description of the body
ty helen
i can advise on this,helen
kindles are good but have proprietary file format system so are handy for in states and if you exclusively get your reading material from kindle store.however,if you wish a more open format to laod books from various sourses,i would advise a barnes and noble glow or the latest sony reader.if budget is an issue ,go with the kobo reader all can be had for under 100 dollars now
mm,good spelling there,crossy:(
i have a first generation nook reader and it is bulletproof.still going strong and i have run a pile of books through it
BOOM Fireworks for Real
nook glows can now be had for 60 odd dollars and that is the route i would personally choose
yaa for manu!
GLad to hear that - Kobo had caught my eye, partly the price, partly that I hadn't heard of it! I should go back and look at the Nook, maybe - I can't recall why it was off my list. But the Kobo sounds good. I need to be able to download library materials, and Kindle isn't always able or willing!
On the other hand - where are you seeing Nook for 60 odd dollars? I'm only seeing it at about 120 dollars!
120 is reg price, but they often come on sale for 69.95.i have seen it a few times
be warned though, kbo is the most basic,BASIC of ereaders it is well worth the extra 40 to upgrade to a nook glow
kobo
and when you do decide on an ereader and get it,let me know as i often open up my ebook library to other babblers.i have a selection of over 600 books in pdf and epub format
Thanks for the extra advice! Now I start looking for the best price on Nook, I guess - and a case. I will certainly get in touch about your library! remind me to offer mine around once I have one!
Thanks for the advice!! I am looking for some kind of a reader also....
i researched reader ad nauseum when hunting for one for my beloved who has vision issues and all the info just stuck with me
the only thing i am unsure of is if kindle finally broke down and is now allowing epub files on their readers yet
epubs are the default file format for alomst all libraries who participate in the ebook programme9they also used pdf for heavily illistrated books)
With Kindle there's also always the risk they will remove something.
for my part it would be: #1 the B&N nook glow, #2 the latest sony offering ,#3 the kobo reader and #4 the kindle
there may be some new players in this field, but that is my call
I started with PC World - a list, by popularity, by user rating, and by price. 26 Pages of it, and I'd never heard of most of the brands before!
yikes,,,, I don't want to wade through a list like that,,, thanks for putting your opinions here....
np at all
like i say,my nook is totally bullet proof.i have 400 books on it,200 pictures or so and 300 mp3,s
Yes, at the back of my mind all morning was "Maybe Crossey will be in the chat. . ."
note; the nook version one also has a mp3 player
i love it:)00 women all round the world are thinking of crossy:)))
and with those numbers my internal memory is at 66%:))
which is much better than the internal memory in my own head of late:))
That does - I can have my own music list (my daughter's is burdened with as many performances as she could find of material she's rehearsing (or has rehearsed/performed all year). I am not that fond of a lot of it!
Meant - "That does it" - Sorry for lazy fingers.
Thanks much. Will report on search/purchase.
lol.head one of the songs my kid likes and i said" son, when my stereo used to sound like that i would go running because it has to be eating up a cassette tape!"
cool, helen.i am interested in how your search goes
Must go pursue a phone list - sigh. Good luck all.
this is an evil, evil little grid:((
an 6/21, pls
bit of a side note regarding ebook readers: when they first came out i was interested indeed as my mrs had been battling with her eye disease for over a decade by that point and had not been able to read books for at least that long so when sony came out with the first eink ebook reader with a built in reading light(the sony prs 700) i jumped on it the same month it shipped and put in my pre-order for a unit($455.00 inc tax!!!) that was leading up to christmas as i recal and of all the pre-orders in our reigon placed for it SIX units were shipped..we were # 6 on the pre-order list.three months later sony discontinued the model as it was too expensive with its 3 layer screen and went with a non-lit unit for it's next release.it made no matter to me.i gave it to my wife on christmas day and her eyes lit up(i had pre-loaded 100 or so authors i know she likes into it and repacked it before wrapping it) best 450 dollars i ever spent.i just sat there and smiled and watched her read all afternoon..for the first time in ten years;))
I need an6/21 too

molly, i got a taste of jack daniels honey last night, interesting.
dryer than a popcorn fart around here right now.even crossy would not look too harshly upon a wee dram of JD honey
Some people like a bit of sweet with their liquor.
actually have a small(1 pint) bottle of gran marnier i have been hoarding for emergencies.may have to look up some nice drinks to create with it
And like you mentioned yesterday TO, "with honey" is the new "trendy" thing at bars.
pa6 the first?
Like the canal.
i stuck wih my chocolate liquer. it was a bargain, double shot for 4>25. Could have used a second while watching the A10
I'd save that Grand Marnier for a crepe, after it has cooked a while in orange juice, pour on the GM and set it alight!
or the hat..or the cigar.. or all three;))
Good price
mmmm,sounds delish,rugy
ruby
fresh strawberries with a little sugar and a splash of GM are good too.
GM-Grand Marnier
mmmm
I'm eating with Fuzzy : )
yes, surpsiringly less than other places. bad bb ball and bad dj though :(
I'll eat anything with GM!
thx molly
I could do that bunny but could it have cream, too?
Of course!
what is i just drink the GM while cooking a batch of crepes, ruby?? lol
sounds like Dan Ackroyd's spoof of Julia Child
GM is the only alcohol that I will drink other than beer and wine
remember chevy chase? he drank the lime juice, snorted the salt and tossed the shot of tequila over his left shoulder hehe
Did you know that Julia was 51 before she started her career as a famous chef?
I like liqueurs in desserts, but I can't drink them straight. Too sweet.
i have a firend who is on some kind of list where she gets invited to all sorts of liquor tastings. that is interesting.
i am with mollhy on the sweet thing, even the godiva is more reamy than sweet
If you go into a posh liquer store these days the sheer number of different flavors is dizzying.
I used to have a friend who would order me a "pousse cafe" (sp?) after dinner -- layers of different liqueurs, both eautiful and delish
especially flavored vodka. a travesty
I've made one of those, but never tasted one.
what is in it roby?
Ruby - you are correct on your spelling, the liqueurs are layred according to their specific gravity.
it's lovely as you sip it you get the mix of flavors. I've flavored my own vodka with blackberries from the garden -- not bad at all
give me nice basic high end vodka any day.nice high alcohol content so i can clean with it,sterilize wounds or run my car on it if needed:)
no flavoured vodkas for crossy..though i have made bacon vodka at home when the madness strikes me
i am sure that is much better than god know what they put in it commercial stuff. just a ploy to get kids to drink.
I'm not sure, TO, but it was multyi-colored, so it ust have had kahlua, creme de menthe, GM, something clear, etc.
i will google it
and fuzzy bunny is right about the specific gravities -- has to be a sophisticated bar
There are several different recipes, but most call for what Ruby mentioned and a few others.
hi folks
you would need very steady hands!
You have to slow pour, over the back of a spoon to get the whole thing to line up right.
hi welki
i've found one can order anything but if the barkeep is not experienced in making it
Yes, a steady hand indeed! I have made many.
<-- makes a cocktail with three flavored vodkas (espresso, dutch chocolate and vanilla) and white creme de cacao
hi welk
we are making a pousse cafe in the PB; everybody is weighing and contributing a different liqueur
ruby, when i used to bartend, there was this 7 layer drink we had to make.the first layers was something firey hot or with cinnamon and the layers cooled and eased ase you went up with it till the top layers was ice cold peppermint schnapps.took a long time to make and it was 1 per customer
no no, ruby: NOBODY is weghing in :)
hahah TO
Sambucca
i flost 3 coffee beans on that and fire it,fuzzy
float
those were the days!
let it burn for 30 seconds so the coffee flavour infuses into the sambucca then put it out and enjoy.i tried to drink it flaming once and lost half my beard
Bailey's, kahlua, and Sambuca layered, a slippery nipple.
looked up pousse cafe on google - they're very pretty, reminds me of those clear layered cone-shaped lollipops we had as kids
i doubt they will be making any where we are going tonight.
Oh Crossy, that sounds delicious, I will have to try that one. I have heard about people loosing mustaches that way as well.
we could have a babble bar ; I'd contribute home-made BlackBerry vodka
Great idea, virutal bar, no hangovers.
i would contribute my famouse crossy martini,s
an kept virtue
What is in a crossy martini?
and*
crossy's are vodka; chez ruby is bombay gin and noilly prat
mmmmm gin
mmmm - bombay sapphire
i like it, it does not like me. or my stonach
I tended bar for many years, made many a martini, but I have drank one!
yes indeed
"never drank"
well, fuzzy, you take 3 ounces of chilled vodka OR gin and pour into a large chilled martini glass, then you take a sterling silver coctail sword and add3 pearl onions if using vodka or 3 pimento olives if using gin and gently slide it into the glass so as to not bruise the alcohol.now lean over the glass and gently whisper "Antonio Benedetto Carpano" ad a zest of lemon or a sliver of orange peel and serve
it seems i am an anomaly because i drink hard lliquor, in my soila circle. this from folks who will drink 3-4 beers. what is the diff?
if you drink 3-4 beers or one cocktail?
Crossy, that sounds yummy for all my martini drinking friends. I might try a vodka one with the zest of orange.
and they are always shaken, never stirred
so cold,it sends a sliver of chill right to the centre of your head on the first sip
i've discovered orange angostura bitters - very nice in a manhattan, would be nice with vodka and soda, i'd think
yes,bitters can be used
TO, as far at the alcohol is concerned probably not much of difference. Most good martinis are at least 2 ounces of alcohol. The social difference would be that the beer drinkers would take longer to consume their beers than the person who just drinks one martini.
My sister-in-law drinks campari, bitters and soda over ice and loves it.
that's my summer drink, fuzzy - with a slice of lime
have not added extra bitters to it, since campari on its own is already a bitter - but will give it a shot
if there is dancing i have no time to deink multiple drinks
hahaha - give it a shot :)
Sometimes in the summer I will have mt. gay and soda, no fruit. Quite refreshing.
you need a flask with tubing, owl
what's mt. gay?
Barbados rum
i like appleton estates spiced rum;)
i have a recipe for a white wine mojito but i find minty drinks unpalatable. i had to have the nie barmaid dotor up my mojito to be able to drink it.
she put in more lime and soda
Another great summer drink is cold coffee with a shot of Tia Maria and a 1/4 shot of Meyers dark rum, serve over ice, whipped cream on top. I served this by the gallon in the summer time.
too much like a dessert for me,fuzzy, just give the the rum splashed over a single ice cube
long island iced teas are nice in summer. definintely a one drink act
3 fingers worth if you please;))
It is like desert, a summertime after dinner coffee.
Hi All
howey
oops, howdy
long island iced tea is nice as long as you make it proper and not from pre-mix
: )
howdy again,hego
<----loves LI iced tea.
hello hego
A well made long island ice tea is very good.
hi, hego
Welki!
we match!!
That's so funny!
that is too funny
gin, rum, vodka and triple sec(1/2 oz of each then 3/4 fill the glass with pink lemonade, then add a splash of coke or pepsi for colouring then add crushed ice and garnish with bit of lemon wedge
seasonal - i changed my flag. only 50% irish, but it counts :)
How was the trip home?
I have never made it pink lemonade crossy, I will have to try it that way.
it is amazing, fuzzy, but after 2 of them you cannot feel your legs
I believe that! You should try to walk after having two Dark and Stormy's...
problem is that they go down waaay to easy on a hot day
Dark and Stormy - Gosling's rum and bermuda ginger beer.
ohh, i like ginger beer
use to pre measure the booze into half a dozen glasses because after three of them you cannot do all that exact leasuring with the shot glass and all those bottle any longer
use to pre measure the booze into half a dozen glasses because after three of them you cannot do all that exact leasuring with the shot glass and all those bottle any longer
Welki, it is great with Gosling's dark rum!
crosy loves ginger beer
no wonder the bunny is fuzzy. lol
Crossy, I wouldn't be able to do anything after one! I don't drink that much and straight alcohol goes right to my brain.
it is so hard to even find a good ginger beer now:((
Good one hego!
i wouldn
wouldn't know the difference
: D
Gosling's and Barretts' both make ginger beer and it is imported from Bermuda. A little pricey at a dollar a can.
Can I have a clue for the last pat?. After the get together and have fun.
Tx
i bought a mr boston's guide at a yard sale and it is like reading history, to see all those bygone drinks
HI TO
Old drink recipe books are fun. I worked at a bar once that did not use any mixes, all of the drinks were made with fresh juices. We did make and use simple syrup for sweetners.

hi all
hi all
Hi jmc, and other Babblers.
i got tired of wrestling my computer and printer. . .
Was that a tag-team match, jmc
sounds exhausting
pretty much. . .when i could get the computer to work the printer stopped!
fireworks
my computers have stopped talking to the printer on the wireless server and i can't fingure out why...
whoo hooo cosd!
i mean was it something i said?
Yay!! Cos!!
when that happens here we unplug and replug the printer.
it woks sometimes.
works
i will try that but i think i tried that already. . . i think i may have to take my laptop down to it and start all over :-(
Hego, it woks sometimes, and sometimes it fries the computer?
poor baby : (
i was working around it with another computer but that has run out of toner now. . .
i mean another printer. . .
*head spinning*
was wondering about your computer running out of toner.
spam is not a word!!?!??!?!?!
that one got me too.
But the country with a canal is, go figure.
lol just thinking that!
ah but that one i understand. . . holland covers for your furniture when you shut up the manor to go to london! hahaha
uh oh, she's losing it.....
me? not me i just read a lot of regency romances
Nothing but proper noun definitions for the pa6, country, canal, etc. But this game is notorious for not following it's own rules. : O
oh a different country. . . .
Maybe when it is used as an adjective to describe a hat?
i am sure the game follows its own rules . .. i am not sure we really know what those rules are. . .
Well when you read what is "not allowed" (abbreviations) and then see tons of abbreviations allowed, you get the drift that the rules mean nothing.
Would knowing the rules make this game more fun? Look at all the fun we have complaining about what words are or are not allowed.
heh heh heh
okay i found the other canal country. . .
And all the fun people have complaining about the fact that we complain. : P
yes i think it is the hat that works for that one

hi jmc, wht, molly, and hego!
i think the foil caps work best for me
Just for tomorrow, put on an Irish walking hat. : D
is there one in the pb molls?
I will lend you one of mine. It's the classy way to look Irish. : )
I think it is next to the green beer, jmc
i do have a tweed hat leftover from hubby. . .is that close enough?
sorry i don't drink green beer. . .
As long as you walk while wearing it.
It's close. And it beats the shamrock antennae by a long mile.
stats for the corner N please
lord shoot me if i ever wear shamrock antennae!
ne5/12
i could walk to the car to go to Meeting in it. . .and if it is as warm tomorrow with fewer clouds maybe walk to the garden to dig
ty uu
It is what jmc needs to get her printer working.
*looks confused* toner?
JMC, is it me, or do you always seem to have major computer issues at tax time?
no, the person (speaking of abbreviations)
(they smell the fear molls)
I seriously doubt that is the ne5 Enable is allowing.
i actually think that is that they get such a work out during tax time that they breakdown to have a rest. .
from Merriam-Webster: chiefly NewEng : friend —formerly used by colonists in salutation to American Indians
(that's the ne5) - apparently comes from Algonquin
So JMC, you need an American Indian to fix your computer. : P
ty googling that helped!
ty uu. I never knew that.
haha i am afraid all of my Indian friends live too far away
stats for the corner t for nbt please
to5/12
it doesn't help that this year the software people completely revamped their software and it won't do a lot of the stuff that i want to do. . .
Why would you want to do the same old stuff, when you could be doing the nifty new stuff, jmc.
hi all, and who else has called the phantom tomato?
grrrrrr
i certainly tried to type it in book
hi gwen! my phamtom is pajama
i really want to go smash some code writers faces. . .(in a quakerly manner of course)
actually, my phantom was entropy. Made me think think of Sue.
lol, wht! I'm in the middle of moving so lots of entropy here right now :-)
Wht, I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. : D
Just about everyone, Gwen : )
Even though it's a long stretch to that second O.
Be careful what you say about code writers, jmc. After all, I am one.
i lied. . . i need stats for the Y too
ya5/18 and plural
*Throws holy water at Wht*
i know i know wht but thankfully you are not writing the code for this tax software
The second o would work if you could just wrap around from the bottom to the topl
actually if you were maybe i could get you to tell me how to do the things i need!
ooh, that is good, wht! You could wrap the sides too and have a toroidal grid...
Actually, have some pity on the code writers since they didn't know what the tax law was going to look like until sometime after the last minute.
nbt finally
My husband always got somewhat possessed when he spent a lot of time writing code. Kind of twitchy and unable to speak words of English well.
the things that are driving me crazy have nothing to do with that. . . it is more how they have the printing set up . . .
but, yes, it must have been pretty high pressure getting it out after the irs responded to the congress's inaction
My technique for doing my taxes is to call up the guy I carpooled with 20 years ago and set up a time for him to come over and do our taxes.
and i also give them credit that there is actually a place where i can give them feedback on this software. . .
well i am the person the people call wht so i not only have to struggle with new software but with annoyed clients that it is taking me so long. . . .
The first program I ever wrote, professionally was one to print out w-2 forms. That is as close as I have ever come to doing tax software.
i will have to tell you the great story about my friend (a quaker) who wrote the code for the clocks on all computers. . . it is so funny
he was at berkley and inventing C at the time. . . when he and his friend and coworker realized that computer clocks should have time zones outside of the U.S.
so he started writing the code for it and began to look for where he could get information about the various time zones in the world. . .
his friend ran across an astrology book in a used book store and realized that astrologers use logrythms to calculate horoscopes and that the book had all the information that they needed for the clocks. . .
so they used the astrology information for the clocks that are now in all computers to do the drop down to the right time zone and footnoted that they did so somewhere in some article. . .
pretty funny, jmc!
oh, boy, a used book store! (do go on) 8-)
a big company bought up the copyright to the astorlogy book and saw that they didn't pay for the information so sued my friend and his and intuit and microsoft for copyright infringement. . .
(yes book i thought you would like that touch! something for nearly everyone in this story)
well, at least intuit and microsoft have deep pockets...
surely the math used in astrology is public domain, but whatever
i am sure that is why they sued! but the case was dismissed because they cited it and you cannot copyright facts
I hope the company lost the lawsuit because copyright only covers the expression of an idea and not the idea itself.
ha, good for them.
yes book ding ding ding you and wht win the prize today!
*looks in bag of tricks and hands the both shamrock pins for their lapels*
oh goodie, i could use some cookies lol
i just learned this story about 2 weeks ago from my friend. . .you would love him wht
Being in software these days is an ongoing tutorial in the fine points on intelluctual property law.
so the moral of the story is, always cite your sources!
i bet. . .he was worried for awhile but i told him he should have called me and i would have told him you cannot copyright facts!
okay i am ready to go another round with my printer. . bbl. . . 84 left
*slips book some oatmeal cookies*

hehe...I know Molly, just realized I didn't say BRB earlier as I was typing "I'm back" :)
Reminded me of the comment the other day about the french leaving without saying goodbye
and the Hungarians saying goodbye without leaving :)
Hi everyone. It is a beautiful day here.....wish I could get out but at least I can see the beauty.
Sorry to hear you can't get out peach, what's wrong?
The "manners" here crack me up sometimes. Like it's rude to go and live your life. : D
:)
hi all, I am having lots of trouble with the j words
Aw Peach, can you at least get some fresh air in the place?
I monkeyed two of them
Hi peri...just monkeyed my last one
what ones do you need?
Do you have the person who sits on a trial panel?
I just found that one, ty Molls
I ALWAYS have trouble with the J words!!

I like the <---'s
I did not go out today since it is gray, rainy and icy and I did not buy any Bailey's Irish Cream
Oh good. I guess that is only intensely annoying to some.
lol...even better reason to <---
Peri...: ( : (
I still have gin tho
:)
18 left, bbl to finish
losing the will to love on this one!! Think I'll wander off and find something else and come back later. Good luck all
BBL
Sorry smores, someone came to walk one of the dogs. The reason I can't get out is because I'm in a wheel chair and I have a postage stamp back yard and although I have a ramp, my muscles are weakening and I never know if I have enough strength to get back up to the door.
Molly, we were talking the other night about Wayne Dyer....I have one of his live lecture cd sets. The Power of Intention. I will send this to you if you need to hear it.....he makes a great deal of sense.
He makes a great deal of sense, Peach. And it boils down to a simple phrase, thoughts become things. If your thoughts are constantly negative...of worry, fear and anxiety...that is what you invite into your life. If your thoughts are of happiness, health and abundance...that is what you invite into your life.
Indeed. I am surrounded by negative people and am constantly to "bring them up". So, I call on this "Power of Intention" a lot.
In my way of thinking, we are not responsible for the negative energy of other people. We are only responsible for what we do with our own energy.
Well, dear Molly, I will put this cd back, should you know someone who might benefit from it....I will be happy to send it to them.
That is a great idea Peach. I already have a lot of Wayne Dyer lectures in my video library.
I like Chopra as well. I have't heard anything of his lately, however.
Negativity can suck the life blood out of people. Thats why I
I love Babble & Babblers!
Very little negativity, and loads of positive energy((((Gapeach)))). Hoe the heck are you?
'How'
Oh, hello there, dear Soodle. I love Babble and the Babblers also.
Are you well Gapeach?
Soodle, I have had a couple of "down" months (mostly due to Post-Polio pain) But I am working on it....do need you thoughts and prayers.
I hope you are well. Are you planning anything special for St. Paddy's Day?
Indeed I do, my friend! For my Mam, who is not too well at the moment.
Good. I will send her positive energy and you as well.
Someone is coming now to work on my transfer tub bench. I will be back later.
See you latercGape, and thanks. (((()))
Soodle, I am assuming boy got home safely.
He did, Molly!! Bearing a huge bottle of Chanel Mademoiselle for Mothers Day. Whatever sort of a boy I raised, he's not a stingy one!!
He is a good soul, who knows how to be grateful to the one who laid his foundation. I am glad there are men like him in the world. You will have a grateful daughter-in-law one day.
He dined on our version of the fatted calf tonight. Bacon, cabbage & mashed potatoes. Very patriotic!
back
so far the printer is winning
sound tasty soodle
I actually can't stand bacon & cabbage, but the son & heir hankers after it, so.....
how do you cook the cabbage? boil?
Boil the bacon. Then use the water to boil the cabbage. Stinks the house out!
oh not so fond of boil bacon. . .a little fat back in my greens is enough for me. . .
i could see steaming the cabbage and sprinkling crisp bacon on it. . .
Molly! The woman who deserves my son hasn't been born yet. (Subscribing to the the typical Irish Mammy stereotype)
Saute the cabbage in butter and onions, until the cabbage is crisp/tender. Sprinkle crispy bacon over that and let set for a bit. I serve my with colcannon.
Soodle, that is what I thought. But my daugher-in-law was out there, I just didn't know it yet.
yum that sounds even better molls. . .i have some cabbage and bacon so i may make that for tomorrow night!
Ah, JMC, the bacon that goes with bacon & cabbage isn't your slivers of bacon so beloved of Crossy. Its a dirty big hunk pork. The actual shank. Jeepers, I'm probably upsetting all vegetarian Babblers
i have never made colcannon but it looks within my abilities. . .
Colcannon is delish!
ah so the moral equivelant of when i use fatback. . .
You are blessed , Molly!
i think i will do the crispy bacon though. . .
i am waiting to see if the miss my boy is dating is going to be my dil. . .i am in no rush. . .
but i do like her. . .if only she weren't allergic to cats
...deal breaker...
well my other computer has finished rebooting so off to the wrestling match again. . . i will get this printer to print before bed tonight so help me!
pretty close to a deal breaker since i have a cat and the boy wants one. . .
74 left. . . *poof*
Bye JMC:-). And Hi Ruru
heya soods
Deal breaker will be referring to her as dil.
My situation is the opposite. I have to tolerate cats (a cat) because my daughter-in-law is a cat person. One who lets the cat climb all over the house.
On the kitchen counter, on the dining room table, all kinds of places where cat ass does not belong.
i am allergic to cats too.
And now that I have offended all the cat lovers in the room, I will be off, before I get lectured.
*ties fingers*
The town I live in, Trim, Co Meath is only about half an hour from Dublin Airport. It boasts a Norman Castle ( which featured in the film Braveheart, not name dropping, or anything..). The town is ALIVE with American tourists this evening. I have a feeling tomorrow's Saint Patricks Day celebrations will be Epic!
yes .. nothing is worse than angry pussy-lovers
There I was, injecting a bit of culture into the chog, and along came Ruru!
I'm just talking about cats
Indeed. :-)
you know soodle.. pussycats
Indeed again. :-)
*blinks.* *innocent look* :D
Holy mary mother of god. Lets all join hands and pray for the soul of Ruru. To be shure to be sure. Begob n begorrah

an injury to your body peri Tr 6
an injury to your body peri Tr 6
an injury to your body peri Tr 6
ty ruru, it was the other 6 I needed and I found it
Peri. Colcannon is mashed potatoes, with cabbage & onions mashed through it
oh, that sounds really good
I have never had it
Its peasant food, but tasty.
And it's pleasant food,,,,
someone said bacon....
Cook it and they will come......
i would be happy with peasant food forever.crossy does not need the strange concoctions that make it to the tables of the upper crust.it is all too bizzare.give me taters, give me saugges give me yorkie puds, and fish pies, give me pickled eggs and draught beer with a nice wedge of shepards pie.i delight in apple pie with a bit of sharp cheese on the side washed down with a single malt whiskey.give me corned beef and cabbage.give me these things and i am a happy peasant
sausages
Hungry now
bangers and mash, toad in the hole, chicken pot pies, anazing sausage rolls in a flaky crust, bacon and egg pies..ahhhh that is good eats
and after reading a article that broke down the horrors of the chemical used in most margerines,i have gone back to using natural creamery butter in all aspects of cooking
chemicals*
My son was lecturing me for eating marge today, but it's the type that's supposed to help lower cholesterol.
I love real butter but isn't it an artery blocker?
Doesn't stop me eating it though. :)
too bad the rest that goes along with it is not so great.yes we have that marge here also but it is ultra expensive and my colesterol is fine. odd eh?? all those crossy breakfasts and my colesterol is 96
i am sure cancer will eventually get me long before eating butter will
rest of the body is shot to hell but the colesterol is great;))
lol, good to hear you're still being positive
you can pull up all kinds of reviews on the net of butter vs margerines and in the end it boils down to tit for tat. it is all a trade off.so i just go with what tastes better with the least amount of chemicals
i even make my own butter at home when the mood strikes me
now, cannot get more natural than that:))
well, the cows may be on hormones, but they are not talking and they are not running for the olympics anytime soon so have to trust the health board on that one
Really need to go and look for food now, bbl
tc chrissie
real butter preferably made from raw milk is best for you, marg is not. Or use the Vermont cows that are pledged not to be on hormones for your miljk and butter. Raw milk is best for you if you know your supplier. Ultrapasteurized kills ALL bacteria, good or bad. and what an onymoron is fat-free half and half.
I'm new here, and almost everyone seems more interested in interesting topics than they do the grid-- although a word in the grid often starts a topic discussion. Fascinating.
I've learned abt Lickety. But how are the grids generated? A computer crap shoot?
Hi again :)
Hey RoundBarn :) glad to "see" you again
I believe it is a random computer generated program.
lol...just read back through chat
fat-free half and half :)
glad you're on smores--I was all alonely. Did you know that s'mores were invented abt 1928? I used them in a story and had to be sure I wan't being anacronistic. At least before '38, I forget the date.
And uusue lives in a town made rich by bob wire, she must know that--but bob wire was actually invented in Kent, Ohio (more of my research) but the inventor didn't do anything with it, so lost out on a fortune.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi Minver! been a while - how are you?
Hello all just getting started and glad to see you all.
Hello dan2bit! I am doing well. I just survived a state audit at my job. I hope things are going well for you.
Hello stidgmere! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
left to go get dessert and the chat started back up :)
Hi miner anyone who goes through audits deserves a couple of days off. Oh, maybe you will have today and tomorrow to recuperate.
THe audit was on Tuesday&Wednesday, however, the work week seemed to last forever! It was exhuasting!
You have the weekend off I hope.
Yes, I always have the weekends off, thank goodness!
That's good Min, give you a couple days to relax
reading the chat,,,, bob wire???? in Kansas it is barbed wire.........................
hmm,,, maybe it was Bob Wire..........
hey all -- Mother, did you meet Nemo yet?
Hello gemini_313!How are you doing?Welcome to grid
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
in Wis and thereabouts barbed wire is called bob wire, creek is crick, teat is tit, etc
hey Min! how's the weekend? I have a migraine, so waiting to grade the last of the papers for reports until tomorrow. Would hate to downgrade a kid just because my head hurts!
T's Toppled! 6 left

I am down to 88 now.
Terrific Min :)
Good weekend so far. I'm visiting with my two sisters
Hi mama. Had a nice day visiting and seeing the new puppy. He is a lovely guy who already knows his name and several important commands.

Goodbye smores! I'll see you later on in the chat log.
well, halfway. i think I will go lie down for a little while and try to do some grading later. It won't take long, but it will need more concentration than I can give right now.
Back later to finishm maybe. *choclits!* *poof*
Goodbye stidmama! I hope your migraine disappears.
J's Jabbed! 4 left
howdy all:)) back again to let this grid beat up on me a bit more;)
Still 24 left and time to warm up left overs. I fixed risotto (sp) last night and we have some left overs. I usually don't do the saffron and all but it seemed more holiday-like to do it. Glad to have the energy to put into special dishes. Good night all.
Goodbye stidgmere!I will see you tomorrow in the log
howdy min;))
Hello crosshair! How are you?Enjoying your weekend?
not too bad, though my mrs is laid out with a killer migraine thats now in it" 4th day
i think much of it is caused by her vision issues.going through life with 20/400 vision that cannot be altered by eyeglass must be a strain on things
May I please have a clue for an7-40? Thanks
study of the human body gapeach
Thanks much, ruru. How YOU doin?
hi all
That was a line from "Friends"....Joey, I think.
Hi there, Picklesny.
hi ga
Morning everyone
Hey there, lynxxx.
Hello all...Can someone give me a clue for pa 7/32?
or good evening on this side of the globe
pa7 what you have in doubles tennis
Sure could use pa6-24....thanks
Duh... I played doubles this morning, LOL. Thanks Lynxxx

hello everyone. hope you are having fun
hi Bugs. A challenging grid so kinda fun
the easy ones make me feel smarter tho
Thanks much, lynxxx.
Anyone have a clue for ma 6/21?
like comedian Steve Ma****, change last vwl
ma 6/21 is actor Steve Ma****, but change last vowel.
Thanks, Min and lynx---such a pretty bird, too.
Yes, thanks. I actually had that one. It's one of the ma 4/6 words that I don't have. Sorry about that!
Ah...Just got that one!
ma4/6 word is ma plus negative prefix and other one is same, but change the last consonant penquis.
Mimi - actually its a very cute critter, I think the bird is with an i?
May I please have a clue for ma5-12 the 2nd? Thanks ...I'm down to 2.
Oh, you're right, lynx!! And I'm the one who has worked with exotic animals so much!! Shame on me!!
ma5 m & picnic pest and vwl
By the way, lynx, your icon namesake is a very cool cat to work with---but very challenging.
That ma 5/12 word is m plus the an4/4 word gapeach
Thanks so much, lynxxx.
I know but their looks make up for so much - wish mine did!
Good clue Min : )
LOL--you and me both, lynx! I just told my best friend I feel like the marshmallow man from Ghostbusters is holding me captive and won't let me out! Never had a weight problem before and HATE it. Cardiologist thinks my thyroid is basically GONE. Hope to get it fixed soon.
How about a clue for et 5/16? Just can't figure that one out.
And, yes, a very beautiful cat. I have one now who looks a lot like one except for the ear tufts...but he's a lot easier to handle.
Good luck Mimi - never heard of that b4 - hope it is a quick fix for you
e & old time actor ** Hardin & abbrev for Mother
The thyroid basically controls metabolism and interacts with pretty much everything else in the body. When it goes down, you cannot lose weight no matter what you do-----believe me, I've tried. Just waiting for insurance again...hopefully soon.
Oh, no, I remember that actor!!! Wow---are we OLD or WHAT?!
Interesting
I got it from that clue too. Thanks
Thanks, lynxxx...It was a western, right?...Rotated with two other westerns. Can't recall the name of the show.
Gonna scoot outta here now and have dinner and another martini! Hugs all around.
May I please have a clue for ne5-12? Thanks.....it is the last one.

sorry

Thanks so much, penquis. That was FW. Thanks for all the help. See y'all at the flip.
Congrats Peach! Fireworks for me too - Bye everyone
Congratulations gapeach on your fireworks!Way to go
Congratulations lynxxx on your fireworks! Good for U!
Yes, TH was in Bronco...Will someone (?) was Sugarfoot...Clint Walker was Cheyenne...Wish I could get rid of some of this trivia to make room for more important things, LOL.
Will Hutchins??
Can I get a clue for ru 5/12 please?
ru + mexican alamo general santa ***
That ru 5/12 word is ru plus a woman's name penquis

it will be better soon. Spring break in two weeks! LOL
the ark is still there (and will be until the flood and it floats away) but Mr Bugs is still outside and he is happy
Are you also having the weather front move through Stid?
yikes, stid...what a handful to juggle
MLFAN start with the potato and let your monkeys find 3 more points with 2 tiles. That is how I found it
Please tell mr bugs hello for us! I keep thinking of him as I walk past my paternal unit's boat trailer in my driveway. ;-)
that ya word isnt working?
I am glad you smile when you think of him stid. I do too
I am just glad to have a couple of months' steady work, pini -- I could take the rest of the year "off" at this point and still have made the minimum I need to cover my student loans until October!
well done, stid...I know you've worked hard!
hello again, back for my last dozen
Hi Smores!
Pini, I hope you get to meet mr bugs someday - he's a really nifty guy. I wish I were half as smart as he is. Then the young whippersnappers I am trying to teach would learn so much faster!
hey again smores!
that is awesome Stid!
smores do you have the first column E or y?
stid, do you have team teaching positions there where 2 teachers share a class. One does mornings and the other does pms or one does 3 days and the other does 2. I wonder if that set up would help you not get so run down?
I'd love to, stid...just have to figure out how to afford a vacation ... to anywhere!
sweet potato + I **zipped my fly
phew ty car
Now to the E's....
oh way better clue car! thanks
en + a snare

en 7/28 is one who participates in a race or contest
en7/28
er6/18
The issue is subbing long-term for a young teacher who didn't have good classroom management to begin with. I have the kids (finally) to where most of them will do the work; and most of them are able to be respectful most of the time (which is the best anyone gets at this particular grade).
third column O help please?
or 4/4
you are correct stid. it is a rough age but they are still young enough to want to learn in fun ways and you are good for that
clue for ta5/14 please

oooh! AND since I joined the NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and got access to the archives online, I found a REALLY COOL activity to introduce the new unit on graphing! :-D I am SO PROUD of myself for realizing I could find some ideas that way. LOL silly, I suppose, but just finding some small way to make things more interesting while sticking to the essentials has been rough.
go smores go!!!!
:)
okay i need one more for nbt
my babble success today was seeing the pirate bird by myself within my first ten words.

sweet dreams, car! so happy to see you tonight!!! *scatters choclits under car's pillow*
Night all!
I will have some freedom in April... or May? Definitely June. LOL unless I get the "rest of the year" 4th grade job I applied for.
* I'll keep my fingers for the job, stid * I'd probably do better after graduation...
okay, we'll plan a "girls' day" in June.
...this past fall I hired, trained, and then let go my assistant...it's been busy to say the least.
...I post the position again in May/June...
(let her go only last month)...been playing catch up and recovery at the same time since
I was a d4 Admin Assistant. Willing to move. *eager beaver look*
or should that be an eager duck look?
*wicked mama grin*
ROFL
beavers are our rivals
do you know how to quack or build dams?
;-)
(it's only PT tho)
I am a (geo)duck... does that count?
works for me, stid!!! :)
hm. PT. I could learn to do my nails and get extensions and wear really high heels.
ROFL
*sigh* Tom doesn't think he likes the "new" me
that might be a little overkill for my unit
you're too funny!
yeah, but all those introvert grad students would just DIE if they saw me bat my eyes at them... gray hair and all!
see, this is what I miss about you not being here when I log in.
we're in the midst of admissions now...waiting for our first offers to be accepted...
...youngest are 22 and the oldest is 67!
I am SO glad to be done applying to schools. For stunting, that is. I would LOVE to be done applying to schools as a teacher. I am ready to start a permanent position that I can get really good at before I retire in 30 or 35 years.
meant for studenting *sigh* my fingers and eyes are tired
I know what you mean and I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed for you! We should be able to retire about the same time! :)
how about an assist for the A in the middle column? then I will have NBT and under 40 and can call it good enough.
we'll go on vacation when we retire. Cancun or something. "Grannies gone wild"
YES!!!
wow...finally finished, those last few were rough
I'm game! :)
